"The U s open this year? It's Torrey Pines. Okay, Thank you for bringing that up. Isn't that the course like tiger usually dominates, or how dominant was possible was good at Torrey Pines. It was always good everywhere. He was good. A lot of places. He was really It was always really good at Bay Hill. Um, but Torrey Pines. I learned something about Torrey Pines. I did not know yesterday, which is Do you know the farthest out? The U. S open has been planned. So this tournament. How many years out? Do we know that these events happened? Right? Like the final four? The Super Bowl, Right? How long? How far out? Did they bid it or whatever I would honestly with golf majors, I would have guessed no more than like. Maybe. Three years. Okay? So what? What's the year on that? So where are we 2021? So 20 to 2024, okay? 2024. I would. I would have thought the same thing, right? Yeah. Okay, according to According to Pinehurst Resorts. Twitter account. Yeah. Um Little little longer than that. You said 2024. Yeah. Oh, no. There they are hosting in 2024 a little later. 2035. They are actually funny enough hosting the 2035 us open. Know what Still later? Yeah. So far. You're amazing later later, even farther. 2043 They're hosting it in 2041. And even 20 years from now, even a little a little later. What they're hosting the 2000 and 47. U. S Open. I'm not. I'm sure I'll be alive for that. One of the Pioneers resort Twitter account said. You know, the Torrey Pines is an anchor site, so they're locked in that it will always kind of rotate back to Tory point, the 2047. Well, let's open. You should start planning now you want You want me to reserve us a hotel room? I have trouble thinking about Thursday. That one Thursday seven. I don't I can't think about Wednesday yet what will golf look so they don't okay, but they don't They don't have every year they don't have every year. They're just locking in Torrey Pines for 25 years. I think so. Or Pinehurst or what? Admitted certain sources. They don't bid out. I'm sorry. You're right. I heard right now It's Pinehurst that has that. Sorry, so they don't use it, but they don't bid out like they don't know their lineup. Every year up to 2040 whatever they're just saying, Hey, Pinehurst, urine and whatever. 24 35 41 40 2024 29 35 41 47 Pinehurst. Yeah. That's crazy. Yeah, I wouldn't. I don't know why. I just never like you Always see the N C. A with with Final fours with frozen fours with regional tournaments like you know, when we host the 1st and 2nd round Don't we know? Like five years in advance? It's coming. I didn't. I just never really remember seeing any stories. About the U. S open or the PGA Championship or the Open Championship. The British Open. I never remember seeing like story. Okay, Well, you know, just so you know, here in the next five years, it's locked in and all this just seems like it's always one year later. Here is where they're going to be. Get your tickets now for the 2022 U. S open at Pinehurst or wherever it's going to be the U. S open. It kind of ends up looking like Super Bowls Do Because here are the next six Torrey Pines, then the country club in Brookline, Massachusetts. The L. A Country club in Los Angeles. Pinehurst, Oakmont, Shinnecock Pebble Beach. It's a lot like the Super Bowl, where it's like, Occasionally we'll throw it up in Minnesota in New York, but it's always gonna be Tampa, Arizona. Miami, New Orleans. Yeah, I mean, that's Kabul, Shinnecock Oakmont, Pinehurst, Torrey Pines, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Right? Yes, that's right. And Shinnecock is Long Island. That's right. Yeah, see, those are like I'm not a huge golf fan. But even you know, a casual fan would know those particular sites. Um, and of course, everybody. I guess everybody would know Pebble Beach. Yeah, I don't. I wondered. I'm going to guess they don't do a Super bowl like process where you have to place your bids, and the organizers get like free cars. And this is this that the Olympics where they block off lanes of traffic just for you. And you get free rounds of golf and all these goodies If you, uh, you have to put it in as part of your bid to learn it. When I saw this, I wondered the same thing. Yeah, it's preposterous Services. Stuffy Olympics campaigners can book out till 2000 and 47. How about that? Can I buy a ticket right now? What would they cost me? I'd like to make an investment. What are tickets now? For the U. S opened, you know? No, I don't. Hmm. I should find out 2047. Well, we won't be using cash by then We'll be on some other monetary system, right? And if I put money into an account right now may be sure. And I could have the tickets in 2047 1 will be how many years old? 60. Oh, you know what this is? This is great. This is the twins need to get you tickets for a father's day gift in 2047 is a good idea. I like this idea. Yeah, I mean, well, I make it to that. Who knows? You'll make it to that. No. And you'll be sixties. What are you 67 68? Where were you born? 17 79. So you'd Yeah, you'd be like 68. I don't want to ask about. I mean, you want to know what I'd be? I mean, come on, you'll make it I'd be like 85. Yeah, but you've already seen like 100 U S open. Thank you very much. I'll tell you that. Bobby Jones. He should have turned pro. Uh, yeah, tell the twins. I think the twins Your wife might have to help out because I'm guessing the twins can't purchase tickets yet. They.

