"He said something very strange last week when he was openly recruiting. Jj watt to come join his brothers in pittsburgh that means maybe he wants to be a part of steelers and is thinking of taking less money. I doubt it. But that's something that you think about. It is a crazy crazy. Free agent world as jj watt said. Free agency is wild and no minnesota hockey fan. He was not talking about the minnesota wild like the team. Thinks factor fiction number. Five a healthy eric. Ebron is critical to the success of the twenty. Twenty one pittsburgh steelers fact eric. Ebron dropped seven ben. Rothlisberger passes in two thousand twenty. That's not great at all but is nothing compared to the fourteen. That diontae johnson let escape his grasp into one thousand twenty with juju likely jetting. Ebron is going to get a lot of looks in the middle of the field and has the athleticism to move the chains in the steelers are going to compete for lombardi trophy. Double e. will still need to stay very healthy but get open and keep his eyes at hands on the ball. If ben roethlisberger is the quarterback you know he covets tight ends if a rookie or a mason rudolph or a newer guy is in there. They go to a tight end. As a safety valve eric. Ebron nonetheless will be very critical to the success of the black and gold. Will we be on point. Only time will tell check out. Mahomes to have surgery to fix turf toe

"Were talking about Patrick Mahomes undergoing surgery turf toe. And we started talking about this about three hours ago, and we were just going around the room going. Do we know exactly what a turf toe is? Because it gets it gets thrown around a lot and remember when dealing Sanders was with us at the Super Bowl when he took off his sock, and he showed us that toe That was turf toe that never healed whether he had surgery on it or nod Jack Lambert, the Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker, I think had turf toe and it stayed with him the rest of his career, so we thought You know what? Let's bring in somebody who knows what they're talking about. A former NFL offensive lineman won a Super Bowl with Washington a Harvard trained orthopedic doctor, mark addicts and good to have you back on here, Doc. So Do you want us to tell you what we think Turf toe is and then you could probably correct us on this. That'd be great. Let's see what you guys got. Let's see how good you are. All right. I'll start with you, Paulie. What do you think your toe is like a ligament sprain in the toe that hampers an athlete from pushing off like sprinting like running for two. You got a definition for church to one's toe was so severely sprained from the pounding on the torture that it does something. What kind of disconnects Tito from the other toes and needs to be surgically fix a snap back into place. All right, Seaton It is an injury that when, uh, say like wide receivers are going to get their second foot in and they drag it along the left their toes on the turf, and then it gets hurt like that. No, I did not. I did not even look at it that way. Yes, my club, So I thought it was a rug burn style injury from any time she goes on the worse when you're playing with your kids of rug burn, but I do believe it's out. Now ligament underneath your toe that connects to the foot. Okay, let's let's bring in. Doc and Doc. What exactly is Turf toe. Well, I think I think example one wins the ligament injury so it could be a ligament injury. Or it could be an injury to the planter plate, which is almost like a Cartlidge thing That's on the bottom of it, So it is the big toe joint. And it rarely. Is it an injury? There were quite a surgery. The bass majority of players don't require surgery in the NFL there have been about there was a study that was done that had about 30 guys with serfdom. Injuries that were pretty severe, and only about 10% ended up requiring some surgery. Deon Sanders did require surgery. Deon Sanders Strip toe injury did end his career. Essentially, he stuck around for a couple more years, but never really was the same. Antonio Gates had it had a pretty bad turf toe had surgery in 2000 and eight and played Many years was very productive after that injury in surgery, So generally speaking guys, too, Okay. I think John was as his foot with a test was an extreme case. Didn't Mahomes play the Super Bowl with a Tauron ligament? Certainly did. I mean, I In other words, when you have a tip toe injury there, three grades break one. Great, too Great three. It's the same for almost anything. Great one, just a few of the fibers or tourney. Great to a bunch more. Tauron. Great three. It's completely disrupted. So for someone to need surgery generally, there's got to be a little bone chip. It's in the joint or the toe has to be somewhat unstable, which would tell you that that ligament tear had to be pretty significant.

Watson Wants Houston Texans Trade - No Matter The New Coach

"Be enemy. Who watson apparently liked and wanted at the beginning the talk. Now there's nothing better talk narrows it. The shaun watson is doesn't care who the head coaches that he's going to ask out and he wants to be traded now. This is the fact that i've tried to say speculation until he says something. But there's enough insight from these people who do their job morton schefter and and rappaport and all the people that it's this is not fake. It's obviously real people. Think laking this to these. I don't have any idea. But all of them have their sources. It's definitely there's there's no way it's anybody. But sean somebody connected to sean agent. A a buddy whatever it is we everybody has somebody that go to for this. And this is obviously real. The question is how real is the trade. How real would it be. And sean again. The texans on a on a give him all that money which he deserved. But putting a no trade clause in for twenty five year old and an and now if he decides to drop the no-trade clause he can decide where he goes. So let's say it was the pittsburgh steelers who wanted offer but it was less offer than the. Let's say the chicago bears and he says i'm not going to either one and i'm not going to be here so now you've been he'd that the only thing he does control about this he can hold out but he can also pigeonhole you into who you're going to trade with which may cost you less. Because they know the sean while you may get less for him because shawn watson can lead you down all six different teams and lead you down to. Here's the to. it's either here. i'm not going. And i'm not showing up now. You can call the bluff and say we're not trading you there for that and cause they're not we're not we're going to get somewhat close to equal value which is going to be impossible. But then you're going to have to hold out if you wanna play that kind of hard ball or less. Just gonna go in and say you know what we'll give you away for a cheaper price. Let the fact that he's unhappy as obviously real so. It's something that has to be discussed now. I'm not going to sit here and speculate will go into the jetsons you i don't know and none of us do and i don't know i still think it'd be stupid to trade him. But if you play hardball you and you're playing that okay. Are you going to hold out. You're not call the bluff.

"And fiction. Vans mcdonald was a very valuable tight. End for the steelers since coming over in a trade before the start of the two thousand seventeen regular season from the san francisco forty niners although his stats weren't gotti. The vanimo was very valuable blocking tight end as well as a reliable receiver. Remember that steph. Form against tampa in week three. Whoa but because of the salary cap a lot of people thought number eighty nine was going to be a cap casualty anyways and it was going to be released. Vance was not given a lot of targets at twenty twenty but with eric ebron being more of a receiver than a blocker. He was definitely needed. The steelers are going to need to find a blocking specialist. If they don't think that kevin. Rader or zach. Gentry is the right player to fulfill that role so vance. Mcdonald's retirement does create a void but the steelers would have been the ones creating anyways if macdonald had not stepped away factor fiction number four. The steelers are not likely to hire a quarterbacks coach into thousand twenty one the steelers are not always head quarterback coaches when randy feet was promoted from that particular rank of position coach in two thousand eighteen. It was left vacant for two seasons however it proved to be a glaring mistake when ben rothlisberger went down with an injury in two thousand nineteen and young quarterbacks like mason rudolph and devon hodges could have definitely benefited from having that sort of mentor reports have surfaced that matt canada. The twenty twenty quarterbacks coach is still the front runner for the offensive coordinator post however because of the rooney rule. The steelers need interview minority candidates. But only have to do one. They've interviewed to we've seen in the past with this particular that a more suited candidate can't arise because of it and that happened in two thousand seven when mike tomlin was taken over russ grimm and can't wizened hunt to assume the steelers top job with hugh jackson and pep hamilton and the mix. Now the steelers could actually be interviewing for the next. Qb coach as two of the three mention could be getting a job out of it no matter who gets what the steelers cannot afford to have merely an offense coordinator without a quarterbacks coach factor fiction number five. Twenty twenty one. We'll be ben roethlisberger. Swansong with the pittsburgh steelers fact like it feels that way ben. Rothlisberger is a hall of fame quarterback statistically the greatest signal caller in the history of the black and gold but all careers. Have to come to an end. If you were not dealing with the salary cap situation then you could conceivably build your team around keeping number seven if both sides wanted to keep the party going. But that's not the nfl's way. Ben has essentially priced himself off of the team if he plays in two thousand and twenty one he's going to count forty one million dollars against the cap that could possibly be a quarter of the team's cap money. Ben cannot be reassigned to another deal. It just wouldn't work the steelers. Don't have to move on from ben this year even though it would save almost twenty million dollars of a cap hit but they can't go on much longer without greatly hindering the rest of the team's future so are we on point or are we way off base. That's factor fiction be short at checkout beat. Ese for all your pittsburgh. Steelers needs four factor fiction. My name is brian. anthony davis. Check us out each and.

"pittsburgh. steelers" Discussed on Behind the Steel Curtain

"For all of your breaking pittsburgh steelers needs everything that you want you get from bt sc look. There's always so much talk about when it comes to the pittsburgh steelers especially this week with a retirement assistant coaching searches and an interesting addition at quarterback it reminds me of the biggest single for klaus mine and his epic german band. The scorpions remember the scorpions. Hey they're not just rocky like a hurricane they had a song called winds of change nineteen ninety. Listen to these lyrics. The world is closing in. Did you ever think that we could be so close like brothers. The futures in the air can feel it everywhere. I'm blowing with the wind of change and definitely there are plenty of winds of change in pittsburgh so there surely a lot to wonder about take a listen at some bold statements on this and so much more as we label them. As fact or fiction factor fiction number one fan should be concerned about the signing of dwayne haskins fiction. Hear me out on this definitely on the contrary in fact this is really a perfect signing for the pittsburgh steelers but fans are overreacting to the deal. It's not like they signed the former ohio state and washington football team quarterback to a long term deal. They're not trying to replace. Ben rothlisberger with him they brought him in on a futures contract. Most always futures contracts are minimum salary deals with little or no signing bonus usually players sign to future contracts going to be out just maybe camp bodies but every once in a while a team strikes gold here. They did it before with mike hilton. They signed him to a future deal in two thousand seventeen. He spent a couple weeks on the practice squad in december of two thousand sixteen but they brought him in. He became a great player for the steelers. Will that happen again. With dwayne haskins. Maybe probably not. But it doesn't matter schorr. The former first rounder and fifteenth overall pick underachieved. And he really earned a bad reputation for poor play and work ethic in his time in our nation's capital however everybody deserves a second chance and the steelers could be a good situation for haskins to turn things around his quarterback. Alex smith said it can just go ahead and eliminate the distractions. He's going to be fine. They can cut him very easily if this does not work out. Because it's a futures deal there's very little risk in there so much high reward if he finds a way to revitalize his career but once again the steelers did not bring him in to be the starting quarterback. He's not there to replace. Ben rothlisberger or mason rudolph in twenty twenty one. He's actually there to replace. Devlin hodges and duck was a four last year so really the ceiling might be. Qb three for him and if it works out it'll be fantastic if it doesn't well we wish him well in his future endeavors but not a bad signing whatsoever so don't freak out about this one fans factor fiction number two. The steelers offensive line is not going to go through the long rebuild. That most fans think is going to need to happen. We'll say fact on that when fans talked about the steelers offensive line getting older. They were not incorrect. They are long in the tooth at three spots. Alejandro villanueva david decastro. Marquees pouncey pounds. He said it'd be fifty fifty regarding season but he has a season left on his deal. I kinda bet that he's going to return. But the steelers will most likely draft their future at the center position that he's held down since two thousand ten. They're probably gonna do that in april but if he comes back that's a good thing to castro was reportedly hurt last season and what time left on his deal to he should be back as well. The return of these two will provide veteran leadership for transition for the entire season. So this will be a good thing because you can't completely overhaul it next year. I know everybody thinks these guys have to go but no there's a progression to it. The one guy that i do expect to go would be alejandro villanueva. His contract is up and speculation. Is running rampant. Actually that the thirty two year old blindside protector will not return next season to the steelers. And we'll possibly retire. Look if that happens. Hate to see it. Because i'm a big big al fan. But if he's looking at going i get it. If that happens. I would think that szucs okorafor will move over from the right side and zach banner. Should he be resigned. I really think they're going to resign him. After being injured against the new york giants in the first game of the season he is probably gonna get a one year deal. I know he doesn't have a contract right now but all signs point to him coming back. He even made a point to put on twitter. That was the best exit interview that he's ever had. These really excited for next season. So i think the writing is on the wall for zach. Banner remember zach. Banner is a fantastic run blocker in an interview with. He made a point to say that when he was at usc. Sam darnold was only sacked four times his entire career there. So that's a big thing as well. I would also think that kevin dotson would assume the right position so what you would have in my speculation. You would have pouncey back at center for one more year. You would have decastro there if he's feeling better and he's not hurt like a lot of people thought he was. That'd be really good to have him find at right guard and right tackle. You would have possibly banner. That's his natural position. You have chook says the left tackle and you would have kevin dotson at left guard. That's a good mix of young and old. That could be a very good offensive line for this team. That would mean that the draft could bring in some new life as well and the rebuild would not be as extreme as a lot of people would think factor fiction number three vance. Mcdonald's retirement creates a huge floyd fact.

Lake Erie's Revenge: The Cleveland Browns Date With AFC Destiny

"Thanks for joining me. Man going to be on with ov pablo jake. Trotter covers the cleveland browns for espn and before that you reported on the big twelve and followed baker mayfield's meteoric rise. So you live in cleveland. I live in cleveland. I live about five miles away from the browns training facility in berea. Ooh so listen you are right at the heart of everything you cover the browns. I want to understand what does winning this first. Playoff game. twenty six years doing it against is truly hated. Enemy in the pittsburgh steelers. What does it do for a city after two decades of being like generally humiliated. How would you describe the energy. Jake in cleveland right now. Yeah i would describe it as one of the greatest moments in the history of the city. And i'm not just talking about football. I'm talking about all moments. If you talk to people who grew up your they would say that sunday one of the happiest days of their lives sunday night after that win you could hear fireworks going off around cleveland. I don't know who has fireworks in the middle of january but people have them. Apparently people were driving up and down. Their streets warns it was a very exciting night. For cleveland and one that they've been waiting for for twenty six years and really forever considering how dominated they have been by the steelers over the years. Yes i'm looking at a list of things. Actually jake that happened in nineteen ninety four when the browns won their last playoff game. Turns out the number one on the billboard charts. Was the sign by ace of base. Is that all sound right to you. In terms of how did all of this has been feeling. Yeah i've been doing this all year checking what songs were number one at a time. The browns headache milestone. I know that when they were foreign one for the first time since nineteen ninety. Four when bill belichick was still the head coach. That boys to men actually had the number one song on the billboard. Hot one hundred. That kind of gives you a little context of how long it's been since the browns were at this point. I mean they're starting quarterback for example wasn't even alive to rewind to a little bit more recently the week leading up to this playoff win over the steelers it was. I don't even know how to explain it. Other than just like total chaos. Breaking news into i ate out of cleveland browns coach. Kevin stefanski has tested positive for covid. Nineteen according to our adam schefter to other coaches and players dealing with kobe related issues. They're closing their facilities fellas. They ultimately competed with kevin stefanski in his basement. Watching the game not on the sidelines. So what is this week been like as it relates to cove it. They had a practice on wednesday which was weird to see because they haven't had a practice or very many of them not even just last week for the last couple of weeks. I mean go back to the game in week. Sixteen when they traveled to play the jets. They had to delay their flight because they had a positive test from one of their players. Then they had to put their entire receiving core as high risk close contacts on the reserve covid nineteen list. They finally get to newark. They stay the night there. They were not able to do a walk through before leaving on saturday so they held a walk through on the fifth floor. The parking garage that morning adjacent to their hotel really from that moment until now it is been total. Chaos i mean they have had almost every single day since then. Something chaotic happen where they'd had to adjust. They went the entire week last week. Almost without a practice until getting one in friday they finally got kevin stefanski their head coach back in the building on thursday. It has been a bizarre couple of weeks. But to this team's credit into kevin's stefanski credit. They have never panicked. They have never felt sorry for themselves and they have been able to overcome it. Which is the most impressive thing. When this team given their lack of success in the past in the way as they've come together their ability to overcome different curve balls that have been thrown their way.

