"The West is generally better than the east in the NBA there's more stars I think better. GM's. But this year in the regular season non bubble. Winning the West like the La Lakers did is not as impressive at first glance. Why with Clippers had two new stars had to work them into their system Paul George Miss Twenty two games. Blazers didn't have nurkic outside of the Bible and Mellow got acquired. Once the season already started. Denver Yokich was healthy but many of the young players other players were not Oklahoma City was a total rebuild Dallas porzingas Luca great both were hurt. So winning the West coming into the bubble is the number one seed. It's not your typical West it was deep but there were injuries Dan Tony Westbrook in hardened get thrust together and then Tony has an entirely different staff but now in the bubble. All of those issues. Have have saddled Houston staff Westbourne Hard Noor Kitchens back. Oklahoma City now is played together, and now the Lakers actually have issues no Rondo and Avery Bradley. The West is loaded teams like Portland. Houston are a nightmare if you're struggling at guards defensively so might might take away has been the Lakers took advantage because Lebron eighty worked very well quickly they took advantage of a regular season West that was in transition, but I feel like in a bubble. The Lakers now without Bradley and Rondo defensively have some transition some some perimeter gardening issues everybody else is more settled. So the Lakers aren't really as formidable one as people think. I think there's certainly some truth to that I. Think that the Lakers problems. You can throw the Bradley situation certainly at the top of the pile because Bradley. Is The guy. GonNa we'll need against these top like ours potentially beginning as early as the first round. Yes. which could be an absolute nightmare. Yeah. For the Lakers blazers wind up. With, that number one seat and what a story would be for Carmelo to go up against the Ron, it may be his last trance if you anything substantial in his career, but that's here nor there the Lakers. To to me, one of their problems and questions coming into this postseason is one of the problems and questions you had beginning the regular season. That's can they get enough? I mean, you're not worried about Lebron and him coming around you're not worried about Anthony Davis these guys are going to be great..

Biggest Takeaways from Week 1 of College Football
"From the never ending drama of Antonio brown and the raiders to another week of college football let's bring in ESPN college football insider Phil Steele for some insight and Phil before we look ahead let's look back what was the biggest thing you learned from week one of the biggest challenges that the group of five does have a chance to go on when I woke magazine I thought all the group of five teams would have one boss became wait very impressed with boys the Cincinnati you see Arafat I think there is a legitimate chance of group product he does run the Cablevision I was focused on the to ABC gamestop Franklin to getting number twelve Texas a and M. Saturday afternoon Trevor large through a pair picks the Tigers opener offense paced by A. T. and in the ground game what do you need to see from Lawrence against the Aggies. well how about a performance I mean I expected server once the clearly the best quarterback in college football this year I don't think he will be white guys going to have to cut down on the intersections and then last year only had nine interceptions born of sections in the open so they're going to improve secondary I think that's going to be the key because Colin mind I believe will move the football I love Clemson be part to took over four hundred yards last year it comes in at a great defense of one they accounted for four touchdowns in the opener as well it's a top ten match up on Saturday night later on Ellis you getting Texas Sam L. in Europe and borrow both combined for nine touchdown passes last week what are you expecting when they do step on the same field. our I think we'll have a little bit lower scoring game in which you might be anticipating but I do think quarterbacks will live I'm really impressed with how Joe burrows picked up a new offense William classes there now and you know just gonna have to build up a big game. the top six are running backs but guaranteeing them is there yeah I think if you play the game on paper I wish you probably went to stand by time but it's not played on paper and Thomas one of the best underdog coaches out there even underdogs sixteen times in his coaching career one fourteen into a dentist but with eleven I wake up sets and then a large home dog VS the openness scale come it's all the way up to six and a half I'm gonna think it's gonna be closer than the experts expect their game to look forward to Jalin hurts over five hundred your mind it is Oklahoma debut six total touchdowns in his first game for the Sooners Oklahoma has the last two Heisman winners coming into this season would be fair to characterize Lincoln Riley is the quarterback Whisperer. yeah absolutely quote about cool whatever you want you know last year I had been a warning quarterback the previous year and I said you know Alan Murray is gonna have great staff this year but the way this March break the Mayfield stopped many surpassed them and others a chance hurts to do even better you see so many open receivers Amazon mom and I love the way he works with these quarterbacks remember hurts did hit seventy percent in Alabama last year well do ya he's my official quarterback who were. it's interesting because he was a big time when our banner bam I think was twenty six into as a starter did you see ways that Oklahoma use them that you didn't see at Alabama. Iago Luxottica tomorrow's offense different the one Alabama is run especially when her through the quarterback there were more of a one of the offense because they open up last year with two a and I think you saw him be able to solve the problem I like the way you get seventy percent of his passes the family on those receivers are just so open not only surprised me at the top customers stats from last year it was a phenomenal

"Didn't I don't question. I mean, a high scoring game like that go ahead and try to stop us. That's my attitude on the two point conversion what about what happened at the end. And I was happy fill with Gundy decided to go forward against Baylor at the end of the game. Because I I like Baylor a lot last week. But I what about the play call and it running it straight up the middle. They run a sweep with Cornelius and he get sacked for nine yards and all Baylor needed was a field goal. And you could make the case if you wanted to pump would have been fine there, although the wind was giving them fits. But boy that was that was a tough one. Yeah. I agree. And you know, good good for Baylor. Though. I mean when I talked to coach role this spring going over the team with them. I wasn't expecting too much. But he wrapped up the conversation by saying we should make a bowl game share. And I was sort of struck me a little bit because the schedule and I didn't see him favourite in six games this year. But right now, they got five they just need one more. And they're in a ball. Talking to Phil Steele as we do every Thursday looking back and look at ahead as far as this week is concerned. Let me start here. We'll since we always talk about Bama, I know Mississippi Santa's good defense. But I don't know if you can make a big enough line for Alabama. But there at twenty three and a half. What do you think? Yeah. Generally what happens? This time of year is your top ranked teams one two three four five six that are playing with playoff pressure start to not cover the spread. They start playing a little tight because of what's going on the players start worrying about the rankings who's ranked where and what and we see a lot of the underdogs cover. I went back and looked at we've always last year. And then the four years of this fourteen playoff that top seven teams. I believe her hit like thirty five or thirty eight percent against the spread bought in this case, I do like Alabama for this fact, Mississippi State said three games this year scored seven points against Kentucky. They scored six point Florida. They scored three against LSU. And I can argue that right now the current Alabama defense is better than all three of those Alabama's got this game at home. And do you remember last year, Alabama's banged up at linebacker went to Mississippi State, and they barely survive. They trailed the good portion of the game and escaped with a seven point win. So I think they. Come well prepared. We all know that mobile quarterbacks. Get Bama trouble. They haven't taken on anybody like they could Sherwood yet this year, but I like the tide and that defense to really shutdown Mississippi State. Offense to get about thirty five thirty eight points. Tomorrow night, Fresno goes to Boise. When is the last am Boise is been an underdog on the blue turf, they're getting two and a half points against Fresno state. Okay. That'd be a fun game to watch. I didn't see that one shaking out where looking for an answer on that kind of eighteen