"Trestle at center ice to curse him over the online left wing left hit for Jack Johnson at the point. Hammered a shot, but it was blocked. And now the puck kept alive by kirsch Abbott at the left point. He spends it diagonally off the right corner boards in the as no. And it came up the boards to masset who couldn't clear it away and now finally it's taken by Myers and he'll send the puck down ice into the hawk zone, Josh Johnson took it there. Roger getting a little momentum here side on side. They're execution has been better in the abs. Just to calm down a little bit of their pace. Here's Tyler Johnson now poking the puck behind the app now to the left hunter radish sets up the high slot. Team fires and a blocker save has made by Georgia. Jack Johnson actually Eric Johnson will chase the puck down, spends it through center race and right in on hawks goaltender, Peter meraz, who knocks at Y this gives the abs to cancel the line change. It went right in on the goaltender lucky there. He got a face off in the offensive zone with a tired group of abs with the that's not the way it is right now. Austin already has the puck behind the hawk knit to Patrick Kane, who belts it up the Boris center ice abs take it back ten already steps into Josh Manson at the right point hawk's own. And some put the putt down with the corner abs get it back into the right circle fires. Blocker save made by marasa. Here's Anthony see you waving it up the left wing to Patrick Kane at center ice on the fly over the outline down the left wing. Something in uncle and kicked out of there by Giorgio nachos can got to the puck in the far circle in the Amazon and with a backhanded flip sends it through the air and all the way down. Hawks are getting some momentum on their side there. They're getting avalanche on their heels. Buddy Robinson down the right wing into the end zone drops it behind himself to Blackwell to Seth Jones right point a seeing Irish shot hit traffic in front and ricochets into the far corner and it's cleared up the boards by cogliano to center ice. Robinson took it back over the center a circle dropped it down between the circles ab zone. Makar took it there over to devonte and it had the Logan O'Connor down the left wing of the corner hot zone back to devonta left point to my car high slot long this shot missed the hawks Ned. Buck banks off the end boards. O'Connor took it on the right wing corner to convert back to the neck. Moose it to the left point devonta KO makar from the right point he'll fire. Locked in front of the hawk man. Dave's got it back high slot leaves up there. My car long shot and was able to get the blocker on that knocking it away to Seth Jones who can't clear. The chemistry between teams of the abs and the car is just incredible. It really is. A highly rated defenseman, but I still think he's underrated. I would agree with that. And I'm going to come to a point here in just a minute if we get an opportunity. We had a conversation last night you and I did with the great wing Gretzky and he talked about that Edmonton oiler team Charlie huddie playing alongside the great Paul Coffey and Charlie huddy winning 6 Stanley cups. With the Edmonton Oilers and he wasn't even drafted, but he was the perfect compliment for a guy like Paul Coffey and a good point by you because I think tays is the same way with the car. And the ass under the hot zone. McKenna down the left wing put it in the high slot to Jack Johnson. Eric Johnson, he fires and that deflects wide. Gerard's got it back, rolls into the right circle hawk zone, put it in front for lacking and he chips it wide. Lafferty along the near boards can't clear the zone, kept in by McKenna what point. Put it across the ranton and in the right wing corner. Bothered by Jack Johnson to the hawks and puck rolls free to kirsch ever clear through the air and down ice into the end zone wholesale changes by both teams. Good pressure by the outsmart played by Kershaw there, get the puck in

"The game of hockey So that suspension is gonna keep him off the ice until at least november thirtieth and during which time he's gonna be missing a quarter of the season so He he just just sounds like he did. Dumb guy doesn't really care so right so so thoughts on it. Yeah so hearing that statement do do you actually believe what he said or is he just you know. Is it just a statement. Just because they want him to release a statement. Yeah i mean he's he's he's made three apologies. Just this quarter so no in the interesting part of that particular statement for me. Is i plan to return to the ice in in. Here's what i'm thinking is like if you're san jose or you or your player for the san jose sharks. Do you really want him coming back. Probably not i wouldn't. I wouldn't want him coming back at all if it if it was me i would. He he needs to go away and stay away because apparently it sounds like the team is happier and better off without him even though he was the sharks leading goal score point getter last season. So i don't know the the whole evanger came protocol thing in saga continues and it doesn't seem to have an end in sight because he's still got the gambling debts that he's still working through his his still filed for bankruptcy. He's still were divorce with his wife. there's just so much that's out publicly in. Maybe it's just weird to see because you don't really see this very much but the whole thing is just odd and weird to see. That's another thing that makes the chill better than other sports leagues in my opinion because the players have more respect for themselves and for the job that they're doing than other sports leagues do so. We don't need an advocate in the nhl. And i hope he disappears. The thing is he's a great player he is. He's very good at what he does. You have other great players. We don't need vander king from from the nhl perspective. I would agree with that. There's other players. They can take his spot but again. If you're san jose i would just say go away. We don't want you in. You know we'll pay your contract out but we don't want you playing forest. Just go away and take care of yourself. Did you need to so anyways I'll leave that to that anyways Interesting story coming out of toronto k. So peter meraz ick who is technically the backup to jack campbell. Up in toronto. He gets hurt right will. They can't call up. Michael hutchinson because of all these cap constraints and stuff like that. So what does the g. The gm of toronto kyle dubious do what does he do. He goes in signs a university of toronto goalie to an amateur. Try tryout for one game as the emergency backup. These are the kinds of. Yeah that's true. Yeah but those are the things that i guess. We'll see more often with the whole cap. Constraint thing yeah. I know you put this in there to be as kind of short little topic but.

