"Harold and Kumar go to white castle But now he's turned his creative talents to fiction Show has a debut novel it's a book for middle grade readers and it's called troublemaker It tells the story of Jordan a 12 year old Korean American boy living in 1992 Los Angeles His family owns a store in the koreatown section of LA and Jordan becomes caught up in the violence the night following the acquittal of the police officers who are videotaped beating Rodney King Again John Cho's book is called troublemaker and he joins me now via Skype to talk about it Welcome to here and now Thank you so much for having me You said in your afterward that troublemaker was not the novel you intended to write and so I'm curious about what novel you intended to write Well it started out I was going to write a mystery novel I loved mysteries as a kid and I thought maybe that was the book I was going to write And it was the events of 2020 that caused me to change course It was the murder of George Floyd and the pandemic and the anti Asian violence that caused me to reflect on the 92 riots and wondered how it would have seemed to my children You know the Rodney King riots and then the violence that spread into koreatown in Los Angeles that's tough stuff Those are things that people still debate What do they mean what caused them why would one disadvantaged group black Americans rise up and attack another disadvantaged group which was Asian Americans and there's events that you refer to in your book that help to explain them But it occurred to me that for a debut novel writing for young adults You didn't make it very easy on yourself Like you chose you chose some really nuanced material Did you ever at any point go in white mom maybe I should write about dragons Yes I did Bet I will say that I knew that it was going to be fraud especially for a young adult audience and it was why I asked my editor I think I need to work with a co writer Principally because I needed to talk through all these issues How it would be presented to a young audience and I needed a steady hand to work with And so Sarah soup is my co writer and we wanted to be honest and playing spoken about all these events but also I didn't want them to be in a consequence free atmosphere and I want and I didn't want a kid to read the novel and feel unsafe So it was a balance I hope we got it right I mean I think you did but we'll have to let the listeners read the book for themselves I did really enjoy the way that you played with that word troublemaker because it's unclear who is the troublemaker There's the main character Jordan who has done something wrong That's how the book begins He has hanging out with a guy Mike that his parents think is a bad influence Then it's unclear as you go forward who the bad influence is that idea of who makes trouble is a concept that you seem to really dig into and then draw parallels between what's happening in this kid's school and in his family life to what's happening in broader society What was your intent for kids to take away from this Well for kids I was thinking at that age those middle grade years as early teen years there are period of identity formation and your individuating yourself from your parents And I found that age to be very confusing and you try on a lot of identities And I suppose if there was a lesson in the title for kids it's that no label has to stick And no identity is set And you can become whatever you desire to be I suppose I was thinking about that Also in the Asian American context and the larger racial context which is you're not necessarily what people see specifically for Asian Americans there's the model minority myth and I think Jordan is dealing with that and falling short of the expectations that society puts on him because of the way he looks On a personal note me and all my Friends when we were younger we would curse at this hypothetical Peter Kim who lived in cerritos We've got a 1600 on his SAT and our parents would all tell us about him and we cursed this boy And so yeah I guess it's just a kind of meditation on labels in general Well if Peter Kim is listening you were the boogeyman to so many of your friends Oral surgeon in the valley Oh so a real underachiever There is the question also of Jordan's parents And the story that they have And the fact that they have already endured some failures as they've come to the United States And have so much wrapped up in the store You have a kid about the right age for this book right Yes I have a 13 year old boy and a 9 year old girl And so I was kind of thinking this novel in some ways is sort of demonstrating to kids a more nuanced portrait of their parents Yes I suppose it is I hadn't thought about that.

"Podcast flack for not. There's some why god in the restaurants definitely it is deadly deadly can't without the five percent on there. Well sorry for bringing everything no you know. How many episodes are you in six hundred. I think it's like four in the for. I remember your first one nikola school. They'll come out. Kumail was the first one. I thought nick was really funny. That you say that because i saw a little nips of booze from the devil devil's little airplane super airplanes Kumail on the first episode. Before jack horsemen. You got beau jack. He's he's bo jack. Janice bo jacked. Got a real solid frames very solid. You can hang a bike on for sure. Like he's a he's a new york apartment. I could hang a bike on his back and she wouldn't notice for several days. Oh my god. There's a bike my back He doesn't even talk like that. Because he's al- alfie. Hello hello he's lots of icon. I can't do numale anyway. What was i saying. You're saying. I guess kumail was so nervous because it was like. It's like an open up that he he wouldn't mind set it on air. He had a couple of those airplane. Nips because i won't be able to open up without a couple nips nip that it'd be refreshed on the crush nap like depth on the ground. That reminds me camille and here. You are mentioning that asi como. Whatever i see liquor. I have a bit about him i go. I don't wanna be that jack. Because i don't want anyone to look at me and be able to know what i do all day. Like you see commissioner like lifting some having things all day maybe some shakes. Thanks you looking at me nothing. What something involving pancakes probably have said you'd never worked on a date that blew my mind. I just this is another bit. i wanna try. I just got a treadmill. And i've been using it every single day for a couple of weeks and i love it. I've become one of those jobs. Like i tell everybody endorphins. Let's because i used to chew nicotine gum. That's funny. I've never smoked in my life. And i would she nicotine gum because it gets your blood pumped over. This is fucking great exercise. It never tried. And i don't even run on the. I read a little bit mostly. I'm just walking working feels like g. rated pot-smoking like you were like. I'm not going to get high in all. Choose some nicorette. No a menthol spliff. Wow did you. What was the first time i mean. We have to do a show as being more of a chewy. What was the first time you were like. I'm gonna buy nicotine gum. I actually think. I'm genius because would not really off at now on the exercise. This is the bit since. I've only been doing it for like two weeks. Yep but every day three miles every day pretty good. That's and i've already started doing this. Peter kim did my podcasts. Very funny man. And he's like. I don't exercise. You don't exercise. I've already started looking.

