"My home city. Okay. Well, the things that we would definitely want to avoid is you mentioned a lot of the different meat things. Many of those we will want to avoid. The things we use in a pinch for a pet that's on a diet like SO would be eggs, we can use eggs or chicken. But we stay away from a lot of the heavier meats. And you mentioned vegetables and fruits and so there are some fruits and vegetables we can use that are appropriate along with this diet. I'll often recommend bananas, melons, green peas, cauliflower, those kind of foods would be appropriate. Some of those foods might not be a bad thing, but I would hate for you to be out on the road and rely on those food items as your main source of a diet. A large bag. The super large bag, and I'm gonna put them out. Probably about 30 pounds on the so I won't be out, but it just caught me unawares this time and one other solution that I might recommend and we use this solution for folks around us that travel is you can ask your veterinarian for either prescription card or a written prescription for that food. And if you're heading through another community. And if you have a written prescription for that food, you may very well be able to buy that at a veterinary office, but you can't just go in and say, hey, I need that SO food. Most places will say we're not comfortable selling that to you unless we knew you really need this for your pet. So that might be another little trick to try. I'm in Q one, Illinois in a freezing weather. Oh. Oh, well, we'll send our warm wishes your way. What's going on with your pet today? Actually, it's not nothing is going on with my pet. It's some stuff that we've heard about. And I listen to you last week and you talked about it a little bit. But dynamite, it's got a website kind of like dot com. And my question was this is we feed our dogs what is called nature's recipe. And we get it from PetSmart. And it's a very good dog food. We use it here at the studios. It's good stuff. It's a very replicable brand. They say that the dynamite is supposed to be really good. It gives insights and all this stuff. So does the dynamite for starters does it work? Is it true what they say because it's pretty expensive? And does it take the place? I mean, can you actually feed your dogs per state, junk lower quality dog food? If you're feeding them the dynamite? Okay, some good questions there Kelly. And the first thing is I'll be honest. I am not on the dyno bandwagon. I'm a little bit concerned about any product that makes such grand claims that it's going to cure allergies and all of these type of things. Right. So can you feed a bad food and make up for it with a supplement? No, you can not. And just like with people, if you don't eat a good balanced diet, pop in those vitamins every day does not make up for that. Same thing is true for our pets. So if you've got a good quality diet, I believe that that is the heart of the nutrition question here. And then there are supplements will sometimes add in. So I'm not opposed to trying a supplement for the benefit of fatty acid supplementation or maybe a pet that might have skin problems we might look at some zinc supplements, things like that. So there may be that benefit from this, but I would definitely run away from any product that tells you that it's going to be a cure all. And that's just my honest opinion with that. Have I used it on my own pets? No, but I feed them a good diet and they get their fatty acids every day. And I try.

I knew that what I say you're well, You know what I said. Last year do hand. Remember what I said. Last year, I said Duhamel has been it's been butchered my whole life. Whatever you call me all answer to not just Josh trying to well, now you've been staying busy. The last year you've had some career changes are doing different things. But now you're working on something kind of special for the animals. What's that all about? Well, you know, it was never anything that I set out to do. I've never had dogs or cats arraigned and growing up. I used to catch you know, turtles and frogs and stuff like that is a kid. I always had a real fascination with animals in nature and getting my degree in biology because of all that, But I didn't. I didn't really set out to do anything until I got a dog. Uh, I think the second year olds on Las Vegas I bought a dog named Joey, which I still have. And I didn't know at the time. Anything about rescuing. I didn't know that was even crossed my mind and it wasn't It wasn't till right after I bought Zoe that Ah woman in Lorries, Erwitt, Who's My Who's the UPM on a show like that? The line producer. But what you're doing, you schmuck millions of dogs out there. They're looking to be rescued and like, oh, Okay. And so when it became time to find a little friend for Zoe Way started looking around for our arrest. You dog, a sort of a friend for her, and not from our first became Introduced to animal rescue and meatloaf was little guy that we rescued and he was just truly the sweetest little dog. You could imagine the best pet and everybody loved him and when he died a couple years ago Uh, you know, I just posted I think I was on my twitter that you know, rest in peace, meatloaf. He was a rescue, and from then it just sort of kind of became One of my One of the things that I'm passionate about. And the more I learned, the more passionate I become. And and here we are, You know, several years later, we just produced Ah Little Web series called Rescue Wagon. Tales from the road with PetSmart Charity's Oh, that's awesome. And you're