"We'll see if the flames can do that next year. After them is the carolina hurricanes who also had a fascinating summer they let dougie hamilton. Who was a great offense defense. Been probably number one phrase on the market a walk in then. They swapped out both of their goalies. vich was third in the calder voting last year. End peter meraz a for freddie interesting kind of up and down in toronto in 'anti-russia who's a goalie. Who's a very good when he's healthy. He's just not healthy. That often This is a lot of changes for goaltending. Tandem owes pretty good last year. Finished third in team save percentage. A not something. You see often from a team that should be competing for a stanley cup. So what do you think of the goaltending bed. The hurricanes are making next year. Dave ramirez just an assumption on my part. But i read a lot into this There's been a lot of criticism criticism even going back to like the sebastian auto auto offer sheet. That mont shami said that carolina wasn't willing to spend money they were essentially a cheap organization. i kind of feel like this reflects a lot of that. It just doesn't feel like they were willing to make a commitment to dhaka vich. They weren't willing to pay him the three million. That detroit was You know free. Anderson is in a decent regular season goaltender but unproven in the playoffs and just feels like for a team. That's dot close that they could have been really aggressive on the goaltending market. An weren't in. It just sort of feels like they weren't willing to open up the pocket book in. That's why they ended up where they ended up in. You know we'll see. Maybe maybe anderson is good enough. But i in my opinion. He's not the. I have definite question marks about the direction they chose a next up in chicago. We've talked about them quite a bit. Because they of course landed. Marc andre fleury but in addition to him they added defenseman. Seth jones center tyler johnson. A plus they might get center. Jonathan taste back after health issues forced him to miss last year. This was a team that was twentieth in points percentage last season but did they improve enough to potentially crack the playoffs in a difficult central division. Dave i mean i gotta go back through. Remember who's in the central division to be quite honest..

"Our you store in andrea basil housekeeper. Better what is what does csi to a. Yeah i mean just for. I'm assuming our audience knows clear side analytics. Get a look under the hood. Thanks to stephen valiquette in his company and they're not quite as as big as that. Obviously the nine thirty two. I think. I think everybody generally accepts that. That's a pretty goalie friendly environment. Yan carolina the nine thirty two grades out as the best in their nine thirty one best in the nhl when you adjust it for the shaquoti he faced. He's like he's still positive significant positive. He's plus one percent but that sort that amongst the league in its eighteenth. matter of fact. It's just ahead of jonathan. Bernier was plus point nine behind a much worst events team and when you look at expected. Save percentage for ned in carolina. It was nine six. Which is one of the highest totals are the highest sort of the easiest environment. Roughly speaking among sending two hundred shots. Now the interesting thing to me there is behind the same team. Peter meraz expected save percentage was almost thirty points lower. And this is this is sort of a conversation. We can spin off this later. We've seen this before we saw it was hysterical and lundquist. We saw last year with tristan. Jari having a really high expected and matt marine having a much lower one again behind the same team. Start scratching your head like. Why is this guy's environment so much easier than playing partner. It's the same team right. And sometimes that can be matchups. What teams what starts. You're getting especially the backup. Maybe getting some easier or sometimes harder starts on back to back nights. You know there are a lot of different factors thing but sometimes somebody's hurt tougher part of the schedule. Somebody's hurt in front of you in the defenses whereas like all these things can play into it. But the one factor that i think amongst those names that i just mentioned is the ability to sort of handle the puck and moves the puck like lundquist. Never got out of his net. Share can handle it like defenseman. Pierre maroshek doesn't really do much other than stop it and even sometimes doesn't do that right. Ed can handle it similar with jari. Murray totally different goals. So i do think that's one thing as we look at defensive environments i think goaltenders ability to handle and move the puck. And i'm not talking. Homerun breakout passes. They make the highlight tape. Just set it up and put his defenseman clean little overs clean little ups to get them out of their own and quicker can make their own life that much easier so as much as like ned fault that he had a really high expected. Saber centers. in fact that's what he was dealt but in fact some of his skills with the puck may have helped create an easier environment for him. So listen it's at the same time. Jonathan bernier is right there with them. But it's apples to oranges like he..

