Fresh update on "pittsburgh steelers" discussed on Behind the Steel Curtain

"Ever met. Tony and I. Started, doing shows on blog talk radio together. Now, we're back after doing years of Youtube together. Tony Death. Tony what is up my friend? Hey, going Brian I. am fantastic on this Tuesday morning. Thanks for for putting this together I'm looking forward to this show. Or I gotTa tell you what? Special props to. Jeff Hartmann and Dave Scofield we when we sat down for BTS's. Sant- to come up with some ideas were thinking audio morning show. Let's do that and. That's what we're doing. So we're doing these shows were still doing youtube stuff at night with any of your podcast platform you could find us on in be sure to check out behind the curtain. For All of your Pittsburgh steelers reading needs that blog site is absolutely fantastic and I gotta tell you I've been a part of it for five years. Tony, you've been ten. Ten Years ten years this month of August. Two, six, two, thousand, ten I found it in my life's been hasn't been the same sense. So you know mine was August of two, thousand fifteen when I actually July late July. When I first started in actually got death threats for for my article and Tony and I were talking about that today my third ever article when I was talking about. The steelers bringing in Michael Vick how that was a possibility in May? The most comments of every the comments section people were going crazy thinking that I was endorsing it. It was actually very proud of myself was a very objective article but You know that happened. So I got introduced. I got introduced to the whole blog seen. Really early why there's no, there's no objectivity conic section. With Hey, we love you. We can't. We can't do the shows without the comments section in without viewers and readers and listeners so. Our BTS's failure so important to us. So we really appreciate that now one thing that happened later on that year when we're getting ready for the regular season Jeff Hartmann back in two thousand, fifteen said Hey I'm gonna go ahead and do something special I. WanNa we have a lot of new people on the blog site. Not a lot of people know who you are. So I WANNA do. A preview of you, guys. Maybe, a a bio, let's by articles for each one of us. So me. You know twenty I like to do things. I'm a big pop culture guy as you know a loved one, thousand, nine, hundred especially. But I'm one of those guys that I like to stay out because I feel nothing special. So the way I write I like to write with a lot of color. And so I was trying to explain how I'm different than most people and is not know who you were yet. The only the only thing I knew about you was the all the flack you took from your Michael Vick, commentary. I I'm still shaking that kind of response by the way I was looking at the stats page for days like in awe like man. I'M GONNA. Get a bonus for this or something you know I was. I got a lot of crazy emails I'll I'll say that no bonus a lot of crazy emails. Personal. Emails or your refund yeah. But I I gotTA. Tell you now if you know where I'm going with with the bio pages. Were roughly two we're the same age. So we're GONNA be we grew up at the same time and we probably here the same experiences. Yes but here's what I think. Drew you to me. You might not even remember this, but that's what you said. You miss a comment and you emailed me you're mad when I wanted to know we're the same age I. but you're like, I had one quote that I wanted to stand up and be different I said look a lot of people. Are Lonnie Anderson There Jennifer Marlowe me. Bailey quarters guy. So what I'm talking about WPN Cincinnati. Tony. Just like. Lit Up, and that's when he reached out to me and we became friends. Ever since t remember that quote in that article I do I definitely A team Bailey when it comes to W. P. In Cincinnati I thought she was. I had a much bigger crush on her than it did online Anderson Oh she was a sweetie. She's really cute Lonely to me. Is Beautiful I mean there is no. I. Mean. You. Know there is no saying that she's not but that's I mean. You and I must like the The. Educated, luck the. The they look meet a mile, but you know deep down, they could be wild that kind of thing, and so that's that's who Bailey was in. Absolutely loved it. So when I discovered, I discovered w. p. right away but. We grew up one probably having the same after school routine to Tony at and so if you and I can. Help memory works I remember all the great things that happened. What I did in pop culture is a big part of that. So when you came home from school in Western Pennsylvania you put on W.. Ta. Channel Four. You got through the fact that the three o'clock. It was general hospital from three or four the after that it was party. You knew it was going to be three's company. At four o'clock. Then it was going to be laverne surely. At five o'clock, it was GONNA be Mash in five thirty was gonNA be all in the family roughly for the first part of the eighties. Then, I mean in eventually cheers got in there as as a other shows got into syndication but something special happened to me in nineteen eighty, four one of my favorite years in it's when wkno started. So that's one thing when. The show started in nineteen, seventy eight but te started them in Nineteen eighty-four and I got to watch every episode and. That was a twelve year old bad at the time in the WHO wanted to be a DJ. Being BJ and I worked in top forty I worked rock. Up Chess, do sports do that Um. Now I'm in. A whole different field ellen, very happy in my career but. Being getting a chance to do podcasting especially about.

"But now he's surrounded by James, Washington, deontay Johnson Chase Klay poll out even go as far saying Baby Dion Kane, and Ryan Switzer. And you can't. You can't forget about the report factor with Ryan. Switzer to. Then you look at as tight ends. This is the most loaded. He's ever had with tight ends in the. In the promise of Iran in Vance. McDonald. You have guys that can catch the ball out of the backfield. Not Not quite. Would leave you on bell did. Have Jalen, you have a James Connor that's shown that he could really pull in a in the backfield. This farland the. Who's going to get some work in there? And and Benny Snell I'm going to stay. Don't forget. Kobe Hamilton and Thad said, hey, were bay. You know those guys were there in a in seventeen as well? It was Kobi's not I think Kobe was gone Kobe was there in sixteen. And I think he was gone after a Seventeen season, but I'm not sure that's something I'd have to check on that one. Yeah. Something to look at. But I mean good pool though port. I said, they're GONNA put it up there. His car had A. Downstairs and had saved. Jesse? Getting. Scott. that. Ball. Say Jesse James In this house and not follow up with. Jesse James Scott that ball. Thing. You know what my friends were so glad when Jesse, James. Left the team not because it had anything to do a Jesse James, but I broke out my share imitation every time he caught the ball. I. I would do this, and this was even my my team name and still my team named in. In our daily fantasy. League league in the. postseason. Excuse me in the. Regular? season. With A. In a lot of change it, but I would always go just lack Jesse James. I would try to be share and they hate that no-one like that and one guy laugh at me. All right. Finally, I, got something. It's already reads coming back Kobe. Left after sixteen. went to Houston for seventeen. That's right that that is absolutely right. So. Here's question. I've already asked this to you and I want to give him in the live chat. In. Ben. Roethlisberger career it's conscious two, thousand four. Has, he had any more weapons. than he does now. I think he's loaded. I think he's got a full deck in his hand. I would look at this group and say. If it doesn't work. It's not because we didn't have the weapons know we've had years where we haven't had weapons. Where we've had serviceable guys. But not what guys you consider real weapons, he's got weapons this year. No. No doubt about. Lawrence, l'idee think. So I think Ben has more weapons in ever had. They're going to be a match up nightmare for defenses yet deal with. So, that's back to I. Know David, I've talked on stack you. Can. I've with man I want to us go. I WANNA. See US go. Twelve personnel. And see what teams do. and. When the team brings into load up against the run I want us to take our twelve personnel and go four and five. Yeah. Go spread everybody out and throw the ball. You know that could be a match up nightmare for teams because we got a tight end. Hebron. And you've got. You know some physical wide receivers in big wide receivers and? I don't know I can't wait wait. That's why the season better happen. You just did a Bart Scott Kate. Wait get. So. Let's. Let's doubt for Mr. Scott Yeah Absolutely The New York jets. Well I just remember how excited I was. I. Was actually a little. Intimidated for about three seconds on the candidate because all the jets are fired up only. Let them be fired up. All right. Let's let's talk about the defense a little bit. So our expectations on the defense or that, and we talked about this at the beginning show, they're going to start off. Like fire in, they're going to be much better than they were last year and they were pretty darn good last year. So my unexpected expectation is. The defense can't stop anybody on third down. What if that happens? Don't don't scare me. That's that was our problems and seventeen and eighteen couldn't stop anybody on third down. That's what got fixed. That's the main thing I feel that fixed for last year. We started doing a better job getting off the field or even if we gave up third downs, we didn't. There's always turn into touchdowns. Just Yet. Don't scare me. CAN THEY REVERT? If that ends a patent and I'm blaming you. And I just got a bite. Your tongue. Back, from yet Dennis Sheridan I agree with Dennis. I. GotTa Tell. You I'm going to blame your brother because he came up with that one. He came up with a lot of these on the phone with me today but. Says make sure Events Williams on the bank now for for bringing things up. And then end up come true, and they're always his fault then so I think the defense is going to be better. I think it'd be lights out, but are we getting too excited? I mean. Is this a quick was this? Could this be the fear that I have that it's just was just a fixed and a one year aberration. Could it be the same with Chris? Boswell? You know I mean things were so bad and then it went back to awesome again. So you got to pick which one is the good one. I think. said this show Dave that you know I think that we are. Potentially defensively were potentially going to give up some more points this year than we did last year. But some of that could be because. Were nursing big leads in the fourth quarter and give sustained drives in your points up at the end that don't matter. And if that's the case I don't care. Honestly when it comes to the defense. One Stat matters to me..

Philadelphia Eagles cannot have fans in the stands, as per Pennsylvania state order

"Teams have submitted plans for the Pennsylvania Department of Health to allow fans in the stands. The Wolf Administration is not discussing details but discourages Spectators from attending games to prevent transmission of Corona virus. Professional and college sports teams remain subject to Pennsylvania State ordered limit of fewer than 250 people on site for games and practices, meaning that Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football games cannot have fans in the stands.

"Ben Roethlisberger he's cleanly shaven orally she's cleaned it up if you will well the governor of Pennsylvania Tom wolf founded interesting that he went to a barber take even though they were closed to get his hair cut and says Ben really took a took a chance here when you go to something like a barber shop and then you're not protected your who your the the chances of that virus actually wreaking havoc on your life increases I personally think that any Pennsylvania to take that chance I certainly don't want to take a chance on myself and so was more a matter of concern rather than he was angry as a lot of the headlines did portrayed

