That's eight seven seven ask Dell from wonder. I'm David Brown and this business wars daily on this Monday April twenty-seventh how does a little holiday in the Scottish highlands sound lovely? Even during this lockdown plenty of people thought so and reserve properties for rent on the global travel website booking dot com in fact so many tourists continue to putter about the Scottish countryside that it alarmed the locals like rural residents all over they feared travelers might bring Kobe. Nineteen with them at overwhelmed. Small hospitals and so in Blackford. The areas presumably exasperated member of parliament asked booking dot com to quit offering reservations for the bucolic countryside. Finally last week the giant travel company complied. Now you can't get a reservation at a cottage in the Scottish highlands until may ninth or later at least not on booking dot com so reports the Scottish newspaper the National. So why am I telling you this? Little story well because it offers a small taste of the big problems facing the travel industry like so many other industries. Covert nineteen is upended everyone in the travel business from tiny. Bnb's to the largest players that's especially true of booking dot coms biggest rival expedia travel and its parent company. Expedia group in addition to owning. Its namesake reservation site. Expedia group owns other household. Names including travelocity ORBITZ HOTELS DOT COM B. R. B. O. And home away just to name a few the multibillion dollar travel conglomerate however is far less steady than it had appeared to be back in December it ousted. Ceo REPORTEDLY DUE TO DISAGREEMENTS WITH CHAIRMAN. Buried diller and the board over Corporate Strategy Diller who also runs entertainment giant. I A C took over day to day responsibilities along with board vice-chair Peter Kern in February prior to the couvert nineteen onslaught in the US. The company announced what it called disappointing twenty nineteen earnings. It announced plans to lay off three thousand people or about twelve percent of its workforce at the time diller called the company's Sclerotic in bloated sclerotic by the way means rigid or slow to change. Not exactly a compliment. He planned to streamline the business which he believed had become too large and complex by the end of February. The company had put plans in place to save three hundred to five hundred million expenses annually and then the virus which had already been wreaking havoc globally hit the US hard. The effect on the travel industry is beyond devastating the US Travel Association estimates losses of more than five hundred billion dollars in direct travel spending. That's nine times worse than the impact on the travel industry after nine eleven according to Forbes sadly the travel association predicts more than eight million. Us travel industry workers will have lost their jobs by the end of this month. And if the pandemic is devastating most businesses those with fragile foundations like expedia are scrambling to ensure they'll survive last week. Expedia received a promise of a rescue package to private equity firms Apollo global management and silverlake are buying a stake in the company for one point. Two billion dollars that alone however may not be enough to help it withstand the travel slump. So expedia is also borrowing another two billion dollars to give it more liquidity. The company says along with announcing the deal expedia also named Peter Kern as CEO observers say. Kern who has roots in private equity will be well suited to the moment meaning. He'll be comfortable cutting jobs and expenses. The big question of course is not just who will survive. But who will thrive after the pandemic crisis abates and investment in a travel business? Even at CEO prices could be seen as a positive sign. Long-term read Raymond a partner at Apollo Management said in a statement. Expedient is a world class company with an unparalleled collection of online travel brands. He added that the firm which will take a seat on expedience. Board looks forward to collaborating on expedia growth and innovation a few weeks ago. Airbnb also secured a billion dollars in funds a combination of equity investment and loans from Silverlake and one other investor. Airbnb competes directly with expedia brands. Vr B. O. And home away in possibly a better position than Expedia is the business that offended the Scottish. Mp amsterdam-based booking which owns booking dot com like expedia booking holdings has also sought extra funds to see it through the crisis in its case it secured four billion dollars in debt. Shortly afterwards. The company reported that its reservations. Were down eighty five percent this year over last. Layoffs are likely. So what could be positive about that? Bookings now has an estimated eight point five billion dollars in cash to help it. Weather the pandemic. That's about four times as much as rivals. Expedia group AIRBNB have on hand. According to the Financial Times as is painfully obvious from the pandemic we humans are addicted to travel and when the pandemic ends were sure to be up in the air once more although undoubtedly with some changes still the fact that silverlake and Apollo were investing more than a billion dollars into expedia. Right now says something about long-term hope not just for Expedia but for the industry. As a whole Apollo's leaders are known as value investors and they understand the sale price when they see one clearly. They're banking that. Expedia will recover in time and make them a tidy sum of money when exactly that of course is the wildest of all wild cards which is what makes investors sometimes like well educated again. 06/22 WWDC 2020 (Virtually)
"Welcome to the right home for Monday June twenty second twenty twenty. I'm Brian McCullough today all of the headlines. I can manage Kremlin from today's worldwide developer conference from Apple. Hey gets approved by apple. By the way Google's ad revenue will decline for the first time probably in well. And why animal crossing might have shied Nintendo away from mobile gaming again? Here's what you missed today in the world of Tech. And here we go. It was the most unusual ww DC that we've seen so far. No audience, no stage, really Tim Cook actually came out at the beginning and front of the empty seats in the Steve. Jobs Theater and he spoke about racial justice and Covid nineteen at the very start. But then he threw it to a series of several different folks for prerecorded videos, which took some of the fun away, because of course, there was no chance for floods, but also let us take a tour around various apple locations Craig Federico Kick things off by officially announcing Iowa's fourteen and just running down my list of some of the new features there there's. There's going to be a revamped home screen. There will be data rich widgets that can go on that home screen. There will also be something called the APP library to automatically group APPs together at a new today view, which is where you can actually pull those widgets from that you can now re size and move around and put on your home screen. Picture in picture is coming to the IPHONE for the first time, and it looked like it worked pretty much the way it does on the IPAD. Siri is being redesigned to be less intrusive. It won't take over your whole screen when you use it anymore. And what was most impressive to me, but probably long past due considering the competition, there's a new APP called translate. That will enable live translation between language Pairs, and we'll do this on device. which apple kept saying was key for security, but more often, of course in actual use would be most useful when you don't have an Internet connection. Messages are getting pinned conversations in line replies improved notification. The ability to only be pinged by conversation. When you're actually mentioned in it, haunch of emoji stuff, cycling directions are coming. Apple maps, also special EV routing for folks with electric vehicles maps will actually track your car's charge, and then route you to compatible stations. Kilos car starting is coming to carplay. It's actually cars starting and car opening. It will start with the twenty twenty one BMW, five series which I believe is available next month. Yes, you can unlock and start your car with your iphone eventually. You'll be able to do this even without taking your iphone out of your purse. Even although I think that's coming in about a year. A really big thing coming to the APP store is something called APP clips which are small sort of stub versions of APPs. That you might need, but maybe you haven't downloaded that APP yet, so it's not the full APP it's just as I, said sort of a stub APP that downloads just what you need in the moment, so for example if you decided, you wanted to hop on an electric bicycle or scooter or something, but you didn't want to go through the whole sign up process and downloading the APP and all that stuff, because the APP clips will use apple pay an NFC. He'll be able to download them on the fly and use them almost instantaneously even to do things like you know, pay, parking, meters, and things like that APP clips won't sit on your home screen because again. They're stubs, but you can pull them back out when and how you need them, and if you do wanna go back, download the full app you can at any time. For ease of use ease of download and such, each APP, clip will be no more than ten megabytes in size so developers, that's the biggest of the consumer facing marching orders. Get those clips small onto ipad Os. Really nothing much. That impressed me overly there. There is something called the sidebar phone calls won't take over the entire screen anymore. They promised with Siri but then that feature is coming to us as well. There are enhancements for the pencil like scribble to insert into text fields. But yeah kind of the same old same old for ipad Os big news for air pods, air pods will now seamlessly move between devices, which I can't believe. It's taken this long, but for God's sake. If that works, that will be insanely great air pods, pro are getting something called spatial audio. Basically, if you watch video on air pods, pro, they'll sort of spoof you into hearing directional sound surround sound like experience. It makes use of the gyroscopes inside the pro to keep the sound source sort of anchored. You really might have to watch the video to better. Explain this one. It will all apparently work with five point one seven point one surround and even Dobie atmos-. Watch os has a bunch of updates. You can now create multiple complications, so one APP can now have multiple complications on a single watch face you can share watch faces you like with others in your contacts. Developers can create P- reconfigured watch faces that people can auto install on their watches. Dance is now a new workout available on the activity APP and actually activity is being renamed fitness. But the biggest news is that sleep tracking is coming to the Apple Watch. There's APP called winedown that will help you create a routine that turns on. Do not disturb and sets up routines like starting meditation APPs turning on music and stuff like that. The watch gets a while. You're sleeping setting and haptic alarms to wake you up, and then all of these sort of bells and whistles in terms of tracking the quality of your sleep through the night. The Apple Watch will now also detect when you're washing your hands, and we'll give you a countdown to make sure you're doing a good job and washing as long as you need to. Look sort of cute and useful. Developer focus stuff sign in with apple developers. You can now convert your existing Sinan systems to sign in with Apple. Home Kit is getting new features including person identification drawing from people. You've tagged in your photos. Suggested automations and more. Do you think they highlighted all of the security features of using home kit over other home automation options you bet they did. Apple TV fourteen. You can now share videos you have with someone else's apple TV apple TV plus got dimension. They demo the foundation TV series. That apple is working on based on the Isaac Asimov novels and I gotTa Say I. Know I'm a huge sci-fi nerd and all that it looked pretty damn good if you ask me. Let's start with Mac os though the new version will be called. Bump bump, bum big Sur. Apple claimed that big. Sur is the biggest design change since Os ten began. There's new dock design new finder design numale design counter design new translucent menu bar. Biggest news I guess is that control center is coming to the MAC straight from IOS. You can drag controls into your menu bar. You can customize them. The redesign widgets are coming to the MAC as well, but then the headline stuff. They made it official. The. Mac is transitioning to apple's own custom silicon. We've got to go into one of Apple's labs in an undisclosed location. They said, but the video suggested it was underneath the pond at Apple HQ. Johnny Saruji talked about the whole history of apples, a chip line, talking about CPU performance and energy suck. That was the key to everything. They talked about in the section. High performance with lower power. Consumption is the holy grail of what they're going for here. That's where they want to take. The Mac Johnny said he said they're developing what he was calling. A family of SOC's for the whole Mac. Ecosystem is apple hinting that they might end up doing the GP's as well. That was sort of interesting Craig. Federica came back to tell us that actually. Big Sur is super optimized to make this transition. This was a surprise. All Apple APPS including final cut pro and logic pro can already run natively on apple's new silicon from day one. And everything developers will need to transition their APPs into this new paradigm will be built into ex code switching over said Federica could take a matter of days to re compile. He says so sound super simple Microsoft is already working on getting office ready for Apple? Silicon Adobe is already working on photoshop transition. They showed final cut pro playing back four K. video and one thing that they mentioned that I thought was interesting is once. This transition happens? It will allow you to. IPHONE and IPAD APPs right there in the MAC. There's a Rosetta to that will apparently help translate all of your existing Mac APPs really simply and also devs the developer transition kit will be a Mac mini with an eight twelve Z SOC, sixteen gigabytes of memory, five hundred twelve gigabytes of SSD, a slew of Mac i. o ports and a custom version of Big Sur that new developer transition kit will begin shipping this week. Tim came back at the end to talk about the time line of the transition. He said it would take about two years for the full transition to be made, but in the interim there will be more Intel based MACs coming. which yeah talk about it's going to be hard to convince anyone to invest in one of those. Also I wonder how long apple will end up committing to supporting? Those Intel MACs, finally they announced that all of the S.'s will be in Dev. Beta today, public Beta next month and will be out to customers in the fall. Just checking my notes here to see anything that I missed Iowa's fourteen. We'll be compatible with older iphones going back to the original iphone, se and the IPHONE, six S and six plus. Back on the privacy tip, apple is making it super easy for you. See the Personal Info that APPs are requesting via a new privacy nutrition label. Also they added the ability to share just approximate location data with APPs instead of your actual location data. There was no one more thing. There were no hardware announcements, and so there you go, we'll dig more into what people thought about all this tomorrow, and of course on the weekend bonus episode, but that was ww DC twenty twenty. DC News as well, but I got to mention this real quick about three hours before ww. DC kicked off. It came out that apple had officially approved. Hayes email APP since it had been updated with small tweaks to bring it in line with apple's APP store guidelines. Still has no in-app purchases or sign ups, so the workaround went like this quoting Neil Patel, in the verge. Basecamp isn't done with the fight. The company has submitted a new version of Hey that meets the strict letter of apples rules, but clearly defies their spirit. The company will now offer IOS users a free temporary. Hey, email account with a randomized address just so the APP is functional. When it is I opened. These burner accounts will expire after fourteen days. Hey is also now able to work with enterprise customers as apple initially took issue with the APPS consumer focus. Hey has not adopted. Apple's own in-app. in-app payment system or allowed users to sign up for its full paid service through the IOS APP. Instead users will still need to subscribe by going directly to Hayes website. It remains to be seen whether these changes will thread the needle to apple satisfaction, but base camp is clearly betting that apple will have to allow future versions of the APP now that it does something on launch. We're going to take Phil Schiller on his word here basecamp CTO David Hammer. Hanson tells me the chief complaint was that you download the APP and it doesn't work even though lots of apps work like that and quote. On Twitter D. H. H himself, said the following to make all this happen. Our team has been working the weekend. It wasn't how I would have liked to spend father's day, but if finding a truce with apple now meant avoiding years of grueling litigation, it seemed like a worthy trade huge. Thanks to everyone at base camp for this. The Hey, launch has exceeded our wildest dreams. It took US almost five months to get to thirty thousand people interested. Interested it took one week to get to one hundred thousand, and that's people who were so interested that they'd send email with a story poem or note. It's mind blown. Emoji but I'm not going to pop the champagne just yet. We firmly believe we did what Phil Schiller asked us to do. But apple still holds all the power. All we can do now is pray that feverishly working. The father's Day weekend is enough to appease apple and quote. You might have seen this over the weekend, but I think it's worth mentioning even if a lot of folks have been expressing their doubts ever since. Tic Tac users and K pop fans claim that they combined forces to register thousands of tickets for president. Trump's really on Saturday and Tulsa Oklahoma contributing to wet look to be lower than expected turn out as none of those tiktok users and K pop fans actually showed up quoting the Great Taylor Lawrence and company in the New York Times after the trump campaign's official account at team, trump posted a tweet asking supporters to register for free. Many users deleted their posts after twenty four to forty eight hours in order to conceal their plan and keep it from spreading into the mainstream Internet. Quote the majority of people who made them deleted them after the first day because we didn't want the trump campaign to catch wind Mr Daniel said, these kids are smart and they thought of everything and quote. Emarketer is confirming that it expects Google's use ad revenue to decline in twenty twenty for the first time since it started tracking such things in two thousand eight. Turns out. Google relies pretty pretty heavily on the travel industry for ADS quoting the wall. Street Journal the biggest single carpet. Here is the travel industry which has been both hardest hit by the pandemic generally, and has concentrated spending on Google in the past, said Nicole Paran principal analysts at emarketer we have already heard statements for major travel companies like expedia that normally spend billions of dollars on Google. Mostly on search, they are pulling back spending on Google and search, and that will continue for the rest of this year and quote travel represented about eleven percent of search ad revenue in twenty, nineteen Needham analyst Laura Martin estimated expedia which owns brands such as travelocity orbitz and. has historically been one of Google searches, biggest advertisers according to data from the advertising research. Company Kantar on an earnings call in May expedia CEO Peter, Kern said the pandemic offered the company and quote opportunity of an entire reset on its traditionally search heavy advertising spending expedia has warned its investors that a risk of the company is the way Google has launched travel products in recent years that compete directly with its largest advertising partners, and then uses its search function to drive users to its own products. Quote as we waited back in were able to be more precise, be more constrained, watch and learn and grow into it and not just dive back in head first and. Back to the levels we were at, he said. Emarketer also pointed to Amazon another search spender pulling back its search spending sharply pandemic hit, as it struggled to fulfill orders and quote. Yeah, if travel continues to be depressed and then if say I don't know Amazon and ebay decided to pull back on their keyword advertising. Google might actually be in real trouble, right? One of the underappreciated things about the big tech blogs is how reliant they often are on each other in weirdly incestuous ways for example. I was reading an article this morning. That reminded me that apple still gets around ten billion dollars a year in revenue from Google Finally today Bloomberg is reporting that Nintendo. is reconsidering the tiny tow- that stuck into the waters of developing smartphone games? Why turns out the success of animal crossing has made Nintendo re get religion about the strength of its own platforms quoting Bloomberg. Nintendo President Shintaro for our proclaimed two years ago, that smartphone games would be a one billion dollar business with growth, potential building on his predecessors promise that Nintendo would release two to three mobile titles each year that spurred hopes among investors that the gaming powerhouse could carve out a substantial slice of the market in May. However, the president adopted a markedly different tune, saying quote, we are not necessarily looking to continue releasing many new applications for the mobile market and quote. Nintendo's shares slid four percent the day after that remark, close observers. Observers might have sense. INTENDO was growing disillusioned with the mobile round. Even earlier it smartphone games project was born out of necessity to shore up the bottom line amid the we use failure now writing a surge in switch, popularity and investor confidence the Kyoto based company appears to have reassessed the mobile business and narrowed its focus to its own console ecosystem, Nintendo's animal, crossing mobile APP saw a forty five percent uptick in earnings as the switch game was released percents or towers data, but the company doesn't find the square INEX- model appealing. Unlike game studios who have to pay a platform fee whether on console or mobile Nintendo has a strong incentive to focus all gamer spending on its own platform where it doesn't have to share revenue, its goal is to send customers from smartphones to consoles, not the other way around Nintendo's dimmed enthusiasm for smartphone. Games is driven not only by disappointing revenues and unsatisfying monetization options, but also by the limitations of the platform the company believes its franchises shine brightest when coupled with designed by Nintendo controllers, and it's never been fully comfortable with the touch screen, only interface of a phone new smartphone games will come, but it's very likely these will just be Alabama releases to appease shareholders. One analyst wrote and quote. Nothing to share since getting this out, the door is the priority talk to you, tomorrow.

