"He's just been high level, extremely adept at any form of poker that he's taken on. And I think that's very compelling. I think that's when you build somebody up is the greatest of all time. You know, I ran tournament a few years ago called the hashtag poker goat and Phil Ivey won. Far and away, nobody even came close to beating him in the votes as to who is a better player. And I think that if I were to run it again today, that would be the case. And if I ran it again in 5 years, that's probably going to be the case still. I would agree with that. I would bet that would be the outcome. So to summarize, you'd think part of it is what these figures feel ivy and Doyle brownson in particular represent. I think it's lucky. It's right place right time. Right place the right time, but also the results, right? Because again, we'll feel that those two exponentially, they work together and they exponentially increase each other. Doyle, right place right time, he was in Vegas, playing Texas hold 'em, wrote a book on Texas hold 'em that would one day explode. His name was in rounders. In the same way that Phil Helmut was his name was in rounders and Johnny Chan was in rounders. I think Johnny Chan, his name being in rounders actually built up kind of the myth of Johnny Chan probably a lot bigger than it deserved for a number of years in the poker community, but he won a key hand against Eric Seidel at the WSOP, one a world championship, and then wanted to get the next year. And then it was publicized. And it was talked about in a movie, and now it is the thing of legend. And I mean, yeah, right place, right time. And now we have to convince our students that no, there is no consistency in the main event people don't expect the same people to win the tournament at all. Right. But there was also not as many people in it back then back then as well. And I'm sure Johnny had an edge. Yeah, it's super, super fortunate, it's super lucky to go back to back.

"Place at hustler casino live featuring Phil Helmut Tom duan, MrBeast, and a bunch of other streamers. You all said you wanted me to review a bunch of these hands, so I figured I would. Hope y'all having a very, very good Monday morning. All right, let's get right to it. I want to make it clear I have not watched a single one of these hands. So we're flying blind. I don't know what we're going to see. Let's get to it. I have my best hand of the night. You had me sold, but if I had enough I believe we have a straddle, we have a straddled $15,000. That's my guess. I've stacked you in shape. I think it's a reason to three. You're like fuck it. Let me know, man. Don't let me down. Let you know. What do you mean? I got these words. Well, thank you. Yeah. How much more do you have? I don't know how I can fold this. If the audio is too loud, too quiet, whatever, let me know. I don't know exactly the scenario. If you raise and get three bet, and you have pocket jacks and the guy has 33,000 behind after putting in 15, meaning he had a 45 to begin with, just put him in. Just put him in easy all in. He's on your head to double disguise. There we go. The pros can't be just there. No, he can't read your brain or your head. By the way, depending on the initial race size, I think the 7 should probably just rip it all in. Okay? By the way, I watched one or two of the hands from the stream. I'm not gonna be covering those today because I made YouTube videos out of them. Some of you seem to think that this game is abnormal, but it's actually, it's just like a wild game, right? I've played plenty of wild games like this. These are like the good games where people just don't care about money all that much. Not much surprises me, I guess, because I've seen basically everything, and maybe that's good, maybe that's bad. We'll see. We'll see if we're actually surprised by anything. I mean, I would be surprised if Phil folds this, this swimming is just like a raise in a three bed. That'd be ridiculous, right? It'd be surprised at that. I'd be surprised if the 7 puts in a third of their money and then fold, I'd be surprised at that. But like, again, that would just be bad play. I've seen plenty of bad plays, right? Let's see. 30. Come where I'll throw them off. Case 9 8 9 8 9. Can you see? Poker is not a team sport. The ghost of ace 9. Knows how to get his TV time, you know? Yeah, that was dope. These have been nervous. All right, I'm all. All you can eat. You got 7. Yeah, that's right. Well, it puts us in 6s. I couldn't. It's no shot. I think this is the way to go out. Is the way to go out? What do you know? Just one man. That's all I got. I like one bad beat. Hold up, I need these. Look, keep on, I think there's a chance you're ninja. I think there's a chance for him. Can ninja hit the 7? 7, so. Oh no. Unless. That's pretty good flop. A ten. I'll talk about I'll suck a dick for a ten. Keep looking at me whenever I make those kind of remarks. Magic, if you want a good night. Well, who's getting their pants down, I guess? All right, let's see. If I were now and I love you too. That's fine, yeah. If you guys want me to figure it out at the end. I think it's easy to remember. It's 3000. Also, I just realized I just basically said we have a race to 400, a call from Tom duan with the 7 two offsuit or whatever. Maybe they're playing 7 two game. Bill here opts to three bat sure. Looks like he's going kind of big and loose flashy battling games I definitely think this is perfectly fine. Screw you, take all the work. Yeah, it's okay. Maybe get his attention. Do you want to write it down? Let's come get it. Three more times. When you're playing very, very deep stack. You do want to use bigger three bat sizes, right? And so I like, I like the three bets at 3000 because presumably when people raise under the gun, they're not folding. Like 5s is just going to call here and see the flop and try to spike, right? So they are playing the 7 two game. I am certainly not well versed at playing 7 two game I probably only played it a hundred times or so. And I'm sure Tom duan is going to play the 7 two better than most people on this spot because I'm sure he's played this game 10,000 times. And a lot of people just think you're supposed to three better to blast it like you at aces, but we see Tom just calling, right? Call trying to play post flop and win a small pop of it. Fucking dude. Can you just bring a pen and paper? Protests play the sand and then write it down. Play this hand and then write it down. Okay. I raised the 30. Holy shit. Mister spot girl has been waiting for. So all right, let's see how deep we are. She's basically putting in. I think we're playing, what are we playing? It's like raised to 400. Unless we playing 102 hundred, does that sound right? She's basically just like putting fell all in here for 400 big blinds. I would generally recommend against that. I think this is just a call, call the tens, try to flop well, 'cause you gotta realize Phil's not insane. He's not ridiculous. Right? So this is a spot where when it goes under the gun race, second position call, fill in third position with three bad. He's gonna have something good. And what is something good look like? Something good is gonna be aces kings queens jacks, ice king, tens, 9s, 8s, maybe, but he's not gonna put a stack in with ten signs and 8s. Maybe not even like a queen if he has it. So he's gonna fold out all this garbage. He's only gonna get in with his best hands as best hands are ASUS king's queens and ace king. And against that, you're in pretty bad shape with the tens. And you gotta realize the problem here is that if you make it 30, then he can just get out of the way. You can get out away with all the garbage easily. If you made it more something like 8, then you will get called by a lot of the weaker hands and you'll extract value. Again, I want to make it clear I don't know any of these players besides villain Tom and Allen. So I'm not trying to be mean to any of them. I'm just purely observing these hands, giving my opinions on way people ways people would play better. I think all these dreamers did a very, very good job getting out of their comfort zones playing in a big game to create content for all of you so we should all be very, very thankful to this exist..

