"Hi welcome to it's a dog eat dog world I'm your host Louis polite and with me today as always are my good friends Peter Berg and Kate event today we're gonna talk about not such a wonderful subject but one that every dog owner faces at some point in time and that's canine cancers one of the reasons we decided to talk about at this time as we have a new sponsor the chill here from a little bit later called pets our kids to and they have a line of natural pet products one of the things that this company does that we're real enthused about is they donate a portion of their proceeds to help doc survive cancer and their goal is to help one hundred pet survive cancer in twenty nineteen so before twenty twenty twenty twenty hello my gosh so we're real enthused about this new sponsor and like I say you'll hear you'll hear a little bit more about them throughout the podcast but since they do have an emphasis on helping Doug survive cancer we thought we talk a little bit about that in this podcast we've all had run ins with it I know I've lost two ducks to cancer in the last five years my last two Australian shepherds we sure had cancer had my interests are comma in the abdomen and Cisco had a brain tumor that was absolutely absolutely horrible pager you've lost three three Amanda circle three yeah hard to us is but a Pomeranian two weeks ago Pomeranian yeah and then Kate the last three to bone cancer yeah we're also returned to twelve poodles interestingly enough I knew the rubble I didn't realize the two poodles there's that hereditary component yeah I'm into the whole thing that yeah yeah the girl first and then later on the boy and then the last year my youngest hero had melanoma in the eyes and that was quite tragic so cancers just just horrible in DOCSIS it is some people well Mike we were talking about before we started the spike in it is I mean it's not everybody has cancer person every dog yes is there it was just whether or not it's affecting you when my father was diagnosed with cancer in talking with the oncologist my dad went immediately to hospice care his was untreatable eighty five I mean and we don't say that you know you don't treat just because eighty five but his had unfortunately spread so terribly that he went right to hospice care but the oncologist explained to us that were always fighting cancer cells that when you have a healthy immune system and everything's working the way it's supposed to your body kills the stray cancer cells but it's when something else happens whether there's a threat to your immune system or you have another health challenge or something else that sets the equilibrium then the cancer takes over and I'm sure that's a very simplified explanation but that's the way he worded to us and the same would be with our dogs yeah well it's disturbing xcelerated raise their lifespans are exonerated right right which is horrible in its own right yeah they never live long so let's talk about some of the things that they talk about is why dogs can get cancer or the cancer can take off or any of the other versions well it's probably no surprise just like in people of the more awful stuff this is the environment so dogs who live on commercial farms exposed throughout their lives to herbicides and other pesticides they're more prone to cancers especially nasal cancer road the notes is down to the ground of their second everything up for the fact that we even know what the word personagens means you know that yes we have different kinds with I don't know if they didn't say why but oral melanoma ray is more common with dogs with dark pigmentation in their mouths interesting dark pigmentation in the mail means they're more likely to get or I'll have more melanin okay that's interesting because melon and plays a part in malignant melanomas of the LA so those type of cells are more susceptible to changing the cancer cells yeah that's well the formation of melanin is a complex process with genetic hormonal and UV affected by UV rays so if that comes to play in the hi I would guess some of the similar would also play in the dark pigment in the mouse not the UV rays so much but the other the hormone still dark is absorbed more hi bills we're just really guessing here but yet so we're thinking out loud yeah large and giant breeds are at a much higher risk of bone cancer like my rottweiler yeah so the the toy poodles were anomaly right but I think a strong the problem yes as they were litter mates Cocker spaniels are prone to an otherwise rare type of air cancer here skin cancer more prevalent in short haired fair skinned breeds like boxers I'm thinking of my Jack Russell because he's white so he's got a lot of white skin and it's not very thick and he's got a nose a portion of his nose is pick right did by dogs on screen for him safe if you look at often it doesn't get I don't put it on him every day but if you go to the beach or something or to the desert yeah sure I'll put a little of the line to speak spots much to his dismay so there there is often a genetic component or read a Terry component and even within lines of certain breeds you know some of the other day was telling me about a a problem their dog was having a civil did you tell the breeder well I didn't want to bother her no no no no that's not a bother you need to tell her yes and responsible breeders want to know when hero was diagnosed with the melanoma in is high and I'll talk about that more in a little bit first thing I did was contact the breeder and I told her I says I'm not blaming you but because this is not supposed to be inherited but I said I want you to know and she said oh of course and actually she offered to help pay for his surgery so good breeders responsible breeders one the staff even if it's not good news well then the breeder that unite use years ago for an Aussie yes St the female when she realized two litters or had health problems.

