Media Surprised by Tesla Registrations Despite Shutdown

"Everybody robbing our here today we were talking about a number of different reports on tests registrations in the united. States in the month of April and May tussle stock, despite some of these reports finished the day up one percent to nine hundred ninety one dollars, seventy nine cents that compared to the Nasdaq up zero point two percent all right so as much as I would love to skip this topic because I think a lot of us know where this is. Is Heading. Most of the Tesla headlines today are related to a Wall Street Journal article published this morning titled Quote Tessa Registrations Plunge in California data tracker, says and quote, then leading off the article with quote, registrations of newly purchased Tesla vehicles plunged critical California market over the past two months according to new data underlining the challenge chief executive Elon, Musk faces to keep investor enthusiasm that has helped propel the company's share price and quote the Wall Street Journal Journal cites data from Dominion Enterprises which apparently tracks registrations in twenty four states that make up about sixty five percents of the US market, and in those twenty four states they say that Tesla registrations declined thirty three percent to fourteen, thousand, one, hundred and fifty one vehicles during the first two months off cue to the media, then seemed to go full, shocked Pika Chew Mon and read a whole bunch of articles about this highlighting Tesla's quote, unquote plunging registrations so. So I thought had a little bit of fun with that with the today. Apologies for that, but the point here is that this should not be surprising at all. People seem to have forgotten that Tesla. Had Their factory shut down for seven weeks from late March to early May as we know. Tesla is somewhat unique in that their registration or sales, information correlates strongly to their production rather than simply being an indication of demand like we might see from. Cars we can easily see this in the inventory numbers. If we look at Tesla, they had twenty days of inventory at the end of Q. on of March that comes right from their shareholder letter, and if we look at a company like Ford, for example, they said that at the march they had one hundred days of inventory so twenty days of inventory doesn't get. Get you too far when you're factories, shut down for fifty days compared to if you had one hundred days of inventory in stock like four does according to Cox Automotive, many brands actually had more than one hundred days of inventory at the end of March including Honda, jeep, Cadillac, an Acura and many others, and then even on the low end. They have KIA as. As the lowest brand at forty three days, so Tesla's inventory is about twenty to twenty five percent of the average and half of that of the lowest other brand in the US. The other important consideration here when we look at April and May specifically for the United States is that because Tesla restarted production in early, may that only gave them a couple or A. A few weeks to be able to produce vehicles ship them over to Europe and have them delivered within Q. Two, so with that being the case, obviously a very small amount of vehicles produced in May are going to actually be allocated for the North American market, so yeah plenty of reasons for us to expect registrations to have been down year over year in April. April and May in the US definitely not shocked Pichu type of situation, even with all that being the case in the same article, The Wall Street Journal says that Dominion Research says that the industry fell forty three percent in April and may remember. They have tussled down thirty three percent, so even without much inventory, Tesla is still outperforming the broader industry. You actually interpret. Interpret this as relatively bullish report. The other thing that I want to talk about briefly is the actual number here. So they said that registrations were fourteen thousand, or so in the first two months of the quarter and remember that's four states that make up about sixty five percents of the total US auto market. Tesla probably penetrates a little bit higher in those markets. Markets, because it does include California, so if we assume that that's about seventy five percent, then that can point to a number of about eighteen thousand five hundred vehicles registered in the United States in April, and met now I'm not putting much weight into these numbers, but that number does seem extremely reasonable. We know that Tesla began the quarter with about thirty thousand vehicles. Vehicles in inventory, so if we assume about half of that inventory, or about fifteen thousand vehicles were in the United States at the end of March then for us to have eighteen thousand vehicles registered in the US in April, and may sounds like a pretty reasonable number, if tussle were to sell off some of that inventory mentor, and then we add in deliveries from. That are probably not entirely allocated for Europe as well as Mata. Why if anything I see this report? As a low weight indicator that things are roughly on track. One less thing. I wanted to point out on this. The street did run article separate from my page on this topic and I didn't really love the headline. They reach out me, gave me the opportunity to add some context, and then actually included all of my comments in the article on this

