"Represented san mateo county and co-authored the endangered species act so when he was campaigning for congress he came to pacific. This is author and historian. Brigitte oats it was nineteen. Sixty seven and pete's bother was helping him campaign. They decided to come and go door to door and it was only then. His father pointed up the hill and said by the way your grandfather built that castle. And i grew up. There turns out pete. Mccloskey's henry harrison mccloskey was a lawyer in san francisco around the turn of the twentieth century when the nineteen o. Six earthquake and fire destroyed the city. He was terrified. Henry harrison wanted to get his family out of san francisco. He wanted a fortress that would never burn never fall. There was a new railway line connecting san francisco to pacifica then known as salata beach and henry mccloskey thought he could get in on the ground floor of the hottest new beachside community. He built the castle in one thousand nine hundred eight when there were just six other buildings in the town. Henry unfortunately passed away and then they had to sell the castle. Henry harrison built the castle with the best materials and went into debt to do it after his death his wife couldn't afford to keep it in one thousand nine sixteen. Mccloskey's sold the castle to a doctor who said it would be the perfect place for his patients to convalesce as they found out later he was not a certified medical doctor which is very scandalous because when he moved in the sheriff notice carlights going down that horrible hill and they sent out some people to investigate. And that's when they discovered the abortion clinic that he was giving here in he was subsequently arrested abortions were illegal men and women often trusted their lives to untrained people claiming they could help. The doctor went to jail in nineteen. Twenty but bridget says his fake convalescent. Home was just the beginning of illicit dealings at the castle next on the scene was emil hewage from montana and that was right as the bolstered act was passed so prohibition and he was like hey perfect speakeasy used the castle to store. Smuggled whiskey and served to guests that his speakeasy chateau lafayette. It was one of seven speakeasies in a lot of each at the time. Bridget says rum running was big business. Here a local resident even found tunnels leading from his house. Down to the beach is foggy here. So the coastguard would miss these ships loaded with rum from canada and they would just check their crates into the sand and the locals would would load them up. They get paid in whiskey so they were like heck yeah. Let's do this. The party raged chateau lafayette for several years. Despite frequent police raids big door has been replaced many times and that is because mill hewitt would far it and the cops would scale the wall. Bring battering rams and sledgehammers and break the door down because they knew that he was giving parties. Here they were come in. They would confiscate the liquor. All the san francisco elite was here dressed.

"Yeah right back to go and Hey there Vic what's going on this morning Hey it's not a lot of everything there I would bonus in beaches playing with what I call about but I would imagine climate change all I can say is Steve that way back when when I was part of the we're paying their brilliant when major their current we have the ability to make their current and that they're going to say this man made climate change we need to do a better job of mount marketing yeah yes it which we have the capability thank god there demonstrated by the nuclear accident in Japan the mother country have been dark that we need now how many countries the greenhouse gas for the highway because all the charges that looked at recently shows that are green have actually been going there at all I can say is they need to put a white markers the actual air currents in what were contributing because they're using that to control our food shelter having a way to make a living and they said I haven't acted momentous impact on the American we need to do a whole lot better job market and that that that but don't miss impeachment banks he you know like a crime to harken back to Watergate and very few people were rounded most of what must have been a lot of attention to it when it happened but on the this Yankee probably saying there was a Supreme Court decision and the guy that argued that there are the the argument on the app that Nixon and that makes it more than title to the powers of the monarchy no we're statement saying and then it was the first yeah I didn't want to bring cord and brain court actually said no make sure that the ball doll that because the people that actually power going man was the defendant back in bed with the actually they were actually Republican and bachelor star disco well exactly privilege thank and they really weren't that great imports that they got a hold of the water great Watergate tapes but on the other president and the other thing is that in nineteen seventy two there are a lot of conservative highly upset with the kissing her do that I would national security adviser but because he was the one that was behind the China policy having IBM gifts of our technology the Russian board to get some are correct welding technology yeah right here and that's one of the local law that nineteen seventy aggression Kirk lady we then went to the board with a male line and the other thing was they were upset with that secretary of agriculture but basically given the Russian the law the grain and a very cheap price and they were so upset the branch in the bed of name of Pete McCloskey lugar Republican in California and actually all the charges against makes the nineteen seventy two it didn't go anywhere but at the same time that was when they formed the creep again later reelected president and the guy that was in charge of that well the guy will remain low down record and art and that he had been part of the city a counterintelligence is called cold work in illegal operation one of his illegal upper operation with buying