Cheap Steaks (MM #3591)

"The minute with kevin mason through facebook and somebody in one of my memories of pages was talking about a place called york steakhouse. I remember. York steakhouse from back in the day. We had them in virginia. No they had them here in tennessee. And those cheap steakhouses. Like bonanza like ponderosa like western sizzling like the sizzler. All of those. You could get a steak really cheap. You get the full salad bar. It was quite an outing for young college student. Quite an outing. When you had a lot of kids in the family you go have a stake and it was darn right cheap. I don't know what happened to all these places. But they're all gone. Now i haven't seen a bonanza or ponderosa or york steak house or a western says lenora sizzler for a long time. But it just kinda weird what happened in our world at these places. Went away to other restaurant. Chains start making better stakes for the same price and they just kind of went away. I'm kind of missing them. And i'm kind of missing the memories. I gotta look down and see. Why my belly's so big. These days probably aided them way too many times when i was much younger.

"Right where he wanted it next to the pile when people think a city fire department This is probably the last thing that would come to their mind. Skyler is not your typical city firefighter. He worked for Wally Covington's Research Institute. For years. He collected data on forced throughout the Southwest and knows the dangers and unhealthy forest composed. The biggest threat for the city of Flagstaff is wildland fire the number one threat. Problem is, we don't see that threat for what it actually is. The 70,000 people who live in Flagstaff, there are hiking, mountain biking, outdoorsy crowd. And they loved that their town is encircled by the largest contiguous Ponderosa pine forest in the country. They like most of us, see lots of trees and think that's a healthy forest. But Firefighters like Skylar seed that same forest as a potential ring of fire around the city. The byproduct of 100 years of timber policy that promoted dense growth in forest management that suppressed all fire from the forest trick is getting the people of Flagstaff to see it that way. And unlike most of the places we visited this hour, they were able to recognize that threat and act on it. We have had this whole social change and Flagstaff from cutting any trees bad now. No, we need to cut. We need to take out some trees so we don't lose all of our trees, You know, landmark vote, the residents of Flagstaff approved funding to cut down trees to save the poorest. In their town. Was a forward looking decision to turn back the clock on the Ponderosa pines. Looking back in the past pre settlement times. This force was described more Savannah like Which is I mean, if you think about that thinking of Ponderosa pines and then like Savannah, like they said, you could ride a horse at 40 Miles an hour through the woods and not hit a tree. Now Skylar's team is turning this modern forest back into frontier Savannah. Most of clearing is done with logging machines. But the fine detail work can only be done with the painterly touch of a hand operated chainsaw. We don't want a uniform landscape. We try to make it what we call clumpy groupie. So we determined within a group. Yep, Clumpy groupie, and that's a It's a scientific term. It's It's kind of. Well, that's a prescription. Right? Yeah. Let's make some cookies here. I want some clumpy grouping cookies right now. So we're out here on the site, and we say this is a group and within this group we want clumps. Clumpy groupie is the opposite of a dark, dense forest. Lots of open space around clumps of trees. It's also fire safe if lightning strikes in a clumpy groupie forest fire sweeps along the ground, clearing underbrush, dead things and lots of little trees. Right now. The force still has dense patches of these small trees that would be explosively flammable. Young pines are sometimes called latter fuels because flames climbed up one tree. Jump to a slightly bigger one until they reached the tallest tree tops, and that's when a mild fire turns into a dangerous wildfire. But there's only so much Skylar and his team Khun duo out here to reduce the risk to people in property. Residents have to chip in to protect their own homes. As he drives us back towards town. We pass a neighborhood nestled into the forest and Skylar points out the window. Some residents aren't doing themselves any favors. You know, If there was a fire to start in here, this is going to get hot. He's stacked up firewood, all against his wooden fence that leads all the way to his home, and it's right up underneath trees. Basically, there's a trail of kindle ing leading right to their doorstep would say, You know where recommend sir is maybe not tiling that firewood underneath all these trees against this wooden fence that leads to your home way would recommend piling this maybe uphill slope and away for many trees. You know, in an open area, so if there was a member of the land in there, it wouldn't consequently burn up the wood burn up the forest, burn up your wooden fence, and then you're home. Educating homeowners, so they don't make stupid mistakes is a full time job here for Jeralyn burn in your last good. She's gotten that before. His Geralyn is a dedicated specialist at the Flagstaff Fire Department. Who helped neighborhoods adapt to fire some of the most desirable neighborhoods here,.

"You. Tony did voted with them. I voted you your name down Sophie Me Antonio both man. Why don't we get credit Why don't I get credit? Why don't we get credit right but Tony in him? I are this Jeremy. Get Credit. Jeremy your credit. Why does Michelle Gay Granite? Why doesn't she get Cretin Guy? Okay Chris Rosenstock wants to know where your thoughts about coca-cola being the quote Unquote Breakfast of Champions Successful author. Boston Rob Marianna seem to enjoy it Ethan. Seat to have a hard time with the burn. What are your thoughts? Yeah well I mean obviously Ethan has a lot to learn but the tutelage of rob I think he'll he'll get there. Yeah lots of soda for the edge of extinction returnees. Okay Brent lops is what did he say about Sarah. Winning the punters of food order honestly. What was so impressive. Her food choices. Why think it was? The amount seemed to be because there was the emphasis on four plates. So if it matters necessarily what you get it just matters how much you eat. It seems to be a volume metric and variety and variety. Yes because clearly Mama d did not understand that. Yeah let's see Mike Christmases These videos are dumb different team than who edits the episodes right is Nicks tendency to creep into conversations just so pervasive that had to be included here as well. I must be do. We know if it's a separate team that doesn't adding yes. So the person that does the ponderosa videos is a guy named James Seal. He always gets like credit at the end of these Ponderosa's but he does not work on the production of in terms of the actual TV show. Okay then I mean yeah. There's some through line here. This is just a just a trade of as from what I understand. I think he like shows up at like the merge like I think he's not there in the first half the season even and so he just comes in for a couple of weeks do the ponderosa videos. Second about you're talking about. Nick no without his. Nfl Much Star game more content at the merge. So yes yes so. I feel like that. For for nick year as like The game is one thing but here at the punt road. Seems like the only people that hang out with him might be Wendell. And I'm not sure maybe atom or you but there's not really any evidence to support that no I'm trying to remember. Adam was very fixated on not eating that much food so clearly. His mind was occupied. I'm not quite sure who who. Knicks camp friends were no. Let's see Lose with Sophie. Still trying to figure out what happened to her and it looks like she was on a steady stream of morphine during the final tribal council. I wonder if she had any memory of the final tribal council Her CLAP AT THE END. It should be a mean for all time Did Sophie I didn't get like a close up. Look at Sophie at the Final Tribal Council so I did see one moment where clearly just kind of slumping down where you can tell. She looks still looks like she's sick but I didn't notice that much it was definitely the where's Waldo of jury is because there's just so many people So just trying to find everybody and it's not like her to not be somebody who's very outspoken. In a setting like that okay now. The stage fright that That you know seeing that from soapy all right. Let's see anything else. That's interesting Kyle to who to the better Tyson impression poverty or Danny? Why think they're you know the the two sides to the same coin the the the safe or not safe to the fifty fifty coin? Right you gotTa have Tyson on camera. And then Tyson is the old man. Off-camera Leah Anyway. So we can improve the ponderosa videos assuming that we have Season forty-one and really what better place to have ponderosa videos than the old West Right yes. Survivor Wild Wild West. The Wild Yes. Yes When I spoke with calendar she said that we should go with make. Sure Recall Wild Wild West. That old West doesn't sound exciting as wild west. Yes I agree. He needs to while last to one thing I think about the song that we would get winters at war while Wild West. You could repurpose the wild west coast swing it. It'll be great. So how can we improve ponderosa videos? Like should we be like incorporating more like a like segments to the ponderosa