"But I'm good to 83605 90. Now you are tired of line. You've got stuff planned already for Valentine's Day. Not a thing. Not a thing. Listen 605 Jeffries He's done prior today it's the kind of dog show in in you. You could jump. In this tree house of love at 512836059 Come out. Yeah, We're here till six PM today. I mean, 10:10 a.m. and I just wasn't pm just did I miss a meeting? Was there just something in my head that just I don't know what happened there. We have a new a new hours. Maybe I was just just had a little something going wrong in my head. Maybe a synapses. You know something? I don't? I don't know. I don't know. Just talking on the radio. That's yeah, I'm doing Okay. Listen, you heard they're in the news. It's possible that what do you see in County Commissioners Court today could vote to hire legal representation to fight Austin's purchase of the Candlewood Suites there on Picon Park Boulevard. Now we've heard from many of the stakeholders in this we have heard from City Council member Mackenzie Kelly, who's fighting for a delay. We've heard from a few. What do you see County commissioners, You know that have called our show talking about this issue kind of snuck up on him, and there's no no discussion. And whatsoever between the Williamson County and the city of Austin. Never sloppy. Candlewood Suites is in the city of Boston proper, but it's also in what he wasn't counting. That's why this is an issue. They're gonna turn it into a homeless shelter. We've heard from Frida greatest restaurants right there next door and RuPaul from the Hampton Inn Suites right next door. I mean they share the same parking while the county will consider filing a lawsuit to prevent the city from operating or using any property in the county. For temporary or permanent housing for the homeless. Yeah, so this may not even get off the ground. This may be all for not and now a judge may step in and offer some sort of delight. Now that Williamson County is considering a big lawsuit to stop this, I think Williamson County has legal ground to stand on here. They weren't even consulted. They do And you know, there could be some zoning issues here is well, I mean, it sounds like the city really didn't look into much at all other than we want that hotel and we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna you know, pay too much for it. Um I don't know why they just don't move on and look for other property. It is this really the only property Unless unless your theory your theory about this being part of a much grander, bigger plan that really has nothing to do with the husband of a coach. Next, the rewrite of our land use codes and these transportation corridors. Otherwise, I think that you know, there's a lot of hotels like these around. There's a lot of other possibilities, so The fact that they're so hell bent on this one. It's suspicious. Yeah, it does raise an eyebrow. Listen, you could jump in. We'd love to get your thoughts at 51283605 99 11 callers in Austin or being offered 1/4 option when they dial for help. Mental health services. A PD lieutenant Ken Murphy manages the Communications center and says they started that at the beginning of the month, and it's already filled in about 83 such calls many times we have people just calling up because they need to talk to someone. And so we will defer those callers to the counselor and the counselors are employees and medical care who are on site in the operations for Down now, he says. Police do still respond to some calls, but only when a crisis counselor from Travis County's interval care Cantor when the situation is deemed to be too dangerous now, basically when you call 911 Fire police GMs are mental health care. That is the fourth option now and and this may be the only city in America that actually does this now, you know, And hopefully this will lead to Maura of a proper crew of more of a proper response to a mental health call. We don't know doing well. It's kind of an experiment. Yeah, about it, because this hasn't been done before. So it's kind of a test. No. Let me get your thoughts. Your reaction 51283605 92 609 in time for the rush updates now This is incredible. It's 10. 0351283605 90, The Washington Post, says Senate Democrats Now we're thinking about a rapid fire. We're in. We're out. Quick Impeachment trial for former President Trump one week rapid fire Which to me? Kind of goes against them, saying how important this is that this has to be done. This man has to be held accountable. It is just of utmost national security that we do this, but we wanted in and out in a day or two, you know? Well, it's just kind of worked through all of the stuff. Hey, I don't think they should be doing the trial to start with. But if you're going to go ahead with doing the trial, then do the trial the right way. Yes, because the framers considered it a measure of last resort, a very serious method that should be used in very rare circumstances. They didn't want it to become a once a year twice a year kind of a measure to remove the president from office. It should be rare in case of emergency, break the glass and remove the president. So you make a really good point that if we're going to engage in this super serious process, do it right. But they're now considering a one week process, and most of it will just be watching videos that are being produced right now by outside firms. Yeah, And, uh, to me that way. We know we saw it. We all most of us now. I won't say all because there were some that participated in this, uh Most of us watch that and we're disgusted by what we saw. We didn't agree what was happening or why it was happening. And we we we were watched it. I don't know that we need to watch it again. Um, we don't get a vote anyway, so it's really all about show, but there's I don't know how replaying that They think they're going to change the 45 minds of the Republicans who voted that this wasn't constitutional even have a trial. They're not. So it's all about just putting those images out there again again. It's all about politics. It's not so much about. Are we doing right or wrong? It's about we have to show this again. We need to tie this back to former President Trump and we we have to make sure that this is in their minds, but only you know, within a couple of days or two. Well, it's clear now they're not going to get the Republican votes to convict him and without a conviction, they can't approve the measure to bar him from holding office in the future. So now they're they're looking at other ways to get to that point where they can bar him from holding office in the future, And they're looking at the 14th amendment. Can we somehow pass a resolution of censure in the Senate and crafted in a way that would bar him from holding office from now on? Right. No one knows that. That's constitutionally. Even some liberal constitutional experts at Harvard are saying. We're not convinced that you can do that to former President Trump under the 14th amendment. So they They're in a