"Whether it's actually helping the female cause of being equal to men, you have to judge for yourself. X -Ray Specs quickly dominated the punk scene in London. The band's song, Oh Bondage Up Yours, became a feminist anthem. And in 1978, the band released its debut album, Germ -Free Adolescence. The band was featured on the TV show, Top of the Pops, and in a documentary called Who is Polly Styrene, which aired on BBC. Polly's star was rising, but the sudden celebrity proved challenging. She was beaten down by the pervasive eye of the media, a hectic touring schedule, and the punk scene's nihilistic outlook on life. She was misdiagnosed with schizophrenia and was put in a mental hospital. That's where she was when she saw herself singing on television for the first time. By 1979, Polly quit the band. But she didn't stop making music. A year later, Polly released a solo project called Translucence. The post -punk album traded electric guitars for Indian hand drums and showed off Polly's softer side. Around the same time, she fell in love with musician Adrian Bell. Three months after they met, they got married and went on to have a daughter named Celeste. The hippie spirit that Polly had ever since she was hitchhiking to music festivals at the age of 15 led her to the door of the Hare Krishnas. Polly and Celeste lived at the religious organization's temple in the UK until Celeste turned eight. After that, Polly's mental health issues flared up again, and she sent Celeste to live with her grandmother. Polly continued to write and release music, and she even went on to inspire new movements in punk music and political activism. Kathleen Hanna, lead singer of the band Bikini Kill, once said, If Polly's music wasn't there, I'm Not Positive Riot Girl would exist. Despite being such a pioneer, Polly never held another steady job after X -Ray Specs. She was famous, but broke. Her daughter remembers Polly calling it the worst of both worlds. In the early 2000s, Polly moved to the seaside in Hastings and reunited with her daughter Celeste. Polly started keeping diaries in which she reflected on her music career. She also recorded another solo album, this one called Generation Indigo. Soon after that, Polly was diagnosed with breast cancer. On April 25, 2011, just one day before Generation Indigo was released in the US, Polly passed away. She was 53 years old. Since her death, Polly's life and work have been revisited. The 2019 book Revenge of the She -Punks analyzed Polly's impact on the punk scene. And in 2021, Celeste co -directed the documentary Polly Styrene, I Am a Cliché. Polly's legacy continues for a new generation of punk fans. As Polly once said, punk attitude lives on because of the spirit of its fearlessness to try to change things for the better. There's a Wildness at the Heart of Truth

"A wildness at the heart of truth. And I think we have to be clear, I talk about this with regard to the Christian faith that if it is a state religious and the negative sense, faith, it's the kind of faith of aunt Polly in Tom Sawyer huckleberry Finn. It's pinched its feminized. It's moralistic. It is uncomfortable in the negative sense. It doesn't make a better man of you or a better woman of you. Or in the Narnia chronicles when they say is Aslan. Is he a tame lie? And no, he's not tame. He's wild. He's dangerous, but he's good. And I think that that's been part of the genius of America is that there's a wildness, but it's not an Arctic. It is a kind of wildness that is beautiful and that leads to great things. And I do think it's true that when you get when you get rid of freedom, you can become a socialist European country. And when you, you know, you talk about them having the rules in France, but all across Europe, they have these preposterous rules and strictures and regulations which crush freedom and creativity and actually crush the human spirit. Let's face it.

