"Cannon. The not enough divorce games. I think is the the message of what you were saying sony. Lucy anything you've been playing news. Think nothing of massive. Note that i've been planning on the playstation systems that i do want to say i put seven t h e hours into bradley defaulter on switch We don't need to get into it. I have regrets moving on fair enough. No i did like like multiple square at. Pg it's it's it's scratches that it completely It's a total delight. I'm i'm enjoying it very much but yeah i don't know where those ideas came from and why. I decided to do that so well. I'm i'm proud of you. I've been playing as i said i. I spent an hour creating a character in fancy fourteen. So i'll i'll jump into it and we can start our beyond guilt. I finally beat the guardian ape over the weekend in sacramento After last weekend the weekend before. I literally streamed i think for four hours and couldn't beat it and then another three hours past and i finally beat it. That was a very very proud moment but also just like that fight really tests you and ways of like you need to be patient. You need to understand every move and where your added every moment. It's really really great teachable. Every boss fight in that game safaris felt like a very good teachable moment for how to play that game that we're like you get your ass kicked for an entire day by a boss and then go to bed and then wake up the next just beat the show them some of my favorite feelings in the world really. It's it's so great. What what a joy that is it You know a few weeks back. We talked about things. That just sucked. That does to be able to to be able to just beat that boss after after spending so many hours as as reddish showing. It's one of those moments of like disbelief when it happens but that was great and then i feel like i've been playing other stuff too but i can't remember. I started hollow night finally as well and have been really enjoying that and finally getting to understand that The mixture of both like beloved platforming and almost beloved like souls born ask boss fights in it as well So i'm really enjoying that too and can't wait to keep digging into that world but yeah it's been i feel like we're on the cusp of a bunch of stuff coming out. As as we said earlier return was a couple weeks away near replicant a couple of weeks away as well even though death loop got delayed which we had talked about last week i forgot to bring this up earlier. News death delayed till september. So that that'll move out of may well to talk about may with resin evil bio mutant more but yeah it feels like the the release is going to start to get really crazy all of a sudden so that should be really fun before we wrap up the show. I just wanted to briefly. Bring up a memory card story. Memory card of course is our weekly segment where you the viewers and listeners. At home right in with your sad weird wacky happy whatever memories of your playstation and gaming life and we read those on the show. I almost said we. We'd those on the show. So that's where my voice is that today you can read into beyond it dot com with the subject line memory card and will read them on the show in the future. Wanna thank everyone who has been writing and we definitely have a bit of a backlog with them. Please continue to write in. We have a lot a lot of great. Wants to read and one of them. That i'm going to read comes from chris. Chris wrote in and said. I've been a playstation nintendo fan for most of my life since i was old enough to have enjoyed the any asked the master system and european councils like the commodore the amiga and the spectrum. Unfortunately chris Had an unfortunate experience. Where they they had a partner who cheated on them and left them some years back and the just stopped playing video games at that point the they couldn't explain why you know they started doing that in context but it just happened unfortunately but The ps four came out and they. They decided to take take a chance on it. And chris wrote i began playing again. Started social socializing with my old mates work colleagues and meeting new players around the world. It helps me come out of my shell and now with my new five. I also have a wife and kid. I'm happier than i've ever been before Who says video games are bad for you and just wanted to read that. I love that a story of coming back from a dark place and how video games helped them through that time. Maybe i should have done that when i went through. My life's biggest break-up instead of going on lake superior but it looks appropriate hottest gaming handhelds. Though it's up there with swan and the wellbutrin the super alexa pros where that though pro was the revision model they came out halfway through the alexa generation. Right yeah it had an extra controller on it for some reason like an extra analog stick but they never used it. It wasn't great moving onto another brief one to end on a lighter. Note as well. Thomas wrote in and said last week you guys mentioned the game shark. I absolutely loved modern. My games within having lots of fun cheats unlocked normally weren't available. This one time though it bit me in the butt. I used it when i bought my copy of final fantasy. Eight and the main cheats. I used were max level and unlimited gill and things like that but with ffa and me scale with your level so unknowingly made my game extremely believe it or not cheaters. Don't always win and two very different stories about cheating there. I thought i would bring up. Thank you thank you to everyone who wrote in again if you'd like to read employed into beyond dot com with the subject line.

"I. Did the final fantasy seven remake which was like. yeah. I really enjoyed that a lot of fun. I remember back in the day playing that game on. Ps two fun game. i My story with the game was that i got to this to literally will too and there was something going. Have too much space. My memory was gone on my playstation. And i was like the word formatting. Do you wanna format l. Kid i'm a kid. I don't know what the word format means. Phones are here. We can just google. They're gonna get the big encyclopedia book. And i was feeling lazy that day. So i didn't get the biggest like bedia book next thing. I know womb. Ira's everything learned the word format the heart.

