Fresh update on "pistons" discussed on WFAN Sports Radio_FM Show

"It comes down to is without what Victor Oladipo used to be. You don't have a perimeter go to score in the clutch. Now They hope that that's going to be delivered. But Malcolm Brogdon great regular season player isn't quite going to be that guy in the final minutes to monitor the bonuses, Greatest. He is. Isn't a guy. You can just kind of give the ball and say, Hey, go get us a bucket. So that was Warren that it could be Laverne. But as of right now, they really don't have that guy which makes them you know, essentially with the mediocre team. I think their 16th in the league and offense 16 similar legal defense. They're just right in the center line, So I think and less Warren comes back River takes that step forward. They've improved offensively this year. But you know who hasn't under their new coach, But really, what they need is going to be solidifying that defense of Myles Turner coming back healthy and also finding a go to guy on offense, which is obviously easier said than done. All right, something that I will keep my eye on because I think you and I have talked about this. I wasn't a big fan of tanking with 70 Sex is a couple of years ago. I understand whole rebuild concept and got take a step backwards takes step forward. But when you do it over years, and you ask your fan base to watch a bad basketball team for years, not a year, multiple years before in the sixties case, I just think is unfair. But I know one year basis I can get it. We've got some bad teams in the NBA this year with some bad records. Um, don't know the dead's a Zion Williamson coming out in this year's draft, but you'd always rather have the prospect than the sixth pick if he got into the lottery. Who's best suited to tank the end of this season from here on out Man. There is a lot of competition here. I mean, you're seeing every single night on the injury report, so and so out with rest. So in show phantom calf injury, so and so a shoulder injury, so I mean, you're looking at teams like the Pistons. The Magic Cleveland actually seems like they're trying to get into that play, and so I would rule them out. Um, the Oklahoma City Thunder have just been doing on impressive tank job They've been trying to take all year, but they were too good. So she killed this. Alexander's been out. They've been resting guys like Lou Dordogne. Alexei Focus, Chayefsky just to make sure they lose on. Of course, the Rockets are are headed in that direction as well. So you mentioned there's no die on Williamson by the cage Cunningham. It could be a transcendent player. He has drawn comparisons to Luca Don church obviously hasn't had the amateur success of Luca did, but again, a 68 powerful big guard. Not gonna blow you away with athleticism, but just kind of does everything right? And I think the reason so many teams they're taking this year's because at the top of the draft, there are a few guys there. Who you. Congrats. Oh, if you miss out on Cunningham, you could get a guy like Evan Mobley, a big center out of USC mobile, stretchy kind of bam out of bio shades. You could get a guy like Jalen Subs have proven college winner who is going to be a tremendous NBA guard or the D League, guys. Jail and Green Johnson coming. GAH. So you know, I think that's all the more incentive for teams. We're not headed towards the playoffs the tank this year because at the top of the draft, even if you miss out on that number one selection, you're still going to end up with a guy who could potentially be a franchise player down the road. No to self. Make sure you get Colin Ward headed. You're on the week before the draft because you gave us a good little run down right there. That will ask you to go even more in depth when we got there, but we gotta get through the rest of the NBA season. We will be calling on you to help us do just that kind of appreciate yapping on board tonight. Thanks, Bud. Sure. Thanks for having me. What's Changed for Paul George and the Surging Clippers

"So law before you anything else. I feel like we have to talk about. Paul george's absolutely vicious poster dunk pistons stewart on sunday. My goodness is per. It's not personal brothers. All business tv announcers clearly lost it on that play. What was your reaction. My reaction was just our shot. This guy has had a foot issue for most of the last two months. And actually my very first moment with paul. George postgame availability. My first week on the beat. I tried a needle paul for not duncan because it had taken him until the fourth week of the season to dunk and i was like you know reggie jackson his own team. He had a dunk that night. In sacramento. i was like lose. Got a dump. Reggie jackson got a dump when you get your as bad. Now the game was so lopsided that star get my post-game arrangements together and i had missed that he dunked while the team was up more than thirty in the fourth quarter that was his first on the season. So like i had a dog and we add seen it done tonight. Washed gay the games. You gotta watch like wow. This is not the impression that i wanted to make. And then paul went and did devastating dunks for it seemed like every game for the rest of the month now when he came back. He hasn't been dunking very much. He's managing this issue. It's basically swelling. The bone in one of his toes doesn't sound pleasant right and the craziest is. This was the only basket that he made in that fourth. Quarter against the pistons but it was so memorable and i just was like you know what when in doubt dunk so was great moment. Great to see.