Victoria Chang: Obit (Part One)

"I rent her for the first time. After I read a review of her new book in The Los Angeles Review of books the book is called Albeit. It's published by the Wonderful Poetry Press Copper Canyon and I have been living in the wake of my parents death for some time and been living in an amalgam of grief and sorrow and memory loss and this book obe. It is remarkable book about the death of the poets parents written in the form of orbits of obituaries brief obits eventually as the book proceeds golfed is lost is language dies. The death of the parent is the death of much of what we value in life. If we allow ourselves to feel it now as I understand it this book had a burst of Creation. That led to your writing poem after poem after poem. What was that like? It was exhausting actually but necessary My mom died in in August of Twenty fifteen and it was so incredibly depressing in so many ways and the typical things that happen to people. You know you just feel so so bad worse than you've ever felt and could imagine that you could ever feel and I've always written as a way to sort of navigate the world but I didn't want to write traditional allergies for all sorts of reasons and so I just read a lot in those may be six to eight months when I wasn't writing anything in I read a lot of nonfiction. Actually so books about grief. Joan diddy in Meghan. O'rourke really wonderful writers. I I read them all and Sometime in maybe February or March I was sitting in a car and listening to NPR and Heard a piece on a documentary called obits in the documentary is all about obituary writers. And so there's just something about the way that that word just hung in my ears with that long and short t- that I went home in started just writing these obituaries. Pichu Aries for everything that we lose when someone dies and that's sort of what happened with this process. It was two weeks I hardly slept. Hardly ate ice just sort of kept on going and it was this really Cathartic Less Azeri process for my own grieving. Had that ever happened to you before a period of inspiration. That didn't let up. Yeah I after I had my children. I just didn't have any time left for any so I'm sure lots of people of your listeners can relate to that and Yes so I ended up writing. Starting maybe with my third book the boss which Mix Sweeney's did and I just you know right in pockets so any pocket that I can find if I'm feeling that I in that sort of how Britain since that book is in you know in cars in waiting for them to finish things and That kind of inspiration kind of hits me now in ways it. It never used it before. And I don't know if that's a function of just getting older or just not having time or a combination of all those things and feeling a lot more passion and deep nece and Emotions that I hadn't felt before when I was younger. This tawdry book bit by my Guest Victoria. Jiang was that rare thing for poetry books. It was useful. It was giving me instruction on because among the obituaries there are several that Vittoria rights for herself. The self who knew her parents who lived with her parents. You become aware really. That part of your grief is for the person you knew before who took it. As a matter of course that your parents might be elderly. They might be ill but they were always there and suddenly a language that you're used to speaking that you don't really necessarily regard is particularly consulting. That language is gone and you need. It's consolation anyone. Who's how'd anyone died? Hardly feels all of these things But I had never experienced that before and you know my father is actually still alive but he died twelve years ago in my mind because he lost all of his ability to communicate to me in ways that we used to talk In my mother you know used to have a very sort of our own language in many ways and it sounds so cliche but every single person I feel like we know where we need and we know well. We have our own special way of communicating with that person and special looks. You know little little ways of not saying things or just words that only use with each other and when they die. You don't really think about this when they're alive because you take them for granted but they take it all away with them.