"It was the risky the farmer riskier play in this the console rice between xbox playstation and. That's what i always thought. It was a risk taker and intensive here. That it's it's sony is playing. And that's the kind of internal vibe is ruben. Emma and i hope that that changes i mean. This is just a moment in time in our plenty playstation will continue to evolve as it has that i do want to see those risks taken again. I'm going to risk for you. They should make microtransactions in dreams. You want to add a square. It's four dollars litterbox. They announced recently that they are. They're investing significant money in the studio. That may dreams. So that's good right like they aren't that It's not like they're shutting down. I also truly believe that. That's that's the kind of game that will continue to see Extended life When it becomes more accessible to people like we've said this for a very long time but making that sort of like a stock software on the five is the best thing you could possibly do. Just put that. Yeah what dreams out for free for everyone. Even make it a playstation plus game. Make it one of the you know the the the plus collection just put it in their give. Give people the option of play it. I think that's the problem with that game was always like you know. What am i actually doing. And where do i start and who you know. How do i access like what is this. You know they had. They had a tough time saying that The sean laden thing was fascinated me a my favorite part of it was when he said It wasn't a million seller but that wasn't the point to me that is that is the most important thing at somebody in a position like him can say because it shows you that there is opportunity underneath this company to make smaller more intimate Risky and strange avant-garde projects that aren't necessarily multi-million sellers they aren't necessarily the grizzled aaa i party stabbing games like this cool weird are in there too And i i think that they'll find that again. We had sort of heard. You know like off the record from a couple of people over the last few years that sony had been pulling away from funding independent projects. We saw that a lot in the beginning of the ps four Era where they were really helping a lot of small studios bring their games at the finish line putting significant funds and stuff like that and it seems like they pulled away from that because ultimately like for business. That's not the smartest thing in the world is to give a small studio. You know millions of dollars to barely break even. But i do think that that is part of Telling the story about a console and creating a narrative of what of what the playstation brand represents like. It's not just the big games. Know we're gonna get those and i know. Psi's can have an awesome year and now it's probably have an even better next year But i do love when those smaller things are kind of papers in here and there. We get return soon which is cool. That's you know how smart got to do their own thing there. I love that There's you know there's there's a bunch of cool smaller games that are sort of coming underneath the playstation umbrella at some point but I do worry that it's just going to be a focus on just the biggest stuff and that that is worrisome in the grand scheme of things. Yeah it's you know there's the potential and obviously we've seen it with a shuhei in his new role focusing on indians. And we've seen. I want to say a more regular cadence of playstation indy drops in like announcements and things. And maybe that's how they are mitigating. The risk is they're putting it on the developers who are already doing this stuff rather than internally and you know over time that strategy may make sense but know to your point bryant as you're saying like at the end of the day all this stuff is a business and we can't ignore the business realities around it and but i think the reason that that laden quote rang true with so many people was because at least like the the risk of business. There was some understanding that art had a place in there as well. And you know the the worry. I think that the pretense of art having a place where risk can be taken is go is gonna go away. It's just going to be the biggest blockbusters in the biggest hits that have to succeed no matter what and without those risks. That's how you get those bigger franchises. Eventually so i think the hope is that we return to that in some case but yet as we've all been saying like things in the short term you know there was a lot of doom and gloom when this report came out things in the short term for sony. We're going to see some big games. It's going to be a big first couple of years for the ps five. I have no doubt about like we're gonna have a lot of really really great awesome games to talk about in the next couple twelve to eighteen months. What comes after the is a is a big question. We'll have to. We'll have to track that stuff as it happens other than that though. I did want to move on to talk a little bit about what we've been playing. Excuse me and max. I want to start with us. We haven't gotten here. Wh- what have you been playing slash had time to play things. I've gotten to play a fair amount because babies don't do much besides sleep and throw up and stuff but Yeah i fi-. I gave persona five roy another shot. I got about twenty hours in. Maybe i got a good chunk of a little bit further than i was last time. Actually i think. I got to exactly where i was last time. Which is the beginning of art gallery stuff and That game is really hard to go into after playing alka seven on us because it gets it gets hailed as like a you know a magnificent art. Jr pg but. I feel like it has a lot more visual novel going for it. It's sort of weird to be like this is. I think i've said this before. It's it's still it's beautiful. It's incredible incredibly well made but it's like if you go into it. I don't know if you go into expecting a certain amount of freedom it's not. It's not quite there like it's a lot about you know working within a schedule like it's it's fairly structured but it's funny to me because when i was a teenager i had all the time in the world and i would use it to watch all the episodes of dragon ball z. Or whatever like. I would tell me every day like i. I'm was meaningless. Because i got off school at three thirty and now as an adult time is fleeting. And it's weird to play a video game that takes one hundred twenty hours and twelve of those or to get through the tutorial. And then you'll be like all right. I'm finally the good part all right. It's nighttime. I want to go have an adventure. I want to go to the the big hamburger and then my cat goes yeah. My cat goes got a big day tomorrow. So i have a big day tomorrow in real life the game. I got fifteen minutes. What are you doing you stupid cat anyway. Aside from that. I also jumped into disco lisi. I'm which is phenomenal. I really love that game. I heard all although the you know nonstop. Praise at got when it was on. And i said feces for typing on playing games on there and now i got a good chunk of the way to that. I'm not sure how much i have left..

Sony's Obsession With Blockbusters Is Stirring Unrest Within PlayStation Empire

"Visual arts service. Group has been has long. Been the unsung hero of many hit playstation video games the san diego based operation helps finish off games designed at other sony studios with animation art or other content and development. But about three years ago. A handful of influential figures within the visual arts service group. They wanted to have more creative control and lead game direction rather than being supporting actors on popular. Titles such as spider man. Uncharted michael barr who founded the visual arts series group. In two thousand seven rooted. A a group of about thirty developers internally and from neighboring game studios to form a new development unit within sony. The idea was to expand upon some of the some of the company's most successful franchises in the team began working on a remake of the twenty thirteen. Hit the lasts less for the playstation five. Why why would this be what you go do well. We're about to get the answer. But never fully acknowledged the team's existence or gave them the funding and support needed to succeed in the highly competitive video game market. According to the people involved the studio never got its own name instead. Sony moved ownership of the last remake to its original creator naughty dog. The team's failure highlights the complex hierarchy of video game development and in particular sony's conservative approach to making games for the playstation five. The japanese conglomerate owns about a dozen studios across the world as part of its playstation studios label but in recent years it has prioritised games by its most successful developers studios such as santa monica california. Based naughty dog and amsterdam-based guerrilla games spend tens of millions of dollars to make games with the with the that the that the investments will pay off exponentially and they usually do hits including two thousand eighteen god of war in twenty twenty. "The card one Like that's that to me is like it's not like this is a team that was getting pushed into a bold new direction and being told to go create some brand new ip. That's different than anything else. They're doing like if you look at something like horizon. that's very clearly. The zone team was like so what's next. Let's let's really just go to deviate from. What were you know let's go bonkers and instead we get you know. Like we're gonna get a remake of a game that has already been remastered and then potentially the fifth or sixth on charter game. Like that's kind of a bummer. To me yeah. I think the thing just a speaker. I think you're all making a lot of really valid points about like the the state of all this stuff it is. I think to your point like the thing that bugs me out. The most is like the the potential of the stuff that they were doing the like the work they put into building a very like thorough relationship of the character to a vehicle. As well like. There's enough there. That i could also see why they were thinking of like. Oh yeah a co-op biker. Gang in a post apocalyptic zombie world. You could you could make that work. And i think there's so much potential there that i wish we could see and i hope that the work that they did on all the stuff can be applied to new world in a new universe. 'cause 'cause max i get your point very much of like from a from a pullback marketing standpoint of talking to a mass audience of one hundred plus million. Ps four owners to be like here to samba games. That art zombies. But here are the differences in have to get into the nitty gritty. You start to lose the elevator pitch that you can sell people on easily. My only thing with that is like the signs of that. Were there kind of from day. One i feel like when we when we first saw days gone everyone was like oh another zombie game from the first party sony stable and i think there should have been enough realization that if if that was the concern they probably could have deviated from the course and let them use the work that they were building to make this world and do something different. Sorry i was just gonna say just to wrap. My hope is an and i get that the worry from the team is because at the end of the day even if the critical the critical success wasn't there the commercial success did seem to be there. The audience did gravitate to it. There is a very very dedicated days. Gone audience out there within the playstation base. It sold well enough it. You know the bloomberg report settlers profitable. It's one of those things that like it. It's a bummer. to me. also that the studio may not get to continue what they were clearly passionate about but then also to kind of have their next steps be taken away from them and be like here. Now here's this this other studios work that we need you to work on. If that is the case again this is all allegedly. We are only seeing a bit of the picture here. I do an emphasized that like we we know especially because i'm sure they're potentially sony deb's out there who who may here some of this discussion like we know. We do not have a full understanding of the situation. Exactly there are some of the politics and deals in money things that we got no clue about and this is nervously shrines. We we're talking about in some instances where we are just frightened animals. And that's this is a little bit of. Yeah i think that is an excellent way to put it but yeah it is. I think the thing for me in the in the thing that i essentially put a lot of like what my ethos was in my op. Ed was something that. And i don't know how how many of you saw this. But like the day this report broke there was a shawn laden piece of in e three speech that he gave like six years ago where he was talking about vibe ribbon and how it went. It went against the grain and wasn't afraid to be ambitious. And that was the sony mantra and was like the these risks and creating something new was what sony could be and i think like seeing that clip juxtapose with doubling down on a remake of a beloved game that we all just played a sequel of along with studios may be having to work on other existing projects because their new products can't take off and then coupled with sony japan being shrunk essentially to team of sobia not having the ability to also. Have the team go team within at gravity rush team. The you know three or four other teams i. It's just that bring thing of and this is sort of where like you know wrapped everything up was like i can't wait for the sequels were getting. I totally hypocritically. I cannot wait for the next spiderman. The next horizon the next god of war. I cannot wait for those things but at the end of the day a lot of those things. You know maybe spiderman side were born from risks horizon was a risk for the kill zone team to take even if kill zone was getting a bit long in the tooth but like a new god of war. That wasn't like the old guy. Lavar was a risk for that team to take into work for so many years. I i want there to still be room for those risks. Is i think at the end of the day. The the biggest thing that we won't really know until a few years from now what sony is doing and doing oil so to your point lake. The report said that there was a lack of marketing support around dreams. A lack of kind of internal holding that engine up as something incredibly special Which which. I think all of what was spoken about in that report. That was the one that kind of made me more sad. Because you know our dreams is remarkable. And it has. It's been it's it wasn't development for years and years and years and years and hear that it wasn't properly supported again. Allegedly is such a bummer. Because it was Playstation has been some synonymous with with risk taking a few years..

