Media Surprised by Tesla Registrations Despite Shutdown
"Everybody robbing our here today we were talking about a number of different reports on tests registrations in the united. States in the month of April and May tussle stock, despite some of these reports finished the day up one percent to nine hundred ninety one dollars, seventy nine cents that compared to the Nasdaq up zero point two percent all right so as much as I would love to skip this topic because I think a lot of us know where this is. Is Heading. Most of the Tesla headlines today are related to a Wall Street Journal article published this morning titled Quote Tessa Registrations Plunge in California data tracker, says and quote, then leading off the article with quote, registrations of newly purchased Tesla vehicles plunged critical California market over the past two months according to new data underlining the challenge chief executive Elon, Musk faces to keep investor enthusiasm that has helped propel the company's share price and quote the Wall Street Journal Journal cites data from Dominion Enterprises which apparently tracks registrations in twenty four states that make up about sixty five percents of the US market, and in those twenty four states they say that Tesla registrations declined thirty three percent to fourteen, thousand, one, hundred and fifty one vehicles during the first two months off cue to the media, then seemed to go full, shocked Pika Chew Mon and read a whole bunch of articles about this highlighting Tesla's quote, unquote plunging registrations so. So I thought had a little bit of fun with that with the today. Apologies for that, but the point here is that this should not be surprising at all. People seem to have forgotten that Tesla. Had Their factory shut down for seven weeks from late March to early May as we know. Tesla is somewhat unique in that their registration or sales, information correlates strongly to their production rather than simply being an indication of demand like we might see from. Cars we can easily see this in the inventory numbers. If we look at Tesla, they had twenty days of inventory at the end of Q. on of March that comes right from their shareholder letter, and if we look at a company like Ford, for example, they said that at the march they had one hundred days of inventory so twenty days of inventory doesn't get. Get you too far when you're factories, shut down for fifty days compared to if you had one hundred days of inventory in stock like four does according to Cox Automotive, many brands actually had more than one hundred days of inventory at the end of March including Honda, jeep, Cadillac, an Acura and many others, and then even on the low end. They have KIA as. As the lowest brand at forty three days, so Tesla's inventory is about twenty to twenty five percent of the average and half of that of the lowest other brand in the US. The other important consideration here when we look at April and May specifically for the United States is that because Tesla restarted production in early, may that only gave them a couple or A. A few weeks to be able to produce vehicles ship them over to Europe and have them delivered within Q. Two, so with that being the case, obviously a very small amount of vehicles produced in May are going to actually be allocated for the North American market, so yeah plenty of reasons for us to expect registrations to have been down year over year in April. April and May in the US definitely not shocked Pichu type of situation, even with all that being the case in the same article, The Wall Street Journal says that Dominion Research says that the industry fell forty three percent in April and may remember. They have tussled down thirty three percent, so even without much inventory, Tesla is still outperforming the broader industry. You actually interpret. Interpret this as relatively bullish report. The other thing that I want to talk about briefly is the actual number here. So they said that registrations were fourteen thousand, or so in the first two months of the quarter and remember that's four states that make up about sixty five percents of the total US auto market. Tesla probably penetrates a little bit higher in those markets. Markets, because it does include California, so if we assume that that's about seventy five percent, then that can point to a number of about eighteen thousand five hundred vehicles registered in the United States in April, and met now I'm not putting much weight into these numbers, but that number does seem extremely reasonable. We know that Tesla began the quarter with about thirty thousand vehicles. Vehicles in inventory, so if we assume about half of that inventory, or about fifteen thousand vehicles were in the United States at the end of March then for us to have eighteen thousand vehicles registered in the US in April, and may sounds like a pretty reasonable number, if tussle were to sell off some of that inventory mentor, and then we add in deliveries from. That are probably not entirely allocated for Europe as well as Mata. Why if anything I see this report? As a low weight indicator that things are roughly on track. One less thing. I wanted to point out on this. The street did run article separate from my page on this topic and I didn't really love the headline. They reach out me, gave me the opportunity to add some context, and then actually included all of my comments in the article on this

Greninja Voted Most Popular Pokemon by Players
"Pokemon community had a vote on the most popular POKEMON. And I gotTa tell you. I was Kinda surprised. That Gra Ninja is the most popular POKEMON. Right now out there in the Pokemon community your thoughts on Gr- Ninja getting the top spot and other pokemon Cario Mimic. You Charles ARD umbrella there. The top five but Pika chewed the most recognizable of the mall is barely even the top twenty and Evey is just barely twenty there so I asked him a friend. What's going on with people's changes in taste in what they love about. Pok Mon I duNNo. I feel like the older generation of Pokemon fans have kind of fallen off the wagon such as you and I and a newer generation of pokemon fans is there and the ones that are from older games. That are recognizable are only because they still take up so much spotlight in the newer games. Too like for example the POKEMON. Let's go e V pokemon. Let's go peek. At you like you could fly your charter around right like you still got those Pokemon and they were still fun to play with and you needed to use them to get to certain parts of the map like they still take up centerfold in the newer pokemon games and I think that's what keeps them alive especially like Ginga gingas. Always in the cartoons. He's in the movies. He's got a bunch of plush toys of gang are everywhere you go? And it's it's they've done a good job of marketing. They market the POKEMON that they want to be front and center right the and you know they. They have a certain set. So we're not gonNA see like a d glit- or something you know making that top list were just gonNa see the ones that pokemon decides to focus on in the new
Live From The HIBT Summit: Stewart Butterfield
"Hey everyone so today. We've got another one of my conversations from the how I built this summit. That happened in San Francisco last October. And you don't in the world of startups. Most difficult moves to pull off is a pivot to maneuver out of your first idea into something that might have more potential and Stewart Butterfield. He pulled this off not once but twice about seventy years ago. Out of the ashes of failed video game. Stewart launched slack an office collaboration tool that now has twelve million daily users but before slack back in two thousand four Stewart was struggling to get traction Shen with another video game called game never ending. He wound up shedding that one down too but out of that failure he was able to launch a photo sharing site called liquor which he sold just a year later for around twenty million dollars so when I sat down with Stewart onstage. I asked him about both of those pivots. Starting starting with the first one from game. Never ending to flicker there was a point and you talked about this in the podcast where you had to decide whether to drop all this work on this computer game like more than a year. I think two years of work on this game and pivot to the photo sharing site and there was a debate in internal debate. I wonder how did you know that that was the right thing to do. Because our instinct would tell us to push forward Gordon to keep going right like. That's what we think we're supposed to do to just carry on and March forward. Yeah there's a lot of advice that's just persevere grit grit resilience gotta keep going in the face of adversity over and over but there is definitely a point where you either you know. It can't work or kind of like the reverse verse manifesting of I don't believe anymore this could work. which makes it very unlikely? If if the person leading the project doesn't believe it can work. It's it will be a weird fluke for it actually to work out but we were just out of money and it would have been much more difficult complex project. Complete Games would have taken us a minimum of another year but probably realistic closer to two more years. And we didn't have that kind of time. Whereas flicker we figured we can get version of this out in A couple of months and it actually was. I don't remember the exact dates anymore but some time in December two thousand and two that we decided to do it and early February two thousand three launched. So you guys ended up selling flicker to Yahoo and you described yourself as briefly Internet famous. You you actually were on the cover of Newsweek magazine with with some of the people at one point which. I'm assuming Gotcha some attention to allow you to kind of think about the next project kicked you decide to go back and start another company. That was going to be a computer game called glitch. What was driving you then I I mean did you think okay? Now I've failed failed the first time now. I know how to do it right. We can talk about the reasons that we used to convince ourselves that it would work this time. There was actually a lot of realistic realistic stuff. There the cost of hardware so servers in the background had fallen by at least ninety percent and bunch of things change by a factor of ten the number of people online line change by a factor of ten the availability of great open source software tools but stepping back when I got in line in Nineteen Ninety two and I grew up in Victoria British Columbia. which is a pretty small town actually provincial? It's on the edge of the continent and then it's on an island so it feels very remote and cut off from the rest of the world world to kind of an an observer and when I got to college I got an account on the school's unique machine and that meant I had access to the Internet and this is maybe six or nine months before the web really started to take off so the Internet at that time was a thing called newsgroup which is hierarchical directory of kind. Hi discussion boards for more or less everything in the world's hugely popular in the scientific community and academic communities but also recreational in fact kind of mind blowing looming but wreck dot music dot g dead. The grateful dead Newsgroup was the most popular thing on the entire Internet is like in terms of traffic it was the net flicks of its day. Just like the text postings going back and forth and I just really remember that as being one of the most revelatory mind-blowing experiences in my life that even though we were on the edge of the world at felt like and kind of really outside of everything that was really happening. I can connect anyone and that kind of the possibilities for computer technology to facilitate human interaction to me are endlessly fascinating and I think when we you look back. Tens of thousands of years to this time it will seem as significant as the development of written language because it just allows this accretive knowledge allows allows the accessibility allows US instant communication coordination between people. And we're still like one percent of the way into exploring the possibilities. So I mean with with glitch right. This is a beautiful game. Raise money around it. You had great developers. You convince people to move across the country work on this what happened. It just didn't so in this case we had the money in fact acme of money leftover when we decided to shut it down but it was apparent that it wouldn't work and I think this is a if there's one thing that's an actual like practical lesson for entrepreneurs in in all of this history besides the sometimes pivots work it's It's hard if it's really really hard to explain your at an enormous disadvantage wjr. And so what does the way games are marketed. Generally as there's kind of two by two Matrix and in one access it's the kind of veneer. Looks like the World War. Two or post apocalyptic sci fi or it looks like Bennigan's and dragons or it looks like Pika chew or something like that like cutesy cartoon. There's that the flavor of it and then there's the the the mechanics of the game first person shooter real time strategy and puzzle games and stuff like that and games are marketed is. It's like their position on this grid so it's a World War Two first person shooter. Game an instantly people can see like at least I understand what that is and maybe I'm interested in. Maybe I'm not. We tried to sell the world a massively multiplayer game with no combat cooperative. It was kind of Monty Python meets Dr Dr seuss surreal absurd literally. This is the game with you. Would milk butterflies collect milk. You would squeeze eggs. Squeezed chickens to get eggs anyway was very How did you raise? Money are around that I think the fact that we had been successful before but is also right at this interesting juncture where it was around round the year that android came out around the year that iphones actually started to take off and suddenly. There's this massive shift in people's discretionary Internet time from desktop and laptop stopping heaters to mobile's we had made a bat on Flash AS TECHNOLOGY FOR DELIVERING The game which wasn't going to work on mobile's and in the end that that really was the nail in the coffin. If it hadn't been for that I think it would have been worth trying a little bit more but I was committed in everyday came in with optimism and that was sure that this next thing that we were going to try it was going to work and then we did it and it didn't work but by the end I think the kind of technological dead end we had find or sounds going down the fact that it was desktop only a world that was going increasingly mobile the fact that it was already so hard to explain made it really tough. Despite the fact that there it was a super committed very enthusiastic audience I just lost faith and I realized then like once I had done that it was now.
