Keep Your Eyes on the Lord (Micah 7:5-7)

"A chapter seven verses. Five through seven put no trust in the neighbor. Have no confidence in a friend. Guard the doors of your mouth from her. Who lies in your arms for the son treats the father with contempt. The daughter rises up against her mother. The daughter in law against her mother-in-law a man's enemies are the men of his own house. But as for me. I will look to the lord. I will wait for the god of my salvation. My god will hear me. On a powerful few verses as mica describes the conflict the division the lack of trust between people between him and neighbors him and friends even warning about a husband and a wife and potential conflict there and then with fathers and sons and and mothers dis summary statement at the end of her six. A man's enemies are the men of his own. The house like what do you do when people who are close to you let you down in some way people who are closest to you people you have looked to win leaned upon and trusted in mica chapter seven. As for me. I will look to the lord. What a powerful contrast. But as for me i will look to the lord and the pictures clear. I will look to the one who will never let me down. I will look to the one who i can always trust. I will look to the one who will always always always be faithful to me. Who will always care for me with wisdom who were always uphold me with his righteous right hand who will lead me and guide me in ways that he guarantees are ultimately for my good. I will look to the lord. I will wait for the god of my salvation even that at this picture of dependence on god waiting on god i am trusting in god. I'm leaning on god. He will come through for me. That's what he says. My god will hear me and not just hear me. The whole picture is gone will year and answer me when i call to him. God will help me when i call to him. Oh be encouraged today. I just think about all the divisiveness and the world around us the culture around us in my country. They've had the divisiveness. Even among god's people sometimes among professing followers of jesus among people that you want to look to lean on trust in and mica chapter seven verses five through seven is just reminding us to keep our eyes fixed on the lord. yes to be an fijian's four kind of way eager to maintain the unity the spirit in the bond of peace and the church eager to be peacemakers. As god's word calls too eager to honor everyone eager not to promote division to heal division like these are all thrust that we see in scripture ways. God calls us to cultivate peace and seeking unity particularly as his people. I mean she just prayed that for us so clearly in john chapter seventeen and such a clear theme we see all throughout the new testament at the same time and this is kind of the point. Right keep your eyes looking to the lord in the more you are looking to the lord trusting in him honoring him following him. The more i am doing that the more we will grow in unity together the more we will grow and fellowship with one another our unity revolves around jesus r-unity revolves around looking the lord waiting for depending on the god of our salvation knowing that he hears us. Oh god freshly encouraged reading these verses to know the right. Now i can every one of us can look to you and know that we can trust in you.

Filled with the Spirit (Micah 3:8)

"Mica chapter three verse eight. But as for me i am filled with power with the spirit of the lord and with justice and might to declare to jacob his transgression and israel his sin. What a beautiful verse in the middle of this chapter so mica at this point has been talking about false prophets as addressed in many different points already in this short book in the old testament but here in verse eight. He says but as for me. He begins talking about his role as a true prophet. He said i am filled with power with the spirit of the lord not with the spirit of this world with the adversary who wants to deceive with false prophecy. False teaching that which not from god. I'm filled with power with the spirit of the lord and with justice and might so are already in this book. Mike has been a mouthpiece for god's judgment upon his people for their injustice in their oppression of people yet here. Mike is saying. I'm filled with justice and might because i'm filled with the spirit of the lord. And then he says all of this filled with power the spirit lord with justice in my to do what to declare to jacob his transgression and to israel his sin to speak about the seriousness of aggression and sin against god and to call people to turn to him. So how does this verse lead us to pray while. I don't wanna make an exact parallel by any means between followers of jesus. Today you and me have trusted are trusting in jesus for salvation because there are some unique things that characterize mica here but when we turn the pages the new testament we see these realities applied to every follower of jesus his what regius told his disciples before he ascended into heaven. You will receive what you will receive power when who when the holy spirit comes upon you. My zen phil with power with the spirit of the lord like this is an awesome thought that which mica experienced as a prophet in the old testament. Every follower of jesus experiences in the new testament. You will receive power when the holy spirit comes upon you. Mica says with justice and might yes like we have the spirit of god in us. The word of god to us about what is just and right and good and we have the strength of god living in us his spirit dwells inside of us y when mike say i'm filled with power the spirit of lord with justice in mind to declare to jake transgression and to israel his sin to tell people about the series of sin and the salvation of god. So why do we have. The power of god's spirit living in us remember what jesus said to his disciples. You will receive power when the holy spirit comes upon you and you will be my what my witnesses you will witness to who i am what. I've come to do to save people from their sin. You will testify declare to others their transgression their sin in my salvation. Mica chapter three verse. Eight this is you and me as followers of jesus and so many ways so god. We prayed you'd help us to realize this today. Help us to live in this today. Help us to live accordingly today to realize that wherever we are whenever our job is are there were student we work in this capacity or that capacity wherever we are whatever we do god help us to live filled with your power with your spirit inside of us with justice and might gut help us to do justice to do that which is right and good strength of your mind. Fijian's six ten be strong in the lord and the strength of his mind. God help us to live in your strength today and with your spirit in us. Help us to declare to other people their transgression and sin and your salvation. God we pray for holy spirit. Empowered boldness today to be your witnesses. God we praise you for micheals faithfulness in his day. And we pray that you would help us each one of us to be faithful with your power your spirit your justice your mind to declare your word help us to be faithful today we pray in jesus name

