"Have both battled injuries in recent years. And so we'll see. But i i didn't really have the agonize. I think on paper today if washington plays dallas washington's. Got a heck of a chance to win the game but you know if dak prescott stays upright. I liked dallas. Okay so you're you're pick to make it through for the nfc. The rams and i'm a little bit predictable here. Peter with my pick if think back to what i said about the. Afc went with cleveland. I kind of follow the same template with okay. I'm not gonna pick the buccaneers because it's easy. It's hard to find anything wrong with them so let. Let's let's go a little bit different route. And i thought okay. What quarterback do i like the most who seems to have a wonderful relationship. Playcalling standpoint with his head coach or play caller. Whose defense do i think is wasn't a huge problem last year but looks like it's quite a bit better this year and checking the box with all of those for me the green bay packers and i i know david. Tr he's not there and how valuable he is that team but he'll be back eventually banned he'll be back exactly and they have the benefit of play in the nfc north which they ought to be able to figure things out before he gets back and stayed with their heads above water and get to the point where he is he has returned and they're playing their best so i like green bay to make it all the way to la in the super bowl. I think it's a really good in logical pick and keep this in mind k. Wherever the green bay packers have put elton jenkins since drafting and what three years ago. He's done nothing but be a stunned. He's been great all over that line. And i'll tell you when i went to green bay. I'll just tell you this right now. Matlin flurries is not worried about left. Tackle it's not. He's not being cocky. Just not worried. He thinks elton jenkins is gonna play well out there and he'll play until bark the comes back. I'll tell you this you name any contender right now. Who's going to be without their left tackle for the first six or eight weeks and you just tell me one of them. Who can plug in. A guy is good as elton jenkins in that spot and there isn't one there isn't one. If the rams lose andrew whitworth thirty nine year old andrew whitworth they gonna play joe note boom out there and joe. Boom is a nice You don't swing tackle. Bees not a great wire so anyway i think you're okay. Look my super bowl pick. I'm picking the rams over buffalo high scoring game and it'll be the second year in a row or a team has won the super bowl on their home field after the first fifty four times that there ever was a super bowl. It never happened. So that's my pig my father the stats. Professors rolled over in his grave. Peter who calling unlikely while smiling at the same time. I'm sure i like. I like the air. Rogers lead packers to go past the baker mayfield. Less brown's in our baker mayfield lead that going to be without and they'll be with him in la okay so that there's a super bowl picks i know. You wanna get to some mvp picks. There's no lie team but we don't want to leave out the individuals here either. So who do you have getting. Alan look i pick my top three for. Mvp is one. Matthew stafford to josh allen three. Tom brady In my opinion. I think stafford if he stays healthy In his receivers stay healthy. He's got a chance to have the first six thousand yard passing season. Nfl history now. Obviously that'll be helped by the fact that they're seventeen games. But i just think that the chemistry between coach and quarterback is really gonna help that. Gimme year's mvp. I liked tom. Brady just over derrick henry and sometimes you have to talk myself into not going just all quarterback all these things theater so i. I looked outside of cuba. Who i like. And i think tannahill will be really good again. I think they'll win a lot. But if it's possible to lean on the ground game even a little more is figure things out without arthur smith. I can see them going that route. So either guy makes sense to me but i go brady over derrick henry the hard thing when you're trying to pick someone other than most other than a quarterback most valuable player is that the last time i mean there's only been one time since two thousand six that are running back has won. Mvp really yes. So so ladainian tomlinson one and in two thousand six since then so only happened one time in fourteen years and that one time was adrian peterson at twenty twelve. And just keep this one thing in mind remember adrian. Peterson was coming off a tornado. Ceo and other knee damage. Okay and peyton. Manning had a great not a good year a great ear. But excuse me remember. That was the year coming off that serious injury. That adrian peterson for two thousand ninety six yards and it was still a kind of split. Manning got some votes. But that's how hard it is for a non quarterback to win the mvp. So we'll see a great points. And i think it'd be because of how much they're leaning on the passing game now. I did mention him. I could see devante atoms if it's not a quarterback somebody like a receiver who goes crazy for a team. That is the one or two almost more likely for them to be in contention for the mvp as opposed to running back anymore. Let me just run down with a sentence. Each key picks Defensive player of the year i got. T. j. watt over aaron donald I think tj watt really thought. He should have won it last year. He's played great for three years for the steelers. Finally this year is i wrote. He leaves no doubt offensive. and defensive. rookies got. Kyle pits the tight. End with the falcons. Who i think is going to have a monster year and mike parsons. The linebacker with the cowboys. Who i think is going to play. The kind of sideline to sideline game that is going to Make him people are gonna look at the cowboys being instead of the thirtieth best defense whatever they were last year maybe the eighteenth best and the biggest reason is the addition of mike. Parsons my coach of the year. Is sean mcdermott. I think leading the bills to home field in a in a a very very tight race with the chiefs of i think wins him as the coach of the comeback player. I'm picking derwin. James guys played five games last two years after being all pro as a rookie. So i think he. I think he's. I think he had two semi fluky injuries..