"I got some fun things to talk about on. Today's podcast. And i want to start with a game which i briefly mentioned over the past couple of years and i want to go dive into it first and foremost and that is edge. Eternity and i've kinda held off talking too much about it as it's been stuck in early access for what seems like years on pc and but we finally have a release date for it It will launch for pc via steam on june the eighth with a massive update that adds an additional twenty hours of play. And we'll bring it's story to an end and If that sounds odd that's because they've been kind of releasing it in segments on early access to people who've adopted it early and The this full version of it will bring that to a conclusion. This is from publishers. Dear villagers and developer mid gar studio which is just an awesome name right. You can't go wrong with that but what's really could be an interest to Gamers outside the c. Realm is. There's always been talk that this would come to consoles once it was complete on. Pc and that is in going to happen sometime in quarter four of this year so october november december sometime in that timeframe they haven't quite nailed down yet so yeah alpha. Pc complete version of the game on june eighth. We'll get it later on in the year There will be for a ps five. Ps four xbox series xbox one As well as xbox game pass this new announcement is for. Ps five and xbox series. Obviously those weren't around when this game was first being developed There is even confirmation. There will be a physical version of it for playstation

"That's such a high number. Every time i say it now it just feels so strange the gang is here. The whole gang is back. I feel like. I'm under a reunion episode years after the fact. But we're all back together and we have actually quite playstation news to jump into before we begin. I'm during this week by brian altana playstation lucille bride. I feel like i look like. I'm on a renewed reunion so years after the fact and mexico's back. hey man. hey it's going to be back. Glad it's good. It's a good time to wake up at you know whenever the works. It's actually deeply wife was really upset. Like i'm going to be horrible. You you're off paternity leave. And it's like i go in this room. There's no different you know like. I'm still changing diapers and getting up and stuff anyway. Yeah going to be back playstation everybody and also this is we send it of course while you're off the air but congratulations. Thank you member of the family. The the play the newest Playstation family member crato says a weird name for a little girl. But i i respected team. She had the white in the tribal tattoo. Face thing a little soul. Patch the guy from god smack. It's just seemed like a good name. You know like we should talk about why that was the choice you made. But yeah that's a other than that. Congratulations to you. But we're glad to have you back and we're we're glad to have you back especially in a week where there is a lot of playstation news to discuss Both on the firmware and software side. Because we've learned about some possible unannounced. Sony games both cancelled and maybe not That will dig into a little bit. But the biggest thing that i want to talk about that as Happening actually today as we're recording the show in the day goes live now is that the. Ps five has gotten its first big update. There have been. I think since launch a lot of requests for a lot of different features Obviously the ps vue is completely different from the ps four. You i and there's been a lot of changes both some that i think have been more well received than others but just to quickly run down. The the update is available right now. It changes some things like you are able to finally download. Ps five games to external usb. Drive you can't play them off there but you can at least actually download them to there's that have just deleting and re downloading there are now new social social features. Excuse me so you can actually do. Share play cross generation. So technically don't need a ps five to play a ps five game. You just need a friend who has a. Ps five to share play with you there. Ps five games and then in addition to that there's been some changes to the game base Some other pre download and game library customisation options. Some slight changes to the trophy settings and then today as it went up they had an announced it in the initial playstation blog. Post but there have been some slight changes that include some different. Hdr support and support for one hundred and twenty hertz monitor so if you're someone who plays your ps five on a pc monitor that sports that you can now use those monitors differently. Are there will also some updates to be playstation app which. I'm actually have a user of and that. I i like some of these changes because they include actually having the ability to manage your ps five console storage so you can now not just download games but actually deal with what's on your ps five remotely. Which is something. The xbox app has allowed you to do previously. But of course this also leaves a lot of room for things that weren't at it. I think some of the biggest things that people want are variable refresh rate. Things like the to drive support that will essentially allow you to have expandable storage that meets the requirements of the ps five and more things on top of that. I reached out on twitter to ask people. We can dive into that but generally i. I wanted to throw the three of you and brian. I'll start with you. We've talked before about Firmware updates and things and this is where we get into the really nitty gritty of something that has like made a really big deal out of but it's like underneath the surface stuff that you might not immediately notice so i was curious at least start like is anything here are really big change or addition you feel like it's going to improve your experience or is it kind of just same from here. There was also a controller update. But i don't think anyone actually knows as of right now. What was in there. It was just don't forget So i'm excited to see how that concern evolve but yeah the storage thing is nice. I don't particularly know if how rush to take advantage of it yet. Because i think i have like mild Like kind of just terror of ps five is constantly warning me that there's too much stuff in there so i keep it pretty slim as is a but i do appreciate that there. Is that option to just kind of have stuff on deck because games are gigantic in the ps five. Hard-drive is tiny. And so it'll be nice to get something get a little bit of sort of control over that situation Open like that should have been rectified before the systems were even shipped and hopefully it does if they ever do a revision but for now. That's a that's a nice little step. I'm into it and Lizzie have for you. I i remember when the ps fire came out and we were talking a lot about the changes to the you. I i think something. I didn't realize was like a lot of people generally colloquially that i've seen don't really like the ui these days if feels like they after years of working toward ps where you is that everyone was pretty comfortable with the ps five is sort of starting from scratch a little bit. Go ahead sorry. No i agree i mean i still i know this is a an people will probably get mad at me in the comments saying this is really struggled attending that thing off like putting late to wrist is kind of like of hit. The jolsen's with banana. Every time just like eventually i get to the to the wrist marred option. I think that there is still plenty of improvements to come on. I wanna shout out that the zoom feature in particula with something that a lot of people are clamoring for because the ps forehead at the five ship with And it's one of those features. That's really important for accessibility. So i like seeing a playstation make strides towards making the console more accessible for uses that that that made it. Which is you know like again with all things. Accessibility is most of us absolutely and Yeah just specify exactly what that is for those who may not know you can now just magnification of the screen to your preference from the settings menu. And on that note. Definitely want to shout out. Lucy you would commission and worked with freelancers to have accessibility reviews of the of the new consoles when those launched as well and A few months out but definitely go back and check those for. I think a really interesting angle and and look at how important some of the features you may not think of if you don't have to use them are for these consoles totally and it's like with with with very lucky. These days that consoles are essentially works in did not like static things so everything can constantly be iterative on proved on And it's good to see. These companies have a growing focus on accessibility. Absolutely and max for you are any of these changes Do they feel significant at all. Free for For how you play or you kinda waiting for not really. Check out the app honestly. The app was always a thing. I would mostly use. If i was out of the house..

