"Capital slash Natalie brunel. Next up, let's talk about Bitcoin 2023. That is the biggest Bitcoin conference in the world and take a look at the video from last year in Miami. It was an incredible event that was jam packed with the best speaking sessions workshops and networking events that I've been to in this space. I had the chance to live anchor the Bitcoin magazine news desk and serve as MC and it was such a full circle moment for me to be at that conference because the first one I attended was Bitcoin 2021 in Miami and that's where I actually launched the coin stories podcast. I went on a media pass because I used to be a reporter and I actually went backstage and started asking the speakers like Michael saylor and Preston pish if they would come on my show and they did and a year later I'm back at the conference as someone who actually has a career now in Bitcoin. So you never know what can happen at these events. I highly recommend going so you can meet other people that share the same values and passion for Bitcoin and if you want your ticket at a 10% discount had to be dot TC slash conference and use the code HODL. I'll see you there. But it's believed to be a signal that this is the beginning of the end of the cycle that the fed is realized that they've gone about as far as they can. I think that all of this talk pause pivot step down. Comes from a pre COVID era. That the fed has got my back. The fed wants to make sure that I get a maximum bonus and I get to buy the plaid test because that's all that I really care about. And that the fed will do everything they can to get me into a plaid Tesla. And when the fed is fighting me to get into my plaid Tesla, of course I'm being sarcastic here. That I can't believe that they would actually do it. Oh yes, they are doing that. They don't want you to buy a plant Tesla. As a matter of fact, they want you to keep driving whatever you're driving and just repair it and keep going with it. And why is that because the game changer of all game changers has occurred. We have inflation. Now the problem with the inflation argument, and this gets to some of the things I've been arguing, the vast majority of people still believe inflation is the word we're not the Voldemort. We're not allowed to say transitory. It is. They still believe it is a one time event that is an artifact of reopening the economy post COVID. Got us to 9% inflation and it's going to peak and inflation is going to go back to 2% and that's going to be the end of it. And Jay Paul, you're going way too much hiking 75 basis points every meeting if that's what's going to happen. I don't think that's happening.

"That was kind of it on that answer. So a 100,000 Mach E 150,000 Ford lightning. I don't really know how they're getting up to that 600,000 vehicle capacity. Maybe just kind of a flub and answering the question. But that didn't really offer any clarity to me. The last thing that I want to highlight from their earnings call then was some discussion around the profitability of EVs, as they have said before, they reiterated that the Mach-E is profitable, but said that, quote, but overall, as we said in the past, our fab margins are not quite where we like them to be, especially relative to our more profitable ice vehicles. End quote. So that should show how important their ice profitability is for them in their targets of actually improving profitability. Anyway, back to the Mach E, he said, quote, what we're finding in Mach-E is that actually most of the exciting work starts after job one. That's when the OTA is really make a customer impact. But on the cost side and the profit side, I guess we have learned so much about the lack of integration in our engineering operations. As we compared our engineering on Mach-E to others that are best in class. And we are finding lots of profit opportunities as we get after that integration between engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing, even within engineering. This is exactly what sandy Monroe was talking about. Forwards making it very clear there that that is an entirely new way of thinking for them. Okay, so maybe that allows them to figure it out and close the gap or maybe it's shows how big that gap is if they're just kind of getting to some of these things. Anyway, we'll move on from the call, but I do want to tie in a tweet yesterday from Tesla's head of investor relations, Martin vehicle, seems very fitting for this discussion that we just had. He said, quote, it seems the valuation based on current vehicle sales is an outdated metric. What if value of a company consists of size of the current EV business, plus future, potential value of the EV business, plus future value of FSD energy, et cetera minus cost of disassembling ice business?.

