"Two week. Trial the last guy. I want to talk about is zack. In and i guess you can give him an incomplete for the season because the only through eighteen innings before going down with with season ending. Tommy john surgery and he's likely his yankees careers likely over. Maybe fairy end of next year. He come back but if you had to give a grade for his entire yankees tenure hundred twenty three innings. Two point six nine. Er three point eight nine. A multiple injuries stints couple ho- high profile losses. How do you grade his yankees tenure adult now He was definitely good. He was dependable option in the bullpen. In in two thousand nine hundred nine that his he came over he came over at the at the trade deadline. In what was it. Two thousand eighteen So yeah so the the nineteen. He was good he was. I mean he was actually again when he's pitching is good. His numbers look good. But it's a feel thing he was pretty gives very good in twenty twenty two in the in the shortened season this this year. He was bad and injured. But i mean again. You gotta go with expectations. They signed they paid them closer money right so he gets like a b minus. They paid them closer out. Say i was gonna say see but it depends on what you're expecting from from him coming back from that achilles. It's a hell of an injury to come back from. I didn't expect much from him. That season it was it was the three thousand nine hundred season that we needed to see where he was and i thought he puts well on twenty twenty but just yeah so see he. Didn't he didn't lock down the and we're talking about them as like you know the the andrew miller The dmc yeah run emc. Yeah yeah talking about that. Those were the days where if the yankees had a lead which was not often. it was locked down. That was fun. That was fun. That's but that shows you exactly what happens to relief. Pitcher sue miller injury just basically shelves his career to to a halt compared to where he may have given up longevity his career for the two thousand and teen is potentially despots. Play this at all this year with the match He was to start season and they cut him. I think did so. Did he not get picked up hurt. I don't even know. I felt like we didn't hear much about Down matanzas which is god. Damn shane he really goddamn damn shame. I'm looking at his transactions log. I don't know why i don't know this. I feel like there was something that was that was said at some point. This midseason. yeah. I mean he.

"Maybe he was slightly overused in big spots but maybe that was also a product of the bullpen kind of going through a lot of turmoil midseason and and the options were limited. Then so what's your grade for peralta. I'm gonna give him a be all right. Yeah i mean you said be plus. I wouldn't necessarily disagree because again expectations play a big role. Here i think he was. Maybe slightly overused. B b is fine with me okay. The thing i pulled on her. Roll this chapman. He gave up his first run to the white sox on may twenty third may twenty third through the end of the season. He pitched thirty eight innings. He had thirty one walks. What's and he did and he he didn't walk a guy for a while right or give up not heating. Give up a run on saying from the day. He i give up a run this season before may twenty third his stats were just unreal. So we talked about that fifteen percent walk rate. But it's really kind of skewed because it's almost nine per nine because it's like eight per nights seven point two eight per nine innings. Starting on may twenty third crazy. How do you have that as a as a relief as closer like that is so bad. So bad klay homes. He was one of the midseason acquisitions and he definitely stepped into some higher leverage situations and succeeded. He was not as good numbers. Wise as louis sessa was but he was used in bigger spot. So whatever sixty nine innings. I was that one for one. There was not a one for one there but the three point six five era. Actually these numbers Looks like that. Bob told were for his entire season but again i thought clay was was pretty good. I i even give him an a minus. Yeah mean i'm. I'm i'm here for chad homes. I think i think that will chat homes klay homes. I did they did I the acquisition because it was within the same window of getting rid of. It's like lumped together in brains but they were actually not the same move. I don't even necessarily maybe it was a corresponding move to open up a forty man but He's he was good and he's effective against right handed pitching. I guess right handed batting. And that's what they're using him for like. The guy was nasty in moments. I you down zone. I like it and keeps the ball down. He's a he's a guy that i like it. I'm glad he's in control now. So that was a big deal. That was a big part of that deal that he's in arbitration so he's under control and was not so they made a choice there which i didn't think they needed to but they did and at bull. That's the problem. And i'm happy so yeah i'm going to give him a. I'm going to give him an a minus There were some big spots that that wasn't as good. And do you want to operate. Because i looked at his yankees numbers. Twenty eight innings. One point six one era two point one zero fit. Those are things something sticking in my head where you look. I was happy with him. I actually had some pretty pretty Pretty decent confidence with him right off the season as well when he was there. It's a feel thing. Albert albert was used decent amount thirty six innings five point one five era. I'm thinking of that. Specific game in tampa where he was left out there to dry. I think gave up sick. It runs and might not recorded or might have only recorded one out so that can skew things but he was a triple a swing man if we have to grade them. I'm giving him an incomplete on edge. He deserves he deserves a better situation. Deserves more time better. He wasn't in like a complete upgrade. he needs to. I hope that he is He's he showed flash potential a few guys that showed and flash potential But what about louis. He'll we don't. He's not in in one of these. If i'm putting louis he'll you could put him in the starting spot but i think that long-term he might be a relief pitcher and i'm putting them in the same boat. If i'm comparing the arms that we've seen come up lucille lucille's on that gets me most excited about a you might pop but he also might be just a guy lewis. You'll obviously had the the scoreless streak to start his career which was awesome and then he started to get hit a little bit And he ended with twenty nine innings to a three point. Oh seven era. Four-point fascinates command. His command was. That's what got him in trouble. Nets what yet how many innings twenty nine innings nineteen walks. We're all your all. This chapman lake leading leading. Pack your while this showing showing the young guys how to how to do it Look the the yankees. Have a good amount of right handed pitchers in their farm system. Been talking about this for a while. Dave acquired them. They've they've They've gotten a lot of them through The international signings international free agent signings as. Well they need a lot of these guys have location problems. And that's that's what it is like. If they can't look at their fastball. They're in trouble. Lewis ios exactly that he's electric. He's fun to watch. i like. I like his competitive. This on the mound I i hope that he can develop and be able to consistently throw strikes. But that's that's his. Achilles heel is being able to throw strikes if he could pepper zone Then he's gonna be nasty because he's he's he's he's got a lot of good stuff there. Lucas.