Zealous and Compassionate Evangelism (Jonah 4:10-11)

"Jona chapter four versus ten eleven. And the lord said you pity the plant for which you did not labor nor did you make it grow which came into being a night and perished in a night and should not i pity niniveh that great city in which there are more than one hundred and twenty thousand persons who do not know their right hand from their left and also much cattle and thus ends the book of jona with the profit exceedingly displeased. An angry that god had brought salvation to niniveh. The god had saved benefit from the wrath. They deserved and the prophet. Jonah is upset goes out of the city. Sits down there under the shade and god appoints this plant to come up over jona to save him from discomfort in the sun and jonah was exceedingly. Glad about the plant. But then when god appointed a worm to attack the plants withered. Joan was so upset. And god's says in verses we just read you pity the plant a plant. Should i not pity. Niniveh people hundreds of thousands of people who have created a my image whom i love and i desire to save like. There's so much temptation at this point just to be very critical of jona and obviously jonah was in the wrong here but let's look at our own lives i. How often are you an. I consumed with passionate about things in this world that ultimately don't matter i we value plants and possessions and sports and entertainment and petty comforts in trivial concerns. And we can get so worked up over these things so passionate about these things even embroiled in these things that we miss individuals right around us people that we interact with on a daily basis. Who are on a road that leads to an eternal hell. Oh god we pray. Help us to realize to remember what matters most god reprieve. You'd forgive us for our focus on so many different comforts and cares and concerns in this world that we are not more passionate about seoul's being saved not just experience your life and your love in this world but in all of eternity god help us depite what you pity to have compassion like your compassion to love like you love god. We pray. You'd help us too long for what you long for you. Desire all people to know your grace your salvation. We think about seven plus billion people in the world all created in your image your likeness created to know you and created to enjoy you. Who turned from you all seven. Plus billion of us have turned from you and you love them so loved the world that you gave your one and only son that whoever among the seven billion believes in jesus will not perish paternal live gunnery. Praise you for your love for us. We praise you for somebody caring enough about us to share the gospel with us. We praise you for the eternal life we have in you. We praise you for your pity and your compassion and your love for us. So god reprinted helpless his show that for other people around us cowdery pray that ours eel to lead people to to faith in jesus to internal life and you would far outweigh our zeal for anything else. In this world. God that we would be emotional about passionate about not plans and possessions and sports and entertainment and petty comforts and trivial concerns but that we would be passionate about people and their souls for all of eternity. God we we pray that you would keep us from living like we see joan in this last chapter. God help us to be a clear reflection of your love for the people around us people who are desperately in need of your grace. We pray that you would help us to be more concerned about their salvation. Then we are about new business ventures new gadgets nicer things and sports teams and whatever else this world offers us help us we pray god in jesus name

The Day of the Lord is Near (Obadiah 1:15)

