"Bizarre. Mental behavior is happening where you look at people. in connecticut. Hartford are in twenty twenty one. They are hard to realize fans. And how does that jive you know teams about to be twenty five years outside of the nhl and not did not exist for we'll have not existed for twenty five years on april thirteen. Twenty twenty two and people in hartford are going to celebrate it and they're going to celebrate the team and so obviously peter criminals wanna know part of the wailers brand. Tom dunton wanted a big part of the railway friend. I think it is a. I think it's just one more unique element of the story because the fact that the team in hartford that doesn't exist is more popular than the team that is brand wise on the ice or or certainly when they pulled the whalers jersey out of the to your your your analogy to. They pulled it out of the the attic. You know the people in carolina told me straight up. They said we were. We were not branding. We were not at brand in the nhl that we had the leaders of this and tom dunbar team and models wouldn't obviously i said he gave hartford and he told me straight up he didn't like seeing the wailers jersey on the ice and i'm sure there's bitterness there for that but they they use it they. They have been out of the playoffs ten years and they felt they needed a marquee night to grab the attention of the nhl and they did it. On december twenty third two thousand eighteen and john forestland was fortunate to speak with for the book. Who you know the great voice alveda seattle cracking. And the you know who called games in hartford who call games carolina Said they needed right. Rogers said they did right and and it was. It was but at the same time to your point. I tend to think the hartford whalers somehow live just in hockey fans in general because they you know whatever your rationale for putting on putting on willie's jersey for putting on a whaler t shirt for you know flaring brass also known as evening beat The official title of the song by Jock say it's a You know you're you're doing it for a nostalgic element. And i think that's where the will is will live assuming they're not gonna come back to to play in the nfl. I would say you know. And that's what i think. The people in hartford one. And that's where. I think i was thinking about it today. That the psychology of this is bad and and the alumni mentioned the alumni the high profile alumni guys like kevin dineen. Guys ron francis. "I would say probably did not advocate how this eighteen even raleigh north carolina Because these were things that were that were planning anyway because once they got other the johns it all started that in the nineties. They had a vision for the nineties. They wanted to to max out. Tv and they wanted to get new markets. And you look at some of the places where wayne gretzky toward and matt and mary utah toward and the rangers played some games. It played the kings in las vegas caesar's palace outdoors ninety one in the preseason. They went on a barnstorming tour in the preseason the way they played in miami where they played at phoenix playing sacramento. They haven't ninety three ninety four season where they had the the the The neutral site games in places like cleveland in sacramento and peanuts in milwaukee to sort of assess what markets worth expanding too. And i so. I don't think that. I don't. I would not label him the villain in this regard. I think the economics of hockey really just changed and it was a point. And it's it's ironic because if or if the whalers had weathered the storm pardon the pun had whether the storm of the nineties and gone through their side of of the revenue sharing salary cap Higher tv money Days of today they could donnelly play. They could thrive and you look at the penguins mentor and the sabers went through that and they were bankrupt and they were going to kansas city. Both of them are one of them was was destined for there but unfortunately the the three what teams didn't didn't last for whatever reason but But i would say the the whole paradigm shift really predates batman. He's quite the villain that people would label him out. Although gary bettman certain leaning into being a villain so Apparently call them. What whatever you you. what But i would say you know. Pardon the long winded answer. I would say no in terms of And his influence on getting not mad harmony all right so somewhat related and this is kind of a question. We tend to ask Folks for situations of teams that were previously domiciled even whole cloth completely different sort of brand identities and all that and the and the hartford whalers now know carolina hurricanes right certainly qualifies for this right and it it gets back to sort of hinted at earlier right is sort of how all of a sudden screaming over the last couple of years. Even the hurricanes have leaned in and some suddenly have remembered that there was a team called the hartford whalers and oh by the way it just happens to be an hour our attic. Right of family heirlooms. I guess the question in there is where in your mind. Does the hartford whalers franchise kind of live in the history of it and all the records and artifacts. Is it the official place. That is the history of the nhl and the team in carolina or would people sort of in the hartford area those who remember and those who still lament. It's passing and revere it's memories do you think a kind of really psychically really maybe still lives in hartford and maybe still hangs from the rafters of the excel centre. Somehow there's a question in there somewhere. What of the previous version of this franchise. It feels hollow to me when there's a retro jersey in carolina when it truly has nothing to do with hartford and frankly i think most people in hartford push back on on that franchise even claiming some relationship too hard. I was thinking about that today. I was thinking about this today. Because i was trying to figure. 'cause there's there's there's a definite psychology you know for for anyone looking for a thesis or a psychology To explore. there's definitely.