"That's the afc where you like the bills. I like the browns. Let's go to the nfc now and just like you did with the afc start with your number one seed in kind of walk us down all the way to number seven the seventeenth. Do you think you're gonna make it. Okay well number one tampa bay. I think they're going to win home. Field in the nfc. They'll take advantage of the fact that basically you've got all three teams in the south every little bit down right now including the saints. Now the saints may not be down And i've got to make the playoffs but they're not what they were So you've got that. And the fact that i think tom brady who always always used The third down back kevin. Fog james white Were so important to what they did is an offense in new england now in my opinion one of the things that he really wanted this off season and he he didn't want he didn't wanna go beg for paul. He didn't want say. Because obviously you sound just a little bit greedy. If you'll say pardon me for. I just screwed up my laptop and pardon me for you. Know in essence saying that You know brady wanted to be really wanted. Another piece of the puzzle on offense but he wanted a third down. Back in. Bruce arians jason light got him one geo bernard of the bengals and they got him for one point. Two million dollars. I think that is a great acquisition for tampa bay number two. I've got green bay a little bit. Not because i think green bay is better than the rams but because i think green bay has much easier road through the nfc north to win that division as an potentially could go six no in the division and. I don't think there's any way the rams are going six in the nfc west. So i like green bay number two i. Aaron rodgers comes in quite as a church mouse off the field He's not going to be able to stop speculation about the future. He won't add to it rams number three. We've talked about it. i just love the matthew stafford combination. When with sean mcveigh number four dallas. This was probably the toughest division pick that i had. Because in my opinion i th i think washington has got a premier defense and has got a deep defense so washington easily could win this division but i think dallas is going to be explosive and fifteen percent better on defense this year than they were last year. So they're gonna have to win a lot of high scoring games. What i think you're going to win enough of them to be the fourth seed in the nfc five six seven. I've got san francisco which it will not surprise me one bit. If san francisco goes far deep into the playoffs. Whether it be jimmy garoppolo or trey lance. They had freaky fluky injuries last year. Early and often That almost ruined their defense and yet they still played really well defensively. So i think san francisco gets in is number five new orleans six. Look we'll see how jameis winston place this is probably more vote for their defense than for their offense. Thank your defense is a rough tough defense. And he's gonna play very very well. Seven seattle all. I know is that russell wilson. Anytime he takes the field. I don't care what the odds are. He's got an excellent chance to win the game and they made the playoffs. What seven of his nine years as a starter and I just i think any year any year seattle can come out of nowhere and really play. Well they have not played well recently in the playoffs. I don't think they're gonna play great this year in the playoffs. Either because of their seven seed. Imagine your road if you've got a win. Let's say in order a green bay tampa bay of the rams you know. How are you going to do that in a span of fifteen days. I doubt you can. But be that as it may they. They they they're always ability and and And i like anyway. I like the rams to go on the road. The playoffs twice to lambo and To raymond james stadium to beat the packers and the bucks The second one of those in a narrow nfc championship game victory So i like the rams to be tampa In the nfc. So we have the rams against the bills in the peter king super bowl Backing up now to your seven. Who made it. Peter in the nfc into the postseason so much different than the afc. Because to me is so much stronger you can pick any one of four five teams and make an argument that they'll be in the super bowl. You could also pick out so many teams that didn't make it and then we talked about the colts. The dolphins the steelers not in they all have a legitimate case to think their playoff seems who who almost made it in the nfc washington's. They're a little bit. But are there some teams that you really had a hard time leading out. Besides washington washington was the toughest one. But i didn't really agonize over anybody else in the nfc. I think chicago You know the offenses just gonna be okay. I think they'll struggle at some point. Turn it over to justin fields arizona. Arizona can get hot. And but you know i don't. I'm not if you rely on the cardinals to win. You have to rely on some defensive players like chandler jones and j. j. watt who are.

"General manager of the dolphins say. We'd rather have somebody we can rely on. Who's going to be around right exactly peter. I've been doing this Not as long as you have been at either. Nfl network or nbc the last seventeen nfl seasons. And i've worked with a lot of coaches ones who are current ones who counted as ex-coach's a of different personalities. A lot of used on the game and why they won or lost the one thing they all had in common. If you got him talking on camera off camera but what matter. The most repairs reliability. Is that person going to be there on sunday no matter what their scheme was no matter how old they were. That was the one thing they all had in common. And so need this kind of falls into that category. How long are they going to put up with that when the reliability is called into question. Yeah it's a great great question. Let's let's move picks now paul. I'll i'll just tell you a little bit about mind let's start with the afc mccain. And i'll just read mine down. And then i'd love to hear give you a thought or two on every team that i picked okay And then i'll tell you who. I have coming out of the afc. My seeds in order number one buffalo. I think it's josh allens time. He made a big step last year. And now this year. Now that he's got even another year of chemistry with defined digs in cole beasley and in my opinion. They've got an excellent bench of wide receiver. So you can't rely on your wide receivers your starters to necessarily play seventeen games. I love their depth that receiver. Gabriel davis underrated. Guy jake. coomer. Aaron rodgers pow underrated guy. I think buffalo is going to be pretty good now. All this is going to depend. Because i think they're going to score points. They've drafted three pass. Rushers in the top. Two rounds of the last two drafts. One of those guys at least has got to become a presence in the pass rush. I've gambling that. That will happen number two. We kansas city. Kansas city's offensive line which of the general manager bread beach told. Patrick mahomes ten minutes after the end of that embarrassing super bowl performance by that offensive line. They have remade the line. Five new starters veto said to mahomes. I am going to get this line fixed. He's fixed it now. They have to hope that three guys who never played a snap in the nfl creed humphry at center a rookie. Trey smith six round rookie at right guard and lucas. Neang at right tackle. they've never played a snap. Last year's third round pick opted out last year because of kovin. All three of those guys have never played the snap in the nfl. That is huge and that you know they. They got to be able to hit the ground running. I like them as the second seed may have some growing pains headline number three. I like tennessee is the third seed. I don't think tennessee is the third best team in the division but they will have the easiest division schedule with jacksonville and houston in that division. That's the softest division of the afc south some counting on tennessee padding the record a little bit and going forward now against those two teams. I got cleveland number for finally going to the top of the in the afc north. I got new england number five and this is not a pick saying. I think matt jones is gonna be great. This is a pick saying. I think the patriots are going to have a top three defense in the nfl. I think that their front seven has been so terrific during training camp and when bill bill check really cut him loose against the new york giants in that last pre season game. I mean the giants look like a high school team on you know on that front. I think that new england is not going to have to have this really explosive offense. Because i think their defense is going to hold teams to nineteen twenty twenty one points number six. I got the chargers if all goes well with the chargers. Derwin james Joey bosa can stay healthy. That is not a big if it's gigantic. If but if those two guys stay healthy and and just in. Herbert does to. This team could challenge kansas city for the afc west and finally got baltimore number seven. I like the ravens but man. Have they been devastated by injury in training camp. And i don't just mean jk dobbins either the running back. They're wide receivers. It seems like there's something wrong with every one of them so and they've got a really tough opening game. They have to go to vegas on monday night and they have to play a team in the first pro football game in front of a crowd in the history of the state of nevada. I know that sounds a little weird gimmicky. And all that. But i do think and i'll tell you one other thing paul about that stadium i remember. I toured it A couple of years ago. And when i toured that stadium The contractor the whatever the form and some somebody gave me a tour and basically said this is being designed for maximum acoustic cape volume at You know during games. So i'll tell you. Lamar jackson is going to have a lot of silence. Snap count on monday night in vegas. Anyway those are my picks. I ended up picking buffalo over kansas city. One over to In the afc championship game at orchard. Park new york ended up going with the bills to make it to the super bowl. Yes yeah yeah okay. It's a as. I was doing this drill for not only to have a conversation with you peter but i did the same thing with chris simms for unbutton this morning at i started out thinking okay. I'm not taking the buccaneers. i'm not taking the chiefs. Seems are so good. It would be so easy to go chok. I'm wondering if you started out with the same thinking that you know. I i'm going to go against the chiefs in the buccaneers just because it would be a little bit more fun and interesting to find other teams besides those two. That was part of the drill for me. It was easier in the afc. Because i think that josh allen is really going to be great and he's already. I mean amazingly became a sixty nine percent passer last year. He'll be more familiar with a deeper receiving core this year than he was last year. I just really liked buffalo. And it's not that. I don't like kansas city. But your your your point i can't sit here and say oh. Years where tampa bay is weak week anywhere and they got great depth. So my thing about You know the way i picked it. Is i normally don't like to pick teams repeating and honestly i i usually don't and this year i really didn't want to because it is so incredibly obvious that that Tampa bay with everybody back You know looks like they've got a great chance to repeat. I just didn't want to do it. I and i. I liked what i what i see. And in matthew stafford sean mcvay teaming up we'll get to the nbc idea nbc. The nfc here. Just a minute out. More in the afc. Though and as i was looking at these lists theater i gave it. It surprises me. And how much ause. I had in the afc with buffalo in new england. I like buffalo lot zoo. But i almost put the patriots ahead in the afc east over buffalo. I'm wondering if you ran into the same thought at all as you were doing this..