Doing any more motivation than playoff game. And and i'm telling you it's like every coach it will use a another player's words or deeds to motivate his team. It's the oldest thing going back in time. When football. I started i. I actually don't think he was being disrespectful. Rounds of the browns disrespect. I i think really sounded terrible. But i think what he was trying to say was that we play the browns. I i understand. it's the playoffs. But it's another game against cleveland download. "The day here in Broncos country, John Elway after 10 years In the GM role is going to be changing his role with the Denver Broncos. He is going to remain president of football operations, but they are hiring a new GM. Alfred. What do you want to see in the new GM? Uh, I want to see E guess a blueprint. I want to see the of continuous blueprint of the same players being drafted year after year. Time after time. Even when you add guys in free agency, they all fit the same mode. So you know what the players look like before. They even become part of the Denver Broncos and give you an example. We could talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers, and we can talk about their offensive lineman. We know that they're big. We know that they're quick and they're not really massive man who stay in place. You have to be able to move out of the blue print. There has been going on for a long time, right so We need a blueprint. We have to have a blueprint of what these players like. You can't get a guy who is a second round defensive lineman who can't play on the interior of the defensive line. If you don't play a 43 defense in the 34 defense, you need to have a big style guy. So way get threw out some of the You know some of the selections that we've had in the past because guys were good college players. If they don't get the blueprint and the model, then we probably won't have them as part of the franchise going for what they have to be in that. Category. Jo Jo Oils What are we doing

Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Indianapolis Colts this weekend

"Look the american football conference. The playoffs are not intact as of yet the steelers just a few weeks ago where the number one seed in the american football conference now. They are the number three seed after three straight losses. Look this team yes. They are in the playoffs. But they are fighting for momentum redemption and seating. And it's very important that they take care of their own business by beating the indianapolis colts which is going to be a tough task. The colts are coming in at ten and four. They ride a fantastic defense behind a forest buckner and also darius leonard and very capable offense as well led by the old wily veteran by the name of philip rivers. Yes they know him. They have been around him a lot in the last seventeen seasons and rivers has faced off against ben roethlisberger as well remember he was the guy who was supposed to go to the steelers and number eleven but ben roethlisberger was picked instead because he went earlier on to the new york giants and then was promptly traded to the sago charters. Thank you ally manning for refusing the play in san diego. You're whiny ways really helped pave the way for to super bowl champions in the pittsburgh steelers in that era.

Well just we just talked to him next because the steelers had just lost twenty seven to seventeen against the cincinnati bengals on monday night football. Might tom had spoken to the media after the game. Obviously until on tuesday on a short week leeann week sixteen. The pittsburgh steelers absolutely need a win. And mike tomlin had a lot of questions to answer as the steelers. Prepare for the indianapolis colts to come to heinz field in the season. Finale there at the big ketchup bottle. He started things off of the recap of the cincinnati bengals game. He said the loss still stings. The steelers simply just have to perform better but he also mentioned that some things about team went from bad to worse and he was mainly talking about the team's poor starts. He talked about three turnovers in the first half essentially spotting the bengals seventeen points. He said it wasn't just the offense though. The defense failed to get the the bengals the field even with those turnovers. They never forced field goals. They must they gave up fourteen points in the last two turnovers. He's just a very poor start to the game. He said the score that the steelers face the way that they wanted to operate offensively. They couldn't lean on the run the whether they wanted to. He said the nonetheless with all of that said in his bad as the team was. He's vans cannot expect sweeping changes. He's a they just have to do it better when he meant it. He's talking about he. S to the steelers have to perform better. They have to plan better. He is still confident. You can't expect the head coach. The same thing different. He is still confident in this football team with the coaches that they have they. They need to shut their mails and go to work

The end of the game provided an all time gambling moment as the Ravens covered a 3.5 point spread, thanks to a desperate, failed attempt by the Browns to advance down the field by a series of laterals that ended it a safety. Brown's loss means the Pittsburgh Steelers have clinched the SC

A.J. Green keeps future with Bengals up in the air: 'Who knows what is going to happen?'

"Green had a decent game yesterday He after the game was Noncommittal about his future is going to help him with that. Aj thank you. i love you. You're going to be thirty three years old next year. See it's not here not here. I mean this is. This is not something that's franchise should have to wrestle with. I do think you referenced atkins before. I do think one of the most interesting off season questions is do they move on from a guy who played a whopping seven snaps yesterday and they are roughly thirty million dollars to over the next two years. Do they move on tough. How do you not you have to start moving on from old bed players. You're your goal for the next. Three games should be to figure out who you on this roster that you can go with. It's not no atkins gino watkins. It's not going to be jay green next year them. We just we just let go of back in two thousand fifteen. They were good because for years. It seems like that's driven. The strategy gives them rewards player but andrew. Whitworth give your young lineman chance. Give some linebackers chanson and go from that. You have to figure out what you have. At some capacity because of all the whole we just mentioned in the last segment with the new england patriots cling to jeans seconds to about the current state of their team which is not great but would they cling to gino atkins. Because it used to be good a long time ago no or because. They felt like they owed him something with the pittsburgh. Steelers no with the baltimore ravens with lynn. The san francisco forty nine know what. Zack taylor's old teams. Move on move on from expense. Ami did it last year underperforming players. The dolphins were oh and seven and tanking moved on. Yes people what are they taking doing this publicly. Okay there now. Competing there in the playoff hunt. They went toe to toe with the chiefs. Like they're in a better position. I think there's a place in the nfl for jay green. I do on like a two year deal green bay or something. I don't know that there's a place in the nfl for gino acts

Buffalo Bills dominate Pittsburgh Steelers, join AFC's elite tier of teams

"Year, the Buffalo Bills find themselves victorious over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night Football this time, a 26 15 win four Buffalo at home. Under the home lights of Bill Stadium in Orchard Park. Josh Allen didn't get off to a great start for the bills. On the day, however, he finished the game with 238 passing yards and two touchdowns. One of those touchdown passes. The Stefan Diggs is he finished with a game high 10 receptions for 100 and 30 Yards, the other touchdown pass on the day going to rookie Gabriel Davis. Bills are now 10 and three on the season and have a chance to clinch a playoff berth tonight with the Ravens in that Brown's going at it. On Monday night football with a Ravens lost to the Browns that would give Buffalo a playoff berth in the bill's not quite ready to clinch the A F C East. Yet they could do that, though next week on Saturday with a win over the Denver Broncos coverage of bills

Bill Barnwell on NFL Week 14

"To one bill barnwell. We just watched the now. Ten and three bills beat the now eleven two steelers twenty six to fifteen and i am not certain of many things in this world anymore. But i am pretty certain. They're going to be a lot of babies named josh or in buffalo alone that people in buffalo are named. Ej drew rob tyron. We're all going to have to change their name to josh. Over the next few months bill barnwell host the bill barnwell show podcast. And you can find his indispensable. Nfl column on espn plus every monday. He's also never broken a table that we know of. They'll help me understand this. How did the buffalo bills turned things around after such a slow. Start on offense tonight. This was interesting because the slowest kinda out to these sort of exact start you would want right. I mean josh. Allen was struggling the steelers pass rush was in his face early and often does allen. Started this game seven of sixteen for thirty nine yards with an interception and a fumble alan of the gun. He's back late rush. Throws it down the left side line and it's intercepted that is a great offense was struggling on the side of the ball. It's fair to say but look like the steelers were josh allens head and maybe last year that would have been it. Josh allen never would have recovered this year is different. Josh allen is different and he has a weapon nobody can cover and the combination of allen and stefan digs took advantage of some rare mistakes and misplace. From the pittsburgh steelers allen's a hot stretch started really with the steelers tried to tackle digs on a third in three without hands which is hard. Alan took that playoff field for twenty three yards. And then he got going digs had two catches on plays. Were still defensive. Backs just fell down including a touchdown and now made one great throw against to coverage for a touchdown. Pass to gabriel davis. Cox's arm fires into the renzo caught buffalo touchdown bills. Gabriel davis caught a thirteen yard strike. And a second throw on the run of long pass interference penalty to dos knox. It seemed like the steelers might have figured out the third year quarterback but by the second half it was pretty clear things where the other way around so looking at the steelers now bill. I am curious what exactly has been solved with them because this is a team that went from undefeated not so long ago to losing two in a row now to washington and buffalo so based on what. You've seen these last two weeks. How worried should pittsburgh actually big. There's reasons for legitimate concern here. I mean the defense will the problem at the end of the day they all. The bills scored nineteen points. So i'm not stressed about the defense on the whole he's had some injuries that's going to be a legitimate concern but this is still a very good defense and they are prohibitive favorites still to win the afc north. But i think even before the last two games last two losses there were concerns about this offense. The steelers came into this game ranked thirtieth in rushing offense. Dvr a football outsiders efficiency statistic but roethlisberger was twenty ninth in the league in completion percentage on de passing becoming very erratic deep passer and the stairs basically happened left with an offense but almost exclusively consists of short passes trying to the ball. Out of rothlisberger hands quickly. That's help keep him healthy. Which is great but that offense has one explosive game. Since the start in november and sunday night was not the second we saw the offense struggle in the exact same ways even though they got james conner. They're starting running back back in the lineup. They lost multiple starting offensive linemen to run the seventeen times for forty seven yards. And we're at. The speaker tried to throw deep. He was one of five for nineteen yards with a touchdown and pick now. It's possible the steelers are tired after basically going fourteen weeks without a real by they've had their to buy weeks of course basically taken away due to covert concerns. Remember the one saving grace all year for the steelers. That's they were going. Undefeated was the possibility of getting that week off asks the number one seed in the afc. Now they fall fallen behind the chiefs with bosses in their past two games. The upshot only gives steelers in eight percent. Chance of coming away with the number one seed in the conference talked about last week. That's the only way to get a buy in the playoffs. At this point the stakes happened raised for the steelers. I'm not sure whether they're up to the challenge and it feels like it is only clear that the measuring stick against which all contenders are evaluated has to be kansas city and the chiefs spill. They seem to find themselves in some amount of danger on sunday. Only to escape narrowly against the dolphins and their young quarterback to and tug of lois. Oh after watching. Patrick mahomes ultimately win this game. Thirty three to twenty seven. How did miami put this biggest scare into the now twelve in one chiefs so i will. They did something that nobody has been able to do to the chiefs all season. That's forced takeaways. Patrick mahomes hasn't made any spectacular plays. Maybe this year. Has he did during that. Mvp season his first. Starting your twenty eighteen. But they've been really effective at avoiding. Take ways they haven't had one takeaway in any one given game until the dolphins game against the dolphins homes through to early interceptions to help the dolphins get out to attend. Nothing lead back to throw my extra fake look and dumped it down. Intercepted ball picked second interception up the day of patrick mahomes and while the chiefs runoff thirty consecutive points to go ahead. The dolphins strip mccall hardin inside the red zone to stop possession the second half and then saving howard picked off mahomes in the end zone for kansas city's fourth turnover of the game. Now i don't know if that's a sustainable formula for opposing team's doing from one turnover as a maximum to four. But they were able to get back into the game and the chiefs a genuine battle by forcing those takeaways from an offense. That just hasn't done that. Really aussies

Cleveland Browns to Face Baltimore Ravens in Monday night game

"There are a lot of big matchups. You have the Sunday night football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills. But Monday night football is no joke as we get the Baltimore Ravens going up against the Cleveland Browns, let's head to Cleveland right now to be joined by my God, she go Boram and she got you doing my friend. I'm doing well, but he ever you doing fantastic. Let's start here really impressive win for the Browns or last Sunday against Tennessee. How did they get out to that big lead the first half? I think it was a credit Torus Lee. You know Baker had the great first half, but I thought Kevin's too fancy. Um, you know, all week long. It was talked about, you know? Hey, they're going to establish the run and you know, awful play action. Hopefully be able to hit some passes downfield, and it was kind of those two teams gonna marry each other in that regard. But really, I mean Kevin's to fan ski, and he has been talking about it recently in the last few weeks. About how You know, Baker kind of the training wheels coming off a little bit and and kind of letting him let him go a little bit, And he clearly did that. In the first half, Baker found a rhythm. He was I mean, white hot. And, uh, you know, he just kept going and you know, they thought it was a great game pick plan, but I thought more importantly, it was about Kevin's too fancy, just trusting him and saying You know what? Go out, do it. You've got the talent and go get it done, And he did. It's funny because when you kind of hold it up against the last couple of weeks, because I remember at least my timeline with buzz, and I imagine yours was there was a wide open receiver in the Jacksonville game that he missed, and I'm sitting there thinking to myself. I'm like, how in the world does an NFL quarterback missed that play? You also had a Karim hunt coming underneath them. He could have could have dumped it off to him, and probably Both would have scored a touchdown. When you look at Baker Mayfield, would you say last Sunday is the best that he's played in the Browns uniforms. Yes, without a doubt. Um, you know, you said, uh, you know, second half furs that Bangles verse versus the Bangles. What was that week? Seven. I think it was He looked pretty good. Um, but I think this one coming right out of the gate. Hey, just seemed to be in such a rhythm. And you mean you saw him? It wasn't just dink and dunk. He was thrown passes downfield. Um, he kind of really caught Kind of sea and Mike Grable's de um by surprise. I think a little bit, but he's just You know, he seems to be a lot more comfortable parents and a lot more confident in the offense, which is what Kevin's defense Key had been saying, really since the midway point when they had their bye week. And I think last week we hope anyway was a sign of things to come. I mean, obviously, you know Tennessee's defense. Not what it was before, Uh, say last couple of years, but, um, you know, he did. He did a hell of a job. Now it's a matter of you know, you got Baltimore coming up on Monday. You still got another match up with the Steelers, and we all know what the Steelers did last time. Now it's okay. Can can Baker keep this thing going against two teams that have given him some issues this year alone, So hopefully that's gonna be that's gonna be the big the big thing for Baker. Mike, What's the feeling

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner activated off reserve/COVID-19 list

"Are your news and notes. James conner is off the lists the reserve covid list. He's at buffalo on sunday night. What's your level of confidence in james conner. Jamie isn't number two running back you know. I think we're gonna see the steelers try and get back to running the ball a little bit. Because they struggled in that regard and it's the aspect of their offense that's clearly missing aside from the drops but just in terms of their run game vs their past game. I think they'd like to take some pressure off of ben rothlisberger run the ball a little bit better and the fact that he's back after the last two weeks i'm sure there's gonna be a big boost for that offense so hopefully. It's a strong finish for james conner in this week. He's number back.

