Garland scores 21 points, Cavaliers rout Pistons 114-90
"The Cavaliers received balance scoring at a one 1490 blowout over the pistons. Evan mobley had 16 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and four blocks. Defensively, we were in our spas and stops against deals and then offensively the flow was better. And we were taking the right shots, making better plays and stuff like that. Darius Garland had 21 points and 7 assists in just 24 minutes, Donovan Mitchell scored 20 points, but spraying a finger on his left hand in the third quarter. The Cavs now lead the Knicks by a game and a half for fourth place in the east and home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. I'm Dave fairy.

Allen, Mobley power Cavaliers to 113-85 win over Pistons
"The Cavaliers made it four straight wins despite resting Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland, rolling to a one 1385 route of the pistons. Jared Allen and Evan mobley combined for 21 points while Cleveland went ahead by 18 after one quarter. I did the Evan did it. We felt like we were attacking the room. I know they still have some pretty decent rim protectors, but we didn't let that stop us tonight. Alan finished with 20 points and mobley had 19 for the calves who opened the fourth quarter by outscoring Detroit 26 four. The Cavaliers also out rebounded the pistons, 48 32, with Alan grabbing 14. "There's 20 games left and they're not even close if it feels like. So I got to see it with them. Philly, though. Should we talk about this real quick before we get out of here? I don't know if any of you guys caught it, but hard and be played together for the first time. And I caught that. Last night. Really tomorrow. Philly's playing at noon tomorrow. Everyone's going to get a good look. They're at MSG. So that'll be a fun one to watch. I want to say when they were on the floor together, they posted a one 44 offensive rating against in the world. That's not surprising. Wow. So that could end up being the schedule. And you know what's even scarier, the fact that they had 25 free throws at the half. Yeah, that's the team that you were hoping will have to go through Miami or Milwaukee or one of those other teams that gives you problems. And maybe they can give the 6s problem. But right now, Philadelphia, it was a great it was a great opening act. Opening salvo throwing out there by James Harden and being what I'm not convinced that that is sustainable. I'm not convinced and the reason I'm not convinced is because the talent I don't question. It's the commitment to doing the little things to win. I do question. Joel embiid has brought into that. I'm not sure James Harden is going to buy into that. There were some ball shopping moments that were. Yeah. And that to me is where it's going to get a little bit tricky for Joelle because there are times when I think back to the selfish game where they beat the snot out of Philly and Joelle didn't score his first basket until the second quarter, halfway through the second quarter. Is he is hard and going to be able to play well enough to where you can have a stretch like that and it did not crush your team the way it did or will harden just start looking to just Jack up any and every shot. Or we will overfeed it to Joelle. That's the other thing that we don't really talk about. Pardon is a great passport. But if he knows he's on the floor, I mean, no disrespect to Matisse style, but I'm not sure that James Harden is looking to get many assists to Matisse title. And how much is his focus on getting Joel the ball would you want one? How much is that going to take away from the team's overall flow offensively? Those are some of the issues that they've got time to work out. And if your Doc Rivers is a great problem to have, not coach the hell of a game last night too, Quintana and the place. Staggering the lineups. And there were moments where maxi and Harris were taking shots with ten miles of space. And that's what scares me about that..

"I'm up and down, but recently I've been more up. I think just overall, that's probably because the team's success and he's been a huge part of it. I kind of agree with a lot of what you said. I would like to see a little bit more consistency, more physicality. I mean, is athleticism is off the charts. I mean, that's the first thing that jumped out about him to everybody when he joined the team. The knock on him was a shooting. So he's gone to lengths to try to improve that credit to him. But I feel like that's almost come at the expense of his athleticism a little bit. You know, he's almost sometimes relying a little bit too much on the shot. And I'd like to see him get a little bit more physical. Now I'm not saying this game specifically, but just overall, there's those situations where we talk about Tatum, how he needs to get to the line. I think Brown should be getting in the line just as much. Just the way he's kind of a little bit more of a slasher in there. But he has the gifts. He has a physical gift to be good on both ends of the court very good on both ends of the court. No, I'm just going to say. I think especially when is a marquee matchup, I think he tends to sort of when he's focused on the defensive side of things. He'll tend to lean on that three point shot. He'll look for that open look. Instead of being more aggressive, I'm with you on that Bobby. I feel like I like to see that more often. And so I tried to be more that sort of forced the issue, but just be more absurd. But I think this is all sort of his learning curve, right? I feel like he's really evolved throughout the past couple of months and ever since he's come back from what was a COVID or the injury. The hamstring. The hamstring is right. He's been just sort of trying to mesh back in and be the best version of himself. And I think this is that transitional period where he's going to put it all together. You know, look, he put, this was a quiet 27 points. Tonight, today against the pistons, but I think a lot of that had to do with those shots down the stretch. You know, it sort of felt like he was approaching 20 and all of a sudden he was closer to 30, but that's because sometimes he has was really quiet offensive night because, you know, what he's doing in defensively. And he sort of sprinkles those shots here and there throughout the course of the game, whereas someone like Tatum might go off for like 12 to 13 points in one quarter. And Jalen doesn't do that all the time, you know?.

