"I wonder if the Jay z NAS beef would be viewed differently. If this had been the third record released after ether takeover ether. And then if it was this instead of super ugly, which he put out anybody does it remember. This one. This is a great great song. I'll argue to you know. The way remembered, I guess now's won that battle JC won the war. But the takeover is the best record released from that whole period in my humble opinion. If I do say so myself right here in his my radio show. It's got my name on it. So my opinion is the one that matters the most right now eight five five two one two four two two seven. If you wanna get your opinion in before the end of the show expecting to talk to the president of the Milwaukee Bucks. Peter Fagin coming up in just a second here. And you know, the the bucks it's interesting they want again last night. I bet on them last night seven and a half point favorites on the road set shows you what they are right now and how well they've been playing. I still think there's like a a modicum of doubt around that team where you you look at them. And you haven't seen him do it before. I think that's one thing. I also think coach buttonholes are he's. Did a great job in Atlanta. But those teams when they got to the playoffs, and it was a one team versus one team matchup and teams could specifically game plan for what they did. They didn't do as well in the playoffs after some great regular seasons for Atlanta. So there's that skepticism then I also have a little bit of when they get to crunch time and somebody has to create their own shot in a tight game can do that. As of this moment. He's just a sensational player. But he doesn't have that reliable jump shot yet. So that would be another reason to doubt. But when you just looking at plane record when you were looking at point differential when you're looking at, you know, basically any way to measure, how quality a basketball team is Milwaukee is the real deal, and I'm joined now by the president of the Milwaukee Bucks. Peter Fagin Peter first of all congratulations on the season. Second of all how often do you say, man? I'm glad we. Drafted jaanus. I mean, I I don't think day goes by when we don't just smile we were a bunch of us weren't Dallas last night. Just watching five or six plays after we've seen him play thousands of minutes that would just kinda smile. We don't even have words anymore. Do you do sense that people doubt your team at all? In the sense. I was just sort of talking about it by any statistical measure an elite team you have a superstar you have shooting you have length defensively, but we haven't seen the bucks. Do it in the playoffs. You know, Janas hasn't exactly had those moments where he's creating his own shot at the end of games coach, but has been sensational. But does Atlanta teams didn't exactly do it in the playoffs. Do you? Do you think any doubt of your team is warranted? Well, first of all, you know, we we sit here, and it has been a while since since we went past the first round we are having a season. We have forty one wins before the all star break. We we have a little got a small city underdog spirit, where we were I tell you you certainly not getting the press or the appreciation that that you think you might with this team that is in the top five in every category that is winning by marching ten plus points, and by all other standards like he's just really is the best team in the NBA. So it's it's just incredible. But at the same time, listen like it all ends up in the playoffs. So we think this is great unbelievable season big. You're right. All of the equity is driven by how you do at the end of the season. You know, it's interesting because I can I can look at it two ways. I I could see you know, I referenced the Atlanta Hawks obviously because of the coach and those teams. Is being great in the regular season. Not so great in the playoffs. But you know, another team that comes to mind when when I'm thinking about Milwaukee is the two thousand eleven Dallas Mavericks where that was a team that maybe people it just like they had to keep proving it. But eventually you're like, oh that was a great team. And do you think there's any similarities there because it's not like you don't have other good players on the team. But there was Dirk on that team. And then a bunch of really good players, and you have Janas on this team in a bunch of really good players and shooting. Yeah. I think it's really similar. I think if you if you think about those those teams Miami at the time was probably a lot like a Golden State. You know, the team a, you know, the built this team Dallas had an awesome team. You know, they had chasing kid that year. They had Turkey. It was it was building. They kind of finally find finally got the credit deserve like in the NBA finals when when they won, you know, I think we've got these same type of story when you look at the team, you certainly look at Janas. But you know, he's got his star all star in Chris Middleton. He's got Eric Bledsoe. Who's also having you know all-star season. Then there's not much you can't say about you know, what Lopez has as mean to this has meant to this team not only on the offensive side with which threes. But I