The Snubs and Surprises of the 92nd Academy Award Nominations
"I'm Shawn Fantasy and and this is the big picture. A conversation show about the Academy Awards. They're here. Amanda the Ninety Second Oscar. Nominations have arrived. How are you feeling bright and early on this Monday morning he I do love it? I don't I don't love being here this early. I was saying to you before before we started recording and it just felt like a disclosure before we get into this podcast. My outlook at this hour of the morning is never the best. WE'RE ARE GONNA be flying fast and loose. That's what happens when you record it seven thirty in the morning. We're going to do our best to not make any mistakes. Some mistakes were made by the academy however will be talking about some of them the snubs the surprises houses. Some of the Nice things that happened with the nominations this morning. It's it'll be a robust conversation about what will be happening on February ninth the Academy Awards. Yeah there are some good do things absolutely absolutely some baffling things. Where do you WANNA start? We start with the big picture. Big Picture let's do it okay. Problem in the big picture do you. Yeah I mean maybe we'll start with the most honored movies that seems like the safest place to start first and foremost first and foremost the joker comes to us with eleven nominations now. Were you surprised now. I wasn't either. Let me tell you something about joker people in the academy love. I love that movie actors. They love it directors. We learned clearly. They love it craftspeople. They love it. Composers there in up and down the board and you've only got one acting nomination for this for walking Phoenix. So you can see how it's it's diversely. Spread across the entire voting body any significant takeaways from joker being the leading vote getter so to speak in this in this race. I didn't expect it to be the leading nomination. I think I expected that to go in nineteen seventeen which is a little bit recency bias and also just because I expected nineteen seventeen to grab every single technical nomination because that's it is Zayd technically accomplished movie so joker winning denominations thing is not what you want it is. It certainly changes the narrative. Maybe I mean it'll change what we talk about this morning. I don't know how much it changes the results on the on Oscar night. It's interesting. How as you prepared to speak about joker you pulled your hair back to a pony tail resignedly? I people know what I think about best and I want to stay right here and right now. It ain't going to change. I think that this is an intellectually bankrupt movie. I think it is the emperor's new clothes. I think that anyone and who thinks that this movie is better than parasite or once upon a time in Hollywood or little women are uncut gems has bad taste and doesn't know things about movies straight up and we can do that for for five weeks or we cannot. I'm at I don't really have the energy to do it for that long. Yeah I don't think that that's I don't think we'll be negotiating that until the movie potentially wins Best Picture which you know not always as the most nominated film the likely best picture winner but sometimes it does happen. Tends to happen with noisy movies. Like Lord of the Rings the return it at King Joker ochre is kind of a noisy movie. This is a billion dollar movie and having this many nominations having this kind of box office having this kind of awareness and having this kind of admiration from from the screen actors is. That's a pretty significant thing. So if we saw a joke best picture win on February ninth. I wouldn't be shocked. I don't know if that's what I'm ready ready to predict at this point but I wouldn't be shocked. I neither and in a lot of ways. It makes a huge amount of sense in terms of the academy has refused to WHO ACKNOWLEDGE COMIC book movies or Superhero Movies for years the academy has been trying to update itself to chew reward new types of movies too like to be current to be younger and that the end of the day the score says he caused play. Look it's tiny. Batman man movie winning Best Picture would be academy esque thing to do. It's true and it would be one year after Black Panther which sort of ushered in a lot of these conversations. What else has been honored here once upon a time in Hollywood and parasite the Irishman? You've mentioned those ten nominations for each movie. I don't think a huge surprise there for once upon a time in the Irish Ryan parasite is excuse me once upon a time in the Irishman ten as nineteen seventeen. Let's just talk about those first four gets parasite and I think that is. This is kind of standard operating procedure seizure. What we've got here is three people who made films who have been hugely recognized in the past Quentin Tarantino? Martin Scorsese Mendis as you said the reasons he buys of nineteen seventeen creeping innocent all weekend thinking nineteen seventeen the presumptive frontrunner for best picture. I don't know if I still feel that way right now. A couple of little chinks in the armor that will take a look at identify whether or not that's still the case any big time takeaways from the ten NAM's for all three of those movies are taking things for granted I am. I know that I'm taking granted. It's fantastic once upon a time in Hollywood got ten nominations. It's fantastic. They got ten movies. Nineteen seventeen very impressive movie. We're GONNA talk more about it later this week. It is less surprising that got ten nominations. You know I I saw someone on twitter describing this as a real like wars and cars years which every year at the academy is that you know the nineteen seventeen is the war part of that but very well made movie I it. So that's good. We shouldn't immediately jumped to all of the griping even though I certainly have and the reason I did that is because Joe got eleven nominations and I really don't WanNa talk about it this early in the morning but there are a great films that are being recognized there are among them is also parasite and little women both of which pulled in six nominations. Yes which is interesting. I am not surprised by either of those things but it is. It is a credible accomplishment. And I think a Lotta people on any kind of film. Twitter sense are frustrated by some of the joker recognition ignition but parasite getting six Oscar. Nominations is insane it is. There is no precedent in ninety one consecutive Oscar categories or excuse me ninety one consecutive Oscars for something like this happening so I take some solace in parasites success. So far I live is my favorite film of the year or was it. Yeah I think I put it at number one very early. It's definitely up there and put it on my decade. Let's no this is an amazing film and like and Bongino hoping direct nominated for best director. That's very exciting. And you are completely right that it was it has become such a quote lock or we we we were so sure of it that we are not like Kinda rejoicing especially in the parasite of it. All little women is the same way. There are a a couple notable omissions in the little women. Nominations that maybe put a sleigh damper on it which we will talk more about but you know it did get nominated for best picture. Sure thank the Lord. I thought that was the one where I was. Just GonNa not show up this morning. Yes so there's something interesting about the parasite. Nominations to be one is that the film was recognized in both best editing and best production design. which are you know? Chris categories and on the one hand that's kind of impressive and shows a broad sense of support amongst the academy. No acting nominations for the movie though. Oh No song-ho none of the other actors in the film were recognized. There's a maybe a case to be made that this is a kind of acknowledgement of like a film mastery mastery but maybe not the same kind of Hollywood is star mastery. That movie like the Irishman or once upon a time in Hollywood receives. I'm not sure where I fall on that. I think it does feel like progress to me to some extent the little women thing you make a fair point which is that on the one hand brilliantly made movie with wonderful performances. It's great that it's nominated for best picture as well. The absence of Greta Gerwig In the best director category something. We'll talk about a little bit more here on kind of what that means. It's kind of dangerous to draw mega conclusions from the Academy Awards. There's only eight thousand people in this group and a lot of them are old and weird so you can't we don't this is even though. This is the sort of the definitive document of movie history story in terms of achievement. It is one of the wonkfest award recognizing bodies in the in the world Academy President David Rubin noted that what makes makes this special is that this is the people who make movies voting on. What is the best movies? And that's part of what makes the ostrich great that's part of what makes them kind of terrible is because there's an insularity into some of this. The parasite recognition is something that makes me think. Maybe this isn't such an insular body anymore. Maybe there are a lot of international voters. Maybe this is changing changing. Maybe the the way that we look at international movies changing in our American culture. I think that's certainly true. And I and I do think that the economy trying to change itself and how we talked about the movies has evolved enough that we were starting in a place where we expected parasite to be nominated expected. Little women to be nominated we were talking about whether uncut cut gems would make an end and the fact that. We're all kind of bummed out about the fact that uncut gems got snubbed. which it your? Maybe you're not supposed to use the word snob in that context. But let's use it always it got snuck. Uncut gems was snubbed and that I think that that in does indicate some some progress wrestle. Change some different lineup than we would have had five years ago and a different approach to the movies on the flip side we can. We can only only addressed the world that we live in. And I do feel because we've been having these conversations for awhile and because it was such an exciting year in a year that has parasite parasite the Irishman once upon a time in Hollywood uncut gems. Little women the farewell. What am I forgetting? I mean all kinds of movie. Sure but you know all vendors and games okay shirt KAZAM. Great Active Pika Chew. Well that was this does I can't help but feel that. This is a disappointing configuration of of that list of movies. It's not totally disappointing. But there is something of. We got our hopes up enough. They are kind of like. Oh yeah this is still the academy. And they're still going to be a lots of nominations for the more traditional types of movies