"Opposed to uncharted. Yeah oh yeah for sure for sure and also your earlier point about the multiplayer in how you would imagine. That would work right. Like part of that story was that ben studio was brought in to work insistence for the last player so like that. It seems like things have been getting shifted all around in terms of nine dog in the projects. And playstation i party. Who's working on it and who's not working on it. What's Going On With Graphics Card Prices?

"Graphics card prices have gone up. We're not just talking new graphics card. Prices were talking used graphics cards as well and that pretty rough here so Both companies have had problems. First of all with scalpers of course Consoles also have had scalpers and quite frankly there has been a huge supply of consoles at the retail stores. I know working at a retail store. We've not had that many playstation five or What's the latest version of the xbox. I can't remember off the top my head. i'm sorry has slipped my mind. But i think you know what i'm talking about the xbox series x. That's what it is that came to mind. Finally but yeah. We haven't had very many of those scalpers have to buy up a lot of the supply of the graphics cards same with consoles and flipping them on ebay to make like probably about twice as much or even more quite frankly because people are just willing to pay those prices But graphics cards especially they've had problems with scalpers and there have been bought created to check windows graphics. Cards come in stock for the scalpers to go automatically by those graphics cards so you the consumer can't get the graphics card so easily and neva invidia or amd rarely like thus. They've both been trying to do things to keep that from happening. Because they know that they're mainly seen as a gaming type of company are both. Amd nvidia now. of course. they're real bread. Butter right now is in like machine. Learning and i quite frankly. That's where the real money is for them but they have graphics cards to at the majority of consumers are wanting gaming graphics cards When it comes to amd and video and if the gamers can't get those graphics cards while that puts both amd an nvidia in a bad lights quite frankly even if they are making a ton of money off of the cards at still does it. look good for either

Global Shortage in Semiconductors Increases

"Global shortage in computer chips reaches crisis point. And i really wish that they would just break more into what's actually going on behind the scenes. I get it maybe to some extent. We might not actually know what's going on. But let's hop on into the articles. He what's up. Consumers are facing price rises and shortages of products from. Tv's mobile phones to cars and game consoles as a global shortage in. Semiconductors grows shortage in chips. The brain with an electronic device in the world has been steadily worsening since last year now. Initially the problem was only temporarily in supplies. Factories shut down when the pandemic i hit however although production is back to normal a new surge in demand driven by changing habits fueled by the pandemic means that now is reaching a crisis point car manufacturers investing in tech heavy electric vehicles. Which is okay. I'm just going to make a point to some extent stupid. Gopher hybrid the boom in sales of tv's in home computers launch new game consoles five g. Mobile phones have all driven demand. So we know that demand has been going on an increase to like crazy stupid level that we haven't seen before even a mighty apple a two trillion dollar company in the world's biggest buyer of semiconductors spending fifty eight billion annually was forced to delay the launch of much hyped iphone twelve by two months last year due to the shortage in one of the reasons. Chips are everything says neal camping media in tech analyst at mehrabad. There's a perfect storm of supply and demand factors going on here but basically there is a new level of demand that can't be kept up with everyone is in crisis and it's getting worse for recently canceled shift at two car. Plants and said profits could be hit by up to two point. Five billion year due to chip shortages while nissan is idling output at plants in mexico. Us general motors said they could face a two billion dollar profit hit as well. Meanwhile sony last month along with other console makers has struggled with stock shortages over the last year that it might not hit sales targets for new playstation five this year because of the semiconductor supply issue microsoft's xbox said if forecasts supply issues continuing at least until the second half of the year and then they go on to talk about samsung itself selling fifty six billion dollars of semi conductors to other an consuming thirty. Six billion dollars of them itself finds. It may have to delay the launch of one of its own products as well. They're co chief executive. Who had its mobile business. Unit highlighted a significant issue. Saying there is a serious imbalance in the pecking order of who has Giving the limited supplies of chips so what exactly is going on. While chip shortage looks set to persist for some time yet. It up the two years to get complex semiconductor production factories up and running and manufacturers are in process of significantly raising prices for the second time in less than a year is no sign of supply catching upper demand decreasing while prices are rising across the chain so economically. What does this mean means. Less supply obviously unable to meet demand and prices. Go up because of it. Because that's kind of the only counterbalance that you have to be able to balance everything taken an economics course at the basic level. How things work. So what exactly is going on. It could be that. There aren't enough factories able to produce enough of a supply of semiconductors. One thing i'm wondering though is are there enough materials to be able to construct it. I mean semiconductors aren't really the easiest to make their actually quite complex quite exact in its production of it not to mention you also need to have trained individuals who know how to do it. Do it well Which is a limited supply of as

Sony Reveals Its PS5 VR Controllers

"Has revealed its vr controllers for the playstation five. And they look kind of funky article comes to us from destructed and i. Apparently it's going to be the story happening today. Friday and a they. They kind of do for those wondering. I i will link for some pictures and videos and whatever else you might be interested in but i can say it's kind reminds me of the oculus. Rift controllers activists. Sony has offered playstation fans. A first look at its incoming. Vr controllers which are currently in development for use with the company's new playstation five hardware in the future. The headset itself however remains a closely guarded. Secret for now we don't. We don't have any further details on our new. Vr controller speaks mission of achieving a much deeper sense of presence in stronger feeling of immersion in vr. Experience said sony senior vice president xi no on playstation blog it will build up the innovation. We introduced with dual sense wireless controller which changes how games on a playstation five by mocking a new way to tap into a sense of touch. Now we're bringing innovation to vr gaming. Although i do recall were there. Not some problems. With the playstation five controller specially when it came to we got that figured out hopefully fixed. Hopefully it wasn't too much of a hardware software issue kind of thing so we don't have to worry about that too much for the you know. You know the vr controllers and and to be fair. They look very intriguing. Look very interesting They have shields apparently wack something. Maybe have a little bit of time before your hand. Actually smashes through that fan. In only reason i bring. That up is because last week rather recently got to actually use in oculus fun and then Milo siblings were showing it off and proceeded punch the fan that they told me prior that they had almost broke before. It was kind of entertaining. i guess we're still figuring out from there that you need a space to play that large enough and high enough that you can basically do whatever you need to do and not worry about falling on something tripping over people punching your hand through a wall or the ceiling fan or a light so it is kind of changing where you can play it it. It's it's working on it that much. I can't

Fresh off blockbuster acquisition, Microsoft will add 20 Bethesda games to Xbox Game Pass

