How to Keep Your Groceries and the Planet Cool

"Keep our food cool but they can warm. The climate are refrigerators. Can contain very potent greenhouse. Gases called hydrofluorocarbons or. Hfc's for short and these hfc's are often thousands of times more potent than co two when it comes to warming the globe. That's kristen to donio of the institute for governance and sustainable development and environmental group. She's has hfc's are in the coolant and insulation. Used in many refrigerators. They're not a problem at the fridge is working well but at the fridge is not recycled properly. The hfc's can escape into the atmosphere. The environmental protection agency has moved to phase down the manufacturer an import of. Hfc's by twenty thirty six but in the meantime very important that when we are by new refrigerators or recycling. Our old refrigerators that we do that responsibly. To donato's group has made a list of fridge models that use climate-friendly refrigerants instead of hfc's as she suggests bind through a retailer. That will help you safely. Dispose of your old fridge so with careful purchasing consumers can make sure their groceries and the planet stay

Interview With Actress, Lucy Liu

"Without further ado. Thank you lucy. Liu for joining us today. What an introduction. Thanks ladies. i think we're both wondering how do you feel about beyond saying your whole name in a song. It's pretty special. I guess the last name rhymes with almost everything makes it makes it easy to be in a song lyric all. I mean we're talking about the song. Your poll name is in this song about being an independent woman. What people might not know. Is that your offscreen. Life really embodies that spirit in so many ways as an actor director producer. Imus visual artist. Where do you think that independence comes from. I'm not quite sure. I think it was born with it. i've always felt this wonderful urge to explore and be free. And i really loved the idea of having that freedom creatively and as a woman as a mom. There's something very freeing out that curiosity and of course i love having people around me all the time and exploring that but there's something about it that just makes it super special and it wasn't something that i intended on this path going on but it's definitely changed the course of how people view me That the sort of the choices that i made. I'm wondering if there's like a story or a moment from your childhood even that either you remember or maybe has been told to you because oftentimes it's like our family telling us what we were like as kids. That gave a first inkling of this lucy. That's a great question john. I don't know i've always felt like. I was from another planet and that i was not i didn't belong here necessarily and sort of trying to find my way back home and somehow landing into this entertainment world. This industry made me feel like i was at home.

Could Bitcoin Be Palestine's Currency of Freedom? [A

"Bitcoin gives palestinians a powerful avenue for peaceful protest and the opportunity to find sovereignty among oppressive economic policies. One day last week. I spoke to a bitcoin user inside the gaza strip he asked to remain anonymous and go by the name of calm the arabic word for eagle as he took a large personal risk to talk to me. We spoke on telegram and had to time our call as uqaab only has a few hours of 'electricity per day for him. Our chat was in the middle of the night a palestinian friend. Help translate the call live as we spoke. It was hard to fathom what life was like on the other end of the line. Uqaab was talking to us from rafa a city in the southern part of gaza. A war zone only a few weeks removed from being heavily bombed by the israeli military. I felt like i was speaking to someone from a different planet. He spoke of roads. Destroyed buildings vaporized power cut in supplies restricted. A map of israeli missile strikes link provided makes gaza looked like swiss cheese and gives a sense of the structural damage. Cobb asked me to consider how bad things have been economically around the world even in the us because the pandemic and ensuing lockdowns and said now imagine what. It's been like for us one checkpoint. It's always open. The gaza strip is a piece of territory. Roughly five miles wide and twenty eight miles long sandwiched between israel southwestern corner the egyptian sinai and the mediterranean sea

