How NFL Player Tony Dungy Came to Faith

"On the program before, but for people who don't know your stories about coming to faith or when did the penny drop for each of you? It took me a little while. My parents, especially my mother, tried to teach me that. But as a 12 year old, 14 year old, your honor I was listening or it doesn't make sense. And my mom would tell me those things, you know, what would a profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? Make sure you're in tune with God. Just what you're saying. The creation is great. All these things are wonderful, but don't fall in love with the creation, fall in love with the creator. But it didn't hit me until I was 21. And I got to the National Football League and my coach chuck noll, who was a tremendous coach Hall of Fame coach. First thing he said to us is don't make football your whole life. It's your profession now because you're getting paid for it. But if you make it your whole life, you're going to be disappointed. And then I see all these guys and they had two Super Bowl rings when I got there, but they're saying the same thing. And hey, you got to come to Bible study. You got to come to chapel tonight. And what franchise was this? The Pittsburgh Steelers. So the Pittsburgh city, I love hearing stories like this. So here you go, you're practically a kid 21 years old. Going to the Pittsburgh Steelers. And there's a culture of some players in the Pittsburgh Steelers. They get God. And they're willing to share this with the younger players. That is pretty amazing.

Louisiana State Treasurer John Schroder Discusses the ESG Movement

"Treasure. Let's slow this down for Pittsburgh steeler fan USC Trojans out there. ESG stands for environmental social governmental. And it's policies that corporations put in place and say, we're not going to harm the environment. We're not going to invest in socially left wing antitheses. And the governmental processes of these organizations, we're going to reform ourselves that we are in step with the local app. It's just woke. ESG is short for woke. So what we're doing right now, when I was, I praised Alec yesterday because a year ago, this nobody even was talking about this yet. And those treasures have different financial obligations across the country. I handle all debt for the state. I invest billions of dollars in trust funds, so I started with what I can do and what I can control. And I started and I'm going to say this on your radio show this morning and I have not said this publicly anywhere. It would have been working on move in $600 million out of BlackRock. Because as much as they want to infringe upon Louisiana, what they want, Louisiana, why shouldn't Louisiana have the same right to pick and choose who we do business with? And look, I've been drugged through court that I can't do this. I can't do that. This coin is single sided and I don't like it. And as this ESG thing grows, it's good to see legislators and treasures sitting in the same room yesterday, talking how are we going to fight against us because it's typically when you look at the makeup of Alec and you look at the makeup of the SOF membership, you know, it's not New York, it's not New Jersey, it's not California. It's not where all the number and mass is off. So they want to stuff this stuff right down our throat. Not on the coast. It's Iowa and Ohio. Yeah, Louisiana and Mississippi. And everybody in between.

"Signing haze was the start of just because you signed someone? Doesn't mean you can't trade them. I think a lot of the people forget that. That's true, but that was a longer term to you. Still train them. It's a team friendly deal. Well, then if you're saying that, then what does plentiful? What does he have to do? I think to make Frank Michael Smith happy, what does he have to do? Not be a seller. I agree. How about spending more than this? Basically, it's just investing money. And that's not being a seller is the same thing. So their argument is they invest in the minor leagues. That's their argument. All right, well, should we think it's absurd? Should we just make a road trip and go to Altoona then? Like, oh, that's where the investment is. You know what? I might be a better baseball team. We got to keep the loyal fans of Altoona and Indianapolis happy. That's the pirate's goal. That's why it's going to keep that happy. We might have to make a road trip. That's it's sad. That's where we are, man. All right, Louie. We're 26 minutes in. Okay. Bob nutting is not going to sell this baseball team. Okay. He's going to wait to see this new regime through. And the new regime I mean sharington. And managing to an extent. If this doesn't work out, he is not selling the team, but he's going to gift the team to his daughter. How old is his daughter? I don't know. And I haven't looked into that yet, but someone made a good point. I was talking to about this. Do you think that if let's say it's just true and I trust my source a lot? Do you think that his daughter's engaged even a little bit on social media that sees their family name just get dragged through the mud? All day every day, do you have to see it? There's no way you don't see it. That's what I'm saying. Let's say she's 35. Well, 40. She has to see this. She starts spending money. Why did they.