"Learn more at attleboro dot com slash talking listeners. It's brett molina. And i'm mike schneider and welcome back to talking tech as we look ahead into the video game crystal ball. Many felt that. Sony has the best lineup of exclusive games coming to the playstation five in the months ahead. But it's possible. That picture is changing. Microsoft has officially completed. Its seven point five billion dollar acquisition of cinemax media which is the parent company of bethesda soft works. Anyone who was into playing video games does the name bethesda. It's created such games as the elder scrolls and fallout plus it on several other studios including it software which created doom and wolfenstein. One upcoming game from bethesda studio death loop is in development arcain studios that will actually be a playstation exclusive when it arrives in may but future bethesda studio games will be xbox exclusives. Xbox gamers will still see immediate rewards from this deal. Microsoft is planning to bring additional bethesda games to its xbox game pass subscription service within days said xbox head phil spencer so xbox game pass which has been gaining in popularity will likely get a boost. Out of this I checked it has about eighteen million pain members that they pay ten dollars a month or more for the service. For instance you can also get it for fifteen dollars if you include xbox live which if you play online multiplayer games you need that anyway and the thing with game pass to is. They haven't just been showing off like games. They've also tried to do a lot of microsoft gains day and date so you can actually buy the game or you can try it out on game pass and i wouldn't be surprised if we see that in a similar way with bethesda where we see a lot of their games available maybe day and date on xbox game pass so

'Elder Scrolls 6', 'Starfield' news: Xbox drops a big exclusivity clue

"If you know elder scrolls sakes sky rim to For those who don't know what elder scrolls is The new skyrock essentially comes to old platform and cost seventy bucks on sony's playstation the you can turn around and go to the xbox and get the xbox game pass which includes that game and a hundreds more for ten bucks a month so if you wanna give microsoft your money through sony you're welcome to but you so get that thing for much cheaper. Think it could make sense that. I think that just has people wondering why would anything be exclusive to xbox then if game pass is is the big advantage why why antagonize people by doing that. Well because they still want to get people in their eco-system which is the whole point of exclusives It's really it really comes down to content you know. We're entering an age video games. That is Analogous to the age we've entered in You know tv. I don't even want to say. Tv but Video subscription service the content and often the exclusive content makes all of it makes everything and they want to get you into that ecosystem because on the xbox eco-system anytime you spend a buck's a buck. You give thirty cents of that buck to microsoft. So it's a balance to strike. They want to get people into the fold. And then milk them on everything they buy on the system So they do need to get people interested in this platform more than another The game pass does a big part of the job. i think but it doesn't do the entirety of the job

"So. Let's talk about a little game called marvel's vendors that i know i never talk about it all and he pick up with or hammer as i read this one. Put a blog post talking about both rewards for xp and cosmetic so. We'll start with a very dumb decision. We'll start with x. P. since we launched last september our balancing has been evaluating the x. p. for leveling from one to fifty and we making some changes to address to core issues the current. Xp curve isn't really a curve at all in most rpg's the amount of xp you need the level up increases as you gain levels in a curve but our system is a straight line. This is led to pacing issues such a skill points currently being rewarded too fast which may be confusing and overwhelming to newer players. We want each decision to invest in a skill to be heroic or meaning in a skill or heroic to be more meaningful based on these issues will be increasing. The amount of needed to level up starting from around level twenty five this amount will increase the closer you get to level fifty so that it will take longer to reach higher levels and will only affect character level not power level if you already have a level fifty character which is the current maximum. This one fact you. If you have a character who isn't level fifty. You want to speed up their progress. Take time to do this. Before we update on march eighteenth of march eighteenth is when hawkeye is dropping the future imperfect storyline content hawkeye character. And we'll probably more importantly for a lot of people the playstation five xbox series x version asked versions of avengers.

When paired with tv's they said that could intensify a longstanding complaint of developers who have struggled with the difference in resolution between hand-held and tv modes and now face a bigger gap between the two that can intensify long cynically. The nudist plays resolution. Mir's the current switch and switch life but is an upgrade from the switches. I'm getting it absolutely. This is the one that i've been waiting for. I think the biggest thing that i took out of this. It's not only as an led screen but the fact that you're because of the power consumption is going to be less. You're going to get more battery life. That's obviously been a big thing that we've wanted with the switch in portable mode on thing which they don't talk about in this that i'm hopeful to see what whenever we we get the unveil. This is better joy cons potentially You know probably thinner. Basil's noted mentioned mentioned it in there as well. The fourcade thing is interesting. It's clearly the logical step to go when it's going to be in tv mode so speak. Yeah i guess. I really don't care when it comes nintendo with four k And i know there's obviously been some speculation with developer support on this. How are if it is going to be going from. Seven twenty pm scaling. All the way up to four k is that gonna put just make an extra workload for developers. Like i said to me if it stated tonight ep but it had better battery life better a bigger screen. That's enough i. I would be happy with that to me. The switch ninety percent of the time. Epic Games Acquires the Developer of Fall Guys

"Sports package from E Sports Network epic games has an art style and by God, they're doing everything they can to lock every single game with that art style down fall guys feels fortnite e and many ways both games have the colorful graphics and the cube, but often really complex game play and that complexity led to both games eventual downfall now fortnite has a completely fallen off in the way that fall guys has but both games kind of reached a skill cap. Where wasn't fun for the Casual Gamer that much for it. I was always going to come down to earth a little bit from the highs it reached and the 2017-2018 even 2019 range but fall guys has fallen off completely after was released. The game was one of the top 5 most played games on Steam for a few weeks it dominated twitch with a dog. Streamers playing it and it's high as the game reached a peak of 107 two thousand people playing all at the same time in the last 24 hours the peak players the game. Was it just over nine thousand consider a game reaches Peak just weeks after launch Focus has basically been on a steady downward trajectory the games entire life span. Now, of course, they couldn't really go up at all because they started off the top but the continued decline even as the player base has shrunk to 1:15 of its highest size is definitely a big cause for concern. So in steps epic games one big issue for fog was there was only available on PlayStation and PC capping the potential audience the developer is still continuing his plans to become available on switch and Xbox with Epix resources that may come even sooner fall guys will also be made on Steam for the time being but it will also become available on the epic game store after epic games acquired psionics the developers of Rocket League rumor started swelling to the game would go free-to-play and while it took a lot longer than expected dog. Probably did drop that entry price this past summer according to the release Fall. Guys isn't immediately going free-to-play and will continue to cost nineteen ninety nine. If I had to guess that will change as well after a some time to collect Revenue off the new platforms when it's released for Xbox and the switch full

