"Us. This one is from charon wisconsin. And let's hear it. I know that on rose you can see what by suck connected. Is there a way to tie in. Your phone is to the network. Automations say temperature or lighting so that is all the moans in our household word not connected or if they all work they did something would do automated that. Thank you very much. It'd be are a amazon. How is that makes sense. So that's a good question. I scratch my head. Because i know what you're trying to do here. And it makes sense jaren that he router knows that a phone is connected to the network but the routers these days aren't they're not doubling as smart home hubs for the most part there might be some that have some advanced features but it's really not the same so i kind of rely mostly on. Gps and geofencing for this type of thing because a router is not gonna be able to say okay suzy's on the network in knows that. But now what do i do. It can't send any information to device to flip on lights or anything that that's just not a product yet. I wouldn't be surprised if that comes to routers in the future. I know some almond router in the past. Had this as well but what you could do is look at what devices. Do use geofencing and your amazon household. You said you can't do this in the madam a app but if you have a works with amazon thermostat. It likely has a home in a way that you can use. The phone's location to turn on or turn off. So that's a possibility. I know that the ones the nest the they all have this. It's again it's not what you're looking to do. It's going to solve your problem. it's just gonna do it a different way. And that's probably the best thing i could say about that. However if you wanted to try do it yourself hub. Which i've done before with like raspberry pies us home assistant home bridge. Those software systems typically do have presence detection that says so and so's on the network and because of that fire off trigger go. Do this turns light on. Made the door lock open cetera. That's not something you're gonna buy off the street. it's something you're gonna put together yourself so that's not your thing i would stay away from it but it is possible to do with one of those. Yes i actually so. I used to do this with android device so when my aunt iran ift on my android device on my android device hit my home wifi network things would happen and it was nice because yeah gps. You don't unlock your front door when you're still a mile away right and sometimes. Gps not exact. There's also an android app that is called tasker and that can actually triggered things to happen. When you get on your home wifi but again that's android so if you're on iphone which or people are on the android in the us. I don't know what to tell you other than gps. Where you're at or working with your individual hubs ray. We even checked on on home kit if it's possible to say hey. This iphone is on the network. Now go do something. It's not there it doesn't support it. Does it through gps. It's not there yet. But maybe i think this is a really compelling use case i think absolutely okay now we've got just some really easy answers for people. I love this part when people are like does exist. If we're like yes it does it. Here's what it's called him where you can find it first. Up is a question from dan. Who's looking for bright light bulbs. Let's hear kevin spacey. it's Dan from indianapolis. I have a number of smart switches in bulbs and my home and trying to retrofit some bulbs and so forth that it's not easily easy or feasible because of all their parents and support the do the whole switch replacement saying they've some very high lumine bulbs Ones by fill up here alley. Leedle him involved. That goes up to twenty two hundred lumens. They've another one. I saw around here for fifteen hundred or two which is quite a bit brighter than the typical eight hundred lumens. Who get with a sixty watt. Led my question is because i'm trying to make things a little easier so we're not leaving on all the all everywhere and they just turn off. Do you know any any brands. I know cynical. I thought cynical makes one try to avoid a lot of the aftermarket. Led you know chinese weird companies. Because i don't want to have all the apps and to I've i've found it easier to focus on on name brand products and the pinnacle one actually requires big the hub as well which isn't preferred method. But i think that when i think those up to fifteen hundred women but i just wondered if you know of any higher loomed that are wi fi enabled control and or double dan. You're right philips hue does make a light bulb that is not to nepal hate it because it's not suitable but it is just a white light bulb it's three thousand case. So that's in the warmer end of the spectrum but still nice. I have two of them actually in there at sixteen hundred lumens woo. i put them in seattle. It's dark it's just dark. And i do wish i'll be honest especially because i starting to play with whom kits adapted lighting. I'm like ooh if these were to be so awesome. But i'm bearing with it. The other option is singly. You mentioned this in your email. I can tell you that. Singlet is a legit brand and they have an extra bright daylight bulb. So i would say for you. Please check out. Sanguine were you can check out. The phillips hughes the phillips user nice because they're bluetooth and they can tie into amazon or google without you needing the app if you don't want to if you wanna do like fun things with it. Yes he will need the app but those are two really good options for you. Okay and next. Up is another question about lights. This wouldn't be a show featuring me if we didn't talk about lights all right this questions from alexander by stacy and kevin. This is alexander from iowa. Love the show. My question is around traveling and local control of smart devices. Specifically my wife and i have grown accustomed to routine dims our bedroom life over the course of thirty minutes from one hundred percent down to off curious. If there's a light we can take on the road with us. I mean visit hotels or family that can achieve the same effect using an iphone and bluetooth. I also bring an echo auto with me. So i can achieve voice control about having to reconsider wifi could gills or open up and happen to use alexa on my iphone. Thanks alexander. i bet you're not traveling as much anymore. But after the pandemic is done. I have some lovely for you. And they range in price so be fanciest nicest swankiest version of a sunrise..