That I bought with you're going to be out on long hikes and that sort of thing, which has a thing that comes down and coverage, your shoulders. It covers your ears and your shoulders. So it's like doctor most was saying, You know, if your ears are covered, your head is totally covered and the back of your neck. That's what this does for me. Sounds like a burqa. Are you are you? It? Sounds like you're wearing a burka. Oh, not quite. Not quite. It's good. You pick that up in the Middle East somewhere. No, I picked it up here. If you go on my Facebook page, you can see pictures of me wearing this hat. Now I've seen those hats. They're I mean, they're, uh They're kind of like floppy hats right there. Are you a hat Wear? Yes. More often than not. You'll find me where the baseball hat on. Especially on the golf course I do have one of those kind of your doctor. Right, Doctor Most just texted me a picture of his hat. I have to say he is the first person ever in the history of mobile electronics to text me a picture of us out. He made it. He had a very good description of that hat. I can easily visual. We're gonna post we're going to post his picture. With him wearing the hat doesn't had itself No, He doesn't have the hat on. Okay. It's sitting on his counter. It looks like ask him to text you where he got because I'm playing golf tomorrow. I might need that. Well, this is a, uh he actually sent me two pictures. Every place cells the proper hat to wear on a daily. Some are better than others, obviously, but, you know, Yeah, He's right. Because you're you're on the sun for the better part of four or five hours playing 18 holes. You gotta be careful. And even though it's not even if it's not that sunny out If there's a little cloud cover you can still get you can forget still get burned. Sure got to be careful. Well, my head I, uh as best as I can. Described the one that I wear in my backyard to amuse my neighborhood. Just justify, don't look ridiculous enough already sweating like a hog. Out. Well, I'm working in the yard. I put this hat on. If you've ever seen the Beverly Hillbillies TV show, it's the kind of jet clambered. Where is it? It's like the jet. It's a big golf. It's got like a giant brim on it. It's embarrassing, but I don't care because it Yeah, it's protection. Text my bald head. They fashion goes out the window when it comes either being cold and bundling up or being warm and having to take care of what you have to take care of. Especially when you got as much you know, bald head as I do. And I know what you say. When you walk outside wearing that had and it's very hot outside, just doggies target. Okay. And then you wave. The Mystery Of The Pennhurst Asylum

"The eastern pennsylvania institution for the feeble minded and epileptic later called pinehurst asylum was originally established as a facility for the disabled opened in nineteen o eight. The property contained in array of buildings all scattered around large tracts of farmland in chester county. Thirty miles outside of philadelphia though it might sound like it was designed for care and comfort. The reality was anything. But the institute was first created to house intellectually and developmentally disabled people alongside those who suffered from epilepsy but this strategy was unwise as such patients had very different needs. What's worse is that. Many of the institutions goals were based on the nineteenth century eugenics movement proponents of the movement believed that the human gene pool should be protected and anyone deemed. Genetically inferior. Should be prevented from reproducing by forced sterilization or segregation from the rest of society. For this reason. People with certain kinds of disabilities whose families could not care for them were sent to penn hearst. Most of them came as infants or children. Girls and boys are separated into different buildings. So there wouldn't be any sexual mixing in the decades since the institution closed a slew of modern day rumors claim that penn hurst carried out forced sterilizations on its patients. But while sterilization did occur at similar institutions in the united states. There was actually no record of it at pinehurst. Rumors of the institute's horrific procedures ran rampant. The last perhaps this is because the hospital was shrouded in an era of mystery it operated almost completely independently of the outside world. It had its own power plant and produced its own. Food and supplies were brought in by a special rail. Line pen hurts was designed so that no one from the outside could get in but more importantly so that no one on the inside could ever get out. Georgie was carrying a stack of folded sheets toward the finish piles. When he noticed a girl arguing with an orderly. George stopped in his tracks. She had long shiny hair and was pointing a finger directly at him confidently shouting and screaming. He was instantly captivated and continued to watch her but eventually to more orderlies came over to give her a shot. And take away georgie side. Good things never lasted. Long at penn harris georgia's mother had left him there when he was only three. He never knew why not what he done or where she'd gone he'd been stuck in this place for twelve years and he knew it like the back of his hand. He knew that when the girl got taken away it was the last he'd see of her or so he thought The next day georgy walked into the laundry building at his heart nearly stopped there. She was if he someone else. He could've tapped on her shoulder and introduced himself but as it was he could barely manage breathing and walking at the same time. Georgie said down in front of his pile of sheets and started cursing himself for being so shy and that was when someone tapped him on the shoulder turned. The girl was standing behind him. A fitted sheet in her hand. She has georgie how to fold it. Her name was kerry. No one was happy to be. A pen harassed. But carrie was indignant about it. She said she didn't belong there. That was why she'd been fighting with the orderly. There was no way she was going to spend the day slaving over an ironing board if she wasn't getting paid the orderly at said that barbital injection might change her mind but it obviously didn't soon george bush love. He used to find laundry duty tedious. But now it was the only thing. He looked forward to because laundry. Duty meant seeing carry a few weeks. After they first met george carey was sitting on a low stone wall outside the laundry carried. Turn to him with a frown. She asked to launch. She was a burden after her parents died. Her guardianship went to her uncle.

It's just that I've grown up and my garden line growing up world We've known that as E. T s in rich topsoil. Everybody has an E T s what they name it is up to them. Just remember what e t s is is a soil that goes down and gets blended into your existing Saul Before you lay new sod on top of that high, that's all clear. Ready. Here we go. Full board. Let's get after Brad Pinehurst get started this hour. Very randy. Uh I called you In a week or two ago, and I was trying to track down a plum tree. So just f y I does. You came up with? It was definitely a golden beauty, okay? The reason that I was trying to figure it out. Just get more. Unfortunately, they're kind of hard to find. But you kind of just answer the question I was looking at next weekend looked a little iffy on the temperatures because I mean there's blooms all over this thing. So I needed to get started on prune in it. Yes, you could do that today. Okay. I probably said that already. But even if it gets down to 35 degrees that's not gonna affect negatively new blooms. New leaves being set it would have to own a plum tree would have to get down into the Twenties 9 28 29 to have a negative effect at this time of the year that I don't see that happening in even in Pinehurst. Okay, because I'm just looking at whether dot com and it was showing like 34. 33 does that That's not a freeze. Yeah, I know. It's just We've lost the plums two years in a row, and and it's like I'm telling you if you prune anyway, and you should you really should do your printing on it today, But if you wanna wait for the printing tip sheet, come out. I'm good with that. Uh, I'll do it today. Okay? If we get If it looks like it's gonna get lower than 33 for any just even an hour to have a sheet havoc, Frost blanket ready to drape over after the freezer Just on that one night. What's up. I got electric heater. I'll put out there because I want those plums this year, but it's It is a good plan for this area because it's it's more golden inside then, obviously, I'm sorry more golden on the outside, too, with the red, as opposed to like the darker plums, and it's a 250 chill our thing which we've had this year. So you should be good to go. Right. Thank you. Man.