"Ovadai chapter one verse. Fifteen for the day of the lord is near upon all the nations. Just gonna stop there. The verse actually goes on. But i just want us to soak in what we just heard and pray. According to it for the day of the lord is near upon all the nations and the context here in ovid. Is this the shortest book. And the old testament just one chapter and it's addressing specifically got speaking through the prophet ovadai About the people of eithm the might who had helped capture fleeing israelites. And turn them over to the babylonians when they were being driven out from jerusalem and god makes clear in this chapter in this short bible. Bug that eat them. The nation the eat mites will be held accountable for what they have done and so we read this verse verse. Fifteen for the day of the lord is near upon all the nations and the verse goes on to say. As you've done it shall be done to you. Your deeds shall return on your own head in other words all people in all nations will one day give an account to god and in his holiness and his justice he will judge all the nations of the earth which means all people in all the nations of the world. Need the mercy of god. All people and all nations are senators. Who have rebelled against god and who deserve his just judgment yet. We know from new testament. God so loved the world all the peoples and all the nations of the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him will never perish but have everlasting life. The good news of the gospel. The great news of the bible is that salvation is available for all people in all nations that jesus revelation chapter five has died to purchase people for god from every nation tribe tongue language every nation every people group in the world. And that's what we need to think of when we hear nations for the day of the lord is near upon all the nations. Don't just think geopolitical entities countries like we think of two hundred or so united nations today think ethnic groups think people groups this is why we pray continually on this podcast for unreached people groups like today the karakolpak. People of us becca stan. Me tell you a little bit about the car. Call poc people so this people group is almost one hundred percent muslim. And i say almost because i we and our church family have been connected with believers among the karakolpak people who are meeting underground in secret who are gathering at great risk to worship god to study his word and to proclaim the gospel they are working to lead other karakolpak people to faith in jesus and we. We have stories of people being baptized. Among the caracol puck people so the gospel is going forward. The reality is though among the seven hundred and fifty thousand or so karakolpak. People and use becca stan. Most of them still have never even heard the good news. Of god's love in jesus and ovadai one fifteen makes clear that the day of the lord is near upon all the nations all the karakolpak people of us back. Stan will one. Day stand before. God as judge which means we give our lives praying and giving and going as god leads to people groups like the caracol people to make his mercy known among these people who've never even heard of love is not they've heard about jesus and rejected him. They've never even heard of the mercy of jesus. So i want to lead us to pray specifically for what god is doing among the caracol puck people for you and i right now in this podcast in the next two minutes to be involved with what god is doing and use becca stan and at the same time to step back and see the world through this lens when you look at world news among the nations and all kinds of different ways no every nation every tribe every people group in the world will one day stand before god as judged so as you look world news let it drive you to pray for the spread of the gospel and this nation among that people group in this language. Let's be world 'prayers. Let's pray with a world lens for the spread of god's mercy among all the nations knowing the day of the lord is near upon every single one of them so god we pray right now we intercede on behalf of the caracol but people and use becca stan.

Enjoying God and His People (Amos 9:13-15)

"Amos checker nine versus thirteen through fifteen the whole the days are coming declares the lord when the plowman shall overtake and the tritter of grapes him who sows the seed the mountains shall drip sweet wine and all the hills shall flow with it i will restore the fortunes of my people israel and they shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit i will plant them on their land and they shall never again be uprooted out of the land that i have given them says the lord your god and thus the book of amos ends with this promise the days are coming declares the lord when i will restore you to your land i will bless you in your land i will plant you in this land and you will never again be uprooted out in the land that i've given you i want progress and this book where we see from the very beginning stark sober serious pictures of god's judgment upon his people for their sin and yet in the end we have promise of restoration of redemption of blessing of the goodness of god towards sinners who deserve his judgment and he leaves them with the promise of blessing and isn't this good news for all of god's people i step back see the overarching storyline of the bible a world full of centers including you in me when we trust in god specifically and replace our faith and trust in jesus as savior and lord of our lives in a world where there's so much evil and suffering we know that in the end blessing awaits like full and final and eternal blessing the imagery here is like imagery we see in revelation describing heaven eternity with god in his presence free from sorrow free from suffering free from sickness free from sin free to enjoy god to enjoy one another perfectly. This is the promise. God gives to all of his people who trust in him. So god we praise you for your promise. And we praise you anticipation of its fulfillment. The Worst Kind of Famine (Amos 8:11-12)