It's i think america's gonna end like the reservoir dogs where everybody's just accusing everybody of a fascist and everyone just dies young. I mean it's pretty aware. Fascism is actually read a lot about it. Yeah fit the mold but it could be a fascist. This could be a fascist podcast. This is what we've been preaching the whole time. Yeah well we do fascist week when they do fashion week. That's what we do here. That's right a whole new. Nineteen eighty one a year of our lord. Jesus christ james cameron. Oh damn i know jaycee hazo creative one since late. It is peter. Kern was a thirty four year old nursing home Living in ohio. Okay and a nine hundred eighty one. He bought a minor league california baseball team. Okay that's just you know the these. Have the baseball. Have a track record lot a lot of stuff going on swapping d- rock-throwing firetruck chasing. There can be a lot in a basement one invented. that's right. The san jose missions were bought for sixty five thousand dollars. The san jose missions as the name of the team. That is a clunky. I already have a note for the team for the. It's called the missions. Are they going to be like as christian baseball team. No no he just bought. The is preposterous okay. I don't like it. We're the missions. It's the journeys is terrible. Name terrible day. We're the maps with zehr francisco maps so the team signed a date very quickly signed a player development contract with the montreal. Expos of major league. Baseball montreal's a team that plays in the top biggest league the pros so they have them. Yeah so they're going to now be what's known as a forum team this means. They'll help to develop young astro player. So it's like kids are just starting out or guys that are working on stuff. Yeah people aren't ready for. The expos are now part of the missions offense right so they're no longer called. They're no longer called after. They're no longer called the missions. Now they're the san jose expos look better so i'll explain how this works for their so. There's major league. Baseball teams h. Each major league. Baseball team has a bunch of lower teams playing below it where they have players. They hope are going to turn into major league baseball players. And there's three levels there's aaa there's double a. and there's a aaa the best and the down at the very bottom. There are the teams scrappers. The new kids rob players. This is the level of the san jose expos. Okay so kern hired. Harry stav renos to be the team general manager so he makes all those citizens he runs the team. He's not just to coach. He's the guy who does all the the players and does all this stuff is he also the coach. No he's not the he's just the jim. Okay so harry's cigar smoke in twenty six year old dude. He had hit a bit of experience. Working in baseball with the miami amigos and the macon peaches sure absolutely pages only beaches. Miami friends a friends. Oh good to meet you. Yes what are you doing this weekend. Oh you must come to. The house just passed wife. Good to meet you so much about you. Gosh you have to come to this house this week. We have a party wherever because swimming party. I'm on everyone. The peaches will be there. It's going to be quite a weekend. You are not going anywhere until you shake his hand friend. Do we even need to play the game. I feel like it's just a waste of everybody's time let's prayed each other's hair. Let's make bracelets. I love it. Hey so here. He doesn't know a lot about baseball. One player said quote. He reminded me of the guy who started the gong show. Wow that it's terrible. That is the sense in the way that i mean. Well okay. If you art twenty-six cigars it i mean. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. I know it happens but to me it. It's i feel like you graduate to cars this to me. It feels like a child trying to be a businessman one hundred percent. Yeah you know so so. The team is not good. They had a sixty six and seventy four record in nineteen ninety-two media in san. Jose doesn't pay attention fans. Don't go at one point. Harry gave out thirty thousand free tickets to local businesses and only one hundred twenty were used so there's not a lot of demands my god. It's just a big city and thing like a minor league team is not what people get excited about so sure. Clearly after that season the expos pull out of the deal so there without a major league team so they become that means. They're an independent club. They're not anything any now. they're just like we are just looking for. We're basically just going town to town looking for games. Well known now that they can be in a league but they're just not they're just not associated with the team which means no money number one. You're not getting money. You have to make all your money off of tickets and no upside for player prospects. That's right. it's really hard to sign players. It's it's basically really hard to survive without a major contract so they chain kernan. Harry change the name of the team to the san jose better really ferry fills everyone with fear right away by the. I didn't put that but this is right around the time of the killer bees fear. I wonder if that's the it really shows you how one word changes the whole team name. The killer bees. That's a bad ass name bs on. What are you guys gonna do. Put honey on my cereal. Let's go so because the money problems they're trying to figure it out. So kern least the bees harry for twenty five thousand dollars so he carries the beekeeper. Yes areas the beekeeper so now hairy is posing as the owner. He pays the bills but he can also keep the prophets but he's not the owner and this according to harry was quote totally illegal. It's right there in the national association blue book. They're breaking the rules of baseball immediately. It's completely illegal to do right. So using connections. Harry made a deal with a japanese professional baseball team. Okay the cyber lions what the what the lines did was they sent five players and twenty five thousand dollars to cover the players costs and then in one thousand nine hundred eighty three eighty four. That went up to fifty thousand dollars a year. The bees finish in last place in a. I'm sorry not threatening it is. It's not great. It's it's not threatening. So they finished the san jose moss the finishing last place in eighty three hundred. Forty five okay. America is in the ronald reagan drug war hysteria year's best us. We've had nancy. Reagan is pushing her ridiculous. Just say no campaign. Which if you don't know what it is. It means that we just tell children not drugs. It worked dares very active in california kids to try drugs that campaign work for me. Well it certainly helped us with marijuana that stuff as people deserve life sentences for that anyway after his success running the olympics in nineteen eighty-four peter ueberroth became the major league baseball commissioner. Okay so you breath. You don't know he's he was. He was like the savior of the eighty-four olympics. But he's actually a total right wing douchebag so he decided to crack down on drugs in baseball hard. Every employee in baseball was randomly drug tested from the owners to the secretaries to the bad boys except for the players. Can i make sense because if that boy not in if the bat boys are on drugs people are going to get the wrong bats. That's players are on drugs nobody cares. That's correct. Nobody pays attention to the players. Perfect perfect system. We want drugs out of these. Athletes are tested. Everybody who's been around him. So cocaine was big with the players. We we talked about this in the pittsburgh. Pirates episode. Tim raines was doing great player. Played for montreal. Was doing coke in the dugout bathroom. During games kept cocaine in his back pocket and he was known for sliding i the reason he started sliding headfirst into bases was because he didn't want his cocaine to come out or the bag to break in his pocket. Now now people probably are like. How do you know when you have a cocaine problem when it changes your sliding form. How hard is it to get another pocket or put it in the dugout log on you. Are you doing lines on like out there. Let's meet at second base. And we'll do above lonnie smith when the team would travel. He got socks. That had pockets in them so you can put his coke in his pockets. Churn the sockets no problem. Great the pittsburgh pirates cocaine scandal had blown up in one thousand nine hundred five. They were now testifying. In court cases other players are being arrested and suspended for doing coke so ueberroth said of major league baseball. We're gonna remove drugs and be an example so he spends a bunch of players and other players who were suspected of doing coke were forced to take drug tests. Basically word got out to stay away from these players teams. Don't sign these guys okay. So all these players are marked hairy sees this as an opportunity for the sounds. Ap's my why did why. Why do i sometimes just float along. And i'm just like okay. Yeah so there's a bunch of people cut well. They're on the blacklist. Okay yeah we're all of course take a budget co kids to the bees these bees make honey they snort lines so steve. How was a top top baseball player with a serious cocaine. Problem been rookie of the year. Nineteen eighty he won a world series and then in nine hundred ninety one. He tried blow a year later. He was spending a thousand dollars. Dan cocaine oh my god he was doing it in the bullpen during games. So if you don't know what. That is the pitcher. Sit out in the outfield and wait until they get called in so. He's just sitting with the other pitchers he's doing below in in one thousand nine hundred eighty two. He came out and publicly announced that he had a cocaine problem and he was going to rehab so did that he did that. It's actually be have be happy. That's right by nine hundred thousand five. He had been in rehab four times. Sure the dodgers had cut him from their team and then the twins cut him he. He was at this point. Twenty eight years old and working as a radio. Dj in montana. Sure yep logically. Easy to see how that happened. So harry flew out. There you're going to be are more than pitcher. So harry flew out there. How two thousand dollars a month. How said no because he was expecting major league teams to common an offer. He's still he could still pitch this guy. He's twenty eight. In his prime none came he went to. He went to the winter meetings. No one would talk to him so he's clearly been blackballed so he takes. He's been aires offer. Yes he's been so he takes. Harry's offer news makes front page of the san jose. mercury news harry quote. I knew then we were on our way so finally. They're getting just attention in san jose but also nationwide whenever steve. How did something of his point. It was news. So how is now living in a hotel under a fake name and san jose okay now these blackballed players. They have two choices. They can play another country or they can play for an independent team. But there's no other option the lions needed player so there were only two independent teams. They miami marlins in the san jose bees after how signs other players start collaring. Harry mike norris made it to the big leagues nine hundred seventy five. When he was twenty. That was huge. Amphetamine in mlb. The first day there was a speed pill his locker for him to take before the game shows and he didn't know what it was just threw it out players if they didn't take speed and they played the other players called that playing naked. So that's how common that's how common speed was. It's just crazy to assume that. Someone's going to take like your professional athlete geared. The whole thing is that your body already seems like it's on speed but the idea that your interventions are for the people who aren't like you know we understand we saw you out there today playing naked and we just a little concerned. Obviously one of us we're trying to get across to you. Is that the team works. A lot of it's like a body like we're all pieces in this body and we all together form a super body and that's a we're really going for but the idea that you're not putting a little speed in your body before that makes us all a little worried. Honestly i mean look at us. We're kind of freak it out a little bit. But the fact that you're yawning right now is not good. I've been played five. Double headers is still not talking yet. And i still have not had. I haven't even blinked. I don't even blink anymore. I just put drops in it. Sorta like clockwork origin around the clubhouse over time that's the way i'm rolling right now. We're all rolling like that a little bit but again the idea that we see a speed bill in your locker then. We see people in the garbage. It's not a good indicator that you're a b. and what we do is be flapping wings a bunch and that's metaphorical but it's also literal. Because if you think about it we do have weeks. I mean we're all angels in anaheim angels los angeles angels angels on earth right. Where angels in the outfield. That ms movies eddie. Movie in birmingham and yet. I don't even know but the point. Can you get the little like a knife. Gripe them the thought froth inside of my mouth here like are they use to froth ails back in the day in the old west. You ever see a movie. Do you like movies. Kurt russell a hell of an act. That felt kilmer's pretty good too nostrils hurt. Oh my body hurts. All of our bodies hurt. Listen kemira hugged me. Bring it bring three. We're going to speed one-two-three speak. It's midnight summit takeoff midnight already. I didn't realize crazy caution prospects hours. Well how about this. How about this get on my back. I'll run your home could be problem. I don't need. I'll run right through those walls right there. We'll go out that way. I don't know how far away you live. But if you're under forty miles. I can get you in there. Twenty minutes so north very first game in the major leagues. He threw a three hit shutout very very rare. He's very good years later. He finally try speed. He's the second best pitcher in baseball in nineteen eighty in nineteen eighty two. He tried smoking cocaine a so that just takes off the soon. He's connected to a drug dealer and kansas city who exchanges blow for baseball memorabilia. Shir sure as a manager that table here we have a car demand card table here a little while ago. Franklin's your locker your whole lockers gone yeah. I don't know just kind of put my stuff in this pile wasn't sure. Hey guys bradley bats. there's not a. there's not a bad where we bats all right. Look we don't have any pets but we do have balls with two balls to balls break. Doesn't have a locker it's fine things are just. We probably don't remember where we put it last and know what happened the uniforms. Oh i point that out of the uniforms are gone. So we're gonna wear sheets that we've put mark by nineteen thousand five. Norris had gone to rehab five times so no teams will offer him anything as offer from a contract. But it's for it's for the miners and he's insulted. He turns it down and finds out no one else will offer him anything so he gets arrested in the dominican republic for having pot on him he gets to. Du is he's arrested for doing coke in a motel so he's really hitting fucking skits right he's blackballed from baseball. Harry offer him a contract. Daryl sc owners had been considered the next big thing reggie jackson one of the all time. Great players called called scone years quote. Maybe even a better pure hitter than build matlock skirt started smoking crack in one thousand nine hundred five. He didn't show up to the anaheim. Angels spring training seventeen days when he did. He admitted he had a drug problem again. He came out on his own. Look i have a problem. I need help right. He told the press. He goes to rehab. His family stop speaking to wife. Divorces baseball pushes him out. The angels released him a year later. You broth named him as a player who would always be drug tested and no one would sign him so once. You're on that fucking list. That uber cup. That's it right. It's a black ball except for the really great guys to keith hernandez who get suspended for year and then get to keep playing baseball forever. There's a very top tier guys get to do whatever the fuck they want. Sorta three and then other guys are being punished. Yeah it's it's. It's not great. So when ken writes i went to the saint louis cardinals clubhouse in one thousand nine hundred he could not believe it quote cigarettes chewing tobacco candy gum. A cooler full of beer. It was it was it was as if baseball promoted being a degenerate. Love gums on their. He's like gum own. What's next sunflower. seeds for. Eighty rights is an amazing fielder. Golden glove nine hundred seventy five and nineteen seventy seven. He said in major league baseball record for fewest errors by a third baseman. They nicknamed the sam bony cleaned. Everything up oh boy. Well that was yeah also took a lot of snow in nineteen seventy eight. He was in the locker room and the guy next to him pulled out a vial in rights asked what it was. The guy said co quote. Let me try that and off. he went. I can't believe. I can't believe how after school specially these moments really are like like like film films in school would make me think how it would happen. You know would be like this. It's cocaine do you want to try some and i'd be like i will try some of your cocaine like it's just seems very sterile scripted. It is it's totally one hundred percent. It has that feel and they all have that story of. What is that is cocaine. Do you want to ruin your life. It yes. I tried to ruin my life. Some of that So he he. He moves around from team to team in chicago. He met the same guy who traded memorabilia for drug so this guy's all over major league baseball the memorabilia guy. Nice jacket you wanna line writes. That guy got hooked on pills. So he's taken everything has marriage ends. He drinks all the time one day in chicago. After eight. two day speed binge. He was driving and he thought a stranger was hiding in his backseat. Jot out about a shotgun and just started shooting the car. Jesus christ you mentioned seeing that there'd be amazing to see my jacket what how do i. What should i mark this on ways. It says there. I would just construction. Just do construction or vehicle pulled off to the side so rights goes to rehab but his career is tells no one no one wants him and then his dad mentioned the san jose and rights became the oldest player on the bees. And the captain quote. Harry was the all queen. Harry was the only one in all of baseball willing to give me a fourth second chance. Well yeah when rights got there. He started calling the team. The bad news bees and the stock. Okay and there's other bees with substance abuse issues darrell. Thomas had been part of the pirates coke seen todd. Cruz was an alcoholic who played for sixteen six years. They're also a bunch of younger players trying to make it and there's the five japanese guy so it's kinda crazy those five japanese guys like american drunks just from my sampling alone. A lot of drugs and in japan. If you're a college pot like you go to jail like. There's there haley strict. So it's this weird right on one of the very first long road. Trips rights taught the japanese players the song jingle bells and how to say cow six pack hulk hogan and blowing up my god media corruption the important things. Yeah what an amazing list things to do right away. I'm gonna look it's culture shock for these guys so the baby steps. I'm going to teach about jingle bells of what getting your dick suck means in the bag. So mike is like a team favorite. Everybody loves him. he's funny he's gonna infectious laugh. The guys would tease him about his his. Co. problem a reliever once asked norris quote d ever go through the drive through of a fast food restaurant and just order a straw and norris would just fucking laugh at these things. He thought they were very funny but nurses also always late because he kept having to go to the irs. The dmv in court and his license was suspended so he couldn't drive okay so that was being late for everything so he asked harry to sign a career. Minor league guy. Who had a car named kenny foster. Kenny hadn't played baseball a year but did own an old green dented buick. That he nicknamed bess. Wait he is getting him to sign a player because he has a car. yes well. that's a pretty low bar. I was year to its a week. Can he hit not really pitchers. Not good fast slow. What's the upset. It's got a green car outside. This man harry signs of we'd like to give you a car at number two. The manager was frank verity who had jumped around baseball for years. He had only one shot in the majors. The yankees called him up on may tenth nineteen fifty-three he played in the outfield and he was sent into pitch hit the other team when he came up to bat switch pitchers and the manager took him out before he saw one pitch. That was his only major league at bat. Oh after i was dropped. He didn't even have a taste. Someone just like put it front of him and he tried to bite it and then they took it away fantasy. It's like they were like what's it like to set foot on a major league ball and has a feeling that you're about to swing. I've cracking out of the ballpark. Where you come down for an extra five hundred dollars that experience. That feel like the saturday wrigley field fail what. It's like to almost be a baal. Bland parents maybe were there. Oh shitty skin who stepped up to bat. He's up to bed how he's up to bat boys about the bat. They switched to pitcher guy. Did he's going to be able to hit a lot easier for this guy. I tell ya not taken about. Oh wait up bit backup later. A so very agrees to be the team manager but five days before training camp the yankees offer him a job to be a scout and he takes that and quits the be great. Okay so hairy. I don't have any fucking money. And i'll just manage the team so he knows nothing about managing but he's now going to manage the team. Okay at the beginning of training. This is how big it was that all these players have been signed right. The press is going crazy for it. It's so big that a. Cbs news helicopter parking lot of the stadium. Because everybody is coming to see this team that is full of these players that used to be great all got drummed out of baseball because drugs that just also seems like news team ego. We've got the man. The news is breaking so hard. we need chopper. The london news came rolling stone. New york times los angeles times philadelphia daily news washington post. They all send reporters to see the misfits this band of misfits and the bees lean into it a reporter asked how if the b.'s. Actually bad news. And how said quote if that's what we were we'd paint the team bus in black and put fuck me on the front of it. Excuse me i'm sorry. Sorry i think about the rugs. Plays fuck meal. The front of the baz. The first day of the reporters there norris rights. How in on yours put on bandannas to look like outlaws posed for pictures okay. The picture made it on the front page of usa. Today's sports section of norris frisks. Thomas the outfield wall. I was winning into the wall for other pictures. Like they're leaning right. yeah the parking. The parking lot is full of fancy cars. Harry quote mercedes porsche. Problem was they went nowhere. A lot of the guys couldn't drive them because they all had their licenses suspended. So those are the player cars. Yeah these guys. All made money playing major league baseball. It's just looks like you're opened mercedes dealership because they can never leave the kid drive them right okay shirt. Of course i mean they're signing players based on the fact that they have active licenses. So that's the part on the players could drive to this one. He doesn't hit either and then on the other side of the spectrum. You know it's the minor league so this who have no fucking money whatsoever like disappeared thirty four year old a thirty four year old pitcher is sleeping in his van that he would drive in park in a stadium tunnel every night. Oh my god dr. So he wrote around on a girls. Twelve speed bike. What what and he lived in the stadium utility room with two other players. He this a come on. It couldn't afford a boy's bike. Utility room had beds was sleeping bags on top of them. A hot water heater a black and white tv. Six broken stadium chairs and carpet. They had taken out of a dumpster. Mehan core sign led zeppelin poster and a washing machine. I'll tell you what the it sounds a lot better than i thought it would. Kinda got most of the things you need. Let me considering. We are in america. A lot of people like fuck. I take that right now. Yeah machine solely on the unit. Well the reason they had the washing machine in there was because it was utility room so the players to everyone deadline their their rent was doing the teams lottery every morning. Oh god and my guess is not great laundry. There was no bathrooms. So they pete outside. The bees called it the stadium helton. It's under a grandstand. So it has the pattern of a grandstand on the roof. You know when you're under one. Roommate had been a private detective in atlanta for the previous two years he hadn't played in eight years. He was so bad he was cut after five games. The third roommate was daryl. See us who looked exactly like jimmy buffett where the parents they see us once had a sporting news cover photo of rights on his wall so he's literally rooming with a guy that used to idolize who was on the front cover of sporting. Yes if you'd told me we'd be living in a utility closet together. I said that's madness. He had been a decent job. Mlb player but was cut to make room for younger guys as a two months later as came back looking for because they had a bunch of injuries but no one knew where he was. How to get ahold actually would have brought it back on the team but he had no idea and find him. Yeah no one had us number. It was all the well you shouldn't. You shouldn't have your private investigator. So see us was an artist. He painted the sponsors names on the outfield walls. The bees logo on the team bus and inside of the stadium hilton door. He painted charlie manson. Jesus christ what is going on. He said he wasn't a fan of manson. But this is just a convert. This was just a conversation starter. Boy howdy was it. You couldn't find. Many people didn't want to know why al-majd of charles manson on your door see us was also known to put on a superman cape and the outfield wall and he would play golf in the outfield rich. Just like superman. He told the reporter quote. They tell you you're not supposed to take the game home with you but that's tough to do when you live at the ballpark fair fair. By the way what a as far as proximity to your job just can't beat it. Go people packing their bags like ibm there. So opening night was exactly what harry expected. Five thousand fans came out. Huge turnout. The preseason they would get an average of seven hundred so the team warmed up was throwing incredibly fast. Just firing the ball. One of the younger players was just like i. This is amazing. How fast as guy can throw. But he was a little too hard because he immediately blew out his arm. Shit writes quote. Couldn't throw the ball back to the pitcher after that. Oh god steve howe was still as good as he had been in the majors. Big league scouts came to see him pitch. He's the star of the team. Harry would bring him to luncheons to meet businessman in san jose and how would charm the shit out of him harry quote. Everything was more fun with him. He even made the most routine events fund he had a magnetic personality. And that's why he got nine chances or how ever many he got. Let's face it. If he were a jerk nobody would have wanted to help But the guys who had had previous problem with drugs how in a completely different light rights thought he was a smart ass and rub players wrong way quote. He acted like he didn't have a problem. He was in and out of treatment about twenty five times and he's walking around like nothing happened. You can't do that. You need to support group so these guys are also acting like this. Is the kind of stuff you here in a room right there support community also so right like a sponsor of some kind. But he's yeah okay. I mean i guess it is. It is just one of those weird things. You would probably never think of what you're putting this team together like. Oh yeah they're going to critique each other's sobriety because they all have been through so so much yeah so Oh so norris norris it how was a con man. He wants talk norris's mother into making him a soul food dinner which she brought to the ballpark and then how did not show up quote. He charmed her like a snake. Those demons he just never shook. Wow so there's two sides to sleep. How would you get a lot with addiction. Like there's a some people ever charming personality but then you get the dark side so you know it can be fairly common. Ceus painted a mural on the door of the stadium along black ribbon with home of the bad news bees and a swarm of bees coming out of a hive. Each players signed the mural so every player on the merrill near the very bottom is the name rooster. Sure of course every every team needs a rooster roosters not player rooster was a sky. A okay and it was just hanging around and of course rooster. Most hanging around with how rooster has a mohawk. No one knew what he did. Or what is actual name was. Hey norris quote. I stayed away from rooster. He looked like an egregious character. He didn't look like anybody i wanted to know. And i'm from the street. A rooster was giving cocaine. Steve how i had a feeling Right okay writes. Quote rooster would show up and then stephen disappear for three days and everybody covered for them family. Emergency whatever but he's still had great stuff still at great. So what does he mean. Great stuff like great ability. Really good pitch. He's a really good pitcher but it could have been either way. Yes rooster because he keeps you up. The first week of the season harry had a san jose cop come and talk to the players about avoiding trouble in san jose. Sure at one point. The cop said quote. There's this bar. Pj's it's on market about four blocks in the stadium if there's one place in town you don't