It's Been a Super Busy Week for the Switch
"Welcome to Nintendo voice chat My name is Tom Marks temporary host again this week joining me today is Mr Brennan Graber Hey what's up and Mr Jonathan Dornbush hey just give us a minute all right yeah give it some time let will grow on you this episode four seventy nine it's kind of weird week this week because there's much going on we're getting into the busy fall season so a pair isn't here. Brian is busy with a preview Casey just got back from Japan shoes at Nintendo Live Zach is in La Janet is in Seattle it's just like everyone is when we wish him well there but yeah a busy busy week so I got some good good friends we're going to be we've got a good show for you still we're GONNA be talking about some recent news older there's not a ton this week we're also talking about a would there has been attend this week is review news so we're GONNA be talking about recent reviews for switch or the biggest ones of this week sorry Jonathan did you have a point to make up oh thumbs up even a thumbs up domino is off to a great start already got a busy week for releases there's a lot coming out so be sure to stick around we just got a lot of great stuff talk about this laid back episode and for the first thing we want to talk about let's talk to start jumping in with with news because there's there's not a ton but there are some cool things to discuss here the first being I feel like it's become a weekly tradition on this show Tuesday hey there's new pokemon stuff were in that cycle where there unreleased things every week they're really getting people going hype and people up by adding just need a little bits and pieces this week we got fat peak itchy Cha end long mouth hand along we also got a weird flaming charred I think somebody pointed out this is the fourth alternate a fourth version because there's the charred mega ex mega y and then now this guy which is gigantic Max journalists more than Lynn and farm heroes game your summer chart here's a winter charges charter just having like an identity crisis trying to figure out like who's the true Char's are I think people I just really like buying Char's dragon yeah people like charter charter school so these gigantic tax forms which basically means if certain pokemon that dynamex which means getting really big if you have a and this is the weird thing a specific po come on that can gigantic Max will show up with a different look to the so pika chew if you have data and this is the kind of interesting to me if you have data from let's go Pika Chew you can transfer that and get a p get you bet gigantic Max's into this very fat Pika Chew reminiscent of its first Iteration Husky boy yeah like pokemon yellow box art yeah yeah exactly similarly if you have data from let's go easy you get this very flu fee ev that gigantic taxes lucky boy yeah there's also chart I don't think they mentioned how you get that charge hard if you have let's go with the mouth is not exactly like a preorder bonus it's like if you play at the beginning of the game klay early you get this meow that will turn into basically long we had like mystery gifts that they would send out a mail and so it's probably me some of them like hey tune in for the next two months to get your you know crazy haunts the forearms right answers Cuban who's always not depressed finally happy happy it would be the saddest thing to skulls the other thing they showed was butter free that just kind of look like it had bigger prettier wings so it'll be interesting to see I like that they're doing ask that they're shaking up the the Dinah maxing tickets flavor yeah nice yeah it's not just we took the model and we stretched a right it was my worry when they showed that something like it's just GonNa look weird doing fun stuff with it especially when you're introducing a new thing that all of the previous pokemon generation and have added bells and whistles and tried to shake things up especially recently when it comes to battles but there can always be a little bit of trepidation so I think giving this nice visual incentive to for yeah to get something different out of it I like a lot I don't necessarily think it's going to convince any of the people who were not convinced by dynamex her show but it it at least is a nice little added touch it's interesting to see this this thing where it's like only specific only this mouth can do this only this Pika chew that is from the let's go peek data can do this not just any Piquiachu that's an interesting little mechanic that they're adding in the other thing I wanted to call out is our very own Janika who's away right now did a hands on preview gone up as a Thursday morning when we posted this show she got to play the first ninety minutes of Sword Shield and did a big old hands on on so go check out I G M dot com to read her thoughts on on her time with game after having spent some actually significant time with because we have played at three but it was just real brief of a gym yeah it was simple and so she she got some genuine time from what I hear is a major player in this game yeah as blue should be but yeah I talked to Janet a bit too not to like speak on her behalf please go check out our preview but yeah as she was telling me about what she saw she seemed pretty positive on like the things it's maintaining but also trying to off the formula right she caught it I think she called it like their most ambitious game in the series which is cool here adding digital we'll do that go straight to I'm telling you early in the first five minutes I will roll you out of here on that very easy on this floor it really is it's very slippy you guys don't see this but we fight a battle every moment on this show now just not slipping away from that so yeah go check out our program on previous preview on Dot com right now another of news that dropped that I was really interested to see God people more excited than I was expecting manufacturable analog who are known for making these super not which is a system that hardware emulates so that you can play Super Nintendo Games on it it's not essentially it mimics a super nintendo oh to play Super Nintendo games properly but you still need the game right you still need the games they're very against emulating games they WANNA make hardware that will run those games they just announced something called the analog pocket which is looks like a fancy little gameboy pretty much and it will play Gameboy Games game boy color games and homeboy advanced games and you again you need the cartridges this is actually playing these things but it'll play these systems or these games just out of the gate you just plug in the Trajan works except it has three point five inch LCD screen that's sixteen hundred by fourteen forty resolution and the whole thing is to hun everydollar what excited I do have a an sp on my desk that cannot hold a charge for battery I lost the chargers it and I really WanNa play one of the Games but I can't so this is like ooh this could be a workaround that will be nice the one thing I'm kind of like if the design it's making that that original gameboy look but it's a lot more sleeker but I would have almost wanted a an SP version or an advanced version words or horizontal vertical right I mean DSP is the undisputed best game boy so I my gameboy advance S. P. it's one of my great childhood tragedies that I had to throw it out at some point in a move yeah I like the design of how sleek it is but I don't know if I will buy it for two hundred dollars mostly because like my gameboy advance S. P. I don't have any of my gameboy library anymore right and that's like the big sticking point for me is like if these games are more easily accessible in a legal way to buy and obviously you know a lot of game stops and other stores have older libraries but man I would play so many of my old games like I spent so much time on my gameboy advance foundational to my love of games but this is a really cool tool for collectors or people held onto all these things to play these games easily on a piece of tack that's not you know decades old at this time and the really nice for yeah so this is another the thing is this is coming in two thousand twenty some time and it's going to have a separate thing that you can buy also that is a doc like the switch where you can plug your gameboy game into the analog pocket and then you plug the analog pocket into a doc and you can connect a bluetooth controller to that and then play your game boy color or Gameboy advance or gameboy games on a t we like a switch basically it's much more elegantly than the Gamecube gameboy adapter young into the bottom of the system. So funny I still have one of those I I had service yeah so goofy yes so that's it I mean I don't know if I'd ever want to play a game boy game on a four K. TV but it's cool that they're just taking that extremely accessible to do yeah yeah I think like ten game boy games on me so the price point is an issue boy also have pairs giant Goodie bag true game boy games steel for oil there's just get a bag of game boy games in a pile and like picking one out it's like oh wow castle or like oh well beauty and the beast for gameboy color copies of Sri Castle the castle real I didn't know this was a thing way back yeah oh teddy release system the Gameboy back the analog pocket you can check it out for yourself we've got more details on Jan well it's very it's very cool I just like elected they're doing this I I really appreciate analog doing stuff even if the price point is our above the range that I would be paying WanNa pay for it it's a it's still going to be really nice thing for the people who do go after that and can't afford it price point like I understand it especially for the people who probably do have collections and are like willing to shell out because of how useful and modern of piece of equipment this is moving on there's a couple of other things sonic is coming to super monkey ball banana blitz hd this is the master of the we