"That's code IO slash guardian for free. Guys, I think that would read was a little bit better than the first one I did. Well done. Scheduled programming now. Yeah, honestly, I did go, honestly, guys, just go to the website. It's pretty cool. I actually did go to it 'cause I was like, what the hell is this thing? And it's legit. And there's a lot of big companies using it and what the hell is this thing? It explains exactly they've got little YouTube that kind of explains what they do. That's why you gotta try for free. There's nothing wrong. You can just go there, try for free. You can design your own pretty much website by using it. And it's cool. So according to this part. Don't forget. As well. Okay. Dot com slash Discord. Oh yeah, don't forget about our two. I think the real question is, Sarah, there's the O four pistons. I want to say 79 or 78 sonics. Excuse me, if I'm getting this wrong, the only two teams are one of the few teams that everyone in championship without one of the top 75 players. Could the Celtics be the third team? In the 22 Celtics, be the third team to win a championship without players. Yeah, I mean, but they're going to need some bracelet on the way, obviously, but when you look at the teams that we view in this iconic dynasty frame, like Golden State, for example, they went through an entire postseason where they did not play a single team that had their regular starting point guard for the duration of the series. So you're going to need some breaks no matter how talented you are in order to be the last team standing. And the Celtics are no different, but the one thing that they're doing now, I will say this is that they've shown a willingness and ability to compete night and a night out. And even though this Detroit game was not one of their better games, you never got the sense that they weren't competing. And to me, you can't win a championship unless you have a high level of competitive competitiveness within your DNA. And they have that. It just took them a little longer than most people thought it should before we could see that, but it's pretty clear and evident that they show up in a building. They're not just showing up in the building. They came to show out. And they came to compete. And that's what you want. That's the kind of foundation that you have to build. And we haven't talked much about it, but when we talked earlier about Tatum and just kind of how his role has changed, you start going down this whole roster..

"The one difference I will say is that Detroit had multiple top shelf individual defenders. I mean, Ben Wallace was a multiple defensive player of the year award winner. Tayshaun prince was one of the few guys who could Ashley, you certainly are not shutting down Kobe, but he made life tougher for Kobe than most. And the rest of the guys were just really good team defenders. You've got Marcus smart for the Celtics, but beyond that, I don't know if you have that elite all around individual defendant. The closest you got to that is, you know, is time lord. And I was a good defender as well. But I think the biggest difference is that ain't no Ben Wallace though. The Celtics are a better offensive team and have more offensive firepower than that Detroit team did. That's not a physical. Selfish or a lot younger. They're starting to be, I think, right? The Detroit team was more physical. Yeah, that might be an error thing too though. It's harder to be physical. It's an everything but it's also personnel thing. I mean, even a guy like when people think of them being physical, they think of guys like Ben Wallace, but in the backcourt they had a former Celtic Mike James who was a physical in your face inline inline defender. Yeah, Lindsey hunter, who was another inline of inline defender in the backcourt..

"They have a lot of inexperience, but I mean, man, some of those young guys are talented as hell, Cunningham is in the running for review. And former coach of the year too and Dwayne Casey. All right. We got fired. Yep. I remember. So, I mean, I'm not trying to be excuses for the Celtics, but I mean, they're playing a tougher team than what the record shows for sure. This is an just knock off. Yeah, right. Exactly. Right. And so they're comfortable out there. Especially in the first half, they really set the tone, I thought. So was he the best player out there today? Because Kate Cunningham, because he goes out there, he scores like 6 straight points to start the fourth, gets a couple of the Bagley. Bobby, if we were talking about the best player in a half court game, maybe just maybe, but Kane is a horrible defender. And I love watching you play but I mean, he's brutal. He's right now, yeah, it's definitely an area where he needs to improve. He had the following trouble. I think you will get better, but let's not pretend as if his defense struggles were because of file trouble. He was getting smoked, but he had one and two files. And I watched him play enough to where it's obviously as anything that defense is not his forte now. Now, can he get better, yes, will he get better? I believe he will. But right now, I mean, he just looks like a guy that when you step on the floor, you know there's going to be a two to three minute stretch where you are going to go exclusively at him. And that's how they wasn't in the game. The guard Peyton and all Payton did was gave him a pump fake. He jumps about a good 40 feet, 40 inches in the air, Payton puts it on the floor, finds ten for a wide open dog. He has to get better. That's to me, if you are the pistons. And we're spending way too much time to talk about the business, by the way. It has to be relatively strong. We got to give him some love. Hey, this is like the story of the second half. They're putting them four times in a month here. It's almost like a playoff series within the season. But it's so I thought, well, but back and forth is sort of felt like it, but no, I mean, to Todd's point, I felt like something's got a good job of going at him in that second half. They knew exactly where the weak spot was. And give credit to Al Horford because he played a hell of a game as well..

