Lauren we did one a little bit earlier and largest got back from one. So we're gonna be talking about disney crew. And what ship were you on. I was on the dream. would you guys do. We were in the dream. Fantasy that So he can compare some notes and Swaps and stories and well reminisce. Oddly if you haven't on a disney cruise is a lot of questions so we wanted to kind of go over with the experiences. How it's different. Yeah we we should probably put it in a disclosure that it changes every five minutes. There's always something new. So always keep up with the with the travel agent with lauren or sharpie and they will keep you up to date on. What the new changes are. Because it's always something so yeah it's different from when we went versus when lauren went. Yes so that's how quickly it it cannot change. there's always a different thanks. Oh so And some of that's because of its The island is in the bahamas so bahamas has their own rules and regulations so as they changed then It changes who can go and how what has to be done and all that. So that's always up for review and changes so yeah. It's very moment just very very important to make sure that you know what's happening because it's no joke when you get to the port. If you missed something along the way they will deny you embarkation. And they will say. I'm very sorry you know. Go go to disneyworld. won't let you on. They don't make exceptions around. There's no exceptions to the rules. So until everything is done. Hopefully but that said i had an awesome trip and well let's beginning okay because things are different from the very beginning Lauren tell us your experience in the pre cruise. Before you even get on an airplane to go to orlando out of that so you get on the plane you have to do. The safe travels which is what they calls. It's not safe passage and the safe passage basically you have to upload your vaccination and Trying to find the website hairiness yes. It's not that bad. It's just a it's another on it too. I'm gonna end right now safe passage and it's Or d. c. L. d. c. l. Dot safe passage dot com. So they have their own site. The connects you reservation to the safe passage site and so it's all conveniently tied together which is good right and so basically you have to do your prescreen which clears you to arrive. And then when you get to the port you do your embarkation screen and then when you leave you do disembarkation screen and upon arrival like once you get your pre sale screening done which basically is uploading your vaccine information or pr test. If you your child under the age of twelve twelve and under i should say must be done within twenty four hours to three days prior to the sale date and if you're vaccinated you could actually applaud that i believe up to twelve days. Prior ray say that again reverts vaccinated. You can go into the safe passage and uploaded earlier than yes three days and then you get your qr code. You print your qr code. You have to print that you will be asked for that. Qr code five million times before you actually get on that ship. I'm not even remotely exaggerating that number. That's scary so make sure that you do your pre-sales screaming nature. You print your qr code. Make sure you just have it readily available because every checkpoint you hit you're gonna have to show it so So once you get all that done you get your qr code printed. Take it with you. Offer each passport And then when you get to the poor do not arrive early in port canaveral for your port time because they will turn you away Like they can't even get into the facility. You can't even get close to the port. it will make wall. You can pull up like we pulled up and dropped our bags and then they said circle for a few minutes and then come back and we'll take us can go into the line. Okay see it was different for us. They wouldn't they wouldn't let you near to even drop of luggage so things are changing this. Why you need to be on top of things and we were close to our time. We weren't that far off so that could be why most goodbye they did. Let us like drop our bags off and then they just circle around a little bit and then come back in a few minutes so we did that and then They send you into the parking garage if your parking if you're coming via Disney transfers getting dropped off. You're going to go into the tent for testing We did. We drove in and parked so we went through the parking garage. You pull in you park in a parking spot they scan your code and a nurse comes to the window and gives you however many people are in your car the tests and you do the test yourself you bag it you give it to them and then you go up the parking garage. The top like to a higher level you park and you wait for your text message telling you that you're clear to embark twenty to thirty minutes about for us we So we came on the dizzy Shuttle and then we went through the tent and they they have a nurse there and they handle suave and you do it and they put in a little bag and then you go into a holding tent where they have like cartoons playing and then there's a screen with the a bunch of numbers on it when and they give you what they tell you what your number is. And then when you're number shows up you're cleared tua. Go walk out and walk onto the ship. It was kinda fun though because as people were getting cleared. You were hearing cheers in the garage. Yeah it's definitely a celebration was funny. I didn't hear anybody crying. So i think in our area got cleared to to sale. So that worked out well So when you so that's yeah so once you go through that process.