Amazing Facts You Never Knew About Mars, The Red Planet

"About Mars. So I did some extensive research online. Or does that mean you just looked at Wikipedia? Yeah. Uh, well, I thought it was cool that Mars is about only about half of the diameter of Earth. It's actually smaller than Earth. Yeah, like we are the bigger brother. Yeah. It got a small scoop of planet stuff. Yeah, that makes it a lot smaller, And that has consequences because it means the gravity on Mars is less right. You stand on surface of Mars. It's basically an instant diet right there. Yeah, yeah, You'll weigh less. You can jump jump higher. You can stand on Mars and Mars bars and still can eat twice as many Um, but it's not just because it's smaller. It's also less dense. Like it's a planet. It's half the size of the earth. Um, but the the planet itself, like the Rockets less dense. Yeah, It's like fluffy. Er Yeah, it's fluff here. Yeah, I think that must be connected right? Because the More stuff. There is the more gravity there is. The more gets compressed like the interior of the sun must be denser than the interior Jupiter, which must be denser than the interior of the earth. Right? So I think there must be a connection between the size of the planet and the density of the interior. Oh, right. Yeah. And another interesting fact I read was that Mars does have an atmosphere. You can go there and there's wind and there's an atmosphere around it. But it's only about 1% of the atmosphere we have here. That's right. Yeah, remarks does not have much of an atmosphere which is pretty important for supporting life. Yeah, okay. And the last cool fact I read was that a day on Mars like if you're standing on Mars a day for you would last one day and 37 minutes. That's right. That's kind of amazing to me because into the length of the day on the planet is just determined by how fast it spins. And you know, these planets could spin at any speed. And so the fact that it lasts just about an Earth day spending at just about the same speed as the Earth. Right? And it turns out a lot of the planet you're spinning at approximately the same speed. We all sort of spun out at the same rate. Yeah, but does that make you like, Want to go to Mars and imagine you get like an extra few minutes every day. Well, not only would you weigh less

NASA's Rover Will Collect Samples on Mars

"NASA says it's Perseverance Rover is getting ready to take its first sample of rock from Mars. The robot landed on the Red Planet in February. The hope is that it will unearth evidence of potential primitive life. Marc Labelle explains. NASA suspects an empty lake in the crater where the rover rests may have been replenished and drained with water several times. They still don't know if the soil they hope to dig up there is sedimentary or volcanic as they search for microbial life. Their perseverance. Rover has been busy practicing probing Martian soil samples with its robotic arm to repeat a moment space scientists compare to Neil Armstrong's bagging of Moon dust 52 years ago. Mark Lobel

I now call them the communist party of america the democrats or the communist and it's not just the progressive wing. It's the hallway her party. You said something in the break that seeing the rest of the should just you know they've come out of the closet anyway by. What they're saying is pushing. And those voters those seventy dollars sweatshirts and see spell sans about tax. The rich fan ilhan omar with all of hers. You know what they say but yeah they could sell merchandise. I mean they could bring in a whole lot of campaign donations and contributions for just identifying themselves as. Communists capitalists rise. They're spreading the communists message. Capitalism only works in controlled environments in a in a communist country. And that's why we see big tech functions so well and gets along with democrats and you know so. The Left Wants to Strip Your Civil Liberties With Coronavirus Panic

"Folks, we're living with crazy people. We are living on this planet. This rock we call her with legitimately crazy people. I don't mean crazy people like Of course it's going to be said pejoratively. But I mean it in the clinical way that these people really could be diagnosed right now. These are seriously psychopath. A logical people GSM for whatever they up to five. Now you can give them a diagnosis. These are people are nuts. These are crazy people. Face diaper. Your kids get the message to unlock everything down. I just explained to you yesterday how it's likely the lockdowns that probably created more vicious strains of this virus because the milder cases are forced to lock down at home, so those variants of the virus die out and don't spread as quickly why the more virulent strains are people who leave the house to go to the hospital and elsewhere and wind up spreading the more virulent Infectious and less Maryland. Like many cold viruses, do I just read that? Read that to you yesterday blog piece That's in my newsletter. So we know the lockdown stonework. We know the mass have not been effective at stopping this pandemic. They haven't That's a fact. You can argue all you want. Well, they stop people for spreading. They have not stopped this. We know masks are not working to stop the pandemic. Why? Because they haven't So why do we keep doing the same things over the answer? Because we live with idiots on the left who candidly want to wipe free your civil liberties? Turn us into a third world authoritarian state. And the easiest tool to do it is keep you scared with a constant coronavirus. Panic,

Meat and Climate Change: What's the Beef With Beef?