years. Eighteen years exactly how I tweeted that out earlier this week. And so it has been a long time since the blue turf they've been a home underdog, and I deserve to be look at Fresno defensively, they are outstanding this year. They're one of those teams holding the phone wave low their season average Boise seems to play really good for two quarters. And then they have to bad quarters and almost every game and Fresno, just consistent. They don't try to do a lot on offense. But the offense is getting better orcas mcbarron made the Maxwell list one of the top book twenty offense players. So I was playing with some legitimate revenge. I think the almost could've beaten Boise on the road. Probably shoulda hosted about what's title game. I like Fresno to come out of there with the win. If you don't do it right now. Phil makes you do it before we get done talking. Just tell me don't bet East Carolina, again, just stop it with these Carolina. It doesn't matter five hundred yards a week. It doesn't matter if this score forty points. I mean Nike this team's killing me this year. I mean every time I look at their stats, and then if they happen to be on TV, I'll watch them their offense, and they're moving up and down there, Dan. And then and then they get beat by twenty five points. I I just I I gotta quit them. Yeah. And I I agree with you. I was writing my inside the press box newsletter this week and going through that game. And I'm like boy east Carolina's so much even Memphis last week. They could easily have covered that game the almost every single game this season. And then at the end of it, you're like, well, they lost. And I I have tossed in the towel. I lane with them this week against who ain't but I would not play them because two lane has been pretty good. Remember that Memphis game. Just ran the ball right down. Memphis is throat that makes them a pretty scary team at this point. And they're gonna be a tough test for Houston next week. But that is a game where you have to think you like, he's Carolina. And then just like you said ake slap your own hand and say, no not gonna do it again. I mean, they had a chance for backdoor cover covering. They have fourth and one at their own Memphis seven down fifty nine forty one. And they throw the ball with men. They just run the ball and run the ball game. Four more downs you cover, and it's not like they were worried about covering, but dammit, East Carolina. What about me out here in San Francisco, right? Here's one I like a quite a bit this week. Arkansas is getting thirteen and a half against issue. I think LSU is obviously more talented, but I've seen Arkansas play a number of times this year. I mean, they moved the ball in Alabama the the thirty one to three or thirty four to three against Auburn was a game that wasn't even the much closer to that line. Or that score would indicate they only lost two am by seven. They outgained vandy. But and they'll lose my fourteen because a turnovers I just think they're going to be fired up when they see those LSU helmets come to Fayetteville and LSU's going to think. Arkansas two and seven after we just got through playing Bama. I can't imagine them getting up for that game. So not just motivational edge. I think I think they have it filled. But I also think they might be a little bit better than people think they are especially on the defensive side of the ball. They're actually holding the phone for thirty six yards below their season. Averages you touched on four hundred and five yards against bam. If they don't fumble into the end zone at thanks twenty one to fourteen second quarter against Alabama. And I I love the way they were keen boy is running the football story should be a hundred percent healthy here. And they're awful by which is nice LSU's off the biggest game of the season. And if you go back and look at the series history. Even just the last ten years Arkansas always plays LSU top. They're always in a nice situational edge there at home. It's your final home game. I clearly like the dog dare even though it's tough going against LSU LSU's a team where two weeks ago when they played Mississippi State with a minute to go in the half did fifteen total yards offense. And yet they were winning game seven. Two three or seven and nothing at that point. So they don't have an explosive offense. It's going to get a lot of margin talking to Phil Steele as we do every single week. You teased us with this before clemson's given twenty at BC, and you like. I do like these see plus appoints in this one. Yes, you know, the one biggest edge clemson's got on defense is that defensive line Boston. College is one of the nation's best offensive lines. Have only allowed thirteen sacks all year. They run the ball. Well, I think they could slow down that defensive prod we've seen beef. It'd be pretty dominant at home at night. And remember the Miami of Florida game a couple of weeks back. They always play great red bandanna game like that. Well, it's just not a red bandanna game. They'll be fired up for Clemson coming in with game day on hand should be the same type of emotion AJ Dylan's should be. He's not going to be a hundred percent. But let's he's ninety percent. Ninety percent AJ Dylan is pretty good. And the only other time Clemson traveled on the road at night was that second game of the season against Texas saying they've got outgained by eighty eight yards escaped with the two point win. Now, they're starting to play with pressure. Now, you've got inflated spreads because all the big favorites. One last week. I'll take the huge points with a dangerous Boston College at all. I love favorites. But what about West Virginia? Phil. I think TCU is. I don't know if they acted inter now. But they they clearly are not where they thought they would be at this point of the season. And it's just kind of started. I thought they were going to be really good when they played Ohio State at that. Wow. This team could be the be something. They haven't been something West Virginia coming off the big win against Texas. And they're gonna be battling for one of those top two spots in the in the big twelve so they can get to the title game. Again. It's a lot of points eleven and a half. I think but I think there's a game that the West Virginia may take to them. I would think that if TC lost last week. I ended up pulling out the win over Kansas state. And the one thing that's been solid all year for TCU has been the defense holding opponents to ninety yards below their season average, pretty good total. West Virginia did struggle at home earlier against Kansas off a big win. They they only have Oklahoma state on deck, but we still still be fired up for that. And Gary Patterson's pretty dangerous as a dog on paper, West Virginia. My computer's got him winning by sixteen I believe, but I'm just a little concerned about that defense, Gary Patterson, and the fact they won last week so TCU still showing signs of life. What about bedlam? Blow up. We'll keep it in the we'll keep it in the B category there, and you know, Columbus states one big game. This year was taxes. They were they rallied everything Texas was missing their two Cornerbacks for the first quarter almost say that two hundred and fifty yards in the first quarter. They got their Cornerbacks back to fifty the rest of the game held on for a three point win. But this is on the road this in Oklahoma offense at six hundred ninety three yards last week. It's just a rival why not step on them when they're down and they're down. And let's compare just a couple of scores. Oklahoma beat Kansas state, fifty one to fourteen Kansas state beat Oklahoma state handily. It was thirty one to twelve. So it's an Oklahoma state team. That's struggling I like the favorite now on the last one Washington state, traveling to Colorado, and Colorado is one of those teams that while they cut a look you. They look good Montanez looks good. And they they just they're finding ways to lose now. And I'm just wondering if this is a game. They'll they'll rally up for in boulder. I think they're getting six at home. Against Washington state, Washington state heck of a time with cow last week at home at you. See this one shaking out. Got intercepted in the end zone. Backup quarterback mcelwain Mr. turnover himself reception the end zone. I liked Washington state last week. And I was surprised only one by six LA viscous Chenault. That's gonna throughout their first five games of the season. They had LA vista. And they were great. And now he's missed the last four but each week he's questionable. If he comes back and place. I think Colorado pull the upset. I mean, he's a guy that hurts you as a wide receiver running back quarterback, kick, returner, prop returner. I I'm not sure if he's going to be able to play this week. But if he does if you hear a late report viscous should all it's gonna play boom back Colorado because they could actually pull the upset. That's one. All right, Phil as always great stuff. We appreciate it. We'll talk to you next week. Thanks. All right. Sounds great have fun weekend fill. There is the great Phil still make sure you're falling on Twitter, Phil still zero forty two and Phil Steele dot com. He's got to all sorts of.

