Vatican: Pope to leave hospital on Saturday, eats pizza

"The Vatican's announced Pope Francis would be discharged from a Rome hospital on Saturday, and his recovery is normal. Visitors to Vatican City express hope the Pope Francis will be well enough to attend the traditional Easter celebrations. Father David from Mexico says he wishes the holy father a speedy recovery in these holy days when the church prepares to celebrate the highest ministries of Christianity. David hopes the pontiff is blessed by his light, and which is him a speedy recovery of health. The Vatican had earlier said the Pope spent his second night in a Rome hospital serenely. He's receiving antibiotics to treat bronchitis. The Vatican's announced Francis will be at Saint Peter's square for palm Sunday mass, to mark the start of holy week, which culminates on Easter, April 9. I'm Charles De Ledesma

"Joining us now is Lee wham's gones. I hope I said that right. Lee, welcome to the program. Very close. As my husband's fault, mom's gone. Thanks, Charlie. Good to be here. You're the executive director of patriot mobile action. Tell us about the great work you're doing on the ground. So Peter mobile action was formed by four executives actually who are at patriot mobile. We did this last year and it was our first launch year in 2022. And we took on four independent school districts in tarrant county, Texas. As you know, Taylor county is the largest red county left in the nation and in the bullseye of the turn Texas blue. So we took on four school districts. It was 11 seats. We won all 11. They weren't slam ducks. One of them went into a runoff. We had to work very hard, but ultimately what that means is over a 100,000 north Texas students who before May 2022 had liberal leadership on their school boards. After May 2022, had conservative majorities on their school boards.

A Prayer to Persevere in Affliction

"God not only refuses to leave us in our suffering. He also goes before us. The lord himself goes before you and will be with you. Deuteronomy 31 8. By staying safe behind Jesus Christ, our guiding light. We allow him to lead us through the affliction. He will whisper a quiet, calming peace on even the most difficult days. In this way, he teaches us to persevere. To draw strength from him. So as we stand behind our lord and persevere through the trials we face, let's rejoice in our new understanding of godly patients in affliction. We can do this with Jesus leading the way. Let's band together today and commit to persevere and bear up bravely in affliction. Let's pray. Dear heavenly father. Thank you for your guiding presence. I know you are here in the midst of my suffering. It's hard for me to be patient and endure the trials I face. But you are a faithful God, and I trust you completely in the good times, and in the struggles of life. Your word says in Romans 5 three. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance. I don't always feel like giving praise when I'm sick or afflicted. Sometimes I try to understand why suffering exists on earth. But your truth reminds me that through the hardest seasons of my life, you are helping me grow in the grace and knowledge of our lord and savior Jesus Christ. Second Peter three 18. In difficult times, I learned to persevere. Thank you, lord. When I get impatient, wary are discouraged. Help me remember you go before me. You are leading the way, encouraging me with every difficult step forward. You also stand right beside me, offering peace and comfort. My affliction will not last forever. As long as I keep my eyes on you, I have hope for tomorrow. My others be drawn to your perfect love when they see me following your weights. May they see patients and perseverance in me that draws them to you. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

Mini-Grids 101 With Erick Hersman, Co-Founder of Gridless

"To start out, Eric, I just want to talk about the mini grid economics. That was something that you and Peter talked about a decent amount, but I want a little bit more information out of you if I can. So I'm thinking about the cost to get these mini grids online, finding the location for them and keeping it running. My understanding is that you partner with people who have already built these things and you guys aren't necessarily building them yourselves, but just from working with those partners, what are the aspects you're looking at in order to get a mini grid site online? Yeah, thanks. So it's been really interesting. We've been having our crash course in energy training this last year and a half or so. And it's been interesting. It's been fun. And it's also been one of those educational experiences. So when we're dealing with mini grids, we're kind of on the edge of rural Africa that has the beginnings of electrification and not a great amount of usage yet. So if you think about it, there's 1.1 billion people around the world who don't have electricity. 600 million of them are in Africa. So over half. And that means that this continent has the most area still to be electrified, which is a massive opportunity, and Bitcoin mining is actually going to pay for that. Bitcoin mining pays for electricity to be pushed further out because the normal consumers and those locations don't actually have the usage and demand yet to use it all. And the economies of scale for a mini grid provider can be really, really, I guess, upsetting, if you're an investor, there's a tyranny of a small size problem, right? Which is, you know, you can have a mini grid and let's say a mini grid hydro is going in. He's going to put in 200 kW. It might cost him about $4000 per kilowatt to put that in. If he was put in two megawatts, it would cost him about a $1000 per kilowatt.