wanna go. Whoa who cop. What is he doing. That is the worst way to. What does it mean. Honestly there's a place where you can party. I'm going to tell you where it is and how to get there now. Easy it is to go in. That's what you don't wanna go gentlemen. Let's exactly what he did three days later. Harry is driving the restaurant. Pj's let's go there. And i saw basically. Everyone of their cars was in the parking lot that that was their hang up for the rest of the year. I'd damage the cubs. Just that would like a pizza hut wild. Don't you guys go to that. Pizza hut on fifth. That is a wild pizza a couple of weeks into the season foster in norris so they keep coming late still even though he got the car right and got foster on the team. They're sticking to be honest. You're gonna be pretty pissed off if you signed a player just for his car and it has not relieved. The situation hasn't helped at all. It has not one bit. You know what. I think we need to do is hire a watchman for the driver. Dad what just signed another guy who can't play to watch the driver who drives me so norris keeps missing starts like he's supposed to start pitching on the day. He comes a couple of minutes for the game and they have to have someone else pitch right so they a couple weeks and they come late again. He's got a case of the dell's that's right. Harry calls foster and his office and he cuts. He cuts foster. Okay so norris comes on right after. And he tells harry. That foster is one of the biggest gangsters in oakland. He's like did you just cut one of the baddest mother fuckers on earth. I mean this is making like talent decisions. Well you'd better stop now. This is not remotely true okay. He's just telling you that. Okay the next day foster came back to harry's office and he's crying quote. My mama told me to come in apologize to you and to pray to the lord that you'll take me back and he promised harry he would always be on time. So harry took foster back two weeks into the season they head to fresno for their first away games now in baseball play like twelve games at home and then you hit the road and you play against like three teams over another twelve days and come comeback or whatever nineties. So it's the first road trip. Harry has norris as the first starter in the first game. You would be very first start even though he missed like three but once again foster arrived late in best so all the plans are on the bus and they drive up and best. And they're laying that game fifteen hundred fans in fresno to watch but seconds into the first pitch it starts to rain and they keep playing in the rain. It's muddy. it's terrible but the seventh inning. There were twenty three fans left. Eight of them were drunk and topless one came all the way down near where the field is behind the plate and yelled quote. Hey how you're a douche bag. A real douchebag real fucking douche bag and then he dumped a full beer over his head how just sat quietly in the dugout. I'm so things have changed since the majors. Yeah that access. Like can't believe i get to polar bear on this gap zone reported on his own head better at as the moves of drug at a game on the way back the way back to san jose after the after the road trip. The team bus passes something burning on the side of the road. It was best well. That's the card caught on fire what they keep driving at about a mile down the road. Norris and foster are walking on the highway. I mean this. This is what you signed for the car right. Yeah i mean who this is. This is crazy. This is such a management that the prospect the idea of signing a person because they have a car is crazy. And then the idea of not. Being like yeah. No you had one job. And that's to drive him. I mean you need to have a short leash on this role. It's very replaceable. Role it's yeah. It really is well foster bought a new car. He bought a new not the solution. No a new foster is what you need constantly late. So he warns them one last time and then one day norris does even show up and and harry cuts both of them. Like you're both fucking done fostered played a total of five games. Norris had not thrown one pitch the whole time he was there. It's like two or three weeks in the press. Asked harry if it was due to drugs and harry made it very clear. It was not drugs attitudes. So besides packing out san jose stadium hairy really thought the roster of all these well-known sort of misfit players with problems would packed out stadiums on the road. He thought wherever they went. There'd be tons of fans right but the cocaine problems in baseball we're upsetting the fans. And with the hyper sort of drug away government message coming out. People are mad so crowds on their over small and they were angry at the players writes quote. We'd go into these towns like bakersfield and there'd be signs across the road we don't want these drug addicts these degenerate players by now. Harriet actually changed. He originally signed these guys to win games and to bring in fans right but then he gets to know them quote once. I got to know these guys. I took a personal interest. I'd like to see these guys. Beat the system and forget about their pass and go on from here so he gets to know them and what was originally. Just a financial decision is now. I want these guys to successional vestment. Yeah he's got up at the forum so after norris and foster left the team gets hot starts to win the move up to second place house on fire. And he's passing his drug tests in mid-may the presidents of the san francisco giants and the toronto blue jays. Were coming to a game just to watch how pitch okay so by the time it gets there that means the scouts have seen him and now the head guys are coming to get one final. Look it means he's legitimately got a real shot right. And if anybody got signed how harry would take a huge cut like fifty percent of the money upfront money or whatever. It was planning so the the game. The president of the nasa national association which oversees the miners calls and says house latest drug tests had a discrepancy untold. Harry he could not pitch that night. So harry didn't understand why he he didn't say he flunked the test and describe what he didn't know what discrepancy meant and he's pissed because it took thirteen days to get the result of the drug test so he thinks something's really fucked up right because you can get the drug test overnight. Sure so harry. Harry told how not to come to st amigos. You're not dressing tonight. Just stay at the hotel but this is this huge night and then harry starts thinking it over. And he's like discrepancy discrepancy. Fuck it and he calls. How at the hotel at six fifteen pm. Forty five minutes for the start and tells them to come pitch the next morning. Harry was suspended for two weeks while baseball because house test was positive. Okay how quote. I've used nothing. I have no involvement with drugs. Since i've been here zero none. I think it's conspiracy to keep me at a baseball uber. Office barred how from playing pro baseball. So they lose their best player. Team falls apart quickly sinks back down to last place do you was was he using. Do you know we'll get back to that. Okay now at this point either. Norris came to apologize or harry called him up the way. The team needs a great pitcher. Norris is still a great pitcher. He's back on the bees. You just gotta sign my buddy who drive me okay. This time i got a guy who's got a bicycle again. I know this guy's got a wheelbarrow with perfect now. The japanese players said they're not in a drugs they have this amazing work ethic. They're working out all the time. They don't speak english probably for the best had come with a pitcher good. Come with them from the seibu. Lions from okay. So there's this japanese pitching coach. He also served as chaperone their driver acupuncturist and disciplinarian. That's fucking great little. Swiss army knife funny makes sense though when you think about it like a minor league coach. He's got all these different hats. Yeah i love these also acupunctures. Well they were probably like this is really helpful. Actually so just routine. Mistakes brought fucking screaming from this japanese coach. Wow and often slaps on the face like a grown man sir. One player was slapped for talking on the phone writes quote he would lined guys up and in japanese he would scream at them and slap them in the face and tell them how how horses they were. It was interesting how they did it. A royal quote one time. What are the japanese players struck out. And he threw his helmet not hard. He just tossed it. They called him into the office and they made him stand there in front of the coach and they slapped him. People actively doing cocaine on this team and the guy drops elbit get slapped. Shit like you just wouldn't fly anymore but man what a time when the team but the slap a coach yeh slap slap you like what you do it will slap you right across the mouth no questions asked. This is obviously in stark contrast to the american players one lap. So much here is that you're gonna fight. I don't know about a japan but here we don't hit him as much. We've been slapping the players. We hit them like that. Like one day scone borrowed rights is twelve. Speak bike to go to the store and he did not come back for three days per come on what he did. He told rights he had seen a car drive by it. He just knew the people inside had cracks so he rode the bike six miles chasing them down. Apparently they had crack. He didn't come back. Wait wait wait. I'm sorry this is right. No you need more crazy so he went missing for three days because he borrowed a bike and on the bike he just had like his cracks. Spidey sense go up and he just knew. There was cracking a car. And so he on pedal crack chased his gut instinct was right and therefore he missed three days just to smoking. Crack because of his hunch. That's right his crack either way. He must have gotten crack because he was gone for three days. Right sure yeah. I mean you're going to get the shit slapped out. If ekka pike gotta crack run one day they were getting ready for a road trip and they were. The players are all coming to meet the bus in the parking lot and they had a young player nicknamed throw baby. He pulled up in the parking lot to get on the bus. He opened his car door and just fell out rolled onto the ground. His face was covered and scrapes and he was bleeding. Harry asked him what happened in throw. Babies said he had been jumped. Harry quote who knows. They fixed them up and got him on the bus. I bet you that slapped coach. Slap coaches beat. the shit out of a japanese slap. Coach is just another day in the life of the bees. I right well this one. Let's roll them in. Get them on the bus. Come on guys. We're going to weekend bernie in behind home plate. The team went to bakersfield on a road trip. While harry was suspended norris actually arrived on time and started the fourth string catcher. Used chalk from the line to make what looked like four lines of coke on the pitching rubber god so he walks out to the mound and on this little white strip. There's a lot of what looks allies coke and norris fucking laughs his ass off. He just thinks it's so funny and he's not anymore not libor harry's in the bleachers watching the game and he's wearing a shirt so local drunk siham and they start heckling and it gets worse as the game goes on share the bees here it on the field and they tell the guys to stop but the guys keep at it and after a little while they start making threats so when the game ends the bees run over towards the bleachers and climb the wall and a mass starts between a massive brawl ties between the bees the drunk fans and the security guards two security guards or hurt. Harry is under his eye. Police have to escort harry and norris to the press box to keep them safe as they do. The crowd is booing in throwing garbage out them at that moment. Harry thought quote. We are on the baseball map. Your badge feed your is bleeding lip back the beezer back i thought it would generate tons of attention as i believe in people out. It would bring people out after the game. Seven bs went to a local bar and the four drunk fans who had started the whole thing were there and they jumped the team's twenty four year old shortstop and broke his jaw. Oh shit now. I searched every newspaper from this time period. I just ice massive search newspapers. The only thing i could find about this event was in a paper was that the shortstop have been attacked on the street and was broken like they were just like he was jumped on the street. Like that was the only so the brawl isn't in their nothing about the fight at the stadium so what was really going on was. The bees weren't really news anymore. The excitement of these jug users coming together on a team had worn off the media came. They wrote stories and then they were gone. Harry thought his team would draw huge crowds. It didn't harry quote. I thought everywhere we went. There'd be three thousand four thousand people every night frankly. I was disappointed. So harry's warned out during the suspension. He decided to step down as manager and he hired to be manager japanese slap on the son of the guy who had left the first manager. Oh okay right okay. Go quick because you've got a different. It's like helpfully abandoning. The job is not genetic. Harry stays on a gym though. He's still working as gm so the players all really like harry. He started out as we said like a guy trying to make a buck but he had empathy norris quote. I love harry. Harry would have said no to me. That would have been the end of my career. The compassionate showed. I'll always love him for that. He was also giving an opportunity to marginal black players. So there's not many black players on the bench in major league. Baseball's mostly just starters and stars but on the bench. All white guys right so heroic. Yeah i mean you gotta make sure people are doing cocaine. That's right so yeah so like one of my favorite players. When i was growing up as a kid was terry whitfield and terry whitfield eventually got older and he was on the bench and so that meant he would just come in to hit a couple times a game or something like that and he was actually a great pinch hitter but the dodgers still cut him because he's again he's a black guy pinch hitters. Were almost all white guys so so he starts signing those guys he also signed ted milner but milner was floundering after thirty two games and harry and to cut him. Miller told harry he had no way to get back to l. after being cut so harry loaned him his car and told them to bring it back whenever he could. How how harry has seen so many immediate seen a bike go missing for three days because of a crack chase and he's like take my car i don't know if he'd give it to a drug i but milner was just like right. Dude played a lot and didn't have a team right. He should have signed a driver to drive them. Yeah we have a budget pinch drivers here too. We have pinch hitters pinch. Drivers harry cited. Mlb player todd cruz. Who had a history of drug problems. He told san jose. Mercury news quote. I went the devils road cocaine and alcohol. So he's still the middle season signing guys. Who are drug is right. Started thinking about his time in rehab when he got straight and became a counselor and that he liked working with young people and so now he's thinking. I could be a really good coach like i know how to workman people at the same time it turns out. He was drinking every single game drunk. Third basement right here. On june twenty-fifth the league cleared steve. How on the cocaine charges and he was reinstated as a player. So that's all that was in the papers dig deal but they just said no. The test was okay and he was back. Okay sure whatever. No explanations given so. He's back on the beach. How was always joking. Around on the team baas. The bus was an old one thousand. Nine hundred thousand nine. Gmc he was known breakdown. Once doing once broke down on a mountain pass. They were going to palm springs and it took two days to fix wolf. One of the things how loved to do on. The buzz was pulled the players nose hairs while they were sleeping. Oh my god. What a horrendous prank. So this is the worst guy on the team. i mean. can you imagine being woken up from the terrible way to wake up. I'd rather the slap coach. It never stopped being amusing steve. How no matter how tiresome it became everyone else lord a lot of good. That's how you can never be like your own just on the fly drug test. It's right rip out their nose hairs if there's little dandruff trip and you're like he would usually sit on a cooler full of beer in the aisle at the front of the bus looking back at the team. He acted as a sobriety was embraced. That's the interesting thing is i. You know it's the eighties. So i don't think they're connecting. Also brian with drug just just drank. But that'll be like there's no okay. We're all sober so we only drink alcohol. I don't drink alcohol. Gm i just drink beer cheese right father i mean do you remember that ad. The the what's it called promo but the played for a while. It was a guy on tv and he was like i said in drink. I didn't. i didn't drink alcohol. But i was drinking three six packs a day. And that's the same thing and you had to explain to people. They have actually had promo to explain to people that drinking three six packs. A day was bad. It's it's probably just trying to unwind years of brand marketing of how acceptable beer-drinking. I don't know it's a testament to how well they've advertised. Movie the terrible way. So he would sit there on the cooler and entertain everybody and but in the july road trip to reno. He was a little quiet and the trips to reno are always super exciting and fun. Everyone was up because they're going to casinos and brothels on this trip. How very very quiet. During one of the games in reno norris was pitching any waved rights over from third base to come to the mound and he told them quote roomy. I left my dope in the room. It's in the curtain in the corner. Where the curtains at the bottom after the inning. Going to the hotel to get it. Oh my god. So he makes the final out and then he runs to the hotel to grab pot and makes it back just in time to start the next inning. I mean there is a serious addiction. Like i spend without pod. He just wanted to be high. Oh sure but that is some stone or motivation. So soon they knew why. Steve how had been so quiet on the bus. He failed another drug test. Jesus when the positive test was announced he left the team with the understanding. He would go to rehab and then he flew home to montana and told the press quote. I'm pondering retirement right now. I really don't know what's going on. He was suspended from baseball until december thirty first so he's suspended for the rest of the calendar year right the bees just flounder in the league. Another former major leaguer on his way down signed with the blee b.'s. He played for the team for three weeks and then on a road trip to southern california. He just left without saying anything. Sure yeah. That's normal right to ghost your team. It's possible that guy actually ended up siding and still playing in the matrix. Oh my gods. They were just like as on tv. He's alive with the rest of the year. Norris pitched really really well. He struck out six batters. He sought major league stuff. He could still pitch but no major league team would take him. He's blackballed right. Scott nears was also playing very well but no one wanted him. He greatly regretted ever admitting publicly that he was a drug addict. Quote if. I knew then what i know now. I probably wouldn't have stepped forward like i did. I ask for help. And i got it but then i got this. So both him and steve. How the first time they people found out there were drug addicts because they came out and told the press. I'm an addict. And i need help and then baseball did this to them. Yeah it is. I mean i'm just thinking about how shit that is obviously but also in the just say no campaign i mean like. Shouldn't you have a contingency plan for when people publicly tell people they said. Yes but now say no worlds. There wasn't one that contingency plan was. Fuck off you're a bad person. Yeah of course we've come a long way. Well the truth is that. I know i mean it is. It is just is trying to find like it's almost like when when people were like. Yeah the coronavirus is up to the states. You're just like yeah you deal with it. You handle it. You figure it out you know. Yeah so i mean it's on you. It's better now but it's still not great well at least now like if you at least now there's a connection to mental health and addiction. You know like it wasn't just like you were someone who partied you know it's like you you. There is an actual. You know there's a problem. Health pro- Yeah in september president. Reagan gave a speech on tv with nancy and he called for a national crusade against drugs and quote. Those who are killing. America and terrorizing was slow but sure chemical destruction and the reagans then endorse the death penalty for drug dealers. So that's the mindset right. Yeah well it's also. It really is nice. Now because america has really done a one eighty because we now are able to profit of getting and that's better battery system the bees finish that year. Sixty five seventy seven in last place harry quote. The year didn't come across as great as i thought when the ear ended. It was depressing. Because i knew that was a one time thing and without a agreement that future wasn't very bright there a tendency decrease though it went from around seven hundred thirteen hundred kern never asked harry to pay that twenty five thousand dollar lease fee for the team. Okay ken writes played with the nineteen eighty-seven retired he'd had been playing junk every game. He had he's been sober since. Nineteen eighty eight and became public speaker about sobriety. Daryll scott owners should also become a public speaker about how to do your job drunk for technique. Daryll scott played four more minor league seasons but never made it back to the major league baseball his stats were good enough to make it back. How was given a lifetime ban. But then reversed. He made it back to major league baseball in nineteen ninety-one. Why not just ban him why. Well why the caveat ueberroth wanted to crack down but then a new would appeal it and there's an arbitration thing so you know went through the legal channels. He makes it back into major league baseball in nineteen ninety-one with the yankees who he played with until nineteen ninety-six. I think they won the first championship in nineteen so In that era in one thousand nine hundred. Seven steve how played on the sioux falls canaries and independent team. By a guy named harry strove. Brenda's harry steve. It changes name and was back to where he was working in baseball brought. Steve how okay he had. Harry become a scout for the san francisco giants and then owner. A general manager manager executive. He's just in the independent baseball sort of circuit right in the game on april. Twenty eight th two thousand six steve. How rolled his pickup truck in coachella california and died. The autopsy found methamphetamine in his system. He was forty eight years old. Darrell s- conyers was last seen in san bernardino california. Not a good star in two thousand eleven. He was homeless at the time. Want ever heard from him again. God mike norris made it back to the majors with oakland in nineteen ninety. He pitched fourteen games He had back surgery in two thousand and had to go on pain pills again but he seems to be doing okay he he goes to as functions and stuff so he's still kind of a guy around. Yes so that's the story of the san jose vs that is crazy. I don't think it could happen today. Yes i don't think it could either. 'cause i was going to say i would imagine i would imagine people would have turned out for those games to see those players. I do think you're right. I don't think that would happen today. But i also think the team wouldn't even happened because you get you get a different response now when you have a problem like that guy Angels who had the heroin problem hamilton. Yeah he. That was one where i was like. This is kind of fucked for the team. Because he's making twenty million dollars a year and then he would be like. I'm back on heroin. Take time off and it was like twenty dollars year. Yeah so that was always w- well that's weird. Maybe you should not take your salary if you're if you're doing that but i mean i don't know. They knew it when they signed him. It's a very complicated thing. But he went and he went to rehab and then the angels cut him but then he signed with the texas rangers like he got a job and he went to the playoffs and stuff. So i don't know. Is it different. I don't know what happens with players who do drugs now. It seems like a lot. Fewer players are being caught or outed about it that we know of i will. I also think that it's i mean it's like in leagues like the nfl. It is purely talent based if you no matter what you have done. Yeah no matter what you have done for the most part. If you have the talent someone will sign. Yeah no that you will play the. Nfl is full of barbarians. Like just terrible terrible violence. There is actually nfl player. Named i think his name's darren waller and he was one of those guys who has signed by the ravens and had a hair caroline and then he got resigned and he's like the best player in oakland. Yeah i mean. I don't think i don't think rehab was as good back then as it may be now. I know a lot of re still bullshit. But you know it's just a way to suck money off of people but there's good ones there's good ones too. Obviously you know that. Help people and also i mean addiction was just framed in such a you know it was like a personal deficiency whereas now it is acknowledged as a mental health. Problem right So so could have gotten the help he needed and gone to a decent rehab. And maybe that's why. I don't think the bs could exist today. Because i don't think the fucking cutest name for a budget guys who are just doing coke with rooster and lucid pot. Their hotel curtains a yeah. It's an interesting. It's a really interesting sort of look at how we've changed society wise which you know like you said with reagan and with uber off running the league like they were just authoritarian douche bags to these people are supposed to be like especially the one that really gets me. Is this kid. Because he's young and he has beautiful natural baseball swing and like a guy like reggie jackson of meiring. Which reggie jackson might have the most beautiful small time and and they're like and they just they did he never got a shot like he came out and said i'm an addict and then i'm sorry but he never he was never given a second opportunity he was just like fuck this guy. Well also i mean to what. I think you were saying before like if you were if you were serious about trying to fix drug addicts. I mean that would be a great story to embrace and like lean into and highlight as a good story. So this guy came clean you can you can get over s and you can get rewarded for that share opening up about something like that. You get rewarded and these. These players were very aware that there was a different system for different players. The just like steroids players cutting series and then the hall of fame. And there's other ones that are like the will never let you in the hall of fame. A lot of people think. That's why sammy sosa turn white. They think that that was the play. But yeah so it's yeah yeah you just wish it you just wish that at the time they had an understanding a better understanding so yeah and i mean this country still just like we're not great. I mean our ability to you know. We don't have an interest in solving the drug problem country. So beverly knows how to do. It knows what we need to do. Portugal died beautifully. I mean yeah. And really i while i don't know a ton about it. It doesn't seem that it was that difficult. Seemed like it was kind of it. Just kind of goes with like reading the numbers and just saying the they legalized everything criminalized. And then all the crime went down all over the country and and know everything's better. It's a wild wild success. It's not hard not hard to figure out. It's just like toronto virus. Actually i can see the map on how to do it. There's countries that are doing it. Fine australia the south korea howard people not so fucking pissed. How are you nuts so pissed. I am when i see australian. I am so pissed. I mean it's just it's and like i was the email the fires yesterday and it's like yeah. Man went to a pool party last weekend. And i was like yeah i get it understand. That takes ago and really good there. Yeah i was. I was going back and forth to the community was trying to figure out whether or not to show this year at a festival and one of the things she was like what should i. I also feel bad that you guys are watching us. I'm like no you everybody. In other countries who is living a fine life needs to constantly post pictures so americans could staff fucking shitty. We are how should we are as as a society. It just keep throwing that shit up there well and then i mean watch the super bowl yesterday and you're like this country doesn't just doesn't give a fuck doesn't care it'll just doesn't give a fuck with there is absolutely no like i was talking to my dad about when churchill asked all the for dunkirk when he had to ask people to get their boats and like dr take their boats to go. I mean can you imagine anything near that. Today i know will then kirk to bed move. Yeah the lab. Lack of empathy in this country is really horrifying. I understand it and it isn't just know it's well whatever i'm naming get into okay. Done wrapped self wrap all right. Go go boys. What sources for this episode. John shouli in his book twilight of the long ball. God's dispatches from the disappearing heart of baseball from rolling stone. Neil carlin's the bad knows bs and in sports illustrated by tom verduci. Weirdest team ever drug users has been and never words on nine thousand nine hundred eighty six san jose bees.