"Router. So i don't know how to but you can read reviews about that sort of thing i would add also along software side. What are the features that you might want in your router. And do they charge a subscription for it exactly because some of the features that you might want maybe like parental controls to turn off all social media throughput for an hour. Can you do that. you wanna do that. You have to pay to do that. So in real quick about your bandwith point which is very good one stacey that all relates to how many bands that these router support and i say that because yes there's two point five gigahertz fan. Yes there's five gigahertz ban but some routers have dual say five gigahertz spans and one of those is reserved just for the mesh points to talk to each other and if they have a very fast dedicated band it's almost as fast having wired connections between those routers. Yes and that is awesome. All right another wifi question for us. This one is from charon. Who is from wisconsin. And let's hear it. I know that on rose you can see what by suck connected. "You're wondering one tiny tiny thing I wanted to say about this real real fast for those. Who aren't just trying to do podcasts. You're not trying to be the next game stream or whatever it is. You're just trying to talk to your grandparents or you WanNa have a presentation. Let's say you're holding a very small wedding because all the other big plans got changed because of everything and you're trying to broadcast out to all of those hundreds of people that WanNa see it. I would recommend all the stuff they've talked about so far but using Oh b. s. or something like that connect to Youtube live specifically because in their unlike twitch you can make a private video link that only only the people you give the link to conceal it. I suppose they could spread it out if they want to. But if you're trying to keep your event or your sing your broadcast out too. Many a more private affair do it on Youtube. But also archives he can simply send that same private link out to other people and they can see it if they missed it like. That's totally the way to go for for that kind of event loss on publish it also allows you to publish okay you want to look for. Unlisted the setting is is unlisted private unlisted. Yeah Bryce while we got you here. If you really want to up your game you want to go to the opposite side from what Scott Stock at about You can use something like v. mix the aforementioned trike astor stuff like that right yeah. Phoenix is kind of a windows. Only sort of similar to me. Mo Live like Alison was talking about is Phoenix as a broadcast quality video mixer. V necks video mixer. That's what we use in the studio for our podcasts and like Alison was saying it brings in cameras graphics. Lower thirds virtual shots. It has Indiana support built in. And what is what would it helps for us is. It gives us that next. Step in between Me What I do at home which uses using Oh bs and NBC going and using some huge new tech try caster And so let's have as a bunch of shots. Lets us mix and composite shots together very well. It has its own audio mixing routing features and even has a video calling feature on one of the higher tiers of the software. So if you're looking for a solution that might be we've tried it once or twice but it's still kind of a newer feature but if you're looking for a software only solution without having to by saying a Tri caster box. I really like V. Mixed for windows and there's wire casts Which is similar to be mixed which is out there for windows and Mac. Os as well all right. That's the basics but we'll finish up with a few items to make things a little better For instance I use Google sheets to create collaborative documents. That way people know we're using one right now. This is the point in the show. Where at here's who's GonNa say what it's collaborative everybody's got a web browser so it's really easy for people to get into. I use backpack studios. Ios APP ON AN IPAD. Plug into my mixer. That way. I'm able to play audio cues and thank you. Give myself applies stuff like that. So so around the horn. Let's let's talk about some of our favorite little extras that you can add. Shannon. I know you to talk a little bit about IOT stuff. I do. Yeah so as soon as I moved into this new house I was like I'm GonNa make everything smart so it's really easy to just plug and play and one of the things that I'm looking into is voice assistance in the studio so one thing. I'm planning to introduce in this room which I don't have yet because everything's still in boxes putting in a Google assistant and connecting it to a Belkin Waymo as well as Phillips Hughes which will automatically turn on my lights and I can also set different scenes so I could do a different scene for each video or different show that I'm doing so for example if I wanted to do a hack five Colin guest hosting that. I could have red for that show if I do. I could do back lighting and blue so I can change those depending on different scenes. I'm also planning to