"Just to flush out this argument and the vision. I have a couple of questions, which is basically one of them is essentially, is it entertaining and the one way I would rephrase it is are the current personalities. For example, we're talking about poker goal, the people who play poker stakes are those people marketable. Like even if there was money behind them or is potentially because again, I thought that comes to my mind. People like, for example, feel helmuth, they do have casinos behind them. I mean, Phil helm of whatever he goes, he has the aria shirt. That's one question. And another question based on another point that you made earlier is you mentioned the language, the new language, it would be helpful to have a proper language without dumbing it down too much, making sure that people can actually follow the strategy. And where do you think professionals like antonius find the iron ESPN and Nick schulman could improve in that in that space? Yeah. To answer your first question, are they marketable? We don't know, but I promise you if you give them enough money, anybody can become marketable. You give them training. You do it. This is a big corporation problem to solve. And unfortunately, I think that's where the argument dies. Because we just don't have big corporations in this industry outside of operators and operators have no interest whatsoever in working with players. The fact that Phil Helmut is more has marketing mechanism behind him is sort of at least proof that he is marketable, which is not something I would have assumed. Just like watching him, right? He is. You wouldn't? I don't know, just like watching him. Like if he was, okay, so if I were in a random casino and there was this guy acting like Phil hellmuth acts, like in a random game that's not being televised, my intuition would be like, no, I don't think that guy's very likeable or Marco..

"So that was what the audience was mostly constructed of. And then, of course, if you're a Daniel Negroni or Phil Helmut, or Bernard Lee, you can just be like, hey, I want to go and be like, okay, here's the ticket. Here's a seat. There you go. Right. So let's talk a little bit about the events of the third annual global. It used to be the American poker rewards and there used to be a European, but now they've decided to put this together, which I think is a good idea. In a lot of respects. You know, there are a lot of different awards. Some awards were not kind of brought into play. Maybe it's something like the mid major tour, et cetera. But I think primarily that was maybe the COVID scenario what they're really worth that many events. But a lot of events or a lot of categories were there. There were some repeat winners, which is always interesting, but and we say repeat not unfortunately back to back years, but more of the last two because of course, there was not one held in 2021. But Jamie kirsty, who was awarded best Twitter personality for the second time in a row, other repeat winners were aria's appall Campbell for best tournament director and Brad Owen awarded for best vlogger. I would say with regards to the vlogging category, this is kind of the first time that there were actually some competition. And I say this because I think Brad has really dominated him and Andrew Demi have really dominated over the years. And you know, it's very interesting. In 2019 and 2020, I would venture to say that the world of poker, the category of vlogging was kind of like, what? Let's be honest, even the people who are voting for it, there was a lot of controversy initially that the person, the people who were the vloggers that it didn't even really make a lot of sense, who they were voting for. And so I think that they've done a great job. I will say a little disappointing a Andrew neme, but also on top of the Daniel mcgrane. I think that a lot of people watch Daniel O'Connor's vlog. Not only the World Series side of it, but his strategy side of it. So I will say a little bit of a snub there, which is a little unusual to be honest. Someone who's such a huge name in the industry and not to get it. But I will say Brad has gotten a tremendous following really great following over a 100,000 subscribers and that's kind of what that little plaque that they always talk about on YouTube..

"Listening to the best poker cast on the planet. I'm Chris cosenza. And I'm Scott long. What's up? Well, I love this first item this week. Because Phil helm use temper tantrums are so legendary that other players rants are compared to his. It's almost like it's like the what's the scale of earthquakes? Oh yeah, the Geiger scale. Yeah, yeah, there we go. This is a 7 on the Phil homies to protect from scale. Vlogs, that's exactly what happened this week. So a Japanese player went on a major tilt. Actually, I came calling players. I mean, I'm sure he was in the tournament. But during a recent live stream with the final table of the Japan gold dragon. A man who is not a current player is seen walking up to the table, picking it up. And when he failed to flip it over, weakling. Let it crash to the ground, scattering poker chips in cans of Red Bull everywhere. The man who has not been identified, we turn quickly to share words with staff who are trying to clean up the mess. No details on what the man's beef was or what happened to him, but Twitter user a great Scott TX. That's not me 'cause I'm in Florida. He won the Internet by tweeting quote, Phil Helmut would only get a one orbit penalty for this. Oh man. Did you watch this thing? No. I didn't watch it. But this one, I couldn't couldn't stop. I had to watch it. It was a train wreck that ran into another train that ran to a bus that hit a plane. That's how awesome it was. People always underestimate either how heavy these tables are or that they're anchored to the floor or whatever. And I mean, you've seen him. You've seen videos on being tipped over like when the lights go out in Vegas or something and people cash grab and stuff like that. But yeah, people always struggle. They don't realize just how heavy these tables are..