"Amos chapter eight verses eleven twelve behold the days are coming declares the lord. God when i will send a famine on the land not a famine of bread nor thirst for water but of hearing the word of the lord they shall from sea to sea and from north to east they run to and fro to seek the word of the lord but they shall not find it. Wow what a sobering to verses of scripture for god to say to his people i'm gonna send a famine that is worse than not having food that is worse than not having water. Not a fan of brad north thirst for water. I'm going to send a famine of hearing the words of the lord people will run to and fro from cdc from north to east seeking the word of the lord. But they shall not find. That is the ultimate picture of god's judgment for god to be silent for god to not speak his people like even just think about that. We're reading god's word this revelation of who he is that we have this gift. We have sixty six books in the bible. That are the revealed word of god. You and i have that. We get to hear from god that god speaks to us by his spirit through it were it. Not for god's word we would be totally lost. We would be totally in the dark. Especially as sinners deserving of god's wrath. We would be totally hopeless. If we didn't have the word of god. Just think about this world with all of its evil and wickedness and injustice and no word from god about who he is. How know him about hope that we have as we look to the future. We would be hopeless. Lost completely without god's word and yet even as i say that i can think about these unreached people that we pray for continuing on this podcast like the demari ramani in iran. One point four million of them and you know what they don't have to makes them unreached that don't have the word of god they don't have hope it's found and god's word they don't have the revelation of who he is and what he's done to save us from our sins so we can know him and walk with him and hear from an experienced relationship with and they don't have that because nobody's taking it tooth and they've had somebody go to the demari ramani people. Nobody's gone there and share the word of god with him. Oh god we raise you for your word. We praise you for the gift that it is to us. We love your word. We forgive us for any ways we might be in our lives as those reprint on this podcast neglecting. Your word right. Now gunnery pray that we would meditate on your word day and neither in memorize soaking in that we would read it and studied and digested and then do it. Obey it live. According to god thank you thank you. Thank you for not leaving us in a famine without your word. Thank you to run around seeking your word and not be able to find it. Thank you that we have access to it and we have your word in front of us anytime we can download or we can look at it anytime. We can read it anytime. Thank you for your word. In our language battery pray for the demari romani. People who don't have your word. Nobody's proclaimed it to them. Nobody's taken it to them. So many people among the romani who've never registered never heard your word god referring to you're gonna referring for the thousands of languages where your is either still being translated or is not even started being translated yet. God we pray he would change that cause your church rise up and give our resources to translate the bible into every language in the world so that every single person every single nation has your word got pray for the success of bible translation gallery. Pray that you would use our lives. Even even today you would move many of us to give toward bible translation to see your word spread among all the people of the world. We love your word. God we praise you for your word. We pray the uses to spread your word to people right around us people far from us to every person people group in the world and they would have access to your word knowing that we are totally lost without it in jesus name we pray amen.

Boldness to Proclaim the Word (Amos 7:12-13)