"And and karmanos hates hartford Because it didn't work there in the government was was not did not play ball with him but But i think her mom is real. I was really happy. Speak with him because he's a he's a really unique figure in in hockey in the history of hockey because he's in the us hockey hall of fame. He's in the hockey hall of fame. He's you know he he. He was this first. Us owner of a of an ontario hockey league team. He bought the windsor spitfires. 'cause he's based in detroit outside right outside of windsor and he has this sort of he has this. It'd be these well respected by the hockey community. He's well respected in the united l. Gary beverage loves talks glowingly about it and yet for some reason. He moved his team from hartford carolina. And that doesn't stay any of it. You know he. I you know. I went to the Detroit suburbs to birmingham michigan interview peter models and he he pointed out in the us At the us hockey training center in plymouth plymouth michigan. He's as is right there. He again for his for his His great time. Owning the spitfires and developing the compuware program the youth program that became one of the standards in terms that were pioneer program in terms of becoming the standard of utah. And how things should be done developing young players and developing United states born talent. And again he is in the hockey all fan. And i and yet in hartford which again is so is also so beloved about hockey people. He's despised and you know he's persona grata You know people. He wouldn't get out of hartford if he went there and again it's he doesn't care but But i i think says he tried I don't believe people team to move it. Because if he did he would have bought team and moved it. I think I just think he's a he's a passionate emotional guy and he what he saw. He said he was. You saw government picking them out and it's weird to how they ended up in carolina because he wanted to.

"Buying jerseys way cheaper than you know than supporting a team for forty nine year. And i think that's where the whalers live it's sort of this fascinate you know. People want people love the logo. People love the idea of our as a minor as a major league city. But i don't think the people in connecticut they'd rather just put the sweatshirt on or they'd rather just put the hat on or they you know as opposed to putting in the legwork to make the team exist against and we can also be a little bit more Clear eyed about sort of the years that they spent in hartford right. I mean a lot of their biggest games sell outs. Frankly were when they were playing the bruins or the islanders of the rangers right. Which are the natural geographical rivalries. Frankly some often populated by some of those fans that that either got priced out of tickets at their home arenas are just felt like it was within reach right but i you know you mentioned the small town thing right and i and i get the new england and connecticut sensibility about small town. We're not know local yokel types yet. It was the smallest market right. The smallest arena. I in that regard. But i also think too it feels to me like there was also sort of a And it certainly was the case on the ice during most of their nhl. Elliot's for example for sure was sort of this. Underdog kind of They were the only american franchise in the what that survived the merger right and just by that definition alone in seventy nine right. They already had to prove themselves. I mean like from the get go right and it wasn't i don't think the. Nhl lovingly embraced these teams. That came came across the threshold into the league. And obviously we'd strengthen and had a lot of positive effects right but you know in some respects i think hartford kind of you know was was not necessarily looked upon as being i i don't know a full-fledged assumed to be fledgling member of the nhl. I think it really kind of had to go out of its way to to prove itself despite some of its successes and stability ironically in the whm..

