Pete Rose Pt. 2: For or Against?
"Another day another ballpark Kevin Harlan and loved his job but the newly minted head of security from Major League Baseball had to admit it was getting a bit monotonous on the surface. So many of these stadiums have their own mystique from Green Monster Monster at Boston's Fenway Park to the Ivy covered brick outfield wall at Chicago's Wrigley Field each place had its own quirks its own personality but underground they were all the same the long concrete tunnels the bustle of activity everyone doing his or her part to make sure the game going on above them went off without a hitch but there was another side to what was happening a darker side when he first I started touring the Ballpark's Helen was surprised at how easy it was to gain entry into players club houses they were packed with all sorts of characters none of whom had any form of security clearance that included the vast entourage of slime balls that accompanied Pete Rose rose everywhere he went they were big guys with bulging muscles slicked back hair and pagers clip to their belts Helen a new type right from his days in the nypd he could spot bookies from a mile away. Hallinan had heard the rumors that Pete Rose was a profligate gambler earlier and once he saw the kind of people pete surrounded himself with he began to suspect the whisperers were true however this wasn't some scrub Auber journeyman outfielder this was pete rose the hit king it was only a matter of time until he was enshrined into the Hall of Fame But if HAL ammon suspicions proved to be correct it didn't matter how influential Pete was if it turned out Pete's gambling habits had spread to baseball he would be in violation of one of the MLB as most iron clad rules. Anyone who bad on a major league baseball game would be banned from the sport forever. We love let us know how we're doing reach out on facebook and Instagram Damn at podcast and twitter at podcast network this is our second episode on Pete Rose Major League Baseball's all time leader in hits as well as one of only three living people currently on the MLB's ineligible list last week we traced Pete's incredible career career as he went from unheralded prospect to legendary superstar we also examined his obsession with gambling and how this lifestyle became more problematic Blah matic as his success group this week we'll continue to follow peace quest to pass ty COBB's all time record of four thousand one hundred within ninety one hits but as his gambling habits catch the eye of the most powerful men in baseball pizza place amongst the greats becomes uh-huh jeopardized ninety four hits. That's all forty four year old Pete rose needed to pass ty hi cobs all time hits record and is the nineteen eighty five season approached. The newly minted Cincinnati Reds player manager was all but guaranteed to shatter a record once considered unbreakable that is if his gambling problems didn't catch up with him first Pete's returned to Cincinnati also meant a return to his old gambling circles. Although he had kept up his illegal sports betting after leaving leaving the reds in one thousand nine hundred ninety nine the bookies in Cincy knew him he was Pete Freak and rose an icon a legend what's more he was one of them. Pete may have been a celebrity but he didn't act like some stuck up millionaire take away the baseball ball uniform and he was just another guy from Anderson ferry if he wanted to make a bet all he had to do was ask and Pete Pete certainly wanted to bet in the fall of nineteen eighty four he found out from a friend that the real action was taking place out of a local Gold's Gold's gym but Pete was too recognizable to stroll through the doors and start placing bets himself as we discussed last week betting on any sports sports other than horse racing was illegal. If it was too obvious that Pete was breaking the law he could risk getting arrested however that didn't didn't keep him from gambling he just had intermediaries place wagers forum with a bookie named Ron Peters by December he was using using Peter's to place two thousand dollar bets on up to ten football games every weekend and as the bookie would later confess pete eventually started betting on baseball to his bold play on the field to his extramarital affairs pete had had always been reckless but betting on baseball was taking it to another level betting on baseball had been a stain on the MLB MLB legacy since the so called black socks nineteen nineteen scandal in which members of the Chicago White Sox were accused of purposely throwing throwing the world series the black SOx scandal violated one of the most sacred tenants of the sport that the most deserving team would emerge emerged victorious to restore the public's faith in the League rule twenty one section D was created in nineteen twenty seven according to this stipulation if any employees of a major league baseball team was caught betting on baseball games they would be placed on the permanent imminent in eligible list that meant they would be barred from participating in any official. MLB events for the rest of their life. If repeat got caught betting on baseball he wouldn't be able to continue his quest to break ty Cobb's record. You'd be forced to step down from his position and as the reds manager he wouldn't even be able to enter a stadium unless he bought a ticket like everyone else but for Pete to be found in in violation of rule twenty one he would have to get caught betting on baseball and there were few factors making such a thing extremely unlikely first the very nature of underground bedding made it hard to trace any wagers back to pete in addition to relying on cash Asha exchanges bookies also made sure to refer to people using codenames for instance Pete's Moniker was the number fourteen gene. It wasn't particularly subtle it word on his back and every time he took to the field but it's still kept his name from being uttered allowed second unless a police officer went undercover exposed a bookmaker and convinced them to out their clients. There was no real way to catch Pete Red handed ended and even then with so little in the way of physical evidence it would be hard to actually prove Pete had made the bets especially Louis if he used someone as an intermediary to place bets for him but all these roadblocks were useless. If Pete didn't keep his mouth shut talk about what he was doing all it would take to bring him down was pete trusting his secret with the wrong person as it turned out that person was his own mother Laverne apparently Pete Disgust discussed his gambling with laverne however he neglected to mention that she should keep it a secret unbeknownst to Laverne she was sitting on a powder keg that could destroy her son's career and when a Cincinnati Inquirer journalist named John Iraqi came calling she inadvertently Lee let it blow up ahead of the nineteen eighty five season Iraqi visited Laverne to do some background research for his upcoming book chronicling Glinka Pete's attempt to break ty COBB's hit record as they chatted Laverne. Let slip that Pete had lost a lot of money when he bet on the San the ACL padres to win in the eighty four world series against the Detroit Tigers although a rarity had just moved to the sports division from Metro he was pretty sure that it was against the MLB's rules for Pete to bet on baseball. If he decided to dig any deeper he could probably find out not enough to get P placed on the ineligible list but Iraqi stayed quiet betting on baseball was considered a high crime against the sport court at the same time. Pete was only ninety four hits away from passing COBB. If Iraqi exposed the hometown hero when he he was so close