"Yeah, you just expect more out of them. One of three and 20 minutes, three turnovers. You gave up two firsts and rotations. He played the game. You guys, Jamal Crawford, two, that every game. He's going to give me 20 points. This is a sweet Lou Williams. This is not limited to Wayne's Lou Williams. This is scary. He's a good player. He's going to have a lot of good games, but he's going to have a couple of stinkers. And this was no question. He kind of sucked tonight. Yeah, we're going to hold them to a high standard. No. I'm not. We say that would you say this game is an outlier though compared to what you've seen so far because I would. I mean, obviously the only time. This one was the worst of them, but four night in Brooklyn, three attend the game before that against Detroit. Maybe it's just this matchup, another bad one against Detroit last week, too. Physicality. I think that he's still getting comfortable with his new teammates, his role on the team. He's coming off the bench. I mean, you know, he's being asked probably to muted play a little bit different style than he's used to playing in. It's just going to be a little bit of growing pains, but I don't think that email or anyone in the team is less confident in him today than they were yesterday just because he kind of no show today. I'd say that both teams played the new and game today. I don't know how that screwed with them or whatnot, but they were both teams were a little sluggish out there. I mean, the game was a grind. That game was really. Yeah, I think it was less the noon start and more just how physical Detroit was. And they were moments in this game where I got super concerned with the way the Celtics were responding to my weather was complaining officials. Or just getting smashed to the ground, like granted on one play by store there and smart getting in the little scuffle with him. Beef stew. Oh, yeah. He was immersed in a party in them. Beef stew for a smart would have been, that's like dinosaur versus like Godzilla. You know, that's a big match that would be a big fight. How did you feel, Jimmy about how they responded? You have seen that. How do you feel about that pay per view thing? The one that they got the retired boxes on, they should have oh yeah. That's the team. And no, it's an outlier now because they pretty much say we're gonna follow as often as we can here. And it hurt them in the end. Cade gone to the trouble and other guys did too technicals situations like that, dialog got thrown out or ridiculous. That was called by the officials. Who knows how that's when the game too. Because he was rolling early and they just makes that little incidental contact with the ref, maybe leans into him too much there. But the rest definitely, I know both neither side loves the officiating here, but they ended up laying into it on Detroit a little bit for the physicality that they tried to play with and that build out the Celtics a little bit because I didn't think they were responding well to the way the pistons were playing them early. We saw it last week, obviously it led to an upset win. Yeah, and Bobby, you touched on it a minute ago. And I think there's a lot of truth to this. And that is Detroit played a style that clearly gave the Celtics some problems. That physicality..

I know everyone on the couple people were wondering if we're going to make it tonight. No, not only that. I was going to say a lot of people are not mentioned. We're like, keep John away from the show. He's the bad luck no. The pistons bad luck charm and I guess it wasn't him. It wasn't John's fault because there's something still managed to lose this one. It looks good under two minutes to go. You look like the Celtics just had to make one more stop. And in my opinion, Jimmy, the playlist that out to me was the odds of rebound. Over made up for it and making that three quarter, but down the stretch, Jason Tatum game winner, potential game winner. It wasn't enough. And body man he joins us from TV garden. I guess we can start with Bobby Bobby. On what went down. I know Jimmy. I mean you guys later it's all good. Bobby, bob is gonna come in hot. So we might as well give him the floor here, and you know what? He probably has some probably has a quote for us for me, maybe Douglas or maybe he does it. But what's up Bobby? What you got, bob. Yeah, he may just finish that talked about the physicality that the pistons played with. We clearly saw that in the offensive boards throughout the game. And late. I thought kade Cunningham got into Tatum very aggressively on the defensive end used 5 fouls and a wise one on the end there on that go ahead that white could have thrown the Tatum for the win. And they held it down on those last two possessions. I think it was Cunningham who said, but brown on that first one got the block with Stewart. And then on the follow-up try after Cunningham's follow, he basically saw grant, stick right with kingdom on that fade away. Not great shots to me. He may like them, especially the Tatum one there. He didn't talk so much about the Brown one. But they did prefer to get downhill there. Obviously Brown did on that first try, just ran into a crowd and didn't pass it out..

