Inside the BLAST Restructure

"Blasts saying corona has hit our bank account a little bit. We gotTA restructure this if we want to really make it beneficial for the long haul. So what they're doing is moving forward, they will be increasing the participation fees paid two teams and reducing the prize money again. The I feel like this was kind of lost in the tweet because their initial tweet didn't really explain very well, the total sum paid by blast will remain identical. Okay. So I think that's important at the end of the day to realize that however the kicker here. Is the players aren't necessarily seeing that payout for participation. They see a lot of times in their contracts, the prize money. So you're taking away prize money to give it to direct payout to the ORG which you're like okay. Well, what's the big deal? It's all going to the same place not necessarily because pending on your contract pending on the Org again they only give you your pay right they give you what you agreed for on a payment and the prize money. So the double whammy here is that they failed to consult the counter. Strike Professional Players Association the CS. On this manner question for you why do they have to do that? That's a very good question which I'm glad you brought it up because I always every time this comes up in the world of counterstrike with. Like the CS PPA. Up We were not consulted about this we will be speaking with them behind closed doors blah blah, blah no one here heard about this at what point do they? Do you think they call an emergency meeting and say guys do people even know were around? Like do they like and I've said this before I feel like they have lost their own way whereas before it came out, it was, hey, we wanna look out what's best for the players while also working with tournament organizers and or gigs. To figure out what's best for like the system right now while then it's kind of turned into well, no, we feel like it should just be this way and we're going to create our own rankings because we don't like the way they do it You know things like that. I? Guess. You know perfect player union world. Yes. You would consult the players if you're going to change the payout. However if they didn't need you to start it, why would they consult you to change it? I'm probably GONNA take like a approach on this that if any players listening, I apologize ahead of time but like in a way what Henry g did by releasing the salary information I, say Henry Cloud Nine as the cloud nine decision right team decision to release salary? Information. Like you're not gonNA get a ton of sympathy from me at least when it comes to a little bit more money going into the owners pockets because what I see like again, this is one hundred percent my point of view I. don't even know if you agree with this what? I what I see in counterstrike right now is a game that is getting to this Odd Breaking Point doesn't mean the game's going to go away or die or nothing like that. I'm just saying it's at a point where. There's just this top end were just really top heavy in the fall off to me is is fairly massive when it comes to the landscape or the overall ecosystem of counterstrike, we're not seeing a ton of new teams invest into counterstrike. We've talked to team owners that have said it's a bad investment other than getting your name out there like if you're willing if you're willing to put in the money to be one of the top five. Great, it's good recognition by kind of beyond that. We see several team owners taking cheaper. Pats just to stay. Around in counter strike, but not necessarily the compete at the highest level because they know. To do that, it's millions of dollars in now we see a contract for the first time right now I know that includes Alex is a buyout but let's just say he's he's making around three four hundred K. annually off of this contract. Plus a buy out fee and then he's getting prize money from the six hundred events that go on throughout the year. Right? It's not like blast has. One. Event there multiple events in including one pretty much. Every weekend at this point, right weather's blast or star ladder ESL or face it. There's an event. Every single weekend at this point players are making really good money. Now I know there's a saying like, well, it's never enough right like you should be able to get whatever you're able to will. This was an opportunity for the elders in blast toward together in make making a little bit more beneficial for the ORG is. A huge problem in that. If they didn't consult with them. It's because they chose not to you know they didn't WanNa do it like we know you guys are making a ton of money. We need ours. Also a blast is still paying out the same amount, but I do feel for ownership groups right now in counterstrike because it is so outrageously expensive ended it's taken away from us a little bit in my mind because of how inflated the cost of Gone We've seen. Teams completely just wipe themselves out of counterstrike together we saw cloud nine one of the biggest stories take two year hiatus essentially from the game because they didn't want to compete at a high level. That's what it came down to. Right. They have the money the one of the most valuable orange but chose not to spend. Yeah. In put all their resources into counterstrike instead don't have two dollar and team cloud nine the just enough to stay relevant. That's it. They did the again that we've seen several teams do let's keep our name in the game refloating around right. If his top thirty we'RE STILL ON HDTV, we're still going to be in a handful of events 'cause re cloud nine a but at the end of the day, they didn't see it worthwhile to invest in the counter strike again, they're coming back now but that's after they have two dollar and teams in they're probably saying good success in other areas. Yeah. Ah Let. Me Tell you where I have a problem with because ultimately I think I leaned closer to you. My problem is not that they didn't consult with the Players Association. 