"Are you not gonna then place it for the casual better? You'll be legal. You have a legal options, correct? Correct. Then that's if they wanna put those out of business, they got off fair market, you. But you know, if you go all the way there and you're kind of emotional built in, you really not going to place a bet. 'cause it's another forty cents. Some people say no, some people say yes, I think it'll be fascinating to follow. And obviously there's, you know, there's going to be bumps in the road. This is one of the bumps and we'll see how it all shakes out. Agree with that. I hope everybody keeps perspective very, we're creating basically a hundred billion dollar market from scratch your almost here in the US basically. So there are going to be hiccups, there are going to be scandals and they're going to be people screw things up. Handles screwed something up last week about closing before they able to cash tickets and telling people that you know cash the ticket, and then they couldn't do it because the vault was closed. But I think there are going to be some hiccups and some growing pains. We keep them all in perspective burden. We appreciate it as always think I've talked to you more this week than my girlfriend. Re-taping this on Thursday, just kind of gambling storylines to watch. I think you know, Cleveland Browns over five and a half wins believe the Indianapolis Colts now with Andrew luck shoulder looking. Okay. But they have the fewest bets to win Super Bowl at west gate, stuff like that already been a lot of big injuries. I, I think there's a distinction for gamblers versus the common fan, but Daryl Williams the, you know, Carolina Panthers right tackle. That's a big injury, especially when you're left tackle as Mackel. And so things like that have already happened. We'll be following those an interesting piece as well from Purdham and Rosenberg on five ways. Technology can impact sports betting. "There was a lot of different nuance, innovative type stuff on the drafting after they gave us kind of look through. There's gonna be a cash out button where you can cash out your bit early. Reduce God's, you know, whatever odd reflective of at the gates at that point that's popular in Europe. I don't believe any other US book and had that until now. So that was interesting. I thought. Yeah, definitely, definitely. Interesting. And I think you know at similar with the NBA same thing with New Jersey, these are all just, you know, the new innovations in a new world that we kind of without the NBA might do this or other leagues, but we weren't sure. And again, when you have more people in the mobile space in any sports betting stays and especially with technology and the apps, there's going to be continued innovation. The cash out thing seems to make sense. I know we've gone back and forth, certainly on the odds in New Jersey and we'll be looking more kind of into it. What have you heard slash been tweeted at a bunch about the different odds in sports books and mobile and fan versus draftkings versus MGM, et cetera? There's a lot of complaints right now about the prices on baseball and the and the straddle. Usually, you know, Vada uses a ten or twenty line that's pretty consistent across the the market off shore as well. Some of the baseball prices that came out of fan draftkings books in New Jersey have been exceptionally higher than that. Thirty five there. The line tweeted last night out of screen shot or the app. It was just sixty five cent, baseball line. I mean, that is really, really extraordinary. What way higher than anything we've been used to again, understand that people don't have to place a bet they're not forced to if you don't like the odds, you don't have to do it, but this definitely causing the Android draftkings a lot, Chris. Well, that's the other part of it, right? It's not. They're not making people bad, but you know. There's a branding so to speak. There's there's a credibility in the industry. And if the straddle is gonna be that wide is just unacceptable. But you know, every better doesn't have to bet it. I mean, that's I, I'm a big fan of of tons of. I don't even care live wagering as a forty cents straddle because you know there's going to be an opportunity where you need to play out of position manager portfolio Cordingley, but you're also not going to get the handle you want and it's all about supply and demand. Now the question is if people are just stupid. Well, we see that with other industries like, I don't know boos or cigarettes or whatever. I mean, there's there's extortion cigarettes, a lot of people who smoke, but like you don't have to do it. So it is interesting, but you're right. There is a there is a branding, an image thing too. It's definitely getting there. There is a lot of social media as part of the problem is right now that you can't access Bandou draftkings lying's online anywhere. You know, we can all go to a dog best or a Vegas inside or a ton of different sports on ESPN even has a feed on our ESPN chalk section that you can look at and see the prices that each individual book. Well, that's not possible right now at fan draftkings. I actually called the sports book and they wouldn't even give me tell me what the where they said they were. You have to be here in person. And I was like, well, I'm a member of the and I'm just trying to get these odds. They wouldn't do it. So I think they probably have an idea or where of the criticism that they're receiving. I'm just not sure they're reacting to it very quickly, and frankly, they want, they may say, well, we'll take the heat because you've got this huge margins, and we're still in people to bet it. It's the new restaurant, right? Is a bunch of restaurants you can go to, but it's the new one. Bright and shiny, and they have the dishes you want. It may just cost fifteen dollars more than everything else. But again, it doesn't mean you have to go there. I think the issue is that especially, you know, you drive twenty miles. You go to the sports book if you really like a bet..