Drummond a Better Addition to Lakers Than Rondo to Clippers

"We'll really both teams. Latest editions have paid off saturday. Andre drummond helped lead the lakers in an upset win over the nets. Thanks to his twenty points and eleven rebounds while yesterday rajon rondo dropped five ten points in the fourth quarter. Help the clippers close out the pistons in a comeback win so shannon waiting to think long and hard about this who is the better acquisition from in oregon out here. I think both gas were what the doctor ordered I think would rondo. Does he is allow. He allows paul george and kawhi not to worry about the ball handling situation especially late in the ball game so now they can do what they really good. At that score the basketball rondo will always get them into the right set. He will always do the right thing. Andre drummond is. This is just what the doctor ordered scale because he gives them. Something that the lakers didn't have the size and strength on the block. A guy that could score down there a guy that could rebound down there and a guy that can defend down there so for me. I'm going to say audrey draw. But although i believe rondo a great acquisition andre drummond is going to be the difference between the lakers winning and losing the title. Because i believe skips if you remember last year would they could do. Is that javagal. Into why they all they own for the most time they own the rebounding advantage. I believe this is going to be another situation that they're gonna get a lot of second chance opportunities because the look the other night i think andre drummond had offense rebounds that gives you another opportunity to possibly get. Am one adult or is going to be kicked out to a wide. Open three point shooter so for me. I'm gonna take andre drummond. 'cause i love and plus he three in august this year

Detroit Pistons will sit Blake Griffin while team considers trade, buyout

"Watson routes give espn dot com has reported that not only. Is andre drummond. Kind of getting shut down for this whole trade talk discussion but also his former detroit. Pistons teammate blake griffin. It sounds like we'll be held out of the lineup. Until they can sort of figure out what his next move is is there a trade available for blake griffin or does this have to be a very extensive buyout situation where you know blazing to give some money out to get his freedom to go play for a good team. How do you resolve. This blake griffin situation. And why are they going to shut him down. I mean he's been very rough. So far this season i think a lot of people have noticed that he hasn't had a single dunk all year. Which just seems incomprehensible for the player. He was earlier in his career. He's basically a three point line. Two three point line Shooter at this point if you wanna put it that way in terms of his impact Is there a way out for detroit. Here or what are they doing man the blake griffin situation is is pretty rough Yeah he just hasn't had a very good season not moving. While he's only thirty one which is like hard to believe. Honestly i you just look at them and you think that. He's like in his late thirties. Ve how long he's been in our like our collective conscience and how great he used to be You would like to think that he could have an impact a positive impact on a championship contender. I don't know if that's possible anymore. Especially when he's not hitting the three ball and he's not hitting the three ball even though he takes a bunch of them so i don't know man like it will be. It'll be really interesting if they do. Waive him even though like. I don't have the limit. I'm trying to find the contract numbers. I know he's still oh quite a bit of money. So that's gonna be really interested this year. It's thirty six point five next year. He's got a player option for thirty eight point nine. Oh so you're not gonna get anything close to that this summer. So the buyouts to have to kind of reflect that if they did kind of pursue that direction mean maybe. They're just trying to hope that they can construct a trade to dump him onto someone else's someone else eats that money next year. I don't know how you really get out of that. I mean it could be a situation where they've just decided look man like your body's not they're just take some time and hope that you can kind of get into a better spot but mean it does kind of look unsalvageable for him at this point you know and i hate to say that because there were times for derrick rose where looked unsalvageable to and he's come back to make himself like a valuable role player in certain situation You know is there. A role for a blake griffin lake career bench renaissance where he follows the carmelo anthony model right and he's only play in like sixteen minutes a game and he gives you good sixteen eighteen minutes and that's it Could that be like a second chapter for him. I don't know. But i think this idea of him as fulltime starter. Impact guy or major contributor is is basically done.