to breaking the record the journalists would probably get run out of town for the moment pete secret was safe as the nineteen eighty five season dawned all anybody in Cincinnati could talk about was when Pete would break the record. It didn't matter that the man known as Charlie Hustle was old and slow the reds faithful knew he deliver come hell or high water. He always delivered even at forty four years old Pete certainly seemed up to the task even though his body couldn't take the grind of playing almost every day he got into the lineup enough to consistently rack up heads throughout the spring and summer by the time the calendar hits September he was within striking range of COBB's record by September eighth. Pete was at four thousand one hundred hundred eighty nine hits only two hits away from COBB. It was the last of a six game road trip and much to the delight of Reds Fans Hands Back in Cincinnati. The Chicago cubs were planning on playing a left handed pitcher one of Pete's rules when he returned to the reds was that he would never never play against lefties even as a switch hitter they gave him too much trouble. Despite the fact that the record was in his sights he planned to honor honor that rule he wouldn't bat again until the reds came home. It was all but assured that Pete rose would become the new hit king in front of the Cincinnati Cincinnati faithful however fate had other plans the morning of the Game Pete found out that the pitcher the cubs were planning on playing got injured instead the right handed pitcher Reggie Patterson would be taking the mound when Pete heard the news he practically we started salivating. He had scored a single off Patterson only two days earlier although he had hoped to break Cobb's record while at home he couldn't risk not not playing at his age every game counted so he put himself into the lineup in his first. I Bat Pete hammered another single off of Patterson he was one hit away from matching ty Cobb's fifty seven year old record occurred of four thousand one hundred ninety one hits with more than twenty eight thousand fans looking on and countless more tuned in on their TV's TV's and Radios Pete came up to bat again in the fifth inning as he stepped up to the plate. The normally hostile Chicago crowd rose to its feet and cheered. It didn't matter that Pete had given them so much heartbreak over the years. They wanted to witness history but pitcher Reggie Reggie Patterson didn't want to be a footnote in Pete Story on his first Pitch Patterson through a heat seeking missile straight into the CATCHER's commit strike one the second pitch also evaded Pete's bat strike to the crowd held. It's breath as Patterson wound ended up for the third time the pitch hit the dirt ball won the next two were similarly wild all of a sudden the count was full at three and to the crowd new the significance of the next pitch they turned on their own player Booing Patterson and as he ready to throw Patterson's final pitch was a screwball meaning it moved down in in towards Pete it was one of the most is challenging pitches to hit in baseball but not for Pete he perfectly Red Patterson subtle wrist movements that gave the pitch away and and smacked the ball into right field when Pete arrived at first base the crowd went wild ty Cobb was no longer alone on the mountain top where he had stood since nineteen twenty eight the question now was whether they'd get to see Pete climbed past him even though the reds owner had personally called him in the Dugout to Beg Pete to save the record for a home game he refused used to call it quits whether it was in baseball or gambling Pete only knew one speed full throttle despite the pressure from from his boss he went up to bat two more times while he didn't end up getting the record breaking hit. It wasn't for lack of trying after the game the press lauded Pete for his unbending integrity just as much as they did for tying the hits record here was a man who refused to put his own interests. I ahead of the game of baseball. He was a shining example to the sport. A man worthy of his place amongst greats little did they know he was also committing a cardinal sin against the game of baseball but for the moment all all anyone knew was that pete needed just one more hit to become the one and only hit king three days later on September eleventh nineteen eighty five he finally did it. It was a picture perfect late summer evening. Eh nearly fifty thousand rabid fans had come to the stadium to see one thing and one thing only to see pete rose break aac ty Cobb's record. They got their chance. When Pete came to the plate in the first inning facing San Diego Padres pitcher Eric Chow Chow Pete rose easily knocked the ball into left center field the standing ovation from the crowd lasted for nearly ten minutes minutes his teammates mobbed him he had achieved the impossible it had taken over two decades of averaging over three hundred with elite play an unrelenting desire but he had done it he had passed ty Cobb as his teammates return to the dugout? Pete shared a tender hug with his teenage son Pete Rose Junior. It was a perfect moment an enduring image that would define pete rose's life or at least it would have if he had decided to quit the game of baseball after that season if he had decided to retire are his legacy would have been secure and nobody would have ever found out about his bedding practices but Pete loved the game too much to leave of it. Even as he approached his forty fifth birthday. He was confident that he still had something left in the tank. Baseball was his life and he wasn't wasn't ready to hang it up just yet even though peed had secured one of the most sacred records in the sport nothing had changed for them. Aw that included his gambling he was pete rose a living legend. Nobody could touch him or so. He thought coming up Pete gets caught red handed now back to the story. After forty four year old Pete rose became the new baseball hit king in the nineteen eighty five season. He decided to come back for another year. As the Cincinnati Reds player manager he also decided to take his underground betting activities to another level as nineteen eighty five bled into nineteen eighty six pete's gambling activities intensified to the tune of approximately fifteen eighteen thousand dollars worth of bets per day even with Wealth Pete at accumulated in his two decade career. It was a lot out of money too much money to cover his growing debts. Pete was forced to sell off some of his most treasured memorabilia including including his World Series Rings and the Bat He'd used break ty Cobb's record only months before these items represented his greatest. It is professional triumphs but pete was willing to let them go long as he could keep gambling. Even though these sales were conducted got to quietly with private buyers they didn't go unnoticed within the baseball community they were of particular interest to Kevin Jalan Major League Baseball's new head of security ahead of the eighty-six season. MLB Commissioner Peter ueberroth hired Talon to be the league's new head of Security Ueberroth liked Helen's background is the commander of an FBI NYPD anti-terrorism terrorism task force. He wanted Hallinan to tighten the ship so to speak regarding everything under the security umbrella that included access to the players clubhouse before Jalan took over there is almost no control over who is coming and going from the clubhouse logistically speaking. This lack of control represented a security threat if someone wanted to hurt one of the players it was almost too easy to get access is to them. One of the first things Hallinan did upon becoming head of security was to