"Quarterback to another. Let's get to the tampa bay buccaneers. They're one in three in the last four games which is of course since they sign in tonio brown. Oh look i'm just pointing it out. Is it a coincidence. That's up for debate during this tough. Stretch the bucks. Offense is scoring nearly a touchdown less per dame than they were from weeks. One to eight back to that debate though for tom brady. Specifically he's registered a qbr of sixty two when brown on the field and seventy two when he's off the field so key. Why has the offense looked worse when adding a piece like in tonio brown into the mix. You know as tough as dan. We'll tell you got received that you may have to try and get the football. But here's what i would say. No here's what. I was just happens to be the situation. I don't think they're just don't think that they're in rhythm. That's what it is. They're trying to many toys. And i say this is the beginning of the year or when they sign antonio when you have so many good players you almost force bar left which is almost forced to have to figure out how to keep everybody happy and it falls on tom brady. Tom brady is not used to have five or six. Different weapons to deal with so now. You're forcing him to have to look at everybody on top of that. They've played good teams now. It's not like they played a bunch of bums you think about the saints in the chiefs and some of these other teams that they've played but i know one thing. This is a must win against the minnesota vikings or they will find themselves looking on the outside and tampa and somebody else playing in their stadium. Come super bowl sunday. They're currently seven five dan. What are your thoughts on. What you just turn key sack. Just because you can doesn't mean you should just because you can throw it around the lot to all those receivers doesn't mean you should having wide. Receiver talent is intoxicating mistress all those wider it all and you're like man. I just wanna throw it all the time. Your identity is wrong. You play football outside in tampa bay right now. I've been saying it all year played inside out. Put the multiple tight ends on the field. That's what you do best. Why because you're run game becomes a bigger part and then you're more apt to utilize flash and pass it simplifies. The defense brady confined the matchup that he wants. Gronk in the red zone camera running away from leverage safeties. That play action. Chunk happens a little bit more for your offense. So they've got to stop thinking. How many different ways can we get the ball to the receivers and start thinking. What's the best way to get the ball to the receivers. Put your tight ends on the field. Run the football. That have been more us play action pass. Those receivers are good enough to win their one on one match ups and they will please. Because if you can't i can't back you as a playoff contender. Stop running it on first down okay. Anyway but they have had a well-timed by week. Marcus maybe that helps them to get some of this figured out man. I liked what key and dan saying but in my mind all i could hear when they was talking was i just wanna scream the bruce areas that burn liquids figure it the hail out. Yes everybody wants the players that you have everybody wants to have that type of roster now we go cry about them having too many people older downfall is they give me too much family. Man get the hell out of. He'll win brady winter tampa. That was the reason he went. There is because they already had godwin and mike a wanted to be briefed in rob gronkowski and oj. How was already death. Camera breath all of this. Talk about the weapons in antonio brown hailed. Now we've been talking about this. Before antonio brown entered the fray so look the bottom line is when you have all of their talent. It is the responsibility of the coach to make sure it can go as plan. you know. It is very difficult when you are not used to having four and five different guys at the skill position that you gotta try to satisfy what it is true though yes coaches get caught up in trying to satisfy guys that have a lot of talent because they don't want their talent to go away. That's why guys become good in this league. You look at the kansas city chiefs. You can point them. They got a lot of talent but they're used to. Having patrick. mahomes has never been had lack of talent. He's always had tom brady on the other hand. This is all new to him. These still trying to figure out. Who's my guy whenever he gets into trouble. Who's the first person. He goes gronkowski. Because he knows that that's the guidance i trust. Well it's interesting too because you bring up the chief so much of that is they've got the scheme that works with all those weapons which i think brings it back to our initial point here. Let's talk about one of those weapons for tampa bay bringing back. Adam schefter for this and some news coming. In this afternoon. Mike evans health. Well before we get to that. I should say in tampa. It's always the same tampa. Just get the ball to key. Whatever you do. Get the ball to kate. In tampa astra mike evans asleep. Hey adam catering to have like a serious face for a second there and he just couldn't even help jay go ahead alone. Still believes it. All right as for mike evans was limited in practice on wednesday but did not practice at all today so basically a set back from where he was or step back from where he was yesterday which has to be a little bit of a troubling sign for a team coming off a bye week and he's gone from limited to not practicing all one day to the next so maybe it is a good idea to go to tight ends this weekend working inside out. Maybe they won't have the excellent wide receiver. Mike evans this weekend. In which case keep throwing the ball the key there you go. That's always the answer. Hey evans not the only big-name keeping an eye on in that division. What do we know about drew brees status for this weekend size. Continue to point to drew brees. Not playing this weekend was president of practice. Today was not going through the drills with the teams however obviously recovering from the eleven fractured ribs. The punctured lung. And it's a situation. Where basically right now shaping up as another start for tastes them ill as for daniel jones limited in practice today due to the hamstring injury. Joe judge already said that he's optimistic. That jones will be out there on sunday against the arizona cardinals. If he can't play obviously told mccoy would be the backup right now. The giants are counting on jones. Being there as for zeke. Elliot of the cowboys were practising zeke. Would not be out there. Judo calf injury in fact they said that it's a situation whereas limited wednesday. They don't expect you to practice much before sunday. They play the bengals. Maybe they'll be working in a little bit more. Toni powered on sunday against cincinnati christian. Mccaffrey is not expected to play on sunday against denver. According to matt rule the panthers coach who held out mccaffrey from practice today. Due to a.

"playoff" Discussed on College Football Live

"Hypotheticals at this point but the general consensus amongst the college commissioners is. Let's try to get these games. Played when there's already scheduled to be played so as we try and break that down desk. The question is the following question. Easy here is. Should they be delaying the college football playoff. Tell you what. That's a really really tough question because we we dealing with the virus is so unpredictable. And i remember back in the summertime. People predicted that this will have a second wave and now we see the numbers of start to spike again. I'm not sure if this is considered the second wave and the thing is we have absolutely no idea how long it's going to last day. Delay delay just might not be the answer. I tell you what though. I do not envy the college football playoff selection committee. Because they're gonna have their hands for bob and weave and be extremely flexible and trying to determine who were the team that they're going to pick to be in the college football playoff so it's about being able to adapt in the judge and coach right now. I don't know if extending the season coach is going to help at all. I don't think it's a call that we need to make yet. Because as you said desmond there's so much unpredictable unpredictability right now and we don't know what's going to happen. What i do know is this. Is we become very adept at adjusting and as you said at bobbing and weaving and and i think that these people will make the right decisions. When they are forced to make the right decisions. I love the fact that they're considering everything. They're open to everything but they're staying on schedule to have the bulls and to have the college football playoff and championship game at the appropriate time. So you know we just have to stay flexible. And i think we've done a great job. Stan flexible solicit stay flexible. Let's keep talking about it. Let's keep the dialogue going Let's keep the kids the players. The parents all informed but Let's just hope Let's just hope that we get to that point where we can actually have that game coach. I appreciate the optimism. And the hope. But i'm also trying to be released here so heather i mean if you look back to the way. The summer went down. These conferences did not work together to figure out how they were going to play. Are they going to be able to work together. Now when it comes to getting the college football playoff to come to one decision that benefits everybody. I think they have to. And i think the answer to that question is yes there are meeting and they are talking regularly and i think at this point. It's certainly a different situation than it was in the summer and that everyone is playing now and just to further emphasize. Some of the points of the guys spoke about. There is no cutoff date for making this decision. They would like to go as long as they possibly can gather as much information as they possibly can. It could be a month from now that this decision is made that being said. I think that they all have to work together to do it. In one of the questions that they're facing is what happens if you move heaven earth to push this playoff back and find some tv window somewhere around the nfl playoffs. And then you have one of the semi-finalists or one of the teams playing in the national championship. They have an outbreak and they can't play for two weeks. These are the things that they are just talking through right now because does is right. This thing is going anywhere anytime soon. So let me play. Devil's advocate quickly. Here on the sec. And i got to play early. And i did my thing. Why do i want them to do anything right now. That helps the big ten or the pac twelve. Well i think you have to look at the other teams in the conference because it's just not about the sec we're all in this together and You know if you in the playoffs emphasis playoff game. You're gonna play you got. You're not gonna play an sec team. You're gonna play a different from a different conference. So i believe that you have to look at the goodness of the whole. That was best for the whole of college football. Not just for your conference well. Here's according to throw throughout the graphic and we've got to play predictor to give you a little bit of a sense of who right now are stats and info. Group has come up with a metric. I don't understand but it tells us everybody. Who has the best shot to reach the playoffs. You see alabama at number one with eighty nine percent the only team other than alabama with greater than fifty percent shot to make the playoffs ohio state at seventy four percents. Keep an eye on wisconsin over there. We'll get to them. A little later at the bottom.

