"And obviously that will be a lot easier for people to accept once a new leases in place. They had an option earlier this month to extend it by 5 years, declined to do that, leaving it to expire at the end of this year. The ravens, just across the street, had 5 years left on their lease when they agreed to a new one. There's $600 million of public funds available for both of those teams by agreeing to a long-term lease. So that was the ravens motivation, the Orioles have that same motivation. They're looking to make upgrades to their ballpark. And John and Lewis is really focused on making upgrades to the area around it too. You threw around the expression, live workplace, 360 five. He wants the ballpark to be a place for people to come when there aren't oils against there. And that's why these concerts are happening. That's why Billy Joel is here in 2019 or there in 2019, and that's why Paul McCartney came and that's why Bruce Springsteen is coming, and even though it comes off pretty poorly when Johnny is listed as priorities as concerts and the public private partnership and then the team, it does speak to the effort he's making to let his baseball people do the job, which is something that I know people complained about with his father. And so there is people are in the jobs that John angelis believes their best suited for and he believes he is in the role that he is best suited for of handling these off field matters and it is unfortunate to the things that came to light about him and his family did in the way they did and I'm sure it's not been easy on any of them, especially when you look at the situation with their father and the health he's in. But at the same time, they are running a baseball team and you would hope that the focus at some point becomes when and what that baseball team and obviously they've done what they need to do at the minor league level and in the farm system to create the systems in place. But I think it's fair to question, especially when you look at what they're comparing themselves to, how high they're aiming in that regard and obviously as time goes on, we'll get a better picture of that. But hopefully in the near future, there's a new lease in place. The team is going to be committed to Baltimore for the long-term future. And some other things happen around it that drive up revenues and get people excited about coming to the ballpark and that in turn leads to an increase in payroll and a better baseball team and all of this is kind of cyclic, but hopefully in the long run, John Angelo gets what he wants for Baltimore and oil stance get what they want for the Orioles. All right, so we always end these previews by asking what would qualify as a success for this team in 2023 and like the Phillies the first team we talked about the Orioles had a successful season last year now in a different way, obviously they didn't make the playoffs, but they took such a huge step forward in the regular season, got back to respectability and did it in an exciting way. And so having one successful season then sort of raises the bar for success in the subsequent season, although as we talked about earlier, there's also the risk of regression. So what would be a successful follow-up for the Orioles, both at the big league level, but also below if you want to go there since this is still a team that is trying to develop and promote prospects. Yeah, I think at the major league level, it's pretty clear that they need to make the playoffs for this to be considered a successful season. That's the benchmark, the front offices said that's the benchmark of the coaching staff has set. This is the benchmark of players are setting. So I think if they fall short of that, this season will be a disappointment for sure, and there'll be some evaluation that needs to be done on the player level on the coaching staff level and potentially even on the front office level. I think that they've set a standard for themselves now. They've come out and said, we want to make the playoffs. So I think that's the benchmark they need to judge themselves on. I think on the minor league level, one thing that would be kind of considered a success is finding who the next grace and Rodriguez are deal hall is. This organization sense Michael I took over has been guided by those two as their top pitching prospects and obviously the hope is both of those guys are going to graduate this year and there are some questions about who's going to come in behind them. They got Kate COVID in the Jorge Lopez trade. And they really like him. He's looked really good this spring. They've got some other guys coming noyers on the 40 man roster now and you've got chase McDermott who is in the training and senior traders, maybe a little lower on that list, potentially whoever they get with the 17th overall pick that's in that mold. But I think just kind of finding that next picture, they've obviously focused so much in the draft on hitting and it's obviously paid off in terms of those classic rankings, but they inherited deal haul, they inherited Grayson artery is and getting their own next top guy. I think that would be a really big step for the organization. All right, well, we can find out if the Orioles do succeed by their own measurement, although really if they're defining making the playoffs as a success, then there's more they could have done to ensure that that will happen because the odds at least according to the public projections, not in their favor at this point, though it's hardly out of the realm of possibility. Anyway, I wish them well Orioles fans have been long suffering or if not the longest suffering at least the most acutely suffering over a fairly short time frame. So you can follow the Orioles attempt to make it back to the playoffs. All season long at the Baltimore sun, Nathan will be covering them. You can also find him on Twitter at Nathan S Ruiz. Thank you very much, Nathan. Yeah, guys, I really appreciate it. All right, thanks, Matt, and thanks to Nathan. I'm sure the latter will let us know as soon as John angelos makes good on his promise to open Baltimore's books should be any day now. Let's wrap up with the past blast, which comes to us from 1973 and from David Lewis, who is an architectural historian and baseball researcher based in Boston. And he writes 1973 a new spin on the double header. 1973 was a year of great change in professional baseball as American League owners agreed to begin using a designated hitter at first on a three year trial basis, and we know from the zombie runner how the trial basis often goes. The DH was not, however, the only rule change tried out that season in the class a Florida state league, a different kind of bold experiment was an unveiled a three team double header, in which a home team would play two different visiting squads on the same day.