"John chapter 13 verse 7. Jesus answered him. What I am doing, you do not understand now. But afterward, you will understand this first has meant so much to me over recent years amidst challenges and trials of various kinds to use language from first Peter. And I just want to encourage you with it today, especially if you were walking through challenge trial in your life. In any way, this picture of Jesus washing his disciples feet and Simon Peter sang. You're in a wash my feet and he's resisting what Jesus is wanting to do in his life. And she just looks at him and says, what I am doing, you don't understand now, but afterward, you will understand. And there was a moment. I was a year plus ago, and I was walking through something in an older brother in Christ, I passed her for decades who I respect deeply. I was sharing with him some of the struggles that I was walking through and he looked at me and he just quoted this verse and he said, David, you don't understand now what God is doing. But afterward, one day, you will understand. I was talking to another pastor friend later that exact same day who said something very similar. He'd been studying heaven and he said David I just don't think based on what the Bible teaches about who God is, what heaven is like, that we're going to get there one day and God's going to say to us, you know that trial, that difficulty, that challenge you walk through. Yeah, I don't know what that was about. No. And one day, we're going to understand that God was working in ways we couldn't see and didn't understand. But all throughout that challenge and trial, he was faithful, and he was wise. He was loving toward you.

A Prayer to Ease Worry

"Friend, if worry is gripping your heart and it is leading you down a dark path, may I remind you that we aren't meant to carry the weight of this world. Our minds, hearts, and physical bodies will literally collapse under such weight. That's the test we were never meant to withstand the constant knowledge near submerged in on the daily. Ecclesiastes one and 18. While we are to seek wisdom, we must control what we ingest by guarding our hearts and minds. The truth of the matter is that our hearts will be troubled in this life. We will encounter trials of all sorts. They can be certain of that. First, Peter four, 12 to 14. But we have hope as the lemurs that tucked within our worry is a pathway to peace. We are called to stand firm in that truth. Let's pray. Heavenly father, you are a God of peace. We are so thankful that you give us the ability to come to you with our troubles, worries, and concerns. And you love when we grant us a piece that goes beyond our own understanding. While we know we will come into places that bring on sear and worry, we ask that you stay with us and draw us close. Remind us that you will see us through. They are safety net in times that bring on confusion and lead our hearts back to the promise of sound throughout your word. We invite you to help us see areas in our lives in which we need to create safeguards for our hearts and minds. Guide and urge us to focus on what is pure wholesome and righteous. Lord, please give us a calm spirit as well when we receive news that is troublesome. Help us find resourceful ways to heal or anxious heart. Give us the will to seek your wisdom in these times and pour your unfailing love upon us. When our hearts want to wander off the pathway, when seer and worry wants to consume less, get us the courage to seeking and give us discernment. Help us trust new loan and remember that you have a special plan and purpose through our lives. We know that we were created for such a time as this and want to glorify you. So we ask that you make a fast Jeremy's rather strange time. And plant a sense of peace that will carry us through. We ask this in Jesus name. Amen.

Spiritual Gifts From God

"We are talking today about gifts. We're talking about the things God has given you to help make him known in the world. And I know a lot of you are starting with me and you're just confused. You're like, I don't know if I have gifts. I don't think I do. And I just want to encourage you that if you are a follower of Christ, then the spirit has imparted gifts to you. He is giving you gifts. Every one of you. First Peter for ten through 11. As each person has received a gift, use it to serve one another. Each person has received a gift. This is what got promises, and you see throughout the scriptures in multiple places, the unique gifts that God gives. And they might be the same as your natural gifts that you had prior to becoming a Christian. You may have been great at art. You may have been great at communication prior to being saved, but you may have been given new gifts by the spirit once you were saved. In fact, biblically, I would say likely that is true. Now we all know that God knew before time who his children would be. So likely he put in you things that you were just good at and then the spirit comes and gives power to that and enhances that. Sometimes you get really tripped up on what are my natural abilities and one of my spiritual gifts. You know what? What makes them spiritual is that you use them for the glory of God.