"The way you can throw it as far as accuracy and like being on a dime. It affects that big time. And i think it's a big part of his game and so if for the next couple of seasons he is a three point five three point. Six a pitcher. That's not good enough. That's not what you're getting paid for. They're getting paid for it. Two point eight yards in your in your prime. You're getting paid for seven shutout innings. You're not getting paid for. Can't make it out of the third inning. In a wildcard game at fenway park to big problem if he is not the dominant pitcher without sticky stuff big problem. Here's here's what's going to happen. And i and i kind of expect it to happen. I expect there to be a course correction baseball for the sticky stuff. They're going to figure out a way to get these guys more grip on the ball. They're just going to figure that out. It's going to be a big sticking point. Didn't do that on purpose. Embarrassed for it. But i did. It is going to be. It's going to be something whether it's talked about or not. It's going to be one of those room discussions. They need to figure that out because across the board. You're looking at a lot of guys that just were became different and or dare coal just is figure out the way that he can Be as effective with different stuff so i. I do think that they're going to figure something out over the off season. There's a lot of time to to make some adjustment whether it's just baseball or baseball and the players or just the players and with unsaid thing So that'd be but we need hat. They need that. They need that gear. Coal needs to locate his fastball. And if you need something to locate his fastball a little bit more than just you know licking your fingers. Then he's gotta figure that shit out he really does and he's to do it within the parameters of the rule because otherwise yeah. He's a three five pitcher. Corey kluber is up next and when he was on the mound was pretty good but therein lies. The problem only started sixteen games through eighty innings. He did have a three point. Eight three era in a three point eight four fifth almost exactly the same and he had the no hitter that was obviously the highlight of his season on his own bobblehead night on the road which had never happened in baseball history expectations in my mind. Were pretty low for corey kluber. So this is kind of exactly what i expected. When he's pitching bernie good but he's not gonna pitch that much. So i don't know i give him a b. I give cashman a d. minus for relying on corey kluber but corey kluber himself. I give him a b. Yeah core corey. Kluber is a b. I and he threw one pitch to one guy against the he had a bobblehead in texas. That was never really used because he didn't pitch and he came back from from these injuries and and did what he did. I think when he was on the mound yeah pretty good took him a little bit to get the confidence. I think in the The trust in his stuff but when he did that yeah he was good. So i'd say he is pretty fair. it's hard to give him a see if if i'm weighing injuries i'll do that. But i think the performance when he was on he's a solid b. jordan. Montgomery i give him a solid. He was he was again remember. Expectations here thirty starts. One hundred fifty seven innings. Three point eight three are a three point three war and he had the most starts on the yankees with three runs or less among the pitching staff. I give him a solloway. Took a big step forward this year. Yeah i don't want to continue to To agree with you. But i i would rather not but the but join montgomery's it's hard to look at him and point out the bad things he did. He did come back full season. He was consistent. He's number three starter. He needs to be a consistent productive number. Three starter for the yankees. That's exactly what we want him to be. That's exactly what he was. I thought he was he was he was good You know he had his stopping moments. He got deeper into games during a good amount of endings. So i'm really happy with the progression. I expect i. I do expect another another step up from him actually even going into next year where he can be even better. Because i think the he's got the ability to be even better. And i think the way baseball is today with the type of type of arsenal that he has. In the way that he pitches moves. The ball around has a good fastball. Has a little bit of a different delivery look. I think that he's got the ability to get a lotta guys out in today's fastball. Age so remember we were analyzing his fastball. And like as far as velocity goes it was it was pretty low but the spin rate was pretty good in the hard contact was was really good. And that's that tells you need ninety. Eight miles an hour to have an effective fastball. And i think he found a way to have an effective fastball at ninety three miles an hour. So yeah i was. I was very pleased with jordan. Montgomery jamison location baby location location location. It hits real estate. it's his starting pitching. It's the most important thing jamison tie on. This is a tough one for me. Degreed Twenty eight starts. Which is more than i expected. One hundred and forty one innings. Do you remember. Do you remember the number in spring training. What was it hundred. Forty twenty one was at one forty one forty kind of aggressive but it's just hilarious to me that they're like no no no. It's not a hundred four hundred forty one innings pitched. Oh that was what the yankees had. Not what we i. That's the yankee said. But then they're they're trying to say it's like no. We don't have a plan. Yeah okay four. Point four era four point four six v listen. He had his moments where you could see what he can be but injuries again inconsistency. Which maybe you blame on the injuries. But he's an injury guy..

