Because for the longest time catherine big lows near dr was not available and brian took the the only way i could go all right ten drinks whisky whiskey and drank to pick all right. That's got some spicy. And that's an american whiskey. I guess they're all going to be american whiskas bourbons. I guess we'll find out and it tastes like a bourbon to me. I'm wondering i'm i've heard of these us he'd be. I don't think he's just like maker's mark little tincture ripe more than do a little bit. I think just suburban is my guess all right number five for me. This is a movie that come up here and there but never really made a list for me before. This is a movie that i watched way too many times at too young of an age I don't know why. But this was just one of my go-to movies me and my My other siblings. Mainly my brother. And i watched love at first bite many many many times. I do not know it was a time. I was a different ticket watching with a younger sibling. It was because we had some movie. Channels we would. My mom would allow us to tape movies that she found to be somewhat Reasonable for for young children. This movie came out in seventy nine was probably playing on. Hbo b. o. Eighty-one so i was like eight nine years old watching love at first bite over and over again. A hamilton joy. What's his name george. hamilton. Mr tan ironically tanks. He plays a vampire in this love at first bite. How how the vampire these a lot of makeup to make himself not look so so tana's movies kinda hard to find. I did find it on youtube. F- anyone also Is familiar with love at first bite doesn't even show up on. Just watch for what really but my laugh comes from the character. R-enfield original r-enfield played by art johnson. Who was a bit of character and character actor back in the day but nineteen seventy nine love at first by seventy nine sounds. Good year for pittsburgh that pirates steelers diversion. Love love. I bite and here is the laugh which to me. "Tom welcome to the show. Yeah i got the whole wall representing iron city beer on the wall. I got all my penguins and steelers and pirates stuff so i represent pennsylvania. Well here you live in central pennsylvania right. Yes are you from central pennsylvania. I'm originally from like the altoona johnstown. Like right not alert. I lived up in wilkes barre for a stretch of time donna philadelphia. I was actually in reading for the one summer reading eagle so i i'm mr pennsylvania. I am well traveled across the state. But the point is is you grew up in altoona johnstown which is one hundred percent pittsburgh fans on on absolutely. Maybe you from like living in the harrisburg the harrisburg hershey air. Say really pittsburgh across the board. It's all pittsburgh penguins. Pirates steelers were ninety minutes down easter on twenty. Two there from pittsburgh so i. It's all pittsburgh all the time in altoona johnson areas. Got okay. So let's talk about rookie of the year stuff. Tom well first of all. Why don't you just dive into do fantasy. Points dot com. Everybody's obviously familiar with joe. You can follow him on twitter at tom brawley. But you do more of the betting stuff right. Yeah i do that mostly during the season. I you know i look at lines and totals and spreads and props and even before the season. I'll dive into the season win. Totals all the player total's gone into the year Draft time doing draft props. That's my main focus. But i my background is also in fantasy sports. So i'm helping joe out with our You know the stock watch. Do the waiver wire every week. So i'm well-versed but i'll probably like seventy five percent on the betting side and twenty five percent on the fantasy and sees long style. Gotta but really joe. As i said like we dive into some of these rookie of the year odds. Yup they're also on some level just the fact that the sports book puts these. I doubt there on some level giving you some indication of the type of season. These skill guys are going to have and should be factored in some way shape or form to how ranking these guys where we're taking them and season-long best ball and dynasty. Well i actually think. And i think this might be more of a rookie season. Prompts kind of kind of discussion when you bring that up.