"So much conflicting information about me whether it's good or bad for us and whether it's good for health down planet in so tell us how how to get to be public enemy number one and be perceived as the most environmentally destructive and least healthy food that we're eating and how we got this wrong when it comes to this topic yeah. I really think that's true. I think it's kind of been you know it's been called the king of meats especially in the united states and i think part of that is because it was the most consumed meat in the us. For a long time you know for decades. It was the number one most consumed me. That's actually chicken now. But he has been placed but it was for a very long time meet. You know it was the number one me to there that aspect of it and then there's the fact that beef has always been the most expensive meat. And so you know. I mean maybe frog meat or something obscure would be above it. But as far as meats that are commonly available the beef would be kind of the the thing. You might just have on saturday night. You know the nice state. When i grow in my household had a stake on saturday night for example and that was because it was it was a more expensive piece of meat and so it was something that had just once a week and so it was kind of regarded as you know something that was a little bit special and In around one thousand thousand nine hundred seventy. I think partly because of the fact that it was the the most popular meat and it was also considered kind of almost a little bit of a luxury it but the same time these are large animals and so the individual animals are really visible on the landscape. And when you look at the individual animal like how much water at drinks or how much land purportedly takes to raise an individual animal. It just looks like a lot and so right around. Nineteen seventy you know. I think that i could kinda date. That as the key kickoff point when people really started focusing on you know cattle being a problem ecologically and beef. It shouldn't be something we're eating so much

"Good morning good afternoon or good evening wherever you're listening in the world. Welcome to the news daily. It's wednesday twenty first of july. I'm martin late through every story. You know the score you don't have to and when i was putting together today's podcast just sitting down to the first tentative notes on youtube. Maybe i missed the jeff bezos flight into space. And i hadn't it was team. Ten minutes i was watching it. Live very fatuity timing. I couldn't help but notice they were shuttled to they're playing. That was showing some replays. But earlier in the day shuttled to the launch pad of course in ravines and i guess you know if your amazon company owns a big chunk of ribian the vehicles you going to choose Of one hundred thousand electric vans coming from ravin for amazon parcel deliveries over the course of the next nine years hundred thousand But also what was interesting if you haven't seen it by the way i you know. It's not space podcast by very quickly recap The rocket blasted them into the atmosphere hundred kilometers. Plus up at past the recognized line of of what is being in space and then detached the captial at the end. The booster came back down. Fell back down to earth and landed back on the launch pad. So impressive how do that and spacex to as well. It's just i it's incredible and then jeff bezos is three fellow astronauts also. How few minutes in zero gravity in-space looking back down on the planet and then it fell gradually back to earth at a leisurely sixteen miles an hour. The lost thousand feet as the parachutes were deployed. I tell you that story. Because they didn't know where the she was gonna land just somewhere in the desert. They knew it wasn't going to hit anything. Plenty of land for its land on But i suppose they had an idea but they weren't exactly close several minutes Of just them strapped in the captial. Follow the Money When It Comes to Pegasus Spyware

"I said to you yesterday when we Discuss the story about Pegasus No again, not the clash of the Titans horse. The malware program designed to infect phones and read everything you do and activate your microphone and activate your camera. I said yesterday that it probably was going to be the biggest story in America by Daddy. What I did not take into the calculus there. Was the follow the money effect. Shame on me. You know, you would think a story about a Really pernicious malware program that can get into your phone. That's been bought by state actors and others, according to this Guardian report, And, according to the report, used to track business executives, religious leaders and other things, you would think it would be the biggest story on planet Earth. But again, what I failed to factor in is the fact that the company According to some reporting, by which, by the way, it's with the Washington Post to take everything with a grain of salt, but by some reporting by the Washington Post, the company apparently has paid off some lobbyists from both sides of the political aisle in the United States to fix up it's broken reputation. Listen, I don't fault the company. The companies, you know, producing technology. That's how the world works. But selling that technology to people who could be you know, bad state actors. If they were in fact doing that I am I strongly object to that. They show yesterday. One nuclear. Thank you. We were one of the few people out there covering Pegasus because again, I insist right now, that is probably the biggest story in the country and I'm stunned. More people aren't picking it up.

Shoot at Any Time of the Day With Infrared Photography

"Get into infrared photography itself because this is really fun stuff now way back in january before i started going with the i. r. workshops i talked about you know now is the time. Four infrared photography and in that was mainly because of the pandemic because we were trapped in infrared allowed us to walk the same path that we had walked a million times during shelter in place but it looked completely different. Like going to a whole new planet. And what i felt at the time was absolutely right. This is the kind of thing that can just keep us going. Even when we can't go anywhere you know. He can't go anywhere now. We've done a few workshops. And i've been shooting of quite a bit of irr. Since then. and i've really learned a lot. I've learned a lot in the thing that i've discovered is that i are photography was fantastic for shelter in place but his justice fantastic when shelter in place is over. Right is just as good. And why do i say that because it has so many advantages that visible light photography doesn't gift to us and the first one is being able to shoot during the lousy time of day right that right at the top of the list so for example. Then say that you're planning a family vacation in august all right. We actually get to do that this year. So you go in the family vacation. We know as photographers how this goes. You know family comes first as it should. Photography will come second so a lot of times during the really sweet light during the best parts of the day to take pictures. Were like having a family meal together or doing some sort of activity and you and i are not taking pictures. The cool thing about. I are if you have. I are y- tools with you and talk about those tools. Is that then during the middle part of the day when the kids are taking a nap or you know the partner has gone shopping. Or whatever normally you go. We'll great now. I have time. But with i r photography that is the best time to shoot so that time of day thing just gets totally turned upside down