Rep. Greg Steube Blasts Moonshot Home Run In Congressional Baseball Game
"Without going to congressman Greg Steve from Florida Republican congressman hit a monster home run last night the congressional baseball game Congressman you miss Ron DeSantis at all He was a great baseball player Now governor he was I think he was a House district 6 or something in Congress He was a great baseball player too though wasn't he before he became the governor of Florida Yeah and we didn't So he was running for governor when I was running for Congress So we didn't overlap I didn't have the opportunity to either work with him here in Congress or into you were in the Senate right If you were in the Florida Senate at the time is that right I was in the state Senate Yeah yeah he's a big miss So let me ask you this I was a baseball player Myself and I love baseball I grew up around baseball my thing So I do want to ask you a couple of political questions Obviously I don't want to waste your time but seriously will you look in fastball Did you know that there was no hook coming Did you know this was fastball and you're like I'm zoned in right here and I'm just crushing this thing as it comes down to 5 Well what's interesting and a lot of people didn't realize this because so Biden had just gone into the Republican Douglas And I was next up starting the inning off and I was also pitching So I came up came around the plate and the umpire kind of motion for me to go into the box And I asked him I said there is a ton of press and all these people on the field and I literally said to him I said if I had a foul ball and it hits the president in the face it's going to be your fault And the catcher who's a Democrat was like hey sovereign immunity And then I looked at the picture and I said are you ready to go And the picture Aguilar is like yeah go ahead I'm like all right so if you watch the video feed they were actually having the video on the president and the Republican dugout and then it quickly turns as I get up to play to the plate and the pitcher starts to throw It quickly clips to that So I'm just happy that I completely distracted the entire stadium because everybody was focused on Biden in the Republican dugout because the Democrats wanted to see what the Republicans were going to do And the Republicans were just watching him down there And you hear this you hear me hit the shot And everybody's attention turned from Biden to the field and it was just kind of funny that I was able to completely distract the entire stadium for what was happening on

"pitching" Discussed on KNBR The Sports Leader
"Pitching staff who needs extra rest and determine how they want to manipulate their 28 man roster moving forward So Solano could be the first guy back of the group. That's out right now, Gabe Kapler said. When Alex Dickerson went on the I l on Saturday with a hamstring strain that could be 10 days could be a little bit longer for him. Dickerson's bat hasn't been what it was in 2019 2020 for the Giants. So you know they would love to have him at course. Field in Colorado ballpark, where he's done an incredible amount of damage. Everyone remembers the 563 home run game last year on September 1st. But that's not the reality for them right now, so they're going to need to rely on their right handed hitting outfielders in Austin Slater and Kris Bryant and maybe even tire Astrada and Darren rough out there to, you know, take some more at bats in situations against right handed pitchers where Alex Dickerson would obviously had the platoon advantage as a left handed batter, And so that's the situation. That the Giants will be monitoring and determining how they will plug and play in the outfield and Wilmer Flores Gabe Kapler said a couple of weeks and I bring up Wilmer Flores and a couple of weeks because He is a guy who has really grinded this season. Outside of the 10 days he missed with a hamstring issue in the month of May, the Giants have to push Wilmer Flores far more than they thought they would. At the beginning of the season, you go back to the 2019 season, Wilmer Flores was playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks set career highs with batting average and O P s. That season played 89 games and the Giants looked at that. And they said the D backs really chose their spots for Wilmer Flores. They made sure that he was fresh. They made sure that he was getting the perfect platoon. Matchups. Whatever possible and Wilmer Flores has just been stressed through the summer months, June July, August, has had to play a lot with Evan Longoria out with Chris Bryant dealing with the the nagging injury last week that held him out of the lineup for a few days with Brandon Belt on the shelf. Omar Flores with making more starts at first base with Tommy lost Ella out. Wilmer Flores was playing some second base as well, So they got to a point where Wilmer Flores had just been playing through. You know, hamstring pain for much of the season, and he ultimately ends up with Hamstring strain, and so he's gonna be out for a couple weeks and I bring that up because No, it didn't sit well with Giants fans on Saturday night that Brandon Crawford wasn't in the lineup. The M V P candidate, your best player, not playing against the Dodgers, even against Julio Urias pitcher who he has historically struggled against when the Jazz are going with the bullpen game against areas they didn't have Crawford. The lineup obviously do bond his at bats didn't look good other than the double that he just snuck inside the foul line. And, of course, the error is the moment that everyone will remember. But Brandon Crawford, the last few weeks has been grinded in a way that's similar to Wilmer Flores, where he's had to be in the lineup. Almost Every day. I have been dealing with lower back tightness on the Giants Last road trip number 16 games in a row. They flew back from Atlanta played Milwaukee at home on Monday night. Cross country flight. I know Gabe Kapler says No one cares. But at the end of the day last 15 games for Brandon Crawford, 1 89 average 5 29 0 P s. You've got to get him off his feet. And of course I brought it up. Do you get him off his feet on Thursday against Eric Lower the Milwaukee Brewers When you've already lost three in a row, you could head into a tough Dodgers series on a four game losing streak. Do you wait until Monday and really try to push him through against this Dodgers pitching staff? The Chinese just decided they had to get him off his feet on Saturday, and I know that that approach upsets a lot of Giants fans who viewed this series as the biggest of the season for San Francisco who see beating the Dodgers as paramount. But In the giant calculus in all of this. If Crawford is healthier for the remainder of this 16 game stretch by taking Saturday off and he can play the Final four, he can play three of those four and then he can play more down the stretch. They view it as a necessary day off and something that will ultimately give them a better shot. They're looking at things with a big picture perspective, and I realized it's very different from Bruce Bochy. I realized it's very different. From the way that things have been unfolding in San Francisco for the better part of the last 10 15 years because this coaching staff has brought a different approach, But at the end of the day, 86 50 They, for whatever reason, found a formula that has worked. They found a way to rest their players and keep them healthy. And I think they looked at the warmer forest situations. One that may have been avoidable if they were able to get him off his feet more if they didn't have to grind him with Tommy La Stella being down this week with the hamstring issue that has kept him out of the lineup for a few days, so Tough situations all around, and I think that everyone realizes that if the Giants are going to be there at the very end, they're going to need Crawford at his absolute best over the final two weeks of the season, No head to head matchups against L. A. But the M V P candidate has got to be playing well because the Giants saw what happened over the last two weeks from Buster Posey and Brandon Crawford were slumping. At the same time, the offense looked ugly, and there's a possibility that continues. On Sunday night against Walker Buehler and outside young leading candidate in my Mind, the guy who should win the award who has been outstanding all season, who has beaten the Giants a few times and has really taken it to this Giants lineup, But the Giants have also won two of their five matchups against Bueller. So far this season. He's doing the Kershaw special facing San Francisco six times in the same regular season. And so Walker Beeler will go for the Dodgers Giants going with the bullpen game and dominantly on When we come back, we will talk with Justice Delos Santos. He's been covering this series in this home. Stand for MLB dot.