the executive producer on that. Yes, Yes, I am. I was actually doing some work with That's more charity is a couple of years ago in New York, uh, celebrating the five million pet adoption And it was then that I learned from a guy named Steve Pawlowski, who runs the marketing over at PetSmart Charities that, uh, You know, used to sort of give me a rundown on some of the charities. They're with their they're involved with in this one really caught my eye the rescue wagon program because I thought it was a beautiful story that these dogs who are literally on you know Brink of being put down. Uh, which four million dogs a year do get put down. They go in. They right there. Scoop him up some of these shelters that can't Theyjust can't sustain financially. All these dogs that are sort of Dropped on them. And so what? This rescue wagon does comes and picks them up. And take some parts of the country where they're looking or families or looking for rescue animals. Believe it or not, That's great. There's places around the country that not necessarily shortage, but Uh, can can can help sustain more animals, more dogs. And I just thought I'd be a great idea to sort of tell it from the dog's point of view and sort of Explain what this program is in in a narrative. Which is this Web series. You've enlisted the help of some of our other friends. Kristen Bell and Bret Michaels. Yes. And many others. You know, it's it's It's something that Kristen Bell is very. I know Kristen very well. She's a Truly the one of the sweetest people I know. Uh, and she's a huge animal rescue advocate. And so I just reached out to her and said, You mind giving us Your story for the show, and she did it immediately. And it's those little stories that I think, sort of add more color to the show and just make it even better than already Wass And the beauty of this show is you don't have to subscribe to Netflix. And you don't have to sign up for Spike TV. No, this is all online at rescue wagon and the spell W A G I n a wagon tale. Yeah. What is the reaction like so far is it to have you crashed any servers? You even seen the results yet? I just know that the people that have seen it a really responding well to it. Which I'm really proud of it. You know, I have a little team of people that really helped me with my my my producing partners who have done No, they couldn't help produce American Idol And they've done the survivor and shows like that. So they understand how to make these kinds of shows and really tell a compelling story. And it was, uh Without them. I couldn't have done this because This is one of my first ventures into producing and and this is the kind of stuff that we want to do it My my company's things that actually means something, and and so you know, I like I said, I'm very proud of it. And I think that show just keeps getting better and better. You know, we're still sort of finishing up the last couple episodes, but every time I watch it, it just keeps getting better. And it's exactly what we set out to do is to You know, show what the program is Advocate, you know, rescuing versus buying from puppy mills or whatever and just sort of telling the tales from from the dog's point of view, and it's It's a beautiful thing. That's awesome. I want to congratulate you and Fergie on your new addition, your two leg in addition to your family, and how does your dog get along with the baby? Oh, it's really funny. First, so he really didn't want much to do with him because she saw him is sort of Running interference on her time, But now she sees him as a potential playmate and Balto or more specifically, and it's funny how she sort of has taken on kind of a protective role. You know if he's laying there rolling around on this little spot You kind of just sits there and watches him. Um, patiently waiting for the day that she can, you know, enlist him is faulty or because she will do it all day if she could get him to do it. Josh before you go. I just wanted to say you're gonna think I'm a goon. But I swear to God at least once a year, Me and my wife sit down and watch one a day with Tad Hamilton, one of the best movies ever that not enough people have seen And your facial expressions are incredible. "Wise from major pet supply websites in the month of June shows the majority of both cat and Dog Owners and Hal. I'm doing this story. Because you know we talked to Jeff Jenkins last hour and you wanted proof so hit wise gave it to us. They found out that at least those doing the buying for their pets that most of them are women and that the women who own dogs make nearly twice as much as those who own cats so the majority of the pet owners they have found are women and Judy. I saw you run over to the microphone to laugh and I'm so glad you did because we were right. Yes pre out in the pudding in the pets and animals. Industry hit Weiss says that CHEWY DOT COM and Petsmart Poland more than ten percent of pet industry website visits as those websites that are strictly all about pets and pet products but they also analyze the data from a lot of us that are online pet supply shoppers. They say that we start off on Shui Dot Com and then head over to Amazon to compare prices. Make sure we're getting the best deal and that most of I ended up buying on Amazon instead I was a die hard shoe fan and I know you guys probably were too. But since they've been purchased by Petsmart I think think things are running a little differently. I I've gotten several email notices saying that. They're no longer carrying this brand or that it's really