They became friends in the nineteen eighty s Marshall served as an honorary pallbearer at rose boroughs fuel and Roseborough endorsed Marshall's candidacy for the hall of fame. I mean it's just amazing how that wound up. Happy Anniversary Los Angeles on this day thirty, two years ago Los Angeles became the first city to simultaneously hold championships in the NBA and Major League Baseball when the dodgers beat open four one in the world series earlier in the year, the Lakers had beaten the bad boy Detroit Pistons in the NBA Finals cities have occasionally had multiple titles in the same calendar year the maybe not baseball and basketball the red wings and lions one in one, thousand, nine, hundred. Fifty two, that's jets one, thousand, nine, hundred, sixty, nine, the pirates steelers won in one, thousand, nine, hundred, seventy, nine, thirty years later the steelers and penguins one now, the dodgers a position to repeat their history since the Lakers just won the NBA title but before we get parochial about baseball basketball, let's remember who just won the Stanley Cup the Tampa Bay lightning. So it's not just Los Angeles going for two championships if the raise win Tampa gets the double. Tampa temple fans lot unlikely to be insufferable right? I mean you know we are book on Tampa fans in general on the not not likely to be insufferable like La fans are likely. Just. "Would would be the best. How do I say he's he's the last top corner we drafted in my opinion, you know what I'm saying. That's what I would say. Yeah, him. Or our wasn't bad when he was Pittsburgh and. But but not even. No one likes him. More I think him being closer. The closest thing we've had to Rod Woodson since Rod Woodson. In terms of our drastic. Yeah. I this might have been Brian. Anthony. Davis. That says you know you had will gay in two, thousand seven. You had Brian McFadden in two thousand five. Guys for. Swollen I would too but I I. You Know I. WE'LL GAY as the number one corner the team. I don't know if bad would tell us. Did you ever look at Brian? McFadden is the number one corner of the team but I looked at the number one quarter this on the team. But as he said they're. Expected. Say No. He says I is the best. So And and like and like Jay, says, I follow the receivers If anyone was going to K-. It's funny West West came on a little bit late say just your seven hundred mile drive. I don't know if you heard i Taylor announcement or not. But that's just one thing we will continue to say and make sure people are aware that to be ready for that I. Love You. More. Clock. So Rich let's get on with the show. The show must go on. We still gotta talk about stuff and the title of this show is about. You know steeler fans. It's okay to get excited about training Kim because we're GonNa talk about news but we're gonNA talk about in along with the title of the show because we had news our news is the Taylor coming on the channel tomorrow at four o'clock. So I wanNA talk this all came down to a random message. That I sent to one Jefferson Bartholomew Hartman earlier today. And I'm. Yesterday was kind of disappointing. I was just having a rough day in general with life. I mean that is just one of those. You know sometimes you have sometimes you have bad days and it was just yesterday was one of those days. At a project, the house had been working on all day. Sunday. Then there was a problem with the last minute. So I didn't feel like I actually got the reward of being completed Kinda Kinda was had had my back stiffened source is a little bit grouchy from all that. So yesterday was just kind of day and I go for the steelers coverage of training camp. And it was just like. It was busy Matthews and Mike Pursuit a talk in with. Way In the background you can see the players doing a few things I'm like I knew it was gonna be but at the same time, it didn't do it me what today I was more glued on that screen and watching every little thing. And I'm like, I'm so excited for the steelers team I can barely contain but rich. Nazi yesterday actually I got excited just. To listen to the Wolfman talking about. What went on a train campus yesterday and it wasn't yeah just listened to Craig Wilfley talking about what went on at Camp just. Made my day he did the he did the wrap up show which was after coach Tomlin's interview. Today he was on during the during the during the the practice time and I think we got a we got a couple like they pointed out a couple is ready a now I heard of hammocks in there that he was talking about someone with the Ham Hawks Let. I actually was paying attention to some more stuff and just hearing some of the player interviews and stuff today. I am so excited for this two thousand and twenty Pittsburgh steelers team. Giants yeah, I can barely contain myself I. Am I'm just ready to go. And I want more coverage and I want more news. But yet I don't want news because a lot of news is bad news. There was a little bit of bad news today there was a couple of players that. The left practice early, we had an article on the website about the act of one was was rookie Fourth Round Pick Kevin, Dotson? He heard a knee don't know the extent of it didn't didn't get the cart but was said to be helped off the field. One Benjamin Todd Rothlisberger was one of the ones that jumped in and helped him off the field that he was. He wanted to be there for for his young Lineman. So it was really really good to see that. Here and people talk and the players talk and the things that they're saying. How in the world? Are you not super I can't understand how anyone who's following along is not super excited. Now I know you don't have the level excitement as I do because you're in a really busy time a year for work and you really wish that you had more time to. Spend on this but this is this is my excuse because this is my work that I get to follow this stuff so. Tell me what you're thinking rich. Is. kind of like well, I know stuff's going on but until I can dive into it. But when As I told you the sad part was you know yesterday on my facebook memories popped up the Last year where my wife and I did the Pittsburgh doubleheader went to see the pirates steelers. That was. To we to preseason. And it just that actually started my day down on the on the Downer. Just like. I wish we were playing in preseason. Wish I could see. I could head stuff to get excited about because last year during the preseason. I was getting excited about our defense..