There is less taboo and and fear about communicating with deceased loved ones A lot of people have embraced that you can be religious and you can be spiritual and still communicate with deceased loved ones In different ways. They do need to speak to a loved one about something. Scientist Joe Fontaine on How Climate Change Impacts West Australia's Biodiversity

"Hi this week. The fires in north america continued to blaze and temperatures in places went to heights. Hardly seen before. So what about here. Both in the east and west where we experienced similar heat and firestorms. Dr joe fontaine is an ecologist originally from oregon now at murdoch university in perth. Well here in the south west of australia we know that the climate's been drying since the mid seventies and we also know that temperatures been going up and one of the things about this region is that we know it's the early canary in the coal. Mine it has been undergoing these events and this process much more so than a lot of other parts of the planet in part because it's a mediterranean climate and so impacts of the climate change for example. We know that. Say the perth airport here. A one degree change in the average has more than doubled the number of days over forty degrees celsius since the early nineteen hundreds that's substantial and that has substantial impact on our biodiversity. Where'd you go to look to your search because vast area to cover isn't it it is it's a treat. I've been really lucky. So i came from overseas originally and then within two and a half days of lending in perth i was in a car and i was headed up to the mid west. So north of perth. This beautiful shrub lands beautiful beaches and really amazing plant diversity. And that's where. I started working and we were doing experimental fires and then in the year sense of migrated south closer to town and i work in woodland's around the city and also in the forests east of the city. Well south of here in purse. You've got a biodiversity hotspot global one. The most amazing variety of plants on have you looked into that area as well absolutely. We're surrounded by biodiversity hotspot. If you just go on the north side of perth in the woodland's here. A ten meter by ten major area can have one hundred species of plants. A hundred when i go home to california and visit my family i love it. I love the landscape. But i have to look around and go. Oh sorry plants. you're a little bit boring.