"In the in the so. I just had a moment where i was like oche. What what the fuck. And you know after i grieve than did all the processing in therapy that yeah. I thought well what could be worse than that. What if like. I had to come back and run the spa. That right right right. That became the pitch and we pitched it as the pilot was pitched with my dad. Me coming back for the funeral right and then the family trying to get me to stay and be going. No i got a better life. I hate all of you. But i ended up staying but abc's was like. Oh we love it. We yeah do it and then they were like. We don't wanna premise pilot. We want a third episode pilot. Which means don't tell us the set up of the whole thing just imagined. We're watching like couple. I sewed in. So i had to change the entire pilot but anyway it's better now. It's great oh. By the way i mean that is such a touching moving and crazy story i have to say i have a relative who died the same way because like oh four super into. He didn't by public start. He didn't die at a public spa. He died. He lives in hokkaido. Which is like the top part japan and he has his own like people up there like they have their own baths made out of like special. Would that's like skin or whatever and he just died he just he was old. And i don't know if you had a heart attack or not but it's hard to stop while he was taking a bath after work. And i kind of a nice way to die. Because he did suffer at all he was like chillan and in his bodies clean. They don't even have to clean them. So peter have you do you go to. I'm not sure if you how your relationship with spas are now. I love it i know. Yeah yeah i love it you know obviously because of kovic. It's stopped but you know what's interesting. Is that like korean. Spas have now become highest spots for gay cruising specifically. Oh yes okay go way. I'm sorry what is that i understand. What a what does gay cruising mean. Yeah oh cruising is a term. It's an early gay term if it exists anymore. Yeah it does. I guess but it just means like you're going to like different areas to hook up with strangers okay at a at a park in central park. Have you ever read angels in america. Have not the guy. Raikkonen he goes. That's how he gets aids he's going around cruising and it cruising culture was huge back in the seventies because being gay still in some states as illegal so like you have to go to parks or have you read a pachinko. Yeah yeah yeah. He does that right guy. In japan he goes to the forest to hook up like. Yeah yeah yeah yeah. Yeah yeah yeah yeah well. What do you think your dad we think about that. Now i'm gone. Ask killed him. Maybe he was is like. Hey guys like hooking.

"He's focused on the game. So yeah wow so. I mean because you were saying earlier like you don't know how to come out i mean. Is there a sort of like a. I don't even know. Is there like a playbook for something like this. Because i feel this is probably one of the biggest conversations you could ever have anybody let alone you know. You're evangelical mom right. I mean you know. Like i don't even know what options are. Yeah look it up. I mean how do it i. There was nothing to look up. I don't know any other gay koreans do but at then i didn't i didn't see any to like benchmark anything again so you know. I was a pioneer. What can i say. Yeah yeah. I feel i mean i definitely relate because i've had a long you know my wife screen and a her parents have tried to break us up many times. This is before we were married. Now it's like now it's now it's illegal. You can't do anything there. They've i remember having this. They flew over to new york to have a big talk with us. Mammalian meat with me. and they. I remember the talk happened in a hotel room. Trying to explain why we weren't a good match. You the kind of like almost logical way you know and the funny thing was i was like i totally agree. You're absolutely. She deserves way better she. I still believe that you're absolutely right. But it's like we're in love so that's really the problem and then we we went out to eat at. There's really good korean restaurant. And i'm sitting there like this weird mixed because like inside. It's like boylan emotions and on the outside. There's all this delicious grilled meat and trying to light the square. Those two things. yeah. And then i remember. I paid for the meal. Because i really want to get on the good side. That actually kind of annoyed them. They're like what you don't think we got enough money. And i was like damn. There's no way i could win on this so it's it's like can i just ask is it was. It was trepidation around the fact that you're not korean okay. So there's there's a bunch of different things i think. I think a lot of the reasons can be grouped under that super reason. Do you know what i'm saying. Superweeds super reason. So it's not necessarily like that. You know alone but a lot of other things you can. Kind of in the taxonomy of wires suck. That's one of the larger thing. So yeah man i mean chelsea be. It's still there where we'll have a. If if i if there one time that would be amazing. Yeah anytime you need to break some bad news to your conservative family. Take them to be at least get some free fried fish out of that you know. Don't want to get it into an industry. Got a show everybody out there like these guys are out of touch. No okay just listen. Listen let me listen. Let me list out what's going to happen. Have a show. You're working on with bobby lee. it's extensively about the kind of like you coming home and taking over a family business and it's a korean spot right and hey you know what you're from new york we. We've not really talked about the korean spa experience. Did you go a lot of korean. Spas would your family business. No not in the business but my dad well. This is a kind of conflict story of the origin of it. But my dad used to take me to this place called king sonal in like a big koreans on a jersey. Think pal parker fort lee and he. When i was young he would take me there all the time in a way to like i guess like forced me to bathe with other naked man Because i think. I don't know for sure but for me. In retrospect it felt like he was trying to toughen me up or you don't wanna get you into that whole like masculine. Yeah locker room type. Whatever where we all have penises on. Stop being so shy or weird. Covertly gay and i knew that early like he really macho alpha super toxic and i was like i was sitting there playing with my little ponies and like painted. He was like. I was always trying to make me play sports. And do this like rough around so he would take me to the crane. Spas all the time and i hated it. Because i just don't want to be around other naked men. But i did you know what i mean like. Ooh but korean spas. Now it's different back then. It was like old like nine hundred year. Old korean men just like sitting on a little plastic stool like washing their balls. Remaining was not sexy at all. Not at all. And i remember thinking like i just insecure about my own body and just being around other man But anyway fast forward to twenty fourteen. I got a call from my cousin he goes. I know you you and your dad. You don't have a relationship and you haven't talked to each other in ten years but Men it sucks up to tell you this but your dad died. And i was like whoa. Whoa what happened and he goes. Well you know you know. He's been sick and stuff like that and he had a heart attack. And i'll go. Oh shit where'd he goes in a hot tub at kingston. Oh wow going out now like a true. Korean had a fried fish in his mouth. And there's a hardboiled egg.