"Of the year six player of the year however, you want to phrase it so I'm GonNa put you on the spot for smother awards that okay you ready for this. Christie. You and I can go back and forth in in NASCAR differ category But you kind of you started to go there about Asia Beena candidate for MVP does she get the MVP in your mind or is there someone else? I think that Asia is I mean she's absolutely fantastic and phenomenal, and she has been a beast and unstoppable this season. But for me I also think that Brianna Stewart has been saying out of her mind I think that the the moves that she's making is jaw dropping for me as as solid you don't want to not talk about a player like her especially with the numbers and leading the League in scoring but reality Stewart does things that you're like wait did she work on that or does she get naturally? You know I'm in my house like Oh my gosh you know just coming off an Achilles injury. and. I even have her for Comeback Player of the year and Because who can come back off from Keith Rupture and play the type of basketball she's playing I mean you can throw it to her rehab in her third fans but saying that they did a good job Brianna store has been completely unbelievable and when you think about teams missing players, I don't think Seattle can win without renowned steward and that's how I look at MVP candidate is I do I think that bagels can win without as? I, think the ERC handy steps in s by I'll try to attribute MVP of a team that cannot win or cannot play as efficiently as they need to without a specific player for me. That's Brianna steward. Talking about MVP Corny Banner Sloot is also In the list of players who have been mentioned for MVP this year, you're very familiar with her, but who else besides those three would be in the list of players to consider for MVP this year. It's really unfortunate and I think the MVP goes to one of the top two teams, which is crazy and that's why I told at least. I had to come up with an all dog team because their players in his league that don't get as much recognition because their teams don't make it to the postseason and Rica of Gumbo Wa is probably my top one if she was able to make it to that one. Or two spot because she she's unguardable. She's unseat nobody nobody can stop her and that is unfortunate season on a young team they're growing and I do think that they'll dangers in the years to come because of her in particular. But if I had to pick somebody does not in the playoffs, it would be her corey bandages who definitely with all the records with the the assess eighteen in one game is unheard of. She prides herself on being a point guard and she takes her a moment to score when she builds it is open and that's me is she's she's sue bird we talked about compare them but she's kind of right a bar and she said it really high for the next point guards to come and she's even challenge, and soon as sense who has some years on her and I think that she's been communist she definitely an argument. For MVP to me, it's it's it's one of the top two teams that you have to Kinda give that to because it has to be a player on one of those teams that have set lar- has lifted their team to be in one or two spot. So we go from MVP to a first year player who got for rookie of the year. I'm going with a crystal. Dangerfield. From Minnesota she is unbelievable to me I think that her play in stepping in with Odyssey, Sims. Fan Out Letsie Brown dealing with a couple of injuries she has just been. I mean, her numbers are crazy. She looks confident. She's playing extremely well, and it's to Sabi what have been in that argument to they just happen to drop out of the out of the playoff conversation. But for me is Dangerfield I think the the confidence that she plays with it is she looks like a veteran out there to me and she's leading a team and they're not fighting for a playoff spot. They're in the play offs and I think that she she played shoes. In. Kennedy Carter is also a player who is well beyond her years in terms of our matured eum poise and killer instinct and I think she could be on the dog team to argue. With her as well. I know she missed six games with her ankle that what do you see in her? She. See another player that can be on all dog team but I think Kennedy Carter. She was she was trained well, she put in the work and I feel like now, players kind of know what they're going to expect when they get to the League because they had workouts that they could do with some wnba players before the season can start and I know that she was trying to you know working out with some of the players that I know and before wbz season with maybe coming or not coming but she competence and I think that that's one of the number. One. Things that players they don't think they don't put enough time instead of and I think she has the mental capacity to be able to handle and know that players can't are her, and that's eighty percent of work to me. All One, hundred, twenty, two players in the league are there for a reason and be if was separates players confidence and mental, and to me she she has that she's not afraid and she'll go up against anybody and to me that is why she's going to have. In this. Last one I wanna ask you about an and there's all kinds of awards to hand out of, I'm not sure if you're prepared for this one because you didn't really give it to me under list so I might be putting you on the spot I'm going to take a I'm GONNA take a risk in doing this coach of the year, which to me was one of the toughest choices this year to pick who would you have I think a lot of teams have been coast extremely. Well and I give so much credit to all coaches in such a hard job that they had within the bubble and having to do scouts every other day that is extremely hard. But for me, the coach of the year without a doubt is might CBO and the reason why he is because he's missing Della Darn. He's Missoula Toya Sanders he's mentioned the Tasha cloud area powers has gone Christie Tyler is on another team. He's missing a whole front line and to make it into a playoff spot. After missing the League MVP another MVP that you signed a one of the top defenders and looks way sanders to me Kristie caliber wanted a top point guards in the League area powers a go getter slasher player that just GonNa go get a bucket Sydney. Me speaks volumes on what he has done with that team and I don't even think it's the comparison on who should get it in my Tibo to me is the coach of the year..

"The one that has had struggles figuring it out. We know how horrid he played against the Los. Angeles. CHARGERS I go round last year against the Tennessee Titans I would remind you all that he ran for one hundred, forty, three yards on twenty hours, and they still lost that game as well, and so pick your way. It doesn't matter if you're not throwing the football effect. As a quarterback. I don't believe you winning. In the postseason in the National Football League, he completed forty eight percent of his passes. In the first playoff game against the charges nearly two years ago last year, he completed fifty two percent of his passes. If those numbers don't change, it's not going to work particularly went Patrick Mahomes Desha Watson, big, Ben Rothlisberger Cam in, and others are in the AFC conference. It's just not going to happen in my estimation he has to win throwing the football and throwing. It effectively, if he's a bona fide pocket passer with the ability to run, we're having a different discussion. No matter of fact, we're not having this discussion because we know what he brings to the table but him being the guy that he has been thus far no, that's not going to be good enough to win the chip in my estimation I don't believe that He. Needs to get better in order for me when the championship but that's different than changing the style of play. Look the more Jackson as a twenty one year old is warrant sharp pointed out was the most accurate passer basically in the history of football like you have to look at it by his age. Now are there at this point in his life twenty, two twenty? Three other guys by this age, we're better passers. Yeah. But the trend is still going in the right direction. Even you said the disastrous playoff performance forty, eight percent although we got better during the performance the next time he was better than the first time and it wasn't his fault that they lost the we had a few he had moments later in the game that. Ran Wild on them and he's re as he ran wild on the Patriots, and if you look at Baltimore their their secondary is good. Their front sevens usually good against the run. They don't get a lot of pressure on the quarterback and when you look at Baltimore, even though it's the quarterback that's running those kind of teams who beat you that. Way Usually do get pressure on the quarterback that's used formula that's not the reason. So they can improve their and yes of course, Lamar Jackson can be better under pressure. Here's the good news. He's gotten better. He was a disaster in the first half of his first playoff game. He was better in the second half still not good enough he was better. In the second playoff game, then he wasn't his first. So saying Stephen A. that he needs to be more accurate as a pastor as he goes on and be legit threat from the pocket. Yeah. That's true with that doesn't really have to change the style he or the Ravens play. If that just means he needs to execute that style a little. Better. I agree there by the way, not even all that much better in order to win a playoff game and maybe not all that much better in order to win a super bowl. That's a very good team with an excellent young quarterback who has certain rooms, certain areas where he can improve and given his age. There's good reason to think he can. We. have in a conversation about changing his style of play in the playoffs. I think that needs to be added because what we're talking about Max and off one hundred percent agree with Stephen A. What we're talking about is your style of play when it's one and done when you have to win one game listen. Lamar. Jackson threw for three hundred, sixty, five yards I think in the playoff game against the titans are through to pigs an also ran for one, forty, three statistically you go look and say man, that's a pretty good game. Of the two picks ten through for eight eight, yours in two touchdowns and there was enough would there be running the ball like he was to win a game. We go hold the more Jackson to lower standard as far as not being able to win those games you're supposed to be able to overcome Rantan, a hill, and in a run game from the Tennessee. Titans when you're as dynamic as Lamar. Jackson with Derrick Henry here's the bottom line. The bottom line is the style was about what you're going to do when you play guys that are prolific pushing the ball downfield and inequality touchdowns. People will argue all they want I say a little more needs to run a little bit less. I'm talking strictly from a standpoint of. Protecting him from injury, but also progressive him alone in those playoff moment because now we're judging the mall playoff. We already know he's a hell of a quarterback. We already know he's top of the League but when you talk about championships. Of Play, he's going to half to tame what he's been doing when he gets to the playoff the order for Baltimore to win the Super Bowl argue some examples people ask me and I'm not saying you gotTa beat. He's got flacco beat cap in the super bowl pain pain men in be cam in the Super Bowl. The we think that cap in Kale weren't good quarterbacks at those times no way I think. That was the year Cam one league. MVP. But his particular style in that game in order to try to win the Super Bowl up change because of our million demarcus ware coming off the edge and you able to operate from the pocket and pushed the ball down the field quickly effectively this is what you talk about Mex- with James and all the time. It's these moments where you possibly have to change your style of. NBA Championship and this also anybody arguing Jackson when he gets to the playoff. Marcus if you switch Cam and Peyton and give campaigns team, you still think that can is losing that game and he didn't play well I criticized him for not jumping on them. I in the Super Bowl ahead. He didn't have the same defense as Peyton. So you're you're you're going to blame the quarterback like you're right. He couldn't overcome it, and if he were even better, he could have. That's true. There's always room for improvement Lamar. Jackson to your at that would give for Blake which brought up. But I'm saying that's not a slide that's an execution within the style thing he can't turn the ball over. Style. True style. Solution the style hold. The style impacts the execution as a as an elite boxing analyst who knows that styles make fight a lot of times. Your actions are predicated on somebody's style because you're going to look at that and say that stall Linka work against this guy if Fraser, what's the problem with Frasier when he went against him, he don't know how to back up how you going to come at George Foreman that don't work alley employs the rope a dope. Okay. That gladys shot and we. Didn't think that would have a shot in and entices heyday. What are we gonNa do you GonNa just walk at Tyson? No you can even do. You could either be Holyfield beat a bully on the block or you could be Bruce Seldon and fake like you got hit and state out and never get touched walk away your definition a winning to collect the millions without ever getting touched and you just faked it. There's a multitude of ways but in the end styles dictate. And Lamar Jackson store. Wait a me going up against the cats he's going to go up against in the AFC right now has been unproductive. But so but but explain to me how that traditionally actually that has worked if the right kind of defensive scheme, if you're a team that scores more slowly than the other team, in fact, what that does is actually slow up the offense of the other team because if you take a while to score and you have time of possession, they can score as fast as they want. You got the ball back and you're chewing up clock. It's a lower scoring game and with a greater possibility of the outcome going either way. Now, you gotta make clutch plays. If you want to argue the Mars got more clutch the playoffs I agree. But guys traditionally a kind of ball control offense with the defense with the right.