"In this episode of weekly poker hand. We're going to be taking a look at a tough spot that Tom duan face recently in high stakes duel against Phil, helmuth. Heads up master where on the river, Tom tracks and Phil helmuth makes a half pot river bat into a very, very big pot and Tom just has a bluff catcher. Always a tough spot. Let's break this hand down right from the beginning. Phil helmuth limps. From the button. Very, very standard, Tom duan raises it up with the pocket tens as he certainly should do a lot of his best hands. Phil Helmut then limp re raises gigantic. Well, what in the world do you do the tens here? Notice that we are playing pretty deep stacked about a hundred and so big blinds. And the tough thing about playing against Phil helmuth is that he will do this with aces and kings. And I'll also do this with total nonsense like the 7 two offsuit sporadically. Maybe not 72 offsuit. Maybe something like 7 two suited. If you watched the high stakes dual matches featuring fell home on poker go, you will have noticed that he goes for a lot of relatively aggressive creative plays with some really bad hands. Which, you know, to some extent, actually isn't all that bad of a strategy. Usually you want to be quite aggressive with your absolute best hands, but also with some junky hands because that makes it to where your opponent has no clue that you have the nuts or nothing. And it keeps them guessing. I think, though, exploitatively, Phillip does this with more bluffs than he should. So, what should Tom do with the Thames? If he rips it all in with the tens or he raises to any amount, he's gonna have to play for all his money, but he's always gonna get stacked against aces and kings and queens. Whenever Phil has it. And if he does have ace king, obviously, the roughly flipping, it's not like it's some gigantic success..

"But as I thought about it more, you know, after what we were in COVID for a year and a half and I was just bored. So I was like, cool, you know, this is an opportunity for me to wake up and have something to do. So since August I've been working on the staking platform and it's something that I love and it's a project that I could see myself doing on my own dime and you know me getting the opportunity for somebody else to put up all the money and finance the project I've loved every minute of it. I love getting up and talking about gambling and you know and trying to figure out the best way to learning the business side of poker has been rewarding and I love it and I still remember after I won my second bracelet, the owner of the company, he didn't tell me congrats. He didn't say, wow, that's awesome. He, the first thing he said to me was, please don't quit. That was really rewarding in itself. Because I love my job. We have a, it's a staking platform where pro players post package tournament packages and our members can invest as little as 5 bucks in certain players. We've had, we had Daniel nagra, stop it. Sorry. We had we had Daniel posted almost every event. He also posted a full series package. We have Phil Helmut. We had Eric Seidel, David Williams, Matt glance, me, Galen hall, Jonathan little. I mean, we had some real good talent on our site. So it's like, at any given time, you could go on to pocket 5s and see a world class player selling percentages of himself at either no markup or very little markup. Like I think that in my first bracelet that I won, I sold 10% of it at no markup, so I had ten people invest $15 and turned it into 2000. Yeah, Eric Seidel posted two packages. He made the final table on both of them. Daniel posted numerous caches, so yeah, a project that we are constantly improving. Because we want to make it just more the more the more fun the customer has the more the better off we're going to do. And it's a great tool for players to engage with their fan base. Because it's just, I overly use this, the NFL analogy. An NFL game with no action is boring. But you put $10 on a game and it's exciting. And that converts over to poker really really well because a guy he might check the updates here and there once a day to see how his favorite player is doing. But have that same guy invest $10 in the tournament. He's going to be thinking refresh on Pokémon. Every freaking 30 minutes to see where that guy is. And there's like literally poker runs are exciting. No matter who it is, if you know somebody making a run, it's exciting..