Who Will Pick Kyle Pitts in Thursday's NFL Draft?

"All right. Let's have fun here with. Kyle pits blank will select kyle pits right. I think it's the falcons. I mean friscos. Been talking about this for some time. He doesn't think that the falcons are gonna take a quarterback he thinks arthur blank is all in on on matt ryan for another year to have a new coach and the new general manager. And here's the thing like if you trade down four. And i suspect it'll be teams interested in trading up to four to get whether it's trae lance macaroni justin fields. If you're the falcons if you move down if you move down you're not getting cockpits. That's just the end the conversation because either the bengals. The dolphins entertainment five or six and presumably. You're not trading with those teams already have quarterbacks. So that's the math you're doing and if you're not getting likely to march as we saw a report on monday for peter king that maybe julio jones could be moved with which seems crazy what they need a cap space Could you turn down for. Cornerback if the falcons you could but again what gives you more value in terms of making that football team better. I think it's how pet. So if i'm the falcons and i'm not taking justin feels matteo's trae lands i'm sampling. Taking cup pits. Janssen the blank blank. We'll take pets. I think it's it's atlanta. But i also be surprised if the team traded up with the falcons maybe even take pits like ryan saying you know the train up to the quarterback but you know teams fall in love your dallas. You know thousand the four but you know if a team really loves him that much and it's hard not to love that much than you could see. Maybe a team being overly aggressive. I think it was on On the nfl network this morning on good morning football there was a segment that they do with the giants traded up. You know. I don't know who is doing the job. Esau just a screen grab of it on twitter but the giants gave their first or second ebony ingram and something else to move up to four to get pits and it was you know something that on paper make some sense but you know. Obviously something is not likely to happen but still i would say it's four is where he goes. But the falcons do make some sense especially they decided we want from me jonesing. Another playmaker

Patriots Knocked Out of Playoff Race for First Time Since 2008

"Patriots who i said would not make the playoffs are not making the playoffs here. Is bill belichick with this loss. You guys were eliminated from playoff contention first time since a wave. Just wondering your reaction to that does that. We win deserve to win tonight. So yeah pretty much. So and i started look at cam. Newton's numbers. Because if i'm new england do i play jarrett stidham the last two games. Do i want to see what i have do. They know what they have do. I just ride this out. And have cam newton as my starting quarterback in his last seventeen starts so this goes back two years cam. Newton has thrown. in seventeen games. Five touchdown passes twelve interceptions. He is had almost five hundred throws over those seventeen games. Peter king points out in his column today. Aaron rodgers has had four hundred seventy seven pass attempts through the same time period. He's thrown forty touchdowns cams thrown five. And i know coming back from arthroscopic surgery on his rotator cuff and for those of us who've had rotator cuff surgery just coming back for a normal life. Not trying to fit a football into a small window is really difficult. And i don't think cam has come all the way back from kovin that but cam. We're not going to see cam twenty fifteen. Never gonna come close to. That can still be a quarterback who starts in the nfl. Is he a quarterback who is going to be a backup quarterback. And i think that's going to be the next step to decide what happens with the patriots. What direction they go in to the go after quarterback do they keep cam. Do give him more. NFL Playoff Futures: Who will make the 2020 post-season?

"Wanted to talk about playoff odds and not not. Just who's gonna make the playoffs but also the nfc the nfc's a really weird place. The saints are plus three fifty to win this to in the nfc. None of us like the saints even are as good as they looked last week against tampa. There's still this unease with because breezes arm strength. It just makes me nervous. I'm starting to talk myself into the saints. Okay yeah okay so a couple of things number one. Smart people in july and august said wait until brady gets half a season under his belt and they're going to get better you know. No one cares. More about the details. And tom brady doesn't have a training. Camp does not as doesn't put pads on till till august fifteenth. He's gonna get better and better and better and so week one when when the bucks and the saints played. I threw that out. I said this this doesn't matter bracing to get better and better better. This was the closing the gap game for me. And then i didn't see that and obviously they were there whipped everywhere you know. Ali maher pet being out was a big thing with with with with people who started the game. But i think that this was bigger than than alley marquette quite frankly okay The the saints were able to get a four man rush the entire game. Are they able to pressure brady on half of his dropbacks when they had a four man rush. That's really good Since marcus davenport's come back in week five had the most pressures in football pressuring and football There's just something there. The problem at the beginning of the year was that lattimore and marcus williams were bad and those are two pretty good players and i think that you know a good pass rush. Ken console that those guys can get better and so with with brees. Listen there are. There are problems with the fact. You can't throw down the field. The offensive line is not as good as it has been in years hospice and matter with brees because he gets rid of the ball and a second. It's like peyton manning he doesn't need you know the the the best offensive line in the world and then lattimore who we were kind of dunking on because at one point he was giving almost a perfect passer rating. He owns mike evans. He own them. He is not given up a reception. Mike evans the last three games. They've played and so when if those guys play in the playoffs again. There's that match up. So i i don't. I'm feeling better about the saints. Now that i was two three weeks ago. Good coaching staff. I gary coaching staff. Yeah so the fear in this isn't just the saints but the fear is all right. What happens at their downtown in a playoff game. It's basically the lamar jackson corollary. How am i feeling down. Thirteen to three in the second quarter and they've just done a three and out. What were my emotions in that moment. That's my the saints because a breeze. I think that because they don't you don't think they're capable of a big play. Is that your fear if teams though like all right. They've got to air this out. They've got to quicken the pace and also it's amazing to me a cameras probably been the. Mvp think it's either him cook mahomes berry some order Okay i'm amazed at teams aren't just like all right. We're taking him out like bell. Check in his prime your. He got added as kids to the coaching staff and decided to throw a fight street. Drafts fail check All he would do me like chimeras not beating me. You can have everyone else on the saints. I'm not getting beat by that guy. I'm falling everywhere he goes. We're hitting him constantly. He's not beating me. Why don't teams do that with them. I don't get it okay. So first of all they have a of weapons. Thanks so she when michael. Thomas is healthy There's a lot they can do their you know. I think peter king early breakdown. His column this week about there was a play where the bucks dropped eight men into coverage and it was a weird play. They had their fullbacks put out wide and brees hit a random tight end. Adam traveling for a touchdown even throwing into eight men like that. There's just something their breezes still really really good so. I think it's a bit simplistic to say. Just take away kamara because they can do other stuff And they can. They can change their game plan so