make sure there was someone standing guard at the clubhouse entrances to sign people all in out by random chance as Jalan toward stadiums throughout the season he frequently ended up being in town the same day the Cincinnati Reds in his efforts to curtail access to the players clubhouse Pete's entourage was particularly egregious in terms of how they seem to have free rein over the stadium as a former. NYPD Lieutenant Helena new and underground betting operation when he saw one he also heard about Pete's recent memorabilia sales and Helen's experience people like Pete Rose only needed that kind of cash for one reason to cover debts so he decided to dig a little deeper into peach activities with commissioner Ueberroth Permission Helen in had Joe Daley an ex FBI colleague who operated out of Cincinnati put out some feelers raise through daily. Helen was able to find out about the shady operations going on in the Gold's gym heat frequented although although he wasn't able to get any concrete proof daily heard a lot of whispers that Pete was betting on Baseball Helen and decided the best course of action would be to conduct a quiet investigation into Pete's gambling practices the whole time Helen's investigation was ongoing Pete had no idea he was under any sort of scrutiny he continued to bet on baseball including games games involving the reds. We never bet for them to lose but that didn't change the fact that he was completely violating rule twenty one won once the nineteen eighty six season ended. He decided he was finally ready to stop playing baseball. After collecting a grand total of four four thousand two hundred and fifty six hits he felt like it was time for him to transition into working solely as the reds manager but even though Oh he was no longer playing for the team that didn't mean Pete was in the clear rule twenty-one clearly prohibited any team employees from betting on on Baseball Games and that included the manager over the next two seasons while Pete managed the reds Helen daily continued their investigation while they were still short on proof they had heard enough rumors to suspect Pete violating rule twenty one in February wary of nineteen eighty nine about a month before the season was set to begin Pete was summoned to the MLB headquarters in New York. He had no idea idea he was walking into an ambush as he entered commissioner. Peter Ueberroth Office Pete was greeted did by the grim faces of Uber Off Incoming Baseball Commissioner Bart Giamatti and his deputy Fay Vincent they asked him point blank. Thank you bet on Baseball Pete admitted that he bet on other sports but categorically denied that he had ever wagered on a baseball game game he insisted he would never be that stupid. The three men had every reason to not push the matter any further although Hallinan had had heard rumors that Pete had bet on baseball he didn't have any real proof and that was good enough for you broth and GM Mati in addition to being being a steward of the game the Commissioner of baseball also answered to the owners and that meant taking the bottom line in the consideration Pete was one of the greatest players of all time is relentless drive and passion for the game made him one of the sport's most popular stars financially it made sense to cast him out of the League but Deputy Commissioner Fay Vincent was a man of unbending principle. He felt that their responsibility he was to make sure the integrity of baseball superseded any financial obligations. You've Pete was betting on Baseball Games that meant he was spitting in the face of one of America's noblest institutions. They couldn't go easy on him. Just because of his status Vincent's passionate case of integrity over money honey one over Ueberroth Giamatti they resolved open an independent investigation into Pete's gambling habits Vincent's recommendation attorney. John Dowd was chosen to conduct the inquiry as a no nonsense attorney so you with an aptitude for big cases dowd was the perfect choice he'd leave no stone unturned in his pursuit of the Truth Investigation Gatien officially began on March Sixth Nineteen Eighty nine upon arriving in Cincinnati Dowd was certain he had a long road ahead of him and not only was a local hero but getting his associates to reveal their own roles in the enterprise was a big ask underground around rings ran on loyalty and trust if these men were willing to betray Pete rose of all people for the rest of their clients might leave leave them however nearly the moment dowd set foot in the city. The men involved in Pete's betting circles ratted him out during Kevin Evan Helen's more discreet questioning. Nobody had turned on Pete but by March one thousand nine hundred nine he owed too much money to too many people. Oh if they weren't going to get their money back they were willing to get payback in a different way. The first one to betray Pete was Paul Paul Janssen a steroid dealer Gold's gym would place bats on Pete's behalf in the spring of Nineteen eighty-seven Jansen was so eager to help make wagers with a bookie Ron Peters that he even paid around forty thousand dollars out of his own pocket to do it. The expectation was that Pete would pay him back later but peed had racked up another thirty four thousand dollars in gambling debts with Ron Peters at the end of the summer of eighty seven and Peter's refuse to pay out forty thousand dollars Pete had one claiming it as payment with interest for the money Pete still owed him that refusal had an unintended ripple effect on Paul Johnson who was still in the whole for the money he had used on behalf but pete reportedly refused to fully repay him this betrayal Stung Jansen to his core Janssen heard about John Dowd's investigation when he was all too happy to turn on his friend in addition to his own notebook in which he meticulously tracked every wager he placed Janssen provided what he claimed repeats own records of the bets dowd had them analyzed by a handwriting writing expert who concluded the Janssen was telling the truth after Janson came forward the bookie Ron Peters also decided to help with dowd's house investigation at the time of the investigation peters was awaiting sentencing on cocaine trafficking and falsifying tax returns. Even though the doubt investigation was independent of the Justice Department. Perhaps he thought he might get a lighter sentence for cooperating in addition to providing the copy of the thirty four thousand dollar check Pete had given him Peter's turned over his own betting records these records confirm the bets that Pete had placed laced via Johnson and that many of these wagers were on baseball games as news from the investigation leaked to the press pete vehemently humanly denied he had ever bet on baseball games even with over a dozen witnesses saying otherwise and the evidence to back them up Pete refuse to admit what he had done. When the nineteen eighty nine season began in early April Pete Rose had gone from beloved hero to despise villain with the exception of Pete's loyal home fans everywhere the reds went pete found himself relentlessly booed? It didn't matter how many records he had he had betrayed the game itself wants dowd had gathered his evidence. He called Pete in for a deposition in late April nineteen eighty nine with so much publicity surrounding the investigation allegation they had to find a quiet discreet place to meet away from the scrutiny of the press instead of meeting in Pete's office or at the New York Doc. MLB Headquarters Pete Rose and John Dowd sat down across from each other in the school cafeteria. The Small Catholic school in Cincinnati natty over the course of two days of questioning Pete steadfastly denied that