"Me and Joe sway pavone today, John and Jimmy banged in on a pistons game. Who knows? It's really back for the Orlando game as well. I mean, it's easy. Jimmy. I know you don't have to do Jo so I was almost here alone talking about Sadiq bay and Jeremy Graham for an hour. People would love my all day Sunday, all day Sunday. I'm good for tonight. All right, I'm going in on both these games. Unfortunately, this was as dreadful of a game as a possibly could have been. Kate Cunningham ruled out at the last second and didn't get to see him, which was sad. Jeremy grant didn't look like himself, so coming back from the injury there. Kelly Olynyk really limited so coming back from his injury. So the pistons just had a horrific second quarter where I think they scored 15 points. Third quarter Tatum lights them up and that was essentially the ball game they are Celtics led by as many as 22. I believe it was in that fourth quarter. The bench comes in almost blows it gets to within 7 and that last minute there. And much bigger bullet than the final score indicates 102 93. I'm Bobby Manning. We'll have a shirt blakely joining us from Detroit at some point tonight. And Joe sways here for now. So, Joe sway. We'll spend a few minutes on this game. A lot of stuff happening around the NBA, big trade today, report, another heavy dot com report. They are just churning out breaking rumors ahead of the deadline. And more Ben Simmons talk. We're going to do a ton of Ben Simmons talk tonight. They'll get the people going. Self expression. What do you want to say? I mean, I guess let's just start from the beginning, I guess. I mean, look, the stuff that's came out again with the same sort of attitude, same approach. They look like a system, you know what I mean? You know how I feel like a month ago or three weeks ago we would be saying, oh, this person look great or that guy look great and start lineup. No, the whole system is looking fluid right now. And that's exactly what you want to see, especially against a bottom feeding team like the Detroit piston is not exactly like you said. I mean, Jeremy grant is it himself, you know, you got guys out of the lineup. So you take advantage. This is supposed to be a blowout win. That's exactly what it was. You know, outside of it, besides the second union, nearly blowing it at the end there, nearly getting the starters back in there, which would have been a little embarrassing. Looking that didn't happen. Jason Tatum had a lot to do with that in that third quarter..

"And like ten times before that, this isn't what we need to do on the offensive end. We need to go to the basket. And then they started doing that. And next thing you know, they've got a few shots. I believe it was three possessions in a row. They got shots at the rim against a pistons team that really didn't have any rim protection. Mind-blowing, right? Team doesn't have room protection, attacked the basket, even if they are packing the paint, the Lakers did that, scored, able to fend them off and then again seized control of the game. So I want to give them credit for that. But should not be in this habit of blowing leads to begin with. That 19 point lead should not have been whittled down to 6 at any point and then finished the game. I would just a four point lead. If it gets knocked down, okay, 12 or something fine. 13, whatever, right over the course of the fourth quarter, you get into garbage time, things like that happen. Just fine, no problem, right? But I was thinking about it, you know, the Lakers came into this game, depending on where you're looking at it, but I believe it was on wind bet. They were a ten point, maybe it was ten and a half point favorite in this one. I was looking at that thinking there's no way. I mean, I'm favor the Lakers to win the game, but this is their MO. Even if they get out to a big lead, they give that big lead up. You know they're not gonna win. I think they've won one game this season by ten points or more. They just don't seem to put teams away completely. Now, again, credit them tonight for realizing recognizing what was happening, slamming on the brakes, changing up their strategy and then making sure that they didn't go down that dark and scary path once again. Credit them there. But they've got to stop that before they get before they give up what a 13 point deficit when it gets down to 6 from 19. All right, a couple more things. Somebody said, oh, it's in all caps. So I know they're serious. So Trevor, talk about LeBron's injury. He's grabbing late in the fourth quarter. So I'm hopeful hopeful that LeBron is okay. I am curious, I need to go back in and look at the postgame comments again. But some people were speculating, maybe it was an aggravation of the abdominal injury. To me it looked like he was more grabbing his side, let's see. Just see Frank Vogel's comments. I don't see LeBron saying anything. Let me dig back into some of these and see if LeBron mentioned anything. Okay, here we go. Our own Ryan ward. LeBron, asking if he re aggravated asked if he re aggravated his app injury, he said, no, I'm all right..

