Some Players Aren't Convinced by US Soccer's 'Identical' Men's and Women's Contracts

"So. This story arose on tuesday afternoon. That us soccer has offered identical contracts to both the us men and women On the surface you would look at that and say oh well the. Us would have been asking for equal pay and it appears as though they have achieved that they do not see it that way. No they don't they issued a tweet from their. Us national team he eh. So players association us pr stunts and bargaining through. The media will not bring us any closer to a fair agreement. In contrast we're committed to bargaining in good faith to achieve equal pay and the safest working conditions. Possible the proposal. That usf made recently recently to us does neither. Now here's where we have a problem. what i would say is knowledge vacuum. I don't know what was in that proposal. I don't know the ins and outs of the pause. meg From the athletic. Who just great on this she tweets. Us soccer just issued a statement on the us women's national team on us mnt cba's it states that usf has offered identical contract proposals today proposing single cbs structure with revenue sharing usf believes best way to achieve these important goals is by the us women's national team players association on the us ns tpa negotiating together. That's the men's association however this quote marks this is from us soccer if the players association's choose to continue to negotiate separately as they have to date us. Soccer will invite the us women's national team to sit in on the negotiations with the us ns and vice versa in the interest of full transparency

I'm always willing to work hard for your entertainment dollar. Yes yes indeed all right. Let's go back to this big news of the day. Rob the forty niners and we talked about look. They moved up to number three in the draft. The dolphins moved back from three two to six because they traded with the niners trade with the eagles who were willing to go from six to twelve. What that tells me. Rob is number. Three things three quarterbacks to san francisco moved up to get a quarterback because they don't believe in jimmy g. for one reason or another one reason because they don't think he's at good and the second or it could be healthy and yeah he's good we win but he's he's heard half the time so whatever the reason they don't fully believe in him for the long haul but on the other hand rob a guy that people had questions about two guys actually in miami. I think this is a signal that they do. Believe in two. And they're they're willing to go with him this year coming up and believed they. He'll progress and become their franchise quarterback and then in philadelphia where it was speculated that they might actually take quarterback at six is seems to me like they believe at least for this year in jalen hurts whether it's belief or we just don't want to have another situation where our starters looking over his shoulder whatever the case or we don't hurts or chris. We don't. We don't like the quarterback who there do you know what i mean like that. That could be a real another reason. Why you get out of that you look at them and say yeah other than lawrence after that. I'm not sure so. I don't want to lock into a contract with a you know what i mean like that right. We're i don't believe in them. I mean that's why you move out of that usually. That's why you move out of those slots. Could you not interested in any of those quarterbacks who will coming out. I'm just saying no you could be could be. I mean the the history of quarterback hit and misses is just such mrs. yes. I mean tool you know. We don't know everybody loved him in college and coming out right and now it's like okay. We'll see the verdicts out. I mentioned sam darnold earlier. He was the third pick in the draft. Anything somewhere by him. Chris and he might he wear the bus. But at this point saying like there's a big question is whether or not the jet should stick with him because he hasn't done it yet. So you just quarterbacks man it looks some of the best. Tom brady number six rounder. Joe montana a third rounder route. Dak prescott four dry dropped all the way in the first one now. Yup in the twenties. I mean so it is it is. It's a tough thing to do. Is to nail these quarterbacks and so yeah you you could be right. But i like their miami's going with to Look he wasn't overly impressive last year. But i didn't see anything to make me think this like i. I think he deserves a season. At least you know. Like i see nothing to make me think. Oh he's not our guy. Give him a shades was they sent a mixed signals. You gotta admit that. During his patrick pulo they were dealing with them and pull them out of moments chris wait could grow and learn and being a big spy and they wound up doing all. That didn't make the playoffs anyway. I mean some off the hands for him. Yeah he seems. I agree with you but he seems to have that attitude the coach that you know whatever it takes to win this game if you're not having a good game that's kind of like a high school mentality. Are you know what i mean like. If you're not you don't have tonight. I'm pulling you and putting somebody else in but it's odd to see but know we'll see what happens this year with him and jalen hurts You know statistically wasn't very good had the one big win over new orleans but certainly The verdict the jury's out. We got to see so They're rebuilding obviously and we'll see what hurts can do this year all right baseball. Rob the all star game this year next year is in atlanta..