he had ever bet on a major league baseball game even when Dowd showed Pete the betting slips journal entries in phone records that served as evidence against him even when he he played a phone call Paul Johnson had recorded with another one of Pete's associates about the debt zeroed Pete still refused to yield but dowd dowd didn't need Pete to admit to betting on baseball he had all the evidence he required and nothing Pete said contradicted the proof doubt how had collected he was ready to move forward with his findings only two months after beginning his investigation on May ninth nineteen eighty nine dowd provided the newly minted. MLB Commissioner Bart Giamatti with his report it spanned roughly two hundred and twenty five pages along with nine volumes of unedited supporting evidence dowd had shown that Pete had clearly bad on Major League Baseball Games now now it was up to GM Mahdi to punish him. Although G Amati was a fan of Pete as a player. He didn't like how Pete it was refusing to own up to what he had done. If Pete had admitted his mistakes maybe there would have been room for mercy but if he wasn't gonNA come in clean he would be subjected to the full brunt of rule twenty one permanent ineligibility to determine Pete's fate Timoti set a hearing for May Twenty Fifth Nineteen eighty-nine However repeat wasn't going to take his punishment lying down. If he managed to escape permanent ban he could emerge his reputation relatively intact according to an informal poll conducted by the Los Angeles Times many the journalists who voted on hall of fame inductions would still put them on their ballots just as long as he never bet against the reds he and his legal team scrambled for any way to fight against commissioner G Ahmadis wrath and managed to get the hearing pushed back a month. Even with the extra time time Pete had no real recourse he wouldn't admit it but the fact was that he had bet on baseball there was simply no disputing muting the evidence against him so instead of going after the evidence Pete decided to go after Giamatti claiming the commissioner was never going to give him a fair hearing Pete filed the lawsuit in Cincinnati where a friendly judge agreed to enact a temporary temporary restraining order to delay the hearing but pete wasn't the only one who can make moves within the legal system in response to the temporary cold Giamatti had the case moved to a federal court outside the local jurisdiction of Cincinnati realizing his chance of having a sympathetic judge was much lower in this new setting Pete agreed to enter settlement discussions in early August nineteen eighty nine. The negotiations were short with no real leverage. All Pete could get out of Giamatti was that he didn't have to admit or deny to betting on baseball baseball. It was meaningless concession. He was still found in violation of rule twenty one. The agreement was signed the morning of August twenty twenty third nineteen eighty-nine Pete Rose one of the best to ever swing the bat was officially out of the game of baseball coming up Pete Finds Life Without baseball even more difficult than he had imagined and now back to the story on August twenty third nineteen eighty nine forty eight year old Pete rose was placed on major league baseball's balls permanent ineligible list for betting on Baseball Games while he was employed by the Cincinnati reds however there was still a sliver of hope for Pete per the League's rules he'd be allowed to reapply for reinstatement in one year's time it was an option. He fully really planned on exercising. Unfortunately there were more repercussions from his gambling habits still come with Pete's bedding woes firmly we in the national spotlight the irs decided to take a closer look at his finances on April Twentieth Twentieth Nineteen Ninety Pete pleaded guilty to two counts of filing fraudulent tax returns from nineteen eighty four to nineteen eighty seven he had had failed to disclose close to three hundred fifty thousand dollars in autograph and Memorabilia sales the equivalent of nearly seven hundred fifty thousand dollars in today's money most likely that money had gone to paying off his significant gambling debts the judge sentenced him to five months in a minimum security security prison with a further three months in a halfway house upon his release additionally he slapped Pete with fifty thousand dollar fine and one one thousand hours of community service in the end. It was a fairly light punishment. If he'd had been punished to the full extent of the law he could have faced up to six years in prison but in this instance his honesty in cooperation helped him get a lighter punishment. Perhaps he had learned a lesson lesson from his hard headed approach to the doubt investigation Pete reported to the Minimum Security Facility in Marion Illinois on August Eighth Nineteen Ninety Ninety he had traded in his reds number fourteen for prisoner number zero one eight three two zero six one the day he was incarcerated Pete was two weeks shy of being able to apply for reinstatement to the MLB. He didn't bother filing an application Fay Vincent had assumed the role of baseball commissioner after Bart Giamatti died in September nineteen eighty-nine. There was no way the incredibly principal commissioner would ever reinstate Pete while he was imprisoned in an ironic twist of fate the reds Ed's reached the world series while Pete was incarcerated he wanted nothing more than to be in the dug-out alongside his former players instead he was forced to watch the Games on TV alongside his fellow inmates. When the reds won the championship in a clean sweep many of Pete's former players were quick to thank their former manager regardless of what he had done Pete had laid the foundations of a great team and they would never forget it as the other prisoners cheered high-fived him pete felt mix of pride and sadness it would have loved to be part of the Action Pete was released from Marian on January seventh nineteen ninety one by all accounts accounts he had been a model inmate even though he had a long road ahead of him in his fight to get reinstated to the LB he still had something to look forward to getting enshrined in the Baseball Hall of fame in Cooperstown New York the debate over whether or not pete should be voted in had begun gone the moment he was found in violation of rule twenty? One Pete was confident in his chances overall. The selection process was extremely democratic when it was established in nineteen thirty six. It's founders had a vision that the players who were chosen would reflect the sentiments it's of baseball fans in general to that end. The voting process was entrusted to the Baseball Writers Association of America or B B W A A in order to qualify a player must have appeared in at least ten. Mlb Seasons and five years must have passed since he last played in a game then if a player appeared on more than seventy five percent of voters ballots he would be selected for induction since Pete had never played in the nineteen nineteen eighty-seven season he would have been eligible to appear on ballots when voting began in late nineteen ninety one and if he was only being judged by his career achievements he would have been a shoo-in at the time there was no rule against an ineligible player or manager being voted into the hall of fame name but three days after pete got out of prison a special committee created by the Hall of Fame Board of Directors voted to make one colloquially known as the rose rule. This motion went against the intentions behind the hall of fame voting process. Yes Pete had betrayed the game of baseball but it wasn't up to the committee to decide whether his betting had