"Have a very difficult drive going today, Colleen, a couple of different places of first of all going to start with those of you trying to get out of Pierce County. Not only do we have the normal, heavy slowing on the northbound five drive through Tacoma, but we have about a 20 minute delay from Tacoma to federal way because of this three mile backup heading up the hill out of fight. Past the scene of the crash near the truck scales, which has been over on the right shoulder almost most of the morning. So deal with very heavy slowing mayor sticking in Pierce County eastbound 5 12 is jammed heading From Canyon overthrew South Hill and then down into the Puyallup area. We have heavy slowing on the Valley Freeway heading up out of 4 10. Give yourself about 44 minutes to go from Puyol up to rent it now up in King County, the North Bong. Five drivers got about a 4.5 mile backup from South Centre to just after the Boeing Access Road. The crash that we've been dealing with here has been blocking the HIV lane and the left general purpose Lane for the last little bit. The left general purpose Lane has reopened, but either way, we're backed up solid in a 20 minute delay there, too. South Centre to Seattle is running at 40 minutes. 55 minutes all the way from federal way. So the I five work down corridor is pretty well messed up this morning. The rent of the Bellevue drive looking at about 40 minutes. Right now, that's about average across the lake. We're good. However, coming down out of the north end. We're really jammed up trying to get through the Mill Creek interchange through the Lynwood split. What we had is an earlier crash on four or five southbound just after the I five ties into it there in Lynnwood, and that's backed this up onto the I five corridor as well. So give yourself 45 minutes for both effort to Seattle or ever to Bellevue. So today is a legit back to school. Cut the drive out there for everybody. So Take it easy. You're going to probably be delayed where you're going. Car radio. Real time traffic on the threes. I'm Chris Sullivan. Thank you, Chris. She also made another push for Americans to follow public health measures in order to add another layer of protection. Former President Donald Trump. Second impeachment trial is now in the books, and that should allow current President Joe Biden to get back to his agenda. And ABC News correspondent Elizabeth Scholesy who covers the White House is on the R news line this morning, Elizabeth What's the focus going to be now that this distraction is out of the way? Hey, great to be with you guys. So it is all about this coronavirus relief package. The President Biden is trying to push for the packages for nearly $2 trillion in economic relief. We know that it's making its way through the committees in the House. Right now, and President Biden is that's what he's he's focusing on now, he says. We need to address the pandemic. We know that throughout the trial, he really did stay away from commenting on the proceedings and essentially said his priority as it's been from Day one is getting the pandemic under control and trying to get the economy back on track. There were some pretty dramatic twists and turns in the impeachment trial over the weekend, did President Biden comment after it was all said, and done? You know, so he did. He did release a statement at the end of the proceedings, essentially striking a pretty solemn tone about what we saw Throughout the week he focused on the violence of the Capitol attack and said, This is a time we need to remember and move on and come together After this, you know this dark chapter. He did also make a point of highlighting that seven Republicans, of course, voted to convict former President Trump, which was of the most bipartisan impeachment conviction vote. In history, And then he actually used Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell words kind of against him and saying that even those who oppose the conviction still think Donald Trump was guilty. And so he's trying to use that as a way to say we can come forward, even if the vote didn't reflect that kind of immunity. Bipartisanship. We're starting to see a little bit of a pattern on weekends with the president and first lady reacting like many Americans do after a long week and just sort of chilling out what did they do over the weekend? We are so so President Biden was at Camp David over the weekend. He was keeping a very low profile. We we didn't hear from him publicly, and he's not going to be back until this afternoon. You know, spending the holiday weekend like many of us would have if we weren't covering the impeachment trial, But certainly you know, a lot quieter on the weekends at the White House, and it was under the Trump administration, and this is something Many had expected from President Biden. I will note that he has a busier week ahead. Now he is going to be making his first official trip of his presidency tomorrow to Wisconsin, where he's going to be doing a town hall event. And on Thursday he's also going to be going to Michigan to tour a Corona virus vaccine facility in Michigan. So he is still ramping up the agenda a little bit during the week, but certainly quieter on the weekend Here in Washington. I am asking us citizens, all of us. To do better and be better when it comes to the disrespect the police officers. I've seen it and I check it every single time. You guys sometimes call them pigs. You guys call them wimps. You call them out of their names and his disrespect and it's wrong. It is wrong to whoever that person was to get in front of that Police cruiser. It is wrong to go and bang on their cars. I am saying that we have her. So we have to stop with the single disrespect of these police officers wanted to offer it is bigger than them. Cold front brings chance of lowland snow early next week to Seattle
"Dark skies overhead. But if you look up, it's nice and story for most of us if you don't have some fog in the way by now, temperatures currently in the thirties for most of western Washington, so we've dropped back quickly because of the lack of cloud cover a nice, steady barometer. Look at that high humidity that was signed that there's a lot of moisture looking around out there, and at times it's gonna Start to grow into a little bit of fog for US satellite radar picture shows the clear skies that most of the region is enjoying tonight. And actually when it's story like this, especially on a winter's night, and especially when we've had days on end of rainfall, it's still sitting in the soil there. It coaxes it back out in the form of some fog. So that's gonna be an issue for some of us early tomorrow morning Temps right now, primarily thirties, although Bremerton pretty stubbornly hanging onto that 40 and Port Angeles at 41. Noticed a coma is the cold pocket there. It recorded the only 31 degrees and you can see that's exactly where we have some of that fog growing in Pierce County, so the two can combine forces there, join up to give you the freezing fog in the black eyes. You see fog here overnight. I just count on the fact that it's probably also slippery. So the big weather maker right now high pressure building in over the West Coast. Of course, it's caused all kinds of trouble across California with those gusty winds and the High fire danger in the bay Area and back into L. A. Given that it's January. It's a bit unusual, but that's how it's shaking out. We also have these warmer easterly winds for one more day tomorrow and then as we head into the afternoon to see the increasing clouds over Vancouver Island, Little bit of rain there on the west side of the island to ultimately that sensor for the rest of us as we head into the middle of the week. So with that overnight tonight, we drop into the thirties, especially concerned about Pierce County because of the fog in the freezing fog. It won't last long will burn through it pretty quickly. We've got a terrific Tuesday for you. It looks a lot like today. It will be a little bit breezy in the foothills and noticed that warmth The easterly winds tend to warm up even clone is across so you'll be closer to 50, whereas the rest of us will make it just into the mid forties. Breezy easterly winds coming through the strait in the morning as well to the tune of about 15 to 25 MPH. Will also come down slope from the Olympics and that tends to warm up on the way down. So forks he end up in a gorgeous 51 eastern Washington not benefiting from the East delays, in fact, so still that the false starts to become an issue again for some pockets, including the Yakima Valley at 43 up over the Cascades. It was fantastic of the ski slopes this afternoon. Why not do it again tomorrow? Loads of sunshine temps back in the thirties and all of our resorts by Wednesday that remember on the future cast Tuesday. We started Cloud NEP over Vancouver Island that rolls into western Washington Wednesday into Thursday breaks just a little spring collection. Compared to what we had earlier in the month. This is a really weak disturbance. But then we start really losing our warm Sunday and Monday. That's the best chance for some spotty lowland snow. It looks like we get cold just while we lose our moisture but at least an inch or two possible in some of the foothills by early next week.