MLB To Try Experimental Rules This Year

"So here are some of the experimental rules that Major League baseball's tinker with this year. The minor league level. I think I'm about to say, like experimental drugs to help you deal with this situation. With the bank. So Major league Baseball is going to try. 15 2nd pitch clock. Let's start here. I mean, they've already been trying to tinker with this for a while. Pitch clock in the minors and trying to get this into the major leagues and the major League Players Association doesn't want it. But that's nothing new. I think it's a good idea. I don't see anything wrong with a pitch clock. Making sure pictures move quicker. Batters move quicker, and if you don't if you're not in the box or the pitches in off by 15 seconds, it's a ball or a strike, depending on the picture of the hitter. To me. I love the pitch clock. What do you think I do, too? It's just odd to me that here we are 2021. I feel like we've had the same pitch clock conversation for about five years. And I know the players association doesn't want it. But I don't even know why this is even being written about it. Still tinkering was they're changing the amount of seconds But we've been there. Done this with the pitch clock either. Make it happen, or don't Mortgage Ames govern to buying Elektronik Strike Zone So there was some light tinkering the last two seasons, I think, and now more expanded use of the Elektronik strikes only robot umpire now the way that this is Being implemented. It's not. There is a robot like Judy Jetson behind the plate or not. Judy Jetson, who's the robot from the Jetsons, the maid? Whatever the maid was. It's not like that's the robot behind the plate. It is an electronic strike zone and that a human empire behind the plate gets the read either Baller strike and calls it I guess they do have final say that the human Um, can override it but that he is getting fed the information from Elektronik Strike Zone again. I like this is well, considering how Much of a discrepancy There is with human Empire's I'm on board with this. What do you think? Well, two things number one. It's Rosie. The robot is bogus. Always out objections. I'd love the idea of robot umpires. My only question is when you start giving a guy like Angel Hernandez, let's say a chance to override Do empires. Egos get in the way, and they just don't care with robot is telling them And also is this going to be done quick enough where it's not going to slow down the game. All right away. You get something you're going strike Paul, and whatever Rosie the robot voice, and then they have to make that split decision whether to override it or not. I just I like the idea. But I think you're also giving umpires a chance to allow their egos to get in the way and make their own calls

Washington Capitals' Tom Wilson suspended seven games by NHL for hit on Boston Bruins' Brandon Carlo

"Elliot seven game suspension for tom wilson. I don't wanna go over. They can prejudice a jury here. I don't want to go over the usual arguments here about did he. Didn't he intention all that kind of stuff. That always gets itself played out hysterically on twitter and we saw that fire tonight and over the weekend and no these conversations going to happen. But what are some of the questions that you had going into the tom wilson hearing and are you surprised that he had one in the first place and does any part of a seven game suspension. Surprise you you know. I think the most interesting thing i've found is that you know there are a lot of people who believed that. He only got suspended. Because he's tom wilson And that if it was just about any other player in the nhl who delivered that hit. We wouldn't be talking about anything here. And i think the capitals believe that. I mean you heard peter laviolette save. I saw the the hit. I mean his feet round the ice. He stayed down with everything. Looks like a hard hit in the corner of not not exactly sure what happened but to me. It looked like just a hit. You heard ovechkin call it a joke And one of the things we talked about on. Fridays podcast was. How frederick drove the capitals crazy on the wednesday night game the night to game two nights earlier when he was all over ovechkin than ovechkin spirit him and you were the one who asked okay. How was he allowed to do this. And then two days later they play again and on the shift with carlo. Wilson tries to engage frederick a couple of times. And frederick's noah got a constant winning a game here and he runs over carlo you know. Maybe he was frustrated. I don't know i i. I don't know how wilson would explain it but you know. Saturday is a day. I make a of my phone calls and i asked around legalized and people are just generic conversation. It came up. What do you think about wilson how bad you think he's gonna get it and i did have a lot of people say to me if this was anyone other than number forty three on the capital's nobody would even be talking about this. Nobody would be if it was a hit that anyone else delivered. It wouldn't be a penalty or suspension. A lot of people felt them. But that's what happens when you have the history right. All of a sudden people look at you differently. You don't get the benefit of the doubt name Four hundred other players in the league if they throw that hit they get nothing but because of his history. That's what happened in this case. Like i really believe probably looked at elliot. Moore's while that was a tough hit with a bad outcome. But because his tom. But but i think generally predisposed to assume the worst when it comes to tom wilson but that's a reputation that earned so on friday night. He throws the hit because there was head contact. The first thing everybody looks at is rule forty eight yep illegal check to the head and is the head the main point of contact and the answer there is no this is my guess. My guess is that the people in the nhl department of players safety said this is not a rule forty eight and then when they started thinking about it they looked at it and they're like we don't like this. Is there anything else it is and if you read rule forty one which is boarding. You know it's there you can make that argument. And i think that's exactly what happened. Is they made that argument. And they said that's boarding. Now it's new president's you know that's not the way boarding tends to get called boarding tends to get called when a guy has hit from behind and carl wasn't hit from behind i think that's one of the things that the capitals and possibly the players association discussed wise. You guys don't call boarding like this and at the end of the day that's why it wasn't also like thirty or forty games because boarding doesn't carry those kinds of suspensions historically the highest boarding penalty i could find. I suspension was zac. Rinaldo in two thousand fifteen. It was eight games. Right and wilson gets seven. So i think that's why he got less. You know the other thing. Is you know the capitals argued. It was a clean hit like some other people had said to me and the league just felt the totality of it all was illegal.