"planet" Discussed on Planet Raconteur

"So this is inevitable by leonard king. It's meeting new people. That's the hardest of course. What could i expect when before i even know. Someone's name before. I even shake their hand. I know exactly when and how they'll die. I'd always known about my own. Death course trouble was. I thought everyone else knew when i was a kid. You know my mother's cries of now. Don't play in the street. you could get yourself killed. Were met by me as a toddler with a firm. No i won't mommy and at the time it seemed wrong somehow to tell her precisely how or why i knew that but at least back then my death was the only thing i could see out of every one though i think seeing her death hit me the hardest actually for both of us nine. Imagine one day you're sitting at home. You're making your kid peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch. And all of a sudden you look up and your son is clamped onto your leg snot. Flying tears running. Down chan these blubbering about hospitals and and will to get well bouquets. And you're too pale sickly looking skin contrast with what he'd been familiar with what he'd always known and after that it just got worse it started with just people. i knew. Well i'd say didn't matter who it was or how they died. I'd see it eventually. Then it just got more frequent with people. I wasn't familiar with to the point where i'd say. Hello and then take it from there. It's only really bad when i'm unfamiliar with people which granted doesn't happen often these days after the vision about my mom i dedicated my life to oncology. No-one which patients are going to die and win actually helps despite the fact that i can do nothing to change their fate. It wasn't long before former colleague caught on and from there it was only a matter of time till the government figured me out and sent the cia cia knocking at my door. Funny how that works out. Isn't it mr or nesto. They're ready for you now. I nodded the middle aged blonde secretary. She's just doing her job. I can't falter too much. I'm here doing mine. She's going to get hit by a car in six months. I hit and run. Her name is on the badge. The fed's game same as mine. And i'm sure she's introduced herself at one point but it's always better for both of us. I don't remember. It makes things easier when i don't have to put a name to a face. I'm sitting in a small waiting room. No different from any other and you know quite frankly. I wondered since i was a kid. If all the waiting rooms in all the world are actually just the same room leading out to different places like the doctor's office the dentist office your lawyers your banker or in my case. A high security military laboratory somewhere underneath langley. Yeah miss secretary escorts me to the office. The pale wrinkles interface hidden beneath a cake. Don makeup style. That only women her age. Willy wear these days nothing major at least not compared to that done by some of the other people who work here. I can't leave town supervised. But i'm also not risking my life. By cooperating. i stay in my government approved apartment with two. Cia agent standing guard at the door. Good news by the way. Neither of them are going to die until they're well into retirement. Then they escort me to my next appointment. I come here and do whatever it is. They want this time. You know as far as zach kidnapped by the government gig goes this. Ain't half bad still. There's nothing that makes you miss freedom more than not having it anymore. Three men and two women are lined up at the other end of the office standing perfectly straight in front of an old dude. Who can i can only assume as their boss and refusing to make eye contact with me. Ms secretary turns to leave. So it's one of those days. They're not particularly attractive. But they're not ugly either. The woman on the left has skin so dark. Almost blends with the pantsuit. She's wearing her hair is tied back in a bun and she looks like she won't care no matter what i tell her. The other is pale as a sheet in those. She's not looking at me. I can see some perspiration on her brow. See no one likes knowing how they're going to die not in this line of work. At least the man next to her has skin like mine little rhody but his face betrays no emotion. I can discern now. That's all concentrated in his hands. They're tightly clenched behind his back. Now the youngest next to him he's not as pale as a woman opposite his buddy but he still pale and looks like he's fresh out of college probably hasn't seen the sun in quite a while. He's the only one who looks like whatever i say. What comes relief to him out of the five. He's probably the most dangerous next to him as an older man nice tan. I see some gray hairs peeking over the years. He probably doesn't realise there there yet. He's quaking in his boots. But just as boots. I walked down the line. Eighty sniper fire from some wanting revenge. Forty five enemy spy compromise. Your position killed onsite. Fifty three car crash on your way to the pentagon thirty five tortured to death. Oh wow that's interesting what's interesting. The boss asked eyebrows raised arms folded. Okay you're in a hostage negotiation. You're the hostage. The kidnappers surrounded by maybe twenty snipers out in the parking lot. They are made it pretty far if you ask me. There's a bead of sweat growing between the seven of us. I took the moment to step back and think for a bit. To think of my mother stage four tumors ravaging her body in a hospital bed. That i know no amount of research or wishful thinking affects. I know there's no changing. Fate anna flash. I'm behind the last age. His gun is in my hand. And i got him in a chokehold before the others can draw their guns. Well let's get started. I tell these guys. I feel the man start to sway his skin clammy as the realization that he's about to die sinks in. No one likes to know how they're going to die after all if it's any consolation i only outlive you. Buy a few seconds. Then we start to back out the door hubbard..