"Fan like tune into what's happening but i mean i sort of grown up. I sort of stopped playing baseball like watching as much. But i'd say i wonder casual fan so in that sort of knows what's going on enough that they could talk about like stats and players and stuff like that. I feel like if you can talk specifics. You're more than a casual fan. If you talk specific that's why that's why i said standings and like if they're winning or losing where you're definitely going to a game for more of a social thing or or so. You can post it on your instagram story. Or you know you're going to the chicken bucket or yeah well no because if you know if you know the food at yankee stadium now now we might be talking as a different level. My wife leeann knows about the chicken bucket jr. okay okay. food hold on. I gotta tell you the story. So dern corey kluber is no hitter as the eighth inning or something and leeann comes to the room like the yankees pitching no hitter tonight. And she's like what does that mean that means the team doesn't have any hits and she was like so. The yankees pitchers only thrown strikes. A mike know that means he hasn't given up hit. She's like buddies. Probably throwing a lot of strikes right. Well yeah and i got it down to the dumbest possible level that i almost second guess myself i was like she was. She technically what she said. I was thinking how is it a positive of normally high of strikes. How's it possible. You've you've known me for six years you've consumed so much secondhand baseball yet. No little it's like. She has i if you like you acquitted secondhand smoking. She's secondhand chain smoking baseball at this point and she still knows nothing about the sport. It's it's amazing for sport it if you're not paying attention to it if it's just on you you have no idea what's happened is you don't know what's happening. It's like another language. But i know more about the bachelor. Then she knows about baseball. I was just going to compare that. I was just going to make this comparison and i don't watch the bachelor okay. Okay i'll go next so so bevan's for the first date that bevin and i ever went on the first first date she it was We knew each other through like Like rex sports stuff like kickball volleyball. Things you play after college and you're just trying to be social. I knew her through that. So i new shoes athletic. I date was like a joke thing. We went and we hit ground balls to each other. You've told me this story and it's funny every time. Magin that bob date. What are you gonna do bring your gear. I wasn't really dating. Hey no i was like all goes. She played softball and college. So we went and she laid out for a ball but then rate their she dove for. God yeah what. This is ridiculous. And that's the moment you know. That was literally the moment. I knew it was like this has the now we're done here but seven have more to me. She duped me athletic. She played sports. She played she's good at softball doesn't she knows the game. She knows the game cousin watching goddamn second of it doesn't watch a second of it as wait a minute. So we're not watching. You're not gonna watch any of this. You're not gonna pay attention to any of this like the to. She knows the news. You know so. The people are she. She knows game. She knows the sport like she could talk about it. See that's important knowing if you know the game if you played softball replacements to be a yankee fan. I'd like i want her to be a yankee fan. So that we can just go said it'd be much easier for for for my household to have a kid grow up in it watching the yankees all the time. Even though i'm going to chain him down to the couch. And watch the yankee games but it would be easier but if you said to bevan the yankees are pitching a no hitter. She wouldn't come back with so they've throw it a lot of strikes.

"All right. Let's get to bob intern bob. The intern is what. I think i was calling you bob. The and ten lead it with segment. Yeah so we were sort of touching on it before how this the makeup of this team with a solid pitching staff. We haven't really seen it much in the past is the past few years. The pitching has always been kind of questionable up in the air so looking back at the twenty eighteen twenty eighteen team. Would you prefer twenty eighteen type yankees team which was considered a top three offense with a mediocre pitching staff or twenty twenty one yankees team which is so far considered a top three pitching staff and a pretty mediocre offense or. It's difficult to say what. I would prefer this point because we're only a month in month two months into this season and we but we know what the other yankees team looks like and i was just done with what that the yankees team looks like. I was just tired of the same shit different day with that team so I far and away prefer what. I've watched over the past five weeks for weeks than what i watched for three years with a bad starting pitching staff a great bullpen and office as aggressive greener situation though. Because if we're watching it reversed you're going the other way right so we're looking at the fact that booth and you're right. It's a difficult question to answer because of that. I think because we've seen the offense just go you know bonkers in the past few years and then get shut down by good right handed pitching in the playoffs again. That's that's my my problem here because when we're talking about a gang busters offense is that one. Are we talking about one. That's like just just mashing the ball and hitting home runs all the time. And that's how they're scoring or are we talking about one's an offense where you actually have a decent lineup construction. You guys that. Can you know move runners around a weekly the specifically the yankees offense of the past few years i would i will take. I will take the pitching all over the offense if i'm trying to win a championship. I'll take the pitching over the offense all day because i think You know if you have a domino pitching staff you could scratch across runs if you have a shitty pitching staff out of games so the the first situation when you have a good pitching staff. You're in more games. Therefore you have more opportunity and more situations to To see scotch across and to And to take a lead or to win a game so to me that one gives you a better opportunity to win. I ask you one or the other. I actually think this the way. The yankees have been playing. This year allows more margin for error in the way the yankees were constructed and needed to win ballgames in the past where the way they need to win. Ballgames in the past is hit two or more home runs in the game. Get four plus innings audio rotation and then hope that your bullpen is locked down for four or five innings. That was just way too much to rely on every night. Roy we said this look when when when the race started doing this opener nonsense okay. Great this this is something. That's impossible to sustain impossible to sustain. There's like this is can be one of those fads where everybody tries to mimic it. But nobody's gonna do it the same way. These guys had a situation with their roster where they were able to execute this. There's they had a very good pitching staff there. Some luck involved with. But it's just not sustainable. You need to many people to be good on one given day multiple times. It just doesn't happen. The odds are baseball is the odds are against you period in baseball. The odds are always against you in baseball. So by trying to be smarter than the game. These smarter than the odds be smarter than you know the law of averages. It's just not sustainable. It can work in small knots time. But what what do you think the fan would prefer offense like. I feel like people might look at this yankees team so far and maybe baseball in general this year and think. Oh that sucks. Like no one's hitting. I wear where the guy's hitting wired the yankees hitting six home runs because when i went to the game in two thousand nineteen they hit. Six home runs every time i went. And that's that's how it was across major league baseball's the average fan would choose when you say average fan. It's we you're saying casual fan one. That doesn't follow every night. Just what checks box. Scores or checks highlights. No no. that's just casual of casual fan. Then because i think that matters here i would say casual fan is someone who goes to a handful of games a year maybe watches half of the regular season going for entertainment value or going. Yeah they're going to go. They're gonna watch the games. Maybe not even the whole games half of half. You know what i mean. The they'll check into half of half of the time they'll go to four or five games on a saturday afternoon and then the watson and the they're leaving in the eighth inning and then they'll watch watching the playoffs then when the playoffs come around. They're going to stick around all nine innings. That's the casual fan. If you're doing that though i mean that's enough to like you should be in tune with what's happening.