"He traded, he traded Logano hoppy, who is a really good catching prospect who was never going to play in the majors for the Phillies because they have signed JT Realmuto to the contract that he has. And they treat him for another young player who just better fit positionally and Brandon marsh and I know those people who do not did not like that trade at the time and still don't like it because they felt like that the Philly should have gotten more for a hobby, but it was a trade in a sense. It wasn't Nebraska just like unloading a prospect for an overpriced veteran, I guess, right? I mean, it was him getting a younger player with 6 years of club control or 5 years of control to a better fit positionally and will be an everyday player on the 2023 fillies as well. So I mean, look, he's held on to their top prospects. Like Andy painter, Chris mcgarry, mccabe, their top three pitching prospects are still here. Johann Rojas, probably their best prospect, still here. The best prospects he's traded really since he's taken over the Phillies have been Logano hobby and I can spend Brown who is kind of a pop up guy. They traded him for Dave Robertson last deadline that was a deal that I don't know, I guess it was okay. I mean, they won the national tenant, so whatever. But he's how long to his guys. And I think he's willing to see that through. I don't think they're going to trade any of those pitching prospects in the near future. I think they want to see those guys through. Well, and one of them who they absolutely did not trade and who looks like he's going to have a big role in the big league club this year is Andrew painter. So, you know, we want to give credit when the prospects do get held onto. What should Philly fans expect from painter and do you think that he is going to crack the opening day roster? I'm trying to be careful in the way that I write and talk about Andrew painter because he's 19 and he turns 20 in mid April and it's not fair to overhype prospects. It's not fair to put huge expectations on a picture, even if he's the best 19 year old ever, he's still going to have some growing pains because that's just how it works in the sport. He's every bit the real deal. And there is a clear reason why they're pushing him and why they are, you know, have left the door open for him, not just left the door, but I mean, they've really just are holding the door open for him to win this 5th starter spot out of camp. And that's crazy. It's absolutely crazy that they've reached this point, but I wrote a story in the athletic earlier in the spring about the relationship and the trust that has really built because a coach that he worked with when you was 14 years old at crusty sports over on the other side of Florida is here with affiliates. These are director of pitching development. He's very highly regarded, Brian caplan. And they've spent a lot of time thinking about how to treat Andrew painter and whether this is right for him right for the franchise. And after all these meetings and these thoughts and they really came to the decision that that they want to see if you can do this. And whether or not he breaks camp with them, he's very clearly going to pitch for the 2023 Phillies and have a role and have some sort of meaningful role, I think, on this season. I can't wait to see what it looks like in a gratefully game, even though it's not even the biggest stage. I'm in close to it, but I can't wait to see it. I can't wait for other people to see it. It's not just because he throws really hard and he's really tall he's 6, 7, throws an upper 90s. He just has such polish for an 19 year old both on the mound and off the field. He's been able to handle everything thrown on the spring and there is a lot of hype and there's a lot of attention on him. It's been remarkable to watch. And there's been that affiliate 700 teenagers from our pitch for them in a game since 1980. There's only been four since 1992 in the majors, which is crazy. He's in rarefied territory right now. And I understand why. And we could maybe save Noah sang for a second and ask about him next. But other than the intrigue about painter and whether he'll be a part of the rotation. There's not a ton of unsettled spots on the roster entering the spring, so other than that 5th starter battle. I mean, there are always bullpen and bench spots up for grabs to some extent. But is there any other intriguing positional battle here question about players who may or may not make it? Hot really been? I mean, I can't ever remember the Phillies going into a spring with 7 locks and their bullpen. And they have set a box and they're open, which is crazy. They really have two bench spots open. They're going to rotate the DH price Harper is not going to be healthy to start the season. When he returns in June or July, he'll be the DH.