"The planet. I'm Chris consensus. And I'm Scott walk Happy Thanksgiving. Gobble gobble. Gobble gobble, how's it going? Turkey day. You know, I always start off this day by rewatching clips of the plane strains and automobiles and that's my favorite one is the rental car. Scene where? The Ferris Bueller secretary. Never saw it. Spoiler alert, please. You've never seen plain streets in that movie? I've seen excerpts of it, you know, like you have you're talking about what you do. Like what you do every Thanksgiving is what I do. You know, what I've seen over my lifetime, I've never actually watched the movie. Comprehend this information. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I saw your little Facebook post about it today, and I thought, yep. I can't really don't know what he's talking about. Trump is me, you're gonna do this, 'cause you come to all this stuff, wait, wait, like making a murderer? Yeah, yeah. That's probably been framed for step in other murders by the time the rest of us have watched. You need to make some time today. I promise you you're going to love it. All right. I'll figure out, you know, I just finished watching the staircase, which is very similar to the making a murderer and another brutal corrupt system that screwed people. But yeah, all right, I'll try to give it a shot. But only three promise to watch. You promise to watch Star Wars. Yeah, okay. The baby owner one I haven't seen that. Yeah, the baby Yoda, The Mandalorian. Watch that one. 'cause I can always subscribe to 18 different streaming services now. Not all get rid of cable things and create idea of folks. Yeah, exactly. 20 times more of her TV now and I have no idea what channel anything's on. Exactly. And you never end up watching TV end up just like looking on your phone because you don't you're too lazy to turn on and try to scroll through the menu to find something alive. I actually watched less TV now because it's so frustrated, Googling, where can I watch a man? Exactly. Exactly. Forget it. I'm just gonna like, you know, read the newspaper. Exactly. All right, let's do poker now. All right, this year's World Series of poker has come to an end and here are our final updates, spinning glazer one event 78 to ten K rats championship for a sports career bracelet. Previously in the series, he had a second third and 9th place finishes. They'll help you made a 6th final table the series, and I can't believe you didn't notice I did. You did it everywhere and I just said screw it. He's doing it to piss me off or he's really stupid. So either way, you know, I don't know, but you're really itchy L button on my laptop is what it is. Constantly putting extra L's where they don't belong. It's like Easter egg hunt for you. Anyway, I feel help me with one out. Actually. One L and Phil, too and help me. You made a 6 final table of the series. Adrian Mateo is one of an 82, the 250 K high roller for his fourth career bracelet in the highest buy in event of the series. Leo Omar gets when event 83 to $1500 closer to become the only woman to win an open event this series. Jeremy Osman is one of N 84 to 50 K PO high roller defeating Phil Helmut one L and NFL. Heads up, helping me set the record for the most final tables in a series with 7 Daniel mcgrady who finished third. Josh aria was 7th, the grand I would go on to finish third in the very next event while aria had a tenth place finish two events later. And Josh Ari is this year's player of the year at 11 cache is two bracelets in two other final tables with 4194.59 points helping me to finish second with 3720.01 points and ten cash is one bracelet. 6 other final tables, while doing your grano, who hasn't won a bracelet since 2013, boy, I would have lost that, but rallied to finish third with 3531.03 points with 18 cashes and three final tables. The World Series of poker started a new series of NFT options, which we don't care about at all. Nope. But if you do, it features famous clips from the series over the years. And finally, well known when Las Vegas tax expert Russ Fox had published his estimates of the tax burden for this year's main event final table. New world champion Cory, elder, a German who lives in Austria, very smartly for tax purposes and two British final table participants won't owe a single penny in taxes based on U.S. tax treaties with those two nations and the fact that neither of those countries not companies. Countries, tax gambling, winnings, the other players who have in the United States Turkey and Argentina will see a good chunk of their winnings going to various governments with high park lives in New Jersey's likely to pay the highest percentage of his winnings. Okay, where to start? The only NFT I'd be interested in is he called me with Jack high. I think that's the one I would get a little bit more for that. Yeah, that's the one I might buy. And maybe the Chris moneymaker, not knowing it's his turn to act and the whole world's looking at him and they all thought that he had a serious decision to make and he's getting ready to fold. Those two, I might consider, you know, put some Cheddar down on, but other than that, yeah, I have no interest in NFTs right now. I tell you Rea. What a remarkable year. I mean, he comes out of nowhere again. Obviously, he's been a player the whole time and all that, but I mean, just to have this massive year. And every time helmets tried to one up, I'm gonna get it back or whatever our AB right there with him finishing right near him or whatever. It was a pretty remarkable year for him. Congratulations, really phenomenal. Yeah, he was definitely a fly in his soup this whole series, right? Thought he was going to catch up and then you follow that over there. Hey, hey, he's had another final table. Well, guess what? Josh Ari just missed the final labels. I don't do much. So yeah, somebody called him an unlikely player of the year. I don't know if that seems like a stretch to me. Obviously, I think some of these other names, people probably would have thought a bit more. But I don't necessarily think it's an unlikely, but one of these great pros gets a good streak and the initial we had three of them. I mean, three of the most fantastic players will oversee finished one two and three and they all had great series. Solidifying our player of the year, you know, professional player going to do well in this World Series stuff. I mean, they really did just rise to the occasion. The other stuff on top of LEGO markets, that's fantastic. You know, a woman winning, it's always always great when that can happen because then it just opens up the field to more women saying, hey, I think I can do this too and getting them out there to play and that's a great thing. Some of these other names I didn't really recognize, but they had multiple bracelets. Again, this week, everybody who want to bracelet seem to have wondered fourth bracelet. It's crazy. And I haven't heard telling you squawking about the player of the year. Here at the end, I'm sure he probably was somewhere. But it's interesting because he talked about when he had his first meltdown over here and it should reward final tables over anything else. So we've got to look at now we kind of know some of the stats, right? So aria made four final tables, he made 7, but aria had two bracelets he only had one, so I don't know. I mean, 11 cashes and ten companies had ten. So, you know, I think between those two, I think we're really splitting hairs now. Would have been interesting if Negro would have cast a couple more times 18 cashes had more than almost as much of those two guys combined. Had he had a couple more cashes and actually been the player of the year and I'm not looking for a appointment to the college football playoff selection committee here by saying it, but I would have a hard time stop eating a player of the year that didn't win a bracelet. Yeah. Yeah, that's true. I mean, still 18 cash is pretty phenomenal. But that's remarkable. Remarkable. I think you meant new granular..