My good friend longtime mentor and frequent golfing partner Paul to who is a friend of mine and worked for Obama. He's a great guy during the word spread throughout the group that there was a chance we might get an appearance from a certain bald Orangemen occasionally plays golf with Paul in the greater DC area and also happened to be in Pinehurst the same time as us. So when I saw my staggeringly early teatime of seven. And you quickly shook my hand and brushed me off of that. Even breaking stride masterful. Anyway, when I got to the practice range, and I saw Jay Bilas, Michael warming up. I did enough mental math to figure out the Paul and I were probably not also in your group, still I was in the group behind you to distinct highlights during my round I made an eagle on whole number five like Michael, I played college golf in the mid two thousand eagles the first, that's the first part, five on the course and it is long and it goes to the left and it is a tough green green side into in meeting. Quick bogey right. Yeah. It was Michael, I can attest that the very tough green hole. And I found a titlis Ogle full with the initials, t k printed on the side, while I was wondering, to one of the waste areas along the fairway. Sure. It has to be mine, but I don't recall having maybe she has this. I wasn't discussing my caddie was even more thrilled. Remarking Terry Kornheiser. Great guy, hate. Slow play Abedi quits after fourteen today. I'm not sure if he was correct prediction since you only left us in the dust by the time we made the turn, but I gave my caddie the golf balls a souvenir. We both enjoyed the experience and who has thrilled to meet you in person. Thanks for all the hours of entertainment. In fact, they start they start from one and then a couple of hours later, they start from fourteen as well. And we got to fourteen and we were slowed down. But we were not slowed down by any terrible mount. Because there were two twos in front of us and it worked out, and I had a lovely time, and I did get to see Paul twos. It was over your team or the draft was last night. All those things are true, but it's not what you really happy today. Yesterday was they today's pines day, they go to Pinehurst. First leg of the wingo Cup contest this summer. Saudi citing to get down there with pre sheet everyone's entries into all that obviously, it was a lot of fun. Getting to pick people were excited about this year's group winters, and get drunk on this year's group of this winners. Lot of millionaires made last night. A lot of teenagers and all that shit right there. A bit. Great way to put a lot of teenagers getting rich. And it's awesome. Like to watch this life changing moment. Big night for guys crying. I'm proud of them as a guy who cries a fair amount. That was an awesome to see these guys will especially because we listen, Ziya Williams that we knew it was gonna be the number one overall pick for about midway through the basketball season this year in college. And he knew that too, I'm sure it is hard heart, but to see the moment still hit him like that was awesome. Yeah. Can we can we forever? Get rid of the phrase crying, like a baby because I'm for the phrase crime, like a may. Yeah. Right. Let's cry like men. Whenever something gets you. I mean, kids writing goals down at twelve or I dreamed about this when I was four I mean guys are teenagers. They're talking about been working all my life for this, like, wait a minute. Hearing team nineteen years old. But this is what they've been doing. Yeah. Their lifespan during that life, your guy when I was four, I think, I wanna be a firefighter. I mean, it's these guys were a lot more set on their goals. At that point in time now picturing, you in a fire hat boots and the Cote holding the hose, and it's working exactly throw this out there. You know, the public before you had a bed wedding problems as your. I was I was, I was a cry and cry guy now oppose watering. It's all that one and go back and all of these guys having the motion, you it was for them to a lot of it seemed centered around, and I on this is especially true and for RJ obviously, it's a big moment for the kids in their parents. You saw I had that moment with his mom who we heard from retailer with coach all the way up until the time. He was fourteen RJ Barrett was up there with his dad, and obviously that got emotional for the two of them. And so you forget, it's a big culminating for all the families involved in this, too. Absolutely. So that the draft started as expected, the first three picks did go as expected and begun with Z day in New Orleans, you had Marty Smith out there in New Orleans, crowd surfing before the pick was made. Clearly, they were excited the pelicans and their fans were. And you mentioned how motions I got here is I n when the moment hit him, I mean..

"I have played Pinehurst and I I the boys and Girls Club every other year, one of the chapters, they have a fundraising tournament where you that they sell foursomes to donors that, then get to play the US, open course as it is set up for the open one month prior to the open and last year Shinnecock one of the years it was it was. Pinehurst at it changed. That's, that's how I got the play Bethpage, which is where the PG I need to turn that on. But what am I doing sitting here, the PGA championship? Anyway, it's, it's page black. That is a monster of a golf course. I mean these Bronx KEPCO at the end of the day yesterday was leading at minus seven simply because he hits the ball of mile. Then that courses is a monster. The most fun. Course. I don't. Golf, the most fun. You have is with the people you're playing with in his people at what's your favorite Gump. It's impossible name, a favorite golf course they're all unique that love cookie. Oh on the big island, Hawaii, I get maybe that's where I've had because some of the some of the most fun times, I've had been cookie. Oh on the big island of Hawaii. But you start naming golf courses. Like when people ask you what your favorites gar is? If you don't mention the mall, you end up. Angering some people. And, and so I. The hardest golf course I have ever ever played is. The Olympic club in San Francisco tied with Bethpage Black. Just the hardest off courses. But they're all hard, they're all hard to some. Like, if you're Ever Fortune enough to play Gusta. You don't care how hard it is. You just grateful that you're there, you know, get get to experience. In fact, the higher your score the better means.

"We got a ton to get to this morning, and we will get to all of it. We've got to go through what happened in the draft lottery. Last night. We gotta talk about game. One of what happened last night in the Western Conference finals what we expect to happen in game one of the Eastern Conference finals, and ladies and gentlemen, we got winners. We got the quote, Mike singles airy I want winners. I want people want to win and we are going to announce coming up in just a few moments. The people that one and are going with us to Pinehurst for the front nine of the front nine the front nine. It'd be three winners that will let you know who they are. And they'll each get to bring to people. And so we'll have a match up three of us three four out there. Like, we did lash your Pinehurst a great experience. So we look forward to announcing those. Winners we think everybody for their entries and know that you can do the same thing again for our back nine at whistling straights. Good chance, listen, if I were someone who wanted to go on the golf trip and doesn't get picked for Pinehurst knowing we've got the back nine knowing we've got the whistling straights trip. I'm going to look at these entries and say, what did they do right woman? A scout my copy on it. What did they do that was so good that got them picked and all this? And I'm going to see what I can do better replicate that in my entry in this. That's what I do if I was trying to come on this trip. If I may put this into a golf parlance, it's like having a guy behind you. And you get to see and read his putt, go to make your courses illegal the PGA tour caddies doing it. Right. Host to where we have no problem doing illegal things here now. Especially on the golf course. Exactly. Right. Let's put it this way the caveat strips. Our mistakes were made so get into all of that will have those coming up in just a few minutes..