"Turner gives you speed and on base skill at the very top of the lineup. And that is something that this team has really needed. I mean, you can look at was there a lead author for most of the last season, and while it's a role that he likes, he's obviously not your prototypical Leo off hitter and they probably sacrificed a bit. He probably would have had more plate appearances with runners on base if he bounded just a little lower in the lineup and those home runs might have counted for a little more, but on the field just gives them a dynamic presence atop of one up and I think that was if you're looking at their offense from last year if you'd like where can we make the biggest upgrade that was probably a top one up and it was a perfect fit because shortstop was the one spot on the field where they had an opening because they could move start over in gene Segura is moving on. He's now at the Marlins. So I made sense totally on the field and then off the field. It's amazing. Just watching in the spring, it's almost like he's been here for 5 years. I mean, he just fits in personality wise and they knew that because schwarber was his teammate before, he gave them some Intel. Kevin long, the hidden coach here has worked with Turner and they're very close and he gave some insight as to how he would fit in here. He's really fit in. And I can see why he was their top choice. They just felt like he was going to age better out of all the other guys. It was probably a toss up between Turner and Carl's Correa for their top two choices, but they really thought that Turner was a better fit and was going to age better. So he was the guy. So the Phillies have not been hesitant to spend. They now have the fourth highest projected payroll in baseball and we talked about John Middleton's recent quote his celebrated quote about caring and no one cares whether he makes any money and he just wants to win and he's said some similar things like this in the past, the Phillies have ramped up their spending and of course they're coming off winning a pennant and you would expect that there'd be some revenue boost coming from that. But is this Middleton's mindset going back a bit? Is it a response to the team's situation and the fact that they really have had to spend to be competitive because some of their player development efforts didn't work out as well as they had wanted them to or is this the effect of dombrowski seemingly being an owner whisperer and convincing owners to loosen the purse strings? I think this has everything to do with David Nebraska. And that's not to say that John Middleton wasn't someone who wanted to spend or win before he has. And he did before daydream browsing camera and recall. He signed Bryce Harper for 300 for the $30 million in dabrowski wasn't here yet, but I think Don broski just unlocked John Middleton and the rest of ownership the buck family. Their minds to what else is possible. For forever, the Phillies did not exceed the luxury tax and they were not going to do it unless they unless as Middleton had been quoted in the path of saying unless it was a move that could win as a world championship. And then all of a sudden, last spring, it was, I guess it was right around this time, you know, when a lockout had been lifted, you know, the Philly assigned schwarber and I signed some relievers and getting close to that first threshold of luxury tax, but they're not going to go over. They never had, and all of a sudden they signed a casting house. And casting on his price had dropped, they felt like dumbrowski goes ownership and says, this is a chance for us to pounce. It's going to require you to get into territory. You've never been, but I feel like this can get us closer to a world championship. And they did it. And even housing is really good at convincing billionaires to let him spend their money. And I don't know what it is, but ownership has unequivocal faith in what Don broski does. And I feel like you have the perfect marriage of an owner and baseball operations head in Milton, Nebraska, and it is just created this thing. It's always going to be the buildings are going to be spending like this. I think for the foreseeable future, I really do. And they have spent on David dabrowski, too, because his contract has been extended through 2027. And look, I mean, David bresci, he delivered a World Series in Boston and then he comes and delivers a pennant in Philadelphia and say what you will about his attributes as a GM at this point in his career, but convincing owners to spend is just an incredible skill for an executive to have. So does that outweigh any long-term concerns about, hey, what does this do to the pharma system and is he just kind of looking for the extreme short term because that's what he's focused on and that's the kind of players that he tends to acquire at this point or is that kind of where Phillies fans are too? Like, hey, we've got this core and we got to make the most of it now and who cares what happens in 5 or ten years? I think what's impressive. Ben is that like, he really hasn't created anybody.