"The league and players are taking together to ramp up not just their words but their actions on social justice issues. Here are the key points of that statement. The League will form a social justice coalition in conjunction with the players the governor's means the team owners of. Will work with local officials to convert. Arenas as possible into voting centres of illegal promote voting information throughout advertising during the playoffs I want to dig into all of that a little bit more see who's marks not back with us yet. But per why don't you tell us a little bit about your interest in this because I know you've been working with Lebron and the more than a vote campaign. Why do you think that voting is what sort of came out of these three days of conversations? What think when you look at it, Rachel is is the relationships and I when when they went into the meeting, the players probably were saying, what could we do right now? What could we get our owners to do? What can we present to them and those smart thing was was that to present trying to help you know Voted of you know get voted right for the simple fact that when you think about it, all these owners have these relationships. They have relationships with the governor's the sentences, the mayor's anybody that's in these offices and Dylan political world and I thought that they did a great job with strategizing NBA players, the players. Association. In limited time to figure out something that they could present to the owners. The made sense that they act wrapped complicated just was part of. Perk absolutely I think we have experienced back with us. Now Mark Welcome and You know the the statement that we're talking about focuses a lot on voting and tangible action. How did they arrive at that point after these three days of discussions? To Perks Point I. Think they wanted something that they could do now the as you know rates over the last of days, I think the players had to wait at a world of him and trying to solve everything. So they have like, what could we do now that we could make an immediate change, its voting they need to work within themselves. Now, because only about twenty of them percent of them are registered. So what they're doing is trying to league-wide get every arena available to vote. Obviously, this is in the United States is includes twenty eight arenas, and if a deadline passed where you cannot use that arena for voting purposes, they still want to be used in some fashion or form to. Help voting. So they're putting their efforts toward that and they're also putting their efforts towards police reform, which they feel like in this short amount of time, they can make some immediate impact. So I WANNA follow up on two things he said I with you. You just casually mentioned that only twenty percent are registered but that really stuck out to me and your reporting mark when you were giving the Tiktok of what had happened in that Wednesday night emotional meaning your reported the Chris Paul got up in front of the group looked around at everyone and said a version of you want change while only twenty percent of you are registered to vote is that from a union survey what was that conversation? Chris Pause been able to get every member to thunder registered to vote and I, think he's privy to information league wide and so yeah that was certainly embarrassing for all the players. The NBA hopefully can get something done here where they could get these guys registered ain't going nowhere. So I think every team rep needs to make that like one of their main objectives before people leave to get every player registered to vote because it's one thing to talk about it but if you aren't registered watching I listen to you anyway. So they they need to really be about it and get registered before they could. Talk about Nathan, let us sense and the other thing I wanted to follow up on his talking about concrete action Ramona. I thought this was so interested in some of the reporting that you've done over the past couple of days. The idea that the Milwaukee Bucks when they were sitting in the locker room after the very beginning of this when they first decided not to walk out onto the court, they got on the phone. Thanks to mark Lazarie the team owner with officials in the Wisconsin government who informed them, what they of course wouldn't know as basketball players is not their job to follow professional legis. Follow political legislation that there was a bill sitting in the Wisconsin state legislature that would do a lot of the things they WANNA do. In fact, nationally, there is a bill to to recharge the Voting Rights Act that sitting at the doorstep of the Senate. The House of Representatives already passed in some of this legislation is already there it's in place for what they want, but it hasn't been passed hasn't been activated. So how are you seeing players get more involved on that score of not just saying, Hey, we need change but really actually becoming super educated where the change points could be. Boy It's it's amazing. What we ask of these guys, right? Yeah. I mean I was on the phone with Mandela Barnes, the the the lieutenant governor there in Wisconsin and he was explaining. The police reform bill that was that that the governor of Wisconsin has propose he's called a special session of the legislature. He said it's been sitting there for two months. I. I didn't know that Rachel did show. On notice at that level? Not. Not. At the Wisconsin they. Expect the bucks to be but to your point now they right. and. Now they are and Andre Iguodala in that meeting brought up to all the players he said look. California has a landmark police reform bill that's that set to be voted on fairly fairly soon dig into that. See what you want to go campaign for what you want to dig into but boy I mean, it just keeps coming back to this for me is. It's not the NBA's job to change the world. Okay. Like Doc rivers just said this this press conference as well. I pay attention to news Rachel. I. Know You do mark. Per but this is a lot they got to play basketball games. They have to speak on subjects like this, and now they're supposed to dig in and understand state politics and how to get things pass at every single level that is a lot to take on and yet if they really want change if this is what they are organizing to do, it's not enough to just say we need change. It's not enough to Hashtag something on twitter or speak out about it. You gotTA gotTa take the next steps you have to up your sleeves and dig into the legal morass and I think that. Is what that's what the players are trying to do in certain spots and and they've been real targeted about that industry in the statement today and it's such. An important distinction rate is not on the NBA players to go out and change the country, and it is by the way never on the people being oppressed, they should not be responsible for fixing the impression that is on the rest of US people who look like you and me Ramona. But that being said, there are players who have been in that bubble mark it bubble life is like it is more mentally taxing than I think people. Realize, and they just feel like they want to do something. So while it is not their responsibility to do something, it is certainly if you want to do something here is an avenue where you can do it and I think that has been helpful for guys that I've talked to in the last couple of days I did WANNA follow up mark on another thing you reported Utah in your story about that Wednesday night meeting about some tension that the Miami the Milwaukee Bucks players rather taken some heat from some other guys in the room particularly the magic felt blindsided by what happened in sort. Of this thread that got pulled and I know that Maki's players has said, hey, we didn't mean to to causes a multi sport multiday walkout. This was just about us not feeling comfortable going back on the court, but obviously, it did have a ripple effect. There's also been reports of tension and a particularly tense moment between union chief, Michelle Roberts and Patrick Beverley of the clippers. So given all of that, how did they get from that somewhat contentious meeting Lebron James? Obviously, left before the meeting was over to a point. Now, where I know you think the players are more unified than they've ever been. Yeah. Well, Chris Paul said. In his media take today that he the next fifteen years in a league players have never been more unify, which basically says over these last forty, eight hours, things have changed dramatically..