"In carolina and our nhl fans generally didn't even know about this hartford whalers existence let alone its origins in the world. This thing called the world hockey association prior. So i mean i think the debate rages on it. I think frankly debate even in connecticut about how the team laughed. you know. Good riddance Now the third carolina did they do the right thing when when they won the stanley cup. In which is about a dozen years ago now and and not sort of. I guess bring it back if you will or more fully embrace hartford then when it occurred at all. It's a very intertwined complex set of emotions but it's certainly fascinating history nonetheless and pat pickens our guest. This week is here to help us. Scratch a little bit deeper than the surface into the history and the lower and the mythology and frank of the ongoing saga and story of. Let's call them the hartford whalers in our conversation coming up this very episode in just a few moments time fun and frivolity for all. And it's it's just it's a topic we love to keep going deeper on and we're happy to bring it to you again this week. In our conversation coming up in a moment's time how about a sponsor that will allow us to all celebrate and remember and and proudly emblazoned. Our memories of the hartford whalers. Let's go to royal retro dot com. Shall we royal retro dot com. The king of throwbacks. You may have formerly known them as 503 sports which is now a sub brand but they are now officially known as royal retro and row retro dot com as you probably know by now if you've listened to this show any of time obviously has great t shirts right so lots of great logos and stuff. They're fantastic of course. But as the name implies retro retro jerseys are one of the hallmarks of their offerings and in the realm of hartford whalers there are official guess. Nhl branded Where that you can get featuring the hartford whalers logo I know for certain that the carolina hurricanes are take very strong advantage of that and even with their their new throwback jersey Things i think adidas is doing There's those kind of permutations and you could buy this official things. That's fantastic good. Knock yourselves out but if you really want authentic original and meticulously crafted gear that would frankly put your Your friends to shame and frankly Allow them to kind of understand. Just how deep and original this inconsequential. Frankly this franchise was..

"We appreciate you. Stop it on by downloading us putting us in your ear buds however you are ingesting this week proceedings we cannot thank you enough and we're back into the fun story of yes. The hartford whalers the non nonexistent team jersey in the national hockey league. Yes despite the fact that the hartford whalers are now approaching almost twenty five years of not being in hartford but reconstituted as the carolina hurricanes the hartford whalers mythology and the history. The legacy the warm fuzzy feelings. All of those things still completely resonate not only in in connecticut and the hartford region but Among hockey fans generally and frankly around the world. I that this is a jersey. Not unlike the new york cosmos soccer jersey That can be seen despite teams not existing anymore worldwide. This is just a phantom for this team and we're gonna get into why that That mythology sort of exists with our guest. This week pat pickens. Who has a new book coming out. literally just came out a couple of days ago as we drop this episode. It is the first book devoted to the history and the The story of the of the whalers than the story is it's called the whalers the rise fall and enduring mystique could word mystique of new england's second in parentheses greatest nhl franchise and pats going to kind of get into A little bit of the story of how he came to To find This book that he couldn't find the book so he wrote it himself that's the old adage and day certainly can't came through a ten year odyssey to put this book together and we'll find out why and how and and the reasons and the rationale behind all of it but obviously it's the story about the the will is it something that we've nibbled at A bit in previous episodes We certainly highly commend either prior to listening this episode or as a supplement to it a couple of episodes two in particular Jerry peter the whaler guys episode number sixty two. I think they're still going at it with their tv show and in that sort of ongoing. Hope that Somehow harford will be made whole again with another nhl franchise or the return of the wheelers somehow some way and of course our extraordinary interview with the.