"What's wally. Hey bobby how are you. I'm good today. we have. I believe our guests and all four guests have been very different but all help pilots who spend time behind the prop. Today we have ray the elbow with us. He owns any aviation and has done ninety nine percent of the maintenance work from my flight school and many of the people on the airport. Welcome to the show. Ray thank you. Thank you for having me. We get asked a lot of systems questions while the and i do and there's obviously a lot of maintenance that goes on and i spend a lot of time on the phone. I wish i actually talked to you. A little less ray but We spend a lot of time on the phone with each other and we wanted to have. Ray come talk to all the listeners. A little bit about what goes on in the world of maintenance maybe share some tips and tricks and some things that maybe people should be doing that. They're not doing on a regular basis So ready to get started. Tell us a little bit about you. Your background kind. Of all of your acronyms that are at the end of your name. So we understand what you're able to craft and stuff like that Well my my most of my experience comes from general aviation got about one year airline experience but mainly generally it's about twenty two years now I i have an mp in and i Which pretty much mainly mainly means. I could sign off. Annuals and three seven's does the i. I think it comes up a lot where somebody said. Hey you have to have an eye for that. And i don't think i think people just know of an acronym but what does that really mean it stands for inspection authorization okay and it's it's really not a certificate or license is just an authorization to sign off annuals and three three sevens which are major repairs and alterations Other than that you're. Emp's what you really use. Why does so. Maybe i'm wrong. But i have this perception that very few. Amp's haven't a or not what was a very few have an. I is that true and is it hard to get her. it's it's it can be a little difficult to get For starters you gotta have Three years in the field And you got. It's only a written test but the test is very difficult for me. It is right. I'm not a good test taker but it's difficult only because they just made it that way And unless you're out there doing annuals and actually doing three three seven's you really don't need it. Uranium p mostly everything. You can do If you're working out in the industry and the airline you'll never use the i In general aviation. Use it every day if you're doing annuals and major alterations and repairs Which is why a lotta. Ap's don't get it. I got it. I have to have it because we run a shop. So we gotta sign off annuals and we do. Stc's all the time required three three seven. So that's why i have it And then again you know you got to report to the fa When you have sure how more than you would with ampy sure we. We also share a lot of friends in common pilots both on the field and around the city You have a huge. I would say fan. Following lots of people speak very highly of your work and unease work. Tell people that might not be right here around us. What kind of work. You do how you help. Pilots get their planes back in the air just a little bit in case somebody wants to fly down and have you do their annual forms. Well mainly You know we stay busy with strictly. Piston aircraft We we do so many of them you know we could turn them pretty quick We know all their quirks We know pretty much where to get the parts In a timely manner right and that's that will help keep the airplane flying which is what most owners want In pretty much we have the crew at the shop to do it We have a person that does strictly she metalwork. We have one guy that does you know. It's real good at electrical so he keeps up with the electrical portions and all that combine helps. You know the shot move move a lot quicker And makes everything go a lot smoother in the long run. Saving time downtime and money for custom

"Approximately one hundred sixty seven thousand general aviation aircraft in operation still use a low lead gasoline. The only remaining fuel used in the united states today that contains lead but researchers at faa labs are dedicated to removing the harmful lead from this fuel piston engines. The most common type in small general aviation planes rely on the addition of lead to create the high octane. gasoline needed to safely fly. "Somebody basically asked like. How are you going to? Shut down the Lakers to hold him under their seat season average and his first statement is because we're artists. Like I think that way, the phrases that is just so interesting like it's not. It's not job they have to do. They literally took it like an artistic endeavor that they're going to go out there and make life just a living hell for that later slot so. So actually the philosophy they add was this really strong. Sagging defensive is even a couple times a shack as the ball, everyone defenders will come in a touch, the full pay just to show like. Hey, we're here. If you're GONNA, try do anything, but then they do hard hard doubles the biggest. Recover back so that the ball movement really open up any three pointer driving. That was strategy thing. We'll see US driving series. And I think Americans say. The Lakers were overrated. That's not right to say I, mean they? They made it to the finals in the West but. I think. For people in our age group. Kind of a mis remembering or they just didn't know it all just kind of the situation with the Lakers team I mean. I think Carl Malone suffered like his first massive injury in his career that year, and I think just return like maybe fifteen twenty games before the playoffs started, ended up I think that was his last year. If I'm not mistaken right, so it's like people here. Gary Payton Karl Malone. Chat Kobe Oh. My Gosh, that's a Dream Team. That's Gary was on his way out Carl is like I. said I think that was last year. And I think he got knee surgery at the end of that year the rest of the team was good, but it wasn't like a bench wasn't great and then you get to the finals been dogfights the rounds prior, and then you get the Pistons. Is Hungry team consensus now that they got past Indiana who I'm sure they probably maybe assume would be their biggest threat on the way in like it was the way they defended him was. Like well machine there was or men that said it was like are there was Rashid, right? Bend, that's always been. Yeah. Exactly yeah, it was ben and it was just like they took that challenge, and they were ready for that moment. I mean the Lakers. I mean they've won before. and that's no excuse but like. You guys know watching sports like the new dog always comes in. It always ends for the old guard in a harsh way. We look at the warriors. If People WanNA recent example.