'cause consulting means a conversation. Right? My problem is if there was no heads up given because it's not like this is in the off season of blast there in the middle of the event, right? They are still in the tournament mode four like the main blast that will eventually lead to like their big major, right For blast. That's where I have the issue because if you're if you're changing the prize pool mid tournament and not giving them a heads up I. Understand the reason. Obviously. We don't know all the numbers, but all we constantly hear about. How you know the tournament organizers make barely any money and the owners encounter strike especially, pretty much lose money. Right. Having a counter strike team. And yet. Always see from these players are Gucci watches you know Yeezy. Right like they're doing pretty okay. Not Every player I understand that. But for the most part, they're doing pretty okay with their salaries. Heard. From counterstrike pros saying that they won't go to events unless they're staying five star hotels for the most part like the best of the best tower tournament organizers where the. Name anything here but there's a place will say locally where I'm not even kidding you next door, there is a walkway, a covered walkway that leads from the hotel to the place where they were having the event and the players didn't want to stay at the hotel because it wasn't nice enough and this hotel is a Sheridan. It wasn't like a king to know knock on. Lucina. It's a shared. Sakes. Like. Four Star Hotel Four Seasons or anything but. Still pretty good and they wouldn't do it. So then the tournament organizers had to switch the hotel, right? The players went there and said, nope, this isn't up to our standards then switched the hotels and everything here like don't get it twisted. And it's actress counterstrike I'd say most East sports athletes. For being guys that like have very minimum requirements to get by in life like I've seen your room behind your Webcam right we know how some of these guys live they have very high standards when it comes to like pampering them. So No, I think for blast to take a conscious stand and be like we can't survive doing this. Let me ask the players this would you rather have more prize money? Or. Would you rather have? Would you rather have more prize money and blast fold after this because they can't afford To recoup or would you rather have? A reputable event. In blast payout a little less give your or more money to hopefully that will come back to you in some way and then being able to continue because right now that's the only option you have chances are that money is not going back to them in some way though right like. Chances are the orange will pocket money or use it for their expenses that even if? Up The fridge some you out. You know we upgrade the stream room for you guys our facilitation. Pull a microphone get you that private jet.

Fox Sports debuts virtual fans for MLB live broadcast

"Night Major League Baseball became the first major sport to go ahead and broadcast games. Weird state where people are thrilled to have entertainment as we're talking, we don't know how thing rated. Crates well. I find it particularly amusing. That Fox sports has said they will debut virtual fans in the live broadcast during this shortland twenty twenty season, so the people people who watch this well as seen CGI fans brought to them. You know with Hollywood special effects and I have to say I think it's an awfully good idea. Well, the initial broadcasts with the crowd noise has been a significant improvement over just watching a silent baseball field with no fans and you can hear. Hear the BASS coaches talking to each other like that's not good, but you know they're really trudging forward now. Baseball and other team sports are in this odd situation where there is so much money on the line that they kind of have to move forward, and they're doing it in whatever way they can, and the audience at least from the preliminary number suggests they want it to the ratings for some of the preseason scrimmages in these major markets were gigantic and. And Fox reported that they had sold out ninety percent of their ad inventory for these sixty game major league baseball season that is going to happen start over the next couple of months, and this is really the big test. Because yes, there's been tennis. There's been golf, but this is the big restart of team sports, and the NBA is going to follow, and they're all living in this bubble in Orlando Florida. Trying to get the NBA restarted Major League Baseball. Baseball is trying to restart even as one of the players on the Washington nationals tested positive for covid nineteen. The day that the season was set to start, so they're going to be these setbacks, but I don't see the League's canceling their seasons