Let him feel more important than what he really is. Instead of, hey, I'm going to be in the starting lineup here. I don't want you in the starting lineup. You can be off the bench and you can be helter skelter. Go out there and just go. Yeah. Yeah, we don't care. We already know that you're 6 four from UCLA. And we had the commissioner of the NBA on and here is, well, I asked him about why are players allowed to carry the ball now more than ever? It's a tough call to make, first of all, I think it may be that the rule needs to be changed because the way the rule is now written is that you can't put your hand under the ball completely under the ball or bring it to a pause. I think in some cases, if you really broke it down, the players hand is actually on the side of the ball, not under the ball, and that crossover happens so quickly, and there's no pause. I'm not sure it technically.

"All righty, let's go to John Heyman. I heard him on WIP, I believe. Last 6 months or so. Let's welcome into Philadelphia. Hey John, welcome to town. Thanks very much for joining us. Oh, it's great to be with you. So John, are you covering the World Series? Is that why you wrote this? I normally do, but I have skipped the three in Philadelphia, but I did pick the Phillies, so let's go Phillies. Oh, okay. Will you pleading on the mercy of the court before the gavel comes down? So, John, if I had a characterize this, you said I almost feel sorry for the Astros almost. I know it's not the easiest organization to work up a good cry for, but they're headed into Philly for game three at one game apiece. And you just know it's going to get ugly. You seem to be saying they paid their pound of flesh or there's a statute of limitations on this. It happened 5 years ago. Why make the argument? It's not fair for Phillies fans to use that as their attack point as fans, if you will. Well, I mean, when someone does something wrong they are sentenced to you normally it's a limited term. So I'm being hopeful. I don't think that there's a great chance of this as someone who wore a cheese head in the end zone scenes of an eagles packers playoff game. I understand the fans are very passionate as they are in New York. And you know, I wrote a column pleading with the Yankee fans to lay off Altuve because it wasn't working. And it was just making him play better. And they didn't listen. So I'm not expecting to leave fans to listen and I get it 2017 was an ugly episode. My feeling is L two lay is one of the few on that team who didn't cheat who didn't take the signals the pitch signs and also there's only four or 5 guys left from that 2017 team. But I understand the fans are the fans. But he benefited from that. Now, would it take it a lot? Arguably, Verlander two. They benefit it from that. The World Series champions forever. All right, but why is Altuve the one that targeted more than anybody else? But he's the most prominent player. I mean, Carlos Beltran isn't there. He's going to be dismissed forever. You know, I don't know what else you would say to Altuve if you were a fan. I mean, it's the team. And John, you say this is a city, too. That booed Santa Claus. I mean, do you know how in Philadelphia how tired people get of that that booing of Santa Claus? Well, I'm going to assume that most people reading are not from Philadelphia and don't know that story. And that's the most famous and funny one. So I know it's been repeated a million times and it's cliche to people in Philadelphia, but I would venture to guess that the other people on the Internet are not aware of that. Okay. But what I'm saying is, though, Philadelphia gets an awful reputation that we're animals, we're the worst fans nationally, right? And this just continues to add to that. I would argue, yeah, there have been instances. There are certain examples we could all bring up. But that by and large, it's the intensity here, particularly with Philly's fans. I mean, these are families more related to it. Eagles fans, we could have a different conversation. Today, we're off. I have to say nothing physical. It was only verbal. So that was okay. But I could take it. Yeah, I mean, they're passionate, which is the word that I used. I'm hopeful that they won't be that terrible to them, but I have no expectation. And like I said, Yankee fans were the same way. I just think Altuve is being needlessly targeted. It wasn't his thing. Okay. All right, yeah. I like him as a player. So yeah, I don't have any problem with him. Now John, another part. You talk about their light hitting catcher using an illegal back. Didn't he don't you get a directive. The reason for the illegal bad is it shatters more easily. So there must be an advantage to the wood, but the downside is a chatters, why wouldn't he have known that, do you know? Hey, it's veneta. Charlie Welcomes Doug Mastriano Back to the Show