"Talk about football called the league and we welcome John to the show good morning John morning Sam as always great to be with you so tell us about this book because you know it's interesting about the five rivals who created the NFL during and some very tough times of the depression where a lot of them struggled but two of the five owners to the created the NFL late made their money in horse racing one being a bookmaker Tim Merah whose family is only with the giants and and then are the Roney had the Pittsburgh Steelers ninety was the batter and Merrill was a bookmaker yes and the my my book the leak it is about it it's basically a creation story of pro football the NFL and what I did instead of focusing on the players I focused on the owners a couple of will five of them in particular really influential team owners who basically banded together while the NFL is really struggling through its first two or three decades and typically going change the rules and and as you know it's and you know tough times the depression World War two and initially set up to succeed these guys were real visionaries and and fighters and so I zeroed in on five of them in particular and yes the the the two of one of one of my great delight in writing this book because I've written a horse racing books before what the two of them did come basically from the horse tracks and it's it's amazing stuff that that people have no idea about today to mera who started the New York Giants at in nineteen twenty five he paid either five hundred dollars form or twenty five hundred dollars one depending on whose version of history you believe that ate away not very much money he had never seen pro football game before I'd never seen a football game before but he'd been to the track every day for years because he was a legal bookmaker at the New York tracks which says many of your listeners may now you know if you are way back before you bet against that you know against the house basically with the computerized dot what you did you go back a century was there was a whole world of of individuals who would stand there with them then you it was a one on one process you bet with the bookies your favorite cookie and he wouldn't he wouldn't do the odds and and and collect the money and pay you back or whatever it may be tomorrow was really good at that is very social personable guy and and he was a man about town very successful in New York so he was he was a legal bookmaker in New York in in the twenties make quite a bit of money doing that and then art Rooney who intention started the Pittsburgh Steelers they were the pirates it first in nineteen thirty three he started them and he's he's quite simply one of the great horse players that that that America has ever seen he never worked a day in his life if he really really needed money he went to the track and and bad and this is not a subjective point its objectivity hadn't been hit it was covered in the newspapers he had one of the greatest runs in history about five years after he started the the football team he had a summer words in Saratoga couple other tracks around New York and he made the equivalent of fifteen to twenty million dollars over a summer and the newspapers all wrote about it they were cheering him as he went to the betting window is this little guy waddle around from Pittsburgh with a cigar in his mouth but he was just a great great horse player she and he set himself up for life with that with that run so as soon as I went along and are really works best friends great friends and one of my favorite things in the book as I put the book together there's a picture of the two of them before their teams played a game of the game is in the thirties or forties I can't recall exactly but the two of them are sitting together before the game and they're going over the past performances that day's races obviously and so they get ready their teams get ready to play football games but their mind was on the horse tracks for sure yeah it was interesting were art Rooney would that not with him because he says he was such a hot better he on a break Kim so he went ahead with the bookies yes RT at other cookies and had a very interesting to sort of read his methodology he was definitely I mean I don't believe they have the numbers anywhere close to the numbers back then that they have now but in terms of past performances and a lot of the analytics in the computer I stuff but you know they did have yeah he had a great instrument in terms that he would watch he was very he was a guy one of these guys he talked to the clockers you know he did his homework basically he talked to the clockers you spent the early mornings at the track you know watching the workout toward the barns look at the horses and I'm sure you know I knew the bloodlines cold and just really wasn't instinct better more than anything and just had great instincts he went on Terry had a long career as a as an owner he he he wound up you know you've got into the business himself as a thoroughbred owner and the family got into owning race tracks as well I mean it there was this true love I mean he he's more famous than the mayor's money I mean of course NFL teams just you know just went through the roof in terms of value eventually so family money came from football but there is not banking on the release back in the thirties a white drive very many crowds because college football was the one that drew the crowds yes college football is much more popular in Pittsburgh for instance D. Kane and you know a number of other **** it was a national power in the during the depression and self esteem the pirates they were the pirates first separate years then became became the Steelers were there that night they they were not successful they were lived in the shadows college students for sure and and Rudy he was a very benevolent sort of guy and everything were very good it was the depression he would just read all he would employ L. as racetrack buddies guys you know it's players guys that needed the job and work you know guys that ignited the track maybe amateur athletes or whatever you have to make proteins and so that was really part of the problem one that early credentials to be a head coach of our response all teams you have to go to the race track with it let me say that didn't help the team he was boxing promoter also and they were very involved as chairman Tim Merah and R. Rooney and then after ten minutes he he really wasn't a football guy but his sons loved it and of course Wellington mera who is a longtime owner of the New York Giants football team they were very loyal owners to their employees yes the one thing I learned from from this writing this book there really this is the old school of NFL franchises with that without doubt the giants the Steelers you know the Chicago Bears is George house is another one of my guys you know they they they this is really the cardinals the Redskins eagles that's sort of the old school and this real core attackers of course can't we got the Packers but this this this real core of owners they they were they were very good to their employees and very loyal and they run to this day to this day they operate differently then then that some of the newer franchises its it's I mean it is now these are huge corporate entities without a doubt but you will find them approaching it would just sort of looking at things with the greater good in mind a little bit more than than some of the newer owners like Jerry Jones and Dallas it very successful guy but that approach things a little differently than these these these teams that are still run by these old line football families we are will they release they maintain he didn't want to take the team a move it anywhere else he was at Pittsburgh guy and he was going to be in Pittsburgh and his sons believed