"If you're asking mike your parents were. They're buying gold for sure. Yeah i was gonna say yeah so. This was in little saigon. Yeah it was a little saigon though. I knew i think he was working on it. But i i've never i've never heard of a comedian sell merge after shows like seriously new york and on top of that the fact that it was gold. It's not yeah it's not. It's not like a funny t. shirt or so. He was like one hundred percent serious. And i was like wait. Hold on did he. What was his content gold oriented. Was he like. I'm the gold guy. I'm trying get to. I didn't get to seize comedy but honestly if he w- if he was doing that i would almost be like okay. This makes sense but if he was a regular comedian. Who'd just like you know. My wife you know has always nag like just a regular straight seller. By the way. I've got a great price. Fourteen carat cuban linx fourteen inches up to twenty four inches to the show. That was one and i was like. Wow i'm not in new york anymore. Second type of people. I've met that surprised me. And i met more more than one person of this character. And it's hot blonde chick with a lot of plastic surgery. Churn listens to joe rogan. Does this make sense. I it. They don't exist in new york like hot girls in new york. Don't listen to joe rogan. Not not because they may not agree with him but they're just like now he's a loser he's whole he's like a fat guy he's like who cares. He's he's like five three. You know it just like he's not cool. I would say the difference between hot people in new york versus hot people in. La is like how people in new york are like magazine hot. Where it's very editorial vary like well put together. You know what i'm saying like looks like you're on the cover of vogue. Haste like hamptons right. Yes z. Look at beach like on a yacht upper-class whereas like hot in la is like. I'm so chill. Look at one of the boys morning. One of the boys to any voting having anti vacs opinions and it was so weird. Because i've just never seen. I mean maybe this is just me being ignorant but like i just i guess i've just never seen like a very porn star hot looking girl who like all about joe rogan and fumie. If there's someone who's ignorant here it is not you. It is the la this is why dude that thing. Everybody listen to the episode. Maybe came out a month ago. When i came back from my trip to la. And i was so worked up. This is exactly why not the gold guy. That guy sounds tight. I want to hang out with a guy that the people in la they are. You know this whole thing you're gonna you're gonna come into it more often. You're gonna come into this into contact. And i think it's gotten worse over time but it's like they live on the west coast. They look like they're liberals but they're actually just fucking hicks. Yes just yes. Small town hicks. Yes who have lamborghinis. That'd be that's entirely because if you think about it all of these girls i'm talking to. They're just like they're the hottest girl from their high school in arizona or some shit like from here. You know what. I mean so that totally totally make sense. But what's she doing comedy. I think she was also like in the comedy like. I think that's the only reason why she was talking to me. Because i was like. Wow it why would this lady. I have nothing to offer this lady. I wanna hear. I mean you know i definitely want hear later on. You know once you do some more shows. I kind of like what what the comedy is like out there too. Because i feel like everybody here is like a anemic white dude or like crazy. Non binary comedian person. Who's doing all sorts of really esoteric talks. Yeah you know what i'm saying so it's like it's very niece year. Comedy niche which can be good or bad. I wanna hear what it is in. La gold or breast implant jokes or whatever the fuck it is right right rock out there. I'm really interested in hearing well if you want me to. Have this confidence in the podcast. La comedians please fucking book me available and i will be able to do this on this. I'll be sure to book fumi way early. Take the bus everywhere so he has to leave now for the show. You booked onto you anyways mike. What kind of agent were you this week. I was very drunk. Asian this is. This is kind of coming out of Last week but i was just thinking about so. My friend had a really birthday. That's really why. I was in san francisco and before so we want to do some speeches and this is one of those things. I don't know if this happened to you. But sometimes people want me at different like at different events like weddings or something for me to say something to kinda like okay. Do you know what. I'm saying. Because i'm a comedian and like oh hey can you host this thing or whatever right or mc thing i'm like okay. Sure you know you're my friend. I'll do that for you. But then i realized what happens is i cannot have fun during before the show before the show before the i go up. Yeah i have to be really coach it right and put i forgot about that and i just. I had like a bunch of shots fred. This is my friends party. She's doing very well for herself. She rented out the whole restaurant and it was open bar. And i was like all right. This'll be fun. I kind of forgot that. I was had to do so. Had like four drinks like an hour. Before i had to go up and i can. I can hold my liquor. I was like. Oh fuck. I i was like. Oh my god. I had to go and do this thing. I had written some jokes down on the back of a napkin. And the thing. I'm supposed to do is i'm supposed to like bring up her friend. Who's going to give a speech like a real speech. And then her husband who's going to give a speech stakes are low for me and honestly was fine but like the whole i. I had someone videotaping for for for the birthday person so she can watch later on and i i watched it and wow it is. It's not terrible. But it's like it's like i was just like it's like i got punched in the head and then i had to up and.

"We made it weird and the living at largo. Stand up or maybe brea. All right val get into where. You're not ready i was gonna say kiva crispy god i loved it. Get into it. Let me just set my apollo to clear and focused partially with opening so shull no phoolan vow first of all i was gonna say i really need this like i'm coming in like i need a podcast with you. Oh yeah coming in hot love it. That's not what i was expecting. Feel all jumbled and shuffled not solid in my brain and my body and like. I feel that way to a little bit do you. Yeah i've got. I've got some anxiety in my body. This morning i've had it since. Okay so the largo show. Yeah and i said this to you briefly last night Before we watched frazier an excuse to be together. Frazier is definitely just an excuse to be together but premium show. I'm not oh. I would defend frazier till i was blue. Green in the face blue is stage. One blue green as stage two. You're you're starting to die. That's how much. I dr frasier crane and doctor niles crime. Dr crane dr crane. It's such a part of my life now because there's so many seasons of frazier so we've been watching it for years way. I walked by somebody who kind of look like niles. And i said to myself out loud niles just because it's my life it's such a part of my life. I said it as if it was like so hilarious but like it's it's clearly very dated. Most people wouldn't know what the fuck i was saying. Remember this is kind of a hardest laugh. And maybe we've shared it on the podcast but remember when we asked if david hyde selective david hyde pierce was gay and she just said yes you know. She's yes david. Hyde pierce's gay. Wait a civil many questions. Because here's what i found on the web. Yes david hi. Pierce has been married and she might even. It was just really weird that she was like a robot in the room. Yeah it was like yeah. He's like we hear the sound of a can't like this is what you hear info alexis david hyde pierce gay. What yeah he's gay like she's just doing her own thing. I opened a can of waterloo to ask want spinney demand. These days i'll i'll drink. Waterloo is great. And that's why. I was just going to turn this warm. It's been in here for weeks. I was going to say one thing about your apollo i actually. This is how. I know the the applause one of the sponsors of this and by the rocking now now it just it just started so we're door like one of those couples you know like whenever you see an older man like in his sixties and he's wearing an apple watch look to the wife. She is also wearing an apple watch. There's zero percent chance that if there's some anomaly like a fitbit yes the husband is also wearing a fit but if the wife is went or sometimes they're like children like older married couples kind of like siblings. Yes you know what i'm saying. One of them's wearing a hat that wicks water like some under armor breathable cap. The other one will be wearing an under. It's like did you parents stress you think becomes the param is or it's their