"Because it's actually it's beautiful. This is what you want. You want a little bit of emotion. You want some engagement. And yes, I agree kind of comes off as unfair in a way. But we learned that spot. He's a special guy. He's a really special guy. And this guy's in every sport who get away with shit like that. Tyson got away with a lot of crazy stuff. And so many different athletes got away with a lot of stuff that other people and I mean McGregor got away with a lawsuit and potential jail time when he threw a trolley in a bus and almost killed some people. As always, happily to get away with things, if they pull in the numbers. Yeah, the one thing that I guess I will say for helmet is I've never seen him make someone cry. Like I've never seen him just terribly upset one of the people that he's playing against or is somebody that's on the receiving end of his tirade. Nobody's ever been like, hey, this makes me feel really bad about myself as a human being. It's like it's almost this badge of honor getting yelled at by Phil Helmut, right? Like everybody's just kind of everybody's laughing, right? Even like, you know, who, you know, he tweeted about the situation like only Phil hellmuth can get everybody to care about a 7 card ten K 7 card stud event, you know? He was on the receiving end of the tirade and he didn't mind at all. So I think there is that level of tact and I think that over the course of helmuth's poker career, yeah, like you said, circumstances, the circumstances matter, and yeah, to my knowledge, I don't know if anybody feeling bad. I mean, I guess somebody could send me an email about somebody just being emotionally distraught over being on the receiving end of a helmet tirade. But yeah, I mean, there are some definitely some. Special circumstances for him specifically. Some special treatment that he gets. And in my opinion, he deserved it. He deserved that spot and he's really I believe he's the last guy we've got. But, you know, at least one of the last guys we have that is keeping this game super relevant outside of the community because a lot of poker players have their heads in the community too much. The vast majority of the world does not care about our game. And that's a reality. It's been better days, right? We've had better days. But now if you look at it, a big chunk of the world just doesn't really care that much. You don't have the big headlines anymore at the news and pokers not being on TV here in Holland for ages. It's been a time where it was on prime time every single night, right? So it's definitely taken a couple of hits with Black Friday and all the crazy legislations. And now even poker stars got kicked out of Harlem. You know, so there's so many things going on now in the poker world that if we have a guy who can, you know, put us on the top of the headlines from time to time put us make us go viral on Facebook from time to time and thank you. Thank you. Thank you. So I know Matt savage listens to this show. And I think, you know, he's in charge of the tournament directors association. And they've the wso P has had missteps over the years. You know, there's the infamous F bomb rule where people were penalized for using the F bomb at the wso P and it was enforced kind of arbitrarily by the dealers and whoever they just don't like. They're going to enforce it against. I think poker needs more gamesmanship. I've always thought that like outlawing a player from turning over a card in a poker tournament to gauge or react. I mean, this is like gamesmanship. This is entertainment. This is emotional and captivating to the audience. And yeah, like it can create an edge for experienced players over less experienced players. However, I think that we need to weigh that in consideration to the larger picture of will it help poker's growth? Will it make it more entertaining? And that's something that really should be thought about. I've always found that aspect of poker just captivating of like, you've got a big decision to make on the river. You turn your hand face up and look at your opponent and try to get a reaction when they realize what it is they're trying to make you fold. That's entertaining to me personally. I am totally biased because I am a pro and I've played lots of live poker and there is an edge to be gained here. However, I think that overall it's good for the game. We need to think about more things like that that just make the game more compelling than, you know, like you said, the people who are coming from full, optimized state that have very minimal reaction one way or the other. Yeah. And actually rarely, that's not that's not that optimized. That's really, that's the opposite of optimized. What they're trying on what they're attempting is actually having an opposite effect. It's making the environment less entertaining and less fun for themselves and for the bad recreational players. So it's a lose lose situation because you're having less enjoyment from what is supposed to be your job and the players against you are also not enjoying it as much. So you're just bleeding this cow dry instead of being able to benefit from this cow from 50 more years you're just killing it in the near earth and make the environment fun is a win win for everybody for yourself. You would like to enjoy your job, I guess. And for other people as well. And then these lifetime bans are pretty crazy as well, right? I mean, look at what you have to do in other sports to get banned lifetime. That is you gotta do a lot. You gotta do a lot. You gotta kill somebody. I think, right? You can like be the person up on the field. Like you can actually beat them up and you'd get maybe a year or something. Maybe two whatever. But these lifetime bans are also quite intense. And who's been banned lifetime? Yeah, there's a couple of guys who've been banned lifetime from casinos where the WSP is. Really. And I don't know the details of what they exactly did. But as you feel like that helps with people staying in check and, you know, not going out of line in any way. I feel like that intensity is in a casino environment, right? You kind of felt a little you don't feel that freedom as you would have on a sports field or a different performance field where you are there to perform. And whatever happens emotionally happens. Of course, there's a referee that somebody keeping things in check. But in a way, because poker is played in the casino environment with casino rules. I think that's a tricky part of it. That you still at the end of the day have to apply to casino rules. And there's other guests and people as well there. It's not a soccer field. You can't just, you know, you tackle somebody or punch him in the face..

"Welcome to the Bernard Lee poker show here on November 9th. The World Series main event is underway will get you all of that news as it continues to progress during the week. But as the World Series began, we gave you the news and it was an unbelievable run by Phil Helmut, multiple final tables, including his 16th WSO P bracelet that is 6 more than anyone else, Johnny Chen, Doyle Brunson and Phil Ivey all have ten. But when we return, we will talk with the poker Brad himself talking about this incredible run and his 16th.

"And our good friend Phil Helmut unleashed his second major rant of the series this time on Twitter, some of the poker news one minute contest. Criticizing the player of the year scoring that he says gives too much credence to caching and events instead of making final tables as he does. Of course, it's the only reason why he'd argue for us because it only helps him. What I like most about what you just read is I go through and edit it for you and yet you still put in all the words that don't need to be there. That's my favorite thing. It's like he's put in words that aren't even there because I took him out, but he just memorizes how he writes these things. One thing I want to say is I found this interesting. Last week, on the show, we were talking about if anyone would catch Phil hellmuth, you know, and all that. And when Sean D one, I don't even think he was asked this question, but he might have been, but the quote that was with the release was totally. I'm gonna catch him. I'm gonna catch him easily. Do you see how many times I'm winning and all these things? It would paraphrasing, but I mean, he basically was saying that he's gonna be the one that catches Phil helmet, even though it's like right on cue when we ask that question last week, hearing his answer in it for us. Maybe still listen to the show just to keep tabs on his running tab. So I had the big running he'd owe me like 8 grand right now. Serious. But, you know, yeah, so to his point, though, I mean, he's young enough and he's playing at such a high caliber right now. I mean, it's possible..