changed. From wondering, I'm David Brown, and this is business daily on this Wednesday June twenty sixth. We've said it before and boy, is it true Americans love their dogs all the way to the cash register just considered shui the pet food delivery company when it went public on June fourteenth shares shot past its opening price by sixty percent as hungry investors gobbled up everything they could the company, which is archly owned by PetSmart raised a billion dollars in its IPO the market now values chew at about fourteen billion, even though the company has never turned a profit and it faces a growing pack of pretty ferocious rivals. That's right. The Amazon like e Taylor sales doubled every year between twenty fourteen and twenty seventeen and zoomed even higher last year to three point five billion dollars. But it is still. Losing money as one stock analyst said those losses are getting smaller, but still, it's reminiscent of stock values during the internet, bubble when prophets briefly didn't seem to matter. But this year all IPO's are not the same meaning investors. See something in shui that they're not seeing in other recent public offerings like Uber's which flopped back in may. So what did she do? Earn a blue ribbon. Well the company claims to be the country's largest online pet retailer. It sells all things that your four legged companions get ever need from food to pet medications to birdseed, and even grooming supplies for your horse about sixteen hundred brands sit on its virtual store shelves, since it launched its shipped one hundred million orders, a good number of those subscriptions repeat shipments that take the pain out of forgetting the lizard food at the pet store. It's also capitalizing on our trend toward acting like our furry feathers. Three and scaling companions are essentially our children smart business move since pet ownership is growing, like crazy, particularly among millennials. We lavish so much attention and money in our shit, Susan Siamese that the market for pet products has doubled since two thousand five it's now worth about seventy billion dollars a year. We even spoil our pets during downturns in that's important. The market continued to grow steadily during the great recession. This is not to say that shoe is growth could continue unconstrained where one company discovers a lucrative market, so others last month. Walmart opened an online pharmacy called pet Rx dot com, which delivers any of three hundred brands of pet meds to your door presumably its own vets are prescribing. Those beds, WalMart has twenty one veterinary clinics in it stores now and his opening another one hundred by next spring. It could be a dog fight between chewy and WalMart. There are still a lot of questions about chewy. Is it overvalued will it hold its own against a growing pack of rivals. When will it turn a profit and? Oh, yeah. Does it company? It's called on chewy here. Boy. From wondering this business daily subscribe to our show for free on apple podcasts Ugo podcast. It your or Spotify. Thanks so much for listening. I'm David Brown. Then I don't like the worst person in the world, and I was lucky enough to get her back, and before I bought her back that lady her name was Betty, she stood in the parking lot where she made me come in meet her, and she said, hold on a minute if you hundred a word forever, don't take her and say he was was ticked off at me. She kinda clean into Betty. And looking at me like, I don't know if I'm going, and then she said if you don't understand that from now on when he ended all over to you you are responsible for everyone of her needs. You must do that food water safety medical care, if you don't get that don't take her and then the lasting she said to me. And if you understand that she. She's gonna get old, and she's not going to be able to do things that she was able to do, and you're gonna have to lift erupts, and you're gonna have to learn to talk to her when she can't hear and you may have to lend her food. There are many things ahead that you have to understand come with forever. And I took her and I have camp all of those promises. She's fourteen years old today and the utter joy, just you know, goes way beyond any of the Dan I've had to do for her. But we do need some good local laws governing or shelters and how how they is tribute dogs. Follow up is so important. I'm glad you brought that up. They don't do that as often that I've noticed. So that's a good one follow up xactly simple phone call. If you're in control officer he could have a list of the addresses. We're dogs have been in in adoptive home for two weeks. And if he's in the area, he could stop in it. It's very easy thing to do. I see the animal control officers out out all the time. They could certainly stop in and see how the dog was doing because there's an agreement if you don't want the dog you've to bring it back. And if you stop in the on, and I say, don't let these people's lives do them for breach of contract, reman, and sooner or later people start to get the picture. Hey, you know, it's not a trivial thing you go to shoulder you get it free dog. And and you don't wanna let it go. No has to clearly has to become totally out. There that this is not acceptable. Yes. When a wanna be in your courtroom, can you maybe touch upon some of the work that you've done like books of projects that our audience can benefit from my notes done multiple. Yes. And I'll tell you I chase. I ever had involving dog involved a negative pet store. That's why I'm so glad you know, what's going.