I'm assuming this left out of cape canaveral yet port canaveral. We actually had a debate on this beforehand. It was quite lengthy and a little ridiculous. What's the difference between cape canaveral port. Canaveral port canaveral is just wear. The ships are actually located. but it's within cape canaveral. That's a really good question. But yeah that's that's what i would assume. Then we said well. What if it's called cape port canaveral. Just combine all of them. So i know you. Your plan was flew into orlando. Was it a day or two early and you went to the parks for a little bit before travelling east out to the coast so i actually flew in that morning of the ship leaving. I think i flew in tamagotchi orlando but my fight was actually delayed. Toss supposed to get there much earlier. So we had plans to go to disney springs and hang out but we only had enough time to disney springs and like run to get in and get cookies and then leave and i flew out the day that we got back but i did go to magic kingdom for a few hours so that was quite the busy travel day. What a That sounds like the perfect. Depend me of why. It's good that you now have an annual pass because you probably wouldn't have bought a day ticket. "Change. Yeah and and. I think it's really important becky to that. We we start by when we talk about the cruise process. It does not begin when you arrive at the port. And i think we really should start at the very beginning as you are starting to think about booking and how even the booking process and the pre crews online process is different. I actually think improved first and foremost as a very quick aside. Now is the time now is wow there are. I looked again earlier this morning. Amazing deals on cruises. I'm literally thinking of going back again. Because the rates are so low free now you can do an subject to change. Check with your la three night. Halloween on the high seas is fourteen hundred dollars for two people. If i'm if. I'm doing my math correctly. It's about seven hundred dollars per person. I spend that much in food in three days. So it's worth it for me for the late night chicken tenders if you know you know like crazy. Good deals and that's crazy. Those are really low rates for for disney cruise. Line for sure and they are somebody somebody who could focus for you. Go figure i'm not getting like sound exasperated at that for a second. I do know right now. They are rolling out some offers. Save up to twenty five percent on select sailings from port canaveral. That's primarily over. The late fall so i do see dates. Anywhere from timber seventeenth into The beginning today actually to the beginning of november so they are now trying to To fill some of that space that they held back because they are increasing the capacity ever so slightly which is great to see Obviously what we sailed on was all the cruises. I've been on this past the past couple months have been between thirty and forty percent capacity which made it really feel like the ship was all to us which was especially great on castaway cay but Knowing that these rates are coming down they're encouraging people to book once again which is a great sign. So let's talk about the booking process and how things are different online and certainly what the what the current and to be clear. The current covert food calls are the online booking process. And i actually highly recommend not just becky's year especially now more than ever having a disney travel agent is really really beneficial because there are a lot of changes loud new protocols a lot of things to wade through notwithstanding that the booking process itself with you go through the site. We'll go with your agency is relatively the same but what really starts to change and again opportunity from adversity. I think some of the really good positive changes is when you go through your pre arrival questionnaire etc online. You are now immediately given via email via the website. And if you have. I believe in apple both an google device you can add sort of your your pre arrival booking form that used to have to print out and sign and bring with you and take out of the terminal it now as part of either your apple wallet or google wallet and that. Qr code that you're given is sort of like your magic key entry point that helps you get in through a lot of the prophecies..