"Welcome back to the Bernard Lee poker show. We are very fortunate to have this gentleman on he set a record that, you know, honestly, not really sure if it'll ever be attained again. He won the same event at the World Series back to back to back three consecutive times. Now, there's not three consecutive years just because of COVID, not his fault, but 2018, 2019 and 2000 21. And this isn't just any event, folks. This is the $10,000 dealers choice championship. This year was a star studded field with 93 entrance in 2019, had a 122, 2018 had a 111 this year. He took down the event heads up with Phil Helmut who was going for his 17th bracelet after winning his second his 16th just a few days earlier, but Adam Friedman took it down for almost a quarter $1 million. Welcome to the show, Adam Friedman. Adam, thanks for joining us here on the bernardi poker show, my friend. Thank you for having me. It is, I mean, really an incredible story for what you have done, is your fourth bracelet overall. You want a 7 card stud high low event previously in 2012, but now you take these three bracelets down, did you know that this was potentially history here if you were able to take this down for the third year in a row? I mean, I knew after I won the repeat in 2019, I knew that I guess I found out, I guess the repeat had only been done 7 8 or 9 times total. So and I knew Johnny Chan had been the closest person to do the three 87 88 89 for the main event. And obviously we know who won 1989 because he reminds us of it. Well, every day. But I mean, I know the history of it. I mean, but yeah, no one had ever been able to do that. It was a goal I'd set out to hopefully try to attain. I mean, I know how unlikely just the least tournaments. Even if you are one of the better players in the tournament, it's you still need so many things to go your way. You need the cards to run well on the right spots. You've got to win a certain kind of coin flip ish type hands in the limit games. When they come up, you need to get a few of your free roll hands over. And just when I need to the cards went my way for the third consecutive time..

"He's ever had two World Series of poker. Clearly, that must be the case. Clearly one of the best two week stretches, any players ever had at the World Series of poker and we're only halfway done, as you said. So he could still get number 17. Could still get number 18. I'm sure there's another at least a final table or two in store for him. You never know he's clearly on his game right now and I think Phil Helmut has been the big story of the 2021 WSP thus far. Yeah, let's talk about a couple other stories. One, almost one 17, but was denied by a gentleman who has now for bracelets himself. And the great story is he has won this title and that was the ten K dealer's choice. He has won that title three times in a row. Normally would say three years in a row, but there was no 2020. But the last three times it has been held. 18 19 21, this gentleman, Adam Friedman has won this ten K that's incredible. I mean, it really is. And we're not just talking a random event. This is a championship ten K event with some of the best dealer best mixed game players in the world and this gentleman is one of three times in a row. That's incredible. I don't know what to say. I think it's just amazing. It's one of the greatest accomplishments in World Series of poker. I agree. I talked about it on the Pope in his podcast extensively. And I wasn't willing to say it's the greatest accomplishment, but it's definitely up there in a top 5 moment. You know, Johnny Chan winning back to back main events and then finishing runner up to hell news in 89. That's huge. Michael mizrahi winning the 50 cap poker player championship three times. Another great thing. This accomplishment by Adam Friedman is right up there with all of that in my opinion. It really Adams a great player already. He's multiple bracelets as you said. A great mixed gains cash game player, he's well respected in that community. He's won a couple of MSP T titles. So his no limit mid stakes game is spot on as well. There's a lot to like about it and I think just winning this was really cementing his legacy and look, I don't know how old Adam is. He's right around my age, so 38, 39, maybe 40, but here's a guy who needs to get his hat in the ring as far as poke Hall of Fame nominations in my opinion in the years to come. Others that we'll talk about, I'm sure here too, Anthony Zeno. He's hundreds now. Josh arie, who just shipped another bracelet. A lot of guys this year are bolstering their poker resumes, if you will, now that they're hitting around that 40 Mark, 40 years old mark that they'll become poker Hall of Fame eligible. And I think in coming years, we'll see their name grace that nomination list. I mean, a couple other players who have quietly done very well at this World Series, probably overshadowed by Anthony Zeno and Phil helmet. Jake Schwartz, who has made multiple final tables himself, fit losing out to Phil Helmut. And then Ryan Lang winning his third bracelet..