connect everything with L. Toes Stream deck so streamed act does work with Phillips Hughes. You have to use a plug in to be able to do that. Which I'm very excited for. I see Bryce has one as well as Amos. Yeah I have one too. It's great it's wonderful. One thing that I am doing with that as well for lighting is connecting the stream ducked to my Algata Cay lights and I have two of those right and left one so I have a feet a fill in key and I can change the temperatures on those. They did just introduce cheaper ones which are called the key light airs. I think are key air. Something like that but they are cheaper. They don't have as big of temperature range but they will work pretty much as much as you would like them to like whatever you would generally need them for it. That's what you would be able to use them for a so voice. Assistance Phillips US and L. Gatos can all basically work together to create a very easy to plug and play easy to turn on an scenario depending on. What kind of shows that you're doing and that's the new thing that I'm GonNa be introducing in this place. You think it's more fun to yell at Your Voice Assistant who is supposed to have it all automated and have it not work all the time so way I'd do it. That's the way he do now. I will make sure that you're putting everything on a separate if you really WANNA get Geeky in technical. Put everything on a separate Villain so that. You're not connecting a bunch of IOT devices on to your secure network at home especially if you are logging into a work related thing. If you're working from home you WanNa make sure that you're putting all those IOT devices on a separate network so that in case. There are any vulnerabilities. They don't end up using that as a pivot point to get onto your secure machine. No I'M GONNA jump in here real quick Allison and Shannon. I know you both do this. Virtual Lan thing to keep your iot devices off your main network. Where would people go to see? A tutorial like that say they were interested in doing such a thing to have that functionality. We're we're would be good some good resources for For people that go to for that I I. It's funny you ask that because I'm currently writing one right now for my My Youtube Channel. So just keep an eye on my twitter account to see when I introduced the video so I used to do a real complex thing with a y shape network with three routers and stuff but then The wham just doing it now is the the private side of my era network every every device can only see out. That's all it can do so by definition just putting on the guest network anything. I don't mean defend every most everybody here but all windows machines android devices and IOT devices that are not home kit or over on the guest network everything home kit and the maximum. The iphones are on the On the clean network. Nice another another happy Happy customer when it comes to the The stream deck and the reason. I love this thing is it. Goes back to stuff he said before about. Oh Bs and stream labs oh Bs. There is direct built in integration. But those services so if you are someone who wants to do some easy switching between scenes between sources between between entire collections. That you use in those in those softwares when you're doing your stream that thing is great. It's like having your own little studio in a tiny little box. It's it's amazing Alison. We wanted to mention audio hijack. Loop back we kind of already mentioned that Is there anything else you WANNA say about those or any other little little things that make the stream go better well? One of the big things for me is that When you're working from home and especially if you're if you're broadcasting getting feedback is harder. You're not in a room full of people you can't hear what they're thinking so We do My Show live to youtube. Live But we also pipe the audio from threw me Mo Live Nima life sending it to Youtube live but it sends the audio also over to discord and then we have a live chat room that I don't have any restrictions on we let anybody come into it. It's puffy dot com slash Chat and People chat each other. And it's giving people a place to be at a specific time. I do my show on Sunday nights at five pm every single week. So they know at five pm they can go in there and even if they aren't listening to me which happens They have somebody to talk to and with everybody working from home now. I Have Tom. You mentioned this on. Your show is all of a sudden. There's a lot more people in the chat rooms but having them be able to talk to each other and get to know each other along with talking back to what you're doing is super valuable to me. That makes that makes it a lot less lonely of an enterprise for me okay. Let's talk a little bit about recording. Not Everybody who wants to stream. These things needs to record them If you're using youtube I it usually is going to make a recording for you and that may be good enough but Amos and then Bryce What are some thoughts on recording editing? That sort of thing so my first point of advice is if you