"Chapter seven versus twelve and thirteen. An amazon said to amos. Ozier go flee away to the land of judah and eat bread dare and prophesy there but never again prophesied bethel for it is the kings sanctuary and it is a temple of the kingdom so basically what this is in the book of amos is a threat against amos an accusation against him in light of what he was prophesying. So here was amos saying things that the priest amazonia and the king in israel did not like and the whole picture before this. We're not able to bear your words what you're saying so go away from this land. I don't speak here. There's all kinds of different applications. We might consider as we see this picture of the prophet of god being rejected by the people of god. But i was reading. This verse is to versus just thought about the brothers and sisters. We have around the world right now. Who are speaking. The word of god and are experiencing major persecution for it for our brothers and sisters and north korea in somalia and yemen and saudi arabia in so many different places in the world in iran church is experiencing all kinds of persecution and threats and the bible calls us commands us to pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters and to go to them to serve them and care for them to serve them as our own family. So i wanna lead us to pray specifically for the persecuted church allied of this picture of amos experiencing persecution in chapter seven verses twelve and thirteen. So oh god our father in heaven we pray right now on behalf of our brothers and sisters your sons and daughters who are in labor camps in north korea because they are followers of you are experiencing on imaginable suffering and pain. Because they're following you. God we pray for our brothers and sisters in malaya who who know an any moment friend or family member could kill them for their faith in you. Gotta we pray for brothers and sisters in iran really throughout the middle east in different places where they're facing various forms of persecution. Can i think about brothers and sisters in india that i know all over different parts of asia who mentioned specific names now but but people brothers sisters in our family who are right now experiencing threats against them who are being told to leave or to lose their land if they don't or to lose their job or to lose their life to be imprisoned or to be killed for trusting you for proclaiming your word. God we pray Acts chapter four. That you would give them boldness to proclaim your word. God please give them baldness to proclaim your word. Even in the midst of persecution would cause the gospel to spread through them. We pray just as you gave amos boldness to proclaiming your word. god reprieve. you'd give them boldness to continue proclaiming. Your word got even as a pray that god. I'm so thankful that. I can proclaim your word today and i'm not going to be thrown into prison for it and i don't. I don't even know how long that lasts in the country. I live in. But god. I pray that as long as i have this freedoms as we any of us listening. Have that freedom god. We would be bold proclaiming. Your word was reprinted for boldness for them. Go repair give us boldness that that which they're giving their lives for losing their lives for we would not neglect when we don't we don't lose our life for it. Hung god help them help us together to be bold proclamation of your word no matter what that means for our lives certainly our reputation or matter what that means for anything. God help us to be faithful to proclaim your word. We pray for your strength for your help for your mercy for your provision for our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world for their families as mom or dad is in prison as a child is in prison now. Do we pray that he would strengthen their faith. You hold them with your righteous right hand and you would cause your gospel to spread in prisons and labor camps and all these places in the world where there's so much persecution against followers of jesus our brothers and sisters your sons daughters we pray for them in. Judgment Will Come (Joel 3:14)

"Joel chapter three verse fourteen multitudes multitudes in the valley of decision for the day of the lord is near in the valley of decision this is really a summary verse in a sense for the book of all throughout this book. You see mention of the day of the lord which had meaning certainly in giles. Day as god through joel was warning. His people that his judgment was coming that they would be sent into exile because of their sin. But there's a bigger picture here to in the book of joel because we are seeing a picture of the day when judgment from god ultimately comes for all people before him multitudes multitudes in the valley of decision for the day of the lord is near in the valley of decision. The picture is crystal clear here. All over the bible you and i will one day stand before god as our judge and his judgment will be final. That is a sobering thought. The joel chapter three verse. Fourteen is teaching. The bible teaches now for all who have trusted in. Jesus we look forward to that day not because we have done enough things in order to be judged by god worthy to come into heaven and spend eternity with him no the farthest thing from it. We are knowledge and for that day because of what we have done. We're looking for that day. Because of what. Jesus has done for us and through faith in him. We look forward to the day when we will stand before god as centers not deserving of entrance into eternal life with him yet by faith in jesus his death on a cross for us his resurrection from the grave his righteous life accredited to us we will be welcomed into eternal life with him so i would just ask you as you're listening to this like. Do you have that kind of confidence. That kind of anticipation when it comes to that day if not. I urge you to trust in jesus valley of decision. You're in it. Decide to trust in jesus and when you do and for all of us who would say yes. I look forward to that. They have trusted in jesus. Let's look around us and see multitudes of people where we work in our neighborhoods among the nations who are in the valley of decision. Who will one day stand before. God is you just think about picture every face you've seen today every person you've interacted with today or will interact with today. Every single one of them will one day stand before god is judge so god we pray you would give us an urgency today to share the gospel with them to call them to decision to urge people to trust in jesus to save them from their sins. Today might not fear the day of judgement. That is coming. The day might look forward to that day. God we pray for this people right around us for people in our families. Friends neighbors coworkers for people in our path that we come across we will. We didn't even know we were going to meet. Gotta repay you give a sensitivity and boldness to share the gospel with them to see them as part of the multitudes in the valley of decision in god is see people far from us like this gallery. Pray for the khorasani turks in iran. Almost a million of them zero point zero percent followers of jesus most never having even heard the gospel. God we pray they right now if they were to stand before you in judgement all of them all one million of them would be cast out of your presence in ever lasting judgment forever. God we pray for your mercy on the khorasani turks. 'cause your church to go to them send out laborers to the khorasani turks. We pray send us as your church to them. Got to help us known to keep this gospel to ourselves that was to spread this gospel among all the nations. Starting right where we live among our neighbors and co workers and friends and family members. God we pray that you'd help us to see the world the lens of joel three fourteen today to see multitudes multitudes of people in the valley of decision we know the day of the lord. The day of judgement is coming. So pray you'd give us baldness compassion. Your love to share the gospel with urgency. In jesus name we pray