"It's not like someone like myself who's barely ever painted anything walks into Home Depot and says, and sees a bunch of paint cans and says, I'm gonna get DuPont because Jeff Gordon, no, but the name recognition, I might get DuPont. I might trust that brand more. So it's a peeling to sports bettors and people in the arena and things like that. So when people want to open an app, open count in state, they might be more inclined to do MGM at because they've they're more familiar with the brand. I mean, that's like advertising one, oh one. So I think that's what it is and the excuse me the NBA knows it has value on that front and platform, and that's why it's a cash grab. It's twenty five million for three years. Only remember could be three times that in three years on the next deal. And it also opens the door for other a gaming operators. Agreed. And I think some of the key moments from Silverton urines, press conference. There they talked about this. This is really, you know, baseline deal. There's a lot of felixibility at it, kinda review it make tweaks and stuff. It was just basically the NBA wanted to go first and pick its partner, and they thought MGM was the best partner to picks. They didn't want to get anybody else about any of these other leagues or somebody to swoop in there and get the first pick. So the India got who they wanted now, though this kind of deal with them throughout the years and see how this everything evolves and transitions. So I guess my question would be, let's say, Nevada, you've been getting this data for whatever, you know, smaller price what is to stop the other sports leagues like the NFL from making the exact same deal and having, let's say, MGM have to, hey, I guess choose to pay for data feed from the NFL from the NBA from the NHL from all these other Lee. Leagues. Good question. We kinda called around checked in with some of the sports leagues, and nobody was really reacting to it to the deal with GM and the so kind of a wait and see. I don't think anybody knows that this time you would assume that the other leagues are going to want to do this, but I can't believe the NFL would want to do any of you for twenty five million deals are in the hundreds of millions NBA's really. If you look at some of their passes deals with the company like sports radars radar, and etc. Those are, you know, hundred million plus deals. So while we set the market, it got pretty low. So it'll be interesting to see if these other leagues even want to bother with that. Yeah. I mean, I don't want to regurgitate it what we talked about earlier bit, but it's just it's a nice partnership. It's a win win for both sides, but it's very elementary. I think this data feeds a little misleading and I just think it was a little bit of a dog and pony show, but that's my initial take will see as the gaming industry Volve and more states are legal and more apps. Maybe there's going to be advantageous, but I don't think MGM's all of a sudden go off market. I think they're gonna stay on market because they, they want to their liability and all that risk management. So I don't think it even matters to have some of this data. Does it change the point spreads for sure. There's nothing in there. Again, once we get into a more evolved, mature US market that if it follows the victory of Europe where more money is bet on in games and pre-game than that could be valuable, especially the speed of it. Well, speaking of app betting big week for New Jersey, they joined the the party within the Vada. You have some stories on that draft kings would what's the latest there. Yeah, Jackie's launched kind of soft launch of their sports betting act yesterday in New Jersey. People can register for the app and then they're going to select trial group. Basically kinda run through everything trial will be allowed to wage real money and see how everything works..

"Let's NBA pick out of all the potential partners go first and land that pick it also set up a market created a market for the NBA's product in terms of their data. And their logos and their monikers this direct data feed that they offering. So before that in none of the states wanted to pay for any of that stuff. So there really wasn't a market now there is a market. So the other sportsbook operators will have to say, okay, this is what they gave 'em GM for this much money is that worth it to us. So I think is probably a win win on both sides of it, but maybe not the greatest scale simply a lot to unpack there. I think what is fascinating, you know, especially from a sports perspective, right? Like we always have these wide receivers and people signing resetting the market. There is no market. This is now the market three years, twenty five million dollars for this data as you said video and the video's reporting. Because if you're a better, you don't really know things that you see video on your betting app kinda like indirectly. Validates. I agree. Purdham I guess I'd say two things. You know, we don't really. We know where the market is going. 'cause obviously the market is what someone will pay for it, and that's currently what the MGM has done. Do we think other sports books will follow because this is not proprietary to the MGM Caesar's tomorrow could sign a deal with the NBA for the same thing without being the quote, official gaming partner of the NBA and then how important, I guess for down the road and in game, do we think this data really is. First question, I would say that from the old school Las Vegas operator sportsbook operators that I spoke to this week after the deal there is there grumbling. They're like, why would GM do this? You know, do we have to do this now? So they are a little bit concerned about it. You would have to think that someone at sometime we'll follow suit. Maybe that will be a different state Bill or new new sportsbook operator, maybe some of the daily fantasy companies do some sort of partnership with the league's that way. The second question, how important is that day? It's very interesting question, and I don't think anybody has full grasp of the answer right now. The data that they're going to get is pretty much no different than what we get ESPN in terms of the box scores, statistics, those kind of information. The biggest value of that is the direct feed from the should be quicker in transmitting that data. So what you mentioned in game, and we start seeing a rise in popularity of betting on in game, but it's then the people that have access to the fastest data, we'll have an advantage. I question that I feel I said earlier, but it feels like it's a money grab in roundabout way from the integrity fee. I think the NBA sort of realized they were never gonna get this thing called the integrity fee because it sends the wrong message. They're saying, all right, pay us money because we do have you are value is sitting on a day next to a gaming operator and sort of helping erode the stigma of gambling we validate you. You got to pay for that because you're right. When this integrity thing came about longtime ago was like, they don't need you. They need a boxer and then monitor the box scores. I could be different with the data feed now could be different in the live wagering down the road, but this was this was a, I think, a cash grab. For twenty five million that's well cash. Grab to set the market at twenty five million from them, but from others because the gaming industry, the sports book operator, in this case, MGM needs sort of like the NBA in that regard, like the NBA will. First of all, let's take a step back. This is also getting an MBA team in Las Vegas. The MGM owns the aces they don't want the aces per se. They didn't want originally, but this is a stepping stone to a partnership ficials sponsor of summer league, and they want to build an arena that has an NBA team..

"These are basically point spreads looking ahead for most of the weeks of the season sports books pick out a couple of games each week that they think will get action may be interesting will generate some hype. One. I wanted to go to Saturday, November tenth, Clemson, and BC. I thought you right up was very spot on that we had on chalk about. Basically the misleading final score that was in last season's game, talked me a little bit about this game, especially. I know clemson's defensive line is going to be a terror for everyone to block, but how do you see this one playing out. Yeah, I think I'm going to be pro Boston College almost every week is I think the average fan looks at BCC's the fact under a does heal. They have a one more seven games in any of the years, and there's no preseason expectations for this team at all, but they are loaded and remember last year they opened up the season two and five and everybody's thinking or to enforce it say it's just your typical BC team, and then they hitched wagon to AJ Bill, and then they were completely different team. And even in the bowl game, they completely dominated the first half against will last year, but then ended up due to the the slippery conditions. Dylan could never get on hitch, but Dylan's back to hundred fifty pounds. One of the best running backs in the country. When I talked to coach adagio this spring, he'd likes the speed. They have it receiver for once. It's always been a weakness. That too tight end offense, I think is a large advantage when specially as a mentioned, all the coaches talking about moving that third linebacker spot to a safety slice linebacker. You can bring to tight ends in like. Stanford, you've got a technical advantage offense lines, one of the very best in the country, Anthony, Brown's, back after missing last few games last year defensively, watch that gallon, the white Ray at defensive end. And last year they lost all their key players. I mean, you know up front, they lost here Landry they lost their top linebacker counter and their second best linebacker went down with injury. Mex- Richardson, they lost their top safety injury. Those guys are all back. They're loaded defensively atop twenty defense running game quarterback. They've got everything. Now, as you touched on last year when they face Clemson at seven, seven in the fourth quarter. And yet if you just check with five forty one to go by the way, and then you check the final scores of the games and you see that they lost thirty four to seven, and you're like, well, there's a blowout game, and I think that's created some line. You hear Boston College is at home in cold weather against Clemson. And so the line is over two touchdowns right now at fifteen and a half. I'm taking the points in this one and when even surprised me. Me, there's a possible upset and one final thing to throw in Clemson, just seven and eleven against the spread is in favor. A lot of good write ups on here, and I urge everyone go check it out on ESPN shock one more for the podcast, but there's much more on the website and we're going to go off outside the power, five BYU at Boise state on the Smurfs turf. Yeah. The amazing thing here remember Doug when Boise state to just automatic play. Boise stayed at home blue turf. They win and cover almost every week. Well, what's happened is biggest made the compensation for that. And in fact, Boise is now paying such a high price when they're at home that their foreign fifteen against the Las Vegas number as a home favourite. And here's a BYU team that last year just struggled offense. I mean they were what's views face it. They were feeble on offense. In the first half of the season scoring touchdown was a struggle. They got a little better in the second half of the year, but now they have new offense coordinator, Jeff Grimes. And I think last year's offense was a poor fit for Tanner Mangum a QB Mangum..