"And I find that very interesting. Well, yeah, why would they say no? Because they he's running it like it's because I think shop and safe. I think they know that he would come in and spend the money. And they want the pirates, you know, they feed off the pirates thinking. Gotta think about that. No. That's fine. That's not good for business. The pirate strategy is not good for the other owners. The pirates are sucking up. The luxury tax money from the Yankees. Correct. But part develop people, such as Brian Reynolds and Ben are, for example, trade them to the Dodgers to the angels to the Yankees. I don't think so. I think the MLB would rather see the pirates spend money for sure. It's a better product. I think everyone wins. When there's parody like this I know, I know I'm going to win when they spend money because I'm going to be happy to watch them. Give me your other pirates insider info. Can we do? We have some insider info. I think it's very interesting. So there was a lot of speculation that the pirates were going to sign Andrew McCutchen this year. And kind of like his swan song, coming back to the pitch. The reason that they didn't sign it was based on the fact that if management management believed that if he came back and had its subpar year that it would tarnish his legacy in Pittsburgh and I just can't believe it. I'm trying to think if there's another example where this happened. Oh, Harrison came back. That's probably a pretty good one. You need to do great. Well, he actually left. No one cared. It didn't tarnish his legacy. You're right about that. One of the Patriots tarnished his legacy yeah, right. But. But anyway, when he came back, everyone was cool. But the reason that they used that as an excuse not to sign him, I think it was crazy. He makes no sense. All right, let's just let him play Milwaukee. Yeah, right, right. And let him hit it with that's better. That one Sunday, he hit like 5 RBS against us. He could still play. It's unbelievable. I think right now what they need the most is that veteran leadership. And they don't have that. Why do we have why do we have such an affinity for overweight fielders? Is it unbelievable? Or not field is batters. Why do we just sign the fattest guys this year without the strategy? Do you know what? I can not believe listen, do you want to sign a big guy to hit the ball? I get it. I like Daniel vauban. He tries hard. In Yoshi, they're bad in the leadoff. I've never seen a guy like that by leader. Frank, I bet a leadoff every time you know I bad Alito. This dude is 9000 pounds. He's playing Leo. I've never seen a baseball strategy. I think it's like the analytics nerds just like going way over the top. See, I think analytics has analytics it has to be that as almost ruined baseball to an extent. Yeah, I knew you were going to say the shift, wasn't there part of the new CBA, going to say you can't shift anymore. So next year. That's okay they agree that next year. You can not, so baseball. You have two infielders on both sides of second base. First and second, third and short. That is actually going to be a rule next year. You are not allowed to move a third person past second.

"My head. One is a logo that was made by a graphic designer named Tim Hindus who took the Pittsburgh Steelers logo and replaced the yellow hypo cycloid, which is kind of like a diamond, but it's actually called a hypocycloid. And he replaced it with a star of David, so you have the red and blue steelers elements and then a yellow star of David. At the top, and then he put in the words stronger than hate, and that became sort of like the poster. People were holding it up at steelers games the next day. You can still see it in the storefronts along Forbes and Murray in the squirrel hill commercial corridor. That was number one. Number two, there was beautiful public art in the windows of that Starbucks on Forbes. A Roman Catholic artist painted the words a hava, tikva, press it, love, hope, loving kindness. Along with a dove and a tree of life and a star of David, in the windows on that Starbucks. And people can still walk by and see this Hebrew script. But the third one, and the one that I want to tell you about now is this Hebrew headline. This was a big moment for Pittsburgh's journalist. Maybe the biggest they'd had in years. Among the most important of those journalists was David shribman, who, for more than a decade, had been editor of the Pittsburgh post gazette. This was a guy with a long career. He'd been at The Wall Street Journal and The Boston Globe where he won a Pulitzer some years ago. And he had this idea. He wanted to do something that I think had never been done before in the history of English language newspapers. He wanted to run a Hebrew headline across the top of page a one. There were all these rabbis in town. And we don't have people fought. So I called wherever Gibson, James Gibbs. And I said, you know, I need the first four words of cottage. And Hebrew. And he asked why in the survived what I'm going to do, and he sent to me. Rabbi Gibson, who was rabbi at temple Sinai, sent shribman the text of the mourners cottage or the first line. It could all be ashamed of. Now that ribbon had the Hebrew text, would he really run this headline? Was it a good idea? He asked some people, including some rabbis. Would this be offensive or would this be okay? And people said it would be okay. But Friedman knew that a lot of his audience wouldn't really get it. After all, Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania and the whole circulation area of the post gazette, which reaches down into West Virginia, is not actually that Jewish an area. It's not like The New York Times where the readership is Jewish or sort of Jew adjacent. This is western Pennsylvania, and how would people feel about seeing this big bizarre script across the fold in the paper? But shriven forged ahead. He sent the text to the paper's design editor, and he even got in on the design act himself. And she saw it. I wanted a little bit bigger and a little more white space and we fooled with it. It was the most hands on thing I've done in years. They finished the layout, but sriman kept it to himself. I didn't show it to anyone for fear that they would be pressure to kill it. Now Friedman, who no longer works at the post gazette was very discreet about how he discussed all the dealings that went on. But my inference was that he feared there was some repercussions about keeping the headline a secret from others in management or ownership. Nevertheless, he went ahead and sent the paper off to the presses. I left the office knowing that the morning paper would have that hippo headlight. I felt I had done my duty for Pittsburgh. I had done my jury for the post gazette. And that my yoke work here was complete. The next day when the paper came out, everyone saw it. It hit British newspapers, Australia around the world, almost immediately. It was a sensation. It was one of those headlines like the famous incorrect Dewey defeats Truman headline that now is one of the headlines that people think about when they think about why you want to hold a newspaper in your hand and not just see it on a tiny smartphone. In the end, this was one of shipman's last significant acts at the paper. He led the newspaper's coverage of the immediate aftermath of the tree of life shooting. And guess what? He ended up with his second Pulitzer. But pretty.