on American by the name of Lee Harvey Oswald all the people that were connected to the Watergate bought Margaret will also part of that operation later people that were connected to a burglary the left also work to put France all over the place they were also linked in many ways the candy if that late in the bank and the bay of pigs now if these people committed the crime of the century and got away with it but the gap okay a fascination the organization the probably the other people how in the world today do sect bungled job at the Watergate and by and large many people were of the opinion man and they all are that these were people that had deliberately sabotaged that makes him for whatever reason and one reason was that Nixon had directly threaten the CIA the thing what forward it can undo the whole bay of pigs thanks and that was on the recordings but nobody really wants to talk about what he meant no migraine toward me he also said there in that statement that he was an important on the tape that thanks a lot then he was bored with the plan with the board the same plan with the important thing what the plan is I don't think anybody ever know the so what that relate to today is the fourteen point blank Watergate and impeachment I don't think they really want to get back in there at and I don't know what type of a legal planted drop and you want to go to mount or anything else but by and large they're trying to model very troubling basement after Watergate and I think there are a lot of people that bell great breeder fabric lead that they would all behind the Watergate thing but the well if you ask me I I think the it's just this year the mentioning the words Nixon Watergate associate with trump how bad that is if it's just trying to make trump look bad right right extra power but so she Asian guilt by association I would look for and I don't think that the Democrats were who want to go down that route because if you go back and look at all of that written record basically in nineteen seventy but I would be happy with them in prison and now would thank you Sir full run he said in the long run the Nixon impeachment would be good for the country even though or something to that effect and a black I don't be worried got yeah we're we're the good bank of the country to go through but that there are a lot of legal precedent that we're standing in the Big Bang was there before the Supreme Court decision about make you have to really hate it always been pretty much better prices than conversation will pop art people were to be kept confidential and pretty well limited and not be released now you can say they've got they expect one to release knowledge but president column of the president of the leaders of the world and everything else and that it is created with president trump I could not leave them out of step with their may release because people are living much by world they must be going there what we have available the only because they are learning thank you now that they would have never ever learn otherwise and look what they already know it's a pretty cheap but jeep information get the best that the burden the other thing too was about the Watergate break in supposedly the reason they went back and it's a bird the DNC offices and that work the working properly the lady said to go back in the jacked up when a truck well login devices in there in the first place how did you get him in there without getting caught with Adam but you got caught going back in the car you hate over the locks on the doors and yeah one murder there that when the security is Michael security yard making security rounds checking that were selling that's like you know how they work here so anyway I just want to make the point that the Democrats keep what they're buying up all that guilt by association and the sample would come back big time divided it croak legal thing really gets on that in there you know in hindsight here's what happened you know so Alex killers thank you thank you have a good morning all right news update time round the country it's eight eight eight eight six zero eighty seven eighty five eight six zero T. R. U. K. so gonna Tuesday coming on well Thursday of November or December December already hard to believe from your.

"A correction to what I said. evidently the department of defense has spent more than seventeen million dollars on fuel at Scotland's Glasgow Prestwick airport since Donald Trump was elected president. that's a hundred percent increase what the department of defense spent at Prestwick before trump's election. not only that I use the term eleven million turns out it was seventeen million thanks Michael. four one five eight zero eight zero eight ten. I really want your reaction particularly if you're trump supporter. by the way I don't wanna financial statement he prepares I want is taxes. so does Congress. so do you think it's a good thing of the house Judiciary can we will vote on Thursday to establish rules for hearings on impeachment. you know the goal I know the goal. the goal is to have an investigation. and release the results of that investigation it's not to have the house impeach Donald Trump. remember all the investigation Richard Nixon. I was never vote on impeachment. he ultimately resigned under pressure. the pressure came from the investigation was done and his own words on those tapes. I think that's the strategy I think that's what Nancy Pelosi is trying to do. do you agree or disagree with me. let's go to merry calling from Oakland very welcome to KGO. hi I think that. trump is a training academy of white privilege I feel like it was a bomb it would be twenty four hour story. then Obama was getting rich off the of this country. and I really hope that someone else elses relax elected beside him because I look at all these young black tea is there in prison you're never going to get out and I look at a lot of kids and I think they see trump they see the Hague believe produces that he's putting out there and I feel like it's a it's gonna the rep just like the sixties I think every everybody was calm