are recording it and you need to make sure that it saved always have a backup plan. I can record on my mixer in and recorded my doll. Which I use adobe audition and record each track individually that way if someone has a lot of noise I can adjust that modify that however I need to And if I'm not in in my studio I will use this age. Six right here It's it's a beautiful device you can. This is probably the most elite one. But there's cheaper ones out there but just make sure that you have a way of definitely recording all of your audio at least two ways because something's going to fail guaranteed the rule is too is one one is none. And that's how that's kind of how to live if you're trying to record for posterity and you can't really do the same thing with video but luckily I mean yeah. Br Bryce has back for video sure. Yeah so this this is. This is going to be a very more complicated technique but the way that we record video in our studio is that we have three different computers doing stuff. We have a computer that shows us our web content in videos and audio. We have a computer that is handling takes all the inputs and switches them and creates the signal for our feed and then we have computer that just takes that signal and encodes it and pushes it out to our services and so there are multiple points there where you can have redundancy you can record at the streaming computer or APPs at the switching computer the second one as well as heavy recording on the encoding computer on the third one. So that you have redundancies. If one breaks the other one is still going. If if one breaks the Stream is still alive Another important thing in terms of Of backup when it comes to video I I recommend a lot of people are GonNa want to record to say. Mp Four which is a very common Internet format. I do not recommend that at all. Please try to use a format that does not need to be quote. Unquote closed I M K V at our studio and here at home Mtv is not much different than before other than if your computer. If you get a power out. Your file is not corrupted you. Can you can plug it into obese. You could do something called remixing. Mu X. Mixing To turn it into an empty for it takes no time to to make that change and it. It really will save your but when you have that power outage not only that but Ob Stream will both pause that format and they cannot pause force. If you stop one of those videos it stopped. You make a new one..

Oh Bs and stream labs obvious there's direct built in integration but those services so if you are someone who wants to do some easy switching between scenes between sources between between entire collections that you use in those in those softwares when you're doing your stream that thing is great. You make a new one. If you need to pull out a stream you can do that with the format you're talking about and it's such as an keeps it together. One thing about pausing I thank you for bringing that up Scott because I had this on my home computer and it was a big issue. Where obese has a feature called a recording quality? And you can either set it to be the same as your string so whatever your extremists setting out your computers recording that same thing or you can have a different profile of recording higher quality lower quality. Whatever you want the thing that I ended up finding out on live on air was that I accidentally had not had it set to Cena stream I had it set too high quality and my home computer was not quite beefy. If you really want to up your game you want to go to the opposite side from what Scott Stock at about You can use something like v. mix the aforementioned trike astor stuff like that right. Yeah that is kind of a windows. What kind of shows that you're doing and that's the new thing that I'm going to be introducing in this place. I don't mean defend every most everybody here but all windows machines android devices and IOT devices that are not home kit or over on the guest network. Everything home kit and the maximum. The funds are on the On the clean network. Nice another another happy Happy customer when it comes to the The stream deck and the reason. I love this thing is it. Goes back to stuff he said before about. Oh Bs and stream labs obvious there's direct built in integration but those services so if you are someone who wants to do some easy switching between scenes between sources between between entire collections that you use in those in those softwares when you're doing your stream that thing is great. Live But we also pipe the audio from threw me Malivert Muli sending it to Youtube live but it sends the audio also over to discord and then we have a live chat room that I don't have any restrictions on we let anybody come into it. Which I use adobe audition and record each track individually that way if someone has a lot of noise I can adjust that modify that however I need to And if I'm not in in my studio I will use this. H Six right here It's it's a beautiful device you can. Have to handle doing to encode two days doing double the work at at once and so.