in Pittsburgh and they've been great owners but he didn't have much success on the field when did you finally course the AFL came along and there were a lot of battles between the Oakland Raiders in the Pittsburgh Steelers but the Pittsburgh Steelers said before Mr Rooney passed away he got to see some success on the field he did art Rooney was put in the the NFL hall of fame started in nineteen sixty three that's when it opened in canton Ohio he went in in nineteen sixty four and he should have been the original class I mean he's a true founding father but for whatever reason he wasn't but at long on the date that he went in the Steelers pirates Steelers have played thirty one seasons at that point and seven up only seven of them had they had a winning record they've never won a championship they never even played for a championship I believe is true and they were they were just the bottom feeders of the NFL for many many years he was not hurt T. motor he went into the hall of fame because he was so important in the in the building ability given he was truly the conscience of the NFL in the early years which I get into in the book but shortly after that the late sixties seventies they certainly opened up the the team roster racially and started to bring in a lot of really good African American players they were one of the first and by the early seventies they had one of the best teams in the league and then throughout the seventies they won four super bowls and he was alive for all of it so he did see him and he was out of the running of the team by then he was an old man but he he definitely saw the Steelers go from the bottom of the lake to the top Hey this is son Dan who ran the team and they were really part of Pittsburgh you know he kind of followed in his father's footsteps hello yes very loyal to the to the city they've only had like three coaches last sixty years yes it's a very I I think that's right Chuck Noll bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin yes you're right about Nigel was the late sixties nineteen so I don't that's it certainly at least fifty years I made right amazing so yeah a great a great franchise and then the mayors family they enjoyed football and they ran they were a real pillar of the early days and then there was George Halas when did they decide to as he pointed out you're only as good as your weakest team and they started to do things so it gave everybody a chance to managers to draft yes that was in the nineteen thirties a key moment dearly by the thirties of the best teams in the league for the Paris giants and the bears George Halas the Chicago Bears and they were ruling the league and there was no there was no process for distributing college talent coming into the league the service relate that week was still a fly by night enterprise in the thirties the heart of the depression and anybody that wanted to play pro pro football could sign a contract with anyone there was no right there's no anything there was a free for all for for for any player all the good players of course the rich teams had more money and so they got all the good players so the rich rich is getting richer and Bert bell who is one of my five guys and another guy here in mine but that the race track by the way per Gallup Philadelphia Pennsylvania who started the Philadelphia Eagles era in the thirties and then also one of the commissioner of the NFL won the real key guys in league history he stood up at a league meeting and he couldn't get players the eagles were the worst team in the.

Three of last season admitted the final. Show yeah congratulations on that. Thank you I guess. We have spent a little time together. Because I was doing a show in Pittsburgh standup show and you and your family came to the show and this is what I'd always still going. I really couldn't even say you were there. Because it was still seek and they wouldn't even let you get up and saying because we were going to. I was so bummed about that too. Yeah I didn't come to that show and you put on a great show Pretty funny but is that what you laugh when I tell a joke. I'm so curious about what happens then. I want to work backward right like today for example today. What did you do in town today? Today I went to a head phone call meetings and I had a record label maiden care without seeing the name of the record label. Yes went to a record label and did what I sang some songs. Did so describe what that's like because your your your new artists Do you live here yet now. Are you moving here? I don't know I don't know I don't know I mean I feel like it's not a bad thing that I don't live here because if I fly down here for two weeks and then fly back to living somewhere for furry. I'll take as of right now. If you don't live here you'll never make it here. You don't link to start no if you make it big you can move out. You can go just more. Does it He lives in Arkansas. But he was. Here YEP ZAC. Brown is probably the biggest example but again he's Brown so not that you're not Gabby Barrett but you just Gabby Barrett right now my advice to you. I'm still mentoring you're ready. Yeah I know you're eighteen but you gotta move here you have to because you have to be with everybody all the time you have to be writing all the time like every day every night you have to be riding but how do you pay your bills. You go and you work at Tutsies Away. Tables does it. There's no shame have shame anymore. It's how do you want it because if you're not here they're going to be so many opportunities pass by someone's going to go. We need someone tomorrow night. And you're going to be in Pittsburgh and I'll fly down that night but I'm telling you I've already done it before you haven't done it. I have. I've taken many red is down here before not the same. I'm just telling you it's not gonNa work until you come down here and work all right and then it's GonNa take a while it's going to take a couple of years. Okay do you believe that? Yeah Yeah I do. I'm trying to get in the door early as early as I can. But because you're good there's no doubt about it. It's crazy to come to a place like Nashville where everybody's so good town in in you need to be around them all the time because I'll make you better and you'll make them better and you'll write songs all the time and you. Have you ever been to camp? Church camp regular camp or summer camp. I don't know what can people go given united. Yeah okay go in with your little group knows people and you're like Oh that's my class Mama Mama folks right high school even did you ever high school. Yeah everybody would high school was when you graduate like that your class make those in Nashville. And then there's everybody rises. They kind of pull each other up or they they help anyway. Point is you have to move. We'll see okay. Well you have to move here actually talked to Luke Bryan about it. And he said he's the one who actually said to me he said if you're coming down for two weeks and then go back for two weeks. He was like you're doing all right. And so that's what I listened to make sixty million a year. He's completely out of moved here. Luke had to move here to make it so anyway. I don't want to harp on that. Actually have quite general questions about what happened today. So tell me about today. You go and you. You're say hey come. Play something like your leather rubbing. What's that noise lender squeaking in my? It's quitting against the cord. The headphones that make the noise. So you go in you go to a record label room. Who's in that room? It's me my manager and three other people that's it yes and they say what do you. I'm sorry am I Qatar Blair. Okay and they say what do what we just started talking about. What's been going on after idol End Before and We played some of the songs that I have some of the songs. I haven't