"The Times and Creating solutions for our game for the time. I also think from a technology standpoint, in viewership standpoint, our partnership with Facebook And bringing the virtual reality experience to fans. You know, one of the things that we're able to do in the bubble, and it will be able to do this season. With fewer fans in the building is create different camera angles, different experiences. The rail can gave you that courtside seat experience, and that was a partnership. Voice with Facebook and Oculus. And so those are the same the same way that we have this partnership with the Players Association. We also have the great partnerships with these corporate partners and marking partners, and we generally go to them and say, Hey, here's an issue that we're trying toe. So can you help us solve it? And and those air? How I think the best ideas those were the best ideas come from, well, clearly a lot of the attention this summer ahead of the restart and during the research in the bubble was around Social justice. Let's listen A bit to what your boss Adam Silver had to say about player empowerment. Players know in the N B. A community knows there's there's a long history in this league. Of fighting for social justice for racial equality. And it seemed appropriate so it seemed appropriate and it clearly I think it's appropriate for us to talk about the fact and all sort of echo something that Lindsey said earlier. It is indisputable that player empowerment is more welcomed. It feels like In the NBA than it is in other leagues. There's a comfort level there that exists. Tell us about that aspect, especially in the bubble because there were some Tense moments. You know, the Milwaukee Bucks and the rest of the teams essentially walking off the court, not essentially walking off the court negotiations about coming back. Help us understand what that was, like Mark. Yeah, well, you know, they didn't walk off the court. They never came out. They never came out the port for the game. Exactly. And you know, and I have to tell you again, the relationship that we have had With the Players Association and the players during that time was so helpful we when we went into the bubble we, collectively with the Players Association, and our board of Governors agree that one of the primary Functions of the bubble was one keeping everybody healthy and safe, but also to ensure that the conversation would keep going on the fight for social justice and racial equality. And on those conversations continued every single day throughout the bubble and following the walkies decision not to play. We had very candid and productive conversations with our players with our coaches. And with our team governors. How about how the further cold our collective efforts and actions? In support of social justice and racial quality. And so coming out of that Those serious of conversations a day after with Milwaukee, Bucks decided not to come out is we established this Social Justice coalition and we agreed that we agreed to establish the Social Justice coalition that would be focused on increasing access to voting promoting civic engagement. Advocating for meaningful police and criminal justice reform. And so we wanted to Convert that feeling that our players in our coaches in the league had into action. There's no question you guys have been leaders in in in in so many different areas that we've discussed during this conversation right here. My final question to you is heavier, built in Dates and the schedule should some players a number of players test positive and they can't feel the team that they could make up. The game like baseball did on like footballs have to do on Tuesday and Wednesday night games. Yeah, thank you. For that question, Mike..