"Doing all the serious things. The tahara, the preparation for the burials, the preparation for Trump's visit, the protests and counter protests. But it wasn't just the adults. It was the young people in Pittsburgh, who also felt they had to do something. Who also had this sense that they couldn't just sit still. One of those young people was Emily pressman. She was a student at altered as high school, which is like the public school in squirrel hill. If you meet people from the Pittsburgh Diaspora, particularly if they're Jewish, you can pretty much say to them, oh, did you go to alternate? What year? And they'll tell you their year at older dice. The morning of the attack, she was out of town at a debate tournament in the suburbs. And like Tammy habs, when we heard about earlier encountering the crosses for losses guy, she learned what was going on by text. After she heard what was going on, she wanted to leave the debate tournament immediately. But her mom told her to hold on, wait, not to come back to sport hill yet. Eventually, however, a couple hours later, she left the tournament went home and turned on the news. And I sat down on my couch and I heard them pronounce this happened on the corner of north umbrella straight. I'm like, nothing. What the hell that's not how you pronounce my street name? And this is the world listening to them saying north, Cumberland. I'm like, holy shit, that's where I live. I called my best friend Marina. And said, what are you doing right now? She's like, oh, I'm helping playing the vigil with some people. I said, where are you? I'm on my way. Emily's friend was at Starbucks. Now, there are two Starbucks in squirrel hill, so for those of you who are locals, I'll tell you, this is the one on Forbes avenue, not unmarried. This is like kind of the bigger, more central Starbucks. And like every Starbucks you've ever been in, it has that one long, Bigtable in the middle, the communal table. And there was about 12 of us sitting around that table and while this was happening, squirrel hill was a dust town. I've never seen this area so quiet. No one knew how to react. It was terrified. Emily sat there with about a dozen of her classmates and tried to do something about that silence. They did all the work that's needed for a vigil, they decided something's happening that night. They're going to make it happen. They bought candles, they coordinated with other groups, they found a microphone they found a stage, they found a song leader to lead songs that night. And they began to get the word out. They wanted other people to know that they would be at the main intersection at Forbes and Murray. That night. Now, their biggest task was not figuring out how many candles to buy or anything kind of tangible or material like that. Rather, it was deciding what kind of vigil they wanted to hold. And Emily had an idea. She knew exactly what to do. After all, it was Saturday. It was Shabbat. We wanted to have a hot dolla, because it was happening on Saturdays, so we wanted everyone who wanted to be there to be there. So being the most religious of the group. I was actually the one who was like, there should be a service. There should be at this time. Some people were like, we should make this about gun violence. I was like, this is not the time for that. This was an act of violence. Against a religion. That's what this was. So we made sure that was clear. Some people smoke and it was just something to get for the community together. We said this Abdullah, if you know the tunes of the songs,.

"The audio you just heard is from three years ago. October 27th, 2018, a Sabbath morning three years ago. That's a wild thing to say. Three years. I mean, when I think of what that's been in my life, my baby son was only a month and a half old when that happened. And now he's chattering away at dinner and telling us that he wants to help us find a better recipe for tomorrow. That's his new word recipe. Three years is a crazy amount of time in life, and it's also a crazy amount of time for a sad event because it feels still so fresh for the people who are close to it. And yet the memories are blurring and for people who weren't close to it, well, it feels like a really long time ago. But we had unorthodox want to do something about that. We want to pull it close again. And when I say we, I mean, the whole team, I mean, my colleagues, Stephanie, and liel, who went down there three years ago down to Pittsburgh, and produced that special episode that we aired 48 hours later. But of course, I don't just mean we. I also frankly mean me because when I first heard about the attack, sitting outside a synagogue in Newton, Massachusetts, where I had traveled to take my oldest daughter to a bat mitzvah of a summer camp friend. When I heard about the attack, it really hit close to home. When I read that it was in squirrel hill, I mean, that was my family's squirrel hill. That was the Jewish neighborhood that's been substantively Jewish about a third Jewish for a century. Where my family has lived for that entire time. My dad was a 5th generation pittsburger and a third generation squirrel hill resident. His family was there since about World War I. His family was there, as long as anybody was in squirrel hill. And growing up, we'd visit occasionally, but more than that, I would hear the stories. I would hear the family lore. Of what it was growing up. In the 1950s and 60s in this little Jewish Eden, where the doors were always left unlocked, were car doors were open with the keys in the ignition, where no one hurt anybody, except maybe your skin your knee when you were playing ball in the street, it was that kind of place. And I grew up with the knowledge that my dad had been nurtured by that kind of place. So when I heard that the worst anti semitic attack in American history had come to a place that was as safe for Jews as anywhere in America, maybe anywhere in the world, I knew that we had to go back. So first we went back for that special podcast episode. But then I kept going. Starting in November, I went to Pittsburgh 32 times over the next year and a half. My last trip to Pittsburgh was in March of 2020 just as COVID was descending on the country and the world. But I'd already been plenty by that point. I've been going and taking notes and recording interviews. I'd been walking those streets Forbes and Murray avenues, Wilkins and shady and beechwood, Darlington, I had talked to about 250 people. And I knew by that point that the book I was going to write, the book that is now just out squirrel hill, the tree of life synagogue shooting and the soul of a neighborhood, was going to be about hope. Now, that last part might surprise you, right? I mean, I would tell people I was writing about squirrel hill or tree of life, and they'd always say, that must be so sad. But the truth is that while this was a sad story, and I heard so many sad stories about that day. It was actually a hopeful book to write. My reporting often left me even elated. I always say cheered, it cheered me, even when it was sad. Because what I was reporting on, I realized was the way that a neighborhood can be a protagonist. That the people I met in this neighborhood because they lived in proximity to each other and knew each other and their families had known each other for generations, were uniquely poised to come through for each other. That the ties that bind a neighborhood together are real and visible and touchable and not just blew me away..