"pittsburgh. steelers" Discussed on ESPN Daily

"Are see. We are forced to listen to quarterback so often in the world of nfl analysis. So i just wanna thank you for helping lead. The db revolution espn daily. Why does this happen. You guys finally invited me or it's your time man your old team. The steelers are right now. Undefeated and that is surprising. Let's be honest to a lot of people. So how surprising is it though to you. I think it's it's. It's more surprising when you actually watch the games <hes>. It's obviously surprising. Anytime team goes through more than half of the season and their undefeated. But when you watch the steelers play the second half against tennessee titans even watching them to send the backup quarterback gets the denver broncos or be dominated upfront defensively the way they were against the baltimore ravens but still be undefeated. I think that's the fascinating part is not just that they've managed to win. Every game is just inside of those games. you seen opportunities for them to lose. But they've made the place that they've to. I mean you can even look at a match up against the dallas cowboys and say you know gary gilbert and the dallas cowboys may have deserve to win that game. But that's what this lied about was going to come down to one possession games. He's gonna come our critical situation though football moments and at least it does far. The steelers have found answers to any questions in those important moments. And this is why you sit undefeated. So how does this defense stack up. Ryan versus the steeler defense. Is that you played for that. You helped lead. What are the holes in this defense. You know what. I don't think they necessarily have holes in the sense of of those things being a negative right. He's looking to make a rush. The passer with just for the obviously can bring bring pressure make fitzpatrick ultimate playmaker on the back end and i think they have really good corners. But they don't have that great court but when you all those things together i think you get one of the top defense in the league especially when it comes to pressure and turning the ball over we. That's what football is right. Like people aren't going to hold you. Thirteen points like we did wait. Like that's not the ball we play it. You can't intimidate people like i would get fined and kicked out of every game. Five play james harrison fell six million dollars a year. You can't do those things anymore. But if you could get the ball which the pittsburgh steelers do know that really helps and that's why this team world season. Well i wanna get into the difference between playing football then versus now especially because offense is king these days as you implied right there so the defense is the big reason. The steelers are undefeated. The offense though i mean they've been relatively relatively average so can eighteen built around defense. Like the steelers are ryan. Can that sort of team win in the modern nfl. I believe they can. I believe they can. Because if you look at the individual weapons offensively like they are extremely. good <hes>. I think you you're missing that one running back piece but we look at pool. Smith schuster the johnson. Eric ebron like that's a skill set or skill position that a lot of teams would love to have especially teams not named became the city chiefs. And so if you can do all those things on the outside like they can. You can score points. Also look at this team at critical moments though. Think about tennessee. Titans having to get a drive late in the game even though been was a reception late like they were able to the ball greg band. There's gonna prevail on the road. The pittsburgh steelers had the hold on dearly man. Hold on they do for the baltimore. Ravens they score in the second half and they were able to do that then back pop. For the end zone touchdown pittsburgh and all the out cut to the chase. Claypool man play. It just seems that all the critical point of the season it's offense has been able to produce down to like. I said the dallas cowboy game last week obviously exploiting a very bad bengals defense and well in a team like the cat city chiefs right and i say okay. One had the baby stopped him have to limit big play. The pittsburgh steelers can do that with rush. Plays on the back end right. Play play man when they need to stop the big click now. Let's go offensively the only time we've ever seen patrick mahomes lose. He was in the playoffs. He was standing across from another super bowl. Winning quarterback that was tom brady and rothlisburger. Isn't tom brady but he can do. Some of those things in important moments. And we've seen of do those. And so i think this team can most certainly went into as you mentioned chase claypool his nickname if catching on with you but maple tron. He comes from canada. He's this guy. I didn't know anything about. I wonder if you did because he has seven touchdowns in his first nine games as a pro. What has he brought to this offense. I mean you look at what this league is turning into. Because of the lack of physicality it's a it's a size speed league right like it's starting to they used to be. It didn't matter what happened in the shorts olympics at the combine like if a fast it didn't necessarily mean it was going to translate do can do certain things there did me but it's starting to mean that at the wide receiver position because of the rules. Like if you could flat out run you're gonna probably get open because they can't hold you. You pass five yards. They can't hit you across the middle play putin critic who has great hands he tracks the ball. Well he has a big body and so when you have all those things just translate we've seen chase claypool. You know kind of come out of nowhere. They just kinda have a knack for finding people that sit what they want to do and utilizing them in a way. That truly helps the team chase. Claypool is just another example of that

"In the past the steelers did not play in a game against a deep plus opponent just a few weeks ago. The steelers almost lost to a to win dallas team. So as much as i would say they wouldn't play down. They did but they had just come off an emotional win against a tough baltimore team and a lot of people say the best teams are the teams that play the steelers right after they play baltimore. I'm pittsburgh penguins fan too. I remember times that they played the philadelphia flyers in seven game series. They beat the flyers but were so beat up afterwards. That is the equivalent of playing the baltimore ravens. And that's what happens when you play them. Afterwards you can think about this in a few weeks after the steelers. Play baltimore win or lose. It's going to be a tougher game than you would think against the washington football team because they are the very next opponent also in that dallas game. The steelers had little time to prepare for garrett gilbert at the quarterback position but look they're professionals. They should beat this team. The cowboys had so much pride invested in that particular game after listening and reading. Everybody predicting on how bad they were going to lose the pittsburgh. Look mike tomlin said it best. He said that the steelers are going to get everybody's best because they are undefeated. Everybody wants to knock the king from the mountaintop. I get it. I still believe that the majority of this team is at a higher level and the steelers can overcome adversity better than it did just a season or two ago that jags historically give the steelers fits and we'll do so again this weekend with the twenty twenty steelers don't care about point spreads or style. There are more concerned about wins. And that's how i feel about this special pittsburgh steelers team going up against a one win. Jacksonville team factor fiction number five. "Brian at davis. And another edition of pittsburgh steelers fact or fiction. Your pittsburgh steelers are not wanna know they are not four and five. They are not even eight. No the pittsburgh steelers are nine zero for the first time in their esteemed history and we're gonna see if that train could keep a role in this weekend in duval county. Yes it's jacksonville week. My friends week. Eleven is upon us. We're getting ready for thanksgiving. That's coming up. The steelers will play again only four days after that. Would you cannot look ahead to the baltimore ravens. You've got to think about jacksonville and this is the week to do. So but you know there's always so much to talk about when we're talking about pets berg steelers especially this week you know. They were down the week before they were down to dallas. They almost lost a dallas. A two in sixteen at the time. When they wiped off the sweat they came back and they won that game the very next week there could have been a letdown against a great rookie joe burrow and the cincinnati bengals and there was not they actually one in more dominating of fashion by the score of thirty six to ten so that is absolutely fantastic news. This team keeps on going. There is a possibility of a letdown. And we will talk about that against jacksonville. Let's go ahead and take a look and take a listen to some very bold statements regarding the pittsburgh steelers and we will go ahead and label them as fact or as fiction here we go should the steelers go sixteen. Though it doesn't guarantee a super bowl title fact that is an absolute fact. My friends only one. Nfl franchise in the super bowl era has finished nfl season with a perfect regular season record and have gone on to win the big game. Of course that was the famed one thousand nine hundred seventy two miami dolphins who went fourteen and no and finished at seventeen and ultimately and yes they have never let you forget that the new england patriots of two thousand seven came very close by going eight to know but they lost perfection in their final contest against the new york football giants the apprehension. Dolphins are the only team to win their first fourteen games to pick up the sticky lombardi to thirteen o teens. The two thousand nine new orleans saints and the chicago bears of nineteen eighty five. Went on to win the title but with that being said so many other teams that have finished above that have not won the title whatsoever so it seems if you could win fourteen games or thirteen games to start your nfl season. You've got that possibility if you win. Above that you have never won a title. So the pittsburgh steelers do not have to go sixteen in l. But they still have to stay really sharp because they have the kansas city chiefs right behind them. It's where you finish later factor fiction number two. The steelers absolutely have to get the running game going where they will not succeed in the play. Offs fiction yeah. I sat it fiction. Look i'm going to get some flack for this. I know it. But i don't think the establishment of a running game is that paramount to the steelers. It's important but can they win without it. Yes they're line is built more to protect the quarterback and thwart the advances of oncoming pass. Rushers it's true. They can run the ball and they did it very well. The first corps the season but the black and gold are realizing a lot of success on high percentage short passes. The bubble screens are working. And guys like juju smith schuster. Ray ray mcleod chase claypool. Diontae johnson and james washington are moving the chains successfully. It's not that you have bad running backs. Because james conner. Anthony mcfarland junior and benny snell. Junior have done and rebel jobs. This season especially connor but the holes are not opening for them right now. We talked about the concept of the bubble screen. That todd haley was for when he called the short game as an offensive coordinator. This is not a typical steelers offense. This year they have the speed of make this work and it will eventually open up opportunities when they do call a running plan. If defense do find a way to defend this method then they could switch back and get more to the ground but the bottom line remains that this offensive game plan is legit as hammer would say too legit to legitimate yet. Yeah it doesn't matter how the meals are prepared. It's just how good they taste right factor of fiction number three. You can't count on a mike hilton return until you see him on the field of play fact. I love the play of my kelton. I really do. He is an unsung hero. On the steelers defense. I also miss number twenty eight excellence against the run and the pass the undrafted free agent. Out of ole miss is one of the most underrated players to wear the black and gold this year in fact. He's nearly irreplaceable. On that defense but hilton has declared that he has been ready to return to the gridiron and play often this season while being injured only to suffer setback or to the steelers have been getting decent production from camp sutton in fact number twenty has played great but they need hilton back. This week mike is put on social media that he is back again. He's put everybody on notice that he's going to be playing against jacksonville but his shoulder injury has taken time to heal and he could be deemed not ready to play once again. Disappointing many hour. Wait until i see hilton and action. Until i'm comfortable and i still might not be completely comfortable factor fiction number four. The steelers will play down to jacksonville on sunday. We gotta go fiction on this one. In past seasons the steelers have been known to struggle against teams that they were favourite. Beat handily games against tampa back in two thousand fourteen. Remember the jets bears in two thousand seventeen and many more have resulted in losses..

"Be a great free agent fine fact. There was some hesitation regarding eric. Ebron ball security and his pension for landing on the injured reserve when he was picked up by the steelers back in march however the big tight end has had a remarkable first half for his third team. Now the pittsburgh steelers sure his catch numbers really. Don't come close to that of a travis kelsey or maybe george kittle but ebron is not relied upon as a first option for ben rothlisberger like those aforementioned players are for their quarterbacks however number eighty five has developed a great report with big ben and his twenty nine catches for two hundred eighty five yards and three scores has been valuable for the steelers. His last score was league game winner against dallas in the second half of twenty twenty. Expect an even bigger output from the combo of ben rothlisberger and eric ebron as they continue to gel together. Ebron is currently the third leading receiver on the pittsburgh steelers. But i look for ben to look for him so much more in the second half of the season so these next eight games should be exciting. The tight end record for touchdowns was set by heath miller in two thousand thirteen and that was with eight. I expect ebron with three right now to have maybe five to tie that record or six in the second half of the season now that he has had a lot of time with his quarterback are these statements valid. We will soon see. I'm not endorsing all of these. I'm not saying that all of these are absolutely going to happened. "Family for joining me today. you know. there's always so much talk when it comes to the pittsburgh steelers especially now because the inquiries our ever evolving when the steelers struggled last against dallas a to win dallas team. A lot of people started to get really worried with the steelers at eight and own. Now it's a record in. It's exciting but people were thinking now that this team is a lot weaker than their record suggests whether that be national media or pessimistic fans. It could be now with another to win team coming into pittsburgh this week. The cincinnati bengals. There are more concerns that the clock will soon strike midnight on this team and there are plenty of questions surrounding them as well when we have the covid. Nineteen situation with vance mcdonald. Everybody has wondering about that too. Ben has soreness in both of his knees from that injury suffered right before the end of the first half in dallas. Yes he could indeed use the rest i get. I also recognize that it would be favorable to get mason. Rudolph some much-needed reps but this would be a similar scenario to a pitcher tossing a perfect game in the final week of the major league baseball season and taking him out in the sixth inning to give him some rest. The steelers really need to find a way to keep winning and resting. Van in favor of rudolf could mean a loss in being overtaken by kansas city in the conference or by baltimore in the division since he has a hot young quarterback in the form joe burrow. And the two five and one bengals have a potential to be dangerous for pittsburgh. You need to have all hands on deck so in this situation. If ben is ready to go and you know ben is going to say he's ready to go. Then he needs to play factor. Fiction number. Two joe burrow is the best passer the steelers have faced so far in the year twenty twenty speaking of burrow he definitely the right guy to go number one overall to the cincinnati bengals in the twenty twenty. Nfl selection draft the heisman. Trophy winner from lsu has had one terrible game and those against baltimore if you're going to struggle as an nfl rookie. The ravens are likely to be the tormentors and the tough task. The steelers are two definitely that swarming steelers defense is going to be tough for this guy to overcome but burrow was the thirteenth ranked quarterback in the nfl according to pro football focus. And he's playing behind the twenty sixth ranked offensive line. Those guys are leading offensive players. Get to joe burrow like crazy and the steelers have a relentless pass rush but if burrow can be joe cole. The rookie has the potential to become the tiger king in the queen city as far as pastors go boroughs probably above carson wentz and a touch below ryan tannehill who the steelers faced this season. So he's not going to be the best that pittsburgh is seen so far but he will be soon enough. Watch out for joe burrow this weekend. He's going to throw some touchdown passes against the steelers. Defense factor fiction stefan to. It is having an all pro season fact. I actually think that the gigantic two it has moved ahead of cameron heyward for the top spot on the steelers defensive line but that does not diminish what cam heyward has done camps. Football intelligence and savvy are still valuable assets but to it is proving. His dominance number ninety one has taken down quarterbacks with six sacks so far in twenty twenty and has registered seventeen quarterback hits that is second in both categories on the pittsburgh steelers overall stefan ranks. Second in the nfl to t. J. watt in quarterback hits and tied for fourth in the conference in the nfl with bed do pre in sacks. That's something all pro voters really need to watch closely stuff onto. It is having a special season it needs to be in all pro. Season factor fiction number four. It's time to start worrying about. Chris boswell again fiction boswell. Had his first bad game in almost two years and people are really freaking out now. Sure he had an extra point blocked he missed another and technically missed a fifty four yard field goal but when you dig down deep. His line lapsed on the block and the field goal was really lucky to be wiped out by a penalty but after that deadball penalty wiped out the wide left. He not true in ice water. Fifty nine yarder to set a franchise record for the pittsburgh steelers. The previous record was by gerry. Anderson and chris brown who previously kicked fifty five yard field goals for the pittsburgh steelers officially on the season. Boswell is eleven for eleven on field goal attempts and twenty four for twenty seven when it comes to points after. He must one in the opener and he missed to the other day but is that reason to start worrying about him. Sure boswell is the fifth most accurate kicker in the nfl. His in with a eighty seven point nine percent field goal right but sometimes players can go on a slide quickly. I know steeler nation is having flashbacks to two thousand eighteen. But a lot of people need to remember even though it was not disclosed. That bad year was because boswell was hurt. If you look back to two thousand seventeen when boswell singlehandedly one games or maybe single footage only one game for the pittsburgh steelers and if you look to last year when he was nearly perfect as well. I don't think there's too much to fred about now. Maybe keep a watchful eye on chris boswell but once again he is more of an asset. Now more than ever for the steelers fact or fiction number five. Eric ebron is shaping up to.

"It's it's a shame for any step number seventy and that guy was a legendary coach for the. How many years did he coach for the cowboys to thirty. I mean it was like the whole tom. Landry i mean he was. He was pretty amazing From top to bottom. He's overshadowed in pittsburgh as well mean even though he's retired and the die hards no one. But i bet you. If i talk talk to some of the guys on the bts's network right now. They don't know that much about them. I mean i i missed. I missed here in pittsburgh as well but he was something i remember when he passed away and i believe that was about fifteen years ago. Now in two thousand and five. I had a chance to read more and learn more about them and the guy was an incredible presence For this team because the the pittsburgh steelers before nine hundred and sixty nine were not very good and he was. He was your legend. I encourage other younger fans to check out. Steiner's competed patriot. Can learn a lot. brian Before we go. The steelers are favored a thirteen. And a half points is generally the line depending on where you look if you are unaware again. I'm sure you listen to everything that beat the se puts at But i did mention. The cowboys are owen against the spread. This season do you. Do you think that holds. I know it's a big line. And i actually believe that is. The largest at any team has ever been favored on the road against the cowboys at the very least in the history of its nc state. I just think that the cowboys are snake. Bitten right now. And i really don't see garrett gilbert. I'm sorry i don't even know his name. It's care gilder. Garrett gilbert i know cooper rush gosh it could be. It could be getty lee from rush coming in her bradley cooper. These guys are having a hard time right now. and i. i really empathize. 'cause i felt over the last year i just i have picked against the steelers a lot. This year i picked against the last week picked against them. We get against the houston texans. I almost picked against them against philly. Just because i'm nervous about things. 'cause i've seen them play down to competition this year. I don't expect them this week. I don't expect them to play down to competition because of that mission that they're on. I really think. Mike tomlin doesn't care about spreads. He cares about the win if they win by six points. That's all he cares about. I kind of expect them to beat that. Spread not by too much. But i'm looking around thirty four to thirteen. I think the cowboys are are going to give them some fits here and there. But i just don't think they've got enough and i don't wanna pylon dallas because like i said i'm probably more pessimistic than most and i. I consider myself an optimist. But i just know that the steelers struggle in these areas but this team is a special team right now in there really on that mission and i don't think that i don't think gilbert's gonna be able to move now i I if it's any Any sort of warm warm hugs. One capizzi Warm you know at the time of the year. Maybe couple cider In your neck of the woods but So the cowboys dak prescott went down against the new york giants that that particular drive. They did finish with a touchdown outside of that drive from the end of the giants game to the cardinals game on monday. Night football the road game in washington and the road game in philadelphia. Last week they have one touchdown at side in terms of drives that have zero percent. Contribution dak prescott. They have one type came in garbage. Time against is on monday night football. So i would. I would still rather to come in What would the third and a half point line. I think i think it might get covered in twenty one point out in honestly You mentioned it. Which i think every couch appreciates the kind thoughts and and certainly Somebody who who routed on. Mason rudolph and redonda hijras It it is just that kind of year and so we'll see how the college respond. Hopefully the two thousand twenty four matchup between the two out in pittsburgh is a lot more fun to you. Ben is around for that. I'll ask now. You know. I really don't i think that's you know. He says he's going to be around. But how much longer can he really go. So i'm probably going to say no. You never know what's going to happen. But i just hope it's. It's both teams are up to strength because this stinks this year. I would rather see this being just a great matchup being worthy of that four twenty-five time zone with having nance and romo on there it's just because here's the thing about the. I don't hate the cowboys. I hate the eagles. I hate the giants. Don't hate the cowboys and giants. But it's a family thing the mirrors and the rooney's how can you hate the giant. I mean kate is hot. Yeah now it's just like well. I mean my my wife's nephew who's her ages Obnoxious giants fan is really made me eight the giants but i do. I do appreciate them for the the patriots twice in the super bowl so i thank them for that but right now i'm rooting for teams. Like the cowboys and yeah. I'm rooting for the washington. Football team as well because i live closer that area and i'd i'd love to see them do well but i wanna see dallas back to who they're supposed to be and i just watched super bowl thirty again the other day we do something called the steeler retro show and we aired it this week getting ready for this game and so you know next week we have the benefit. So there's going to be a bengals game. we just. We just recorded the bengals show so every week. The new the new opponent talk so much about twenty twenty. It's time to go back and and that's what we do so. I listened to that game and actually watch that game and i was like wow. This is the way it was and the the the cowboys were so much better than pittsburgh but pittsburgh hung on and had so many chances to win that game. What it was great to see to titans clash. And that's exactly what it was. So when i see the silver white and blue come in to play the black and gold i think about all those fantastic matchups in the cowboys. Lead the series thirteen eleven. And i think about how it's always going to be a game. Yeah now. I think that's well said It's a shame that this wasn't just you know. End on a somber note but it should have been a really fine game It should have been jimmy and bill cower Both kind of you know should've gotten like pre-game shot of them. You know in a suite with their gold jackets on like it had all of that momentum and obviously a lot of things changed Well brian we appreciate the time behind the curtain background. You guys have a fantastic podcast network all over youtube as well. You are on twitter at bt sc brad. Anything else. i missed than anything else. stood retro. Show me what else you guys got coming out as the students to stay undefeated well actually. I'm not trying to correct you. It's bad because davis go by go by bad on the network. Now i've got this persona. That i'm some kind of like wild dude. 'cause we talk about we. We have a phrase here and you mentioned winning ugly earlier. We talk about a two. Am game in. this could be to a get 'em game and the reason that's co two am game is you know you're in the bar two. Am your buddies of all hooked up and then all of a sudden you look around. She's not anything to write home about. But hey it's two am. I must be lonely so you could be a two. Am game here. So we have shows like tales from two. Am where we have a lot of fun. But what we're doing right now. We have no your enemy which you were fantastic on the other night. We do appreciate you coming on. We do that every wednesday to talk about. who's upcoming. "pittsburgh. steelers" Discussed on Behind the Steel Curtain