"And is doing it better than new and kind of capitalize on that fear within us that just kinda makes me feel like he drives me nuts. And as a creative that is a huge fear within each of us in some way. Where like I don't feel like I can do anything after I look in those types. Of posts people. So it's a little confusing too. Because I follow a few people that I appreciate what they're doing. But they they're photo shows like the perfect action. Then the text says up all of like their struggles. And like how they wanna be offensive in real. And all you know, they are sharing the caption, but the Pitt. Yes, like early confused, where's a real part of your life. Then exactly exactly. And so I think that's another thing. I'm hoping that people are maybe that's in that attempt to try to move away from this where you know, it was everyone's stressed out about finding the perfect image. Posting them perfect thing that you know, we can be a little bit more real with from entrepreneur entrepreneur conversations in how we sell to each other. And how we connect with each other. So I think hopefully, we're moving in the right direction. But when I see. The kind of smarmy soft. That's mainly Lamey. That's a good way to go. Yeah. Yeah. That that is my pet peeve. So I mean, this is a good PetSmart Munis smarmy nece. All right last one Michelle how do you want to be remembered? Lou. I think I want to be remembered by someone as as someone who acted. "Render from the city welfare department. Joining us this morning team has been on. I guess you guys decided to give Stacey finally some time. All right. Stacy's taking a few days off spend time with his wife. So well, you know, she probably would appreciate that more. Maybe not yet. Really? No all right about your pal that you brought in here today. Tina? This is the guy's name is nNcholas. He's ten years old little terrier scruffy dog. He is house trained and just super easy goin'. We've had him with several dogs at the shelter. Does really well with other animals, he just needs a good home to spend the rest of his life. And he just easy easy back. He's he's a little older than than what you guys usually bring inside. I'm going to guess he had been maybe with the family and their circumstances changed and they had to give him up for adoption. Is that kind of the way it worked? He was with the family who just wasn't able to care for him anymore. So he has been in a home his whole life. He he will not use the bathroom in his kennel. He's really good about going outside. He loves to walk on a leash. She's just a super easy. Oh, and he would probably be really good for family that does like to God walk or or maybe even a an older. Couple who still get out pretty active because he certainly seems to be a very well behaved and break. Goodwill dog there. Yeah. He's really good little dog gone. A you know, he's got a little Bob tail there. Yeah. I don't know if he has some Jack Russell and him or not he's a little bit bigger than your average, Jack. He's about thirty pounds. But he definitely looks like a giant Jack Russell terrier. He does right. Yeah. He Canada's same thing. He's a little bigger than you, usually. You know, you never know sometimes as usual, you guys gonna be out and about in the communities where can folks come see you this weekend. We are going to be Saturday. We'll be a PetSmart in midwest city from eleven to four and then Sunday will be PetSmart on. I two forty from eleven thirty to three thirty. Have you guys? I know the community always response when you know, you guys are over there. It's always kind of really big fun event. And that the RV that you bring out all those animals in there. That's gonna get a little crazy at times. We actually as far as the communities concerned, we are always looking for volunteers and fosters, and we have our volunteer orientational Saturday. At our location twenty seven south east twenty ninth street at ten o'clock people can just show up if they're interested in learning. How to become a foster for us or learning how to be volunteer? That's something that, you know, some some folks aren't maybe necessarily able because of where they live to where they can have a dog, especially a big dog. But we have a lot of people who live animals who love dogs and your volunteers are so important to what you guys do just taking those dogs out for a walk or a run whatever they might need. Absolutely. We have so many different opportunities for the volunteers volunteers even run these adoption vents that we talk about every week. So we have a lot of different opportunities for them. But just getting these dogs out and giving them a chance to get out of the kennels and take run outside makes all the difference in the world. You're Bala cheers one thing. And then you mentioned the the fosters tell us a little bit about that program. If somebody's listening to this. And this is the first time there. They're hearing about that are fosters, especially this time of year are just essential for us to be able to hit that ninety percent live release rate. So we are looking at a lot of puppies coming into the shelter and possibly kittens soon. So we have a lot of different opportunities for Foster's. They can foster baby animals just until they're big enough for surgery. If that's what they're looking to do. They can foster moms with babies they can foster animals that have been injured. So sometimes just animals that don't do on the shelter and a little scared needs some outside the shelf Cuna Rimmer with Oklahoma City animal welfare and Tina reminded again where you guys are gonna be this weekend. We're going to be at PetSmart and midwest city on Saturday, and then PetSmart and to forty on Sunday, and as usual if people want to get a look at Nickless and the other pets you guys have the websites. Great place to go. They can go to www. Okay. See dot gov slash animal, welfare and checkout. All. All the animals. All right. Very good. Tina Tina, thank you very much. And we wish Stacey a lot of on his days.

