Los Angeles Lakers Get Much-Needed Win In Blowout Over Sacramento Kings

"Pick up the big win over the Sacramento Kings, they went by 21, you know, what most of the time right at a championship contending team beating the Kings wouldn't be a big deal, right? We would look at this and just say well whatever they're supposed to but given the current state of the Lakers without LeBron without Anthony Davis now without even Andre Drummond sliding down in the standings. This was an important one. In fact I said going into the game. This was a must must win and my goodness. I wasn't sure which Lakers team was a good show up. I wasn't sure if the Lakers were going to approach this game as a must-win the way I thought it was and they did they came out firing. What a performance and let me say this not only did the Lakers need this game. We needed this game Lakers Nation. We needed this one. We needed a performance like this because it had been too long. There was so much negative. Any permeate permeating Lakers Nation? It had been far too long since we've seen the Lakers really play. Well, really put it all together. And of course A lot of it came down to the three-point shooting tonight. They were absolutely phenomenal behind the arc V E 1% from behind the arc 52% if we round up and 48% from the field, they shot better from behind the three-point line than they did from the field not something that happens very often. But still this is certain a time to celebrate the Lakers picking up this win. We know the schedule is going to get tough. We know there's going to be some more difficult roads ahead. But for right now for this moment, we got to take a moment just appreciate what we saw tonight because this was a fantastic performance by your Los Angeles Lakers top to bottom everybody chipped in and he loved to see that.

Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat Remain Engaged In Kyle Lowry Talks

"Today's trade deadline. Now do seven hours away outs. Lawn of the name watching closely. We're watching closely as kyle lowry. Look so listen won't is reporting that the lakers are actually asleep routine to get him in the east to get him out there with the lakers in the east though it appears it's the sixers and maybe the miami heat in that mix. So here's kyle lowry on. What likely was his last game with toronto last night it was kind of weird tonight and not knowing what the next step would be just with. You know understanding that there's things that could possibly be done On the front of me and then other guys in our team and normalization. So it's kind of weird. I'll be honest with you but you know it was. It was great to get a win. it was great. It felt good to be out there. And you know i. It would have been of course. Of course it would have been crazy or if it was in toronto. I'm assuming i i would. I would think but It was it was different tonight for sure. I mean who knows what's going to happen like i'm not knows what's going to happen but it's definitely for sure different. All right we got crisper sar joining us now for sorry good morning which contender would benefit most from adding kyle lowry. You said the three philadelphia. Miami and the lakers less. Toss out miami. Because with or without kyle lowry. They're not winning the east much less the nba finals. They're just they would improve. No doubt were not enough. They wouldn't be good enough all right. So i'm tossing him out. I'll go to the west. The lakers this would be huge because in addition to bringing a championship pedigree more leadership. Defense toughness kyle lowry. Bring three point shooting. And they're lacking in that their twenty second in the league in three point percentage twenty-fifth if three point tips. He's any thirty nine percent or seven threes a game in toronto this year. Dennis schroder playing well but only hitting thirty two percent of his three point attempts so lowery would really feel a need for the lakers.

Brooklyn Nets hold off New York Knicks to claim victory

"To brooklyn nets are so good. It's a little unfair. They play the next monday and they weren't getting enough stops in the first half. This is what makes them so dangerous. They could keep an offensive crater. Like hardin in the game steve. Nash did and he said you know. Let's get all d. around him. The bringing bruce brown. Nick claxton to get the d. Gone and it worked throwing kevin durant when he comes back. They've got too many weapons heart and finished the game with twenty one. Fifteen and fifteen curry had thirty four. The game did end on a bit of a strange call against julius randle who up for three point shot. Kara got a piece of it randall. Land and tried to put on the floor any chopped up and miss a three point shot but scott foster calling for travel because he put it on the floor. I've never heard of that rule. That scott foster said if it came a little bit loose. He could put it on the floor but that was a travel either way. The nets are a half game back of philly for first in the east and they could get