videos? Ooh like everybody gets their own segments. Like do I mean they kind of have the you know getting off the boat food segment that kind of stuff. Yeah but I'm wondering. What could we build in like Different like segments of like Five questions or some sort of like Like every everybody like gives like a gift from the dollar store allow like Jeff like we start buys ver- bed perfect. Yeah so could we do something? Yeah I think that would be good. I think that'd be fun. You know you get more information. And maybe more coherent information out of people and so these segments via great way to do it. Yeah so I thought that I would be really good in the ponderous like I think I could be the MVP of Ponderosa Videos If I was like you voted out like day twenty four. I think you know how to make it entertaining. A lot of these people are still just kind of recovering and just doing with they an ivy. Not Thinking much about or is like you know that this is for entertainment right like me going on survivor and then pretending to do rob has a podcast like in on the beach annoy. Nobody likes me pretending to do rob podcasts? At Ponderosa. Everybody loves it huge. Yes exactly we could get you doing all the six hundred votes. Oh my God king do it on the show annoying. We hate you. Go Away Right. You just gotTa know the right place to do it. Then you can get get all the all the museums just for you competitive eating. What about that on Ponderosa? Ooh The way too. Yeah that way. It's actually a little bit more. Concrete with the rules. Are winning mass food order out. Yeah Okay is there any question that you had about the cast of the season that you feel like went on answered by the Ponderosa Videos? What about well now. I'm just thinking about the Joey Chestnut Moments Ponderosa. I don't think I want to watch that Let's see anything got answered? I think actually honestly maybe had more questions like a window and Danny relationships was very fascinating to me needed to know more about that. I thought that was very bizarre but I think it solidified the fact that the old school players really did seem to be pretty tight with one another and that was something that we saw on the season but then even more so in the ponderous videos. Okay will you be trying out spaghetti and shrimp for breakfast anytime soon? I think I have to this especially. We're still in an isolation so what better time there are no rules anymore. Because it's like a good idea. Okay all right we oughta anything else about Ponderosa. I think that's everything I had okay. Shower beer is going to be back in the rotation for you to shower beer. The young these Spaghetti shrimp shower beer dollar store rabbis. I've whole shopping list. Then I'll have to know there was a good moment. It was in denise voted out. She was on the pier and they were So what do you want and denise was like Oh if there is a corona no no denise doing? We're not doing that. No no thank you Mama D okay all right. Liana anything that you want to tell people to check out at all your podcasting. Well you can follow me on twitter at Cat Daddy love so I told my kids that Like I played the clip where Tony called me. Cat Daddy Law. They thought that was the funniest thing and then they were calling me cat. Daddy law like your fat daddy loves and they really like taunting me. I felt like Tyson weighed so it became an insult. Yeah Yeah Right now. I'm looking forward to when your kids visit you for the family visit on survivor. Daddy love what's going on cats and he loves so like what does that mean Cat Daddy. Love is such a long story. Can you explain the close relationship that must be shown through your kids calling you Cat Daddy? Love Yeah Yeah well and then I have around here like I have like all the like the like the puppets of all of the Survivors from Like stupid things that I do and the Anthony found like the Tony won any was like hey cat daddy loves taunts me favorite new toy careful at that all right. Liana of course. Bnb Yes okay. Actual actual plugged. You can find me on twitter at our H. P. podcasting. I know you have a preview of a professional twitter now a are. Jp twitter handle. Yeah so what happened was quarantine started. And then the scientific community for some reason decided to all start communicating via electronic platforms which makes sense including twitter so he started having people following me and I was like you do not WanNa follow these professors at mit like no. No no you definitely do not WanNa see this content so I did switch over. I have a professional handle well and you know semi professional hands very jp so yeah that one is out. Liana are H. AP Smart Yeah. I know I don't want to be tweeting. Cat Daddy loved to all my colleagues right right. And of course The rupaul drag race. Wrap up as well. Yes Rupa's drag race. Raba that we are wrapping up season twelve. But then we're going to start off again with all stars season five so that will be following right after and then the singer. Ralph up with Akili we are almost done with that. I think we have one more week. And then finally that season's over I mean that's been going on since the Super Bowl. It's been four months robbed for years. That's exactly how it feels like. We talk about survivor. Oh we need to hour episodes and the Massingir which doesn't even deserve to fill an hour worth the content for some reason gets four months worth. But we're still having a good time over on the podcast making fun of everything so check that out and then there is supposedly going to be back for season four in the fall. So we'll see okay. Are they all come out and said we will be doing massing or no matter? What not in the same with the same type of fervor as Jeff but did release a little promos says they will be back in the fall so we shall see what that me if you end up scrapping. The studio audience is probably like one of the easier shows to to do. I mean first off like By definition These players are wearing a mask. They are literally math. Sing space out the judges and I think that that show is is an easy one. Yeah I completely agree and they have to stay isolated anyway so it just it rights itself Yeah so that's actually pretty easy to to get back on schedule so We'll see we'll see we'll the was so fun to go through all these ponderosa videos With you that you think the people had stayed throughout the entire ninety minutes of talking about Ponderosa videos. I don't know if so I I'm here to help.

Said it because he sounds like he's he's responding to Selfie? Let me say question. Who and Sophie. Tony did you your name down Sophie Me. Antonio both man why. Why don't we get credit? Yeah I don't know the Boston rob during now is the most interesting part is in. My perspective is the ordering more Seafood I guy over here. Yeah I don't know where Nick is going. What his point is why he saying this. It was all very confusing. I don't know That's then that's a wrap for neck. Only we hear from him again. Yeah there was a knicks. Those the apart from Nick in with the women Clinking their glasses toast together at two moments ever noticed nick. Hey Hey hey. Why didn't I get any credit in this coast? I was right here. Was I'm a man to man and neck? Yes okay so Mama D is GonNA retire to Her quarters Anything else from a Mamadee. It really was the relationship with Kim Sophie. Denise that moment with all three of them having a coffee and I think it was kind of the next morning so it was after this really intense night a discussion that was happening and just seeing their relationship. The three of them together. It was amazing. I talked about this earlier but it was just really cool to see the three of them. The Legend you know FEMALE LEGENDS OF THE GAME. All all talking to one another twenty three twenty four twenty five so you thought Robb. They would've worked together side all off. Ponderosa predictions came true. "That's called breakfast Important meal I'm sorry. Which one is it? The French fries is that what you think is weird because you just have home fries the same thing eggs toast bacon French fries. Not that weird of a Combo. It's not exactly shrimp and Spaghetti for breakfast. Who would have thought that would have been the weirder order But Denise Yeah Oh my Gosh. That's so crazy. Yeah even when she came back to eat the the other players even commenting on that she did not bring that big of an appetite. Who is it? That was disappointed what she ordered. Sophie was Sophie. Yes she lost. Lost the competition for the best order win voted out and Ponderosa. Yeah we ought there was also some things got tense with with denise over dinner like everybody wanted to know like things from the game like all the edge of extinction. People like finally got a chance to talk to a person that was voted out of the game here at the final six. They'd like a ton of questions for her. I'm not sure necessarily why the Scott so tense Yeah those the atmosphere was just very tense. Because apparently denise I'm sorry Mama De holds all the answers and so she's the one that's going to be cornered and then just nit picked apart which with all the details of what was actually going on you. I'm one of you guys. Wait a minute industry. I didn't join anything right on the bottom two. I don't know why you're looking at me so I wonder if this is the same night as the Sarah gender-bias conversation happened and I wonder how much of that spilled over to Ponderosa. Because there's one point where there is like a A tense moment with Nick. And I don't know if he is arguing with Sophie and I'm really not quite sure where he's going with this Let's listen to.