because of them, there's just so much money at stake. They're going to trudge forward and the big one. Coming up is the NFL and what they're going to do. The revenue for Fox sports for Turner for ESPN. Is desperately needed I. This is billions of dollars in lost money if they can't get these games up and start selling this. Thing so it's critical and. Obviously there's pressure all around to find a way to make it work and for the NFL which is by far the biggest draw in television, the training camps are set to start and the players union has agreed tentatively to a testing procedure, but there's no agreement on whether there's going to be fans at these games, and whether the season is going to come off like it would otherwise they cancelled some of the preseason games, but whether the actual season is. Is going to happen and how that's going to look is still a big question, and for television that billions and billions of dollars in revenue in the balance, and we're already seeing several college football leagues, either pushing their seasons or cancelling them entirely, and that's going to be the next domino effect. This virus cannot get under control in the next month or two. Then you're GonNa see College. Football pretty much eliminated for the fall in my in my prediction. Some leagues will probably try to continue, but ultimately if you can't keep college players safe, then you can't have a football season so. We'll see what the NFL does, but college football is a gigantic business as well on a more frivolous note. I will just observe that Fox. Had plans in terms of the baseball game to to thin the digital crowd. If there isn't like an eight to one game, and the crowd normally would go, so at least they're keeping that part real. Wow, can they make the dodgers? Fans leave in the seventh inning. I'm sure the virtual died. Here's fans will want to get on the freeway. Justice, the real ones

"The players union are still trying to figure out when and how to restart to twenty twenty season in their proposal the owners included a fifty fifty revenue split something Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer is not in favor of the act of submitting the proposal without a timeline of when we could get back on the field kind of invalidates the argument that they will baseball can't start unless we can pay you less right because you already in writing that this is good faith there is a route to get back you're going to get by submitting a proposal on how to get back you've already agreed that players will get paid a pro rated amount players artists given given that up and said yes we'll accept being a permit of being paid a pro rated amount and so this seems fairly cut and dry to me and that's Bauer on his you tube show cares grow our business casual Curtis Sally was on the red hot stove league last night he's been working on in Nashville with teammate Sonny gray and said when they do get the green light to start playing gray won't need much time to get ready the study and study and stuff works on real honestly I would that he could probably be about a seventy five page threshold at the very moment MLS is considering moving all twenty six of its teams to Orlando on playing this season at the Disney sports complex the NBA is still working on a plan to restart its season Mavericks owner mark Cuban was on ESPN and talked about how teams might actually be able to play in front of some fans the challenging part and the really interesting part is going to be how you figure out who called quarantine right because it's not just about everybody being six feet apart so if you know if you have three kids you your wife your three kids and maybe you know grandma grandpa stayed with you that's seven people that can sit together and speaking of the NBA they have not set a date for the draft so the NC double a is extending indefinitely the deadline for college players to withdraw from the NBA draft and still retain their college eligibility Dave Armbruster seven hundred WLW sports I heart radio goes one on one with Jason Aldean to compare the creative differences between early on against now you know you start adults some hits and things like that it's it's amazing you start getting a lot better songs in a point so as it happens your career sort of developed in the store Allen a little bit more what it is that you are I mean because you know when I first started rough for someone deal I was like all right well this is what I'm gonna do and it's sort of it's just kind of stayed the same but it also change a little bit as we went along and it you know I think he falls over time and just with age for me and different things so you know I think as that happens you your mindset changes a little bit and and reach record you know you you have a few hits all the sudden you got a song writers that are definitely more willing to to give you the best they got you'll have in our case and we have writers that no we're going to cut them go in and start trying to write songs specifically for us for our records and it's guys that have had a ton of cuts with us over the years that sort are locked into what it is that I do and that's kind of always been our form keep listening to I heart radio for more Jason Aldean and all your favorite artists all right it's seven forty eight Brian combs is here and the good news is I guess Joe sending Cincinnati children's was part of this pilot project correct and.