Celtics Trade Rumors: Nikola Vucevic

"Do have interesting trade rumors. We didn't want to wait till after to get to them and they involve a bunch of big names that we've been kicking around on the thread on the on the live streams all of this time some really big fish out there. The Celtics are supposedly in on so we'll go Name by name. But again, this is Shams very plugged in the Athletic Club throwing out vucevic throwing out Jeremy Grant throwing out Harrison Barnes. These are all enticing names and honestly those three plus there and Gordon are probably the big fish house on the market Garden Of course dealing with the sprained ankle. So teams are wait and see there but those are the big names out there. We've been hearing them all the time. I'm going to start with Bobby's boy boo Savages. Part of that report was that it's going to be a massive Hall that we've been debating on all day Bobby what that actually entails but first this you turned on this guy meaning turned back towards this guy as Gore guy tell us why tell us what you think what you'd be willing to give up here for the Celtics to get it done. So I was never the biggest fan him and the sticks were previously invested in him during that Kemba Walker offseason. They were hot on him cuz they had the max cap space after Kyrie and Mortadella could have filled him down the middle. So there's a connection there. Obviously Kemba came along and grab that bone. Now, you have the chance to have four All-Stars on the team of chemicals affect them. They hated it. Yeah, and I still don't love it now, but I think context is everything you don't have cap space forever now wage only so many ways you can improve in the future. So why not grab the best player available? And I think out of all the options were going to talk about today. This guy's an All-Star. He pushes 30 points a game on many birth. It's eye dominant. Rebounder. Probably one of the best rebounders in basketball this year defense. We'll see I think it's all situational but he's kind of a disaster down there in Orlando defensive or a that could change in Boston and the three-point shot by zone is the best 3-point shooter above the break and basketball this year. So that's perfect in Boston pick-and-pop off and he'd get open shots above the are called a there he can post up he's seven feet. I know people will love that. He's a real big so he just give them a bunch of different options and outlets for offense and size that they don't have right now and this is what I love about and to John if they can find a way to clear types in a potential deal here clear Thompson in a game here and you're left with Rob and bukovic. See the dream. That's the dream. So look at it this way though. If you're the other team coming back, your don't want to take on Thompson or Thai so, you know, Rob is automatic berth. Certainly, if you're going to go big, you know to go get somebody else's big. I don't see any world in which you make a trade really any trade at this point in Rob Williams is still a Celtic. So anybody at home saying do do it do it I think has to get used to kind of giving up on their Binky which is Rob Williams, which is going to be hard for a lot of Celtics fans to be able to live with that.

So she only missed that by nine points. She's the first woman in Cincinnati history to score 50 or more in a game. She's one of two bear cats to do it. Oscar Robertson, the other Oscar did it often He had six games with 50 or more points, but just incredible performance. Congratulations to Omari Thomas 51 points without a three point shot. Sean Tucker Shares His Thoughts ON Photography And Spirituality

"Well hello everyone and welcome to another podcast from frames magazine. My name is scott olsen. And today we're diving deep today. We're gonna get into not only magnificent photography and intriguing so may gang but into philosophy and spirituality. We're talking with. Sean tucker. Sean is well known throughout the world for his videos on youtube and elsewhere and his images frankly are breathtaking. so welcome. how are you doing today. I'm good thank you. Thanks for having me scope. It is my pleasure you know. I'm really looking forward today. Because so much of the work we do is well beyond the technical aspects of photography and so often we look out our window or door. We're going out to shoot and we think what in the world am i doing. What what is it that this work is really all about behind all the technical stuff. There is the core. There's the soul there's motivation. There's vision that there's all the things that make photography special and you have made a good bit of your career in especially with the films that you have on youtube talking. About the spiritual side of photography you quote may certain albert camus. Carl young a niacin and mark twain and a dozen other philosophers. And you say again you somewhere in your web presence you say. Photography is more than a technical exercise for me. it's also a spiritual practice. I couldn't agree more. And i'm looking forward to unpacking that a little bit with you but like so often you i. I wanna start at sort of the beginning. You say you mark the beginning of your career of when you were eight years old and you took a picture of a seagull. Tell me that story to tell me about the very beginning of your self understanding as the tougher it would probably i would say eight zero nine years old and at the time i think my dad left home about four years before that when i was about four and i think i was a pretty rootless shy retiring little boy and i suppose with my family was struggling to find my place within my family because my mom had remarried and his new man in my life i was hoping would be a father wasn't actually keen to sort of get the package deal of a a mamun two kids so he said it made it clear to us that he was going to be my sister's father when she came along but he wasn't actually are far the so we were kind of sort of on the side or felt very much on the side of things and were shipped off to boarding school fairly early. And i suppose whether diffa me was just made me constantly look for affirmation. Because i didn't feel at home in my own family was looking for people to tell me i was okay and i wasn't broken or i wasn't doing things wrong and we gone down to the seaside one day. It was just my mom and my little brother and myself and we'd be walking around. Oh my grandmother. We walking around the town and we got down to the harbour at some point. And there's a tradition in england. Where you where you have Hot chips wrapped in newspaper is the quick goto meal so we went to one of these chickpeas local gypsies and we picked up in a newspapers usually covered in salt and vinegar the seeps through the paper and we go sit by the harbour front worst the boats come in if you've been to the The kale and seagulls a particular menace. So eating your food. You really have to be careful. That one doesn't dive bomb. You nick meal out of hand so we we were sitting there eating watching an i. I'd recently been given a point. Shoot film camera with zip zip wind on back plastic little thing but i loved it because i think at the time as well. It gave me something to do creative distraction but it also. It's sort of made me look busy to the adult. So they wouldn't bother me as much. Because i was quite shy and retiring and so seagull landed perched on their on the railing in front of our bench. Kind of eyeing us up. Grandma little cameron. I stood up and stalked him. He let me get really close to him. I think because he was i think he thought i was bringing him chips but stalking place. Replace a mask really close to and snap a shot of him and when my mom had that film developed and we were sitting over the kitchen table probably in a week or two later. We've sort of leafing through the prince. She pointed that one out with the seagull. And she said that's a really good photograph and she said maybe you'll be a photographer one day and that for some reason at that point we had these little things people say is that they might have said in passing but the meant a great deal to us even though they were throwing for them. That little comment from my mom was like oxygen. It was like just all the affirmation i needed the world and i think somewhere that kind of love of photography attached itself to that feeling of being affirmed for doing a good thing and i mean it would be years before i became a professional photographer. I think it was. I got into professional photography in my mid twenties but it just sat in the back of my head a photographer one day and that's where it came back around. I think