outweighed his performance on the field however over the B. B. W. A. was powerless to do anything to change the rule unless it was amended to allow Pete to be voted in the only way away he could get inducted would be for the Commissioner to revoke his ineligibility and that wouldn't be happening anytime soon. Pete continued into steadfastly denied that he had ever bet on baseball. Even though the evidence against him was staggering unless he made a serious attempt to right right his wrongs Pete would remain on the outside looking in being cast out of baseball deprived speed of more than his eligibility within the League deprived him of experiencing one of the most important moments of son's life in September Nineteen Ninety Ninety seven twenty seven year old Pete Rose Junior was finally called up from the minor leagues to play for the Cincinnati reds although he was a talented talented player in his own right junior lacked the same spark that made his old man so special but Pete Signature Hustle ran in the family despite his talent deficit Pete Junior who is still known in baseball circles as PD had refused to give up his big league dreams and after toiling oiling in the minor leagues for nine full years PD was finally getting his shot hit the big show although his major league career lasted only eleven eleven games PD could claim something his father never could he got hit in his first contest and while Pete was watching from the stands dance and shared a hug with his son outside the players tunnel he wasn't allowed to partake in the hallowed tradition of celebrating with his son in the Locker Kurram all because he had bet on baseball games but with the good feelings around PD's MLB debut a Byu Pete decided to apply for reinstatement in late September nineteen ninety seven however commissioner Bud Seelig never even officially considered it heat still refuse to admit to betting on baseball until he did he'd never have a shot at reinstatement almost seven years past with Pete remaining steadfast in his denials but with each passing day his chances of getting inducted into the hall of Fame Reg- winding the limit for eligibility was twenty years after a players last game for pete that would be in two thousand six if he wanted to get reinstated and therefore regain eligibility he would need to take drastic action shen in January two thousand four Pete appeared on Good Morning America and finally admitted to what everyone already knew he she had bet on baseball and you could read all about it in his new book my prison without bars. If Pete was expecting to to be praised for his admission he would be sorely disappointed. The timing was considered extremely suspect. His revelation was seen more more is a PR move than a genuine apology regardless of what Pete's intentions were his confession wasn't enough to get him reinstated had admitting what he had done was a good first step but he hadn't done anything to truly show he was sorry for what he had done but as the years passed the MLB started to loosen Pete's shackles on the night of September eleventh two thousand ten the League permitted the reds to honor Pete on the field for the twenty fifth anniversary of his record breaking hit after the ceremony there was a dinner held in Pete's honor at the Hollywood would casino in nearby Lawrenceburg Indiana sitting amongst his old teammates flooded with installed for days gone by something must have broken compete when he took to the podium to give a speech he broke down and cried looking out at the crowd out of Diners Pete acknowledged that he finally realized what Bart Giamatti had meant when he told Pete He'd have to reconfigure his life if he hoped to get reinstated he acknowledged that he had disrespected the game of baseball speaking to his former teammates rose said I'm a hard hard headed guy but I'm a lot better guy standing here tonight. I guarantee everyone in this room. I will never disrespect you again. I love the fans I love the game of baseball. I Love Cincinnati Baseball this time. It seemed like Pete's apology was genuine. There was no deadline for reinstatement coming up no ulterior motive it appeared that he truly regretted what what he had done. However Commissioner Seelig never made a decision on pizza eligiblity and despite Pete's two thousand ten apology the new commissioner Rob Manfred didn't believe that he had shown adequate remorse or adjustment of lifestyle he denied pete application but Manfred did give the reds permission to celebrate pizza on field legacy in two thousand Sixteen Pete was inducted did into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of fame and had his famous number Fourteen Jersey officially retired additionally a statue of Pete launching into his iconic headfirst slide was installed in front of the Reds Stadium as of two thousand Nineteen Pete Rose is still on the ineligible list and remains barred from being inducted into the MLB Hall of fame but the controversy swirling swirling around him continues to make headlines especially with the revelations about the rampant steroid use that plagued baseball in the nineteen nineties and two two thousand the question of how much damage Pete did to the game has been re framed although notorious steroid users like barry bonds and Sammy me Sosa have not been inducted into the hall of fame they are still eligible? An argument can be made that what Pete did was less detrimental to baseball all the action steroid users took to enhance themselves according to he never bet against the reds. He only bet on them to win. There's so that means he never made any decisions that would cause the reds to lose and there's no evidence to prove lying however that doesn't mean his betting interests didn't interfere with his duties as the reds manager. Although he wasn't doing anything to impact his team's chances of winning Pete could could have put his short term goals of winning that night's bet over the long term goals of the season now seventy eight years old hello pete claims in interviews that he is long past caring whether he makes it into the hall of fame or not. He's a regular presence in cooperstown during induction and weekends gladly selling his autograph. If you ask him he'll right. I'm sorry I bet on baseball and maybe truly means it. I mean, kind of goes I said it would be close till the seventh inning in the Red Sox blow it open. That's exactly what they did game. One bus. Outscore the genius, gene. I mean, you get water Nunez in that game. And we were making fun of him. Just even moving in the please just starting to come into this game. There's a one old knuckle curve swats it over the green monster three run home run. It was a one one ball game at the time. Or the business to a perfect game as possible for full season never seen anything like it. That's why I'm almost confident. If you're Palmer has makes it into the series either. But I guess he told me as a night before too. Like, hey, we're gonna call RAFI late and you're coming in value. Like, I feel like Farrell honoring my bench. But yeah, I mean, I Selden look great. You didn't have as best. You didn't have ended up committed the fastball or the change ups, but still got the job done. Strike outs for the dodgers weren't be full by him. But the biggest story, and we do this every season on the Red Sox Kershaw for a guy who claims in people. I don't equate that baseball poet. I said he doesn't claim it. But baseball pundits say he's one of the greatest pitchers of all time consistently federally yet, which is better than Pedro. I've heard better than briny Johns. I mean generation strong, regardless of the phrase, it the fact that he lays eggs, and by the way, if you four runs with