"Welcome to the Bernard Lee poker show here on October 26th. I have returned back from the World Series of poker at the Rio all suite hotel and casino. And I'll share my thoughts with you during the second half of this show because we will have on poker news is executive editor of the U.S. Chad Holloway a freaking guest of our show as he and I both share our impressions. Chad has been out there the entire time and the World Series is about incredibly halfway over. He gives us his thoughts and impressions so far to date and I share some of mine as well. In addition to that, we will have on a bracelet winner from 2020. Why do you want his first bracelet in the inaugural flipping go tournament? We'll talk about exactly what that event is, but DJ Alexander will be our guest as he talks about winning his first bracelet. He'll be the first half guest and Chad Holloway will be on the second half. But before we get to that, let's talk about some of the news and there was a lot of it this week. Many players winning their second third or basically multiple bracelet, the big story is Phil Helmut Phil Helmut is on a tear, 5 final tables, one win. He won the 1500 deuce to 7 lowball event and has also come into the final table for other times. One of them was right after the douche to 7. It was the ten K dealer's choice championship. And he ended up heads up for the title, but this gentleman won his fourth bracelet Adam Friedman for almost a quarter $1 million, but what's more incredible is that he has won this event three times in a row. We can't say three years because there wasn't held last year. But he won in 2018, 2019, and now 2021, the ten K championship dealers choice of a really incredible feat and definitely one of the most amazing feats in World Series history. David bakes baker wins his third bracelet winning the 1500 limit deuce to 7 lowball triple draw event. Josh REA who finished in third in the 2004 WSO P Maine event wins another bracelet as well collecting his third for almost two little over 200 thousand dollars. Another gentleman who is just on an unbelievable tear this last couple of months, he took down a couple of events at the poker masters tournament winning the coveted purple jacket, then taking down the super high roller bowl for 3.4 million, and now he's a three time bracelet winner winning. The 2021 $50,000 high roller event over Justin. Bonobo for $1.1 million. Congratulations to Michael O'Donnell, what an incredible summer. He is having. Well, when we return, we will have DJ Alexander talking about winning his first bracelet and then after that Chad Holloway of poker news talking about his initial impressions for the first half of the 2021 live version of the World Series of poker won't be returned here. On the 14th anniversary celebration of the Bernard Lee poker show..

You have the 1500 super super turbo bounty and also the $50,000 high roller rent. Those are events number 37. And 38, of course, there are going to be 88 live tournaments. There'll be ten tournaments held online in Las Vegas in one in Pennsylvania, incredible time that we are going to be having over the next month at the World Series. Also some other events in the coming week, the $10,000 horse will be on Wednesday. Also, the $10,000 pot limit Omaha championship will be held on October 23rd. And then the ten K dose to 7 single draw no limit hold them championship will be held on Monday. Some of the winners of this week speaking of dose to 7, the $1500 no limit due to 7 low ball single draw event, which I have talked about many times as one of my favorite events of the year was one by none other than Phil pelvis. He is now a 16 time wso P bracelet winner. Phil has made four cattle four final tables already this year. And now he takes home a title. So congratulations to him. He's now just barely in second place before player of the year. And the reason why he is in second place is Anthony Zeno has now won two bracelets this summer, Anthony Zeno is on fire as well as he has taken down both of these bracelets. His latest one is a $1500 horse event, but he also won one earlier in the $10,000 7 card stud championship. Another event where Phil Helmut was a final tables. The $1000 flipping go no limit hold of tournament, which had a lot of controversy about the event, but was won by champion DJ Alexander for a $180,000. The ladies no limit hold them championship was won by Laura eisenberg for about a 115 thousand dollars. Also, chance Corinth good ambassador and former guest of the show had one event 29 for the $10,000 short deck, no limit hold them of vent. So many events are still going on and we'll get you more news and more interviews in the coming weeks. We're looking to get Phil. How have you thought to talk about his 16th bracelet? Anthony Zeno, all of these gentlemen, we are trying to get on the show to talk about their wins. Well, today we have two guests on that are synonymous with the World Series of poker. First, the vice president of ws O P and the tournament director Jack Ethel will join us, giving us his initial impressions of the 2021 W SOP, how he feels it is going so far, some of the hiccups that happen during the reunion event, but really how they have gotten back on track and how the numbers have been very, very good. During the second half of our show, we will have none other than Daniel kid poker, nagrania, talking about his recent overall championship at the poker ghost studio and how he feels entering the 2021 W S O P, but when we return, we'll have Jack Ethel and then we'll have Daniel on the ground. Here, as we continue the 14th anniversary celebration of the Bernard Lee.

WSOP Field Sizes Are Dropping
"I know i said the wsb gets a pass on field sizes in a year over year comparison because things have changed dramatically since twenty twenty however last year's fields was two thousand one hundred twenty six centuries from fourteen hundred hundred fifty. Five weeks seems awful. Yeah it feels like a really steep drop off right there. And i know that we talked about it and i was thinking something like maybe like a thirty percent. Drop off. I think would been good and acceptable. Just based upon the fact of everything that's going on in poker right now that having that kind of field size would still be good but this does feel quite thin for championship. Event as a sixty two percent drop year over year in total entries. That's that's ugly no matter what. The circumstances are surprised that low. I did have it being over a thousand. Maybe getting closer to fifteen hundred total entries but Just seem to be a sort of a. Instead of being the exclamation point at the end of the series. It was kind of a hard thud. Couple of other events wrapped up in the closing days mitchell harrison. Brad's osman and dancing. Lar- winning the finale though event to run after the championship event all in all. I think he's probably pretty happy with with word. Got out of it. It seems like there was maybe far less appetite than even they'd predicted given all the different changes so We're gonna see what happens with the gp stuff which is now underway. They started just as w dot com is wrapping up. Gee-gee was sort of hitting the gas pedal on there's the fifty dollar buying kickoff event called the return man i'm going to butcher. This dudes bart lumpia bata. Oh man. that's really good. I think that's really good. I think you didn't really got okay. There's a hockey player with a similar name on relied on my my childhood memory hockey players. I was waiting with baited breath to see what would come out of your mouth. Very give call him. I'm going to call them bar because that's only fair to him cops. A thirty thousand eight hundred ten entry field takes him one hundred sixty thousand dollars not bad for fifty bucks. Yeah not bad at all. You know Last year the the field size was good too. I know last year the opener for the events it was double the buyin one hundred dollar opener and they got twenty nine thousand three hundred six runners. And so this this. I know it's a difference in half of the buy-in but still for field size. I think that's a pretty good