You Are What You Subscribe To

"All right. So i wanted to share with you something that my wife. Carrie ann i did the first At the beginning of the new year. And that's We sat down and we reviewed everything that both of us were subscribed to and we sorta did a purge and a respectful and together. We said you know what kind of content do we love. What do we want to learn This year what should we stop consuming. What should we start consuming and we did this very thoughtful very proactively over the course of about an hour and the high here for me is. I think it's important to be very very careful. Whose ideas that you let into your brain you know. We only have so much brain shelf space and we only have so much. Time to consume books podcasts Whatever the case you tubes whatever we like to consume and so being very thoughtful about what we put into our brain is actually a very important thing and i think there we put some shit in our head. That can hurt us pretty badly. You know if you're a longtime listener you know Have no love for the hustle stars. And i think they've done more damage to entrepreneurs and marketers than any recent group in history For a simple example you. I've heard hustle porn star. Say hustles the most important word the english language. Well i've also heard hustle porn star. Say no one ever worked himself to death well in japan they have a word for it. It's called karoshi and it translates into death by overwork. So nonstop hustling for twenty. Five years is probably not what you want to do. In addition even worse maybe is. You can hustle all you want but there's a difference between hard work and smart work hamsters hustle in their wheels to and they don't get anywhere. So what's your hustling about matters. And if you're a regular listener you know that i believe that Legends become known for a niche. That they own. So if you're hustling to design your own category that's one thing. If you're hustling trying to compete with an entrenched category king. You're gonna be in for a world of pain and yet millions and millions of business people still consume the stupidities of these hustle porn stars every day and the marketing and entrepreneur. World is stuffed with stupid ideas. Here's another example that drives me nuts minimum viable product. Why is this a good idea. Who the fuck said we. The first thing we deliver to the world should be something called a minimum viable product. It should be called a product. You fucking think is legendary and awesome and you wanna share with the whole world nother just dumb dumb dumb. I could go on with a very long list of very dumb ideas that are marketed to marketers and entrepreneurs all the time the bottom line is be very thoughtful about what you put in your brain because what you put in your brain is what you get out of your life now. Personally i like to go back to some of. Oj's peter drucker can touch him he. He's the original management thinker. His book the effect of executive changed my life by way of example. David ogilvy david. Ogilvy david ogilvy. If you're an entrepreneur if you're a marketer you're not a student of david ogilvy get on it. I go back and look at it all the time. Another one you might love in a similar vein is george lois. He sort of the punk rock version of david. Ogilvy check him out also. Of course the geez of positioning. Our reese and jack trout the so i love to go back and look at a lot of the original masters now some of the newer things that i love checking out is Check out a master class. This is incredible way to learn how to do to be taught writing by malcolm gladwin by way of example or taught how to do a three point shot by None other than steph curry. They have legendary people in many many different domains teaching their skills. It's an incredible product. Love masterclass podcast. You might wanna check out and this is not an extensive example or an extensive list. It's just an example of a few. That i like One of the jeez of marketing podcasts. Anthony Davis Disappoints in Lakers Loss

"Season You Look Tonight five of ten from the free throw line and a game that you lose by a point. Yes. That is the first step you're going to look at and that is frustrating. If you look at the rest of a stat line, he was fine 23-point skateboards to assist brought suck. If you're watching this game and you look at the stat line, this is one of those games where a d stats maybe don't live up to the way he played on the floor particularly the way he really got torched by Joell embiid a number of times. This is where the Lakers really needed Defensive Player of the Year Anthony Davis to step up and do something against your will and be instead and be puts up 28 points gets to the free-throw line thirteen times. In fact, I'm at the point where I'm about ready to move called Joel embiid Center Harden. I think that's what we should call him at this point just sent her hardened because that's basically what he is when you see his moves on the offensive end. He does the exact same thing shoot his lungs out. Look for someone else's arms are flailing to and then go from there, but it works for him. He had a nice night and I thought he'd beat a d a little bit too easily on a number of possessions. David's just hasn't quite had the energy that we've expected to see out of him again. The shooting on the night wasn't bad. But oh of three from 3, remember, we were told early in the season that Frank Vogel wanted him to shoot off. Five 3-pointers per game that is definitely not happened. And in the Lakers three point shooting tonight was an issue in general. But Anthony Davis just didn't have the game that you wanted to see out of him. You wanted to seem really step up and have a big night against a guy like Joel embiid who talks a lot who was talking a lot to a d during the game a guy who is in a candidate for MVP. I think LeBron James should get it but service is a candidate there this early in the season and anything he Davis I just didn't see that big kind of effort out of him that I think we need to see