"I think you're GONNA have a hit for. I think it will even the playing field a bit at the brings much giants back into contention because it eats plainfield of it will And they're able to grow and not not be so so behind the weather seasons. So Hey I you can't always look at the negatives you go the strap it back on and let's go again back on the. Let's go again you know I. Am I honest opinions? I think in my cools a rough few months. There'll be some very stressed owners. I know that feeling tron scrub the money when you haven't got huge amount of income money coming today and I think that'd be a stressful few months. I think we'll see a similar. Vpo COMEBACK OUT next year. We'll see the same teams backout. Anything was ending new additions. If I'm honest I I think we'll see the same teams in a similar budget level and a similar level of products on the floor Hopefully that's the minimum. Hopefully we see in in prison. Yeah I would hope so okay anything else. You wanted to add on corona virus before we jump off now just everybody stay safe and keep the whole week. We can definitely get over. "Implies making stupid decisions voice in their opinion breaking that contracts etcetera doing silly things with violence you know which hurt sending emails you see the law and something needs to be controlled is controlled chaos in some way to make fairer and more dignified game so people were respected. Completely fingers crossed the month pointed to you. I'm definitely Pro Union. Ethnically benefit the clubs. The players the League Sport It just needs someone to break the back of it. Really put money into forget it going so fingers crossed okay. Thankfully we shortened the answer slightly so we track not here to the final question is probably the big one that everyone's been talking about obviously dominated the build up to the trophy final We expect to well. We are expecting recording this Monday morning. The League into spawned or cancelled at some point. Fleiss the USA banned from four am tomorrow morning. Eagles obviously three plaza left Worcester. Wolves full plans of left Phoenix announced this morning that american-based players have been allowed released from their contracts. I imagine the majority of the League will follow suit. Shortly saying Americans flying out So basically it's not even a question. He's kind of corona virus. What are we going on? I think it sucks. I think ANA get socks. I think it's definitely gonNA prematurely. And the seasons and it was the way it has to be But but now instead of the united stuff yourself back off because we go to get over it and and find a way to get through it and then move onto the next season. So it's damn shame because until the league was starting to get quite interesting the playoff race etc. But you have to. You have to be sensible. You have to listen to the scientists move forward so we go to unite. It's definitely is it's GonNa shut down. I think the first step suspended but I think in reality. It will be canceled for this season. We won't be back unfortunately talking on this folk costume next season so new mind set with. They'll follow suit with. Luckily the other sports will say Kay with postponing until the middle of whatever on the first week of April. And then we'll get to that and they'll go. Now we're GONNA CA. Were cancelled the League. Do you think eight. Yeah I think so because it's a big ramp impact everywhere else. Think the bigger organizations toby. We'll have to start up before anything else before anybody else takes a movement I you know especially with the cost implications of the league etc. You know I understand why they run that finally yesterday and I understand that you know they were sticking with government policies and you can understand is if the league closes this week. Then they will lose that playoff flying under implications. That might that happen? You know there was no insurance etc so you know it's it's moving forward. I think right now. It's kind of like. How do we protect the next season? Because we don't want to see this who go under and being the worst place we were actually were before we started in A. Yeah I think with the Gulf of the trophy final. I have empathy for the League. I absolutely do because there are small spoil that runs a very tight budget club that no one could have predicted three months ago. And that's tough to deal with absolutely should the fine living cancer. Jesse should there's no two ways about it and I think they've been very fortunate to be able to lean on this. We following government advice has absolutely by owed them out to say we're just following what the government tell us because you see every other sport that doesn't worry about money has cancelled. Shutdown has stopped almost instantly. You now the primarily exactly being criticized for being lighter than some of the other sports you know and I think I've been very fortunate to have that you know easy way out to say well we're just doing what the government tells us that we're following scientific advice. They've got these these catchwords and these these lines to to put out a it should have been cancelled absolutely. I'm glad to a certain degree that not huge number of fans turned up so that potentially reduces any damage that it could have done with regards to corona virus. I'm but I also understand you know the the From my experience my experience another trophies I think most profitable event if I in memory. I think the playoffs playoffs is actually the least profitable. Just due to the cost of hiring out too so I can see what the trophy was so important for them. Do you think there will be a playoff final or anything happening on the Seventeenth? Amancio to Boston wise or is that done now. I think that's done. I don't think there's anything that's why the measure was paid to play this game to keep Assu and you know I think as well the firmly shut down when the insurance papers also signed as well. They're waiting for insurance papers to say caver ensure it united stupid not be distant minded. The world is run on money as well so in a big impact of airlines etc. So it's going to happen But you know you got to be out to. You've got to be able to put yourself in a position where actually life will go on so we will move out this and then what we're going to do next instead of just leaving the panic now cetera so there