Sin is Spiritual Adultery (Hosea 14:9)

"Hosea chapter fourteen verse. Nine whoever is wise led him understand these things whoever's discerning let him know them for the ways of the lord or right and the upright walk in them but transgressors stumble in them and thus ends the book of jose. This is the last verse in the book. Whoever is wise let him understand these things. Think about what is what are these things you've got all that god has said in the book of hosea about the seriousness of sin sin islamic spiritual adultery. I picture a husband who loves his wife and his wife deliberately turns from him and his love and goes running after many other men and he continues to love her still and to the point of purchasing to bring her back. It's this picture of sen as spiritual adultery and yet that is deserving of god's sin warrants the wrath the judgment the discipline of god's santa's end finitely serious before a holy god and yet god is loving god is merciful toward centers who will turn from their sin and trust in him. Whoever's wise let him understand these things whoever's discerning let him know them for the ways of the lord our right and the upright walk in them but transgressors stumble in them. So god we we pray straight based on jose chapter fourteen verse. Burstein help us to be wise and to understand these things gallery prayed. You'd help us to understand god. We prayed you'd help us to see san for the horror that it is god. Help us to hate sin. We pray just like the thought of being unfaithful to someone. We love god in supreme way. You are supremely loving toward us. We don't want to be unfaithful to you. Want to faithfully walk with you so help us to hate sin to run from it to cling to you. We praise you for your love for us your faithfulness to us even when we have been unfaithful to you and thank you for loving us when we don't deserve it. Jesus thank you for paying the price for our san on the cross. So how ourselves to walk with enjoy deep intimacy with you god. This is wisdom understanding that we're created for a relationship with you like a husband and a wife for a father and a child like to walk in love for you enjoying your love for us to help us to understand these things to be wise not to be foolish not to run up to the things of this world would decline to you. Knowing your ways are right so make us upright. Help us to walk in your way so to walk. As we think about what God is teaching us about our lives about government about how to live our lives in view of government around us. Even, government that is making it hard to follow Jesus, which was the case in first. Peter when this letter was being written. And yet we see God commanding. Followers of Jesus to be subject to human institutions. To. Be Submissive. Citizens of a government for the Lord's sake. This glorifies God. To submit to government around us. Obviously not as alternate. But as a good institution designed by God. While our supreme submission is still to. God. In the words of the Church in the book of Acts We obey God rather than men when faced with. An order from government that would involve disobeying God then yes we alternately choose God and obedience to God even when that could cost us lives I think about. Brothers and sisters around the world right now who live in countries where it's illegal for them to follow Jesus. Leo for them to proclaim Jesus. And they do so anyway. The Unity of the Spirit (Ephesians 4:16)