"Welcome back to the program. It's great to be back with you. And thanks for having me on. I like the Phillies hat. It's very good. I think we have some Astros fans in the audience. And I don't know how did that ever? Did they ever have to give back those World Series titles? Did they ever have to? Maybe we could start a trend. Yeah, I don't know. Did they ever have to give that back? Oh, Andrew said no, these Andrews, my resident baseball scholar. So Doug, talk about your race, and then I'm going to let it rip about this latest advertisement, which I think is the private part being aired out loud about a coup in the Republican Party to come after. I don't blame Oz for it because he didn't have fingerprints on it, but it was a lot of operatives kind of in his arena, not good. First tell us about your race and then we'll dive into that. At race is going fantastic. We are in the southeast outside of Philly yesterday for three events that the first event we went to in the middle of a work day. It was standing room only in bucks county. That's like a battleground county. And we're going to flip it red this go around here. We've campaigned heavy and Democrat areas over the past couple of weeks and in a near Pittsburgh in the near Philly in Erie, Pennsylvania. And we always get these massive crowds. I mean, we were talking about 600 people in eerie. We had standing room only in an event in a Democrat working class neighborhood outside of Pittsburgh. My opponent went a couple of days later. We had four or 500 people. I couldn't account it. Like I said, standing room. My opponent showed up a couple of days later. And I think he pulled in a whopping 15 or 12 people. I mean, so. That's a lot more than I would have expected for him. They have to crop in, Charlie, so you can't see the empty room. I mean, with us, we just pan the audience. You know, much like what Trump does at his events so you can see that it's real what we have going on here. And I think it's kind of the segue. This grassroots movement for some reason, the establishment is a terrified of it. I don't quite understand what's to be afraid of the people that we say we represent.

"The Padres Phillies was teen swings ball. Thank God the guy for the Phillies put his bat on the ball and launched like one foot over the fence. The Yankees was fun. It's Earl weaver ball. A three one Homer is your best defense. Yeah. What? It was like the least amount of hits in the Phillies game in a playoff game. Ever. Yeah. That's made for TV right there. Exactly. DVRs for that. All the networks are breathing a huge sigh of relief. We have the New York Yankees for us. I mean, you've known Verlander for years. I mean, you've known him, you know, your first name basis with him in all that. Does this Houston have a pitching to take on these home run hitters? They've got pitching. In fact, I'm thinking that mister Taylor is thinking, oh, sweet merciful. But you're coming in, you don't have, you know, now it depends on which side you're on. You have no rest. You're coming off of the game yesterday. Yeah. You're in the Houston. Now you gotta face Verlander. So it depends on which side you're on. It's like, hey, well, I got the moog. Keep it going. That's where I am. Gotta keep them over. And they had a couple of cocktails on the plane down to Houston, I'm sure. So maybe a little late, but in the late morning maybe, but they're gonna be ready to go. I have watched Yankees all year, 'cause there's a team up in Boston, I follow. I love how children Yankees were when they won. Everybody else is going mental and they're on the field. You're worried about him getting hurt. The Yankees were like, yeah, we won. Let's move on. Well, yes. Really different. Skipper Boone was saying, yeah, we had our adversities, but this is baseball, my team never stopped believing, and now here we are. We're down to four. Baseball, no days off, just get on here. I'm gonna play a game. Michael, we're only having you here to get the pick here. Houston or Yankees, what do you think? I want now with Paul standing. "And you got to take your chances, you know, I don't think they I think they were too timid, you know? I mean, I understand Contreras wasn't moved. So nobody paid the price, but, you know, went in there with a catching tandem that was good defensively. Really not great offensively. Did not have the righty DH, did not poke up their bullpen like they needed to do. I understand Scherzer is great. I understand the grum is great, but you need more than one great relief. I mean, out of vino and Lugo are pretty good, but you needed more than out of being a Lugo. And they just didn't do it. That is true. They didn't do it. And you know, there were other pictures that were left off that roster. Taiwan walker wasn't there. Taiwan walker, who I've been very loudly trying to say to as many people who will listen that he's been kind of an unsung hero of this met staff for not just this season, two seasons in a row, especially the debacle that was the 2021 season. So the mets are in a very unique spot here because they're hitting to an off season where, as of right now, as of now, I should really say, they're losing to Grom. They're losing nimmo. They're losing Diaz or losing basset aravind that you just mentioned. Lugo that you just