kids become their parents so their kids by the both fitbit's for christmas. That's sweet their kids. Like you know. Yeah i am those things i i like that i always go to like. If it's it's like what's happening with us. I'm conceding that this is happening with us. You got an apollo. And then i and then i got one. I actually got way more into it than you did. I don't know 'cause. I meditated with it to you. It for the you definitely super is and then yeah and then i did kind of fell off a little bit just like a lot of things you might cool on it and then i meditated with it and i was like i just did it before. This spot backups. Forget it just turn it off. Turn it i. Apollo alexa can't riff anymore anyway. Here's how we know it works. Clear and focused is as intense. As i'll go. Oh right on. My social and open is so stimulating. So sort of like. I don't do it very often so you haven't even dabbled in energy in waco do energy and wake up. That one's the most no. I know. But i do that before. This is so fucking funny first of all. That's a premium riff. I'm gonna write that down like like older older couples. Yeah like siblings. Yeah because that's that's a stand up and this is also something we've said before so everybody knows that that listens regularly that i got i got rid of the elliptical i gave the elliptical to a friend and i got a treadmill and i've been using the treadmill total slid. Yes pregnant tarmac. I've been using it every day and it's only been ten days. Maybe if that yeah at least that at least that instantly you think of myself as as as someone who exercise exercises always like immediately just i go into the files of my subconscious takes out the lazy piece of shit file. Yeah shreds it yet. I think that's why like one corporations shred documents juicier than it should be. It's like who. I think it's because that's what we're doing in our minds. I'm going to try to calm down. I'm getting manic. I'm just saying that's such a familiar thing we're all shredding thoughts like making a deliberate order to go like that's not happening anymore and i've always said like when you quit smoking. You instantly become a nonsmoker. And then you start preaching to other people who smoke like why. And i feel that way. It happened on peter. Kim peter kim was last the last episode and i said something about like you don't exercise. You just started exercising. It was a fleeting moment. But i was like. Oh i am so full of shit. It's been at that point. Five days of consistent exercise and i was like you don't exercise. You don't really have you thought about a treadmill 'cause roy working for okay single salaries so safe here because you're talking to the girl this entire time you like as you have started to exercise and you're falling in love with it. I like giving you all this advice. Like you just have to do it a little bit every day you just. I mean it's great advice. But i'm giving it like. I am currently exercising every day. And i am a far from it vice advice from a coward. The advice is still..

"Competition. Let's go other azn's so you stay in the field. I stay in the field. And i see my world starts acting in front of man. I'm like oh no what's happening. And all of a sudden he goes like you know like those old school. Tv's when you turn off and just go boom. It was like that and then reality when dark black. And i was cold and i was like oh i'm dead and i i i i knew i was dead. You know what i mean like. I knew that like i personally didn't exist anymore. You had an ego death by the way the opening line of this book which you should read. It's called the immortality is if you die before you die. You won't die when you die. So the whole i understand that yeah i understand everything so it was because you survived death. Peter i died. Who died i you. It's a mitzvah. It's the luckiest thing that could have happened has happened. I haven't had an ego death. No okay double. Acid on l. toyed. Let me tell you when you went into the cold dark place and what is your brain you panicking or you do not like. He's piece. complete peace cold. Look at the universe loving you. Yeah it was like it's okay. Holy shit you're dead. It's okay and you're like okay and then right when i was like okay when that that that that that that the and it opened back up again and i could see here and i was like my brain was alive or whatever the my soul and ever since that an end the whole night was fucked up but like fucked up bad he he. I was like wandering into different tans and people are like have some tea and rubbing my back. That sounds perfect. It was great was tripping for twelve hours after that. That's the tricky thing about it. So long i want just like a emt style quick although on the time stop so it's not really quick not quick but it is correct. You don't have to spend the whole night. You come back and you can still go golfing. Eat but you've never done that. Not the mta. You know I would like to try. I'm very open to all types of psychedelics. Yeah i love mushrooms. lsd really helps me it's like exactly what you said about your friends book like. I'm no longer scared of dying. I love it. Because i understand that it's peaceful. You got the gift you got it. That's that's the thing that's the whole give. I didn't know give humans to me. What one of around us up on the wall and one of the things that he teaches like jesus is trying to okay. So i'm going to say to quotes. They're both religious. Forgive me but richard. Roy says jesus come to change our mind about. Didn't come to change. God's mind about us like make make odd not like not hate us. Jesus died to change our mind about god meaning and this is rhonda is going look. I'll show you. It's no big deal. You can dis. i'll do it. It's a scary thing. I'll let them crucify me. It's fine he and the resurrection whether or not it's literally just showing you like relaxed. This is the pattern of the cosmos. Jesus you everything is dying and being born again. Look around you. Yeah yeah. that's there's scientific. It's everything is cycle and you are a part of it. You're not a separate thing walking through it you are at and there's nowhere to go no fucking double acid outweighed went. Hey look peter. I'll stop it. Yeah and then you go but you're still here because we're could life itself go. Life has no opposite. The opposite of death is birth out. That's interesting. I never thought of equatorial baby. Life is oh and that's and that's always name he says i am that i am. I am nece and you are. Ms amnesty listening to me right now. Low you're aware. Yeah so you are a piece of the divine and that doesn't go anywhere. peter does. Who cares who had that you went here. Look i'll turn off. Peter and it was so it was so cool to and it was the first time i thought. Oh the collective consciousness soul exists. Yeah of this husk. "Gathering. Have you heard of this. It's like an after burner festival like after burning man. People are like i haven't had enough so another week so good. It just wasn't quite intense so it's like artists donations. And all the stuff that you see but a friend of mine was booking that and he was. I come to a comedy. We'll set you up over and there's three hundred and it's all like very like bedouin hippies who like all work at google you know what i mean. They're all like sitting there and i was like. Hey what's saab you dirty hippie. Is you ready to party like yeah like who the fuck acid and then some guy comes over with like an al toyed and i was like yeah all right fully knowing there's acid on it i'm like how do i know there's acid on this. You know and this other guy like just jumps out of the tree and he looks a dropper on top of the acid so double double acid. And i'm going. Oh fuck and i look at audience. Audiences like to get to take it. I was like. I'm just like have you done it before first time. Ever this shit at eat it. Get shit out of your look. Katie's face get the first time ever double acid this motherfucker double acid over smoking like peer pressure. Because i was like. I made it. I made a fool out of myself. I was like i can't tell maybe it was the best way to do it. Like having out of people chanting like yes. Yes might be good. I tell me you the trip. I took it. And then the first thirty minutes of it on setting. I really felt like i was like going through membranes of like different universes those like this is so cool and then all of a sudden like geo frank delaying happens and then everything's for and then i was like stuck on stage. No no this was after the show. Thank my other comedian. Friends are like all right. We're done. Let's go back. And i was like i can't move there like what the fuck you can't move and like just leave me here. And i'm like standing in the middle of this. Festival rosen frozen. I'm like just leave me. And they're like all right so they got on the bus and leave. Who are these friends. Asshole other asian comedians. One more down yeah.