This is a raiders runaway. Victory to hurt percent socks to a hurt sucks to. You'll see who plays there. But i think there's going to be a runaway game. If derek carr is healthy am i survivor week. Yes after two weeks. I'm steering at baby. Couldn't say after week one last year. I'm rolling baby anyways. If car practices by thursday. I'm picking areas may survivor have when the last time i've done that i feel like this is the time so yesterday gruden said hey look garrett cards questionable right now if an ankle heard it against the steelers bad things in play but he just seems concerned about. It would be really really surprised. Eric doesn't play unless unless you woke up monday morning and it was really bad. He didn't went back on it after he got hurt. It was really wild because when he got banged up after that touchdown pass to moro. Hit look like holy. I mean guys around him. It had the it was a scene of something bad. It works like christmas eve. Two thousand sixteen and as with brands as we of course working by the job i can do on game day. I could be with friends and my wife is raider fan and it was just after halftime. And i had my little hamburger in a frigging lettuce. Wrap for seventy ever done that. I'm i'm losing weight here and it was good so i'm sitting there and it's like holy god. God you know my whole days changed. My whole week is changed. The raiders whole season is changed. Who cares about my day my week. This team seasons change and then he gets these cool tough guy under atef guide her player. Course any finish thing look good remember. This guy got hurt against the chargers and then played against the dolphins nine days later. I think he's gonna play again. Don't take that to the bank. Just my gut feeling at this point. It's tuesday afternoon things can change. But i'd be really surprised they're occurs. Maybe just jacobs dozen but things are things good. Thanks good words may be pregnant. You know i think interrupts where he's gonna be you know eighteen games into his career idea define him. I don't know. But i think he's going to be a guy who's not going to be a number one who's gonna be inconsistent is disappear some games but there's also going gonna be times when he makes really big points and we've already seen that we side against pittsburgh. Is it worth the number twelve overall pick. I don't know but there there's some value there I think we know who is going to be but yeah it was a really exciting when they played complete football and they deserve to win that game. Ben rosberg about the ways cook. He's shit adds to bad car. Hoffer shit but it's over for him. He stated the steelers shooter. Shooter ended that relationship after last season. "This is a football team too. And oh give yourself a out now. Is this team better than last year's to start finish. Maybe because the defense is better right. It looks like i don't know if i'm completely sold on the defense my head to see more but going pretty good. Everything is going really good and the raider nation right now. I mean really really good yes injuries. We're talking about that but there's injuries everywhere. I mean the raiders have been the less injured team in both these games. But don't apologize for but things are going really well offense scoring playing well derek cards point. Mvp revel for you know early stages Defense looks timely. Pass rushes their coverages. They're young guys are coming into their own. I mean it's going really freaky well. The chiefs last. The chargers lost one of those two teams is gonna lose this week because they play each each other. The broncos are a fraud. I think things are going freaking. Well they have two wins against. They may be in the playoff line. Things you go and freaking. It's unbelievable.