"Especially when the pittsburgh steelers are at seven and oh after winning a thriller over arch-rival baltimore last week they were down ten points in the second half. They came all the way back. It was a fantastic win with the steelers at seven and oh and facing three straight weeks of lesser competition with the black and gold remained focused or suffer a letdown. Bts's always trying to answer some of these. Poignant wondering ahead of time so take a listen to some bold statements on this and more as we label them as factor fiction. Because you know the narrative is always changing when it comes to your pittsburgh steelers. Will we be on point or will we be way off. Well it's free you decide. So let's check out pittsburgh steelers fact or fiction and remember like stephen king likes to say fiction is the truth inside the lie. Does that mean anything to you. It might we'll see here. We go fact or fiction. That trade for william sin signals a demotion for robert spelane. I'm going to say fiction. First and foremost this was a tremendous trade. I tell you tremendous. I don't care that williamson's considered a rental. It does not matter to me at all that the former jet titan is going to be a free agent after the season all that really matters is the steelers within at inside linebacker before devon bush. Junior went down and they're now even thinner with you three now on injured reserve. He's having back spasms again. You saw what those back spasms did to him last year. Wow they were so thin. They had to do something. So kevin colbert merely gave up draft position in twenty twenty two. He surrendered a fift- and got back a seventh for a tackling machine. You cannot be that. That is an excellent deal. The addition is huge due to the fact that it spells spelane at a spot. That wasn't meant to be three down situation. This guy wasn't playing playing on special teams and now you cannot expect him to go hundred percent of the place. You really can't so they needed to get somebody else in there and they got somebody else. That's really good if they lose them next year. Guess what they probably get a compensatory pick but that's next year we're looking at two thousand and twenty. This is a super bowl contender. This is a great deal. It's a great deal for this guy to avery. Williamson goes from an oh and eighteen to a seven ano- team just like that so it's amazing for him so spelane is unequivocally the starter. He's not getting replaced. He is just merely getting help. That's it. This is great for roberts bylane. It's great for avery williamson. It's great for the steelers. Playoff hopes the steelers super bowl hopes. And it's great for the steelers nation. So rejoice this trade and don't think way too much into the future on this one fact or fiction number two isaiah bugs. Alex smith and justin lane are making their cases to be future. Starters factor fiction. We are going to go. Fact in nineteen eighty-six ultimate one hit wonders. Tim buck three second. Well the future. So bright i gotta wear shades. Look i feel that way about the steelers defense and the future for this team. When bugs was pressed into action early on against baltimore he looked very green in the first half of action in the second. Half the six runner out of alabama looked black and gold in had two huge stops of lamar jackson in the second half just like bugs highsmith and lane look to be making their way towards the starting lineup with increased playing time and big plays highsmith had that huge interception. That helped the steelers win the game. They got on the board offensively in that second. Half that was really big. High smith is coming on strong lane. Looks really good in the secondary as well. You should see all three of these guys. Having their names amounts as they burst out of that heinz field tunnel in twenty twenty one factor fiction number. Three the steelers will have three players above ten sacks in twenty twenty fact. Tj watt leads. The steelers defense was six and a half sacks but when he can't get to the quarterback it seems like alvin. Duprey the one hovering over a fallen. Qb instead but has six opposite. what then. there's the mammoth stefan to it. The defensive player of the week steph onto it. You look well on his way to double digits last year before he went down in that los angeles chargers game for the entire season in week six this year the notre dame product even more dominant while he really does one of these. Three guys is going to lead the way in sacks the squad that breaks the team's all time mark. Yeah i say it. They are going to break that fifty six number. They are well on their way if all three continue their pace from the first seven games and stay injury-free. That's the rub. What will end the campaign with fifteen the dual of to it and do create will notch around fourteen apiece. It doesn't matter which leads the team as long as these guys are getting sacks in droves but they all will be above ten so once again fact back door fiction number. Four vance mcdonald has become a forgotten man in the pittsburgh offense fact. The man they call van animal has become the low man on the totem pole. When it comes to division of labor in the pittsburgh steelers offensive game plan of course it has definitely become a crowded receiver room in the steel city. Plus ben rothlisberger has got to be elated. That he has so many reliable targets to toss the ball but somebody is going to get the short end of the stick which is big bins and that.

"Right now, I'm going to say fiction would love to see Rosie next back in Pittsburgh steeler uniform, but that just does not seem to be likely at this time fact or fiction. The wide receiver position is the deepest that the steelers have had in years look here the wide receiving corps Ted of Juju Smith Schuster, deonte, Johnson Chase Klay poll, and James Washington is so deep they didn't. Miss a beat, Wendy Andre Johnson suffered a concussion the first half of week three against the Houston Texans would they weren't worried about the wide receiver core and the other pass catchers as well as the tight ends. You've got Vance McDonald. You've got Eric Iran in their Eric Ibrox really came alive in that game in. Vance had two key catches as well. y'All so so rewrite McLeod get some snaps and it was interesting because Ray Ray got those snaps even before Deontay. Johnson went down with that concussion. Well I kill your unit needs to have all of their men. Healthy others are really good at stepping up in any of their absent. The two thousand ten team had hines, Ward Mike Wallace Sanders Antwan, randle El Antonio. Brown at times was their fifth receiver. If you can believe that he was a rookie but that's how deep they were. Other units boasted is like Jericho Khatri Martavis Bryant Markus Wheaton even Darius Hayward Bay in the last few years but I think this is going to be a lineup. Of wide receivers that really gonNA rival any of those groups they might not be number one that I group that I mentioned the won the Super Bowl. Two, thousand ten might be number one right now with this is still a very good group. It could be argued that there are deeper units out there but the steelers are unselfish and strong here, and that's what those other teams didn't really have you an unselfish guys like Hines Ward in Antoine ran well, but then you had guys like Manny Sanders. The young money crew Manny Sanders Antonio Brown and Mike Wallace. So I'm really happy with this court at a wide receivers in a even the addition of number five of Ray McLeod. This is why I'm happy with this group. Because when you're leading receiver has under fifty yards on the day and they win, there's no threat to a gatorade cooler. There is no boycotting of practice the next day hint hint I'm talking to you Mr Brown. So look there's no egos on this team they are here for one stat and once that only and that is the W. And with this quartet, there's going to be plenty of WS. When you're playing unselfish fact or fiction speaking of Macleod, the speedster will break off a kick return for a touchdown in two thousand twenty. Friends. I'm saying it right here Ray Ray McLeod is electric. Now I know that he was onto other teams in his young NFL career I know he was a member of the Carolina Panthers a member of the Buffalo Bills. The rap on McLeod has never been his speed, but it's been his ball handling skills. You know that's going to be a concern with a lot of speedsters, but here's the thing with Ray Ray McLeod, he's a threat to go the distance every time he touches the ball really seems inevitable that. Number fourteen going to go all the way on one of these kickoffs currently McLeod is tied for fourth in the League with a twenty, eight point eight average per return I can't remember the last time. The Pittsburgh steelers were the top ten on return average as far as kick returns a lot lately with Ryan Switzer was there. You had a situation where he was a very short handed guy, but he wasn't going to get a lot of yards as far as that goes Markus Wheaton as well. Many included myself. Think it's Time that Ray is going to reach the end zone you throw in the fact that Ray Ray is also very good at filling in at punt returner Wendy. Andre Johnson went down you've got an electric group. You've got the Johnson and Ray Macleod back there on special teams. Somebody's GONNA break. One we saw Johnson do it last year I think McLeod's GonNa do it this year you might have both of them do it this year, but it's really encouraging to know that the kick return is back in the steel city fact or fiction the steelers will break the shrew all-time consecutive sack gastric the season. Okay. Look here's the deal the reason I say true all-time consecutive sack streak. Because we didn't start talking about sacs officially as a stat since nineteen eighty two. So when you look at the steelers all time list, it's true the all time leader, James Harrison he's got eighty point five. Now number two is Jason Gilded that is true as well. But for the longest time, the unofficial sack leader for the Pittsburgh steelers was who is at number three and that's Elsie Greenwood. The reason he is the unofficial leader is because he retired in nineteen eighty-one they didn't start counting sacks until nineteen, eighty two as an official stat. So what? You're looking at here for him. He has compiled that number of stats and at unofficial number, but it's one that they are the NFL was holding true to. So if you look at the number of sacks, that is the record that is held by the Tampa Bay buccaneers, they recorded sixty nine sacks. Excuse me sixty nine straight games of saxe but BTS's stat. Allah. Just Dave Scofield, took a look at this and he is reporting that the Detroit lions are actually the true sack streak leaders seventy six straight contests from nineteen, sixty to nineteen, sixty five. Look. The steelers right now are at sixty one game while they have the defensive firepower, they're likely to surpass the buccaneers this year for the official mark, they would have to go through full season, basically sixteen more games to have the record on their own I think. That, mark in two, thousand, twenty one but I think they're going to have the official record in two thousand twenty but you know Pittsburgh steeler team is more than capable of getting that record. And they're also more than capable of getting the unofficial record as well, which is a feather in their cap it you know they would love love.

Ray Ray McLeod Pittsburgh steelers Wendy Andre Johnson Ray Ray Manny Sanders Antonio Brown Ray Macleod Vance McDonald Pittsburgh Hines Ward NFL official Jericho Khatri Martavis Bryant Manny Sanders Houston Texans Juju Smith Schuster Rosie Ward Mike Wallace Sanders Antw Eric Iran Tampa Bay buccaneers

"pittsburgh. steelers" Discussed on Behind the Steel Curtain

"Pittsburgh. Steeler fans welcome to another addition in the family of podcast from behind the still curtain. My name is Brian Anthony Davis and you have stumbled upon Pittsburgh steelers fact or fiction fact the Pittsburgh steelers do not have a game in week four Duda Covid nineteen and the Tennessee titans having eighteen staffers players testing positive for the virus. This is a big deal We do pray for those players in those staffers get well soon, the NFL is now investigating Tennessee to see if there's any negligence involving the outbreak and so that's something that they're going to be looking at. But here let's just look at it this. Way The steelers are now going to be playing in week seven now thereby week is now it's an impromptu by week but fact these players couldn't go home and go anywhere. They couldn't go on vacation with their families during the bye week because they have to test every day. So this is a new world we find us in twenty twenty fiction. The steelers are going to be at a disadvantage because of having the play all of those games in a row, they're going to have to play thirteen games in a row. Go back to two thousand one with the Pittsburgh steelers when unfortunately the steelers and the nation. Could not play at all in week two because of the tragedies of September eleventh. You remember that from eighteen years ago while there was something else going on as well as that for the Pittsburgh steelers, there's only thirty one teams at the time. Two years removed from the Cleveland browns becoming team number thirty, one and one year away. From the Houston Texans becoming t number thirty two. So they played week one September ninth. There was a loss in Jacksonville. The steelers did not play their second game of two thousand one. Until get this September thirtieth. It was basically a three week by Pittsburgh steelers but with the bye week, just coming that week that a lot of time. Did they suffer from it absolutely not that's dealer team led by Kordell, Stewart Jerome Bettis and a suffocating defense. They went thirteen and three that year think about this. They lost the first game of the season. so they ended up playing seventeen straight games. To end that season by the time they were done and they had a fantastic year. So a lot of people that are saying right now that the steelers are going to suffer because of having the. Play thirteen games in a row now. Now, that's that's not a problem. These players don't worry about that whatsoever. So what we are looking at is factor fiction. This was the first podcast I ever did for behind the still curtain way back in two thousand, Sixteen Zach Parnes and myself would do factor fiction every week and it was like I said it was my first ever bts's podcast really my first ever podcast we did that on blog talk radio back then it was a lot of fun. I have evolved ever since into the podcast or that I am now. So it's a complete different story. There's always going to be something to talk about with Pittsburgh steelers and quote my good friend Rowdy Roddy Piper now look we were never. I've never met Rowdy Roddy Piper but I like to think that if we had met each other that we would have been good buddies. So I'm going to call my good friend and we quote every week. Tony Fiona I do on the steelers hangover in steelers question and answer Rowdy Roddy Piper used to say just when you think you've got all the answers we keep changing the questions when it comes to the Pittsburgh steelers. There's always questions there's always going to be different answers. and. There's always going to be wondering and that's what factor fiction is all about. So I'm going to think five pack of questions and we're going to go ahead and talk about that. Now to see whether I deem them as factor fiction and that's something that you could agree with or disagree with whatever you may choose factor fiction number one with Derek Watt out two to three weeks, the steelers are likely to bring back Roosevelt Knicks Rosie Nix was a great player for the Pittsburgh steelers he. Was a pro bowl fullback in two thousand, eighteen fan favourite as well. But when he went down for most of last season, the running game really suffered he was not healthy. The team ended up cutting him in the off season and he signed on with the Indianapolis Colts. However, Rosie did not make Frank Greg's fifty three man roster. What are the reasons being is because indy was more of a one back offense not a to back offense and they really couldn't find room for him. Frank Reich was. Quoted as saying that you know, we think Rosie's a great player we would have loved to keep them. So when Derek Watt went down last week against the Houston. Texans and was deemed to be out two to three weeks. Rosie Nix was on the radar of a lot of fans saying, Hey, they should bring back Rosie next. Look. I. Don't think this is going to happen. So I'm going to say fiction to this, and the reason I'm going to say fiction if it was a season ending injury. That would be more likely. So if what was going to be down for the rest of the year, they might have went and explored that with am Trey edmunds on the practice squad trey Edmunds has done a lot as far as a practicing at fullback clang fullback. He did it quite a bit when Rosie one town in two, thousand and nineteen. So that's probably the direction that they're going to go and right now they know that Derek what is going to be back they said two to three. Weeks, and with the Titan game being down, that's one less game that Derek, what's going to miss as well..