"The other parts of the region because it's always easier to get into town coming from the south that it is either from the north or from the west. Anyway, here's goal with this. So because as you know, I'm obsessed with people who refused the turn their tail lights on. But there's times of low visibility that they're running only with their daytime running lights or even more stupid headlights on. But not tail light side. I've been talking about this forever and ever and ever it got me thinking about something rather than just constantly Steve over people are idiots and think that it's a good idea to drive with. Nobody can see you or even worse so stupid that they don't know that their tail lights are on which rather than rail about that for the ninety seven thousand time I thought about something. Say because I've talked about this you one of the things I don't know is how many people have changed their behavior because it be like, for instance, we say turn your lights on and make sure the lights are all the way. I'd over the years of going on about this have we actually gotten people who would not have turn their lights on to turn them on. And they know to do this or not here's my point. We don't know the answer. This is where I'm going with this. So never mind all of that from of it. This is the brilliance of companies like Google, Amazon and other companies that operate primarily online. They have something that the entire world wishes that it has. And that is information. Let me make a point. Let's imagine I was just in my own mind, deciding grab a place that I've never been that people. Tell me is really great the Pinehurst North Carolina area scoping area. And so on have never been there. In fact, I don't think I've ever been in North Carolina in my life. I'd have to think about that. But. I mean passing through an airport. Well, airports don't count as I've said I've connected. I believe in Charlotte. So that doesn't code other than that. I don't think of North Carolina in my life. But a lot of people really really liked Pinehurst just as a lot of people like the Charleston area of South Carolina. This is an example. So let's oppose it by mind. I was thinking about gee, maybe I'd like to go on vacation Pinehurst or something prior to the internet. If that thing is that my mind, and I'm thinking about it. Not one business in Pinehurst North Carolina or any of the hotels resorts or any of the businesses or anybody like that. But if no way of knowing that was in my mind now, if I'm thinking of going there, what am I doing? I'm googling. I'm googling the resorts googling. The Gulf courses have probably checking flight schedules. I'm saying what other things they're out to do. You know, I'm looking at Google maps to see how close that area is to say Charlotte at all of that stuff. And every time I do that every one of those companies those I'm looking into it, and I'll get all sorts of ads on my computer from everyone of the places in Pinehurst third year by that have gone to Google notes that I've been looking into his Google has that information out there. And it's part of the file of information digitized, that's then sold and marketed to other companies. In other words, Google has is knowledge it has knowledge that in the past would not have existed. So I'm thinking about I really don't know how many people have turned their lights on over the years because of me because I'm just doing something on the radio. And it's not like people report their activity to me, these companies that are online actually have a report and have knowledge, and they know. What people are doing with their behavior. Thus the value of the company's. Why is Google worth the incredible valuation that it is? And as I mentioned yesterday, the stike actually turned down a bit. Yesterday because for once they didn't hit the revenue projections, but why does it have the incredible valuation that it has it has that because they've come up with the greatest advertising scheme of all time. They are able to sell advertisers information in which the advertiser knows who is interested in their product. Now, we've tried that in radio, forever and TV stations. Do it for example, if you watch sporting event on TV there's gonna be a lot of beer commercials. Why? You know, marketing beard sports fans is kind of aiming at your target audience on a station like ours, but we have a more broad based audience. It's not as easy, which is why you hear the wide variety of commercials that you hear on the program, but still advertisers who buy our station are looking for a certain type of audience member. And there are certain types of. People who you think would make up a segment of the audience that might be valuable to. And advertiser. It's not as easy an example as well. We've got a hip hop station here. Obviously, there are some companies that advertise that would be that they would see that as their target market, and they would be willing to buy advertising on that station. But it's not like, they know which of the people listening to that station are then going to go out and buy their product wherever bought the product or in the market for it companies on the internet, and I would say, especially. I'll say the big three Google Facebook at Amazon they have done a better job that anybody in knowing precisely. What individual people want to do? And what they're interested in and affects their ability to go out and then sell advertising in which they can give the advertiser exactly the audience and client that they want without much wastage, Amazon's thing is actually brilliant. You're actually shopping around and look at material that's out there at Amazon now knows all the things even if you didn't buy it. What you browse? What you say? Well, it's through Facebook also those it'd be the big three though in terms of having this knowledge base Paul wonders about apple apple has their held the different standards on secrecy. They aren't allowed to for example, totally comply all the stuff that's being done on their phones. But the apps are able to do it these apps often make money because they know exactly what you're doing. When you're either on the app and oftentimes in your office, some of these apps that are out there that are owned by the phone by apple itself your phone provider. They're still tracking you even when you're not using the app unless you opt out and don't allow that to occur. So the information revolution that we've seen here that some people say has tremendous privacy implications. Those implications have already occurred, but the advantage. That these companies all have is they know things that in the past. Nobody had the ability to know it here in radio. We don't know. I actually don't know. If you go on the iheart apple there or not the company knows exactly who you are not. I don't know that I don't know one way or another. But I certainly know that if you just turn your radio on we don't oh that because the radio doesn't send anything back. I mean digital radio. I don't mean the online stream or anything the traditional radio doesn't said back, and unless you have a box hooked up with regard to your television. They don't know that either. Now, the cable companies know who's watching their shows and direct TV, which is a satellite company or dish. The other one they know for example, how many consumers are going over to HBO that are on their system because they're moving their thing off in that direction. But the traditional TV with the head of that wasn't hooked up into anything unless you had a ratings boxer something, you didn't know the answer to that lake wise, let's suppose somebody takes out at ad in the newspaper. The company has no knowledge of how many people even read their ad. What was the ad? We