"It was crazy But not only that but they often know that I'm gender fluid At one point last year I had explained to them that I was not gonna flow as in mystery Lois just when I was not a boy or a girl And this was all I was good in October When I offered explained to him that I paged him so I am also aware and at one point I got my hair cut and I got in the 5s and I loved his face down and I come in the word ignore the children of those Are you a boy You have short hair And this is because there's no flow over the girl And a third child Know guys we've been over this Lowest is a boy or a girl Louis is a win All right holy smokes Dorothy We're not in Kansas anymore Is she a good witch or a bad witch No Lois is a gender fluid teacher That is polysexual And I don't mean her name is Polly I mean she's a pagan witch This is insanity But this is what's happening to children No I don't think every single child has a pagan witch teacher But that's what this one admitted to being that's what's going on here And this is the woke attack that's on our children in public schools across all of America

"The NASA minute. With Kevin mason. Growing up, one of my favorite cartoons to watch on TV was underdog, underdogs wheat Polly purebred shoeshine boy. Of course you all know shoeshine boy was underdog. But what's amazing to me is how little I really remember about underdog. The other day I read about underdog and I thought, I wonder if it's available on one of my streaming services. And I found it on Pluto or tube or one of those channels. So I decided to watch it, and the first thing I noticed, the theme wasn't the one I remembered. That was iron, was there a different theme where there are multiple themes? I had to do some digging. I didn't realize the underdog cartoons have been sold literally dozens of times throughout the years and are now owned by the golden book corporation. They bought it sometime in the early 2000s. And when they did it, they repackaged it and changed the theme. Now the theme is similar to what it used to be, but it's sung by somebody different and it's got a few different words into it. So ask myself, why would they do this? And that's the one thing I couldn't find on the Internet. Why they decided to change the theme why it mattered. Something changed with the underdog theme, and I don't see the point that we need to change something that had been around for so long. There's got to be a reason.

"I had the pleasure of watching some talks that you had given recently where you were talking about. What are known as the three proliferating factors. I think i have that right. Am i using the terminology correctly proliferating tendencies. What do you mean by that. And then what are they. Okay so i just out of general interest. I just want to mention the pali word for that. For liberating tendency polly's the language you know of the ancient buddhist tax because it's it's one of those terms that comes up frequently even in our modern discourse on the teachings so just to familiarize. I'll listen to that term. It's puncher and i like the pilot because it sort of as onomatopoeia sort of sounds like what it is. I'm it's just the mind for liberating elaborating from the bear elements of our experienced from the building blocks of our experience. We then build hold worlds and then get meshed in one way or another in those worlds and so there are three main tendencies which lead us in that direction. It's very helpful to become aware of them to distinguish between them and to learn how to free from them if not completely at least to have more wisdom in relating to them when we see them rising to let's basically what poncho these proliferating tendencies of mind it expands in quite a powerful way just the complexity of all lives particularly with regard to how sufferings created and how we can Become a little more free. When i've used the word historically. I must be using the sanskrit version. Because i have often said pro-panchayat it sounds like that. Difference between pauline since group which are very close. I love the term pro poncho or puncher. We're however you want to pronounce it or spell it and i've heard a translated as the imperialistic tendency of mind in. And that you hugh you take a data point from the present moment like you stub your toe and you colonize the future with his holy. Why am i always the guy who's stubs toe you know. This is gonna hurt forever and what you're talking about here. Are these three sort of runaway trains of punch that are really three of the main contributors to how we suffer as humans.