"Triple play. Where do you rank that as far as exciting plays in baseball like i feel like inside the park home. Run triple play those those two. Because they're so rare that are triple play. You don't even you don't see coming. It takes the same amount of time really as a double play. So there's not as much anticipation in it. There's not a build up for a triple play like you'd never thinking it before the before the before it happens. No joke about it. Like a triple play would be nice. Exactly you're saying jasser screwed just talking shit. Whatever it's not like. You actually think anything like that's going to happen. The ball has to be perfectly hit and it was it was perfectly it was hit the perfectly to rochelle so that he made that turn and then turn it second like you got to have some mustard on that ball to and and there was mustered on apple. I mean the the fact that They turned it beautiful. Stretch by voight. It was gorgeous. It's exciting when it happens. It's exciting ship because when you're seeing it you're not expecting everybody is fired up. I mean the the cheese grin on chapman. After that thing happened like probably the ba- i it looked like it was the best thing he's ever seen in his entire life. So yeah inside. The park home runs there but just like exciting place. I don't know man a guy. I scoring from first base on a on a double late game. Okay but because this is he gonna do it as you are. They sending him. They're sending and there's a plate the plate. Let me let me say plays at the plate up or no longer thing. Because you can't block the plate you could still. It's still thing because it's still exciting because it still. It can last exciting now. It's this guy over anymore. Having you can't pull a pete rose anymore and that's what made it extra exciting. I'd say an extra exciting. I'd say home home robberies like really good homerun robberies where the guys like in the air well over the fence robs a homerun. Maybe if it's late in the game and it's an preserves the lead inside the parkers We're talking about when the yankees fan tries to block the the robbed run. Because that's what happened today. Wait what what are you talking. Frazier went off for the ball. It was at the age it was a it was a it made it a four three game. I think that homerun did and yankee fan in the front row caught the ball. He was behind the fence. But like right there. Frazier was the. They showed the replied. The angle was great but he had a chance at it. It was other going to glance off the end of his glove. Flop out of it or he was gonna catch. It was close enough where he was. It looked like he had a chance full disclosure. The game was on the ipad. And what i was doing at that point in the game was we were trying to see. Harrison would go in the pool. He didn't there you go. Clint frazier got got Got robbed robbing home run. I thought you meant there was a ball. Gio hit the game that went off the very top of the wall and a fan almost reached over and grabbed. It pulled the jeffrey mayor. But things a pissed missile. I when taken it's domino. This was this was all high. Fly ball it. Would you know it's an out in many places and it scraped just on top of the wall and dude caught. He wasn't looking. He wasn't paying attention. He was trying to catch the ball eye on the ball. Not nothing nothing. No awareness of what's happening with the plano awareness of frazier is yankee fan. Catches definitely impedes the catch as a yankee fan close to the wall and the other teams heading. You gotta know that first of all right field especially there's a monster playing right field and if there's not there's okay. It's clint frazier this time. But still those are catchable balls. You gotta you gotta let the guy play. I almost feel they do have these signs. Do not interfere with the ball in play but instead of those signs to explain like no the situation back the fuck up when the other team is headed exactly possible that rightfielder king catch it. That's a good thing for your team. You don think about. Who's who's at bat. Okay if if the yankees are about. This is what you do. It's like it's like one of those flow charts if this is literally you're supposed to react to the play. Not think while the balls in the air to make sure you're mentally prepared for what's going to happen so that you don't have that extra that extra time to think about it. Well the fans are less apart of that the on field action than ever because of the nets all around the foul territory. So you right field. There's no excuse there no but you can't have a A bar what's his name bartman. Yeah it was not. You can't yeah. I think so bartman. Yeah that doesn't sound right cubs thousand three. Yeah i know who you're talking about. Yeah far turtleneck. can you google that bob. Do you know what you were one. You know what we're talking about now. Google bartman two thousand three cubs. See what comes up. You're not going to like this next topic's scott. Dj lemay been looking like dj lemay. Who's not been looking like. An mvp caliber player is what which is what the yankees got in two thousand nineteen in two thousand twenty. So far is hitting two sixty with a sub seven hundred pius and a one oh one. Wrc plus so. He's basically been a league average offensive player the yankees offenses not been good overall. I'm not expecting some of these guys to if you're if you're going into a a game and you've got tyler wade in there and brett gardner cuyahoga yoga and mike ford. Like those guys are aren't going to be hitting digital. Who needs to start playing better. He needs to start hitting more. That's what they paid him to do. Start being dj lament. Who again and that. We haven't.