Thanks for coming on Jeremy as well. Thank you for taking taking the time I appreciate it so as to be here yeah and anyways we have a huge show for your all <hes> we are going to be talking about Quentin Tarantino's once upon a time in Hollywood the long awaited film than also instead of doing a retro review. We are going to be counting down our top twenty five films of the two thousand ten's because there have been some recent lists out there <hes> one by indie wire especially especially. That's kind of terrible by the way Oh my God i made the mistake of looking over in public and I lust who who is a written by all of them clones. There were three ladies and a men's yeah yes so it was like a it was like the whole team the staff of anyway. Let's just fire everything. One one of them was was David Ehrlich. If he's he's on he's on letterbox to Jacob never every reviews garbage wow well. I'M GONNA back Jacob up on this. I don't know the details of the facts but I I. I'm pretty sure he's right those godawful list. You must have been happy all our number. I was dying. I know so you like that number two though I don't really remember the list no I'm saying under this again with number fill. Okay I mean that's now you back me up. That's how it works. Yes I'll take it so now number one with moonlight well. That's I have so many honorable mentions though like it's it's crazy and also I feel like I don't WanNA foreign like I don't think I have any inform I I was thinking the same thing that we should say American of anguish language movies because I realized I was really slide so I got one nine English movie on here again also I. I started to put some documentaries on there but then I had to cut them. All you know like there's some like <hes> Docs like there's three there was going to be I had the Mr Rogers one on there and then I had I had free Solo. I know her. She worked at crazy avs emporium. That's cool I had someone touched my spaghetti. I know yeah <hes> I it was <hes> it was like an Italian. <hes> someone touch my spaghetti. Yeah it looks at it looked Spaghetti Westerns. <hes> okay okay. Let's see <hes> and then also gosh what was the last one was <hes> that might be get to it was <hes> Oh it was <hes> they shall not grow old. I just this had the carnival cruise to shame yeah. It does is why it's called Spaghetti Western because it's a western made by Italy there were Italian. You got you got it man. I always pay bail related because the look <hes> I just thought it was no other those hey bill related bill related doesn't they kinda look like a like. A habeel kind of looks like a bunch of Spaghetti suppose so yeah. I never thought that but that's an an interesting perspective I can't say that perfect tie-in is talk about Spaghetti Westerns in Hollywood. Oh did you okay Jimmy. There's a lot going on. Don't start with read the receipt yeah I did. I used to talk to people. Who aren't you so I know right? It's crazy between that in the heat stroke talking to anybody. I'm so I feel like I'm back in high school. Doing my homework <hes> a group project. No No. I'm still number. My List Clyde just made my list by memory which I think is the way to do. It countered away Henry Says Levine it's a lot of movies what's come to your mind mean the most important and does something. I re watched recently but that's why you then number them but there's a lot on there. There's twenty five. That's not a lie. It's the number. I have more than twenty five so I I can't deal with a with seeing anything on propel really done anyway. I feel like back in highschool. 'cause you know like the seven minutes between class periods where you're doing your you sit that you run into the classroom. Pop Down in the lab doing your homework grow quick rattling. I'm doing right now. I can't see it is a shame. It's a lime light mint green. It's meant manager to reveal that ruin now. They know that they know that it comes from my heartened three three Jacob where I work very hard you do I work probably know in terms of the show is very much on the fly. I'm just saying I don't have time for this because here. I am and I love you dearly. Thank you so much probably at the camp eleven hours a day including Saturdays so this is this is my lazy. Is that <hes> don't talk about it. 'cause I'm having a mental breakdown because I'm already very sad. Only a week left while tragic doomed my favorite time year or no was that Christmas is a wonderful life wonderful. Oh Yeah Yeah I was kind of like seeing the school supplies around. This time of year makes me very nostalgic. No it makes excuse gouging me. Anxiety attack like I was always the best part of the you know was going to buy school supplies for the New Year because there was so much hope and like when you're a little Timberland shopping center we would go to office depot well. You're up shop logo. It's too bad Jacob. What do you like to see around this time of year? The end of summer I guess so this is August is not July Lexi's me. Just <hes> the YEP Yep. This summertime does leaving even leaving the station Ryan right yeah yeah I mean I also don't like fall fall or do you like my friend. I like really yes. Why are you like a snuggie person falls? My favorite is going to be hot. It's uncomfortable. I also like full. I like like late March. That's also so a good time like what it's like. Fifty five sixty five Saito's spring allergies. Oh yeah before the pollen not trying to be like a contrary but everyone's st down like going nuts for fall. It's good that winter has has somebody and that's you know Jacob. If I had to say I might go winter now. Not Dead Winter your outfit. You like layering and crap. That's terrible reasons true. We're GONNA Toboggan even in the middle of the summer yeah well my sister. I thought Henry you have like a real like that. It was early onset balding long. No we thought he was straight up like done for a long time before I agree. It's very confusing thing why I wear this because the headphone Hemi we see website. You can't play that no one else at work. I had a hat on but when I when I do this I wear Mabini Lot. It's comforting but that's like when I wore orange vest every day for a year. Did you fleece orange well. What can I say? I tell that to all the kids to make them realize that fine and you have to say that what I want to invest every day for whatever the war but in in my head in Tenth Grade C._O.. My stance but still because I liked it I liked by won't obviously therapy but quite a lot of things had one of those one one big big pocket yeah I could just put my whole life in their everything just went into that jacket like a kangaroo well that should be on if only that we had movie was made into remember that Kangaroo Movie Jack Anthony Anderson. I've never actually seen it but it was on the preview. It was a preview on my <hes> Spike's. V._H._S. is on the indie wire top one hundred yes cousin that dude. I don't even know mountain twenty ten. Wow Oh careful what the phone there. You got the best you got the BUZZER. We'll just drag me. I'm trying to watch homework. I watched the nostalgia this dodge critic review of Kangaroo Jack he he he's on Youtube does reviews of old old movies or dad movies like the country bears country. I never saw that either. Sir Okay not like I remember ten to bears Zogar Yeah whatever works and it you say that they're sharing. I should say Jacob and Jeremy Are Sharing Mike because we are enclosed. Got The throne microphone yes. She has a big chair. Jacob has the second most comfy chair close the so on the floor in the corner sharing a microphone. Yeah I ran the show yeah if you didn't catch the last show chloe Louis was the the lead host island. They're serious yeah so it was it was great so all right well anything else. Anybody wants to mention before we get to it. Let's get make sure it's a long clips. I can finish this okay so all right well. Let's get into our main review which is Quentin Tarantino's. Once upon a time in Hollywood and has chloe said we have a clip. Let's take a listen Rick Dalton Bet your son must stunt double clip booth all right. What's Matt Horne Line? It's official has been yourself like that. All Damn People here I flat on my ass. Got Live next door to me. I'm Sharon Tate. I claim is Carlson. The classics that good where are you going Charlie skull daycare in this town that can all change back all right so the ninth film from Quentin Tarantino once upon a time in Hollywood written and directed by by the man himself yet and it stars Leonardo di Caprio Brad Pitt Margot Robbie Kurt Russell so Al Pacino Dakota Fanning Timothy Allah fant. I met him Harley with him. Remember that's right. Damian Lewis Luke Perry the late Luke Perry Bush down. Yes Kirk got cut Yep Yep James. Marsh also got cut you so you've met Timothy L. Event Yeah. We watched coca at the like in the same place not together. We're seeing next to each other so really yeah a review of once upon a time in Hollywood that this guy said he saw that <hes> like Tarantino's own theater and let or something was like sitting yeah so the synopsis is a fatal television actor and his stunt double strive to achieve fame and success in the film industry during the final years of Hollywood's Golden Age h nineteen sixty nine Los Angeles so I guess we should say probably do a spoiler free talk first then do star ratings and then do a spoiler discussion and I'll put that at the end of the show okay. Can I place my Peres. I think stopped working handy. That's okay we'll work to. Everybody knows okay good good so all right well who wants to kick us off. What did everybody think of once upon a time in Hollywood so <hes> I really enjoyed this movie? I started l.. Non Enjoying it at all then. How what how long thirty minutes it felt it felt this guy yeah? It felt very under edited. It didn't need edited because he knew exact there was not one extra second shot after shot in sequence and there was no editing at all no it was ah yes. I really enjoyed it. I think it's probably <hes> it's probably in his top three movies I would say and I thought the acting was really tremendous. I thought what was most surprising <hes> I think we are Arctic. Average is probably the best actor of his generation are among the best but I thought I thought I thought Brad Pitt <hes> outshone them in the in this film <hes> I thought that was take excellent. McCaffrey was good good bye and <hes> I thought Margot Robbie gave a really understated performance but it was it was good. I thought they did it with the law class and I was worried where it was going because of the history of the Manson family and so it was it was approaching during that time of the that's the film I was kind of worried that they were gonNA take a <hes> Quentin Tarantino esque sort of bloodbath <hes> see I kind of anticipate what was going to happen because it's Tarantino Seventeen. Now I kind of knew that was slowest gonNA identity that's but then it totally occurred to me like I mean before. It was like okay without spoiling anything but it makes little so that's play anything okay. I was actually was actually up until that point wasn't enjoying it but then when that happened. I'm like okay 'cause I. I don't I don't wait. Wait wait wait. We do them up into that. You weren't enjoying pretty much. I was like I wasn't because I was like I. I like we acting the way that he didn't like it. Except for the last that Bauer knows what I heard so. Let me explain myself so I I I liked the acting I love the writing. I thought it was shot beautifully shot him film right <hes> I think <hes> I thought the <hes> the story characters were compelling but I kept asking myself. What is this movie about but then wait wait wait wait it wasn't Coen brothers movie than a hey hail Caesar but then at by the end man once once the movie happened? I went oh this is what this movie is and <hes> it was actually a it was actually an elegy <hes> for the sixties for <hes> for <hes> you know the <hes> victims of Manson <hes> for but it was also a great commentary on violence in film now the one thing got me. I said we need to focus on this thing about you right now. I thought this was his most personal film. Maybe ever and I would agree and <hes> so I thought it was really tremendous by the end. It really won't be over Cool Jacob prepare you gotta get the mic ready to to avoid spoiling anything. I'll just keep my brief. <hes> first of all I agree with Brad Pitt statement. He's your favorite stab you in the eye. Are you also my favorite so <hes> I think this is one of Brad Pitt's best performances in quite some time. Yeah I like hike back pit Franken. I should have realized those from the marketing and but for some reason I didn't realize that this was supposed to be a one of Quentin Tarantino's like revisionist history adjacent to something tape movies well. It wasn't in the trailer. That's all right. I know you're doing great man. chloe's you know I am I. Everybody's everybody's lovely continue the lack and I can I can in the trailers and the marketing it was very clear that this was the movie that centered around these two characters adjacent to the Charles Manson murders but for some reason I didn't pick up on that until the movie ended I was like Oh because I wasn't expecting it to end when it did thought that was going to be a whole nother like our this movie the only man unlike midsummer about that Oh yeah the director's cut yeah so that it kind of took me by surprise <hes> if you just like random thoughts <hes> yeah beautifully shot beautifully written beautifully edited the setting was beautiful. <hes> I read a review someone side. If you don't know anything about in the sixties or Manson don't go see this movie because you probably wouldn't enjoy it as much and I kind of agree with that. I think that's there. There's a road frat boys behind me who are like this slows see more life. That's pacing. That's not just they don't relate anything onscreen. I kinda get that. Obviously I kind of get that I agree because I think like if you don't if you don't appreciate the little sixties Easter eggs and things like that and <hes> <hes> you know like it was cool to see Margot Robbie d Martin movie that was cool <hes> <hes> but <hes> yeah I thought it was I I agree with with everything. Jacobs said <hes>. What's she at ten wasn't it? They left it Sharon Tate Insurance. Oh well that was interesting. I I just didn't catch the I thought it was her Leo Yeah Contract. You know refinement doing fine <hes>. I think that that Margot Robbie was really good but underused. She didn't have like an audible line in the movie wave lay the first one thirty to thirty five minutes wait. Can I count appoint though clever this a lot is an appropriate time to counterpoint Jacob. Yes okay okay. I gotTA check with them. We forget we're best friends yeah but no I think it was to respect like obviously we know that she was you know murdered murder through yet but so I think level was they weren't putting words and thoughts in a deceased person's. You know my mouth. I think they were just displaying her are and who people knew her to be without the actual dialogue. Which I thought was a lot more respectful 'cause you're not giving her thoughts like? I love the Movie Theater C._N._N.. Everything right but there. I really liked that you didn't the Dow is see where people are coming from but I don't think it was for lack of thinking about it. Do you know what I mean. It only choose being ignored or underutilized. I think it was because of the nature of the history there who good. I don't think she was underutilized at all. I think <hes> what she she does. I don't think she's underutilized. I think it was an understated performance this kind of dropout stubbornly though the movie well because it's supposed to be the building suspension. I think yeah but I think <hes>. I thought I thought she I thought she did a great job. Yeah I agree. I you know I thought this stuff with Bruce. Lee was funny <hes> but I could see where some people would be. He kind of upset about that because I think he's such an iconic person and <hes> somebody that a lot of people really care about that was weird so he did actually train her. Though did he really cool but that one part was weird. It was funny but it was. It's a little bit like a cheap joke on <hes> gotta laugh laugh. GotTa laugh but maybe like the expensive like the memory of somebody that's great yeah. That's true while thought it was interesting though Bruce loosly sequence and all that was like was like a like a thought that like Brad Pitt's character was was having yeah. That's it actually happened. So I think memory yeah was it a memory by the wife hates him. Oh okay yeah now the flashback that's fair enough right so yes yeah last thing I guess in my mind before we really dig in Ryan later on is feet. Oh Yeah Tarantino's feet finish you. Do you know about this glowing. What a major foot fetish if you go through his movies it's like they're everywhere the movie he wrote kill from dusk till Dawn? He's I mean like some high put her foot in his mouth in that movie something like that and then bill champagne out of Houma Thurmond's Vince Shoe at one point yeah R._l.. Yeah go back through. It's also like the the Thurman <hes> dancing and Pulp Fiction. She's right doing the twist and then also who <hes> yeah. There's a scene where she's dancing and it's there for sure. I'll you make very comfortable like in Hollywood where <hes> she's got her feet up in the the dirty feet up to two thousand up on the the windshield for like fifteen minutes right. I mean yeah girl dirty feet too yeah <music>. This dirty Dander Sharon tate was I'll got him. I am I getting into one of those people. That was no. I I mean I think yes I think I partly APP and then also I think it's just the realism of the era as well my feet of aid. I thought it was really they look good. It was <hes> like a a small moment but a really important that moment just sort of <hes> for films in general is the moment when Brad Pitt's giving the girl the ride back to the movie ranch <hes> she offers to like <hes> <hes> do a sex act and then Brad Pitt basically says like well how old are you and they have that conversation and I was expecting when she said that for him to be like yeah like Brambilla Yeah Okay and then how to be a moment <hes> for like just to be like a cool dude and a cool car you know <hes> but I thought <hes> and I was really refreshing to see like a a cool guy on screen. <hes> like actually carrying about consent thought that was a really good thing to see yeah especially somebody Brad Pitt which is like a sex symbol. I think those are like those are the things that need to be a movies now for kids to see like no yet. You should care about yeah yeah no. That's a very fair point. When you say kids maybe laughed because of all the other stuff but no I agree what sixteen although this was a really you know in terms of his movies yeah? There were small older ladies in my like like geriatric laser theater who lost their I. I guess they didn't know what they were. I think they just saw the title wow and saw the saw Hollywood lost their minds her husband and behind me the theater and she was like Oh my God is is he dead like every five minutes when the when the Tarantino Caveman these three women literally like they were standing up saying down they were freaking at they. It is not especially if they were by themselves. It might have been different as well but they were like. Turn react we chat. It was like a whole I can't. I can't imagine what the Chelsea theater audiences like. It's showing the Chelsea gotta go. My mic theater was was also mostly older folks too. I would say like you know. Average age was maybe fifty but there were quite a few folks that looked like they were in their sixties and Seventies. It was interesting which like I don't think I don't think of that. As being the Tarantino audience I think of his audience more of being gen-x rather than baby boomers and so I do think Jacob is right that I think maybe or maybe close but they saw the title and once upon a time in Hollywood and just sort of thought may be one thing <hes> but also I think dicaprio is look like an like an older actor and that he's got like <hes> Deniro vibes about him <hes> and so I think he appeals to an order Greg because he takes he takes roles that are you know like period pieces like you know the aviator the revenue and stuff that like order folks seem to gravitate towards <hes> so yeah just just an interesting observation about the audience yeah yeah I suppose except for the line of crap boys who then fought like they were trolling. They're like in the car next next to it well first of all they were like in front of my house like now cloak so I took Papa Strauss I made him go with me an hour and a half early because I wanted my see in the theater right right yes and then these FRAPP shut up digging. Look understand how much I don't know I know preorder tickets. There was an assigned seating. You see we have assigned seating scourge of the universe I agree. It was assigned seating. I was ready to Oh. You know what I mean. I was there basically also I've just good quality time for proper strategy. I've been very busy lately. I've seen you him. That's basically now these two. It's wonderful <unk> a bunch of children right and I have been plotting who's GonNa Marry Hill. That's right yeah. We talked about that day. We are great you and Henry the other show. We didn't go great. I'm sure it is and you hope they will find love. You know it'd be funny. Reality Show anyway <music> well. They're talking about Oh yes. It was the Frat boys who then like they were following not following us but they were like beside us basically like the whole way home and my sweet father didn't understand that they're being so annoying so you like like you started like they're being it was escalate Yudo the rowdiness of these five boys. Yes and I was just like so over it. I couldn't do anything because my father fred there. I'm not going to upset him by you know all right well. I'll get into it. Later moved the Lion King I went and saw it adobe. Dobie cinema had one of the worst experience audience that was the line. I liked it okay anyway. It's morning just as a tangent real quick. Please people have been talking about on the show. The people have been like saying like oh the lion king you know why they remake it. Blah Blah Blah. I had this thought on the cart. Will I walked out after seeing once upon Salmon Hollywood and I was singing sober spot and there's like this little playground beside that pizza place. It's not really a playgrounds more like just like a little naturedly garden place really right. It's play around. There was a kid standing up on a border he was going <hes> Y'all so you obviously just saw because his parents throughout their and stuff and I remember I remember yeah I remember doing the same thing when I was about his shoes like six or seven and I remember like playing Lion King on the on the playground and my thought was this like you have all these adults and stuff like where they remaking this Blah Blah Blah and it's like well because it's for the kids because like you know the kids watch noble where they can't see in the theater. That's still need to see that lie. I think going to the theater with your parents and seeing a movie that like the whole family can enjoy is like a really positive experience to you bet and also and also I think kids WanNa see things in an art form that they can connect with and I think they're used to sing C._G._I.. Now and I think <hes> but also but also connect connecting with with with celebrities that they know like beyond say and <hes> you know Danny Glover and chose <hes> like you know. It's like the kids like who's playing. Someone's like Matthew Broderick and it's like who l. e. kilkare whereas either surely do. Would I mean listen to music. Do you think these kids. This is America. I think community I love community beyond