"They're just they have to say whatever's on the page, and if it if it's not good like an actor can only do so much with with what they're giving and directing to sometimes take or shot will go onto long or be cut too short. And the timing of their line is weird. And there's a lot. I mean, directing to absolately because I've seen I've seen low budget stuff where I'm like, I think this dramatic scene would be good. If. If it was shot if it was shot one. Yeah. But it, but because it's, you know, low budget and the lighting's bad, and you know, the camera work is sloppy. Like, it just looks cheap. Right cheapens, the the acting. I don't know. So I don't wanna compl- I'm not saying he was the worst actor ever. But like the beginning was like kinda rough like in in his defense. Also, he was playing off of things that weren't there pretty much the most the time because he's communicating and having seen with a Pok Mon that is not I don't know what they did in place of the Pika chew. But so he is having a scene with. Air mean, his interactions of P chew wasn't was no I will say I think the movie was the movie was great on the fact alone that the designs of the Pokemon are so impressive actually worked. I I was never bothered by any of the the looks of the Pok Mon Pika chew was got Jim. Dude. I like every time every time like the sad face. Sad face Pika chew gets like I there. There was a part where where I got a little I got a little watery in the ice. No. 'cause like peachy look so sad and one part when he got wet, and it's furs all matted. Spoiler pitchy. Gets wet. Just the Kahane's on them to be like what Pokemon. Are we going gonna feature in this movie mister mine -lica- tongue like some of the put on there throwing out there? "That's nightmares. You don't wanna? For that to be the end of it is my dad's now my pet, you know, it's just you got to get him back. Sounds like eighty sitcom to me, I think it could go five seasons. If this were nineteen eighty six, hey, my mother, the car only made to. Soad's? Well, it was no such thing as syndicated television back then I think that there would have been an audience for something so weird. But if this movie does as well as its thinking, and I think that yes globally. You've told me how much those animated movies make this thing globally has already made its budget back. And I think it's going to make a lot of money, and there will be a sequel. How'd you get Ryan Reynolds back in the Pika chew? Yeah. You figure you can try some way. Obviously when they go forward. He's the voice of Pika chew. Again. You do not have the actor in the movie, but that's again contrivances the way to the movie makers of said, maybe the next movie wouldn't have Pika chew or Tim. They're talking about a Pok Mon cinematic universe where they could have different stories with different Pok Mon, and then they all come together sometime. No Pika chew. It's never happened. And it will never happen. Right. That's that's some hubris that I don't think they understand their audience a little bit. Then no way on that. I that maybe. Have he could chew with a new human? Like, I don't know that Justice myth is going to be the phone call again or Ryan Reynolds, but Pika chew will be there. Well, we'll you Justin Stewart do you recommend Pok Mon detective Pika chew, Justin. This one's weird. I mean had we not been in the series. And I just decided to take my kids to this movie. I can say yes, I had a fun time. I didn't necessarily understand it all, but, you know, having been with the series for while there's a few things in here that I could pick out from having just watched all these other movies. I enjoyed a lot of those things on screen, but I also had the experience of going with my son who has been poking on fan and getting his perspective on it. He was picking out things that I even having watched these wasn't picking out. He noticed that Tim shirt kept changing throughout the movie. I don't know anyone home changed it. But he had the unknown symbols on his shirt, and it was a different one. In a lot of different seems weird. I'm not sure if there was something to be said their secret message or. Just a little Easter egg. Like, hey, these are the unknown symbols check it out. But I think what this movie needs to do is needs to work for kids who grew up with Pok Mon, and it also needs to make sense to people who only know Pok Mon from the Pokemon go app and on those two levels. I think it works. I think if you're fan of Pokemon growing up, and is because of those movies. This isn't any worse than those movies that you grew up watching. It's just live action now and looks much prettier. So that's who you are. This move is going to work for you. If you're somebody who's been playing Pokemon go for the last three years, and you're only familiar with these characters because of the app, it's fun to see them in a movie, but as a movie itself, we kind of talked about it, there's all sorts of plot holes, there's all sorts of contrivances like I didn't understand why MU to all of a sudden said, yes, I hate humans. But I guess I will say this one just to say it. I mean, it didn't make too much sense just from a movie thing. So I feel like I've been harsh on this series. Even though I haven't hated. It. So I'm gonna give this one slight recommend. Wow. Just because I think it works for what the whole series has been trying to do. And if this is the culmination of where we're coming out. I did not hate this movie. I would see it again. It was funny. It was breezy. Yeah..

"And that's not going to be the case. But not. Nobody has ever been able to converse with a Pok Mon in history. So this is a big deal. A-bomb those things are creepy amputee Pokemon. Anyway, I don't know if you noticed they have arms with no hands their hands are cut off. And then they have a tail with a giant they their hands off their arms. I'd noticed the tail. Yeah. And so like freaking out because I never really the amputee of them has always bothered me in Pokemon, go. But seeing them like swing from things and use their little stubby arms to catch things. I'm like, oh my God. Yeah, they're creepy characters to begin with. And then to have them all amped up and on this arduous, man. It was pretty invigorating to start the movie with a little bit of a chase. They're running up the building and slamming doors and all that stuff. And it's a good way to Jek little bit of action into this. Otherwise meandering story so far, and I do think at least American kids today, even young. Ones are accustomed to this level. Like, the show would never dare to go this intense. But maybe it should maybe this is a signal that they can trust their audience to do that more. They run up on the roof, and they go down a garbage by the time the things get down onto the street level. Again, we can see it's worn off. It's a temporary thing. And it's all over and the only one freaked out about it is Tim who's now covered in certain running around trying to convince anyone that will listen that Pika chew was talking to him. I love the few times we hop and see an external person's perspective of beacon, shoelaces Pika that girl. You're adorable urine. Or that? I felt was a little Ryan Reynolds hitting on that girl, but I find Pika chew to be incredibly cute here from the outside. Yeah. This is a good seen. This is a good way to let us know as an audience that what is happening with Tim. And that the fact that he can understand Pika chew peak at you can understand him is actually happening without it being. Ng overly done to the point. Where it's I guess we get these two aren't supposed to be able to communicate like this. But it's happening. It's done. So in such a way that I enjoyed the set here as they're walking through the underbelly of rhyme city in going past the cafes and booth at think it works well here. Yeah. This is the Bladerunner part. I don't feel like much of the movie looked like blade runner. But this moment there, clearly, referencing readily, Scott and the neon and the fusion of eastern and western influences in the architecture and all that I wanna give a shout out specifically to Justice Smith. I actually think he's really good in this movie. And I didn't know who he was I had to look them up. I'm like is he some unknown Will Smith Siahaan like see like overshadowed by willow, and Jaden and all of that. It's not in that Smith family, but he's quite good. We had seen him in that last drastic world movie, basically doing this kind of comedy bits, and he's good at that in a kid's sitcom way. He got all the pratfalls all. The faces he can do all of that stuff..