"We didn't know if we wanted to go full digital. He'll en route or an avatar leg. Almost twenty twenty version of the x are like on an animated character and think meantime when it comes to urging tag a lot of people have their own opinions on it a lot of union a lot of meetings almost every single meeting with leadership getting up to the point. They're like ra creepy. We want it to be creepy right. And when they see creepy rinsing uncanny valley without realizing which is when you're interacting with a being pay or avatar agent of. It's real or not and we can certainly talk about on the coffee test turing test or whatever we totally but for us we are able. Let's let's test it right leads to a very quick test and let's see if there is a difference between how consumers react to a pixar like animated character versus a digital humid and what we found through. That research was that there was actually very minimal. Difference on how consumers reacted to the face but the difference of were uncanny valley came through in the voice. They wanted the voice to be as realistic as possible. Which led list go into that because as fascinating too because with the voice. Yeah i think a lot of is about setting expectations. A lot of people thought that the this experience was going to be talking to zero or talking to your google home or whatever it is and we actually have two rows that you can t when it comes to the is each part of your voice tech stack and you go on daily. That's a devolve ways whether something google dialogue flow offers amazon. You know holly offers or microsoft or you can get a voice actor and you can have them free reward in different messages now. The challenge with voice actors is that now. You have to go back every time you want to update experience. You have to go back and breathe. Recording licensing is expensive talent fees. Things like that so we went our what is off the shelf. But what is the best version of the off the shelf that we can get it because it gives us more flexibility. Not because it's cheaper rate so when it interested in voice text act. There's speech to text the nlp engine and then text to speech so species taxed and all the engine. We used dialogue gould outflow and then really what was up in question. Was this text to speech. Portion of it i went through all the voices so we decided we ended up landing on. Aws polly neural time because the pacing was the most natural because for a while and this is still something. "What happened is i started cutting open. These specimens that had been preserved sitting in the same collection for five or six years. And i just started took a dribble cut off. The shell opened up. You know looked at the stomach. Contents and i was shocked to find that in the ten animals that i looked at two of those animals had plastics in their stomach. Gregg polly's original plan was to compare the diets of western pond turtles. Native to the creeks of the uc davis meriem with those of redbeard sliders that have been introduced but that all changed when the herpetologist from the urban nature research center at the natural history museum of los angeles county began to look inside the sliders. And then suddenly. I thought oh man. There's a much bigger story here. Which is that. they're ingesting plastics. And we know almost nothing about plastic ingestion freshwater turtles we know. It's a huge issue marine turtles. But no one's looking at this and freshwater turtles. Plastic ingestion has been reported over and over again in each of the world's seven types of sea-turtles. But there is another three hundred and fifty two types of turtles and only five studies have ever concerned themselves with plastic ingestion in those species. That's despite the fact that more than half of all turtle species are considered threatened with extinction. Turtles are among the most imperilled groups of animals on earth freshwater turtles around the world are declining in. So you're not in a researchers aren't going out in euthanizing turtles and putting them into the museum collections on a regular basis. You know we do that for lots of other species but we're not people are going to be doing it fraternals because it's just not the right thing to do from a conservation perspective.

Yeah, well, that's the whole thing was, they said copes they used. Walsh used to say he wanted to put Joe in a position in games where he would have a good chance to succeed. He was trying to build his confidence up. That was before he was passing on Tom Brady and the 2000. And now we're going after wall. They got the only reason that Walsh the only reason he was put in Montana is because, you know he didn't have Brady available, so you.

"Going to the conference championship? Until seconds later when they strip it out of his hands. And the Buccaneers recover. Yeah, that was everything. That was it, right. Hey! There you go. Cool in that Marlon Brando, No writer. Thank you. You fumbling in the late third quarter of one score game, buddy. That road leads to ruin my friend. Five plays. All it took was Tommy to go. Five plays for a touchdown that broom. That was well, how many times have we seen him? Do it like how many serious I've lost count. I even think Brady on the sideline, even though he never gives up. You know, it was like he knew they were kind of up against the Saints Go marching and if they score there You know, but we've seen the game like I gotta what? We've seen this too many times. You know another time He looked totally defeated and lost in space. At least I thought he did was during the Falcon Super Bowl when