I've never seen community John Oliver I mean there's not ah the only one I can get on board. There's quite a few I think that people seth Rogan. They can't watch a thing seth Rogan's in Pittsburgh and they watch some anyway just for the the <hes> it's it's like why are we remaking this. It's like because it's for the kids and it's a great. It's a great film and also it's like maybe they will. Maybe but it's like I mean they. They just perform Shakespeare. They performed hamlet once at the globe and never did it again. I mean films like different takes in different reputations and so if you wanna try something with a different production and it's like go forward. It's I mean it's I see no difference same movie. It was like the same play over and over again you're talking about. You're talking about the play where are not recorded. It's different people. It wasn't the same people every night going to see it. Nobody I mean but it's my point is is that you have different actors. Filling the roles in different directors doing different interpretations. No I'm saying this is this was quite you know its true. Henry is quite the same movie in some ways it shot for shot except more boring scene for scene though what what is there are things in the new movie that just aren't in the world. It's true but hey before therefore by definition. Oh Lion King Tangent. Let's bring it back. You did it fair enough Jacob any other initial thoughts before we get to Clinton <hes> there was a baby in my theater which I think I think we should do away with the Guardian rule like you're not of if you're not of a certain age you can't be in a movie even with a Guardian. Just get rid of it. When you say baby deeming like a child that was capable of understanding like a baby a baby crying baby as a single parent? That's what time did you see the film a seven forty five for Okinawa baby for a baby. They're not GONNA until eleven. That's though let me go sleep till then baby sleep through the night. You can still form memories yeah. We're having nightmares about the point things that happen experienced movie yeah yeah. Oh I don't disagree. So what about the movie yeah <hes> I. I felt like the like the right at the end like a recent Tarantino came out but up until that point it was kind of like older Tarantino right makes sense like yeah like you sort of going back to his roots a little yeah and <hes> I like that he's sort of managed to put so many different stories into one into one movie because like every characters almost had their own thing going on yeah you know so android that also all the the real life celebrity like there were a ton of cameos from people like stranger things things. I don't like a little cameo like there yeah the right ANA cameos from like like celebrities that we know coming in and playing people that time period but then there were also just a bunch of like landon fame people from that time period period like Bruce Lee and the Roman Polanski right well yeah. I didn't know he had anything to do with the no well you do now the victim victim she had bad luck shoot okay. That's like flamboyant outfits them Polarizing Luck Hell Bell the Guy I forget his name but they got the police Steve McQueen Damian Lewis. Oh man that was creepy. I did not like big. Hey I hate Damian Lewis. Are you okay yeah don't like him. I was kind of hoping they would have somebody play like a young hugh hefner but they didn't have the glad they didn't for shot on the real playboy mentioned did. They don't think it's owned by playboy anymore. I think they sold that. <hes> <hes> shacks died. I was thinking about though how gross was that they were having poisoned thing in the sixties and the seventies and eighties in the night and all the way up and there's just like gross and what I would like. Don't blow your head under the water in that pool just like gross right a lot of money to the people who clean up actually can't jake come complete implant for you Jacob we do as a team. Don't clean the whole one fun right me by the mansion and turn into like a thing center learning center. It's very sweet. We were just the articles label for underfunded youth. Yes Shaka pound. It especially already underfunded youth because they think it's GonNa be the playboy mansion but then there's just books and they're like Oh yeah. Hey what's really cool. It's learning. We all love learning here but let's call Brad Pitt's the bomb he is. He's very good. How do we feel I'm? I know an asking in this question. I'm just GONNA get yelled at by Khloe but with me how do we how do we feel about to Capri performance. I thought he was great kind of questions that I mean. Maybe like a loaded one because I'm like a revealing that I wasn't that says well well. No listen no no now now you. I haven't no I know I know I was looking you Tom Fan. That's what I'm gathering. It's the Ba- like him more or less than Timothy. Show me it's whole McCaffrey. Oh I can't even get he's the best. He is number one. He's confusing snow listen now. He's just he's just in a world of his own okay next level moon. He brand flowers are trying to save the polar bears together okay. It's just like that good for them. Next Victim Aw is kind of surfing in the Milky Way kind of thing than Tim Mutates trying to get their beautiful boy was a real setback though he was good net R._i.. L. K. look no Leonardo DiCaprio's. Might I mean he always has been probably always will be my number one always I thought he thought no the character was meant to be sort of outlandish in this movie right yeah that being being said I think he overreacted a tad and I just think and I know that's I know they were going for like the crazy can't be accurate. Whatever thing crazy happy me? My personality is a little either find to be over the top because I mean I thought that was so obnoxious. Those performance was really and I mean he was supposed to be the worst I know but it's like but even still thought goes watching like an annoying cliff booth. I feel like goes watching the knowing Leonardo DiCaprio whereas I really stuck with <hes> what's his name Reykdal Brick Dalton whereas I felt like Brad Pitt's character again really understated and like well flayed and just like easier performance by by the way so. Let's not go yes. I just guy look look Brad Pitt was very good. It's a much easier job rob to play the straight man. Everybody knows this okay much easier job right yes and doesn't WanNa these still the shoe. I mean the show this side of the room over EH super bias. I'm not saying you love Brad Pitt. I do okay fine biases out of this. I think you're biased. My bias has formed over decades of admiration. I think look what we're really missing out. The here is the person that really stole this. The whole movie was Al Pacino's like to sing. I'm Scott Housley. What are you doing now? Let me please let me say this. Let them have it. No no no no no Henry. What is my favorite scene of any movie of all time? The were DiCaprio is drying his or washing his hands in the ater yes now this is no longer true are also look at saying. I have a new favorite scene from Oh my God I is it spoiler. It's Yeah No. It's him talking to the girl those good. I'm so we level the writing like Oh. My God is idle release. Go to me because you know I I greatly thoroughly enjoyed Leonardo DiCaprio in this movie. I just liked Brad Pitt more. That's I'm not all right my qualms now with you Jacob. It's over here. I I thought he was good. I thought he was acting thought he was good. I just think you'll regret that and because I compare this before put in the same vein as Wolf of Wall Street where I feel like he didn't overact <hes> like I feel like that was just the degree I hit the the note of Wall Street so much better than either with this movie it was just like slightly off because think about like when he played the villain and Django because that was an over the top performance right but he hit the note so while he was so menacing but he also was like ridiculous and just you know a parody of himself love this movie. It was like a it what Leo would never have infants like I mean like character. The character was like a parody of the southern gentleman type for gone with the wind like it was a lampooning lampooning that this is more accurate but <hes> I just feel like I like I like either lampooning in a similar way like male actors of that time and I was just kind of left like I don't know why I I kind of agree with that. Because you know like Django unchained was supposed to be like ridiculous. We're supposed we're supposed to be like watching a cartoon. Once upon a time in Hollywood feels like it was supposed to make them more real movie movie but I don't think he his performance over the top at but see he's a struggling self absorbed back exactly with actual washing up. He's he's mid rinse in in and our influx is the hardest place to be and so he's I mean he's an actor and so he's going to be a little emotional even like in the trailer. You know okay but you know I am. You know how you know hi did not find in Wolf of Wall Street the the lemons thing and funny but when he is like he can't walk Oh yeah they so when I was watching you know how I know. I'm a little whatever find so I took in the movie. Okay Okay but you know when he was in his trailer freaking out being like you're not going to. I'm going to kill you if like everyone was the Frat boys were thought that was very funny. I was crying. Does he tears of sadness yes. I really crying crying North Sea. I think and Valeo can do that right. I think the beginning I thought that was funny too. I know album kind of it wasn't willing yeah I I was. I thought the beginning was funny but then I thought the ending thing as to what he's saying that was well if I sure and then you realize it's happy and sad or funny and sad that that had me. I cried a lot did you. I found fabrics very emotional movie so I guess I thinking about. I'm sorry go ahead. No you got. I guess I'm thinking about now. He's he's so self absorbed and I guess it's like I. I still think Brad Pitt was better I think I think maybe it wasn't easy role but I think he got Hawaiian shirt. Oh it's is a killer shirt see but okay so the scene where he were Brad. Pitt goes to the ranch where was just Brad Pitt but that was just done and like I thought like that was actually very nuance right because you were kind of like you know he knows something's up. He knows it's wrong but it's very tense for anyone who cares yes. Yes no sorry for the audio imbalance at times so I I don't know it's there was a little as performance was a little noxious to me but it was good. It was good acting. It was good. We'll see I think now have you on a second viewing more. Maybe I really like Brad Pitt will but also he's just given more time as oh by far less he has this. I feel like Brad Pitt had a little teeny. You know little teeny orb of information this and here you go. He took a word Leonardo. DiCaprio had a whole world. I feel like to represent had given so the boring guy is like how do you like. That's why it's per-performance to make his it's like he took the guy that was less interesting in on the surface to fight scenes in crab. Nobody was just like a very like I just I guess I just like an understated performance. That's why lowering ring character it is with understate performance as opposed to a well rain character with performance that is like the intent. I still think it was over the top but I I think it's just it's almost like the intent is he's the understated yeah whereas the <hes> it's a big juxtaposition how he comes off. His Howie is at the postal caprio. They're like inside avid each other run. He's Rick Dalton's playing all these like Bang Bang hang in charge but he's like falling apart. Brad Pitt comes off very like an abuse driver doesn't do fund his his history and what it is like no no Yo eight point anyway but he defeated. What's reveal accidentally things that what we I think the question here is? What did you think of the movie? We haven't gotten there yet. Well we have just beautiful. I love every second of it but also I mean you guys. Ezra very well versed. I know that the two of us are like in love with old movies yes so he could really appreciate all the how much Quentin Tarantino's in love with old movies like the fact that you had the candy poster in the background that was cool on a few great candy poster the Soundtrack for that Oh my God bread love trailing shows like my jam Gimme that Neil Diamond on my my dad trek in this movie was great south very good. I never thought like Paul Revere the raiders as much as we'll have in the past few days but it's killed it yeah. That was pretty good stuff. Yeah my dad. I used to listen to that song of the car like every single day. So that was the that was low moment. Will you know thing but that also speaks like my parents were like in their like late teens than to like. That's what I grew up. 'cause you know that's your nostalgic time. Whatever so I grew up hearing all that see all that my I've watched a lot like T._m.? all-time basically I was like like as opposed the board Frat boys behind me. I could appreciate also very annoying side no but in any case it was like for me I thought the pacing was amazing of the storytelling was amazing his dialogue if you ask me it's out Seitz one of the best written scripts but just always his dialogue if you're not even this yeah oh my God in the gene siskel though second to David Mammon I mean he's the best anytime they always hey time they would review or a Quinton Tarantino films neighbor Gene Cisco would always be like he's like Tarantino's. Dialogue is is so distinctive and so on point I mean maybe the only other person that's better David Mamat but it's just every time it's always me laugh. He's Semaj. You love those guys I love. I hate those guys. Do you hate what he says going Uber. I what do I hate him. I don't do it for you now the way they speak as annoying as if it's definitive and ripping through cool they think they're so the best the best things are like when they get into arguments for like you know like we're like Cisco likes like a kid cop or whatever and then like like baby's Day out. That's US Henry Great Roger. E books like you're morally bankrupt. Wow maybe that's why too close to home is high yeah yeah. It's very hot here I I. The people should know nothing for you. Sorry I can get you some water all right gracious house. Okay keep talking. Please Jeremy. Are you okay you. All you got your water all right bear B- everybody don't vein you'll how many kids I've had. I mean to Henry makes noise but it might be worth it. Henry cause a dead adead panel members a useless panel. Remember it's true and escapes back to lose it. Let's see how it is a little toasty smell in bed. That's very considerate the Jacob No. I thought it was while you'll see you know foreshadowing on my list that I've predetermined as you know this. This was an amazing. I like everything about got it. We still alive yeah. He never turned it off. We're still kicking GEICO but whenever a kid passes out I put ice on their wrists and on the back of their neck often the Pasco about one a week goes down you know I'm the pass out counts. You know I'm basically in charge of everything unfortunately Jacob back after the show actually laughing no after the show again hose off with shaved ice or something we all go out for ice cream. Please just write down the Ruben there is it's very good. Oh next to heal barbecue yeah yeah yeah. I'm I K- any of that but I'm Kenny Barbecue correct right Barbecue custard when custard just milk can do it. I'll die. Can you work because you Jewish. He said No. I will die map because I'm Jewish. It's not it's not an empire. I'm not GonNa like veteran barbecue chicken. I doubt if you choose not to Ganci Khloe. No I can't eat pork. I will die. I just said that I know I speak in a lot of <hes> speaking tone joking. I love you close Jewish right yeah. What made you yeah yeah? We circle back. I'm only I'm only <music>. I'm only <hes> <hes> what's the word kids you know. Jacob is staring right at my profile some little insecure about him. You can tell also also you just said earlier by forty five minutes ago that you would yeah. I saved a lot cruiser. God I wish Leonardo you can't really see I'll eat still got jake. We got taken. We Got Timmy. So what did you do but anyway is beautiful beautiful films I love I think I generally can't the one thing that guy was his little bit of like I said Roll my eyes Tarantino. Nobody's talking about you right now. Trump came out with the <hes>. I think thinkers Jacob we mentioned it the violent the commentary of honor who mentioned it the commentary on violence what takes place during that. I'm sure it's really can't talk against no Tarantino's vary you an people he gets annoyed because people are like violent to Blah Blah Blah and so he was talking about that and this at a rather poignant time and I said sit down a little bit but it did go with the plot but style I read an article about how he was editing movie and he <hes> he realized that the dog the dog they hired to play Brad. Pitt's pit bull was beautiful actress like I just started to realize I was yeah. I saw things in her face. She started to speak to me. Tell trying to say dog whisper. I assume due due to the editing I'm GonNa stick with it through something other than the dogs investment in this story but hey you never know happy but Peter was pissed. Pita can shove off. We hate them they. They're you're always want to be upset P._S.. Shocks pita literally sucks and that's coming from me. Anyone's GonNa like p the it's GonNa be me because Peter puts forth the big. Hey have you ever seen the South Park episode on Peter I haven't it's pretty now. Has Anyone seen the Tarantino interview. Hang on scene pink thrown on my mom. You Get yes in New York City. Oh Yeah I'd be oh wow <hes> the scene the a famous Tarantino interview where he's commenting on yeah wise movies violence pretty good. What's at nowhere heels because it's just like and I'm shut near but now the one I'm talking about? There are a lot of good ones so there's a great interview Gwen Tarantino at the beginning of his career. If you can get past the interviewer who is drawing rose and quite it's us. Oh bless you so the bad part is. I really don't like I'm bored. I feel bad about it but here we are nine but <hes> there's yeah he's got a great interview about <hes> Pulp Fiction. It's and they talk about some some. I things needs to the bathroom spoilers. Go talk spoilers not yet. Why even that's Okay Phillip every I've barely I mean I've had a lot of not very well? I'm overwhelmed right at patient so it's not coming out clean. It's like when I talk about you and I speak your brush. Oh thank you so much. If I ever just yeah so wall say I loved the movie as well. It's by far my favorite film of the year and then I would say agreed in maybe with the exception of maybe one. It's probably better than anything I saw saw last year with exception of one of of maybe one phone from Iceland a we'll get to my friend okay in <hes> some me to accept a shoe. Will this movie appearing on some top twenty five godless <hes> we'll we'll just have to wait and see. I don't think I can make that call at this point movies got sit with me a little bit longer yeah so but I I mean I. I loved pretty much every second of it I I I agree. I think Brad Brad Pitt is one of his best performances. I think it is very understated. I love it but I e out say equally. I Love Decapa when the movie I mean it's not but if you had to pick one he'd piggly owed so affected. You don't think you would think he should bring Nice Ono ski. Henry doesn't pay tonight's me. It's true I've never nice Jeremy. How this like morning? I love them both equally honestly every time it cut to Brad Pitt was like when it comes back to the Caprio I said hey can. I say something please so all over the place. I'm so sorry we'll be as Gwynn. No no no. I'm sorry okay so Leonardo's <unk> okay so brad. Pitt is like a movie star for a reason like he can just hold the screen sure you know and I firmly agree. I believe that you know <hes> MHM very much. Though capital works his little cushy off to get the big different that's a great point. I think Brad Pitt as a movie star. I think Leonard Caprio isn't actor. There's a difference yeah. There's one I prefer over the other <hes> that being said in this particular case I think Brad Pitt was the better actor and <hes> and I think because and here's why because like if I think about which of these characters what I want to have another thirty thirty minutes of screen time with how it works for me I would I would rather live with Brad Pitt character for another thirty minutes then DiCaprio's character but that's like saying that I oh my God I came in good example aw yeah in that case like Robert Deniro in in a dirty GRANDPA's by the navigator and raising ball just because one punch you in the face will not like that I mean like these people like captures your attention more and like which one did yeah see for me. It's just it's different. I mean for instance like like if I had to choose between Jodi foster or Anthony Hopkins like I would much prefer to watch Hannibal Lecter for thirty minutes just like make Chitchat yeah right. That's not ah the act but the Agar because tell the actor portrays the character thing it's lawn boy but anyways other interpretations of the Hannibal Lecter Character which I would not want to spend time with yeah no but it's our we'll circle back but I thought that the one thing I love about Tarantino and it's I can't remember who was saying this <hes> but in terms of helmet maybe someone at work where movies are becoming more and more condensed just in terms of some of the editing and pacing either slow burner and he really gives you tie time to experience and live in the environment like the scene where Earth <unk> Brad Pitt drives home from. I guess it's Leonardo Dicaprio's house towards the beginning of the movie and it's like a pretty long extended drive where you're kind of just following him and then he gets home and he's just sitting there with his dog eating like it gets stuff like that. You don't see that often gives them that dog food dog's Mat and the mad dog. Let's call for the dog best walser raccoon flavored or three different shots in in the movie of the the smaller it out and so at least four I think they're four to two cans a meal. <hes> Yeah No. I don't re- he's a world builder. Got The second can out you could could get me there. I dig of the Gavitt area. You're right. You're right you're right but it but it ended the best. Also I know I've used obsessed with his writing and now because it all is it all comes back. It's not for not unlike no shade like Wes Anderson's is like for looks right now. It is most of that stuff is superfluous. Yes yes sure but Quentin Tarantino does it always comes back into it always like every single like those logged and they always have little payoffs that then come back like Leonardo di Caprio in his pool. You know what I mean. Yes it's one of the best things this national good classic film theory. One of the best scenes ever is to Capri listening to music on his WHO and singing. I like you know that's also ice creamed full. I was like that person who don't want here with grew at that moment with the worry seeing. Is that anything that wasn't screaming. He was singing. It's before everything happens at his house. Okay well when stuff starts happening when he's in the pool I literally screamed freaked out looks pretty good but even like the Amish is other movie 'cause the director's name is the same as engorge bastards as like Oh isn't and then the flame thrower and like whatever whatever but it's not not yeah yeah and so I I thought performance level everybody was great and so I felt like it balanced everybody everybody very well and actually could've used more of the CAPRIO. I thought I thought the HE'LL I. I thought that I thought that yeah so 'cause he. Kinda has these like in and out kind of periods where he'll drop out offer while same thing with Margot Robbie I would've liked to have seen more of her but I understand from the historical historical stark. Oh perspective why they did that Yeah <hes> I did love and I think we're watching it will help but the scene like that you mentioned Jeremy at the Charlie Manson's yeah <hes> ranch. Yes now really cool. That was very very good. They'll move worries who asked him Butler. That was burster. We're who is the old man because he's the only one guy that was. I'd seen him somewhere before. He's been he's been in a couple of things using the hatefully as well yeah he was the <hes> John Lewis channing tatum. He's willing so more cowboys together John Wayne. I recognize him from from more derm hatefully scary and the cowboys. That's a good movie. He learns is when I saw brewster and I was in my head. I was like Bruce Jenner. He was Django Yeah Yeah Yeah. He was still cheap. Just like such a scary line. Yeah it was so evil in that movie just like five seconds and nutritiously Dan. That's an evil man it the teeth say all of Tarantino's movies take place in the in the same year I love it. We'll Tarantino films in his universe and then there's like the universe sick so like for instance like the kill bill series are like films in this universe yeah which makes sense yeah but I did like the kind of different sides of Hollywood how people like Brad Pitt he's working with a list or not a-list but he's in the heart of Hollywood well I nine and then he drives back back and lives in a trailer and then whereas DiCaprio has been kind of Instarem but he's struggling and so just the different sides of my dad's was Leonardo DiCaprio's care towards very clint eastwood he until his career wet the the yeah the Vibe I got from cliff booth like when he goes back to his trailer. The vibe was that he that's what he wanted like. He was just live in a trailer behind a drive in theater like he doesn't isn't what does what he wants. He doesn't want like Rick Dalton's huge mansion now <hes> all that stuff and so now I maybe just because I was so immersed but I I was not expecting the how things play out no but clearly you know me. I'm I live in the moment I mean I didn't see that coming either right and so how that plays out is like as Tarantino's you could possibly get in the best possible way. I thought it was the sweetest just because it's just like it makes finding I thought the ending was so sweet and yeah it was actually very emotional. I was like wow it was. Probably I think the most <hes> <hes> like poignant of any of the Tarantino films also it plays into the title once upon a time in Hollywood which is sort of ferry to less there is that reference to <hes> Walt Disney from the little girl and Sharon Tate Eight is essentially a princess in this movie sure she's a Disney princess right. That's the true and everyone that will be cut out Fazli easily. I wasn't expecting the ending. Should we check finish your thought. He just take what he said. CUT It out. Put