Facebook's surprise hit Oculus Quest is sold out

"Offer just for talking tech listeners. So today we are at facebook in Menlo Park One hathaway and Sean and make with me they are Vr and our folks here that they oversee the oculus platform which turned out to be a big surprise smash hit at the holidays so popular. You can't get it. It's sold out for weeks but sean working hard. What MESSAGE DO YOU HAVE FOR FOLKS? Who are itching to get that headset on their head while we are making them as fast as possible also. Please stay tuned. Thanks all community for being really excited about this. We have been really a thrilled and really grateful for all the response Believe that it's about a four week. Will YOU'RE SAYING MARCH? That's right that's right. We are aiming for right now in March but We're still trying to work as fast as possible and trying to see actually how the Asia side with the current virus might or might not impact things. Let's talk about why it hits such a chord. Because you've got a a headset that did not have to be connected to anything. It sold for four hundred dollars and something happened to people that made them. I've got to get this thing. What happened yeah? It was really this coming together of a lot of things. So we've taken a lot of learnings from our previous. Headsets really tried to focus on this amazing sense of immersion content. And bring that to a new form factor. The second thing was really trying out all in one and we did this with actually our previous headset. Oculus go which is more focused on media but this was bringing a lot of the gaming side of rift combining that with the standalone form factor of Oculus go and then really trying to nail a great price point for consumers and I think all that came together in a really magical product oculus quest. We're proud of okay and games too. Because they going overseas the Games. Was there something new about the? Games in two thousand nineteen that that struck a chord or was it just the fact that you've got more well. It's both that we have more fantastic games coming to the platform but as you pointed out this is an untethered experience where you really can use that full range of motion to take advantage of these immersive games. And so you look at one of our top games on the platform beat sabre where you are effectively dancing and moving through the space to score points as these music blocks run towards you if you can turn three sixty degrees and you don't have to worry about a cord that becomes truly immersive and delightful experience. Megan your your vision is to start with games but really move into other categories. So explain how. Vr works in other media. There are so many use cases for VR. And we're so glad that the game category is strong and we can start with that but people who play games want to experience other things as well. So we're also investing in a lot of areas around media and around productivity and enterprise and one of the really exciting APPs that came out last year was National Geographic. Brought a new experience to go explore Macho Peach you and that's the type of content. Where someone who comes in for? Games is still gonNA love that and someone who wants to find those new use cases around travel or exploration. They're going to find something as well so explain how. How does it work? What are they seeing How do we explore Machu Pichu On a headset well once you put that headset on. You really do feel like you're transported to that location but you get the added layer of having information about what you're seeing you can learn in real time as you explore that space you can move through it but also see notes from famous scientists and explorers that help you understand that experience there so if you WanNa go travel there in real life which many people want to go do you have that. Added Layer of understanding. And if you can't make it there you still get a taste of what being in a place like that. Feels like. It's also talk about music. Because you're you're exploring concerts and make an jeff can go attend billy. Bush or some other concert together in the front row inexperienced together. Tell everybody about that. That's right. We have a product called oculus venues. That shows concerts sports comedy events from all around the world. People can represent themselves as avatars put on the headset. And then see each other in real time and jump in and watch those events so as you said we had billy eyelashes a performer in venues last year and it was really a special experience for people who hadn't seen her live to feel like they were there for the show with their friends but from the comfort of their own home five each other and do a letter. Well you can. You can wave. You can engage in. It is really special to feel like you're sharing that with other people in the space and back to Sean. Your vision is to wear a headset today. Where is it five years now? Yeah we ultimately want to get to a pair of glasses that lightweight. That's small form factor. You can wear your head

How to Transfer Pokemon from Bank to Pokemon HOME