"A sports and snacks kind of Saturday. Your boy's working with Let's say we got here. This is a quest protein bar, double chunk lit chocolate chunk flavor. I like the quest Bar's pretty good it one of those in trying to map this out about an hour and 1/2 from now, maybe snack on a couple of chips or something. After that. Get me the dinner time. Hopefully, you guys are enjoying Your afternoon. I'm pleased to be hanging out with you one thing I'm not pleased about, though. I don't understand why nobody seems to want to talk about this. We'll keep talking about the NFL season. As if Players Association. Has signed off on everything and is happy to be showing up in the players are amped up and ready to go, and that's just not what's going on right now. How do I actually think that they're not going to show up? No, no, I think that Season's going to start on time. I do Shouldn't we at least acknowledge? What's going on right now with the NFLPA at every turn kind of telling the NFL. Hey, we haven't agreed to these protocols. We don't necessarily feel comfortable. We're not willing to go along with the proposals that are put in place. Just don't hear that talked about we covered the Major League Baseball dispute. Owners and players because nothing was going on at that time. Like it was 1/3 and nine With the game on the line in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl, Like everybody was glued to every single aspect of that runners and coming around the corner, emotion And where is he going to line up? It was crazy. Nothing Got past us on that fight in Major League baseball. And yet you fast forward to now with the NFL on the Players association. They haven't agreed yet on all the specifics of camp How it's going to work in players as of last week. We're still hoping that only 20 of them at a time would be in the building, which is an impossibility. If you're actually gonna have training camp NFL team scoffed at that. But there was a story done by Dan Graziano going to the weekend on ESPN. About a Friday morning. Update on the negotiation where They're intensifying enough that, according to the sources of ESPN, it seems like the two sides are going to get something done. They're exchanging proposals every 2 to 3 hours. My question rhetorically is what if they don't? What if the players just hold their ground and lead by their new president, J. C trader who's a brilliant guy was the center of the Cleveland Browns. What if they just say this really isn't for us right now? And I think that's gonna happen. No, But can we at least acknowledge the possibility Because right now they are Vaguely saying this is not gonna work. Here's the lay of the land for the NFL in the calendar ahead coming up this week, so rookies are allowed to start showing up on Tuesday at facilities. Quarterbacks and injured players, according to the C B A and show up on Thursday. So we've reached now. Deep enough into July. Be July 20th. On Monday On the 21st Rooks First year players, guys who were just drafted can show up. Then the quarterbacks in the injured players on Thursday, everybody else gets their on the 28th 10 days away. And yet the players are still extremely skeptical of how this is all going to work, and they still have a bunch of questions that they say aren't being answered things like The frequency of testing a moderate detail. No. The NFL still says every other day, we'll test you players were still saying we want to be tested every single day. Seems like a very substantial Wrinkle in this shirt that we need to take an iron to before everyone's playing football again, right? About preseason games themselves. The NFL went from 4 to 2. Players have come back at the league and said How about zero? I don't want to play too. Don't want to fly around and risk getting Koven for exhibition games about zero an NFL too. That is saying, No, we're playing preseason football. This is long been a contention between the league and the players. And I don't know that they'll ever be able to put the toothpaste back in the tube. This is what happens, right? You give a little bit In this instance during cold and you go 42 I'm not sure that four happens again. Do we need for now? But I am very adamant. And I strongly believe we do need exhibition football. I know A lot of people disagree with that. Get rid of the preseason start like they do in college. You know what the Patriots and the bills And the Chargers. And the Bears. They don't get to play Directional, Florida in week one. What they're going through the motions in the first quarter and getting their feet wet. And then when, 77 to 3, it's a little bit different. So you don't need to play for, but I think you need to play two for the quality of the game. I think September football gets a lot worse with every snap that's taken away from the steam, namely now in 2020 when you don't get any time on the grass anyway. Back in the day before I was born. The good old days. People will tell you about. We had a beer right after practice and smoked a cigarette on the field or whatever it was that they were doing. Back in the good old days of football, they'd show up and they would do to a days and they would have 30 straight days of training camp twice a day. Were there on the field for a couple hours. Tackling each other. That's insane. It doesn't make any sense. But they actually were able to prepare in a way that had them a better oiled machine. Clicking on more cylinders come week one, I would say. Where is now you only get X amount of hours to practice. You can't hit until this number of days in the camp. You can only wear your helmet and pads this often so exhibition games become more important.