preparation to release As well as I hope in then I did. Some songs lives so they could hear sound like life. And how many songs do you play them? How did I do very awkward there? Only three people watching and judging everything that you're doing or you can just get in your own space. It's definitely a challenge for short. Because it's like when you have three bill. I felt like I was back on the executive rounds on American idol whenever the producers were in the room and you know there was only ten people. Because it's all eyes are on you and it's more concentrated smaller group than a big crowd. It's easier to do that so it is but I think it went well. So we're watching their faces as you're playing. Yeah yeah to see too long or not. And what were they giving you? They liked it. Yeah they liked it. Yeah it's like it's a little bit of everything so they were liking it. At least I hope so. And what do they say when you leave the room is it? Hey that was great like generic generic and they go and tell you really later how they feel or did they give you any sort of direction. Normally you can tell because I have met with fewer labels before and normally you can tell if a are like feeling it or not In their reaction seems pretty genuine. Like basically I'm I'm really thinking about being on board here. Oh Yeah so. What do you have to do next? I just saw them. I would continue to send them songs content stuff and if they need anything from me that I'll send it and then you went from over there to overhear. Yes pretty has pretty cool day. Get to a plan for big record people day. So tell me about. Let's go back to idle. Let's rewind a bit so you addition into where what city Anderson in Nashville Tennessee. They want to do it. Because when the producers had contacted me to audition for the show they said you could choose from three places and I was like Nashville definitely place. How do they find you to tell you to do the show they have producers that reach out Or look on the Internet for their Youtube and through hashtags on instagram. And things like that and I would always put Hashtag American idol and stuff and they reached out from seeing videos on the and the first time a producer reaches out. Are you going come on you mess with me almost? Yeah because well when you get an email like a producer wants to skype with you you're like is a spam or is it right so like you you don't want to set yourself up so you're like okay this is real and then when you see them in there like okay we'll call you back here like thrill so it was really cool. So what does the producer say to you when you get on skype? I'm Gabby high pleaser. I think they're like saying your name and Your Age. And then what are you gonNA think for us and you tell them what you're saying you're saying yeah I did? I did have to sing. And he's like. What do you do these days when I was like yes? 'cause I feeling he was going to say if he said that and that means he likes what he's hearing so do know who it was named. Peter yes so you sing in front of Peter. Peterson come to Nashville. Yeah do they buy your plane ticket or did you just get like a kind of cut passed by my plane ticket? I can't even. I can't remember that I don't know if I bet because I don't I don't deal with any sixteen seventeen seventeen so you fly down. Yeah do you cut the line at all? Since they've already seen you. I was like the first one there I remember I got to. It was at the Forgetting the name of the Christian Country Music Hall of fame. Yeah it was there and I was downstairs in the lobby at six forty five and I remember I was like the first one and then they all took US upstairs. And then one by one did the audition for you. Did you feel like you knocked out? I mean. It didn't go the way that I thought it was going to now. What did you expect you expect to walk in? And what why walked in and sang a country song because that is mainly what I love to do. as my main genre and they were kind of confused by it Because I did originally start in a gospel choir arm be was originally my roots And so they weren't very fond of the country at first and then so I actually got through with the Gospel. Go through what would you say? His is on the sparrow and then they said okay but your country artist well actually saying. Carrie underwood good girls and church bells. I think three songs. Yeah I had to saying to those songs and they were like. Do you have anything? That's not carry. And I was like I have Gretchen. Wilson redneck woman downside of that was like okay. And then we. We're only supposed to have three songs prepared. So whatever they asked me to do it was almost like on the spot on the fly from there and then they asked me to do a church song and I was like okay. That's the first one. I'm GonNa do it because that was my main song when I was in the church one nine so then you go back home and they say your golden ticket or whatever they go to Hollywood right so it's going to be a few weeks a month before that was like a couple months. It was in October. And then Hollywood. Waco's in January with that long decided the whole time like every going. I can't wait. I can't I can't wait. Yeah I was coming out with like a blueprint in my head if to pass this what I'm GonNa do next the next the next instead of coming up with it while I'm there I would. I'd Hollywood week this year. I started at the beginning of the season right. Yeah I the Hollywood kind of grind. Oh yeah that's the tough this week overnight to get the group even. I was feeling bad for the kids watching. Tv It looks fun and it was still right still is fun but these kids were getting a group fighting with each other. They were all sleep deprived. It's a difficult week. I remember going through. That was like well shoot like this is hard. I mean but but was fun to because I'm a person that likes to challenge myself on literally everything so something's a challenge to me. I'm like let's go. Let's go Into that week is to. It separates the league from the strong honestly who cracks. And who doesn't in WHO's ready to go on with the competition. Competition is not easy. It's not easy at all so Whoever can outlast longest? So you do the group then it's Solo and group you move out of the top twenty four and that's where I came in and the first time. Yeah I remember what I don't. I'm trying to think if I remember what you were wearing. I remember I remember what else they just. Give me my clothes and I just put them on those producers pepper. You had so many questions all the time and they brought me into not produced the right to be a human right. You guys could actually talk to him and I could be like well. I mean I understand this right but man I will watch those producers in all in all black behind the camera and they just like thousand questions. Did you guys all the time? Yeah they do they they always I mean just to get every single possible answer I guess out of I said Cam because sometimes it's hard to get answers out when you're excited about something what was your storyline. My storyline on American idol. What were they they highlighting about you because everybody kind of has a story right? Your Dad was. Was there a lot on your underage your minor as they call them and so your family was there. That was my main story. I'm just extremely close with my dad one bait I was always a daddy's girl growing up. And so he you know even before American idol. When I start when I started singing at nine in the choir and then eleven did my first show all the way up to seventeen and at seventeen years old before I'd Oh I did one hundred and thirty six shows that year alone so soon shows Gospel choir or does he play yourself no myself so like I was with a Gospel Choir from nine to eleven in eleven. I left the Gospel Choir and started doing shows doing anthem for the pirates steelers..