"peter king" Discussed on The MMQB Podcast with Peter King

"Three to one Peter King here. This is the F. M. A.. A mini pod my abbreviated podcast rounding up all the events of the NFL weakened really the NFL. Week it's been a crazy easy crazy week around the national football league and I always enjoy divisional weekend the best of any weekend get into the year even though I actually hate that term divisional weekend what a dumb name for a mega weekend for the NFL. And this sweek. I went to Green Bay to see the packers. TRY TO WIN THEIR FIRST PLAYOFF game in three years Against the Seattle seahawks. I thought it was tremendous drama. Lots of fun. I'll get to that in a couple of minutes but I also want to tell you what else I'd say. Have in store for the column this week. You know so much interesting stuff. That happened I've got a chunk about Tennessee's win in over Baltimore and the absolutely amazing run right now of Derrick Henry as well as Some thoughts about San in Francisco Minnesota and Kansas City in Houston which was what a weird weird game that was a preview. The Tennessee see it Kansas City. AFC Championship game now. How many people in July said Tennessee and Kansas City would be meeting waiting for the AFC championship four seven? I didn't even know there were seven in Nashville. Who predicted that? And then obviously Green Bay San Francisco. Both of these games by the way are rematches of November Games. that These four teams played against each other. I've got a good cool fund section in the column this week about the The CERTA Tick Tock as they call it. Journalism circles of what what happened with the Joe. Judge Matt rule dual for jobs with Johnson Hansen with Carolina and how that ended up impacting. Josh mcdaniels the New England Offensive Coordinator Mike Leach. The coach former coach at Washington state And obviously other situations in the NFL. So you're really gonna WanNa read this. I had a good time putting this one together In the column this week also talking about the Rooney rule will interesting thing about the Rooney rule got into went into play in two thousand three and in two thousand and three. There were three black doc. Head coaches in the League one black general manager and zero majority owners will. The hiring cycle is over. Now that Kevin's too fancy is gone to the Cleveland. LEVELAND browns. So they're the exact same numbers as they were seventeen years ago. Three black head coaches one black general manager and no Black owners so you can read all about that. I've got my profile filed. This week is about Matt Rule. The new California coach or a new Ca- California the new Carolina coach. See what happens when it's three three forty five. AM in Green Bay. And you've been up all day in and half the night but I just there's there's a lot in this column this week I hope you spend a little time with it Either Monday or Tuesday and now let's just get to the lead of my column from Green Bay. Wisconsin that pass that Aaron Rodgers is pass. It's still there. He still got it. I came to green bay wondering about Rogers stupidly as long as it turns out though. He's thirty six six years Tom. Brady's junior and four years drew breezes. Rogers had been a five hundred quarterback in the late McCarthy era he threw for twenty eight yards per game this year than last had the second lowest accuracy rate rate of his career in his. QBR The advanced metric quarterbacks skills rating invented by ESPN was the lowest of of his NFL life. But the packers were back they were NFC north champs so the numbers. Well who cares about the numbers when you're thirteen. Eighteen and three Green Bay hadn't won a playoff game in three years as the wind. Chill hovered in the low teens. Sunday tonight. Green Bay twenty-eight Seattle Twenty three third nate at the packers twenty two to nineteen left after the seahawks cut the eighteen point halftime lead of the packers to five in Seattle had two timeouts left and hand the marvelous Mr Wilson warming up for one more miracle. He always knows he's GonNa win. Pete Carroll said later he can't Dan function any other way. We really didn't want to give the ball back to Russel. Green Bay coach. Matla filler told me in his office just off the locker room later. Well who would you don't single cover Lebron with the game on the line. You don't give Mike Trout anything good to hit when the game on the line. You don't play Bass Defense Against Derrick Henry on third and short. It's common sense so this was a third and eight. Rogers I just needed to convert. If the packers wanted to win their first playoff game in three years and of course Rogers changed the play Whiteout Davante Adams was supposed to run inside. Slant leflore told me but Rogers Rogers change the plato a double move and what was a classic fade at the snap. Adam stopped and started and then bolted pass safety fifty Ugo Ahmadi. Who'd been momentarily confused by the double move? Rodgers threw such a soft and easy both thirty yards in the air with the Mahdi a yard behind atoms. The ball was so perfectly placed that if Ahmadi hadn't been expecting it it would have fallen fallen over his right shoulder. I'm sorry the ball was so perfectly placed that if Adams hadn't been expecting it it would have fallen over his right shoulder and hit him in the arms devante ran. Great Root Rogers said and I had a lot of space. I felt like the put it in. No no he didn't Amati was a step at most behind atoms. When you throw ball thirty in the third thirty yards is in the air onto a postage stamp that is special when you make a thorough like that and you make one more third down conversion Asian through that was a little less challenging and you run out the clock and keep Russell Wilson Gripping the ball anxiously on the sideline? You've won. Andrew Team has won. I can't wait to go back and watch the tape of that play. Leflore told me fifty minutes after the biggest win of his young coaching life. It was his first playoff win. I wasn't anticipating it but you know Erin. He's been doing in this longtime he knows. This hit me about the playoff weekend. Lots of teams went back to the the future the NFL averaged forty one percent runs in the regular season. This year on divisional weekend the the four winners ran fifty seven percent of the time. Now that's just not Tennessee. Either the niners had a sixty nine thirty one and run pass ratio Saturday in the route of the Vikings playoff football. I said you've got to be able to run in January so now upstart Tennessee's Kansas City Green Bay San Francisco. Both Championship. Game should be fun. The packers have work to do to turn twenty nine point November loss to San Francisco into a more competitive game titans chiefs as a matchup of the two most compelling ofensive forces left in the playoffs runner Derrick Henry versus Patrick mahomes the passer more about those matchups in a few paragraphs and about how the giants and panthers and a confusing train station in Mississippi State and Josh mcdaniels and Mike Leach in Key West all intersected for forty hours last week and also do about how to fix the Rooney rule rogers and his revival were vital this weekend but he's got a good partner partner to Leflore has done a good job this year massaging some plays so they look new to a defense. One of those plays helped the packers win more than anyone in the second. I'm sorry let me start that sentence again and one of those plays helped the packers win more than any the other one in the second biggest lambeau crowd ever any more than that crowd would now go. Back to green. Bay's first touchdown the twenty yard Rogers to Adams. Td on the first drive of the game it was a thing of beauty in the NFL today. Every team has legal pick routes there called rub routes that kind of past. Plays that feature to receivers running at goodspeed very close to each other. So that ideally two defenders will run into each other or knock each other off the coverage trail four minutes into this game Adams Geronimo Alison lined up wide. Left four yards apart at the snap. They ran towards each other. Like it'd be a rubber out but as they converge maybe four yards down the field each pivoted and ran up the field. They were faking a route. Actually an Adams on the left ran diagonally to the left. Pylon Alison on. The right ran toward the right. Post the the defensive backs trey flowers in Amati were temporarily distracted and by the time they got their footing. Adams had two steps on them. Kim Rogers to Adams touchdown easy as pie. Crazy thing rose. If Rogers waited a split second alison would have been more open. The two Seahawk defenders both followed atoms. no-one covered alison. You can say Seattle screwed up the coverage. Okay that's right but the first job is to come up with plays that confused the defense this one absolutely did. That's the Kinda a play that Rogers has to see. Say I'm dealing with a guy who's got next level knowledge of defense just like I did that. Play said Leflore is not one we've used. We just added a week or so ago. To be truthful it made sense when you put so much of a similar play on tape for opponents to see and you decide to change it a little bit. You hope you can catch the defense. That's what you have to do offensive football today. I don't know if the packers have it in them to go to San Francisco and win Sunday Eh. But there'll be more competitive than they were in November's thirty seven to eight loss to the niners the blossoming leflore Rogers partnerships should should see that as long as the Green Bay offensive line can protect Rogers. A tick better than it did. Last time it was interesting thing to see. Rogers linger a bit at his post game press conference Sunday Talking Marshawn Lynch who scored twice for Seattle and what could be his last. NFL NFL game and the offense and adjustments this year in Belgium. When you get it to be thirty six and you're in the playoffs for the first time in three years? It's pretty natural but wonder if this could be the last Rogers stayed on the field the first couple of minutes after the game waving to the fans and soaking in the moment it was a cool moment. We have such a special special relationship with our fans said Rogers. It's a different connection. We don't have an owner. We have thousands of people who have a piece of paper. It's a stock certificate but people feel like they're invested in what they're doing to be able to walk off that field again victorious.