"A good bit of news. Wall Street journalist morning. Silicon Valley and Capitol Hill build an anti China alliance. A group of Silicon Valley executives, including Peter Thiel and Washington lawmakers, are quietly mobilizing at China's involvement in the U.S. tech industry. They plan to meet for a private dinner on Wednesday to discuss China national security and intensifying competition between the tech sectors of the U.S. and China. This was before TikTok gets hammered. TikTok is going to be out of business in the United States before long. Here's the deal. I love this hill and valley forum. The key thing is whom from whom will the Silicon Valley big tech people listen to advice. They might still get ambassador Robert O'Brien. They might, that deputy national security adviser, Matt pottinger, go get representative Mike Gallagher, go get representative Michael waltz, go get yourself. The Michael Pillsbury if he's a get good information and you'll get a good product out. Trump Is Likely to Be Indicted Soon

"Trump is likely to be indicted soon. And we're going to have hopefully Citizen Kane from citizen free press on the program tomorrow. By the way, Susan free press does an amazing job. To talk about this. And I think we got a game it out. I think we no longer can be taken by surprise. There's a new article out today, which all basically all but says of Atlanta journal constitution that Trump is going to get indicted. That's basically what the article was saying, right? Now, look, the constitution sets restrictions on running. The United States Constitution. Constitutional experts have told ABC News that previous Supreme Court rulings hold that Congress can not add qualifications to the person running for president. A state can not bar a person from ballot access for running for federal office if they meet the constitutional requirements, so states technically can't set limits, but I've heard other legal minds and they could be just very well wrong. Say that if you are a convicted felon, you're not allowed to be on the ballot. But I just think that's based. I don't see the evidence of that. But that's an interesting question. But then why are they trying to so badly to indict Donald Trump? They think it's really going to help hurt him politically. When a Republican primary, I actually think it helps him if he gets indicted. I think that if he's indicted, it proves the point that the entire system is against me. Because I'm trying to do something that is for you and not for them.

"How you doing? Good, Charlie, good to be with you. Amy, I want to thank you for your leadership in demanding the impeachment of mayorkas. How many people are crossing the border every single day and is anything being done about it? Well, if you take this week, you're going to probably average about 6500 to 7500 a day of encounters. And then you're going to have probably another four or 5000 of got aways. This administration actually, Charlie, they're doing something about it. They're making it easier and incentivizing more people to come into the country illegally. So they give the CBP one app and they're granting parole so they're giving you these people to a two year work permit to go out and work in the country. They'll then be lost. And otherwise, I will just say our CBP agents are working their tails off trying to stop this and do what they can, but this administration was simply will not let them enforce the law and the causing every kind of problem that, I mean, we could go into the weeds and go into the ground on this thing, but secretary mayorkas must be he should either resign or be impeached. He's not going to be impeached. Peter Schweizer Explains the Latest Twist in the Biden Family Saga

"Peter explained to me this news that comer has announced. And in kind of your working tally that you have, how much money the Biden family has received. Were you aware of this payment? Yes, if I'm reading the documents correctly, this $3 million payment is part of a total of 6 million that was sent to the Biden family by chairman yee of the CEFC energy company. So yes, there's 3 million was known. What we did not know is that that money was spread, not only just to hunter and to James Biden, but also to bull Biden's widow as well, who hunter was, I think, seeing at the time. So I love the vocabulary used sent to, because you didn't say the word earned or sent to, I mean, we're not just implying. This was explicit pay for play. Thanks for looking out for us. So this particular story that now comer has the receipts on, it's a little bit confusing of what family members actually, how many Biden family members are there that are involved in this thing. I mean, this makes the Gambino crime family look rather insignificant. Well, you know, Charlie, we've all heard of the great band the Jackson 5. We have the Biden 5 because we know of at least 5 Biden members who over the course of Joe Biden's public career have been rummaging at the trough in one form or the other. And this is the thing that people have to understand, you know, when people say, well, you know, we don't know if Joe Biden was involved in this. I mean, money's fungible and the way that the Biden family works is money gets shifted and sloshed around. So Hunter Biden was collecting this foreign money. He was also paying some of his dad's bills while his dad was vice president of the United States. So people need to understand this is not a Hunter Biden story. It's a Biden family story, which means it's a Joe Biden story.