"Rask has been pitiful. They're the ones that the one thing. Adamant it again and again not fighting with you on the analytics think but you look at numbers in all year. Long they're this. They're that this. That and the islanders are a counterpunch team. If you want this series. I my jaw dropped. They did it in games. One and two on the road and actually for the most part. It's sustained itself. The islanders are going for it. I mean this is an island team. Offensively challenge during the regular season. Palmeri didn't do much of anything when they brought him over. Zajac now paul. Mary's chipping in with big goals. The islanders and trotz is brilliant because in this series boston's like doing a double take. The islanders have opened up. The islanders are going for because they know they're offensively challenged and they know they're going against good goalie. They're like we're gonna the they've completely changed their style in this series against. They're like they're looking at themselves in the mirror. Plan a lot of times boston. How they get all these points are so top heavy. It's one line. But if i'm not saying you throw the analytics out completely but what you've seen in the six game so far. This is not the way. The islanders played hockey all your long. In this particular matchup stylistically they completely thrown thrown the sink out. They've opened it up to generate goals and they're willing to play a back and forth game with the bruins saying we have four lines that we think are capable of scoring. You have one line and it's working. Well let's go to a couple of the games tonight here and we got an early one between tampa bay and carolina. Tampa bay has carolina on the brink of elimination. Lightning lead the series. Three two one one game four six two four not a lot of expected goals at five on five based on the numbers in that game but we had seven of them so not a great evening goaltending in game four will see if both guys are able to bounce back here in game five tonight but ryan overall. It's been a fairly even series when we've got three one bowl games tampa bay one two to one in both games in raleigh carolina wins three to to get back in the series then the six to four in game four. Now we're back in raleigh for game five tonight. Tampa bay a small road favourite to finish out the series. What are you thinking about what we're seeing. Not only for tonight. But we've seen from the series as a whole you tip your hat to tampa bay's what you do. I think my pigs before the year if there were conferences and there aren't but of the teams in the easter teams in the west north carolina. Colorado were my picks. And i i think carolina's capable of winning the cup. Their thing is could they get by these guys in tampa bay's kind of had their number for a long time you look at this series and they're all one goal games you're right there except the last game tampa went six four but in that game carolina had him on the ropes and let them off the hook. So how carolina reacts to spit in the bid in that game is going to be telltale here. They're gonna have the raucous crowd behind them. I think they're a very good team. Rod brind'amour's a terrific coach. There's a big part of me. Says they circle the wagons and at least defended home. Here enforce this to a six game and make it interesting. But you had three games in rhode going under the total before this last game but elimination games tend to me. You know get squirrelly. I mean game sevens maybe a played really tight and close to the vest but once you're in the middle of a series you get elimination game. You know you can get a couple empty net goals. We've seen that a couple of times in the past week. Couple empty net goals. Get you a games. A dead under gets into a push got a slight lean to the fact that their goals in this game so go over the five and a half wanna step up with carolina but you know tampa bay me. Know on top of the skill set. They have their nasty. I mean they are not. They're not a fun team to play against I'm gonna lean towards goals. I really wanna swing with carolina a little bit. But i think the overs the safer play in the game tonight. Yeah i mean like we talked about coming into the playoffs. I mean it's it's absurd. Just all the sudden you get to the playoffs and you add nikita kucherov and steven stamkos to your team. I mean it's it's insanity that you can head to players of that caliber and the funny thing is in this series. Neither one's been all that dynamic. Neither one's been all that great. The depth guys for tampa bay anthony's torelli like blake coleman like andrei pilot that have actually created a lot of really quality scoring chances for them carolina. There guys just really haven't played particularly well in this series. What about the goaltending situation for carolina. Here i mean it okay. Which was kind of this guy down. The stretch played throughout that. First round. Series against nashville. Peter meraz it. Gets the last two games and it was very good in game. Three pretty bad in game four What are you kind of look for out of carolina tonight in that regard. Well that's their flaw. The goaltending was the question. Mark with these guys dougie. Hamilton can produce offense from the blue line but he he gets a little rambunctious and causes problems. Going the other way the thing. I would say after this ends something to watch for. I think it's going to be a soap opera. The owner and carolina is done his kind of an aggressive kind of wacky at times and brindamour is phenomenal coach. And they're sitting. There wanted to get an extension for him and brindamour said to him. I'm not signing a contract until you sign my assistant coaches the training staff the medical staff. That the whole kit and caboodle. Then you talk to me and this things it's been spiraling and yeah they got a series to deal with but if this is not win carolina's eliminated..