"May twenty eighth year of our lord. two thousand seventeen by thomas carey. Wait welcome everyone mr speaker. Mister secretary nights senators honored warfighters fellow citizens. Before i begin with my opening remarks i would like to lead everybody and the pledge of allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of vespucci and to the empire for which it stands and the cannon that we uphold and to the god that we serve one nation one people one king and one purpose of security and justice for all. Thank you thank you. I know that this is a difficult time for all of us three days ago. Dr herman phillips esteemed advisor to. The king was convicted by the censorship. Board of high treason. I know this is hard to accept. Dr phillips was a role model for many of us including myself but ultimately we have to accept the fact that the man we knew didn't exist to treasonous and blasphemous pamphlets discovered in. His attic must speak for themselves in them he imagines what he called an alternate history of bizarre world where the new world was discovered by europe in fourteen ninety two. He lays out. The horrifying implications as just monarchy is overtaken worldwide by mob rule primitive democracy. Our old compassionate level ism is replaced by brutal capitalism and countries are unified worldwide by globe spanning treaties in other words a world. Not unlike what the world would have been like had lost the cold war to the ottoman republic struggle to understand what was going through his mind at the time. He must be making a political point somehow. But i don't know what it is. Perhaps he sympathizes with the terrorists who continue to prevent us from deposing mob rule nations and bringing them to monarchy. Perhaps he has forgotten that. Despite the best efforts of our agency for human values there are still places in the world where divorce is legal. Perhaps he has forgotten that we won the gold war that our ideas are all cendant everywhere that they have been proven. True in the process democracy is barbarian ideology suitable only for the ancients. Perhaps he has forgotten the heritage of western civilization proud monolith which has always advocated our values and could never be any other way. But you know i understand dr phillips and the deplorables who still support him. I can see why they believe what they do. Because it's tempting so tempting to believe in his wild fantasies all he says we can abolish serfdom. But let me ask you a question then who will make your house. And perhaps he has forgotten that. Every economist agrees that served them as necessary for the modern economy. He says that we can all work together when he promises an international of smallpox climate change agreement. A web of computers connecting everyone and international council to settle disputes. It all sounds good but humans. Don't work that way. No matter how much the ideologues wanted to be true but my fellow citizens. I think that this should be a moment. Not doubt but of reaffirmation. Dr phillips would have you believe that history is a random drift of free for all a chaos where the actions of individuals can change everything. We're evil could win and everyone would find it normal but he's wrong. We stand at the end of centuries of progress thousands of great thinkers and though they have had their misunderstandings they have always been closing in on a single great truth every philosophical theory. Everything we know about the world confirms our actions and those who disagree with us are on the wrong side of history. Dr phillips worries worries constantly. That if we don't fight for what we believe in we could lose it but we fight because we have the truth and the truth will always try. Thank you and thank god that we live. In the united states of vespucci the greatest nation.

An old man was cleaning the table next to me. It stopped stared up at the tv screen in the corner of the role. I want Ship just like his tone caught my attention. And i looked over. There was a c. n. cnn science report on about building airships in the future with futuristic ultralight materials. It showed a large white prototype of dirigible designed to be used as a cargo holder smiled on narrow man. That's only a model. There hasn't been anything like that in this guy. Since the hindenburg blew up you're not old enough to see the end and burg. Look down and a crooked. Smile crosses his face. I saw in tyler. Texas in nineteen seventy four. It was from another world government schwartz to secrecy. I think i'm a pretty good judge of character. I could tell he wasn't kidding or crazy. His eyes were bright and he