they were down in that game, the shots of Brady on the sideline he looked totally defeated. Polly, it was 28 to 3. How could I forget everything? I see it on T shirts. Dude, I can see it on Kruger's T shirt. Yeah, which is just fricking body. That's That's my point, though. That's my point. We've seen this soul many flipping times over the years. It doesn't really matter what the circumstances are until there's like about 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. That's when you got to really start paying attention to Brady's games. And that's when I usually snaps into attention and finds a way to win. He got just finds a way to win, finding snapping to attention. But again, I mean, listen, I get it. But I do want to emphasize he had less to do with it. Then the Saints turning it over four times that was unbelievable. Breeze was patently awful, and all you have to do is listen. I'm of the acolyte. My my Little League coach coach Andy you says, just make three fewer mistakes than the other team. That's the mantra in life, make three fewer mistakes and the other team. And that's Tom Brady this morning. Well, then he was he's cutting into his avocado smoothie, probably saying, Well, I guess we made it goes. I'm listening to Murph this morning, but I guess he doesn't know we made three fewer mistakes than the other team. It reminds me of what my little league coach Thatcher used to say. When you're catching a fly ball in the outfield. Make sure you use two hands because if you don't you'll run laps for the rest of the practice While we practice. I'll kick your ass if you don't do that, with the red windbreaker. Very intimidated. Probably the thing I left you with before the break has inspired some reaction for 08. Sting in Bosa for Watson F No. And he spells the F is very angry. Kobo sister No D line 775 says Hell, no, We ain't trading both. So I almost just drove off the bridge. Come on, guys. L o l Had brought two hands on the wheel. Now, when you're texting her two hands on the wheel, Murph, don't forget how many years did you and I do show? Seriously? How many years do we do Shows during football season where you and I would just look at each other on a Monday and be like the Niners? Just When was the last time they sacked the quarterback? They were still like seasons. What would go by where the Niners just simply couldn't apply. What's so funny was to watch Aaron Rodgers, you know, roam free. And every time I Erin's playing great, Aaron 20 this I'm like. Oh, really? Aaron was no problem for Nick Poster was picking Aaron Rodgers out of his back today. No, they owned they own Rogers. He was mister. I've never seen Just look more like he wanted to get the hell out of a building that they did last year in the NFC championship. I would argue that the Saints lack of a pass rush. Yesterday was criminal. I mean, Tom Brady's has been sitting there two weeks in a row. Washington did Buck so line has been playing phenomenal. They got him once they sacked him early. They got him in the first. I mean, you got to harass him all game that we got away. The Niners did to Roger's relentless all what is it all gas? No brakes. Didn't think where they all over Kirk cousins the week before that gas, no brakes, bro. Do they help? My home's in the Chief's down for 3.5 quarters better than anybody else as that we've seen. Yeah, for sure for awaits his Bosa for dish on hell. Nah, I like that. Hell, no. Hell, no, We won't go, 650 says you can't trade Bosa. Our defense is top three this year Had he been able to pressure the quarterback consistently? And then to announces, if the Niners controlled Bosa for watching in the words of the great Marcus Thompson, Man, Bosa gone, Alright, Closing out. Need poster out is out, 95 says. Here's my proposal. Two first rounders, a second rounder, 1/4 rounder, Raheem Mostert, Jimmy Garoppolo and Jovon Kin Law for Dish on Watson. No, no, no, no. What I'm saying. What do you say in the Niners are not giving enough for That's too much like that's just way too much way too much We're treating to Sean now like he is, like a slow slow down a little Johnny United right, and, uh and, uh, I don't want to scare with Hey, I was writing or more obscure one talks to you. Uh, isn't that enough to 1707 says no to both suffer. Watching Houston has no leverage for that. Trade is the only way it makes sense. If you don't think both, you can stay healthy and watching can there you go. There's some people have worried about. About Bo says health through the years. Meanwhile, I've also read to that if you're Houston, you're just not trading them. I mean, even though Adam Schefter is reporting that watching this so upset, he's pissed. Yeah, he's not taking no for an answer. Like he's gonna make their lives miserable before he until he gets traded, so and then already there was a It was a A group poured from Schefter that he's like in Miami because of no state income taxes. I got bad news for you about bad news for you, too, Shawn. They got state income tax a little bit just a little bit, so maybe that I don't know if that work..