"Bunch of long jumpers late in the game has led to disaster for us in the past. Let's not do that. I don't care how much the pistons are packing the paint. Let's force the issue. Let's get the ball into the paint first and then work from there. Once they kind of refocused, the Lakers seized control of the game once again. And it was cool seeing that moment of realization. Again, it shouldn't have taken this long for them to get to that point, but it was nice to see them realize uh oh, we're heading down that wrong path again. We need to change up our choices here and start making some better ones and they did. And they ultimately won the game because of it. Matty James from YouTube, the super chat said I really want to see AD make his moves quicker. Slash attacked the rim versus holding the ball in a size up for ten plus seconds, letting the defense get set up. Not a recipe for success. Yeah, there's moments where Anthony Davis, it feels like an eternity when he turns and faces up from the wing. But he is pretty good at sizing guys up and then making his move. There are times where he holds it too long, and he has to settle for a follow-up jumper and those are not good looks, but there's also moments where he kind of lets the play develop and he gets a read for the floor and then he attacks. Patience isn't necessarily a bad thing. Think of power Gasol. Was a tremendously tremendously patient player. And oftentimes that paid dividends for him. So I don't hate it for Anthony Davis. I do think he needs to go a beat quicker, but I don't think his timing has to be catch and instantly go every single time. There's times where that's advantageous. There's times where the defense is off a step where you get a guy leaning the wrong way and you attack quick and you're able to exploit that. But Anthony Davis does have the ability to size up the defense too. I do agree though. The moments where he waits too long can be frustrating. They're agonizing because it feels like he just burns.

"So we'll see how it evolves as more players come back healthy and everything, but still, we're not that far away from having a healthy Lakers team. Really just missing Kendrick non Austin Reeves and Trevor ariza, which is, I mean, it would be a lot for most teams, but for this Lakers team this year who have had so many injuries to deal with, that's not a lot. We do need to get to the next man up award though. So of the non star players, not LeBron, not Anthony Davis, not Russell Westbrook, who was the guy who stepped up their game the most from there. And chat, if you're coming in from YouTube from Facebook from Twitter, let me know. Who do you think stepped up the most of the other guys on the Lakers? Give us your thoughts. Matt, what do you think? Who do you think should get it? Go. Going back to the world, Trevor, is Carmelo Anthony. 5 away from three, like you said, all of his attempts came from beyond the arc, 303 free throws, 18 points, two blocks. A couple boards really solid night. But the three is that he hit in the second half or pretty crucial in my opinion. He hit one of the fourth quarter that cut it to 8. Then he hit another one that I believe cut it's either four or one. I don't remember. But they were really big threes. It's one of the momentum completely in the Lakers favor. That outside shooting has been one of the lone bright spots for the Lakers season up to this point. He's been incredibly consistent. We've been joking a lot about Staples mellow versus a way mellow. We finally got good soldiers mello. We got little Caesars mellow, yes, and we were talking about that just a couple of days ago about the worst arena names in the NBA and I completely forgot that the pistons arena was little Caesars arena. And just to compare that to the deal the Lakers got. So the Lakers got 700 million or I shouldn't say the Lakers got Staples Center. The AJ got 700 million over 20 years. The pistons are getting 6 million and change per season. So the Lakers, if you do the math, the Lakers are getting about 35 and I keep saying the language. AG, right? They're getting about 35 million. 35 for gaming rights for their arena. The pistons are getting a little over 6 million.

"Everything Lakers. Your Lakers pick up a win on the road the first win of their 5 game road trip found it in game three against the Detroit Pistons, but that was not the only talking point of the night. Yeah, the Lakers went one 21 to one 16 big, big comeback. They were down 17. And then Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis led the way notice I did not say LeBron James in there. Why? Because LeBron was not in the game. He got ejected earlier in a moment that we're going to have to discuss quite a bit. I believe tonight Matt the optimist Peralta joining me, Matt. I guess first and foremost, the Lakers won so that's a good thing. Wow. I know. It's my very lukewarm reaction to the wood. We were just talking about it right before we hopped on, but how good do you actually feel about this wind trover? Because to be honest with you, I'm glad they got it, but there are a lot of caveats here and I tweeted at mid game like at halftime. I said, if the Lakers somehow come back to win this game, it's still not going to feel great. And I think I'm right. It still doesn't feel great. Yeah, I mean, I think that because it's the Detroit piston. Like if this was if this was the warriors that the Lakers done this too. It would mean a little bit more in terms of basketball, right? In terms of what we saw on the floor. But energy wise, this was my chief complaint on the last show, was that I felt like the Lakers didn't put in the effort. And in the fourth quarter they did. Earlier in the game, there were some issues. There was some moments where I just went, oh my gosh, what was that? Especially defensively. But I did feel like this was the first bit of emotion in a positive way that we've actually seen from this team, at least from certain players. And I'm talking about Anthony Davis, where we've seen them really fired up and really pushing to execute on the floor like it felt like in the fourth quarter, the Lakers really wanted to win. And that sounds like a simple thing. Like, hey, you want to win the game..