mean the way we're playing defense and how key is center. I think the similarities are the same. But less more about kind of just not at the top of the list when you when you watch highlights at the end of the night, you know, we we could win by twenty two bucks are going to be the second or third story. Instead of the first story. Brooke Lopez you bring up a he does deserve some some mentioned here because they to be honest. I thought he was a guy from a bygone era, and he's totally reinvented. His game talking to Peter Fagin, president of the Milwaukee Bucks here on CBS sports radio. Now, the Eastern Conference the rest of the east has made some moves LeBron said you guys saw that he wasn't there anymore and decided to go for what what did you make of the moves made by obviously your team made one in acquiring merits. But the moves made by say, Philadelphia and Toronto. And where Boston is right now. Yeah. I mean, I think you've got like you get really strong unbelievable teams that are all going to fight for the eastern in a in a pretty competitive way. I mean, silly is deeper than they've ever been. And they started before the Trent Lott trade deadline has a pretty deep team. So, you know, we sit there and really say like it's important to to to really end up, you know, in one two or three to to have a good some good momentum into the playoffs because it's gonna be a tough tough time to get out of the east. Is there any particular team or player that that? You're you're worried about or do you see all those teams on on equal footing? I think we I think, you know, coach bud kind of, you know, says this that we worrying about ourselves like in a big way. So we don't necessarily take it team by team. We think they're all strong. And, but you know for us if we're playing really well. You know, we should we should be able to take these you you feel that way unequivocally like you have the best team in the Eastern Conference. Now, if you feel that way, let me take it a step further because it's almost like people talk about the east has the second place prize. But that's not what you guys are playing for. There may be reason to believe Golden State is more vulnerable this year between a lack of depth trying to work cousins in Durant situation, just the myriad of factors. Attrition playing that deep every year. Do you see Golden State or whomever comes out of the west as as beatable for your squad? Listen, we think there's a conceptual saver. But the reality is I mean, we playing great, you know, winning basketball against the west coast. We think much like the east anybody that comes out of the west is is going to have a pretty tough playoff run with a pretty competitive sort of teams. So for us. I think to go into it, and you know, you can ask John horse and coach and all the players like you gotta get there. And we can beat anybody Robin lemberg talking to Peter frigging, president of the Milwaukee Bucks here on CBS sports radio. Now, the bucks name came up with Anthony Davis. And I don't know where these reports necessarily come from. Sometimes I'm a little skeptical of whose agents trying to feed information which organization is trying to feed information. Nevertheless, there was a list of teams that was put out there that Anthony Davis was looking at Milwaukee Bucks where we're on that list. What's your reaction to that? Reactions like we're pretty thrilled. With the way, we headed out of the trade deadline and happy with what we have. We'd love to be an attractive. And attracted team and attractive city and attractive organization for everybody. It's what Gillanders vision wise was to really build like a first class gold standard operation. And I think you know, when when players start to have interest in in specific teams and organizations that that's great. On our search for those for those teams team owner did say, I think it doesn't make a difference. If you're Milwaukee New Yorker LA the whole goal is winning. So we would hope it would be players like Anthony Davis and others who want to come to Milwaukee. And I've heard people bring up the tampering with that comment, which I think is ridiculous. Just like I thought it was ridiculous people brought it up with LeBron when he was asked the question, you know, what do you think about possibly in? Anthony Davis training said. Yeah. Of course, I like Anthony Davis on my team. Do you? Find the tampering rules to be silly. Well. I find the rules to be rule. So you'll not have any comment on that. Are mentioned players by. But I think, you know, listen, I I think we're all governed and things haven't really changed that much. It's just the media and was social it's gotten it's gotten so much to the top of top of mind, and it's kind been said over and over again, but you know, it'll continue to happen. Here's the interesting thing about the small markets and our owners kind of bought the team five years ago. It was it was it was look at look at the great case studies. I mean, Oklahoma City San Antonio. And these these markets have redefined, you know, what the success of a small market NBA day. Player. You can't mentioned by name and you did before. But let's circle back to Janas for a second. It seems like James harden has become the