guys the pitcher the generation that should be it should be knowing but fibers. They say the dodgers store for should be off went down. No, they are five spot on Clayton Kershaw. I never been more. Right. Anything than him being on big game pitcher can handle it can in the light. Something about him. You just doesn't use it it. What was I saying Ted dog? He is he's h. I like him as a person, I think, he's a fundraising legacy. You have something scheduled cursor. Rocking back like the analogy traits. I liked him as a human but on his to say postseason dead dog. Is there any other like, choke that you also say that other finals that my show side on like that? But Chris whoever's on Rondo put them in the fucking hole in his face. Any other choke artists that I liked Peyton not hated Beijing. But he was a rival when Kirk that's part of it. I was never what glacier. Time. Did you go to sleep? Anyways. Again today, they live podcast rotted proud. Oh, yeah. Crowd is always crowded. I guess there was some guy behind us. People didn't care for much. I didn't split we have when we have the headphones and here, we're. There were people making out behind us. There was a girl that shoots all over the floor. Yeah. Directly. We'd never having Landsdowne pub grade host, but we're having a little issues that the GM who I found out wanted to turn the white sauce because like people can't see the screen. I was ready. I told Frankie he told me after I would've been like a you. You'll fire. Doing work like, you're fired. I just fired. Got stick yet. Hey, hey, guess what? Fifteen percent offer three shipping. Free returns, M B M T dot com. Now, the only bigger losers right now than the maybe the dodgers and Rick Honeycutt. Yeah. That was a wild stance. Route Honeycutt complaining that the bullpens are too close in the crowd in the Fenway Kraus's get into the soft dodgers marshmallows thought. He also said he was upset that we're taunting Kershaw the deaden dog. I don't get it for money honeycomb is major leaguer down every stadium. Acting like is the first time he's ever heard a crowd. I mean, come on and they built for fucking Ted Williams. He looks like quote, right? Yeah. That way there's no way he's upset that. The training Kershaw curve us more upset that when Kershaw was warming up before the game that the Fenway crowd is like basically on top of him. And it was a stuff that they're streaming at him in the bullpen warm TV though, like when he was like doing running Droz and stuff. It was all dodge. All right there. Right. Yeah. Oh hundred dollars. Well, I like Hanks doesn't seem like somebody rubs in like private or like, I make it a law. I make it a law these, but I think that's all hangs on his patio. Slinging dick, Tommy Hanks. Find that weird. Yeah. But I think the private thing. I mean, the number one thing. Anyone's face, though, people say. This is one of those ideas that just got my head, by the way, I'm like oh Kowloon doing rundown. Yeah. I do this more often. So we weren't. So we go we made me think of eating way too much before we started filming third player. I know also to like well. I'll put it in there. And then I heard another one I already got when well someone else. So we just far too much. But that's fine. That's fine. It's a celebratory. This is the good thing about the Red Sox so much better. It's like a celebration World Series. We're looking at cheered ideas. We're having these big meals every day. It's like every day we clinched everyday. And as more of like, a celebration of the city to of the merchant we're doing for the Red Sox. We incorporate the patriots the Bruins and Celtics into this is it's a celebration of Boston. How good is it really is hitting all the high spots it. No, no city. No team. No fan base is ever countered. Their chickens before they had and still had them hatch. Yeah. Waiting for the chickens and having parties, but they're coming chickens hatching, that's the rundown. Pointed out, I feel like we all just maybe it speaks to where we are. But you said it we're all together. Red Sox have won thirteen other last fifteen World Series team ever done that. I don't know. I saw last night. I don't know if there was like a best since nineteen whatever fuck, but I can't imagine that. I don't think anybody's ever had that running the Yankees. I have participation Joe to win win thirty out of fifteen World Series games. No chance they've just been there. So they weren't sweeping the never sweet. What is this? If this ends has two losses two hundred teams that don't even done that. Don't even done that one one game each of you can make cases dominance scenes of all time. Last night also triggers retraining extrapolated, ours dominant, run any city as had over two decades and history. It was on. And now, you know, the Roman empire lost, blah, blah. When I do the test. You know? Yeah. I was in thousands of years, right? Great great. We have a better chance of hit by an asteroid before the end of this. What would you mean doing right now if it wasn't for this this run in Boston sports championships? I mean Barsha was built on this day, Fordham when exist as we know it today, correct? I know. Where would you be? Dave. Yeah. Yeah. I really don't know someone asks that there was actually talking about the sports. Business reporter had. Carsoup sports was founded when all this started would it exist without the Boston's classic chicken in the egg. Because like would the Boston success happened with varsity sports, I like that line out? It's like I brought the positivity in a. The city has never seen. It was all the miserable sees Borjas. And I said, no. We're gonna come man success and also nothing less, and that's what's happening. So it is classic chicken. The and now we're at the Kowloon Chevron face. This bad. For nine hours. Pizzas, electric, literature. All this. Chairs, but it's worth really? I mean, any chair you sit him from three o'clock, the midnight eventually gonna get you just. Ninety or worse than say something like this with that. Yeah. But I need a back of my chair to be. Ability or something. That'd be around. Yeah. All right. That's the rundown. Cheers tonight. How Lune Saugus anymore? David price price. David price can't lose go to the fact that I know do probably gonna win and winning big again nuts. Chickens. I mean this game as will play what what what time to be alive rundown. That's really what it is.

We did memories of Riverfront Stadium last night and a caller mentioned Gus Mager tournaments on. On the Riverfront Plaza, he said I John. Brennan wanted one that goes Mecca tournament with his team Lo. And behold I sent John Tex last night, and he said man. I was a deep dive on research. You're right, so I, said you gotta come on tonight and talk about that Gus, macro tournament back in the day in the Riverfront Plaza, so he will do that eight o'clock hour. It is unofficially. I declare how King Day in. In Cincinnati in honor of the one of the most significant impactful homers in reds history, we will put together a list of and perhaps rank the most significant and impactful homers in reds, history, all of that between now and nine o'clock. Let's begin here where our first guest teamed up with Larry Phillips, for a fascinating read in Cincinnati magazine. That is out today. It's a it's a prequel story a story. Nobody's heard at least in A. A long long long time, and never in this form, and it changes everything you knew or thought you knew about the origins of baseball in Cincinnati. WHO Better to turn to for that discussion? Then friend of the show John, or how are you lance? I'm great. How are you? I'm well great to hear voice that means we're talking baseball so explain this