it into the. In this one might expect I didn't effect ending like I was sitting there in the theater and I was like man. I use the bathroom down down scene when he was going to her house. I was like they're probably I'm just GONNA be talking and stuff. I can go to the movies did no. I didn't I miss you miss the Commercial Nah I didn't miss you got the commercial because I was like Oh. I'll wait till like the you know. The full boarding Gordon Credits show up who clearly the only ones who stayed in the lighter still down your resort every every movie nowadays you gotTa at least stay until the now until the long credits just skyway for light to Woah oh. It's like every movie now. I'm not leaving till let's go up. You got to be some. Why did after use bathroom so I went after everything was over? That's good to know I just wasn't expecting act back to the credits. Yes the commercial are missing what it was it s a smoking commercial for what for cigarettes with Backer Man Apple is Leonardo DiCaprio and the irony. Is You know he's the smartest man on earth is very conscientious but he smokes so I was like it's a super Meta in Quintus trying to get Leonardo capital. Stop Smoking. Then heaving was good decide no but that was some good heaving in this movie yeah takes in real life yeah oh no now. He does the vaping now he does the e CIG. Oh great yeah well all right well trying okay. What are we doing now? Let's give star ratings. Oh that's a shame let's give star rating and then we will do a spoiler discussion that I'll put at the end of the show right so out of five stars for everybody heavy five for me heavy five life with the heart as well chloe's you give this ten Leonardo DiCaprio's if that's that's barely nothing I give this like okay. Should I tell you what I'm picturing. Just go for it. That's what we do. I give this Leonardo DiCaprio in <unk> from spacey Earth from Interstellar Style Okay Yeah. It's very grassy though I'm pretty sure in my what my brain picturing Leonardo DiCaprio is God which is an appropriate but but that's my anyway we have worse God's Than Leo Anyway. Basically no you'll have to come back to me is very hot. In here. I agree on okay in my mind yeah lots of stars Little Planet Leonard Capital of sitting on top of it very very grass Greenie. There's no natural gas just solar panels. It's all grey and then there's now I see Cana floating beer. So what can I tell you you asked me. I mean and it's open interpret that Abbes yeah okay. I gave it a five heavy heavy. Well heavy. I give it you should just describe my him. I it it is possible. Shake hands. She's Kinda. Advocates worry a little bit swirl. It's like shaking. It's like if Tennyson kill you feel but I'm very scared of tennis so that makes more of the last thing I don't know why tennis job yeah very scared of it cool. Have you have you from Jacob. Bowman out okay I think on this too I in my head I do my own personal. Finally when I actually like ring things out of ten my head so I give this movie it came out of the theater seven hundred ten <hes> which would be three point five so then I have to sign for went around upper down <hes> and I don't like this movie as much as I like Django which on your scale would give I would for me. It would be agendas like an eight out of ten so that would be a four star like this movie Django so therefore has to be a three three and a half Jammie well because I though we don't know we don't we do we do have okay then I give it three and a half stars all the who what on earth that of what I would make things we will be this move. I'm little rather than too much because his movies so good. I'm speechless. I know how to deal with it. We'll just let it let it out gradually trying. That's breathe here. I thought it was very good. Speech impediment worsening as we go Django five I one day I love safely. I am so hateful towards what's not good. Oh my God all right what was on the turn eighteen. We did a Tarantino show right now. I remember talking about we talk we talk. We've talked about kidding. We it's been brought up a lot back and find the show where I say yeah. I can't believe this will here before we get into way better than hey flayed. You know I love hatefully right. Did you see it on noxious roadshow. What hatefully roadshow version yeah I saw it in the what was the big film Roge- sixty something a little booklet I still have offered I got the got the booklet with the whole and I didn't have a seat and I still I mean I had to see? It was like the debugging with missing we're in front. It was like it was like the host too self absorbed just before we get into anything else all right so listen is good yeah all right well. Let's let's move on to our top twenty. Five most alright continues Awful Star Trek movie. Oh I'm dying. I'm dying ever GonNa Happen. I don't think it's like the holy grail or whatever puts his bare feet. That's the scene I'm waiting for <hes> but no yeah so like we said it's going to be this is twenty tin through two thousand nineteen all right and so we've all compiled our own personal lists so one of the struggles ask please these. Are these films that we I. I did this list of the films that I think are the best films not necessarily my favorite films and that's where we differ I think again it's completely personal so whatever way you did it. It's a little bit of both for me. I think it's like these are like films that I love but also like films that I think are also a little bit but I think it's I think especially in the especially in the ranking that's where like I really Kinda picked favorites. Yeah is in the ranking sure I was just thinking that initially I had happy birthday to you but then I was like honestly no this belongs. Here is the the that's a great movie. Never will be entered question as to what makes folks like the best fit your enjoyment versus the quality and who for it gets muddled for me because I go see a movie. I really enjoy and I'm like I can recognize the quality or lack of quality of this movie to non answerable. There's no happy birthday to us not on my list right movie. They cancelled the third number three. I saw that I would finance it myself if I heard it yeah but ah I think we all have a little bit of both all right so I think respite launch he said where are you going to put the purge on your list and I'm like uh nowhere. That's that's fine. My Pen died at seven thou- don't have your top seven. I got now. She has a it's just not like I said I did from my just from my brain. Can we all just throw out a few honorable mentioned. Let me let me set up the art so what I think we're GONNA do is we're going to start a we'll go round will start at twenty five. We'll go twenty five through through eleven in quick succession and so that way but if someone has a recent to stop somebody that's fine but then when we're yes but then when we get to ten we'll kind of go one one slow at once at a time go around the table and so I'll wait. I'm wearing a watch and so let's let's stay right in your state or merchants or now last because that will spoil. What are we going like twenty? I five through eleven or twenty five twenty four. No no it's going to be in this right now. Twenty five through eleven for a single person so who wants to kick us off here go for a pen German all right all right number twenty five <hes> one of my I think one of my favorite buddy movies ever one of the best travel movies ever like ever not just of the decade <hes> Mississippi Grind a number twenty five unconscious Ryan Reynolds and Mendelsohn yes to gambling movie about guys that are GonNa play yeah see twenty four guys that are GonNa play no matter what Captain Marvel Number Twenty Four Grades Kiwi picture with the meal for the wilder our right. I gotta Pop that on Mine Number Twenty three. It's such a funny movie <unk>. Anybody hasn't seen that it's just adorable and Sam Neill is like perfect. I wish Samya was like my great uncle or something like all right. Hey uncle heck <hes> that's his name. twenty-three Inside Lynn Davis the screen <hes> you know I it's it's. It's on the list because it's good. I didn't like it and that's what's though that's all right so I think I'd say no no again completely lately personal. That's fine. That's I can't i. I appreciate that it's a good movie. I thought the acting was great. I thought the sound was great. I thought it was shot beautifully. I thought it was well written and I just didn't like the story okay well. That's a little more. It's almost yeah okay. That makes all right. I think it's a bit like I think I think it's deserving to be in the twenty five but I just didn't really just didn't resonate with me okay but you respect what it's saying. Yeah Okay Great Number Twenty two vendors and game <hes> <hes> because you know I think it's <hes> I think trying to pull off that many great characters in the movie is deserving also thought cinematics it was good. I thought the story was good. I thought and I only wanted to pick one of these marvel films and I thought this is the one to pick Ragnarok on my list twenty one before midnight which is Great Richard Linklater which one before midnight so it's the sort of the combination of the four series you watch all the really good enough. The last one's better than the second one is the first one <hes> number twenty is three billboards <hes>. I thought <hes> Sam Rockwell gave just like an absolutely amazing performance in one of my favorite performances of the decade <hes> I thought he was he played a guy that was really in love with beginning but by the end you slowly Kinda understand him and I thought that was so incredibly nuance because at the beginning you hate this guy this guy's a racist the bad cop but by the end he does honorable things and you're like even though I dislike this guy it's it's rounded. It's rounded an exactly number. Nineteen is Lincoln really only on there for day law. Nah Not really only on there because Dan Lewis is performance <hes> which was one of the best performances ever. I think it's safe to say <hes> but the rest of the film <hes> not so much number eighteen eighteen of circle network <hes> it is what does scat two armies more. Could you want have three maybe but there's the guy who comes a cup of Joe the one but the one Eisenberg cancels out one of the army's so we gotta get him with the guy looks like Timmy. Oh yeah from Gauguin Khloe vilis look like Armenia same same like Gary in their number. Seventeen is the conjuring. I think it's probably in the top five best horror movies ever. I think it's I think it's the best job haunted house film ever <hes> and also when the trailer freaks you out like the I mean who doesn't remember that I genuinely doubt how'd you know I i. I don't remember that but I I love the movie. Okay the clapping when it's I don't remember it from the trailer. Though I'm just thinking lights on lights up there were sixteen whiplash which you know Jackie seven miles oh yeah number fifteen is <hes> moonlight just getting it's actually la La land charities Yo those yet number fifteen Pena's lowland not moving no no. It's a joke oh not funny. I thought it was the that that it was actually moonlight on your list. <hes> it it. It's in the admissions so here's here's why here's why can't here's why moonlights not on my list because I was watching the theatre halfway through and I got a phone call. It was family thing I had to leave. I never got around to seeing the end of it and I didn't WanNa put something on the list of the having fair enough <hes> so that's why it's not on our fair enough that being said I think <hes> Marsha leaves performance was outstanding in that movie amazing and like talk about like doing a lot with very little screen time he blew away. Yeah Oh shoot now only name nine watts. No Harris is love. She's really Gal. Number Fourteen is the fighter which is the Great Christian bill with Mark Mark and Amy Adams and great crackheads in that movie like you've never seen crackheads room like the acting like you know yeah yeah <hes> number thirteen is like my Christian Bale thing number thirteen American hustle. I Love Love Love Love this movie so much <hes> I love the soundtrack I love the acting a little story <hes> as well my my all time favorite opening title sequences ever Oh yeah they're walking down. The hall was opened playing dirty work by steely Dan. Yes and it's just gold it is it makes me so I watched that opening sequence. All the time makes me so Napoleon dynamite the opening down number number twelve is the master <hes> both Home Sanderson. Yes great movie very magnetic. Johnny's not as good yeah. She's an yeah. I actually love Amy Adams <hes> although I did it put nocturnal animals on your <hes>. That was Nice Penn Right now dad's a movie you know Tom Ford. Did I think right then rounding out number eleven is <hes> twelve years a slave which was a movie that I was like I went into spring like this is just GonNa be like historical drama kind of thing but the performances were so gripping and <hes> Bender Fasih he was he was bad that movie <hes> talk about move. That didn't mean right bad. Oh yeah bad is a bad guy. He was like a bad man. Yeah Yeah the short circuit permanently the actress that plays <hes> she appeared in younger <hes> Lasko under Lupita in Yongle yes <hes> yes. She was outstanding Tessa Thompson and also Kevin Sargent Monet also the <hes> I will survive speech <hes> Oh yeah yeah <hes> and then also the scene where they're burying somebody in their singing <hes> the River Jordan song that she's like chilling yeah. That's amazing movie number eleven twelve years a slave all right Jacob you wanna go for it yeah. I'm just reactions are listen. I I think that's a solid list. I I mean. I don't think I don't know if there are there aren't many I would disagree with as to why I mean. Not all of them are on my list browde. Say It makes sense as to why you chose them club. Oh just hates David O Russell Yeah Yeah I think I saw four hundred twenty one movies between two thousand ten and two two thousand nineteen and so obviously what do you mean in that decade I saw four hundred twenty one total easy more movies than that right so if you saw cast from that seconds from from that decade okay hundred workers and like for example like half the movies you just listed I've heard of and I know that they're good. I haven't seen them so. There are a ton of good ones that I missed but of the ones I've seen as a good disclaimer that thank you of the ones I've seen this is. This is the list there's less marvel here than I thought there would be. I was wondering how much you try try. Try not to just put every marvel movie on here. The only reason why I love me some backpack so I just picked the best ones so coming in at number twenty five we have Scott Pilgrim vs the world. Wow Weird winky dink right why I just referenced it. Oh yeah that is weird. It's weird directed by Edgar Right released in two thousand ten. Oh He's look at my list right now. You're just just a great movie. I read all the graphic novels and Edgar Wright is a favorite of mine now. Actually actually I think I already answered my question. Is this the only at great right movie on your list and that's what I thought coming in at twenty four cabin in the woods directed by Drew Goddard released in two thousand and eleven yes written by Joss Weeden probably the only thing by Sweden. I really really care for other than firefly far-flung good and I do like the avengers but I don't like what he did to them. Because everybody sounds like just Weeden for Wenping Yeah plus it also twice. I must like twenty three kingsman. The Secret Service Yeah Boy Okay Matthew Orange County on the list headed doctor off Okay Now von Twenty Fourteen Matthew von is another favorite of mine and I thought that this was a great satire of James Bond and sin incredible some incredible scenes some credible action scenes that weren't really hadn't really been on the scene in quite a while inside I shall I was brilliant. Oh yeah before I go further and other disclaimer. I WANNA make a head about like sixty movies on here and so I had to do a lot of snipping yes yeah so a lot of snip twenty two night crawler director Dan Gilroy released in twenty fourteen. Is they say an amazing job performance yeah Mary Holloway there were a couple of other Jilin halls on my list but they had they had to leave but frankly persia grateful interesting but but I think this is actually I'd have to say this is my favorite Joel performance of all time. It's your it is your favorite is the whilst the Jilin well mine is not real but it is mine. It's like the whole movement read No. It's a a good movie versus like favorite movie debate. You know what I mean yeah because when I think I think of October Sky Oh yeah those are good movies are going to grow the book yeah clearly shift to the MIC boot. I generally thought you were going to say. Can I just get through my stuff whatever you need Tom. twenty-one is X.. Mocking directed by Alex Garland that was police in two thousand fourteen would have been on my list except for the last ten minutes whereas decided hey women well it was it it was it was tough to get on the list but it made it made it on the list. <hes> Twenty Wolf of Wall Street started by Martin Scorsese Martine released twenty thirteen nineteen what we do in the shadows ooh directed by a man and his name is Tyco. Go Okay released. He's twenty fourteen great year for movies and what before that was a good year. It was fourteen in two thousand fifteen the year eighteen free fire directed by I thought I thought that that concept was so original. I like been really I love high-rise. It's not in the waste but it is an honorable mention <hes> looking forward to this new one. He's yeah what is it again with the shift. Is that cantor in that I think so yes army actually no that's a different way and I let culas too but yeah yeah just just the idea of an hour and a half long shootout. Yes I love that as well amazing all of it coming in at seventeen we have the disaster artis directed by James Franco released recent twenty seventeen. I just thought that this was amazing. Representation of of what's going on. I think it is at your phone. That might be your phone. Yeah some when there's UH causes the buzzing Tommy Oiseaux and just the room and and some people say that James Franco doesn't get Tommy why so like he he sort of just was overacting his mannerisms in this movie. I think this is the first good thing that Dave Franco's ever Ben because he's neighbors was fine. He's not the best he's I would. I would agree with you. I mean I <music> I'd like I know this is where I really really do like I thought he was. I thought he was giving a performance where he liked cared. You know there's a movie where I felt like this performance agreed. He wasn't just grabbing comedy paycheck Trek Fan Sixteen Zootopia by Byron Howard Enrich more released twenty sixteen. Yes this is one of the best animated films I've ever seen <hes> the messages the morals in the characters animation great for children. You know like it's teaches children something without like act through stupid you know like the message comes across a very it clear and very organized way. I like it a lot fifteen. It directed by Andy Michetti released twenty seventeen. Yes <hes> the original it is is just bad goofy goofy nonsense compared to it's. Just you know I'm sure at the time it was scary but I thought that this remake was incredible in every way all of the child actors are great. John Actors have come a long way. Child actors is used to be very bad children these days Hashtag Danny Children. These days are a lot better at acting than the great those better education for it or something because you know you go back to old like eighties movies and stuff and children are just affordable but one of the best horror movie experiences. I've had in a theater in a long time. You're scary. Though I I mean I think I think it's I wouldn't say I was like this war have to be scary yeah. That's hard to be hard to determine like everyone has a different opinion of like what I would say with. It's scary. I don't find it like I'm not like you know whatever but I I the horror are elements of it. I just find entertaining in that movie. You know like all the stuff it's creepy but it it's not say like awake at night thinking thinking read it but it was settled. Yes it is effective at what is trying to do it makes it entertaining in one way or the other so fourteen annihilation by Alex Garland released when he eighteen me up more than any drag people into more general audience you general audiences didn't really like this movie but critics critics loved it and I thought it was amazing <hes> much better than me <hes> and it just hungry. I read three books one night that lasts me showed up the next day with Dr last that last part the last part with the weird the weird alien like mesmerized the whole time I was like what is what is even going on and the that bear with the creates bear with the usual Natalie Portman on Amazon prime. Is it a heartache. I like it okay. We'll get to thirteen captain America the winter soldier very close to being on my list. I marvel appearance. Let me see I can't see my phone. Some sorry nope not me. What wasn't me most popular directed by Jerusalem? Anthony Russo released in twenty fourteen a lot of people consider. This is one of the best marvel movies I'd say early ones yeah but I think there have been better ones but <hes> yeah it's up there. It's up there definitely and <hes> yeah like I. I subbed this like week. I hadn't like I said I had more marble than this. On my list initially like I kicked off like guardians of the galaxy you know I think that that is a great one and I kicked off Ragnarok but <hes> I kept I kept this one shame and number twelve. We have another marvel movie Logan directed by James Mangold released in twenty seventeen. I think probably just out of all the marvel marvel property in general. This is the best one ever made out the by far like the like because they I don't think they really approached it as like a comic book movie they approached it as like a movie set in a universe you know a comic Book Universe Yeah just a great movie. Tears were shed emotions. Were felt me just just brilliant. You know the decision to make an R. rated was a great decision. Yes in yeah so amazing and coming in at eleven we have mission impossible follow director by Christopher mcquarry released twenty eighteen the best mission impossible movie one of the best action movies five stars like break all the way. She's good leg late break. Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise ended up breaking his leg and then just as a break leg and he said I'm there. He said how how high so all right there we ago cool any any any thoughts Jeremy <hes> I would say <hes> if I heard remembered that I saw firefight sodas free fiery fire it would have made my list. I haven't seen it. I've seen it really timely for what's going on in America right now about <hes> the ridiculousness of people that try to see power and also as a big history buff <hes> it was just a great lampoon and force and I think it was so expertly cast and written but also balanced in terms of its tone because they didn't <hes> make fun of the victims of communism they lampooned the perpetrators and I thought that was just brilliantly done written by the people who did Veep H._B._O.'s yeah it was adopted from a graphic novel first graphic novel Yep. Let me think of this movie is going to be anything like that anything new TYCO. I can't wait for jody rabbit. I am getting a little over the hill or stuff to be honest with you. We should give us an Oscar just because on principle or so I feel that out of professional if it was in color wes anderson style like they really didn't. I would have preferred anything but remark winning agree for that. That was a joke yeah. Absolutely black KLANSMAN didn't make my list but black landsman pro. I think Black Lensman was the best movie last year. Well we might be saying it might be up airman it. Yeah I mean for me. The book had those Gordon I thought the acting was brilliant at that Christian Bale gave a knockout performance thought it was one of the most original and funny scripts and a really long time and take a topic that's so important and but also incredibly complicated and make it digestible for <hes> audiences journal audiences I think is really outstanding and <hes> just a really fun movie informative formative important will act it just all around. I can watch the movie a million times and I think it's one of <hes> Ryan goslings best performances because he plays somebody that's like super smarmy and just knocks it out of the park right and Steve Carell doesn't amazing Gene Joe Yeah well. I'll he can't wait. Wait what premiered at every festival Globo out about that. That'll be a real currently. It's it's he wants to get some some awards attention right executive produced by Martino score says what would they give another actor an Oscar for playing the joker. I just don't know we'll have to wait and see. I think that would be be crazy. We'll be cruising controversial especially if one is as he would win as best actor not supporting actor that's right and I think there would be some upset fans about stupid. It's not his mouth night nothing to do with anything yeah. They've confirmed by their legs. His movies got nothing to do with anything like it's just going to be like a real story about real people set in this remind me of <hes> Shu Robert Deniro goes off the deep end. That's the vibe the gives the GRANDPA talking about the king of comedy. Yes see he knew yeah. That's about my number. Seven is SICARIO. I think one of the most like Harry loves the guy with the best soundtracks one of the coolest movies coolest settings I mean like when the landscape is the presence by Roger Deacons. I've really Milo bobblehead there every this this movie is just about tension and I remember watching it with friend. I saw it at the Varsity on Franklin Street in College. Shout shout out and it was I remember thinking this is the most intense movie I've ever seen because it just builds and builds and builds and it's just so much dread and they get to that bridge scene of the border and it's just like Oh my God Steve Jobs for me that almost made on my list yeah yeah so that's it's serious epsom Jacob. I will say on the phoebe while it documented in the show before the people are that one I one way to do it so my number six just because one oh yeah so number seven gist rewatch it the other night just to make sure it wouldn't even be higher but now it's right where it should be Isla dogs no of Christopher Nolan's Gung Ho Dan kiss one of the most intense credit right done guard down how I say but that's okay so it just incredible sound effects outshot amazing amazing every time I watch it it's so intense and Hans the Hansie score great and yeah that's my number. Seven courtesy of me and Henry have the same number one. It's we all know what it's going to don't drag it out of me Okay Khloe. Maybe