Peter Schiff: The Fed Cannot Fight Inflation

"Peter you've only been warning about this like forever And I think the worst part about this entire thing and these God awful decisions made at this bank is now that this bank is failed Silicon Valley bank They're going to be allowed to post this collateral the same bonds that are acting as financial losers due to the hike in interest rates that the fed imposed upon us because of the inflation they cause So it's like how wait how can Biden seriously claim this isn't a bailout If they were losing money they wouldn't have needed a bailout and there wouldn't have been a liquidity crisis So you can't have it both ways And where do they think the money is coming from The man in the moon I mean the money the government has to get the money from somewhere There's no such thing as a free lunch Apparently Biden never got that memo But I've been saying this from the beginning I said it on your show that the fed could not fight inflation because raising interest rates sign up to fight inflation I said would cause a financial crisis I mean these other fools that are in the mainstream media that are supposedly experts including the ones that are sitting on the Federal Reserve FOMC they were saying that the fed could raise interest rates and not even cause the recession They were talking about a soft landing Everything is fine I was saying not only will they cause a recession they will cause a financial crisis not just a recession a complete disaster and that is exactly what happened But Powell just last week told Congress oh yeah we could Jack rates up another 50 basis points next week And everything is fine The economy is super strong The economy is a disaster And the banking system is a House of Cards

"It looks like world staring at another bailout here I mean Biden can play all the word games he wants but in effect what he's doing is sending in the United States government to digitally or print more money create more money out of thin air to backstop what in essence we're a bunch of terrible decisions made by bad managers at a bank Well I mean first of all Biden is lying when he says it's not a bailout and that taxpayers aren't going to pay It is a bailout and taxpayers are going to pay through the nose It's not just that banks made bad decisions They were led to make those bad decisions by government Number one the Federal Reserve kept interest rates at zero So the banks couldn't earn any yield And so they were forced to go out long duration to get into yield and they bought these ten to 30 year bank regulators pushed the banks into buying government securities because of the favorable accounting terms that they got Number one you didn't have to take a haircut on the assets So you've got dollar per dollar credit A lot of other assets you have to mark them down on your books And number two they never had to mark them to market So in order to appease regulators the banks bought all these treasuries and mortgage backed securities So the government can't now get upset that the banks did exactly what they were pressuring them to do So that's number one But the bigger issue is had they allowed these couple of banks to fail a Silicon Valley bank signature bank And allowed the uninsured depositors to lose money It would have been bad It would have been a financial crisis It would have been worse than the financial crisis in 2008

Peter Schiff: Inflation Is Going to Be Much Worse

"This is something I've been predicting for more than a decade because this was inevitable The minute the Federal Reserve lowered interest rates to zero and did QE they set the stage for the next greater financial crisis That's why I was so opposed to these policies when they were first implemented And I've been saying for years that exactly what happened to these banks would in fact happen But I also predicted what they just did which was bail them out because the politicians have no stomach for allowing the consequences of their bad policies to unfold without intervening once again And so what is going to happen is the Federal Reserve is effectively returned to quantitative easing It is now going to be printing trillions of dollars to swap with banks for their mortgage backed securities and treasuries that have collapsed in price due to the rise in interest rates So the fed's balance sheet is going to balloon lots of money is going to be printed and consumer prices are going to surge So if you thought inflation was bad last year wait till you get a hold of this year and next year it's going to be much worse And so that's how every American is going to pay for these bailouts with higher inflation The price of everything that working Americans need to buy is now going to be much more expensive thanks to the Federal Reserve at Joe Biden