"Go online to get yours today. So pretty strong words at the end. And I think pretty correct words at the end. So that's sort of concludes our Super Bowl part of this podcast. But I want to introduce you to Rick Gosselin is a longtime pro football writer who so terrific in knowing all of. All the people have made the hall of fame hasn't made the hall of fame what the margin has been. So I think we're going to spend a little bit of time, you know, with Rick and his talk asking him. You know, basically about what happened on Saturday in the meeting in the hall of fame meeting. And also, I think what what's the what's the future of a lot of things at the hall of fame. And and a lot of things about the positions that. Get special treatment by the hall of fame. But anyway, Rick Aslan's, very good. He's a good friend of mine. I think you're going to enjoy my conversation with Rick Goslin. Back on the Peter King podcasts special Super Bowl edition every year Super Bowl week, the forty eight member selection committee for the pro football hall of fame gathers debut before the Super Bowl in the city where the game is being played at seven AM and commences a meeting to elect that year's class for the pro football hall of fame. There's nobody on the committee the forty eight members who I respect more than Rick Gosselin from Dallas longtime NFL writer and sort of. I'd call the unofficial statistician anytime. I have a question about anything relative to the hall of fame. I always talked to Rick. So I thought that on this podcast since many of you or hall of fame fanatics. I thought I would talk to Rick a little bit about what this year, meant and. What he found significant about it. So anyway, Rick, welcome, Peter. Always glad to be here. Good. So. I'll tell you the thing I found that was most interesting we're here in the press box of the Super Bowl. So we may get a little bit of ambient noise. So the thing I found interesting this year is the emphasis on the defensive backfield. There are eight people selected four of them are defensive backs. It's the first time in hall of fame history that there have been that many defensive back selectiveness year. Obviously, Johnny Robinson, the senior committee nominee Kansas City Chiefs. Pro Bowl safety from the sixties then Ed Reed, obviously, the Baltimore Ravens. And then two corners of the patriots. And champ Bailey. Played some of his career in Washington. But most in Denver, so I guess I'll start off by asking you. Why do you think that were doing better? I'd say in the last few years on defensive backs than we have. I think there's a greater awareness. We've been Ponant drum for years about the imbalanced voting balance. There are sixty four sixty percent of everybody every player in canton modern era. Play offense forty percent defense. I think when it's all said and done you closed doors on hall..

"After the Gilmore interception. The patriots added a field goal on their next series. As a field goal. They wouldn't need because the final score was thirteen to three. So what are we left with? Now. What are we left with? When we consider the patriots in their place in history. I think one of the things it's very interesting to consider is that if you look back at what I would consider to be the two best teams of eras since the year nineteen sixty which kind of began the modern era foot of pro football. If you consider those to to. Ariza football. You know in the sixties the Green Bay Packers are great. They want five championships in seven years, which is almost unheard of in the NFL NFL annals. But one of the reasons why I think it's unfair to compare that is that I mean there were only fourteen teams at the time and the Green Bay Packers won five championships and seven years and didn't have any of the winds buffeting them that currently buffet teams in the NFL. There's no free agency to speak of. There were only fourteen teams. So clearly if you had a smart scouting department and the ad good coach and everybody thinks they have good coach. But you gotta look at it dispassionately and say do we really have a good coach? And and I think obviously that that's a question that anybody could answer in a hundred different ways. But when I look at this team, I mean, obviously, the New England Patriots are a great great football team. And they've got a great great football coach. So I really think I would stack up the patriots you go to the Steelers in the seventies. One four times in six years but same rules for them. No free agency. And all that. And I just think that now that the patriots have won six I'm not ready to crown them the greatest team of all time..

"So back on the Peter King podcast. Now, we take into the second half of the Super Bowl. And obviously at halftime New England leads three to nothing. There's a collective shock in the press box. I can tell you talking to some of my friends in the business, and and we're all sort of saying men what what's going to happen in the second half. I mean, it's totally unrealistic think that this is going to keep going the way it is. But I think what was very interesting that happened at in the middle parts of this game. Is that it simply reinforced a lot of people say, well, they'll make some changes at halftime. And and obviously, you know, the coach of the Los Angeles Rams, Sean McVay as young wonder kind and. And I think a lot of people at halftime thought. Well, we'll see what what happens in the third quarter. But the fact is. The Rams and patriots. Didn't do a lot different. In fact, as I write in my football morning in America column today at NBC sports dot com. One of the big things that happened in this game was that in the fourth quarter, midway through the fourth quarter after the patriots had ten drives in this game and scored three points total. It was a three to three game. And. I just sort of was looking at this game. Have you ever seen a game? A baseball game that you think boy, I better watch every pitch of this game. Because there could be a solo home run in the fourth inning that decides this these teams are so close. So that's sort of what I was thinking that, you know, it's a classic pitcher's duel in baseball, and that's what we were watching here. But I'll tell you what I really think turn the tide and. You know, you'll you'll get a kick out of this early this morning. So as I record this Monday morning, it's about three forty AM. I'm sitting in my hotel room in Atlanta. And as I'm recording this, I I've just come back in the last hour or so from the patriots team hotel, and one of the things that I did while at the patriots team tells try to find out a why they were so frustrated against the Rams defense and be and I think this is this is a really important part of it think about this. Why in the world the New England Patriots were able to sort of flip a switch and score ten points onto drives in the fourth quarter. After being basically shut out for the first three plus quarters of this game. And. At the patriots team.