"It's a long holiday break for me and Polly. I know you were on when we were out. It's great to be back with you. Happy New Year to the new CO clan on the Yuma Guess line. Good morning, Mike. Good morning. We made it three site without a 2020 2021 is, uh, Uh, Well, I would hope so. Right? Well, what things were going to be better and and you know, but I am back in my line. It's like, careful what you wish for. I mean, e wanted to get out of 2020 so bad and we wait anyway. All right, 2021 could be better. That's it. We can't You have to make up your mind to be positive about it, And that's what I'm doing. That's it the way Roger Craig was with Candlestick Park, and we're gonna just we're gonna will it into into positivity, right? It worked. It really worked that body in and I'm buying it now. Alright, man. Well, listen, A couple of major things happen in baseball while we were gone. I know you might have talked about him with Willard, who are copes or Marcus Thompson. But In general before we get to the Giants Little pickup yesterday. Just you're feeling like there was a huge thing in San Diego. What they did. They wouldn't got Yu Darvish. They went and got Blakes. Now they signed a kid from Korea who apparently can slug the baseball I guess Michael kinda want open by just talking. There was a piece written about how you know you've talked many times with us about that ice cold market out there and how it's just you're you're a little fearful of the collective bargaining agreement and the salary or issues that are going on and It's kind of one has big picture how you felt about the Padres going down there and swinging for the fences while the rest of baseball just it's kind of sitting out and in some ways, Mike, there's some teams out there that aren't even trying to compete like the Cubs, for example, dismantling like that so Did you have any thoughts? Just kind on the big picture? Um what? What It meant that the Padres were out there doing this, and nobody else is a fun system that dictated what they were going to do. I mean, you know, look up until last year, they hadn't been to the playoffs since Bruce approach. He was the manager in San Diego. That's a long drought and You know, and you watch in the last several years. They put together some pretty nice pieces with, you know, Hosmer and then Machado and and they make him really good, really shrewd deals. Both. You know, trading with the other teams in the major leagues, But you know, going out on the Pacific Rim and getting some good athletes. They're going into the Caribbean in the hard way and bringing in some Latin players. Really spinning from SmartMoney. And what happens if they get over stock? I mean, they had had, like almost 55 prospects. And you know you go on in there. You take a look at who they have and what they project to do. And of those 55 Auditorium were projected to be big leaguers, and about half of that we're projected to be like everyday players are Significant contributors in the bullpen or rotation. Members of me that that's that's a lot of prospects. They were do anything with him. And what happens in when you had that many prospects, you know, you can't sit on him forever, You know, get to a point where you know these guys get to be so good. Now you have to make a call on your 40 man roster. What are we gonna do with him? Now you expose guys to rule five and then But then you also have that point Where guys? You know, they get to a point where you can dig in, not even a real five and you can get these players so they have to make a move on him. And I thought they were like two or three years late, and you're going into the cachet of talent to go out and make trace well in in the last year, I think the last 15 months They've gone in and they cut away like 25 of their guys. And what they did You know they went out and they got they got starting pitcher with it. That's what they did. So I think you know, I was a little surprised took him this long. But I think the timing on this is pretty significant given their success last year. And And I think he took advantage of the time in baseball. One. Not everybody was was going to make. Real significant moves in the free agency, so they simply because of their cachet of prospects went into organizations. They got trades. They made trades and they brought in some some energy. And then that's where they are right now. I mean, look, they've won. People won the off season. They've won the offseason and, you know, I mean, it doesn't always work. But right now there's a lot of energy in that franchise. Because what they've done and I applied what they've done. They had to do this given what they had in their mind like system. I think they did it wisely. It's startling what they're doing. I mean, of all the teams, you know, you think of the Red Sox or the Dodgers or whatever these, you know, The Giants are glamour franchise with the payroll, but Padres to show up as this Nuclear armed franchises just startling and I don't like we had. We were talking about this briefly over the summer and just kind of as the Padres rose up even before these trades, and we're thinking, man, this division now, right? I mean for the giant. It's no joke, and I'm wondering, you know if you're Farhaan You got to stay disciplined, right? Stick with your plan and not, you know, He's got a plan, obviously, And we know that so much depends on these salaries coming off after the end of next year, and You know, the future is very bright with the Giants. But you know if you're far on and You're sitting there and you just got to kind of you got to kind of stay calm, right? You don't want to rush out and start throwing money around. But how do you think if you're him sitting there watching with the Padres and Dodgers they're doing you kind of feel a little bit left out, though, right? I think he has one most difficult positions to be in in all of baseball, because number one. He has to respect the players that were there on the field. He has to respect. The culture in that clubhouse because of its winning pedigree, and and I think he feels he owes it to Belle and Crawford and Posey to carry on. Carry on and try and win. And and it's very, very difficult because you know, you mentioned the Padres and what is the one thing that they were able to do? And they're, you know, decades of absence from the playoffs, they built it up. Tamale organization. They're minor league. The minor league system got rebuilt in an incredible way. Well, that's four Hun done since you know he he got here to the judge. And took the helm. He rebuilt the minor league system. Your mind like system is always gonna be your strength. So how do you go ahead and compliment guys at the Big League level who've earned that respect? And how do you rebuild the minor league system? That is the double its short on? I think that he has done it in an incredible way. I don't think anybody who has followed this story. Has any apprehension whatsoever As we go forward. He's done well. He's had to support from the from the owners Owners Group, You know, great Johnson and and Rob Dean and all the owners you know they brought in. They said, OK, that's how we're gonna do this, but they're doing in a smart way. Because they know next year. All of these contracts are gonna come up. We don't know. How many of them are gonna be kept? We don't know. But they are going to go to camp. Whenever that happens this year. All the players and that nucleus of the team is going to feel like they have a chance despite what the Padres have done, despite what the Dodgers have done. They're going to feel like they have a chance..