"Top three. If they are as a starting pitching staff they rank second now sorry they rank fifth in innings pitched with two hundred fifty into their starting pitching staff starting pitching staff. They are fifth in baseball in innings pitched the dodgers are one giants oakland. Whatever numbers than how far how. What's the thirteen thirteen innings behind the dodgers. Okay yeah so. I i think we look this up. I don't know if you either way there were they were they. Were up there and know it. When i saw that it was baffling i was like i couldn't believe it. You know you're watching it happen. You're seeing these guys get through. But when you see the culmination of that and their actual volume sir ramping up towards the top of the league. It's pretty unbelievable. Yeah just have not understanding what. The philosophy of this team has been over the past three or four years. Plus they have not been up in the top five never my been top half of the league. Nevermind top five in this stat. This i think is so important so important to a regular season baseball team. We have not seen. I'm so excited if this maintains how this team is going to look at the end of the how this pitching staff as a whole is going to look at the end of the year versus how it's looked in the past few years when they bullpen has had to carry a crazy amount the bullpen. I think i had this data couple of weeks ago since two thousand eighteen ranked third in major league baseball and innings pitched the rays. Were number one but the rays bullpen opens in every they they have their rotation was openers. So that's why. That was skewed. And i forget what other teams so the yankees were third and other bottom in the league and bullpen. I this is like the data most excited about this year with this yankee. Yeah i mean the crazy thing is when you look back. It's still the offense that that's what's failed us in the playoffs. Not the pitching staff. But it's the it's the bullpen has. Let me finish. I mean if you wanna take the two thousand and nineteen lcs okay. The yankees had to have chad. Green open an elimination game and he had already pitched four times in that series. Hopefully if the starting pitching doesn't get knocked out in the fourth inning or the fifth inning every single night chat greens not fried by game six. And he's not opening game so you say it's the offense that failed them but the same time. The pitching failed them to. It's just failed them in a different way. No you're right when you when you talk about the construction of and and the way that they've had to attack some of these games or at least the way that they i'm not saying that they had to they didn't have to start david garcia For an inning and then bringing bringing hat. They didn't have to do that. They chose to do that but in big moments in big opportunities when this yankees team has to go up against You know good starting pitching. They've been shut down many times over and and has been a one of a significant reasons why they get bounced because the pitching staff has for whatever reason pulled together strong enough did enough. What the what they had to keep them in games and and the offense was in a position to win and just didn't do it multiple times over again. I don't think it's a it's a setting up. Its chicken or the egg here at the same time when you have a pitching staff that is fully rested fully rested. Well rested more rested as a major league staff can be at the end of the year. That's kind of what we're looking at. If everything continues to go along this path for it goes along this path. You know we're gonna also get a severino back. Who knows who knows what what his impact will be who knows where he will be the contributor if it's in the bullpen at the beginning if it is immediately in the starting rotation there's there's there are other guys coming as well so it's looking good i don't want to step on bob segment but All says look at the previous world series winners. They have not been constructed like the yankees were constructing their pitching staff over the past years. They had three or more starting pitchers that they relied on every night to go. Deep ball game goes back to the kansas city royals. That's that's where this whole blueprint got drawn up but we debunked that because we've looked starting pitching in the playoffs but we also have dominant back end right. They did it must see you can have a trash bullpen and win a championship. I mean they had a dominant back. End dominant funny. When you say it that way they did dominant. How about friday's game. One of the wackier baseball games. I can remember watching. It started out as a strikeout fest. Overall forty eight percent of the outs came on strikeouts. Twenty six strikeouts fifty four total and there was a triple plan there. So that skewed things a bit. The yankees struck out fifteen times team thirteen against carlos wrought on in just six innings and he struck out the first five hitters of the game that fist In the triple play happens. Get the yankees out of a jam. Looks like the yankees. We're going to lose that game. Chapman was going to possibly give up his first. Run on in the ninth inning on that boom triple play which is.

"pitching" Discussed on KNBR The Sports Leader
"He was pitching and as he was pitching, they were pumping in the noise and It was just kind of the crowd been, like, just you know, the of a regular crowd just kind of buzzing. During a game and it did look weird because he was pitching. There was obviously no one in the stands. He's he's throwing, and there's a crowd. And so maybe they did it just to motivate him. So Alex would get would when he was picture. They said there were tests, but they're not going to do that at Dodger Stadium. I mean, you think they're gonna do that, while the Dodgers are playing in the stadium itself? No one's talked about that. We talked about doing it on radio and TV think they may do it in the actual stadium, you know? Well, it would almost be be because then the players would be used to it like we're talking about with Austin's later like You can't hear what they're saying or talking about or when you make a mound visit or I don't know, But that's that's what was going on when he was pitching. So what they have to do then in the seventh inning to make it really lifelike in Ella, they're gonna have to turn the volume down like everybody leaving was a Chan earlier. You need it down like six because they're all l A true late arriving, leave early, right? Yeah. I don't think they'll do that in the p A system that I thought they were doing. They the Seattle Seahawks, It was wasn't loud or anything. It was just kind of a you know a