"Everyone and welcome slash daily for Monday to Lie Twenty Ninth Two Thousand Nineteen on today's episode. We're GONNA talk about Disney's the Lion King Ben went to the set of this film or in a here all about it and we're GonNa hear an interview with with Director Jon Favreau this slash editor in chief Peter cerita giant by Casas slash home senior writer than Pearson. Hey what's going on not much. It's a Monday again and today we're talking about. The Lanqing set Ed visit which is unusual because usually talk about the visits leading up to the films released but we're talking about this after the film has hit theaters. Why is that yes so basically what happened was Disney decided that the stuff that we learned on asset visit I think and this sort of like may speculating? I didn't get an official answer on this but I think it's the stuff that we learn on the set. visit is <hes> a lot of technical aspects of like actually how John and his team made this movie and it seems to me as if Disney wanted to people to just experience the movie as a thing you know on its own without necessarily being impacted or clouded in any way by thinking about how it was made which like I can understand because this movie is so technically advanced. It totally makes sense if that was actually their mentality here yeah you don't WanNa be watching this movie thinking about how these lions are working so so when you visit visited the set of the Lion King they flew out to Africa..

"Hello, everyone and welcome to slash daily for timber. Fourteen two thousand eighteen on today's episode. We're gonna talk about the latest film and TV news in in the spoiler room later will be discussing the problems and the ending of the predator and how it changed from its original script. This slash home editor in chief Peter cerita in that his podcast is slash foam, senior writer, Ben Pearson, hey, what's going on and writer Chris Evangelista alot. Okay. Guys, we only got a little bit of news today before we get into the spoiler goodness. Let's start things off with a story that broke while we were on the podcast yesterday. And if you heard the did the tail end of the podcast, you heard my reaction as I learned that Aaron, Paul star breaking bad has been casting Westworld season three. Then what do we know? That's kind of all we know. We know that Aaron, Aaron, Paul is going to be a series regular in seat season. Three of Westworld. We don't know if he's going to be. Involved in more scenes beyond that, if it's sort of one and done thing just for season three, we don't even know what kind of character he's going to be playing if he's going to be a human or an Android, a host character. Yeah, as you might expect, Westworld is keeping things pretty close to the vest there. That's a show that is obviously built very much on mysteries and things like that. So I'm not remotely surprised that they didn't just come out and say, what kind of character earn Paul is going to be. And I also wouldn't even be surprised if he is presented one way in the beginning of the show. And then you know, there's some sort of big reveal about his character, the nature of his character as the series progresses. So I dunno, I, it's, it's a very threadbare announcement, but I'm personally, I'm really mad at this because I pretty much swore off the show after season two, which I was not a fan of end. I've really like Aaron Paul as an actor. So his presence might be enough to bring me back and forced me to hate, watch all of..

"So or choices for the wasp, I put it a number seven Germain put a number nine Gs heat or put it number six. That was probably the closest I was the closest Christie at number seven. Davinder at number nine. At number seven, I will say, I think Dennis point this out like this was the one that really killed me like I actually was considering bumping this up a couple notches, and I just wish I listen to that voice in my head because yeah, this one for me if I had moved this to the right spot, it would have been the winning choice for me. No. Oh, well. Somebody regrets. So yeah, man and the wasp, two hundred and thirteen million dollars and coming in at number five in his movie. I think we all will enjoy it. And I think we all belong. Deserves to be in that slot this summer. So now the biggest surprise of the summer number six solo Star Wars story, which clocked in two hundred thirteen point. Seven million dollars a couple hundred thousand under men of the west. Two hundred. Thirteen point. Nine million dollars. This was probably this. I hate to to my own horn guys, but this was probably my most spirituous put solo at number five, and I actually had dead hit it before the last weekend of the summer. But I think everyone thought this movie would do better. Right? We all we all definitely attacked you for putting it that low even over us. Yes, I was like, I think even I over us made it and I was like, this could be my downfall. I was the most afraid of putting solo Star Wars story. And I remember I listened to that episode Peter cerita oh, how young and foolish we, where Peterson of saying, if this movie does three hundred million dollars, these going to be really disappointed in it. That's what you said during that. I, I will say this, Dave, this, this goes to show you what cynics we are because I feel like every single one of us had heard from people they didn't. They weren't interested in Hansel movie. There was bad buzz because Lord Miller were not on the foam. None of us actually were personally, I think excited to see this movie, but we were like, oh, it's Star Wars. It's going to do a lot of money like, and that was the thing. It was like it just felt hard to decipher, honestly, Star Wars fans anymore are hard to decipher because it's not like they're monolith than any sense. And then on top of that, it's like, yeah, it's young, Hans movie in theory, that should be exciting, but starring guy, most people don't know how to pronounce his name, much less how to spell it or what it is. And like then, you know the Lord Miller thing, which I think that's more of a film like nerd thing. I don't think that the mainstream, like people who love Star Wars movies necessarily paying attention to that if that does kind of affect the overall thrust of the movie. Right. Like a. That right? Like the trailers and everything we were seeing. It was just kind of this kind of dull like there was just nothing super exciting. Aside from Donald Gwen will lose basically nothing about the plot in the in the trailer like you, all you knew like putting together a crew and like, you know, like. Coasting totally on the South Asia part of it might have been that they. That they didn't know what the, you know, the movie was being assembled really rapidly over the course of ear. Maybe they didn't know what the final arc of the film would be. I do..

"So it was a mistake like first of all, don't bet against Pixar yell, something should've learned from last year, and I just thought drastic world had the 'cause that first movie just meet way too much God damn money money for the value of that movie. It is funny looking at this list that we do every year. We come out to the same realizations. The same mistakes every year. I don't understand why. Why do we learn like Disney. Here's a, here's what I would say. Actually, I would say first of all, number three, right? Is drastic world full on kingdom. And I think. None of us had it number three. We all put it under number two, my guess is with the exception of Peter cerita all of us hated dress world one is that is that correct? Right. Dress terrible every so. Yeah. It's a terrible, terrible that disgraces the entire franchise. And and so I think all of us probably just assumed that because dress world one made so much GD money that we just are like. So disconnected from the desires of the American people. The we're going to just take a flyer on, it know, roll the dice and put it in number two, because, hey, we didn't get the first one. We're probably not going to get the second one and it's probably still going to make a bundle of cash that is that when I reviewed drastic world, I got a ton of blowback from people who either hadn't seen it or and said, it's not as bad as you say. So like it felt like, you know? Yeah. I mean, I, I don't like to touch because like I don't review for everybody. I write my reviews from a very personal space. You agree or you don't have, but like there was like a huge amount of the fan that was like, it was fine. Like, why does it have these drastic park? And my thing is because if you're gonna resurrect drastic park, you better damn well, aim for Jurassic Park? Not this. I can't even get into Colin Trevorrow. Right. Don't have the energy, but like this one, I think, yeah, I expected it to gain busters because the last one did and it just seems like there's no stopping this franchise. I think it could've done gangbusters. I think this movie was such a Downer of a like, it just wasn't a good movie strange yet. I don't think it had like the momentum of the buzz and the legs that the first one, it's it's funny because it is a better as far as bad movies go, it's it's a better bad movie than the first one. I would agree on this one enjoyable. Like I argued for this movie and it set pieces in our review while not liking it overall, but it's just like it is funny like, oh, this one is giving you something audience isn't..