"Success fall strong. Good moment funny moment. Yeah he's like were they just like each other. They didn't realize that nick is there. I don't know because if the theme of Nick Creeping on conversations continues maybe he just popped up and like hey what are you talking about almost like Oh crap. Sophie was really fun in these videos. Yeah so feels really fun. First of all. It was nice to see that sophie was feeling better. I was trying to sort of put this in the timeline of like when things happened I think been filmed before she was sick right. Yeah I think sixteen. She's sick for the she mistake. Thirty eight that. She missed the tribal council fire. Yes and then. She was clearly not feeling great at the last tribal council the final tribal council so it must have been before that When she was in much higher spirits Yeah okay the next day. We see Jeremy Collins in the video entitled the day after where we see basically like the continental breakfast Ponderosa on day. Thirty seven or thirty six So we see Jeremy Waking Up Tyson and Competing and saying that he needs that. Big Bet Yeah. This was amazing because what was the whole thing with Tyson like Oh. He doesn't need this but then he's the last one that was still asleep. That was oh anyway. He was like bragging to Germy. The He's a party guy. He's only slavery hours since he's been there and then he's like Having a hard time waking up yeah and then. Jeremy GOES TO WAKE UP TYSON. Like kids waking up their parents on Christmas morning. Just jumping on the bed trying to get Tyson up. I don't know what his exit strategy was there. Jeremy does he just Tyson up and as soon as he leaves it's finders keepers and Jeremy just hops under the covers. Not sure about that. He wanted the bed he he said he knew. He wanted to bed but Tyson was His counterpoint was that he needs to have a a big bad like this because he's taller. Yes yes and then. Jeremy says sleep curled up in a little ball inches. Adorable. Yeah So everything. Get ready for breakfast. Everybody's happy to have their coffee and everything is in a good mood. Boston rob has a unique breakfast choice. Honor Yeah this This was odd the spaghetti with shrimp for breakfast. This is all I've ever wanted to really. Why didn't you have that for dinner? I guess they didn't get to pick. They could only eat. What was there? Did He special order this? Yeah I think they'll make you special hours. They'll put out a everything but I think if you know. There's people that work there. They'll they'll make you whatever you want if you if you ask for it. This revolutionized the way I view breakfast fast I did not realize spaghetti and shrimp or even an option going to ponderosa is my dream that that's the that is the best like I really like. I don't want to be like the first out on survivor season. But if I'm like all right. And the merge booed is rob like oh no ponderosa of the three weeks rush. I although now I feel like I'm learning the dynamics of await if you're voted out on day twenty two guess what you you know. You're in the room with three people. And maybe you have the COT. Yeah that's a good question. What is the optimal day to be voted? Next level strategy voted out for Ponderosa Waxing maximizing your benefits most time with your own room. I think is what you're going for. I think you want to be around the time that Kim goes out where you can have a roommate that you like and then also get like almost like a I guess at least to Tony Weeks at Ponderosa. Ya wrestling behind. Count your days. Yeah Yeah so. There was a funny conversation. That happens between Boston rob in Ethan. How Ethan is talking about how he gained six pounds since they've been back at Ponderosa Boston. Rob tells that's nothing catch up past you are. You're my you're my inspiration. More way you'll you'll get this done. I hope I can look obese like you lead. Follow my lead skinny lot of shade on Boston raw between amber and Ethan. I did say he's gained nine pounds since on in the day he's Ponderosa crazy. It's mostly water but still and shrimp and Spaghetti and Strand. Yes it's yeah exactly. It's four pounds water five pounds shrimp and Spaghetti. So we see that Adam. He's only gonNA eat them off. Adams is going to gain the least amount of weight at Pronto. Rosa thing to from Boston Rob could be under the tutelage with two with Ethan. Maybe could learn to how loaded Adams. Wait get down. I think he was one thirty something your I think. He lost like twenty twenty. No no I think it was I. He started like that low. Oh I don't know but I couldn't believe what he's talking about like when he got done with money versa genetics. I couldn't believe how how how low he was. I want to say it was like ten. I think it was. Yeah it was something he was like. Oh I need those couple extra days to lose the extra weight some right. That's why he's picking and choosing didn't get those extra days. Okay we OUGHTA. This is where we see about windows comforter from the edge of extinction this is miraculously. Do you understand how this happens. Okay here's what I understand. On the edge of extinction. There was a lot of twine or like actually a very small amount of twine. Believe about five minutes before she pulled on the flag and then there was even less twine. Yes and he weaves together to build this massive comforter thing which then they went and got from the edge of extinction and brought to Ponderosa now on the one hand this was really cool and there were beats in there and you tell them people place the beat where you want on the other hand Where is this rope from? This shipwreck's rope like a. Where did this come from? And is it safe to touch? That's a good point Was it strewn about the island from the producer's like the bamboo is or. Was this something that actually washed up. It kind of looked like something that had just washed up. Yeah we found that that on the edge of extinction that Wendell slept under the comforter. Every night with you will and Danny and and that was his closest relationship in the game yet. That was super weird. That was almost like somebody flipped. A fifty fifty flipped a coin. Flip a fifty fifty joint and it landed on just two random people and it was like okay. You two best friends now. That's the brand steel. This a Wendell has formed a super close relationship with Danny like okay yeah. Their alliance is an eight strength. Yeah at least also Wendell annual Where they were sort of like going after other in the game seemed like they worked everything out on the edge of extinction. Yeah that's good. The comforter heals all wounds. There was a really interesting conversation between Kim and Sophie in the game and Sophie. I feel like that Was like she had some regret about how she didn't let Kim in in the game. It was like I felt like I felt like that I wanted. I wanted to open up to you. I wanted to go there with you. I mean she's Brandman like she's talking to you it's like. Oh Yeah I want you to be my best friend and and Sophie was almost like I couldn't do I as I felt. I felt like that. Like you get your. I'm putting words in her mouth but that it's sophie was saying like okay. I can't let her get me and so I've got the be closed off to her. Yeah absolutely. I'm just imagining if I was in sophie shoes. And you're talking to Kim. Spradlin who you know is such a good social player and is really really good at the game of survivor. You almost you force yourself to put up those walls and I think Sophie didn't realize that Kim had so few options and Sophie really could have been Kim's number one so she didn't allow that to happen so a little bit. In retrospect of once he realized what the actual relationships in the game are Kinda think? Oh Man I should have done that but I can't blame sophie for that because I probably would have done the same thing. I also wonder now. I would love to talk to Sophie about this. In terms of you know that does so fees like reluctance to WanNa work with Kim. Does she really like she was working with Sarah? But it's like okay. Actually Sarah was probably never going to turn away from Tony. Was that dead end to work with people like Sarah and then who were sort of like a always going to be more loyal to each other. Be The selfie will now that we know that essentially Sarah and Tony were never gonNA turn on each other. But they had purposely hid in their relationship early in the game. I think that yeah. It'd be like okay clearly. That was a dead end but at the time. I'm sure Sophie thought that she was Sarah's number one and so that's the relationship that you see perception's reality that's what you perceive and so that's what Sophie chose to go with Just not to like rewrite season. Forty but I feel like that If Sophie starts working with a Kim and denise who they seem to have like a really good relationship together like that feels like that that could have been like the core of something that might have been able to disrupt Tony Eventually. Sarah Yeah in my fan fiction of survivor season forty. That absolutely happens because once I saw how close Sophian Kenmore and then Indonesia's video throw denise in the mix. She was also close with Sophie and camera. They were able to build a close relationship. It hit it. Hit Me and my strong woman fan girl hard. This is what I needed in my life but I think this is probably the part where Sarah doesn't get enough credit where. I think it was like Sarah's Sarah's like relationship to Sophie and maybe also to Cam was what like kept them from like linking up to target. Tony like the Tony's at that point