Los Angeles Lakers Could Fill out Roster With DeAndre Jordan
"Just give us a little on. What you think's going to happen with andre jordan was traded to the pistons. Everybody's yeah he's going to be out and that means he's going to be the next guy that the lakers will go get what do you say i think he is I think they're the most likely team to get him But there's just. I never say never with bio guys even because this is kind of been the rumor for three or four weeks at this point That this happened in brooklyn and it was just a matter of were they going to do the bio for him was he going to have to be traded. I if it say brooklyn a whole lot of money the fact that they they just save millions of dollars on their luxury tax bill by doing it this way. Also nicer de'andre like deandra got that because he was part of the kevin durant kyrie irving initial big three in in brooklyn and he was just. He's friends with all those guys. They played on team usa together and he was essential for them in signing with the nets. A little while back and it was a him signing that he gets paid twenty million a year that is not his market value. They overpaid for him. In the beginning as part of a like a sign let sign kevin durant and kyrie irving and it was you know finally worked out that way but at some point you make so much money and your they have a lot of guys at that position but they you know straight into detroit. They they They're going to do a buy out. He's going to give back a little bit of money. Detroit gets four second round out of it so they get something And also some other some other complicated salary cap things but we all thought lamarcus aldridge was going to miami. Last year on the market he ended up going to brooklyn so until he clears. Waivers and intel other teams have a chance to approach the andre. I wouldn't i wouldn't say it's likely or expected or anything like that. I would use much more. Vague words. you know. He fits with the lakers. He would fit in that role. I think would have a pretty well defined role and if you're on the buyout market and you're gonna sign for minimum like that's what you're looking for is someplace you can play.

Detroit Pistons Sign Luka Garza
"Luke garza could actually become a real. Nba player that guy that one collegiate player of the year and yet nobody wanted and is drafted in the nba draft What ended up with twenty and fourteen or something. Last night he was. He was outstanding Again he has dow signed a two way deal. So luger's who does nobody been. It's he'll end up getting four The pistons but luca garza signed a two two way deal. He of course had a historic collegiate career at iowa. But he was you know by all accounts slow-footed big played near around the basket and so was of no use to people in the nba. And yet he made threes. He put up to huge double doubles and in their finale. Last night ends it with twenty one point and fifteen rebounds and got himself a two way contract so the luka garza dream is still alive after getting selected fifty second in the nba draft. He was good and he's fun. You know he's a real throwback but I i love the idea of becoming you know. Just the there's i went back and looked kevin. There's never been a guy like you by where this has happened work. I becomes the naismith player of the year in college basketball. Nobody wants him now. Not all of them have panned out. I e like the tyler hands boroughs but tolerance was like a lottery pick. I think frank mason might be the lowest and he was like at the beginning of the second round nobody. There's not even close to being selected. Fiftieth or fifty. Second whatever you've picked.

Detroit Pistons Select Cade Cunningham 1st in 2021 NBA Draft
"We're about to give picks they did something different. This time they had all the guys walk out with their families. I really liked it. All right so It looks like the pistons take cunningham. Kfc we okay with that great. That's the right decision. It's kinda. I wouldn't call it a no brainer but 'cause that's speaks to evan moberly and jalen green how talented they are But it's as close to a no brainer as it gets when you're talking about a guy who's six foot seven six four eight can play. Who can shoot off the dribble who can defend multiple positions. Who's a leader. Who works hard. Like for the pistons. Here with their current roster. You know as troy weaver said everybody's a fit Became cunningham is especially at fit next to their backcourt with killian hayes city bay in the front court and i say a stewart. I love their young core in the pistons finally have hoped

2021 NBA Draft Preview With Mike Schmitz
"Really wanted to get answer is nice enough to fit us in mike schmitz who does nba draft analysis for us. Here at espn mike. Thanks for taking the time man. I know you're super busy. Yeah no problem. I actually in on my way to new york here for the draft so We're we're getting closer all right. Yeah no kidding. Perfect timing so we got you in route just in the next couple of days. I mean obviously every year is different. But how how much you think things will change in the first round between now and the actual draft. Yeah i think that teams for the most part you know. I've kind of their big boards set to some degree. But you know the biggest thing. I think that can change things as traits honestly And you know that's where from a betting perspective you know you're you're locked in on you know your your lock the draft or whatever it is your can't miss batman some team moves into the top ten and you know That kind of throws everything a for loop. So that's that's the only thing. I think That can really change things but you know other than that. I have a pretty good sense that you know the way we see things in the top ten or so Feels solid but again. It's it's always fluid. We've got more than forty eight hours to go here. Great so let's talk about just the first pick because you know the the betting odds are we saw a trevor lawrence at the jets. Pretty pretty extreme. But you know the pistons is whether it be doing their due diligence or whatnot. They've tried out a bunch of guys. How solid we with cunningham because there are reports of trade at least interest from other teams now not necessarily detroit but teams wanting to go up. Yeah i think pretty solid you know. I i think vegas has this one right You know i think cunningham will ultimately be the guy and you know even if it is like you know. Say detroit in this. I better say detroit. Is you know more interested in having moberly or jalen green and they wanna swap with houston houston to cunningham at number one i think ultimately cunningham is gonna go number one regardless. I feel like ninety nine percent. Pretty confident about that I think the league feels the same way but you know detroit doing their due diligence. I don't think it's more than that. We saw that basically a few