is different mindsets to it but for me. I was glad I still don't regret coming night. I enjoyed everything about it and it was nice to see that Los game of the season. Now it's just instead of that. She has phoenix. What's going to happen next? You Know How do we move forward? And how do we regain? Maybe what we lost no senior next fourteen days serious side of things. Obviously the league with doing it. We can only presume an I understand. This demand for the financial reasons was a big drive for them. The trophy final for the club's now. Can you see any that could be? You know beyond fatally damaged by this close down because a lot of them will still have players on contracts. You know some of them not being cynical but eagles won't be upset. The players wanting to be released. Cheshire won't be upset in the players wanting to be released. We'll we'll stuff that reduces the burden over the next couple of months because my teams will have at least another six to eight weeks of contracting players to the end of the regular season. A maybe you know playoffs as well Any of these teams going to be fatally damaged by the situational. Do we think they're strong enough to be able to ride this because obviously in common so that will lose ticket income Hope there's some point that they were united this there's a guidance and everybody that signs off his neutrally agreed and finished. If there's no boss capable than you can't play and I understand the terms of contracts. But he as well hopefully they will fall into. Maybe the government's proposal of under twenty thousand two thousand people working for your club excetera smokers etc etc. You never know. I think. I think it's going to hurt them. Identity I don't think everybody will die. I think you know everybody's GonNa everybody's GonNa come back next season Just because of all said the structure the way the League is kind of year in year out as well with clubs site is actually that high level game plan. Is everybody else to think it will hurt. But I think again some clubs have been through a lot worse and they survived so I can see you know. I can see everybody being back next season. The thing I've gone looking at the league tribal in front of me. Now kinda going down taking them off in a really horrible. Why has sinister way You know I'll go talk to bomb. The the rocks I think is safe. United good management relatively well finance. Well Ron I think I should be. Okay hurt them. A standalone company Second-place is the one that terrifies me. London lines the reason why. That's me one. We know they close to the wind financially. Anyway you know. Being based out of London is an expensive operation to run down to one. Are they going to be held accountable for things? Like the copybooks of the Komo's going to expect them to continue to pay the rent for the Games. They're not going to have on the flip of that where is the majority of their money. Invested it like other teams and imports. No it's not it's British talent. Who aren't going to want to be releasing their contracts who are quite happily. See the League. One not happily. That's wrong that's wrong terminology. They don't mind if the league shuts down in the sense of they're gonna stay on contracts and still be paid in that country so the lions for me is a massive massive risk and I think that's the one out of all of them. That could get hurt. The most wolves support by the University. That'd be fine Leicester Riders. They've got otherwise making money with your. Raina shocks could potentially hit. But I think there are strong stable organization. Cheshire Phoenix could be another one. That's hit that. They've released their American so they salary Of their investment will be in their american-based Plays Eagles again. They built around facility. Bristow flies proper still sports. They'd be fine. Sorry Scorch is supported by the university. Plymouth raiders multi-million Manchester giants. The giants the change of ownership hadn't taken place. I would say between probably very hard to believe that they're going to buy the club and then let it crash ike weeks of of of costs that they can have to stomach. Sipho me. I think the only concerns would probably be London lions. I just the amount of bridge. They've gotten the wages payment plan right. That's true and they'll said that the the impact As trees with Avi Soco Desai had when he came in bringing sponsorship etc. You'RE GONNA see benefit you know you've got you're going to see the benefit of the investment coming in. It was a big. We were always talking. Was it touching go with finance before and is it time now that you might not see a club in London next season and they have to move somewhere else? I think the thing is. I know for a fact that when I was that there were investors. Always contacting the league about franchises and the only city they ever cared about with London Safety the investors externally international investors wanted to put a franchise into his London. That was the only city there until so you know. Even if London struggled I think it's still investment opportunities out there for them to be able to restructure and change. I think we'll still see London. Lines next year I just hope I really hope that the damage is minimal for them and that it doesn't impact you know maybe playing budgets for next year that they're going to have to trauma recoup some of that money by spending less on plans on. It's great to see a strong London team in the league with the cost of that looking forward to next season. I am even further. Do you think is going to be a loss? Impact rhinovirus on the game in the UK is going to be. You know a legacy from what what's happened here the it's potentially going to ripple out over the years to come. Maybe I think I think where it does. It puts people on leave and playing field. A bit more So you can take advantage disadvantage for sure in you can see that in. Worcester may be small at she to see the people come out with the United States. That was full officer the often the last two weeks. They've had united they. Yeah after the last two weeks of their flooded city oystein inside as well now being forced to stay inside. Icu they want this. I think people will make this league better again. You know the one of the game. You actually see that that will actually strive so. I think it's going to be tough..