presumptive MVP. Again. Do you think that Jaanus is being slighted in that conversation at all? Oh, undoubtedly I mean, I think how Janas has to be the overwhelming favourite for seventy TI certainly get what what hardness doing is incredible kind of out of scoring list. But I think you know, at the end of the season, and when we see the results of the team, and what got us. Contribution to the team would be in in number in number of wins in where we are where we are eighty four years in in in the stats. Call them across the board and you're talking to the wrong guy. Yeah. Honest, as my MVP, you know, every day of the week. It's gotta be great to have not just as a great player, but a likable player. I thought he and LeBron is entertaining. When they they went back and forth on that all star draft. How do you think? He did there. I mean, he was gone. We're just excited to the world to keep seeing him. I mean, this is this is a guy who is just like that. I mean, he is he's one of the smartest funniest and fun. You know, kinda guys he's got you know, he is. He is one thousand percent about basketball. He if he's not basketball, he's with family and these about going back to playing basketball, and he keeps a pretty good mood about it. Which is which is fun for everybody. Peter. I really appreciate the time and good luck the rest of the season and congratulations on the season, regardless of what happens from here on. Now. It's been a great season for your team. We appreciate it. Thanks very much. Go bucks. Peter Fagin, president of the Milwaukee Bucks. Who I think people might not realize just how good a season they are having. I was saying before there's this level of skepticism. I guess not having seen them do it in the postseason before. But they have the best record in the NBA. Number one. They have the best point differential in the NBA number one. And it's not close, by the way. Like the warriors are beating teams by seven point seven points. A game. The bucks are beating teams by ten point three points per game..

Bitter cold a high of two degrees wind chills thirty below during the day tomorrow, Saturday, very cold eight Sunday, cold high of twelve Monday snow is likely a high of thirty degrees in Waukesha. It's thirty in Milwaukee. It's twenty two degrees. So Wilbur Ross is the commerce secretary in the Trump administration, and he was testifying today and was asked about furloughed workers. And he had this comment about how they can maybe cope with not being paid or being laid off first of all the banks and the credit union should be making credit available to them. When you think about it? These are basically government guaranteed loans because the government has committed. These folks will get their back pay once this whole thing. Good subtle, Dale. So there really is not a good excuse. Why there really should be able to quitted the crisis? Now true. The people might have to pay a little bit of interest. But the idea that paycheck or zero is not a really valid idea. There's no reason why some institution wouldn't be willing to let. Okay. So basically, what he said was, you know, we're not paying you were sorry about that. You can take out a loan. And yeah, you'll have to pay a little bit of interest, but take out a loan because you're not getting paid for the job that you're doing liberal Ross went on to say this to put it in perspective, you're talking about eight hundred thousand workers, and while I feel sorry for the individuals that have hardship cases eight hundred thousand workers if they never got their pay. Which is not the case, they will eventually get it. But if they never got it you're talking about a third of a percent on our GDP. So it's not like it's a gigantic number. All right. If you're one of those eight hundred thousand workers is it not a big deal Wilbur Ross the commerce secretary. But then again, I guess he wouldn't know because his net worth is two point nine billion dollars. He's on the prestigious Forbes four hundred list, he's probably the richest person in a very rich Donald Trump administration bad optics. "That's when we will continue our special thanksgiving holiday programming here on WTMJ hoping to catch up with bucks. President and Pfizer foreign president. Peter Fagin about a really neat event that they have happening in just a few hours at five serve forum, and we'll hope to catch up with Peter just a couple of seconds. If you missed the end of last hour, good news in New York. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade despite the very cold weather. This is the coldest parade. They're going to have the coldest weather for the parade that they're going to have in several decades. It's in the teens low twenty s or so. And that is just kicked off in the last couple of minutes. Also, the the winds have played nice. There was talk up until an hour or so ago that the balloons would not fly they will not be allowed to be released and be part of the parade. If the wind gusts were over thirty two miles an hour, so they've kind of subsided. So that is good news. And the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade is off and running still to come this hour coming up at eight twenty one we had a chance earlier this morning to talk with Phyllis Kramer, a Butterball Turkey talk line expert. "Net. As any insulation. Telling to get back to Gail Zappa and Peter Fagin Papa here courtside with Peter Fagin. The president of the Milwaukee Bucks. Peter for the further one or two people that you haven't already met in Milwaukee because you've been getting around, and I don't think by the way Peter ever sleeps. But walk us through your background. You've got some very interesting things in your in your both your personal and professional background. And by the way, I need to know that I really am talking to Peter because you have an identical twin and sometimes I'm talking to somebody who's not Peter. It is true. So I have an identical. Twin I grew up in New York City to great professional parents, a twin brother an older, brother. Went on to go to school, professionally gotta school worked for six flags theme parks, which at the time. I thought was the greatest most unbelievable thing in the world. And at wanted to be a part president and then from there. I ended up at Madison Square Garden hired by Ernie Grunfeld, right? When he was kind of off from the Milwaukee Bucks, and he really became my mentor and ran marketing for Madison Square Garden which included the next which is incredible. And then took a pivot with a bunch of entrepreneurs and really built up a company called marquee. Marquis jet was eventually bought by Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett was we sold it in two thousand eleven and I went on to help run netjets for a couple years as part of that transition. But those were those were great years. I mean, and and all with the constant theme of of really kind of. Terrific operations brand marketing and selling selling selling driving revenue. What was it like working for a Warren Buffett company? I think it's everything you read is true. I mean, he's he's one of these really special incredible people that is the smartest guy in the room. And simplifies everything he gives you the economy. And when he says, you know, remember what you do, you know that you don't want to be on the cover of the newspaper in the morning for something bad. He means it any makes it so simply couldn't be more supportive. We were lucky 'cause netjets out of the whole berkshire-hathaway portfolio. Just kind of one of his favourite since the sexiest coolest brand we had great events. And and he loved the product. That's terrific. Tell us what brought you to the Milwaukee Bucks. When the new ownership. Took over. How did you get introduced to Mark and west and the other owners of the bucks? How did that all come to pass? Well, it's what I tell everybody who interviews and everybody who's starting to network and to keep your relationships collect people, you never know back to my dental twin brother who's a headmaster of a school in New York that all of Mark Lazarie in west heathens kits went to about ten years ago. Mark Lazarus started to look to invest in teams and buying teams. And my brother suggested to him in passing my brother's, not too smart. But maybe you should take him. He could help you out in the value. Wait, these places and for decade, I'd moonlight for a couple of days and go into data rooms, and and really look at the possibility of Mark purchasing and lo and behold one day, he said, hey, go to Milwaukee and make a long story short. We ended up getting into an unbelievable conversation with Senator Kohl that really came to fruition and buying the team. And I took on a position consulting really building up the. Infrastructure and the organization and the operations, and then I pulled that little game that you do sometimes where you start interviewing people for CEO jobs that you don't really want to take the job because you want the CEO job and time started to pass, and it got to be about June or July and Mark and west we're getting anxious and the candidates I gave them or kind of just not right? And then maybe I suggested maybe not a bad job for me. So you interviewed yourself. I did a little bit. I give myself credit. Well, fast forward five years in tremendous accomplishments, obviously over the course of those five years Peter talk about your vision. Now for the next five years what what are your what would you like to personally accomplish? I mean, everybody says, and we all wanna see a championship here. But but what are your personal goals for the team, particularly over the course of the next few years. Yes, I think we're really this is face to. So. And then phase two is kind of evolving too. We've got a big opportunity to develop almost half the district. And what does that mean? It means the populate to create density and really create a neighborhood to spend sixty eight years, and and really create a full breathing living neighborhood where people are working, and we will have commercial building with hundreds of people working there on a daily basis. We will have hundreds of apartments. You know, we will have hotel sites, and this will be like one of the vibrant arteries of Milwaukee. So that's really kind of the next phase of getting at the same time on the business how to leverage the brand of the bucks as it continues to grow across IP across sponsorship opportunities across development