in time he's running around with you know with Jeremy and then at least always we saw in the added and I think that Sarah is probably the one like keeping like a counter resistance from forming by like having a really solid relationship with sophie and a good enough relationship with Kim and I think that's probably something that really helps like Deflect any attention. Oh yeah absolutely and I think also Sarah's relationship with denise to so when you sort of have that person in the middle that's telling every group or you know being able to squash that thought of let's target Tony every single time a fire starts to arise then you know that never is able to spread just the fire. Megan Jasper I'll take. Is that an insult out. Fires instead of making them? I don't know if you have a fire in your kitchen would wendell's comforter put it out with to say absolutely not would go up over. Flammable plan will walk right twine. "Horn? Mike You Mike. What what is you do in between no stop but he did agree to potentially get a soup tattoo which BNB themed. So I guess all in getting upset twos now. Well I think this would be one. That's part of the brand steel. Oh the is there a survivor soup. What is your yeah? I don't know if he's going to put words underneath that or something or just a bowl of soup really discuss the details but yes the was a lot of find with. Gabby as and I think we broke down a lot of different things. It was really enjoyable. Yeah okay all right. So we on a for the UNINITIATED Can you describe what the Ponderosa Videos are sure? So generally during the season of survivor when someone is voted out of the game they are leaving the game. they don't go to the edge of extinction they go to Ponderosa and they sort of get a six seven minute video. That recaps their exit from the game. you know getting weighed getting their first food. Talking with the other castaways that are there at Ponderosa. Taking a shower. All that stuff and it's sort of a nice little book end to their game in general now obviously with the edge of extinction here we kind of get a mass ponderosa video with all of the contestants after that last challenge to get back into the game they did this also for the edge of extinction season. Which didn't have the regular ponderosa videos. They had sorta like the group Ponderosa videos and it was the same sort of theme as what we see here with like a everybody got a big barbecue not a Barassie barbecue and so did you watch those videos. Liana wants from this is the order of extinction for the nation from from the edge of extinction season Jesse Susan dirty night. I think I probably did but I can barely remember what I had for breakfast. I can tell you about those. The only thing I remember from those was the barbecue and then David Wright was like showing off that he had like the book of every single puzzle. They've ever done the show that he was studying and then running people through the challenges from his book. That's the one thing I remember from the season. Thirty eight EDGE OF EXTINCTION PONDEROSA. Which is. I'm sure exactly what survivors WANNA do. They're finally out of the game. Oh No let's go back and do some puzzles okay. So that's what's going on. So basically we pickup this is like a big epilogue to a when we had in nine epilogue challenge. That's different where that you. After the episode they go up and down the mountain a bunch of times so we have everybody that is like A. Hey Natalie are later and then this is what happens to the rest of the players like players Sort of looking back. Not just on the game but a lot of the players looking back on their survivor career Well first of all now all I can think of is the dog epic log challenge with. Maybe we'll get to see at some point in the future but yeah. I thought this was really interesting because it really was a rap on some of the survivors games like I think it was poverty who said we know were retiring. We know were hanging up our gloves and it really did feel like Oh. This is the end of some of these players ever playing survivor again. And you kind of had this group that was content with how their story was wrapping up another group that may be seemed less content so it was really interesting to see the perspectives of these players. Once they officially left the game we're also going to learn a lot about the eating habits of the survivors as they come off of the edge of extinction. I feel like that We get a real window into like the most the specific food preferences of a lot of these players. I think the food got more airtime than Nick. Wilson is me Ponderosa Video. I got to see you rob Ethan Kit Kat bar which is something. I never thought I'd see in my life. It was very heavily. Yes a lot of food food. And so there's probably about eight or nine different videos that they were broken up into a chapter one chapter two chapter three chapter four and then chapter five. Was everybody like looking at their loved. Ones videos like much. The loved ones recorded videos. When they were Ponderosa and then there is video about the relationship of rob and amber is a video about Sandra looking back at her career and then there is a video when when denise shows up a video and Ben shows up video and Sarah shows up right so the Denise Bannon Sarah Videos are what the angels style. Yeah so but altogether I mean What is it going to be like? You know? Seventy eighty minutes of content. Yeah absolutely I think. Let's see so I actually somebody had compiled them all of intellect to big videos and I think one was fifty minutes and the other was thirty. Five so yeah it. Was You know a whole movie is worth of survivor? Season forty a lot of stuff. Okay all right so I guess let's start with chapter one entitled the way home and this video is basically the boat ride from not Danny Boat. Right the boat ride from the edge of extinction to Ponderosa right and you can see them you open up on them this montage of them walking and the first thing I noticed is they're all carrying soda cans so I'd like to think that was the immediate priority was okay. The survivors are done. They need soda. Will I can tell you just from my experience a this way in Amazon. I don't remember what it was like In the stars I don't think that they gave me anything on. But I remember that when I got voted out in the Amazon the gave me I think it was an orange soda and Orioles which is not like a great combination but I do think that they have that stuff like ready to go like the. When you're like you know they take you out of the game. You know you have a soft drink and then also some sort of like a cookie. But you didn't get choice. That's just what I feel like. I I really. I don't remember Very much but I remember. They told me that okay. Well you did a good job and We're having a party tonight. And they told me that they were having a Toga Party. Ponderosa's like Oh that sounds pretty cool and then they gave me an orange soda and then Orioles. But I don't think they gave anything all stars. I think they were just like. You didn't do a good enough job. You don't get a cookie the further. You may get that gets. That's what actually determines your soda and Cookie. Preference our choice right so you unfortunately didn't make it far in Survivor all stars was closer and their layout. We'll just give him something when he gets there like he'll be fine he's only been starving cap for however many day twelve days. Not that big a deal okay. So on on the way home and everybody is Eating Tyson is eating like seven. Orios at Oh. That was a great moment. You can just picture what Tyson must do after he gets all of his kids. Halloween candy and Mike Bargains in the other room and he's just like shoving it in his mouth. It was. It was very very impressive. This is also the moment. Yeah where we got Rob Feeding Ethan. The Kit Kat bar and and just them just going to town on all of the Candy. That was there. What were some of the takeaways that you had in the first video? I think the I think it was the line that Sophie said. She said something along. The lines of this is not just a celebration of the game. But if people's careers which I think then that continues throughout the the theme of the rest of these ponderosa videos that it was kind of wrapping up some people's careers and of course we get some Boston rob and amber talking about their family and relationship even though they get a whole video dedicated to them later but it was mostly the candy. Not GonNA lie. Yeah especially this is like this entire videos. Basically like them in the tent and then just sort of like a setting up how they're feeling Coming out of the game but just a lot less setup here in the first video. Yeah I it was interesting that they broke these up into chapters because I guess they were thematic but it felt like like just choppers at least one through four all went together. That was one story. Just you know no need for chapters in this fan fiction that is the Ponderosa okay. So we ultimately then arrive at Ponderosa where we have a bunch of food out and then people are going to start seeing themselves for the first time Ethan I thought Has Some really compelling content talking about how he's done with being a survivor? He's tired of that work right. Yes he doesn't just want to survive. He's a thriving arrive. Her love the rebranding. He's going to rebrand so he was one of the people that was like in the content crew. Meanwhile Jeremy talked about how he was not. Happy with How this experience ultimately came and went. Yeah Jeremy Really