You have the Commissioner for you about set off in a nice, quiet moment. I mean, do you think well something that people thrown out there something called a sky judge whether up in another member of the of the grand poobah this guy? The problem is is that you need to see a flag thrown thing. That drives me crazy. There's a play that happens. You think team's got a first down? And you think teams gotten off the field? And then all of a sudden there's somebody calling a penalty that you didn't even see the flag thrown hold on a second. If you I'm. Always putting myself in the fans seats how they're watching it, and whether it's acceptable or not for them to think that somebody who's not on the field is thrown a flag like, and it just drives people crazy. No, no, no. But wouldn't Mike Tomlin know who any Tonio Brown was what you're getting at you say you like he's got to be a coach that knows what you're getting with him. Mike Tomlin won a Super Bowl. I mean, Mike Tomlin. It didn't just fall off the turnip truck. Right. I mean, you know, as you referred to him as coach T. So if he can't figure it out how could somebody else, you know, what do better I would say I would say I would say it was one of those things that you feel like if you give people indepao. Attendance. If you allow guys to be their own personality, if you allow guys to adults who are good player who players who are who are very who are very into their craft. You feel like they give you the love back. I've let you be free. I've let you I let you grow into who you are. So you feel like they'll have some accountability to you. You feel like they were look out for you in some way. And that's not what happened with Tony. Tony who has gone to a point where it's more about him then than it is team. And I think that was something for me. I always thought right. Like that was a part of him always solve when you drop it guy in the six round. We know the hardships he's dealt with throughout life. You know, the way that the ways that he had had to take care of himself. You think that those things will show in loyalty and just an Tonio Brown? Didn't it was a miscalculation by coach T, and I think even more. So it was a miss. Direction. Once those things started to go sideways, which now has us at this point. Whether it's coach Tomlin making the correct decisions and the correct corrections. When it comes said Tonio Brown, some of his antiques big been and some of the things that he's not, you know, you go to Kevin Colbert in you know, art Rooney. Julia in how they handle the Levy are Bill contract situation. I think everybody has a hand in what's happened with this team. You know, what also think rich? I think we're in the. Ever to where the New England Patriots has confused us, right? They have made us think that consistent excellence is easy to attain, and it's not we watch them. Go nine of eighteen years. And we forget that until they won six Super Bowl. The Pittsburgh Steelers who have been in business for over eighty years where the team that had the most bowls and they only had six it's hard to win. It's hard to get to a Super Bowl. And so I think we we are very hard on the Pittsburgh Steelers because of the history of excellence with the organization as represented and because they play with the New England Patriots who have made us think that you're supposed to get there. When you have talent some of the discord we've seen there has not allowed this team reaches full potential. But I think everybody played a part in that. And you can't just blame it on those three guys coach Tomlin been around, Pittsburgh and Tony Brown as we've mentioned last one for you. Ryan Clark, knowing what you know, and knowing you know, you and also knowing. Ng colleagues of mine at the NFL network who've played there are things that you can't say on the air that you know. So knowing what you know on everything teammate and played all of that business. Would you acquire Antonio Brown right now? Would you take him on your team them? What's that? And the rice with with with the right? Hey, coach with somebody who understands fully what you're getting right that the conversation, Mr. Rooney and Tonio Brown had is a conversation that needs to be had before you ever, quiet. When you're speaking about your quarterback. What are your plans on All Saints? How coach him how will he be treated? And I think the hard part about that is what team wants to go through all that that thinks in Tonio Brown is worth. And I believe that that's going to be difficult. You look at a team like the San Francisco forty Niners who I know have been rumored to be one of the teams that Tonio row would like to play with Ken. Coach shannahan keep him under wraps is Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback enough for him to feel like he has an opportunity to excel in a game..