opportunities to continue to grow the business in a very big way. And of course, as we win an NBA championship that just accelerates everything really quickly. One of the interesting things that you've mentioned to me is just how many hits your website gets the bucks website gets from Europe and Asia right incredibly it's almost fifty percent. So, you know at times more than half are half, our media and our precious go. I mean, we just spent which is spent a couple of weeks figuring out localization how to how to in language, you know, figure out the Mandarin Cantonese, you know, how to really figure out the deviation of the Philippines, which is vibrant unbelievable market for NBA basketball because they're all media markets for us. We control our own digital footprint. So and people by the tens of millions download Ghana's dunks. It's amazing just well worth downloading. But very interesting that there's so much interest in the NBA not just in the US, but in Europe, and in Asia, and in fact, one of the things that perhaps our listeners might be interested in is. The chairman of Foxconn is a huge NBA fan. And one of the things that we were able to do when the governor. And I visited Asia the talk with the chairman of Foxconn about locating in Wisconsin, Peter was kind enough to give us a special Milwaukee Bucks jersey with the number one on the back and chairman go German goes name, and he wore it proudly to the airport to take us back. He wore at the entire day. I mean, it was it was great, and he met Janas, and it was. Big now, there is no secret to the differential the difference between the NBA and the NFL and major league baseball is it's a global brand. And it's got participation on global footprint to grow sport. And its audience is chess multiplying throughout the world. Which is in Asia in Africa Europe. They're all they're all growing and audience size. Which is which is all great for our product. It. Sure is well, Peter I've got one last question for you know, I've been talking to some of your loyal staff, and I use the word loyal kind of kind of an oxymoron. However, you want to say in one of the questions they wanted me to ask you was if you had a chance to have dinner with a character from the Simpsons. Who would that be? And why it'd be no question. I I get it with Homer. And I'd ask parental advice. Not even a simple into simple. It's, but it's very funny because I referenced the Simpsons because the Simpsons could be about thirty years old now and I used to used to aspire to one right? I thought you really make it if you could write for the Simpsons, and now I give references and everybody I work with so young. They don't even know what I'm talking about. So kind of like everything else they kind of look at me and nod. Well, I'm old enough to know who the Simpsons are. So if you get get dinner with Homer invite me if you will no question. You've been listening to courtside with Milwaukee Bucks. Peter Fagin, our special guest tonight. Peter, thanks so much for being with us. A bunch of times loved the place. Can't wait to see a bucks game. They're hints Peter Fagin. Just kidding. We're talking about either as versus Walker. What that race looks like what are the issues? I kinda run through the issues that we're talking about an debates. It's an interesting race for a lot of reasons because it shows at least if you believe the latest MU law school poll that it's neck and neck. I think walkers was forty seven forty six. Let's go to Jim on the northwest side. You're on WTMJ. Good morning. Jim morning. What do you think? I quit. My question is if we have a surplus, and I applaud the governor forgetting a surplus. Why aren't we using that money towards the road? Good question. I think we should at least some of it. There's a reason why you have a rainy day fund. You should never exhaust a completely because Dr things that can happen. You have you have a budget shortfall you need to plug it the plug that hole. But if you have surpluses one of the things you can do with those somebody used to run a much smaller budget is is fixed the things that need fixing. And that's one of the biggest liabilities for governor. Scott Walker is the roads. Clearly, and I don't I don't know why we wouldn't use some of that surplus the fund some of those projects makes the call from Jim. Let's go to rich in Waterloo. You're on WTMJ morning, rich. Good morning. How are you? Good. What do you think? Well, I'm just wanted to call in comment about the the comment about that. Referendum. In the Tony birds, actually leave the reason there's been so many school referendums just to cover basic operating caused because of the massive cuts that have been made an education by Walker during the time at the legislator fist both came out. With report that indicated that from two thousand eleven to two thousand nineteen actual spending on schools public schools in the state of Wisconsin has gone down by by six percents. That includes the amount that Walker claims to be a record and Beth how can you make a record and that's been at school. And also have that spending. Go down by six percent, Richard. Gotta let let you go because I got to go to commercial thanks for bringing out quickly. I'll address that