just talked about. It was in the paper that nobody seemed to notice it has something to do with sports. Is a full page ad on something and everybody said, I didn't even see it. It was something. Oh, it was James harden was Tana goddess James harden the basketball player for Houston the night that the Houston was in town in Milwaukee to play the bucks ran a full page ad essentially toting himself for most valuable player. Obviously, it was James Harden's people that did it and put in there. They did it for a purpose. They did it to draw attention to create a buzz to get under yada skin at cetera et cetera et cetera. At the thing that they don't always how many people actually saw the ad base. That anecdotal information. I know people who get the newspaper who go all the way through the atmos- that big catchier, do whatever it is. That makes people notice an ad so many people said, I didn't see it. I didn't see it. I didn't see it didn't see it in. This includes people who actually read the paper at are into sports. So that's one of the issues of the guy to do spare advertising. You could run an ad in the newspaper, and you may be able to see how many people come into your store what the increase in sales is the next day or whatever. But what you don't know how many people get the newspaper actually read your ad. How would you know? Who read the ad and didn't react to it. And hope it even notice it at all how would you know that because the newspaper isn't interactive. Now, the online newspaper if you click on the ad well that tells you something if they just pop up over there though, and you don't do actually anything with it the advertiser doesn't know whether or not you read the pop up or simply verdict your eyes to something else. I think they actually do know when you hit the little close button. And I think I read somewhere that actually puts a cookie and your computer when you do that. Yeah. Would you say we do you made? I heard on the app Paul points that we can they call a geo marketing, for instance, if you're listening to the iheart app, and you live on the north shore north shore business can advertise only on that portion their thing would not be heard by somebody who's listening in receipt or do Moines Iowa, we can do that. But you know, on the actual radio broadcast is opposed to the stream the ad. That's run. Here is heard by everybody. This actually picking us up on the radio. So those are all these advantages that these companies have and the the trade off is that people are sacrificing in all of their privacy because everybody knows what they're doing which really blows me away. When it comes to some of the stuff that people are doing that are inappropriate. Pulses? He doesn't think they care. I mean. Yeah..

"Terry rozier. On that one or bought that? Well last year, I don't know that guy you're playing against in a seven game that was an indirect response. We don't know did, you know rose year when he so easily said Drew Bledsoe. Did he have a slip of the tongue or did? He mean that. Yeah, we do that all the time on this show be right in time. So maybe it's just an honest mistake. And all of a sudden now you're getting clap back at it's just play basketball. So great guys. Yes. It take no mistake. These teams do not like each other. No, they don't. And then there's this story in the NBA that will deserve being monitored going forward new Sacramento Kings. Coach Luke Walton has been accused a civil lawsuit of sexual assault. The lawsuit alleges that Kelly tenant of former host on spectrum sports net. LA the Lakers regional sports network received an unwanted physical advanced by Walton at Santa Monica hotel room before Walton. Yeah was named the Lakers coach in April of twenty sixteen. So how? It reads again, that's the suit alleges that tenant who had a working relationship with Walton stemming from his time as a guest analyst on spectrum met with him at the at a hotel to drop off her book for which he provided the forward for her book when he was in town on a road trip as an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors. According to legal documents, Walton allegedly invited ten to his room. So they wouldn't be seen together by any warrior players, then allegedly pin tended to the hotel bed and forcibly kissed and groped her. The suit alleges also that in may two thousand seventeen sometime after the hotel incident Walton forced and aggressive hug and made a lewd remark about tennis outfit at a charity. A charity event the two attended. And of course, from Walton side, they're saying this is all baseless nothing to it. But obviously there's going to be an investigation. The warriors said they knew about this is team coaching now Sacramento says they're aware of it. And they're you know had their investigation as the NBA. Does the Laker said they had no clue about any of this in his time as head coach of the lake we should clarify. The warriors said that they are aware of the alleged incident getting information they were aware at the time. Right. You're right. They are aware of it. Now, the Lakers were not aware of it. When he was with them. Everyone seems to be in that mode of gathering information about this still. So it's one of those it's best left to watch. Now. How it plays out and what they do proceeding forward. Correct. We'll see how the NBA chooses to handle this. And again, we should point out. This is a civil lawsuit. Right. No charges have been filed at this time. Okay. Golick and wingo here with you. Again. We got a lot to get to including Donovan McNabb ruffling some feathers in the eagles nest for team that he spent a lot of years with a team he went to the Super Bowl with. And there are some some issues to the there. But before we get to that. Ladies and gentlemen. We cares about you guys. So we're giving you a chance to come with us to Pinehurst resort this summer to play in the front nine of what we're affectionately calling the wingo Cup front nine because there's. And we'll we'll get to that. We're going to focus on the front nine because the focus at Pinehurst, and what you're going to be able to do with us is fantastic. Oh does absolutely fantastic. There's going to be three winners. And again, the three winters can bring two guests. So that will make a force them. Once we are added to each of those groups, and what you're getting airfare hotel Dacian accommodations meals, everything and they'll tell you're staying at the store. Carolina hotel is fabulous Friday evening. We're gonna play the cradle which is short course, which is just fantastic. And have a welcome party as well. We'll get up Saturday and we're gonna play Pinehurst number two Saturday night. We have a reception and beer tasting where the Pinehurst brewing comedy has made a special. Golick and wingo beer, so we will have a couple of those. Yes. And then on Sunday if you choose to and then on Sunday morning, we continue to golf on the newly designed Pinehurst number four, by golf magazine as the best new course you can play. So lot of golf at an iconic golf course. Couple golf courses. Beautiful accommodations and a couple of more days. Do what you gotta do to win today. Tomorrow. These are your last few that's in and you want to be a part of this Pinehurst unbelievable care last year. They were great Dell small business is helping us out this year with this that we are certainly very appreciative of them. The wingo Cup is brought to you by Dell. Small business off us. Listen to win the wingo Cup. Contest is presented by Dell. Small business tech advice partnership is ESPN radio dot com for the official rules. I'm also going to tell you the official doing. Do you can win. So we want you to tell us your best or worst golf that. We want you to tell us that story on Twitter. Now, how