"The Nintendo attended the S dos. Go Online and sending ten years ago. Launched these other original web service called Pokemon Bank which is like the predecessor of pokemon in home. So what they were able to do now with pokemon home. They have fool compatibility with Pokemon Bank. They have restored the puck him among banks service which you can now use for thirty days for free if you want to transfer all year old pokemon you better hurry because in theory it's free for thirty days so you can get all those on the. Maybe you caught in the days of the Gamecube and through some steps and there's GonNa be. There's youtube videos that maybe there's one then the Mike Or putting the Mike as the link so please put in because it's so fascinating You can transfer them from the from the Gamecube the GPA from the GB later than intended the s from the nintendo Ds to the original Pokemon Bank service and from the banks service. You can go to the three eighty s which is the successor to the D. S.. And then from there you can put them in parliament home and from Buckingham home if you want to. You can transfer them into the switch games so what talking here. Four five generations of consoles that are there now have some basic form of transfer between them for pieces of data. Because if you think about it. The pokemon is essentially a piece of data with the code and some abilities. And like Doc. It's it's a piece of data that can travel in time from the days of the Cuban the all the way to parliament home now and I think it's just incredible that you can do these any. It's complicated it gets complicated. If you WanNa do this whole thing you will need cables and old original hardwood but you can do it and in fact I am doing it. I still have my gb in my Nintendo DS and the three D. S.. I don't have a key again cube but I was able for example to get a my Pikachu Mike from Pok Mon yellow so this is the the virtual console version version of pokemon yellow of course That I had on the three D. S. that Pichu is now in my book him on home and I can transfer to him on sword and shoe that AH see. You went from the Three D. at some three D. S.. There's a a Nintendo made these. Utd called pokey he transferred Hooky. Transfer is basic emulates. What the Diaz was doing it recognizes if you have virtual console games installed on your the device and it says okay? Do you WanNa take these from the virtual console games and you WANNA put them in Pokemon Bank and then from there you just do the bank to home transfer So I have to get my three s now. Get your free the download pokey thorough and poking and poking mom bank you can find them on the shop Buckingham Bank. You can use as for free for thirty days again and then you just go from there. It's it's really remarkable to hear and it's so unusual because you know most of the time Vegan again companies they don't care about backwards compatibility but this is like next level. I mean there are a lot of like the issues with this which isn't perfect right and people are upset about and like some ways of wild some ways I do actually do understand but but just the idea that this exists like we need to step back and realize how incredible is that Nintendo in the puck among company are enabling this kind of thing because it's wholly unnecessary but amazing so yeah and just to give you a frame of Reference Pokemon Coliseum which was intended Gamecube game came out in Europe and America in two thousand and four so that's a sixteen eighteen year old game that in theory I mean in practice you can if you have the proper equipment you can transfer data from that game all the way to your I phone with the with the home app or to your Nintendo switch which is frankly. It's just a remarkable technical

"They put in his Pichu area that he died leaving a porno theater. So here's here's the thing that I found interesting about cold weather. Cities is that sweet tree like frozen desserts are very very popular. And that does tie into this week's chain but live live frozen. CUSTARD is not something. I've had a lot of and I mean I really enjoy it when I've had it but a coral Mitch have you guys had much frozen custard in your lives. I know I've had a shit done of ice cream right. I don't know if yeah I haven't had much frozen custard or maybe I have under the guise of ice cream. I don't know what's the difference. It's like a little smoother right like texture. I guess my question is what the fuck is custard. Heard and then to is. Maybe it's eggs. I've had like custard pie wasn't frozen. It was pretty. That's most of the context I've had custard in my life is not the frozen varietal but like the the they do the frozen stuff up here and it's I don't know I like it me to nick kind of bold stances you'll get from the doe boys it is. Do you like having something cold when it's cold outside because it's grown on me. At first I was like why would I want to have that. I Wanna like some soup or something like that. But now I'm like yeah I would want like a slurpee when I'm fucking freezing. Would you really like a cold cold stuff when it's cold outside. I don't know kind of matches the temperature. I guess it's good that it will never freeze it like it will never melt on you if you take it out into the cold right. So that's a plus side to it. I don't know I feel like I feel like it's probably also enjoyed in the summertime here right. And what's the temperature in the summer. Like thirty to forty degrees. The I don't like necessarily ice cream when it's hot outside right. Then you get that milk. after-taste yeah yeah you give them say yeah. I get what you're saying you know. Yeah for sure. The Longest Ever Pokémon Direct