"The Players Association the proposed schedule will largely featured divisional play what the remaining portion of each club's games against their opposite leagues corresponding geographical division cats we've been talking about he's first he sent over central was first west in order to limit travel the majority of major league clubs are expected to conduct training at the ball parks in their primary home cities so you say the vast majority not all but the vast majority of majorly because clubs are gonna be expected to conduct training at the ballpark in their primary home cities commission member officer with another with the Yankees and the Mets commissioner Manfred said Major League Baseball is thrilled to announce yet thanks Chemische I took it forever could use this three weeks ago for goodness sake I will sleep because of it you may be sick content bones Major League Baseball is thrilled to announce that the twenty twenty season is on the horizon we have provided the Players Association with schedule to play sixty games and are excited to provide our great fans with baseball again soon thank you very much we look forward to it play ball never have those words been so exciting to me eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six Mike isn't based on what I might Mike dropped we have Roger New Jersey producer Polly we don't he's not there brought out Ryan in Bronxville is on I got to reset the culture too busy doing the news and cross and he's out Ryan is in Bronxville what's up Brian I will be going on how are you today Sir good man how are you I wanted to talk about the manufacturing the time very okay so I don't I don't like you I don't find it very appealing I mean what Jews are not taking over to start flights not maybe the game right there what do you mean like if you were a secondary device I have deleted a bunch of all the return of the down the first base line he's going to want to comfort like if they are gonna search myself live all the outfield fact alone in there you're wrong right there right yeah I mean that could happen but it's going to be for both teams so then you're gonna continue that you you're gonna have yeah I mean it could it could happen but again you get a drug men that you could do forget you're right if a runner starts on second base in the tenth inning you could easily Baltimore to third sacrifice fly get a man but again that would be different to get the flight will be put up in the outfield RB Doug basically what you are you're having the valve right well I mean I don't like it up well yeah and we appreciate the call I'm not saying I love the idea but they're trying to you're right I mean it's gonna create now an advantage to be able to score that run but I mean teams may want to swing away try to drive men try to drive in more than just the one run if you get a playful one run and then hope to go out there and close you know shut the other team down well I think it adds drama I don't know I don't know how it's gonna work I haven't seen it before never watch it when they experimented with it in the minors so I I don't love it either but first sixty games it's not going to happen in the post season posi it'll go back to regular info or I should say regular rules I was reading something during that my my mom got crossed it'll go back to regular rules for the postseason Craig is in mass bit what's up Gregor were you okay so I just want to touch on baseball coming back and I wanted to talk about mental Yankee fans that even call in and make this week about how will feel the same they won this year but I I totally disagree I think the city needs that I think will be great the message I can't make a run championship especially in the middle of the pandemic I think it would be great for the city and I think it would it would add some energy that we need I'm not I'm not arguing that the let me ask you this Craig when you look at it would you look at it as the same accomplishment had they played a hundred sixty two game season no but at the same time if you if you go back and look at championships in history I'm going to go down in the books I think I think you can you can talk about this championship forever I mean if you're if you're talking about the championship in in the middle of a pandemic I mean because I think that's going down in history for a long time no question about it when we talk to our kids about it or our kids talk to their kids about it it's gonna be like yeah back in the pandemic of two thousand and twenty you know this is what happened so right I do think okay I'm sorry and I'm sorry I think that's my point is I I think this championship would mean a lot I do and I think people look at it differently come playoff time Mr naked all their life I I agree with that to a certain extent thanks we've received second crack I agree with that to a certain extent I just told that you could look at it the same way you would a normal championship it's different it's not I'm not saying that mugs and things like that I mean as much but this is different it means something different it's kinda it's own category you can't compare it at least I can't compare it to the World Series winners previously it's kind of a separate category not that it's not going to be important not that it's not going to be meaningful but it will be meaningful or important in its own kind of way and you're right during the pandemic I mean it's it's gonna be an accomplishment just to get the season underway and when you look back at his go back at yes ma'am twenty twenty wouldn't crazier that was the someone so went on to win the war the World Series during the pandemic NE sixty game shortened season still win is a win Charlie Blackmon and to all the Rockies I guess tested positive this according to Kyle Newman who ever that is Charlie Blackmon into all the rocky says positive corona virus after work hours of course field well this is going to be part of the norm now that to me is not I'm not shocked by it you hope that they're healthy and safe I'm not shocked I'm not shocked by it at all.