I do. "Hope to see what you. Hey Kevin we got some news this week. Some of it was news to us and some of it was not news to us so to lighting but it was news to a lot of other people. Apparently who don't listen to our show faculty so to Lighting Companies Philips Hue and Oz Room. Which makes the light defy lates both of those announced shutdowns or rather Philips Hue will start with that Kazakov. Most publicity probably because more people have phillips he'd Light Bulbs Phillips Hughes said in a tweet that they were shutting down their first generation hub. This means that if you have a first generation hub your lights are still going to work. But you're hub is no longer going to control them and this is going to happen. Actually at the end of April Phillips. Put this news out fairy stealthily by changing their terms and conditions last year. Roughly around the middle of last year. We actually noticed it in November in at the time when we say I was like someone had deemed me and had seen it and was like hey is this true and I was like. Oh my goodness it is so we wrote about it. We talked about it on the PODCAST IN. I was surprised that Phillips did not draw more attention to it at the time will they didn't have to because everybody else did that this past week for some reason this was like a major headline all over the interwebs. It's because Phillips actually tweeted it out this week. Well said by the way we told you a while back but just so you know the end of April your first Jan Hooks GonNa stop working so the new cycle jumped on it this week because of that but I thought some of the headlines rather careless I mean I read one that was. I can't quote it because I don't recall exactly but it was basically you're Phillips you lights will soon stop working and that's not true it's not the whole story and it's not all Philips Hue Bulbs so I was kind of disappointed with how some outlets actually reported this. But that's just me and as part of this change which you may not have noticed. I didn't see it in a lot of stories. Phillips also said that. They're only going to support their hubs for three years after purchase. They may support it longer but they reserve the right to basically shut things down three years after purchase and frankly. I mean they're kind of in a transition in my opinion anyway because they're getting away from the bulbs that need these hubs and while they still sell them they're also selling Bluetooth bulbs right and that wouldn't need a hub. It's exactly work with the Google home. They work with Amazon. Madame a directly from your phone. Whatever you WANNA do but I've spent I'm going to say close to a thousand dollars on Phillips Based bulbs accessories in those are designed to last twenty three like the bulbs are designed to last for like up to twenty three years right these are. Led's then they will they not who knows? That's a long time but they're getting dome now. Yeah this is kind of an interesting thing because people are upset and I get it. You would have to buy another hub. So that's another fifty sixty dollars but this is exactly what people proposed as a solution whence Sonos cut their support for their devices. They were like well. Yes speakers lasts for a really long time. You have a thin device that manages the speakers and has all the smarts that you can replace. I was actually going to bring that up because you had also spent close to two thousand dollars on your saunas equipment so soon as you said that I was about to say. Oh you just got suncoast again. Yeah Yeah I did accept not quite because the thousand dollars worth of equipment will still be worthwhile. I just need to update my hub. Which is a fifty to sixty dollar investment. So that's Phillips you but another lighting system this time it's Oz. Rooms light defy system. These are actually. The cloud servers are going to shut off on August thirty first. Twenty twenty one. So don't panic. You still lots lead to like fifteen months. Is that fifteen more months. Yeah Sixteen more months city here counting on my fingers. I'm like wait a second. What month are we? It's many months away. It's a longtime but what's going to happen is after that date. The lighter fi service and support will be discontinued you will have no further updates and he will no longer be able to connect these to Amazon or google voice assistance. So I actually have some ostrom bulbs but I never used the light. Affi- cloud system. I wonder if they make different bulbs that are lighter fi cloud-based only and just regular Ostrom boobs. I don't know I didn't get this email. That explaining that the servers are getting switched off disturbingly. I didn't either and I actually have a life. I account so I was like what happened in mind. However however maybe it's coming maybe they noticed. I haven't used my late if I account for almost a year. I don't know some things to know. If you have light bulbs you can move them over to any ZIG. Be based compatible smart hub in. I actually have controlled my life. I- lights through the wink hub in the past as have I yes. I'm actually doing it now with smart things. Yes you could work on with smart things. So that's good again. This is like basically in this case. This is the cloud shutting down your your investment in the harsh should still be just fine but it gets to why they're actually shutting this down when they explain that in the email it has to do with. When these bulbs came out they used to be light. Lincoln's be home automation standard. And now zippy's up to three zero new standards so the kind of bought products that standard isn't going to be supported anymore by this company again you can use other hubs brain and basically they just can't invest in this and that that makes sense You know they thought this was going