"pittsburgh steelers" Discussed on Real_Sports: A Snapchat Sports Pod

"Going on now much trying to get to these times. We've also we've been doing this. Podcast for ten months and I like I told you. I'm a diehard ravens. Fan Aves Eagles Fan so we have got no beef got no beef but not a ton. But there's we have Boston Scott on. We've had zero Ravens and now we have a second steeler on the pot. I don't know why I keep doing this myself. We have Benny on. Benny's awesome third. We Oh we had ike. Lhasa retired steeler. We got way too. Many steeler ties here. But we are excited to have you You said you're down in Texas dataman hometowns going for Texas right now. Nice we saw. Yeah let me. Chime in here Jack. So this is what I do with everyone from Texas on our podcast but James did you grow up of the NFL. Like in general aboo. Did you have a year so I'm actually probably two and a half hours from Dallas? So I grew up watching the cowboy. So that's what I was hoping you wouldn't say because every person that we've had on from Texas my first question to them is where you race correctly or however I asked you I said cowboys fan so but now I understand I nine so as my learning you were raised correctly since you were raised a cowboys fan and it was almost like I was raised in to it. You Know Family. Watch it so I'm there to listen. I don't WANNA I don't WanNa dull our audience because the sad story growing up as a cowboys fan and they were good. Listen Man I just did break of the day. I on behalf of the snapback. Podcast I apologize for you being washed. James. I'm curious because I went to ut in you played in the big twelve and you're from Texas when you were being recruited and you're looking at colleges with Texas on your list. What why did you end up where he did so growing up? I actually wanted to go to Texas tech so I had a couple of buddies who season tickets is gonNA take games and not. Everybody popped up on my radar. I mean I've always thought was a good school but I've never really wanted to go there But I went to a few camps at tech. You know they never offered me then. One day out of the Blue Casey Mistake Cosby. Say Someone Stadium and wanted to come up for a visit and they offer them better spot. Yeah never looked back and ran with it yeah and he ran away from Texas. Db's for years to come far. We have a lot of troubles recruiting in state. I don't know why it seems like it should be the easiest part of what we do but we pass up on pretty much anything the big blue blood we are back. Texas has trouble recruiting. It's why we're getting good classes now but we can never actually get pliers. I don't know it's a very interesting such yours. Yeah we do we just never turnout like NFL. Stars like yourself. That's the only difference. That's what we're But being the taxes I know you are a big like Texan ranch left to do that so I had never heard of it but I want to present it to the audience because we talked to Joe read who's from UVA's gone into the draft and he taught me about frog. Gigging is frogging a hobby of yours. It's actually not mine but I I. I'm familiar what he's talking about. So basically you get like a trumpy Jig or something just kind of throw by frogs kind hot like a bug or something no usually just latching onto my huckleberry stuck man. He just pull them in. But my way frog jake and his going out on the bank with twenty to shoot them. Look if I don't eat them. Speaking of eating frogs I went on vacation and over over the new year and I was doing this thing where I was. I was in Mexico when I was like all right. I'm on vacation. I love food. I'm going to try something new at every dinner. I have every night and on the last night I saw frog legs for on the menu now I was like Oh not again knows. They were so fire. They're like chicken. Waste centrally you. Don't eat them yourself. No Man I I couldn't I couldn't make myself why do you? What are the ranch stuff that you do? Because there's a lot of different options. Well I mean you can have homegrown beef You lot of venison deer hunting. I actually just started l. Probably a month and a half two months ago so I got quite a bit of an. Oh Yeah it's it's there's no fat all. How did you know that? Because I'm familiar with me. I didn't realize you're familiar with L. I didn't realize I mean meat. Meat is meat is meat but James so you remind me of one of my favorite players in the NFL Carson. Wentz have you ever discussed the hunting and and farm life? Because he's really big into that too. No I haven't but I've heard from a guy that knows him. Pretty good says he's he's a big dog. Yeah he. He's always posting photos of him with about forty dead. Geese or gear match right there. Are there any team? Two years who are big hunters. I know actually being a big name finished. You're pretty big hundred. There's a I think Dave decastro one hundred to quite a few guys on the team and Duck Devon Hodges too so it was that was he thinking like maybe you have beef because you know he wants no pun intended. He won't. He's the duck he wanted to be like the STAR. Hunter of the team. You thought you are. Maybe he stops targeting you like. Did you have to have that conversation? No we got along. Pretty good we He kinda showed me the ropes under kind of a little bit. But I'm more of a president hunter. 'cause that's about all. I have to do you know one. Football season's over cowed is and Bob Cats but He he wants me to kind of teach them a rope tonight so maybe one day. I'll get them down here in Texas so you brought up pig bad and now he's actually a Anton thing. What is the last time you actually saw? Big Ben Probably in January. Which was the last time I've been in Pittsburgh? Are you aware what he lost like? Oh yeah what's going on with that who you can mistake for in the woods and by accident you know. Have Little Big Ben for dinner. It's cool to be honest with you. I kind of like. I wish I could grow a beard and a lumberjack. Right gene. Something I need to know something because I told you a Benny on so. Tell me something about Benny Smell. That he didn't tell us because he was trying to play. Cool on the podcast so that we can go make fun of him for. He said he said he he makes music. So if you wanted say it's music crash than now but now I have it honestly. I have heard his music. But I've heard Kinda like freestyle with like name's Connor and James Jameson. But he seems to be pretty good but I did hear that. He's like really good at call of duty. Yeah he he wants hype himself. Do you play any KAT. I'm pretty good. I'm all right I guess. Do you think there's any relation twenty million biddy now between like plank hall duty and then actually going outside and shooting animals OFA sued. I'd like to think of myself as a junior. Chris Kyle incredible line. That is unbelievable. I think too I mean man. What about this? This you play call of duty. But I saw a tweet that you were mentioned and you were playing a video game but it was really just a farming simulator where you are literally just like care of the farm but in a video game you want to touch on that a little bit. It's really all I got was farming simulated nineteen and I was playing a game one day and I had my front door unlocked. Zack Benner this walks over there and open my door. And he's like. Oh you're not when I'm like what are you talking about? And he's like you're really farming. Tv What about that was. Yeah I was GONNA say like we all grew up around. Warrenville on facebook was like. You're game yes I did actually play that back when it came out. I play the for quite a few years to pretty good for a while. They kind of got away from it. What makes a good farm? Ooh That's a good question depending on what you're doing if you're GONNA if you're gonNA compare your farm to a player in the NFL in terms of where they're in the Li like if they have room to grow if they're already at their peak. How does one get a good farm and which? Nfl player most resembles your farm. We'll start that right now So really I don't have any like agriculturally it's basically just like you is basically. You could just have five or six Cadillac Day. 'cause most people feed if you've got a pretty good soil composition and the ground you can grow some pretty good grass own. Just kind of a grazing about grace is trying to do this. In my head. Soil and composition underneath the ground. We'll compare that to offensive and defensive lines continue So basically it's like a what do you say this So it's like the nitrogen all that kind of stuff in the ground the minerals. 'cause sometimes you're GONNA have to assault a you'll have their ground but there's ways to fix it. You can put like liquid fertilizer down and it'll help help the grass or whatever you got their growing but ways around it..

"Pittsburgh Steelers at one twenty four take running back Anthony McFarland junior out of Maryland and it's like a healthy he's a good player Pittsburgh Steelers continue to put pieces around Ben Roethlisberger here got a receiver earlier on in the draft out the grab that name for you real quick Mike but another running back here and Eric you bring the tight end in in free agency so put some pieces together around Big Ben yeah and Anthony is a really good running back the only problem is man he's had a lot of down time with injuries he's little short squatty guy he's got good speed out to the edge he was really hard I think that's a part of it man he you know he averaged almost six point seven yards a carry at Maryland noon service that's impressive when you average in almost seven yards a pop running the football one problem is he has had a lot of injuries there and the guy hit would get picked ahead of him Reggie Robinson the second from Tulsa his dad Reggie Robinson play the Grambling then so he's got some Louisiana ties is a Texas kid who's really done well as a long lean corner six foot to her five pound guy from Tulsa but I like that pick up McFarland going to the Steelers he fits what they do nothing fancy about what he does man he's mostly a north south runner but he's got that ability to get away from you out nope and feels well that's a good fit for that offense in the in the power schemes that they run their you know it's a downhill offense always has been always will be

What would be the party? Etiquette for pro. Bowl is the same as the Super Bowl. I know you've already getting the article. Queued up every ear for binding. Steel Curtain Dot Com is able to get the same as super bowl ticket. I'm just curious. It's just show up in the history of my life as is a fan. I have never had anybody watch the proble with me but you always watch stallone. I can't say I've watched every year like the Super Label. and Oh Gosh. It's coming though. We're like ten days away from the greatest day of the year for me. I have been gearing up to because I've been watching pass super bowl. steeler super bowls for the site and I'm a At another publishing those articles. Wow It's glorious if if you get a chance to go back and watch old super bowls. It's awesome Lena This past weekend My parents family was in town. Ams Ams of my brother in my sister-in-law my parents were in and we were just sitting. There is nothing on TV ends. I pulled on the TV. I'm GONNA show you all the greatest drive Dr in Pittsburgh steelers history. Just out of curiosity what Dr did I pull up Brian. I'll start with you. See Right the easy easy. Drive that I'm thinking of is from the ten yard line in Super Bowl forty three. That's right. That is correct guy. I can't think of any now. Granted there might be one from the seventies and I'm not fully aware of because I wasn't alive but at the same time that was people. Forget those a holding call in that thing the first lady but also in right before that say shorting in the end zone Chris Key Moya to withhold no. Yeah harding's it was note Jeff. Harding's was gone our way it was just an Hartwig Hartwig. Justin Hartwig radio. That's the name heaven earn awhile. And then surely after the safety was Larry Larry Fitzgerald splitting the defenders in into the end zone. And everyone's thinking holy cow. You know it was tough about that. But because I love Larry Fitzgerald Fan and I get Larry Fitzgerald and I love Kurt in order and I would have been rooting for them. There'd be that'd be one team that I would do. I would root for an any super bowl. That team with those guys on it. Just just not. When they're playing? My guys is a great story but the steelers Dave quick question. I asked my my dad my brother this Ben should have been the MVP DP that game. Yes and the story. Yeah I do I agree yeah I I just don't understand why he didn't get it. I mean that whole San Antonio had incredible drive data drive was remarkable. But Oh my gosh I it was it was tremendous and is that. There's any year that they could have done koby peas. It would have been out. Have you ever done that before. Yeah really actually. They had three one year for the in super bowl thirteen. The Dallas cowboys had Randy White Harvey Martin and there may have been third. I actually think there was a third. Wow but I know I know Randy White Harvey Morton were. Were the two real quick before we get started with our show in the topic of today's shows shield. Ninety one puts five dollars tipped Good long drive tomorrow. I'll save the Stream for that. Have a good show guys shield. Thank you always for your support. I hope you're enjoying this show on Friday as she let let me say. Let me say Real Quick Super Bowl twelve before anybody corrects me. I realized I got it. Wrong Okay Hey. I took a lot lot of grief for Correcting Jeff on the length of the field goal. Let we were both wrong. It was forty one. Oh it was forty you set forty three hundred forty three and I actually went back to check it. It was forty one. My Gosh was only two guys. It was Harvey Martin I and Randy White and Super Bowl twelve but still co.. MVP's all right. Today's episode headline title is the two thousand. Nineteen Pittsburgh steelers rookie review. It's something that we always typically do during the season and even in the off season we start breaking down the steelers roster position by position. So we do we preview things but we kind of dig into one specific topic into today's going to be the two thousand nineteen Pittsburgh steelers rookie class. So we'RE GONNA go round by round round pick by peg in. We're going to talk about. I know a lot of people say will. You can't judge a rookie after one year and I agree one hundred percent and I'm not asking Dave and Brian anyone in the live chat watching on Youtube to say project where they're going to be in three years. I'm saying how did their rookie season go. You want a great it on an eight F scout scale or do you just want to just give some tidbits about Brian. What are you GONNA do? I think we could give tidbits I really don't think we have to give a grade but if you want you because I I know exactly what Brian go to want to do. He's going to give every single one of them what they should get an incomplete. Because it's very difficult on your rookie year. We can't throw that one out. There they are producer Lance Williams just said great in the live right the ad that we're not but we're not allowed to use incomplete kept using complete. Okay what's relievers anyways. Okay for all right the topic. The Pittsburgh steelers moved from twenty up to ten they trade with the Denver Broncos. Get none other than Mr Devon Bush Bush from inside linebacker out of Michigan. Gentlemen Grade IT You can give some tidbits before you're great but if you're looking at Devon Bush's body of work in two thousand nineteen. Brian will start with you. How would you view it? Well if you look at Devin Bush the fact that they traded up for this guy and they also gave away a pick this year. Your Your number three pick when they're getting ready to pick number three. It's not gonNA be there. It's GONNA be the Denver Broncos and you know why because that's part of your Devon Bush trade. We should be happy with that. Because that's everything you wanted. I saw somebody today. Talk in fact I think it was was an email that That I saw thus one of my other counterparts. Dave Scofield got Saying that that Bush's too small and should be moved aligned. Moved a safety and I'm like no this is. This is everything you wanted out of this guy. He goes sideline to sideline he had. He had a touchdown. This year could could have had another one. But as a rookie. He did more in the La- I mean. I don't know of a rookie. That has achieved more on the defensive side of the ball. Better than Devon Bush Junior and. I'm including Troy Paolo. Malo because if you grade if this was is two thousand four after the two thousand three season you're probably given this guy a C. Minus at Best Chore Paulo. Malo and. We're talking about him. I'm in the hall of fame next week. I had a wonderful rookie rookie year. I was actually surprised the all rookie team and I was surprised that that that He didn't have a more consideration for the pro bowl because he's thought of across the League as one of the future stars on defense so I mean I have to give this guy in a minus. Okay Dave thoughts on Devon Bush be plus not bits has decreased. Now honestly I was teetering between a B. Plus or minus. I said I said I basically said I'm GONNA give whichever one Bryant has it only only because I thought he had a fantastic year and try not hear that he said at one point he was an alternate for the pro bowl. Oh if enough people would have bailed out. I thought there was a report out there that but I'm not sure Only only bad thing about the ravens. I'm not making the Super Bowl. Is a lot of guys. Missed out on that. They could've they could've filled in with them but but once again I thought he had a very good year. I should probably bump that up to a minus because the only reason I didn't give him an a was because of what the steelers steelers did to get him because of the trade up and the no pick this year. It doesn't mean he disappointed me. It just meant that. He has much higher expectations that that I'm going to have from almost any other rookie. And he met almost all of them. There's room for improvement but I thought he had a very solid year ear. And I'm really looking forward to see exactly how they're going to utilize them with with the same thing that Brian mentioned where or someone contacted me about saying he. He's too small. We can't stop the run. He should be a strong safety now. That's not what he feels. It moved up ten spots for him to be a safety. They've moved up to the LINEBACKER. And your your linebackers. Packers have different roles. I really like the Combo of him and Vinnie. BVT together seeing what they can do after Bush now has a year under. There's belt I think the sky's the limit for the Combo wasn't a life. Chances That day just looked Bush was named a pro bowl alternate. So you're correct Yes good stuff. A lot of people are Lance Sir Lancelot is in live Chad. He can he's comparing belted Kendra He's comparing Devon Bush to Kendra Bell Number Ninety seven in That was he was the defensive rookie of the year. Kendra bill had a remarkable marketable yet he season and that was incredible. No one no one saw his ankles not holding up the way that they did he was fantastic. And you know that's the guy forgot about. That was two thousand. One I believe an Casey Hampton was the first round of that year so that was a pretty nice draft. Absolutely I. I'M GONNA give Devon Bush a solid all it be I think he has a ton of potential I think the Mike Tomlin limited him a lot this year not so much the in actually he didn't really hide it. Tomlin said this often in his in his press conferences about with these young players with these rookies. You have to kind of sometimes you have to pull them back rain than in a little bit. And you saw more of Devon Bush reacting in the second half of the season I think that his arrows definitely pointing up. I'll give him a B so we're all on her bed same. The same realm in terms of picks. There's one more thing about Bush he didn't have to do as much because of the presence of Mark Barron also whether you like Mark Barron or not and we're going to have a slew of people in the live chat not saying he's garbage cut him but he was there and he had some very productive games and they were they weren't able to they didn't have to force him into into anything. Because you had Baron as well as Bush. Now you're right. Well good one of the things you got to remember about him. I was trying to pull up one last last thing about him. He led the team.