"point shoot" Discussed on CBS Sports Eye On College Basketball Podcast

"Jon Morgan is a senior still when I watch Indiana play. And I've seen them plenty of mid this streak. There are still moments in games where I I see Morgan kind of carrying his load for the most part. He's a fairly efficient player. Good. On the good on both ends, and particularly opportunistic, rebounding but everyone else around him. And both those guys, you know, Miller called him soft. I don't disagree with that. At all they. They don't get stops on key possessions. When teams are potentially ready to break a game open, it just kind of fold. It's really weird and. Fighting to get in the NFC. I mean, they went from being in the top twenty five of the AP poll on January twentieth. Two now, it's ten eleven days from that they're on a seven game losing streak. It's they're skidding out and they face Michigan state. The line is going to be somewhere. I think around fifteen points, and I'm taking in the end of the cover, by the way, I'll take Indiana to cover even if it was ten points. I think they're going to show up and play a spirited game, but lose nonetheless. But it is it's not good for Jamila, and you have a season here in which and I don't I don't I can't pull off all these names off the top of my head. But Nerlens Noel who was injury influenced obviously, one that comes to mind, you have a tremendous player on campus one and done, and this is going sideways in not the way any Indiana fan. Hope think about think about how jubilant that state and that fan base was back in April of last year when Lankford committed and to where it is today. It's it's shocking. It really is. I mean, you really do end up wasting the Romeo Lankford season that you looked forward to literally for years. I mean to put some names with it. It's like been Simmons and LSU. It's like Marquel. Foltz at Washington. Right. But those aren't your right parish. But those schools are not annually expected. You're right. But like, Indiana, you think we're Indiana, and we have Romeo Lankford like there's almost no shot. This isn't going to go fairly decently. Well, here's the shot where it doesn't. That's all right way. Back a long time ago. John Calipari second team at Memphis had doin Wagner. You'll number one in the country that go to the United like it was just like that was that was similar to Indiana in the sense that they were supposed to be good. They had a roster that said they should be good in just waste the one Wani wags year. And now looks like Indiana's on on a track to waste the one Romeo Lankford year. I do think that you pointed out something that's important for the purposes of context. Five of the seven laws are on the road given this next game against Michigan state. Also in the road there in a stretch right now where six of their six games eight-game stretcher wrote gains that seems weird. And then five of these losses are against up twenty five Kim pump teams. So that's not to excuse it. If you're a legitimate top twenty five liked team. You're not supposed to seven in a row. I don't care what Lee in. I don't care what the schedule looks like I don't care where you're playing games. But, but I guess the the details aren't nearly as bad as just a surface level seven game losing streak either way, they're fading. They were sixteenth Kim palm on November eighteenth their forty seventh at Kim palm right now. And if you've got these kinds of issues like Michigan state the place where you try to get them fixed. I don't think I did in our fischel picture CBS sports dot com. Also, take in the end of the cover, but I don't think Indiana is gonna win. So when it goes to bed on this team goes to bed on Saturday night. They will almost certainly be twelve and ten overall three and eight in the big ten and taking an eight game. Losing streak into next..