didn't seem happy all in all except for his few interactions. I think with Tyson but Wendell window was a highlight for me actually ponderosa videos and he was teasing Jeremy Calling Him gramps and Jeremy just like he was not having it at all which I feel bad. My heart goes out to Jeremy. Because this is the third time playing and you I want him to feel good about the game that he played especially because he made it so far and I think that a lot of us may be didn't think he'd be able to accomplish that. Yeah that I thought that Jeremy and Tyson ever more than more. Jeremy were the people that were like saw salty about how it didn't go their way I put Jeremy Tyson and nick all in beat not content group. I don't know. Why did nick talk at all about feeling like Ethnic is really purple. Nick in the Ponderosa videos. Yeah he really is. I think there's a little bit. Maybe in this one and then there was one moment later on that he seemed a little not super happy about some of the ways that things. Yes although we'll talk about that got comes up when Denise gets voted out so did they. Do we pass the part where Wendell talks about the blanket he made on the edge of extinction? That one was later. That's like okay. All right all right. We'll couple of we'll get there. Might notes are a little disjointed from It's like an episode from the extinction. Yeah we'd no. I mean we had briefly talked Valla out. Hey let's do a ponderosa podcast is like all right. Well how do we do this? What are we talking about? So they arrive at the Ponderosa and I was so happy to hear these words from Wendell Holland because we know that once about time he was critical of Chris no ball and he felt like that Kris Noble had no bars. Stop Trash Yeah but here he is. I don't know if he have to pay royalties because they want. They took this video down. Here is entering Ponderosa. Be So.

"AM So excited today to be visiting the State of Tennessee as part of our fifty states of slow flowers series this this year. And I'm delighted to introduce Laura big be fought of whites creek flower farm. Hi Laura Hi Deborah. Thanks for jumping on the line with me. Happy to do it. Actually we've never met in person but we've been pen pals for awhile. Well give give me a snapshot of where you're located and a little bit about whites creek flower farm because you're more than a farm. You're also floral design studio right right. uh-huh we are in a little municipality In Davidson County Tennessee That is actually called Whites Creek. It's quite historic. It was settled back in early. Seventeen hundred And but we are within the Nashville city limits. So we're this wonderful little the rural pocket Just northwest of Nashville. In fact we're twenty minutes from downtown. That's great for you because that's probably a lot of your customers are yes they absolutely are. Yes so it's it's perfect. It's a wonderful location. What kind of acreage do have we personally own? Three and a half acres But I also grow. I'm very fortunate that my next door neighbor is a gardner. At our local Botanic Gardens teakwood gardens and she she has a big wonderful backfield about two acres that she also lets me grow on. She's just thrilled to have flowers. Grown back there and So far has not allowed me to pay her rent. It's it's been a wonderful setup and it's completely it's it's adjacent to my high tunnel so it's it's great that's crazy. I mean it's think that you have that much. Access to land in. Basically the shadows of an urban market is a dream. That's wonderful so give us a sense of what you're growing Laura And you mentioned a high tunnel so you're doing field grown as well as undercover yes. Yes in the high tunnel. I'm growing tweedy a- and and Snap Dragons Louisiana this renunciation CALOS have a row of Eucalyptus down the center. Thanks Dave dowling. That's what he recommends what I've done I'm going to grow some both perennial and Annual sweet peas in there as well so So that's all the high tunnel I look for unusual varieties of things to grow Because I'm kind of a plant NERD. Hudson Great Yeah I do I do a lot of Do a lot of unusual perennials and things and I start so far. I've I started everything from seed except the bulbs informs I bring those in but everything else I I start from because that's just such a magical process for me. What is your season? I know Tennessee. I mean it's technically the south. I don't know what your zone is. But it seems like you maybe have a longer growing period than people mighty my suspect. Yeah we're considered mid south here. We're not the deep south right we're mid south and We get crazy easy wild swings in temperature so we can be below zero in winter but we can be over a hundred in the summer so We're in zone seven. Kevin Sound seven a and Yeah we have for farmers who do row crops. We have three growing three. You can get three planting I and the season so it's pretty long starting with the like hell wars and tulips undercover and things like that February we we can start having things in February and then we also undercover. We can have Mums and Dallas and and even some flowers late into November. Wow so you're still. We're here talking on actually on Halloween. And you're still you're still running around harvesting it. Sounds he's like yes. We'll take absolutely I've got MOMS and Since sunflowers and not a whole lot else right now and I will have until tonight because my values are in the field so tonight we're supposed to get a heart brost so they will be. They will be gone tomorrow Well thanks for taking a pause to talk with me. I really wanted to get you into our our a rotation and next week is Tennessee so aubrey so who are you selling to. And how do you sell I. I'm really curious knowing your proximity to Nashville. That you're you're you're probably have a lot of different channels. Yes yes there are quite a few different channels. I started out selling to Selling to the public and farmers market and I just felt I'm a one woman show so I kind of felt like that. That was the best option for me. The and when I started my son was still An elementary school. So he's still pretty young and I didn't want to be on the road with a with a bucket route trying to go out several days a week because I wanted to be available to him so I did a Saturday morning market and that at at one point I was doing at once by myself. Oh my goodness yes other people's staffing the booth or how are you doing that now with me and my little son and my husband of course would help out in the boots you know he would help load and unload and shirt you know help with the tables and stuff like that but Yeah so that I WanNa say it got old really quick but I did love it because I'm an extrovert and I love love meeting the public and working with them but that quickly led to weddings because people would stop by my booth and they go. Oh this is just just what I want my wedding to look like. Do you do weddings. So I started doing wedding design and then that became so profitable that I finally had to let the markets go because because they were really keeping me from doing the weddings and the weddings. What were were what with really paying the bills? So the I've heard similar narratives tips from others in the Cell Towers Community who had that. That's stair step approach with initially at farmers markets and then that led to requests for a wedding design. Do you find the people. See your aesthetic and especially at the farmer's market. They don't really know what to call it. They think it's like a wildflower look which is clearly not but the air there's something that is capturing their Emotional connection to those flowers and I'm just wondering yeah look. How do you describe describe? Your aesthetic does a designer I typically call mine. I even have this verbiage on my website an an English country garden. Look that freshly gathered. It's like you just walked into an English country garden and although I grow an awful lot if natives but that that also really resonates with people especially here in Tennessee because a lot of A lot of our original Citizens since here Trace their ancestry back to England and the Scottish Isles show that really resonates with them to say English Country Garden freshly gathered third So I tend to use that although when people say wildflower They also they'll think about their grandmother's garden here. We are in the somewhat. Were World South and they think back to simpler time when their grandmothers had beautiful flowers and they could just walk out the back kitchen door and cut the flowers and put them on the table. And I think that's why it resonate so deeply with people instead of romance of the handpicked bouquet and fact that they know you. And you're the grower so love that Ryan so how. How long have you had whites creek flow or farming in what led to it? I'm just I don't think I know your story well Initially chilly I was a singer actor. Dancer both my husband and I were and lived in New York City. Just push pests us. The singer actor dancer isn't it considered a triple threat dance. He was the least of the three definitely a Singing actor Oh my goodness with forced to dance. Sometimes you performed in in In New York in the theater world I did did we. We neither one of us. We'd been there several years. And and we were both getting seen for Broadway shows but not getting booking them and I I have off Broadway away credits. And he sang at Carnegie Hall. And you know we we. We just weren't making that step up and we were in our mid thirties and We wanted to have a child