"Not Oklahoma's first news on this Friday. Stacey Hollywood Oklahoma City animal welfare is with us as usual and Stacey you've got a good looking female dog today. I brought you a border collie real deal here. She is this is Katie. She's nine months old. So she's a black with white border. Collie got all the classic border collie looks and she's very affectionate. Yes. She is. We actually funny story on her. We found her in the parking lot of the shelter. So somebody probably drove at dropped her off, which is a no no don't do that. But you know, what would happen grabbed her obviously, somebody wanted to have a good home. But just didn't spend the time to bring her inside. Just take five minutes just come on in. And she is now ready to find her new forever hall. She is she's a Spade and recovered from her surgery. She got all her shots. She's passed her health checks. She has microchip in there. And so she's ready to go. You can rent a rent? Adopted talk like this for just sixty bucks at the shelter to get a really good really good deal on forever. And she's ready. She's trainable. I'm telling you this dog is this a frisbee dog. This is a dog. She's very motivated to learn. All right. Very nice. And then now you the guy that we had with us last week. Oh, yes. Didn't last Goldie lasted thirty minutes. We open for adoption at twelve thirty had already at twelve. So really she lasted about five minutes from opening and she was had forever home. So thank you very much for those who came by. There's like four or five people came out right away. It's probably more throughout the day. Sorry, you're disappointed. But I warned. And that that happens sometimes with you know, because we hear it, Katie. Okay. And then you guys are on our sister stations. Also k x y and k j you make other stops around with other media. So I mean, you know, where he gets out. We're covering it. Pretty yeah. You know, we're focusing on this one pet of the week, but we have hundreds of able option and cats were coming in now against or have another kitten season's getting ready to start running. So if you're looking for a cat combined ceus, we're going to be out and about in the community want to talk. Yeah. I know the the weather's going to be a little sketchy this weekend. But where are you guys gonna be if the weather's permitting and everything's good has been pretty bad the slowest down, but we'll be in midwest city on Saturday from eleven to four at the PetSmart that's on southeast twenty nine that's eleven to four on Sunday PetSmart opens her doors res- again on I two forty and pin will be there from ten thirty to three thirty again, weather permitting. We'll have our big RV, and you can check out that beautiful equipment and check out. What's inside? You never know what you'll find. Well. And that's always a that's a great service that you guys do now with the weather, and you know, I mean, we're still who knows what may really happen. But it looks like it's going to be unpleasant. At least as far as temperatures are concerned, we could see record cold here in the Oklahoma City area. And so I I wanted to just you know, you give our reminder we've done this many times. But people tend to forget, it's always a good thing that side. It's a great thing to talk about. So I heard Sutton few minutes ago when I was listening talk about eight degrees low on Monday or a high. I guess that's. So we're subzero. So if you do have outdoor pets that are outdoor pets, you need to make sure they have some extra bedding we like, hey or wood chips are good. But Hayes really the best that what they want to scratch around it. They can they won't drag it out like a blanket. But if it's a blanket, it's a blanket, maybe put a blanket over the door to your outdoor shelter to keep.

"On the fringe of being mentally ill. We talk. What happened? You know, because trouble liberals are the scum of the earth. Had no idea what he's talking that phone was installed in nineteen thirty-one believe I think that Southwestern Bell sound like it was deep inside the bunker. I don't know. Inside the shelter. Something down there. Sara get me. The Todd Don show. Now, look at me when I'm talking to you. I am because I have a very important question for you. You've been lied to me up until now this is your opportunity to come clean. I don't lie. But go ahead. You haven't been quite telling me the truth. All right. Have you had the conversation with your wife about getting dawn? No, I have not I have not. And I think the way to approach that is this and I haven't because she's right in the middle of this thing right now, and it's really. Distracting her. She's on a business trip with better looking richer men. Exactly. Yeah. And so there hasn't been good opportunity to sit down. She knows that I want to. I think the way to approach it. And I really think that I'm that. I'm really onto something that I'm nailed it. Go ahead and get the dog. Yeah. I while she's out of town. Yes. And then say, hey, we need to have a conversation about this dog genius. That is exactly what you should do. You know, why? Because this could be the weekend to bring home some unconditional love the days ahead for animal advocates as they gear up for the PetSmart charities national adoption weekend shelters and rescue groups bringing all sorts of animals dogs cats rabbits, right in the PetSmart stores to display them to the public and show how adoptable they are. Caroline Tizzio of the every day adoption center in Albuquerque, New Mexico says the stores can be a great place to show off these animals, not the huge stress of the shelter environment parking not alive, smells, and stuff. Many rescue groups and shelters offering discounts on this weekend to PetSmart says with events like these over eight million pets have been saying. Saved. Jill Nado, Fox News. All right. So you thinking about a lab, right? Are you going to get like a brand new one run off the shelf right out of the package a freshman right out of the shell. You're going to go like the shelter. That's what I would like. But if if we if we ever get a dog, and given the fact we have two cats we're gonna have to get a smaller dog. Make sure he doesn't put my front yard. Like, a miniaturized lab. Well, with my it'll