"He was happy for C P, but thought it should have been more. But I expected England to being double digits to see and and Rondo to be at least five foot. You know? I guess it's a different NBA. And it's also not a year after the mouse. Pows go into the stands. It was contained. Right in front of everyone. I mean the hype around this game means that this wasn't just something that some people saw leak pass. And then got kind of. To me. I couldn't think of anything that would take highlight. Let's be honest. I think people loved it. I'm not saying nobody. They're the. Detector. I also thought what was so much into so interesting about this this Rondo after throwing the punches turnaround walked off the port got the locker room. Chris Paul present the players union. Went to the table to let everybody know to get the narrative going that he got spit on. And guess what? When it was all said and done who had the lightest suspension, the guy who the narrative out not that. There was anything wrong with it. I'm just saying he was already thinking about. Team executives throughout the leaks. They were shocked, and Chris perhaps because of that row and his stardom got some preferential treatment, Doc Rivers. It's good to ask about this. Because nobody knows Chris Paul. He said getting spit on somebody's getting punched and I beg to differ on that. Really? Spit on you. We still be fight take something. I'd rather you spend on me the punch me punch down for the count. Let them just can't continue that through the commercial. Between. Lakers move on forward. After starting the season Owen too. I mean, look, yes, they lost teams in the blazers in rockets. But now they don't have to other starters Rondo and Ingram. And here's their next five. I tonight Sunday the sons on Wednesday. That's not the same. Gimme game. It has been the couple right. Denver looking great. You'll get your counting down the hours. This is gonna be and then ten Antonio again. Minnesota. I mean are the Lakers in trouble already trouble in October November. But I will say this in the Western Conference where it is so competitive, and we expect the spots like six through eleven to be a game or two difference. You were going to have a hard time. Dancing back from a rough start. If you start the season one in six it might take you two months of good basketball to get your head back above water. And it removes your margin for error. Let's say later on the year LeBron springs, MRs three games, and they go one in three it doesn't allow you to have a bad time anywhere else in frankly with this Lakers roster. They're going to need margin for talk Toronto for all this craziness, and he recalled that when they want to championship with the Celtics in two thousand eight they had training camp in London. They had training camp him around. Right. So what allowed him in K G, Paul Ray. And everybody else I was new to kind of get together and grow together. Even with that reality to that team wasn't understanding page to March this team didn't have that. They're they're over. Gun dough with their training camp. They text each other and whatnot and go to concerts, but this is going to push the back that chemistry even further. You've don't you? And I. July I wash at the end of the game..

League Baseball Players Association with never never never never have allowed that for one second and I don't know how many teams put that language in the contract it's just inexcusable and unions are gonna fight have to fight. Harder against that because that that's, it's, unthinkable that in his. DNA there, were some teams in the league that would have. To be part of an initial let me, ask you this though Mike and agree with that, I mean you word shouldn't be something that would lead that what if the player finds. Himself foul foul, the lawn is suspended for non. Football related stuff or he The law of the land, supersede.