Eli Manning and the Hall of Fame: The case for and against

"Ally manning thing announced his retirement on Wednesday retiring after sixteen seasons. He's thirty nine years old The giants quarterback who was of course supplanted by Danny dimes. This year but was a rock for for many years is now heads into retirement and it makes sense Meena In fact as a New York I all my friends are giant spans. I was on a tax change just the day before this news broke. And we're talking about that. Allies GonNA retire probably soon. Because when you look at the landscape with all these older quarterbacks on the market and what allies allies been doing the last couple of years. It never made sense that he was going to find a place to start games or perhaps he didn't want to be a backup. So this all made sense but still it. It is the end of an era in New York. I would love nothing more to come in here and defy I. I think what you all know. I'm about to say about Eli Manning I should not be wh- down calls US football cools right. Yeah I would love to say you know what guys you can't tell the story of football without Eli Manning which by the way why why is he the only person who gets that benefit say that about anyone else other than Eli. There's a lot of guys you can't tell the story of football without Aaron Hernandez put them in the hall of fame or if you want to look at pat super we were both. I mean they don't want any of them without dont`a hightower that's a holiday thing. Greg is compared. Eli Manning to know first. Ten Sahal Hyphen reductionist could be just one thing. You consider about a candidate quite well the few want ally in the holly. It's either two cases. One one is longevity. which is I think? A lot of people throw out. Because there's just too many guys who would get in by that and then the other is the two super bowls in the story thing. That's just not about how I would define it. It just becomes an argument. About how do you define the hall of fame. I think in my case against him has always been and yeah. I've been making this case for probably eight or nine years. So this is how long he's been average He's just been averaged entire career. Average in completion percentage yards per attempt. He's actually really way. Below average in the law of the interception categories passer rating these average. He's just for the time he entered the league to the time he left the league. He was an average quarterback over or that span. I I still don't like that being the conversation though when he retired. I we've had this argument so many times that I think we're just tired of it like we've said everything that there is to say about. Eli Manning in the Hall of Famer Eli Manning in general that. I actually was annoyed almost yesterday that that's the conversation when a really great player who was a big part of the league in you know no matter whether he was a top five quarterback no he never was maybe in two two thousand eleven. I went through it once. I think I had him at a top five quarterback one year top ten quarterback only one other your. Yeah that's not the hall of fame but like immediately the second he retires. The entire conversation is like the start of the public hall of fame. Talk which is GONNA be. Never any people are so confident about what's going to happen you don't I know what's going to happen becoming. We were like you know he will be in. It's like you don't know that I think the manning name like this is not a new thought but just that we've talked about royalty and stuff that he's sort of this. NFL Family fixture that. The people voting for this. I think they're gonNa Push Eli Manning right in not maybe. CBS voters down. The conversation depends on who he's against. Though you're really does. Conversation will be never ending for five years then going in. I'm sorry I don't listen you. Everybody discounts counting stats and cory will get too caught up or only point at the two rings and the two superbowl. MVP's but I just think there's something that'd be so if he didn't win those super bowls he's he's not he's not going to have him. I get that but there's something to be said and it's always been feel overlooked both on this podcast aspect in general. Because Eli can be a target. I feel like on twitter that the giants drafted him or the chargers. Technically but the giants Brought him into the team in two thousand four. They put him in the lineup in around October that year and then they never had to think about the quarterback position again for the next ten eleven eleven twelve years and I know things didn't end very well but they should have been thinking about it so when you're when you're talking about right ten years okay I'm GonNa say ten years when you think about other teams about your Brown's Mark My jets so many other teams in the league that go through constant search a churn looking for a guy and you end up with a stop. Stopgap and a rookie. You stinks and then a stop Gat and then another rookie. And maybe you hit on something. Like the SEAHAWKS got Russell Wilson. They don't have to think about anything. Russell Wilson's a better player than the but he eli for ten twelve years. They put him in there. He did his job. He was not spectacular but he was steady. You never had to worry about him getting hurt because he never did. He's the most durable the player ever. You'd never had to worry about him saying stupid something stupid to the media. He always handled that very well. You never had to worry about him. Getting into like a behind the scenes drama with with a coach and exploding and him being at odds and using the media to get a point across and all that stuff he was a Walter Payton Man of the year guy he was a total title. Good Dude and in those playoff runs. Then you factor that in for me. He rose up in historic way. And then just beat. Anybody didn't beat the Jacksonville. We'll jaguars didn't beat a Pittsburgh. steelers heat the Patriots and he'd be Bill Bell Check and he'd beat Tom Brady. And if if that's not something that should be given added points knowing who the Patriots are and what they represent in this era of NFL football. I'm sorry I disagreed to just kind of view that uh-huh yeah beat the Patriots. No he beat the greatest team of all time the greatest quarterback in the greatest head coach. I think that means a lot. His team did right playing. Okay Ah in that Super Bowl. I don't think he would say he had the best game. Even the play he's known for is crazy play. That could never be replicated. The two twenty eleven run is what I remember most fondly. Va Man. I think people kind of forget that won the last game of the regular season that they played it was against the cowboys and then the three league games in the NFC playoffs and that Super Bowl he had a collection of some of the most improbable. Low percentage awesome throws goes for five weeks. Stretch that you'll ever see Joe flacco kind of had a somewhat similar run any add little moments like that the year after they won the Super Bowl two thousand eight. He was really good throughout the year but they didn't win the Super Bowl because if eli manning they want it because of their defense I mean they wanna because of Justin Tuck and he learned of it. It's equally reductive to me to say. They won because of the argue he was part of it took to get into the. I mean the kind of connected back to the HIGHTOWER. No one's out here making a case for hightower you kind of do you. You like to throw this one in. I is the single most important outside of Brady and Gronk like the Patriots. Don't have this run of Super Bulls without dont`a hightower. I think I don't think belongs in the hall of fame but you could every all of the cases were making for. Eli You could just as easily make for like twenty other other random playwright quarterback a case you've made for you. I think is the case. Why he's a great memorable? NFL figure. It's just that's different than in. Our weather also talked about about it forever his position he was not a top ten quarterback. I would say for every year but two of his career. There's no one in the hall of fame you can say they've also said forever. You're in West. You've quoted Vince Lombardi on this that the quarterback it just the most important for a position or a position where the spotlight as and that comes with way. More pressure To it then dot high tower where his position is. I just think what you I was able to do in that spot in those two years is something you can't take away from. I and and say oh he was carried to titles. Because I don't I just don't see it that way. I think you've you stated the case very well. I think it falls shy of the hall of fame. I think if you're a jets fan like Dan or you're the browns fan and you've seen nothing but Ship wrecked chaos at the quarterback position. That the the idea that you would draft someone who would play as Eli did before a PR stunt got him benched you know. Couple of years twelve years of sixteen starts and by the way we are stunned. Got Him benched. He got himself well. That's fine but I'm saying but also the disrespect I just giants fan and you draft draft Philip rivers and he. He did what he did. But you get Eli Manning out of it and you know. He's going to win two super bowls in essentially a total ironman at the position. He's a hall of fame to a lot of giants fans I get. I don't think he belongs to the meeting. Early either reading a story just reading up on allies career. I completely forgot the whole two thousand seventeen. Ben mcadoo where's Ben these days but Jacksonville Jaguars Ben