one of the things that I think the Democrats could push it push back on the governor. And the voters is a say that that some of that is Israel. There has been an impact on schools, and that's why you're seeing referendums. But I would also argue that. These referendums 'cause I've looked at almost all of them the one point four I related to facilities. They have nothing to do with the impacts of any cuts to the state education budget about building new schools, fixing older schools and what what's happened over the years. Money was directed into other areas of of the budget and the neglected their facilities that happens over and over again it shows shortsightedness by school boards school districts. That's what's driving some of the referendums, but thanks for the call rich. Appreciate that call. We're going to we're going to change topics. Afternoons.

Six in the walkie at seventy three degrees All right. Let's do this we got the main man bucks president Peter Fagan is. With us this afternoon Hello, Peter how, are you man fantastic I see, you, got a, big old, key today it's official you. Have the arena you even dressed in a. Very nice suit drives wearing a tie and. The Friday don't think the key actually fits any door That is a big key Have you ever gotten the key to a building or a? House like that before now I think anybody new right mind would never give me a key to anything It's? All retinal scan anyway that's all they're doing these days Peter you'll be fine Yeah Hey, Peter congratulations on. That that's a big deal Pfizer. Forum we're all super excited about. That and part of what's going to happen down there as you guys have decided to make the entire arena district smoke free and you're getting a lot of high marks for. This? Why why that? Decision Well. I, think it's just a natural evolution we followed the. Lead of some great folks who have developed you know big public social areas I think for us dab really a healthy community. Is is directionally where we wanna be kind of open and free for everyone shows as we? Built, the citric yeah whatever anchor tenant happens to be freighter Nevada center we, obviously. Want to check all ages and we really, want like kind of, that healthy baseline, like in and, around the environment how many other arenas around the country have. Done the same thing that you guys, have done well I think Sacramento set a good direction like in. And, around, their district Brooklyn. I can't tell you if it's. Like Brooklyn's like just an arena. The Barclay center but they too like surrounded the building kind of with the no smoking zone and we just thought as a neighborhood it made sense to solve it to the. Borders? Of the neighborhood President Peter Fagan is with us on. WTMJ was this a tough decision Peter or relatively easy decision a, very easy decision I think like as. We start to evaluate kind of a lead certification where we, are sustainability, where we are kind. Of messaging to the community, and kind of health we just thought it was kind of in lockstep with the world is going you know Peter we've been hearing. So, much about the concerts and all the great events. Coming we were all wondering one the bucks what actually play a game and we've learned that to the bulls have become into. Town to crank open the preseason no fun unless you have a both preseason game it'll be? Rocking, it's a good audition for opening night which we should have the schedule, relatively. Soon what we're excited about the NBA kinda, hold us all off, you know till, the middle of, August to to get a schedule but I can tell you. I I rarely get excited for scheduled, release I've never been more anxious ever to see game one and And the entire season in this new arena so October, third the bolts come for, a, preseason game Peter did you petition the. NBA to open the season in the new arena at home I think we've, petitioned the NBA, from everything from an all star game to all eighty eighty, two games. At home yeah anything, you can imagine I think I think much like everybody else, in, my life like the. The the least the less I do the. Better in in asking you, know so we we went we went hard line in in telling me to be quiet Adam. Silver and the league we actually get. Like an advantageous schedule Peter I follow. You on Twitter and we've been. Talking a lot about athletes and famous people on Twitter because of recent events I want more Peter Fagin. On Twitter, you, re tweet a lot original thoughts we need. More Peter Fagin tweets it will not get it and you are so rare and Here, the outlier like the rest of the world does not need more Peter Fagan and you're like. Me Peter Peter Fagan owners say anybody. With a semblance of sanity says is. Way over exposed so I think. It less is more yeah I'm not I'm not buying that Peter with. Respect to the Pfizer people is it okay that in closed circles, I refer to the. Arena as the four one forum is. That, okay is. Not okay thank you All right cross that off the. List Peter Fagin. Bucks. President what a great. Week for, you. Guys. Peter thank you so much for being with, us, safe Peter really good we can't appreciate the. Support John gang we really it fantastic thank you so much all right Peter okay news about your money on this Tuesday.