Well it it's complicated and this is an unusual book for me. as you know And it actually began a number of years ago at least as a the germ of an idea and it was something that grew out of books that i read years ago A particularly a novel pincher martin. By william golding. I don't know that book which i read. I don't know thirty years ago more forty years ago probably and it's a story in which you'll forced to reconsider the entire narrative when you get to the end of the book right where a world that you thought was real turns out to be in some ways not and this had always seemed to me a fascinating compelling kind of idea for a story and i've always loved seeing those those kinds of narratives not just in books piddles who in tv shows and movies Something that you think real you gradually realize is in some ways Some sort of delusion or constructive of either the narrator or character and. I had been thinking about this in the context of writing a school shooting novel and kicking around this idea in very vague general terms and and never quite figuring out how i wanted to do it and then A little over a year ago as you know I was involved in a school shooting at unc charlotte and that changed the narrative. The project that had been sort of on the back burner that had existed as a vague outline that revisited. A couple of times. The story that i wanted to tell became something quite different but it also became a story that i felt. I had to tell partly. Because i felt sort of trapped by the experience that had

"Offense a lean heavily on it. Our sophomore receiver. When the season starts Saturday. George Pickens only weakness is a freshman was himself and his anger. He certainly talented player, but you know, sometimes that could be a disease that George Kirby Smart finally saw. It all come together in a record breaking Sugar bowl from narrow until now, I've just been focusing on the team. So why wasn't that his focus before? I felt like I was, but it wasn't important enough to me as it was to other people. Hi-Performance Heritage - The 1968 Dodge Scat Pack

"WELCOME TO TALKING. Mo- parts high-performance heritage man. The world is crazy right now folks. And if you're like me you're probably sick of hearing about the worldwide. Corona virus pandemic. Here's the good news. There will be absolutely no fear. Mongering Kovic nineteen talk here today. I hope you're staying healthy and safe and I'm here to give you a little escape from the chaos by talking Mo- parts with you together. We'll try to get our minds off of all this craziness. Twenty twenty and talk about what I believe to be the greatest year in mopey history nineteen sixty eight. The year that Dodge introduced the scat pack to an entire generation of horsepower junkies and change. The world of MOPE ARE FOREVER. There are just certain aspects of Mope our history that truly made a significant impact and the scat pack of nineteen. Sixty eight is one of those things but before we get started with project carved the week rev up the show with high performance parts get moving with listeners stories and shut down the show with high-performance. Heritage. There are two things you need to know number one Chris at talking Mo- Parts Dot Com. That's my email number two two zero nine. Twenty eight Mo par. That's my voicemail. Your voicemails will be shared on this show so please keep them appropriate. And so will anymo- par stories sent in for listener stories. I'll even share the emails that I think would make fun conversation on the show now that we took care that business. Let's get this show on the road. This week's project car of the week was the nineteen sixty nine. Plymouth road runner posted on the moped. Hunter Page Friday March twentieth at nine. Am here is the at Nineteen Sixty Nine Plymouth. Road runner numbers matching Bucket Seats Center Council. Hearst four-speed three eighty three and ninety six package original rims and build sheet runs dry scraper. Twenty five thousand. Five hundred or best offer not interested in low ballers condition is listed as good an title status listed as clean located in Webster. New York. Here's the thing folks. I like this car. It's numbers matching. It's got you know some desirable options the bucket seats center console. It's a four speed. It's got the end ninety six package and the guy's got to build sheet. He claims that it runs and drives. Great those are all good things and for twenty five thousand you know. I think he may be a little bit high on the price. The color of the car is kind of like a dark Emerald Green which? I don't believe it was a factory color looking in the engine bay. I see that it's kind of like a flat black. So that's one thing that annoys a lot of people for me. It doesn't bother me that much unless it's a fully restored car and they cheered out on the pain on the engine bay and they went black. I don't really like that. But you know a driver quality card no big deal. That can always be changed later on down the road. The car is cool. It's got the factory tack you know. Obviously bucket seats the console. Those are all great options and ninety six. Who who doesn't love the Air Grabber Hood? Come on and it's got that coyote duster air cleaner. The car looks to be in reasonable shape. If you look at the pictures of the guy posted the car does not look like a rob box. So that's a good thing. I think that this car has a really good bones and