can you do that? Well, you can write it out a tweet you can use a picture you can make video it's a video make it thirty seconds. We don't want anything along than that gotta make a pot make it petty. Make it funny. Make it originally we want all of those things you've got to grab our attention. That is your job in all of this. Yes lunch. You have made interesting content about your golf bet. You got to tweet at us. You got a tweet at golick and wingo. Our Twitter handle and you have to use. The hashtag wingo Cup contests Pacific, only by doing those two things are you eligible to enter you only have one entry, and you only got two days left to do it. So clock is ticking. You little bit center urgency, but tweeted at Golic and wingo. Hashtag wingo Cup contest. And again, those videos should only be about third. Second thirty second had some movies last year. Great. But in the the essence of trying to get through all the entries which have been plentiful, and we need to keep them to. A little bit shorter. But petty is good. And I've seen some of them. They're they're really looking forward to this going to be an absolute ball trip is going to be so much fun Pinehurst once again stepped up big time, and so has Dell small business so we thank both of them for making this a reality. You guys are going to have a blast. The opposite of having a blast is what's that? Don. Mcnabb dealing with the Philadelphia Eagles. Don, McNabb of course. Played quarterback for the eagles. For many many years was the quarterback that took them to Super Bowl thirty nine that they lost in the patriots twenty four twenty one so Saturday with CBS sports radio McNab said essentially that have Carson Wentz doesn't go deep into the playoffs next. Couple years Beagles may wanna rethink their quarterback position quote. I think in the next two to three years two years or so he meeting once has to find a way to get out of the second round of the playoffs. What Nick foles was able to take them to a Super Bowl than possibly take them back to the NFC champ game proves that. Hey, some people can get into that offense and be very successful. Whence hasn't been healthy. He hasn't really proven to me. Besides the year before he got hurt when he was really really an MVP candidate. He needs to get back to that moment. So there's a lot to get in there. Because before he was hurt. Carson Wentz was going to be the MVP of twenty seventeen. So that sort of changes the dynamic of what's going on incredibly. And then when he says the second round of the playoffs my question. What does that mean does that mean you start in the wildcard round divisional round is the second round or do you get the buy? Alive. I don't have a big problem with what he said, what's the problem with what he said, I get Carson Wentz wasn't MVP candidate that workout. What happened? He got hurt. And what happened the next year he got her and who do the other quarterback takeover took him to the Super Bowl and NFC championship game. Well, he actually gave one game short one game short of that. I mean, Donald is basically saying, and we put a lot on the quarterback right of saying, you know, way to this. When this I do get that. But he's played three years. He's been hurt for a couple of them. And if you give them a couple of more years that's his first rookie contract of five years as a first rounder. And if they don't go deeper into the playoffs. I mean, he didn't rip Carson Wentz by saying awful quarterback did not of lane Johnson. Who by the way has been known to spout. All. Teammate. I responded on Twitter saying Don McNabb, and you wonder why nobody respects view when you come back a lot of snakes. And I'll be honest. I couldn't figure out what I will say. I completely understand a teammate sticking up for another teammate. But lay John goes on to say, this is what I meant every training camp. We have all these ex players come and shake our hands, wishing good luck. Then they go out. And they just hate on us. If hating out you lane is giving a critical analysis. I'm sorry. But that's what happens you want to your teammate. That's fine. But I mean when you get into this business, and that's something. I know I know overcome early in this because I would go out on the road. And I would hear it from the former players when I just left the league. All man, you're going to that businesses. You star crucified enough. I'm like, wait a minute. Tell me where I'm wrong, and I'm gonna make sure I'm right when I'm breaking down film of if I'm being critical or not I really don't. I don't think. Donovan McNabb was that over the top. Top on this aisle completely say again teammates stick up for teammate. But but when lane goes with all these guys, shake our hands and wishes. Good luck. I would wish all my former players. Good luck as well. But if I think in analyzing them that something is wrong. I'm also going to say that you don't just sit there. If you're in this business I used to play for that team. God, they're going go sixteen to know. And never lose. It doesn't work that way. So I really didn't have a problem with with Donovan McNabb had to say. And oftentimes when it's your former team in one that I'd imagine still means a lot down McNabb. Yeah. Listen to someone who grew up in eagles fan when I was a kid. Donovan McNabb was the face of my phantom in that time. He was the face of the eagles in the most successful run they'd had until this most recent season. And so you are always a little more critical of the things you love and know, the most I'm sure in some regards. So I don't know if there's more to this. If maybe there were interactions that we seen Jack led to this feeling that there's more to this. When I'm reading here, exactly lane Johnson hints that you know, we have these interactions with guys all the time. And maybe you hear Donovan saying more to the local media though based off this. I'd imagine we hear about. How? So that's the one thing. It's kind of like the beef with the report is you never know how deep it goes necessarily. But on the surface here. This looks like relatively benign criticism. It really does. I mean, how many former players are in this business. Now, we have former teams were I'm sure they wish a lot of luck with those teams and players they played with. But you gotta be critical. Sometimes you're now saying Clark does on our all the. Exactly, right. It's. Would have been a better perspective for Donald to frame as argument if he just said, look, here's my bigger concern with Carson Wentz when he's healthy. He's right. But so far he hasn't proven that he can stay healthy. And that's my biggest concern. I think if he had framed it in that context a lot of people he came out with follow up for those. You misread didn't understand. We're confused or just didn't like let me clarify for you. I have no beef riff or ill will towards Carson Wentz and the eagles. My comments are based off experience and understanding of how the business of football works. You're constantly evaluated. Every day every game. And if you're reliable or unhealthy enough to play I know at times as players in his fans, it can be confusing to move on from beloved player due to the business of health and trust tough decisions are usually made. Maybe people just didn't like it. Because it's coming from me. Or I answered a question from one of the talents on radio the way, you didn't agree with if that's how you feel. I'm sorry. You feel that way? It's the nature of the game. And that part of it is accurate them. Biggest ability and football availabil- availability. Exactly. Right for the last two years that has been. A problem. It has been a problem and another quarterback has helped take this team to heights that. Carson hasn't been there been able to do Joel no one..