"Well keep in mind to that all part of that story from. Nbc pointed out that Two years ago The forty niners were trying very hard to make a trade to get Tom Brady so this is not the first time that they've shown interest. I'm just I'm just pointing out more years on the odometer. Though if Tom Brady is their quarterback last season did they win the Super Bowl director? Do I don't know. Oh look the two running team based on the run. There's no question in my mind that forty-nine or team with Tom Brady. Have you seen Tom? Try to run out of the doesn't come on. Doesn't run for office pouring out of a bottle slowly tap a few times to get moving me getting out of bed to go. This is not something to it. All a okay. Going forward here connects next. Stop just before we wrap this thing up. I WANNA get your thoughts when the smoke clears out of this. A CONNECTS MAKE. The playoffs be distracted. Greenstock job a I'M GONNA stick by my guns because I said at the start of this whole thing in September I thought they'd fall just short Maybe three or four point short having said that they have a favorable supposedly a favourable home schedule. I'd like them to prove me wrong. I have to stick my guns. I really the still favor them. In if you look at games in hand and things of that nature to just something. I've been doing this for too long. And then when you see something start to go south. It goes south in a hurry. I guess I meant. I'm probably in the minority in Vancouver. I think they're gonNA fall just short and I don't think the coach loses his job. You know what this pains me to say that I agree with you on both points. I don't see this team making the playoffs because of what Marx from has meant to them They are a completely different team with. Oh Jacob marks from the way that he has taken his game to that next level has been just nothing short of amazing. I did not see this coming at thirty years of age. To be doing what? He's doing to reinvent himself at that particular level. It's amazing what good coaching can do. his style has changed. He plays big in the net. He does all those things that he should have been doing. You know four five six years ago But Without Markham. This is a team that doesn't play with the same continents And that is a big deal especially when you've got as many kids in that lineup And there is something that is also terms of lacking in terms of leadership. The way that Quinn Hughes's become an open target The pushback the concerns me and again depending on the politics of the dance. Nothing in terms of coaching would surprise me So many so many times when you want to go and change the message or whatever it is to go and start selling next year and the season tickets and all of that. The cosmetic move is always with the coach. It doesn't necessarily improve or whatever the case is that. How many times have we seen teams organizations? Go and make that change just to send a message to the fan base that you're as concerned as they are even if they don't even get a coach that has good or qualified or justified in any other way other than the fact that they want to sell tickets while it would depend how ownership looks at that picture because in Vancouver always been about the future and how great it's going to be. I mean even advertise it. You know break future well ownership once the future to be guess what why is it not now so there is something to that and the other thing. I'd like to say is the thing about Thatcher Gamco. Keep in mind that Thatcher Looks a lot like Jacob marks from two or three years ago member. Early soft goals going going through mark's. Jim Between the Armada Body just like I did on Denver the other night and not sealing up the short side getting beat up high. Whatever it's a work in progress. It's a different animal to be the starter. I still think they have a good goalie. Indem quotes just that the pressure the pressure of trying to get into the postseason when you cover this team every day and you're in that room you can just see it etched on their face hall. It's amazing the amount of strain on these professional athletes to get to the dance. I did not see it coming that way. I thought that this team we invitations day. That's I know and they will come and kick in the ass all the time but I really thought that this team had grown up that this team was ready to take that next level. I you know I love the way that pederson in his swagger quin Hughes especially early in the season. I was dazzled with what this kid was doing. I knew he was going to be good. I didn't think was going to be that good and he is going to win the caller There's there's no doubt about it so you take a look at this. This is great arrival of this good young talent. And you just sit back and say to yourself. Yeah this is a team and it just hasn't worked out that way and the injuries have certainly played a massive role Martin which we talked about having talked enough of Besser but when you add it all up I don't right now. Have the confidence in this team to make the playoffs period. And I'm surprised you'd have changed. You've changed your message. I mean you should come clean. You've changed your message because I figure earlier like you were like a lot of people in this here. I was naive when you're the number when you're You when you're one of the top teams in the circle and you got the third ranked power play and do a lot of things right but you have no secondary scoring outside of your first two lines. That's a problem. And like we said this entire pod when you check your challenge to defend I mean that's seven one record. That marks put up when he faced forty or more shots. That's fifteen points that you've stolen and you're not there you're talking about a guy that is in the running for the heart. I mean the conversation that we were able to esteem absolutely. I mean when we're dry subtle but you should get some consideration. Well same connor mcdavid or whatever the case it. It really got down to a situation where everything that I expected to happen in. The last third of this season has evaporated and I my my view of this team my expectations. All of it has changed. And it's really begins with Jacob marks from that injury and the way that this team just simply does not play with the same kind of confidence swagger. Whatever you WANNA call it without him to be there to bail them out on those forty shot plus games that you were talking. I'll say this much as much as I still think they'd be challenged to defend. Even with Jacob marked him in net. Because you know you are who you are and you have limited capabilities if Jacob Marks. Jim is healthy. This does this team make the playoffs. And I think we both agree on that. And that's all you need to know about what he means to this team and what it's going to be income contract time. He is the guy and that just I mean that's the funny thing even from an agent's perspective I mean you don't have to sell it that hard to a team but my goodness. The team just plays totally different in front of him and not to take anything away from Democrats just a that said. It doesn't matter if it's a forty shot night. He's going to be hard to get more than a couple of them. And the conducts are giving three plus goals like the repenting of candy rate because it can't defend and there is a real confidence locking. I'm still not over. The Columbus Game Sixteen Games. It'll decide their entire season. Play offs talking about practice. I probably can you hit the high note I.

"In the regular season their whole season gets down to sixteen games for a team. That's lost ten or fourteen gets back to the poll question to their playoff team. I don't see them as a lefty do you? I don't well. The one thing they have to get is the Thatcher Demo who made thirty seven saves in Montreal when he got pressed into duty but the hardest thing to sustain is sustainability as a starting goal as a young relatively young starting goalie. That's the biggest thing so there's that aspect of it there's deployment upfront. I don't quite understand on some give nights. Why did it take several ships of Loui? Eriksson being Loui Eriksson. God Yes. I always saw the call. We saw jake for Tannen. Yeah who's played in the top? Six I mean. He was playing with Patterson and Miller not that long ago and giving them a pace that they didn't have so they put him with Horror Vat and Pearson and suddenly. You've got jake hitting the post you got Jacob and stopped on a breakaway. You Got Jake drawing a penalty on the on the goal that Pearson scored and Jake taken the great low shot. That's there for rebound. Why does it take that? Why are coaches I? I guess to a degree. I don't know maybe this is part of the problem. We're going to have down the stretch. Here is that coaches will rather go with what they know then then reach for something. That's not really a reach. Why would you keep putting players into the lineup who don't produce like Antoine? Roussel can't get there anymore. He's a great guy. Don't get me wrong but that. Acl MC L. Injury. He had the surgery not coming back until December going ten games without a hit one goal in twenty four games. Wouldn't you rather have somebody else in that love side? I mean maybe this is the way Travis thinks that you know what I'd rather go with a guy who's been in the League along time and maybe maybe he's GonNa give me something. Well hold on a second you know. Let's get into a conspiracy theory here for a second. The you and I are kicking around before we started. This podcast is about money. Is this about for Tannin this about a contract. I mean he's he's having the year that is going to make him a lot of money if he gets the the the opportunity the time all the things that go along with it and yet all of a sudden it's exactly what you're talking about. Why he is he not given that opportunity and again. I'll say this much. I'll say this much about from a veterans perspective. Okay forget the coach. Okay I talked to. Jt Miller about and JT. Miller was taken all everybody under his wing. Right he said the thing about Virtanen. His at the first thing that came to mind he saw the same player in me. First round pick little snotty nose thought he had everything going for him had to learn some tough lessons in the American Hockey League. Jake had to do it. Miller had to do it in the New York Organization. Having said that the one thing he does see about Jake's game aside from all the good stuff the speed the off coming down the offering embarrassing. You good shot. Hits like a truck is that puck. Decisions are so crucial this time of year. What that pass that? You're making or hanging on the puck just at the right time. You can't waver in that respect and that's the one thing that Miller is all over Jake on just got good thing about the bench on the Arizona game and and explaining this to him but having said that like you mentioned earlier. Jake has eighteen goals. He's a restricted. Free agent with arbitration. Right that's what I want to talk to thirty and you you get an independent party. Yes looking at twenty goals and they bring out the little Rolodex and I look at all the players twenty goals and suddenly the figure is probably bigger than the WANNA stomach and You know there's a lot of things that come into play and Travis will always tell you that the biggest problem he has with Jake is consistency. One thing I've seen this year with Jake is when he does get the opportunity in the top six mix. He looks like he can play there. And I don't know if I could say that a year ago there is no question at all jake. Potanin has taken his game to the next level. The question is and I'm going to come back to it is. Why is that opportunity now? Being restricted at this time of the season where the entire season is on the line with the injuries. And all the things that are going along with it especially with the goaltending where you're going to have to outscore your mistakes here. You've got a twenty goal score that sit on the bench while if you've got dead money in Loui Eriksson and he's playing like a fourth line of on. Just keep them on the fourth line like what's the big mystery have got him in the press box haven't killed penalties and whatever but don't thrust him into a a for you know. I whatever you WANNA call line one or line to regardless of what you want to call Horvitz Line but just to be there. Because he's been around the League along time man go back and watch the tape of her Tannin with Hore. Vat and piercing go back and look at the tape of Virtanen with Patterson and Miller. That's all you need to see. He should be in the top six. The the wild card race. If you're Gary couldn't be any better because it sells tickets you've got five teams fighting for two wild card. Spots separated by one point you got the connection. Winnipeg you've got Arizona Minnesota Nashville separated by one point. So