"Hey mark and each week we review a free to play game and talk about it on the show but on off weeks such as this. We talk about other things gaming news gaming review. We talked about other things But this week the biggest news in gaming is that our very own mark has found himself the elusive. Ps five. i get it. But i'm not going to so yes. I did happen to get a hold of a slightly used but no brand new straight from from the playstation store. And let me tell you. This was a whole complete process. That almost out that. I ever really wanted this thing Simply because If you've been living on iraq the playstation five is in credibly popular for Really reasons i don't. I don't quite understand but I mean the playstation as a brand as popular. But i don. I don't understand why the playstation five is so insanely popular quarantine. Guess people need things to do now right. That's probably the that's probably a an accurate guest. But the i said it's accurate right etched in stone the So yeah i spent so. When the when the playstation five i came out this podcast is documentation behind both of us saying that we were gonna wait However long it was gonna take for both microsoft and sony to get all the bugs out of their brand new consoles before we've in attempted to dive in and So i made the decision. And that's why didn't preorder the the ps five and when i After it launched and after reading reviews about how how great of a console it it. It appears to be people that that play games on it. And how you know rave reviews on the controller and how how blind novas reporting. It's setting on fire or giving you three death. Yeah right and you know. It appears to be a really good counsel. I was like man i was like. I should've. I should've preorder this thing. So i made the decision that if i was if the opportunity arose for me to get one i was going to get one. And that's that started the the process of being constantly let down by various retailers Walmart being cheap from yes and They can come with their lawyers. But i don't do that. I'm an edit that out. i don't want you so but There was multiple occasions. Where i thought that i had obtained one only to be Told otherwise after after pushing the checkout button and it was just a whole long process and in many people in in the in the world were harvey process. It seems like it translates into just faster response with your computer and it doesn't have to pull from the hard disk frequently. The system also had eight megabits or one bite of v Ram. That's video ram. I'm guessing you guys can figure out what is meant to do. It had its own G Effects Graphics Processing Unit It's supported twenty four channels of sound with its own dedicated for mega bits of sound Ram with a sampling frequency of forty. Four point one kilohertz. I've talked about sampling frequencies on other episodes. I'd rather not jump off topic to talk about it right now. So I'm going to ignore this diversion which is very unlike me and soldier on. It could also support up to four thousand sprites not the drink Sprites in computer graphics are two dimensional bit maps. They're very important. Especially in the old arcade scene and they integrate into larger scenes. You can kind of think of them as objects in this context. The playstation could create three D rendered graphics. In fact it was Intended to do so now. Those three D rendered graphics are fairly primitive by today's standards. But the playstation could also support full motion video guys if you've never explored the world of full motion video or FM v Games. You GotTa do some searches on Youtube. The industry was more than a little puzzled about how they might be able to use. Live action video to enhance video games. The results ranged from interesting. Maybe a little limited. But you could see where they're going and you can appreciate their creativity all the way down to the cringingly hilarious. There's a Tim Curry Frankenstein game. That is out of this world as far as cringe goes I love it so much. So there are many terrible performances an F. M. V. Games and it is glorious anyway these capabilities of the system set the playstation. Apart from stuff like Nintendo's sixty four system one thing. The original playstation didn't have was an internal storage drive. This was not unusual in early consoles. I mean in the old days there was no way to save your progress in a game at all you would play until you ran out of time or energy your patients or whatever maybe your mom told you to get off the video game system in turn off the TV and then if you did turn off the system everything would go away. As far as the game is concerned the next time you turn everything on. You would have to start over from the very beginning. There was no saving your progress. The playstation was no different. So if you did want to save your progress you have to invest in some memory cards. The memory cards were these plastic cards that you could slot into the game system. They had these little slots that were just above the two game controller ports on the front of the console h memory could hold one hundred twenty eight whole kilobytes of data. That's it's not very much speaking of controllers. Gamers are probably pretty familiar with the dual shock controller. But that would actually come out later several years. After the playstation I debuted. The dual shock has stuff on like to thumbs sticks. But the original playstation one controller did not have them sticks it had four direction buttons up down left and right and then had the four round buttons designated with colorful shapes. There's the green triangle at the top the Red Circle at the right the blue exit the bottom and the pig square on the left. And since I'm more of an XBOX Gamer I do own A. Ps Four than I play more games on the xbox in the PS four going from an xbox controller to lay station controller. Means that for the first half hour or so. I just keep hitting the wrong buttons. So that's a me problem. It's not a problem with the system. That's the problem with with me. Jonathan Kutaragi team had the playstation ready to launch in Japan. In December nineteen. Ninety four. The company would wait almost a year before launching it in North America and the company also aimed to launch the playstation one week after the projected launch date of the Sega Saturn console. Take some again. Some of the steam out the engines of of Sega and while the team was hard at work on the hardware there was a question about the games themselves at this stage. Sony did not have an internal video game development team for the playstation. They had a video game unit but that was focused more on computer games at the time. Nintendo and Sega had several other companies all had first party developers working for them which meant their consoles were guaranteed to have launched titles. Ready to go. Now there's not a guarantee on the quality of his launch titles but some companies like Nintendo generally do pretty well with that. Sony was more dependent upon relationships with third party developers other companies. That would make games to run on the system. Some of that was actually pretty easy for Sony to do. Some of those relationships were easy to form largely. Thanks to Nintendo See. There were companies that were sort of jerked around when the intendo changed policies about whether or not it was ever going to release a CD based system for example the famous video game developers square which was responsible and is responsible for the insanely popular final fantasy series. That was one of the companies that got kind of burnt by nintendo. They dedicated resources to creating titles for system. That never saw the light of day so they were receptive to. Sony's pitch to make games for that system instead. Now one monkey wrench in that particular approach came from inside Sony Computer Entertainment America or S C E A. This was a North American branch of the company that would oversee operations in sales in North America. So the thought was that markets in North America and the market in say Japan are very different. And thus you need different strategies to make products success in their respective regions they general philosophy. Being certain games might sell really well in one place but they're never gonNA go over well in another so games could do incredibly well. In Japan were seen as being completely unmarketable in the United States. Well the head of S. C. E. A. At that time as playstation was getting ready to launch was a guy named Bernie stoler and stoler had his own requirement as far as game development went for the playstation so the playstation could run games with three. D rendered graphics which is obviously one D better than two D graphics. Right I mean it's in the name. So Stiller put in place a policy known. North American Games would feature two D graphics. All new games needed to be three. This makes me think of there was a time at Disney. When Pixar films were doing really well where you had executives at Disney suggest that perhaps all Disney films should move to computer animation. That hand-drawn animation was no longer popular and that computer animation was just superior from market standpoint. It's kind of not really taking reality into account so just as that wasn't true that hand-drawn animation can have a place. It's the story that's really important. So is the same for video games. Three D is not inherently better than two D. it's also in the execution and and what the game play. Is the connection to the Gamer. So that meant some games like final fantasy. Seven would not have a place in the North American market. Initially at least miles long as stoler was in charge now he did leave Sony about a year after the launch of the play station in the United States and then he went to work for drum roll. Please Sega as president and chief operating officer he restructured. The company which was rough had about three hundred people laid off as a result and he was trying to prepare the company for the launch of the Sega dreamcast. Now you may have heard of the dreamcast. But seeing as there's no dreamcast five coming out this year. That pretty much tells you how everything went down. Let's get back to Sony. Even if a video game developer had not been burned by Nintendo. A lot of them were eager to try to create games. For the Sony. Playstation console was clearly more powerful and more capable than other systems that were currently on the market and so sone began to create partnerships with various developers and they shared information about the playstations design so the developers could optimize their code to run on a playstation. Once it was ready to go. Sony also would send out developer versions of the console. So he's we're working models that weren't yet in the final consumer format but they were designed so that game developers could test their games. Make sure that they actually ran on the hardware. The pre production work paid off. The playstation would launch with a decent library of titles. Right from the start now the launch titles for the PS one in North America included games like battle arena to Shindand which was one of the first if not the actual first fighting game to have both three d rendered cape characters wielding and capable of sidestepping meaning. They could move deeper or more shallower in the field of view so typically in these sort of fighting games you can move left or right across the screen but you can't move closer to or further from the view of the person playing then there was espn extreme games because this was in the nine. Neeson back then. Everything had to be extreme. Other was a first person shooter called Kelly Ac the DNA imperative which I never even heard of until I did the research for this episode. There was the incredibly popular in NBA Jam Tournament Edition. There was a game called Ridge Racer another popular game in that line up. There was also a street fighter. Game in that lineup. Although it was street fighter the movie edition so you know take that with a grain of salt it also had Raymond that was another launch title and there were several others as well. After stoler left the playstations library in North America began to include titles like final fantasy seven. This good thing too. Because that title would become the second most popular playstation one title of all time selling ten million units. The other big one was grand tourism. Oh a racing game the console already enjoying some early success was on the road to making it big now. We'll continue our story of the playstation and the line of playstation consoles in our next episode. This one focused a lot on the prehistory of the console but future episodes are going to look more closely at the consoles themselves. The game franchises that exist. Thanks to the playstation line and the broader impact on culture and society. If you guys have suggestions for future episodes of tech stuff whether it's a company Specific technology a personality intact. Maybe it's just a concept intact that you want to learn more about let me know. Send me a message. You can send it on twitter or facebook that my handle at both of those is tax.

