"Boone play with the 40 Niners from 2009 to 2015. Then it back to back years of the Vikings and the Cardinals wasn't in the NFL in 2018 wasn't in the NFL in 2019. In late December of 2020 signed on the Seahawks practice squad. And then early January. He played in the game for the Seattle Seahawks. And now joining us is our pal Alex Boone. Alex that you've been fabulous. How are you? I'm doing great, and I'm in even better mood when we get a chance to talk to you, So I had this opportunity. Come about in Seattle that you were out of the league for two years. And then Bam, you're on the practice squad and then playing in a game. Well, you know, I think you kind of turn around one time ago. What happened and I feel like I'm still ready to roll and I think everybody kind of laughed at me. But then It is interesting. I got a call from Baltimore first is I went out there and work down there like there. We love you and then alright right before I'm about to sign with them Seattle calls and it's my old old line coach, and everybody knows that Mike Salar is putting a team together. He's working guys, I'm there. I mean, I love the way he does things. And then not only that, but Pete Carroll getting a chance to work with him after hearing guys talk about how amazing he was, how he lets you be yourself, and he did not disappoint anyway. Are you planning on playing again this season? I hope so. I told him they said, Well, you know, it's playing junior. They gotta do. Listen. That was awesome. You know, coming in being able to play right away like super professional and Like what? Your plans are like 10 more years is what I like. And they're like you're psycho will call you later. Are you on the TV? Tall diet? There you Are. You kidding me? I'm on the rhino died. I'm back being like 3 30 Feeling good about myself. I feel like I'm 16 Did life is good. So no avocado ice cream for you is what you're telling me. That would be honestly. I'm not a fan of avocados. I don't have any Cleveland. We don't do the avocado smoothie thing. Alex Boone here with us. How is your relationship with Ross? When you were there For the short time? It was awesome. And I got to be honest. I was talking to someone earlier today about this and then I think they were kind of blood available by what I said, but I have so much respect for this guy just because you see him on TV doing it, and I used to see him across the field doing it all the time. And I always wondered what his mindset was and how he approached things and God, this guy cannot be defeated in his own mind. He is a warrior. He's the Alpha dog, and then you stand in the heart of with them, and you just feel his aura. You feel the print presence in the huddle and everyone's like their trust that he just he's the boss. The suit he starts talking. I got so excited. I was like, Oh, my God, I can't believe I'm living in this moment to be able to talk to him and He kind of talked a little bit of extra the nose with them and really just kind of little personal talk. I mean, it was awesome to see how he is around the guys. How he is, is a leader as a as a role model and how he tries to take the game on his shoulder. It's incredible. There's all this conversation about Russell Wilson with him, saying he's tired of getting hit to the media. And there's this conversation that Russ is frustrated with the organization. Did you sense any of that in your short time in Seattle? No, not at all. I think that when you're with Russ, you understand that He is a focused about him, and he's like, Hey, listen, whatever we have to do today to get better. I mean, this team has always been positive. Every single time I played the Seahawks, whether they were winning or whether they were losing their always the same team and it starts with Pete and it works its way down to Russ. And then from there breaks off in the cage and Bobby and all these guys is It's the belief system that Hey, listen, this game is going to take every quarter is gonna take every man as long as every man goes out there does his job. We're gonna be okay. Like as soon as I walked in, I saw and I was like, Wow, this is This is exactly how it should be. And have peace attitude every day excitable and you're already begin. They're messing with your chewing bubble gum. I mean, it's just awesome. Awesome environment s so I'll follow up then Did you sense any tension between Pete Kallen? Brian Schottenheimer cause shot? He's no longer there and it was a difference of philosophy from what we heard. Not at all. And that was another thing kind of took me by surprise. You know, talking to shoddy afterwards and really getting understands his mind set on. I understand what Pete saying. Listen, Chris Carson is by far one of the best running backs I've ever played with, and I don't get to play with him for very long. But he is so impressive when you watch him in practice. When you watch me and James the way he takes those hits the way she still delivers. A hit to somebody is incredible to watch. And so for peace he's like, Hey, listen, we need to do that more. We need people to fear us. We don't want them to fear rush. We want them to fear everybody. And in order to do that, you have to run the ball. You have to let the game plan just roll. And sometimes it gets boring and monotonous. Look at the 40 Niners two years ago, everybody was like that. These are terrible winds, but they're still wins. And they're credible wins. And then all the sudden next thing you know you're developing calluses on your team and guys are showing out and having fun, Dude, it is awesome..