"I mean a part of that is what Lebron did when he left. Miami WENT BACK to Cleveland's he brought structure that Miami provided him. He brought a culture. That was a winning culture to Cleveland. Help them win that championship in Cleveland. It's similar to a Tom Brady. He's going to do. He's GonNa Bring if nothing else. A level of responsibility and accountability to the bucks. That hasn't been there before. Well you think it would work. But when Michael Jordan came to the wizards you would think they'd fall in line. And they didn't and when Lebron came to the young Lakers you would think they would fall in line but they got very petty when their names came out with rumors you would think buccaneer players young would just listen to Tom. You Hope it works that way but sometimes pro athletes. Are you know if they go on to to start the season and some guys aren't getting their touches? You think Tom would walk in and everybody would kind of get in line. Because he is the winning player in that Locker Room. But it's funny about that. You know home mouths to feed. They got a lot of good players. You know I've said this. I think one of the toughest jobs in the NFL. This year is Baker. Mayfield joy they have to have everything like he's got to constantly make sure everybody's happy I. That's why I said I would trade. Ob Jay and make a run tight end team with one great receiver. It'll be funny when Tom goes there with all these weapons. Three tight ends to great receivers. It'll be interesting to make sure he can keep everybody the harmony going because it's not always easy even for legends. No I. that's a very good point. Sometimes it's hard for people to fall in line but James was a very highly.

I mean the the Brad, Johnson! And the Tampa Bay buccaneers a championship in a lot of style or a little lot of glamour. It's the same in boxing. That's how we should remember them. That that's that's what they are it. Wouldn't it be weird? If years later there was this mythology. They were so graceful and. Tactful, they had such glamour in style any of it. They just tackled people. That's what they did in the NBA at the time, allowed it. Right just like the Baltimore Ravens. Style. "Jair stays I'm coming to you from the road so I apologize for the slightly different sounding audio up. I I talk a bit about the lions loss than spend Gustafsen Fletcher sharp cover the Pistons and of course you know. We will be back to stories around town more on Monday morning but for now. Let's let's just get to it. Let's at the table by saying I'm a homer and I am alliance Fan but Thursday's twenty four twenty loss against the bears was another another example. That this whole Matt Patricia Bob. Quinn era seeming seeming to be a coaching and general managing mistake. In my opinion I sat there as we lost yet at another lead in. Thought we got rid of Bob Caldwell. Who didn't win enough with two playoff appearances for this? Now I'm not saying call was any sort of Messiah area but but hindsight is twenty twenty and he seems to have been a much better coach than people gave him. Credit for a big bright spot was third. String undrafted quarterback David Bluff. WHO's wikipedia page? After throwing seventy five yard touchdown as his first career completion was temporarily changed to quote owner of the Chicago. Bears Unquote and and a photo of a goat was added. I'm I'm all for that Elias. Sports says that this is the second longest touchdown by quarterback on his first career completion since since that big. NFL Merger back in nineteen seventy. So he say this next thing just because I'm just not into paranormal stuff but I wonder if the curse of Bobby Lane was Suppo- that was supposed to go years ago was a fifty year curse after all but on that final year we went zero and sixteen. I just can't help but wonder if somehow it has kept going it wasn't expectedly painful losses drops the lions two three eight and one good for bottom of the basement of both the NFC north and the firm knowledge that we will not be in the playoffs this year as we are the first NFC deem to be officially eliminated which gets me into larger point between the Tigers the lions the red wings and the Pistons. Look our sports in town stink right now. This is a city with few things that hold us together across our boundaries and we also have some of the greatest sports fans in the country and we really deserve and we need better. But I'll be honest. I am at a total of how to get there over to flesh. Fan despite coming off two lopsided victories in a row the Detroit Pistons are now six and eleven including a woeful one and eight on on the road. There's now concern among the fans that their playoff hopes are already in jeopardy unless they make some moves and we're talking specifically at trade raid. We'll talk all about that with our NBA correspondent Fletcher Sharp And I should also notice note before we get into this that we recorded the segment on Wednesday is day that was before the Pistons traveling to Charlotte. They also host the Hornets on Friday. Night with all that said Fletcher. Hydro Man I'm all right all right. So as I mentioned the the Pistons are kind of surprising a lot of people in the basketball world. who expected them maybe to be a little more competitive early on what's wrong with the team So far here early in the season where do they need help well to start they were missing Blake Griffin which most of their offense. It's kind of free form But Still Senate around getting the bottom Blake Griffin lent him create. So when your main guy who's supposed to be there to create for you is not there. You're not some issues. Also Derrick rose trying to trying to find himself coming off an injury he was on. He was on minute rotation reduction