"That's cool people hurt themselves doing this all the time because water still surfaced engine. So it sticks together. So the hitting themselves with a glob of hot water, even though it's really cold outside. Yeah, that's cool. You can generate instant snow. But it's not as cool as some other things. My favorites are that soap bubbles can freeze in this kind of weather. So you can generate soap bubbles outside that will literally form into a structures that you can hold within your hand. If your extra cool, and our vapor, you can actually put some vape smoke inside of the bubble, and then have it frees over and you'll be holding sort of like an opaque ball of smoke that is frozen on the outside. It's super delicate. It's really beautiful because you get the crystalline structures that form a go you one better. So there is a liquid that is in my house that freezes it about minus thirty minutes like minus twenty minus twenty five two minus thirty depending on the purity of it celsius. Celsius. It is vodka. That's typically about eighty proof now vodka if you put it in your freezer won't freeze. It doesn't get cold enough. But is literally cold enough in places many of the places in North America where you can freeze vodka now freezing is really different than you. Don't get like an ice cube type lattice structure out can freeze vodka. It'll typically form a slush. I highly recommend if you get a silicone. Ice cube, mold. Yes. Those are resilient to about like, minus fifty degrees. So you can load it up with some vodka. Let it freeze and you'll get sort of this vodka almost slush when you comes out. That's like kind of like the. The texture of it because it can't form into a cube laddis, and then you can add it to your drink, and but it's super coal. So add it to like a slightly chilled like Tana tonic, and you can have a vodka tonic. Like you've never had before shaped like the my falcon if you have that. Won't pop out that way, but vodka freezing. Typically, it's only done with liquid nitrogen, but you get different kind of crystal formation with that because of how quickly if freezes the vodka. Okay, that's my recommendation, use this coal to experiment yourselves. All right. He's got two more stories. I got. Yeah. I got two more quick stories opportunity on Mars Las forever. Why they're hoping it lost power. It's headed it's solar panels covered up. Our only hope is Matt Damon because they're hoping to get wind actually shift some of the dust off the panels, and it we'd kick back to life and a big storm came by. And that did not happen. So so we cannot use the wind to restore opportunity. It's passed it's projected end of life. Anyway. Right. Oh, yeah. Way pass. So we need to send Matt Damon there, and he'll dust it off and come back to life. He needs. He needs the battery pack. Oh need so many things frame just to be kept company in his in his have on by the thing. Roving crisco. No, forget that this go. I have a business opportunity for all of you specifics space. If it's tell me space of it's it is we are gonna talk about space coffee. So a company startup has put. Out the idea that they're going to send coffee beans into low earth orbit and then using reentry use that heat from reentry to roast the beans. They're going to launch a capsule. I think it's about fifty kilograms. How big is this capsule seventy five kilograms of coffee in a capsule. How do they get temperature you over roast it? So how do you manage the temperature? It's got a tumble if you're going to get that even nice coffee, roasting. And so Dave mocked up a model that actually has a way like enough insulation that the roasting will occur naturally. It's supposed to tumble. Some folks have done calculations on this based off the weight Metrix. That's a good use of time. Yeah. It will cost about twenty thousand dollars per gala Graham to row beans, which means between two and five hundred dollars for the promise of this coffee. You got to send the beans up in the first place grown in space. Elon Musk has already done this. No, do you. Remember that guy? Peter Berg that Adams mentioned he he runs a group called rocket lab. That's based out of New Zealand that's doing low cost rocket launches..

The amount of profanity is startling because what happens is when once you start noticing that. There's too much going on thing. That's like pre written. Yeah. You're just like, wow. When all the Bobby at the end of the day, the sabotage buddies hung out there with the bad dirty. Struck loves broderie. Yeah. That was the one thing sabotage had fucking hair on it's ass. That movie starts with them doing a mission. That has pulled off successfully this movie starts with the team fucking it up. So we don't have the thing. We're like we're all going back to Arnold were smoking cigars hot neck has taken a shirt off. But also doesn't have like this superhero origin of like on oldest just the best ever was none of that shit wherever this it's like mission failure, Mark Wahlberg is the smartest man alive. Did you know that all right back to the movie and Mike unlike Arnold? He does not fuck. He will not fuck. I will say fuck, but I will not fuck does this is he an end sell. We would snap that fucking rubber band. So that you could jerk off dude, relax. It is right. Don't they have rubber don't they have bracelets and stuff? So I'm assuming I don't know. I assume if they do it's camouflage colored walking down, no fat boulevard. Busy boulevard of broken fast. While this lonely road. A don't jerk off alone. I jerked to no something something else. Now. Yeah. I can see that getting piece together. Yeah. Songs up. More comes together in the studio. My suits will be yours. You damn trial up. Yeah. Yeah. That's it of. So he goes to bother Lauren Cohan because Lauren Cohan was running this guy who gave them the Ben Intel or right ever had. He starts cursing up a storm at her. And she's like, yeah. Why don't you and she's just going right back here? Fuck you to give you and then she got something else going on where her grandfather owned. Her ex husband. Is played by Peter Berg who she married. Yeah. Grandfather should marry her grandma grand shag. Dudes a lot of it quite significant. Don't yet. I also think he only see beta that comes in on these little phone calls that come to Lauren Cohn. I think this is how he directed. The movie. Full spill bird loss. World did live via satellite bay. We got FaceTime. Now, man. I don't gotta be there. Well, that's true. Hey lurid. When I was your age, I was in the the TV show, Chicago hope was like ER, but it failed. Hey, Chicago did Ville that ran for several years. But it was always like what what else is on. Well, that's true. Well, because at the time when that show is on you weren't sixty eight years old. That's that's that's a really good fats who were making Chicago hope for and that's why they all got fended when that was the first show to us shit on the August. Yeah. Really stepped in. That's right. So she's got some weird device. It's not a phone..