"Fiji's chapter four verses one through six. I therefore a prisoner for the. Lord. Urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called. With, all humility and gentleness with patience. Bearing with one another in. Love. Eager to maintain the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one spirit just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call. One Lord one faith one baptism one God and father of all who is overall through all and in all. What a beautiful powerful. Passage, of scripture. As. Paul. Exhorts. The Church at Ephesus to. With eagerness like bend over backward to maintain the unity, you have in the church around Jesus and his word. and. This is a word. I'm convinced we need to your we desperately need to hear and he'd. Amidst a toxic divisive political climates specifically in the United States right now where there's so much tension so much division over political candidates and parties to see the facts of that division in the Church and God is calling us to bend over backwards. To maintain the unity, the spirit in the bond of Peace Now, this isn't just like some ambiguous unity. This is a a strong unity around a strong center, strongest center of all the spirit of God, the son of God, usually around Jesus and his word so. Everyone in the church is gonNA believe the Bible. And embrace the Gospel, and as a result, we have sherrard common foundations when it comes to even political positions on all kinds of things that are clear in the Bible and in accord with the Gospel, like all Christians were united because we all love God's word. We believe what God's word says about marriage about sexuality about life about care for the poor and a myriad of other issues. At the same time. Christians. Who believe the word who loves you this or following us who are making disciples for? Jesus. Sometimes make political calculations. Based on those common foundations we all share in scripture but those political calculations or decisions or positions sometimes very on things that are not clear and direct in God's word. But this reminded that are usually in the church is not based on those kinds of political calculations and positions and even decisions we might make our unity is around Jesus and what is clear and direct in his word. And so when when you have a disagreement with another follower of about something that is not clear and direct in God's word maybe even something you're passionate about it's actually a sign of health in this fallen world to be able to disagree about those things dialogue about those things with honor and respect and love for one another. But in a way that does not compromise unity together around Jesus and his word I. Our unity is not built around political ideology or candidates or parties are unity is built around Jesus and his word, and we clean to Jesus and his word and we. Must. Pray for this kind of unity in a toxic political climate or were continually tempted to accuse belittle and cancel and distrust and disparage deride even divide from other followers of Jesus. Like we are swimming in toxic political waters that. Are, poisoning unity Jesus desires for his church died so that his church might experience. So God, we pray we pray that you would help us. With. Humility. And Gentleness and patience. Bearing with one another in love. To maintain the unity of spirit in the bond of peace as your church during these

Leaders Marked by Humility (1 Kings 3:514)

"Kings chapter three. Versus five through fourteen. Listen. To these verses that describe a pivotal moment. At the beginning of Solomon's leadership as king. Add. Given the Lord appeared to Solomon in Dream by night and God said, ask what I shall give you. And Solomon said you've shown great and steadfast love to your servant David my father because he walked before you in faithfulness and righteousness in an uprightness of heart toward you. And you've kept for him this great and steadfast love and have given him a son to sit on his throne this day. and. Now Oh Lord my God you've made your servant King in place of David my father although I am but a little child. I do not know how to go out or come in and your is in the midst of your people whom you have chosen a great people too many to be numbered accounted for multitude. Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to governor people. That I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to govern this? You're a great people. Please the Lord that Solomon had asked this. In. God. said to him because you've asked this. and. Have not asked for yourself long-life riches or the life of your enemies. But of asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right Behold I now do according to. Your. Word. Behold I give you a is an discerning mind so that none like you has been before you unlike you shall arise after you. I give you also have not asked both riches and honour so that no other kingshill compare with you all your days. And if you walk in my ways keeping my statutes in my commandments. Father David walked then I will link then your days. What a picture? Of Humility in a king and a leader of a people. Saying to God, I'm only a child. I don't know how to go out or come in. I'm in the middle of this great people that you've called me to. To realize as king that he could not lead govern this people. Based on his own wisdom, his own abilities he needed help from God and so we asked for one thing an understanding mind. To discern between good and evil as governance. and. Here we see. One of the greatest needs for any political leader. If not in a sense de greatest need. Wisdom. Wisdom that flows from humility before God. Wisdom that flows from. All of God fear of God. Wisdom that knows the most important thing in governing is discerning between good and evil is what we see in the purpose of govern Romans Chapter Thirteen got his instituted government for the promotion of good among the people who are governed for protection against evil. Among, people who are governed and so for wisdom. To govern in a way that promotes good and protects against evil. This is what we must pray for in our leaders in our leaders now. And our leaders in the future. So God we pray. For current political leaders at all levels. In the United States from the White House to. Governors across states to. People, two men and women. Senate and House of Representatives and different chambers of government in states and local levels in. Courts God we pray for wisdom in all of these leaders we pray for discernment God we pray for. Many many of them. To a humbly come before you and ask for wisdom God we pray for humility and our leaders. We pray for the fear of you in our leaders, God replay for that bring more and more and more of our leaders to fear you. We prayed on bleak come before you to seek you for help when it comes to discerning. What is right? And good, and to not lead according to their own ideas definitions about what is right and good God. Prayer that we pray that you would work in their hearts to bring him to humbly fear you seek wisdom from you find in. You. In God, we pray even for. God less leaders. Who are rebelling against you? Pray replay replay, change their hearts Scotteri pray that you would bring them to humility before you see their need for you. And God, we pray that until that day you would grant common grace that even though they are not seeking you God, you would give them wisdom to discern between what is good and what is evil. God We pray for your common grace in leaders who are not following you right now that our governments might be lead in good ways according to your sovereign hand. And God is we pray for? Wisdom in our leaders we pray for wisdom in our lives. Got Every pray that is we vote. Is. We use our voice particularly citizens in the United States and selection Gary Radio would give us wisdom. Justice Ordained by God (Exodus 18:2123)