"You may ask yourself, Zach. Why applying a Pete Carroll? Audio cut from yesterday. Where he talks about wanting to run the football more. Well, Now we have some work context on that. And maybe that was just the little tease of the news that just got released 15 minutes ago. From the Seattle Seahawks Twitter account. Brian Schottenheimer. Is a fantastic person and coach. Whenever you see that right away you go. I'm not stupid. There has to be a butt or there has to be something negative coming. Right? Because whenever someone calls me up, Zach Love the show. You're the best. I always just go. All right. I know that you're being nice. I know you're saying all the great things I want your opinion on. This was horrible. But I can't stand when you do that. But Bob, blah, blah, blah, blah. And sometimes people are just trying to be nice, and you got to give people the benefit of the doubt. When you see it from a professional sports organization, or, as they say, in Canada professional sports organization. Brian Schottenheimer is a fantastic person and coach and we thank him. For the last three years, citing philosophical differences. We have parted ways. Now that's a very attractive offensive coordinating job. We shall see who lands as the Next offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, But it's very clear what happened earlier in the year. My fantasy football team loved it. I know nobody cares about your hardest hit teams out. Nobody cares about your fantasy team. But my fantasy football team and Russell Wilson when they were let in Russ Cook, it was awesome. It was so fun to watch is a football fan, then halfway through the season See what see there weren't letting Russ cook or what Russ was cooking was coming back Burn. And that's what we kept on seeing because it was a difference of complete antithesis of complete 1 80 from where the Seahawks were the first half of the season and where they were the second half of the season. No. The Rams have a very good defense and Brandon Staley's done a great job there, along with Aaron, Donald and Jalen Ramsey. Russell Wilson, and that Seattle Seahawks offense couldn't beat out John Mulford at first. And then you got Jarod Golf in the game shortly one so well for got knocked out of the game, and Jared Golf is basically playing with one hand. On his own throwing hand. You saw how inflamed his thumb was. He shouldn't have been on the field, but he's only there for emergency purposes. And let me just say this. No. And you know, just to get to a different point. I'll get back to the Seahawks story. Question Sean McVeigh's roster decision You go into a game knowing Jared Goff is going to only be used for emergency purposes. Shouldn't you have insurance to Jared Goff? How he let wolf and I know you're not thinking Wolfert is going to get hurt, but you need to prepare to be prepared for all situations. The fact that it was to go to Jared Goff, no matter what. I have no insurance in case if golf a gat in the field than his thumb got messed up again, or he got hurt. They had Blake Bortles on the roster. I get it and make all the Blake Bortles jokes you want. Blake Bortles has to be active for that game. You got to sit someone else down. Yes. The nightmare happened right away. John Woolford, which I never thought I'd be saying those words. The nightmare of John Bull for getting hurt. I hope he's all right. You know, you go to the hospital, so I got out of the hospital, But John Wolf fur gets hurt and you go to Jared Goff. Jared Goff shouldn't have been on that field. And if Jared Goff got hurt? Well, yeah, they're in Donald B. The whole can be a quarterback. You have Cooper Cup. You gotta have the punter. Neither quarterback like who would have been the quarterback, so I thought that was a questionable decision by one Sean McVeigh. So it's so clear what did transpire in Seattle. This is the way that I interpret when you say philosophical differences. In the beginning of the year. We saw us cookie Pete Kallen midway through the years, said this isn't sustainable. No matter if you need to take a running back in the first round or late rounds, you always get into that debate. You need to have running backs on your roster. How many times we've seen running back by committee get the job done. The Seahawks have the running back. I know that they've been hit with some injuries. You saw? Probably Pete Carroll say we need to run the football more because when we get later into the year, we need to have some balance. Brian Schottenheimer probably sat back and said, coach with all due respect. You see what our offense is doing right now. It's a defense that can't do anything. And then by the time the season ended, it was that offense. Not being able