"Went from like ten people at the show to lines out the door. Like hundreds of people overnight. Jesus yelp me yes please. Jesus so it was like an overnight success and i immediately became like this is not real. I'm not that good. We're not that good. What the fuck is this. So i just started growing growing with classes and shows and more shows and more shows and i was like i can't inside handed the company over to a friend and i was like i need to go to chicago. I'm gonna quit my job. And i'm going to go to chicago to see if i really can do this. Wow so i moved to chicago when i was thirty in two thousand twelve. Quit my job. Stead goodbye to the career. Whoa yeah i took off the you sign the contract to quit with your mother's tears. Your mom took all her bags. Of course. I was like i really want. This is brave gamble. Chatman crossing over so many threshold counties. Quit i quit. Chicago enrolled in. Io and out we have a lot of similarity instead. He did chicago too. I did yeah. I just different order. I just went there. I oh right right. Yeah so i did. all that. And i started touring with second city and then did their resonance stage and you know. Yeah that's right and then after a while when you said you used to fly to new york to sending. I used to fly to chicago just to watch the second city shows from boston from boss when i was twenty two twenty one actually and who was on stage then i remember kevin dorf was in it. Okay remember a rich towel grove. Okay rich town grove which towery grow rich peste tell rico tele rico rico for him oh yeah obsessed with rico and he went to mad. Tv as a writer. I think because. I was really interested in his career because when i watched him i'd stay in that improvise at midnight and all that stuff i was. I bought shoes like him. Like i had a real real age on him. He was your comedy hero. He was my comedy hero because he kind of goofy looking not super goofy looking but i could see myself in small but so funny i still remember some of the things he said became things that i would say. Just be funny. One of them was he was improvising. And when and then a fifty. Foot jesus laser beam is just my whole life. I've said fifty. I'm sure there's me saying it on the spot. I got it from him. Singing like one improv song. When he said a fifty foot jesus with laser beam is just lost it now. Because we're in comedy. I'm like that's not like the craziest line in the world but i couldn't believe it came out of human beings face. I saw an interesting thing that you left. Atc because you were being heckled and is that right. Yeah it was which was another heartbreaker he. I mean it was right when god was twenty. Fifteen into two thousand sixteen. When like mago was really raring its ugly head and people were like crossing you know how in theater like or even stand up if someone grabs you from the audience. That's like a no. No you know like worse touching you like it wasn't just heckling. It was like they were treating us like objects and our hatching. Yeah i like not on the face but like on the ass like i. I know what you mean. I'm only saying this to relate the times. When i would do like a like meet and greet after a show. I remember these bikers. Came up to me and i had a lot of bits about lake. I'm not Like i had a bit about how. I like to stand like a pregnant woman and how everybody thought i was gay because i stood that way i was like i'm not having sex with women and standing like this about the same there so they're all kind of like i don't know what do you call them but they're not like standard straight guy jokingly like in that more inclusive and because of that like bikers would grab my dick. Yeah so. I'm smiling for picture. Some guy in a leather vest is grabbing my dick. And i'm like what the fuck shit she's like that because you're playing gay characters are like reading gay talking you're trying to dominate your like emasculate. You that's right. Yeah this guy is the representative of that type of thinking and look. I can grab dick. Yeah and i did the first. I was the first asian men on stage at second city in sixty one years well so it was already crazy. Well and there was a lot of stuff like organizationally. It's like this happens. A lot in hollywood and other places. Institutionally where they're like we're liberal people. We want to do well but they ended up doing the least possible. And they're like odds too hard like for example like my understudy was a white kid name. I forget what his name was but he was like a chicago white. Dude kim peter. I not cool guys personnel. You had to go in the yellow pages for that one out. Okay i like not just me like we had two black women on our cats and they were like we don't know any black woman. So can you find your own understudies. Like to the south side and just find. Some doubt literally came out of producers. And when they're saying that this is a horrible part. Pete is that they thought they were doing the right thing right so it's like because they've never had us in their building right. They're like oh you're being too difficult like our white men. Don't complain like yeah. You have twenty under studies for them so he can be sick whenever he wants. So it's like little stuff like that where it's like oh it's definitely not equitable and we started complaining and there were like shut up. Stop complaining and then it was a lot. Were there any sketches where you were playing like someone with a heavy korean accent that the white nine to step in and be like. I guess i can do this now. No not not in an accent. But i was doing like a scene called drag where i was like getting in it was lights up on me like finishing up my makeup and i was in full drag and i was like. It's it's time to go out to to my birthday. And then the scene is about a straight white guy going trying to like dress up as a joke and me saying like that sucks and now as the scene. But because i'm in dragon like full. Like i have a wrap dress on and everything and like people would yell like fag it and like shit like that from from the audience and who bought a tick what a ticket and the house managers would never deal with them or really ever like in. Stand up. I feel like because we have a microphone and because we have we don't have that fourth wall. Yeah you could address someone directly. That's right and then get the audience to like get on your side. Yeah you know and just kind of like heckle waiting if you're stuck in a piece. Yeah you're doing scene work. What are you gonna do. I can't just break that scene and go like yo. Shut the fuck up. And there was one point where i looked out to the audience and there was that can improve the improv games in the couch. Them pro games so be like sarah. What's something that annoys you. Whatever what's something that was small that annoys you and we'll take that and do a thing. Sure this guy was sitting next to a mexican couple sitting too close to a mexican. And i was like you know what fuck you and told house manager like kicked us fucker out. Get the fuck outta here and the house manager literally looks at me and goes and just shrugs he shrugged you got. I got shrugged. When i literally broke the fourth wall and set kick this guy out and because the mexican couple next time. We're like so like and not feel. And i'm like what the fugger making them feel horrible in a comedy show and this guy's like fucking drunk on a saturday afternoon so lagman car. That was the last straw for me where i was like. Oh you're not treating us equally and you're not even listening to us when we ask for help so i can't keep working here and expect different. You know a response from you and the whole show ended up blowing up. And we're not even in the fiftieth anniversary book. Like they took us out really. Oh god it's so sorry. It sucks for.