if you're looking at this thing with Bo Horvat I love. I love the quote Dur. Dur Daytime. Great Way to describe it. Can this team. Can this team overcome everything that we've just talked about and do other than anything other than die because right now that's what it looks like? That's what it feels like. I heard those quotes night after night on the road though. Okay there is there is. There is a thesaurus for captains okay. Don't kid yourself. It's a tough position when you're replacing. Henrik sitting in that room and give all the credit in the world. He's there he answers all the questions but you can see it's weighing on him you know he's he's he's a young guy who's cut from an old school cloth and it's really hard for him to accept losing. Nobody wants to accept that nobody should accept it but I just think in the room. It's you know let's put the cliches away and we really don't have to talk much. Let's get out there and prove it talk is cheap right but I take a look at these. Five teams and ON PAPER CONNECTS. Make the playoffs. They should make the playoffs. Yes they should and yet they don't play the game on. That's the that's the problem because when I think it's like looking at the first power play unit you look at and you go man. This is amazing and don't kid yourself To fully as a right shot option on that that goal he scored against Arizona. And this is what I was talking to you about earlier. The fact that this kid can get the puck in his skates and get a shot away. Crossbar that quick. Because you know you can't shoot a guy teams defend too. Well now. You'RE NOT GONNA get a big wingspan to take a big shot. The PUCK CER- in your feet. How quickly can you get them away so on paper? I mean that first power plant it. Okayed yourself it's it's ranked third in the League for a reason it's good but aside from that five on five scoring and the fact they can't defend it's like a bigger racer erases all that. So and keep in mind to that. They also have two games in hand on both Winnipeg Arizona so on paper it also is an advantage that connects but if indeed missed the playoffs and this is will be sort of kind of building towards there will be a price to be paid. They're just always is coach. Travis Green has got one more year left in his contract. Get a four year deal at a million dollars. A season may sound like a lot but for NHL head coaches. That's in the low rent. District just is what it is does. Travis. Green survive at this team misses the playoffs. Are we looking at a new head coach for next season? I say he survives. And you know the way. A public sentiment is especially in this market. You know where things change on a daily basis. I'm sure I'm in the minority right now but I just think that whether it's the price point or the history of the organization or the fact that if you're GONNA go out and get another coach you're GonNa pay a lot more than ownership wants to pay and it's the same GM so you've got them in house and people will tell you and I think this is going to be the narrative if things go south is that this team view talked to people around the league. They say they're probably a couple years ahead of the curve right now. This is where everybody expected to be in a couple years remember. It wasn't that long ago when they had a nine point bulge atop the division. Wasn't that long ago K. They've gone into this deep slide and then losing marks. Jim Just didn't help. So that's what I think that the narrative would be from ownership is a fact that look. We've a great year. Were probably a couple years ahead of where we should be. So why would we go away from that? There's a reason to to tobacco that position simply because of the the economics that we saw that came out of the GM meetings a couple of days ago right that the salary cap could go as high as eighty eight million for for next season. Okay if indeed that happens then you've got lots of room for mark from all the other things that go along with it Yeah they got some RFA's Virtanen got debt. And all of that but the real focus here will be on March from cab that kind of cap space available to you at eight million makes to say the least two connects job especially the front office. A hell of a hell of a lot easier. I've got no problem with the pain of six or seven million dollars a season. I've said that many times the only concern that I have is the term. Not The amount the term. I'd like to see Max donate four years. Can you get marched them to sign to a deal? That's only four years long or is he. Is he going to try to put for five or six. Well let's say at the same price it's that pendulum if he's GonNa sign for shorter term. He's GonNa want more money if he goes longer. You can probably get him at a deal. I think they get a little. They get a little nervous when six and seven throwing around. I just know the connects. Think that that's too high for guys arguably their MVP and if you look at goalies who had at least forty starts this year. He's right there with the top goalies. I mean when you look at as and save percentages. Yeah it's all over the map and Marcham. Isn't that high. Because you guys have ten or fifteen or twenty start. Of course the numbers are GonNa look better. But he's done it over the long haul and I know he's their guy and let's let's keep this into perspective if it's a meniscus tear and I'm saying if because I'm only guy that's got a running with this he's not the first goal lead to have it. Set the Roberto Luongo had groin surgery. Guys have had their hips Stan in that position because it's so taxing you can come back from an injury like that with a minor procedure and better. I know they're tied to him so Like you said the cap sealing going up is going to make that more palatable and don't kid yourself you know couldn't use and Elliott Patterson they got one more year and then they got a really buck up for those two so that works on a lot of levels for them. I think the Morgan wresting thing is like you meant some of the other guys. They got a lot of our F- as it got ten expiring contracts on the current roster. And it's what they probably do more with our F. Face and there are a year away from heavy deal with Brock Besser besser. And what about? I wonder what I thought about this today. What's Tyler Toffoli thinking? I mean don't get you. Don't kid yourself. He's great friends. Tanner Pearson they WANNA come together in L. A. He's had a great start here but if they don't make the playoffs and you know play players are so wired to win. I like to think that the canucks look at Foley and say I wonder if we can get into a Miller type deal. Get HIM HERE FOR NUMBER YEARS. Don't something five three something palatable. And and have that security that a guy who's going to be a big factor in your top six in your first power play unit is here for the long haul. Getting into the playoffs would probably make that easier. Sure to fully to me just because of the fit makes a lot of sense but if you're going to go even with that eight million cap space okay. I don't know where to say. Christina fits in on all of this. I think Chris I think Christiane of is one of those guys knock on. Wood has missed a game I just I think he's I think he's one of those guys who's GonNa be here forever is is tied for third in the League and chop blocks and hasn't been hurt and talking to Quin Hughes Road trip yet. You couldn't stop talking about him because everybody was gravitating toward Quinn. Who's in Toronto and The piece I did was talk Clinton. Who's about Cristiano? And he couldn't say enough things about him that we don't really understand about a guy who can play that position in concert with a guy like us Who is an absolute magician? So I just think the organization would looks at Christiana though. I don't know of choice stature. They have to make a decision on our affairs and they have to make room for a couple of guys. Rafferty was leading the American Hockey League in scoring. You'd like to thank you. WanNa make room for him. I don't know what's going on with you..

"The frat cast on Sports David Brown along with Ben Kouzmine from post media. But practicing this. Who's been practicing this? This is my best. Your Mora playoffs. Talk me about playoffs. Give me laugh while I go on the road for ten days. I'm like a cancelled flights and snowstorms. Holly Coach and this is what I come back to thank you for that. We ran a poll question earlier today. Just real simple other connects a playoff team over sixty percent of you now believe this team is not not going to the dance. Vancouver before that road trip. Yeah before the four-game and I'm sure the poll was the other way sixty percent convinced. They're going to the dance and we saw early on that trip. I mean that that crazy start to the trip with Markham having a supposed lower body injury and finding a way to win that game in Montreal after giving up two goals in the first seven minutes Travis doesn't even wait for a TV time out. He circled the wagons and he just spits a blue streak and they find a way to win that game and that it just goes south they they couldn't score early they are chasing the game. There are giving up bad goals in bad situations and here. We are today a team. That is clinging clinging to wildcard spot had supposedly has his advantageous home schedule and their three three and one in their last seven home games. They're not getting goaltending. Batra Denko looks like I don't know this is. This is a prime example of what it means. When you're suddenly the guy the guy not the backup the guy and a guy who's so cerebral and open and honest and studies human performance and has a psychology degree from Boston. College was like a whimpering wreck on this trip like a golfer what the yips standing over a three foot. Putt and here. We are today team. That cannot defend a team that was getting away with the great goaltending of J. Good marks from. It's now all coming home to roost. This team cannot defend and Denko's numbers over his last three starts are absolutely frightening. Only three is you know. For the goals-against average of three point four zero and save percentage of just nine eight ninety one and you cannot win with that no matter how. Good the rest of the team is. But it's just the beginning. The TIP OF THE ICEBERG. That we're going to get into and it is as you pointed out all about marks from the fact that you can't get a straight answer from the connects up what the problem is. It's it's a knee injury right and as you reported they do know but they just won't share it well. They're not tell us that that they know they're the veil of mystery about what it is. I look at it this way. Why would Jacob Marks Jerem come on that road trip? Fly All the way to Montreal and suddenly not able to practice on Monday. It didn't happen on the way to the rink. I in my opinion it's cumulative I think he got run pretty good in that game here against Minnesota and overtime there was a pasternack move on him that kind of threw into that gumby like contortion. I guess what over time a meniscus you have a problem it locks up and depending on the degree of the tear will determine. How far are you going to be gone? I talked to people about it on during the road trip. La Kings Jonathan Quick Campbell both had the meniscus tear last October and November respectively. Quick came back and four weeks. Campbell's was more severe. I talked to him in Toronto because now he's a leafs backup guy actually landed on him so it was more severe. Took six so. I guess what I'm trying to say is depending on the severity of this injury that they won't talk about Mark Strom from the time. He had it or on Monday in Montreal. We're probably talking hopefully a four week window. But where's the team going to be by that? Although that's another three weeks away the party could easily be over. Even though again getting information regarding injuries this time of the season I get. It's better to launch codes from from trump. I mean that's just what it is but nevertheless marked trim who is their. Mvp by the time he does get back on with you on this. This season could easily be over and done and there are a lot of things that go into this okay. The collapse of this team. That has now lost four in a row and ten of fourteen. It's got to be more than just Jacob marks term well even when Mark Stern was in net. The cadets were getting away with wince okay. Eight Games forty plus shot seventy one one. I mean that's great in anybody's book and the products were always giving up a lot of shots and a lot of opportunities and now they've gone to the. The problem is when they get into that third period which is really weird. Because a lot of times they have the lead and talking to players about an. I don't quite understand the psychology. You've got the lead you don't need to press for the next goal you need to fan better. Only the Detroit Red Wings