probably end up being like a dachshund or something like that. Doc said don't do that. It would be a dachshund that needs to get a real man's dog. That's what I would like to do. But if. Dog. That's like a half dog. No, I got you. But but but or or you know, a little terriers do that don't do that. What if it happens and it's a stretch, but it would have to be compromised. There'd be a lot of compromise. In in the compromise would be the size of that dog. I'm sure if it happened. It would have to be something that works well in concert. What is her problem will with cats? What is what is the problem with her dog? What's the problem with her dog? Yeah. What's the problem with her having a dog? I mean cat. The existing with cats that is the issue right there that is the number one issue making that combination. It would be it would the chaos would be remarkable. I gotcha. So market Pflueger Ville, good morning. Hey, good morning sellers. Hi, first time listener longtime caller. Thank you much. Thank you. Yeah. I just wanted to say the mayor's willing to spend tons of city. Sorry, taxpayer money on his apparent problem that we have running rampant in city government versus. Where where's the problem? They have a true. No, no. But we'll would like no because only city employees are calling into your station thing. I don't see any racism. What are you talking about? Yeah. Good point. He he's he's quickly pointing out a solution to a problem. He should point out the problem. I yeah. But that's. Nothing nothing different here. So I. I'm not exaggerating. Mark I've got like let's see one two three four different city employees that have sent me messages via Facebook this morning. Explaining how horrible the training was the undoing racism class two to two and a half days. I think that's what one Email said, oh, I bet it was Helena this. This city employees says they really emphasize how white Europeans have been and continue to be the privileged group. And even condemned the colonisation of America to the detriment of indigenous people Bravo Sierra now, you will get plenty of feedback as more and more rank and file employees are required to take the propaganda training for the mayor's socialist agenda. This is from a city employees who just went through the class casare right up this no lesson plan actually hired a group out of a New Orleans that at Louisiana somewhere that that a part of this text message here at five one two eight three six zero five ninety on this very topic. And it says are white wealthy male mayor living in a five million dollar luxury home, the w. And riding around in a chauffeured, shiny black SUV wants to fight white male privilege. The texter says look in the mirror, Steve. As your head is on your pillow. Yes. Austin is checking in from south Austin that is fun. His name is Austin. He's checking I bet I bet Austin has a brother named travel. I would love it. If it happened. I don't know if it can Austin good morning. Good morning area. You fine. Radio show. The problem with racism is the people see colors. It's is. Thing is racism. We're all the same. I just realized Todd was a white, man. I had no idea. It's never been an issue. And I just looked over wait a minute. You're white band. I'll be back. What you have to look at it. I was in west Austin and y'all talking about days confused earlier, what top notch was put in days confused to replace a holiday here is on exhibition bed working with the hand warned that I went to Austin, high graduated in nineteen eighty one. "When big things happen. I was thinking what city they happen. And it goes down in Boston. We're calling a Howard Bryant. Now, if it goes down in Philly, we're calling Schmidt New York cannizzaro nothing ever happens in San Diego. So I haven't had to call on Jay POS ner. The sports editor of the San Diego. Union Tribune longtime San Diego presence seen it all done at all in San Diego. And Manny Machado signs of the Fauji said, I gotta call my homeboy in the nine one six or are they still is it still the nine one six, I don't even know Posey J posters. Sportscenter. The union Tribune on the Murph and MAC show and the guest line. Good morning. Jay, how are you man? Good, murph. I think nine one six is down the road from you. But six six one ninety six one nine I had a little dyslexia there. My friend numeric dyslexia. Thank you. Are you guys still six one nine? I mean, I there's different area codes. Obviously, we outgrew the one but six one nine one. Okay. So we're so I threw a Sacramento there. I'm having a little numeric, but Posey's you do a morning show. Dude, the coffee the coffee only hits around ten AM. So, you know, I don't know how you guys do that. Is it fair to describe your know? It's all good, dude. And I want to get the San Diego, but just to establish your San Diego street cred. I think we can go there to you know, where I'm going, right? You know, he was the man who Ryan leaf just went after in that famous video knows hands oppose a bit of a celebrity. Right, jeff. So I mean, I always I always say that everybody has their fifteen minutes. And when it comes time for your bed, and they always had your name, comma who did something that'll that'll be my that's that's my combo. Yelled at by on the guy that got yelled at what did you say to piss them off so much? What what set them on? I didn't say anything. He he was mad about something. Wanted to he wanted to hear me out. So. Can I tell you? What can I tell you my side? Now started to tell my side. So he's. So he stood up together. You too. But it turns out you were wrong. He wound up being a hall of fame career had a hall of fame career. I know. And I knew it was gonna turn out that way after the game city yelled out when he was one for sixteen for four yards with five turnovers. Jesus Posey in all honesty. Is this the biggest thing? I mean, we know Tony Gwynn is forever San Diego. But he wasn't. He was a he was a draft pick. There was no, you know, maybe him getting his three thousand head or whatever. I don't know. But is this the biggest acquisition in San Diego sports history? Well, I would compare it was there's only two others that really compare and one does the other one. This was Kevin Brown coming here before the ninety