"They're like i trust. You wanna take a bite. I tell me. Tell me what's going on. Yeah please eat half of this. I wake god but yeah she did react exactly. How unusual is gonna react. She started crying. And can i ask Here's when you break up with someone and you say we need to talk What what is the opener. That sets the table for coming out. I have something to tell you. I have some news. I have something to tell you. Want to sit down. Yeah you might wanna take a big for the bra. Yeah and then you just said did you just flat out. Say yeah really yeah okay. And she said what. And i said i'm gay and she goes. No no no no no way. What what do you mean. You can't be gay and she was like in. You could see it like her head. She's like spinning the wheels going way but he never but i thought oh no no girlfriends all. She's doing good doing game. Yeah okay retro. She's like going through the she solving acts. Did you know did any part of you go. Like because if i if i were you i would start acting more birdcage in front of your mom. Just to kind of grease the wheel see. I would have done that. But i was living in. She was living in new york. I was not seeing her that often right so like unless i sent her pictures of me and like carnival like it's funny but it's also having to leave hints to a loved one to like it's so much of this has been really funny but also super painful to go like how can i grease the wheel to tell them who i make. Sure she doesn't take her love from me. That's right but yes okay. But like a break-up i would. I would with a girlfriend that i wanted to break up with. I'd like you know it's almost the version of trying to get them to break. So you're like dropping to them being mean or just kind of being aloof or whatever it might be but it never works and then it's still a surprise when you break up with them. You're like but i tried to. I should have said some bitchy stuff about her outfit or something joan river even aware that yeah and she goes. Oh my god. He's gay in that moment. She's doing the game f. Yeah was there any part of that was like come on. No because i was pretty good at keeping it secret. Yeah yeah since like high school. I was just really terrified all the time so i was really good at like not at and being a comedian i always deflecting and always making jokes like just like see soft boys and gay boys. I mean you had come in both. I feel like my sense of humor was developed in large part because i was always the biggest kid in the class. You know what you mean but you were working like you had to goals three lines potentially tired and your science kid. So you have like classic nerd g gays and asia of dude. Of course you're hilarious. It's no wonder okay. So she's she's starting around going. No no no. No no yeah. She's like crying. And i'm just looking around going like this spicy so funny. If you look at the table next to you someone has also coming out. Just give them like a finger gun now. I would have been like get out of here. That could only be one comedy line. Only one coming out. Yeah so my brother reacted exactly how i thought he was gonna react. He was like oh. Okay that's cool like he was just like not phase at all. that's great. yeah that's sort of. I mean it's pretty close to the best case in their best case scenario would be. We love you. that's amazing. There's a hot guy. I want you to me. Yeah exactly yeah did you forgive me. I watch so many. I did both new faces. Did you have the about. Where my straights did you ask. I think there was a gay guy who had a great bet where he was like. Where where the straight people. I have somebody that i want you to meet. I'm going to set you up at a wedding people always people anyway So your brother took it a be a solid b. Yeah it is is is not failure well did he swoop into help. No he was just like Deal destroy like autumn like emotions or ooh. This is weird. And so i walk a train and then she gives me a hug. Okay and then she says i just need time not bad. Yeah and walker to train. She goes home three days later much. Like christ i she. She takes me to the airport to go back to sf. And it's dead silent the whole time and i'm like this is so uncomfortable but i know that i'm going back to like i don't give a fuck like if my mom's going to be mad at me whatever like i'm leaving you. Also the ones sending money home. Hello you know what i mean like. Oh you got a product bitch. Like what the fuck are you crying about. And i bought her a nice bags. Say it right. Your gas bought her a lot. That's.

"Because when you the deeper i get into show business the more you realize that you're like there are a of people involve and the more people involved the less control unless ownership you have so you picked a good a good model. Thank you. I love it. Oh my god what. If when i'm not gonna say what if when you become the agent berry yeah. People are going to like linked to interview people's broke. It broke it. Yeah asian tyler. Perry peter okay go shit go shadows so teen. He takes me there and then he says okay wait here and the guy teaches pizzeria. Knows me because you know. I'm a little kid from flushing. I'm in there every week. So and they also were the only pizzeria that had kimchi pizzas. They really knew their marketing. Right would create like the first day. I'm tj. i work at tj pizzeria. I see a lot of people. I started asking around like. I think barry cabbage cattleman comes out as comes. We put this the first day. He's rocking a kimchi. Pizza on the top shelf yeah. He's wondering if it's going to sell. Oh yeah he's like this can't be real. This can't be right or is it and during that it would be like like maybe twenty twenty one thing that six there were like pandora away and pander expressed that was across the street so they're putting out pander. Koreans will eat. Kimchi pizza absolutely. I love kimchi. i'm not. Why am i saying i'm just saying that but not i love you sound like you're pandering hendrix right now. I don't know if i want it on pizza. It sounds kinda strange. You should try really yes. it's good. it's really good because it cuts through the cheese. It cuts through this brassiness and i mean it's just salty fun crunch. Yeah i get it rush. I'm in a man. So i they know they're like do you want a slice your weekly slice and i'm like no no. I'm actually here for the ac ads. And i'm looking back. There and philip walks this long. Walk back to the table of aldo. What we call pilots and diallo's are like it means big brother giannis so this was like a pan. Asian gang mostly. It was like chinatown. Do you know matt street. In chinatown in new york monserate was like big for chinese mafia and like the triads and it was like a big like fertile ground for like asian mobs and stuff like interesting. This was kind of like that crew. And i was so excited and philip goes back there and he whispers into this styles ear and stilo. I remember he looks up at me. Looks up down. And he whispers back into phillips here and phillips smiles and he comes back to me. And i'm like i'm in. I'm in finally like i'm going to have the back that i need. And then he just comes up to me and he goes. They said thanks but no thanks. He was like sorry dude. You got to go home. And i ordered the slice of pizza to go to go. I'll have to go on the bus. Cry eight it on the bus all the way back home. Cheap pizza cheap pizza extra salty. You ought to go shadow. No never go shadow. I feel like that is the feeling of junior high in a moment. Just absolute rejection. Someone looked at me and was like of course it's a no. You're too young to know that it's of course it's a now and you're like maybe i mean. In retrospect my thirty nine year old self like i. I had asthma chubby closeted kid like they didn't want me in their gang would slow them down. I can't run. I had this feeling to when i got to college. My roommate and my my guy friends were all like way better than i was and i was like in a war what would i do like what would i be. And i'm the guy that my roommate would carry out ama- bottom again he's running the jungle. Vietnam things are blowing up behind it and i'm making jokes to keep morale your legs blown off a year just like doing beds. I'm doing Let us say so. Okay so you didn't get into the ghost. Shadows that happened to me freshman year of college again. When this as you wanted to roll with real gang head. I thought that would like i don't know i thought that would bring me. That would give me respect or people would be afraid of me and where you getting troubled enough that you felt like you needed support. I think i was always well. Yeah i always felt like i was endanger because of the jumpings on the train on the train and just like being just being a an