And so I sat the alarm and the babysitter, I would tell her the alarm code, and I've told it to her before, but I don't think she remembered it. And no one was coming, so she needed, and I could always turn it off for my phone. But obviously she knows my phone number. But so my son got a terrarium. He's really into nature. He had gotten a terrarium, but he earned a long time ago, but I ordered it a long time ago when he was having after a period during which he earned this little terrarium thing. And by ordered it ordered an air quotes because I never actually placed the order. But he doesn't really understand how quick things are supposed to shit. So I can't be like, yeah, I don't know why PetSmart is. Thank you so long. And then don't piss me off because he would do shit, where I'd be like, dessert, this fucking terrarium and I don't want this dirt in my house. But the problem was he had been earned it a long time before, so I technically like, I couldn't take it back from or I shouldn't take a background, but I'd never actually placed the order. I'm just one of those times when you take a side street that you don't want me to direct you back to the mainstream. I know where I'm going. I know. This is my nimble, I'm nimble, I'm floating around. Okay, gotcha. And so. Well, that was one of the words that you said that you can't say around couples, but you can say it on the podcast. Listen, that's not true. I said it was nice that we could go out with couples where we could say things. Right. But I'm so sorry. She just said. I'm sorry. We don't have to edit some stuff out. But so anyway, so he was outside in our back filling the terrarium before our date. And it's big. So he's like carrying it in and out the screen door and we have a cat remember he's not an outdoor cat. And definitely loves the cat or son loves the cat more than anyone. It's like his emotional support cat and he's obsessed with it. It's his brother. Which is weird. But anyway, that's how he feels about it. Actually, it's not nothing is going on with my pet at some stuff that we've heard about and I listened to you last week and you talked about it a little bit, but dynamite, it's got a website. And my question was this is we've feed our dogs what is called nature's recipe. And we get it from PetSmart. They say that the dynamite is supposed to be really good. It gives insights and all this stuff. So does the dynamite for starters does it work? Is it true what they say because it's pretty expensive. And does it take the place? I mean, can you actually feed your dogs? Per state. Junk lower quality dog food. If you're feeding them the dynamite okay, some good questions there, Kelly. And the first thing is I'll be honest. I am not on the dynamite bandwagon. I'm a little bit concerned about any product that makes such grand claims that it's going to cure allergies and all of these type of things. So can you feed a bad food and make up for it with a supplement? No, you can not. And just like with people, if you don't eat a good balanced diet, popping those vitamins every day does not make up for that. Same thing is true for our pets. If you've got a good quality diet, I believe that that is the heart of the nutrition question here. And then there are supplements will sometimes add in. So I'm not opposed to trying a supplement for the benefit of fatty acid supplementation or maybe a pet that might have skin problems. We might look at some zinc supplements, things like that. So there may be perhaps that benefit from this, but I would definitely run away from any product that tells you that it's going to be a cure all. And that's just my honest opinion. Have I used it on my own pets? No, but I feed them a good diet and you know they get their fatty acids every day and you know I try to stay on top of their medical problems in that way. Okay, so then what you're really saying is it's the fail safe of all times is if it sounds too good it's too good. Yeah, you know, it's kind of a snake oil salesman there and like I said, there are definitely some pets that may benefit from it, but you know the cost, the expense and I just can't put my heart behind a product that really claims to cure something such as

While some states honor the birthday of this civil rights hero, others celebrate the day of her arrest. On December 1st, 1955, after a long day of work, Rosa Parks boarded a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. She sat in the colored section, but as the bus began to fill, the driver demanded that she give up her seat for other passengers. Rosa refused. She was arrested and was later found guilty of violating a city ordinance. What followed made civil rights history. Martin Luther King Jr. and others had organized the Montgomery bus boycott for the day of rose's trial. The boycott succeeded and lasted several months, devastating the transportation system in Montgomery. On Rosa Parks day, we honor the courage and heart of a woman that dared to change a nation. "My home city. Okay. Well, the things that we would definitely want to avoid is you mentioned a lot of the different meat things. Many of those we will want to avoid. The things we use in a pinch for a pet that's on a diet like SO would be eggs, we can use eggs or chicken. But we stay away from a lot of the heavier meats. And you mentioned vegetables and fruits and so there are some fruits and vegetables we can use that are appropriate along with this diet. I'll often recommend bananas, melons, green peas, cauliflower, those kind of foods would be appropriate. Some of those foods might not be a bad thing, but I would hate for