eight season. Then put it wasn't quite like this. But it, but it turned out to be one of the biggest things this is probably the biggest thing to happen here in sports. Since the ninety eight World Series World Series was followed a month later by a vote on whether to build a ballpark past. And that's how we have Petco park. Otherwise, we ride up those sports teams. But the only other one the two pairs, and you really have to go way back when I was actually in college at the time. What was at the end of nineteen eighty-two Jack mckeon with McDonald's money of Joan and Ray Kroc. Steve Garvey away from the dodgers down to the Padres points to remember the Padres at that point were even more relevant than they are now. You know, never been anything since sixty nine for fourteen. Disaster. Garvey brought them credibility. They also went out and got other guys like dosage of nettles. And I think they already got Templeton at the time, although they gave up Ozzie Smith for him. Produce, the great the greatest moment in San Diego sports, which was Garvey hitting the home run against the cubs in the only thing that this could possibly compare to as far as I know one other thing was. Our friend that Canada. Don, Don coryell who coached the San Diego State when he was brought back to coach charges in seventy eight. That was also a big deal. So I think worth out level with this. I mean, this is something that's just doesn't happen in San Diego. San Diego sports does not include daddy Machado. Does not include baseball teams committing three hundred billion dollar baseball owners committing three million to somebody. So our intern is from point Loma and he's just not easier. Nodding his head everything you're saying he remembers the Petco vote and all that stuff. But when you said, otherwise, we wouldn't have any teams left in town. He actually attempt the sweat shirt. He's wearing today, which is the San Diego. Don't forget about the fleet. So disturbing. Fever here. We've the fleet actually adopted them Jay because we actually figured out that geographically there are closest a alliance team. And so we're like, yeah. That's why we're on board. So we're out with Berkovitch you were in with Nelson. We're on board, buddy. That's it. Got a rematch with Mike Riley and the only already back on arena league. Reema revenge for the burqa vici helmet incident, coming our way. So listen, tell me about these owners, I confess, I don't know because you know, everything changes we got two owners are we've got three here in the bay area that live. Well, what am I saying Moore, I say we got Davis, obviously lived forever. We got Joe lak- with the warriors. He's changed light years. Obviously, it's his famous phrase right to championship banners are flying in oracle. We've had even the recently deceased. Peter McGowan building the ballpark here. You know, gr- Eddie d say, no, more, right? So great owners can change everything. Great bad owners can change everything in great owners. So I don't know who Iran Fowler, and Peter Seidler are and you give me the four one one on these guys are they are they the Joe lake of of the Padres. Well, I mean, I would say after yesterday that could win of when you said that owners I started having. Turning now because all the comes into my mind is the Stockton Spanos has gone. Santos is almost from the nine one six, but it's a two oh nine. So. That's all we don't have a team his bad ownership as well as other rewrite. But hey, right anyway. Houston philanthropist around. Build things out because you know, John Moores was the only here for a while. Bill. He went through divorce at finance problems solved the team to just more out. It never got approved. It was a it was a bug. Look what disaster and these guys came in and sort of bail things out and a lot of data as it turns out cyber is part of the part of the O'Malley family is where they is is part of that. So I mean, they're legit. Got money. Questions about well how committed they were from. I five okay roles, and and that sort of thing, but you know, the last few years. Put about eighty million into the national market. And inside a lot of guys who think people in the next couple of years. The contract to will Myers. Contact. Eric hosmer last year. I'm not saying that all these wise boobs. They were spending the money, and then they made a commitment yesterday too. So I think whatever the opinion was that these guys before yesterday. Has all changed? Now. I'm not gonna say always. But it sounds like pretty much always forgiven based on what happened yesterday. Well, I mean, listen at all you ask your owner pry we had Howard Brian ESPN's, a good, buddy. And we had him on. He said if you're lucky if you're lucky you're owner cares about winning number one most of them care about revenue and control over winning. And it looks like Fowler and Seidler are announcing their presence. I mean now, I think that's true. And I think they have said that they're trying to build something that always made the wiser snows. These moves in two thousand fifteen guys like math camp James shields. It never worked out. The only thing about getting James shields was flipping through Fernando teach juniors valuable. One of the top prospects in baseball. And but there were there were questions about whether they were committed to winning. And I think they always said, look we have this plan. You gotta give us a little time. And trust us. We are interested in winning and we wanna contend for a long time when we get close. We're gonna spend money the players and the last couple of years, that's what they've done with with hosmer Machado. So I think I think we need to believe what they said, which is that they are interested in winning as you as you said, that's all you can ask for an older is trying to win matrix competitive. Give us something to cheer for other than good fish tacos. And crap. Okay. Which are excellent. By the way, Jay Posner last couple minutes. Here is the sports editor the San Diego union Tribune. Lifelock Posey you go to high school down there. I went down here for a couple of years. I graduated from Carmel. From you guys. Look, those are the only two years I did not live in southern California. Yeah, you're mostly those two. I see, you know, the area stone cold. And so I just think I was just trying to imagine. Listen, everybody loves a winner. So there's never been a team in a World Series or a Super Bowl or an MBA files. It hasn't had a, but I'm just I've never seen. Petco like pack to the Brown unhinged with fans like you don't wanna go to Petco. 