People take snapshots of great articles. And then send them as pictures on J pay, so I could get the message in real time or alternatively, they could make a copy and put it in the mail. No side just subscribed to The print edition, but not everything online as you know. Appears in Prince. Is it on the public sector or the private sector to offer that I wish that instead of a p that I could download online Atlantic articles or online New Yorker articles? I mean, I think that's on The provider, but that's also on some of the magazines that sort of get past. You know, Let's be honest. They were kind of rough reputation that security has, But then guess what. We don't have that information, right? So it's a really, really thorny issue. What are the stakes here? I began with the anecdote in your piece in the times about people lining up for the times. But does there seem to really be Ah, hunger? Would it help them in prison? Is it something that is really worth paying attention to among so many other things? Absolutely. You know I am where I am today because of access to the magazines that I mentioned and learn how to write in that creative writing workshop in Attica. That would still over these feature magazine articles and reverse engineer them and, like, really, really wonder how like these writers do what they do. That's because my mom Describe to these magazines and I was privileged. Unfortunately, a lot of folks don't have that extra money again. And of course, it's important. But these air private corporations to these media companies, right, so I think the question is How important is it to them to get us the information? I don't want to give up my ass wire, man. You don't want to pass that on. We started. I mean, some of them were probably from last time the editor in chief's of these places. I actually thought about writing an open letter to Jeffrey Goldberg and gave it Remnick and saying, Hey, you know, make a deal with security less read The New Yorker. Let us read the Atlantic That really helped me as a human being to read such gorgeous Writing an important reporting. In Piece earlier this month you wrote about skepticism of the vaccine. The office is coming around. Yes, I know that was inappropriate. I think we need to be a little nuanced about how we approach this. You know, there's a lot of influential prisoners. And if administrators don't lean into relationships with influential prisoners, and they don't look toe work with them say, Hey, we have this problem here. "About Talen. Mr. Tornado from YouTube says talk about tht, please. Let's do it. Let's talk about Talen horton-tucker. We saw a great Talen horton-tucker performance last game against the Denver Nuggets. He was phenomenal tonight. You say you saw the good and the bad didn't you the LeBron James touchdown pass? How much fun was that on the eve of the Super Bowl LeBron James touchdown pass to Talen horton-tucker for the jam. That was fun. It was a great play Caitlin Horton Tucker number kind of crafty reverse Labs. I'm seeing people start to notice though. He's not really finishing with his left hand much maybe something that he's going to incorporate but then we also saw the bad side. We saw him suck in to the paint when Mason Plumlee was ten feet away from the basket backing down and John Davis. And Talen Horton Tucker helped off of Josh Josh Jackson the hottest player on the floor and gave up an open 3 to him. There was no reason Anthony Davis could have been defensive player of the year last year. No, he's not playing that well right now but I will live with Anthony Davis defending Mason Plumlee who is not known for creating offense himself. I'll live with that playing straight up. There was no reason to do that. And especially if for whatever reason you decide you're going to help on to Mason Plumlee off. Why that thought would even cross your mind. I don't know. You're not leaving the hottest player on the floor who just hit a number of threes and pulled the Pistons back into the game. But that's what tht did a couple of plays later. He did something similar where he took off early didn't get back in time and gave up the three. He thought the Lakers had to turn over then as it turned out. They didn't and gave up a 3-pointer his man knocked it down. So we saw the good in the bat. We saw some Dynamic offense. We saw him attacking the basket. We saw some good passes from Talen horton-tucker. We also saw some mental mistakes defensive end, but again twenty years old. We should expect this. We should expect him to make some mistakes. I think Frank Vogel would have been Justified to pull him tonight based on the defensive issues that he had engaged in Frank stuck with them decided to stick with him say, you know what we're going to write it out and we're going to live with it, but that might be the window the mistakes THD made tonight could be opening that window off. Little bit for Wes Matthews to get back into the rotation or to get some minutes. I think that might be what we see. We'll see where it where coach vogo goes with it. But again, we saw the good and the bad tonight for Taylor Tucker still very high on him long-term. We should expect these types of performances every now and then and again this is coming off of what was one of his better games against the Denver Nuggets. So we can't complain too much about Dave and Tucker still an incredible talent, but we saw the areas where if it's playoff time..