cry? No, but I haven't heard a buzzing that is murder Game day present. Today we're doing Maybe it's just for the workout. The athletic had. I want to give me a few of these because you're going to be gone. So the athletic did this food survey. It's actually kind of funny. It's about it's about the ballpark, but it's just like food and sports. In general. For example, Number seven Question on the survey was its dollar hot dog night and you're trying to impress a friend. How many can you put away? Without making a mess. The number one answer surprises me. 7 24% of the people said they could put away seven hot dogs during a game. Could you put away $7 during a game? Like like put in my pocket or no eating? Eat seven or die. How big a day Not every hot jumbo dog just going with like a regular Dodger dogs. What are we doing? If it was dollar hot, not night. They would just give you the basic You know, like the Milwaukee Never on a small normal I couldn't all American Frankfurter. I mean, if I had jaws and Kobe, I jaws to my left and Kobayashi to my right. I could do 77. In 9 59 But now I couldn't I could not do so. Why would the athletic do this thing about when you can't nobody can go to a ball park down, so we're going to do is tease everybody with ballpark food because there are people when you're watching home, get a cook, Hot dog. Maybe get him in homes. That could be Ah, Let's see. Do you upgrade your soda at the state of Nevada Souvenir Cup? It depends where I am and what the souvenir cup is, But I have many of those, do you Look, The problem is to make sure the souvenir cup makes it home. You don't know me. Never know you could leave the souvenir cup, but I've got a few You know, it's one I've saved forever and ever and ever, And I don't even know why. Because I don't like them. Deep down. I respect him. For the Pittsburgh Steelers had the Iron City beer if they actually had, like me, Joe Green and Elsie Greenwood already homes out here. Yeah, yeah, I've still got that somewhere. Let me really Garage, But I think you know I do have the can. Now I've saved some. I got some sharks one here. I've got some. I definitely have some Oakland A's ones. Yeah, I depends on On what exactly it is, But yes, that that that's worth. Ah, that's worth the extra cost. Yes, I do today. You're a big tipper. But I don't think even you do this. It says Do you tip the concession counter worker? Again. That depends. 46. No. Well, I mean, if you're in line It depends if I'm going up and getting a dog and a beer for myself. Probably not. But if I'm getting like Typical papa order where I've got eight kids hanging all over me, and it's eight dogs and three pretzels, and it's 102 sodas. And it's a complicated deal, then. Yeah, I think I would know you do What's that? What's the standard protocol for that? But I think it just depends. I sometimes I will. I guess if I do cash I'd normally do. I don't. I don't think I put it the tip line. Generally speaking, I think I don't think I'm being chip here Cheap here because the next question is. Do you tip the vendor in the stands? Who sells your beer? 67% people? That's yes. Oh, you okay? That's a big keep the change. Yeah, that's true, but I just think it's so over price and it's not their fault. But it's so damn overpriced. I think a lot of people going there and doing that well, but they don't so they like cleverly, so the beer is going to be $8.50 including right, You know? Well, yeah, so then it's just easier to give the tenants. They keep it or write a nine. You know, they don't like they don't make it where it's harder to champ. They make it so it's easier to tip. But the question would be were talking about earlier. Everything's going to be cashless transaction games and already has started. Does that mean well chip less? Cause you don't you know you can you do what you make that decision when your order because you said if it's like, you know the change, you know, it's a buck 50 or whatever. Like you said then. Yeah, yeah, keep it. But if you're doing a car, and you probably wouldn't See, I don't penalize the people if it's more expensive. Less. You tip it the car wash. Yeah, and the prices the Carl Aw, shirt scene. That's true, but it's ridiculous to think they've got more. But it's not their fault that the Carla's guys getting rich. So you still gotta tip those guys? You know, I don't I don't penalize him for the Ridiculous prices, and sometimes it's just easier. Plus, you know, say you're in the middle seat on the roll, and everybody hands it downright again, Woody, and then you have the guilt. Everybody's looking at your life, and I have my 25 cents back, please. That's it, really. You gotta say You're like a cape that shed age buddy. You yell that He's looking at you that thanks for the 75 cents Keep it pick a winner. This is a great question. Question 15 of the survey. Would you trust ballpark sushi? Ballpark Sushi on Seattle. Trusting I'm devouring that we talked about it earlier. Each of the role of natural depends where you are. Yeah. In San Francisco, you would battle Yes. I don't think they're in New York. Yes, Yeah, Bopper. Sushi is good, but it's not a ballpark. At a ballpark come that way. Kind of 61% said no that they wouldn't But you're right. You entrusted cause you think it's contaminated or what? I would be good, but I would think it just depends on where you are like that. That's not just ballpark sushi to me. You know you're certain parts of the country and not just in Minneapolis where they get their sushi. I mean, I just I'm not seeing it and I'll get big Lake Minnetonka. Right. Things have alone. You have that. I want you to go. Right. So you know, that's that's a general rule, right? Yeah, you know, but the sushi it's Safeco is sure. But like, what about this? What about like, like you're not doing it at the gas station? You're nothing like sushi was definitely places. You don't get it. I don't. I wouldn't get out of the store. Now I have a different rule there because I have consumed a lot of my meals in the car. Just because I got to go from one to the next one job to the next sushi is a great road. It is your rights. Fantastic. Certain sandwiches. You know, You have to be careful there almost spilled all over your lap. And now I'm not gonna do it on the air and look like I soiled my pants here. So certain certain food. Sushi is a great driving eating. Uh, delicacy. So I have been known to pick it up at the gas station. But you know what? I don't have to go to a gas station anymore through By the way, in and out Burger Taco Bell. Those places are not good way too messy, Legal and announce all over your laugh. It's candy, then that's probably why I don't like it..