for twenty five thousand five hundred. I think there's a little bit of room to work there. I would like to see the price around eighteen thousand. So that's seventy five hundred off which is a fat chunk of change. Let's be honest so you know around. Twenty two is probably realistic. Twenty three twenty four. Maybe I don't know but for me. I think it's a great idea to spend low to mid twenties for running and driving car that you can enjoy so this is definitely a car that I think would be a good car to consider if you have that kind of money to throw around in a moped project because running and Driving Project. Cars are amazing. Why because you can enjoy while you're restoring them or modifying them. Whatever the case may be so. I think this is a great example of a you know reasonably priced project car and it is numbers matching which is desirable. And it's got to build sheets so that's cool so you know. It does have a picture of the fender tag here in the fender tag. Looks rotted so. Hopefully you know with the information on the build sheet and the original fender tag may get a re- pop vendor tag made and enjoy the cars restore it. He's got some pictures of the underside. The underside looks pretty clean. Doesn't look like there's any cancer. Even the trump pam looks really good. So I think this is a solid car to start with especially if you don't want to invest ninety thousand dollars on a restoration this has really good bones and it's always a good thing to start with a project that has good bones because then you're not doing a bunch of metalwork on it and you can focus on the things that really matter getting it running and driving tiptop condition. You know this guy says it runs drives great numbers matching. You WANNA preserve that. Engine so Mike for me. If I wasn't going for a Oh e quality restoration and I just wanted to drive the thing. I just drive the thing you know maybe pull the original engine out and put something else in. That's von and maybe just start with restoring the engine you know if what you're looking for is an OEM quality build start with the engine get that restored and then slowly work your way to the point where maybe it's time to tear apart the car and do the paint and body work. That's necessary to get it. In Primo condition. I liked that the seller shared the Haggerty Vehicle Valuation report that says Twenty eight thousand two hundred on in very tiny apprentices average value. He shared that as like a selling point that prices based on opinion desire ability. And all that stuff. He's asking twenty five five haggerty's average values twenty eight to I still think. Lower Twenties would be a great price for this car. But I also wouldn't have a problem paying you know around mid twenties for it just because it is numbers matching. That's Kinda hard to find in today's market for a reasonable price. And you know some people say you know twenty five thousand dollars. That's not a reasonable price. Okay that kind of money. Well then maybe you should look at something a little bit lesser than a sixty nine road runner decent quality roadrunners and any decent quality be body. That's somewhat desirable. 's GonNa Fetch a lot of money in this kind of condition and you know that's another thing what what is a lot of money you know is five thousand dollars a lot of money because I see a lot of cars that probably were ten grand that people are listening for fifteen to twenty and the potential buyers are lookie Loos. What have you will say? Oh that's a thousand dollar car. Well is it. Is it a thousand dollar car? Do you know what I mean. So pricing and the Mo par market right now is kind of iffy. You see a lot of different people that say vehicles are worth a tenth of what they're actually worth and then you see guys that will say you know. I pay that for car. That's clearly not worth the amount that is being asked. So there's a for every seat folks and you know. Some people got fatter wallets than others. My Wallet is Slim Pickens. It's gone on a series diet as of you know and I say Oh yeah. I would buy that if I had the money. I don't have the money so me saying that. It's kind of like saying yeah. I'd I'd buy a charger Daytona with a Hemi. If I had the money you know what I mean so take what I say with a grain of salt but I've seen you know hundreds maybe even thousands of these cars were sales since two thousand fifteen when I really started doing a deep dive into posting all these cars and finding them and seeing the values and you'll hear stories about guys that go and pull you know roadrunners out barnes. You'll see oh. They paid five thousand dollars for it and restored. The car is worth fifty thousand or whatever? I'm just throwing numbers out here. But that's uncommon. That doesn't happen every day. So you can't really base values of cars on prices from back in the eighties and nineties. Okay it's not the eighties and nineties anymore. We need to stop thinking like that. These cars the numbers are dwindling. Every time a car is found in a barn in a field in a old garage. That's one less to be found. The market's really interesting and it really is hard to predict but I will say that they're never gonna be as low as what the eighties and nineties were. I don't care what happens in the economy. This economy could tank six feet in the ground. And you're never gonNA find a charger for five hundred bucks and if you do get on the