Third String quarterback of course the top two of gone down no question you know at just potluck bad luck. Whatever the case might might be but Your feelings about the Pittsburgh steelers and again. I was surprised when they're eight and five and now eight and seven but the point. Is there still a chance if they could sneak. Sneak into the playoffs. But your thoughts about the whole situation as far as steelers concerned in Pittsburgh during I always call friends family remembers cousins. Anybody around there you go to a pirating steeler game one per bag over your neighbor doesn't know you're up that prevent the only event in Pittsburgh that you really don't have to really put a bag over your head is watching the Pittsburgh Penguin hockey but As far as concerned two straight weeks lane here Sunday night they had the center stage. They play back and forth Buffalo. They don't have a quarterback draft a quarterback and if they do draft the quarterback. It's a mediocre quarterback quarterback at York ruins lay an egg. "So taken a leave it go. Fuck yourself. All of that sheri- companies oil companies, it's politics. It's all complete bullshit. And I am. Absolutely. I'm not mad at you. If you believe in those industries, I more fascinated by you. So whatever you would think that I wouldn't have this sort of fucking fire and brimstone this week. Would you with the another Boston team winning championship? I actually have to MIT as a sports fan. I said, I know I've said it countless times on this podcast that if the Bruins won the Stanley Cup that was the only other championship I needed to see by Boston team. I was going to retire as sports fan, which is one, I think I'm gonna do I'm done. It's not going to get any better than this. I think I'm walking away. Walking. I'm going to retire like Jay z did after the black L them. And I'm just going to drop in and do some guest spots every once in a while. I'm trying to figure out what teams I'm back into the Pittsburgh Pirates. I've been following them lately. Still the nineteen seventy nine team that was my favorite World Series of all time. Other than obviously watching the Red Sox went in two thousand four. Fucking love that team. I love the players. I love the uniforms and I loved sister sledge. It was just it was a fucking. Try not try factor. That was four there. I suck at math, whatever. So I actually went back and I started looking this is what a fucking nerdy. I'm looking at championships and I'm sitting here trying to think in within a ten year period, basically, can you period from February from February two thousand two to June of two thousand eleven less than ten years? Boston a city with four teams one team in every major sport, one at least one championship in all four sports. We ran the table. All right. The fucking championship grand slam. And I'm saying we yes, I am because I live vicariously through them. All right. Don't give me that shit, dude. You didn't do anything. Fuck you, I get devastated. When they lose. So why I'm not allowed to have some joy you fucking cont. I know this is ridiculous. Let me have my bread circus. So anyways, we've run the fuck it table. So I actually looked back all the way until the nineteen fuck and twenties to try to find another. You can't even do it. I was trying to find another city that has four teams that is one off or trophies within ten years. No one's ever done it. And you can only go back to nineteen fifty because that's when the NBA started, okay, the Lakers with the fucking be a championship in nineteen forty nine that you add to try to come close to the Celtics. She cuts. Sorry. The closest I saw was in the nineteen sixties, and it was the city of New York, and they have six teams so they don't really qualify. And even then the Rangers fucked it up for the Yankees won in. Let's see sixty once they wanted sixty sixty sixty two the Mets wanted sixty nine the sixty eight jets team won. And then the nineteen seventy Knicks one. So that was four but they didn't get the Stanley Cup and not to mention they would double down in both fuck and football and baseball. So it doesn't really count. But I wasn't able to find another one. The closest shit that I was able to find was Pittsburgh. The pirates Steelers won it and seventy nine and then the penguins but they only have three teams but the penguins wanted in ninety one that was like the closest I was able to find. I'm sure there's some other things here. And I bet New Yorkers try to get technical. It'd be like all the islanders renew York they want it go fuck yourselves, go fuck yourselves..