mentioned. So the question is, I think out of vino and Lugo or as good as gone personally, but that's not because of any other reason. I just think they can upgrade those spots. There's no way to Grom is going to be pitching for anyone but the mets, right? No, I wouldn't say that's a definite, you know, he's very upset about that contract. He is going to opt out technically not a free agent yet. He will not, he will opt out, understandably. I mean, he's worth more than what's left on that contract. It's about 30 million guaranteed for one year left, plus a team option. Plus there are all these deferrals, so I get it. He's worth more, even at 60 innings. He's worth more than a one year deal, and he's going to get certainly at least a multiyear deal, he's a two year deal, some people get it. Then go get a three. I did a poll for the New York Post. Someone thought he'd get 5. I don't know, I think that's a guy who probably has a ground bobblehead in his bathroom or something. I don't know, but he's going to get a good contract much better than he's got. I would let him go through 64 innings this year, 4.3% of the season 4.3% of the innings that they needed. I mean, is it really worth spending 40 million plus on a baby? I think Texas might do it. I'm not sure who else. You know, to me they got too many other issues. This idea that this one, two punch is so great. I mean, if the starting pitching was as valuable as they say, the braves would have won more than one World Series, the Phillies, when they had holiday and Lee and all those guys, they didn't win. They won when they had before when they had Hamilton with their starters. I think the idea that this one two punch is, you know, gives you such an advantage. I think it's overrated, you know? I think when you get to the postseason, to me, I'd rather spend the money on the bullpen, they think the bullpen is, you know, I'm reliable, I don't know, they're going to have to bring Diaz back. I would try to bring nimmo back that's not going to be easy. You know I got a lot of work to do. They're going to have to spend a lot of money. They don't have the prospects that other teams may have. They do a baby potentially for third base and average for catcher, if not next year than a year from now, but they're going to have to spend a lot of money. Fortunately for them, they do have Steve Conan as their owners, so they do have a lot of money. They do. And it's funny. Nimmo is actually D as I completely agree. They got to bring him back. But nimmo is such a unique one to me. I just feel like nimmo nimmo is a good ball player. I played with nimo. He's a great guy. But I feel like someone in Major League Baseball is going to overpay for nimmo and nimmo will never do what he just did this year last two years ever again. And I know it's going to be the White Sox. Why? Because this just has White Sox written all over it. It could be, I mean, you know, they're a little short on the left, lefty hitting department. He would fit there. He'd fit a number of teams. He has been great the last at least the last couple of years. You know, we saw what ellsbury similar skill set get, what did he get over a $150 million? 9 years ago, right? It's going to be a large contract, probably a lot larger than any of us figured to start the year. Yeah. I'm not sure if he made his quite as much money as Aaron judge with the year that he had, but he made a lot of money and, you know, I mean, obviously the mets could move Marte center and live with that and maybe bring in a power hitter for right field. I don't know that it's going to be Aaron judge. I think the mets like everybody else thinks the likelihood is judge goes back to the Yankees, but I mean nimmo was wearing that uniform an hour later taking pictures.

You know that you know that you have some guys coming back and they're gonna fortify the lineup at some point so it really does feel good and i hope the same kind of the same idea or philosophy can fix the bullpen. Because dude this this crew is just tough like last night you get you get a bunch of you get a you get a triple a. Lineup giving you a giving you a to three or sixty two liter. Five to lead. Whatever it was at that time. In britain three straight hits gives up running gets that double play. I mean am. I going to call that lock I i don't know he just throwing some good pitches but he mostly wasn't locating around. Muto hit a fastball. Preeti far off the played could've taken ball one but he actum. Yeah so i'll take it. It's a gr- maybe that's a part. Maybe that's part of the confidence builder. That's accurate needs. I really don't know what him in chapman going through. I i i. Don't i every single time they come out. I'm scared when they have to pitch. You weren't comfortable seeing chapman. Come out old old a six three lady strikes out bryce harper and then he them a frigging moonshot to andrew mccutchen. And then it's a whole new game. Then he came back and was thrown triple digits and struck out. I think hoskins indeedy gregoria. So yes he ended the game on a high note for sure with three ks..