so so we left New York and We had a child we moved to Orlando Afford and had a child and Are Wonderful Son Burton and then Various circumstances brought us to to Nashville. Okay and my hus-. My husband is now primarily filmmaker and animator. He still does some acting and voice work and puppet tearing he's he's really cool guy But my son had reached the age where you know. He was a lot more independent and I was like. Oh what am I going to do. It's now community theater didn't cut it for you now. You know I just know I. Yeah I was ready to move on and do something else. I was out planting roses and we had bought this property and we were just you know spending all this time mowing it. And what can we we do with this. Property is crazy and I my husband came out and I was planning roses and he said you look so happy. Why don't you do something like this? And I came inside and googled flower farmer. And that's how I found your book the fifty mile. Okay Oh my goodness wow history so that was probably around seven or eight years ago or let's see that book out two thousand twelve. Yeah Twenty Yeah Twenty Eleven two thousand twelve. Yeah right in there. Wow what a great story. I you know that. Thank you for sharing that. That's isn't that funny. What how did we ever learn anything before the Internet for one thing and look? What's happened for you? I mean I can't quite believe you're a one woman show with access to five acres curse of farming area. I mean that's intended. That's not five acres broken out. I have about a an acre broken out. Okay but the across five acres the large Garden but oh my gosh I had five acres. I just I'd never sleep. Yeah you'd have invaded Laura one of the things that I feel like since I met you and I I I remember reaching out to you when you first joined slow flowers just because I had a A an aunt in Nashville who wanted to send flowers to but of course it was January or something and it didn't work out but that's how we first connected connected personally and I remember thinking there weren't a lot of people doing what you're doing at the time in Nashville but look uh what the explosion of the local flower seen Including people who create yeah including people joining flowers in in Tennessee. I mean what what has happened. And and how. How have you witnessed? That sounds like people probably contact you when they google flower farms in Tennessee. And you pop up. Yeah they absolutely do. And I've really enjoyed. I wouldn't say mentoring but kind of meeting encouraging A lot of the young growers so any time some younger has contacted me and said Hey. Can I come look at your farm. Yup come on over because there. Is You know automate so many mistakes. You May as well learn well and under two floors contact to Erlich. How're you? How are you seeing being things? Change on the on the customer side with Flora's I don't do too much with floors I've had a few contact me But pretty pretty much all my flowers were going to. My design started just growing specifically for things that I like to design the design with So but I like talk about the collective here about our collection. Just share your news. Yeah this is exciting okay. Great we've got so many wonderful talented new growers and designers a ton of new designers. Oh and that was another revenue stream it is it while I didn't sell to Florida to brick and mortars I had a lot of designers who would come to me and it was really it. It was really a cool thing because we could share design tips. There was no like Rival rear like that. You know I mean if they got a Gig that was great because they could come by flowers. If I got a Gig you know. I'm sure they would like to have had it but you know they knew that I grew my own flowers. So it's been a really. It's a really nice community of designers and growers here so I did sell to To the designers contact me but now the demand has grown so much with all the designers and all the brick and mortar that Several growers in Middle Tennessee have banded together together and we formed a COUPLA collective while we can pool our resources and sell directly Both retail and wholesale sale. And so what what is it called. Tennessee cut flower collective. Okay Great. We'll we'll I'd like to try to get uh-huh more information on that to share with people but you currently have a website and a presence on social media and that okay good. We'll share those links than did this happen about. I remember you emailing emailing me about this when it first started within the last year right. Yeah well it I think it officially we're doing our grand opening Next next I in twenty twenty we had kind of a soft trial period. Soft opening This year and I must say it would not have happened. Happened at all if it hadn't been for misty moment from Twin rose farms down in Murfreesboro. Which is south of Nashville Right.

"Is is really really wonderful I can call you know five or six people people that I live within twenty or thirty minutes of me and I have buckets the local flowers within a few hours. If I need them I either have to go pick them up or sometimes sometimes they drop them off but I mean I just I have everything I need really really close to me. And that's it's not. That isn't like a normal situation and So I feel really lucky for that but I you know when I'm traveling. It's a completely different thing. I have to plan way in advance and if I try to use is local flowers Honestly every single trip I've taken and tried to depend on local hours. It's been something that's happened where You know whether happened or season happened and the flowers that I was expecting weren't there weren't available and it's happened so many times times now that I've primarily have to depend on flowers that are that are not local and harder for me. It's just a hard you know. It's just a reality As you know and I do source ethically as much as I. Can you know do the research that can I work with companies that I know are ethically but I ask a lot of questions questions I you know if I'm going to try to go to places that I know I can get some local flowers like when I'm going to London for instance I know so When I go to flower market there growers there are there are wholesalers? They bring in lots and lots of local. So I asked that okay. Point me in the direction When I go to places that are a little bit more remote where we have to have stuff shipped in you know? Luckily there are companies that can work with that will ship mayflower sure Sure figured great. Yeah when I need it but it does. It does have a different aesthetic. It seems In some cases I'm sure you can make gorgeous stuff with all imported flowers. It's it's just a slightly different. Look than wouldn't you've got some wacky crooked stem Kim that you're grooving on. Yeah but that's really interesting and I think it's I'm impressed that you are Decision to open your classroom in Salem and perhaps have more Training and teaching in that region is because the availability. Well probably for a lot of reasons. Because you don't have to travel as much but but also the availability of resources that you can use for your workshops ups from local farms. This really cool. Well I just I feel like it's a responsibility thing and a lot of ways like me really leading into what I have here and being thankful for it a and saying hey tom experiencing experience the abundance what we have come experience. This like people shouldn't should be able to experience this you know and sometime in their lifetime because it's beautiful if they don't have it in their backyard problems come to a place where it exists you know and see it the And learn about it because I think the limit values a really great place to learn about About well the kinds of flowers that can grow together. I'm always surprised what I see right right and you know the thing that you mentioned them. We'll we'll valley. I have to say it's pretty temperate and in terms of the climate being temperate. So you probably can go almost to Thanksgiving and start up again. Maybe march or April. It's a little bit winters shorter. It seems yeah and not as a fierce. It's pretty mild usually watch now. This will be the worst winter ever on record or knock on wood. Yeah Yeah I mean we have similar climates here so you have winter pal. Your your Winter Palette though is more muted and more quiet and but I think you design beautiful items with that absolutely absolutely. Well I'm just excited to see what happens to your with your school. Can you talk a little bit about what you have coming up in the in the twenty twenty season. I mean we're almost choosers. Well three-quarters yeah Yeah I ah. We're announcing our dates this weekend. So I guess by the time this airs they'll still have just been announced And we are yeah. We're are releasing winter date soon and I am hoping that they sell out quickly. I'm that's always the hope isn't it but yeah We're GONNA efficiency doing after classes. It's here in the classroom Here in Salem and I'm not going to be doing any international retreats next year because I really want to focus on building building this classroom and making it making it everything I want it to be They don't already is what I want. But it's really you know. Having more people in Harris the more people we have in here at home I feel so yeah. That's our goal is less wonderful classroom and we'll have lots of masterclasses is that we're teaching out of this space Most of them will be one or two days so people can kind of you know take a class and then get back to their normal