"Blackhawks radio network. Here's Chris Boat will take you up until 9 30 tonight after this dramatic to one overtime victory. What I say in the pregame one more for the road? Well, yeah, the Blackhawks Able to get it as they wrap up their road schedule here tonight before returning home for the final two home games of the regular season before fans as well that makes the ride home all the more sweeter. Then we'll take you up until nine o'clock. 9 30. I should say Riley Stillman has been meeting the media for a couple of minutes. We want to bring you that in its entirety. So once he wraps up, we'll bring you Riley Stillman at some point through the postgame show, but lots of stuff to talk about here and in this last game on the road, another couple of first year Troy As Alec A Gula here, kid. The minutes muncher, the the leader, the North Trophy winner, the multiple Cup winner. He goes out the first period. Have yourself a game. Riley Stillman, you know, wriggling his first NHL game. Riley Stillman, his first NHL goal. 54 games in 55 games in and again many contributors here and overcoming a whole lot to not to not to diminish your your choice for your player of the game as well. Well, he factored in. He was the primary assist on that. You had a pause for a moment on where to start there. Well, you know you're just criticizing me, but that's fine on my pick. Kyle. Arguably, I loaded a lot on your plate there, but Who believe had a strong game, and that's what he had four shots. He was dangerous. He had another four shots. A couple of block couple messy was always around the park in the offensive zone. So good job by him and for Alex to break it. My goodness, what a season he has had and what? What a player he has turned into after a tough year last year, but Really when you look at it is all around game came to up to a point where you know he was focusing on the other stuff rather than scoring goals, and I think it's really helped in this year now that he's found a scoring touch in What if you get off to a good start, and all of a sudden thing starts going the back of the net, you find that confidence again And since the beginning of February, there's only one guy in the NHL that has mortgage rolls than Alex to break it. And that's the guy who was leading the league and Austin Matthew. So He has been playing extremely good. And what a great young man and what a leader he has turned into a swell and then you look at that you mentioned all the other guys Short staffed with Duncan Keith, you only played six shifts in this game. He got al Akhras arugula coming in, and he played over 14 minutes. Now you look at Cal not playing 23 minutes. Connor Murphy 26 plus minutes in this game, Biggs adore off that 26 Plus is well, eight hits in this one. So there was a gutsy effort by these guys to keep battling in this game and hang with the team that is playing as good as any team in the NHL. Well, perhaps most importantly, I may may have blown the lead on this because that you and John About midway through that third period managed to put the whammy put the whammy on Peter Meraz IQ. So we're trying our best. I think that's exactly what happened there. As you know, I got a live chicken on. Ah, New Serie That's underneath the fire. We still been heard you so But what a thrill for that kid is as we Ah, wait to hear from him here. In the Black Hawks postgame show We had my Blackhawks live last night. We kind of reflected on the fact that the Cory spent the his dead. Corey spent the chunk there and one cup in Carolina just a couple of years after he won a Stanley Cup in Tampa Bay and for him to do this in rally, where he spent some of his youth growing up and where his dad enjoyed one of his glorious moments. The good vibes and rally continue for Riley. I guess. Yeah, it's funny. On the Hurricanes broadcast, they showed a picture of his dad holding Riley in a Stanley Cup celebration picture They must have had the families on the ice and little Riley was in the picture. He wouldn't really recognize him now. But what a moment for Riley Stillman 54 games You could tell by the celebration. Unfortunately for us, you know, we just really couldn't see what was going on. And then they panned off to a different area there, so you couldn't get a look at who scored the goal. We had to try and figure it out. But you knew it was a special one because of the way that he was celebrating and good for him. He's a great young man, and I think that to stand moment an excellent job and recognizing that rate away and play in the game the right way he skates well, He's a physical player. You know, he makes the mistake's but it's certainly not because of lack of effort. That's exactly what you're looking for back there. Some guys that can play the game with passion. Well, you know, you have a 53 game goal drought. You go to where where you have to go in order to break that kind of driving went exactly exactly what all the fence meets. I don't know why people don't do that. Except that Is the defenseman, and that's why I live. Why a little bit confusing what he was standing in front of the net, but good for him and boy. I mean, you know, exciting for the Blackhawks. They know that they're out of the playoffs, but to come in here battle back against the team that is really tough,.