"When astronomer diane turn shack move to pittsburgh in nineteen eighty-one she noticed. Something big was missing from the night sky. When i grew up in new england you could just walk outside and look up and see the milky way. But when i arrived in pittsburgh the sky had started to decline in quality. Still she says at the time her students at carnegie mellon university were very familiar with the milky way they knew about stars and constellations. That is not the case anymore forty years later. I have to explain what the milky way is and describe what it looks like in a show pictures and they think those pictures are fake. Because of light pollution major constellations can be totally invisible in cities. The pittsburgh city council is now trying to do something about it with the help of scientists like turn check. It passed a dark sky. Ordinance last week to reduce light pollution. This city is going to replace streetlights with warm tone. Led lights and they're also going to install shields so that late doesn't travel up what we're trying to do is cut out the light at the blue end of the spectrum because blue light scatters more easily than red light in the atmosphere rate. "Way that you know you're going to win this game yet. That makes sense. Yeah that makes total sense like twenty to seventeen seventeen thirteen. It feels like one of those kinds of games if you're if they're gonna be in it and have a chance to win it My number two is it really just adds to what you brought to the table on friday. Show which is that. This is in many ways. Scott turner game like he's going to have to prove it against the best defense that he's coached with a quarterback that he likes since the rams game. Now we started that rams game. With kyle allen and allen got hurt and we know the rest of the story but you know since they started to sort of get it together offensively. This is the first legitimate big time defensive team that they're playing and i want to see him. Do you suggested you know he needs to do you know Move on You know change play call against tendencies recent tendencies but continue to figure out a way to get the ball out of alex smith hands and into the hands of playmakers in space. You know. I think that. I personally think it would be very. It'll be very difficult to run the football against pittsburgh. I think if they banging their head against that wall. They're gonna be too many pundits in this game. I think they have to do what they did. against the giants in that first game in the meadowlands is used. Some of those quick throws run extension. Throws i'm getting the ball out to gibson and mckissic in maclaurin and logan thomas and anybody else. That's on the field with a chance to get yards after catch to move the chains It'll be interesting to see how he does it. I'd be surprised if they ran the ball. Effectively against pittsburgh You know were catching pittsburgh in an odd position. You know short super short rest. Banged up You know not a division game for them at a conference game for them at the same time you know tomlin lynn to them after the the the last game in such a way that i don't expect them to come out flat either but scott turner's got a scheme up first downs and has got to do in the process. He's got protect alex smith. Because i'll get to my last point here shortly. But alex smith cannot Sit back there and think he's going to have enough time if he doesn't it'll be a long day and potentially a very ugly day and to me that's going to be on scott turner and playcalling to help avoid those situations. Yeah i'm i'm really interested in scott turner this week. I do. i like your key. I didn't put it into my key even though we talked about it on friday. Because i don't know if it's the way they're actually going to win this game it is or the i. I don't know the easiest way to win this game. But i think if you count you come out and all of a sudden pittsburgh stone. What in world going on here. Turner's got him going. I will be really really impressed. Don't expect it but it'd be fun to see my last key to the game is that you can't make stupid mistakes throughout the game in multiple levels that you can't give them easy place you can't have a drought passed up in the air then ends up being a pick. Goldman had one of those by the way. Evan ingram batted one up in their early in that ball game right. You can't have a fumbled punt. You can't have a stupid penalty on a big play on a special teams run back. You can't have missed field goals in game. If there's a chance to get the ball out on a sack you gotta get the ball. You know no personal fouls this multitude of silly mistakes that can be made in football games and you really have to limit those when an average team.

"Although they had some very creative things in the game plan but pittsburgh is read a middle of the pack on yards per play. Now they're pretty good in yards per game but that's because they end up having leads and a lot of games but yard for play it giving up of four yards a carry to me like washington is going to have to be better than the number. They're giving up which is four point three seven so on the day better than four point. Three seven yards per rush. And that doesn't mean you get a forty hour drought. The end of the half or some crazy play that really skews legitimately legitimate round. You need to be better than i think they have a chance. Do you think they're going to try to run the football against pittsburgh again. I think that if you're looking at pittsburgh right now but team that is number one in sacks per attempt is number one in passing yards per game given up or they're the best in the league they're good at turning you over and they're right there in the middle of the pack in terms of yards per attempt on runs. Jackie fish probably cetera. Yeah that is interesting. I think the steelers in terms of rushing yards per game Are somewhere near the top. Their eighth and then but yards per attempt is cooley. said There in the middle of the pack they allow four point four yards per carry But as schooling pointed out could be because teams were behind and started throwing the football a little bit more in didn't russia's. I don't know what the reason would be anyway. here's my. Here's my number one. I think it's i think one of the reasons. They beat dallas. Don't you wanna get confused in the middle of something. It just continue. I don't even care what the damn racists here's my thing. I think that they did something in. They've been doing something. That's really impressive. To me for teams that can go on the road. Something that travels. And i know it's not true road game but they've got a tackle well today. I thought they tackled exceptionally well against dallas. At that they really had A discipline and physical approach to the dallas game in. Everybody tackled That was big In their win. Over the cowboys. On thanksgiving no james conner today for pittsburgh. He's out as well. You'll see benny snell. Allot you'll see former terp. Anthony mcfarland But here's the thing. Pittsburgh doesn't run the football. They don't care about running the football they're pass to run ratio is as high as anybody's in the league in terms of a team. That's got a winning winning record. In in wins games not teams. That are falling behind in their pass. Run ratio gets out of whack. Because of that ben rothlisberger at the end of tonight will likely lead the league in pass attempts And they've got a stable of good receivers not the elite receivers like they used to have with antonio brown. But he's got many options chase claypool. The rookie. at notre dame's been outstanding diontae. Johnson has been really good. Juju smith schuster. Eric ebron a player. That you didn't like it at all has seemed to have a a rebirth in pittsburgh. They've got four receivers with forty two or more receptions another not a big yards after catch team necessarily. They're not super explosive. But still you've got to make tackles in. Make them make third downs. Like you've got a tackle. Well you've gotta take it out of them a little bit you gotta be physical like baltimore was the only reason baltimore was in that game as they were good defensively you know. An and pittsburgh missed on a couple of opportunities. I want to see the same thing. I saw in dallas which is exceptional tackling a real physical approach to pittsburgh and an understanding. That a couple of missed tackles means a couple of extra possessions or sets of downs. That could really be important in a game. That i actually think's going to be close cer- tackling well. Today is gonna be really big for them as it will be the rest of the year But exceptionally important. Today if you're going to beat an undefeated team In pittsburgh What's your number two. Well number two really to me is the defense is gonna have to be outstanding top to.