show. Let's talk about all right because I like hearing those stories too. I have buddies that have paid crazy prices for really cool. Be Bodies and bodies. You know. They're out there. I'm not saying that they're not out there. But the chances of you running into one for that cheap pretty slim and if you do there's a lot of guys that will triple your money right away. You know what I mean. So if you're looking for a quick investment car. Let's say you find this car that I'm talking about here on project car the week and once five grand for it. Well I'm looking at the car and I'm saying you know eighteen grand would be steel. In my opinion you get this car for thousand and you could easily flip it for fifteen. That's a ten thousand dollar come up. That's ten grand right in your pocket. It is what it is. So that's project of the week. Nineteen sixty-nine Plymouth road runner for twenty five five air. Grabber car numbers matching three eighty. Three four speed. What do you want consul? This things got it all. Let's try to get it for less than twenty all right. That's project car of the

Proposed federal law seeks to limit skyrocketing salaries of college coaches

"Well anyway. I I call one of your stories. He's just week. We're talking about salaries and congress trying to put a cap on things and you. Did I think a an amazing. I don't know how you doug all this up. A deep dive live into the evolution of coaching salaries. Take us through that process. Yeah I one of the one of the most interesting thing about college. Football is how in twenty twenty I guess in our in our myopic nature point twenty we think that we all have these like little arguments novel discussion Russia. We've been doing this thing for one hundred fifty years at this point in time there are quite a bit of things that just are not new and some of that is complaining about too many bowl games but another one of those things is talking about how coaching salaries are way too high. I mean it's it's it has quite literally almost almost always been like this. I mean Amos Alonzo Stagg at Chicago making six thousand dollars in eighteen eighteen ninety two now I went back and use the consumer price report and price some of these salaries out in you know twenty eighteen at the time buying power. And you know. That's six thousand dollars. Amazon does stag was making then was worth like a hundred and sixty thousand dollars back in eighteen. Ninety two there has always been this separation between what highly paid college. Football coaches made Versus what the Common Man Colombian mix. You know I'll I'll bring it to your audience and hit them home like bear Bryant when he's doing. Brian show that that famous Sunday highlight show That that became formative so formative for a lot of Alabama fans. He wasn't doing that just out of the good report he was because he was getting paid there Bryan getting in pay. That's why I thought he. I thought you said he was a benevolent. So I believe you remember this because you weren't born but he also had to Eat the potato chips and drink cocoa which by the way had bourbon in it. Yes absolutely I mean like bear. Bryant was Bear Bryant was cheering the back right now. Yeah so I find it amazing we we. We had a professor on earlier who who was very much a part of the Donna? Shalala Team Wanting to limit coaching Ching salaries so When did they make the big turn? When did they start going? I mean as as some of the critics say out of control to me. It really doesn't matter what any of these guys make but TAKE A. When was the big turn? I think they really and truly exploded in the nineteen eighties because in the nineteen eighties. That's when that Supreme Court hate happened with like Georgia Oklahoma and you know they got. TV rights You know they divorced the TV rights from the NCAA and schools colleges then became able to go. She ate television rights As entertaining defended themselves. Obviously than we get into the CFO era and BCS. And what we have now where the SEC. Disperse what was it. Six hundred and fifty some odd the million dollars yesterday give or take a few million yeah To all fourteen member schools. I mean look. The bedrock of this cannot be overstated. The bedrock bedrock of this is this when you as an Athletic Department at Florida Alabama at Lsu is Florida state when you do not have to pay your labor force when you do not have to compensate you or athletes. That money has to go somewhere now. That money goes to beyond coaching salaries. I mean that's the facilities race that is everything. Everything that makes these college will programs at opulent as they can be obviously a really really big part of the PIE now. Is Coaching salaries. Now Coaching coaching salaries the early eighties. That's stuff starts to get reported. That's my really really starts coming into Coming into the sport in a way that it had really really before that By the time you get through the mid nineties Florida's paying Steve Spurrier the one of the first billion dollar contracts so that he doesn't jump to the NFL at that time honestly the NFL itself explodes. You've got that competition. So it's it's the competition that that spurs in any industry the street Salaries and money and will lose those things but the early eighties. I think is where we can really pinpoint when college athletics kind of started growing up from a from a fiscal standpoint talking to Richard Johnson from a better