"He's inherited a lot of times new head coaches, they'll say, well, I don't know what I have here. I don't know to coach taker was not like that at all. He likes the talent that he inherited pretty giddy about it actually. And as you touch out last year, there sees oneself partially when France, while when out with injury and the first game of the season against Alabama. Now, the Alabama game last year, they lost by seventeen points. You say while they were not competitive, but they actually had a fifteen to thirteen I down, we're only gained by nineteen yards an loss or quarterback in the fourth quarter, you look at some of their all their losses last year. Teams issues to that just Ravel's remember college football, unlike high school, even I'm like, the NFL has no preseason. So something like like a special teams really glaring when you don't have that speed and practice, whatever. It's a lot of unknown variable. Nothing they would have won. This team was less than a touchdown, underdog, bam, on a neutral ash year and they're bringing, you know a lot lot back. Yeah. And then you look at the NC state game at six point loss. How about Miami of Florida? Miami needed a touchdown, pass with what three seconds left to beat them. The Louisville game Florida state had the ball on the Louisville side of the field in a tie game sitting up for the winning field goal. They fumble. Louisville, goes down, gets a field goal. The beat them, the Boston College game may have been a little bit of a hangover from the Lula loss. And then the Clemson game, fourth quarter, six minutes to go Florida state in the middle of six regular season had the ball and Clemson side of the field down by three points with six minutes ago. In the game. So they made a game of it. There you look at their schedule this year, they get Clemson at home. They get Boston College at home, Florida at home. They do have a tough road schedule, but I think flu Louisville's winnable even the Miami Florida game is winnable. Teams are fairly close allies and see state loss or entire defensive line from last year. I think Notre Dame's going to be tough for him, but he added all up. There's a lot of experience coming back, eight starters on offense. I think they get their best offense align play. They've had years, you know, when you have the pro style offense, it's tougher for an offensive line spread style. We can see improvement. Remember what Joe Moorhead did at Penn State when he brought the spread, they're all of a sudden they sacked total one way down and Taggart likes his offense alive and this year. So ended all up a really. I'm surprised the number. Doug is only seven and a half on that one. Why I know things like our football power index, we do. That's very sharp ESPN. One thing they overlook in college football, they don't take into account injuries for quarterbacks, which I think is enormous. Now, I know. We've had other sort of analytics guys in the gambling space on this podcast, and they talk about how there's such an overreaction injuries because anytime there is an injury that's already built in the line is not a, you know about the injury in the odds makers don't. Sometimes there's an overreaction, but subbing that's not built in the line is maybe a center which is very valuable in the NFL things like that. So, but I'm surprised if PI I mean, because there is such a disparity, there's obviously more teams in college football, and there's a large gap at some schools, even a blueblood, like Florida state between the starter and backup. And we saw that last year in Blackman's first couple of games. Yeah, it was a huge difference. And you know, black went through learning experience. He was running the the pro style offense that they've Randy took a lot of hits last year, but only completed fifty, five percent. And you know, when you look at the overall ratio last year nineteen, eleven not bad, but really he did not come near what? France. Why did the previous year. I fell will head over to games of the year posted at west gate and others..

"Sean Robinson. He was my number seven rated QB coming out of high school. I think he's in for a good year. And while the offense of line is young, you go back and look at the history of Patterson over the last ten years. Generally when he's got a young offense of line, he develops awhile and they end up better stance and they did the year before. So I know this guy can take a young offensive line and do well with it. Now the schedule, they do have to play Texas on the road, and they also have to play West Virginia on the road, but they get Oklahoma at home, which is big. And I think this is TCU team with the defense special teams and sneakily good offense. And there's no dominant team in the big twelve this year. So if they can run the table or get close to maybe one loss get to that big, twelve title game and winning. She's got a great shot at making the playoffs and win the division never gonna feel dumb, taking a bet on Gary Patterson. There's any coaches done more with less. Maybe Chris Peterson, but those two guys really establish themselves and Peterson's finally getting some recruits and he's shown that he can play with the big boys as he's prove. In some bowl games over the years, just really, really impressive. So I like that value. Let's let's switch to over unders season win, total bets. One that sort of jumped out at me and we can talk about a few of them, obviously, is UCLA under there's a lot of into it. There's not not just drinking, but there's chugging of the Kool aid out there in Westwood as a guy, I'm unconcerned with chip Kelly, go in there and sort of restoring that program. I know things don't happen overnight, and that's kind of what you talk about. You like under five and a half wins. Yeah. And you think of under five and a half. So UCLA basically has to win six to beach here and get to a bowl game. Now they've got a couple of things that really bothered me. First of all, chip Kelly was way ahead of the game when he went to work and you know the spread offense was new. The fast paced tempo was new and they were winning ten games every single year. He was there at least ten games while he doesn't have that advantage anymore effect. When you talk to coaches and this year talked over a hundred coaches, everybody's using that third linebacker spot as safety slash linebacker the deal with everybody running the spread and everybody running temple. So no longer that big advantage there. Also when he was at Oregon, they had the advantage of the facilities being better than everybody else. And now everybody's in a facility building thing, it's just a big race to be the biggest and best. The other two factors look at is experience level. You know, last year Josh Rosen was there. They lose him. They ran a pro style offense, moving to the spread offense of lines. To run new schemes. They got a true freshman most likely going to win the quarterback spot and overall UCLA roles in at number one hundred eighteen in my experience shirt. And let's keep in mind their defense last year while banged up on the defensive line gave up five point eight yards per carry. Two hundred sixty seven yards per game rush. Those are ridiculously bad totals. I don't think he's gonna sprinkle some very distant defensive front seven and get into all of a sudden become a dominant defensive front seven. And then the final factor when I look at UCLA the schedule actually right at the toughest schedule in the country out of north, they draw the top three teams, Washington, Oregon, and Stanford. They draw Oklahoma on the road. Fresno state while once team. Fresno state is one of the top teams in the mountain west. That's going to be difficult, especially with an experience for as no team and even the weakest team on their schedule Cincinnati as a potential of getting to a bowl..