same as Blake Blake like finally came back. So it's kind of you know difficult to gauge. Exactly how they were going to do with them. As of late their main issue is really been that they. They don't have the defensive to defend properly against the team to tax they can score a lot of teams where the problem comes when they're missing shots. They're getting beat in the fast fast-break however as mentioned before one of the bright spots is Andre Drummond while people want to get rid of him he has been steadily putting up an historic orrick year. So meanwhile as you mentioned Blake Griffin's Now back in action and everything but more recently. They've Lost Reggie Jackson to a back injury. How much is that hurt It depends you ask. Some people would say that it matters some people say it doesn't I attend to go along the lines of those. It doesn't matter so much because I don't really think he's much of a plus a he tends to hog the ball whenever he's whenever he's having a good shooting night in the also tends to Audubon when he's not. I think the Pistons Work Best when they let Blake Griffin create. Reggie Jackson kind of doesn't really allow that because he wants to keep the ball. I will say whoever they've been replacing him with though never really seemed to work. The only plus site is Bruce Brown who they drafted as a shooting. Guard out of Miami last year is getting some rotation as a larger point guard which is helpful. 'cause it's helpful to have people who can handle the ball just the one plus US otherwise people would only wanNA Trade Reggie Jackson and I guess he can't really be traded if he's hurt so no one can see him play so I think it gets. It hurts their but otherwise I don't really think Reggie Jackson much of an asset for the same or so. Let's let's move on then to speculation that the Pistons may need to make some trade. What what has dwayne Casey the head coach said about that and and who might they be looking to You know us as I have not asked wing case to this question. Listen because I'm afraid dazzling case question because it seemed a little early personally the asking about trades. I know the season is maybe like about fifteen games in. But I think there's still some time to recover Blake Griffin's back still a minute restriction but he's back to being able to be competent. So that's going to help your offense. I think they really the main issue. They're having right now though. If we're trying to look they play things to replace is a backup center. Backup big man so blake. It's in foul trouble or Andreessen foul trouble. If you're GonNa Start Marquee Morris Then that kind of creates a hole there and right now as I've said before I'm fine makers not getting it done. And while I think Christian would is a better option a Christian would is still still learning the Pistons Scheme so all the points that he scoring or coming really off of catching from three or getting rebounds putting it back up but when it comes down to run a play with him he does not know what he's doing he's just going where people are going to go and not really knowing what to do which is amazing that whenever he's in there for a short amount of time he still putting up points like the last game I went to this. Friday Christian would really only played the fourth quarter but he came in in the fourth quarter scored nine points five rebounds two blocks and just like one quarter of time so so like would he knows what he's doing. He's producing the problem as is like you don't really want to put someone in. That doesn't know what they're doing early on in the game because that could really cost Ashti Wardha games kind of being blown out or something. Whether you're winning you're losing you can afford that. I think we're GONNA look to trade for some look trade for somebody tried to look for a big man who can help there. Maybe look for a wing defender who can also who can score but also play some defense because as someone pointed on twitter. A last chance Lazarus Jackson Pistons reporter Blake Griffin when during his time in Detroit has never really had a wing attack and play defense. The best thing he's had was the other Morris Brother Marcus Morris and I don't really think Marcus was more of a wing. I think really think he would fit that mold too much so if they could get someone who kind of like Tobias Harris in the past except Tobias Harris who actually wanted wanted to have the ball versus Tobias Harris. Who just happened to have the box? He was the most talented that would really help the team a lot. You give you give some wing scoring next to Blake. You give someone who can give the ball Andrea so he can give back him someone who can attack off the dribble Lucan arts coming into his own which is great but you still really don't want him trying to beat you to the to the rim. You want him kind of still shooting shooting so someone who could kind of I don't WanNa say someone like someone like Carmelo Anthony but not criminal anthony. You know what I mean someone who could take the ball score themselves when a game gets too late take over the game sort of but like not still play within the system but that's going to be allowed to ask a lot of people thinking they they should try to trade Andre Drummond for that Which I think it'd be a big mistake because he's doing a lot for the team? A lot of people say Blake Griffin's should be traded. What do you think of that? I don't know what to do with his team featured him you come from 'cause A lot of people's numbers go up on Blake's on the court. I know some people's numbers go down like an old luke's numbers. This season have a bit down on Blake Spin on the court. But I feel like if you get rid of him to the point of trying to get them. That's kind of a waste of a of money the anti but no I mean back back to drum and a lot of people a lot of people are saying they want to get him because it'll like his effort anything it was sort. If you get rid of him I don't know where they're going. Where the rebound during the come from trump because no one else rebounds on the same which is why drumming can average like seventeen eighteen rebounds a game? It's because other team gets kind of like. When Ben Wallace played for the Oh four zero three or for Pistons from that Area Safer Rasheed? No one else really rebounded and that was okay. 