"Is is not fair and not just a not equal but then. When, it comes to Donald Trump Do you think yeah they're they're acting like it's, Muslim who they wanna dragged through the streets So this Michael Cohen apparently is contemptible absolutely contemptible Now this information got out because he wanted it to, get out, somebody he, spoke to got it out you know Komi like Guess it could embarrass the president but there's nothing, a legal, about it And also I, noticed Mr. Cohen had an interview with Does he have an interview with Mr. perdition today Al. Sharpton who the hell wants an interview with Al Sharpton He's trying to present himself. And position himself is Mr. Cohen again I am? Not a special pleader I don't know anything about the guy As a bit of a loose cannon who has. A lot of information because he's under criminal investigation for something. I'm, not quite sure what it is. Medallions with taxicabs or something like that Which has nothing to do with the president of the United States whatsoever What the hell a medallion is for a taxi cab Something else is going on here Unrelated. To Trump unrelated to rash shot Something else, is going on here But nobody wants an attorney. Who tapes his or. Her clients that's just plain sleazy There is a lot to, get to today. But I want to start with this this may seem a. Lot but it's not The. National anthem again Mark just, stay with me This is, very very important to me But also is a bigger. Cultural issue as I discussed, last Sunday but the great Shelby Steele this is this is the situation the dolphins were going to put the hammer down, on, one or more players and. Said look we're going to the game we're going to stand up during. The national anthem, we're going to need Even though. The purported NFL policy said, no if you're gonna protest stay. In the locker I'm not staying in a lock room I'm protesting what's gone on in, this, country the way minorities are. Treated what cops do to them in the and. Unequal journal I'm protesting So now the. NFL told the Miami Dolphins no you're not. Going to impose that role as a matter of fact we need to negotiate with. The union Let's. See if we can't work, this out is the union not patriotic Is the NFL players union not patriotic Apparently not what's to negotiate get off your ass and stand up Treat your country and. The people who fought with it with. Respect that's what we expect we fans But this is a phony. Protest this is a. Pathetic joke To see these men These men who have benefited from a free society These men who. Earn more than virtually anybody else in this country with, the exception of a small percentage of, of individuals these men her treated like conquering heroes people want to buy. Their jerseys with their names and numbers on it Treated like celebrities for playing football Living like no other people I've ever lived before them and other people lived currently, on the face of the earth They're protesting you see because America's unjust because America hates its minorities So I thought it, would be good to circle back and I think. This is very very important and. Listen to what Shelby Steele. Said Shelby. Steele is an African American he's at the Hoover institute I really admire the. Man he was on my program. As I said on Sunday And he has he has some thoughts about this Please listen very carefully cut eleven go you wrote a few months ago the Wall Street, Journal on this so-called protests with the, football players taking. The knee during the national anthem Among other things you said. It's not surprising then that. These black football players would Don the mantle of, protests because you. Say protest, is something that, that black. Americans have had to do for, civil rights look at Martin Luther King you look at Jackie Robinson, sports and so forth and so on And. You say these these surprise was that it didn't..

"The union in the league the guys at work for the players union the players in the league right now have to look at their own union and consider if they're doing anything at all form their benefit and i think you'll see here in the next little while chris questions are going to be raised i think the unions not doing what the union needs to much like the other unions and professional sports aren't doing what they need to nfl you know as a prime example those guys are struggling so much and they don't have even have guaranteed contracts i mean it's just it's not right and it's a difficult thing to talk about but you know i think players and families have the right to know what they're signing up for agreed the nfl has certainly tried to amend its policies when it comes to head injuries and concussions so we have really strict protocols now there are independent neurologists on the sidelines there can be doctors calling for time outs to try to get players off the field if they look like they need to have a test done and yet still there are players that managed to get back on the field but considering what the nfl has done is that a possible prototype for how the nhl might amend some of its policies at the nhl definitely has gone a different direction because denying it isn't a direction at all but the nfl's cut i can't really speak to the nfl they got their own problems they have major major problems and you know the fact that they can get cut after sustaining an injury there's no way those guys are going to speak up when they're playing so it's just a you know it's a matter of time and win those guys are going to get injured and those guys are going to suffer head injuries and those guys are going to die and the nhl just taking a very similar lion along with our union you've gotta make changes admit that these injuries caused problems until you do that you can't fix anything nick one of the things i really appreciated about your letter in the players tribune is that you didn't pass the buck so to speak you accepted responsibility for the decisions that you made some of which you would like to change now and you advocate for a partnership with the nhl you're not saying it should all be the league that bears responsibility but how does that work what positive steps can the league take to to try to move forward in this area while they definitely need the players need to make changes at the union level to begin with because donald tier and the rest of them at the union are don't have the players best interested in mind i'd like independent neurologists much like the nfl on every team to make those decisions take those decisions at the players hands because the players shouldn't be making decisions when it just received a concussion that needs to be taken out of their hands until they start doing stuff like that and then admitting that these injuries caused damage down the road is just such a long way to go former nhl defenseman nick boynton is continuing to speak up about his post hockey struggles that are related to many hits to the head and head injuries he had when he played it's after hours with amy lawrence on cbs sports radio naked.