have given up more third period goals then the canucks and the sharks combined can you. Can you believe that second? Worst third period goals given up either giving up thirty forty shots like they're handing out candy so this is a humidity problem. It's not just the goaltender. Your last line of defense is a huge huge deal but the way you defend your own zone that I pass worst back pressure. Where are the fords? They blown zone waiting for that long pass. Are they so anxious to get on the four check? They forget about their own zone. It's not one thing when you defend it's everything has to be a collective thing and it's not there if there is a defining moment in terms of exactly what you're talking about to me. It's the Columbus game. Oh that if you want to go take a look at the whole season and just summit up not only in one game but in one period it is the third period in Columbus. And you sit back there and you shake your head and I know that Bullhorn had after the game is over said look. It's it's unacceptable and well hold on here for a second. This isn't about. You know trying to find excuses or apologizing or anything it's about fixing the problem and it's easy to go and take a look as you've just been talking about it and say hey it's it's the golden and certainly that has been the number one issue but it's more than that. Columba switch your than that. Columbus was not just another game. Exactly you're playing a team. That has got eight regulars out of its line. I'm talking like Seth Jones caliber players. Okay there guys in the lineup I did not recognize for torts. Okay the conducts are up three one in the third period. This is done. They played fifty two incredible minutes. I've got my feet up. It's back to backs it's the end of the trip. I'm ready to send button. And they give up a goal. A COUPLA take too bad penalties solder roussell should know better take bad penalties in their own zone and to quit power play goals and you could just see them unravel like a ball of string. You got the backup to the backup in goal. And he was okay. Hey through fifty two minutes but when you know. Columbus got kind of sniff at the in the game and I tell you that scene after the game in the room and Travis. I've been around this team for twenty one years. I'm hard pressed outside of Twenty Seven Cup final to find a night where there was. They were stunned. There was shock. Aw whatever you WANNA call it and Travis said after the game you don't forget a game like tonight and then he but the thing is that kind of got me that night. He tried to equate it to a playoff game. And how hard it is when you lose a playoff game. That's that feeling well. Guess what you didn't look like a playoff team. So don't talk about the play offs. The thing with this team that is frustrating and it has a lot to do with leadership or character or whatever you want to talk about but when they get pushed they don't push back and the classic example that I look at on that road trip was Quinn Hughes. I mean he takes that nasty hit in the third period. Where's the pushback? Where where the hell is the pushback while that started that Attention as a say started in Montreal and his very early in the Game Domi gave them a cross check to the lower back that was horrendous. And then the next shift. He took another cross check in the other corner. Continues comes back to the bench and you can tell agitated. Travel screen has to say listen. You're going to have to simplify your game. You can't be Bobby Orr every night. You're going to have to realize they're looking for just the way they're looking for pederson. Those two guys have been targets but on that road trip every building. They were going after us. They're going after him. So this is the thing where like you said. Where's the pushback to their credit? They fought thirteen times this year and Chris town of in Ottawa had his first career fight. Because he's got ran again Bobby Ryan gave Tanna cheap shot at the end of the first period and he dropped the mets and went after him. So that connects will tell you. Yeah we had that team thing going for us but really when you star players are getting treated like payatas. There has to be more than we might go after somebody. You have to go because this is not just a one off kind of situation every team every team is exactly what I'm talking about. I mean here's a kid who is just just absolutely dazzling everybody. He is the clear front runner to win the calder rookie of the year. All of take a look at his numbers. Fifty two point sixty five games and it's the way that he's doing it. He has that ability to embarrassed veteran players. Rarely do you see that from a rookie defenseman? But he's got it and everybody's got a book on this guy and there's no pushback to it. He's opened season it to me again. We'll get into the coaching thing. Just a moment but this runs deeper than one player and one game while the thing about Queen used you. If you're going to get to on you better get him before. The motor starts running. And the the heavy hits he's taken is when he's getting the PUCK and transition before he gets to strides on you. 'cause you're going to get by you or he's GonNa spin on yet and he's GonNa make you look silly and the one thing I do like about him. He's got a lot of jam for twenty year old. I mean he's got some pretty wicked. Stephanie Played The game here against Arizona with a bit of a tweak and a bit of a twinge and maybe he was a half a step behind the play but he almost played twenty three minutes. That's a Lotta Jam. Oh that's a lot of jam especially as he was being described as banged up. I mean you could tell very technical term there But having said all of this what it gets down to the this through it all with the injuries marked from you know. We begin to all of the The issues when Houston to me with all all of it..

"Like we talked about the cowboys all the time but like I said Kenneth is a really interesting in smart. NFL Mine and so. I know we talked. aww The seahawks but that is a team that you know like it or not is going to be part of the playoff picture to a large degree. Here this playoff season I do believe that the best possible symbol path for the cowboys to get to the Super Bowl. Because that's the goal and I understand how far fetched it. Sounds ultimately I think the best past would would be hosting the Minnesota Vikings in the wildcard round. But I don't think that's possible. I don't think the Vikings can jump whether it would be the niners or the seahawks to get to the five seed. So if you're telling me to cowboys have to host the SEAHAWKS or niners. I think the niners are the better team but if we're trying to maximize the overall road I think you want to host the niners because they are the better team so you can visit the seahawks and you can. Hopefully you know get hot and you know do something interesting yeah the NFL is a weird place and sometimes somewhere things happen. So shout Ey Kenneth for for taking the time to join us tomorrow. Zero on Wednesday's episode we will have. ESPN's Dan Orlovsky to top deck and Wednesdays and everything in between so it's going to be fine. We have a lot of fun with Dan on twitter. Ah But he. "It should just be a like they got their asses kicked by the saints. You know So it shouldn't even. It shouldn't even be the one it should be ten in. No but then even then you take the ten. It's like okay. Well this week. They beat the panthers by fifth. But after half the defense more than half the defensive out The Panthers scored fourteen unanswered. It was kind of meaningless with some degree so that one doesn't even and then two weeks ago and yet the vikings they're up thirty four to seventeen in fourth quarter two weeks three weeks ago against the eagles. They allowed me touchdown at the end. So the you you know sometimes the stats obviously all stats require on tech and And I think that the ox because they may be the most You Know Russell Wilson lead the NFL game winning drives and quarter comeback. They have the most highlight -able Again a word that I am just now perforating. That totally was made up. I guess but moment And people put it on there and they'll go like oh the seahawks doc only beat the rams because I missed field goal. Fiat only forty niners in this field. Goal well you know these are either good teams and beat them so it it certainly situation relation where they're competing every week And I think I think More you know. Mostly it's not even non-cis France. It's me trying to talk to fans or just saying like I think you're being a little too hard on a team. That's eleven and three and insistently you know competing appearing with with lesser talent than what they used to have because we can point to just about every team in the league that has been competitive or gone to a super super bowl and won a super bowl other than New England patriots. Every other team within one year within two years three years. Four years is total. Dog Craft And and and has down ears and with Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll is you know eight straight years of a winning season Devin playoff trips. You know it's been pretty good so I now I'm just totally rambling and taking up all the time on your podcast. Talk good about the seahawks but Yeah that's kind kind of another tidbit now. Like I mentioned I'm I'm a big fan of Russell and of the seahawks and so it's I think it's worth mentioning that you know after. They won the Super Bowl. They're made it back to you. Know pick it that wounded and you know and I think the year after the only reason they didn't make it back because they ran into that panther statement so there's a lot got you know a lot of important context in there. You know you mentioned about colleges and one of the NFL is sort of a cornerstone teams. Obviously the seahawks don't have that rich the history but the seahawks have. It's hard to to earn a seat at that table. And the seahawks kind of have you know. They're among the sort of flagship. It might not be the right word but among the premier teams in the NFL kind of with a little legacy. It's obviously not like fifty years or anything but it's impressive nonetheless. But so so the reason. Go ahead if you want to Brag on the ask you a question as well just in terms of like yeah. 'cause it's in terms of building and then key in maintaining Some level of consistency and success. You know with the cowboys. Go back to two thousand sixteen when they were thirteen and three And and they were looking like a team that was talented and playing as well as they looked talented and then and then they go ninety seven. Miss the playoffs tenant six just just so you know the one playoff win over Seattle their point differential. You know just like Seattle now was very good cowboys and the years. where hanging on a thread? Like how do you feel like What what with terms of doing it? Do you think that the cowboys overlapping years have gotten more talented. While a a have to not that have shown up in the win loss record and I think that that's that's the frustration. You know these days I mean not this particular day. Everyone's a little alleviated. You know because of the win over the rams but that's why people are so pissed because you know it's it's it's one thing you you know like the seahawks loss to the saints right and I think you can ultimately Enos Teddy Bridgewater era but you can stomach that you can say. Oh that's a great team. And that's that's a great coach. And you know so you you can compartmentalize it much easier easier and so you look at the cowboys meal. You know you lost the jets. Whatever like everybody has a congress for the game but you know they lost to the bears? That was really refresher. I think the bills explain away now. but they lost the packers and in we were talking about twitter. That's that's a really sore subject for them that they can't get over that Hump and so yeah. I mean in this team I mean I know that I kind of you know I look back on. I think the twenty two eighteen cowboys or maybe not it is good is sort of final standings indicate because of the one possession sort of statistic the kind of centers around our discussion but they did add in terms of talented Had also I do think Amari Cooper on average per game is maybe not as lethal this season as he was for the cowboys at least last year. But Michael Gallup spin impressive. Randall cosby husband. Really good that obviously have Tony Pollard. A defensively you know. They they added Robert Quinn. WHO's been amazing? They trade for Michael Bennett in the middle of the season. And he's been really good for them. I am and I will say they've had some downplay at linebacker. Jalen Smith hasn't been that special late In before getting hurt was not very good this season but overall overall to your point they have added talent and so ultimately people come back to well. That's