"There's a pokemon directed that's going to be twenty minutes. It's actually longest pokemon direct ever by at at least again which is yeah. It's usually I think the longest before this was like sixteen minutes. It could be wrong but some something between fifteen and nineteen and that's not twentieth that which makes this the longest. The game is out. What could there be to talk about? So historically they released like pokemon bank and compatibility ability with Pokemon bank the January after the Games in the fall. Come out so I'm assuming they're going to be talking about Pokemon home which will be the APP places on Bank which lets you store your poke them on and then transfer answer your old pokemon into the new game so you can get them on like from pokemon. Let's go and Pokemon go into POK mon home and bring them over to Pokemon sword and shield from there and we'll they change. Asia might be working on the National Dick's now probably not just wishful thing. Who knows we might get a few pokemon that aren't in the sword and shield national decks as it is right now but and we don't know and it will probably be event only pokemon like maybe we'll be getting Melton Mel metal? Maybe a couple of legendary is these are all. I'm just guessing. I have no idea but that direct correct happened this morning. If you're watching on June ninth which is a Thursday so look Jan dot com for all the information about that. I know that we will have a very expensive Expansive wiki page on Pokemon home. And how all of that works. Assuming that's what it is about but I'm assuming we might also get teaser for something else. Like detective Pichu for switch which they announced last year pokemon sleep or maybe a new. Let's go game on the magic carpet. Jumping mini game reveal reveal to. Yes I that was fun mobile game and it was fine while it lasted. But hey you already know the note and the Jews and the like Nintendo game. That just has the Polka Mona. You you can hang out with and pet. I haven't. They know that they kind of did that. With like hey. Up Cashew way back at peak achieve an work though. I mean rain rain like I believe the microphone didn't have any technology inside is just like you I would say profanity in the microphone and get really. Yeah like you said you do that. I didn't curse him. I curse them because I wanted to see you get mad and use thunderball inside side of the House. Because that's fun thing to watch I would never want actual life but yeah hey you teach you making peachy mad by cursing at it also. Speaking Pok Mon there is little bit of other news Just so you know you have sort of shield. It's coming up to the end of some certain events. Some will end on January fifteenth. So this is is your last chance at getting Max butter free. That's sounds like a candy. Bar anticancer Max. Butter free where. There's no butter and all the Max WCHS calories. That's a good deal. Yeah hope butter and Max Calories. That sounds terrible. Why would you ever want to do that to yourself but these this event is just increasing the chances for these particular gigantic? How many years were you in dad married, I run nice to talk to you? I we won't marry for fifty eight. Eight years. But I wanna start with my history before I met here, and how I grew up, my what I was a depression child. I was born in nineteen thirty. My father had a job. My mother did not have a job and the amazing thing was doing the depression. If people were married, only one person was allowed to have a job. God are so few and far between. So I was very lucky. However, it was the depression, and we did not have a lot of money. My mother made all of my clothes for me because you couldn't afford to buy any she also all dresser that she made for me. "All right. Tim, really Pichu, really? And and Pokemon fan. Honestly, I've seen the previews for this. And it looks horrible. Well, you know, what it all back? If you have kids like me, I mean, I might kids are really excited to say, okay. This thing goes back a long way to the card game to the movie twenty one years ago, the animated movie the TV series, Pokemon go the video game. So it does have a huge fan base. I'm not among them. So I was wondering this to be sort of movie where I'm just gonna grown and actually not I really liked the movie because they put it in a live action setting instead of Pika just saying Kapika all the time. You had Ryan Reynolds talking and communicating with the lead character. So I love Ryan Reynolds. I love him dead pool. I think he's very gifted with improv. Clearly, he was doing improv here. And for what it's worth the movie was very entertaining. That's good to know. Because I guess maybe the preview it just seems so silly. But again, my kids know a little bit about Pokemon mom, but they're not like huge fans. Good thing is, you know, you don't have to have played Pokemon go or even played the Pokemon game or. Anything to really understand what was going on? And I think that was a good move by the filmmakers, so people like me who are coming in relatively cold. I mean, I've certainly heard a Baker to and all that before you know, where they actually form a story that makes sense the story is populated by these spoke Amman characters, and that's where they're appealing to the fans of the franchise. So I think it's one of those rare win-win sorts of situations where you know, you don't really need to know a lot to go in and enjoy it. Plus, I've been telling a lot of people I love watching my kids enjoying something like a movie like dizzy into it so much. So that's that's fun in itself. So I mean, if you feel like you're just being drugged by your kids to see the movie in drug along with them, or if you have to give them a ride or whatever just enjoy it. And the fact that they're enjoying it to advice, my friend. I may just stay home and stream this next movie..