I boarded the ship once again. Maybe with just a little tear or tears of joy in my eyes in order to share review and really bring the experience to you as you may be thinking about taking your next order i cruise on disney cruise line. And so a lot of these other cruise lines had already started doing testing so that there wasn't as much of a spread on board especially when there was unvaccinated. people present. all right newspray number four chris. We haven't heard from you yet. Yeah so disney cruise line has updated where they're gonna stop in the bahamas. Basically they're stopping. Cast wiki a bunch so disney dream is made additional modifications to its sailing Through the end of october now four night cruises on the disney dream are going to do to stops and then three night sailings will do one or two stops. You're lucky you might get a double dip Through the end of october the fantasy is supposed to start selling on september eleventh Out of port canaveral. Her initial sailings are gonna future to stop castaway cay consistently because she sales longer itineraries but deals hoping to get her up to full seven night sailings in october So that would be the longest sailings d. c. l. has done since they started sailing if they get to that seven-night sailing status by all of its pending conditions. Right now it is much easier for them to get people on these shorter cruises than longer cruises and so stay tuned to see if disney is able to send out some seven night sailings. "But someone goes on their first. Royal caribbean cruisers. A lot of things that go on in terms of planning and expectations and whatnot. But i think it's always a little bit different when you've got someone who's trying their first royal caribbean cruise but has actually done a lot of work. Learning about royal caribbean before they actually ever go on their first crew certainly advocate researching and learning about your cruise before you get on board but in this particular scenario we actually have somebody who was quote unquote working in the space learning about cruises and then kinda then took her first cruise. It's kind of an interesting dichotomy and we're gonna talk about that today with our very good friend. Jennifer rely podcast. Thank you bet absolutely and Jennifer if you are unaware actually does our youtube video editing. She's our chief editor. We're gonna really cool title for your general life. Viceroy of youtube editing. Or something like that. Yes that would be good. And when geno when we've been i've been working with jennifer about a year now and when you first started working in the you would never been on a royal caribbean cruise. But you finally went on a cruise for the first time on. Roker ms mariner. The sees a four nights sailing. That i was on as well. So let's start before all this channel. Let's go back about a year ago and you've never been on a cruise before. Why had you never taken a cruise before. Was there any particular reason or just never got around to it. No there was no reason really. I grew up in ohio. And i had a pretty big family so we would usually just drive to the beach for our summer vacation or or go to various parts of the midwest Side never really thought about it. Too much I do have an aunt and uncle that live in port canaveral so they always talked about going on cruises and it always seemed really find that this never. We never debate as our family vacation. So i guess going and being becoming an adult it was something i had thought about much yoga. So just haven't got around to it kind of thing. And lo and behold to get an opportunity to cruise now again. What's make this interesting is gentlemen. Would edit the youtube videos and what that means basically is i would record the audio for the video and i will talk about whatever jenna would listen to it and piecing together and i think that created in in my opinion. It seemed like it would create a certain expectation or certain observation if you will about what cruises are for you having just simply edited them in certain bits of information. Kind of stuck with you. So you know going back to when you were leading up to this i cruise. What were your thoughts going into it. How prepared did you feel. By virtue of the fact that you had essentially learned about real derby through osmosis. You kind of just like absorbed a lot of information inadvertently. Yeah i actually felt pretty prepared for it. Just because i had the videos for close to a year and we do two videos a week will now three with the q. And i live spec to videos usually about eight to ten minutes long of about tips and different tricks with royal caribbean side. I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. However a lot of my visual knowledge came from the video clips that we use that are provided by royal caribbean. So the very marketing focused. You know It's kind of what they want to show. So i was curious to see what the experience was actually like visually. Not looking at the video footage from royal caribbean and seeing things with my own is absolutely and this was a four nine crews mariner the seas out of port canaveral. We went to perfect kooky nassau and we had a cd. Let's start off with the embarcation process. Kind of difference on these brand new for a lot of folks including yourself of course with the pre crews testing the check in times What was your experience like with with check. And how did you. What what did you think about that whole process essentially from leading all the way up until you actually stepped on board the ship. Write the check in process was fairly easy. I had a couple of technical problems with the royal. Curbing apt which i was trying to figure out but is scheduled the cover tests ahead of time which was easy then but now i think it's more in demand so you might want to try to schedule your cupboard tests even more in the future than you think you have to And then i got to the cruise terminal. And i had a cps card for my sister or the set sail. What's the boarding pass