"A shocker and he. His way responded that was the throw a teammate under the bus that did nothing, but respect him. So obviously, he doesn't get it doesn't get it. The media comes to play everyday social media comes to play dirty every day, and he should be about that. He's a thirty year old, man. And he just won't he won't let it go. He has the maturity of ten year old. It seems like but he's playing. He's playing dirty social media's. Well, look, I mean. Yeah. Yeah. Social media for us is. It's a necessary evil. I mean, if I have to be on it what? But I mean, multiple EM addicted the Facebook now because I wanna know what happens to people they you get a lot of permission from remember what happened to high school and in college people. I mean, you nev- you hardly ever see me put my personal stuff up on there. Hardly ever. And there's a reason because there's no reason to do it. I don't want people to know that I'm pissed off. I don't want people know that this ice cream Sunday. I'm eating yummy. I mean, who cares? And you know, what when I'm on vacation. When I'm on vacation. You don't see a picture of me on vacation until I get back. 'cause you're Robin my house. You know, you're not. Yeah. No my business. So that's, but but I I like social media for the same reasons you do. But then this kind of stuff I mean, this kind of stuff is ruining people. And I know I mean, this is this is a tired statement. But I'm gonna say it again. I graduated high school in nineteen eighty nine. And I think you're close to eighty nine eighty eight ninety somewhere around there while I was held back in the third grade. So unfortunately, I didn't graduate ninety one. Okay. So sorry that's trying to get personal in there as all right? I don't care about. So what delve into that that third grade year? Another time was nineteen seventy nine. Your. What's? So it was the hangover the the champions. It was the pirates Steelers winning championships that caused you to. Let's probably what you were doing back in second seventy. So we excuse that Tony I'm gonna I mean, forty years later. I'm gonna say, it's okay. All right, validation. Finally. That's why I love hanging out with you on this show. But so before we got onto that the reason I was bringing up nineteen eighty man is. I besides Zack Laurence having a giant cell phone that he would use every once in a while and saved by the bell. Probably anyone had him. I mean, I don't sixteen candles. The car had a phone, and they eighty for that was really cool. I am so thankful that I didn't have social media back then the friends that I'm friends with now we've probably all hate each other. I might be you know, knows what kind of trouble. I would have been because we like to do. I mean, we did some crazy stuff back then and he would have gotten really ugly. So I'm actually thankful that. I don't have it. But in this job that we do here. It's nice to know that somebody can make a full out of themselves on social media. We can go ahead and exploited Tonio brand thing. At this point. He's destroying his legacy. He he really is this stuff might get washed away. But this is coming to a raider locker room, very very soon. And if you're the raiders, how do you nip this in the butt, and if you're in the Steelers, if you're the Steelers, how do you continue to approach this? Raiders for oh. Well, the raiders I mean, you have to you have to get a person in in their organization that that he can confide in that he could he can trust. Otherwise, he's gonna be out of control. And you know, it's going to happen because it happened here. So people don't really change. And if you let him if you let him loose in let him run run the show like, you know, like it see like he wants to in the room. Then it's going to happen again. You know, gear cars. Okay..

Your golden ticket or whatever that go to Hollywood. So it's going to be a few weeks a month before that was like a couple of months it was in October. And then Hollywood waco's was in January that long decided the whole time like every day going can't, wait. I can't wait. Yeah. I was coming out with like a blueprint in my head. If I'm to pass this what I'm gonna do next next next instead of coming up with it while I'm there. I would I did Hollywood week this year. I started at the beginning of the season. I the Hollywood we kind of grind. Oh, yeah. That's the toughest week. Overnight the to get in the group, even I was feeling bad for the kids. You know, it's. Watching TV. It looks fun. And it was so right. Still was fun. But these kids were getting groups fighting with each other they were all sleep deprived. It's a difficult week. I remember going through that leak, and I was like, well shoot. Like, this is hard. I mean, but, but it was fun to because I'm a person that likes to challenge myself on literally everything so something's a challenge to me. I'm like, let's go let's go. And so that week is to it separates the leak from the strong. Honestly who cracks in who doesn't and who's ready to go on with the competition because the competition is not easy. It's not easy at all. So whoever can outlast longest so you do the group then you it's solo and group you move on to the top twenty four. And that's where I came in. And I guess a measure for the first time. Yeah. I remember what? I don't I'm trying to think if I remember what you were wearing. I remember what I. They just give me I mean. My clothes. And then I just put them on those producers pepper, you would sell many questions all the time. Yeah. Like, they just they brought me into not be a producer right to be a human, right? You guys could actually talk to him. And I could be like, well, I'm going to let me I understand this. Right. But man, I will want those producers in all their all black behind the camera, and they just like thought thousand questions did you guys all the time. Yeah. They do. They they always. I mean, just to get every single possible answer. I guess out of said can because sometimes