"And no this was not an April Fools joke. This was real that they're making a sonic the hedgehog live action slash CG. Like to. Yeah. And the I mean, there's so many things that seem awkward about it. Not just the fact that sonic is kind of weird. Looking people are upset about the poke him on in Polk. Amman tickets you as well because they're all furry and kind of a little bit uncanny like half animal half cartoon, and I'm not sure either really works. I think the difference between detective Pichu. And this particular version of Senate hedgehog, though, is that they gave this son at character. A couple of of. I wouldn't call them realistic looking aspects. But like he's got the sort of long legs, which makes sense for a runner. But it's it's he doesn't look like a cute character. Whereas in on it, he well, I don't know. I guess it depends on what what kind of idea or are you looking at. I don't think he looks like the original Sonic's, but I get where they were getting that vision from so it's not it's not that so much as it's that I don't think sonic translates to live action as well as Pika does believe it or not because I didn't think Pichu chew would translate to live action. But it turns out he's already is so good in that role. Yeah. Yeah. And so I think the difference is that the characters the Pokemon characters detective Pika chew are cuter. Even if they do kind of like send you to a little bit of an uncanny valley. It's not as bad as what they did with on which they're saying they're do. Weird. I know I think that was the right thing, especially because this is this is gonna be. The the knockoff copycat of detective Pichu if you're gonna come in onto the scene and say, we're doing the exact same thing. But with a different character, it better be better than the first one that pops up and if if if right out of the gate, their first teaser trailer is something upsetting to everyone. It's gonna bomb. So I think they were smart decide to change that as soon as possible even counting will actually I think Jim Carey, Jim Carrey's. Character looks pretty good. He he kind of fits that mold pretty well. So I think it really is just the sonic weird long legged thing that just long leg long, arm and human teeth. I dunno it just didn't it doesn't look quite as good. So I think they need to squeeze him down a little shorter are sonic again. Yeah. Exactly. Let me take a minute to tell you about wicks wicks lets you build professional looking websites without you needing any tools or any understanding of how? To build a website yourself..

Google's sales swing and miss (The 3:59, Ep. 552)

"The. Welcome to distribute tonight Chiang, I'm offering Google's parent alphabet reported first-quarter revenue. The missed expectations earnings were hit by one point seven billion dollar e you find for practices. Amid all contras of what's interesting here is amid all the controversies around Google right now between their staff between ethics issues. They've always been able to count on their business. But even in this first quarter revenue did miss expectations and got slammed for it. Yeah. I think the big chunk of that are all of these controversies. But I also think it's interesting that no one's paying attention to their push into smart homes like making their own gadgets have their right made by Google branch with the pixel phone. They mentioned that they didn't sell as well as they had expected to either. No, that's a great point. They Samsung also reported last night also felt the same pressure particularly in the premium phone market is you're saying he's expensive phone. They aren't catching on with consumers because I don't think it's the controversies to be honest because Facebook undergoes these same controversies and yet they their earnings were up. Right. Yeah. So I don't think it's it's the controversies. I think it's pushing the hardware that's hurting their pockets. I think you're right. It's a really good point. They did teas. That there'd be more hardware coming for Google next week were expecting at least Michio pixel three phone. So maybe an affordable phone that affordable pixel phone that the consumers would actually wanna buy. Yeah. I mean, that's kind of how they found their hit with the Google home mini. I mean think about how Google home wasn't really doing that. Well, stacked up against the Amazons device for really long time. And then the mini kinda struck out for them. Yup. And keep in mind that before this whole pixel lineup. There was the next phone line franchise and those next phones were much beloved for the fact that they were Ford -able, also like amazing phones. All right next up while ways in the headlines, again, this time Bloomberg reports that Vodafone a back door vulnerabilities in some of his equipment far back as twenty eleven. This comes amid escalating tensions between the US. And while way and the CFO is still incarcerated in Canada awaiting extradition. What do you think? Yeah. So last week, the u k there was another report that the u. Hey would be allowing a way to build non-core parts of its infrastructure, but the officials from the department of homeland security at an event that I was at had mentioned that the still be a risk even though its non-core