to be awesome. They basically were like yeah. You know we divested. This business in twenty sixteen was a while back. And now we're just. We're just not doing it so I will say y'all this feels like bad news but we're actually seeing an evolution in how companies handle this Phillips. You I think didn't do the best job when they did. There's last year but the light of Fi folks see I feel better if I got the email but in their communication. They're being very clear. They are doing it very far in advance. Which is helpful. And they're trying really. I mean you still have the ability to make your older stuff work. He won't have all of the stuff. I used to have light if I had bulbs but I also had outdoor lights that I really liked and we actually recommended on the show so if you purchase those know that they will no longer work from the cloud. And you'll have to move those over to a hub. Ideally smart things. This makes me wonder though and don't expect an answer. This is just a question. Part of this is because they've divested this business but the other part is that the standards and technologies used in two thousand sixteen and there are newer standards. Now okay. What happens in three four five years when there's even newer standards and I just mean industry-wide historically many of the standards for the consumer world have been backwards compatible. So look at the efforts that the. Wi Fi alliance has made to keep WIFI backwards compatible. This makes a lot of sense because consumers don't like change they don't want their old stuff to break is same thing happens with Bluetooth. Zubi and Z. Wave have been less focused on that because for a long time they weren't in normal consumer products right. They were in products designed for professionals to install. So I think this is kind of a natural evolution again. Early adopters kind of getting the short end of the stick. That would be us so. Yeah I feel like this is going to keep happening. We're going to see this happening. Probably in the next year to a lot more as some of these early stage IOT businesses wind down and get acquired and people are like. What am I going to do with this? I don't want to support this. Be prepared okay. So if you're if you're buying bulbs maybe by Kevin you're late by Wifi lightbulbs. I'm Kinda like by Lutron. Their light switches. That's our advice for today which is not maybe what people want to hear. And you know I am going to upgrade. I've already updated my phillips who hub. I've got the Gen two but I actually bought like five years ago. So I'm sitting here thinking. Oh well they could shut that down at any time to these terms and conditions. This gets into. I am against the bridges in the hubs to some degree. But I know I know all right. Well let's talk about a different kind of hub. Let's a pie hub. How would I describe this? You have been installing home assistant. Yes a do it yourself. Hub is probably the best way to describe it and I mentioned this on a couple shows ago that I'm going to take the plunge into the home assistant world and for those who are not familiar. It is a hub product software. Based you have to provide your own hardware in which case I used a raspberry Pi. Which is the minimum you would WANNA use. You could certainly do this on your own. Always running computer But just to dip a toe in the water. I'm using raspberry. Pi All was the setup process because I wanted to see what it was like a mother. Take time and see if it's who can do this. Who cannot how difficult it is? And frankly I'm GONNA say Ninety to ninety five percents people who listen to. This show are technical enough to do this. Install home assistant. Wow I feel that that audience. Y'All are amazing. I read this that I didn't feel I was like oh I can no. I think you've got turned off by it because it is many steps and it's all a manual process and I will say Kudos to the home assistant group. It's it's this is open source software so a lot of different people are contributing. The instructions are actually quite good every once in a while. You might run into some Kinda Gotcha like I did. Like for example. I had to melt the boot partition of the St Card of the home assistance software to configure a text file with my wifi settings. I know how to do that. I can't do that but the boot partition wasn't even showing in my file manager. I think that would stump a lot of people who didn't see it like. Wow do I mount something? That isn't there you know. I use Lennox. I am taking programming classes. I knew how to do that so even technical people. If they haven't run to that particular situation you could to a problem here or there but it's doable. It really is if you're a off the shelf kind of consumer that just wants to go buy a hub plug it in and go. I still think you could do this but I don't think you will. I guess is probably the best way to say. And that's what you said you're like I don't want to do with us. He would not enjoy it. Not the plugging in a hub and setting that up as any fun but it felt like it would take longer but so this was the initial setup and and working that. Keep coming back to this because you have. You've turned on a light but do you have any first impressions of the robustness or interest. You might have in the platform will I did look at all the different plug ins. You can add out of the box at found. I'd say a third of my smart devices so I got. I have to add some plug INS but as far as robustness just based on the plug in library. I think there isn't anything you probably can't do with home assistant whereas I've run into other limitations on other hubs I I suspect this is probably the most robust solution out there at a relatively inexpensive price point because you could get a pie for fifty five bucks the highest model for Pie..