asian high school kid in new york city. Like there's always something going on like some kind of fight was happening and we only hung out like at asian bars korean bars because they were the only ones that let us in. When i was sixteen all of my friends decided to get fake. Id's to start going clubbing. Do you remember you are in new york for a while right. i was. Yeah there is a place called tunnel and twenty alot limelight. These are all like clubs back in the nineties and all my friends were like sixteen years old. Going to these clubs and i had no. I didn't want to go 'cause a like. I didn't want to let go pick up girls or you know what i mean so like i was like and it was one hundred fifty dollars to get a fake. Id so i was like you know what i'm you guys go. I'm gonna go to the west village and go to the comedy cellar. And i would just sit at the comedy cellar and the host. Would the manager would let me order to diet cokes and sit in the back with my girlfriend not my girlfriend but my friend. That's a girl and we would just sit there all night and watch comics shot up. That's i just got a little chilies. Because i'm like you. I found it so early. Tunnel i didn't go to tunnel. Can i went to. I know this sounds like so unique. It's just me it just me and another life another story and other body. It's just like where do i fit in. It might not have been the same exact Ingredients but then you find your thing and you go. What the fuck is what a. What a joy that you found this person. Let you get to diet coke the accent on the back of both shows. It sounds like a time racially wasn't like expected. This is what i'm saying. Is you tell me this guy. This manager at the club being friendly to a korean kid might might have been like a nice a welcome surprise if other places are booting. You out like yeah i mean. I don't know if i ever thought of that. It got that far. I just remembered them like being like all right. Just sit in the back and icy. Don't be sitting anywhere that like paying customers could say you know and because it this is the seller in the nineties nine hundred ninety seven not super hot. No even stand up. Wasn't that hot. Yeah it was like the first stand up boom had come and gone after seinfeld right and then we were kind of writing that like david tell was my guy like i would just watch nonstop and i would watch insomniac tour like i thought he was the most reverend yes funny is just dirty and nasty and i would being like christian asian boy. Yeah he was the person. I wanted to be yes. He was a free person. He got to say anything he wanted to. And i was so i was so nervous. All the time and scared that like hit. He's he felt powerful. of course. yeah. And i remember feeling scary powerful to. I'd watch insomniac or whatever it was and he'd do some intro like now we're gonna go over here and then do a shot and i'm like who the fuck is yeah..

"And they give you a spoonful of mashed potatoes and you go. That's i'm a man and then you get corn and that's a straight man and then you go back and because it's too risky to think about it. You know what i mean. it's too it's too frightening. It's too scary. it's like another version of. What are we all doing here. Like who am i. And what is my body asking for. Like what are the appetites of my body. Scary thing because what if they're not in line worried with the culture exactly lightning. I think so many people that are just system and straight. Don't have any fucking clue what they actually are. And that's actually that's kind of a victim there meaning. They never felt safe to like look into it. But i just really want to applaud your observation. Because you're going. And the way i can relate to it as i remember meeting gay guys when i first moved to chicago i was a waiter and boy i was such a rube. I should've had like a husky week in my mouth. And just like. I met this gay guy who was not willing grace gay And he was not birdcage. Gay and i. He was so patient with me. Change my life. I was like and i ended up doing a comedy show at a gay club. And i i really thought the room was going to be filled with bubbles and topless men with with nipple rings zaid seen right like the third act of the second matrix movie dancing on and me going. So where do you get. It wasn't that at all. It was like the most like normal. He was very norm core. Like i don't even know how to put it. He just he just looked like matt damon to me like like very traditional all. These words are not appropriate to my at the time and he was like. Yeah you've just never met like really. Is this what you're saying like you hadn't seen regular regular gays represented it lead you to think you're right right. Yeah i didn't like click with that and also there were no asian gays. You know what i mean so like. I thought like like comedy. I thought gayness was for white people so funny you know and it just wasn't for me like and i was like all right. Well just keep your head down and fuck it and don't get beat up and figure it out and just leave town as soon as possible. So that's that's what i did. And i went to michigan university of michigan to go to school and when okay at bronx science school did well. I mean you. Okay yeah good school right. It was a good school. I had well and i it was it was albeit like all the horrors of being teenager and being closeted like it was fun and it was a good time right. Oh that's good yeah there were still the horrors though So many horrors like we're talking about. I grew up evangelical. Yeah so a lot of my me. I don't know if you know this culture in new york but on the coast both. La and new york koreans tend to congregate around church. Because it's our first place to like have community once we're in a new land so everybody went to church and like the the 'gangstas or the azn's these are your like nineties. Asians with like hair down to here. Bleach-blond black leather jackets wife-beaters. And douse me. Oh i was walking around with bleach mom bangs down to here. 'cause i was like trying to act so hardcore need. Are you kidding me. I so there was a gang named go shadows that i was so obsessed with shadows. Shadows shadow exactly. That's invisible paradox. Wh scarier than reality it's a paradox. Gang so bad. Because i thought if i could be in this gang no one would ever come for me. No one ever messa me. No one would ever ask. If i'm gay or straight enough. I'm and i'm go shadow. Go you what do you mean what do i want to talk shadow of even see the shadow of what. You won't even see the thing that i am the shadow of kicking invisible. Yeah okay untouchable. I understand hidden and so my friend. Philip choy. He was part of this gang and he took me to an initiation monday at. Tj pizzeria flushing. And that's where like it was. A pizzeria flushing where all the gangsters like hung out in the back end. The which sounds like a news network. It should be breaking on. Sem yeah if there was ever an asian sketch show acn news would be like the the whole g ever get one but of course we'll see it's going to happen let's hope wants to wants a streaming wars. It's gonna we'll have a whole azn channel forecast. I don't mean to interrupt you. I'm just like the black woman. Second the black lady. Sex show show. That's a freudian slip. I guess i'm really into these black lady. There sketch show. That's forecasting i. I bet there's somebody who does like racial forecasting based on what's happening. Yeah you see like well Black people weren't represented in tyler. Showed up here so you can say that ten years later the asian or whatever it might be oh i wonder if someone can call that stuff. I would love to be the asian tyler perry p. to own my own studio. Oh my god. That's a good career to one. Yeah i truly remodeling myself after tyler perry i am you are i am now. I didn't i wasn't before because i had known tomato myself after and now now tyler perry what did you. What are you doing that he did. And we're getting back to. We're going to just have like a plan now that i want to own start to finish everything. I read this article on tyler. Perry how he's so genius because not only does he own his own writing and his own productions but he also owns his own studio so start to end he just. It's just verticalised to him. You know and he doesn't have to answer to any gatekeepers anymore. Well you know something like get me there. I i had the same thing with Adam sandler i was just like i just wanna make movies with my friend. Write them and start them. But you're actually going to the next. You're going to be on on a on netflix. Because when you the deeper i get into show business the more you realize that you're like there are a of people involve and the more people involved the less.