"Club medical staff all of our medical committees certainly our partners at the NFL Players Association and their medical staff as well as all of our research partners in engineers at email just people that help was basically touching and and and not helping to execute all the things that affect health and safety of players throughout the week when you start to look at the NFL's plan coming up this fall and I know it feels like each week a lot happens if we look back where we were three months ago who knew we would be where we are right now and where we're going to be in two or three months so is it your job to sort of look down the road or do you have to stay in the moment of trying to adapt to whatever we're seeing on a daily basis with this virus well I think there's some of both Janet and you made a great point which I've been telling people I I say it feels like about five years since we all started quarantining and sheltering in place it's actually been probably about a hundred days and that's the same time there we have to announce at the start of our season so you think about how much we've learned how much more awareness we have the new technologies that are emerging respect all that's going to continue to put us in a different place so I think what we have to do is make the best decisions we can't eat straight the knowledge in hand but also try to prepare it and remain what the phrase happens take everybody what's going to happen because in this situation where we're going to be adapting also the coronavirus not ours all right so it's it's it's crucially important that we have that mindset of flexibility adaptability and using that new knowledge along the way what's your biggest concern this football season I think like everyone we're dealing with a novel virus that no one can really predict and so I think that it's impossible to know which direction it's going to take this and and and I think that's true not just for the NFL but for the country in the world so I think that's why we stayed very regular contact with public authorities see see what the White House task force with with public health authorities in each state and each of our club markets we just have to work in a very collective fashion as we do what's best for not only just yet available to the public at large are you one hundred percent confident we're playing football this fall you know I don't think any of us can be a hundred percent coverage of of anything with regard to this virus I would say that I'm very optimistic that we're we're tracking we're moving in that direction but I think throughout this day and we said look we have to be cognizant of what's happening a public health standpoint the NFL's nine is going to put our head down as they were charging or no matter what I think you saw that with our draft right you know there are a lot of people that said what we couldn't or shouldn't do the draft but we said look we've we've got these sort of things we'd like to do how can we do that and do a concert with what the current public health recommendations are and I think we wind up with a with a really unique and special event that also raised a whole lot of money for very needed relief effort so that's the same approach we've got it we gotta take here we've got to take really careful look at and work very cleverly get with your service station there by public health authorities and make the best and safest decision all of our stakeholders are players coaches fans everybody that's in the NFL family what do you think of the NBA plan you don't get a very regular contact with chief medical officer of the NBA all sports leagues we we share with each other regularly are learning we're all confronting the exact same issues and I think that notionally we all have the same basic approach to that they're obviously since subtle nuances and differences from one state to another just based on operational issues but I think that again the NBA's try to do just what we've done which is be very thoughtful to to really be cautious so it's a work in a stepwise fashion to keep everybody safe as possible and and again we're all learning from each other in this we talk not only to each other in North America we talk to sports leagues around the world the Bundes Liga the Australian football league we're all trying to share collaborate and learn from each other and we keep talking about well not me but the the experts keep talking about the second wave and I said you know let me know when the first wave ends because but like we don't we don't know this dock with when does the first wave end and then that second wave if it is coming back so how do you prepare for that yeah I think you're exactly right you know there's a saying in the medical community that all models are wrong some are actually useful and I think that's true here you know that it's really hard to predict what's going to happen again I think we just have to be flexible and adaptable we have to make the best decisions we can with the knowledge enhance any and as you said that that that's very hard to predict and it's also varies from region to region you know what's happening in one part of the country may be very different from the other part of the country so I think as I said we we want to make sure we were hand in glove with our players association with public health authorities to make the best decisions whatever the situation on the ground maybe at that time you had Ezekiel Elliott some other cowboys some of the Texans who tested positive if this was the week of a game what would be protocol van with Zeke Elliott and some of these other players of now what what does safeguards would be in place here and how long would they be out so I think obviously I can't comment specifically on any case but but in general what are protocols are moving towards this we want to identify anyone who's newly infected at the earliest possible moment and get them isolated from the rest of the team environment and again this isn't just about players coaches athletic trainers strength and conditioning staff anybody in what we're calling that CVR system we were identified at the earliest phase inspection remove them from the rest of the environment get in the appropriate treatment and then watching monitor that recovery start protocol will detail exactly what we do each step of that it's also really important we cleared them appropriately to make sure they're not affected when they come back indiscreet things like some of the cardiac complications that can happen after code section so we'll have all that detailed out again we're working hand in glove with the Players Association on what that protocol looks like what would be the minimum that somebody would have to sit out if they tested positive well again I think that's that's based upon public health guidelines in in their certain guidelines depending on what you have symptoms when the last time your symptoms or what your test status yes it's hard to give you an exact number but I mean I think you're looking at someone missing at least a couple weeks time after a positive test it's not going to be test positive one day your back three days later it's going to be a time interval and there again our knowledge on that may continue to evolve a little bit but but I'd say at a minimum it's going to be a couple weeks time what will face mask look like this this is us season will they be any alterations to them.