you to be out on the road and rely on those food items as your main source of a diet. A large bag. The super large bag, and I'm gonna put them out. Probably about 30 pounds on the so I won't be out, but it just caught me unawares this time and one other solution that I might recommend and we use this solution for folks around us that travel is you can ask your veterinarian for either prescription card or a written prescription for that food. And if you're heading through another community. And if you have a written prescription for that food, you may very well be able to buy that at a veterinary office, but you can't just go in and say, hey, I need that SO food. Most places will say we're not comfortable selling that to you unless we knew you really need this for your pet. So that might be another little trick to try. Californians who see an animal trapped in a hot car can now without fear of being sued or breaking the law. Break a window at the animal free under a new bill that has been signed into law. Their rescuers can legally break into the car as long as there is no other way to free the animal and it appears to be in danger in the car is locked and law enforcement isn't arriving fast enough but the one thing. If you do break into the car you must stay on the scene until law enforcement arrives there but at least it's i mean that's a good passage of a law sure pommery the human animal bond research initiative. We love this group. They have announced for the very first time. They now have data to show that when we know how good pets are for us that we are more likely to take better care of the pets. In their latest survey when asked how knowledge of new scientific research on the human animal bond affected their actions. Eighty nine percent of pet owners said they were more likely to take better care of their pets. Seventy five percent said they were more likely to get that micro-chipped seventy four percent said they were less likely to give up for any reason and nearly ninety percent said they were more likely to provide their pets with higher quality nutrition now. The survey also asked pet owners about increasing support for pet ownership in society. Eighty four percent agree health and life. Insurance companies should give discounts for owning a pet eighty. Seven percent said they would be more likely to buy products from pet friendly. Businesses and eighty eight percent agreed doctors and specialists should go ahead and recommend pets to patients for healthier living a second. That all in favor. "Of the timeline allows and if the client has the budget for it, we would want to actually go and get validated user testing, either unmoderated or moderated. And then from there, we move into the visual design plan. Sometimes we in our industry, we kind of talk about what all of what we do and sometimes when I try to summarize, I say, hey, it's the right person finding the right information at the right time. You know? And in another way to think about it is who are the people? At least a user experience as it pertains to a website experience. You could say, who are the people that are coming to the website? What are they looking for? And how do we make it easier for them to find? I mean, when you think about most website experiences, especially in B2B or in a business context, there is someone who has arrived in their customer journey. And in a place of awareness, I have something that I need to do. And if you think about a user experience, you can think, okay, I'm trying to do something. So a user experiences their entire experience of doing that thing. So if I'm a marketing manager in my VP of demand generation or the CEO, comes to me and says, hey, look, we want to redesign our website. The first thing they're going to do is say , okay, let's go. And look around and see. Maybe they've been referred, maybe they have a couple of folks. They've worked with in the past, regardless. They go searching in organic search, or they go to visit websites. And it's that entire experience front back. That is the user experience. And you know, I think sometimes when you talk about user experience, it can be esoteric because you're just talking about it at a very high academic level. But if you think about that, I just want to schedule my pets grooming appointment, right? What does that look like? Okay, well, I'm going to go to pet smart. I'm going to punch in my zip code. I'm going to find a location. I'm going to buck it. What does that experience? And then what you could do from our perspective, right? You could look at that in terms of planes. So you have at the top, you have a business trying to accomplish a goal. They are trying to sell a service. So these are the objectives of the website. And then you have all the opposite side of that same coin. You have the user needs. A user is trying to accomplish something. So it kind of always starts there. And then you just move your way through greater levels of fidelity until you get all the way to the visual, the visual plane, if you will. But as you move through it, you think about, okay, well, on the side of the organizational needs, there's functionality requirements. So if you have a multi location franchise, like PetSmart, it might be, okay, we're going to need to find a store functionality. So we're going to be in considering the business to consumer. It's going to be mobile probably. So people are going to be on their phone at a soccer game. And so we're going to need to make sure that we use GPS of the mobile device in order to automap people's locations so they don't have to type in their zip code..