"To the call. Tonight's game with Troy and John Black Hawks and the Carolina Hurricanes. The top this top performer from the Hawks last game last night was Nikita's. The Door off was a plus to add the three hits and three block shots. The top This top performer is sponsored by Marconi Giardiniera. Put it on top of everything, because Marconi makes it better and who my banking out is sponsored by Marquette Bank. Love your bank. Wake up to a better way to bank with market bank and fun rewards, And I'm gonna go with Dominic Kubelik. Tonight. He has performed well statistically against Carolina this season, added a couple of more helpers. In last night's contest, so I'm going to go with the Dominator. The modern age down mayor for the guy I am baking on it tonight and tonight's goalie matchup is sponsored by low voltage solutions, your full service telecommunications contractor. And we discussed earlier. The pregame show that Colin Delia will get his third start of the season in his fourth appearance, of course, coming out in relief last night midway through that contest and stopping all 19 shots that he faced so Delia In the blue paint for the Blackhawks night, and they returned to the blue paint for Peter for Carolina's Peter Meraz IQ. I think he is the guy that Rod Brind'Amour would like to ride in the post season, but he has had A limited season so far due to a couple of injuries. He has not played since April, 19th that after coming back after a long stretch with a broken bone in his hand But he has impressed when he has played this season 51 into a buck 60 goals against average, with a 9 39 save percentage for his career against the Blackhawks. Meraz IQ is 32 and one with a pair of shut outs, a 2.36 goals against average any 9 26. Say, percentage You heard on John segment with Jeremy there behind the bench. After was record a little bit earlier day, John still unsure of what some of those line of questions were, and as we said at the top of the pre game show Kirby. Doc is out tonight. He will not play due to a scar tissue build up in his surgically repaired wrist. So Doc's it's out, and Mackenzie and Whistle who made his NHL debut earlier this season will draw back in. He was just brought up from the Rockford Icehogs under the taxi squad, then activated here tonight and one other lineup change that has been revealed it out of following war upside. Riley Stillman, who sat out last night. Well, Nicholas Bohdan rotated back in their flip flopping positions here tonight, Stillman out and Bohdan and and a fan's air.

"Had to work a little bit harder. But in there thinking, you know what you know, Sometimes you get a little satisfied, and I know it sounds crazy when you got three games on your belt, but I think that's what's it and they got away from that. Really, uh, hard, defensive plus style of play, they way wide open. There's too many people wide open a lot of backdoor place, which they were really cutting down in. I think to just you know they had a couple days to practice and I think that just gets him back focusing on what they have to do to win because of Tuesday's postponement. This is one of the rare instances this year. In which the lighting you're going to play a team once of the Nazi them immediately again. Maybe one of their instance I think maybe one of the rescheduled James. They got moved is in a similar situation. But For the lightning. They happen to be catching this Carolina team. Carolina's not a lot of players still on the protocol list, so they have had to bring up players from the taxi squad. What do you make of that dynamic like these players have not played in game action since last season. On the other hand, a lot of them are getting an opportunity here, and Stephen Lawrence is making his NHL debut. Well, you know what that energy level's gonna be President that you know, it's really gonna be high. I mean, how well the skill level is gonna match up with the guys that are out, Probably not or else. They've been here a lot sooner, but that's the thing is that No, I haven't told captain of mine and I played a lot of years with Bobby Clarke said. You know, hard work could be channeled every time. But when you have hard working talent, it's very hard to beat. So that's the one thing the lightning have to read it right off the bat. You can bet Carolina's come right after that. They're gonna really try and set the tone and the lightning gonna have to be able to match it. Which I'm sure they will. Because this is the team. As you pointed out, Mr. They've been pretty good. Coming back after losses. They just have to go back in the memory bank and say OK, this is it. We gotta we gotta go and pay attention to the O details. You have a tendency to get a little bit fancy. And I think the assertive stages here, you know, teams the offense has gonna take time to catch up to where the defense is gonna take time to catch up to the offense. It's a lot easier to do the office because that's a natural thing. You like to do it. You know it's more fun. Defense is a little bit more hard work a little bit more determination, and that's what has to be built tonight. Starters in that vast Celeski for the Lightning. Peter Meraz IQ for Carolina vast loss given it to our left in the first lightning skate left to right on the road, whites with blue numbers, Meraz IQ and the goal to our right. James Great to let they're wearing their third jerseys. Black with White numbers. Referees tonight or Gord Dwyer and John McKay, Isaac. The line's been a Ryan Givens and James Tobias opening face off next lightning and Hurricanes..