this guy is worth checking out the maybe he maybe he's worth something so I watched the social network and it was amazing amazing. Maybe I should watch it again. I pay what you together. I thought it was very accurate. You you know like I mean Jesse. Eisenberg plays Mark Zuckerberg is like a scumbag because he was comeback discussion for another day. Draw me him a place wins because he is twins whenever Korea six six inch okay Oh this is a this might be a surprise as well. My numerous I yeah fix is demolition will take on so close that was on my list and I was like nobody likes. I like ice good. It is good. It was so much better than the one that has oh totally which I really wanted. I think you'd like it beautiful. That's a good one the trailer he's like breaking breaking everything Oh yeah. He breaks a lot of stuff. Yeah that's a good movie about like dealing with trauma. It is yes good one my number five another one six. Oh yeah so we're all on the same piss me off. No it's I would never is number. Six is terrence malick the tree behaviors. My Dad and that's the only movie The only movie my dad and I've ever not finished at least started I can't I can't get into lights here and smell. I like it's not forever Knight of Cups. Did you okay ah he's I get terrence. Malick whole thing but it's not for you yeah you're selling on Malik Yeah but for me just one of the most genuine kind of moving looks at a life life and then that person reflecting on their life at that time big fish great films well nice bed. Maybe I would have been on my list for two thousand ten all right point tens of thousands but. That for me and Brad Pitt. It's one of his best as well. <hes> Jessica chastain is great and yeah. It's it's great. I keep thinking I've seen all of movies and then I find one that I haven't seen lab. He keeps on giving tree of life. That's right okay so we're so I had no idea he was in like interview vampire. Oh what a movie meet Joe Black that was like his time if you ask me but he's a very attractive man in the nineties. He's good looking man so fair the long hair or you know see. We talked about this on the other day. I'm longhaired Brad Pitt Guy. You're short haired but that's I don't like long haired. Anyone know males generally just my hair's not shortest but like if a guy has my hair done so for a role never by choice my number five is the king's speech Tom. I loved this movie. I can watch a million times. I think it's a great movie that deals with <hes>. I think it's like a great. It's almost like a great war movie that deals like courage of a different kind I think <hes> I have <hes> people in my personal life that struggle with <hes> speech issues and <hes> we have family stutters and <hes> and <hes> it's just really it felt very personal and <hes> Jeffrey Russia's character is amazing and I just <hes> I guess I and also I love Guy Pearce's bad order brother performance and I think it's a great movie that deals with you know somebody. That's got the way to the world on her shoulders and one Moore thing and it's just like <hes> feel like everybody's been there. You know where it's like. You feel like you know yeah. It's it's it's also beautifully shot and is yes. Helena Bonham Carter is great in it. I think it's one of her best performances because she doesn't the Jizzle Blair self and can that anyway. Tom Hooper is doing cats moving quite it's GonNa be interesting. It's red into the catalog. If you ask me in a way does yes totally so but that's that's a good that'd be good Broadway show in momentum yes he is. He's in previous Mandy. Yes yes yeah number five whiplash one of my favorite movies of all time apparently Damian Chazelle release in twenty fourteen the reason I like this movie so much because I can relate to it <hes> <hes> it's too bad because because this J. K. Simmons van director character it's kind of again. Do I look for yes. Thanks my my band director like J.. K. Simmons characters like an inflated version of the way that he acted so is like was like my life on screen where you Russia or drager. It's usually a rusher. That's good to know but but yes so it was kind of just like it was weird because I was like because it's so relatable I just everything he's doing watching thoroughbreds sometimes we'd go through a whole a whole like like hour and a half class like he'd start to he started to warm everyone up and he'd he'd let go to tune the flutes and they they wouldn't be the right pitch and we'd spend the whole hour and a half to doing that and he'd throw Oh things and he had verbally abused people. There's a whole deal and so I was like this movie's relatable so good Hashtag. Ladyboy <unk> got fired NI- vendor didn't if I it's too busy at tenure ooh yeah tenure Hashtag ten here if he's listening he knows who he is and he's a terrible person. Shadow my number five. It has a good movie americn animals. ooh Wow that's that's interesting about America now. Oh you should Jay. You're the Heist Movie Guy. You should watch in Latin American animals. He looks like he could be one of them's still audubon right at the time I think so but now it's a movie guessing the movie tower heist a great movie broaddrick. Yes it's amazing snoop Dogg and still them. It's my grandma snoop dogg drive the car from Shrek. Mike Myers Eddie Murphy is Eddie Murphy Charlie Murphy. You're not coming up next then five Henry Oh sicario which have been set a lot next by moving for one of my favorite in films. I saw this moving maybe four times in theater and I never do that and I loved it more and more every time it's one of the few films have seen it and I love the more I see it. <hes> it is fifty. It is arriving arriving Jacob. Yeah and I love score. I Love Aliens. All maybe all of the actors in this film Hewlett Amy Adams. I like Amy Adams. I like <hes> <hes> <hes> Jeremy Renner. I like Laurence Fishburne Michael Stool Bark sure I like octopuses occupy which what the aliens look like. Yes I love the shape of the ship. I I love the amazing. It was the greatest like he really likes it flashback ever in a movie I think in all the way that I'm not going to spoil anything but like the way the flashback is like when you figure out what exactly is going going on. Oh that never happened for me yet. Done this movies and the linguistics and stuff and people were like well. It's not like hell linguistics work. It's like I don't really care both directed by Denis Villeneuve a new yes and then also the scores by the late Johan Johannson this morning Sakari on arrival. Don't dead person do not him. The damage is L. A. Yeah it's not dinners Villanova as people have have said before. It's not not dinners I at least thought his first name Denise Fence Ginny Ginny Timo Tangle Neuve so but that's a good one say Dennis Bill in a way. It's not that I'm pretty sure like Spanish or something Yeah No. It's fine. Yes Jacob Jake next film for. I don't know what he stood. Rival number four is baby driver directed by Egger right released in two thousand seventeen. I love this movie movies great. Who is the best movie I remember when you saw number four when he saw you were through the roof amazing amazing tearing it up on letterbox the box in my top four movies of all time <hes> I remember that at number four I guess just just amazing hits all the right notes for me? Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah. I love how we're kind of having we have a second layer to our show where their side conversations going on where people can pick up on it later into it brilliant brilliant Donelson say yeah amazing. I think Ken Rian Neier more. I got into a heated argument with someone who was like this. This whole movie wasn't said Tim musically basically gigabytes that it would be it was only like twenty seconds and I was like look your moment of break it down for you and I broke it down measure by measure. I was like like you see this scene will now dedicate. This is how long this scene is indeed the song they put over it looking at this motion going with this. This rhythm cool was like look he's too in that gum goes in time with the music because the music isn't actually in it look women the movie the movie James People to see the people see the Tequila seen like that's the only two thing seems the Song Tequila Lucky Lady Myself. It's a good thing for both of us here right him. You may speak but yet you're out of quote. UNQUOTE SODIUM SALT the number for my number four is if beale street could talk. ooh Wow that's it's based on one of my favorite books. Yes it's beautiful beautiful promoting to rewatch and not to this is definitely going to detract from the beauty of the movie making the statement by can't help it day Franko Yarmulke or screw. Come on so cool <hes> yeah I'm asking Jacobite goodness anyways number. Four is harmony harmony Curran's spring breakers Sony Franco's popping up here. They're killing it the twenty third one right. I'm just yeah just one of the best craziest satires and also very poignant in terms of how it's commenting on spring break and party coach or whatever you WanNa call it sounds we know a lot about huge. I felt like I was watching my last year remembering stuff you had forgotten times. There is in in it. He is this yes. He's a guy that people thought died in prison and when they only released and they release them they're released on what they say tattoos in the wrong. I'm I'm my miss that conversation research <hes> yeah <hes> Franko unbelievable Enron and said they wanted us to do a harmony Coron special so that I would have to be exposed to him. It would be a quite a time to be a time. I've got a friend who who <hes> who every time we watch a spring break movie now. He's just like I didn't think that was as good as being wasted because of this. It's hard to like you can't compare twenty one jump street. You're twenty two jump street. I love the chase. Stay Davydenko. Oh yeah no I agree with that. That's kind of not the right comparison but yeah just amazing and it brings out all the some of the Disney starlets and they kind of go crazy so it's it works you like that. I Tom loved the beach I read an article that said something about seventy percent of the beach bum when they were filming. It was like Matthew mcconaughey wandering around just like peeing in places sounds about right yeah yeah. It's kind of thing hydrated yeah. That's kind of what he does so but it's really good I heard some whenever three he's been mentioned before is <hes> the wolf of Wall Street. Oh Yeah I'm very high. I think this is maybe like the second bus movie about money after citizen Kane <hes> in about excess citizen Kane old movie is about twelve money. It's it's about excess. Absolutely it's about like absolutely. Is that all of us did you. I don't think Khloe now you got to check out our Retro Review of it to Butts with Wall Street number three. I don't know I forget get a good one number. Three Spiderman into the spider verse Oh directed by Bob Per Shetty Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman released released in two thousand eighteen probably the best movie ever made next to Logan. Yeah it does like the top two isn't fire on the list. Yes okay I took this was the lowest grossing Spiderman movie we saw that that sucks eight hundred million one of the best animated movies I've ever seen August the trailer Gamy Vertigo so I knew some people would love. It and I wanted to be one of them but I knew I have a friend who despises marvel movies. He does not miss a chance to tell oh someone how much she hates marvel movies and how much he loves math this just always every time we meet a new person wouldn't care needs a new person he's like. Have I told you how much anymore movies he and how much I love this is often often down. He hates him hates. Him hates them but he loved this movie. That's how I know. It's a good movie. It's good to know the opinion of someone you've clearly respect if he can I get it. I get all obviously Jacob Bridges Josh but Josh Ry three people accidentally call me. Josh happened a lot when we was going. We haven't gotten there yet. Oh my my numero trois. Uh is one spot time Hollywood a did he. Oh I liked it. Hey but that's a move I would do so I yeah definitely my number three rewind a little bit if you'd like to know why but we just we just reviewed that we didn't I some my number. Three is the social network and if it's been said already sorry I had to do it had to do it. She's not but let's not get into that. My number two is hell or high water. <hes> just we just reviewed that on the Heist Movie Bonus Show <hes> love that movie the watch the driving or watch no I was up in Connecticut those past week and I liked it and I've seen it in theater twice in Washington a few times <hes> on T._v. and with other people in the Theater Yes oh that's funny genuine question. Oh sorry I think it's a bad movie. Nobody was there. They restrict no either get people in the theater say twice in have just carry and genuinely scary yeah I oh I think this whole like new Western thing that's going on. It's coming back <hes> short <hes> I think I think it's new country yeah. Maybe yeah <hes> it's <hes> everything by that moves perfect everything wait our water or hell or high water. Oh you yeah so it's number two wow stiller film written by Taylor Sheridan Yep and when reverie on your list and know when rivers not on but nobody three rivers on in your top SICARIO and hell or high water away no he didn't do rival. Excuse me excuse me I Miss Paula Jacob. You think bill new SICARIO. Thank you see I guess who I got. My wires crossed Jagoda. When did no country member release two thousand seven close one number two is John Wick Chapter Three Bellum directed by Chad's to Helsinki released between nineteen crazy Allen talked about on the on the the juncture the best action movie ever made almost shoot better than the raid which was previously the best ninety over made laugh so they argue with you know idea and then after the rate I saw mish possible fall out and it was like this is the best action movie ever made but now it's John Wake three and I was like I shouldn't put all three of them on here so I just picked the best on week movie which is number three Ah because I was like I can't put all three? I wanted you can't you just can't do like I can't just put all three of them on here so <hes> so yeah great great film great violent. Can you guess we're number two blackhawks. That's Cheik Bob. Would you say he had had someone Jacob bullying a long way to go. Oh Yeah right recently courtesy of Henry's Blu Ray collection by klansmen great. It's amazing some of the dancy phone careful. You're from there x marking. I'll you would all yes just so yes so high number two for me under skin. I'm sorry I guess that I know what number I'm. I'm just one of the most unique unsettling powerful incredibly made movies I've ever seen in the score by Michael Levies also loves that movie <hes> yeah he does. He loves Johnson one the few movies he loves terrible movies. Yeah I must be right. Sorry hand it means Okay Koi. It's okay all right number one drummer for the decade Jermaine all this movie I was at I think came out and let me check with fact check. Oh Awkward Twenty Two thousand nine okay. It's not that way it'd be peaking. Nobody phoned German. You don't know where I do know pullback you buzzing on the on the Mike there came out twenty eleven soup beginning of the decade and so when I was with my dad camping we were likely to see a movie tonight and neither of US knew anything about this movie going into it didn't know it was or whatever and <hes> both of us loved it and the more I see it the more love and <hes> so it's it's for me. It's a ten because to be attended has to hold a special place in my own right also has to be nine as like film so like ten. That'd be like a nine as a movie <music> hostels. It's not it is it is <hes> midnight Paris whoa woody Allen Shocker shocker hot. Take Wow I had. I thought that I had never seen Woody Allen movie just because I don't particularly like what are you on another surprise never seen singly Allen movie but then the other day I realized I've seen aunts brilliant film uh-huh Mama's Kastoria movie. Have you one of the few discussions we've had favorite yep because it's my favorite you can never laughs at my mom's Alleluia. Let me and thank goodness. She didn't take it because she had my sister would be my step mom. <hes> so <hes> this movie for me is <hes> beautifully shot beautifully who scored amazing songs amazingly written <hes> satire that's heartfelt and <hes> as a a theme that's close into your my heart because as a history major I'm always swerve wistfully thinking about you know I was born in the wrong time and <hes> and it's <hes> you know just <hes> it's a ten today. It's town. It's on it's headed. It's the best film of the decade and I know that's me how <hes> you're actively yes. If we had more time I can make my case but hey we'll we'll save it for another time <hes> but now it's a Khloe next and that's that's independent of we gotta have our lady's dram moment over here. Sure sure yeah yeah yeah yeah we can do that. We pay. We're all mine mine number number one now you gotta know it. Oh Yeah you actually I hope so. I hope I'm right there. They're the same so we're we're saving it for last spirited away. That's two of them one nasty. I understand go henry. Go Lady Bird. Oh shoot. I messed up. Where did we do to Labor Labor number five? Do I asked up the lady bird shoot to number. Look there's evidence you see five. It was before my of No <music> rules go for it to number ones. I don't really lady bird. I'm so stupid Khloe. Oh Gosh John feel bad. Hey Lady Bird is was is tied with nocturnal animals apparently for number five five no American animals number five. I'm really mad. I'm so sorry okay but my number one number one is Miss Stevens so shallow me Kim the Xiaomei to double Tim Okay there we go. They're both my number one because Timothy Shem is number one of the two thousand ten. I fixed it. I fix it. Thank God I feel better all right you too on the CATA. Jacob said you said John Wick three is the best now just leave it. Okay ready on the after. I'm really countdown from three okay ready three funny. I don't think we do you have to. I don't think so I guarantee you know He. He missed a lot of five favorite pixar movies. He said he's depends on genre your definition okay listen three to one. Yes yes yes Jacob. How is how is fury road not well? It is it is an action movie but it's I I I view in action movies like fisticuffs and Brian Kelly and like you know connects. Railroad is a big big. This is rated car car an arena thing rated R. Cars well by George Miller and released in two thousand fifteen the perfect movie. I I agree respect for the the one thing that one takes on the show have become home that I don't WanNa be that Guy 'cause I. I yeah then we bonded. We create you know. I don't know we're not going there. You knew I was GonNa say I was GONNA say like he's still controversy controversy and sparked <hes> no I just you know I thought it was just like all right. Practical Effects The deal why oh I live for Brad Komag yeah well hey you can't. I think there's a reason why we had C._G.. C._G._I.. Come now just kidding. Oh Wow close their jeremy again the only C._G.. In that movie was like the weather and stuff right arm pretty much dust. Oh wait was obvious child. Gosh darn it. I thought I was doing so I really done. She sees ignore my whole freaking Zo okay well. I guess that's about it for the show long show. That's the longest we've ever done is it. We've been here over three and a half or over sixty. It's a long one so we will save cramp is Gray Jacob uncramps Jack and Jill telling when he's six a favorite Alpa Chino in that movie. Oh he's he's good. He's good. Nobody really campus is great okay. The low gingerbread is checking the Boxes Fox's practical so all right well. That's yeah we'll save mail and everything else for next week. Obviously because we're we're running a bit long and we'll have places to be so all right well. We'll <hes> again. Thanks to everybody for making the less Iran I precision refund. It was <hes> who do you so just just one quick thing. Like who do we think has the most similar lists of these two have the same number one. I feel like we're pretty similar like we feel the wrong water. I feel like close if I had woken up on a different day. I feel like I would have had close lose because yes she had a lot of movies. I like Jane Eyre a lot of mine. That were Pie. You had down low so so but we're too slow. That's probably that's probably different than just preference genre. I would say yeah. I think that's the thing I think we all kind of different tastes. I think it worked pretty well. I'm so mad ladybird to be fair. Honest to God is on my list. I believe you literally Charlie in the correct. Order pen was a strong honest creamy green. It's there in the Ingraham show me the annihilation relation was my only narrowly Porterville. I only had one to considered Jackie but I the new thor those yeah. Oh Yeah Yeah. I'll even see it. It's got taika Natalie Portman. What more could I really asked for Tessa Thompson as well yeah? I know she's right so yes next week. I don't know what we're doing. I guess there's Hobson Shah but I have what the F. is that the new food the new Jesse Eisenberg comedy that movie only look to excite the art of self defense there are self defense seventy. Maybe better better title but crawl. I talked already ready yeah but we'll figure out yeah no ideas and use my my regal free small popcorn on something. We'll have to jump on that day so yeah we'll Jacob and Jeremy Armie. Thanks for taking the time is always respect yeah. You're always welcome extravaganza. Yes you're always welcome and they give you these small crimes. They expired seven days yeah well well. Who's got who's got the time right? We all are all real theater same different. It's usually about eleven eleven fifty for our Beagle is six dollars. Will I go to like a fancy city through eleven fifty but when I use my students count it's like nine something like quarters stable thick so you got that Regal Crown Club six dollars dollars for like a an evening any en showing that's like when I go like noon show six dollars. The mandate prices like eight and if you're in the wrong theater though value. How much do you pay for price? It's about six thirty. I think just just real quick crazy two thousand or twenty ten better decade. I mean I think the Obama versus the the two thousands are far superior than the twenty minutes. I Have Great Hope for the twenty twenty five twenty ten by large. Were just crap. Wow I thought I thought this was this was a terrible decade films. I think yeah just I take yeah. I did aww all the Batmans you had there will be blood. You had no country for old men. You had the Jason Bourne piggeries just so much you have the Harry Potter I mean you had like fast and furious like halfway decent save it for the two thousand S- best up show signed uses a good when we circle back where it's at it's hard to say but every five shows we should do different decade. This is five shows temporally MOMS eighties seventies eleven it. We'll have to figure it out Jacob before you all the way down to the great training camp at seven thirty okay. Let's let's wrap it up real quick but chloe being here with everybody. It was Khloe as always great to see you uh-huh keep me updated about the cat sitting thank all right. We'll figure figure something out Jacob option too so all right well. We hope you enjoyed the show. Tonics canucks weekend next week by the way Ali Oh we I'm going Saturday told you I need you. Oh main right so anyway famous personnel bump into their Mr King Stephen King. Oh Yeah I'll find him well. We hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did. Why don't they have we'll see you next time? <music> spoilers ahead now for once upon Hollywood nine hundred twenty eight gazillion really billions dollars okay if that or sheriff stars yes I was I left out loud with the flame thrower that was I mean the whole the whole ending sequence was just just out of this world funny I mean it was just so over the top and so perfect and it's like movie stars taking revenge on the public is and I think that's what the Tarantino saying. It's like you know people have complained about being violent so it's sort of like you know he's just going to have as characters just recap on the viewers and because there's a whole conversation about them lose well. That's why I like it I ask can I like we've been inspired to do violent things and he's basically saying that ornaments bullshit. <hes> 'cause you know crazy. People are going to do crazy things. They don't need inspiration <hes> I I also would come down more on that side than not <hes> in terms of in terms of like cinema. I would say like people are less likely to <hes> I think there are definite dangerous psychologically glee to violent films but I don't think <hes> like copycat actions are necessarily one of those <hes>. I think there are exceptions to that though like when it happens like clockwork I don't like clockwork orange. <hes> breath think for the most part. I don't think <hes> people I think people it's not like you go see <hes> John Wick and decide to do something terrible. I think you're probably already thirty disturbed. <unk> Chadwick is the yeah I just do. Spoil why it so the third time yeah yes so all right well. We'll get into all of that but so now what some spoiler stuff now at we'd even talk about that scene on what the girl on the the West is how come I heard someone say that was a great scene so it's kind of an idea. Yeah what does the scene were to Capri was talking with a little little girl after on the porch. That's my Alexis amazing. I think she's I think she's fantastic yeah. She was star Yeah but that scene is amazing and I didn't even think she was that good the liberal she had so missed notes for me but didn't even matter because look. It's do their kid. A couple of things I liked was that <hes> thirteen has always been good with the <hes> the whole like I mentioned earlier like checkups gone anywhere it's love if you introduce a gun in the first act better go off by the end of the movie with the flame thrower and then the acid <music> cigarette that comes back later. There's like comedy short period where that's introducing comes back but INFILL MC time it's six months but <hes> yeah the whole in scene is very Tarantino slayer bloody investment over the top you know like the girl was like her face by like a dog food can and like all of the fights I Brad Pitt gets giant base. I think he was dead. I assume be passed out but the woman behind him is he dead but every time Brad Pitt like punches someone this giant base on his fist punch punching it was horrible. That's the stress he said He. My Dad has been in some like his character. I don't know if you know that or not. He's on the show about a month and a Half Years Clyde character and he's been in a lot of physical altercations like a lot and some of them