"peter bar" Discussed on The Lead

"That's the great one himself, Wayne Gretzky, talking about newly minted Stanley Cup champion at kale macar. In just his third season in the NHL, makar has now emerged as one of the league's very best players, and he's already won just about everything, a defenseman can win. Congratulations. To the 2022 conspiracy trophy winner, Colorado avalanche defenseman Cale mccart. Today, the athletics Peter ba explains how my car went from a 125 pound baby faced kid that was often mistaken for someone's little brother to arguably the top defenseman in a generation. And, with Macarthur, Colorado avalanche now Stanley Cup champions, are they poised to become a dynasty? From wondering I'm under skeletal, it's Wednesday, June 29th, and this is the lead. Also, I gotta say this because your hockey players, no finding tonight, all right? This is the NHL awards, not the Oscars, okay? Let's have some class. Peter bar, welcome back to the show. Hi, thanks for having me. So Peter first, I was wondering if you could just walk me through your past couple of days. What is the life of a Colorado avalanche reporter like in the days after a Stanley Cup victory? Yeah, well, not a ton of sleep. I've maybe gotten four hours of sleep in the last 24 hours. So it's been a little hectic, but it's been a lot of fun. And yeah, certainly you get to see a lot of emotion and a lot of joy in these players and that's fun to write about. So no complaints here, even if I'm a little tired. For sure. All right, well, Peter, we're here today to talk about the guy who I think is safe to say, the Colorado avalanche is best player defenseman Cale macar. Hockey fans, of course, have gotten to see this guy absolutely dominating on the ice for a while now. But it seemed to me like he elevated his game even more during this year's playoffs. I'm wondering, what stood out to you about his performance during this year's championship run? Yeah, well, I think you saw it certain points, his ability to just take over games with his skating and puck moving ability. And also to create shooting lanes and get shots on net one a lot of the team couldn't. That's the best 5 for each team on the ice as we speak. There was a play against Nashville in game one where you kind of, he was skating up along the boards and just bolted towards the net and finished the puck past David Reddit. Nice little sidestep tracks along the wall. A car puts it up. He does it again. The magical defenseman fix it. Four nothing. And that was a goal he celebrated a little bit and kills a pretty humble guy. So when you see him celebrate, you know it's a pretty cool goal. Oh my gosh, short side top window. And then there was also a play against Edmonton when he was guarding Connor McDavid, who was coming up with the ice on a one on one. And just the ease with which he poked the puck away from McDavid was really, really impressive. Here comes Carter McDavid. He showed it on both ends of the ice offensive and defensive. And the Stanley Cup itself probably wasn't as best series, but he was still one of the best players whenever he was on the ice. They're doing it all. He was playing more minutes than anyone on the apps and was just a pretty noticeable presence every time he was on the ice and obviously Colorado's most impactful player throughout their run considering the fact that he won the unanimously. You also wrote about Kayla McCarthy reaction when he won the con smythe trophy as the playoff MVP on Sunday Night. What is it about that moment that stood out to you? Well, there wasn't much of a reaction. He just kind of they handed it to him. He smiled for the picture like you supposed to. Then he skated off and handed it to whoever he was supposed to give it away to and then just he wanted to get to the moment where he could lift the Stanley Cup. Kale, you're a Stanley Cup champion. What emotions are you experiencing right now? I'm in. I just look at these guys and all the work these guys have put in. Nathan McKinnon and Mika ran and came over and gave him a huge hug. And that was nice to see. So it was a cool moment for sure, but I mean, he's pretty understated when it comes to individual accolades. So he didn't really react all that much. I think he was more excited to lift this data up. You grow up. You see that thing as a kid and your pictures of it on your wall and I mean, all I think about is everybody that got me here and I mean my family's in the sand so it's amazing wherever they are, but it's just it's surreal to me. Well, Peter, I wanted to have you help us understand how kale macar has grown into. Arguably the best defenseman in a generation at still just 23 years of age, you've written about his path to greatness and how it was also not necessarily written in stone. I actually wanted to start with a photo that was a story that you recently wrote. Can you describe the photo of macar and a teammate with the junior a bandits of the Alberta junior Hockey League? Yeah, it's actually his cousin, Mark Logan, kale had just been called up to play as an affiliate player. So he's a younger guy playing just in the end of the regular season in the playoffs to the bandits, which was about two hours from where he grew up in Calgary. And he is rosy cheeked and super tiny way shorter has a huge grin on his face. He's super excited to be there. And his dad Gary said when he saw the pictures like, oh my gosh, Kel's gonna get killed out there. He's going up against kids. Some as old as like 20 years old. I think he was 15, maybe 16 at the time, but just tiny, tiny kid, these rosy cheeks in this big grins. Literally, it could have been mistaken for a 9 year old. With this kind of pudgy face. Yeah. But it was really already really good at hockey. And tell us about his decision to play with that non professional junior a team. Instead of some other options that were on the table for him at that time. Yeah, so he could have played major junior with medicine hat. If you do that though, you don't retain college eligibility. So kind of the way his family looked at it was he could have played in Brooks until I think he was 20. And then he would have had up to four years in college. I think I searched really realized the college wrote when my cousin, he started to go that way. And then I started to go to kind of seminars and kind of learn more and I just felt for me being a smaller guy at the time it was definitely the right way for me to go. Going to the bandits allowed him to keep his options open to go to college and gave what his dad called a longer runway. If he had needed more time to develop, he would have had more time than if he had just gone a major junior and eliminated the option of playing NCAA hockey in the U.S.. And tell us where he was at that stage of his career when he was 14, 15 years old and making this decision, like how highly touted was he, where was he in his career in his expectations for his career? Yeah, I mean, I think the people who watched him skate could see that there was something there. But he wasn't a huge prospect at that point. This wasn't a Sydney Crosby person who people knew from when he was really our Conor McDavid. People knew when he was 15. He was drafted in the 8th round of the western Hockey League draft by medicine hat..