Super Bowl XXXIX Recap: Patriots vs. Eagles

"The game we most fans remember. Andy Reid foremost is super bowl. Thirty nine and especially how the game finished up in the last six minutes. But let's set things up here just a little bit coming into Super Bowl all thirty nine. Both the Patriots and Eagles were the best teams in their conference. Both number one seeds both had tremendous seasons. The Patriots went fourteen and two that season season as they were looking for their third super bowl title in four years. Obviously Tom Brady was just beginning his run as the greatest quarterback of all time but he'd already established himself as a two time superbowl champion. And so the odds were stacked against the eagles a little bit in the Super Bowl although the eagles were far and away the best team team in the NFC that season having gone thirteen and three really they were essentially a one loss team. They lost to the Pittsburgh steelers in the middle of the season but they had clinched the number for one seat in the conference with two games left in the season and basically didn't play anybody in the final two games and that's why they went thirteen and three. The Eagles probably could have been a fifteen in one team if they'd actually played their starters in the final two games of the season but thirteen and three is nothing to sneeze at and it was certainly good enough to get them the number one seed in the playoffs The Eagles defeated the Minnesota Vikings rather handily in the NFC divisional round and then in the NFC championship game. As you heard me talk about on the last edition of BG and memories when we took a look back at the ten greatest moments in Eagles NFC championship game. History when they dispatch the Falcons pulling away in the second in half winning that game. Twenty seven to ten on New England also had a pretty easy time in the postseason. They won their divisional round game against the Indianapolis Colts. It's twenty two three and then they won the AFC title against the steelers. Forty one to twenty seven. Bill Belichick Charlie. Weis the offensive coordinator at that time for New England Oakland and on the side. Of course you had Andy Reid calling the plays and Jim Johnson The defensive coordinator at the Blitz Happy Defensive Coordinator one of the big story lines. The the biggest story line going into Super Bowl thirty nine was of course the health of terrel owens who was hurt against the Dallas cowboys a few weeks before the end of the season He had A. He broke his leg on a horse collar. Tackle that has now been deemed illegal because of that hit but as the game started getting closer it started to appear as though Teo Jio would be able to get on the field and Tara loans for the Eagles in two thousand and two thousand four was the difference. He took the eagles from being a very very good team. Urine in your out to an almost unbeatable team That season in fourteen games really was just thirteen games because he was hurt early in that game against the cowboys he caught seventy any seven passes for twelve hundred yards and fourteen touchdowns for the eagles that season for the first time in his career. Donovan mcnabb had a true number one receiver seaver to throw the ball to but the eagles offense performed quite well whether well without Tara loans in the two playoff games but to beat the Patriots it was clear the eagles goals. We're GONNA need him and he managed to get. He managed to get back in time six weeks after surgery to repair his broken right ankle. He was on the the field for the start of Super Bowl. Thirty nine Donovan. mcnabb had his best season. An Eagle in two thousand and four mostly because terrel owens was on the outside and he and mcnabb was outstanding in two playoff wins against the Vikings and the Falcons mcnabb had always struggled in those NFC title game but he played very well against Atlanta Atlanta. One or the other storylines that Freddie Mitchell was running his mouth. He came into the game talking a lot of smack about safety Rodney Harrison telling Harrison that he he was gonna have something for him and then in the game you know Freddie Mitchell caught one pass which late in the fourth quarter and Harrison had Two interceptions as we'll get to here in just Dominica and of course the Patriots were looking to officially become a dynasty. They had beaten the rams had upset. The Rams in the Super Bowl three years before they had failed to get back to the super bowl the year after that. But in two thousand three or just after the two thousand three season they beat the Carolina Panthers and one of the most underrated super bowls in NFL NFL history. And we're looking for their third title in four years. Andy Reid looking for that first title after finally getting the Eagles back to the Super Bowl for the first time since nineteen eighteen eighty so that was the setup as the teams gathered on the field in Jacksonville Florida for Super Bowl. "pittsburgh steelers" Discussed on Behind the Steel Curtain

"Show joining me as always the triumphant infantry. Oh that's myself that's Brian. Anthony Davis and Dave Scofield Brian. What's going on? Hello my friends and welcome to a new decade. Then we like Motley crue through a decade of decadence. It's I hate when people say not the Motley crue thing just the the decade thing sounds like it just seems like way too much time has passed. I just I don't like it. Time needs to slow down Dave. What's going on with you? Yeah that Kinda got me depressed a little bit too whenever my kids who who are younger my two older kids that are eight and eleven stayed up til midnight and they were talking about all. What's new decade ten years? I'm going to be this that the other Yeah I'm like in ten years. I just hope to still be here. Who knows these? PODCASTS will look like in ten years guys I mean it could the Perez. The Sky's the limit. But good. Dave how are we just going to say. Look look at Bt Se podcasts. The latte when the last decade started there is no such thing was there. Gosh there was those love. You're that went back and dug up the very first youtube video. That we did did and it was Lance Williams and myself for the standard is a standard. And we did this. I was in my mother-in-law's basement. We were inbetween houses and I had hair la more than eighteen. Hell and it was right after the bears game where the protests took place before the gain in in. Look how far we've come so we'll just say you never know you never know what's GonNa Happen. Let's start off with the around the horn segment. Which is what we normally do? If you're a first time listener to the show where we both taking minutes talk about anything to happen with the Pittsburgh steelers in this past week Brian Usual can sharp and spitting in your vest. Why don't we start with you? Will you know every girl's crazy about a sharp dressed man Jeff in you know First of all I can't wait for the new decade of PODCASTS. Ten years from now lance will be with animatronic figure. That'd be great. I definitely want to see that. I think that'd be a whole fun. you know what's really happened this week. We've had some stuff the hall of fame news but with the steelers. Basically the bottom line to everything is the fact. That Mason Rudolph is your number two quarterback next year and Mike Tomlin Ellen said pretty much. Nothing else You know he's proud of this team. Were proud of this team. That's great but what most of steeler nation once once is due here. What coach is going to be gone and I have news for you? There's going to be no news as far as coaches being being gone. Don't expect to hear anything. What you have is what you're going to see in August and September and beyond Dave? Do you think might be a coaching change. I thought Tom was open to that in his press conference. Yeah I think he's open to that because he just kind of didn't want to. I don't know that he didn't want to address it specifically and by saying he's open to it that kind of leaves some wiggle room in there but I don't see anything major honestly I would like to see if I see anything from it. I would like to see more additions than subtractions. I would really like them to expand their coach. EXPAT coaching staff by a couple of positions. Ya we've had it steelers. Add some coaches coming over the past few years. I mean look at last year. Joey Porter wasn't welcome back They haven't been firing them. They always use the old weller contract. Expired heard stuff like that. The Bruce -tarian retirement the asko which we can all remember that I think there's at least going to be one change. I'm not sure who that will be. But and I don't think I agree with Dave is not going to be major but I think there's going to be at least one change and the coaching staff. I'm not sure who that is. They haven't gotten rid of Danny Smith and yet they're not going to and we've talked at nauseam about Randy Feeder Keith. Others contract is up. Maybe he decided he doesn't WanNa come back or are they going to redefine coach Sherman as something else and have a new wide receivers coach wide receivers coach until he had to step up to exactly exactly. So is he still the interim tag. There's going to be some change a little bit dave to go with your around the horn segment. Well then out. I'll take what Brian alluded to just. Because it's easy that we had another announcement of hall of fame I guess it would be semi-finalist or guest In order to before they do the last cut down the day before the Super Bowl and of the sensor doing special twenty class at twenty twenty they will have their five players and of those I think was at fifteen that were selected. I'm pretty sure that will be five. Out of the fifteen with two steelers. They'll no they'll do for actual thing. But the the the regular players seventy was fifteen which included first-year eligible legible Troy Paulo Malou and fifth year Allen Annika but did not include. One hines ward. who was a who was a semi-finalist last year was he has but This is the finalists will never reach the finalist echelon has not he yes in a semi-finalist as as far ars he's gotten finalists. Basically Yeah Yeah. I can't remember how classified if these are so I- finalists. There are two finalists finalists. Or do they call the finalist inductors. Or do they go duck ds or give confusing with how they say the word you have finalised and then you have your class of twenty twenty. The people that are going to be inducted said this is this this is the spot were Alan. Fantasy has been here now for five straight years and has has been denied every single time. I cannot fathom how they left off last year and it will be interesting to see if he gets in this year. Because I think this year's crop of of players everyone does the numbers. I know. Brian is talking about what they look at all the different players. And he's worthy to be the first player First Dalit getting guys and who's not and would all this stuff so you know what. He failed the swimsuit competition. But the the biggest problem with Alan Fanta is the fact that he has to do. He'll Steve Hutchinson which I actually think that Alan is a better player. A better option in hall in the Hall of fame balloting. Then Steve Hutchinson the problem with that though is if one goes the others not going so if here's the thing if fantasy does not go this year you're hoping you're hoping that Hutchinson goes just to get him off of there so he's he's complete you. Hope he goes in so that that paves the way for fantasy has a hall of fame player. Absolutely I think anyone watched him play would say any nine pro bowl six time first team all pro. I mean that's he. He had. He had better sure he had a better resume. Then one of the players that made it last year as offensive lineman. I don't understand why he didn't make it last year. So awesome politics man politics advice. Yeah right now. The steelers are pumping up Donnie. Shell to be in that to that. What is it what are they calling it this legacy class? And they're putting in ten of them. He's the bear best name out of all of those does he if he doesn't get him with this class there's a lot of people that think there's no chance he gets in. This is opportunity. This is it in which which really bums me out. Because Elsie Greenwood yes. He's better than fifteen of the guys that they had on the list. But they just go to include steeler era which is ridiculous. Well that's what I was going to bring up as part of around the horn segments of tea back. Dave is everyone's pumping up Donnie shell which rightfully so he deserves to be in. But what about guys like L. C. Greenwood also worthy. I mean I don't I don't the steelers can say we're GONNA pump up Donnie Shell and thankfully he's still living. But Elsie Greenwood. Who since passed away? We're we're not gonNA talk about him. We're not gonNA have a twitter clips of Mel Blunt talking about worth. Where's the twitter video of you know? Mean Joe Greene Talkin Talkin about L C Greenwood and playing alongside him on the steel curtain And you guys just touched on that because yeah he is all more. But here's my question. Simple question question and I want you to be honest. It is difficult to take your black and gold glasses off. When I asked this question in I just want an honest honest to goodness answer? It is hines ward. Ever going to get into the hall of fame okay. Brian will start with you if he does. It's a veterans Veterans Committee. It will be thirty years down the road or twenty five years down the road okay. I'm not going to say what I think just yet dave. What about you if I take off my black and gold glasses the answer has to be no if I leave them on? I'm going to say yes. But by taking them out nope by taking them off because he was loved by so many steeler fans but he was hated by so many by basically everybody else so therefore I think that's going to. I mean he didn't have the fantastic numbers that some of these dads that's the key because hatred and stuff doesn't matter trello gut in not was hated by everyone unless he was on your specific team and Hines Ward. Played The game the right way. Some people thought he was a little dirty had a little chip on a shoulder. All the time in steeler fans trust me. I can only think of a handful of players in my lifetime that have had a rabid following like hines ward and it as they call it at Heinz field. The psycho-ward people loved love and still do. Love Hines Ward Hines Ward could be the mayor of of Pittsburgh still or come close to winning it and is just that he doesn't have. Those are those eye-popping numbers to back backup some of the other stuff that he does. He has a rule named after him. You know with the crack back block. He was a super bowl. MVP He won two super bowls. Those are all great great. But if he were to have those eye-popping stats and you will get some of the receivers that aren't in that have better statistics in some would say were better. Receivers than Hines Ward. It just makes it that much more. Daunting I agree with Brian if he gets in. It's not going to be on the regular old ballot Alad. It's going to be as what is that called again Ryan. The Veterans Committee Veterans Committee Correo area. So if you're in a live chat in any I wanna know what you think about that. I WANNA enough. You think that hines ward. Not should he be in any steeler fans going to say that he should but if you're being honest with yourself will he get in. I one of them in there. Well we all want him in there and I know I know but you missed my but my big but that was coming but I just don't think it's going to happen because it's GONNA come down to year year in and year out is they're going to be one wide receiver that's eligible. That's better than him and and has the has the better numbers. That's what you're welcome now too because there wasn't this year was this year Bruce. He make the finalist finalists. Here hold on yet like to see that list One Person Jeff that we didn't talk about in this whole thing thing or two to steal coaches that are that could be among the six. But it's a very big it's a it's a very prestigious list and that would be bill cower and Buddy Parker yes there on the list for the.