Well Yeah you can't. Okay. And then we have the social unrest of the nation being thrown into. A sporting. Venues. that. For All intents purposes let's call it. What is it's an escape. It allows us the viewer. Fan. That three four hours. Sunday evening Monday night whatever that. It gives us that escape from eager live love get up go to work and deal with people you come home you deal with cranky wife and kids don't listen dog that Shit's in your shoes. You've taken that away. And now have made it. Well we got to get on board with this. Well, we're relevant to. We're a large. Organization we goner? A multitude of platforms. That we have viewership. There any given? Day that we have competition So now we're going to. Paint messages in the end. We're going to have. Athletes will we're going to kneel to show solidarity. I got a huge problem with that and for our listeners I'm sure you have your own platforms as well. The American flag comes I stand for Gore country you back your country everything else second berry period. That's my thought on that. That's the way it is. Unfortunately when. The NFL NBA MLB hockey underwater basket weaving has become politicized in what we have to show solidarity with this. I have a question. Are you showing solidarity four? Message. Or are you As the NFL did let's put. The name of a known fell one on a helmet. Let's. Let's praise this guy because shot back when a an. Amplifier point in accused rapists. Is someone with a warning active warrants? For Rape Yes. So here in my eternal gripe with this, that will probably go down in flames just like the rest of them. Why are we? In fact. Standing behind. Someone. WHO BREAKS THE LAW? WHO does walk. Yes. They didn't listen. They got shot in the back whatever. House we say. Extenuating circumstances came to be that this ended up how that was. We have to stand behind this person as a form of. Instead of. Waiting, for all the facts that come out be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. And then move forward from there. Well. That's the real question. Isn't it is is you know? All we've seen is what has been allowed to be released. Okay I mean look I think in his thing I agree with everything you just said save one thing. Okay. I don't think demand deserve to be shot seven times point blank in the back now. Having said that. He has an active warrant for his arrest, what he should not have done to prevent that whole situation was to surrender. Get handcuffed and be taken into to engage whatever process there is. Okay, you don't fight cops in the street if you do. You mess with the bull, you get the horns. Okay. He's admitted he was armed. He's admitted he was going for a different arm- armament. Okay. And what do we expect the COPS to die? I don't think so you know I'm. In the eyes of them, that's probably what they're saying. Well. Preserved by life fuck yours. Well exactly. The COP Exactly and and my my attitude would be y is either one wrong as far as you know, one one has a duty to behave professionally the other has a duty to follow the law. Or face the consequences you know it would have saved him from getting shot in the back if he had stopped if he turned around if he'd Toronto. Surrendered Okay Understand that I understand the Warren has has since been vacated, but that's beside the point. When a COP's his I warrant for your arrest I mean you're supposed to do is say what am I being arrested for? Okay I'll go peacefully ears might whereas my lawyer yeah. Instead, of no fuck you fight you tooth and nail, and if get away up the war still there, but you don't have me. Right. Exactly. Exactly and you know I got I got I got a I. got a interject because you know. My personal opinion is if you probably agree Is this. Cancer of case. started. It may have it may have had other sources. Okay. But its primary. Protagonist, in growth factor was Colin. Kaepernick a few years ago and I don't say that in a flattering manner. Okay. I've said it before the my opinion that Colin Kaepernick is the biggest fraud on the planet as pertains to the NFL. At least Ryan leaves when he signed what Leash Langley, when he signed, he knew he was shit approved the wish she had any faded off politely into the sunset because he saw a gay. young just tell the story as I. Recall it and you you you feel free to chime in when you. When when you when you if I'm off base okay. A lot of people don't remember this but you and I as King's football and many things in life have a have a memory quite a bit longer than than your average goldfish. Okay? I remember watching the first incidents of Cabernet court on code kneeling and he wasn't fucking Neil. He had just had an argument with his with with the head coach and I don't think it was Kelly. It may have been horrible. But he had the yard, the head, the argument with Joe it was horrible wasn't horrible yet. So out of you probably saw the clip to you can't find it now because it's Youtube everywhere else. He had he had A. Verbal altercation with Harbhajan and I can only assume in what we were told. You know later was that harbaugh. told him. No you're not starting a colon Cabernet got very unprofessional and like the diva quarterback that he is. Turn Turnhill stomped over to the bench slammed his helmet down in plop disaster down on the bench now by sheer and toll coincidence. Anthem had just started. The anthem it just started when that HAP-. ACI. I know you remember this is I think you and I talked about this at the time that it happened because we were mocking him because when I weren't weren't quarterbacks when we played the game and we know what divas they are even princesses, they are this. If you remember and I know you do espn headlines a couple of days. Later words were that Colin Kaepernick was going to be fine. Substantially for multiple instances of unprofessional conduct conduct deleterious to the team. Leading up to the altercation with harbaugh that happened where he plops his ass on the bench you remember that ideas that. Dakhla and it was it was post practice I. Believe I want a That later that week that a reporter asked him. About the state of the fines and Based on his lip based on. Let's just call it what it was temper Tantrum. Okay. And that's when Cabernet sold all this bullshit about he was doing it in protest etcetera etcetera and he played the race card, which we all know the press eats up hook line and sinker and never ever questioned. Ever On. Me It came across and partner Jackie No, you're good. The the instance of which we are discussing out my first thought on that was yes it's a temper tantrum and I'm about to be busted for having a temper tantrum. So allow me to make up some juicy. To Garner more attention to the fact that. This is happening to be Gimme Gimme. GimMe and I lost my starting spot. Well, that's the that's the point I'm making. He played the race card to avoid fight. For on professional conduct and he was he was outright given a past. I don't think he ever actually even actually got find something that was overlooked too is that is that nick is not a person of color is really not us he is a multi-racial okay and part of that find that he was going to get for unprofessional conduct was calling somebody else on the field the N. Word back can't say here because quite frankly it's feds even and number two I don't WanNa get show you monetize but that said that was part of that that was part of the fine to be levied. The fine was vacated. Okay. Because he was successful, you successfully played the race card and got out. Okay and this whole shift started this snowball at that point. as we as we all know you know he was he was basically the the the face man for chip. Kelly's offense that you know while short term short term effective was absolutely not sustainable. Okay. We all know that. And you combine that with the fact that the guy had. Just over just under a shooting just over sixty percent for completion rate. Even in that offense at his best day, he was a mediocre quarterback surrounded by a bunch of very talented people. Okay. So now it has become the fact that you know this whole narrative has has escalated by people that that know nothing about the actual game because. Football is simple. It's not easy, but it's simple. Is. The ultimate meritocracy. Okay talent hard work equals success. Okay there's a lot of guys. We can probably point him out on the field you and I. There's a lot of guys that that. That just simply outworked their competition to get where they are I'll give you. I'll give you one prime example and right now they call him the goat Tom. De. Tom. Brady was drafted was I can remember he was drafted. He was I. Don't think he was Mr irrelevant. But he was real close. He was the very bottom. Yes. Six he was very close to the very end of end of the draft in and he is he outworked is is competition. Now granted drew bledsoe. If people can remember back set for was not a very good quarterback anyways. He was only borderline better than Ryan Leaf and he went down Tom Brady took over in the rest as they say district but. No? One ever questioned, Tom? Brady's work ethic in those dynasty years in in in New England. Okay. Because he outworked he, he worked his ass off. Yes he was talented. Yes. He's physically gifted but that plus hardwork dedication to his craft turned into in the in the the hardware for the hand so to speak. and. anyways back to my point about Cabernet. All, these people talking about how Catherine doesn't have a job because he's bad for business or half rights, they're only half rice. Now I posted this to the page I know you read you probably it is I. Think I read this week we went to this is from ESPN DOT COM itself. Okay. ESPN DOT. com. The actual date this was published as March twentieth two, thousand seventeen. By their staff writer Kevin Seaford. and. I am just going to read it. I'm. GonNa. I'M GONNA. Try to read the whole thing. I'm trying Doug only try to read the parts that are relevant. But those those listening. If you go to our face, a bitch facebook dot com slash midnight patriots. You'll be able to find this article and we shared it the title of it is calling Kabir Knicks based problem performance. Politics. Day It starts off real simple. So Don't over think why Colin Kaepernick is still a free age simply put years have passed since he was ineffective quarterback he's twenty nine years old has succeeded in an unsustainable scheme as part of a well populated group of former starters who also remain available at as this week began now getting that was march twenty, twenty, seventeen. So they were in free agents. Okay. Let's. Let's move on here. It's blamed Colin Kaepernick's unemployment on his protest is to misread the way NFL teams make personnel decisions. that. I don't think there's any more true statement on Earth. Do you I? MEAN THAT'S Yeah. So it goes on protests where does say at any type of business that if you have lackluster performance, did you are guaranteed two hundred million dollar job? Number One and two I was GONNA say there have been divas troublemakers in the NFL before? Okay and Kim's and? Lewis Terrell on. You know. List goes on and on. And let's not forget the NFL is the lead cut an outright banned ray rice running back from the Ravens for domestic violence. Okay. Before he was convicted. Suspended A. Peterson for disciplining his child. Yeah for banking hit saw. Yeah. Okay for spanking his own child. Okay. So now they put criminals names on their helmet. so by but I digress I digress let's get back to the article. Just to just to go just to go. Teams are swayed I by players potential or lack thereof to help them win protest or not kapernick would be under contract. Now, if he had demonstrable if he had played demonstrably better in recent years. Let's look closer at where capper nick is as a quarterback and why that has left him sitting in a group that also includes fellow free agents, Jay Cutler Josh mccown Ryan Fitzpatrick and Robert Griffin the third. Again keep in mind. This is from shelvin teachings of this is three years ago. Okay. But. It goes on to some of the reason I liked this 'cause this is based on facts not just you know a bunch of race baiting bullshit. Kapernick grid NFL success came as part of the San Francisco Forty niners read Options Skiing Twenty, twelve to twenty four. In those three years, he rushed for Fifteen, hundred, seventy, eight yards which okay. I will give credit that impressive gudgeon impressive number. For. More than any other quarterback with the exception of Rush Russell Wilson Cam Newton so let's just call it what it is. He was third rushing quarterback against. It breath. Okay. I will not fall the net. His. Success. He threw more than twice as many touchdown passes interceptions helped him compile eighth best time quarterback rating in the NFL seventy point to over that period. But even then capper nick was one of the lease most. Least Accurate quarterbacks is sixty point one completion percentage ranked twenty third in the NFL and has percentage of off target throws judged on video by espn stats and information ranked eighteen. So. Based on just the stats alone he was a middle of the pack quarterback middle of the pack. Does that mean that he's better than half the other guys absolutely does that mean that that you know the drama he brings? Outweighs his skills is still setting the money in the monetary investment probably. Okay I agree or disagree just on that statement there. I would agree that yeah, he's a middle of the road quarterback. He had some skill. At. That position. That offense. You're right. Would it work somewhere else probably not but that's Changing teams, you learned their offensive scheme you learn what they do best blend yourself into that and you become part of the team not a one man show. that. I, mean you'd have to agree that most had coaches that have half a brain would go sixty, four, sixty point one completion percentage. even if you're even if you're going to do A. A bootleg offense even if you're going to do a boot offense. Play I can. Still going to have to be better than sixty point one. Periods I mean just entered discussion. Quarter, you're talking college level quarterback. Even if you're on a naked, do either one side, you're still depending on receivers tied ends backs to be open at some point that you can actually say, Hey, he's opened easel bewitched of the two weevils need a cheese her who exactly exactly union able to identify and hit those targets or at least give your guys in a position to succeed you know. I'd like to. Bring to Light I. Not Very long after capital started his quest masqueraded by some of justice whatever you WANNA call it only because he got in my mind and correct me if I'm wrong, he got busted out period. That's just the way it is you through Tantrum he got his ass busted will now I gotta cover with this to cover that with this, and then all of a sudden we have one big lie that snowball into the entire solstice thing that's going on currently. You're. Going to look they had to go. He ended up in Washington. In front of US rest. Explaining his side of everything that goes on great. Denver Broncos of whom I am a fan. I it. Does not get into that because. Pirate about that right. That's ultimate digression. Go ahead, John. elway. It had in fact offer Catholic before your contract. said. Hey. COMPLA-. Can come down because it wasn't enough money. Wait a minute. Let's look at your stats a sixty sixty point something or other completion percentage. Yes. You had fifteen hundred yards rushing, which as we've discussed is pretty phenomenal quarterback save. Russell. Cam. Newton. Maybe rg three hundred healthy. That's stretching it buttle throw it in there. Anyway. I. Really. Wanted to see if capital could be plugged into that offense and sell. Well, that's the that's the real trick. Isn't it? I mean? End and let's be clear. He turned it down because the salary was too low, not the money. Or maybe remember correctly, he turned it down because John elway wanted to load the one at the loaded up with incentives and say, okay, you exceed this mark you get ex you this you get what we go to the playoffs and when you get Z. Experience Cetera so wasn't of excellent. Yeah. But exactly to perform at your very best as cut your in the NFL, they don't take ship nothing while the that's when the NFL stands for not for lofts. That and let's be honest. It was not only. Did he had he had to meet performance criteria he had to me behavior criteria, EXAC? elway and the broncos weren't going to stand for this s J. W. S. J. W. Crap. That he's pulling. So let's go back to the article real quick. It'll it'll. It'll really start driving the point home. Okay. So I believe he started kneeling rating was two fifteen. So. Article Goes On. The issues that we were just talking about the increasing. Or decreasing completion percentage decreasing accuracy except sets. Those issues intensified in Twenty fifteen and twenty sixteen amid forty nine ers. Coaching turmoil in talent drain since the start of the twenty fifth season Kapernick ranks get this. Last in the NFL thirty five all five passers in off target percentage is off target twenty, two point six percent of the time which when she is the least accurate quarterback in the. League. As of the twenty. Fifteen. It goes on. Is Complete. Complete is completion percentage ranks number thirty, two at fifty, nine point one. He was still one of the NFL's most productive Shink quarterbacks, ranking number four total yardage over all those years but it didn't mitigate his passing deterioration and this is in my mind. This is the absolute most important line in the yard or ear and an adult. There is no more important attribute for quarterback accuracy especially for a free agent who is shopping himself teams with various schemes. In, the long term a quarterbacks running ability is considered a complimentary skill and one that is story. Fade with age or because of injuries, scrambling ability and arms drank are secondary to whether you can hit the target. That analysis backed up by numbers essentially wreck stay shit out of this current narrative will Cohen Governor never draw. Back. Dinners. Any beds no sorry. Have a fucking job because he sucks. Sex At what he does also, there's a theory going around the going around that it was right about twenty, nine, hundred he met his I don't know if she's still has girlfriend whatever evidently these ideas about radical justice one I'd ever definitely his girlfriend is, is some sort of radical s j w as well, and he was too stupid to either a lever to the side or be not listen door and just agree to disagree on stuff but then again. Go ahead exactly what it is. Power Pussy with exactly exactly and you quite frankly I can't fault them for that because you know that's ninety percent of marriages happen. We'll just we'll just leave at this point. Is that right there? That's You were saying regarding his ability to suck. But it started then I mean he the guy the guy got lazy. He got loud. Through the race card to cover his shit then he couldn't back up his mouth with performance. You know do you your ears? Rocco's fat okay. Let's talk about just a second. Let's talk about Shannon Sharpe just for ten seconds or for a few seconds. Okay. Shannon Sharpe. Is An arrogant prick agree or disagree now When I hang on, hang on that said. Shannon Sharpe liked to run his mouth about a lot of stuff at a lot of different times also true. Yes. Yes. Shannon Sharpe never failed toback his mouth up with his physical actions on field. Also. True. Unless I'm Clinton mistake, it have you seen the. I know he's A. He's a beast. His and by that, I, mean his physique and his skill level we're just unprecedented but you know I do I think running your mouth there's unprofessional Mind that you buy then back it up on the field nut so much. I mean. Go ahead. If I if I remember correctly now, remember this because there is significant events happened in my life sixteen nineteen. broncos are in the midst of the run to Super Bowl thirty two. Tonight game. In Kansas City in Kansas. City. I can remember. Watching a few days later because of recovering from surgery on. Shannon. Sharpe was literally being drug halfway across the field for most of the game by his helmet because he was talking some serious Shit Oh. Yeah. I. Remember Correctly Dr Thomas. If. If I get an incorrect Thomas Yeah. So. So pissed off the guy, he knocking, Kane insane composure in his professionalism in the game. You got what? I think. Say He lit it up. He was like Yeah. That's ten to twelve for. The Gargantuan One, twenty, one, twenty, six, and what two touchdowns. Yeah he was a month. So. All of a sudden sanders our. Love the Guy I've actually met him. Helvin individual. Love Tall. But he can copious amounts of Shit Oh. Yeah. Oh yeah that that man can back his mouth up. Oh Yeah. We have an and. He. End Let's let's break that down from an NFL perspective. So I'm a personnel manager. Okay and I have Shannon Sharpe as a free agent. His name comes across the wire I go holy Fuck Ball sharps available, and I already know that a he's allowed mouth be he likes to talk shit and sees extremely opinionated man but D-. The Guy Backs should have on the field I picked up the phone. I pick up the phone and say Hello Mr Shannon. Trump's lawyer her agent. This is me at the I would like to pay your your plant, a lot of money obscene amount of money to come help us when football game sets. Ended up with the. Exactly for whatever he was with the Ravens what three years. Say but he wanted them for four super bowl with their to. The argument that Colin Kaepernick doesn't have a job because Hashtag grace is complete an utter bullshit. Bullshit and the the fact that Roger Goodell has bought into this Shit Hook Line and sinker is even worse. Okay. You would think that that to be the commissioner of of a National League or National Professional Sports League that race in what eight to ten billion dollars. A year in gross revenue. You have. You'd have to have an IQ above your shoe size. Goodell even that these people that that they're they're professing to support. Social Justice. Wise. He realized that the vast majority of them do not watch the Games couldn't tell you five players in the league and doesn't even know couldn't name five teams lot I mean. She probably I mean. Look at some of the fan base. Did Not tell you the difference three, four, three defense. Yeah don't try to get him to describe the Tampa to. Exactly or various offensive formation. You're the simultaneous simultaneous possession roll which you and I can quote by heart understand completely. Exactly. Our guys we've got another segment coming up right after this brief break. Stay tuned. Midnight Patriot nations spartan with a shameless plug for our new gear shop shop. Dot. MIDNIGHT PATRIOTS DOT COM. T shirts, hats, hoodies, mugs, phone cases, and just about everything else in between we got you covered whether you're looking to embrace your insomnia, show your patriotism or make a liberals headaches blowed. Really, Shop Dot Midnight Patriots, Dot Com, and now back to the show. You know that's that said. I made a prediction in in midnight moment the last night moment and I want to run around wanted to run that by. Not. Only understand that the business portion of the of the game, but also the game itself. So this is going to the business portion now. One. Of the things that you and I both know is that owners very rarely. SAY WHAT THEY THINK Or say or reveal their plans in advance. Okay. I've noticed that the owners have remained. Suspiciously quiet. About the social justice campaign that's currently going on I do disagree with that. I mean like I said, I think Jerry Jones is really the only one that's actually made any sort of statement and it wasn't a very long. I ever Jones ever quiet. What that's that's my point. And say instead of instead of. Me thinks he protests too much. Me think she says nothing for more sinister Okay so I wanted to run this by this is my theory. Okay. Now we've confirmed the the the Monday night compal atrocity from last night. US. Or Susani from two nights ago that. We've confirmed that the viewership was down approximately twenty nine percent. Across the board in that double header. So if we take the two games Monday and the overall ratings of of being down for Sunday you're talking an average of of a twenty percent downer. It's one fifth of the audience of the television audience told the NFL the PISS off. Okay. Considering the the significant financial investment ESPN has for for the right. To. Monday night football. Let's just let's just call that loss unsustainable. Okay. So I am going to ask you to engage your owner brain for just a minute. Okay. So We're GONNA fast forward to the week after the Super Bowl's okay where things are notably notably quite Rosalie quiet. The coaching carousel began and things like that since. Day. Except that, there's going to be a rumor. Going to be a rumor. That the NFL that the owners are considering locking out the players because they want to renegotiate the contracts. And this will come as a surprise to dumb asses in the AT ESPN released. They're going to feign surprise. Okay. And we're going to start hearing things like while the coaches are not gonNa make anymore are putting hiring decisions are the owners are going to. Put a hiring decisions on pause for just We're going to review a few things and Blah Blah Blah. While then we're going to get to Russia's started free agency. And we'RE GONNA. Find out and it's probably going to be one of the one of the What's The guy's name? Remember his name. One of the reporters Schefter Adam schefter because he always breaks up he's. Probably. GonNa be schefter becomes. We have confirmed reports, the owners who are going to lock out the players affected nine am tomorrow or whatever. Okay. Now what's going to end up happening is this. The overall I would say, the overall revenue is going to decline somewhere in the area of twenty percent across the before the Lee across the. Across the season. Okay. Now again does just a prediction it might be higher. I hope it's higher until they stop dish this personally but. This is what's going to happen. You're going to get a massive ratings ratings cut. Even in the Super Bowl. Which means revenue is going to be down roughly thirty percents. Okay. What they're gonNA say is this is an unprecedented drop in revenue and the the losses are unsustainable. They're going to have to renegotiate the contracts. The players are GONNA have to take less money and this time the the ownership is going to be able to show concrete. The because of the drop in television revenue in Jersey sales and everything else. That they're going to have to renegotiate the contract. They're going to vote on removing Goodell as the commission. You're actually they're gonNA, they're gonNA end up forcing him out but the way it's GonNa play out this players are to get locked out. There's going to be a review of the deal of the of the current Labor Labor Agreement. The new agreement is GONNA. Have a significantly lower. Revenue Pool total that that the players are going to get. And they're going to have conduct they're going to have enhanced conduct policy which include the jewel stand for the national anthem. You will not hiding locker room for it. And you're going to we're going to not endorse anyone as far as any sort of political failure, your ideology on the field, and if you do not only will your contract be terminated but you'll be you'll be on the breadline by your suspended for a year. Now maybe the suspended for year won't come to pass but. Engage your own our brain for just a second and then look at the strike years that came up and you tell me how how how. Or how far I'll fight on that. Will. Allow me to. Dive into this plan I mean. Here we go. I am an owner of a NFL team. Meaning I have had to. Put Out. Let's use an arbitrary figure five hundred million dollars cash right upfront. Chooses five hundred. Half a billion. Cool. I'm. Glad. Yeah. Five hundred million dollars up front in order to gain my team have somewhere to play. The voted on passed and approved by the NFL. As either an expansion team whatever then. To, Cherry pick the other teams around here so I can build my team. In hopes that a I get a return on investment. That said if I'm going to dump five, hundred, million dollars out. A team equipment place play contracts that are stretched for X. number of years. This mice guaranteed this much at a signing bonus this much. Not. including the money paid to the team from the NFL for reaching a wildcard round, a divisional round championship round, and ultimately the Super Bowl. There are incentives paid to the teams by the NFL for attaining postseason plum. Yeah So that said with everything that goes on here. Currently we're martyring. Convicted felons we are. Using the NFL. As a soapbox. As an owner. would. Say? Okay. I can understand. The Point I understand where you're coming from I understand yes. Shit doesn't like this doesn't need to happen. It does there's nothing I can physically do about it personally except point out to you that you're not them. You are a multimillionaire more working your way to that point because of your talent, your skill and your ability play the game price. You as a athlete. well-fed well trained. Best shape, your ever loving life you have a house bigger than anything you've ever grew up in, you've got cars for days all these other things but. You need to remember that you are entertainer You're not a politician. So, that said. When to go into your point? After the Super Bowl. Until they actually have one right. That two weeks later, when everything's died down in the in the winter sprayed is over and losers or duck griping and the coaches players have made their way to their respective all. Wherever. That may be they're probably their private castles. Yes don't don't live in a castle guarded by you know dogs bigger than. Most people's. Cars. Were we will probably see as you said. Well you know revenue was down. Because of viewership is down across the board anywhere between currently twenty twenty, two percent to encroaching upon thirty percent. For Games you know TV, rights merchandise sales are going to be down. People are actively boycotting across those media and they're actually making their voice known by not watching. All of a sudden if we were to take thirty two current teams. And we look at. All the owners in this how much money they have? Now if we were to take thirty percent of total investment apart. As a conglomerate figure. We're talking a loss of probably and I would strong. Guess. Somewhere in the neighborhood of anywhere between two and two point, five, billion dollars while even go you want all you can go one better I think since the economy has basically picked up I mean you gotta remember the day to ten billion was during the Obama Konami which was one of the worst economies history. Okay. So that said you gotta figure that now it's probably going to be between ten and twelve. So if you have a twenty percent revenue law, if you have a almost thirty percent, you're talking about three billion dollars. That's a three billion dollar loss. So even if even if you spread that across thirty two teams, you're talking about what? Three hundred, million dollar loss per franchised. and. So and a lot of the smaller market. Good. So again, as an owner with Joan, arbitrary figure of five, hundred, million dollars starting I just lost seventy five percent of your or yeah of my revenue that I put into have an NFL team. Well, exactly. Well Number One and number two what anybody thinks that now? Okay. We all understand the cats at the revenue sharing For Those of us that are initiated, understand understand the the the reason for revenue. Okay. That's that's a given. Okay. Even still a thirty percent cut to that revenue devastates small-market teams devastate. Okay that's. Cleveland Cleveland Cambe that's Detroit. Well, I think Detroit is a bit bigger, but I catch meaning. into. Jacksonville. Flow? Buffalo Alright. That unders. Anyway. They're too big but no I hear you here's here's here's the thing the smaller market teams are going to move may if this continues maybe on the verge of bankruptcy and and if you really don't think that the NFL owners will lock out the players to avoid that. I just think everybody's so naive that they shouldn't even be a football fan you can. Football I in my opinion, these played the players and Adele are cutting the owners throats and I don't think the owners appreciate it number one and number two I. Think the owners are more in touch with their demographic their fan base style people want to believe i. don't say that they like their fan base because obviously as the executive class billionaires general ended the tend to hate working people or at least have a disdain for them. Okay. But the point being is that it's unsustainable model for them to go forward to continue this crap. Of K, it's it's absolutely ludicrous. So I think about beat that horse to death did you have anything to add on just on that? Final thought regarding that as an owner is a businessman I yeah exactly. Exactly. His businesses to? Yes he owns the team but as a business owner, you're always looking to. CRUISER BOTTLE BLONDE Increase but also you know they've got, they've got a commitment. You know what I mean I mean the bottom line is there are associated with raising revenue to pay Patrick mahomes half a billion dollars over the next. Seven years. Of. The point the point is this is that there are costs associated developing that revenue and win the players behavior or when when the when the the players union in the League encourages behavior that is deleterious to to that mission. Then what are the owners supposed to do? Gordon exactly. They locked the doors take resigning before we open this and then players you're GONNA WE'RE GONNA have to do a big restructure here. Sorry. You know this is this is not you? Not You know you're not this side of the world you guys are on the upper echelon. Of money you have succeeded in. On yourself up by your bootstrap for lack of terminology, you have made it playing a game that you love passion for three enforce your point duty not only are they a privileged class? Okay. Let I verified this I verify this last night. I made a statement that that. The NFL, the people on the NFL minimum as in rookies that that you know what we're undrafted free agents, right that are somehow made the squad, which is more powerful MAZAFA. A No experience. Rookie. Signed as a free agent this year in the League makes a minimum of six hundred, thousand dollars. Six hundred, ten, thousand dollars I then went to the Department of Labor's website guess what the average household income for Americans is as twenty twenty. Sixty, one, thousand, three, hundred. Yes. They working person would take ten eleven years to make. They're making six months show and this is not this is not an insult. I'm only going to use the label for for effect. Hacks in the NFL make ten times. The average working family does and they dare fucking lecture us about what our values should be faulk them. Big F what. Exactly. With a with capitalize all letters with with several exclamation points at the end. So that said I. Underlined and and I tell us is never. That's that said, I I wanNA give credit where it's due also understand that you know. What did I just go off on the NFL to you know to to to the end up with surprise we'll tell you why because You know even in the worst of situations, even even in the darkest night, there are rays of sunshine out gather are rays of light and I want to heap praise on two particular players, and these are the only two players. That I'm aware of have done this if any of you out there. Needed to midnight Patriot nation are aware of more please let us know. So we can give them their just desserts in their props. I want to give particular a credit to a hundred in the way of of the of the Pittsburgh steelers. Mr Villanueva is a former army ranger That said he made a big splash stirred shit storm by doing the right thing. I'm not going to get into the to the criminal that that the that the steelers. We're trying to honor Norma GonNa try to justify it didn't happen there but. Mr Vienna wave. Did something very classy He caped over the criminals name and he chose to honor sergeant first class all when cash. Now I believe I'm saying that correctly cut me some slack by brute if I if I. A brutalized his name that is not the intention. To say how I believe it's spelled. But sergeant first, class all, when. Cash. who was killed in Afghanistan? And I I, WANNA. I WANNA take. The chance to really You know he preys on on Mr Villain away for for going against the grain and for honoring in a true fallen hero on instead of instead of the criminal. So. Well on on that. The next one and probably the biggest honors of the latest give to the Jaguars tight tyler effort. I think I'm saying his name correctly also I don't think it's effort at the. But again, please forgive me if I've Jaguars fans if wrecked his name to. That being said that were I for also You know went against the grain he chose to honor the life of David Dorn David Dorn for those of you that that don't know was retired police officer. I believe it was Saint Louis. He. police chief Sir about that. He was retired police chief and he. was acting on behalf of a friend to go and check is Friends Pawn Shop. And he was gunned down he was killed Doing doing that by a felon in possession of firearm each shot this this legitimate euro From behind in the back of the head, which was incredibly cowardly act. ADORNS widow. was featured at the Republican National Convention. So those be the she told the heart wrenching story and As much as I am I gotTa tell you broaden orphee side, but he loved me misty. I was just her story about David's life was very touching and the impact on her family were simply crush. So I wanNA other drove I drove home the point. Your choice exact life exactly as what makes you? Exactly you know people people come from from bad situations and rise to great heights in as far as I know. This is the only country in the world that that can happen. Where you can make what you want of your own life. Okay. The biggest prison that we have in this country, the prison in our own minds. So A. Big Praise to do Mr Bean away and Mr for will done. I still have the continue my. My boycott because of my standards but you gentlemen have shown that there is a a ray of light in darkness. So Phoenix where you have anything to add or have we beat this to death. By by Pres for. There are people in the NFL that are serving of. Respect for me for one. Not because of their wallet or their house or their cars. But they chose stand for the national anthem. As. SOMEONE WHO Leaves in their country. Leaves in the American dream all though little hard to attain sometimes. The anthem regardless of anybody's political stance. The gentleman across the nation. And the NFL NBA MLB. I stand with you guys choose to stand in honour your country. That is. The way it is your will said. Anybody else wants that is your choice. I. Respect your choice I don't like it but I do respect it. But I stand with the gentleman who chooses stanton honor the country, the greatest country on this earth. Gives them every opportunity to excel in anything that they choose to? Like professional football or professional athletics exactly. I think it. I think it's worth mentioning here. I know we said we beat the source of, but I wanNA bring up another topic to. Weird Midnight Patriots all of us. May disagree with with what someone says, but we would fight to our desk to protect their their right to say those words. That being said I think one of the other things that the public is piss pot tired of is the privileged wealthy assholes. Being able to have different sets of rules at their workplace than we do. In the Corporate World in William and most smaller companies you do not have. You do not have freedom of speech. Okay. You will be shown the door if you bring up politics religion, etc etc. Okay. With social justice causes or otherwise. They can show you the door. Okay and I don't think I don't think it's Ok these. Use Their their platform on the field or in any way while a uniform to promote their agenda. Okay. Now, I think you and I would agree with this if the NFL Players Association wants to get together and host either a live event or televised event. when they are not playing and they're out of uniform. And they want to tackle these issues donate money to causes give away money whatever I think that would be a perfectly acceptable display. That's fine. Okay. But I think the reason they don't is they know that the cause is a loser. Okay. They're not willing to risk their own money you know to they're not willing to put their money with their mouths are in order to have their protests but but you know somehow everybody else should just shut up and and honor was they're trying to do and I think that that is excellent. You know policy at its finest end. America's PISS POT tired of turning channel I. think that's a big factor as well. As your thoughts unfortunately mean here to. Drive your point. I could see. Getting together having one big party fundraiser l. have running toe board. Hey, you know we're raising all this money great or even several. Yeah Go. But the reason but the reason they're doing it on television is because they can reach a mass audience all at once. But. They haven't had. They had the NFL network. If. The shows a winner, they could sell it to their to their allies in the media. WHO's to say ESPN would cover it. You know for God's sake ESPN has the SP one of the worst ward Joe's ever. Okay and if they want to go up to that into a social justice show fine. Go right ahead or create when like it again. Fine. Or if you know even Amazon or Netflix wants to pick up something about you know the S J W 'cause in the NFL an interview players follow players around their charitable work while they advance these causes grace go ahead I mean I think what they'll find his a there's no interest in be nobody cares they approach it that way that we far less backlash in their their incomes would be far safer than if they continue down this path. the ratings would actually come back to a more normal. That's where I'm talking about I. Mean there are only cutting their own throats by doing it the way they're doing it that that's all I have to say. So that's a wrap for this midnight. "That's right the steelers preview. What we previewing tonight? We're GONNA talk about the rookies. Normally previewing rookies. But that's just the name of the show joining me as always to round out. The triumphant trio is Dave Scofield. Dave how's it going this evening. Hey I'm I'm here. There's still football to be played at some point. I mean arch. Aren't you guys totally amped for this pro bowl on Sunday. Heck Heck Yeah. I know Brian. Anthony Davis is Brian. Welcome to the show pro bowl game face game face got the party already. It's going to be we're going to it's going to be it's like it's one thousand nine hundred nine baby what. What would be the party? Etiquette for pro. Bowl is the same as the Super Bowl. I know you've already getting the article. Queued up every ear for binding. Steel Curtain Dot Com is able to get the same as super bowl ticket. I'm just curious. It's just show up in the history of my life as is a fan. I have never had anybody watch the proble with me but you always watch stallone. I can't say I've watched every year like the Super Label. and Oh Gosh. It's coming though. We're like ten days away from the greatest day of the year for me. I have been gearing up to because I've been watching pass super bowl. steeler super bowls for the site and I'm a At another publishing those articles. Wow It's glorious if if you get a chance to go back and watch old super bowls. It's awesome Lena This past weekend My parents family was in town. Ams Ams of my brother in my sister-in-law my parents were in and we were just sitting. There is nothing on TV ends. I pulled on the TV. I'm GONNA show you all the greatest drive Dr in Pittsburgh steelers history. Just out of curiosity what Dr did I pull up Brian. I'll start with you. See Right the easy easy. Drive that I'm thinking of is from the ten yard line in Super Bowl forty three. That's right. That is correct guy. I can't think of any now. Granted there might be one from the seventies and I'm not fully aware of because I wasn't alive but at the same time that was people. Forget those a holding call in that thing the first lady but also in right before that say shorting in the end zone Chris Key Moya to withhold no. Yeah harding's it was note Jeff. Harding's was gone our way it was just an Hartwig Hartwig. Justin Hartwig radio. That's the name heaven earn awhile. And then surely after the safety was Larry Larry Fitzgerald splitting the defenders in into the end zone. And everyone's thinking holy cow. You know it was tough about that. But because I love Larry Fitzgerald Fan and I get Larry Fitzgerald and I love Kurt in order and I would have been rooting for them. There'd be that'd be one team that I would do. I would root for an any super bowl. That team with those guys on it. Just just not. When they're playing? My guys is a great story but the steelers Dave quick question. I asked my my dad my brother this Ben should have been the MVP DP that game. Yes and the story. Yeah I do I agree yeah I I just don't understand why he didn't get it. I mean that whole San Antonio had incredible drive data drive was remarkable. But Oh my gosh I it was it was tremendous and is that. There's any year that they could have done koby peas. It would have been out. Have you ever done that before. Yeah really actually. They had three one year for the in super bowl thirteen. The Dallas cowboys had Randy White Harvey Martin and there may have been third. I actually think there was a third. Wow but I know I know Randy White Harvey Morton were. Were the two real quick before we get started with our show in the topic of today's shows shield. Ninety one puts five dollars tipped Good long drive tomorrow. I'll save the Stream for that. Have a good show guys shield. Thank you always for your support. I hope you're enjoying this show on Friday as she let let me say. Let me say Real Quick Super Bowl twelve before anybody corrects me. I realized I got it. Wrong Okay Hey. I took a lot lot of grief for Correcting Jeff on the length of the field goal. Let we were both wrong. It was forty one. Oh it was forty you set forty three hundred forty three and I actually went back to check it. It was forty one. My Gosh was only two guys. It was Harvey Martin I and Randy White and Super Bowl twelve but still co.. MVP's all right. Today's episode headline title is the two thousand. Nineteen Pittsburgh steelers rookie review. It's something that we always typically do during the season and even in the off season we start breaking down the steelers roster position by position. So we do we preview things but we kind of dig into one specific topic into today's going to be the two thousand nineteen Pittsburgh steelers rookie class. So we'RE GONNA go round by round round pick by peg in. We're going to talk about. I know a lot of people say will. You can't judge a rookie after one year and I agree one hundred percent and I'm not asking Dave and Brian anyone in the live chat watching on Youtube to say project where they're going to be in three years. I'm saying how did their rookie season go. You want a great it on an eight F scout scale or do you just want to just give some tidbits about Brian. What are you GONNA do? I think we could give tidbits I really don't think we have to give a grade but if you want you because I I know exactly what Brian go to want to do. He's going to give every single one of them what they should get an incomplete. Because it's very difficult on your rookie year. We can't throw that one out. There they are producer Lance Williams just said great in the live right the ad that we're not but we're not allowed to use incomplete kept using complete. Okay what's relievers anyways. Okay for all right the topic. The Pittsburgh steelers moved from twenty up to ten they trade with the Denver Broncos. Get none other than Mr Devon Bush Bush from inside linebacker out of Michigan. Gentlemen Grade IT You can give some tidbits before you're great but if you're looking at Devon Bush's body of work in two thousand nineteen. Brian will start with you. How would you view it? Well if you look at Devin Bush the fact that they traded up for this guy and they also gave away a pick this year. Your Your number three pick when they're getting ready to pick number three. It's not gonNA be there. It's GONNA be the Denver Broncos and you know why because that's part of your Devon Bush trade. We should be happy with that. Because that's everything you wanted. I saw somebody today. Talk in fact I think it was was an email that That I saw thus one of my other counterparts. Dave Scofield got Saying that that Bush's too small and should be moved aligned. Moved a safety and I'm like no this is. This is everything you wanted out of this guy. He goes sideline to sideline he had. He had a touchdown. This year could could have had another one. But as a rookie. He did more in the La- I mean. I don't know of a rookie. That has achieved more on the defensive side of the ball. Better than Devon Bush Junior and. I'm including Troy Paolo. Malo because if you grade if this was is two thousand four after the two thousand three season you're probably given this guy a C. Minus at Best Chore Paulo. Malo and. We're talking about him. I'm in the hall of fame next week. I had a wonderful rookie rookie year. I was actually surprised the all rookie team and I was surprised that that that He didn't have a more consideration for the pro bowl because he's thought of across the League as one of the future stars on defense so I mean I have to give this guy in a minus. Okay Dave thoughts on Devon Bush be plus not bits has decreased. Now honestly I was teetering between a B. Plus or minus. I said I said I basically said I'm GONNA give whichever one Bryant has it only only because I thought he had a fantastic year and try not hear that he said at one point he was an alternate for the pro bowl. Oh if enough people would have bailed out. I thought there was a report out there that but I'm not sure Only only bad thing about the ravens. I'm not making the Super Bowl. Is a lot of guys. Missed out on that. They could've they could've filled in with them but but once again I thought he had a very good year. I should probably bump that up to a minus because the only reason I didn't give him an a was because of what the steelers steelers did to get him because of the trade up and the no pick this year. It doesn't mean he disappointed me. It just meant that. He has much higher expectations that that I'm going to have from almost any other rookie. And he met almost all of them. There's room for improvement but I thought he had a very solid year ear. And I'm really looking forward to see exactly how they're going to utilize them with with the same thing that Brian mentioned where or someone contacted me about saying he. He's too small. We can't stop the run. He should be a strong safety now. That's not what he feels. It moved up ten spots for him to be a safety. They've moved up to the LINEBACKER. And your your linebackers. Packers have different roles. I really like the Combo of him and Vinnie. BVT together seeing what they can do after Bush now has a year under. There's belt I think the sky's the limit for the Combo wasn't a life. Chances That day just looked Bush was named a pro bowl alternate. So you're correct Yes good stuff. A lot of people are Lance Sir Lancelot is in live Chad. He can he's comparing belted Kendra He's comparing Devon Bush to Kendra Bell Number Ninety seven in That was he was the defensive rookie of the year. Kendra bill had a remarkable marketable yet he season and that was incredible. No one no one saw his ankles not holding up the way that they did he was fantastic. And you know that's the guy forgot about. That was two thousand. One I believe an Casey Hampton was the first round of that year so that was a pretty nice draft. Absolutely I. I'M GONNA give Devon Bush a solid all it be I think he has a ton of potential I think the Mike Tomlin limited him a lot this year not so much the in actually he didn't really hide it. Tomlin said this often in his in his press conferences about with these young players with these rookies. You have to kind of sometimes you have to pull them back rain than in a little bit. And you saw more of Devon Bush reacting in the second half of the season I think that his arrows definitely pointing up. I'll give him a B so we're all on her bed same. The same realm in terms of picks. There's one more thing about Bush he didn't have to do as much because of the presence of Mark Barron also whether you like Mark Barron or not and we're going to have a slew of people in the live chat not saying he's garbage cut him but he was there and he had some very productive games and they were they weren't able to they didn't have to force him into into anything. Because you had Baron as well as Bush. Now you're right. Well good one of the things you got to remember about him. I was trying to pull up one last last thing about him. He led the team.