"The pride passion that pageantry of college football lives here. This is the Paul fine bomb show our two podcast. What's up, y'all? Back for another hour. Peter burns sitting in for Paul fine bomb, who is on a jet plane over to Las Vegas. He'll be doing the show live from the, I think it's 7 O two area code if I'm not mistaken for the next couple of days. So you're hanging out with me for at least three more hours. 8 5 5 two four two Paul is the number we're talking about Mark emirate, deciding to step down early, remember he inexplicably got a contract extension almost a year ago today to 2025 and everybody was like, huh? Like, what, what? Really? Well, he decided, you know what? This thing's about to dissolve. And so he's bouncing out in 2023. Greg sankey has already said he's not interested in a job and I don't blame him. Why would he downgrade in a job? He's got the best gig and really college athletics right now. It probably has more power than Mark emirate as the commissioner of the SEC. 8 5 5 two four two Paul is the number. Let's go to pat in Georgia. Thanks for joining Peter burns here in the Paul finebaum show. What's up, pat? Hey, Peter. Thanks for being here today. I appreciate you. Thanks for listening, man. I think Greg, thank you, and SEC. Mark hammer, a debt of gratitude for being the quintessential incompetent nincompoop at the NCAA. And can't wait to see him go. But that's not why I called. There's a lot of talk yesterday about Kirby and about Nick Saban. And our Georgia bulldog, I think Kirby's got a Flynn a few more naughties before he's going to eclipse Nick. But I've got a front row seat and I'm going to enjoy the ride. What do you think? Patsy, you're saying even though you being a Georgia fan and I'm told yesterday was a heated four hour back and forth trench warfare between the callers about a better coach, Kirby smart and Nick Saban. You still, as a Georgia bulldog fan, even fresh off the title, still roll with Nick Saban, right? Well, in short, yes, but that's not what I said. Nick's not ready to eclipse to be eclipsed by Kirby yet. Kirby, Kirby's got one. Next got a bunch. But I think Kirby's Achilles heel or quarterbacks. He's never handled them. Well, as long as he's been at Georgia and I'm probably one of the few Georgia fans that I'm sorry that steps have been it came back. All he did was muddy the waters. How can Kirby get better at quarterbacks? Well, I mean, pat, thank you for the phone call. And Kirby can get better at quarterbacks by recruiting good quarterbacks. Well, guess what? He's got gunner Stockton, right? He's got Brock van der Griff. He's got Carson Becky has really good quarterbacks. Well, guess what? If they were good enough to beat out stetson Bennett right now, and they were overwhelmingly that much better, they play over stetson Bennett, right? And now Todd munchkins got an offense in which he knows he can hand the keys over to stetson Bennett, and they can say, listen, listen, we may not throw it 75 times. It may not look like Joe burrow and LSU, but we can get it out to Washington. We can get it out to Gilbert. We can get it out to all of these guys, run the ball extremely well, and play great defense. So again, I would say that Kirby is mismanaged a quarterback situation and you might say that going back to the Justin Fields, Jake fram days back in those days. But at the end of the day, he just won a natty. And hard to disagree that he's not doing the right things. Now I will be kind of curious to see because I would imagine somebody's going to transfer from that quarterback room. You can't have that many high star recruits in everyone's jockeying physician, they could play somewhere else. I'm very curious to see what it looks like over the next couple of weeks as the transfer portal will close for this season. Let's go to Mike is in Kentucky. Thanks, Mike, for joining us here in the Paul fine bombshell. What's up? Hey, Peter. Man, I got an idea that a whole lot makes a whole lot more sense and paint all these players in 90% of the main worth of money. Okay. There's only 2% I'm only 2% of college players have extended NFL careers. Now they want to give them all hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars. Why don't they do this, Peter? AI robot coaches that think a 100,000 times faster than Nick Saban that can predict your play calling with 99.9 9% accuracy. We'll see how good Nick Saban is in, huh? You know, it's interesting. It's funny because we talked about it. And I've heard that from fans saying, well, wait a minute. Why are these guys these recruits or why is this guy who's played one year getting this amount of money? Well, why is that any different than coaches that get contract extensions as well too? So again, it comes to the point of, I know you're joking around about saying, hey, let's just find Watson the IBM computer in program all these numbers. But there's still a very human element, right? There's a human element of the game. There's definitely a human element in recruiting. Some guys have it in some guys don't right now. And I think that's why the guys like Nick Saban and even Kirby smart and those others do not like name image and likeness as much because they have an advantage, right? They've built this advantage of, hey, this is how good we are of getting guys to the NFL. Hell, we're probably going to see Georgia set the record coming up the next couple of nights for the most guys drafted. And they're like, are we going to lose that edge if all of a sudden Miami? Or USC can offer this same recruit that would normally come to the SEC where they're not going to come from California now because all of a sudden some big time booster with the Trojans is going to say, well, you're worth $750,000 a year. That's why those coaches don't necessarily like it. But here's the deal. They can play by those same rules as well. The problem is nobody knows the rules. JK, thanks for joining us here at the Paul fine bombshell. What's up? Is that Peter bar Joe? All doing great, man. How you doing? I can't complain about nothing, man. Let me try to get a lot of light in a few seconds. First of all, all of these coaches that may have an issue or whining or crying about and complaining about certain players going to certain schools and they might not get the advantage from this point forward I didn't hear none of these coaches before when they obviously were paying players under the table to come to their school. They are on top. So I don't see what the issue is now. I don't understand the issue that some fans have with these kids getting paid for sacrificing their bodies on the field. When, in fact, a coach can make millions and millions of dollars for failing at his coaching job and with that early buyout. So all of that crap just needs to stop. And let me chime in on this coaching thing about saving and Kirby. I call Kirby, Kirby dumb, before this year, because there is no way he should have lost the Nick saving. The last three times that they played with double digit leads at halftime. I renamed him curvy dumb. But because he beat Alabama,.