called so so pass. This set sail past. The i had it for my sister. But it wouldn't show up for me. So i had to kind of ask them why not had a couple of technical problems but other than that. It was really easy. You know you did the little wellness check at the terminal. And then you pretty much immediately boarded the ship that gave you a wristband if you're vaccinated and then at trae slit for contact pricing and neglected to mention that your sister was with you on board as well so that did help you kinda have somebody else there and against someone else's brand new to cruising and and she knew nothing before i knew i knew more because i've done the videos but she didn't know anything. Okay that's good. I mean it's kind of funny how you're kind of like a little a little edge on her in terms of her of knowledge about what to expect even though both of you there on the exact same amount of cruises so you get to. Let's talk about your statement. You had a balcony room. What you think about it was it. Was it what you thought. In terms of size amenities. What were your thoughts on all that. Yeah i loved the balcony room. I thought it was great size wise. I think it's pretty standard. I'm not too picky about anything really in particular so it was good for me. There was a couch their desk area in the bed and i really liked to go out on the balcony. I wasn't on it too much just because we are doing so many things throughout the crews that we did get room service when morning headed on a balcony and that was really nice so overall i like to the rim or your thoughts on the stadium attendant. How that how that all went. Because i'm just curious again there. There isn't really anything like that on land where you've got somebody who comes to your room twice a day and you know sets your fixes your room essentially twice and it's a lot more personal when you stay in hotel even when they come once a day is pretty rare you ever see the person and or have any kind of conversations with them but talk me about what your how that all went and kind of how that did it meet your expectations and kind of what you thought about that whole process. Yeah i was actually surprised. I didn't know that they Because we got a knock on the door. A little bit after arriving in our superintendent. She introduced herself. She was actually from brazil. And i speak some portuguese so we were talking a little bit And yeah i mean. The room was really clean. I didn't see her too much. Because we were pretty much in. And out of that room rushing around the ship the whole time about. I thought it was a nice nice touch and i had a lot of camera equipment everywhere so she was able to. You know fix up the rim and make it nice. Even though there was a lot of equipment around absolutely that makes sense so mariner of the seas obviously a great. I've been on there so many times. I've lost count already at this point. What did you think about the ship. I know we talked about this. When we were on board i was i was kinda curious. You know it's when you see these. Things are only in photos or video in this case you know. I don't think the scale is ever is easy to grasp. So what do you think of the ship in terms of its size. Was it what you expected. What was What stood out to you about mariner the season the most right So i had seen a lot of marano. Disease aerial footage from the drone. that row. Curbing has so you can't really get the true scale size just from looking at that so i was pretty impressed by the size. I have no expectations from previous scholarships or anything. But i really couldn't believe that all of that could sit on a ship and it could still float So i really liked it. I thought there are a lot of activities for kids and adults And all the different venues on board like the ice skating show and even like the helicopter patent of front there were just so many areas to explore. I thought that four days maybe wasn't enough. Maybe one more see day. We would fully kind of seen an experienced all of the ship. But i was impressed by the size of it if you if you could magically transport yourself to one place on the ship right now and spent an hour there where would you wanna go..

So we put in place holder cruise because we rescheduled so many times and it just happens that it is in august on the disney dream so we are both kind of still in shock and still maybe won't believe it until we're actually on the ship sailing on the weird super excited ago. I'm so excited for you. And when are you traveling. We are scheduled to sail on august. Twenty third on a four day disney drinkers and his traveling. We were crews junkies for disney cruise. Junkies this'll be my fix disney cruise now and brandon's fast. He'll be gold after this cruise very excited and now super equality the yeah. We're we're just so excited to be back on the cruise and sailed on the dizzy dream before. I know you're done in florida so the dream can leaving at a port canaveral as if you've been on before yes so this will actually be our returned dream. We sailed on the dream many many times so are very much looking forward to it and we kind of joke that it is our home cruise ship so super excited to be back on it. I love that i love. Everybody has their own ship christie. What's yours. I think i know but it was definitely the fantasy. So it's the one i was on the most have been on the most. I love it of course pre pandemic i was supposed to have crews on the fantasy in twenty twenty now it probably will be a shorter cruise because it's just easier to get away for a shorter period of time than the plan for that whole week long. Yeah you're going to be spoiled by the wish and wish wish wish over on the wish again. I hope it well. We're going to talk about your check in process. Sarah you know getting ready for your cruise on the twenty third before we jump into and you've got a lot of points to make a really appreciate you coming on and doing this before we jump into it. What a dc. All what crews provide you have. They provided a