"All done after the fact. Yeah. And that goes for that goes for lava human people in here too. Because like, I said, you know. Tim when he would because the thing with Tim like, I you kinda miss that development with him because if. If Tim main not being Pika choose straight man than he's running screaming from a special effect on explosion laser something. Yeah. It's just that at this point. The movie I'm not I'm not saying it's terrible. But it really is is is something where we started out with human characters, and I was kinda getting into they really do start to be pushed back by the Pok Mon and the Pokemon Lord. And they become less significant. I mean, even with people like Kathryn Newton who plays Lucy Stevens. She's see star now trying to solve a mystery leg him, and as she gets more into it. She kind of barely becomes just a love interest and tag along. Well, it's making the beginning like with so many of these it was so much that she had a lot of her character was on a developed, but she was bit of a cartoon. But she seemed like she had real purpose purpose. Yeah. She was she was trying to solve a mystery. Yeah. And in the long movie goes on the more. She's just a side kick of the character tag along. Yeah. Just barely a love interest. Just some they don't even they don't even let them kiss just like he says person, I'm kind of attracted. Two. Komo lease seal the do. Let me see I'll walk into a hotel room. It'll be beat be active with it. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not even saying that that's necessarily a bad thing. Now, not necessarily. It's just I think it's just good for people to know ahead of time that, you know, once Pika chew arrives in the movie, the movie becomes less. The movie becomes less about the human characters and becomes more about Pok Mon in the history from the games, which means that it'll work better for fans, if you're a casual viewer who's just kinda strolling in without knowing anything there's going to get to a point where you go to say what the fuck is happening. I don't know any of this. I know this because I was sitting next to two older woman critic. And by the end of it. She was just losing her mind. I I read a bunch of things even even critics positive your really don't know what's going on. Yeah. Is very frenetic and things are happening everywhere. And I kinda got lost. I can say I didn't get loss. Not because I know about Pok Mon, but just because it just it apes Roger rabbit so much for who framed Roger rabbit so much. I was like all right. It's just following the same breadcrumbs, so I know from that. And I can just parse. Okay. This is that this is that this is this. All right. I can I can see where it's going matter of fact to the point where the movie I like you like, I don't I don't think it's necessarily bad, and I want to beat up on it. But once you get past the first act it is so telegraphed like especially in a third act. Everything is so telegraph. They just moving from thing that thing that thing you, okay? Most units. I can't tell you what you knew. But I have a feeling like without know about poking Mont. And there was some things like, I know the pattern. But I don't know what the fuck is going on with this shore. You know because he kept throwing other things in there. And I was like, okay, don't get distracted by that. It'd be real easy to get distracted by these things here. Yeah. It just gives the point where they it just felt like a non-euro was making up this. Yeah. And really just things were happening. I'm not saying that as an insult you you better than the woman who sit next because she just went mad at a kind of laugh at first stuff that was funny. And then by the like. You don't even knows happening. Now, he's like, no, I'm I'm losing my fucking mind on those. I don't know what happened because you know, people could there are things in there that happened that again as a pattern that goes by with this. But there there were things like all right? It just feels like that was made up on the spot and like four blockbuster. Now having said that fans for millions poking mind,.

Read thank side the hedgehog just fucking jumped out on nowhere because there was a demand. No, it was not know this this came because some executive somewhere hurt that this is going to blow this going to blow up is going to be big in while we might not be able to route this acccess. I mean, look sign a gain sign it gain. No Pika chew and sonic Gatineau. Mario, you know, signing his son is do all of them walking down the street when you got sonic and Pika chew. No. And that's was that that is why the donors because we're got out, and they can they can dick route these other properties. Yeah. And that's why we got the movie that we got here why it's live action. It's probably quicker to film, then all these other animated movies, always take a long time to make point. And so that's what live action you only have one big animated character in that. That's what you got. Weirdest story about sonic being alien who's coming here to help early earth of a cop. Does a lot of things. Look bless your heart. Thank you going into in doing this up. We appreciate it. Mr fowler. You listen to the people. Yeah. You did in that. "A free. Scooby doo. 'nother thing with with with detective Pika chew man with detective Pika chew. What they've done is. They've they've they've created a universal world that caters to the to the design of these characters as you were saying, you know, this more characters in there. So what they've done is. They've created a world. They didn't try to create our world have another cartoon character exaggerated carrot to come in. They've changed where we're Pok Mon eight exist, which means that they could change the rules of it. And yeah, they change us around little bit people complain about the for of of Pika chew. But people don't like people don't like that. But it's still still I love it, man. I I like it. it even with sonic. The fact they made him furry. I'm sure it's it's people off them like this tell you watching him. He's a hedgehog. We what what are you going? But what they do is they sign it into like pretty much trying to cram it into our world. They can bend the rules of a world that they create and these characters look almost just like the ridge designs. Sure, they can be exaggerated. They can be very cartoony. They don't have to make the to realistic because this is a fantasy world upon itself. Right. That's why Roger every word exactly a world where humans tunes coexist with focus too. And with that what they can do here is that because they can bend the rules of this world and do anything they were able to actually have it represents the game a little bit more. They didn't have to try to like four stuff in there. And yet having represent exactly what it is at all these moments in here with feels like that is Pokemon Pokemon brought to the real world. But yet not our world. I'm sorry, man. I know you're not excited. Good to know. I can't wait, man. Just not super excited. But I tell you. That's the way sign it could've worked. You know? Why I try to like do this comedy? Buddy thing where you know, make make a world where don't make a world where you four sonic into live action. Make a world where sonic will fit make a world where you know, the whole platforming in the rules will fit, you know, wing time fall. Requires the script, man. Rendering either probably some money. Yes. But But this. this. The world of sonic. That is great. I don't know how to bring it in. But you know, it's crazy. Doesn't make it makes..

"I'd much prefer the come in both guns blazing matrix. But I may just becoming in saying I'd love to see a hitman movie. And this was the furthest thing. From it. But I'd rank these hitman and then hitman agent forty seven, but by a hair, I mean, they're pretty much equally bad to me. I I don't know that a movie like this deserves to have a good leap performance. It's not like I want someone I really respect as an actor to take this role. I mean, Paul Walker rest in peace. But I don't know that he was very good actor either. I don't think he would have blown us out of the water if he had been able to play this role that they got some nondescript guide to play clone. Fine. I mean, it's just not a movie franchise, that's begging me to return again. And again, so the fact that this is going to right now it's in development to being a TV series on Hulu seems like the perfect conception of how to take this video game episodic every episode. He goes somewhere else on a different mission to kill somebody else. And you can make what's interesting about it. The people he interacts with that seems much more appealing. Than the idea following agent forty-seven or agent ninety through future sequel right because after all it is a video game world. And it's trying to live in an action. Movie spy thriller universe without earning. Either of those things, but yeah, you're right TV might be the perfect place for this. Like, you said weekly missions with an overall overarching mission to figure out who he is essentially that he can find out at the end of season three fine. I'm not going to be chomping at the bit for something like that. But it feels more appropriate there. Yeah. TV's great. Because that means I don't have to watch it. I mean, we weren't outside the blast radius of sequel for this. I was very upset when I realized it came out in twenty fifteen and I'm like, I think we need two more years to be really sure they aren't gonna do agent. Forty seven part two. I felt like it was a little too close for comfort. And so yes, go to Hulu, stay out of theaters. Like, I said, it's a bad property to adapt. Because the whole point is. Is not you. It's a puzzle game where you need to go in and be inventive and use cunning and use your wits and be smart and kill somebody and get out and you do it again. And again, and again, that's fun. But I mean, I don't wanna see maze craze the movie either. And I like that game too. If anyone remembers maze craze. Well, maybe actual John movie will fix you up. We've mentioned the fact that it man was partially inspired by the films of John. Woo. That's what we're covering next week face off a donor request kind of in that they wanted to make John woo thing. And then the publisher said, no, go do this other thing. But yeah faceoff. It is a one off. We're doing at the request of a patron I'm excited. I mean, I saw in theatres did I like it find out? I don't admit. I liked it back. Then we'll I still like it is the question. The case for something you respond to a long time ago. I've never seen it. I've actually never watched the film even this recording. I have no idea what I'm going to think of it. But I'll let you know next week, isn't it today bue of Travolta's short hair to pay. What about Get Shorty though? I don't even know what he looks like in this film. He looks like Kate. I'm in. Never. And we will be getting back to video games. Eventually couple months. We'll be kicking up Pok Mon. So I don't know anything about that either. I mean, I didn't even know it was video game. I thought it was a card game. I was belligerent that we were not going to do those films because they were not video games. I well, I was wrong. And you guys will all suffer with the go through five Pika chew adventures leading up to a combo made inhale Pika chew and Ryan Reynolds detective Pika chew this summer. "Pokomo. Let's go and Pokemon. Let's go Pika chew and super. Mario party the to poke. Games combined to sell two million units in the US and Super Mario party sold. One point four million