"We picked this story because of the broader implications in part of that is whether or not you know in six months time whenever these supply chain issues get ironed out and there are no container ships stranded out in the ocean is dollar going to put out a press. Release saying hey good news everybody going back to a buck or prices gonna stick a dollar twenty five. What struck today. And i know you saw. This guy was our good friend. Peter bar bleakly advisors tweeted this bank. A bank of england governor said today. Transitory doesn't have a fixed time point which i thought was odd. It reminded me of eddie murphy routine. I won't tell you the two things that he said were permanent but nothing is permanent. So when they say transitory i mean. Of course there's an end at some point but it's preposterous when you start hearing these things and the fact that that officials said that mean rational people just have to be screaming like me you get into. I mean i find myself you want to get into a pool so you scream underwater and nobody hears you but you get it. I mean it's maddening in terms of dollar tree just to answer your question. It would be a brilliant not smart a brilliant marketing ploy. If the reason they did this is because they know six months from now they'll come out remember. I think it was mr mom schooner tuner you know. We're we're lowering the price for you. If they came out with the little schooner tuner thing and said guess what it was transitory. Were lowering our prices that would be a homerun accept. It ain't gonna happen. This is to me permanent. And it's just the world we live in right now. i'm not sure. Eighty percent of the audience knows what you're referring to but i get your point. No squall smell. I will tell you. The mr mom fans out there are numerous. They know about schooner tuna a little schooner sooner flag. Tammy raising your hand one thing. No i'll go ahead. And i have nothing to add other than fan. Funny tony one. Whatever it takes. Go ahead karen all right no i was just gonna say. I know your kids tim. They're no dummies. They're passing this onto you. You gotta get six twenty five to seven fifty. That's what's happening. I hope they are listening right now. All right let's more about what this all means for the consumer with by the way just eighty seven days to go until christmas joining us now is for toys r. Seo gerald storch storch advisors gerald great to have you with us so jerry you think that consumer strength that that's going to trump all it's going to trump price increases is gonna trump inventory issues all of that absolutely all these pressures are real staffing shortages inflation logistic. What are they're all real consumer stronger than all of them put together. We've been seeing huge increases in consumer spending when you look at a two year basis versus pre pandemic two thousand nineteen. And i just gonna continue on and on well into the fall certainly through christmas. This is a wonderful time to be a retail. I don't care if a dollar tree or walmart and the reason is because you are gonna pass these price increases on and you're going to see your top line rise faster than your cost going to rise. Why some your costs are certainly going up like labor costs but your fixed costs are fixed. Things like rent a lot of the written a lot of these stores. There are five year ten year accelerator. That kind of thing or some of the stores are owned our own people and so they have fixed costs for occupancy rising prices the arbitrage is tremendous. They're gonna make a lot of money across the board. That's what's going to happen. There will be shortages you to buy the right toy. You better get it fast. Because they're going to be out of stock sued but most things are going to be available and most you're going to sell. Scarcity is good. How do we think about it. In the in. Through the lens of say nike jerry. And i'm not asking you to opine about ninety per se in terms of their issues with supply. A lot of their factories are in fact. Shut down because they operate in southeast asia but yet they're able probably to not promote as much as they might have to or maybe their levels of promotional fairly low to begin with. How do we think about that sort of offset to not worry. Great question parts of that. It doesn't mean that every branded vendor is going to well depending upon what. They have available at nike said. They're going to have problems. That growth is going to slow because of the supply chain issues. vietnam particular. So some of these brandon. There's going to issues so and some of them are going to do fine. I'm talking about retail. If they don't sell nike they sell another shoe. The reality is christmas. Aren't going to be empty. They're gonna have something in them so retailer. Different from specific vendors may have their own issues. Now you also mentioned margin was the second part your question. Those are just going to keep expanding. We've already seen significant margin expansion especially among the troubled apparel department store sector. We haven't seen that in many many years where we're basically again. Because of shortages they haven't had to discount as much in their margins have been going up. I believe that's going to continue throughout the fall at the holiday period. I remember one of the things that one of the old saws and retelling stories. Is that your most profitable. Ours are on christmas eve in the daytime when all the husbands by their wives presence. And you're out of stock on think. They're absolutely desperate. They'll buy anything they'll pay anything for it. It may not be what she wanted. But you gotta come on with the president and they do and your margin is using your sales per hour actually biggest than even bigger. They are black friday so think about it this way. Each of the days between thanksgiving and christmas. They're kind of like christmas eve day. You've gotta go out and shop if you want to buy what you want. And margin's gonna expand like jerry. How do you see this playing out. Did you see work arounds. As far as the supply chain do you see sourcing move away from china and two different countries and then the other question is for christmas. Do you see the return of brick and mortar and then being a bigger piece of the pie versus digital online again to great questions. First of all. I've been saying for several years. This began back. With the trump tariffs on china. That'd be management malpractice not to diversify sourcing away from china so re. Everyone's been working hard to do that. And that's remember nike's problems are in vietnam was more than china right now. So you know. One of the things that everyone's been doing is trying to get multiple sources apply. That's only going to continue by the way really been the pattern for decades where we're sourcing tends to chase low cost. China isn't necessarily lowest cost to manufacture anything anymore so we all expect india to be more than in the past there. Other countries are coming up and live in america and north africa. depending upon the product it'd be manufactory in multiple places that's capitalism. it works it will diversify as you know so i have absolutely no no doubt that's going to occur. I'm sorry what was the second part of your question. I forgot brick and mortar. Do you see that. Yes as well last year. Last year we got hit with the second wave of the virus. You may recall. There were a lot of lockdowns at some key states like california that could happen delta. It's not what i'm seeing. The numbers i monitoring very closely. I'm sure you do too. We're seeing it come down. And so we have to watch the northeast and california for what happens over christmas bill. Start going back inside a little more. But we don't have a big uptick Do delta very the bricks and mortar will definitely huge..