We're we're big into chewy and we do you anything that is personal and small-scale we do for the dogs but i wonder mat if you're not gonna get a tailwind it's a little cynical but a tailwind from the delta covert wave. We've very well. I think we've benefitted certainly last year when a lot of new darts came into the home and and those became new customers for us but when cover the ends or ended the dark sound go back. They don't go back to the shelter. Those are family members now. And so what we've seen is our most recent quarter the first calendar quarter of this year fastest growing quarter that we've had in over a very long time certainly the fastest growing quarter of kovic so we are accelerating if more dogs come into the home because of delta and personally i hope it goes the other way but if more dogs come into the home because of that we're ready to serve them and keep that acceleration going okay up when i look at the to ebitda positive that you were i say wow they can do it but now i see you want to go into a smooth which means you have to spend more money. Is there a way be able to be in growth mode and not spend as much money. Let's say two years from now. Yes the way. We approaching jim as viewpoints for growth. Right so i think about asserting food. "That's why i'll theory on the day of like let me hit the next day running where i just go. you know. Jump right back into like being healthy and and an exercising and stuff from drawing this out for like three days though because see. Here's the thing right because you're going to tell me you're gonna with he man premiered you gonna bench right because you're not going to just watch episode now. You're wrong i am. There's only releasing five episodes in the first chunk. And i am going to watch one episode a week every friday. All that's the case. Then you can with pretty much like you know when the two thousand and two version came out. I I would come from work. At that time. I worked at petsmart. I would come home from work in the apartment. That i was sharing with my then girlfriend and she she'd always be at work so i come home. It'd be five o'clock friday nights and i'd sit down with a coconut bottle and that's where my love for. It really started to grow. And i would just sit down and it was like the place myself and watch a brand new episode of he man that i thought i would never see in my lifetime and at that time i remember thinking like this is the happiest i've ever been and so with the new cartoon coming almost twenty years later. I've got to do it every friday. I'll sit down with a coconut bottle and enjoy a new episode of human. Then they release those for cartoon network so they always came out like one episode at the time. Wasn't able to pencils right right right. These ones i could. But i'm saying i'm going to do my best to relive that experience just drawing having something i watch. I watch all five easily that first day. Well then the second half of that season isn't gonna come out for months. That's so stupid. Why would you release it like that. Netflix wars. there's certain it's weird when certain streaming platforms are like like disney pluses. Gotten good with their shows of like. Now we're gonna we're gonna do one a week or whatever Oh i haven't watched any loki. So i'm glad to this out. 'cause i can beds that i haven't even watched. The soldier needs us. We we we watch them. All the kids are are into that stuff. We're gonna go see black widow on saturday. So they're digging. All that. But i would say i prefer. I prefer having things to look forward to..

It's so funny that the the excuses for why we can't re staff in so many of the companies around time and businesses around town. They seem to overlap here and you just heard Mike in the district made some good points about people making lifestyle choice isn't Choosing to live further out in the burbs and telecommuting stuff. Those aren't really the jobs we're talking we're talking about. You know, I went to a theme park. You know this this This used to be a job for teenagers, or, you know, just out of college kind of thing. Summer jobs. Um, these are minimum wage jobs, maybe a little bit more than minimum wage servers at restaurants that's usually going to be a minimum wage job, and then you live off of your tips. People are making the equipment. There's not professionals who were telecommuting and living out, you know, in in in West Virginia, all right, these are people who are making the very real dollar and cent calculation that I can make about the same if not, maybe a little bit less. By not working versus going in and actually hustling and putting in eight hours a day and and living off of my tips. It's logical. I mean, I'm not criticizing. It does make sense, doesn't it? Amber? If you can make the same amount of money by not working and let's face it, some people are working on the side. Maybe they're getting paid under the table with some other gig that they're doing. I mean, you can't really blame someone for doing that. I mean, Their economic actors. They're acting in a logical manner. It is for continuing to have these outrageous benefits well after the economy should have reopened, and frankly, I think they should have given the benefits sooner during the pandemic, when people were actually losing their jobs and struggling because of all of the shutdowns instead, they've delayed it. And now we're having This lingering economic struggle and nobody is there to speak for the business owners. And this is what really makes me mad because when the president United States has faced with a question on this, that is a very real issue right now, in our society and in our country that is affecting people's lives when his responses pay them more it is this suggestion that you're just greedy. You're sitting on your big pile of cash, you business owner and you refused to pay more to the people. If you Just opened up your tight fist and loosened up a couple of more coins. Then you get in place and it is absolutely incorrect. Business