to produce points and the defense is actually carrying their own weight. I'm playing really well. And you heard that from yesterday, Pete Carroll talking about they had to run the football more and clearly, Brian Schottenheimer wasn't agreeing to that. And Pete Carroll said Brian Come on. You are not a great offensive coordinator. Grab a seat on the bench in someone else's organization. And now Brian Schottenheimer is out. As offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks. That's a job I want. Obama young, innovative offense of mind looking to be head coach. I would go to Seattle. I would definitely go to Seattle being offensive coordinator who knows Maybe a Island Experience ends up becoming the offensive coordinator there like for example, we saw Dan Quinn the other day be announced as the defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys. Which Dan Quinn He wasn't a horrible head coach. I know I've been one of his biggest critics. The guy did get a team to a Super Bowl than in the big game did not do all that well. And then should I got fired years ago in Atlanta. And quit in Dallas and not to be over the top disrespectful. It just seems as if with McCarthy there, Dan Quinn there, that's not gonna that's not gonna work, I would think the only way that works Maybe the Cowboys do in the division is just because how bad that division is. The Giants aren't a good football team, Washington's football team. They have a good defense. They've got to get a quarterback and Philadelphia right now is a dumpster fire discovered it. Doug Peterson, who won a Super Bowl three years ago. I don't think Doug Peterson is going to be the next offensive coordinator of the of the Seattle Seahawks. Probably his next job I would imagine would be a head coaching job. Maybe it's college. Maybe it's NFL who knows the guy's making $6 million.6 million dollars this year next year. He doesn't need to rush back to get a job. So we'll see who ends up getting that job. Now. You were telling me trace during the break when this news is breaking that one of the names that has been rumored so far ashamed. Steichen, who used to be the offensive coordinator for two seasons ago, get elevated to offensive coordinator the Los Angeles Chargers that that's the name that you saw. That is the name that he and rapid forward and other insiders are kind of throwing around. This could be a logical fit in Seattle. No, I don't know Too much about change. Taiking. I actually did talk to Anthony Lynn once when I was working for a different network the week where Shane Steichen got promoted to offensive coordinator and they got rid of I want to say it was Ken wasn't hunt. Did anyone love that Chargers offense this year? You don't even love the clock management of that charge is often sure Herbert was great. And maybe that's more of a reflection on Anthony Lynn. But Steichen was the one that was calling the place. And it seemed as if it took a long time late in games when you need to move quickly. Get those plays out. So you.

"12 days of Christmas. Last January, the New England Patriots lost to the Tennessee Titans. The wild card round of the A F C playoffs, which meant we had to do something nice for the Patriots, like holding a funeral. Yes. We not only all read our farewells our last rites to the Patriots dynasty. We actually had a pallbearer and Reverend come in to also speak of the dead. The New England Patriots dynasty was over. Even before we knew Tom Brady was definitely leaving. It's number one on the 12 the A's of Christmas the death. Of the dynasty. Number one Don't have Darth Vader and we have the witness. I think the best we can do is each one of you Give your own eulogy. Father. Thank you so much as the poet William Martin Joel once wrote. Only the good die young. You saved us from the greatest threat on turf. We'd all be wearing Jake alone jerseys right now, if it wasn't for you. You made Donovan McNabb puke. You mean Pete Kallen Russell Wilson show And you did it all the right way. You're winning was pure, not even a hint of impropriety. Your cameras were always pointed in the right direction. Your balls always had the right P s. I You answered any and all questions from the media with the elaborate thoughts on the utmost respect. You should be a priest. That was seminary material. Thank you. What? Sorry. The thought of Tom Brady, not leading the charge. In a 40 point. Pull out of my New York Jets brings a tear to my eye. As the great comedian Andy Kaufman, one's fellow, A smile means friendship to everyone. The mountains are wide and the ocean divide. It's a small world after all, Tom, you're that smile to all of us. We were stunned. Your news when you're mere aura caused a quarterback to run.