'cause you're gonna get served. Do you know what I mean? It's like, I can just imagine. If it ever, you know, I mean, I'm saying it could definitely could yet just takes winning. That's it. Because even in the years Petco opened four Renton to the final week six. They won the division. But the team was under. They wanted to two wins there. No six they got blown out in the playoffs by the cardinals seven. They went down to the game 163. The mount holidays auto. I mean twenty ten they went down to the final day loss to the giants up there and had a winning season since. So you're right. I mean Petco cheers at Petco. Up in the homerun derby what it was. And actually. The last time it was here and the the biggest cheer. I remember from the world baseball. Classic was Adam Jones. Vicki this. Unbelievable catch in center field. Homerun? The ball was Manny Machado. That's funny. That's really funny. It's a neat. Little trick. Neat little link there. That's funny, actually pose. You hate to say this. I don't mean to crush you. But the biggest cheers Petco of been from giants fans dating that right? Tim lister? No, that's right. Jeez. Man. The only the only no hitter at you'll know. No hitter at Petco. And it's interesting. The opener this year the opening series inches against the giants. Coach finally now, we've got such great success here. It's a great success as a player visit that upset, but certainly as a as a manager took the team to the World Series in ninety eight. And was the manager the last time they wanted the playoffs here. A lot of fun. I mean, you know, Bumgarner on the mound that day. Casey who hates us some undetermined project AJ, you know, what else? Hey, seven separates four. But also, San Diego kind of sporting history. I've always thought this j like if you go all the way back to nineteen eighty two when the chargers had to go to Cincinnati and play that AFC championship game. Was it like literally like sixty degrees below zero and the Bengals won and went on to lose to the Niners. I always wondered like what would have been different if the chargers if that game was in San Diego. I'm gonna go ahead and say they win that game. They were so good offensively. And then who knows like in the super beta, given the John. I'm just saying how the course of history might have been different like in so many ways not only for the charge of everything we're talking about the fans in the city if that win or rather if that game was played in San Diego doors, the Bengals beat them in San Diego. Anyway. People go crazy for the cartridge ninety four. You know, what they did go to the Super Bowl only get blown out by of course, the Niners? But. The night. They came home from Pittsburgh stadium was packed with seventy thousand people that never happened. So they didn't win the Super Bowl. They just got to the Super Bowl. Yeah. The stadium people here were nuts over the chargers and six fourteen and to you know, the. It against the patriots. Two thousand nine there were thirteen and three. There's still nothing here. Like, there's never been anything here. Like the people getting excited. The over years and years of time the Padres in four it was crazy. It was crazy. But for the most part they tend to the playoffs five times in forty nine years. To get excited about it. And that's what yesterday is about bringing you the Chato. That's something for people to say. Hey, look, we got something excited about that. Doesn't happen. Very often in Europe, especially since we lost football team. Yeah. Well, other than fleet ball. You know, what I mean, we're talking? When was the last time you have the new thing happened?.

"All those episodes. Now, it's time for a personal anecdote for me for all the skippers up there because they'll never know this bit of information that you the loyal listener who just lets the the tape play you'll have this information, and they won't and here it is. I once had a pet frog. I was a frog guy for like three months, which is very strange because I've never I've never been like I never had a snake. I was never exotic pet guy. I knew a friend with a monkey that didn't end. Well, I won't say how it ended. It's very depressing, but I had a pet frog that was far as I went into the reptile or small pet or Guinea pig or fish arena. My mom had several fish over the course of my childhood. I never cared for him too much, and they usually ended up dead within a week. But this frog he meant something to me. I picked him out from PetSmart Cuco. He was green. He was about the size of like, I don't know silver dollar, and he always would escape from this this habitat, I built in this. You know, you by cage when you're in PetSmart, it's a seat. It's not cage. It's a seat through habitat. And you fill it up with stuff that frogs love and the hang out in there. Well, he would always escape from this fucking thing. Like from the gig from day one. He got finding ways to open the lid. I don't know how I would never see him do it. He would just find ways to get out at find him in my room and have to put him back. His habitat. So of course, I named him Houdini because he was escape artist. I don't remember what kind of froggy was. But again, he was a PetSmart frog. He was awesome. And he was dope. But then one day Houdini escaped from his cage he often did. And he decided never to return. Couldn't find him in my room. I searched the whole house under every possible, nook and cranny, Knowstone, unturned, couch, cushions beds, everything torn to shreds Houdini was gone, and he was never seen or heard from again. I like to think he's out there somewhere nature running a frog podcast with an organized crime. Syndicate that steals, whatever it is frogs care about as much as we care about. Poland napkins to shout out to Dini, the frog I once had, and that's my personal antidote that all the skippers out. There will never know real life. I know they're all fucked.