"Okay. So let's go to conference odds because there's all also future, right? We know about the college football championship futures, but there are other futures Schwarz's board of them as well. Let's talk about value in various conferences, star with Michigan state who you also like at forty two one to win at all, but you think there's value of them capturing the big ten big thing with Michigan state last year, you know, they're coming off a four win season. There weren't there. They are the least experience team in the country. Last year. There's one hundred twenty nine teams. They were number one hundred twenty nine on the experienced chart, and they still manage ever pretty good year. Now they probably did it with a little bit of smoking mirrors. They probably weren't as good as at three. But this year there are much more veteran team that defensive line last year which walk on in there and zero experience play pretty well. Now they've got practically everybody back the entire defensive. Got nine starters back ten. Starters back on offense, including Brian, the worke LJ Scott finally got, I think, two thousand yard season this year. And if you watch a Michigan state games in the second half, you had to come away impressed with every seeming core ofensive Linus salad. Then you look at Michigan state schedule this year. You know, they play one team on the road this year, then had a winning record that's Penn State. They do have to play him in Happy Valley, Penn State's off a bye. It's gonna be a tough test. Clearly. They're gonna be underdog there. They're also underdog against Ohio State, but the last time I'll state came to east Lansing. There was a one point game seventeen sixteen, and so they're capable of getting that now with the coaching thing, you wonder what kind of shape Ohio State will be at the end of the year. So here's a team where if they have one loss at the end of the year, chances are they're gonna make the big ten championship game, and the odds are still pretty heavy at ten to one. And the thing I went back and looked at Doug was the how many times teams graded six to one or more actually wanna conference. As you think? Well, it's just the big boys. It's basically happened twice a year every year for like the last three years. So there's always a lot of teams that are way off the radar that end up winning the conference. And I think Michigan state is one of five legitimate contenders and you know, they're priced lot higher at ten to one odds. And the other guys are being six to one one, the big, twelve TCU an interesting as well. Gary. Patterson always says a very competitive team there, either right there or game or too short. It seems like Oklahoma minus one twenty, Texas plus two fifty West Virginia, five to one and TCU six to one at west gate to win the big twelve while you're like, TCU. Well, I think a lot of folks when they analyze the team in the off season, they like the easiest way to do it. And the way most folks do is you look at the quarterback running back and receivers because that's the best way to digest team. And if you look at TCU got a new quarterback this year, you look at their offensive line. They basically have just two starters returning up front. So the young there and you wonder a little bit about TCU, but I read them the best defense in the big twelve and to meet defense always give you a chance to win championships. So they're under rated Naveh respect. They got been Bana goo at defensive end watch this guy. This year could be the big, ten big twelve defensive player of the year. That linebacking corps was young last year now has experienced a secondary solid throughout nother underrated group. Special teams. I read in the number three special teams in the country. So this team capable of winning with defense and special teams spot. Their new quarterback is.

"Now they do have to play three of the top teams from the pack, twelve north, they play Washington, but get him at home, Oregon at home in Stanford on the road. I only have an underdog in two games this year home against Washington, and at Stanford I've got him favored in the rest of the games. So they're just enough set are two away from actually getting their if they're in the Pac twelve south, which is wide open this year and get there with, let's say, one loss win, maybe upset and undefeated Washington. Then they've got a shot of making the playoffs. And I'd looked at that hundred to one and I'm thinking that should be more like thirty two one or forty one. So it's worth a nice little wager there in Utah too. Probably get there because if team gets into a championship game, they've got a real good chance of making the playoffs. And I was just about to talk about that. And our next team that I'm gonna bring up is that you can always play out of these long positions. So one hundred one. That's something you can start playing some. Yes, no props, maybe entering the once they reached the playoff things along those lines. And because I want a segue to at three hundred to one now I'm not saying the hawk is the best team in the country, but I like your logic. Here. They get Wisconsin at home, and we know because the divisions that division always tried to avoid the always gets to avoid the big boys. They are at Happy Valley, but you see value in the Hawkeyes at three hundred one. Yeah. And you know, clearly people, Wisconsin and I on a neutral field. I'm gonna take the badgers all day all night. They're the better team. In fact, I've got I awaited number thirty five and my power pole, and I've got Wisconsin number five. Wisconsin's, oh, prohibitive favorite to win the big ten west, but I wanna point out that last year. Wisconsin in their undefeated. Regular season have five road games. They came against five teams had losing records last year this year they have to play in Kinnock against Iowa, Michigan in Ann Arbor, northwestern Penn State and Happy Valley and produce. So five teams that were involved last year. Three of them of we're going to be right at the start of the year, so much tougher road scheduling the opposite. True for our last year while they were battling to face Ohio State at Michigan state Penn State this year, the schedules a lot easier. And how about that? Kennex stadium, magic, two years ago, we saw them up number two, Michigan last year. Penn State needed a touchdown, pass on the final play of the game to Java two point win and fifty five twenty four against. So I all stayed. I'm still scratching my head over that one, Doug. So when you're looking, I wha this year they get Wisconsin at home. They get northwestern at home. Nebraska home and their road games are pretty manageable, Minnesota, Indiana Purdue annoy all very winnable. The Penn State game, happy valley's tough. But once again, if I will was upset Wisconsin at home..