Nintendo's star player, however has been super smash Bros. Ultimate which was revealed earlier to be the company's fastest selling game ever in Europe. While the US sold three million units in just eleven days that is very impressive. How many units Nintendo switch us globally is a harder number to come by Vosa? Because intend to hasn't revealed it in July, the tally was nearly twenty million units. Which means it's probably ballooned well past that by now, but how does that stack up to PlayStation for an Xbox One? Microsoft, of course, stopped revealing hardware figures a while ago and the face of the PS four dominance and Sony's machine. We know has sold more than eighty six million units worldwide, it's unlikely which will ever have time to catch up to Sony with Microsoft already talking about a new generation of Xboxes and Sony presumably won't be far. Behind with PS five. We'll congratulations. Everybody over at Nintendo. That is an impressive number to say. The least it is weird. How you compare them? Because it's not a true console race in the sense that Xbox One PS four had a couple of years on intendo switch and like they say here in the article the odds of switch actually catching up to PS four is pretty slim. And we don't even know if they're going to hit their internal sales figure they seem confident that they will with the impressive numbers of super smash Bros. Ultimate of course. "I actually really hope they keep the core mystery of the same like, I know they can't follow each beat because it's way too long. And there's too many things I think would be maybe too expensive for them to adopt. I don't know that it looks pretty big. Oh, really neat locations really big Pokemon and that because the sheer number Pok Mon in detective Pika chew would probably be too many. And there's already a lot of things in this that are different from the game. I don't want to spoil anything or like reveal any of the bigger twists in case that that is a thing. But there are some references and actually the poster for the Ford undetected peachy movie that hint at things I did happen to the game some really excited. How do you like the voice of Ryan Reynolds as they don't be? So here's the thing. I think he's a fantastic actor, but it already feels like this is round Reynolds Pichu and not detected p to like the I joke that he lands is around rails joke. This is like a deadpool joke isn't a detective pitchy joke. Right. And that's I think what I'm most worried about going in this. They're writing this character for him in not as this character. I mean, that's that's probably fine for a lot of people. But for me, it's this appointing because I like, the Sassine is of detective pitchy in the games and his kind of weird old, man. Yeah. Likes women weirdly at them in but is hit on human women. Right. Favorite part of the? Yeah. But it's like very mild. It's just like what the heck does it in the train a little bit to you. But not to the same extent. And I just I want my Pika chew coffee tips. This feature loves coffee coffee. A cop. He'd better dude on the movie too. I think that like I was just sort of blown away by how much I liked the trailer because I think that sort of cynically I was anticipating. Just not being interested in in a detective Pichu film at all. But watching that trailer for the first time, it's like, oh, this might actually be great. And I think you really hit the the nail on the head like I think movies is going to print money. So it's going to be huge. So we post a we'd posted the trailer to all our all the platforms on it. It is our biggest biggest video on Facebook all year, and it's only been up week. It wasn't just like our biggest video. It's one of the it was the biggest video on Facebook. That was the number one video Facebook that day, and it was the biggest one fly genome Facebook all year. So that gives you an idea on how much interest that was the tone of the trailer to because you so a beat and excited, and they did it also looks grimy and grades. Yeah. That's what I was trying to what is it like enor- film? Yeah. Luckily, you You are. are. Not explain city is so much more gritty than isn't a game. It's like it's just like a pleasant town. This was like, oh, man. It's also a completely different experience to see it on the big screen. I don't know if you guys have had an opportunity to theaters, but it's pretty wild people share or what was the right cheered. When saw fantastic beasts crimes of ground or wonder, whatever his name, I I hear hear about about movie. movie, but it's awful movie. But the the detective peaky trailer ran in front of it. And I went with a group of people that are like completely uninitiated. Like, it was just like my pals that don't play games don't want it all and the reaction was like just a resounding what the F. Like, I I was sitting next to my friend. She leaned over to me. She was like this is real like what is this? So maybe not the target demographic there. You can see like the tiny hairs on his face yell, which is really creepy. Like it's way too much. I don't wanna see that much Mr. mime, right? He's looked. So frightening got I not I'm not a fan of him. And I just think that whole the whole thing is too much. And they should have stuck with cartoon or not trying to do the right because you can draw the Pok Mon and the characters like, I think the only other one I know is like I know Pokemon because he's obviously the main one Pika chew peak. You see, I don't even know. I know I think that like a Pokemon is a character. It's not like the whole. I don't know. But then what's like, the pinkish purple and charge us probably gigli puff the pink circa one. They call it charter. That's like the dragon with flames. I see this moving to me. I hope I never watch. I'm going to make sure I never watch except your kids. Don't wanna watch it. My kids won't mind if you will. No, they don't let me go at them because I talked to the screen. Well, you're going to get out of I would be screaming. This is stupid. Sorry, guys. Yeah. I mean, I don't really wanna watch it. But I also will say if you think it's really creepy. If you watch the trailer like over and over again, you will adjust to how they look and it'll find it less creepy. Okay. If you plan on watching the movie, and you think that the Pok Mon look strange, which again, I agree with you. Then you can just watch the trailer over and over again and the craziness will wear off. Okay. I don't know if you actually want to subject yourself to that. I don't know. But that could be a way to overcome it. I think what would throw me as Ryan Reynolds voice. Yes. Because it's like, you know, who he is. You know that he plays a significant significant character in marvel. So it's like, no, you're a little yellow thing. Right. So who are the other voices, then because the p the thing with the Pokemon is it like? In this movie Pika chew and the character who I don't think plays ask. But who plays another Pokemon trainer? The boys. The only one who can understand peak Asia too. And that's why they're like hanging out together. Okay. So everyone else just like here's like the classic like Pika Pika Pika. Chew sound. Okay. No. So they can't understand that you sane words. So I don't think the other Pokemon have voices. At least from what I've seen in the trailer. It's kind of like it's only like Pika chew and his trainer that understand each other. And that's why they're like together. This sounds dumb. Yeah. I don't think I mean. See pokemon. You have such a following. And I feel like now you're just like alienating your following. Yeah. But it might still make tons of money. You know, things like that things that I doubt often end up just making a lot of money. Even though I'm like that's dumb. How did that happen? I know really, right. Okay. I mean crocs they're still making a bunch of money. And I think they're dumb Suzie though. I'm just not gonna predicting right? Do not look forward to this on our movie podcast, by the way. "And I'm joined by the wonderful REI on Hello today on social media. We are talking about a few different stories one of them about a topic. That really never seems to die a franchise that is always out there, and they tell you they're making new games that have different topics, and it's just the same thing. It really is. Yeah. This is about Pokemon. And if you play the games, you know, you have your Pok Mon that you train, and then you battle against other Pokemon trainers and their Pok Mon. Well, this is not a game. They are making a movie, but not an animated movie. Now, it's it's different. It's scary. It's like would say it's live action. Like, it's real people and everything but in the Pokemon or like CGI. Yeah. And. I don't know what it is almost like they're making a distortion Pokemon universe and the Pokemon looked kind of lifelike, but like kind of scruffy looking. I mean, I thought that it was weird. Like, it's just very strange. I like it at all. Are you on does not like, hey? So I realize this is not a topic that is close to Iran's heart. You know, like me for some people out there. You might look at this trailer because the trailers out, and you should watch it. If you want to be frightened too like who will watch it and be very disappointed because they love Pok Mon. Yeah. It's not gonna there's gonna be no happy middle in this. You're gonna they're really like it really like poke him on more just not just be like why you might also. I mean, I could be wrong. You might think that they look cool. But it's so this is the movie is detective Pika chew. So if you've seen like the Pika chew with the -tective hat on and stuff, it's that style of Pika CHU. Yeah. But surprise pitches voiced by Ryan Reynolds that we should he still sapper weird in. He actually talks like in Pok Mon pitcher says Pika chew. But he like actually just talks normally. Yeah. And his trainer can understand him. That's why they like are together. And he's Pika. Choose a detective. So they solve a crime and is super weird. And why Ryan Reynolds, I don't know. I feel like they could have gotten anybody else anybody else. And also Pika CHU is like cute, like inroads voice is not that type of cute. It's not little animal cute. It's like deadpool. Yeah. Exactly. And I feel like maybe that's why they got him because he can play somebody that will bring numbers to the box office and even. Why? Yeah. But if you know anything about Pika chew, which I know very little I know enough because my nephew is a Pika chew fanatic. And that's not why I don't like I just never really did. I thought it was the stupidest concept, but sorry, I'll you pick. It you lovers out there. But yeah, rent his voice has it does not is one of those like when you hear somebody talking then you see their face, and you're like wait that doesn't match. Yeah. Oh, yeah. For sure exactly how it is this cute little animal and then Ryan rounds. It's just very strange to me. Yeah. And a lot of people think so I saw an article online a lot of people were very confused where the trailer not only because Ryan Reynolds voice. But also how some of the Pokemon look because they're so siegi. It's creepy. I think it's creepy. Yeah. Like, and there's like a mister mind character. Which is I already think is creepy looking Pok Mon. And now, it's even weirder in this movie. Also, the gigli puff is like furry, which I think is strange, but this should not be furry weird. And it looks angry. And it looks very strange to me. But there actually is an article that I read where they went really like deep down the rabbit hole of like this new Pika chew movie looks creepy..