society in now we all know what is going on. I'm interested where were you. Were you sit on this. Because the the so called Donna. Shalala proposal We heard Professor Ridpath on this would would curtail a lot of things I find find. It somewhat amusing chancellors and presidents at Private Schools More so than public schools making. I'm five six million dollars a year We have an offensive and defensive coordinator is making major seven figure salaries I know is a highly paid journalists. Where we're we're are you on what Shola is is attempting to to do at least down one lane in Congress right. I think you have a good point. the the facilities boom and the salary boom of coaches collect directors and the things that we coach Sports Mirror. That of what we see on the institutional side at a lot of these verses and I think that is one thing thing that really gets lost you know like you said like g Foreign President of like West Virginia. Like these guys make guys and girls make six figures seven figures. There is a lot of money in higher education in the United States at the highest levels. college athletics is it is not an outlander But like studies have shown time and time again going back thirty forty fifty years that when your football all team is good when your basketball team is good It becomes you know they always say that is the front porch of the university. Admissions skyrocket when athletics. Do well and that is. Why a lot of these University of course than anything else I think? Put Up with and we'll pay out the nose for Nick Sabin or Jim Harbaugh or a Davos. We or whatever I think the dirty secret is is the weight from Ro a lot of these endowments in some of these very popular. Schools would shrink a lot more than people wanNA realize. No I mean just look around. I mean boone pickens. She died recently. I mean the the amount of money that he put into Oklahoma state and I don't I don't mean to disparage Oklahoma state in stillwater Oklahoma. Oh my been there. And if you haven't Richard Make sure that you put that on your bucket list. Wouldn't it wouldn't have had that type of money And and a lot of these Jerry Jones. He's given to the University of Arkansas. You can go down the list And I mean and it's because of one thing we're trying to win in in in college football or basketball depending on on on where you live and what part of the country you're in. Yeah absolutely I saw a stew. MANDL's works in the for pretty athletic. He He has a college pat column and somebody asked him Ten million dollars. What would you do with it to build a staff? And I look the question and I was like look man if you WANNA compete with Alabama Lsu Clemson Oklahoma Ohio state. You need more your salary. You Pool has to be bigger than ten million dollars. I mean on on its face. You'RE GONNA have to pay a coach at that level. Five five and a half six six billion dollars. You'RE GONNA have to pay your coordinators eight hundred nine hundred thousand dollars because Dave Aranda was was pulling such a salaried Lsu a few atmosphere necessarily because he was such town defensive coordinator which he is but it was because one opinions coordinator so that the only job job they'll leave for is a G. Five or or power five kids coaching job. It's got bulletproof coordinators. I WANNA lose them. I don't want to take collateral. If they leave me they gotta take step up so okay. You're paying both your coordinators Like one point eight billion dollars between the two. That's like eight million dollars. Just gone to the head coach in coordinators. Now you're in another like five million dollars higher director staff your eight assistant coaches which is all right. That's your ten assistant coaches You want to compete with Georgia Alabama. All right we'll have a party because you have to fill out the rest of those staffs with analysts. We assist tense You know you gotTa have a staff of three saw guys kind of the shadow. Coaching staff that that Alabama kind of those famous or infamous. No matter how how are depending on which by the fence you went on but You know it takes money to keep up with the Joneses and it takes a lot of line really want we national championship. Always great to have you on Richard other than chicken. What's the what's the second most favorite food that you'll be serving the super bowl party Sunday lady a friend is bringing some guacamole? "I did not go to see this year and I'm Kinda glad I didn't go to see as this year because we look at what's been written about what showed up at the twenty twenty three D.. Printing doesn't seem to be much. They're pretty slim pickens pretty slim. The first thing that at least in the article from Three D. Printing Industry. They Kinda I talk. Talk about the Davinci color the five day then. She's continually to push this notion of a color. Three d printer using inkjet technology. In which color is is while it's laying down the layer and it does work fairly well. I mean it's not bad it works. It's not it's not the highest quality color you get. It's kind of everything I've seen seems kind of bleed e eighty Kinda Fady you you put the color of the base. PLA which you have to use. There's it's kind of off white gray and that kind of changes and washes the colors that are being placed upon it but still bill. It's better than what you're going to get with. A multicolor multi multi filament color such as the pal the MU or tool changer