"Seventeen returning starters, nine on defense, and while vita, they is a huge loss on the defensive tackle spot. The rest of the DA's back. I actually have Washington list as my number five defense in the country, including my number two defensive backs, and then offense. You know, Jake Browning went from forty three touchdown passes two years ago to just nineteen last year. I think he regained at sixteen four miles Gaskins top thirteen. Hundred yards, rushing three straight years, and my number thirteen raided offense of line. So if they get passed over and a big, if they will be favored and all the rest of their games. So they're minus two hundred to reach the playoff according to the west gate, which I mean, let's face it. Pac. Twelve left out last year. They were left out the year with Christian McCaffrey if they get blown out maybe two touchdowns or so by Auburn, like what do you make of the pack twelve chance, even if the huskies run the table and suffer an early loss. But we saw last year SEC teams. Yeah. And I think if that happens this year, if Washington loses Auburn, you can almost right the pack, twelve right out of the playoff picture because if it gets to be end of the season, the way project right now I'm looking at possibly and undefeated, Alabama and they'll probably be a double digit favorite. And every single game this year versus perhaps an undefeated Georgia, which would be favorite and every game. And if Washington's got a lost to Auburn, the third best team in the SEC that's going to wipe them right out the. Picture, we would have to see teams make the playoffs again. So that's a huge game not only for Washington, but the Pac twelve is a whole because I think nationally folks are really down on them, especially after their bowl performance last year when Utah was the only team that manager winnable game. So speaking of Utah fill, you have them as one of your selections. One hundred to one school a little bit into that. Obviously, you know, hundred to one, you're looking for looking for value, not saying it's going to happen saying it could happen, talk Mila bit about Utah. Fourteen returning starters this year when you look at them -fensive -ly last year was the first year for their new offense coordinator. Troy Taylor coming in, and Tyler Huntley was off to a great start, and then humbly got hurt, and it took them a couple of games to get back in sync and it really he didn't have the good second half of the area in the first year. Huntley's back. He's got old object huddle at the QB position. But Zach moss is a guy who want us talking to coach winning EMMY. So. The the lights which went on that midseason and we saw that moss finished with eleven hundred seventy three yards. Rushing. They've got one of the best receiving course. They've had under Wittingham the offense of line deep and salad and defensively, you know, these guys are always good Bradley and underrated defensive end chase Hanson moves down from sixty linebacker. So they are very good team. Then you look at the schedule..

"As you said, I think this is the second domino with the supreme court on may fourteenth being the first one as a huge win for sports betting. And I think it was good to see them stand down on this integrity fee nonsense. The integrity fee was couple of things that didn't suggested that the sports betting community did not have the proper channels in place to protect the integrity of the game. If they didn't pay this fee, like it already exists is above board. The integrity fee was unnecessary. So good for them to stand down. Nevada has been paying it right. They've been paying something called the federal excise tax which is point two, five percent lot different, and it's a tax just even the name of. It matters because they don't want to bend on that. It's like, no, I'm not going to agree to that because it suggests that we have. We have a shady business, so it was good for them to stand down on that front. But this was also a cash crap and a little bit of a dog and pony show because there was nothing of huge substance other than saying, we're partnering with you, it's not exclusive. It wasn't saying that they're going to get this stuff that like no one else can have. I mean, they're saying this direct data feed, which I don't think has any value. I think it's just sort of nomenclature and sort of a nice packaging. But I don't think it's going to do anything. The MGM didn't gain an advantage with its NBA odds. They're not going to say, well, we have this data feed that we think LeBron's eighth rebound wasn't really under review. Like I don't think they're gonna say the next game Cleveland, excuse me. The Lakers are now minus four instead of three and a half, like they're going to follow the market just like every other sports book. There's no competitive advantage that the MGM has other than they're gonna get some branding and sponsorship visibility. I would agree. I also think as you alluded to there again, it just seems to me, this is my opinion. There is some quid pro quo here about down the road, a NBA team in Nevada, right? You guys, why you make a deal with us for again, three years, twenty five million dollars. Darren rebel reported a lot of money for me. Not a lot of money for the NBA especially when you're giving up among all the teams, but now there's a market, right? The market exists because somebody's willing to pay for it. If I want to sell my car worth two thousand dollars and I can sell it for ten grand, then I should take that deal and the NBA wasn't gonna get anything. I don't think from the integrity fees. Now they were twenty five million dollars and other sports books who can buy the same deal. So I think that's also down the road. No, that's that's. That's sort of the underlying thing. That's what I've heard as well. I talked about it on sportscenter. That luck. It's how do I put this delicately there weren't a lot of places in Vegas aching to get WNBA team, right? The MGM did it because they want to continue the relationship they have with the NBA. They are the official sponsor of the summer league, and there are reports not even reports conversations going on about building another Rena. There's t. mobile, but they also want to build their own arena and have their own NBA team there. And if magin that, like an NBA team being owned in Las Vegas by casino. Now we know about some of the dual partnership back in the day of the hairs and the Celtics, and other than that, the rockets. But this would be a full blown like the Las Vegas aces are and twenty five million said he went back, but it is sort of just a opening the door to other people other sportsbook and gaming operators to pay more money to get on board with this and say, hey, let's all play nice. We can do a sort of. You know compromise and everybody wins, whether it be sponsorships in the arena, sponsorship advertising in the billboard, whatever the the marquee, whatever it may be. But yeah, this all science point to that and small interesting point as well. The Tillman for Tinto who owns golden nugget..

"Mobile bedding but only on premises. So if you're at the blackjack table, you can bet there. But in state geo tag, there is no bedding and as well. You can bet things important on ole miss and the in state schools and Mississippi, which in New Jersey, you cannot with wonders with Rutgers and again, obviously very different Mississippi college football than New Jersey. But an interesting distinction between those two. It's funny the on premises thing, cantor gaming used to do that when I lived in Vegas. I mean, like if you in your Roman play online blackjack, sorta like that sort of concept, maybe even three or TV. I want to say at the hard rock when CG did it there. It seems archaic now where we are now is is gambling society, but that was a big step back then that you didn't have to go down and fire on that ten AM kickoff on an NFL Sunday. You can just do it from your bed if you're in on the premises. So that's the first step. It's further along than some of these other states, right? Like Delaware, but I think they're all gonna get there because that's the competitive advantage. I mean, two thousand eighteen. You can't be driving x amount of miles and traffic to make a bet you wanna be doing it from your home and blah, blah, blah. We all know that draftkings we're going to talk to him about that. But even before that the fantasy daily fantasy world, you don't go somewhere to place those bet you do it online yet. And this week as well as if we didn't have enough news draftkings opening mobile bedding in New Jersey, they will be soon be followed a believe by MG. AM and other sportsbook operators as well who wanna get up before football season that again will be if you're within the borders of New Jersey and you have that app, you can place a bet. I think it'll be fascinating to see. You know, our people in New York, let's say, theoretically, just driving across the border, you know, parking, placing bets, same thing, Pennsylvania, obviously riding a subway content can take the subway. I think the first week in the Meadowlands will obviously be covering very heavily, but giants Jaguars you'll gonna have the fan duel sportsbook there a lot to figure out. But again, just a big Newsweek and probably the biggest headline this week. All things considered was the NBA's announcement with the MGM. We're gonna talk to him about it. He did an article with our Darren Revell about this and just the magnitude is and I talked about it on sportscenter. My initial reaction is this is just a win for sports betting. The supreme court was the first giant step. But they're still a stigma. They're still the degenerate back room, sort of uneducated perception that having the Commissioner of the NBA get up there and partner with the MGM a league that had a betting scandal with a referee. Not that long ago, ten years ago, ish to do that and say, we are partnering, we have a sponsorship. We are saying that sports betting is above board. There's nothing funny about this and we have a partnership with them and we're happy to do it. I think that's the big sort of victory. I would agree. I think that it was a excellent photo op regardless. And I do think it was not surprising to see the NBA be the first league, especially with Adam silver's op Ed in two thousand fourteen New York Times. He was kind of the first one publicly to again, he wanted a federal solution, not what we have right now, which is state by state, but to openly discuss sports betting. To discuss it intelligently and the the. That were there and just say, look, we recognize we had this Tim Donaghy scandal. We think it would not have come to light or been minimized greatly if it was out in the open with these monitoring services, which we didn't have as much then. And this is the way we basically want to have it go. We want to work with casinos and I think they've done that. And this was another big step..