"Atlanta where team owners are meeting nfl players will be required to stand for the national anthem if they come out on the field the wrinkle is the league will no longer demand that players come out of the locker room if they don't want to commissioner roger goodell there's no penalty for that but we are encouraged all of them to be on the field now if players disobey the league will find their teams and the teams will handle punishment accordingly but the players union says in a statement the league did not consult them and we'll be reviewing this policy he combs abc news atlanta and with more on this we say hello to washington post sports columnist formerly with the seattle times a jerry brewer has good enough to join us on on the komo newsline so jerry did roger goodell and company make things better they make things worse i think that in the short term they made things better but longterm and made things worse because i think the relationship with the league and the players specifically the players union it's only gonna get worse because of this because they didn't draft this proposal with the players unions help and i think this overall this is a time of of player empowerment throughout for professional sports and anytime you do something in which you kind of in some way tell them what to do there is going to be a few brave souls that push back what we won't have is forty something players a leak doing protests but we still might have four five brave so why wouldn't the league work with the players association.

"Dominic foxworth friend of the show has been in negotiations against the owners as the head of the football players union and he came away he went into a meeting with jerry jones thinking to himself i'm a little bit overwhelmed i'm a little bit over match and then he had the meeting with jerry jones was like oh this person's not smart he's not smarter than i am stephen i smith what is the name of the new owner of the carolina panthers campus meena was saying she's got a business background mania was saying that this guy is actually smart the new owner of the carolina panthers we give these cry we give a lot of credit to these billionaires because a lot of times we think they earn the money on some sort of merit or something we give them a lot of acumen based on having made money but meena saying this guy is actually very smart well he's smart at like i don't know if he's good at public relations which seems to me to be the crux of the stupidity here is dealing with the outside world and the nfl but yeah so i have you ever interviewed him but when i was at fortune magazine it was during the financial crisis and that was sort of win he kind of rose to prominence i'm sure you guys have heard about he bought distressed financial stocks spent billions made billions it was he was one of the few investors on wall street who made the most money during that period but actually that was kind of care tapper that was characteristic of his entire career was making these big bold bets during the asian crisis he did it i think on commodities leading up to that he's lost a lot of money too but what i find interesting from him is that he's a pretty self made guy on if you know he he unlike a lot of the owners he doesn't come from money this is not institutional wealth he built this himself so i find that interesting sort of ideologically he's pretty different from a lot of the nfl ownership class he's kind of a different voice than as different point of view i'd love the idea of this guy walking into the room and thinking to himself oh.

"The and the national football league players union whenever there next negotiators are coming up they sit there and they look at revenue would revenue would revenue would revenue at revenue would revenue and that's because why the nfl revenue keeps going up each and every year what if over the next two years iranian doesn't go up that the next tv contract they get fewer dollars for that's going to affect the players that's going to affect the union it's going to affect the union leaders chances of stain in their union leadership positions since we're talking the business side of it so you know that behind the scenes look they may sit there and they may stand in solidarity i'm telling you right now jerry jones is not a happy person he's not sitting there saying i'm so glad that we all came together and everything is going to be great and i stand with the players and the players stand with me he's saying this franchises worth four point eight billion dollars i don't want to years from now that it's only were four point three billion or three point four billion or three point whatever with i mean because we don't know what the erosion will be because if you look at the fall off last year again it likely is only in part due to write capper nic thing it's that's it's hard to two way because you would have to go out and and really survey if you were going to do it effectively everybody that's not watching anymore that drop off a group that's not watching it more and find out why they left there's different reasons but this was this was the nfl the owners that taking that stand this was the organization that's the difference saying it and then doing it throughout the entire weekend and then all.