'cause Ben would grabbed fifteen rebounds but you get the first year without Ben Wallace. The Pistons had a hard tim rebounding. 'cause they're like Oh we can't run in transition because there's no one here to grab the rebound so I I really feel like they should get someone establish make sure when they really want they do that. And there's known in the market That's GonNa Fetch. That's going to be able to give what they want for Andre Drummond rate right now at least right so speaking of Ben Wallace in You know the Pistons Thousands of yesteryear. We just passed the fifteen year anniversary of the infamous malice at the palace and understand. You are actually at that game pletcher. Yeah it was my first ever pistons game with my father. Oh we nor- we normally even normally went to lions games. I went to one Pistons game with my stepfather's that Fathers Fraternity Omega Saifi and like this one actually also featured a player going into the stands will mentally back when Bison daily played. I remember I ah remember. He liked made a block. Threw the ball court just around the clock and like he walked towards the edge. This the court said high fiving fans like he just didn't care and there's at least like five seconds left on the clock and I was like what's happening what what's going on this is this. Is this normal. What do you remember from the malice at the palace night? Though asked I tell people this and they don't believe me. I have to bring up my friend. WHO's also there? I actually was in the lower bowl like about thirty rose. Twenty twenty twenty five thirty rose from the scores table so in runner tests left over the scores table. He was running like in our direction. when I.

And then you would say couple of heavy hitters on the on the analytic side. Again, I'm going to mess up because I've never actually met Sasha Gupta Sasha process such southern. Yeah. Yes, it's spelt. So for listeners who have not seen such Gupta's name before don't recognize it. He invented the SPN trade machine. You can you can thank him for because I know it's how everybody spends like their entire workdays for about a month before the trade deadline, but he'd been to the trade machine at ESPN. So he's working for the pistons, formerly with the rockets and the Sixers obviously, two of the most advanced analytics oriented teams in the league, and then Gail fan who you guys swiped from the warriors. And he's listed your coaching lyrics guy. So is there a difference in the pistons for between the Sami doing coaching analytics and such doing I guess other? They worked together thoughts in semi Aaron. And before he. Left for greener pastures, I guess or hey, those guys all worked together they they worked together and on all the analytic stuff the way it's kind of broken up without going into details. Just Sammy as what the coaches e you know, he works with those guys implicitly on the analytic side of which are good shots for shot shot spectrum and stuff. And then how do we get more threes from the coroner or how do we get this guy to get more threes? What what lineups worked best for getting the types of shots. We once he's like just a masterminded taking what the coaches wanna do. Mike annoy offense of are basically offense coordinator coach Casey in those guys takes what they wanna do. We wanna get shot here here here we want to get shots with this much time left on the shot clock. We want these guys taking these shots. How do we do a Sammy? And he goes to work and comes up with ideas. You know, he's he's he's a great outside the box thinker, and he comes up with great ideas for the coaches. And and such does the same thing for us. Like such a mazing man is like I haven't seen. I'm sure half of what he's able to do. But I'm just just marvel at the way he's able to take information and retain it for one. But then put it all together. It could be like fourteen we know what fourteen. So we have an ideal fourteen wanna do how can we benefit from this information? He'll put it together. Maybe we do this. And this team wants to do this when we could do that. And this, and it's like God that makes sense when you get to the end of it. But there is no way I would have been able to do it with four notepads three calculators and an ipad or something I just wouldn't have been able to figure out. Yeah. Right. But I think it's an interesting mix. And then I think for the most part, I think these skepticism out there among fans or old school coach's role school thinkers, I think that's kept us as mostly faded beggars to people who think like, this is all overload, it's unnecessary. It's not just just go out there and play we know who can play that kind of stuff. Your former player Packard is former player, you know, you got guys who've been around the game a long time. So obviously, you guys are doing the thing that I think was the ideal. Now, it's kind of marrying the practical on-court experience and all that goes with it. And then here's here's some data that helps support. So was there appoint as a player where how much the Spurs were doing it when you were still there? But was there points player where you had that skepticism?.