"Look it looks like it's about to fall off into a bowl of soup. That's how you know. Mark Wahlberg hasn't gone, full bales. Because bail would have gained. Would have drank himself to death. One day. I hope it doesn't like Chris Ville what day that's not going to go, by the way. If anyone asks I'm playing Dick Cheney. Sure, that's why. Okay. Bill set and something that like for this one for vice he had to like have somebody by side to make sure I am playing to be doing a stage play at the end of this year. The life and times is the life. You've apparently been preparing your whole life to play. Absolutely. And we're working on short in your legs mean him have been doing it. So yeah, go ahead. We sorta start on like this operate on this operator with their it's long. Learn Cohen the one dad's learn Cohen the boys. Lauren Cohan anyone else? See that movie. Now is the boy now all where it's a little doll. Yeah. I saw that stupid little doll that terrorizes her now. Well, Willard everybody's the way around. It's will the brave you from the preview it's she gets a job as a nanny in. They're like, here's our son. And it's a doll. Yeah. And she treat this doll like a person. It's like invisible trade is kind of like an invisible child with a dollar instead. And then like a scary twist at the end this hilarious. It's not good. It's boring and like stupid the last ten minutes make it fun because it's so dumb. And like when you're what the thing is happening. It's like, oh, man. Agreed. But boy, I was watching it by myself. And I was there was no one determined to. So I was just watching the boy alone. So it's her and this other guy are like pretended. They're lost. I guess tourist or just the couple and they're going to and it's just it's the dumbest thing they're having this like rats hat conversation about being lost like, well, it was like one nineteen Christmas place. Right. It might have been Christmas avenue and. How she's? Did you so many Christmases in this in this city? No, there's not. Out there at the north well to be fair. They're they're in reality. A team of a Sassan. Sure. So maybe they're just really bad at this. Like, improv part of it. But there's a Christmas street that exists. Yeah. I I did. did think that might be at the North Pole. I definitely think. So I think it was supposed to be a hit on Santa Claus. There's a ticket sweatshop down there. Exactly turned it turns out that Santa. He's a Russian warrior what he is all my elves after make their toys with their clothes off. I don't want. Anyone stealing from me? In your underwear? Don't worry. I'm taking pictures of all of us. I cut off this boys. I n because he stole some cotton for me. Oh, you've been very noughties little slave labor. You'll get the boy on DVD. Was that twenty eighteen release? Sixteen seventeen. It's it was one of those like out cool shoes from walking down. Now. She's in a movie thought this was going to be big co-starring with Mark Walter. This is going to be a real movie. But unfortunately, you hit that Peter Berg waves coming off of fuck patriots day Deepwater Horizon. These are like the fuck it the Stockton Malone of besides stick worship man or that. I don't wanna watch. I don't I've never seen patriots day. I know it's basically, I apologize. True store Deepwater Horizon. And it's a true story. This one is a true story. It's all Agra shit that have no time for him to this might not be the right word Agra shag. It's totally eg. But that's I don't get man. What is their working relationship? Like because this is what the twelve thousand movie they've done. Best buds. I think the best butts. I don't eat just gets me, bro. Pita beg. Just fucking gets me. Barker a blank canvas just you know, it's amazing. Like, you could just see that. You're not taking it every scene. Thanks, bro. Oh my God. That means so much coming from the director of battleship.