perhaps the UK government feels like they have found a manageable amount of risk because everything's gonna come with some level of risk. But you know, these reports like this don't really bode well for national security concerns surrounding wall way, a lot of security officials worry that you know, way is to close if the Chinese government and would be able to use that on five G networks to as a back door to spy on other countries. And the reports were interesting that, you know, Vodafone initially found some of those vulnerabilities while ways said, okay, we got this all fix and then they went back and actually look and those lower abilities were still around so deadly calls suspicion to the company. Lastly, can we talk about the sonic the hedgehog trailer? This looks awful. It's unfortunate that this is a podcast, and you can't walk. Watch this trailer as being unless you're on our livestream broilers. But yeah, I hated every single part of this. I mean, there was right down to the music choice gangster's paradise playing when sonic was running around. And it's just it's so weird to me because sonic has such a like conic, you know, low soundtrack. Yeah. Also. Yeah, why go with that song? When there are so many songs from like the sonic like discography honoree mino-, right? Where I say. But like there are two like poke Amonte like detective Pichu used like songs from yoga on the right? Hanukkah minute us like Coolio for this. Yeah. That's I mean. A love this is just contactable looking in. You know, Brian was saying this could be the next. Mario super. Mario brothers disaster. Yeah. I mean, honestly the coolest thing about this whole trailer was Dr robotic played by Jim Carey, right? I felt like they should have went the route of Sony when they did venom. Or I forgot what studios. I don't know if you're using venomous as a prototype as good movie. No. But like my point is is that they should focus on the villain store. Stay as a standalone movie. Joker sort of a background character. Yeah. Yeah. Don't give me live action Sonning doctoral robotic that's a cool. Like like, Jim. Carey looks the coolest. I don't know if there's a market peel for Dr Nick, I mean, look, I don't think song should be made it alive, actually. Yeah. It's just it's just weird. All right. More of these stories because on CNN and Roger Chang, I'm African thanks for listening.

"In an amazing way Z has a Twitter account with over twelve thousand followers and p Pichu has been featured on that account, and these followers have really fallen in love with people too. And they follow the story as pizza chew became ill and had a a hospitalization and ultimately guide and literally thousands of people on Twitter were morning along with me. And when I was looking for a way to memorialize Pika to in a special way, I was looking for something that I could do. Not only for our family, but something that could include our Twitter followers as well. Beyond. Space. "Man. Yes. A tough, sell, bro. You can sell them for a lot. If us checking for child molesters, that'd be probably the first thing I'd go towards Pokemon. No Pokemon movies coming out. And Ryan Reynolds is the voice of Pichu that I won't be seeing that that's a big role. I don't even know Pok Mon. I don't know. I know it's fucking enormous that big role the land taking my son to Spiderman tomorrow spider-man's coming out supposed to be a main cartoon cartoons. Like one of the best moves of the year. Really? That's a little young doesn't he talk and get. Professional, man. Movie that he likes like. Took him to wreck wreck it. Ralph two we took him. He's been a bunch of moving into this. Taking my son to that. Don't copy me though, you know, not that's cool though. I'm going to do that. Tomorrow. Do you got a quick up? Yeah. Have you seen the trailer? I know it is a blockade. That's really pretty awesome play it. It's pretty trailer. The enemy the reason why it's cool to me is they animation so much different than what you've seen before. That's not your normal animation. "I actually really hope they keep the core mystery of the same like, I know they can't follow each beat because it's way too long. And there's too many things I think would be maybe too expensive for them to adopt. I don't know that it looks pretty big. Oh, really neat locations really big Pokemon and that because the sheer number Pok Mon in detective Pika chew would probably be too many. And there's already a lot of things in this that are different from the game. I don't want to spoil anything or like reveal any of the bigger twists in case that that is a thing. But there are some references and actually the poster for the Ford undetected peachy movie that hint at things I did happen to the game some really excited. How do you like the voice of Ryan Reynolds as they don't be? So here's the thing. I think he's a fantastic actor, but it already feels like this is round Reynolds Pichu and not detected p to like the I joke that he lands is around rails joke. This is like a deadpool joke isn't a detective pitchy joke. Right. And that's I think what I'm most worried about going in this. They're writing this character for him in not as this character. I mean, that's that's probably fine for a lot of people. But