up to the sixties and then it just he wrapped in and somebody is going to have to step in and do some about trump. well I think we have an opportunity we're gonna do it in the election all I have to tell you I think this is the most corrupt president in American history I don't say that lightly I don't I don't come in here with the axe to grind I disagree with trump on policies I'd rather be talking policies I don't know if it's a question of white privilege I think it is a fact of the Republican Party is going to defend this man all the way to the end and I think they're making a terrible mistake because I think in the end Donald Trump is going to be the one who well. it's going to be found guilty I think Republicans are gonna be separating themselves from Donald Trump for years and years to come. I hope so because I love them I'm an American and I love America and I just hope that somebody does something to pull America back together because I feel like. it just feel like it's a dissolving before my eyes it's not dissolving anyone know how I can assure you of that we have a Congress that is now investigating and the fire the president of the United States I'd be very worried. your call. by the way you look sorry I gave you on on Friday night. not much response to it but I want to repeat it because it happened. the president said Monday that some state Republican parties that is today are opting out of holding presidential nominating contests because they don't want to waste their money. holding a contest that he says doesn't exist. actually. the president. must understand. not the Republican Party is moving to defend and you know the Republican National Committee has already endorsed on from for reelection. there are three potential opponents none of whom are really substantial. but this president. is thrilled. that the Arizona Republican Party became the latest one to follow on the heels of South Carolina Kansas on the matter and you heard it here first last Friday. these four states store waste our money so the president. having primary campaigns and having a primary election is very expensive. that's the price of democracy is. can you imagine if the Democrats said said we're not going to have a primary back in sixty eight against Lyndon Johnson. Bobby Kennedy in gene McCarthy can you imagine. if in seventy two. because of Pete McCloskey and John. Ashbrook. who oppose the president in the primaries. they cancelled primaries can you imagine that. my friends that is terrible. we have a Joe Walsh the former South Carolina congressman we have mark Sanford the former governor of Massachusetts all rather of of South Carolina and the former governor of Massachusetts bill weld. the president argued that if this was a race state parties would certainly want to hold primaries but he dismissed as competitors. noting like the three people the three Stooges he called them there are a total joke. four one five eight zero eight zero eight ten. now you got the Republican Party subverting democracy. you know what. there ought to be a primary. pure and simple. I believe in the primary system. Marilyn emails. he can eat his financial report I want his complete taxes the end that's what I want that's what Congress wants. four one five eight zero eight zero eight ten. so I'm asking you a question. there are three areas of investigation of this president. one of structure justice to the pay offs the two women and three the question of emoluments. does any of this have traction. four one five eight zero eight zero eight ten I am.

"Katie WN today is actually Earth Day. How about that? And it's the forty-ninth Earth Day. Right. Stan when they start. Yeah. It started back in nineteen seventy it was initiated by Senator Gaylord Nelson. I think me double check. Yeah. And he was working with of Senator Paul Pete mcclosky from or congressman Pete McCloskey from the bay area, and they came up this idea that to do in national teach in and basically coordinate with a lot of different colleges and talk about the environment. They felt at the time that that there were a lot of problems environmental problems. And so this is a chance to just take a big broad look at at what was going on. And and that was the very first one in nineteen seventy it was led by David. Dennis Hays who was a teacher at at Harvard, and he kind of started the movement, and it's been interesting. It started kind of on college campuses was kind of a white middle class thing at the time. We also had issues with Vietnam going on during that nineteen seventy and also the racial issues of the were being resolved. But it did come out of the Nixon administration and along with those with that Earth Day. Establishment? Also, the Environmental Protection Agency was established under that around that same year as well as the Clean Air Act the clean water act and the Endangered Species Act. So that was kind of a breakthrough time where people got this idea that we need to really look at our planet and protect our planet or we're not going to be very long. So that was kind of the start back then forty nine years later here we are. So I think we've made some progress during that time a lot of people. Remember, the big Valdez spill, but kind of branched off out of the massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, right? Well, think it all started in Santa Barbara? Well, it was actually the spill in Stanford Barbara that got people thinking about it. And then all these great folks came together and started what is now the forty-ninth Earth Day and speaking of Earth Day, we had a great festival this weekend. And we're going to talk a lot about that today on the show. But before we get to that I wanna talk to Mr. police and ask them about what's going on out there in legislation. World Tom tell us what's one raping and coincidental. With her stay is the renewable energy portfolio standard. So that is an issue that is near and dear to the hearts of many in southern Nevada that was reflected in the vote on questions six the referendum question in which a ballpark of sixty percent of voters out.