owners were hammered during the pandemic. Yeah, they're still trying to recover. You can see that. It is very very weird to go from zero to a billion in terms of athletes being able to market themselves. And make money and one general comment. And then some specifics. It's just amazing. How badly the botched this how the. Ncaa had a lot of time. And then less time and then no time to pass comprehensive name image and likeness rules. And they just didn't do it and all of these different states. We're not used to state legislatures being at all functional. And somehow they were able to do it. And all these different rules are in place. And it's a patchwork but it seems to be working for a lot of athletes and so it's just example number eight hundred seventy three of the. Ncaa's ineffectual nece and it's definitely making its strong argument for why it should not exist. But then onto the specifics. It's just really fascinating experiment in like real time. Capitalism just showing which athletes are capitalizing. How they're capitalizing. Espn had a good rundown of the different types of deals that are being made. And i think they're still trying to figure out how to sort that out down the road but i think we're sort of talking around loose and it's because it's uncomfortable but like we know that this is going to be a boon for conventionally attractive white female college athletes like they're going to be the ones that seem poised to benefit the most out of this and that's why i feel like although this is really cool and i like the idea of bowed nick selling sweet tea to people this does not make up for the fact that the nc double a. and its institutions are not paying what they owe the athletes. These rights these denial rights should have never been denied. It's a farce and it's immoral that they were denied these rights in the first place. But it still doesn't address the fundamental equity that the players that generate this hundreds of millions of dollars for these institutions are still not getting a piece of it the colleges they think of it in terms of compliance. They can throw more money at it. They can just oh. Compliance officers will help navigate. The rules will help make that up because they are part of the ncwa but they didn't cut a check. And that's what. I think people for people that see the nc double a. As a civil rights issue. That's the missing piece here. They're like we can really cool about like these companies coming in and trying to find ways to make these athletes pitchman but does it has nothing to do with these. Athletes are actually old in total. You know i think. That's an excellent point. I would probably get a tube feeder and I would probably cut if you have four purchase on there. If you have somebody could help you with this. Take two of the purchase and cut the purchase down about a quarter to 3/8 of an inch that eliminate a lot of the bigger birds but will still leave. Maybe the bottom ones for cardinals for you See? What's the most important thing is to get a bird seed that has more pick outs and less kick outs. You don't want to see that is mostly waste the $10 seeds if you will that wind up on the ground, creating a mess and causing mice. A good bird seed that has a mixture of oil, sunflower peanuts, some safflower for the cardinals of White Miller for the morning doves and redwing blackbirds, But I recommended to feeder that You can, uh, use get a good one, though, by a name company, not one of these thin plastic ones that has a plastic look for the ones with the metal tops and bottoms. Okay, And now I don't know if I haven't ace down here. I don't know the area that well yet. Don't you ever get to the side of the bridge? No. Oh, Um And yes, Okay. All aces are different. Losing money as one stock analyst said those losses are getting smaller, but still, it's reminiscent of stock values during the internet, bubble when prophets briefly didn't seem to matter. But this year all IPO's are not the same meaning investors. See something in shui that they're not seeing in other recent public offerings like Uber's which flopped back in may. So what did she do? Earn a blue ribbon. Well the company claims to be the country's largest online pet retailer. It sells all things that your four legged companions get ever need from food to pet medications to birdseed, and even grooming supplies for your horse about sixteen hundred brands sit on its virtual store shelves, since it launched its shipped one hundred million orders, a good number of those subscriptions repeat shipments that take the pain out of forgetting the lizard food at the pet store. It's also capitalizing on our trend toward acting like our furry feathers. Three and scaling companions are essentially our children smart business move since pet ownership is growing, like crazy, particularly among millennials. We lavish so much attention and money in our shit, Susan Siamese that the market for pet products has doubled since two thousand five it's now worth about seventy billion dollars a year. We even spoil our pets during downturns in that's important. The market continued to grow steadily during the great recession. This is not to say that shoe is growth could continue unconstrained where one company discovers a lucrative market, so others last month. Walmart opened an online pharmacy called pet Rx dot com, which delivers any of three hundred brands of pet meds to your door presumably its own vets are prescribing. Those beds, WalMart has twenty one veterinary clinics in it stores now and his opening another one hundred by next spring. It could be a dog fight between chewy and WalMart. There are still a lot of questions about chewy. Is it overvalued will it hold its own against a growing pack of rivals. When will it turn a profit and? Oh, yeah. Does it company? PetSmart Faces Demand For Answers After Dog Grooming Deaths Report
"Over three dozen cases of pet deaths have been reported at the country's leading pet retailer grieving dog owners want to know why they're pets died efforts.