it's hard to get answers out when you're excited about something. What was your storyline? My story on American idol. What were they they highlighting about you? Because everybody kind of has its story, right? Yeah. Your dad was a lot. You're underage minor as they call them. And so your family was there that was my name story. I'm just extremely close with my dad one abate, I was always daddy's girl growing up. And so he even before American idol when I start when I started singing at nine in the choir, and then eleven I did my first show all the way up to seventeen and at seventeen years old before I'd oh I did one hundred and thirty six shows that year alone. So. Doing chose gospel choir or discipline yourself. No myself. So like, I was with a gospel choir from nine to eleven in then eleven I left the gospel choir and started doing shows doing anthem for the pirates Steelers just different stuff all the way up. So it was like a grind for six years. So you saying the pirates is pretty cool. Yeah. The pirates Steelers the Steelers would be a bigger thing. It's more concentrated in one game. Yeah. Nerve wracking using the anthem, and it was a hinesville. Yeah. It was I know because it was a bigger crowd because it's like bigger you can't see like is on your. I just I got more of a journal rush from that. And rather than earth your mess up in general nosing in the anthem. No, thankfully, not yet. Hopefully, not at all. But I actually have to sing the anthem coming up soon and March sometime for basketball game to be the first time you're saying on a big stage. The first time I ever on national anthem twelve for the pirates really freaked out at all, you know, what he you know, what freaked me out a little bit wasn't the people. It was the delay. A Mike in the stadiums. You you'll do this. Yup. In this comes over the top of you like a second later whole second. And maybe twelve years old. I just started never experienced before. I was like what the heck? But I still like manage to get through it. But that was difficult because som- stadiums give you ears that you can turn up a pack, and you don't hear that they didn't. "pirates steelers" Discussed on Behind the Steel Curtain

"More of the mean in the average between the highs and the lows. If we haven't really seen that consistent average performance, but did the average performance for this team at the defense can just get four. Field goals get off the field. A couple times down in offense can just consistently put a points the way that we think that they can. I say, consistently on purpose. I think this team can be really, really tough to beat, not saying they're going to the Super Bowl, not saying they're gonna make the playoffs not saying they're going to win the freaking division, but I think they're good enough to win this game Atlanta's reeling Pittsburgh's at home. I like the home team thirty eight to thirty five Pittsburgh. They would advance the two in one and then go to Cincinnati where they would play in week six. So there you have it. Well, you know what, Jeff, I hope you're right. I hope I'm wrong. In fact, I don't know how I've been right lately. If you ask my wife, I'm never right on anything. And I'm thinking right now. How have I picked these games I've been. I've been pretty consistent the last the entire season. The only place I was wrong was the tie. I actually picked a loss that week. I'm usually not this pessimistic. I'm hoping I'm wrong, and I hope I get back to normal. So you know, like I say every week when I pick against the Steelers, I will be glad to come back next week in eat a whole bunch of crawl. Absolutely. We tease tease out a little bit earlier, and it was a any segment that if listened to the show this long using an audio form or if you're listening in on YouTube. Listen, it's kind of getting away from the nuts and bolts of football. We're not talking about locks match ups and stuff. I sent Brian text the other day out of the blue. I like to do this is some people's on time, and I love asking people questions one or the other I asked my kids is we'll be sitting at dinner and I'll say, hey, would you rather have a cookie or cake? It helps to get. I get to know my kids better that way. And I sent Brian Texas in which movie was better rocky five or no holds barred. Now, if you listen to this and you've never heard of those movies and your younger, I really don't want to tell you to watch rocky five because. No holds barred is not much better than that. And so Brian said, what did you say was better? I said no holds barred one because it's hall Cogan wrestling Mark, but here's the bottom line to the whole thing. Stallone was going for an Academy Award and going back for your greatness in trying to recreate the magic of the franchise and be awesome, and be great, and he just completely failed. The WWE was behind actually the WWF back then was behind this picture. You had tiny Lister going up. Also, Zeus, Zeus, going up against hall Cogan. They weren't trying. They were just trying to yell line hulk Hogan's pockets, and so whole bunch of merchandise, and that's exactly what they did. So that's why I'm going with no holds barred. There was some crazy stuff in that movie. It's actually eight. It's so bad. It's awesome. It is. And so then it got us thinking we should do say at the end of our preview show, that's just kind of off the cuff and loose in is about movies. And so what we decided to do, we'll serve with football. We'll do other sports movies as well, and I'm just gonna ask Brian, which is better and why. And then maybe we agreed maybe we disagree. This is a tough one. We're going full ball movies. Now I had told Brian was going to be between any given Sunday in the program. Nope. Change it up. He doesn't know this and it is here. It is. What would you rather watch? Remember the titans or Rudy. First of all. You see the shirt I'm wearing, right. I can't see the color. I can't gold. So your way with the penguins, pirates Steelers..