"Yeah. Welcome to a special Super Bowl edition of the Peter King podcast. We'll break down Super Bowl fifty three with some very good. Guess we'll have some hall of fame talk to let's run down who we're going to talk to on this program. And how I'm going to explain what exactly happened for the New England Patriots to win their sixth Super Bowl title in the last eighteen years. We'll talk to Mike silver. He and I got together at halftime. He's the NFL network correspondent old friend of mine. We got together at half time to discuss what in the world was going on in this three to nothing football game at the time. Then post game I talked to Stefan Gilmore, the cornerback with the New England Patriots who had a huge interception in the fourth quarter of the game. And we will have a conversation with Robert Kraft the. The owner of the patriots who I talked to him afterwards in the trainer's room in the patriots locker room at Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta was fairly emotional and a little bit incredulous about what the patriots have done in his twenty five years as owner of this franchise and also going to give you a little bit of a fun bonus. At the end of this podcast. We're gonna talk to Rick Gosselin. He's a longtime Dallas sports writer and a longtime hall of fame voter like I am he and I sat in the seven and a half hour meeting in Atlanta where the new class was elected on Saturday will give you a little bit of insight as to what exactly went down. So this is going to be a basically a discussion of what happened. In a very very intriguing football game. And I'll tell you where we're going to start. We're going to start with how the patriots and Rams just couldn't get anything going at all basically for over a half. You know, they just nothing good came of it. But I'm also going to tell you in this podcast. What exactly happened to turn the tide and to give the patriots ten late points to win this game? "And now my conversation with longtime NFL executive Joe banner. Back in the Peter King podcast. Very happy to be joined by Joe banner. Longtime NFL front office executive was the president of the Philadelphia Eagles. Joe correct me if I'm wrong from two thousand one to two thousand twelve and from you got there in ninety five from ninety five to two thousand one you're in the front office, obviously. And after that you went to both the Browns and then you consulted with the Atlanta Falcons. And so I welcome you to the podcast and have a couple of topics to discuss with you. But I how you doing. Doing great. And I appreciate the opportunity to be on with you. Okay. So let's see you obviously, you have some sort of insider trading type of information about Nick foles about Carson Wentz about the Philadelphia Eagles, and what they might do going forward with I with what I would call a pretty difficult decision of what to do with a quarterback who has missed thirteen of his team's last twenty four games due to injury, including both postseason runs in two thousand seventeen and eighteen Carson Wentz. And. Knowing that you have him under contract for next year. And also knowing that if you choose to and you're how he Roseman the general manager Doug Peterson the coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. You could choose to bring Nick foles back Super Bowl hero last year. And who played great down the stretch this year, you could choose to bring him back this year, or you also could figure a way to either trade him or let him go and free agency, which seems quite unlikely. But anyway, I just I'm curious as somebody who knows the owner of this franchise, very, well, Geoffrey Larry who knows all of the players involved in this very, well, just a gut feeling what do you have any thoughts on what not only what they should do? But what they will do. Well, my insect comes from having been with those guys knowing how they think as opposed to having any recent conversations just to be clear and one of the things those guys do really well. And I think the winning teams league do really well is how we balance our short term desire to be the best. We can be without putting ourselves in a position where we're totally ignoring the long term. And I think that'd be really fundamental to this decision because I think they really really believe in when he's younger for the moment. He's less expensive, but that will change and they control his rights for two more years on the other hand they could keep foles for year, but they'd have to make a really significant cap investment. Which by the way will be money that they could push into future years to help them offset the cost of went. So it's not just looking two thousand nineteen they'll run cap models for nineteen twenty twenty one with foale's money in it. If they wanted to try to find a way to keep them and falls money. Out of it as well as factor an extension for once, and they'll look at you know, will we really be keeping ourselves to stay in a position to compete. Once we have thirty million dollars quarterback. I think their actions tell us which quarterback they think is better not factoring in the injury. When they came back this season foles won the Super Bowl last year. Once was coming up and injury. And when the seasons started training camp started was no ambiguity who's gonna start. So I think we know who they think is the better quarterback who also has a younger, and at least for the immediate future cheaper you've gone through situations..

"I'm not small factors. But the things I would also consider is that you know, the patriots. You know have played the chiefs twice in the last two years in opening day two thousand seventeen they gave up forty two points and tyreek hill burned him. But you're right. I mean that was a big Kareem hunt game. But tyreek hill Burnham seven catches one hundred something touchdown in this year in Foxborough again week six tyreek hill seven catches a hundred seventy yards or whatever it was and three touchdowns. The patriots really need an icy track in my opinion. And again, if that's not going to be the all end, all but tyreek hill has killed the patriots. And the one of thing that you mentioned about Damian Williams. I think he I think he's a good back. I don't think he's a great back. I think for my sake. He he runs backwards and sideways too often. I think needs to go to the Mike Shanahan one cut and get up field school. But. But you're right. He's been better than anybody would have thought in this thought occurred to me, I think they made a bad free agent signing with Sammy Watkins paid way too much to to a guy who's chronically injured pay him sixteen million a year, but they got Damian Williams for nothing off the dolphins bench. And so that really almost neutralizes the bad contract. They signed with with Watkins having great insurance in this case with Williams. So he's not gonna be at all what Kareem hunt is. But I mean, hey, he's maybe eighty two percent of Kareem hunt. And in my opinion, that's better than they could have ever expected. Anything? Interesting about Tarik Cohen finish your peers. Terms of how patriots typically copper noble in receivers in years past not always. But this was more often than not the case. They would stick their top cornerback on the number two guy on the other team but play one on one. And then have definite Corey play over the top with the second cornerback. But you know, you're Jesse Jackson's against teams number one corner wide receiver. So you double the number one guy with your second best corner. Mccourty number two guy on the other team is up against Stefan. Gilmore they've switched a little bit over the course of the haven't stuff, I'm doing play the number one guy the other team man, I meant to men more often than you might think. So I wonder if these which in this game and sort of say, hey, we're gonna take our chances with our best cornerback even though tyreek hill was incredible. We're gonna put our best guy on your best guy. Double Travis Kelsey. And then there you to beat us with Chris Conley? And the guys at that ilk on the bottom of receiving core and Bill that's why had you on the podcast. You know mine because you're good. And I really really appreciate you. Joining me. My pleasure, Peter anytime,.