quandary. Now in the Senate, they're not quite sure what to do or where to go well, and it sounded like to me that The trial will happen, And then once they don't get that conviction, this would be the next route that they try to take. And Again. It's century. Yeah, it Z that great area is any of this even constitutional to keep doing this. They're in point there in game is to bar him from office again. And so I feel like They're not going to give up that until they feel like they have tried everything that maybe at their disposal. Whether it's constitutional or not. Bernie Sanders is joining the Democrats who now favor a very quick trial, he says. We need to do this as quickly as possible, and then it started addressing the needs of working families. And Chuck Schumer is quoted in this Washington Post article is saying most of it will focus on the video that's now being produced. We're going to show videos, all of the members of the jury the senators were here. We lived through this. We don't need a lot of witnesses. And arguments will watch the video and then make up our mind. I think you do need to allow, and I think you have to allow the trumps defense team too. Have arguments on this because we're now hearing some of the individuals that have been arrested and charged with taking part in this. We're hearing some of the information coming out on them like when they started getting together. And when this thing was started to be planned, and it wasn't at least when I look at the date, one of the dates that sticks out is November 9th. That there was talk about going to the capital. Stopping these Politicians from legitimizing the election on November 9th. I can't I mean, I. It's been a crazy the last few months while the level for the last few years I don't even think that November 9th. We had a clear cut winner for the presidential elections. So to say that what Donald Trump coming out and saying it was a stolen election. These guys airplane landed on November the ninth. I don't know that you can say his words inside it. That planning which then is why we have the capital violence and that's what they are impeaching on is that he incited this. A four count indictment unsealed yesterday in Washington, D C. Alleges that three of the people now charged with breaking into the capital and rioting Started planning on November night. They live in Virginia and Ohio and that they conspired with other people to meet on the sixth of January. And attack the capital. And they go into a lot of details about these three people and some of their training sessions ahead of time. But Melinda's right, the government is building a case that this this was not a spontaneous action by these people who attacked the capital after they heard the president's speech that day. It was in the works for a long time, right? I mean, you're talking six days after seven days after the election. They were already planing this Did was Donald Trump already they had, he said, enough times it was stolen again. I'm not even sure we knew the actual election results. We were still waiting on Georgia. For goodness sakes. I would anticipate the House managers will try to make the case that.

The other hotel on Burnett will now become property of the city after a vote of approval as we continue these conversations About people experiencing homelessness way really double down on having robust conversations about addressing our house in crisis in our city. There you go. That story there from Ktbc. Do you have a question to Simon Owner? Yeah. Wow. Just kind of hit me. I'm a hotel owner. Can I go stay there if no, No, no, no, I'm an owner. I'm an owner. E. Don't think you want to. Yeah, For the first time. I'm hearing them Well, it's an 83 room hotel built in 28 teams expected to cost $9.5 million. The memo says The property is expected to provide 80 units of permanent supportive housing talking about that. You know that new place that they're going to buy up in District six. There's this would be one that they're gonna by next week during the City Council meeting. And for the first time, they're actually referring to that as permanent supportive housing units, even in some guest rooms, possibly being converted into additional common areas are office space. So you know, for weeks they've been talking about this being transitional housing, meaning you might stay here for a few months. But the goal is to get you into something permitted. That's what I always took it as but now there's using the words permanent, supportive housing. Does that mean it's never going to go away? Well, I mean, seriously, I mean, now that we're buying these hotels, right? Is there a plan to no longer use them is homeless shelters down the road, so that would be nice. I mean, is there a strategy to not need it? I seriously doubt that I seriously doubt that. In fact, I don't think there's much concrete strategy beyond Hey, we have another hotel and let's figure this out as we go make it up as we go. You know, I I I don't have a long history or any history for that matter of rehabilitating homeless people taking them off the street, and I don't have any history and not much knowledge. But but Do. I can't do math. Somebody record that somebody pulled that off like that? Right there. I can't go and I was suggest that is a good cut us well, But I can't do math and given what we're paying for these hotels and what we will continue to pay for these hotels, I guess going forward who knows how many they plan Total buying up? It seems like every time we start to get irritated, they buy hotel and think that we're gonna be pacified by that. It seems to me that they could take these millions of dollars. Whatever we're up to. Now, I guess we're probably close to $20 million in hotels so far, why couldn't they just build one really, really state of the art facility that is going to be the Austin Homeless resource center. Whatever it is, we need the arch, but I'm no, I know what you're saying, but that one let's start from scratch on something that take what we've learned from the arts that did not work where you want to put other we wanna put listen. Just just understand the concept. Well, put it at a place where you could put it, which is on the outskirts of Boston or on the edge of Boston. On and start from scratch. I think that that would be money better spent, and one centralized location where it's easy to focus and you can really, really have a more controlled situation. I don't have faith that this is a good ideas at all. 7 12 and you could jump in at 51283605 Niner. You got lunch plans today. You should the boat 80 exits, crawfish season buddies. You got to get there for lunch today, man. I gotta check out that patio that deck crawfish, catfish shrimp, and they got it. All The gumbos outstanding is outstanding. And I hear they got a good cheeseburger, too. I do hear good things about the cheeseburger and I want to go Try that next. In fact, you know, I need to go there again pretty quickly here the cheeseburgers.