"If they lose this one though, and they dropped a five and four that put them two games back in the loss column of first place and more than that, it would drop them to below five hundred since they lost their starting center. I do think if they lose this game that will be the point where I say, I don't think that their string. A big twelve titles is is going to continue. I think it'll be a reasonable thing to say at that point in it has been reasonable to say at other points and other years, and they make up the ground, and perhaps that's what they would do here too. I'm not ruling anything out. But at this moment, I will still say I think Kansas wins. At least a share the time. They lose at home On too. the second Saturday. I'll move off that. But I don't think they're gonna lose at home to Texas Tech on Saturday there eleven oh inside Allen Fieldhouse to season. And even though they've been very average without your Doke as Buki they did beat Iowa State who has been very good without you Doke. As a bookie and Texas Tech is just to to Andro games. So I'll take Keynes's home. But I don't feel great about it. But I will take Kansas at home. What's next, Indiana? At number six Michigan state at Saturday. Six PM eastern. You can watch it on ESPN a Michigan state's coming off that laws at Purdue, by the way. I don't think we referenced it on the podcast. I think it happened before the last cast maybe not Josh Langford is now officially done for the season. Michigan state coming off a loss. At purdue. Meantime, Indiana is on a seven game losing streak. How do you? How do you explain that? Let's just before we're both picking Michigan state, obviously, we're not gonna take are we? If you if you got the whatever it takes to take team on a seven game losing streak to win vision. State knock yourself out. I'm gonna soom you're not gonna do that. Let's focus on the Indiana. How do you? Explain this seven game losing streak. I mean, we got a talented roster with talented coat. How are they on a seven game that that beat Marquette early in the air that beat Lou Laurie in there? It's not like Indiana got off to this. Nice start ranked in the top twenty five because they beat nobody. They beat. They beat good teams early. Again, both games were at home. And both those games were close. But they are both Indiana wins the Lou the Marquette win that one wasn't close got it backwards. It was ninety six seventy three. So they beat Marquette, which is now borderline top Tintin being by twenty three points. And then after that that was the close game they went to Arkansas and barely lost. Because of that stupid last possession. They got lasted at Duke. But then they beat Louisville. This one was close sixty eight sixty seven at home, and they're one point twelve and two overall three zero in the big ten ranked in the top twenty five and it's just been garbage ever since. How do you make sense of this? Classic perish. Just by the way. Like asks me the question I start to answer. And then he hops in and gives you another minute worth of exposition. Yeah. I really didn't want you to talk just wanted to pretend like I did. And then I wanted to explain things five of the. Past seven games. All losses. Have come on the road. That's part of it. One of the home games was against one of the three or four best teams in college basketball in Michigan. The other home game was against Nebraska team that at the time with healthy. And now is lost Copeland for the season. It is it has never been this Bedfordshire Miller. This is by far the worst losing streak of his career. And they do not have enough around Lankford in Morgan Lankford. You want him to be a little bit better of a three point shooter. You watch him. You want him to Keiji make a little bit of a better decision. But overall he still been one of the five best freshman in college basketball this season. That's that's a bar that is completely reasonable that. He is cleared, and I find very little of this to be on his shoulders..

"It's America's most awarded networks network stars came just four and four since you as a book was lost the season just one and three and it's past four games a loss. Here would drop Keynes's to five and four in the big twelve heading into Tuesday. Jayme at Kansas state, in other words, jayhawks this one they really might be staring at five and five in the big twelve by this time next week you taking Kansas inside. And fog Allen or Texas Tech on the road. I'm taking Kansas straight up. And I'm taking Texas Tech think the expectation we logged are we do we pick some games for over at CBS sports dot com. This is the game right here. For me if Kansas drops this. I don't know if I can turn my back on my stance about picking them to win the big twelve the way that you scorn the the dome a few minutes ago, but got to win this game. Because you mentioned the road till coming after that at the octave gone of doom on Tuesday, February fifth, so I will take the jayhawks to eat this one out, but Texas Tech, which no longer racists, the best per possession defense in college basketball. It's now third trailing just barely with trailing. Michigan virginia. We'll see if that defense steps up and pulls one out here. We'll see if anyone can help out Dietrich Lawson Vic Dotson Grimes Ocho Balji, Marcus Garrett. Anybody wanna pick up a phone K j Lawson hasn't really been much of a factor is like his brother. So we'll we'll see I'll take I'll take the jayhawks. And I think this is the. Second most likely game to be terrific on Saturday just behind UNC Louisville. I don't wanna get hyperbolic, but I think you're exactly right. Like, this is a big game in the sense that if Kansas wins, it you go. Okay. They haven't been good without dog. "You can watch it on ESPN U K is on seven game winning streak Florida three and one in his past four games. Gators just beat ole miss the other night in overtime Florida's only twelve and eight overall four and three in the SEC, but still thirty first at Kim palm. So the computers love them for some reason you taking Kentucky on the road. Are you terrified of the dome? No no-one's terrified of the what what get out of the dome. The oto. There's there's no fear with the dome. Now, listen is it a fine venue. It is fine venue. I don't dispute that. But it's not. People walk into the dome all the time after my you. Florida got a necessary win earlier this week it needed it needed that victory and got it against ole miss, which is going the wrong way says we brought up on the podcasts, by the way. It's it's it's not been. It's not been a good situation for Kermit Davis the same. We'll see if they can if they can get back into the into the fold there. I think Ken Tom likes Florida more than any other computer that you referenced they were thirty eight in the Massey composite heading into this week. But Ken, Tom is buying in on them thirty one? I'll take them to win here. It's probably not going to be visually stimulating game. Florida's gonna wanna slow it down severely. Covad Allen can get hot. Overall, entry numbered is a name that almost no one knows in college basketball this year Florida fan, but he is one of the tallest point guards. And really one of the better distributing point guards. At this stage in college hoops, you know, he's not a top ten point guard by any means. But if. I think he was a top thirty prospects. He was definitely top forty prospect. So he came in and was. Expected to be a difference maker right away. I wanna see how he does in this one matched up on Ashton hagan's who's been terrific. And we've noted him on previous podcast. So in this Pacific game. I'm actually most intrigued by the numbered hagan's head to head. I'll take Florida to win who you take. I'm gonna go with Kentucky on the road. As an you know how Phil about the dome? So you can understand how difficult is is for me to do. But they're really playing while right now and some of it's got to do with action Hagans. He's just been a difference maker on both ends of the court, especially defense Vinit court, but PJ Washington's playing the best basketball of his college career. He had twenty one and six against Mississippi State twenty and thirteen against Kansas twenty six and twelve against Vanderbilt in that three game stretch shooting. Fifty three percent from the field. Fifty percent from three before this three game stretch. He had never at Kentucky. So that counts last season this season. He had never scored at least twenty points in consecutive games. And now he's done it in three straight games. So he's really playing. Well, right now among the reasons Kentucky is playing well right now. And since the Duke game, we've noted this before Kentucky seventeen in two and the two losses are combined by a combined three points. So they could very reasonably be sitting here at nineteen and one with. Alot moss to Duke, John Kerry's got planned, and we talked about this last podcast the way. Close to what they were supposed to be. I don't know that they'll ever get the number one in the rankings again like they were in the CBS sports top twenty five and one of the preseason. But it does appear that when we get ready on selection..