"To textile production from iheartradio. Hey there in welcome to text up. I'm your host Jonathan Strickland. I'm an executive producer with iheartradio in lovell, all things tech, and if things sound a little differently to you, it's because we are currently going through our own social distancing program over with the studios in Atlanta so whenever we can. We're recording from home. Some actually recording from home today, which means on different equipment also means that there could be some background noises. You might hear my dog tilt at some point, or maybe a train or something, because I live near train tracks, I will try if I notice to stop. Speaking so that Tari super producer can cut out anything particularly, loud or distracting. And we can just focus on the thing that's remained the most consistent throughout the entirety of this show. My low bar for content quality I'm kidding. Of course. Content is always most important for me, so let's get to it so and December two thousand and nineteen. The Sony Playstation Console turned twenty five years old and this year that being twenty twenty, we anticipate the release of the latest in the line of playstations, the playstation five, in fact as I was going into record this the presentation about playstation five was just starting to wrap up at what would have been the Games developer conference or the game developers conference I plur allies, the wrong word there, but that obviously did not actually happen person because of fears of the coronavirus and Cova nineteen, but they did it online, so I will talk about playstation five a little. Little bit later but first. I wanted to talk about the history of the playstation, and how the platform has changed over the years, and how it's played a big role, not just in the video game industry, but in tech in general, and we'll have a few opportunities to talk about some specific types of tech the way to explain how it works, so my guess is, this is going to take a few episodes, and our story starts with demand credited for making the playstation a thing Guy who is often referred to as the father of the playstation Ken Kutaragi. Now Kutaragi was born in Tokyo Japan in nineteen fifty. His family owned a small printing business and could Ruggie was adept student, and became interested in mechanical systems early on that was the curiosity that his family encouraged hitter enjoyed. You'll building simple things like amplifiers, so you know typical kids stuff. After he progressed through regular schooling, he enrolled in an electrical engineering program at didn't key Tsushhin University and I'm sure I'm butchering these names and I apologize for that. He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in Nineteen, seventy five, and upon graduation he joined the Sony Corporation as an engineer. According to Kutaragi, he applied to Sony specifically because the company had a reputation for giving engineers, the resources needed to try new things to be creative, which is something he really enjoyed. Our. We're going to skip ahead to the nineteen eighties, so at this point Kutaragi has been working for the Sony Corporation for several years, and now he had a daughter who was into video games on the Nintendo. Entertainment. System Kutaragi watched his daughter playing games and figured that there just might be something to this whole video game business, and he saw the potential in what was then a niche industry. Now at the time, the Sony Corporation didn't really have any plans for making video game consoles or video games in general. They were a hardware company and they weren't looking to get into that industry. When Nintendo began working on the successor to the Nintendo entertainment system or any s also known as FAMICOM and other places. Kutaragi would make a move that wasn't universally accepted. He made a deal Nintendo to develop these sound chip for the Super Ns also known as the S. P., C. Seven hundred now a word about this chip. It's a co-processor meaning it's similar to a CPU or GPU in some ways, the SBC seven hundred is an eight bit chip meaning it can handle A. A maximum word size of eight bits now that means that it can handle data that's of eight bits or smaller in size, a bit is a binary digit that means it is a digit that can have a value of either zero or one, so this processor can handle a unit of data that was up to eight of those digits in a row. So you can have. Eight, zero eight ones or any combination of eight of those those two digits, modern processors can handle units that are thirty, two or sixty four bits in size, and that might not sound like a big deal, but you have to remember that you can use just eight bits to represent the numbers zero to two hundred, fifty five, so two hundred fifty six different values with thirty two bits. You can represent more than four billion numbers with sixty four bits. You can represent more than eighteen Quinn tillerson numbers, so you see very quickly. How a larger processor processor with a a larger word size capability! Can Handle much more information at once, which in turn means that you can handle much more complicated processes. That's what it really boils down to for us from a user perspective, so an eight bit processor has a limit to the amount of information it. Can you know process? Those limitations manifest themselves in different ways so with a video game console. You're talking about the stuff like the quality of the graphics and the sound. Creating dedicated ships to handle certain processes can push back limitations a little bit because you're off loading those those roles off the CPU and onto a co-processor, but it can also add to some negative stuff like they can add to the amount of heat being generated inside the device, or how much cost it adds to the final product, the goal is to get the most bang for your buck from manufacturing. Manufacturing side as well as from consumer side now the processor speed for this sound chip. One Megahertz that means it could complete one million cycles per second. A hurts is a cycle, so a cycle really is sort of a step in instructions are think of Allah task. You might have to do and then break that task down into steps. Some tasks are so simple. They only have one step right so. So if the SPCA seven hundred had instructions that all just required one step then that chip would be able to carry out one million instructions per second. I'm over simplifying a little bit here, but it's just to illustrate a point, but now we get to the tricky part some instructions. Some tasks require more than once step, so you've got a million cycles per second a million steps per second but you. You might not be able to carry out one million tasks per second. Because some of those tasks, we'll have additional steps. So in the case of the SPCA seven, hundred most of the instructions it was carrying out, had an average of two steps, so really was carrying out about half a million instructions per second, not a full million, because again each instruction on average required to cycles, so what I? I just described can actually be applied to all sorts of processors, not just the SBC seven hundred, so if you've heard terms like the computers, processors is three point four gigs that means it's running at a speed of three point. Four gigahertz that means it can do three point four billion cycles per second, so it can carry out three point four billion steps of instructions every second, but those instructions might. Might be enormous in the number of cycles requires. So you know your mileage varies? It all depends upon the complexity of what you're running as well as the speed of the processor. If you've heard the term over clocking, which more typically applies to computers than consoles, there refers to the practice of removing some of the safeguards on processors so that they can operate at a higher clock speed than what they. They were originally rated for so maybe a computer manufacturer with a processor that they say is rated for three point two Gigahertz, but you overclock it, so it runs at three point four gigahertz. So what you've done you remove some of those limitations. The processors going to run faster also hotter and hopefully we'll be stable enough so that you get extra performance out of it now on a related note. Note some manufacturers actually build in specific limitations on their on their chips, not for safety purposes, but so that they can sell the exact same chip in different classes right so they might have a a limiter on a chip that means it won't run faster than three Gigahertz and that same chip, but packaged in a different way can run at three point two Gigahertz, but the limiter has been adjusted. There are companies that do this because it saves cash, it saves money on production. You just make the same chip a whole bunch of times you put different limiters on them, and then you can sell them for different markets to maximize your profit, but it also means that someone figures out how to remove those limiters. They can suddenly get a top of the line processor, but for a much lower cost because they just bought one that had been had the brakes turned on essentially,.