And finally i captured him for the grade. He brought a hand that he played with nine five suited just a few days ago. It was in a home game that i played into jonathan. My i live guests in the grid for over a year. We aren't a beautiful beach and poker retreat weekend and so john that i have to thank you for taking time out from champagne and sicilians for this little chat. It's actually really really funny. I'm glad that we were able to meet up this weekend. Were out here in southampton. And i'm glad i was able to shenyang only fill a spot in the grid with a hand that you saw me play so that was actually kinda fun. Was the nine five of clubs nine five of clubs and tell us a little bit about your relationship to poker. Now i came in with the big poker. Boom of chris moneymaker like many people our age when it was first on. Espn and You know the the world series started growing and we started meeting. These guys. Like phil hellmuth and phil ivey and whatnot. And i became extremely interested in playing. So i got a party. Poker account full tilt poker account and luckily living in new york city. I had a lot of opportunities to play in some underground poker game. So i would say of all of the poker played in my life. Probably eighty percent of it has taken place in underground games mostly in new york city but also other places around the country starting with cash games. You know when my bankroll was really low one to no limit will come up to two five and five five these days playing a lot of five ten pillow so bring us back to those days. What was poker like then. Well there were so many people who played and because of the numbers so many who thought that they were amazing so many people who consider themselves professional regardless of how much they could support themselves with the game regardless of how much they think they knew that perhaps read. A few books played a bunch. Got a few cashews. And i can't lie. I probably was one of those people you know. We were all kind of swept up in the u. Fauria of everyone being able to play their poker rooms opening up all over the place on riverboat casinos and indian reservations in a c- in vegas and you know Foxwoods mohegan sun. So everywhere. I would go for instance. There was a long-term tournament at the foxwoods casino in connecticut. And i would often play. Maybe the first few rounds get a little bored and then eventually miss around and go to the poker games because i was doing a little bit better in the poker game so definitely poker was there was cachet. I mean if you recall a time they had the heads up. Poker tournament on nbc. Cyber poker shout at exactly celebrity poker showdown poker was in the zeitgeist definitely between two thousand three and two thousand eight ish and i would say that was really a part of the hebei of me playing.

I might sell my desk. Hey yeah and then and then give a all that money. Veronica i believe i donated a database review or something. And you're telling me that for that whole show. No one offered to buy that service and donate that money to kale's van. I don't believe that's true. I can't believe it. that's amazing. That went didn't fly off the shelf. The first two he was looking to sweep agron you negroni was looking to have some redemption and save some face by finally defeating defeating how this was four. Four hundred thousand dollars in two hundred thousand dollars apiece and what happened man. I i mean it's just incredible. It's just this The phil hummy train continues to roland. Nobody can can stand in front of it. He sweeps antonio's fan. Dra wins through straight against him for fifty k. Person for one hundred k. Person for two hundred k person antonio loses his right to challenge fill chooses to stay stool. Boom we move on to high stakes tool to daniel Steps in the with all this heads up experience now after playing doug hold time and time and time again and cash none go but still negroni. The heavy favourite hell me wins round. One person how swings round to one hundred per cent and this week. Helmuth wins round three for two hundred k. A person it was almost the same script. Chad like we saw for the first couple rounds of high stakes tool to mcgraw nude jumping out to an early lead in super deep stack. Play mirani clearly at the edge. I think phil would tell you that as well so ground who had the lead helmi fought back. I think that you can say again. That helped me to get hit in the head by by the deck for sure there were plenty of times flop trips turned trips etcetera etcetera. Now with that said two things number one they got it in kings versus kings negroni one number to fill in one of the biggest parts of the night fairly early on when absolutely ham with eight. Three of clubs against niagara new and his deuces in agronomy saw something in phillips like he had a reader attell. That was weak. But phil followed through on this crazy blah. Ns got through so there's no doubt about it as an agronomy said at the end of the match. That phil hellmuth deserve to win. That he deserved to win high stakes stool to and that four hundred thousand dollars three hundred fifty camp profit. Well-done films what were your thoughts five betting five bedding with a after a suited like. Let's give this man some credit. I've been saying it for a long time. I'm a film fan even did antonio's family oury three in sweep. He got a ground. You want to three main. When when's poker will start giving him some of the credit that he deserves. And i like. We talked about in past episode. It was a win win situation as far as story lines. Go by a. I think this is a feather in the cap for helmut for sure and in kudos to you for pain him to complement and You know saying he deserved to win. It makes me wonder where this leaves. Negra new I listened to him on the debt. Khokar podcast every week. I love it. It's a great show how they recommended and in that you know even admitted that he's he was a little rattled by being beat the first two times and now he's been beat three times in who says he's playing the best poker of his career right now all the studying that. He's done the solver work and he's put a lot of Of working to his game but he's not seen the results agency a year in the helmet high stakes dwells. You didn't see it during the. Don't be results oriented but it does matter you could be the best. Ufc fighter as far as training goes in in pound for pound strength. But of you're not winning matches you are not a winner in in the ufc so in poker you have to be winning as well to be to be a winner in into gronya. Hasn't been doing a lot of this far now. I did say this tweeted it in. Negroni tweeted back. Saint he agrees. I think between the wpa summer online bracelets which are slated to start in one week. We'll be recovering them for focus and the full schedule in the fall between the live and online versions. I think you is going to win a bracelet. at least one race at and he's gonna find number seven. I think it's long overdue. I do think he's playing extremely well. And i think that that's going to happen. I hope it happens. Because i think he might need that. Sort of a boost. He needs a win under his