your baseball and Cincinnati eleven years before the original eighteen sixty nine red stockings. Yeah, it's pretty cool. It is definitely a frequent story. We got the idea from our book about the eighteen sixty nine red sackings that I did with Gregg Gauges Greg Roads and I found out really too late in that research that. Baseball I had really begun here a little sooner than I thought, and interestingly, even though it began leaking fifty eight, which was the. Underground railroad and Cincinnati, but then really re until after the civil war and people got more exposed to the game. You know in the civil war camp, so it was fascinating to me just because there was a guy named bombed back. Who is Great Tombaugh player? Eighteen, fifty eight later played baseball would've met Harry Reid and and a couple of guys from Jersey where he was from became the Cincinnati at age eleven. Is You all your? Your listeners know that's just a great age to start following baseball. And when they got the rules of eighteen, fifty eight, which by the way we brand new rules out New New York City ninety feet between the basis that was the first time and rule came out of course. Three nine players didn't all, but they decided. Let's try this game. Let's go out to the east side now again i. hope the West siders sitting down because. They fall begin on. The East side began near. What is now Saint Francis to sales church at the corner of Madison and Hack, Berry and he's Walnut Hill. So it all brand new or shaking stuff because I think in Cincinnati? We care about this stuff just because it's a home professional baseball. We always get the own games. Start the season and he gotTA. Know your history, so let's rewrite it a little bit. Let's get it right and. You know. Let's talking about no doubt about it. So four games played in July and August of eighteen fifty aid. What happened after that? You know what I think happened, was it? This is true for a lot of cities. You know some places where Baseball Cities Louisville is a big baseball city, but Cincinnati was tombaugh city little different game. Shorter basis, more players, but I think the reason. It never caught on here again until after the civil war, it's just because the tombaugh was so entrenched it was. There were club formed was like a social thing, and it just became the game now the worst some cricket. Cricket Player, which was English gang. We all know I think that baseball Tida emerged from Combo plays cricket, so there was a cricket field out there. In East Walnut hills which they adapted into a baseball field, and they got some combos together, so cricket players together and just had a ball. It was a body I think about a mile and half right out there on a horse car. went right through eastern part of Cincinnati and up is now reading road out the East Walnut Hills and They just had a grand old time and I I think this guy bombs back is so important is because he was the captain of his tombaugh teaming for him. He was from Jersey. So that's where they're playing baseball and he wanted to try this game so I think he had to be a ringleader in the four games were played and It drew some crowds, but again it just didn't catch Senate. Don't you know I really don't know why and catch on? It's like well. Why couldn't this feature national pastime if caught on here earlier than it did, and we really don't know but the interesting thing to me is. They tried it and again these rules came out only in March of eighteen, sixty eight, and by July of eighteen fifty, they were playing four, really three or four, really key all star Games. The New York City Between York City in Brooklyn, which was its own. City back then and I think what a week or two later they were playing baseball here until it. Just it just shows you how it was a national game with national scope and some places. There's just glommed onto another ones. It took a while, but again the civil war was so key because they're playing. The Games Both the Union camps in the considered camps center I think it's just an interesting story, both for the sake of the underground railroad win of course There's so much the news now about the racial protests and unrest, and it's just a great story because. I gotta say I'm so proud of the city land for having the national underground. Railroad, Freedom Center here and in eighteen fifty eight. It was full blown man every other day. There was this story since they newspapers about. Future, the fugitive slaves, coming up from the south, escaping through Cincinnati on the way to Canada, and even though they had the fugitive slave act, which made it a federal crime to harbor, and take in a a slave, and and move into Canada. People were doing it. They had guts. By and again credit to Cincinnati for being willing to go and do that kind of thing, it's just a wonderful I think blend of ball and the underground railroad again lance. This was a two. Mile Square Area Cincinnati in the basin, the most congested two Mile Square area in the country after Manhattan. Hundred thousand people. Seven hundred and fifty grocery stores and hundred fifty bakeries, and even more bars than either one of those people who were just jammed together, but living together and I'm not GonNa pay to fix it because the year after. Eighteen fifty eight there was a fugitive played newspaper here which was published, and they got into a lot of trouble. There was a mob scene with the mob. Crests and the our river, so it wasn't like everything was beautiful, but again keep in mind. The folks were living side by side, and we got a map that shows exactly who lived where among the militias and among the baseball players, so you can see. Cincinnati was a half and played. Fifty giardi check it in. He's teamed up with Larry. Phillips for an just an outstanding read in Cincinnati magazine. The boys of summer eighteen, fifty eight. Don't recall I i. certainly have heard of the Gusman three on three basketball tournament. It's a nationwide tournaments like. I tournament, which started back in Nineteen, seventy, four in low Michigan by eighty seven, it expanded beyond a single tournament to a national tournament, and they have since played nine hundred and seventy two tournaments, involving two point, two million players between the ages of seven and fifty, according to the website in fact in their tournament. Three hours from here northeast of Columbus, but our next guest I was told last night. My twitter follower Bryant hop steady man. My Riverfront memories are the Gus Mac or three on three basketball tournament on the Riverfront Stadium Plaza and he said I think. John Brandon played on a winning team in that and I said wait a minute. I got to know more about that, so let's welcome in the man who played in that tournament, and by all accounts he won that tournament. He is the coach of the UC. bearcats John Brennan, how are you? Lance my apologies. For dinner cruising thing they do. They really getting away. Not only that you have to do that zoom thing and it's just a whole new world I tell you what? You Go. Take me back because I am so excited to hear the story behind this. At what time what time in your life? How old and what were you doing at the time? You wound up playing in the GUS MAC or three on three? Gosh say woodland mother Emery. Almost went back and try to remember the rules. Because I. I know the listeners out. There are gonNA. Call me out I'm going to be wrong here but I think it was ninety nine one which made me about. Seventeen years old, sixteen seventeen and you know the gus macrey went across the country. Yeah, they put it up the hoops on the plaza outside riverfront, and it was just slammed with bodies and basketball's going