Whatever you WANNA do. But I've spent I'm going to say close to a thousand dollars on Phillips Based in accessories in those are designed to last twenty three like the bulbs are designed to last for like up to twenty three years. Right these are.

"Well, I we've been using Phillips you the truth is I feel like Phillips who is going to be displaced because it's a it's an expensive, you know, even on sale these things. Are expensive very? Yeah. So I use. So the the smart lights that I've used are the life ex lights, and the reason why God is because it had. It was the brightest light at the time. And Phillips Hughes had not been updated for number of years. So I like the RGB lights I like to be able to kind of set the different lights and use it in the studio for different things. So I kinda got stuck in the life x platform for a while. My wife bought me to Philips us. Now, you have it comes with the hub. Right. Yours has the hub. Okay. So I set it up, and I was not very impressed. And I'll tell you why it had to do with the price point for these lights. They're not cheap at all. Especially when you go into color lights, right? You're paying about forty dollars to fifty dollars those life excites around forty eight forty nine dollars. So I started looking for all turnips that are at the same level. And I was tipped off to a company called Ye light. And I think Shaw me Shami Shami show me, right? Paul show me show me. Yeah. Xiaomi owns them. It's a it's a property of them. So these are the lights and there about twenty something there I've seen him anywhere from eighteen bucks to Twenty-eight thousand pending. For a light for a light. Yes. It's still really expensive. It's so cheap. You know? What though it's half the price of? I can't believe expensive surface, especially if you want the lights, right? You want to call lights? So I did a number of comparisons here. So I compared it with the Phillips use that I have here. I compared it to life ex lights, and I have to tell you these are probably my favorite lights. I like the wifi lights. I don't like the hub. Just because it's it works when I'm not here. And I'm able to kind of do all that stuff. I like the fact that I have the white lights because they're also a little bit cheaper. These are WI fi based and you kind of create the scenes and do all that stuff. But the cool thing here on those show, you I've actually used it. In one of my shots here. Let's cut to this. So that's a new shot that we're going to be using for show. So let me see if I could change the lights air, and you guys get say, so I like it because it's really bright. It's about eight hundred lumens the life is a little bit brighter. It's thousand Lumine so you get a little bit more color. But honestly, it's not that noticeable. So you could have scenes have the, you know, it's everything you can do with the Phillip Hughes, essentially this gives you a ton of options. Obviously, they're not an advertiser. I'm not I'm not endorsing them in any capacity like that. I'm just going to change the color of the lights here. Sorry. Let's go to one of them. So we could do you could change the color to change that one and it just based on a spectrum, and you could just pick the color. Which are it's absolutely great on the fact that it's about thirty percent cheaper than other light Bill. You should leave that on patriots colors, by the way. White. I was stunned. How good how good they were compared to about two three years ago. When I tried a NATO brain that I wasn't familiar with that like thirty dollars. It's and they were absolutely terrible. So and you can still get in by the way, they'll cerebral. I gotta see the name. It was like smart way or something. It was it was just a third party Chinese company that put a couple LED's in the singer was selling it. These are actually impressive. How good they are for the price. Listen, there are lots of choices there. Now, Philip she was kind of one of the early companies and their big company, they support everything. So, you know, the stuff's gonna work with Google Amazon and an apple that's a big deal one of the problems..