"Going to play a soft zone against Drew Brees? That is like walking into a playground with a kick me sign taped to your back that I was befuddled. Either game plan on both sides of the ball. And while the execution was lacking as well, Tom braided in play well, some of the books secondary didn't play well. Coaching was there see out of order a little out of order on point? You could not be more on point that is a lucid, intelligent, well thought out. Objection. Freeze completed. Passes to seven different receivers in the first quarter, and we talked to a 10 year NFL vet and former wide receiver Harry Douglas, who played in that division over a long time against those Saints. He said. If you got placed all his own against us, and I'm I'm Emmanuel Sanders or Michael Thomas. I'm coming out or going through you. Look you see in this. What do you say? We're all going to eat tonight on? They didn't ever say everybody got a piece of that Tampa Bay pie, man. Everybody Gee spot on what you said. What she said, because everybody was to blame Coaches players, but you put together that kind of game plan. I don't know what was worse that game plan from Tampa Bay on what Pete Kallen Seattle Seahawks that we weren't prepared for Buffalo is going to do. We were surprised by the AP Cowboy making a judgment once in a while. It's okay to try. It is okay to try something different is something's not working. They didn't try anything different. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers on either side of the ball one more thing on that on that game, because we did a lot on that game tonight, obviously, because that was the biggest overreaction. It is an overreaction to hike your leg right now, like a dog on a fire hydrant on Tampa Bay. Of course, that is a also a lot of people today. What sort of booking McFarland going? Well, maybe they aren't, a Super Bowl contender. That is a grotesque overreaction there still a contender. They had an awful night because it has happened to the Saints. It has happened to the Packers. It has happened in just about every team not named Pittsburgh or Kansas City. In the National Football League. Those things are gonna happen, but things those things always get called out when it comes to out of order, Simmons on Freddie Coleman and Freddy and Fitz Simmons, and don't forget pencil. "Triple eight, ESPN 887293776 real Quick update me on the Saints Raiders game really good game That's now at halftime. At one point, the Saints had a 17 to 7 League. But Carlson is a 20 yard field goal for the Las Vegas Raiders. This game is now tied at 17. At half time that interception by breeze. He was rolling pretty good in the two minute offense, and then he had the linebacker right between the numbers. And all of sudden you give points before the end of half time. And everything got a little different between the Saints and Raiders. Freddie will you not tell? We've talked about this a lot. Points before the half the last two minutes of the first half. You talk to any coach Nick Saban harps on this, maybe more than anybody else we've ever talked to. He values points before the half as double. So that's essentially a touchdown that in his in his mind and Sean Payton's mind those those two guys are good friends, right points for the half, especially off turn over when you're looking to get points. Man, you talk about a momenta MME swing going and a half that that is a big big mistake by Drew Brees. He never saw the backer eating right between the five and zero. Next thing, you know. Got ourselves a tie ball game and Derek Carr comes under a lot of flack. Give him some credit on third down in the first half, seven of eight for six first downs and a touchdown is only incompletion. We just saw it was a throw away in the right corner, 17 to 2377 yards and two touchdowns so far, D Walter Titans have a nice night, too. For the for the Las Vegas Rays of five cats with 60 50 for years, But right now, a game tied at 17 between the Raiders and the Saints on Monday night football, the first game that Brian who stadium in Las Vegas, that friend is going to stop by and tell us what it's like to watch a game in that state, and he's going to do that, in about 10 Minutes of the NFL news real quick Before we get to the likeable Lakers. The NFL has fine, not one, not two, but three coaches. Three coaches. We're not wearing masks on the field this weekend they have find so far. Big Fangio of the Denver Broncos. Pete Kallen, Seattle Seahawks Cows stand head of the San Francisco 5900 bucks each. We're not wearing masks on Sunday, Each of those things we find another $250,000. You add it all up $1.5 million in fines. We're not wearing masks. By the way. John Gruden is doing the same thing not wearing a mask in the sidelines. But in Las Vegas Raiders boy, the NFL Christmas is gonna be big with all this money hidden and finds our guys not wearing masks. I thought it would be like 25 grand for a coach, Freddie, not a Honda. Not like with the NFL's doing sending a very firm message. You don't mask up you go pay up. Can you imagine? Go to your body's A. Well, Not only is it cost 100 thou You got paid 250,000 cost me 100 because you write to fifth. Yeah, meanwhile, where the damn mask period safety and financial