life. it won't be as much of a retreat setting. I don't know I think for me. Taking a break from the chiefs is important Just because I have to. I'm going to be focusing. Hang on like I said creating this atmosphere here in Salem and also I'm starting a book so I'm going to start writing that this year. Oh my gosh. That is so exciting. I can't believe that are you What can you tell us about it? Will it be designed book or that's a good question it well it's it's in cross us so It will be about color. I believe that going to be about color. Lovely and obviously flowers will be a part of it. Yeah I guess you will be in creating all the visuals for the book and design spy you will be featured in it you. Well that will have to put. Okay I tell you what Katie when the book comes out. We'll do another. We'll do another conversation. That sound bud and then you also are continuing you in your online presence with education there right. Yeah Yep it's really important to me to stay active in Instagram So I will continue. Did you do the live videos. But we've also launched a live video platform I'm kind of calling it the net flicks for Flores Because that's essentially how it's operating I'm Developing videos every month and releasing them on there and then People can access them anytime. I'm an growing library of the to`real and meditation they do far meditations at how to's and conversations and and I don't know it's really good resource Really proud of it and we're GONNA be working really really hard this next coming year to really grow grow that that presence Grow that community. Because it's it's pretty beautiful already any proud of it and people can access that at your website right. Yeah they can't and find out info on my website. Gosh this is really nice. Thanks for letting me take time to talk about that yet. I want to ask you just before we wrap up describe. What a flower meditation Asian is? I'm so intrigued. Son's yeah well you know I am not a person that can just sort of sit and try to think. Think about nothing I that has never worked for me So when or to think about to empty my mind like that's not something that works for me. So every because I'm an imitation practice I find my my mind wandering and not able to payment down but what I discovered with working with powers is that when I'm working with lower my mind is empty of everything else Usually usually the kind of intense thoughts intense feelings that I've been experiencing throughout the they kind of go away or go out as I'm processing to my to my hours or even the good feelings that I'm having I call is that when I'm designing with flowers more than any other time and so I was doing it. Just as a kind of a natural practice for myself and recognizing. This is my way way of meditating. This is how I do it and I always come out of those sessions just invigorated and with answers and feeling like I process this information really well and so then I started doing them without telling anybody what it was on instagram. Live and people responses does too. It was just huge. People loved that And they were really like. They were getting similar experiences that I was getting. That's wonderful. Yeah Yeah so then. I just decided that something. I'm GONNA continue do on it but it's nice when it could be somewhere permanent tooth so that the part of online line crosser that we've added. I think you've put a name or description to something that is so universal and that many people have as you said experience whether they're you're in nature or gardening or signing with flowers. I know I've had that same experience myself. When I worked on the slow flowers book it was literally the only time time every week that I was away from electronics and quiet by myself and I just got a little shiver listening to you? Because I know that feeling you're describing I and I'm so glad you're making it accessible and available to people who are seeking a way to kind of connect better with themselves and their feeling ailing so sounds beautiful. Yeah we we all do have access to it you know. I think we all know where that that space of creativity exists and when we can access that just for ourselves as flowers of the medium. It's especially good But I you know I think that for me. That's part part of what I feel like. I'm called to do is help people to be able to connect with himself and their creative voice and for me far meditation or that idea of creating and feed of prophecy. You know that that for me is the way that I get there I it differs for everybody but find that space is really. It's really powerful. It's really beautiful and definitely my passions interview people that IBS. I love it. Wow okay this has been such a fun conversation. Thank you so much for for making the time in your schedule and just bringing me up to.

I thought I treated it like it was a charity event coming off. Alex Gibb you know hit me up and thank you come out are Bro Window along and yeah. I just thought it would be like a fun charity event but them bitches was was out to play. I said Oh okay and I was trying to go home asked my biggest concern was like if I go out there. I it's going to be hard for me me to be a good sport because I was out of the car and leave and came together so he's GonNa have to Uber Home. This get filmed. Can we see the dead. Alex working with going to be a youtube somewhere. Alex is working on it but let me just tell you this so don't judge me by. I lost my cool a couple of because it was a lot and I felt like a lot of people were like Wendell ties. D- And it's annoying because bill is eyesight windows nobody special. He's like okay. He won Ghost Island Woo Aguila but I guess my relationship window. Seoul normalized as he's like like one of my best friends and so again survivor fan but I also forget when people meet window there who Margaret so so after we made the merge obeyed birds okay after we made the merge nobody wanted to work with me running the window so we we went to a travel counsel and I let loose and I felt bad because like I could tell window new being serious and the people that were there rely alight. Is he not how I'm like yes. I'm cussing you out but you know I didn't go home at tribal council so I got my bearings together but it was so much. It's fine like I had. PTSD came back to me because I was like. Oh my God this Kinda feel like you're real game a little bit and how hungry I am play again. I've never played any sort of game like that. I've never I've never not since I don't know how I would be. I think think I'd be crazy person. I never wanted to play because I'll be honest like I was like. Oh Molina and I went out there and play and then I think it was like a survivor Boston. I forget one of them. When my Adam Klein Sunday play I watched the Youtube of and I was like oh. This is good but I just feel like it'd be weird for me to travel someplace though when it was actually literally happening in my backyard where I go running at I'm like okay. I'm Mike could be cockatoos us a little bit yeah but now look at you that you are traveling halfway around the world that you're. GonNa play in another survivor. Game is in in South Africa Africa the Bush who and literally leaving like three days and so we're go into to benefit the night we had to get this or I don't know if it were not a look. Yes I'm going. I don't know who our neighbors their holiday. I want to get in trouble but yes. I'm excited. We're going to South Africa to benefit the nine lady Khorasan Academy as called like the survivor Bush and so it's going to be like us. US The US survivors I the South African survivors in the South African survivors been in my deums talking trash and I'm like I just won't be Afraid Guy I. I don't know I don't know if I'm eleven hours a lot but five days east in South Africa. The Bush is a whole lot so I don't know if I'm prepared for the and this is all for charity for a good cause absolutely it's benefiting. There's a Christian Academy. Then annihilating Christian Academy that all the benefits and proceeds are going to go today Christian Academy so I'm so excited I got my I bought a little pencils got ties to bring to the kids so I can't. I can't wait to see the kids I honestly I'm kind of more excited for the kids and actually played a game but fingers crossed that however I do in the game. I'm just not out there so the only thing that I can act for okay if you want more information on that worth playing for dot org is the website to check that out for the USA versus versus survivor South Africa showdown coming up all right but we have an important job to do today because we finally got to lay our eyes on the cast of survivor thirty nine and so today you and I are going to go through the cast photo guy and you without any preparation ratio. Pride are going to tell us how they are going to do in the game and make predictions on these survivors based solely on on their cast photo. If the lot is allow pressure. My deums been ringing in from thirty nine talk about where now I did. I will preference to preference this by saying I look at the cast photo but I didn't look at anybody's individual photo so I find that the individual photos really aww matters essentially because that is what you're projecting to the world high. You won't do now last season. Oh you and I took a look at all the photos you said that you thought the runner-up. Gavin had what it took. He had the look he was. He was right there right there. It's right there. You are so close I was close. You were so close you also definitely notice