"I'm thirty nine. Okay so we're we're pretty close. But like i think being a little bit older we didn't have any the concept thing to something. I remember i had a friend a sheesh. He was the indian kid who had a mustache at seventh grade. He was like hormonally ahead of everyone. Yeah and his dad. I forgot what his dad did. But he was able to save ten japex on the three point five inch floppy disks you remember those and he would sell those for five dollars and it'd be like jennifer aniston fakes. What it's like soup or fake. Like just ahead cropped on technology. Yeah that was like the first thing internet pornography thought to do. It's funny because now they have the technology to do it because it and stuff but the first idea. Oh yeah actively internet had yes. Here's pornography. what. If we put alicia silverstone so badly on it on dislike black bodice. I was like we were all like whatever it works. Oh my god that reminds me of. I had to j it for the doctor. He was worried that i was infertile. I don't know why i had a bit about it. At the time. I was like who cares if i'm infertile. It'd be like i'm on the pill so young cared. But i had a trio remember the palm trios. It's a phone yeah. It had a keyboard kind of like a get showed at antenna remember. I love you got it immediately. Showed yeah i remember at the palm. People are like we want a new phone. We want to give it a showed everyone here. No jobs gone. So i i could only put a little pornography on it because i knew i was gonna have to masturbate and everybody whenever you see a movie if you have to jerk off at the doctor. They give you like a vcr cart and like hardcore. That's not my experience. Nothing thank goodness. I have this trio with preloaded pornography. But i was so christian and meek still it was still in my system. Enough shame was still in my system that even the pornography was a very mild. It was just like a woman kind of showing her but and in the medical context it looked clinical. It looked like she was bending over for an exam. Oh my shoes. I hope it's not serious masturbating next to a skeleton. There was a skeleton and they gave me nothing to clean up. When i'm done. I'm just going to the drawers looking for gauze and it's disgusting you should have a off room somewhat. Beanbag lava lamp hand sanitizer works. They were just like just jerk off in here. I had a whole closer about it. They also can. They didn't say that they were like you can go in here and it was just somebody's office and there were like florida ceiling windows. I was like okay. Yeah i'll just turn the pictures of this guy's family around. Don't you have room for this. They didn't new york. There was no jerk off rooms in new york. That's crazy yeah. It was horrible. So where are we. You're saying it you're getting giant jaded because you didn't know 'cause i was I didn't know what like homosexuality was like i. I heard of it. You know like the only thing i heard at that point was like chandler might be gay. You know what i mean like. That was a reference. I had the actor the character the character that was like the joke. Remember all of season. It's like chandler gay really that was like the whole first season arc for chandler emotionally and there's little gay boys watching going like a guest. I'm sarcastic i guess. My sexuality is a delightful gag that way exactly and then like will and grace came out. And i was like that's not me and then like i would i would start to seek out like. Oh my god. I had a copy of remember the birdcage with robin williams horse. And i remember watching it inciting more with the family that showed up. You know how they're hosting dinner now. I watch what about bob. And i side with dr leo. Marvin yeah i was young. I was so christner's yod be freaked out by these people. Do but that movie when you don't know any gay people don't know anything about it right like that's a lot like robin williams is a lot. Yeah he's like meaning club owner. It's like the game. Is miami gay gay gay. just miami. you could have a miami straight couple. And i would have been like what other people in the room. It's like but that was like the first pop culture thing. I saw with eight people that i was like. Oh my god this is what gay is like. There was never a touch point where i saw myself so interesting. You know and i was like this is not the type of gate. This isn't that gay. I guess i'm not gay. I just i like women. But i just like wrestling with my friends and possibly of like a brush boehner on my knee. Yeah you know what i mean or something like airboater their boehner mutual. Yeah looks like everybody's when wrestle. I think when boys are wrestling i mean just loved. Wrestling always would put wwf. We didn't watch wrestling. Who drew me and my friends. My my my guy friends me and straight guy friends there. I'm pretty sure everybody straight still. I mean like it would be a big surprise to their wife's if they weren't but i'm open to anything but we would put sleeping bags over our heads so it was like blind wrestling and just like go at each other but it was like the challenge was you couldn't see see. Oh wow yeah. That's it is king. Yeah we had our dicks out and besides that you did want. I don't remember it being sexual i would. I'd be running up to tell you if i did sure. I do. Remember liking touch right just like being a human person at did you like the sensation of like domination versus mission. I wanted i was out there. Kicking ass it. It was probably more to be piled. I probably like i feel like yeah. Yeah yeah yeah. You're a considerate bottom. That's what i was gonna say this whole time looking at you going peter. Can i make a bottom job. I wanna be in bounds. No not only in the wrestling game was more of a bottom. Sure i that So the brush of the occasional neutral borough owner iraq and a bone to you one. Yeah once in awhile. I'm trying not to because. Of course i'm the one that's trying to hide from everyone and you know i because of that. I really went overboard with like trying to straight. Oh wow so. I would learning with women. I just wanna hit pause right now because what you're saying is capital fascinating You think you're gay or you're not sure you're you're swirling massive purple and gas and the solar system. You don't know what you are yet. But you're not seeing yourself represented. How do i know exactly like i feel the same way about gender identity. By the way most people are just going like well. That's me right. Oh you mean like you see. I saw zack morris. He said to based on an earlier. I like that was. That's me that's me. Likes checks and he calls them chair and he's he knows he's a boy and all that sort of stuff so i had these archetypes. It was really easy. I think when it comes to the mystery of the body and the mystery of sexual meaning mystery meaning it's subtle and it's complicated and all that stuff so many of us just making the easy choices. Yeah meaning you go up to the cafeteria line..