"It's definitely cool to see it in action, but at the same time, it does also give a little bit of context for why the CyberTruck is the CyberTruck. If you can make a product that doesn't have to go through these steps, that's going to speed things up and make it quite a bit cheaper. Got some news on another way that Tesla is trying to do that today as well. Test meeting and reporting on this Tesla has filed a patent back in July that was published yesterday for digitally customizable headlights, which would allow Tesla to use the same hardware and other vehicles and customize for different requirements and different regions with just software. Elon noting today on Twitter, that this is a bigger win than it may seem. Now I'm not sure how expensive it is in terms of time for Tesla to adjust their line for different parts like this for different regions. And as Tesla gets more localized, hopefully stuff like that becomes a little bit less important in general, but certainly there should be some savings from homologation via software like this, and then I would think the probably biggest win would be that it makes managing the supply chain for this piece easier, where they would have previously had to manage their forecasts, their demand for multiple parts here and made sure that all those parts were in good stock positions, and then adjust those orders and stock levels based on how their production allocation actually ends up shaking out. Now they or their suppliers don't have to worry about any of that if this is just one piece. Tessa can just say, hey, I need 4 million of these headlights this year. So add simplification to multiple different pieces of the production process, and you get better economies of scale on that one new part. So I would guess those are the things that Musk is conveying by this being a bigger win than it may seem. Maybe some other things as well. As for the status here, I'm not really sure where this is at. I'm not sure if the patent has been just applied for, or if it's been approved, but judging by Elon's reply there, he does seem confident in this working. All right, next up, I wanted to spend just a couple of minutes going through some interesting comments that Ford made on their earnings call yesterday, right off the bat in the opening comments from CEO, Jim Farley, a couple interesting things. First, he said quote, we can't grow a profitable BEV business without a very healthy ice business..

"Hey everybody rob now we're here and today we're going to be talking about some of Tesla's innovations. We've got a new video from sandy Monroe on the Model S plaid tear down that they're doing and a couple of other things there as well. We'll also talk about some interesting comments made on Ford's earnings call yesterday we had their shareholder letter. Now we also have the earnings call. And we've got a couple other things, including some funny comments from BMW. Quick look at the stock Tesla today finishing up 3.6%, which hardly feels like a move at all anymore, given the recent volatility. But tossing closing at $923, 32 cents to end the week. The NASDAQ today was up 1.6%, significantly outperforming the S&P and the doubt. We're now about a week and a half out from Tesla's earnings report and Tesla that day had closed at $937 before earnings. So Tesla kind of rebounding a little bit now down just one and a half percent since that report. But the NASDAQ over that same period of time, up 4%, so Tesla still underperforming since that report, the market not really quickly changing its mind like we have seen on certain occasions in the past. One thing to look out for for next week, Tesla should be posting their ten K annual filing, probably on Monday, it was on Monday, February 8th last year, so some investors may still be waiting for that to make any decisions on Tesla. One way or the other, then we certainly know that some analysts are waiting for that information. Always some interesting details in there that will definitely cover on the podcast too. When that does come out. All right, we're going to start off today talking about a few of Tesla's different innovations, and we're starting with the Model S plaid. If you're not aware, sandy Monroe, at Monroe live, has been doing a teardown of the plaid with his team. I would definitely recommend watching all those videos when ro in general puts out really great stuff. Today they happen to be looking at the electric drive module and the rear cradle so basically all the housing and components going into that drive module. Monroe was looking at it with one of his associates, Jordan, who has done a lot of work for them on a previous.

"Hundred thirty one thousand dollar price. This incredibly affordable tesla is basically. What musk is trying to do is say that these are the best car. That's kind of what they've always been trying to do what they really want to do with this flat dishes show that they can be the quickest fast cars while so what we've got here is a super duper edition of the model s. with three electric motors allowed to go from the to sixty in sierra under two seconds. Although there's a big asterisk which get into minute cover the quarter mile in about nine point. Two seconds three hundred ninety miles of range at top speed around two hundred miles an hour so definitely the speed is the main talking point. But they've also made some other improve on the interior and everything else to well. Wanna get into all that but before we get to details of the car at the ask. Plaid edition is that that is baseball. Reference yes yeah. We've definitely seen a number of space while references over the years It remains to be seen exactly where we're gonna go to from here but yes we have gone. Plaid tesla had promised to plaid plus edition. That was also supposed to launch this week But musk actually just went ahead and cancelled that. He said they don't actually need that anymore. But i'm a little bit skeptical then interesting. Well speaking of another baseball. Reference ludicrous speed. Which is what this. What were you just mentioned. The speed sounds like bit more context around that the speech and how they're able to achieve this this particular model yes. Those figures are quoting are really really impressive to quicker to sixty in less than two seconds could make this potentially the quick production car on the planet. there are some other limited edition super exotic cars. That'll do maybe in the same ballpark. Maybe a little bit quicker but just for comparison like sharon which is the fastest car in the world. The top speed somewhere in excess of two hundred fifty miles an hour on that will go zero to sixty in about two point three seconds. And that'll cost you in excess of two million dollars so in that perspective the mindless plaza..