Chris underway underway winner of the season so he call you know more than my IRA but yes and so listen so this thing mind lab. They said this is unreal. This is young science. This isn't that he doesn't really know what's going to happen but look at the results prove that the proof is in the pudding not to pay the guy. I was going to do another pudding pot but I don't you yeah. We don't do that anymore. It can't over a fortunately okay but the approve so I'm excited and I am excited because I when I looked at the Cath. It looked like a nice diverse cast you know and all different shades colors and according to the twitter a lot different size for the twitter said they nice. I'm plump thirty thirty nine. Thirty nine is a plump season which I'm here for okay. They're ready because he you WANNA go into survivor with some extra pat. That's ideal death breath idea. That's what I would tell anybody to do and real quick. Look you know me. I got a story on a story but I won't be long so long. We were at Ponderosa for my season again. I wasn't thinking about that. I wanted to be slim and trim like we can't talk but we cannot fees had there and they you know you fhu com you can kind of go up and and the people that were like trying to pack pack packet on where Spencer and I forget the guy's name was his name. Gary who whatever his name it was like the big issue gear was they used to give us boil as as gear will run up and things like fifth boiled aid and that became an issue that people were going. I went to like the production like why he takes little aches. It's not enough oil. A fight about chicken's neck starts. Bentham will eat like two who plates lie at every meal and I was like my guy. He's so skinny like what and I was like. Oh my God. They're gonNA have diarrhea but you know for. That was just my little. They were trying to pack it all on me. I would just try to queue problems making shock of fit in to the Purple Pants. I knew the fourth Purple Panther podcast. I had to be popping hopping. Okay not sure if people at home can hear her. They come in and get us around they said do you want a hotel room. That's low or on a high floor. I said we'll give you a high floor because we're recording podcasts. Get away from the street noise. there's no no escape okay all right Brian. Also I got some holiday and express the field and this coffee is not not great really could use the southern Pecan. I was hoping that you had brought some hottest brought my little. What about I would a

"And so he's already he has that story baked in it's very hard now to slap a survivor thirty nine day journey on top of that. It's almost like that he's going through a now. Hey on now, I'm the cool broach. Oh, and that's how I'm playing the game because I'm all about this specific lifestyle of I'm trying to on the good guy. Now, the good guy who lost weight, and now and even in his secrets, I don't if you watch Ponderosa video, but he's very much. Like, hey, I played the game clean. I had to be a role model for my kids. And so for him to then flip around I think he was sort of like boxed in I think he. The perfect. I don't know if he told him about his weight loss and everything, but the perfect final travel council speech was all hidden do is break down and say like guys, I've never been more proud of myself. Like what you don't know is that this was not a thirty day, thirty nine nature anything. This was a two year journey. Spent the last two years like hit a plateau. Coming police officer. And like I've never felt like I've grown into the body that I created. But last nine days like I've grown into this Audie. I am the person that I've been trying to be for two years. I've proved I one these chat he has the story baked in. Deliver. And I think John right. Like John had an amazing story as well about like, you guys all see me as like the big whatever like honcho Mancha show. What do they call? I don't know the head honcho the wrestler, the mayor of slam town. Yes. Anyway. Dan, didn't do it for me. Okay. All right to each to each their own. I did like the Berta Ponderosa seen though, you did like I was gonna play the rules of being a broach. Oh to get your get your take on advertise. Advertise if you wanted to weigh in on that. Get excited Ponderosa before I'm excited about the episode Ponderosa. God I wish there were longer. Yeah. Yeah. They are so well done and there they're really and I do feel like with the punt rose video. It's like, oh my God. This is so good when I'm watching it. But like if you ask me like sort of a visual comprehension test of like what what did they say point? I think it was. I don't know. The music was good. The music was good. And it's a lot of like. Yeah. I feel like I can do anything now. But. Bake reality. It's like Kim Kardashian. Kind of like, let's have a reason a thing that we're doing each episode where I'm gonna go Elizabeth today. Talk about being a parent like, okay. I love that. It's really good. What about Davey? Davy? I mean, they've is also somebody who I can't quite boat my finger on I think David is like a happy puppy, right? Who has all these like son moments, but doesn't really know how to string them together..

"I mean, he, he would've loved her. I heard come out Wien very vocal about Verner and how that all went down and and how she was taking people out. I mean that he would have eaten at up if she had owned it, but she really didn't. She just she, I don't know. It was frustrating. It was definitely frustrating because she was part of a lot of those things, but that's how she presented it that she was part of instead of I was in charge of, I was leading the charge. I was coming up with these ideas and she she changed from the John that we saw an episode one and two to the John that we saw at the end of the game. That's where she stayed. She stayed that kind of even keel and I don't want upset anybody needed to go back to the the individual. We saw an episode one and two. Yeah, you'll this continued even mention taking credit for things because in polices Ponderosa video, she said John was probably one of the masterminds and we've already talked about how John said she was responsible for getting rid of police, but we didn't see John disgust that at all during the final tribal council, she didn't police anything to work with to support that idea. Instead, John's narrative seem to fit more with Tony's belief which she voiced in her own ponder OSA video, which was that John was just cruising. Yeah, and and I know John was when you had mentioned this earlier wanting to, she wanted to let the other people on the jury know that like you could be sitting here, but I am and you wanna compliment them as players. I get that, but you can complement them by saying you were threat to me. So I had to take you out. That's why you're sitting there instead of. Well, I'm sitting here because I was more lucky than you were. That's not going to help you. But if you, if you tell them you were great player. Like if she had told police like you were a great player and nobody wanted to take you out. And I was the one that said she's gotta go tonight because you were winning challenges. You were clearly stronger than most of us and you were, you know, socially playing a game, you're threat to me and my game. If she had done that, I think she would have definitely swayed some of the jury to say, no, what? Yes. She really is she, she saw the big picture and saw how we were all threat, and that's gonna earn you points if you make somebody feel good about themselves and realize I'm sitting on the jury because I was threat to you and you're sitting there that's a whole lot better than I'm just lucky in. You're not. And you know John to accredit admitted in the interview that she didn't own her moves in final tribal council as much as she should have. She now realizes it's a situation where you have to brag, but she was too self deprecating. She said on the show that she wanted the jury to decide the winner based on survivor game play. And I agree with her on that front, of course, but she didn't give them enough gameplay to go on..

"Not communicating with each other and they're just at ponderosa waiting for the game actually start so that's why i think this is getting a lot more emphasis in focus because this is the first time that that component of the game has been highlighted right and one thing i want to say you said they're not communicating with each other it's they're not verbally communicating with each other because clearly are communicate with that is true i should be i should be very specific in that you are not allowed to speak to each other but if you want to wink at each other a smile anything nonverbal have at it feel free can't pass know allowed to do that either but tab yeah and all of those things are noticed where you sit is noticed who you sit next to who you don't sit next to all of those things are definitely being paid attention to yeah and i i can't remember who was it might have been katrina herself one of them punched a not punched pinch the guys bought oh god i don't remember hearing that here and there were posing for photos wow yeah that's that's a strong move right i would suggest that either don't touch each other because i can be misconstrued so so going in your her tribesmates already had opinions on her and then they got to talk to her which as we've already discussed might have been a bit overwhelming so i want to use one example here because you are reitox about her views for a place in the universe and everything and.