"Also from bt SC. Tony how are you I am doing well. Brian how are you. How was your trip back? I tell you what Tony Is. What Tony's doing right now is he is referring to the fact that I made my inaugural inaugural trip to my inaugural two thousand nineteen trip to Heinz field? Yesterday and I went with Dave Scofield met up with Tony Jeffey so for the first time we first time we ever met in person it was like you could hear like we are the world and the speakers around as we embraced for the first time and Literally kidding I'm like Tony. I'm giving you a hug. I'm so glad But Yeah I got home at five fifteen this morning because as you know I do look in. I do live in Maryland. So I'm a I'm a little Bush but feeling good and I'm going to bring this up here to that. Nine hundred and sixty three says bad. You look good for getting home so late. I appreciate that and I got a mentioned and Mr Nap. Nine hundred sixty three a good fan of the show David. I had a chance to hang out with he and his family and his friends in the Great Hall. Aw and it was an absolute pressure pleasure. It is so nice to meet more Pittsburgh steeler fans and France in our BTC group We hope hope to do it again. We hope to do it again next year to as well of stared at a love. This bad looks awful. Cold hold arriving that the game. I had seven layers and then he drove home in the snow. And I look at Dave Scofield. I said look I gotta pull all over I gotta get some of these layers off because wedding So here's the deal. We're talking about a hangover and we talk talk about that game. Did Not go the way that we wanted. And Maximum McCormick is asking for this bad. I need a pick-me-up me up king. And that's what we're here for because we are your steeler support group and that's that's very important thing for for us to be together and celebrate and revel when we win and when we lose go ahead and take care of each other as well. Oh so that's what we're GONNA do today. We're GONNA talk about this game we're GonNa talk about the state of the steelers going forward. I promise you Maxwell Oh I'm GONNA pick you up pick all of us up and let you know what we're looking at going forward because hey this is a bump in the road of very weird and unique season and we've seen seasons like this and one thing I'm going to say about this season so far is it is completely against the script. We we had no idea whatsoever that we were going to be talking about guys. Like de la Hodges in white and even deontay Johnson at this point. We thought we were talking about Ben Rothlisberger James Connor and Juju Smith Schuster. So that's that's really what we're looking at so there's so many things to talk about but I wanNA talk about once again support of the show. And how do you support us. She asked us all all the time. Well we can support us by going joining the live chat and just talking to us if you want to go ahead and throw in some money in the super chat. It goes and pays for or stuff like microphones. which were we're not getting? I haven't gotten mine yet. But the other fellas have it's it goes to go ahead and pay for contest test which we just gave away. David decastro football as well But also gets you to the front of the line with your question and we'll go ahead and answer your questions a little litter on in the show. But the best way to support us is go ahead and Lance Williams always says tune in and tell a friend and subscribe. And so we just ask you to go ahead and subscribe ringing that Bell so you get notifications and like this podcast. Ask others forty-five on here right. Now Give us thirty five likes in. Let's get going but here's the thing the big thing is we're we're here to talk about the steelers and what we need to do to go ahead and go forward. Hey this season is not over Tony. Let me ask you this us with two games to go or the Pittsburgh steelers currently if the season ended today or they play off team. Yeah yeah they're they're still a number sixty day really damage their Their playoff chances. That all that much by Losing yesterday but it was a sad reality. They can't make those kinds of station and beat anybody so hopefully. It was a wakeup call for them. So Eric Could Jason this. She says time to beat up on the jets. And so that's what that's what we're going to go ahead and look at we're GONNA look forward. We're going to get through what happened yesterday. I and the question is right now. This is a playoff team. Got Some gifts yesterday from from other teams and some of the gifts that we received were the Tennessee. Titans losing at home to the Houston Texans who they played again in week week. Seven the Jacksonville. Jaguars went to Oakland. And beat the raiders which that means they're pretty much out Arizona cardinals. BEAT THE CLEVELAND Browns. So they're out not that they were a big threat but these guys are out now. So you're really looking in a seven teams trying to get into a sixteen field. Adam Lewis is the titans are favored more than fifty percent to go ahead and make it over the steelers lers now so this is where it gets a little tricky. And I'm going to ask for some help on this as well but two games left for the Pittsburgh steelers. You GotTa Win Those Games. Don't if you win those games you're in November so there's nothing keeping them out if they if they win out there in so let's talk about the steelers I and when we're talking about the steelers were saying they've got to go to New York and beat the jets or Jersey meadowlands. I'm not there's no call the meadowlands. It's met Life Stadium. I understand that but it's still in that area and Then we've got to go ahead and talk about what the titans have to do. Now if the titans lose next week against the saints at home it's not over because ause they would have to really really if they win that game next week. That's that's not a not a big deal as much as they've gotta lose against the Texans they've gotTA lose another conference game so that's where it gets really weird so steelers. They went out there in so they control their own destiny. I need this time. But here's the problem. And it's also the title of the show. Is the offense of the Pittsburgh steelers playoff-caliber playoff-caliber or they postseason worthy. And that's the problem. They showed some flaws like a it provoked thoughts. That's like this duck showed some flaws yesterday but if they game plan to what he can do well and he doesn't force beat ball we can win. OC OC has to game plan running the ball at least sixty five percent of the time and I believe I saw something up here from Michael Tool and he he is right to. We lost because we ran fifteen times for fifty yards and the bills ran thirty eight times for one hundred and thirty bills play late. We have been playing in feet and put the Game Indus- hands and we all see the result. That was a horrible game plan yesterday. This does not now. This does not take take the take the onus off of Devon Hodge Devlin Hodges had a bad game. But here's the problem. It's like this. Listen war it's like this any game you play if you get tipped off on something and you know something's coming you and you can predict it. You can stop it. The bills were tipped off on everything. Because the Pittsburgh steelers Randy feeder. They tip off everything. When you see Zach banner and Johnny Houghton Come in the game? You know it's not going to be a pass. Yes you know what's going to be a run in when you go run. Run Pass Credit Dave scofield because Dave has been harping on this for a long time. Now when you see banner come in you pretty much know that it's going to be a run so you're telegraphing everything. When you see that wildcat come in here I'm not staying being scrapped? The wildcat and put it away forever. But what I'm saying is you've got to go ahead and bring in one time in the third quarter when when you're already you already have a game plan established so it was really weird Isaac Aguilera puts five dollars into the tip charts. How do you dress five running backs and running fifteen times? They set up. Tuck for failure. Look look they did like. I said it still doesn't excuse. Ducks play but they knew he was passing in those situations allegations and they can just sit back and wait for it and he is you and I made this. I don't want to call it an excuse but I made this case for Mason Rudolph to when he was playing. Would you know what he's doing. And you have a young player that is still waiting to go ahead and get established. You know. It's a lot easier to go ahead and predict what he's doing and to be able to stop them so when you go ahead and put him him in a situation where you. You've got a young player that I mean with the pedigree of with the lack of pedigree really at this point line of then. You know that you're going to be able to stop Michael o'malley says this and he is absolutely correct. Five Live turnovers and lost by seven. The D. is legit. Need the offense to mature. Tony let me ask you this. Let's go ahead and take a look at the offense and we've already talked about game plan and I know you agree that the game plan was ridiculous. The I know you agree that they need to run the ball more and we agree that Devlin Hodges charges whoever's put in that position whether it be Mason Rudolph whether it be Paxton Lynch and let's not be pining Paxton. Let's be looking for a change right now. Now but let's go ahead and talk about that offense who's the biggest problem on this offense or what part of this offense is the biggest problem. I just think it's it's a injuries number one but then but to your point about the game plan a and you got your your your horse running back back yesterday James Connor back and and you only two as Mike o'malley said you only run fifteen times the whole game ain't it doesn't make any sense. The game plan defied all logic. So I I'm GonNa say I'm GonNa say injuries are the biggest factor but but your your offense coordinator and and I don't like the Tyrrell against the coaches especially fichtner this year with all the problems he's had to deal with but it just defied logic to you're going against an elite pass defense with an elite cornerback. trae white and you throw thirty eight times and you run it only fifteen times. It just did not make any sense so I say right now. Number one is injuries and number two would be the for sure. I love how Dennis Ceratin says is turned four string rookie quarterbacks who are not up to NFL varsity play yet. That's kind of what the problem is here. A lot of people are saying this we we just we just saw it. I didn't read it but we saw it from nap. And Adam saying lot of eight-man boxes in the last game I would have really liked to see audibles from the duck. That's that's interesting interesting as well to..