I wouldn't know except he was like on Zee. Basically every day just like talking crazy about everybody. Like, he shoots his person and this person going to get shot, and then like one of his boys tries to shoot, cheap key. He's like on TMZ talking wild every day and in the feds busted him, and he's like facing life in prison now for all sorts of wild stuff racketeering. And I don't know what the actual specific charges are. But there's a me facing a million Chari put up this album went straight the number one. It's got Nicki Menaj on it. I think Connie's on one of the tracks. And now he's going to be I don't know if he's going to be in jail forever. But he's in jail like now and has been for a while. And now leaky black camp play. "You can watch it on ESPN UNC is on a four game winning streak. Tar heels of one eight of their past nine games, which might remember only loss in that stretch. Eighty three sixty two loss at home to the same level team. That's now on a six game winning streak. It was the worst home loss of ROY Williams career since he's been at North Carolina Norrland or Chris max cardinals going to extend this winning streak to seven Louisville going to get the regular season sweep of UNC, or is it payback time for the tar heels a wits payback time, baby. I think it's payback time North Carolina's gonna win this game. It's going to it's going to win this game. You know, you start every pod. Cast now. We sometimes talk about Cam fighting. All right. We talked about it. Once I don't think I won't do it again. Now, if you want to get back to that's that's fine. And I think we've talked about leaky black once. But now wouldn't talk about leaky black more. Well, now, we're gonna talk. Now, we sometimes talk about leaky black because we're gonna talk about right now. Good. He's well, it's not that good. He's not gonna play in this game. So without him on the floor. And they also don't have sterling Manley does North Carolina. They're more shorthanded not as deep, but I don't think that's bad thing. I think you're gonna see in this little continue to get more minutes continue to play better. And he is really taken a step forward in a good way. Can you step forward in a bad way? I don't think so but he's played better as of late and North Carolina's a better team. When sear little is a better player. I think that they will win this. I think it's going to be the best game of Saturday gloves starting with this from from leading into the weekend. The one as you mentioned with with the two ranked teams and sitting well in the polls, it's the most anticipated one of the weekend. But I I think there's a great shot. This'll be a close game throughout one stat throw at you. Luvell I think has played better than its record. I don't care what. Bill Parcells famous quotas. You are what your record says. You are that's fine that credit Chris smack and that staff they done a great job headed toward the instability tournament. Awesome season. Jordan war's been a standout player. But they don't really have in my opinion. They don't have a star nor is averaging eighteen and he's he's had a good season. But I think why Louisville's been able at least a significant factor in why they've been able to to get to this sixteen and five Mark is they're not only good at their foul shots. They get to the foul line a lot. So they ranked top twenty nationally in free throw percentage shooting about seventy six percent and more than twenty three percent of their points. Overall, come from made Phalle shots. So we'll see if North Carolina gets duped into that. They're not they're not particularly team that is overly foul prone. And because they don't have a ton of big men. I mean, they've got may garrison Brooks Cam Johnson. If you wanna qualify him that like they've got dudes who are who are you? You know, six eight six nine, but they're not overloaded in the front court. And sometimes you'll see teams that are be more prone to foul rates UNC, isn't that? So I think we'll have a fun free-flowing game. And I don't know what Louisville's free throws per game averages. But whatever the over under is on that I'm going under. It's just unfortunate..