"Detective Pika chew. Should I say this now or later? Sure it it's from the nation. We I'm apparently completely wrong. The cartoon came first, then the games this movie is based on detective Pika chew the game. Not the cartoon where you catch them on and train them in the actual detective peak chew game peak at you as a deep voice and solves mysteries not the same Pika chew cash. Caught in the in the cartoon in other Pokemon. So. So this is a different whole gin him. No, it's one of my friends, but that essences. You're wrong about that Pokemon was gonna tend to forget after my time. Yeah. Pokemon Pokemon shit. So there was a detective peek at your game. That's interesting. We had garbage pail kids. Yeah. We had garbage pill killed stickers that those were great lot of fun. He didn't have to catch him. But they were gross you out. All right. Well. Talk to get the. Movie. Look, he's he's got a a small budget. We got Jamie Foxx playing. Spawn we got Jeremy Renner is one of the leads complaining that they weren't getting behind in in doing what he wanted to do his vision because he's writing and directing like, so you hadn't mentioned the spun movie earlier, he's not getting a green light for some reason. This is the problem he had with the Hollywood system when he made that movie like they he wasn't able to do the movie that was movie. Yes. The way he wanted to. So I thought he would get more control. But rugs saying is they're resisting some of this fighting back. But I mean, this is the guy they give a whole Spiderman comic book to write and he'd never wrote a whole comic book before. And to be honest. Those first issues of spider bad, we're not going which era was he I forget early nineties. It all it's he was hit ninety two ninety three. And then image started early. He was amazing Spiderman okay, he was amazing win. Venom came out. He created venom co-created venom. Right. That I know got his own spider where I think he got a lot of spawn from. Yes, it looks a lot like sparring. Yeah. And then he they started image. And he started spun which spot is like one of the highest selling black superheroes. Still to this day portrayed by Michael J, white and the first movie the article also makes great points that you forget that Todd made a really popular real human black super hero. That was black. Yes. That's the thing that nobody ever. I think it was a murder cop. Yes. He was like a mercenary house. I supposed to know you is black. It's only issue of the. Yeah. Until the movie, and he's only you always see him in the very first issue. Axes white black Michael J, white better known from sons of anarchy. Yes. At the pri- all five years. Probably remember Michael J white from like all the bad like be movie. Steven Seagal the mix. Thousands. He was black dynamite. Yeah. Did you guys see the? Speaking of old rappers. Did you guys see what? What fifty cents to two Giro? No again. He's still he's still picking on John rule. He bought out the I two hundred seats. Something. And then we were talking about last week on ground that he's buying all of Giro doesn't own his masters so shit. So so fifty two recordings to do what with them to either. Fuck it paid off them or just completely make him go fuck away. I mean, how petty are you disliked, Cheryl, come up? Fifty. You got shot nine times. It's five leave this motherfucker alone. Gosh, should know what it's like to go. If you brought up the so as like I like John rule for a hot second. And then like it got really repetitive on two hundred seats at a concert. There's only one hundred six people going. I doubt. That's that's so me you play a song. I probably know the words and we'll start. Oh, come on. I love singing. He was singing with a shanty a shot. I just wanted to another gorgeous. Jay Z what you really want. Another name. That's all he's hot for like one summer. I I fucked..

"It is bullshit unless a website is using an intendo trademark and its name or branding than this is all about copyright and intendo making a choice to be the biggest bully possible. Most of the other video game copyright holders. Don't behave like this because they choose not to so. Yeah. That's the thing is that. I don't think any of us were saying intendo necessarily had to sue them for twelve million dollars. But we thought again, either thing I can flayed it was the idea that like there is legal like reason for them to want to pursue this beyond just them like wanting money from people that are like. Riveting their game, sir. Good feedback thinks that was Adam. Maybe maybe I'll remember this time in E N. Ian. Thank you. Ian. What's up next? Okay. Dan wanna read this one for Andrew? Yes. Hey beast friend does put the announcement on blast before. I'd put y'all on blast for this. Command and conquer Tiberius. Dawn is the original command and conquer colloquially called Tiberius done. This follows the naming convention for that branch of the series using the term Tiberia or Tiberia and each title. This is understandably confusing spirit to be the first time that the game is called Burien dawn from an official source. Thank you. Andrew was confused about that. Because he had a boxer says commanded conquer, and then tabby and son was the one that came after red alert, right? And I seen C four the latest official one is heavier in twilight. Oh, yeah. That's what I was thinking dawn because I was like oh that just sounds like when I didn't play them. But yeah, I guess if there was no one notice I did not there's no correction for what I said about. Everyone's. Playing commanded cocker backed uncle ask game have good taste in games. Let's up next Abby. Thanks, Andrew from Andrew shore. Another Andrew Andrew says, hey, there beast war transformers to is totally lost Banadir that what does that mean? Peace fours. Banadir? I assume it's a transformer that there's a was I'm pretty sure. Fuck. This guy's talking. Yes. What am I the waspa- Nater? Apparently, you know, I don't know beast wars, you agreed though war. My I wanna be a transformer. Can I be the one that's a boombox can. I be a constructive. On an episode to talking about detective Pika chew dance and green lantern was played by Seth Rogan a character. Dan was thinking of was green hornet by Seth Rogan in the movie of the same name all the same thing. Really? Isn't it wasn't it? But did have Christopher Christopher Walt as a scenery devouring villain. Never stop stopping this. Andrew from Columbia, garland greenhorn. It is not a very good movie. But it is still better than the green lantern movie. All in the marvel green lantern movie is awful watch either. I mean that would be the recommendable choice. I'm just saying if someone is holding you a gun point. And they said you gotta watch one of these green movies pick greenhorn at one and shorter. And to some of it is fun mile. All right miles. These are your choices fried green tomatoes green room. That's good. That's actually good movie. What's up nex? Okay. Jeff when read this one from Darren, of course. I know you're from Johnson county. This is for Dan. But it's literally half stay away kind of borders, Missouri. Columbia is not the capital of Missouri. Jefferson City is right. So many. Sure. One hundred percent right on that forms area cities that anyone knows Saint Louis. Kansas City Columbia where the colleges I forgot about Jefferson City being the capital. And then there's Branson. Branson independence, pennant sucks. Most of Missouri sucks. What's your favorite? Kansas city. Yeah. By default. But Missouri's a bad if I'm being honest. I don't know anyone from zuri that speaks highly of Missouri, Missouri. Louis cheese, Saint Louis has been there. It's pretty cool doesn't that have that like city park where you get to like climb all the stuff arch. It's always pretty tie feel like it's misery that has city park. It's something that's fucking coolest shit. But anyway, where it is. I don't think I know anyone directly from Saint Louis, but everyone I know who is from the mid west is incredibly judgy about Saint Louis and just does not speak nicely of it. Whether they should or not, I don't know. I've only been there for exactly five minutes driving through it. So I have like no meaningful opinion myself..