"The MVP discussion. Russell Westbrook again with another year of triple doubles could they be that team that could compete and here they are down. Three weren't looking to get go lose four one in the series out in the for, you know, in the last couple of postseason, so even with Paul George staying, and they haven't all the deal around the one columnist. Russell Westbrook has a problem with the keeps saying no question too. So it's not not great there right now. I think the thought was going to be a little more competitiveness and not happening. We know the first couple of games they were shooting at a level that we haven't seen as I point. Yeah. Horrifically from three point. So that became part of the issue here last night Portland goes out and the third quarter Damian lured fact happened again last night, we're the bulk of his production came in that quarter. They pulled away Portland snapped their eight-game playoff road losing streak. Now, the longest. Playoff road losing streak belongs to the Oklahoma City thunder. The longest streak is the Oklahoma City. Thunder eleven game road playoff losing streak. They were second behind them before the thunder stand a top of the heap. So this is an issue for them and their style of play while it's exciting wall continues to draw for them seems to not be translated this time of year right now. No, it does not it will get to some other issues that Russell Westbrook in the Oklahoma City thunder are dealing with in just a moment. But ladies and gentlemen, it is time once again. We're giving you the chance to come play one of the greatest resorts in the history of these United States Pinehurst resort as part of the front nine of the wingo Cup again side note. If there's a frontline by definition must be a back nine, hey now, we'll get into that later. Let's focus in on the front nine. Here's what we're doing for you. We're gonna pick three winners and each one of you gets to pick two buddies that you bring with you. And that's your debt sport. You gotta deal with you deal with that. We're not doing any part of that. But here's what you're playing for you get to Pinehurst. We'll take care of everything meals. Accommodations and airfare Friday that we're going to get there and play the cradle their short-course their par. Three nine hole course. Which is fantastic. Yeah. Yeah. Was your best part of the trip? Lost drinking course. Yes. It is. Unkown baby get to the pinecone quickly. You as often as you can. And then Saturday morning, we're gonna play Pinehurst number two. Yes. We of course is where they've had US Open's. Yes. They have where last year I made an eagle you did. And I'll be using a golf cart. Yeah. Both of those things bothered me because I thought that was for birdie. I played right behind you. I made the almost the exact same putt for birdie was Fernie flippity, flip jibbidy. So then Saturday net we're going to microbrewery junior that Pinehurst has which you're gonna be a lot of fun Pinehurst brewing company and then shout out their master brewer. There's actually going to brew a beer specifically for us for the show for the trip than we're having people help name right now very excited about that. Well in it prompted my dad to try and create a word out of thin air a lot a lot of it has to do with nudity, which is just nudity pronounced, Ron. What does that word where the urban dictionary? See this boy visit count. No, why doesn't a cow. You cannot celebrate a victory. Just because your mate upward has been co-signed. My one of the person who got this entered into urban dictionary. I don't understand nudity. Listen, I enjoy urban dictionary. As much of the NASDAQ next. I think it has a ton of value in the modern world to explain things, especially given the nature of the show. I have to do a lot of explaining urban dictionary has. Helped lot that being said you cannot claim victory in your made up word just because somewhere in dictionary nudity. It actually uses it and sentences as well. Wrong word in a sense. Not make it the right word. More importantly, they'll let's talk about the words used after the playoff game between the blazers use nudity did not they use a very common refrain though, pre and post game, obviously for those of knowing for a long time. Russell Westbrook has a beef with one writer for Oklahoma. Right. One beat writer. It goes back to twenty fifteen twenty seventeen. He's had a running beef with this one writer for Jammu rights for the Oklahoma. And he's a columnist. It goes back to two thousand seventeen. When Trump Trammell after a contentious exchange now you can contentious. This was Trammell asked Stephen Adams. Why the team struggled in this series against the jazz? One Westbrook went to the bench since then every time Trammell asked him a question Westbrook. Does the next question big? So that's the where the Genesis. And this was one of the pre-game press conferences, I think where Russell was having none of answering any of that gentleman's questions, very Trammell, the Oklahoma. And Russell the first half. Both teams struggled offensively is sort of a slug of the game. Both teams got going in the second half. What happened that sort of reversed the reverse the the tone of this game question? Yeah. The the fourth quarter Vick. You got a fifteen point lead. They catch up one happened. The last six seven eight minutes that reversed the momentum. You guys burst back away. "It. It is simply known around these parts as the wingo Cup. And we are ready to take everybody back to Pinehurst for the beginning of we can't give anything else away for the beginning of what is going to be an awesome summer of golf. It's gonna be great stuff. So you are going to get a chance to come back down to Pinehurst resort. You're gonna premium accommodations the historic Carolina hotel. You're going to get to the cradle. Which is their short course on Friday evening. You're going to get golf Pinehurst number two on Saturday all eighteen holes of that Saturday night. And I know dad you're going to be excited about this one Pinehurst got a new microbrewery we clearly made a lasting effect last year. So the Pinehurst brewing company is going to host us for a beer tasting and dinner their dad, that's to be your favorite part of what's coming up in this, right? You know what? It sounds great. And you're talking about it when I think too hard about it after Saturday night here kinda makes me, you know, I did see a picture of trae holding pug from years and years ago at this this Saturday. But let me tell you what biker burry food, and golf it doesn't get much better than that. Since Sunday you finish it off. Then and you go the newly redesigned Pinehurst number four, which we have heard trae raving about listen planners, number four was a great track before, but the redesign it's very much done in the in the look upholders number two. It is fantastic. So we've got pines number two on Saturday. We've got a microbrewery we've got the cradle Friday night. We've got pines number four on Sunday. Plus all the combinations. The airfare everything is on us. We are fighting three winters, but we're not just inviting three winners junior. We're inviting three winters and they each get to bring two friends two friends. So again, we have three people with us. So we need three four sons. So do that we're picking three winters each winner gets to bring two guests. Now how you do. This is vital. I cannot stress this enough being I does not matter in this. We don't need you