"Worth war yes twenty one. It's like you're rooting for it. I mean it's been twenty straight games. Of course I must say they go turn it over you know. Some people would argue the opposite worlds but twenty one and the odds it'll be another the game they're defying. It's all the time. Just turn it over early. Hopefully it's not a scoop and score or pick six but this is a game where the the defense has to give them extra possessions and they have to turn it over if they don't turnover is going to be tough sledding for the school because they I mean they they really handled Baltimore pretty well. They play Baltimore's run. Well I mean they had a couple a great plays on a coverage bus to. I think it was hating hearst. who was out the gates on that that touchdown but they played Baltimore really well? Yeah that was also at home. So let's What about penalties Pittsburgh penalties? "It's year six or seven hundred l Joining me as always is my boy Lance Williams lands. I just wanted to say that somebody and I don't know if the live chat I I get every comment on our youtube channel said to me e mail and I've look over. Everything similar went back and found our very first youtube video. I had I had longer hair you refuse to have your face be shown was just like yours. Yes yes yes remember. What did awesome? Wouldn't show my face to we had a thousand subscribers. Yeah and here we are. We're on the verge of five. Hey in two thousand seventeen. And he's gotten better. Yes I would not. Yeah I remember that I just had an emblem upfront mother-in-law's at the titles awful you you don't you just said that in the first few minutes of this I'm GONNA so they don't listen. No no all all right. Let's go back and check the tape speaking of something in your head though. Let's say you got some Duck Dynasty at all Lynn on duck. I got the campus. You see them trying get it right. I got the kind of dim in my background but I got the CAMMO hat. Get the fresh camel lid. I'm all in on Duck Dynasty Baby Duck. Doc I trust Greg crack and crack lack. All right It's an exciting time for the Pittsburgh steelers in to be a fan of the steelers dealers. Such a crazy season. It's been a lot of fun I WanNa ask you a question before we get to the Arizona thoughts and this is something that Oh i wanted to talk about. I actually actually did a do articles for every ton of articles for binding so curtain dot com. But I did one I. It's called the steelers think tank in. It's basically I think of a question. I think it'd be cool for people people to discuss it and so I read an article around it. Then they have the comments action to hash it out and the other one I did yesterday. Tuesday had a lot of comments. Probably seventy comments. It's by when all is said and done. And here's the question lance if the steelers don't make the playoffs how do you view two two thousand nineteen the two thousand nineteen season in general that. That's a very interesting question and I'm going to answer it the way I see most people answering and then I'm going to give you my answer. I think most steeler fans are going to see it as a positive given the circumstance I think most dealer fans say it's a positive given the circumstances given the fact that they're playing who a guy who was essentially Salihi their fourth string quarterback. They're starting quarterback is a dash. Yeah that just happened to have a nickname. So his name could be duck dash just legitimately so I think most fans would see it as a success. They thought the season would be you know foreign twelve. I probably said for twelve twelve. Show three hundred thirteen after being got hurt it. was you know. Jump off the bridge. One of the numerous bridge in Pittsburgh to Clementi Bridge any bridge. You WanNa choose asked what I think. The fan base was thinking but I think the fan base is going to be positive about this season because of of the turmoil that they've gone through with the quarterback position. I think they'll see the season as a positive now. Think that's one way you could look at it however I choose to frame it in the Lynn's of championships because I'm the ultimate spoilt steeler fan because I'm of the age where I was alive when they got all six right. I mean a from Pittsburgh side. I've lived through all six of those things and I I pretty much can only look at the season through one lens. Either you win it or you don't and so if they don't go to the playoffs they they don't compete for a championship for me. It's a disappointing Caesar regardless of the circumstances but I think a majority of the fan base will see the season. There's a positive in a surprisingly the article that I wrote. I checked in on the comments. And things like that and shockingly. Most of the people were like so you said positive but at the same time I still think a lot of those people still view the steelers as sitting in prime position to make the playoffs. And so I think in the back of their mind. Hi there expecting that playoff berth. But if it doesn't happen I think that the tune might change But when you look at the grand spectrum of this season and as you mentioned all the stuff that went down my goodness it's remarkable that they're even in this position right now. Let alone on the verge of a potential playoff berth. So I just studies really interesting. I wanted to get your take on that Well let me add something Jeff Jeff and we were gonNA talk about it later show but I figured we'd talk about it now. We we gotta give some Kudos to Kevin Colbert and the coaching staff for one developing players. Ever Kevin Colbert identifying players like karat white like Superman Dean. Cain like identifying guys like that off the waiver wire off of other teams practice squads and not only identifying talented guys but the coaching staff didn't getting those guys ready to make contributions on Sunday and we've seen contributions from both those players so I don't know if I talk talk about it and you guys might on other shows I don't I don't give Kevin Cobra his just do and I and I think Kevin Colbert is one of the best in the business and I think it shows unless even extended to you know him. Getting out of his comfort zone is going to get fitzpatrick. So a lot of this stuff that Kevin Colbert has done this year. Here put the Pittsburgh steelers in position to really go after this playoff spot so You know in this Christmas holiday season I want to give a big shoutout to Kevin Cobra for doing a fantastic job might be one of the last few years that he's around here so it's about time that he gets since just do you know it's it's it's great. He say that and I I xe a kind of brought it up A few times when talking about free agent acquisitions there's people like You Know Ed Bouchette of the athletic. I'm not a fan of who you know. bashes their decision making off the field as Oh another you know looking at a book kid with dairy screen screen. Look at Morgan. Burnett look at I can't remember Dante Moncrieff. All these failed free agent acquisitions and it's like well. Are you forgetting getting Steven Nelson. He's he's panned out or you forgetting about bringing in a guy like Mike Hilton. He's paying now. I mean we as a society I understand tend to glean lean and lean towards the negative but I always say you've people's occupant. Yeah Hey talk bad about me and you couldn't hater helmer you have these. There's even People Lina this. I've said this when they traded the first draft pick for Mega Fitzpatrick. I said the steelers weren't that good of drafting the version anyways. Because you will get already Burns Cottrell Edmund. To a lot of people think could have been in there around two maybe three but at the same time people also and if you're in the live chat and you're in the comments section of behind the curtain to come I read these comments myself. You could go back and review articles when they drafted TJ Wa in the first round. There were a lot of people thought it was a reach. I am not making that up. Because a lot of people thought at the time he hadn't played defense his whole collegiate career he was very rough around the edges. He was very. We both do pre lake and the fact that he was a combine superstar in the combine. Really pro push up his drastic. There were people that said They were upset that they didn't get David to joke. WHO's now at the Cleveland Browns? He's never able to play because he's always hurt. There were people that bash them because they thought TJ while was re sometimes. They know what they're doing and no one not even the ma- genius the mad cheater. We'll talk about that. Later of of a New England hits hits on all cylinders all the time. Think about people that they've signed that haven't panned out in free agency. Think about these draft picks that don't pan out trust me people it's it's an in in perv imperfect science but several. GM's in several coaches have done it well enough for the long haul Colbert's one Tomlin's another be happy be happy because when he's gone might be different. Yes it could be so okay. Kudos to Kevin Colbert will leave it at that. Now let's talk about the Arizona Game Lance. We always like to go back before we move forward and we talk about the steelers won Arizona. We talked at length about that in our post game shows. Go back and check that out on a youtube channel as well as in audio platforms it after having a chance to watch the film and I know you did. What were some of the takeaways from that game a week fourteen? They played a very solid game In in all phases they got the special teams touchdown. I thought they ran the ball effectively in spots. What's I thought? Devlin Hodges played his best game I think he took care of the football. He made sound decisions. They have morphed into and we're going to talk about it. You know on the show later to what their identity is as a football team and I think they played too that there were some mistakes there of course they continue the turnover street to get to an NFL historical record number of twenty historically. I think it's I think it is a record I think. NFL NFL record twenty consecutive games. I'm sure if I'm wrong. Somebody in the live chat will pointed out. But there's one number that I wanted to point out It's the number one hundred hundred thirty five. I meant to say it on our post gain Devlin. Doug Hodges had a hundred and thirty five net yards passing. And you know I always want to give numbers to you. Know the CO EDITOR OF BEHIND STEEL CURTAIN DOT COM Dave Scofield does to outstanding Stagich Geek. Show with his brother rich. I wanted to give him that number and I and I challenged him to find out. What is the win? Loss record for. Teams Games with their quarterback has a net passing yards of under a hundred and fifty it. You can't win a bunch of games throwing for under a hundred and thirty about one hundred thirty five yards. So that's just a Kudos to how well that defense is playing but at some point in time as as they move forward you know that net passing yards. You know it's going to have to go up a little bit. He's going to have to make a few more plays but as we as it is now. They're playing linked to what I think. Their identity is in their winning football games. You always say I mean when you win. It's tough you win and correct correct but at the same time. It's tough to really criticize when they're winning. These games this way. Is it sustainable. That's the ultimate question. That's insane aboard. Title one hundred thirty five yards net passing. I mean that is I mean. That's well but let's be honest what we're really talking about isn't net passing talking. Yeah I can defense play well enough to keep them in the game where one hundred thirty five net passing are good enough to win it correct. I mean that's that's that's what you're putting it up against. Can they keep the Games close enough to where the quarterback in the offense can make limited plays a limited amount of place. Yeah it and that's that's what they're going to have to do. Oh.

"The Pittsburgh Steelers he is the toast of every locker room in this league for his he went in there and he laid it on miles Garrett he has been suspended three games himself for his actions in coming to the aid and defense of his quarterback folks this was so bad if this had happened on the street if somebody had been beaten with a weapon of the size and weight of an NFL helmet that person would be in jail there are others who are urging the Steelers to file criminal charges against the Browns it is said that Mason Rudolph's agent is considering criminal charges against miles Garrett number ninety five of the Cleveland Browns it was so bad I was fully expecting when I watch the video does full expecting to see police officers on that field to break this up yeah every NFL team has security if you've paid any attention and they they wear either yellow wind breakers are usually yellow and they surround the field and they are there they never watch the game their eyes are constantly on the crowd they are there to make sure that the crowd doesn't storm the field or the crowd doesn't throwing start throwing things weapons or whatever they might have I fully expect the security staff at that end zone to come out and get in the melee but but they didn't I am the referee is lost control of the game because it was filled with questionable here that were unnecessary throughout the game and as I say yet rivalry Steelers rounds with these players there but nothing was on the line in this game neither of these teams is going anywhere in this season so it's inexplicable and I would love to know what's up miles going off this is not common I would love to know what happened Garrett has not set and what it was all he said is the usual that's not who I don't know it's not who are was will never happen again blah blah blah something set him off something had to happen I don't know if Rudolph sends something I don't know if the scrum that happen before this that Rudolph and tried to get Garrett's helmet in his hand something happened and I would really love to know what it is because I think knowing that will explain what had because it's not rivalry isn't the game was over and the Browns had no there was no chance of going to lose the game there was no way that was given was literally no reason for this there had not been any action by the Steelers during the game the cause pent up frustration and reciprocity if anything it had been the Browns who had been behaving during the game that would warrant the Steelers doing something in retaliatory mission like this so it's really curious to me what happened and something happens something set Garrett off something I'm I have to Janice Steelers fan but ever since I saw the Browns run hard knocks on HBO I think was last season and I have the Browns have become my second favorite team I have really been hoping that they would do well and I have the guy really did fox I have the highest hopes are for any kitchen I hope the guy who had never done it before could come in and do the job I really hope that a guy who had never been a head coach before could come in and build on the successes of last year but it hasn't happened the Browns of underperform they've come no where near meeting expectations I'm not even talking about the pre season the preseason hype was when they traded for Odell Beckham I mean that's when everybody lost all my god this team center for the Superbowl and they haven't performed anywhere near a super plant from anywhere near their potential this year yeah I read some of the craziest stupidest play calling on the ends on thank handle a Reds on a federal lousy red zone performance they've got the potential for an unstoppable offense and it never has materialized and maybe that some of the frustration but they were winning this game was never played the game was in the band it was over so the NFL suspended miles Garrett minimum the rest of the sea I think the Browns need to cut it they cut a player yesterday Antonio Callaway who was a rookie last year he was arrested for marijuana possession last year during the preseason they stuck with him they gave him a chance Sir a little bit of suspension came back had a halfway decent year last year then he started showing up late for games this year and missing meetings they sing them that he's got a ten game suspension the league announced a ten game suspension for substance abuse or obviously found his way back to the weed and the Browns cutting before the game yesterday they've got a lot of wide receivers they can cut and tell me Callaway if they're gonna cut Callaway for being late and for having problems substance abuse them I don't know how they don't cut miles Garrett something's gonna happen here because you should have seen the tweet of NFL players watching the game to a man not of a move ever seen anything like it and so I yeah it does it is it is it a trend is it an indication of where the leak is going it's I don't know that's why I would really like to know what sparked this I'll rise it was a series of things that happened during the course of the game and it all just kind of blew up with one's final stroke of a pen or non on now there's got to be something more than just a simple progression of perceived injustices during the game there's much more to this than that you go back to this old adage of coaching you either culture or yell let it happen and the brown is one of their big problems has been a total lack of discipline on the field and they've been allowed to get away with it so there has to be something here that because this and they'd better find if the if we never told what it is they better find out what it was because I don't think it's about my my guess is it's not something just specific to this game I hope that's all I hope I'm wrong about that but I you know I I I wouldn't I wouldn't have a problem with a lifetime ban they have got to make sure this is not the big getting of any kind of trend this has to be shut down and there can be no doubt about the intolerance they've already got a problem in this game with perceptions on the part of fans about what's going on out there in the field so they've they've got a they've got to get a handle on this and quickly quick time out will continue with much more right after the.