"Just stop for a second. Explain to me why you continue to say that. Cleveland's up and down or that cleveland's cleveland with the maybe not. They're really pretty good. They were really impressive yesterday. I actually well. here's why. Because they barely beat the eagles. They apparently meet the jags. They barely beat the texans. They lost you know they've had some results where you're like you know no three. They are ninety three first time since nineteen ninety four. Think the saints are legitimately. Good in defense. I was dead wrong about them. Whenever i told you i wasn't a big fan of the saints. They're proving that they were legitimately good on defense. We think they have the players to be keep in mind their their winning streak. You know i mean they. They crushed the box. That was the most impressive. it's it's their defense. I mean their defense is outstanding. doubt the same hill. Well i mean he's terrible getting better. What's that game and better. I kinda like. I mean if if if we weren't in the division race in we were out of it which is typically the case on december seventh by the way This is a day that will live in infamy and Quick you know obvious recognition for all of those that fought and served and kept our way of life in the nineteen th from nine hundred forty one and nineteen forty five. The it's it's amazing. It's so it's it's nine hundred forty one which would be fifty nine hundred seventy nine years ago today The attack on pearl harbor so next year and eighty year anniversary. God that's a long time now like i. I'm old enough to remember like oh it's the fifty year anniversary of pearl harbor. You know in nineteen ninety one like that's a really big deal but now that's nine years ago. Anyway i digress. I like the giants if if if washington weren't in this hunt. I'd actually be somewhat rooting for them to go and represent division and create some havoc in the postseason and and they're good enough with daniel jones to be a problem. I think in the nfc post-season. I do. yeah. I think they're good enough with daniel jones but i think the the thing that he started to see stand out for the with the giants as they make this stretches. It's because they're relying on daniel jones. They have a good defense and they run the ball now when football games in december and that wins football games in january and they're figuring that out that they struggled running ball early in the season i think for getting better upfront pushing people around a little bit and the defense has started to figure some things out. They have enough of a formula to win playoff and we continue to say this weekend week out. There's a lot of teams. You're not sure of in the nfc in it's just i think it's it's proven out that way to me. I like i like right now. I think the rams and the saints. I just don't see it from anybody else. God you love the rams and they were impressive yesterday against the team. That's really.