to. Get this in quick we need you to take the time and think about this. Because what we're looking for is we want to hear from you about your best and worst golf pets. We want you to tell that story. And we need you tell it to us on social media. It can be a tweet. It can be a picture it could be video. But you've gotta enter it on Twitter. And you've got a tweet tagging our show handle at golick and window and using the hashtag wingo Cup contests. So again at Golic and wingo. Hashtag wingo Cup contest in the tweet with your submission. And it's got to be creative. And original. We want pettiness this petty show reward that golf bets are supposed to be petty in their nature, and we wanted to be funny, entertaining, and we're already doing a great job. But take your time. Make it great and make it funny. Because if you want to catch the attention of my dad, Trey and I you've got to be funny. It's gotta stand out. Right jas. You only get one entry per prevent this is very important here. So get it. Right. Don't get fast. Get it. Right. And I'm working on my entry already. I feel good about it. I think we have some good news that we make. Share with you. I feel pretty good about telling you that. I don't give it away yet, by the way shut up to the squad at Dell small business for helping us make this happen to. Yeah. This whole wingo cut brought to you by Dell small business so very excited for that. Dan. Anyone mice words of encouragement for the people that are getting ready to enter into this contest. You know, I it as as Trey knows because we've been talking about a while. I'm starting to get more and more to call and I had such a great time ahead my eagle last year at Pinehurst. You did pretty pretty excited about that. And the the amazing thing it's great golf on a great course. But the way that our group is is treating these winners and the people said in this up and the arrangements where everybody is so first class into thank the Dell. Small business in pine her for what they're doing in making this such a great contest for the winters out there and the time they're gonna have that to me is one of the most impressive things going there. We're going to great iconic places, but you get treated like kings and queens along the way, and I do think this time around I know, I will how many of all the winters and all of us are going to be wearing mock turtleneck and chewing gum while we can't wait. Yeah. I need to find some of that hook begun gum that both fill in your masters. I could really use that again. Most importantly, most importantly, you've got a tag at Golic and wingo handle and use the hashtag wingo Cup contests. So get those entries in make them. Great. I may go out there and hit him straight. All right guys on God knows one day a day off the deck. There you go. Mike Golic with us. And again, the cradle everything is just great. The the folks at Pinehurst of stepped up big time kudos to our staff. Devon and Megan for putting this thing together and again Dell small business has done an absolutely phenomenal job. Get those injuries in. But take the time and make them worth the wait. You only get one shot at this coming up. Look Mike talked about it yesterday. He was glued to a cell phone while playing sporting event, we can get away with that somebody else can't and they're paying a price for it..

But we appreciate your passion. And just wanted to ask you, how do you feel personally today now as an average citizen, but is someone whose patriotism was very publicly called into question for saying you hoped Obama would fail. But now today you see those same people publicly lamenting the news that our president did not collude with Russia. It's amazing. Isn't it? If you smoke take it outside don't pass gas. For Georgia Farmer, The Trade Tariffs Are Personal

"Support for this podcast and the following message. Come from Comcast business having the nation's largest gig speed network was just the start. Now, they're providing gig fueled apps and solutions that exceed expectations and help businesses perform Comcast business beyond fast, the ongoing trade dispute between the US and China is clearly having an economic economic impact on both countries. But tariffs can also affect people on an individual level. Nowhere is that more apparent than in America's agricultural communities. Stacey van expense and Cardiff Garcia hosts of the podcast, the indicator from planet. Money spoke with one farmer whose livelihood is now on the frontlines of a trade war, David Reid farms, more than two thousand acres of peanuts and cotton here in Pinehurst, Georgia and his crop started coming in last year. He says it was glorious. Oh, yeah. We had this crop. We ever had in a few years. And then starting over the summer a couple of things happened. I a trade war broke out the US impose tariffs on Chinese goods and China retaliated with import taxes of its own among the US goods, it China started taxing were peanut butter and cotton, basically, everything they grow in this part of Georgia. Then a couple of months later this happened. Hi there. I'm Brooke Baldwin live here in Destin, Florida where we are covering the official landfall of hurricane Michael feel Ross. Sorry. I walked any. Any? Category with in prisons ethic. David lost about a third of his cotton crop and a couple of fields of peanuts to the peanuts grand there. That's what was last left after the storm peanuts grow underground like potatoes. And this field has peanuts all over the dirt. David picked a couple of. But they were rotten from all the water from the storm show was kind of soft Tim apart in his hands. See that was a good peanut when it came to just some we didn't get picked at the storm. He the peanuts and cotton that did survive walk straight out of a storm and into a trade war, China's peanut butter and cotton orders from the US collapsed overnight and the price that David was getting for his peanuts and cotton both fell by about thirty percent. And what had been shaping up to be one of the best years in David's entire farming career turned into one of the worst years Pete ever seen. You know, we we planned to make a lot of money this year, but lower see it. But hopefully, we don't break even break. Even and David says, he is one of the lucky ones, there's some foam foams just worried, you know, I've heard him help in say, I don't know if I most of I've this or not, you know, it's heartbreaking David says that the economic effects of the storm and the tariffs haven't just hit the farmers. They've hit the whole area is hurting a whole community and equipment dealer in the guy down. Treat the hardware store in everybody suffers in spite of everything though, David actually supports the terrace at that. Well, that's not good for the former now. But I think it's the right thing to do, you know, and I think President Trump doesn't right? Thank in mafia union. I think he did a good thing. David thinks the macro economic issues between the US and China are important enough that the sacrifice feels worth it to him. Now, the government is providing millions of dollars in aid to cotton farmers and supplementing a lot of the peanut losses. It doesn't make up for everything doesn't make up for all the losses. But David says he is not going to switch to another crop. Neither is anybody. He knows they're going to continue growing cotton. And peanuts just like always. Why is that is Sydney blood? You know, what they've always done. Stacey Vanik Smith Cardiff Garcia NPR news.