"And they were they were better for having guy. Like, Jalen Brunson was a big part of that. And now without him. They are finding a real groove. Here haven't lost in the big east yet. It's them in Marquette, and then a huge Gulf in that conference, but Villanova doesn't seem to be on the verge of taking a step back soon. Because next two home games are Georgetown on Super Bowl Sunday here then against Creighton. And we all we all basically, wait for the road. Tilt against Marquette on Saturday, February ninth that'll be one of maybe three must watch games. In in the biggest the rest of the way, the only one might that might qualify. Frankly is when Marquette tries to get its revenge win against Saint John's as you point out last season, the Jalen Brunson running thing, that's incredible point guard. Who's now in the NBA who was the national player of the year. And then he also had three other top thirty five picks in the two thousand eighteen NBA draft. So and we this out before in real time. I don't think people recognize just how talented Villanova was, but you know, with the benefit of hindsight after the draft. It was quite clear that was one of the more talented teams in the country. But they don't have that right now. And so I wonder and I'm not comparing to the other. But when the warriors came out and started playing just a different game than the rest of the people in the NBA were playing. It actually changed the NBA more teams than ever are shooting three pointers at a higher rate than ever and not everybody can do it Golden State because not everybody has Steph curry and Klay Thompson. But most franchises are now trying to do it at what point do you think more high major programs commit to a similar style. Once upon a time in some circles shooting too, many three pointers was considered a bad thing. I think now the bad thing is quite clearly not shooting enough. Yeah. Generally speaking that is that is true. College coaches are more micromanaging than professional coaches, that's indisputable at this point. And you're going to try you're gonna try and bring in guys into your program that can that can space shoot it. And at the same time like you've got the aboriginal things like Ethan half, it Wisconsin who can't do those things and yet top five player of the year. And he can't shoot the three. Makes his story all the more interesting. I think this is still going to be pushed parish to where we're going to have power conference programs teams shooting more threes. And if you just look at college basketball in general, I had something on this in the preseason. I in one of my stories, I can't reference the exact number. But anyway, college basketball has taken more three pointers by the year annually like GP, go back decades. There was one year where it had one weird dip, but otherwise more and more and more and more and more more taken more made the season's going to set the record. Again, there's going to be more made three pointers and more attempt to three pointers this season than ever before in the sports. So we're going to keep growing to that. And I do believe that it will not be this thing that expands infinitely like the universally sets. That's there. Do you think the universe is expanding? Or do you think we're we're shrinking back in ourselves, by the way perish? I don't know that I can have an intelligent opinions. Okay. I just figure that out in the middle of my thoughts on Villanova in college. Basketball in the three point shot at large. But anyway, there will be a bass back a pendulum swing three pointers and emphasis, and it's officially that's never gonna go away..

"Made the more three pointers in a single season than any team in college basketball history last season and made more three pointers in the tournament than any team in college basketball history trying to chase. Those numbers are the Wildcats and just for reference last season. Forty seven point five percent of was shots came from beyond the arc. So they're going even more in on this philosophy. It seems to be working out relatively well. Right now. Oh booth by the way, has kind of stepped up and been been the player that I think Villanova fan dot he could be. But he's he's about forty two percent from three at this point and has been their most valuable overall player in in their nine no stretch, by the way perish, and it starts with the win over Yukon just before Christmas and their last loss came close at Kansas syncing, they haven't lost their averaging seventy nine point six points in that stretch. So at they've been on fire as of late, but but overall the offense has really taken it up to to another level, and they now rank top ten offense efficiency. And last season. They were number one in offense officiency largely because of the way they shot the ball from beyond the arc. Do you have a sense for whether Jay Wright recruit shooting or developed shooting because they're clearly committed to putting up shots from beyond the three point arc, and they're obviously very good at it last season at four different players shoot above forty percent from three. Range right now, he's got three players shooting above forty percent. That's Phil booth Colin Gillespie and Joe Crema. So this isn't just one guy or two guys getting up all the shots. They basically have four and last season sometimes five players who can shoot it from three point range reasonably on any possession. Do you have a sense for whether he recruits shooters like this or get some into the program, and then develops into players who can do exactly what they're doing? Once again, I think it is more recruiting than developing, but every coach will will sell recruits on the development within the program and how we're gonna make you better. Obviously, of course. But Phil booth was a solitary point shooter coming into Villanova cream. Oh as a grad transfer. Those who followed mid major basketball and the university of Albany were aware of how good of a long range start that he was. So I think it's a lot of them pinpointing this and trying to build out their offense from their shooters. There's also a lot of freedom in the way Villanova runs its offense. And unless they have changed things significantly the season, which I find to be highly unlikely. I remember leading up to the final four last season. One of the very interesting things about Nova was how free flowing their offense wasn't how few sets they actually ran. And how good they were because of it or in spite of it. However, you wanna frame that it made their their story all the more remarkable because basketball at the college level. I think it gets it gets a little a little smarter a little more advanced year by year in many different ways. And sometimes that can be with the the kinds of sets and creativity that coaches want to run in the Jay right really simplified it last season left up left it up to his players to acknowledge develop in recognize res on the floor..