"And now, let's turn to Dan or Lobski of ESPN for some playoff thoughts. Back on the Peter King podcast, very happy to be joined by Dan Orlovsky of ESPN, a longtime NFL quarterback eleven years, Dan in all twelve. And I'm often I'm often reminded that because Dan Orlovsky is a nutmeg, and I'm nutmeg. That. It's there aren't really that. Many people Steve Young, Dan Orlovsky. They're not many great quarterbacks in the in the history of the state of Connecticut. So you've got you've got you or your little bit of a trailblazer in having the career you did at uconn and beyond. Well, the first time anyone but my name with Steve Young. Same breath. So I'm gonna take it. But you know, listen, I always felt people on super fortunate for kind of grown up in that. I did and learning some of the lessons that I did. So I kinda I rented I rented intently, I also want to remind people who know you only as a backup quarterback. I want to re I want to remind people that. In in the two thousand eleven season. You went to Foxborough and you played Tom Brady you played against Tom Brady. This was the year that Peyton Manning is lost at the beginning of the year. And the colts are basically inventing the quarterback position during the course of the year, and you go to Foxborough that year you complete thirty of thirty seven three hundred fifty three yards two touchdowns rating of a hundred and thirteen point one. And you you basically now can always say to your grandchildren. You can show them this tape, and you can say, hey, listen, I want head to head with Tom Brady in Foxborough. What do you think of that kids? Pretty cool. It's funny. You bring that up Peter becau-, and when you talk about showing the tape, and then you'll have what not that was one of the games. I think I have I don't have on my starts on like caper video. But that was the one that I went out of my way to make sure that I go in for and for that reason. I mean, you you went head to head with the greatest coach and quarterback combo of ever certainly in in conversation of it in one of the greatest quarterback ever. So I do have that one. And I will be doing that. And good. All right. So let's talk a little bit about. What is your current Bailey wick, which is analyzing NFL games analyzing NFL players. And I'm gonna ask you a couple of things that aren't just who do you think is going to win this game this week? I want to ask you specifically because there aren't a lot of people who can get into the mind of Nick foles right now and Nick foles to me. So I've covered the. NFL now for thirty five years thirty five seasons. And Nick foles is really one of the most interesting serves, I mean, the most interesting stories Kurt Warner, but foles is a very interesting story, and I just want I'm going to ask you this question. You know, Nick foles now is I think either nine or ten in one as a playoff quarterback, and I find that so fascinating because I asked him a couple of weeks ago. How come he is able to play? So well when the games are exponentially bigger like in December January than they are in September. Why do you do that? And his exact words were I have a quiet mind. The day of the game. I do not, you know, I'm not I'm paraphrasing. He's not listening to loud music. He's not getting all pumped up. He told me the day of the Rams game. When they went out to LA and they were preparing for this game on Sunday. They had a long day because it was a night game. And he said I spent a lot of the day journaling writing down my thoughts. And so this is an incredibly thoughtful guy. But his point is I don't wanna make the game too. Big the reason that I brought up your patriots game..

"You'll be glad you did. And now my conversation with adidi king Kabbalah of the NFL network. She does a really good job of covering the Pittsburgh Steelers. Back on the Peter King podcast, very happy to be joined by a longtime seven-year NFL network national correspondent, she's based in Pittsburgh, but covers the entire NFL adidi Kinko Bala now a DD. Thanks so much for joining me on the podcast this week in applying pressure, and you said that absolutely perfect. You know what I did practice mentally? So anyway, I'm I'm I'm happy to I'm happy to get it. Right. But so adidi I wanted to have you on the podcast because I really respect your work number one. And I particularly respect the job you've done on the Steelers recently. They obviously have been one of the most news worthy. Noteworthy teams in the NFL. And they're not even in the playoffs. Clearly, this is a team that you could argue as top five talent in the NFL, and they didn't play well enough to even make the playoffs at some very very damaging losses, particularly on the road. Particularly I would say the Oakland loss that you just started saying to yourself man there is a dysfunction around this team. And it's and it just doesn't seem to get better in particular last week when the 'Antonio Brown's story surfaced and really bubbled up. I thought you had some very interesting things to say both on the air and on Twitter in you made it known I'm gonna read one of your tweets. Mike Tomlin is often called the players coach man who leads his players be men. Well, when Levy on bell doesn't return your call at all during a contract struggle when Antonio Brown doesn't return your.

"And I my little snippet of a conversation with a rookie all pro safety of Los Angeles chargers after their great win in Baltimore on Sunday Derwin, James. Back in the Peter King podcasts Derwin James the all pro safety with the Los Angeles chargers before we talk about this game. You just played always your reaction when you heard that. You're all pro as a rookie in the NFL. I was excited on just coming in. I said all the way back to the combine that I wanted to come in and Ernest position and be all pro and make the probe. Also that was one of my goals coming in and like I say just for us to continue to win. And just do what we need to do. Why was this game this year for you? Not that big a transition. It seemed from the very start you played big in big games preparation everyday. My daily habits that I do every day, and my coaches doing a great job prepare me. I mean, I got great teammates. And like I said we challenge each other everyday in this spec. My best out of me every day, and I've been bringing that every day, and it just transitioned to on Sunday or standing in the bowels of Mt. Bank stadium in Baltimore. You guys just gone on the road for the eighth time this year and one football game. You've been to London you've been to Baltimore you've been to Kansas City. You've been all over the map and you've won games. You've won eight football games on the road. Why have you guys been such a good routine this year with raw moments like this coming into other people housing like I say plan char football for four quarters. I mean, we we feel like we always Dylan as a team more and more on those playing rather than just getting over here. Just own a road in the hotels on the road. We love it. We love it. We love we love it love it. I mean is absolutely fun. Why why is that? Asleep in God that we have in a locker room, honestly. 'cause it's fun to be around guys. Like this twenty four seven. I love football coaches that love football twenty four seven. So I feel like it's going on the room. Okay. So the first time you play these guys two weeks ago, they ran for one hundred and fifty nine yards. They pass for two hundred two yards. I don't know the stats in this game because they were inflated because what happened late but through three quarters. You've just totally snuffed them out. What was the Gus Bradley game plan this week? And what was the idea coming in? I do we will put on we got seventy Bs. Unfortunately, we had put seventy Bs on 'cause battling injuries. But I feel like we did a great job of just you know, again speed on the field and just get into the ball. And containing and line did a great job all day of you know, again to the quarterback and not carrying too many rushland foster not not for too many states to get the ball. So overall team the first snap of the game. You. Were there waiting for Lamar Jackson. And it was almost like you. You you were spying just to make sure we're not gonna let Lamar Jackson outside. We're not gonna let him beat us. Yeah. I snap of the game. How did that feel the you? And what did you see that it took off from there like the momentum of defense when they seen that we make that? I when I make the first play I feel like from narrow it was would just win to click an clicking come another place. So like I say everybody star making big plays. And we start getting big sacks interceptions. And like I say offense the ball. So I feel I. We've got a great thing going around here. What do you think Gus Bradley's mantra was this week when he would talk to you guys about the important things in this football, just being able to read your keys, he knew that was gonna be small, you know, coming in with with a DB's, but we we thrive on on being physical..