"pitching" Discussed on Daily Sales Tips
"Today's tip comes from Andrew with cease. Andrew is a serial entrepreneur known for forming. Rush tech support in twenty fourteen in his living room since then the company has grown to over ten million in sales with dozens of employees and multiple locations. He hosts his own podcast self made and sober where he interviews entrepreneurs who have struggled with addiction in the past and are in long term recovery in that show. He dissect the habits and routines of successful people and find ways to grow personally and professionally he also helps a Spiring entrepreneurs grow and scale their businesses with his coaching company self-made coaching here. He is with today's tip. This is Andrew Lewis season. My sales tip of the day is do research on who you are going to be pitching to it happens. So. Often that as a business owner people will come to say hullo, sir. I would like to introduce you to this product out of that of that. And I know that they haven't taken any time to learn anything about me, and my particular situation, and it's so much easier to sell to somebody if you understand their demographic, and they're psychographic so because it's important to do research. And if anyone who's listening to this is interested in selling me, something what I would strongly recommend. You do is go on my personal Facebook page. Go on my linked in page. And learn about me, I've had people come to me and say, hey, Andrew such and such and such and such. Let's go get a drink. But if they had even done an ounce of research, they would see that I have been sober since two thousand thirteen and that I have. I've a podcast featuring sober entrepreneurs. So if someone hasn't done the research on things that do and don't work with me, then I'm not going to give them the time of day because right off the rip. They've rubbed me the wrong way, and it's not so much on a moral high horse. It's just something that I I with and if someone is trying to sell me on an idea, and they come to me and say something along the lines of, hey, Andrew, such and such and such and such did you hear this on Gary v the other day, and I say, oh, you're into Gary Vannatter check. And they go on and talk about the value that he brings to other people. That's an easier way to sell me than it is to just come in and list the features of your product, but if you can build enough reporter and show that you actually are taking an interest in me people by. People. It's not the product. It's not the benefits people are willing to even give up on some quality and features if they like the person that they're doing business with so be sure that when you're speaking to somebody that, you know, exactly the things that they're interested in and do your homework. It makes building reports so much easier and makes getting the sale and starting that relationship so much easier, and it doesn't have to be this ninja sales mind trick. But just finding commonalities someone wouldn't have to come to me and pretend to be sober. I could probably spot it out pretty quick that they were lying, and they would lose my respect in that sense. But if you look through my interests in see, oh, hey, you like, Tim Ferriss. So do I we could talk about his book things like that get the ball rolling. Find commonalities. It makes the selling process that much easier, and it'll disarm the person. So that they can tell you exactly what it is that they're looking for and that you can help solve their problem. The other day, I was on a sales call with a woman, and she had said, I don't like my previous IT person because he bills me every time we call him. And I said well, great news. We have a monthly plan unlimited usage sold the end. I didn't have to tell her anything about the products benefits. Anything like that? I just listened to what she wanted. Did my homework, and it was easy to close

"As Linda has shared with me that I'm not pitching it enough. I started before getting pissed off before getting defensive. I get quiet for minute because I wanna know like issue doing this because she's had a bad day. Is she saying because she stress or she saying, because it's truthful because there's multiple different reasons why things like this come out. And when I took stock of really was going outside of our house. I wasn't pitching in, you know, I look at it sure. Most the time, my clothes would somewhere find some resemblance of a laundry basket, you know, at least next to or on top over maybe fallen over into the corner, but I didn't leave dirty clothes lying around. So Mike, she's does the laundry, but she has launch brings the laundry backup into our bedroom, and I never put the laundry away like. Live out of the basket forever brings up laundry's done. Here's your basket. You know, put away, put an shelves, put in the dresser. And instead I just because I rotate the same shirts like it's not that big of a deal to Mattis pool. Another one out, pull some joys output. You know, it's simple. It's lows Barrett entry. It's crazy that you rotate the same shirts because no joke this man has probably a thousand t shirts. Yeah, easy in all various forms colors, whatever, but he wears the same twelve because there's simple. Yeah, sorted to streamline my life in this past year, worse better. The less decisions I can make. Like if I could go back into a series of black gray and blue t shirts that fit me the right way to go with the polos eyewear. Only need three or four that fit in just enough of them to cycle through. It's one less tonight to make every morning especially getting, you know, like I do at four thirty. I don't want to have to mess around with like how gonna look, what am I gonna wear now that you least do color code them when when you put them away, do all the black t. shirts, all the. Ones. It's cute. Hey, I'm trying to make it easy on myself and visually appealing to you because you and I are closet. I never, yes. So. I also have never liked to take care of our yard. Like I just don't like it either. There's no part of sure. I, we live in a nice neighborhood on a golf course and all that happy stuff into there's minimum requirements essentially from the homeowner association that we have to meet just to live in in the neighborhood, and we probably push up against that line like have mulch lay down by June first. That was that was the most recent thing. And here we are. Linda was out of town last weekend at a horse show really Wednesday through Sunday. I thank God for five days. You took care of all the stuff yet. I, I took care of both the dogs to care of John our daughter and also went to surprise her in found somebody to do the mall ch and edge the beds and trim the bushes and pull the weeds and do all the things that I don't ever want to do, and I'm not. I didn't do it. Try take credit for and try to hide it from her like she knows we enough to know that's sort of the number one, not gonna happen a number two. I also wouldn't ever go spend eight hours of my life outside landscaping that is not a new, but I wouldn't either. I mean, we pull weeds here and there and you know, little things that pop up, but we. We have a service that cuts her grass and you don't want to do yard work in either. Do I like we just don't like it. Okay. Patios in the back. So yeah, pavers in the back patio. So our yard is almost like a posted stamp size. He can't take them on service more than fifteen or twenty minutes the art, but I have deemed over time the twenty five or thirty dollars that I spend to have someone do that it's far worth more to me than my actual time going outside finding time for sweating, putting lawnmower way like sounds miserable. There's some people that enjoy it just not for us. It's not a thing. So I knew at least in the of our house I was able to pitch in without actually pitching it can pay somebody to pitch in which made you happy, right? I mean, that's it's enough to worry about it. You didn't have to worry about it. It's done taking care of this. We get inside the inside into our house I had before, had us have some sort of house cleaner. Yeah. And I next that I don't know why next that I felt very guilty about that because I felt like, you know, we should keep that ourselves. There's only three people in the house, how big of a mass can it be? And it wasn't so much the man. It was just the daily things that get overwhelming because you and I are both so busy with other things besides housework? Yes. So I don't look at. We don't live in a palatial palace mansion. It's very reasonable size home in Columbus, Ohio. And for that I've shared with you another stories that a gentleman that I worked for had this finger tests where he would I was responsible for cleaning his office and he would run his finger over the top of the door jams. If there was dust