right. It's going to be much much much much more detail on an f. d. m. for an f. the machine however I finally finally got to hear some I feed back on actually using these machines are are acquaintance. Joe Larsen who posted on our forms if you want want to hear in detail exactly what he wrote. Go on our three D. Printing Tips Three D. printing tips and tricks for him and look for Five D. printer thread. It's still up there. And Joe on the a fourth post wrote about his experiences and actually using the Davinci color printer things and he never has told us this before. Oh interesting so he's he's not very happy. He's not very happy with his experiences and it seems that every time he tries tries to use it some chip on the thing blows out now the chip. I think he's talking about is a chip on the SPOOL. Okay because the spools are shipped that was always the DAVINCI model for All their printers were were very inexpensive but then using Using proprietary trying. Trying to lock you at reprioritize filament. He complains that he buys a set of inks that are all brand new showing ninety nine percent full and then suddenly they show zero zero. Yeah plane and the the biggest problem is is that what he tries to contact. DAVINCI takes months to get fixed. Lau Amihai now now. He believes in their their methodology for color printing. And I think I do too. I think it's a a good approach to adding color to edit my the for some applications yeah not not not I mean how many applications really need hi Rez color in annual. I know but it's it's like toys and Hobby But you know it. It looks like it may not be worth while no As far as storing during the ink cartridges. It's going to be the same complication that as two d printing go dry thousand. Wear out quickly. It gets expensive very very very fast. They were supposed to send me one when it first came out and A guy exchange half a dozen emails with somebody at the at the company APP. Nothing ever never happened. But so yeah so if you're like you know rubbing your hands and they want to get that it's going to be like everything else. Take it with a grain of salt. You might be very reduce appointed right quickly and look at the look at the quality of the color you get on the on the prince because I found the of the quality of color. Kinda Canada's appointing. Yeah well it's kind of like if you take a regular peel print and color with like a Sharpie You get this kind of bleed lead affect yes. And and that's just the nature of of Pierre. Lay the layers just kind of wick. The the color and it looks at least from the samples. Apple's I've seen like it. Does that on this printer as well. The only way around that I know is to is to shoot it with primer and then it then it you know you can beautifully l.. Color it But this sprinters not they're just going directly onto the Palais. So there's GonNa be some

"Never won here so I have to say coach he punched me in the throat first referencing with George Pickens was pleading his case to Kirby smart they rule is this is why this is such a huge deal for Georgia he will miss the rest of this game and by rule be suspended for the first half of next week what is next week for Georgia the SEC championship game just another game the next game in the scale against bill issue and they're already going to be without Lawrence cager who's out for this season is Dan Orlovsky on Pickens immaturity and you show some maturity in some growth I can't you guys are here fighting and that most of the faces not fool you can't retaliate Mr first UCC title game next week when your if your George begins had one catch in this game for that which tied him for the team lead in receptions this year with Lawrence cager cage you're injured in practice earlier this week we're told is probably out a couple of weeks so we're assuming he will miss the SEC championship game and unless this gets overturned with some sort of appeal and having watched I cannot imagine how this would get overturned you're talking about Georgia trying to keep up with that Ellis you offense being without it's top two receivers for the first half of that game and they're they're more than likely only gonna get one of them back for the second half but this was just something you could not afford to do especially in a blowout game like that the only thing that could go wrong for George in that situation was either get someone hurt or get them suspended so what who is that good news for obviously bad news for George it's good news for LA shoe because there's less of a chance with that is the receiver does continue to diminish less of a chance you're going to be be buying already inept George offense although they have scored more than forty points today the other part about this is it's good news for Utah it's good news for Alabama it's good news for Oklahoma because of those teams win they certainly want to be in position to make the college football playoff in the only way that those teams would truly be excluded would be a Georgia upset win over LA issue which would mean Ellis your Georgia likely both make the college football playoff continue to update you there it's still a two possession game between Ohio state and Michigan forty two to twenty seven Ohio state trying to put another touchdown up on the board will update you on that next it's college gameday on ESPN radio up next a former player will explain just how important the iron bowl is which.