seemed very rational. I looked at my watch at least half an hour until my flight arrives. You've got my interest at that point. I tossed a fifty on the table. Top go get us to come back here. Sit just for a few minutes. Keep the change a push to build toward you sound like you have an interesting story to tell. He smiled busy palm. The fifty when over to the bar spoke to the bartender pointing in me bartender nodded. And he came back with another chivas. And coke for me and a seabreeze for himself. He sat down took a long sip side and then began. I was an air force. Supply sergeant in vietnam. When i got back. I picked up work with american airlines. I was offered a job. And tyler see. I was from east texas so that sounded like a great idea to me. I was assigned to the ground. Crew at tyler. Pounds airport They just started a commuter service between tyler and dallas tyler. Never been there. How big is it. Biggest city in east texas may be hundred thousand people these days but back then it was closer to sixty thousand. You ever been east texas. You ever been an east texas thunderstorm. No it's like. God dumps a big tin bucket of water on top of your head then drops a bucket over your head and then he pounds on the bucket. It's all happened in april. Nineteen seventy four man. I remember the date. Well april third nineteen seventy four. The weather was horrendous all across the country that day. Dozens of tornadoes were dropping from the sky. In the north into the east of places like indiana alabama. We're all following the weather reports and by mid afternoon american had cancelled flights for the rest of the day as some really nasty storms. Begin to form right around us now. Everyone else had gone home. But i stayed behind to catch up on reading Repair manual at six. Pm every thing turn completely black in the east. When picked up like the devil and a minute later my radio began to squall. I'll never forget it american airlines. Lta flight five. Nine eight zero calling tyler pounds request permission for emergency landing. Lta yeah. I was puzzled to billy mack. The controller was still in the tower and he came on. He said they weren't listed in american airlines flight scheduled for that day. The voice shouted back on the radio. Dammit i have a wall cloud ram and me up the ass. And i'm barely keeping control. Get your ground crew out and get ready for lines pronto now. I had no idea what this guy was talking about. But hazard ground crew. Well i was it right then. I hung the radio on my belt and ran outside. I was looking towards the storm. I heard the radio again. It was billy this time we have no record of your flight. Number said guy says we're in h class l. ta superliner flight. Five nine eight zero new orleans to dallas requesting permission to land on your runway a z. Four zero now. You could practically hear a pin drop on the radio. Finally billy mack came on and said really slow. You're cleared for landing. There's nothing on. the runway. Lights are on good luck. my channel. Beat pete what the fuck is out there. There's some damn thing on the radar besides of an aircraft carrier. I told him. I have no idea to hadn't broken through the wall cloud yet. I'm still looking. The air tower channel lit up again. We could use a few people on the ground. We have twenty lines. We don't need a mast. We have an auto anchor. Billy mag his voice twenty lines of what. What the hell are you talking about. Twenty mooring lines you. Putz the pilot said. This is an airship. Lt a lighter than air. What the hell's wrong with you. I clicked on my radio. Something is just breaking through the clouds. Hold on and i saw. Oh my god was all i could mutter. It was like a giant ocean liner partying the clouds only. This was five hundred feet above the ground and lebron straight towards the main runway. A long pale cylinder coming at us like the finger of god himself. You see that. Billy i asked He drawled it won't have been funny if it hadn't been so unreal. Billy's voice came back to the radio. We're not ready to handle craft like yours. We don't have the ground crew but you're welcome to make an unassisted landing about that. Point pilot came back with a series of rather unkind language which clearly showed he'd been in the air force to finally concluded any fuck important storm. I guess i could hear the engines and they were so loud. You know like aircraft engines but moving slowly. It sounded like god was clearing. His throat will what happen next. Thankfully we were in the lull in front. The storm at that point and the wind was almost com as the giant airship lowered its nose down and dove.