like the distorted never have very acceptable Robert Redford. Maybe not no slow start time yeah but <hes> yeah but like we didn't tell the story about his taekwondo instructor run here with big bonfire. Whatever yes point is every time you see? It's like watching a medical. Show was pop trash can do it. It's very annoying than this. He every types got hit interface said well. That's it he's dead. He said this is not real that guy. If he met her dead I mean he nobody cares up. We Know God not Leonardo capulet on a time machine back in nineteen sixty nine. Oh and they tried to tell me the broncos trailing showed come out yet. The song and Quinton would never mess up jerome would never met that up. I don't think so and I thought is I saw I'm a fan of Brad Pitt. I really liked cliff booths. In this movie. He's introduced is like this really cool laid back and you're like Oh this dudes awesome and then that scene with that with Kurt Russell I thought that was so funny and he took me kind of a backward we on campus. Come on man like what's wrong with them. Give them a chance and it's just like he was like what yeah good but I think is creepy vibe yet but I thought I was still like he's cool. You know the lady the plays Russell's wife in the movie the stunt coordinator Liberty is actually the stunt coordinator for the movie and she's worked with a couple of times. She's been choosing hateful eight couple. Yeah Yeah <hes> yeah. I don't know maybe maybe maybe I'll plays. We don't know we don't know how it wasn't that gun a Harpoon or me off the boat. Do we know this is not Josh was hell annoying. I probably would have to say he said presents been trying to get a hold that it's like a very comical thing of just like so much bragging arguing and and then just Harpoon obviously but also by talking to Bruce lead he's like the guy killed his wife and got away with it Yeah No. I don't think it supposed to be. I think you were supposed to feel like well he still I mean <music> like an O._J.. Thing Oh shut up with your O._J.. Don't get me started on O._J.. How dare you know no no nobody likes O._J.? He's I know Oh why brought me Buzz Sophie. Push on twitter those Li Oh God decree tapis. I've got some things to sort out with some people and he said like GonNa kill it in nineteen. I can't say that Jesus boy but no I. That's what I'm saying. I cared too well because we're in tonight each other like that way to like. He comes off really laid back but he killed his wife again. I mean I'm not mad at it. It's a fictional universe worse things could happen okay whatever but then we are Caprio brielle comes off like super with he comes off onscreen as like <unk> Schumer Schumer ever and they like very you know emotionally whatever variety vulnerably but then also he comes comes off like a jerk but he's like sweet about cliff and then the I liked I was very upset for a second now but not in a bad way you know upset like you're supposed to be in a movie not like upset with the movie right you feel me yes. I guess it's confusing. I headed clarify by for like when I thought they were going to be like in e to Mama Tambien type deal words like and they never sled rather again right. Oh Jeez those but then obviously comes back didn't quite work that way which is narrated the scriptural though really yeah okay because I was like this isn't Tarantino again. Thank goodness narrated the and I was like that's not the reason like the movie but I it would come in but now I didn't put this movie appreciated the what you're appreciated that he didn't put himself on yeah he added unlike that usually thought has Django forgivable because he wasn't a main character the main character in reservoir dogs yeah but he was like probably also like working on like a tight budget and he's like I can just play this also. He wanted to be an actor exactly that's so I never saw dust till dawn. Oh my bad not pass bad yeah is that this is a good as he ever is so the descendants. That's what my top twenty five after the show so Ashley thing I was that I didn't know this was going to be another movie where Peter Kern Tino rewriting history because like inglorious bastards obviously huge history this I figured out at some point did this was going to adjacent to the Manson burner thing but in this version of the story they like go to the wrong house or something now they don't go there on your mind cliff like comes out and actually jerk and are gonNA kill. Yes sir mix the two now but <hes> I thought it was I. I did not expect that because they played it so real yeah. I didn't see coming and I like I was actually getting weird. I was like you know I don't that was one of the reasons that I have with this move. 'cause I thought we were gonNA see the murders and I thought it was going to be really graphic. 'cause I those would turn team was going to do and I was like. I don't know how I feel about people like watching a murder for entertainment you know but you have me. You're a proponent opponent that that <unk> I take it back upside the conversation the one where we were talking about violence the other of you know like a month or to go where you're on and we were talking about violence in cinema yeah. I don't know I guess I think but going. I guess it depends on what you're going for. I don't know I would have to think I'd have to listen to what I said. I mean. I'm sure ideological. It was just as good talk guitar but but yeah I I guess I just wasn't <hes> but then anyway when when they spoiler when they kill them sad guys the Manson family those people might yeah. Oh Yeah Watson was real guy. I think he's still in jail and Susan played the vendor things girl. The famously got cold feet and became the star Star witness for the Susan Atkins shoot yeah they all had like really tragic lives after that I mean like well like four babies. Well you know it's I don't know because like <hes> there's a lady. That's <hes> you know she's. I think I can't remember which one it is but like squeaky firm got out of jail and she was like the ringleader and it's like so you have somebody that was like not. I'm Pr- I could have my facts wrong about this but I'm pretty sure one of the ladies that still in jail <hes> was the one that got cold feet and it's like how can you be the ringleader and get out but then like like one that didn't actually do anything and still be in jail factual about the system. That's the case like was on her rolled over on her more. Just person had the more just best outcome so maybe she is comfortable in that right but I mean also Charles Manson as far as I know he didn't wasn't in the movie right now he he was the guy who was the creepy guy that wave at just showed up trough man up play by him. I don't know but he's also playing Charles Manson in mind I was like was it like in that room but the guy at the end is the new season the mind hunter out no not until fall. I believe that's a great so <hes> but no I think they I mean they played well in terms of you thinking you're just GonNa Watch the Sharon Tate. I guess I guess I guess to answer your question. I remember what we've talked about. I think the answer that point it matters if it's done if you treat the victims of crimes and like a tasteful way and you don't <hes> celebrate the murderers and I worry that Tarantino was not going to handle the murders in a tasteful way and so I felt bad about that like I was like okay. I don't know if he's going to go in there and it's going to be like the end of Django where just going to be a slash blood fast and so I was like I don't know how I feel about this. You know like if this is GonNa be like he's GonNa. He's GonNa Cross the line here and I'm not okay with that because I thought it was going to be needlessly violent. You know that's my issue with not not that I know that was what I was worried was going to happen but then when Dennen and then it was sort of a relief because it's like I don't WanNa see a pregnant woman. Get murdered with a knife. <hes> you know I don't WanNa Watch that <hes> so but now he again he flips it and right exact viewed the flame thrower was hysterical as he I didn't. I didn't think US going in to kill. I think well I mean obviously their intention for being there at I was to kill Sharon Tay but I thought it was just going to be some big goofy mishap where they accidentally go into the wrong house of Shammai. Yeah hits characters REX everybody by I guess in the end they decide that they just change their mind but Leo's just in the pool. The whole time doesn't even know what's going on until that garlic crashing sliding glass door you forget there and like breath tripping on acid the whole time it's really song. It's just such a solid yeah so I do love just one random thing is the scene where also she was great. His wife feels wife was so strong. No no liquor J._C.. Bring comes on and he's just like it is a he's GonNa Hippies broke into my house. He's like my buddy in his dog killed two of course so last one torch we yeah that scene is incredible we when they got it's just such sweet mover. Sharon tate invites them to even more weather just like cut. It's about their so so much to this movie which we talked about how he's like. He's like he's fading at point at Ski Lives next to me I could be in you know the next Rosemary's baby whatever and then he finally gets to meet Sharon Tate and his career they were Ah yes <unk> who they loved it yet. It's just really sweet yeah. I think the whole a lot of it demonstrates like outside of yourself. You have the capability of being will so much more and like just if view pay denton to you know what I mean. What was that show he was on Rick Dalton's show Tony Law and that's not real right now lancers yeah? I know they like I'm here for a handbill. I love me. I am a set for Lancer for this movie reused the said for <hes> Django in this movie the one where they're shooting the Lancer seen on doubts yes said from the town where <hes> Christoph Christoph Waltz his character <hes> getting them do oh. That's right yeah yeah but no that that's the sequence with the where they just play it as a Western isle. It's so good. The Fan is all his in many slow. He's the only one who does that. Many slow burn just like slow-burn. That does one thing that I think Lee Leo did really well in. This movie was acting like acting like a guy. That's not really that upgraded acting anymore because like in the in the Lancers seems he was like he was overacting those scenes intentionally heartbreaking but at the same time we're playing it up flight one. It's funny heartbreaking because we don't have such a good actor like the simultaneous. What do you think this will happen to him and like how is that what you're so sad rain? I had to stop part of my brain told me to throw this penny honesty guys come wash did you. Did you see they're asking some of the address like. Would you ever retire liquid turn to retire. Would you ever do that and Brad Pitt's like he's like he's like maybe he's like. I mean I think it's important to have like other hobbies outside of acting and the interviewer was like what are your hobbies and he liked just paused and was like I guess that's just for me to think about and like just walked away array others like he doesn't have any hobbies effing planet knows Brad Pitt not the reference hobbies. You know their owners like Jim. Carrey showed up till like why are you at the fashion show and he's like I just wanted to find the most pointless so you find that you show up to designing and then fair now. She's so disenchanted enchanted very difficult time recently. Actually Jim Carey's a big ANTIBAC- ser and I'm like he still I thought you know I'm not sure he was for a while Teddy McCarthy as it was. I got alias name or not that that makes it better. People are people are dying. It's like Oh yeah. Kim Pulses somebody who did that yeah. Oh God meisters get in fights with the actors all the time. She's she's much better than I am. She's very calm if you know if I was on my own for Oh yes oh my gosh my family doctor distresses versus the ANTIBAC- sers that'll be the next Scott pilgrim yeah yeah the girl the played that Hippie that Seattle booth was driving around Dakota fanning now she was squeaky. Fan was the girl he wasn't squeaky the one caboose germ the squeaky girl that's Code Advani Yeah and then the girl she was in the Nice guys. Okay girl the girl that played that hippie girl isn't it's like her her breakout occur biggest biggest thing I mean I've seen her and other things. I don't know I mean. This is obviously a big moody but she's she's in the Nice guys some play Ryan gosling daughter in the Nice guys now why now she's the one who <hes> now the one. They're all searching for who gets the PUSSYCAT. Oh Gotcha okay. It's really being typecast. Honestly it's unfortunate but nice guys came out a couple years ago. Not that many the editing team yeah I do. That movie didn't make my list. It's really good to go on through injury rice. She was an episode of Black Mirror. Recently I was she the one with Miley Cyrus Injury Rice. She played reynolds daughter and then yeah yeah I don't watch. I know we're not going to your heads T._v.. Months Okay Yes T._v.. Yeah that's my show so but I'm not watching him abide mirror. I probably will really low you should you should host the T._v.. But so before it gets better it starts off pretty tragic but it gets better okay like Mirror Bay. Hey let's let's let's let's let's save that for another time. Henry Henry is trying to keep us. All try not really working but it's it's the best ending of any movie ever I would say it's one eight best in today's daughter odor and I do sometimes I didn't this time I firmly is the best ending of any movie ever because it goes so much outside of itself while still being a movie like it's just a movie right but it says so much Raj interact with the world and just the it's just a huge C. I sort of crying. I was losing it chloe. I guess I'm so sad. We didn't could see together again sometime. The more time hey I can say now say that pita didn't like this movie because they said that it perpetuated mean the idea that symbols are violent the pit bull that they had like clipped ears but they got it from a shelters and they're like where he was punching the dog head but it was also obviously like that everyone tell me finally someone who watched that movie and like dim thing that dog was the best like very cute sweet beautiful before great actor a dog beautiful actress as flag Chris Gibson. Yes what about that. Little girl says she's like. I don't like the word actress Yeah Yeah actor actor. That's really that kid I saw myself in that surprise no truly when she was like the best acting <music> on my wife and he was like crime just because he has no idea like she has no idea that the thing is here so here's no self-esteem anymore one. She has no idea that kind of impact she doesn't understand the context of their like their earlier conversation at all and <music> but then also in a way that's why so beautiful exactly because it's he that performance is the best that it's not like. She's obviously she hasn't had a whole life to see other things but it's like it's still like the best and that's amazing it very genuine. I read that moment of joke. I thought it was funny. Why is it was just because it wasn't great acting? It was long and it's what's funny about this so right what she thinks. It's great right. She thinks it's great acting it was great acting like but the fact that he has to agree with the trial about his own ability as an actor is like oh please man no kidding me I mean I I think it was interest-based commentary about how he's having to get back on his but in terms of him essentially getting confidence from a young actress yeah I understand I understand the opinion. I just disagree with it. I mean I think I'm I'm agreeing with what you're saying in terms of it being almost a joke as she's just saying this because she's very inexperienced and it's not really that the point is to the point is right that was the best acting he had done up to that point but it still wasn't ingred acting compared to what he's known for <hes> like temperature you know the good old bounty law bounty law tell emotionally it was it was just like it's such a ridiculous. I mean the the what was what was comedic about it was that his reaction is not your dog. His reaction was done in proportion to what the compliment was and who it was from no it was though because that's what he needed. That was literally all he needed. That was the only thing but that's what's comedic about it. Is that like a compliment like that should matter at all to anybody or okay well. I think that's just a that's a I mean I I don't I just feel like <hes> people should be more self realized. Nobody thinks that's in a way that that is by take I agree. That's like all that WanNa kid tells I mean which is like thank you but you know it's like why because to this kid you're though nobody's I think there is a little bit of everything but like I think it's just someone being completely genuine no matter how inexperienced they are just being saying something nice to him where he is so used to have it being very super vital Hegel. I'll even tell you like camp on Friday so they had this is going to be too long for. It's not worth it but I'm doing anyway. Just leave it okay so basically it was in the morning Harry Potter GAM afternoon fantastic beasts camp. We've been over this. Okay back sounds point it sick. Yes I agree so anyway so they made little archimedes which is a creature from Harry Potter. Whatever okay out of like plaster and paper and all kinds you know what I mean doesn't matter anyway so just a little boy Dawson what does matter and he has <hes> well? They call now narrow differences whatever he he had like probably ask Burgers. I don't know it's curious but but anyway but he's very sweet but he doesn't doesn't really do much in toll. I know you Mo- too much all the time kind of the boy's name L. Dawson now. He's you talk about you know. My Dad has asked Burgers. I he's thriving. It's not a bad thing is I'm just saying that's what he does. He's six. We'll we'll get to anyway. Okay content any content so he <hes> he so I paint the is on their little guys 'cause it's just either tricky like we want them to look good. I mean the kids don't WanNa do anyway on Friday. There like over their playoff drought okay so he walks in bike doc wisden's as I painting his eyes and he's been like very concerned about his is like all day because he doesn't he hasn't seen them like doesn't have control over them right so he just happened to walking see for God's Word Ball or something and I pay as is and Dawson just finished like what do you think he just stint there for like literally ten seconds no talking and I'm like freaking out inside like if you just like them like what am I going to be really upset. You know I'm GONNA I mean. Obviously we do that but like I don't WanNA crush right. He's literally ten exercises certainly goes these eyes are so amazing and it was like the best moment of my life like it's a kid. It's totally doesn't matter. He will remember it in like a year old. pry Mona Word is but it's those N._S.. Just because their kids in their whole arms the is is not the best is ever but just the fact that you can also he's touching this kid who's aspiring to be what he at least has been and to this kid who was burned to be all that and it is dedicating like obviously she's very dedicated to her craft and she's touched by his before. It's like the same thing I think it was sweet but it was also comedic. I mean it was like a genuine I mean there were laughs offs in my theater like when the gun and says you know Rick Ethin- Dalton and it's like that's comedic and it's like he starts crying. This and it's like he's crying onset. It's like it's a committee once I think having a mental break the a home movie is about. I'm having a mental ray I think well I think that in I guess not will help the discussion with there are both sides to it because I think even in the trailer they played as a funny moment yes but I think if if you not to sound pretentious but he kind of dig deeper a little bit in think about what his like visually from for kind of front and center yeah. That's what it is but then I think if you think about how his character has evolved you can have it both both ways the right because on the one hand self absorbed. It was funny when this kid because his face was like this the best actor Pas. I think one thing that what makes the scene nothing. I was saying the part that was saying you can't have it both ways about is that like you're saying like he self absorbed right and he's narcissistic sort of like you know I mean it's like they're bigger things in the world going on than you and like you're acting career and so it's like the fact that like this is the thing that he cares the most about breaking down in tears about is like that in of itself as pathetic and comedic why that's what makes us the whole big the whole big Agosta bigger common because he's a narcissist assists because nothing should like compliments should not make you I mean you know buy things should make you cry should be like charity and giving and loving and caring for yourself off though I mean it's self love and that's just I what I'm saying. I think that he's I mean obviously yes. He's an actor and he's rich and he's kind of live this lavish life but also I think it's communicated in that scene on the porch is that's pretty much all he's been able to do in his life and he's realizing how superficial that is or how delicate is well right and how easily the I guess the apple tides can turn yes and so I think are becoming so unsure of his future and his his own but he's such a he's a force of here. Let me finish he's becoming. He's this has been his whole life and he's now realizing how superficial that is and he's and he is yes and so he's angry at himself and then there's this tagging into that probably exactly ugly as it works total self-awareness well. I don't know but I'm saying some saying he's realizing how superficial his life has become an it is and he's angry at himself having done that and then he's also hope here he's unsure of his future because he's like well. I'm washed up and I've I'm good at nothing else and I'm not even good at what I've been doing for the last thirty years and this little girl saying something completely genuine yeah agree in some ways yes it can be seen as comedic and laugh at it but then I think a little bit deeper as to why he's crying well. There is someone who appreciates Ashley something that I've Don no matter how superficial it is. I think that ties into the end is well if you ask me right in a kind of roundabout way with what with what he's like. He taught like he's as good like he's better than he thinks he has. Some appreciates sheets him. Yeah girls have how superficial it is. I think he's doing his darn because he's surrounded by people who don't care and a few people who who feel genuine and think he is talented which again it's a Hollywood I think I think we just have different opinions about. I I agree I agree. I just feel like this is something I feel. A lot of my life. Is I feel like people <hes> relied too heavily on flattery from other people I think people should be self actualized yet but not included in doing so it means you have to accept and appreciate that other people value Boyd. No absolutely it was their opinions. No I think you can take other people's opinions but I think at the end of the day you know as long as you're happy with who you are nothing else but he's but he's not happy. Trump loves them south. He's pissing everyone else. That's different. I mean it's like with with the context within context within like a like a reasonable reasonable moral framework. I mean like there are people that are like who's to say clinically narcissistic but I don't think but he doesn't he sad what about he and he's not he might be nurses to. He's not narcissist at all by any means. He's he's sad about his own life. It's not the end just having a ended effect on other people like his downfall affects cliff his brother. It's very upset you compare him to call. If though God Guy Guy who like gets the job doesn't get the job doesn't really care. He's just GonNa live happy land. I don't think he does he does because like when when Brat linguine lyric every so we have split. He wasn't mad. He wasn't like you know you owe me. It wasn't like I've you know I've carried your weight all this all these years. I've done all these favors for you. While your life has been a mess you know <hes> it but it was just sort of you know he's a guy he rolls with the punches and I just I just don't know again I think but I I think that's two sides of the story. That's the point and Yeah Jacob Jacob here. I think that's the point of Jacob's taken Mike. How do you celebrate the end of an era between a man who is more than a brother but less than a life drink them and then also? I think you can quote a movie after yeah that was cool. That was awesome right on yeah but now I think again I think that's just the point of the two characters why they're there. They're opposites in many ways yeah and then also right because that's my point is I think I just think the the Rick Dalton character is a force right in him. I mean the at times I think it is the idea that would kill himself over not learning his lines right. It's not a bad now. Learning you know it is enforced because like that's the only thing he has yeah which that's what these that's what celebrity they become self obsessed. That's what it is. It's it's it's the love of yourself over love of anything else and it's like it's it's you think like I think think if I can't live up to this ridiculous expectation for myself and I'm not worth anything but who doesn't feel that way though you know but I'm not saying but but but you shouldn't feel that way but no but I'm saying. I think that he's he's your value doesn't come from anything. Extra comes from inside of you but then he's. I don't think I'm saying anything controversial. No not not controversial saying I think he realizes that he he's not even good enough enough to get a few lines of dialogue out for himself. He's he's been doing it. He's he's lived a life to where now he's struggling to. Even kind of dirty does remember a single line and he's and he's angry at himself for that <hes> not that doesn't matter what anyone else does when he's he's sitting dressed as a cowboy. He can't think of a single line I think I think maybe like revving friction with his. I think the girls line was very sweet and I think that was genuine and I thought that was a nice moment moment but what was comedic about it was his response to it and that's what we disagree about that and I'm I'm willing to live my life knowing that we disagree with that. Okay well Jacob any thoughts no all right well. Let's let's put it. Let's put it there all right opinion agree to disagree all right so anything else spoil it wise together all of chloe's.