"Yes. So he sees hit his gauge, hey, his day in a jam in subway car, and then like everything else that Jimmy said thinking in his mind. All right. So where are we at now? We're what Pokemon detective Pichu. That's right detective Pika chew. So it was funny. We were watching this. We actually did one of our rough cut meetings. And we always have trailers that we show and two of the trailers this this week. We're actually shown in my rough cuts meetings this week. And I was sitting next to the creative director as playing this Pokemon detective Pika chew. And he leaned over to be goes to we need this is there actually at audience. This is it is this needed right now. You know, I kind of thought the same. And I was like, oh that was the whole subject matter of last week's podcast is like doing it. Another story on this story life, and it was funny to have it bleed over into this week. Well, Ted, I think that I don't know who you were talking with whoever he was I think it might be like, well, we we said was do we need a retailing? Of something that's been told two or three times prior. Right. You know, maybe one of the ways to look at it as which we've talked about in the past is multiple tales of Robin Hood, for example. Right. But in this case, we've never had a Pika chew or I'm sorry, a Pokemon movie. So, but we've had games I know the card game. And then they had the app, you know, you go out walking around your town looking for rookie mind. Yeah. Exactly, polka mongo and everything, but they do have a huge library of the TV show. Okay. That didn't know that that's the episodes that braces talking about, and I think that's this separation that they've kind of created here where they say Pokemon detective Pika chew because as like this layer. I mean, even the main character says he doesn't want to be a what they called trainer chain. He doesn't wanna become Shane of because he is experience. Right. But you think like. Ken, Ken Watanabe is a friends with his dad, and you like, wow. Like, they have serious star power. So it's kind of amazing. And it's and it's deadpool Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Reynolds is Pika chew. He's also deadpool. So I am very ignorant when it comes to Pok Mon embrace is Pokemon one of the shows that you're into on television. Not nearly so I washed it a little longtime ago like Luna two years ago. And then I stopped watching it. Because like, I didn't understand it. Like why why are you tormenting these little homeless homeless because you're using them to battle? But like why you using them to battle the not made to do that kind of like. But then they have this Volusia will them may about on how and I don't get it. Because I probably at first what made to battle on like, I don't like. It. So it's like it's like it's like cockfighting. Gotcha. So okay, the Pokemon Pika chew and all this stuff. And I know like, oh, I don't know what Pokemon. It's been around for probably run twenty years. I'd say, oh, yeah. At least I think longer it's been around a long time. Because I remember kids like little nephews in women that not nephews maybe cousins, I guess, but they would. I mean, I'm an only child so I don't know but cousins and whatnot like they would have these Pokemon cards like in the mid nineties. So it's been going on for a long time. It comes from a card game, and you know, it progresses into these like cell phone, apps, smartphone, apps and everything. And now we have a movie that's come out. So let's kind of look at the trailer in where things are. And what's your opinion of so fit starts as a card game? It moves into the space of an animated series. And. We also have the smartphone app game. What's your opinion of how all that plays than into a trailer for a movie that's coming out? I disagree with your idea because like Hughes something that like mostly happened. So they have booklets of all the Pokemon cuts. So okay, how come the Pok Mon called on shoot push shoop shoop Ecole these days, but they used to be blowing and other people cool like how they why they chain. How do I know?.

"This has got to be a joke. So what I'm gonna talk about is. We got a first trailer for movie called Pokomo on the -tective Pika chew. That's right. Is a live action movie. It's a brand new trainer. I don't believe. It's like, you know, as sure Brock or missed your any. Transit someone brand new hits live action and one of the weirdest things. But this show that really made me question. It's real it's it's you know, like honesty is Ryan Reynolds is in this movie and take a wild guess who he plays it because I wouldn't have guessed this thousand and years until seeing the chiller myself is he at the voices Pika chew. That's right. That's Ryan Reynolds is doing a lot of things right now. He's doing once upon a dead pool. He's doing a remake of clue he's doing any movie called stoned alone. Which is supposed to be like another part of. I think I I don't know if it's a comedy another part of the home alone trill you so he's doing a lot of interesting things. But I think this one really takes the cake it just does. So the basic premise of this movie is this like, there's, you know, Pokemon everywhere. And this guy wants to put this kid. Probably teenagers more correct wants to be Pokemon trainer and he stumbles upon Pika chew. But he can actually hear Pika to talk. You know, hence Ryan Reynolds, you know, when it when he talked when he talks to pitcher pitcher talks to him. You hear Ryan Reynolds voice. Now anybody else for whatever reason just hearing other Pika Pika, that's all they hear they and that's a different voice, by the way. It's not run Reynolds. So it's basically a film, you know, where it's like he's getting ready to be a Pok on master or wants to be Pokemon master, we see late gigli puff in this. We see charred who else. Do we see a couple Pok Mon in the live action? You know area. There's a lot of action in this. There's some fight scenes. I don't even know if we see villain in this. But maybe I'm not sure. But anyways, so. Yeah. And I looked this movie has, you know, you Wikipedia page, and I think it's like, you know, on other social media's in this. As far as I can tell this isn't a joke, this movie's really happening, and gee, where do I stand on this film? Yeah. I I don't know this is one of the more peculiar films. I probably heard of in a while. And I've heard of some peculiar ones I've seen some really Bikila ones that I just have. But this film. I remember when I saw the trailer. I was like, whoa. That's. That's really hall. I don't know. It's just like, I'm just like, I don't know. If this is a good idea, Universal Pictures is doing this film now mind, you they've done some, you know, films before they have you know, they've they've had a history. But and like, I said we've gotten a lot of different, you know, animated Pokemon films over the years, but we haven't really had a live action one before. And I think that might be a reason for that. So yeah, this is definitely a trailer. That seems interesting. I'm intrigued with Ryan Reynolds in it. Because usually it's McCain knows what he's doing. I mean, we'll let hit men's buddy go to the side that was terrible..

I don't know who's one who was the nickname because it's not me 'cause I'm not clever like that. Well, we always just kind of like think about. I mean, it's both me, and Jeff I mean, you help to you help to all right? All right. We gotta work on this. We gotta work on this whole to the abandoner. I don't know. Good. That's a little too on the nose, right? All right are big news talked about Stanley last week. So we're not going to talk about it. Again. What what the big news is. And especially if you're following Twitter hash tags and things like that. The big hashtag this week was danley after that though was detective Pika chew. Yes. Words that came out of my mouth. And there are a real thing. Nobody understand the wizard coming out of your mouth. So detective Pika chew is a live action movie based off of an intendo D S game where you know, what I was really skeptical until I saw this trailer. This trailer has me rethinking your priority choices and everything life, the meaning of it. And all things got quite profound impact. I mean, here's the thing. I don't love Ryan Reynolds. I just don't I don't like deadpool. I don't maybe maybe he has become deadpool and that is. That could possibly be it like he doesn't just play him. He is him. So that I mean that could be but I'm like detective Pika chew with Ryan Reynolds. I don't know about this. He's going to be too goofy. And yeah, you're right. It is deadpool. So the the premise of this movie is there's this kid who I say kid, but he books young. But everybody looks young me. Now this guy this kid was in a in a Netflix original show. Call the let down the letdown. No, it's it was some like. No, it's not the letdown. Something down the down blackout. No. It was a it was a show about like the rap movement in the seventies. And he played a little kid. That was like starting. The rap movement down. The lowdown is what it was called. It only got one season. He. He's he's a police officer. He's a legacy police officer now and Ken Watanabe with all of his gravitas welcomes it into the forest, and it's like wait can about Nabis in this. Okay. He's I mean, he's been not doing serious roles lately. But he's but in so he he's there. And then all the sudden you get detective Pika chew up. He get you speak into this guy's house, and this guy this new police officer can understand him like not just Pika Pika magic. He understands the words that are coming out of his mouth. Had to be to that one. Nick, nobody else does. And so that's kind of the running gag thing. Everyone just hear him say peco and things he's so cute. But as really Ryan Reynolds, so I expect any inappropriate jokes coming out of his mouth. So that just makes you think I wonder if like Pika chew in like ashes Pika CHU is actually just like swearing at him the whole time, right? How dare you do this to me? I I I don't wanna be trapped. I'm not your slave Pete capi. Yeah. Seriously. I'm I mean, I'm gonna watch that show at a whole new light. Now. Right, right. So yes, the detective Pika chew. I I like there's not much to say about it. Because there's only one trailer. There's only one trailer. No it looks. It looks great. And in some ways like while. I was watching it was like, oh, this is kind of like. Pokemon go super plus because you actually get to see like the VR or the augmented reality in actual reality is not occur to me. It's not a cartoon..

But it's about good it sits a fun little watch the other thing that debuted this week that I didn't care about until I saw the trailer. It's if it's what I think you're going to talk about it, so manipulative, I couldn't stand it detective Pika chew. Oh, no. That wasn't it. Okay. Detective Pika chew. Now. I I heard Ryan Reynolds is in this movie. And it's detective Piquiachu. That's all we do. That sounds like a whole movie the whole movie now town stone, it sounded dumb until I saw the trailer. Detected Pika chew revolves around the relationship between Tim Goodman and Pika chew. K now here's here's the. Here's the gang of the movie. Yeah. Humans live in a world where Pok Mon exist and live side by side with us. Okay. The other gag is. What do you know about Pika chew little yellow rabbit looking creature and only says he Kapika? Yeah. That's all I know about him. Just like is there a backstory, squirrel, squirrel? Only says, squirrel, squirrel. K which is kind of sexual I think in a way. So the gag in. This is is that this guy.