reasons All right there. By the way, Paul Gutierrez Way talking about 10 minutes. Let's bring him in now. ESPN phone Ace reporter comes the Raiders he joins in Freddy and Fitz Simmons on ESPN Radio, ESPN APP and 80. Paul number one. What is it? What is that stadium like we see it on TV. First came in Las Vegas. What is it like being there where you are right now. Guys very bizarre mean on a personal level. It's strange, you know, I went to UNLV. So the thought of the NFL ever coming in Las Vegas with something you never could even comprehend, let alone expect to see And now that it's here There's no fan. It sounds like a scrimmage. You can hear the pop of the pads all the way up here in the press box. And on top of that, it's It's kind of like with the rest of the world is going through. It's hurry up and wait. So it feels like that here in the stadium. I mean, it's got all the bells and whistles. You could imagine Carol Davis, the mother of Mark Davis, and the widow of Al Davis, she left The brand new Al Davis torture and memory of him, So it's a lot of just kind of surreal experience is going on right now. And I know yeah, there's a game going on to the states were in charge early on on, and the Raiders have mounted a impressive comeback to tie this thing off the half 17 or what have you seen? Describe what you watched. Basically, the Raiders could not get their running game going get. The first quarter was a mess for the Raiders. I mean, they could not stop the run, and they could not stop the Saints past Russian In the second quarter, Derek Carr was able to turn it around and use those intermediate pass came to set other things up. Hey, looks like a different player in the 2nd 2nd quarter after taking three facts for the first time in his career in the first quarter, so it looks like he's got something going with himself right now. Drew Brees look like Super Sharp one series, and he looked really slopping the next, So it's kind of, you know, it seems like it's going to come down to who's got the ball last in this game, which would be pretty amazing considering the Raiders of such big underdogs for Gutierrez, ESPN NFL Nature reporter covering the Raiders joining us on Friday, and Fitz Simmons on ESPN radio. What has it been like in that city? Having an NFL team, even though fans can't go to the stadium, knowing that NFL team is there in that stadium and there to stay Well, put it this way, guys. I think the best way to put it is is, you know with the pandemic, there's been a lot of things that have shut down obviously different states. Different counties have different rules. But Las Vegas for some reason. Last night at 11 59 PM opened up the bars. So the fact that they had to do with the Raiders and the Raider fans coming into town Mayor may not have something to do with that, but I'm a I'm a conspiracy theorist every now and again, and that's the way this down. Let's welcome the team and the Raider Gear and Raider fans as New York, New York, the casino on the corner here, Tropicana in the Las Vegas Strip, the Statue of Liberty. She's rockin a number 20, Raiders jersey yourself, So it's pretty interesting. That's hilarious. It looks like a big Roomba. I mean, that's it Looks like on TV..

"I think so, man, I think he's got to beat this week. He sounds up in last week after working with a swing coach Claude Harmon and also getting another set of eyes on him. In the course Whisperer. His name is Pete Kallen is great. Instructor very well respected guy in the game, and Brooks all of a sudden put his foot on the gas last week in Memphis and had a runner up finish. He almost won didn't close well enough. With Justin Thomas right there, So I think Captain is not a big chalk guy Exact. But I think kept because they've got to beat this weekend. Brooks is going to be The first guy since Walter Hagen, which was like 1000 years ago to win three straight PGA Championships, and Walter did it four times in a row. If it's not Brooks kept, is it J t in your mind? I mean it. Brooks is one Justin Thomas is one day or spice versa. 11 a Justin Thomas coming off that beautiful win last week in Memphis. He's the number one player in the world, and here's a little bit of an oddity. It's hard to win tournaments, and when you're the number one player in the world and you just ascended to that position It's hard to win back to back tournaments. The last two times. The highest level of golf has been played at TPC Harding Park, not the Presidents Cup in 2009 the last two big events to be played. They're the number one player in the world coming into the week. One Tiger woods in the mid to thousands or a mackerel in 2015. So Justin Thomas just climbed the number one with that wind last week in Memphis. He is the odds on favorite to win. I think it's going to be here. Brooks with a couple of other guys, you know, coming around the bend, but at the end that it's going to be captain. I know he wasn't great at the memorial. But what did you take away from Tiger's on ly tournament since Cove in 19 man, It's tough this tub Zach, It's kind of like Jordan. How do you pick a guy's place? Four rounds is the beginning of February, even though he's the greatest player of his generation, arguably the greatest player of all.