gotTa be coach. I mean you you seemingly have and it's it's once in to have a lot out of talent But the other thing is I mean they have such a bad division. You know it's impressive. That's everyone looks at sea. While they they have eleven wins. The gotTa contend with the niners Still going to do all this but you seemingly have this you know at some point you know it may be Carson wentz is GonNa get ride. The Eagles are going to be good. The giants are GonNa figure something out the redskins. Whatever you've had all of this time will you could have just been running over the competition at least in the Era and you've struggled and at some point you're going to pay a price. That's that's what people's frustrations. Yeah I mean yeah it's it's really interesting too because I mean what the what the cowboys I know that me personally like I was talking with some friends before the season started and we were putting together. Rosters that we thought would be The strongest or the next five years ears so we kind of did a little draft and you just look at the cowboys and you're like left tackle guard dinner. Why receiver running back quarterback pass pass rusher safety cornerback linebacker linebacker? You know like all of these things and you're like man. The cowboys are so talented and would've thought you know I also I think I had the eagles going to the Super Bowl. So you had these two teams that looks so talented and so ready to sort of be that next you know Force in the NFC and it's been surprising to not only see them do so poorly but to do so poorly in a division with the giants the in Washington the and and just have it be That that level where it's like you know this game is so much more been been talent. You know it's such A. It's such an amalgamation of talent and coaching and injuries and strength of schedule and variables that we can't I can't even measure that. Come down to one play in one moment in one game and you have to work at all millions of factors that are going into that. Play that you have to complete to win the game and it doesn't work or does work and it just like. That's what's the difference can be from eleven in three and seven seven. Oh you know what I mean no and I think you know a one game example of that. It's probably that two thousand fourteen minutes the championship game. I'm sure packers fans that and they're just sick back in because you're you're right like this in. What was it like eighth things right that if if one of those doesn't happen the packer game and And that's just that's just FOOTBA. Aw and so that kind of leads me to sort of the premise of our discussion So I had tweeted. You know cause at this point you know. Every college fan is looking for the the most optimistic situation possible right and if they went on Sunday against the eagles their indices champions in week seventeen is meaningless. You know if they win. We'll see if they rest their starters orders or whatever and so they'll host a playoff game and everybody's debating because it's it's clearly going to be Seattle or San Francisco and ceremony saying well what's the better out etc and for me Russell Wilson on the NFC side of the playoffs. He's the best player I mean of all the players that will be in the ploughs. Russell is clear. Cut The best and I mean this respect but I probably think the forty forty niners or a better overall team and so. That's the that's the team. I think you know from the cowboys side. Rather get at home and I would rather go to Seattle the adult because and and you're right that the ten in one fingers a fluky stat. But I'd rather take my chances with a coin flip team in their house as opposed to this eighteen it's really deep etc and I don't know I mean you said that maybe you know you sort of responded perhaps The Green Bay would be better but I mean again I think you understand that the packers are. I don't think any cowboys fan wants to see are in the playoffs. We've been there done that. Yeah Yeah you know and it's interesting 'cause we talk about Devi away and the cowboys are ranked Higher Hira Devi away and the packers. And you know there's all these things about Green Bay that are debatably like overrated or whatever just the same way that people would say about Seattle but I do not you know. Take any issue with someone saying that. The forty niners Are Probably we are better team I think most of that comes down to their defense. Obviously but that's heavily predicated on the health of their defense in the same. They waited for Seattle. You know living that The last seven weeks you go the last seven games. The forty niners given up more points the theocracy in the last seven games before thinker twentieth in points allowed. They have gone from dominating team. I seven weeks seeks to a fine team in the last seven weeks. You know there are three and three over the last six games. I think they've proven to be more beatable as is the season goes on You know there are again. There are many factors that go into this You know injuries to Richard Sherman Di Ford and and whatever Robert also you know defensive coordinator Robert Saleh who was from the Seattle Lineage He the Pete Carroll Guy. He's building that same art kind of defense but last year heavily criticized for his play calling and the way whereas performed at the bottom to defense and this year. Perhaps there was something thing to be said about. You know a scheme being figured out. I if there's something where teams are more prone to to realize maybe Robert Saleh goes back to diverting reverting just some of those criticisms that he had for the first two years maybe The forty niners like anything. You know the rand often in the first ten weeks last year unstoppable and then they beat the chiefs In that crazy game and then after that pretty much the rams offense was pretty solvable and then we saw the super bowl. Just how L. stoppable they work so I'm curious to see where the forty niners stand and how even view them if you weeks I think like I think seasonal momentum is is not a real thing. You necessarily like a team can win ten straight games going to play offs and other team can lose for the last Eight and I don't think that necessarily the hot quote unquote hot team have an advantage. Because they've won ten in a row. It's just about what team is. Is You know what each team is. Bringing that day so I do think that the cowboys may stand a better chance against the forty niners then they quite realize you know against the same and I got the the Ravens you know the same the.

"Handsome hanks gonna tell us who's going to win that season kickoff game right now the best the bears are gonna win it all right buzzer. Who do you guys bearish packers right yeah come on. I'm just confirming i like. I like the bears a lot this season so you like the bears. There's like mitch. I like what are you could do a million more than fantasy terms. I like their backfield like they add on gun. Marie trait burns actually going to be a sneaky really good tight end so i i mean the differences is what is going to be great so yeah i mean then you start talking about it and then you're like well but what about the packers and then you start for me. I don't like iraq field. I think that after they still have they still don't have a clear number two receiver. Jimmy graham is like how i think. You're kind of right now. Should i change the rams to the packers. Think so mike daniels too. It's like i don't know now see. I feel like i can go into the playoffs either. I'll support you on that yeah andrea. We should add it to healing surgery. We should add it to my put the packers but i wanted to add it to my red flag. You're going to go up to fourteen wow so heavy rain and you've you've accidental either way predicted the playoffs all the teams. You guys set right at this point. You might save <hes> you know what though save some of your praise for the courage that andrew lucked showed last weekend and give it up for eddie spaghetti. Yeah made it up to fourteen teams. <hes> pity knows or not going into the playoffs impressive but i'm kind of with you on the packers <hes> all right so that's it handsome hanke. Have you said everything you need to say here right order done. Thank you two and four eddie spaghetti. We'll get we'll brinson wilburn during all right. Maybe we'll see him at the super bowl. I think that we stepped in he. He he subtly with russians he sat here for a half an hour trying to while we tried to resolve the audio issues and and then we had to scrap it unfortunately but anyway i like i say football action pics season predictions all that till oh heaven why didn't get it you gotta let me do it again all right so i'm recognized game game recognize game. We'll brinson owes hanke drink branson ranson next week meena kinds coming into the studio sixty six n._f._l. Kickoff that'll be great and n._f._l. Kickoff the green bay packers occurs in the chicago bears to get started in week one and about twenty nineteen. Oh it's a thin slice of heaven nice. That was perfect..

"I don't think there's a team that has that recent history that we sleep on more than the titan titan i mean to me at least the reason is that they looked like the team. That's playing in the t._v. Screen in the back of a movie when they can't use n._f._o. Brandon it's the uniforms with what is this is <hes> x._f._l. Not what are we looking at. <hes> <hes> yeah you're not wrong. You're not crazy and by the way i already mentioned the jags but here's their rugged open. They go casey at houston. <hes> then in that tennessee game at denver that that's going to be i i wouldn't be stunned that team has halfway decent to add carol no so play offering the jags i added hairline and at the saints and yes did. I have to make official jags of your first team. You did week two weeks ago. Okay jacksonville jaguars. I just gave you the reason why no oria <music> and then on the next up to our nation's capital we go. I resent jay gruden for trying to play it safe and doing the exact opposite. The safer bad is to take the more talented allen did fresh kid who can sling it around a little bit. Not the old man case keenum already proven with his ceiling is and for myriad other issues the mass with trent williams. I am maybe they'll get wind up with with jude avian cloudy. I also think they have some some smallish trade bait and i wonder if the texans have also reached out about one adrian peterson future hall of famer and that would make a ton of sense if they could get a guy like that. That's that's what they're missing too and would make me feel better about the texans because they do. Johnson's are running back and behind duke johnson. There's nothing i mean there's nothing besides stoop johnson and in houston right now i think the the dolphins trade that you mentioned i think <hes> kenyan drake is is if it does go ahead is is a big part of that which but that being sad adam sorry skins play for you. This one hurts me because i'd love to stick my neck out on this. I do believe leave that head. Coach can be transformative. People love to scoff at these. You're begging. You think that dame's gonna be good. How many examples do we need a team being crummy one year the jeff fisher sean mcveigh example and maybe this is ageism on part of football fans out there but bruce arians has gone into too tough tough spots in his last two stops and turn those teams around yes check begun deserves a lot of credit for the colts but reminder pagano stepped away that the culture really caught fire under areas and went on that <hes> playoff push then he goes down to arizona to be the head man and look at how he transformed then and by the way well but they're still still limited by the talent and everything else he did it with carson. Palmer carson palmer had many down seasons as many as he had upsize there i i think i think it's not implausible that the buccaneers could be good but then i look at the divisional competition is the problem again. You've you spelled it out like y- you is that team does have a chance to be good yes but if it's going to play six games against those teams against the saints against the panthers against the falcons even if it only if it wins a couple of those that's just going to put them in a tough spot barring injuries though drew brees is still old and this idea that tom hi i'm brady is doing it so other guys will have the bars now moved speaking of a conversation. We had with david carr a month or so ago. Is he going to be a trailblazer in that regard will now. We see quarterbacks now andrew luck notwithstanding. Are we about the air of quarterbacks. Oh yeah you play into your forty to change those expectation. It used to be thirty six. Ish it's like all right. He's pretty much used up our those expectations. Now widened. I dunno drew brees. Look downright poor poor in in in long stretches in games in december and january..