"And the one thing I'm sure this is come up on the podcast, but you hear over and over talking to people in the league is, you know, hey, we just want to see what happens if they get down to one this series. We can punch them in the face and see what happens, and, you know, whether they start turning on each other whether it's Durant's free agency. Whether it's. You know, the fact that cousins has been struggling to to fit in defensively to they start blaming each other and turning that blame inward is opposed to know banding together and browley to win the series. Like we did see last year against Houston in the conference Lyles. Well, Kirk your fish fishing, see landscape report over the last fifteen games that has the pistons out front of everybody the warriors. This is what was alarming to me eighteenth defensively. Inefficiency the last fifteen last fifteen games that's not insignificant number and that's a worrisome that's a worrisome trend, especially because I think a lot of it is tied to DeMarcus not that it's his full per se. But what are you seeing them? What I'm seeing with them is demarcated boogies not fitting in right now. Here's some stats for you. In the last thirteen games DeMarcus cousins, he's a negative five net rating when he's on the court. They're losing games when he's on the court and their offense is below league. Average in the twenty seven minutes game he's been playing. This is the Golden State Warriors having a below average offense when DeMarcus cousins on the court that's alarming to pelicans point the warning signs were there what I've been saying all years either. This is the two thousand one Lakers or the two thousand four Lakers either they're going to get to the playoffs and just through everybody after sort of an awkward regular season or the somebody like the pistons is going to come out and just out muscle out. Tough them play better basketball, and they're not going to sort of. Have that cohesion that they've had over the last four or five years to win those kinds of series? So I'm looking at Draymond. And I'm looking at the markets, and I'm seeing negative net ratings. I'm seeing warning signs on defense and to your point Brian. They're not the deep esteem in the league by any means there is this week as it's ever been there one injury away from a really really dangerous situation. So I would say this. I think this is the closest they've been to not being a favourite since they lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Right. We're talking about the warriors and their dysfunction of lack of province through. We'd be remiss not to point out the gas that curb got caught in last night in the loss to the sons where he was seen on camera saying, I'm so tired of during lunch. You just gave kyri our our producer a some thing to edit. But here's the problem with that. I don't know he got cut off. And I don't know really what he said he could have said I'm tired of Draymond 's not covering the pick and roll tired of Draymond shooting. I mean, it could have been it. Didn't look good. I agree. But I don't have enough information to. To totally nobody said, I will say that. When you look at this team. They have a guy on offense who is a guy. You don't have to guard and Draymond teams don't guard him. And so they kind of I don't wanna say two point four and five on offense. But maybe it's like four and a half on five and then defensively they have a whole because everybody's attacking DeMarcus right now. And while they could go to the Hamptons five, which I'm sure they will go to the Hamptons five when it really matters. They're not deep enough to just only use him for twelve minutes. They need him to play. So you have you know, so on defense your art?.

"Business of one eight over the last ten games. They've moved up to six place in the in the east. They're essentially such a debt other game ahead of the nets who they play tonight or half a game headache. That's. And Kirk had a chart. I don't wanna call chart. It was sort of a graphic that said since was less fifteen was less fifteen days less fifteen games as fifteen games. Fifteen games. Right. Tell us what you what you said about the Detroit Pistons, the drip business or the best team in the NBA over the last fifteen games the way, I look at the NBA through the dean Oliver framework, they have the number one net rating their twelve of twelve and three in their last fifteen as you said they've climbed up to six place and their net rating is ten point four which is better than the rockets who are getting a lot of attention over that same stretch in rightly so licencee, but the Detroit Pistons offense is incredible and Blake Griffin needs to get more attention than he's currently getting because he is the definitive sort of offense of weapon their offensive rating over the last fifteen games as one nineteen which is by four the best such Mark in the league. And again, I think it's like this is what Blake Griffin's prime looks like he deserves credit for being sort of the best point forward in the league right now at least on playoff team. I think he is just not getting enough. Attention and the season of hardening Jaanus and Paul George like, maybe it's time we give Blake Griffin. Let me ask you this. I had some I in my weekly column last week. I speculated this is going to be the end of one of the greats series of one of the great streaks of LeBron's career. He's made the first team all NBA eleven consecutive years. And that ties y'all time streak for consecutive first team all MBA's with Bill Russell. And by the way, all NBA has been around to the sixties. It hasn't always had three teams. But first team all NBA has been around in the sixties. The bronze eleven straight. I teams if he makes y'all NBA team any of the three teams this