for me, it's this appointing because I like, the Sassine is of detective pitchy in the games and his kind of weird old, man. Yeah. Likes women weirdly at them in but is hit on human women. Right. Favorite part of the? Yeah. But it's like very mild. It's just like what the heck does it in the train a little bit to you. But not to the same extent. And I just I want my Pika chew coffee tips. This feature loves coffee coffee. A cop. He'd better dude on the movie too. I think that like I was just sort of blown away by how much I liked the trailer because I think that sort of cynically I was anticipating. Just not being interested in in a detective Pichu film at all. But watching that trailer for the first time, it's like, oh, this might actually be great. And I think you really hit the the nail on the head like I think movies is going to print money. So it's going to be huge. So we post a we'd posted the trailer to all our all the platforms on it. It is our biggest biggest video on Facebook all year, and it's only been up week. It wasn't just like our biggest video. It's one of the it was the biggest video on Facebook. That was the number one video Facebook that day, and it was the biggest one fly genome Facebook all year. So that gives you an idea on how much interest that was the tone of the trailer to because you so a beat and excited, and they did it also looks grimy and grades. Yeah. That's what I was trying to what is it like enor- film? Yeah. Luckily, you You are. are. Not explain city is so much more gritty than isn't a game. It's like it's just like a pleasant town. This was like, oh, man. It's also a completely different experience to see it on the big screen. I don't know if you guys have had an opportunity to theaters, but it's pretty wild people share or what was the right cheered. When saw fantastic beasts crimes of ground or wonder, whatever his name, I I hear hear about about movie. movie, but it's awful movie. But the the detective peaky trailer ran in front of it. And I went with a group of people that are like completely uninitiated. Like, it was just like my pals that don't play games don't want it all and the reaction was like just a resounding what the F. Like, I I was sitting next to my friend. She leaned over to me. She was like this is real like what is this? So maybe not the target demographic there. But yeah, definitely gotta reaction at a people. That's for sure. I mean while I was over there. Like, yeah. You're so excited to see those again. But yeah, I think it's gonna be cool. "And the as cool as it is to see a somewhat photo realistic recreation of what the Polk Amman look like in the real world. It's also kind of jarring. So I I don't know. It's I I'm I'm intrigued, but also kind of weirded out at a peak at you look so fluffy, and I want I wanna I wanna have Pika chew after seeing the trailer. Yeah. The other Pokemon look a little weird bed. What are your thoughts on this? I also didn't grow up. I feel like I was just a little bit like a year or two too old for the Pok Mon craze when that happened. So a lot of people around me were sucked into that world. And I just never I've never played any of the games. I've never seen any of the movies or anything. I don't know really anything about it. So. You know, coming into this completely fresh, I'm sort of baffled by I think, but at the same time, I see the bones of like an entertaining movie here. I think it it does seem weird. We're talking about like, you know, this has been a worldwide phenomenon for twenty years or more than that. And this is the first movie that they make is a detective Pichu movie. It's really strange from a a business and creative standpoint, I think and just like a weird Hollywood anomaly, I think like this. But I agree like, the the character designs all seem kind of cool, and I imagine if I grew up with any relationship at all to these characters I would be like losing my mind like this looks. I mean, I I would think that seeing, you know, a chart or whatever I I would be kind of excited and interested to see how that character would be translated to the screen, so. Yeah. Just on an aesthetic level. I kind of liked the look of it. It's it's like these characters it's like rocket raccoon walking around in a blade runner or something. So are maybe like a maybe like Winnie the Pooh or something like a softer cuddly creature walking around in a in a Sifi looking world like that. So what do you think? Peter. I mean, basically, you guys have said what I think I also someone that didn't grow up Pokemon. We should have had HD on here because our our trademark millennial of the slash home staff. It she wrote up actually this great piece of looking at every poke him on in this trailer. Because there's a there's a ton. And I think in the show notes, but I'm very intrigued by this. I've actually talked to some people who saw test screening of this. And they say it's was actually a lot of fun. And they they said it was the best video game movie ever, which is. You know, high praise hasn't been that great video capability, but who would have thought the detective could you might be worthy of that honour. I'm curious to see it when it when it comes out, but we we have gone way over our time slot for today..