"Okay read dead redemption oh it's listed here but there's no price isn't it like isn't it a flat structure a thought isn't it like in the old days what it was like pergame ten bucks inland and there was like a unlimited thing for 30 mo allowing remembered him i know i thought it was a i i don't i didn't think there was a a flat fee that you can get you everything but i'm looking now what is playstation f the fact that let's go there wikipedia bench gave the first month for ninety nine right okay okay that's where i'm get hung up on the nine any night business i'm looking hike how much does it cost and it's not on there as a underplays vision now website that's weird why would they i would they not don't you think i would not do that yes he so a onemonth month interaction offer often get you for nine any i a 12month subscription here one hundred lives one hundred bucks for twelve months if you're so that's what like eight bucks a month roughly sure let's give medicine not bad now the still streaming and i it but i'm i mean i'm you in the are not the people for this now as i am i am very much like oh man i d i saw when cycle nuts too got delayed 2019 and we're talking about that in this shows like me i shall never play the original second nuts i went home and i bought it for like two books in downloaded announcing their acquisition you classic i'm way more inclined to do that than i am to get out there and i think the reason why we were so like against playstation now in different all the reasons that you were talking about was that the game library for a long time was just very lacking in newark titles everything they were released scene was was old or is like these really small titles you play a game for like a couple of hours and then you were done and the wait time between when a aaa game was released when it was added to position now was substantial enough that like you said like it you could just by it for less and but it'll maybe it's time to take.

"And a woman who had been tasked with minding him for the production working for the company and again needed her job texted me late at night and said this comedian would like to see you in his room and the person he was seeing was a friend of mine and i was like no that's okay on good for seeing him in his room and she texted back and said he really wants to see you in his room and i was like i'm sure he does i'm sure he really wants to see me and has room i do not want to go to his room and she texted back at the time and said he wants to tell you something he wants to see wants to show you something arms that yes i'm sure he wants to show me something i do not want to see him then he texted me himself saying my playstation didn't turn up and i was like that is the lowest possible bomb that i am a substitute for a playstation i mean at least i want to be an xbox that's the story i saw he was much more famous comedian the me but he always behaved every time i saw him like i could make you'll break you and he couldn't i was always like you could and you'll barely making yourself and i was furious by it but i'm away if i was that bit more isolated in my life or he was that bit more powerful or a combination of the two absolutely something much worse could have happened so is not a funny story but i've told of as a funny story is a story to a very influential male theater practitioner who is very famous.

"Alex wrote in in the lobby wrote in about this i put alexsandr the like oh man people aren't that mad about it in and all the rest of responses were mad but there were also sign it kind of saying the same thing but outs is not representative the group asks writes in a says one of your at encounter accomplish cave just like you can't does hey happy friday greg in tim grim i got an email today telling me that my playstation plus membership is increasing in price and then he goes back to being pounds to 3999 to forty nine ninety nine annually in the uk this doesn't really bother me i still planning on join the online play an playstation plus free games each month but i wonder if you think this might mean that they'll be anything new for playstation plus users in the near future could be integrating pius now services as dini in greg were discussing in the previous podcast could we'd be getting free playstation vr games as part of our monthly games or cui paying extra to finally be able to change our names or maybe do they now need to do anything differently because this is just online's what online services need to cost these days love all you do kinda funny team alex that alex hits on what a lot of people were upset about it's going up in price in most of the responses were okay i don't like pay more but okay the main thing was like why there was no explanation there's no statement one of the questions was talking about the fact that you're the playstation uk twitter you go to the playstation bog over there it was buried on the blog it wasn't there there was no hey everybody were increasing this because of this and even if in so many people were like similar what you're saying or may used what acts it may be do they now need to do anything differently because this is just what online services need to cost these days that also is in okay statement i feel like this was not a huge bungle but it's definitely like we lost the message here hey you're things are going up.

"Qinshan a leaflet from the so up pretty good transition uh any who the minecraft again it's this is a game that's so many different ages play uh the community for it is continuing to grow um jess seeing that peers for his i don't know if this was i'm guessing list on ps four side a playstation cited just tenant reject this idea which is a shame and i i do think within the next year year and a half they will uh definitely join a uh was on that multiplatform uh because there's no way they could stay there forever because then all those start losing business because a lot of people that can't afford a nice pc um even though i kraft is not really a incredibly powerful game to run um it does take a decent council or pc to run the game so it is is to me it's dumb i hate saying that being excluded because i know a lot of friends that again we all have uh we all have pcs to work off of and a play games off of others don't and they want to join that that game play on the same server perhaps and they can't but yet like arc uh orcs arrival uh that is being supported by playstation and that's great because that allows server hosting and so many other things to come to playstation which will be really nice 'cause everybody wants to host their own server.

"He sanctis playstation it's a waste of time to show this montage but that montage did always lead to an article on ig and that was the 10yearly games they showed them so not to get that space year now as an in the already fighting it's the three as whoever trying to find i think about moss is a great example right of a game that got to second whatever our two minutes during the playstation vr rundown did actually get a ton of people i what was that mouse game in then all of these article i did see on i want to say i gene polygon game spot of like qatar who like that mouth here's them a us we didn't let's play of it right there that mouse game saw is actually what is actually cute one of our gives the show exactly so to come out and be like in these are less relevant wastes the time it's just the roma for the argun troop but but i think it's an it's any to because paul you're anyways we're going to try it is this thing of it's just tonedeaf messaging it's the wrong thing to say to the people who got you here it is the show it is the worry that is playstation starting in turn back into playstation appears three and where they have too much hubris they aren't scared of anybody there you'll pay five hundred ninety nine us dollars for the next council now i really i really hope not i mean when we still have things like pius x i think pius x this year's can be really interesting because they have different tactics they've learned from the last couple of years with the release calendar anna their showcase has changed at e3 how it is delivered has changed them having appreciable like there's different things happening and i wonder if up yes x this year it is going to be.

"Hmm that's better really i don't they can facilitate revolution i i think i would that sony's playstation pros because they've got playstation vr right like dacha killer experience that people are willing to shell money out for i don't see box having that in i i just say like last thing to say here it's worth taking second and like from a game played design perspective thinking about what prettier graphic served and it's one thing it's a quality we call immersion in game designed that's it that's the only point an like is there any difference in plain morio cart eight on the switch verses playing it on we you not really i it's it's called i can carried around and that's how it's different but these small graphic illustrations they've really don't matter i they they just so that's my opinion i think it's interesting though that that is one of the ways that these games are often and these councils are often marketed and and we talk about the high end i think the existence of the low end the existence that it within a platform there is an entry level that will play all the games they just want look as good i think there's some strengthen that because for a lot of consumers like me it's not necessarily i don't necessarily need to pay more for the super high resolution graphics and i don't have to whereas if there's a single consul model and it has to be built as part of a speck war with the opposition then it's going to be more expensive so it's you know maybe this is interesting in that respect to that y it allows you to have a uh a an entry level console which is not something that that used to happen there was just the consul was the one that you could get.