"This show is recorded on Wednesday. So you're listening to it on Thursday or Friday. This is an old injury report but this is the one we have right now The following players did Nov practice but because of injury several that were not injured related. There need to talk about Roosevelt. Next did not practice with the knee. Mark Barron those. Not Injured Related Benny snow with Andy. We knew about that. Trey edmunds at the bridge. Did Not practice and Ryan switched over. The back did not practice. I've got a hunch Brian I've got a hunch that we might have seen the last of Ryan Switzer this season really. I don't know what it I. Read an article on the Tribune interview. One of the The rookie of the practice squad running back they brought up this past week has done returning has been returning kicks. I guess he has experienced return. Or Man Brooks James. I think it is something like that something like that but I I'm thinking to myself okay. He's returning kicks in practice. This switzer's little banged up. They're going to need the running back hell because we know that Trey Edmunds item. Might not be ready. Maybe maybe Switzer goes on injured reserve with this Phantom backslash ribs injury and that's the end of the season and maybe it's time that this I don't know maybe I'm I'm I am kind of in conclusion mode today just like I also the conclusions they signed Sutton Smith to the practice squad today. They did it for or a fullback not for linebacker They're Asante because Roosevelt next missed practice with the knee. Mike Tomlin's Eddie aggravated his knee. They WANNA have a full back on the roster. They don't have a fullback on the roster. He has experience in their system. Elise the small amount being full-back said they bring him back and if they have to promote they promote it. And if you need to promote him you give Ryan Switzer on injured reserve builder. Yeah now I just saw this dealers problems let me ask you. I love that I mean actually. That is very wise in fact if you can do that for baseball you can hire you for the pirates. Tyrant's the general manager. I I would actually vote for that. Let me ask you a question about this whole Sutton Smith thing because I really read into what today was he left. Go from Jacksonville or did he. They sign him off. Jacksonville's practice squad and he's available. There was no report of them There was no report of he was being taken off another team's practice squad. Hello Listener. I'm Sean Ramos. Firm host of today explained Fox's Daily News podcast every.

"He's the defensive quarter recorded enter but is he or is he the outside linebacker coach. What is he? We Know Austin's in the house. What is he? We don't really know but we know we have an offensive coordinator right now. That's really not because you think he was calling those plays as I was going to those plays and that's going back to my old rant. I just say maybe it's time he's a super nice guy but maybe it's time to go ahead cut the ties on that. Because if I'm not doing my job at my real job they're going to go ahead and say hey we're gonNA bring in somebody that's actually going to do the job just because somebody likes me isn't enough to keep me. I could be a great guy at work until really funny jokes around the water cooler but at the end of the day. If I'm not producing I gotta go. Now you're right. Maybe he is on the hot seat a little bit and it'll be interesting to see. I don't think they're going to do anything. MIDSEASON although although I think but At the end of the season you know how do they. He might be pinned to to Ben. In other words Ben's future and feeders teacher feature might be tied hand in hand. So let's talk a little bit about the upcoming game coming up this Sunday. Four twenty five eastern time Los Angeles Rams mm travel across country on the steelers are eleven and five hundred Tom. I believe playing West Coast teams at home in the most recent game. It was a loss to the Seattle seahawks losses. They have Brian. I believe that they have. I believe to inside joke. Oh give what is zoned out last week preview but yeah the Seattle seahawks have two losses and they still have two losses. I WANNA go over the injury. Sure report quickly..

"Gay manager when he was when he was learning his learning his trade as well. But Neil O'Donnell is the third he is the the third ranked passing in passing leaders in Pittsburgh steeler history and he had some good years for us. Forget about what happened in the superbowl. Forget about him being a sell out all that stuff the mafia by forget all about that that stuff what I just remember where he was and where he ended up as being a appro passer I could see that with Mason Rudolph with not the extra stuff that the bad stuff that we remember about. O'Donnell that we're forgetting about some of the good stuff. But this is not about O'Donnell this is just what Rudolph can do. And so it's GonNa take time for him to grow into the upper echelon of a quarterback but he could do that. I guess for me when everyone loves to talk about Mason Rudolph whether you love him or whether you have reservations about him it all comes down to your expectations of him and I don't look at him as some people when they think of the heir apparent to Ben Rothlisberger they think I I think. Sometimes they're kind of brainwashed into thinking he's like a top pick. The Guy was a third round draft pick you know he was not a teams first round draft. Pick in so with that. That right away should temper. Your expectations is a little bit and realized that this guy fell to the third round for reason now we all thought those are very good value. Pick at the time but at the same time he wasn't a day one draft pick and so with that again. Set your expectations there. Secondly he's only started five games in his entire life so I don't understand where people were time he's reading the field. Well Blah Blah Blah. He doesn't have the anticipation he's got three receivers open. There's a very small. All amounts of quarterbacks that have played football the national football league to walk in the door. I could do that right away. And then some people said I got an email from someone this past week. After the post game show said well. Oh my gosh of Mason Rudolph what did you not playing college. Playing against defenses Have you watched big twelve football. Recently there is no defense defense literally. There's basically they're playing seven on seven football big twelve. I want to say one year heads zero defensive players drafted in the national football league so when he played it Oklahoma state in the big twelve. No there wasn't a lot of defense that he had awad. They really focus on so he used to put all this together. And so is he the the answer at the quarterback position when RAF asperger's done. I'm GONNA follow the. I'M GONNA tow the company line if I worked the steelers and save what Mike Tomlin said. We don't know yet we don't know he's played five games. He's been up he's been down. We don't know yet period so I I liked base and Rudolf. I think he's very hey good professional. He handles himself well. I think he has the look of an. NFL quarterback but at the same time no one knows no one knows. And that's kind of what's really intriguing about this season for me. Is that every week when you go into it. You have the prospect of seeing something like wow this is this could be really good it you know so. We'll see Brian. What are your thoughts? My thoughts exactly. We need to see him grow. And you know you you brought up big twelve. I watched a lot of West Virginia Games over the years. Defense is I don't even know where they get these guys to play defense and they make in these receivers are so much better so let's let them grow and let's remember that there's a learning curve. A this is the number one pressure position in football. You're called a quarterback for a reason so I mean so he comes in you you. Everything else is as a quarterback on defense. He's the quarterback of the power. Play at hockey Everybody's talking about the quarterback in business. He's our quarterback quarterback is the leader leader. It takes a while you just don't come in after five games and light the world on fire and if you do a lot of time. It's not sustainable. So so these are the growing pains. This is he's the Mike seaver right now of the National Football League. And if you don't know who Mike seaver is. He's from Kirk Cameron from growing pains. And I'M NOT GONNA go into the theme song I know a lot of a lot of you WanNa hear me sing. I'm not going to do that but I'm just saying let them grow. And realize that the you have a potential really good player and so we'll see the two thousand nineteen season season. If I were to sum it up in the one word it's intriguing. It's the trend. And that's that's it for me. And I say that as a website editor and writer because intriguing bins traffic. At times you know there's different facets of this season Ben Rothlisberger goes down Mason. Rudolph comes in they trade for makeup. It's Patrick David Bush. They traded up to get him in house he playing. There's a lot of intriguing factors on this team but debris now suddenly bouncing back and showing. What he's capable of of Chris? Boswell literally bouncing back at me. It's easy and so it'll be interesting to see Doing a savings of five five dollars and a tip jar from X.. Any be says his Rudolph just needs to be good not great. We have to pay the defense I I I would agree with that. They don't need Mason Rudolph to go out there and win most games. What they have to do is hope that he goes out there and doesn't lose games and I think that's the offense in philosophy from Ray beefeater probably passed down from Mike Tomlin when it comes to the game plan and I think the Brian you and I both agree that were hoping that that slowly changes that the see release get a little bit longer with Mason Rudolph as the season goes on yes? We watched the lease get along with Ben Roethlisberger and every other guy that came through this system we watched the leash. Be taken off of a guy like Terry Bradshaw and put back on the bench before he finally got it together so quarterbacks just a different animal well into a you saw against the colts in week nine they come out into no they around the no huddle. They moved the ball down the field rather quickly and then all of a sudden they go away from it in wisit they never revisit the no huddle again on. My guess is that they practice that sequence. They got the ball first. They ran the no huddle it was effective. Hopefully it's one of those situations -tuation where the this is kind of like. Wow that works. Maybe we can revisit that use that as a as another weapon in our arsenal so to speak steeler fan number seventy four ses. Jeff do you think the offensive scheme still needs. Adapt to Mason. Yes and no I mean at this point in time. I think that where he is in his career. You have a good feel for what he can't do well In other words right now throwing between the numbers down the field is the struggle for him. So you're not gonNA dial Kawada passes but it doesn't mean that eventually he won't get there. I think what they should be doing. Now is getting comfort a rainy feet or should have a good comfort for level with Basic Rove is for what he likes to do. Running plays out of shotgun running plays in the red zone that are added this formation. It's that's where I'm hoping to see. The offense continue the trend and it has trended in the right direction. They knew the ball better. The only issue was recently at the Red Zone as they've struggled and I love my Tomlin Onlin that his question was during the press conference on. Tuesday what is the reason reasoning behind these red zone issues and he started. He's really rewards. Because you don't have your starting quarterback out there you know. That's one of the reasons event. Rothlisberger is a fifteen year veteran. And he's seen all the different defensive alignments indeed defensive coverages and he knows what plays GonNa work here and all that whereas Mason Rudolph does not that so I think that the offense sense does need a Taylor around what Rudolf does but I feel like they should already have that Gio Brian. What are your thoughts on that? I think it's getting better but I think the the The offense needs to adapt the two thousand nineteen. And what is this run. Run Pass late in the game. Run run pass run run pass. Yes predictable won't thirty eight. Wow I bet she's going to pass the ball on third and eight in the red zone so that's kind of. I still think it's unimaginative times but I think they're doing a lot better tailoring to Mason Rudolph game so I'm not complaining about that anymore. I just still want some imagination. I think it's still aww generic I think sometimes a thirteen year old playing madden. Could come up with a more imaginative game plan. Then what Randy Femur Hitler does not a Randy Feeder fan at all. No because he was never a hired to be anything more than a quarterback coach. Jeff he is not the offensive coordinator. There was hired the offensive coordinator is Ben Rothlisberger. And now he's not. They didn't even interview view anybody. They didn't even post the job. It was just like okay. We got our Haley's gone. We've got our new. Oh See. That's that's who ben wanted and we have to keep the franchise is quarterback happy now Benz hurt. And now you have a guy that is generic. I don't WANNA use Vanilla. Vanilla is very rich flavor. I don't even want to call this vanilla because I love something. Vanilla Vanilla Coke is awesome but ice cream is actually pretty good especially French for in our at this point. This guy is not vanilla. That's too nice to Koa. He's generic he is blah. He's land. He's he's watching English Downton Abbey with my mother-in-law that's what he is he's boring. It's tough to I can't disagree with you. I can't disagree with you. I I definitely do think that they need to have. I wouldn't say fire the guy would you. I called for it on a point counterpoint. Not Too far back dude. You know I know they're not going to go out and get whizzing hunt. I know they're not going to go ahead and make a change L. style but let's go back in time to two thousand thousand twelve. I believe it was and Cam. Cameron was the offensive coordinator of the Baltimore. Ravens after week. Ten or eleven seven. I believe it was it was around Thanksgiving. It was pretty late They fired cameron. And they brought in Jim Caldwell and won a super bowl So there there's there's a president that it works. I just don't think this guy is a good offense grinner whatsoever. I think he's was a fantastic test. A quarterback coach. I thought he was a good mentor to Ben Rothlisberger. I think he has value just like. Hey we're seeing we're seeing Keith Butler. Bler he's helping out right now..