"I don't want to get too technical here. But these anti oxidants in green tea or classified is Polly females, and they really are super powerful and well respected by scientists. But in this green tea CR formula, there's more. It's got two green tea. It's got the curcumin the risk Vera troll that we talked about, plus grape seed extract pine bark, bio flavanoids, vitamin C. Can you talk to me about this array of really super antioxidants? And Polly Fi knows that you've put in the formula? Well, yeah, I won't say that. We kind of went over killed, but I will say that we really, really developed in the efficient, comprehensive program here. Grape seed extract and pine bark extract. Both contain a group of highly specialized antioxidant compounds that not only do much of what I've already described, but also enhance the physical integrity of tissue in the blood vessels in the skin, So we put those in there for Extra boost in antioxidant activity, but also for a specific type of activity that isn't as much addressed by the green tea, the curcumin and the resveratrol, the bio flavanoids and hands. The overall activity of vitamin C and vitamin C itself is one of the most important nutrients that we can possibly take in. So I would say that we were very, very thorough. You know, when we went through what could be in this product? We said, you know what would happen if we put in great seed extract, pine bark extract, bio flavanoids and vitamin C. We realized that we would have an utterly superior formula and just to reiterate Pat, I want people to experience dynamic health. I want people to feel great. This formula. The green tea CR will make you feel great, And that's the purpose of it. All right, Chris. I love this green tea CR combination formula. And remember the C R. Stands for curcumin and resveratrol love that with this complimentary bottle today our listeners could get started for free. That's great value. What would people expect to pay if they bought all of these separately in the store? Well, I think if they bought high quality products that contain these ingredients, they'd be into it for about 75 bucks or so possibly even 80 so they'd wind up spending appreciably more than they're going to spend on the green tea CR formula, and they still wouldn't get the grape seed extract. They still wouldn't get the pine bark extract the bio flavanoids of the vitamin C. Chris. What kind of results can people expect to see what can they expect to feel? Once they start taking this formula? I think that people will feel greater joint mobility and comfort. I think they'll feel more energy because these ingredients also help to stabilize and maintain natural, healthy blood sugar control. I think they'll have more sustained energy throughout the day, and I would just suspect that people will have an experience of greater vitality. When you detoxify the body when you have a more highly functional immune system, you just feel more energy and better overall, it's kind of you know, like those days when you get up and go Wow, I feel great. This is a Wow. I feel great formula. Chris. The green T. C R. Let me get this straight provides about three cops worth of green tea and each to capsule serving, Plus you get the antioxidant equivalent of several servings of fruits and vegetables, plus You get the resveratrol equivalent of several servings of red wine and the joint comfort and brain function benefits of the curcumin. I mean, wow, all in one formula in the last two minutes. Talk to me about this shortcut to better health And why you want everyone listening to this program to call now for that complimentary bottle of green tea? CR? Okay. Fortunately, there's an immense body of science that has been growing steadily for the past 20 years, and it's really rich science. Now we know that of the various plant derived substances that exist. Green tea extract, curcumin extract and resveratrol extract are at the absolute top of the list of protective vitality, enhancing overall health promoting compounds. There just isn't anything like these. They're in the green tea, CR CR standing for curcumin and resveratrol product in meaningful amounts. People will take this product it will be Rapidly broken down in the system very well absorbed. They're going to feel the difference. You're gonna feel energy. You're going to feel more vitality. You're just playing going to feel better, kind of more fluid and in that flow of good health, So I want people to experience that and given that they can get a free bottle.