"Also from bt SC. Tony how are you I am doing well. Brian how are you. How was your trip back? I tell you what Tony Is. What Tony's doing right now is he is referring to the fact that I made my inaugural inaugural trip to my inaugural two thousand nineteen trip to Heinz field? Yesterday and I went with Dave Scofield met up with Tony Jeffey so for the first time we first time we ever met in person it was like you could hear like we are the world and the speakers around as we embraced for the first time and Literally kidding I'm like Tony. I'm giving you a hug. I'm so glad But Yeah I got home at five fifteen this morning because as you know I do look in. I do live in Maryland. So I'm a I'm a little Bush but feeling good and I'm going to bring this up here to that. Nine hundred and sixty three says bad. You look good for getting home so late. I appreciate that and I got a mentioned and Mr Nap. Nine hundred sixty three a good fan of the show David. I had a chance to hang out with he and his family and his friends in the Great Hall. Aw and it was an absolute pressure pleasure. It is so nice to meet more Pittsburgh steeler fans and France in our BTC group We hope hope to do it again. We hope to do it again next year to as well of stared at a love. This bad looks awful. Cold hold arriving that the game. I had seven layers and then he drove home in the snow. And I look at Dave Scofield. I said look I gotta pull all over I gotta get some of these layers off because wedding So here's the deal. We're talking about a hangover and we talk talk about that game. Did Not go the way that we wanted. And Maximum McCormick is asking for this bad. I need a pick-me-up me up king. And that's what we're here for because we are your steeler support group and that's that's very important thing for for us to be together and celebrate and revel when we win and when we lose go ahead and take care of each other as well. Oh so that's what we're GONNA do today. We're GONNA talk about this game we're GonNa talk about the state of the steelers going forward. I promise you Maxwell Oh I'm GONNA pick you up pick all of us up and let you know what we're looking at going forward because hey this is a bump in the road of very weird and unique season and we've seen seasons like this and one thing I'm going to say about this season so far is it is completely against the script. We we had no idea whatsoever that we were going to be talking about guys. Like de la Hodges in white and even deontay Johnson at this point. We thought we were talking about Ben Rothlisberger James Connor and Juju Smith Schuster. So that's that's really what we're looking at so there's so many things to talk about but I wanNA talk about once again support of the show. And how do you support us. She asked us all all the time. Well we can support us by going joining the live chat and just talking to us if you want to go ahead and throw in some money in the super chat. It goes and pays for or stuff like microphones. which were we're not getting? I haven't gotten mine yet. But the other fellas have it's it goes to go ahead and pay for contest test which we just gave away. David decastro football as well But also gets you to the front of the line with your question and we'll go ahead and answer your questions a little litter on in the show. But the best way to support us is go ahead and Lance Williams always says tune in and tell a friend and subscribe. And so we just ask you to go ahead and subscribe ringing that Bell so you get notifications and like this podcast. Ask others forty-five on here right. Now Give us thirty five likes in. Let's get going but here's the thing the big thing is we're we're here to talk about the steelers and what we need to do to go ahead and go forward. Hey this season is not over Tony. Let me ask you this us with two games to go or the Pittsburgh steelers currently if the season ended today or they play off team. Yeah yeah they're they're still a number sixty day really damage their Their playoff chances. That all that much by Losing yesterday but it was a sad reality. They can't make those kinds of station and beat anybody so hopefully. It was a wakeup call for them. So Eric Could Jason this. She says time to beat up on the jets. And so that's what that's what we're going to go ahead and look at we're GONNA look forward. We're going to get through what happened yesterday. I and the question is right now. This is a playoff team. Got Some gifts yesterday from from other teams and some of the gifts that we received were the Tennessee. Titans losing at home to the Houston Texans who they played again in week week. Seven the Jacksonville. Jaguars went to Oakland. And beat the raiders which that means they're pretty much out Arizona cardinals. BEAT THE CLEVELAND Browns. So they're out not that they were a big threat but these guys are out now. So you're really looking in a seven teams trying to get into a sixteen field. Adam Lewis is the titans are favored more than fifty percent to go ahead and make it over the steelers lers now so this is where it gets a little tricky. And I'm going to ask for some help on this as well but two games left for the Pittsburgh steelers. You GotTa Win Those Games. Don't if you win those games you're in November so there's nothing keeping them out if they if they win out there in so let's talk about the steelers I and when we're talking about the steelers were saying they've got to go to New York and beat the jets or Jersey meadowlands. I'm not there's no call the meadowlands. It's met Life Stadium. I understand that but it's still in that area and Then we've got to go ahead and talk about what the titans have to do. Now if the titans lose next week against the saints at home it's not over because ause they would have to really really if they win that game next week. That's that's not a not a big deal as much as they've gotta lose against the Texans they've gotTA lose another conference game so that's where it gets really weird so steelers. They went out there in so they control their own destiny. I need this time. But here's the problem. And it's also the title of the show. Is the offense of the Pittsburgh steelers playoff-caliber playoff-caliber or they postseason worthy. And that's the problem. They showed some flaws like a it provoked thoughts. That's like this duck showed some flaws yesterday but if they game plan to what he can do well and he doesn't force beat ball we can win. OC OC has to game plan running the ball at least sixty five percent of the time and I believe I saw something up here from Michael Tool and he he is right to. We lost because we ran fifteen times for fifty yards and the bills ran thirty eight times for one hundred and thirty bills play late. We have been playing in feet and put the Game Indus- hands and we all see the result. That was a horrible game plan yesterday. This does not now. This does not take take the take the onus off of Devon Hodge Devlin Hodges had a bad game. But here's the problem. It's like this. Listen war it's like this any game you play if you get tipped off on something and you know something's coming you and you can predict it. You can stop it. The bills were tipped off on everything. Because the Pittsburgh steelers Randy feeder. They tip off everything. When you see Zach banner and Johnny Houghton Come in the game? You know it's not going to be a pass. Yes you know what's going to be a run in when you go run. Run Pass Credit Dave scofield because Dave has been harping on this for a long time. Now when you see banner come in you pretty much know that it's going to be a run so you're telegraphing everything. When you see that wildcat come in here I'm not staying being scrapped? The wildcat and put it away forever. But what I'm saying is you've got to go ahead and bring in one time in the third quarter when when you're already you already have a game plan established so it was really weird Isaac Aguilera puts five dollars into the tip charts. How do you dress five running backs and running fifteen times? They set up. Tuck for failure. Look look they did like. I said it still doesn't excuse. Ducks play but they knew he was passing in those situations allegations and they can just sit back and wait for it and he is you and I made this. I don't want to call it an excuse but I made this case for Mason Rudolph to when he was playing. Would you know what he's doing. And you have a young player that is still waiting to go ahead and get established. You know. It's a lot easier to go ahead and predict what he's doing and to be able to stop them so when you go ahead and put him him in a situation where you. You've got a young player that I mean with the pedigree of with the lack of pedigree really at this point line of then. You know that you're going to be able to stop Michael o'malley says this and he is absolutely correct. Five Live turnovers and lost by seven. The D. is legit. Need the offense to mature. Tony let me ask you this. Let's go ahead and take a look at the offense and we've already talked about game plan and I know you agree that the game plan was ridiculous. The I know you agree that they need to run the ball more and we agree that Devlin Hodges charges whoever's put in that position whether it be Mason Rudolph whether it be Paxton Lynch and let's not be pining Paxton. Let's be looking for a change right now. Now but let's go ahead and talk about that offense who's the biggest problem on this offense or what part of this offense is the biggest problem. I just think it's it's a injuries number one but then but to your point about the game plan a and you got your your your horse running back back yesterday James Connor back and and you only two as Mike o'malley said you only run fifteen times the whole game ain't it doesn't make any sense. The game plan defied all logic. So I I'm GonNa say I'm GonNa say injuries are the biggest factor but but your your offense coordinator and and I don't like the Tyrrell against the coaches especially fichtner this year with all the problems he's had to deal with but it just defied logic to you're going against an elite pass defense with an elite cornerback. trae white and you throw thirty eight times and you run it only fifteen times. It just did not make any sense so I say right now. Number one is injuries and number two would be the for sure. I love how Dennis Ceratin says is turned four string rookie quarterbacks who are not up to NFL varsity play yet. That's kind of what the problem is here. A lot of people are saying this we we just we just saw it. I didn't read it but we saw it from nap. And Adam saying lot of eight-man boxes in the last game I would have really liked to see audibles from the duck. That's that's interesting interesting as well to..