"For exteriors controlled the team for almost ninety years Dan it's titled a different way to win Dan Rooney's story from the Super Bowl to the all the things he achieved not only in football of course he was also the United Dan this process actually well he was alive and we were talking about doing something maybe conclusion but to talk about how he tried to incorporate these things the steelers drafted more players from the HCC US than any other team and and you AAC the idea that he he tried to step into challenging situations and make the rule and he didn't just have an outsized role in the world of professional it's hard to be in a business for so long exercise so much power and so much influence with people right Jeremy You you deal with a legacy and he he you know I think you have to have to you pay special attention I don't know the pay more we had these qualities that that I think we all would like an a boss you know he he was very competent he doc with him around him knew that you know he was going to raise the bar on you but then they were very palpable from certainly my experience but I think more importantly sure Goodell Commissioner Tagliabue talk to you know sports executives and folks outside and indecency any balanced it or blended in a really good way and of course and the on race and we all know that the world of professional football is often very upgraded in the nineteen forties the steelers started an African American L. appease attitudes about racial inclusion well I certainly the history of our country Joe Job was right after Joe Louis it was my grandfather was a great promoter my father was was a better operator and he really started as you said it was the first time in NFL history that prior to the season talked him out blunt guys that went to the BBC's and they said you know it fairly and when chuck made that decision it really said to me I'm certainly proud I guess is the right way to say it that that he did it he didn't story from the Super Bowl to the Rooney rule he don't over the years since the implementation opportunity to get head coaching jobs and coordinator you take it seriously your dad died in twenty seventeen act I don't know if that's the the best word but but that there had been improvement you know how you know you're you're I don't have that number right in front of me should was very much a realist and Tony Dungy shared some of these stories with me about how it's my father sometimes would be the loudest voice saying yeah we're not we're not doing enough Bruni rule and this issue in particular we need to be doing a better job and and we're doing a better job if there's you know bear practices out there we're thinking about you know reported to the League so so you know we're we're creating do you know how do we include those over the last ten twenty Took the money you know which is their prerogative there right cashed a family that's intertwined as well with the mirrors and other one of the few families Berg even the region western Pennsylvania and your family You know where where I am in the world and folks come up to me if they you know sort of find this was something my grandfather wanted to do and my father and Joe Gordon who at this community in a in a way that was similar you know hard work and that same sort of mentality throughout and You know so you know all across the country and in different parts of the world or steeler fans and the and you know certainly are some of the with a lot of people and they become fans on on on one level or another lers fans a unique relationship especially.

"Their program last night. Do the fantastic job breaking down the upcoming kansas city chiefs game and after i do my take you guys can ask ask me any questions that you might have for the chief game coming up but we don't want to jump into in this particular episode was just simply. No news is good news now. Let me preface that by saying. I didn't wanna title the show. Save the drama for your mama but but that's what i really mean so you see the title is going to be knows as no news is good news but the show is really saved a drama for your mama now as you guys are very well aware my older brother tracy. Silvester is a fan of that team up north. I hate to say their name but if that team that now has is mini super bowl championships as a pittsburgh steelers. It's the team that the steelers will be playing in the first game of the season. It's that team up north now with that being said one of the hallmarks of that tea up north is no drama for your mama. No no news is good news now. It does it mean if you have no news that it's going to necessarily translate to wins and losses. It doesn't necessarily mean because you don't have any news. It means at all like there's no news about the cincinnati bengals like who cares about the cincinnati bungles. There's no news about the bengals but this is the pittsburgh steelers and we know because of mr third and fifth mr aka mr flaky feet it also mr button get robbed bid rothlisburger all these all this noise that was in the locker room. There was a ton of news. There was is a ton of drama for your mama. There was a ton of talk about the team that did not revolve around football so in getting back to do the mini conversations that i have with my brother who roots for the team of north because one thing we do. We have a running bit. If your team wins ends the super bowl you get to talk schillt's nils or she's knits the entire season a you can't retort you can't rebut you just have to sit there and take it. There was a time when the patriots won back to back championships happy and ships and they won. Maybe like twenty one games in a row before me and my brother went to that halloween game and watch the steelers ransacked the patriots and he couldn't lift his head from under his legs for the entire second-half because he couldn't bear to watch it but i had to listen to two years as of him. Call heinz field foxborough south two years two years of him saying hi fi it was foxborough south but what's the all of that organization does no drama for your mama where there was a rookie from the patriots who wrote a poem on twitter and tom brady responded getting a playbook. That's the level of drama rama that comes from that team from up north so i love it that there is no drama this training camp of course i am the tragic events from the loss of the steelers former wide receiver coach this week but man no drama aw for your mom. No news is good news. Because you know what when you don't make the playoffs after starting starting seven two in one and you finished nine six and won a you basically shiels knit the bed and do everything you can to not make the playoffs guess what you need to do. You need to focus in on football and that's what they're doing. You know here any outside ways. You don't hear any drama. You don't hear any comments. You don't hear nothing. The only thing that you really here is the voice to the coach and press conferences. You don't hear anything from ben rothlisberger you hear very little from cam hayward from any of the players and if you do hear from somebody it is strictly drizzly about football. It's strictly about what the pittsburgh steelers need to do as a collective group and a collective unit the unit to ascend to a seventh championship because if the patriots winning every year and tying you for the certain for the.

"Was out with a back injury linebacker Budde. Do pre was out of the pectoral injury backup guard BJ Finney was out for a personal reason. I guess a lot like me bane. He didn't practice on Wednesday. Either the tackle Marcus Gilbert did not practice with a knee injury. That'll be big. We'll talk about his backup coming up later and the Tynan van. Mcdonald was out with a hip injury. He did not practice on Wednesday either. Now moving on to this Pittsburgh Steelers offense, and this is an explosive offense. They've got some considerable weapons all over the field. And we'll start with quarterback Ben Rothlisberger. Now as charger fans we've seen Big Ben a lot over the years. We know that he can extend to play. He's real tough QB to bring down that's all a given. So the chargers pass rushers will have to wrap up make sure to bring him down. Because when he slips a tackle that is win. Ben is at his most dangerous. Let's talk about how Ben has played this season. Pittsburgh loves the throw the ball because Big Ben has those weapons. In fact, Rothlisberger leads the league and pass attempts. This season Steelers have won seven game. So it's not like that's one of those standards inflated where he got a throw to catch up in games. They've been up they've been a lot. So Pittsburgh just leans on their aerial salt on Sundays while. Leading the league in attempts. Ross burgers completion percentage is eighteenth overall among quarterbacks he's also thrown twenty four touchdown passes, which is eighth among QB's Philip rivers fifth in that category. He's got twenty six TD passes compare Rothlisberger twenty four touchdowns to his twelve interceptions which is tied for second. Most in the NFL Big Ben has fifty five interceptions in fifty two regular season game since two thousand fifteen he's one of five quarterbacks that have at least fifty interceptions during that span. And I bet you guess who one of the other five is Philip rivers. He's thrown fifty picks in fifty nine games. So let's five less interceptions in seven more games. Compared to Big Ben in two thousand eighteen Rothlisberger has the most poor throws in the league. According to the QB incompletion breakdown. His biggest struggles this year has been in the red zone. Rothlisberger has the third worst passer rating in the. NFL in the red zone with a seventy one point four passer rating. In fact, it was an interception the red zone that causes to the game last week in Denver and he leads the league with four red zone interceptions this past weekend. Ben Rothlisberger criticized some of his teammates and on Wednesday. He doubled down saying leaders have to call out teammates. And on that span. He said Antonio Brown run his route flat enough on the goal line interception. The cost them the game. Last sunday. He said juju should have got the ball in that play. He disapproved of marquees pounces blocking on that. Same play for blocking the nose tackle too deep into the end zone. That seems like if you're driving a defender the opposite way away from the quarterback. That's usually a good thing. But I guess that's just me. He also called out rookie receiver James Washington for diving for a ball where bent on he could just run under it and catch it. He said a cost them six points in the third quarter. No, obviously that type of motivation when you go through the media to call out players, usually. Was one of two ways it'll fire guys up or it begins a meltdown strife in the locker room. We'll see how Pittsburgh responds this Sunday. But we know that they can throw it their explosive offense. But when you get him in the red zone shrink that field down a little bit. That's when Big Ben gets a little careless with the football. And the chargers in the zone have done pretty good..

"It was Bengal weeks and you know what thing go week means, even though there's a possibility of a win. There's also a possibility of complete destruction to your entire team. Hello friends. Once again, it is time for the Steeler hangover, and so that's a hangover. It's just because of great showy and Steeler nation with the Pittsburgh Steelers winning a thriller in the cincy jungle twenty eight to twenty one in the Queen city, and the kings are hailing from Pittsburgh at this certain time, even though they are only a half game back of the Bengals. Is it at turn upwards or has the defense turn so bad that it's gonna be tough going through with? That's one of the things we're gonna discuss, but we're going to discuss the great joy of that victory and discussing that with me once again is my good friend, Tony deaf, yo from behind the steel. Curtain, Tony. What do you think my man feeling groovy? Oh, yeah. How you doing Brian good to be with you as always feeling great. Probably one of my favorite teams wins. Got one of the craziest games and the most satisfying because it's Cincinnati is I don't know about you and this is something we can discuss, but for me and I live in Maryland. So I'm a guy that lives in Maryland. I a hor- the Bank, the ravens. But since the Bengals have gone to fuck city in the last ten years or so under or maybe the last fifteen with the more Lewis era. I don't know what all I know is that I can honestly say that I despise Cincinnati Bengals more than I do the Baltimore Ravens. I don't know if you feel that way. So for me, Tony, this is so satisfying what? What's your thoughts on that? Well, I think my my hatred for the ravens is a little bit deeper because they just give Steelers hard time and I don't like John Harbaugh. Hey, yet the ravens. The Bengals are definitely Ashim. I respect less than the reason that's for sure. And they do a lot of talking. They do a lot of. Dirty players, but they just don't get. They don't get the job done on on the field, especially against feelers. And you know, at this point I'm thinking Pittsburgh should be paying the Bengals rent because or at least half a mortgage because they might as well move Paul Brown stadium at the magic. They against that team, they're just I've never seen anything like it how they continue to win games in such a magical fashion at another teams stadium brain. So I'm feeling pretty good. Maybe because of that, we should call Ben Rothlisberger the landlord of PBS. What do you think? Man. I wish everyone thought of that, but I like it. What you're you. Go ahead and write it. That's yours. I, I'm you give me credit if you want, but let's just say that's property Steelers hangover, so we could both use it. Like I said, like sometimes we, we share the same brain. So there you go the landlord of Paul Brown stadium. I love it and I love what they're doing. You said that the Bengals are doing a lot of talking speaking of a lot of talking to hangovers brought you by behind the steel curtain. "Down certainly things get a lot easier the pittsburgh steelers have this at least ben roethlisberger has this welldocumented home versus roads splits now he played fantasy football you've ever roster ben roethlisberger you're well aware of what i am talking about but it feels like the pittsburgh steelers are almost always a decidedly better offense at home versus on the road and when these two teams play it always compelling football right it sometimes shippy sometimes beyond chippy we know of the welldocumented history between amongst others von tests perfect obiang's linebacker in the pittsburgh steelers and we also know that right now there's this rivalry between lady on bell and joe mix maybe robberies to shrunk of a word but lady on bell maybe feels as though john nixon started be like him it's unfairly clear what the back and forth the trash talk is by the way this if the bangor spin get joe mix and to be more levy on bell like especially after that really good performance a week for thirteen for him uh they might have a chance tonight against these pittsburgh steelers ultimately though i think the steelers who are now at nine and two in with a win would reassumed the current number one spot in the afc over the new england patriots the pittsburgh steelers i think go to cincinnati with or without antonio brown of their lineup and grind out a win it's never easy to win on the road in the division bank the steelers find a way in a game that i expect to be fairly low score and maybe sub we along the lines of twenty to seventeen if the bangladesh escape with a win they're still in the play off mix for that number two wild card in the afc though i do think pittsburgh does come out on top.