They still have to be able to find a way to to be effective in score against Evansville. Joe I think they need to get to the free throw line a little bit more as well. They've been seven times this half. Evansville is small you have to somehow be able to take advantage of them. And that's going to the basket hard, and forcing them to foul. And I don't look around that roster and he a bunch of great three point shooters. They gotta America's the progress. The certainly the Bronx going to get out of the twenty percent who's that of the twenty eight percent, but they're not a great three point unit team. And if you can't. Three. Well, they don't defend well outta how your playoff game in that conference talking to Chris Mannix young who sports senior NBA writer. There was a report that Jimmy Butler has assurances from now. The owner Glen Taylor of the timber wolves that he will be traded. You believe it. I don't believe anything out of this this story anymore. I mean, it's like every day. There's a leak coming from Butler's camp that that you know, makes it seem like he's out the door. But then you have to go back to warn ironclad. Part of this that the top do, but it doesn't want to trade him. And it may come to kind of a loggerhead with Kitto and Glenn Taylor where you keep it. It will say you we will trade him. But you have to fire me to get me out the door because I don't think kids cares about dysfunctioning around the team. I don't think he cares about the locker room, dynamical, whatever. But drama is right now at the moment in Minnesota. He knows it's any Butler is his best two way player. And if he's going. Any chance at making a run at say the second spot in the west which I think is wide open this year. He's gotta have the run that team. So the report of four first round picks, which you know, is insane and its own it's on its own way. That's not going to get it done for comp typical because you've got to include a starting level player, but he can plug into that mix to replace we bundle. Yeah. I agree. Because I said look if Houston can give up these four first round picks for Jimmy Butler. I'd do that if I'm Houston. But if I wouldn't do it if I'm Minnesota, oh, come on. Dan. You didn't we go down this rabbit hole? Once before what four first round picks means and how devastating it can be to a franchise. Didn't we do this? It doesn't mean anything. The these are picks that are going to be in the in the mid to late twenties. Probably in Houston has change. Houston has a window here. What three years to win a title? Oh, hold on. Hold on hold on the net said the same thing. I did this story for us. I use back in the nets at the same thing. Those players over the hill that the nets got. No, no, they weren't. I mean, look after the foul come on. Hold on. Hold on. After the fact we learned the cage had nothing left Pierce still had stopping left at the time. Dan, Darren Williams was in that kind of Chris Paul class where so comparing those two until John was a high level guy. Remember the cover store, whereas I on the cover it said who wants a piece of them because so every it was a lot of people that believe that team was a championship level came at the time. But no way they could have imagined. That it would have played out the way it did. Do you think if the rockets get Jimmy Butler that changes anything in the west it makes? Yes, you take the west. They're reintroduced as number two, but I've watched Golden State over the weekend. They're playing the best basketball. I've seen them play in the Kevin Durant era right now, especially between those two Durant and cargo just completely instinct, I don't think it gets them a championship and more importantly than for for this purpose of why I think it's dangerous. Those four first round picks Jimmy bubbas and banged up in recent years at the knee problems dealt with some injury issues. Chris still presumably you give him a five year contract. Right. You sign into the max level. He'll that he's that. He really wants at some point with Jimmy Butler. We're going to be paying for past production. So how many years we out of a top level to me Butler? Chris Paul team pulse. What thirty three humi Butler's going to be in his early thirties..

"You're the third best three point shooting in the NBA and you the twenty eighth most attempts if that isn't a scream take, and then you're the twenty ninth best two point shooting team in the league. The third most, I mean, come on, I mean that if. That you play in the game completely backwards at that point. And that's something that has to change this year because they do have some great shooters and today's MBA's game is about spreading the floor making teams defend you using screen action to force defenders to help and rotate and then knocking down three point shots. And at the same time, creating very high percentage, two point shots. That's the way the NBA games played today in Sacramento, absolute played it in reverse last and they played the inverse of the rest of the league and their style of play off as early. But yeah, I mean, healed and yes, they're going to have to defend if they're going to be a really good guard combo. They're going to during FOX's get out to defend their got to defend up another lineup, and that's more than just healed. And and the other guards they have on the roster roster, including. Documents, but you know, you know, defend. They have some real office of firepower on the scene and Justin Jackson guy that you and I both like there's a prospect. Everyone had questions about whether it's three point shot with translate because he basically was only three point shooter his flashed year Carolina, but he is so good moving without the basketball. One of the best young players leave moving the basketball, knowing where in a win to be windy cuts. He's good. Just kinda running those loops while the balls either in that mid pose this floor, what have you? But he he's just silly moving on the backside of defense and the defenders have to pay attention to him. So I really enjoy that part of his game mix in yoki and been macklemore who's getting paid more than Yogi is. So you think that that's probably means he's gonna play in front of you. We'll see. That's a pretty young young group. I hope Iman Shumpert plays zero minutes, zero seconds this year. Nothing against him. But I think there's two of the young guys here. I do think Yogi is there for his defense. He just is smart. He's prepared. He plays hard plays much bigger than self, but I think you'll use air because it was defense out. I'm not saying he doesn't have anything to offer off instantly can score the basketball, but I actually think that they brought him in to kind of build in some competition in terms of. You have to play defense, two minutes. He's gonna come in here and kind of set the bar for us in terms of the way that you have to work on defense to get playing time. So I think he's their defense. I think Justin Jackson is smart, and he's the ideal size..