"It's year six or seven hundred l Joining me as always is my boy Lance Williams lands. I just wanted to say that somebody and I don't know if the live chat I I get every comment on our youtube channel said to me e mail and I've look over. Everything similar went back and found our very first youtube video. I had I had longer hair you refuse to have your face be shown was just like yours. Yes yes yes remember. What did awesome? Wouldn't show my face to we had a thousand subscribers. Yeah and here we are. We're on the verge of five. Hey in two thousand seventeen. And he's gotten better. Yes I would not. Yeah I remember that I just had an emblem upfront mother-in-law's at the titles awful you you don't you just said that in the first few minutes of this I'm GONNA so they don't listen. No no all all right. Let's go back and check the tape speaking of something in your head though. Let's say you got some Duck Dynasty at all Lynn on duck. I got the campus. You see them trying get it right. I got the kind of dim in my background but I got the CAMMO hat. Get the fresh camel lid. I'm all in on Duck Dynasty Baby Duck. Doc I trust Greg crack and crack lack. All right It's an exciting time for the Pittsburgh steelers in to be a fan of the steelers dealers. Such a crazy season. It's been a lot of fun I WanNa ask you a question before we get to the Arizona thoughts and this is something that Oh i wanted to talk about. I actually actually did a do articles for every ton of articles for binding so curtain dot com. But I did one I. It's called the steelers think tank in. It's basically I think of a question. I think it'd be cool for people people to discuss it and so I read an article around it. Then they have the comments action to hash it out and the other one I did yesterday. Tuesday had a lot of comments. Probably seventy comments. It's by when all is said and done. And here's the question lance if the steelers don't make the playoffs how do you view two two thousand nineteen the two thousand nineteen season in general that. That's a very interesting question and I'm going to answer it the way I see most people answering and then I'm going to give you my answer. I think most steeler fans are going to see it as a positive given the circumstance I think most dealer fans say it's a positive given the circumstances given the fact that they're playing who a guy who was essentially Salihi their fourth string quarterback. They're starting quarterback is a dash. Yeah that just happened to have a nickname. So his name could be duck dash just legitimately so I think most fans would see it as a success. They thought the season would be you know foreign twelve. I probably said for twelve twelve. Show three hundred thirteen after being got hurt it. was you know. Jump off the bridge. One of the numerous bridge in Pittsburgh to Clementi Bridge any bridge. You WanNa choose asked what I think. The fan base was thinking but I think the fan base is going to be positive about this season because of of the turmoil that they've gone through with the quarterback position. I think they'll see the season as a positive now. Think that's one way you could look at it however I choose to frame it in the Lynn's of championships because I'm the ultimate spoilt steeler fan because I'm of the age where I was alive when they got all six right. I mean a from Pittsburgh side. I've lived through all six of those things and I I pretty much can only look at the season through one lens. Either you win it or you don't and so if they don't go to the playoffs they they don't compete for a championship for me. It's a disappointing Caesar regardless of the circumstances but I think a majority of the fan base will see the season. There's a positive in a surprisingly the article that I wrote. I checked in on the comments. And things like that and shockingly. Most of the people were like so you said positive but at the same time I still think a lot of those people still view the steelers as sitting in prime position to make the playoffs. And so I think in the back of their mind. Hi there expecting that playoff berth. But if it doesn't happen I think that the tune might change But when you look at the grand spectrum of this season and as you mentioned all the stuff that went down my goodness it's remarkable that they're even in this position right now. Let alone on the verge of a potential playoff berth. So I just studies really interesting. I wanted to get your take on that Well let me add something Jeff Jeff and we were gonNA talk about it later show but I figured we'd talk about it now. We we gotta give some Kudos to Kevin Colbert and the coaching staff for one developing players. Ever Kevin Colbert identifying players like karat white like Superman Dean. Cain like identifying guys like that off the waiver wire off of other teams practice squads and not only identifying talented guys but the coaching staff didn't getting those guys ready to make contributions on Sunday and we've seen contributions from both those players so I don't know if I talk talk about it and you guys might on other shows I don't I don't give Kevin Cobra his just do and I and I think Kevin Colbert is one of the best in the business and I think it shows unless even extended to you know him. Getting out of his comfort zone is going to get fitzpatrick. So a lot of this stuff that Kevin Colbert has done this year. Here put the Pittsburgh steelers in position to really go after this playoff spot so You know in this Christmas holiday season I want to give a big shoutout to Kevin Cobra for doing a fantastic job might be one of the last few years that he's around here so it's about time that he gets since just do you know it's it's it's great. He say that and I I xe a kind of brought it up A few times when talking about free agent acquisitions there's people like You Know Ed Bouchette of the athletic. I'm not a fan of who you know. bashes their decision making off the field as Oh another you know looking at a book kid with dairy screen screen. Look at Morgan. Burnett look at I can't remember Dante Moncrieff. All these failed free agent acquisitions and it's like well. Are you forgetting getting Steven Nelson. He's he's panned out or you forgetting about bringing in a guy like Mike Hilton. He's paying now. I mean we as a society I understand tend to glean lean and lean towards the negative but I always say you've people's occupant. Yeah Hey talk bad about me and you couldn't hater helmer you have these. There's even People Lina this. I've said this when they traded the first draft pick for Mega Fitzpatrick. I said the steelers weren't that good of drafting the version anyways. Because you will get already Burns Cottrell Edmund. To a lot of people think could have been in there around two maybe three but at the same time people also and if you're in the live chat and you're in the comments section of behind the curtain to come I read these comments myself. You could go back and review articles when they drafted TJ Wa in the first round. There were a lot of people thought it was a reach. I am not making that up. Because a lot of people thought at the time he hadn't played defense his whole collegiate career he was very rough around the edges. He was very. We both do pre lake and the fact that he was a combine superstar in the combine. Really pro push up his drastic. There were people that said They were upset that they didn't get David to joke. WHO's now at the Cleveland Browns? He's never able to play because he's always hurt. There were people that bash them because they thought TJ while was re sometimes. They know what they're doing and no one not even the ma- genius the mad cheater. We'll talk about that. Later of of a New England hits hits on all cylinders all the time. Think about people that they've signed that haven't panned out in free agency. Think about these draft picks that don't pan out trust me people it's it's an in in perv imperfect science but several. GM's in several coaches have done it well enough for the long haul Colbert's one Tomlin's another be happy be happy because when he's gone might be different. Yes it could be so okay. Kudos to Kevin Colbert will leave it at that. Now let's talk about the Arizona Game Lance. We always like to go back before we move forward and we talk about the steelers won Arizona. We talked at length about that in our post game shows. Go back and check that out on a youtube channel as well as in audio platforms it after having a chance to watch the film and I know you did. What were some of the takeaways from that game a week fourteen? They played a very solid game In in all phases they got the special teams touchdown. I thought they ran the ball effectively in spots. What's I thought? Devlin Hodges played his best game I think he took care of the football. He made sound decisions. They have morphed into and we're going to talk about it. You know on the show later to what their identity is as a football team and I think they played too that there were some mistakes there of course they continue the turnover street to get to an NFL historical record number of twenty historically. I think it's I think it is a record I think. NFL NFL record twenty consecutive games. I'm sure if I'm wrong. Somebody in the live chat will pointed out. But there's one number that I wanted to point out It's the number one hundred hundred thirty five. I meant to say it on our post gain Devlin. Doug Hodges had a hundred and thirty five net yards passing. And you know I always want to give numbers to you. Know the CO EDITOR OF BEHIND STEEL CURTAIN DOT COM Dave Scofield does to outstanding Stagich Geek. Show with his brother rich. I wanted to give him that number and I and I challenged him to find out. What is the win? Loss record for. Teams Games with their quarterback has a net passing yards of under a hundred and fifty it. You can't win a bunch of games throwing for under a hundred and thirty about one hundred thirty five yards. So that's just a Kudos to how well that defense is playing but at some point in time as as they move forward you know that net passing yards. You know it's going to have to go up a little bit. He's going to have to make a few more plays but as we as it is now. They're playing linked to what I think. Their identity is in their winning football games. You always say I mean when you win. It's tough you win and correct correct but at the same time. It's tough to really criticize when they're winning. These games this way. Is it sustainable. That's the ultimate question. That's insane aboard. Title one hundred thirty five yards net passing. I mean that is I mean. That's well but let's be honest what we're really talking about isn't net passing talking. Yeah I can defense play well enough to keep them in the game where one hundred thirty five net passing are good enough to win it correct. I mean that's that's that's what you're putting it up against. Can they keep the Games close enough to where the quarterback in the offense can make limited plays a limited amount of place. Yeah it and that's that's what they're going to have to do. Oh.