lot of information through emails are. How did you get some of this information. We're gonna go through. So i won't say that for pre long time. Disney was pretty quiet about the information about the crew. So interestingly enough our cruise itinerary changed a bit and so we were slated to do a day at sea on nassau. And then i cast way key and just about our would say how forty days before we sailed someone in the cruise group. That i'm in said. Oh my gosh are temporary has changed. Now everything's revoz. And oh now i see we have two days a kaseke and so none of us had heard anything for disney and like just real. It's just happening. If that a thing so that was adjusted and then i would say about forty hours or so at that. Rejected official emails from disease aim. Hey great tanneries changed. Here's why And just gave us a little bit of information about our activities. Things would be rescheduled. That was super helpful. But after that we have not gotten a ton of inflammation. Yes i think. It's even in the beginning of september that it's continued on and i am so jealous I kept staring in steve utilized I'm trying to get on one of these cruises but my son will be back in school. We have a million other trips plugged. Work is kind of crazy Probably shouldn't be trying to escape. But i really wanna go on one of those verses. It's so tempting right. I mean especially because the double dips do usually cost quite a bit of extra money and they're not always as comment and so yeah i can. People were pretty excited when it's doubled up. The double-dip is definitely a unicorn. Life they'll have one in the summer or sometimes they'll do a whole summer of When they can work it out but they always are more money or the fantasy house. A double dip coming up over thanksgiving which is like a solu- kidney type price situation. So it just. It's a unicorn it's exciting kind of hoped ours becomes a double dip in november as well. I shouldn't say that that you know what. I shouldn't say that we did it. We just did a poor adventure series on nassau with zach down in atlanta and He made some good points. There's some things that we'd like to do. Ask us actually. I hope we do do that. Okay so let's jump into some of your point zero one of the things that i think this. This first point is really good where you say. Bring your patience understanding kindness. Yes i think that's really critical in everything in life right now. Right things are really things are changing and certainly traveling going on a disney cruise. Gonna be no different racers big bumps in the road. They're going to happen as they transition they adjust to relaunch the cruises. Things are going to adapt and adjust on. We've seen that on the magic. They've adjusted and change there. So i think being flexible being understanding being patient and being kind really goes a long way both for your own sanity and for of of all the people who are involved cast members and all the other guests just had john who he and his family sailed on the magic and they had one main show in the theater dizzy dreams and then as soon as he got back they added tangled to now. They have tangled in disney dreams. On the magic right now too so to your point you know. Things can change daily and made even early as the is disney tries to get things figured out as the ships start sailing again. So you're also a member of.

"Maybe on a weekend if there was a difference. But i didn't really notice a difference. The beaches were always pretty crowded. You know because we were at the beach a few times. I mean you can always find a spot but there was definitely a lot of people and you just kind of had to be ready to to wait if you didn't get there like first thing for example when we went to diamond head we want into park like in the parking lot which is really small and we got there at about eight thirty and it was full so we had to kind of wait they. Let's wait and a little line off to the side and we had to wait about fifteen minutes for cars in front of us to each spot until we got a spot. So there's definitely a lot of foot traffic on island right now so you kinda just tied to be ready to wait for almost everything you did. Unless it was like a book scheduled tour you know it was just. There was definitely a lot of people but you did find eventually parking each place that you went. That's yes sometimes. You decide to wait for it but yeah we definitely able to everything we wanted to do. It was never like waiting hours for anything you know. I mean we couldn't have done that with our kids. They wouldn't have tolerated it so everything was accomplishable. I guess making up a word within the real star of the vacation would be ally so you did. All the tourists deep eggs did the sort of waikiki. Anna wa who experience but you went into mostly just stay at alani which you saved the back half of the trip. So tell us about arriving. I don't mind you. And what was that. They like in before you do that before you do that. I think that you know being a deal you know show. I think one of the things that people really get excited about when they pull up to the port in port canaveral in they see the dream fantasy or whatever it is and you see the magic in the wonder kind of off in the distance. I think alani has the same magic. What was that like christy into chris. Question there you know as you arrived. I think i was probably the most excited about it. I kept pointing it out so the kids and they're like oh that's nice but i was. I got that feeling. Oh my gosh you can see it off in the distance and you know you're kind of like getting to that part of your trip that you've really maybe been looking forward to so i think a lot of people probably do the same thing like even if it's not for as long time but maybe splitting their trip so that when they get to alani can just kind of enjoy the resort and not worry about you know being on the go everyday so definitely do get that feeling kind of driving up and when you walk into that lobby which is all open air.