year he'll tie a number of guys who have made fifteen teams altogether in a row. So I think it's pretty safe to guess that LeBron is not going to make first team considering Paul, George and Yoenis arm MVP candidates. Blake Griffin has made a strong push. And break Griffin. Playing kind of like LeBron has played at point forward for them between K C sort of design that role. Blake Griffin's second team all NBA. He put Blake Griffin ahead of LeBron this year. Wouldn't you think Kevin? I don't know if I'm willing to go that far. I'd I'd wanna look at it. I I mean to me Colli. I mean, don't you? Don't you credit the Taylor both those guys? Okay. And you will Durant. Well, I didn't mention Durant. So so so Durant. Take even Paul George third guy. Right. I'm sorry. Durant? Paul George John issue figure. I figured Paul George said Yasser making first team, even though Durant. But awesome. But well, how do you see it Yano? I agree with that part of it. And then so then, yeah, I guess you're you're debating who's going to be the next guy on the second team. Right, which to me. Yeah. We'll why is there? But I mean and then Blake too. I mean, I don't want. I think Blake's having a tremendous year, and you cannot discount the fact that this is a team that missed the playoffs last year that he is carrying into the playoffs. I would say to to that point. If he keeps doing this for the rest of the season. He's gonna earn himself. One of those slots, I mean, this is the best team in the NBA over the last fifteen games twelve and three nobody has a better record. The typically nobody is better martyrs. And he's the reason why I mean, what are we doing here like LeBron's team is careening towards the lottery and his team is sort of sending towards the playoffs. I'm not saying he's a better player..

"Been here for all these games. Like, you feel more at home or more at ease being able to do whatever and say, whatever you want then guys on the court number. I don't mean to pick on this one fan because a lot of times pick on him. Well, the the guy who. Who've gotten Westbrook's face with wasn't it like the double bird in Philly. Like, what what are you doing book, and Russell Westbrook? The guy who you really like Russell Westbrook can fight. But he don't look like he can't. I'm not bathing him. He gives them. The double bird Russell's like who's man is pointing at him confused like the remember the fan and Utah after that playoff series ended who tried to put his Cameron Russell faces. Now that wasn't as bad thing. Russell reacted. And by the way, there's the line for me. Then there's the line for me, if you're rush if your hard, and we did it to you don't start smacking phones out of people's hands. It's actually there at a safe distance. They're not really hurting, you you, maybe Pissy you maybe in a bad mood, whatever. And they may have also just said something, but let's let's not go. You got you gotta take an ape your hands at your side. And the players do have to swallow an awful lot to have to take an awful lot. And I do think that fans are over the line a lot of the time, and it is an unfair thing. We're holding the players to a higher standard than the fans, but that's just reality. But that's where where I get alarmed, and I thought both those I can't remember for sure, but they both got off. I think if I recall pretty easy for smack in those phones, but. There is a fan code of conduct the league. I I don't know how well they're enforcing it. If people still feel comfortable saying and doing some of the things they're doing. No, here's the crazy thing. And this is this is the craziest thing, and I was on deadline mind, you this was the one to have season that mall. Cheeks was coaching the patient. I told you was going through a lot of by the way, I remember thinking at the time there's no way in their fire mode. Nobody gets fired a half season into the first stage of their first season. Yes, I don't like that. That may be a record for all. I know and they won't and they wanna four out of six mind you going into the cast. I remember way too, much useless information. Okay. So there was a last second play in a pistons game. They at the palace. It might have been Washington. I Bradley Beal might have spun around someone four layup right before the buzzer something happened. So some fan like six rows up wherein debt line on press row where in between the benches he yells at MO cheeks, you bleeping eightieth, Donna. Immo literally just turns out he just stands there. Like, most of the fans are walking off their pissed off dejected, whatever the players will walk enough multi around stares at the fan, WADA fan be rates him and his stone face Motsepe and not really an expressive guy. Not as a player coach, whatever he just stares at the for like a good fifteen seconds a fan goes off. And I literally said hat the security guard for the pistons not done that I would have made way from my seat and say you can walk right by them. If you want to get to this guy right now like, that's how bad it was. That's how bad I felt I start writing on deadline. It made like the second graph of my story. It was that graphic because the fan was that don't be. Wow, just just all out like just profane and Solta like every last awful thing. You could think not not those magic words. Yeah. Because to me there's two magic words that will get me out of my seat. And I'm sure you can figure out from my sensibilities. What those two magic words are. Well, at least one of them. He didn't go there. But he went everywhere else. And I feel like at that point. All right fan. You wanna come down? I will. I will usher this yellow brick road for you to come down and say these things, and I do think that the fan code of conduct has to be examined with a little more scrutiny..