Donnie secures the alligator as the handler is able to escape the pool with the help of another man. Todd christopher the woman explains the wiseman how how he should then exit the water. All right, so I need to know as a sports fan. What do you pulling for? What do you want to have the Super Bowl today? Okay, So, um, I would like to see the Bucks woman over Green Bank. I'm a huge time Brady fan. I love that story. Love the fact that he almost didn't get drafted and then what he's done with his career. Another lot of haters who think he you know, they want to see so many different women, But I like the bucks because I'm ready. Okay. I love the fact. Do you have a lot of haters? And you know they're the underdog story. So let's let's see them when I think, OK, Well, I'll tell you what new coat you know what we might go three deep here. Yes, we all thought it was an underdog and volleyball. Thank you very much. Yes. College scholarship the you know, Okay, player. I'm just joking, but I do think Do you think that's the matchup? We do want to see I like I I'm interested in seeing Tom Brady. And I think that that's why yes, his legacy has already secure with what he's done. Go right. We know we know with amount of titles. What I think is double the amount of postseason wins and any other other quarterback out there. Dublin, Peyton Manning Magnum, but nobody's even closed. I just think It changes even more. So if he's able to do it with Tampa Bay, right if he's able to bring it, and when a title it Z crazy, the chasm he will have from his level of success because you could make it look like Jordan and LeBron and go back and forth with rings and points and they played a different eras. But now you're talking about what Brady can do, winning another Super Bowl, winning with the different franchise in year, one thing called Take it a step further to when you look at the season as.