"Of in tourism dollars the national college Players Association a nonprofit group that advocates on behalf of college athletes said in a statement on Saturday that quote there should be a serious discussion about holding competitions without an audience present quote the NC double a which oversees college sports isn't doing enough to protect young athletes from the disease the group at a bus stop right there anybody's sniffing any fake news yet I mean you're talking about what is that is that basically the players union yes the Players Association okay is fake news to me already yeah I don't I because you're sick you are making people believe the college basketball players like we don't want to play in front of people we want to play to empty now the arenas I was gonna ask do they have one person on the record saying yeah I don't want somebody cheering me on no in the NC double a tournament they don't as a matter of fact this this statement from the Players Association said there should be a serious discussion about holding competitions without an audience present the first sentence says players the United states want to hold this year's March madness tournament in empty stadiums due to their coronavirus that's not true it's freaking fake news so tired of this and then it goes on with the NC double a talking about steps that they take to get ready for these tournaments then the next paragraph public health officials haven't said that people should avoid attending mass gatherings like sporting events but the U. S. centers for disease control prevention have are offered guidance on ways to curb the disease those include keeping hand sanitizer sinks with running water and soap on hand at large public venues as well as picking a space away from the general public to isolate someone who might exhibit symptoms and then it goes into let's see the next I know how many paragraphs about how much money it brings an and what cities are gonna be hosting tournament games LA New York City Cleveland St Louis ten other cities Players Association also said they should also make public which actions will be taken and when like what are you going to do about them what are you talking about what your hands have the stuff on hand what do you want them to do I don't I really don't know and again public health officials haven't said people should avoid attending mass gatherings like sporting events and this statement from the Players Association said there should be discussion about holding competitions no where have players said we want to play in front of empty stadiums now I feel like I'm losing my mind because I'm the only one irritated by this I mean no it's just it's part of a machine right you have to make people afraid of corona virus so it's gonna it's like Dick pound coming out last week in Salem galley every time Dick pound thank you with the IOC surgery may have to cancel the Olympics they're not going to cancel the Olympics for corona virus come on I know they're not gonna have I I could see attendance going down for March madness just because of the fear out there but I mean they're not gonna play to an empty arena no the thing is most people don't read these exhausting stories that are you know seventeen paragraphs they can hang through a little bit and they see the first couple paragraphs and you're left thinking man these players don't play in front of anybody that's open this is what you're telling you about it you have the thought the I would think get over it my gosh it's not that big a deal garden play but the players never said that right now you're saying it more they're making it sound like the players of the ones pushing back on this versus the other way around no one ever said it it's just a flat out frigging Linus got it okay mom let's what irritates me okay no you can't look the basketball's either by the way they will not be in locker rooms either because of the threat of staph infections thank you mmhm K. Mendis why everyone's freaking out because a crap like that and then what happened somebody gets old you year they might be plain front empty arenas March madness white man this must be crazy all right let's get to the fake meat David has the story about fake meat impossible foods you know they become really popular because well Burger King took them on that's a big client but they're having to slash the wholesale prices by fifteen percent now because just too expensive for people to buy it is not that good it's almost like people maybe tried it a couple of times and then that's about it the novelty wears off so it's getting cheaper because people aren't buying it yes we got that going for you it's more affordable yeah I've had a few people so you know it's not bad but it's not like real meat no it's not could you had it you know exactly how I like it but not when I want to burn okay election projection coming up you'll hear Bloomberg's bit and also part of what Bernie had to say today fighting back against.