"Yeah. Welcome to the Peter King podcast. Right. Try to tell you something about football. Maybe just a tiny bit about life. This week all football. We're gonna start with Derwin James, the all pro rookie safety of the Los Angeles. Chargers. We had a short conversation after the chargers beat the Baltimore Ravens in the wildcard game to advance to their big game. The divisional playoff game at New England on Sunday in Foxborough. Then we're going to be joined by Didi king Kabbalah of NFL network. She's done some very good reporting on the dysfunction inside the Pittsburgh Steelers. You're really gonna wanna hear this. She is all over what's going on inside the Steelers. And then finally one of my favorite new media people in the NFL, Dan Orlovsky, a an eleven year NFL backup quarterback, and I was more. Most interested to talk to him about foles magic. And so we had a very good conversation about what is making Nick foles tick and win with the Philadelphia Eagles. But first, let's take a ride on the coaching carousel. We've obviously gotten we had we had eight jobs coming into the off-season. And now we're one week into it. And there was a flurry of activity early this week. I'm recording this on Tuesday night about nine PM eastern in New York City. And so what we have so far is we've got the Green Bay Packers taking Tennessee ofensive coordinator, Matt leflore to be the new mentor for Aaron.

"You know, you. It's actually a fascinating thing. It doesn't hurt his getting another gig because he's gone. So the reduce guys I will say this about the ravens they are so committed. Right now to this Lamar Jackson offense and last night. I think we saw a little little bit of weakness in it. There's a little flaw on third and five and you eat a first down in the fourth quarter. You're calling an option pitch to time on Gumri is this what gun Harbaugh's committed to for the rest of his love. I launch his game. I love this game this weekend. Chargers. The chargers have been in the chemistry lab for four quarters already. They know what's coming. So you're playing a first time. Yeah. And they they played pretty well. They're the only team to hold hold the ravens thunder hundred seventy five yards rushing since since Lamar Jackson started starting. I don't know what that means. I think they gained a hundred fifty seven on the ground day. But it's it's sort of interesting. I think this going to be the best game of the weekend. What crazy about is the draw comes out last night and like the NCAA tournament job. You know, when did she the plan? And I said it on our good morning football show. The first thing on my mouth was wow, they play on the road in Baltimore. Hen AM local time, they're playing at ten AM when their body clocks ten It's AM. true. At least at least they don't have to play Saturday rather play on the flipside ten days. I'd rather play ten AM body Clark on Sunday with one more night of rest than I would even at night on Saturday. Just me. But anyway, you're absolutely right. And they've got the seventy s and like you said they got worked. They went to the lab they have it all on fill is there that much left in the bag for the ravens. Or is. It exactly what you expect an case when you have the answers to the test. It's a lot easier taking the test and they just went through the test. So I'm such a fun match up who because the chargers are not built big on defense. And the ravens knew that going into for Sunday played like we could beat them up on offense because they've got the big offensive line. These big running back. They're not built that way. There's no, you know, there is no Brandon Williams Aaron Donald in the middle. That's going to stop the run with the chargers. A lot flight of defensive line. But how do you adjust? It's truly a chess match and truthfully Peter, I don't know who's gonna come out on top. Because the chargers seem to play. Well on the road and with an hunting, Bradley are not dumb guys. They can draw up as well. Seven and one on the road. They're the only team to win more than five road games here. Peter Schrager, good morning football. Fox sports. It's been wonderful. Thank you so much for joining me. I love it tuned. More to come. Thanks to my guest. "This is the twenty time he's dropped back and nineteen of the twenty times. Nobody's been open. When he supposed to throw it yet. And what Troy Aikman early in the year? He made comments in the Chicago game. Look, there's nobody open. You know? I remember my dad doing it two years ago. Look, there's no separation. So that's what's amazing about Aaron Rogers to me is he is not given the benefit of guys like, you know, McVeigh or brief amazing is this. If time Montgomery doesn't take the ball out of the end. Against the Rams Green Bay. I'd say almost certainly wins. They only have to go thirty five yards to get feel arrange to win the game against the rain. I try to remind people this all the time. How many this whole season could be different between that the fumble up in New England. They're about to take the lead the fourth in to punt and Seattle. So there was three instances where we go. We're waiting for Rogers takeover to spark the team, and they took the ability to spark away and go and you never got to do that. And then they end up you're right in New England seventeen seventeen day at the Joe, right? They got it going and third variety. Dems forget will running back Aaron Jones Jones Yeah. filed. And the patriots got it. Patriots went down four. Yeah. Okay. So let's I want to spend one paragraph on each of these games this week. And I want to ask you, let's go in order Indy at Houston. I'm kind of fascinated by Indy right now. And I would be worried if I were Houston their offensive line stinks. And Shawn Watson got sacked fifty eight times this year fifty eight times. So I I kinda like Indian this game me your thought, I'm with you there too. I think this is a bad match for the Houston Texans. I bet you when they saw them win those damn are you kidding me? Because the first thing I thought of as the what's the greatest thing. I mean to Sean Watson's awesome. We know that but the greatest unit on their team is that D line, and it kinda gets muted against the colts. Oh line the colts will line. I just saw them a few weeks ago. Protect all day long with that group. I saw them. Protect with Dallas Cowboys. The colts all line is. Maybe the best football there in that conversation. Is that right? Three years ago. We're going killing Ryan. All right. It's amazing. But between that and then the Texans pass defense is not good on the back end. They have issues there. So that's not a good combo to face, Andrew luck and that offense line. And then like you're saying on the other side of the ball. They only run the ball in the week, the Houston, Texas They feast on the week, and they don't do much against the good defenses. Yeah. And it's Hopkins and Watson when I watched the Texas. I just go if anybody doubles he Andrea Hopkins the best receiver, and he's certainly in up there. He's the best covering receiver. I've got the best hands the hands or unbelievable. Why would you not double team on every big passing situation? Austin wants to go to him every time. He's unbelievable. How about he catches twelve balls mostly on Jalen Ramsey? Yeah. He's special. He's really good. He really is give the colts the edge to though just in my Tuesday morning. Yeah. Seattle at Dallas. Yeah. You know, what I didn't really realize last night. Right. My column it's like one thirty in the morning. I'm going over just look at all the stats for every team say, holy crap. The Seattle Seahawks rushed for twenty five hundred yards this year. And I mean, I'm wondering if they just simply say we're gonna play a New York Giants nineteen eighty six football game where we're just gonna put it in the hands of Joe Morris..

Houston Texans colts Houston Shawn Watson Aaron Rogers Andrea Hopkins Jalen Ramsey Troy Aikman Seattle patriots Seattle Seahawks Aaron Jones Jones New England Rams Green Bay Dallas Cowboys Austin New York Giants Andrew luck Chicago Texas