Yet the voice did not support such an interpretation. And then I had it right on the cusp of the word one the pitch and Cadence had become infused with something unexpected something. I had failed to recognize precisely because I had not been looking for it. It was a blend of emotion that swamped Indian eight sense of caution, which remained that instilled in me a sense of Triumph and Vindication. It was Envy pure and simple it was Envy. I thought that I heard the zero and reached out to embrace it only to find that an advantaged had never in fact existed at all. "We all love a story with a happy ending. But I would rather something. a little more darker how to listen to mine It is Halloween after all if we had the power of life and death in our hands, what would we do with it? Our next story is one man's quest to that need answers. He was end game by Thomas Canfield. End game by Thomas Canfield Devon Sue's within 30 seconds The Voice conveying this warning was calm restrained devoid of any sense of urgency. It was matter of fact, but I was gripped by the same surge of adrenaline as always was thirty seconds. It was embarrassed fraction of an instant. It was the mere flicker of an eyelid and it was a lifetime. It was all of eternity either perspective was equally valid of the one constant that always catapulted to the fore was the blistering intensity a dropping away of all other cares and concerns. The world was reduced to a single overriding imperative. Disarm the mechanism short-circuit the equation I waited hunched forward tense and expected What followed was this incredible bit of lag and interval of emptiness that seem to extend out into Infinity? And then 29 2827 the same calm unhurried tone a female voice pitched low off with the certain husky intimacy to it as though the approaching Spectre of death were a game of Seduction a courtship that led to but one inevitable conclusion off. Shut the machine down stared at it with glazed empty ice. The designers had given the device and imposing physically intimidating appearance package it bristled with switches and dials featured Sleek silver and black hard alloy casing. Its appearance play to one's own inner conception of death blunt hard-nosed unforgiving. It was disconcerting to realize that even death could be manipulated in such a fashion even death was subject to such superficial ploys. I unplugged the machine headed away at the back of the closet. Some people display the unit quite openly setting it out upon a table as they might any other piece of bric-a-brac. I found such behavior in comprehensible to face such Temptation every day to deny and overcome. It asked and demanded too much of any man. In the closet, at least I can pretend that the device didn't exist. Even if the pretense was not wholly satisfactory or convincing. Devin Sue's within 20 seconds to pause again hanging over the edge of the precipice. It was an exhilarating moment a rush unlike any other off and then 19 18 17. I terminated the counted thirteen set sweated to the chair death was parked off in front of me a malignant Viper silver and black a stared at it fascinated. What's the device really an accurate representation of death form follow function or so it was said but what's this not rather one more interim step one more way station part of a process that would lead them to death, but that would reveal itself only in the final shattering instant. A pleasant lassitude settled over me. I felt drowsy and spent a ran my fingertips over my skin with a slow sensual movement gratified to find myself alive still something worried at my mind. I detected a subtle shift in the voice as he counted down the seconds. The change was unexpected and unnerving. The Voice had become marked by a tremulous quality and underlying strength of emotion. It was too indistinct and undeveloped for me to Define however long for that I would have to wait would have to push closer to the End Game Dev ensues within 10 seconds the pause stretching out to Eternity boss taught as piano wire then 987. I tried to stay away had endeavored to avoid the machine off, but I'd come back as always stood helpless to deny it. I'd become more and more intrigued by a metaphysical conundrum. No one had yet succeeded in resolving did a man here the zero that is zero Mark point of termination the final irrevocable end of everything, but did a man here it did it register upon his Consciousness. He took the one hanging out over the abyss but the 00 in-depth would seem to be simultaneous effectively canceling each other out. No one know not even those who had designed the unit whether the zero manifested itself in a manner that could be comprehended and recognized or whether it was lost wage swallowed annihilated in the spiraling descent into death. The only way to find out was to follow the string to the very end. For three there was still time to bail in the process. And for a fleeting instant. I considered it. I might have acted had it not been for the voice as the count approached nearer to the end. The underlying Dynamics changed the voice assumed a more emphatic cast abandoning your of carefully modulated neutrality substituting in its place what exactly shades of meaning resided in the tone that had entire lifetime might prove insufficient to decipher. What do you mean your grandma Porsches? Grandkids? You got I got lucky you guys. You guys want to hear a story. Do you want to hear a story. All right. Hang on. I got what you got one. Go ahead. This one's called Alpha and Omega a co-creative tale of collaborative reality off by this dude named Joshua Ray me real hard hit a buddy. That's how it goes. On the day world began there were 100 monkeys in the trees the next day. There were five hundred then a thousand somebody pulled out a typewriter typewriter which hadn't been invented yet obviously, but there it was one of the monkey swung down grabbed a banana on the way perched a beaten-up felt Fedora head had on his head and started typing away Another Monkey looked over a shoulder and thought too hard and he started banging away on another typewriter pretty soon. The whole Forest way to had typewriters in the works. There may have been a forest right? Otherwise, we're the Monkees have been hanging hours with their typewriters like yeah. Anyway, the whole Forest rang out with Clickety clickety clack of typewriter key striking off. The ding of the mail at the end of line and The Zing of paper being pulled out of the roller. There was also the occasional. Oh, yeah, that's it. That sounds great choice or the muttered. Damn what happens next from the army of newly-made typist somebody with a cigar regard to help them concentrate suck. Everybody had to have a cigar of the Monkees had cigars the lengthy smoked cigarettes were lady monkeys, of course the reams of paper piled up of a great Haze of tobacco smoke drifted through the trees and some of the monkey stopped typing and gathered in little clusters around the water coolers that appeared here and there they did not make sense. Do you want to hear the end or do you want to keep bugging me about what does and it make sense? It's okay. Let's hear it. All right. All right. Shuttle ride, what do you think harb one monkey asked another nervously lighting another cigarette think it'll be any good. I don't know Sid said Harville have to see you offered said a hit off the flask Abu so he was carrying. Well, hey, they say the Greeks invented civilization. Maybe ouzo was here first, huh? The Clusters got bigger the number of typist got smaller and soon it was just a few sets of Simeon fingers hunting and pecking away then just packing then the last quip a final thing as the final sheet of cheek Bond paper was pulled in Triumph from the Cordy tooth beast and placed into the stack. There was silence. A monkey. Nobody had seen yet wearing a vest and a pair of horn-rimmed glasses swung down picked up the pile of paper then to Sheetz like an 8 and 1/2 by a lawyer and giant deck of cards between barely opposable thumbs and shuffled them together. He carefully tapped the pages squared the edges off tap them again and stepped up to the microwave. Wait. Wait, where did they get a microphone Guitar Center? And I don't know where the microphone came from but it stands to reason right. I mean if you've got a thousand monkeys to hear you, you've got to have some sort of a PA system. So there has to be a microphone. All right. I finish a weird story. The monkey cleared his throat the silence got quieter. The other monkey's looked at each other nervous now, by the way, hopefully would all sound. Okay. Yeah, their thoughts flickered across their faces. Okay, I mean gosh now that it's going to be read, you know out loud took a real audience, you know, maybe it's a little too silly this whole collaborative thing might not been since might not have really been a good idea.