"You know his Players Association it is absurd well that's that's the real key point here Scott is that the players of all the pointed fingers rob Manfred but nobody is taking any game with their own unique not publicly privately I I do believe that there been conversations when the union leadership goes three with these teams they've had these issues it is certainly an issue within the ranks but they've taken all the public shots at rob Manfred went back to their union protects the same players that are cheating against them it's simply the way it is but as far as what you're talking about you'll go back in your Zach Britton also said what is wrong with the players do wrong but from a legal standpoint the memos were sent to the general managers it can be a player can tell you know they never came down and told us specifically this was as the players know they're doing something wrong they absolutely did but from a letter of the law as far as meeting out punishment that memo but does not necessarily get handed down to the players and the obligation the obligation to punish them the the ability to reasonably punish them isn't there because it's not written into the agreement I don't just want one response I don't think that's the case it's like saying well you know I I I I I bludgeon my wife but I I didn't know that it was illegal I think the you know they they they I'm not that's that is not that is not a reasonable comparison and I.

"Well the the answer the first question the the uh the conversation about bringing hurling to fenway really started through a relationship the one of the guys in our sales team here had with aig and learning of their investment in the sport ghulam over in ireland and uh that led to a conversation about um bringing a match to fenway back in two thousand fifteen the the the the sport is the governing body of the sport is something known as the the g a is the gaelic athletic association and the players association has called the gp gaelic players association and so do we got into discussions with them they were the gpa was looking to extend expand the sport in the interest in the sport outside of um outside ireland and you know certainly when you think about the united states and and an irish population than the united states it's the first city the comes to mind is boston so we we we decided to give it a world back in two thousand fifteen and we were we were hoping that we would attract 10000 people to come and see that match between dublin in galway hear it death fenway and we ended up with over twenty eight thousand people that attended the match and the irish festival though was that we created around it so obviously that was a huge success both for us and for the the gpa in the g a and i know you were intimately involved with the unique deal that was done a i might want to save five years ago it may have been longer than now now not sure but where lebron james god a small very small piece of liverpool's the soccer team you guys zone in exchange you guys fenway sports marketing at the marketing rights or certain marketing rights i should say if i remember correctly on that seems to have.

"When billy haunted the former executive director got the job as the nba's x nba players association executive director there is a story that circulated for years that said and i'm quoting he is so excuse my language billy onto walked in there and essentially said i'm going to kick david stern's as end quote that's why he got the job in a lot of people's minds because he spoke that kind of rhetoric and that's what the players want it and as a result they wanted him to go up in there and fight the man himself which was david stern at that particular moment of tom what i'm saying to you is that although it's devoid of that quote unquote language for say a lot more often than not particularly in this day and age which so money much money at stake when you negotiating collective bargaining agreements what happens is that the people end up getting in those positions are the individuals that speak fiery that a very transparent that seem to be willing to be belligerent mp yawned at all in these other things these at a common thing that it's believed to serve in terms of ingratiating oneself with the collective body of players now whether that's true or not i don't know because i wasn't in the rural but i do know what i was told and all i'm saying that use when you got divorce and you at other individuals light troy vincent was trying to be the executive director of the plays associated at the tom along with a bevy of others you have different personalities to respond to that debt serve itself towards putting you in that position so what you get in that position you can't all of a sudden turnaround and be all night him in and everything else.

"Taken onto him to be very vocal and be involved with the players association he's been therefore but like five years it seems like what he was lenses on way shape or form twenty three layers associate but you're right now he came out i in oh6 from the university of miami a third round picks so yeah he's he's put in his time and if you think anybody we care about we hear more from him than anyone else on nfl players association issues we usually go to here but now he is straight shootings getting so strayed pit but do you have a product does he oh he or any other player right now whether you've been instance oh six or whether you're a rookie this year do you owe anything to the future of the game wow i suppose not i suppose the future's going to be determined here in the present with so many decisions that are being made i think i think realistically when you hear that lied about how much you you love the game and you've been involved in this and you wanna you love football that even though you may not agree with the nfl the time to the fact that you love football's it you're going to try and leave a lasting impression year to leave euro into try leave the league little bit better but i if these if this the nfl has not done a lot of favors to these these players so if you go in you make your living and get a clean set a heels i have no issue with that at all now i it's where i wish was different i say that a lot but times are changing and the nfl were times a really tough with contracts that.