"Chapter Eighteen versus twenty, one, twenty, three. Moreover, look for able men from all the people men who fear God who are trustworthy in Haiti bribe. And play such men over the people as chiefs of thousands of hundreds of fifties and tens. And let them judge the people at all times. Every great matter they shall bring to you but any small matter they shall decide themselves. So it will be easier for you and they will bear the burden with you. If you do this God will direct you. You will be able to endure, and all this people also will go to their place in peace. So these verses describe very early on in the Bible, how God set up. A structure for justice to be carried out among his people for people to be judged and all these different cases that were all coming to Moses, and through JETHRO. Moses's father in law. We see these instructions to appoint many different leaders as chiefs over thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tins to judge the people and their qualifications. Scott said look for able men from all the people who fear God. And who are trustworthy and hate a bribe. What a what a picture out of all the things that could have been listed right there. Look for leaders who fear God. And who are trust worthy? And hate a bribe who are not gonNA put. Their advantage over someone else being judged rightly. Not, GONNA seek selfish gain in that way, and if you do this God says, you will be directed by me. You'll be able to endure. This is for Moses good as leader have other leaders, and all those people also will go to their place and peace. Don't. We want that we want justice and he's To be, evident. In. Whatever country we live in? So we pray. God, we we know that this was a unique picture in the Old Testament as you set up. This structure among your people but as we read this today, particularly as followers of Jesus in the United States. As well as other countries but. The United States were going to this election God weep pray. Ask for leaders. Who Fear You. Re Ask for leaders who are trustworthy. Who Don't seek selfish gain. God, we ask for that Jerry we ask for this for our current leaders. And Our future leaders. God we we pray for leaders who are in positions of power and influence right now who know you? Who've trusted in you? And your salvation who are walking with you gotTa repay that you would shrink them and help them to lead. The fear of you. Help them to continue to be trustworthy in a way that reflects the character of Christ not to seek selfish gain. God We, pray for other leaders who don't know you right now who are not walking with you if not placed their faith in Jesus who are not followers of Jesus God, we pray that you would bring them to fear you. He are reprinted by your grace. They would be trustworthy leaders that they would not seek selfish gain but seek the good of others in good according to you. Good according to your word in your character in your wisdom. Not according to our foolishness according to what is right in our own is God. We pray for leaders like this and for Justice and peace that flows from leadership like this we is for this country God, save us from ourselves, save us from leaders who don't fear you God save us from leaders who are not trustworthy and who do seek selfish gain, God we pray for good leaders in our country. According to this picture of goodness that we see in exodus chapter eighteen. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Profuse are the kisses of an enemy masculine question based on proverbs twenty seven six. Do you have friends who will wounds you. You have people in your life who will speak truth in your life even when it's really hard to hear. Do you have friends who loves you enough. Who care for you enough to point out things in your life that are not healthy. They're not good good which we all have. We all are prone to sin. We all have weaknesses. Struggles will have areas where we need to grow in the character of christ in our lives which means we need every single one of us. We need faithful friends <music> who will wound us who will say hard things to us because they love us because they care for us. We don't need to be surrounded by people who are always to use language from proverbs twenty seven six kissing us always telling us all the good things about us. Profuse are the kisses of an enemy. An enemy only says kind kind things. According to proverbs twenty seven six an enemy only says flattering things according to proverbs twenty seven six. We don't need flattery flattery in our lives. If you don't have friends in your life who wounds you in really helpful ways to seek those out and to speak week to your friends and say please wound me when needed for my good for others good around me. Ultimately for the glory have god in me and then be that kind of friend wound not in a way that you enjoy wounding someone of course that's not what a faithful friend and does but a faithful friend carefully humbly compassionately lovingly and a posture posture of service wounds a friend for their good so let's be that kind of friend being relationships ships with people where we are encouraging them in all the right ways and we are also helping them grow in all the right ways god.