"What's what's up. I think it's <hes> you know what that's probably the first piece of evidence for people who believe that there's an east east coast bias in sports coverage in fact yeah. That's a good point yeah. The east new york would dominate both of those yeah that's right and then there's there's always goes of you. Go west like none of you. Starting then you to go south you go south or north either one but you can't let west is always the last one yeah. I think it probably has to do with star times. A games is that fair. I mean no. It's not that it's not fair but like when we think about the n._f._l. Divisions is very specific. No one's decreed this but it's just how things happen. I don't think it's got to start times again. We can't be discussing like teams records records or anything but that's the way that people think i laid it out. Did you see i tweeted. <hes> a few days back i throughout my i was gonna say rival running in and i was just like i don't know how to put this into woods. I like that but did you see my my regional rivals layout. I thought it would be a fun thing if we did that. It would be this if you did n._f._c. A._f._c. rivalry week dallas in houston would play the case oboe philly pittsburgh would play the steagall while they teamed up famously nestle in w._w. Two and became the struggles for i think three years two years atlanta and jacksonville off of the they're junior varsity georgia and florida playing every year the outdoor cocktail tampa and miami would be the orange herbal detroit and cleveland the russ ball the rust ball washington and baltimore the beltway bowl rams and chargers the hollywood bowl giants jets the apple bowl raiders and niners bread bowl bears colts the i sixty thirty five bowl the saints in and titans the s._e._c. bowl obviously that part of the world carolina and casey the barbecue ball but then you kind of run out of steam a little bit but still i think that would be grant. Can you talk to the commission about that. One shoshu will you because i think that would really be fun all right handsome. Sorry i took off topic. The what was your question. Oh yeah my teams. The miami dolphins would not make it in the a._f._c. East <hes> <hes> the bengals. I think you said it max out x. In the north rather the jags in the south correct the rate is in the west and others who did i have you had the box to the dolphins the dolphins you said worst n._f._l. Box cardinals bangles redskins skins in jaguars but then i then i went beyond that i think off to that. I think i said then one for every division gone injuries <hes> with deification. Okay rabies always right rabi. Rabi keeps track of it. Maybe rabi rabies has all mind apart from that one time where i had to call them out for getting oh my picks. The actually has an updated because shock. You added the lines right or am i wrong. I have not added the line. You added some of the jaguars one more team. Oh i did add another one. You got to get a second one. Oh all right well. I'm going to go through some right now for you. Ready yeah i could. I could track it down. We're ready. Let's hear it and spaghetti went extre bolt. He did thirteen come anywhere i would what would be what should be his prized be if he gets. Even the double digits with that was that just tell you what i mean. It's there's no chance you can get the double digit. We've delivered some confetti into the studio. I think throwing confetti onto the control is out. There would appropriately bring the whole studio to his knees..

"I i think could be one of the most fascinating what ifs that we've seen in a quarter century now. Have you considered if andrew lock. We already did this one yeah. I've tweeted it out track down at damasec but as an n._f._l. We did probably five years ago but it's still as relevant especially with andrew luck hanging it up now andrew luck if he would have he decided to go back to stanford in pursuit of a national championship back in the days when there was just when they were just be two teams that we got there so he goes back to stanford if he hadn't though he had come out in the he would've he was still the consensus even with cam newton in there and he had won the heisman and everything everything else it was still perceived by everybody that <hes> that andrew lock was the guaranteed fisher so andrew luck goes to carolina china. This then means that cam newton goes to denver yes who was in need of a quarterback themselves at that time now if that had happened then andrew who long then cam newton would have made the need for peyton mann a peyton manning in denver moot well although the broncos would've would've because that was that's danny sil- that was twenty twelve. They had signed peyton before the draft. I don't know batmobile fascinating because i remember watching it and there was snow on the ground in denver at that time but the broncos would at least had a decision to make between do we sunshine patan which presumably they still investigated or do we take this. You know sure thing in cam. Newton is that the way it went twenty so in twenty twenty twelve peyton signs in advance of that draft so then that would blow that up because of raw. Let let me check let me check but i think i think that was payton's his first year there the year that they lose to denver and isn't that isn't that the following season i could be wrong signed on march twenty eighth twenty twelve twelve marsh ryan twenty so it is before the draft so you're right so that blows that up so well. It doesn't necessarily because i mean they could have said you know i'll diligence is we could get peyton manning for three more seasons so where then it. I want to figure this out now. We'll just do it. <hes> as we're kibitzing here what so who then would the broncos traded hidden more importantly where does the twenty twelve n._f._l. Draft so then the redskins obviously pick second because they wait. No this is twenty would be the two thousand eleven draft. That's why we're struggling. Hey wait a second andrew. Luck went and robert griffin. He went in the two thousand twelve would've gone in two thousand and eleven lockwood about right right right right. I'm sorry no so i'm right. Dr congo's pick ham ham would have gone to the broncos and then that means that they wouldn't have changed the aid and peyton so would the cultivar cap peyton around in that in that weird spot unlikely really. I think they probably would have had robert griffin the third so the skins would never had that magical r._g. Three cs and who knows how things would have played out differently for r._g. R._g. three a different coach obviously maybe shanahan <hes> not being a factor. There may be r._g..

"Yeah. That's what john abram from. Mistakes and luke wilson has been good good guy did. Did you know that he was from canada came up with. I know it just i mean i see. How much do we need to hammer. The point that luke wilson is this fringe guy at this point in his career soon to be perhaps a pittsburgh steelers a matter of fact you know if he doesn't make the team. That's the things that we may see in this next week or so teams going out to try and get those yeah i love. It obviously slickly done. I love that open. I love the marriage of the updated music. By sam spans the answer actually the theme songs not by sam spence there but marrying that with the great sable words of the autumn wind is pirate and hearing for any reason is exciting exciting for me but one more thing do you who do you think like the other batter derek carr like jon jon gruden more than john likes derek or do you think they're kind of tolerate. I mean kind of think we're we're friends out of convenience a- ah that that's a super interesting relationship. It doesn't feel none of that feels very genuine one either side and what must i wish i wish david car were around this week by by the way he's catching grief for saying that he thinks that the jets are gonna win the division asian over the patriots yeah and he thinks that the raiders did he put them into the playoffs. He's catching some flak national say aden saying that joe montana's not one of the twenty two hours is brought up really yeah as as as part of a run on twenty nineteen david carts the best does david get him back in. We gotta do it a._s._e._a._n. As soon as he's around we gotta get him back in and then you wonder and it's why people people always say like the the the your lesser rangers always if you ever get fired or you ever you wanna storm out of building your place of business. I'll show oh you kind of thing like and i will take place down scorched earth the will to scorched earth things the way antonio brown kind of has the way it comes back act a bite ya is this how much faith can derek carr and in fact you can tell jon gruden. They're putting a a nice face on it a positive face on gabi eight. Oh mr team flight like he's already. They're already right on the edge. He's already pushed itself are in a few months that you can tell they're like this. Guy's gotta deal them. We got to try and get something for us in part b. for our own purposes. Obviously we want to win games but also it's embarrassing for for us making that move now. It's starting to already like hey. You know what now it seems like. We're the ones who got robbed in this trade that we even were the only dummies in the league that went out and got this guy so they have to at least get him out on the field and and all that but yeah that feels i it is a weird waterloo for some national national people that they continue to be like rothlisberger though you know. There are people out there continuing to do that. Isn't it patently obvious now. That was just the flake who who's yes emotional. I think both of them probably on perfect. Humans i agree with that but rather those rises down for an interview. I just want to saying that rothlisberger sits down for an interview and says i wish him. I hope he has a good healthy year. You know now the relationship just kinda owns it. Whether it's that's completely phony or not you know i think he's certainly managed the situation a lot better but anyway handsome. I want to tell you very quickly about <hes>..