"Are see. We are forced to listen to quarterback so often in the world of nfl analysis. So i just wanna thank you for helping lead. The db revolution espn daily. Why does this happen. You guys finally invited me or it's your time man your old team. The steelers are right now. Undefeated and that is surprising. Let's be honest to a lot of people. So how surprising is it though to you. I think it's it's. It's more surprising when you actually watch the games <hes>. It's obviously surprising. Anytime team goes through more than half of the season and their undefeated. But when you watch the steelers play the second half against tennessee titans even watching them to send the backup quarterback gets the denver broncos or be dominated upfront defensively the way they were against the baltimore ravens but still be undefeated. I think that's the fascinating part is not just that they've managed to win. Every game is just inside of those games. you seen opportunities for them to lose. But they've made the place that they've to. I mean you can even look at a match up against the dallas cowboys and say you know gary gilbert and the dallas cowboys may have deserve to win that game. But that's what this lied about was going to come down to one possession games. He's gonna come our critical situation though football moments and at least it does far. The steelers have found answers to any questions in those important moments. And this is why you sit undefeated. So how does this defense stack up. Ryan versus the steeler defense. Is that you played for that. You helped lead. What are the holes in this defense. You know what. I don't think they necessarily have holes in the sense of of those things being a negative right. He's looking to make a rush. The passer with just for the obviously can bring bring pressure make fitzpatrick ultimate playmaker on the back end and i think they have really good corners. But they don't have that great court but when you all those things together i think you get one of the top defense in the league especially when it comes to pressure and turning the ball over we. That's what football is right. Like people aren't going to hold you. Thirteen points like we did wait. Like that's not the ball we play it. You can't intimidate people like i would get fined and kicked out of every game. Five play james harrison fell six million dollars a year. You can't do those things anymore. But if you could get the ball which the pittsburgh steelers do know that really helps and that's why this team world season. Well i wanna get into the difference between playing football then versus now especially because offense is king these days as you implied right there so the defense is the big reason. The steelers are undefeated. The offense though i mean they've been relatively relatively average so can eighteen built around defense. Like the steelers are ryan. Can that sort of team win in the modern nfl. I believe they can. I believe they can. Because if you look at the individual weapons offensively like they are extremely. good <hes>. I think you you're missing that one running back piece but we look at pool. Smith schuster the johnson. Eric ebron like that's a skill set or skill position that a lot of teams would love to have especially teams not named became the city chiefs. And so if you can do all those things on the outside like they can. You can score points. Also look at this team at critical moments though. Think about tennessee. Titans having to get a drive late in the game even though been was a reception late like they were able to the ball greg band. There's gonna prevail on the road. The pittsburgh steelers had the hold on dearly man. Hold on they do for the baltimore. Ravens they score in the second half and they were able to do that then back pop. For the end zone touchdown pittsburgh and all the out cut to the chase. Claypool man play. It just seems that all the critical point of the season it's offense has been able to produce down to like. I said the dallas cowboy game last week obviously exploiting a very bad bengals defense and well in a team like the cat city chiefs right and i say okay. One had the baby stopped him have to limit big play. The pittsburgh steelers can do that with rush. Plays on the back end right. Play play man when they need to stop the big click now. Let's go offensively the only time we've ever seen patrick mahomes lose. He was in the playoffs. He was standing across from another super bowl. Winning quarterback that was tom brady and rothlisburger. Isn't tom brady but he can do. Some of those things in important moments. And we've seen of do those. And so i think this team can most certainly went into as you mentioned chase claypool his nickname if catching on with you but maple tron. He comes from canada. He's this guy. I didn't know anything about. I wonder if you did because he has seven touchdowns in his first nine games as a pro. What has he brought to this offense. I mean you look at what this league is turning into. Because of the lack of physicality it's a it's a size speed league right like it's starting to they used to be. It didn't matter what happened in the shorts olympics at the combine like if a fast it didn't necessarily mean it was going to translate do can do certain things there did me but it's starting to mean that at the wide receiver position because of the rules. Like if you could flat out run you're gonna probably get open because they can't hold you. You pass five yards. They can't hit you across the middle play putin critic who has great hands he tracks the ball. Well he has a big body and so when you have all those things just translate we've seen chase claypool. You know kind of come out of nowhere. They just kinda have a knack for finding people that sit what they want to do and utilizing them in a way. That truly helps the team chase. Claypool is just another example of that

Point Park University in nineteen sixty eight the playhouse continued to operate now mostly for students for many years this way this wasn't a perfect fit though the buildings of the playhouse were old and not originally intended for theater. They were also much farther from Point Park's main downtown campus making the playhouse more trouble for the school than it was worth in late two, thousand, eighteen, the old Pittsburgh playhouse buildings crafts avenue were demolished as the spirit of the playhouse was moved to a new home. Oh, that's a bummer. It's like cool history. The new Pittsburgh playhouse complex is located on Forbes and fourth, and while it may not have as many ghosts lingering as the old buildings had it is at the very least a space that was designed and intended to be used for theatre. Sad. Sad. Okay. Well, moving on things the hunting section of the Pittsburgh playhouse. We gotta get my my spooky vocal but We also Halloween town reference. Have you sir. Familiar. Halloween town. Longtime ago. I know. Collectively, Judge Lino, she was not raised on D. Calms and it shows in times like this. There's a wonderful line that Debbie Reynolds has when she corrects her grandson on how to make a ghost noise like make it like this out of a ghost sign it was one of the daughters anyway she's like she's like she says something about it being like like lower and more melancholic like. Oh. She does this wonderful ghost impression where she gets really low at. Your Beautiful Register, she was Yeah I love her. Yeah. PAY TO A. Willing Grace. I can confirm I do not, but I mean if someone were do yeah. Open to. Po Box. Okay. So unfortunately, with the buildings now destroyed catching more sightings of the goals said to inhabit the Pittsburgh playhouse is basically impossible now so I'm just crossing my fingers that someone build something there soon so we can investigate I, agree, Mercedes. That would be wonderful. So let's move onto the specific spirits of the theater. There is weeping eleanor. She's a she's takes the form of sobbing heard throughout the theaters mainly in the lobbyists. Why me? Just, sobbing no form. Of. A formless blob sobbing it isn't mood I'll tell you that I mean, twenty twenty is, is we being?.