"phil steele" Discussed on Behind the Bets
"The bat. Busy week in the world of sports betting. I am back from vacation than FOX in the house as well. I'm Doug kazarian this the behind the best podcast. We're taping this on Thursday, August second, Benjamin, how are you? Man? I'm good. Sarah. I don't think we fully put out that parasol picture yet, but that may have to be re tweeted brought up some. We'll bring that back somehow, but it was good house vacation. Yeah, it was great. Italy is awesome. I been there when last went there a decade ago. It was good to get back and run around the the country. But yeah, the parasol picture was enjoy, hey, look, it's ninety. Two degrees got even hotter. I, I have no shame do what you gotta do. I mean, come on and I wasn't enrollment time, but went in Roman Italy. You gotta. Do you gotta do well, don't worry. Didn't miss anything on the sports panic friend was around y'all. Braille quiet kosh so much going on. Lots of get through here. David is going to join us on the back end of the podcast break down some of the big announcements. From this week and also Phil Steele's coming up momentarily with some good college football analysis and picks because here we are in August, the regular season is upon us NFL just around the corner as well. A lot of good a lot of good opportunities out there, whether it be futures for the championship conference even games of the year. And there's some week one lines that I even like as well Benso. We'll touch on all that. Both talk about the news at first today, which is Thursday. Tiger Phil announce Cording to ESPN's Mike Greenberg, some odds being posted, and we've talked about it briefly on the pod, but there's mixed feelings on how big of a handle this will generate. Yeah. West gate opened per Jeff Sherman. Tiger minus one thirty. Phil plus one. Ten. I'm sure expecting that. There will be a ton of tiger money. Think Caesar's opened at a pick them a couple of weeks ago. You know, being out there, I guess that was for summer league and talk some people. They don't think there's going to be very much. I know some people are going to far and being like it's. Xd where the McGregor it's like, no, it's it's not gonna be that. I think they'll be a lot of interest in this is reported over thanksgiving weekend. I think that will probably heard it some because obviously of NFL of college football NBA. That was a big advantage of may worthy McGregor is it was before college football before NFL. It was that weekend. That was the big of that and what's the format? We don't really know yet. It's going to be in Las Vegas shadow creek I league. I don't know whether it's just a against b, whether they are doing some sort of Yemen Gulf handle a lot is, I mean, it's more on the futures market than is the matchups. But this is tiger and Phil and its motto. It's like magic bird in the eighties, we all wanted right. But this is I think it'll be more than what the low end is and lower than the high in fat is in fact, may whether McGregor it's not gonna be. I think the very interesting thing from following this. I don't think I moved on Sunday for the British Open, just watching. And then following the odds, I think the in game odds will be fascinating. I don't know how many people are gonna wanna bet hole by hole tiger. And Phil or stroke by stroke. But I think that's where some of it will come from as well. I think people are going to want to have action. It's gone event involved in parlays and things like that because it's a big weekend with football college. Football's while a lot of rivalries that weekend, and then the NFL takes over few days as well. So good stuff. There also Mississippi is official. They've joined the party of legal sports betting and right before football season. It'll be very interesting to see the variance in some lines at something we're gonna talk a lot about once the season begins and look, man, it's not common..

"Paul finebaum show. We're probably game for we go back phones. I five to four to seven to eight five. I have the Phil Steele college football preview and for people who don't know at AM every team in here and it's got this. This preview has more information in it than any person could want about anything. I don't understand how he's able to write that. There's so much in there. I think he just honestly, he just takes the same book as last year and nobody would know the difference. 'cause nobody's reading him, but Nevertheless I buy. It and it helps me when I'm doing things such as this. So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to just randomly fit flip and stop on a page and it's going to be a program and your job is going to be the tell me whatever, you know about this football program we are going to play. They're located in Murfreesboro Tennessee. They are gay covered the spreading his lane kiffin last year because I'll watch the game. You knew they covered the great year last year. Let me ask you a question. Can you name any player currently on the team. No. Okay. Can you name any player that has ever played for middle Tennessee State football? I mean, yeah. Can there's just so many. I don't know where to start. Can you name one quarterback, Matt Wilson, three years ago. Dan. Can you name any player that's ever played at middle Tennessee State? No, I can't either can't either. All right. So would you like I'm gonna use Phil Steele. I'm gonna give you some middle, Tennessee State facts, please. The coach's name is Rick stock still. Okay. And his son is the quarterback Brent stock still, so he didn't pull the brand name him, Rick stock still junior. He didn't want put that pressure. So Brit stock still is the quarterback this year. And guess what? What he is the all time leading passer in middle Tennessee State history already with another year to go with another year to go and is ranked by Phil Steele as the. Forty. Seventh best prospect for the NFL draft quarterback. That's still a long way to do. We think there's any chance dad is just calling plays to get his son in the record books. I think that's probably right. They vandy we'll, you know, you have heard of the greatest middle Tennessee State football player of all time. All right. Who is Kelly Holcomb? Oh, Kelly, Holcomb played there. He was with the Browns for a long he was saying was with the Browns Rafter Tim couch, I believe that's correct. Current Tennessee titan Kevin buyer also blade in Middleton most Kevin buyer. All right. So now it's Jimmy still on the phone. Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy d, you know, any middle Tennessee State facts. Well, works stock still. I done a great job there. I know that you know solidified the program and that sort of thing is I think his his son has moved. I don't know if he's back for senior year or not, but he was at least three years starter for them. I told you we had the rank caller for this game by the way he is. He is back. He's back this year, right? And you know they got okay in conference USA I think actually went to a bowl game. He did by the way they did. They played Florida. Atlantic is drew sent. Here's a little factor, Frank for you, middle Tennessee, State quarterback Brits, Knoxville holds the f. b. s. record for most completions by freshman and guess who he passed..