"On everything we saw on tuesday and on sunday Similar looking games slightly. Different outcomes you know one was a blowout against the stupid awful red sox in one was You know what ended up being somewhat of a squeaker against the phillies berlin because the phillies kept punching back Yankees bullpen waited out of a lot of problem areas. There were many opportunities late in that game. Where a lesser version of the yankees yankees team going through slum certainly would have blown the lead. Many of those leads were quite global. Never got blown pretty cool Yeah we're on a day on game five today of this new era The yankees were forced to do this. The it's not by choice. That greg alan and estevan flurry are here That was not like some grand plan but it may be should've been we were basically saying everybody was saying the lowest common denominator to the fan base was saying for months. This team couldn't possibly look worse with a slightly altered collection of people right the argument for making a trade and for quote unquote buying you know not making a blockbuster trade but at least buying a little bit is that you can't give up on a season when your team is like three out of a playoff spot in the loss column and adding legitimately anyone to the roster who provided athleticism speed defense lefty power like adding adding absolutely any available player. Who did those things change the lineup and might alter everything you put greg. Alan in he is tearing the cover of the ball. Hit one hundred five mile. An hour exit velocity triple on tuesday night the.

"This is the yanks go yard. Podcast with adam and thomas paranoia content welcome triumphant wednesday edition of the yard podcasts. I'm a wider belong side. Thomas karen day. How weird is it. That we've been yelling at the yankees for four months to add lefties and athleticism to the lineup. They do that. They start six on tuesday against the phillies partially by accident. And the turn around continues. Is this permanent. I don't know but does it prove how easy it is to fix this problem when we've been yelling for a long time about how no group of players could possibly look worse than what the already every day. Yeah yeah Yes make sure. Divide us on apple podcast. Google podcast spotify. Wherever you get your guests drop is a five star review along with the mail bag question. We'll be more than happy to answer it. Thomas karen day. Welcome to the podcast. It's now a three game. Winning streak azure will. Hausky starts on wednesday against a bullpen game for the phillies. That's going to be horribly ugly but we're riding high and this is now the most house money baseball game in a long time because the one three straight all very fun yet folks take the over. Today phillies bullpen twentieth. In the league asteroid. Your hausky hasn't thrown in a major league game. i don't think since two thousand nineteen So it'll be up to run-scoring today and based on this new liberation of the yankees. It looks like they're up to the task Like you said. Six lefty started yesterday The biggest key in this one. In my opinion. I watch game. Start to finish Was putting bat on ball regardless if it was if they were getting out or not six strikeouts on the night which has to be a among the season low for them Stanton of course two of those strikeouts. He does hit a home. Run to extend defy the to later in the game against a battered phillies bullpen But a lot of these the key for this game To me was Greg alan on third base in that top of the fourth inning. With one out in tyler wade putting that ball and play i understand he lined out but look what happens when you put the ball in play folks de makes a mistake or theresa. I don't know who it was the throw senior. Okay was it girl. I don't know they got a lot to do. Maybe yeah i think it was didi who through that ball to third And he was leading to third baseman together. I think terese was playing third. And it i don't. I don't entirely know what it was nonetheless putting the ball in play forces the defense to do something. They tried to double up greg allen instead throw the ball down the third baseline greg alan scores. It's tie game renewed energy stadium's going nuts New swagger on this team and you know what speaking of swagger We have the olympics euros. We have baseball summer. We got the major championships in concerts for the next few months in end. What is not in a wild hairy bush. The swag folks tame your cubes with help from our friends. at manscaping. the leaders in below the waist grooming their fourth generation performance package includes a brand.