"That's Kelli Kuehne is doing too so that if you have these nagging pains to these niches these things that you're not sure we all know with traditional medicine if you call your family practice physician or orthopedic maybe three or four weeks before you can get in whereas with direct access. Maybe you can explain a little bit. What exactly is direct access because it has tremendous benefits for people who want to maintain their activity right and I do think Kelly spoke about this on her podcast as well but all fifty states in the United States have direct access physical therapy in some way taper forum in Pennsylvania? This means that. Let's say your your child has been having some nagging shoulder pain and it's really come on during their swim season. There's been no weather interesting trauma they haven't had any other illnesses. You're pretty sure that this is directly related to. Maybe they're possibly directly related to their swimming. A great person to see. Would it would be a direct access physical therapist so you don't need a referral from your physician. You can go to call your local physical therapy clinic and say hey are. Do you have a direct access. His physical therapist. Do I need a referral from my physician if their direct access. They'll say no come on in they'll do a full screen and they'll be able to identify whether this is something something. They can appropriately treat in the clinic and if they feel like there's something funny going on that maybe is not within their scope of practice they will refer you back to their physician and it's going to get you there. Get you to your results faster. Hopefully you bypass your physician and surgeon. All these wait times that you talked about imaging imaging fees so that's really what we want. We want to get people in with direct access physical therapists as much as possible. As long as it's safe I know one of the things that I've been told. There's a little over attention detailed and I still remember when I lived in Florida. One of the best physical therapists for running injuries stories happen to be in Atlanta. And I knew that because I lived in Atlanta so I was the idiot or the smart person who decided he was going to fly up to Atlanta. See this guy for something like what what you're doing. With Streamline Health Pittsburgh got the beginning of the year people said New Year's resolutions. I'm going to get more fit. I'm going to join the health club. Is this something that at Christmas gifts or New Year's gifts they can say. Hey you know. I'm going to buy a session with Kellyanne Streamline Health Pittsburgh so that she can come at a convenient time. Watch me Swim and say you you know. These are some things that might keep swimming. March April may three years from now rather than. You're the person at the end of January says. My shoulders hurt. I can't swim. That sounds like like a great Christmas gift but no I think it's definitely You know it's things that I offer. I do offer if your local to the Pittsburgh area where we are I offer in person. Sessions can come to whatever pull you train at. I can do stroke analysis. There everything's filmed as well so I do above and underwater filming from multiple will angles. So you will get my commentary during our one on one session. Then I will also record my verbal commentary over the video that Al Clip I send that to you with a summary of recommendations so you have a lot of things to hold on to refer to after our session. I also do dry-land screening or musculoskeletal screenings and dry-land programs in person as well but if you're not local to Pittsburgh you know most of this it falls in the injury prevention and wellness category and it doesn't have to be a formal physical therapy therapy evaluation. We can talk virtually so we can talk through video chat. You can send me your film for swimming so as long as you. You have some sort of access to a waterproof camera or water. Safe case for your phone. I'll give you the instructions to film your own stroke. You put that in a dropbox file or send it to me through email Al Clip it analyze it and give you all the things that I would give to an in person client and I know one of the things I think is dramatically underrated. Is the ability ready to look at your video over time. I know very often. I'll get my girlfriend to film being the dog's under a fill out Pittsburgh Movement tippin lifestyle hack but part of it is. I'll be able to look at my running form and see. Oh my hip is moving out a little bit or my foot is doing. This is what I need to work on so I think a porn point to emphasize with with analysis. It's not just a single time and do it and I think you alluded to this when we asked for some recommendations when you filled out the bio is you talked about having a once a year or once every couple all years kind of analysis from physical therapist. I know Dr Shirley Sarma has recommended. This people often go to their general practice or family. Practice physician for a health check-up but what is a yearly your by yearly physical therapist I think is movement is a lifestyle. It's important but maybe you could speak a little more on it. Well I think throughout the year the way that we move can change this based on demands of our everyday life. So maybe we've we've just transitioned from a job where we were a little bit more on our feet and now we sit in front of a computer eight hours a day you might have a little bit different posturing you might carry yourself a little bit of a different way throughout the day and you might have more aches and pains that you might want to see a physical therapist about I think a yearly checkup is something yearly checkup. The tuneup in the physical therapy world is definitely a goal that we're getting towards when it comes to swimming. I mean there's research that shows your bio mechanics can change from the beginning of this season to the end of the season so things can change based on the volume swimming that you're doing so I think touching base with somebody about your mechanics even especially especially a before and after I've actually done that with a few clients and it's been very helpful to just to see where we've made these accomplishments but we're still working towards these other goals with your technique. I think there's definitely a place for that and I encourage it. We've had some great information from bunny. VIRAG streamline health Pittsburgh if you're a mover hoover if you're thinking about swimming check out the show notes Bonnie I want to thank you for talking to fit lab. Pittsburgh about swimming about movement is a lifestyle. Thanks for having me this. It was fun..