"So the crew just delighted to be back on the only thing. I did hear that they thought was going to be difficult over the course of the summer than not allowed off the ship until ow. Wow we we know that when we pull stops on some sort of rotation they get down and they can get off not allowed to do that at all. once they're there in the bubble on the ship they stay in the bubble in the same way as soon as we've been tested at the port said what from that poll testing building. We could see the ship. We could've have walked in ten minutes rather than doing minute. Bus ride through the traffic that they wouldn't let us walk because we were in that bubble and they knew we tested negative and we were safe so that that keeping the crew on board for the duration. So that's gonna be mentally challenging for some. I should think logistical part of my brain. Wants to know. How do cast members get prescription medications. How do they get like the snacks that they like or the the things that they would normally run to. Cvs when they were at port canaveral that they can't do anymore so for one. I believe they so like an port. Canaveral they can still get shipments because there's a couple of people were following on instagram. That get mail and things like that. But i can say that. Prescription medication is all issued by the shipboard doctors. And i know this. We didn't talk about it. But i actually forgot like an idiot medication that i had been taking that i very much needed to keep taking during my three day cruise today crews on my lure crews i had to go see the shipboard doctor that first night. They have a lot of medication because they are the ones giving it to their employees they're crew members for the summer announce for snacks..

"Is that right it changed. I don't really know what i would say is use a credit card versus debit card. Because they're going to do that. Like at walt disney world where they pull that money off of your account that holding period to make sure that you have money to cover your bill if use a credit card and you have some space on there even if they charge it they can put it back they can do whatever it's not due tomorrow so you have minute. On the first day i stay with my yeah on the first day to sign up on the first day but then what you realize is that like a half attacks messages. Fifty megabits as not. No you can totally get away. How to turn off your refresh blah blah blah and your background blah blah blah on your phone all the things all the things so that you don't burn through one hundred megabytes in one second by opening up your phone to that end if you're like me and leave seventeen thousand tabs open in your safari on your cell phone. You're going to need to close all those before you go on the cruise so be prepared to do that. It's very sad. Because i like to have all mine open. You can get through an entire four day cruise on fifty megabytes instill even randomly posted social media. "A heated discussion that we had when you first get onto the ships. I was under the impression that they were open. So that like adults without kids like us could go check them out like that first day. Is that true or do you have to have kids with you is true. But it's it's like is the reason so adults like us can check it out not exactly. The reason is so that parents with kids can see what their kids are going to be doing for the of the cruise. But i can tell you that. Seth and i have still been the adults without kids running around the kids tub looking at all the stuff so you don't have to feel weird about that. Also if they stick with tradition it will have the coolest handwashing stations. Where you put your hands in this little machine washes them for you. So there's fun stuff like that but yes it is true that i'm on sale away day and usually at a couple of other points throughout your crews. They will have what they call open. House a not means that anyone of any age can go into the kids. Come and check it out. Think we thought that until we watch that. Promotional video for the wish and that imaginary was very strict about this for kits and so i didn't like her delivery ensure the slide is just for kids. I really highly doubt that adults are getting on that side anytime soon. Because something's gonna get stuck and then that will ruin it for the rest of the kids. But anytime like chris was saying that says open house and you should look because there is open house almost half the time in one of the clubs. There are the popular hours like in the evening after dinner. Around all that time where they'll have the whole clubs open because they're jammed with children but then some of the times half of the times during the day or whatever the only have half of the club open so then the other half and again like steve said. We don't know exactly how it's going to be divided but because disney is still mentioning an oceania club but an ocean. Air lab that to me means that they are dividing up the club so you'll be able to then explore that area and you can pretend you're like your kids with grandma and you're just checking it out to make sure feel safe in your head if you want you can even tell them. They don't know that you have kids or not. They don't scan anything. Hey we have no shame in our game we purely just want to check it out. Brendan was just under the impression we went.