We do have to have faith a little talk here about Talen Horton Tucker, but let me get into some of these comments. All right. Well, let's let's address this right off the top from YouTube Joseph Pellegrino. And by the way, Joseph guys suck. Whose name I called during the show. Yeah, you get a lakersnation.com license plate frame. All you got to do is send me your name and mailing address on Twitter. Send it to at Trevor underscore Lane, right? There's a d m and I will send you a lakersnation.com license plate frame. So Joseph Pellegrino said the refs were one-sided at the end of the game so many missed calls. Yes, and I mentioned it on back order and it's frustrating when you watch that right when you're watching that game and your Lakers fan and you already feel bad you you know, you just you're annoyed that the Lakers or even in this situation you're playing a pistol aimed that's missing to their veteran guys, Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin by the way sounded like Derrick Rose is on the verge of being traded. We'll talk about that in a bit, but they're missing those guys and then the referees are missing calls missing files calling fouls for the Pistons not calling fouls when the Lakers are doing similar things. It's frustrating but you always gotta go back to the Lakers should be dead. His position these calls shouldn't matter referees are human. They're going to miss calls sometimes and yes, it can be extremely frustrating but they should not matter this game should be a 20-point Lakers lead right now, and we wouldn't be complaining about the calls because the game would be over instead. The Lakers were still playing and that is our own fault. They they shot themselves in the foot all night long. Hopefully, this is a good lesson. But again, we thought we thought that maybe they would have learned this last time they played the Pistons, but it doesn't appear that they did because they definitely took their foot off the gas pedal. People ask you. Why is this double o t that's what we were asking during the game if you missed the game and you're just coming in and you're seeing double OT what happened? They're all day every day over on flick can find us at the Lakers Nation official flick age group. So come find us over there and talk Lakers with tons of Lakers fans. All right, let's do it. Let's dive into this thing LeBron James, please Anthony Davis does not know Anthony Davis. He was own with a thigh contusion, which in most cases is probably code for some load management here getting a d a little bit arrest. He typically hasn't played on the second night of back-to-backs or Thursday. Both games of a back-to-back set this season hasn't happened much and so it's not a surprise necessarily that a d sat out. But LeBron did play LeBron shot 8 4 19448 from 3 a.m. Is fine tennis has seven boards 22 points for him. Not a bad night like a little bit of a low energy night from LeBron James. You didn't really see that push. But again the Lakers kind of burned through a lot of energy game last night against the 76ers trying to battle back and then they only lost by one point. So first time this season the Lakers have dropped back-to-back game. But again, it felt like we got more of despite his stat line looking to find it felt like we got more of maybe a 70% version of LeBron James tonight than what we would normally expect how kuzma slid in the starting lineup for a d which is what we have seen. Typically the season whenever starters out, kuzma slides in 22 points for him ten Boards out of fine performance one block. We got starter kuzma. I mean the stats he put up were just fine. I know Mars. Soul is already on a lot of your minds 0.042 shooting seven boards four assists in 25 minutes, even though you got 25 minutes was not super productive out there Dental shooter despite having a decent game at the end of the night last game two for 8 tonight five boards for says ten points. No one really did a whole lot Off the Bench tonight except for one guy. I you know, that is THD Dynamite Talen horton-tucker..

"Brown another huge performance for him 31 points. He nearly had thirty three quarters here. And of course, he's shooting from over 80% in this one 81.3 months to be exact Bobby. Let's start with you Jaylen Brown. Of course in a big shot down the stretch. Of course Jayson Tatum's game-winner. They had to fight for this one though. It is a Detroit Pistons. But how do you feel about this Wing Zone? Oh, you gotta feel great about it the way they scrapped this one out the playmaking down the stretch. I think you could say definitively that between Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. This is the best plan between those two that you've seen in one individual game. I mean, it's an obvious but Tatum break and 13 assists there, but we gotta talk about Brown and where he's being, you know ranked in the league right now. We already we already got Jeff Goodman for his pregame our first preseason prediction there during the the third quarter. I shot that off. The on the group thread. I'm like listen, why isn't the NBA or at least the national media talking more about which are the Browns doing now though. He's hovering over two hundred points, you know this early in the season. League in scoring is this guy doing in Monday morning? And is Jenna Brown going to be the headline that we see on ESPN? I hope not. I hope we keep flying under the radar with Joe and because he's he's surprising teams a Scouting Report is coming out. Maybe it's coming quick. So I think it's already been here.