"Was out with a back injury linebacker Budde. Do pre was out of the pectoral injury backup guard BJ Finney was out for a personal reason. I guess a lot like me bane. He didn't practice on Wednesday. Either the tackle Marcus Gilbert did not practice with a knee injury. That'll be big. We'll talk about his backup coming up later and the Tynan van. Mcdonald was out with a hip injury. He did not practice on Wednesday either. Now moving on to this Pittsburgh Steelers offense, and this is an explosive offense. They've got some considerable weapons all over the field. And we'll start with quarterback Ben Rothlisberger. Now as charger fans we've seen Big Ben a lot over the years. We know that he can extend to play. He's real tough QB to bring down that's all a given. So the chargers pass rushers will have to wrap up make sure to bring him down. Because when he slips a tackle that is win. Ben is at his most dangerous. Let's talk about how Ben has played this season. Pittsburgh loves the throw the ball because Big Ben has those weapons. In fact, Rothlisberger leads the league and pass attempts. This season Steelers have won seven game. So it's not like that's one of those standards inflated where he got a throw to catch up in games. They've been up they've been a lot. So Pittsburgh just leans on their aerial salt on Sundays while. Leading the league in attempts. Ross burgers completion percentage is eighteenth overall among quarterbacks he's also thrown twenty four touchdown passes, which is eighth among QB's Philip rivers fifth in that category. He's got twenty six TD passes compare Rothlisberger twenty four touchdowns to his twelve interceptions which is tied for second. Most in the NFL Big Ben has fifty five interceptions in fifty two regular season game since two thousand fifteen he's one of five quarterbacks that have at least fifty interceptions during that span. And I bet you guess who one of the other five is Philip rivers. He's thrown fifty picks in fifty nine games. So let's five less interceptions in seven more games. Compared to Big Ben in two thousand eighteen Rothlisberger has the most poor throws in the league. According to the QB incompletion breakdown. His biggest struggles this year has been in the red zone. Rothlisberger has the third worst passer rating in the. NFL in the red zone with a seventy one point four passer rating. In fact, it was an interception the red zone that causes to the game last week in Denver and he leads the league with four red zone interceptions this past weekend. Ben Rothlisberger criticized some of his teammates and on Wednesday. He doubled down saying leaders have to call out teammates. And on that span. He said Antonio Brown run his route flat enough on the goal line interception. The cost them the game. Last sunday. He said juju should have got the ball in that play. He disapproved of marquees pounces blocking on that. Same play for blocking the nose tackle too deep into the end zone. That seems like if you're driving a defender the opposite way away from the quarterback. That's usually a good thing. But I guess that's just me. He also called out rookie receiver James Washington for diving for a ball where bent on he could just run under it and catch it. He said a cost them six points in the third quarter. No, obviously that type of motivation when you go through the media to call out players, usually. Was one of two ways it'll fire guys up or it begins a meltdown strife in the locker room. We'll see how Pittsburgh responds this Sunday. But we know that they can throw it their explosive offense. But when you get him in the red zone shrink that field down a little bit. That's when Big Ben gets a little careless with the football. And the chargers in the zone have done pretty good..

"pittsburgh. steelers" Discussed on Behind the Steel Curtain

"It was Bengal weeks and you know what thing go week means, even though there's a possibility of a win. There's also a possibility of complete destruction to your entire team. Hello friends. Once again, it is time for the Steeler hangover, and so that's a hangover. It's just because of great showy and Steeler nation with the Pittsburgh Steelers winning a thriller in the cincy jungle twenty eight to twenty one in the Queen city, and the kings are hailing from Pittsburgh at this certain time, even though they are only a half game back of the Bengals. Is it at turn upwards or has the defense turn so bad that it's gonna be tough going through with? That's one of the things we're gonna discuss, but we're going to discuss the great joy of that victory and discussing that with me once again is my good friend, Tony deaf, yo from behind the steel. Curtain, Tony. What do you think my man feeling groovy? Oh, yeah. How you doing Brian good to be with you as always feeling great. Probably one of my favorite teams wins. Got one of the craziest games and the most satisfying because it's Cincinnati is I don't know about you and this is something we can discuss, but for me and I live in Maryland. So I'm a guy that lives in Maryland. I a hor- the Bank, the ravens. But since the Bengals have gone to fuck city in the last ten years or so under or maybe the last fifteen with the more Lewis era. I don't know what all I know is that I can honestly say that I despise Cincinnati Bengals more than I do the Baltimore Ravens. I don't know if you feel that way. So for me, Tony, this is so satisfying what? What's your thoughts on that? Well, I think my my hatred for the ravens is a little bit deeper because they just give Steelers hard time and I don't like John Harbaugh. Hey, yet the ravens. The Bengals are definitely Ashim. I respect less than the reason that's for sure. And they do a lot of talking. They do a lot of. Dirty players, but they just don't get. They don't get the job done on on the field, especially against feelers. And you know, at this point I'm thinking Pittsburgh should be paying the Bengals rent because or at least half a mortgage because they might as well move Paul Brown stadium at the magic. They against that team, they're just I've never seen anything like it how they continue to win games in such a magical fashion at another teams stadium brain. So I'm feeling pretty good. Maybe because of that, we should call Ben Rothlisberger the landlord of PBS. What do you think? Man. I wish everyone thought of that, but I like it. What you're you. Go ahead and write it. That's yours. I, I'm you give me credit if you want, but let's just say that's property Steelers hangover, so we could both use it. Like I said, like sometimes we, we share the same brain. So there you go the landlord of Paul Brown stadium. I love it and I love what they're doing. You said that the Bengals are doing a lot of talking speaking of a lot of talking to hangovers brought you by behind the steel curtain.