everywhere. It was three on three. For us. He wants to try to win, so we got most competitive team. We can put together with fourteen guys on the team and. I I it was it was. It was not for the faint hearts. You remember that. Was it. Your team was made up of friends, did you? Did you know? How is the team put together? Yeah so it was definitely friends, but it was friends that play basketball, so let's. You know we we have. We have a role in our program that I I love I love. I love the men of famous basketball, but if I tell you the ones I, love the most I would start my twin daughters. So that was the same philosophy last that we have with the three on three Gus Makati so we. It was friends, but it was friends. It could play basketball, so it was It was competitive. I mean it was a lot of house. Maybe a few fights might have been a few escorts out of the area, so it was, it was pretty. It was pretty fun. I understand the. Legitimate officials was just like regular people officiating the Games. Yeah! It'd be like a guy that you know you play. Pick up with it. You know couldn't get in the run. The basket. With a striped shirt on, and he would just point at the foul. and. I'm telling you man. It was it was physical. Let it go, they wouldn't go that. That's for sure. Creative. Did you enter this just that one year or multiple years? We ended ball full years I believe believe it was multiple years, and what would happen is and I. Think when people put on twitter like if you're on the side towards the river. Block the shot. In a inevitably lance, you could look over until like five or six. Basketball's going down the river. Was Intense. Do you happen. This'll test your memory. Do you happen in your team name? I have no, idea. I thought I'd take a show with. The only thing I remember Lance is we won. We won the championship. Now there may be unconfirmed reports that you may have singlehandedly. The game winning shot is true. You know that that's actually accurate. So what happened? This is one thing I do remember it was. It was getting really chipping, and it was one of those ones where it was okay. Game was all played game. Point Right, yeah! Nothing's easy on game point, so it was getting really tough, so I drove left. Pola jump right if it went in Iran off, I just ran I left. I promise you. I ran right down the plaza there and somebody else grabbed the trophy. Promise you. Larry Bird running off. It's over we've won. I. If I close my eyes. I'm picturing like a young John Brennan with like shorts and flowing hair, and maybe a cutoff. T shirt my close. Spot? Look like Shaggy Scooby Doo. That is fantastic. Hey, this was a blast I. I was so intrigued last night when the twitter follower had mentioned it and I said what the Heck I gotTa! Text and see if this is true I appreciate you making time around the much more important recruiting tonight to tell the story that GUS MAC or three on three. Well, it was great memories, and it was a fun time in the city and I wish they'd bring stuff like that back. It's brought everybody together around around around the game of basketball again. No kidding last night most importantly you in the family good. Great everybody's healthy going the right direction just excited to come out of this hopefully bigger and better than before and looking forward to getting not back together whenever that may actually have sounds good. Hey, semi best everybody. Thanks for the time. Thanks! Here there, you go John Brennan coach, the bearcats and winner long about eighteen, ninety or ninety, one of the gusts maker three on three basketball tournament on the plaza of Riverfront Stadium, and he hit the winning shot inches ran off. Bring the trophy later. We but I, just the visual of basketballs floating down the. River. Let me do this before the top of the hour when we get into our main topic if you listen to those stories, if you happen to have participated in that Gus, smacker three on three at some point on the Plaza Stadium and it's funny. Everybody I talked to last night. I I traded tech with the Chris Mack and Joe Frederick and Chris Mack played in Joe. Frederick did not, but I would just getting a sense of what it was like an all said that that. That played everybody I talked to even this morning at all yet. The officiating it wasn't real officials, and there were arguments, and there was pushing and shoving, and there were fights, and it was just in the the scene as John described, was chaos on the plaza of Riverfront, stadium back at that time for the Gus, Mager three three I. Guess, Here's my question. Why doesn't the Gus Macro Tournament come back here? When's the last time? It was here and I think there was also. Started a skinny Richard Skinner about this last night there was like another tournament like was it hoops for hope or some type of traveling basketball tournament that came here at at one point as well, but maybe August Macke or three on three line if you have a have. A story of basketballs floating down the Ohio, river five, three, seven, four, nine, seven, thousand, eight hundred. He says I'm so sorry, did he was he actually called in a? A minute or so later than are scheduled time no big deal, but he says I'm so sorry. I was on the phone with a recruit and couldn't get off and I'm John You're recruiting UC fans listening right now. What we lost, we might lose a recruit. Because he hung up, ought to talk. No, he did not, he didn't do that. He finish up the call, and then he called me. Let's. Let's work on a couple of calls and this macro. Thing I I love stuff like I love learning about things I wasn't here for in and don't know any of the stories by and I love the idea of A. Locks flowing John Brandon in short shorts with a cutoff. T shirt of the plaza of riverfront. Stadium, hitting the game, winning shot and running off the court as basketball's float down the river. That is that's gold. Let's go to the phones in Loveland Oh bill. Lance, how are you I'm well welcome to the show. Thank you. I played. In a macro tournament nearly ninety I was like thirty six thirty seven years old, the youngest guy in our team. Yes Yup and On your reform, you had to put your level of. Ball. Clay. And we, we had a guy in our team play. Xavier College basketball. The other three guys all take college football, so we were all pretty good athletes. We thought we'd have a pretty good pretty good shot at it. But I think are our Zieger. Guy Kinda put us in a higher level because. Based on. But they had a two point one point game one point per basket. You play to like fifteen head. One by two did have a two point basket that was about twenty feet out, and we thought Walker shooters thought we could we could. Say outside hit three pointers. With the wind was blowing. You know constantly on that. Plaza levels. ENDED UP, being an inside game and it was. I mean it was bill and they did not have our level. They did not have routes. They had a guy. One Guy at court is called a dustbuster and he would just settle disputes, and you call your own salads and virtually every place. There's a file called. Call the. And I. Take to in order to get the ball up and into basket you. You had to guys hanging on. and. yeah, we play our first game where we went to about twenty. One Twenty three to twenty one and we were dead after just totally that we lost my second games out, tournament lost their second game. The next day WHO WANNA game lost our second game and we were like. Thank God. Brutal. We did at one time and decided to have. We're not GONNA do that again, but it was fun, but I think we've done a little bit better. Outside but excellent. So, glad you're listening. Thanks for the story. You. Have a great night I. Want the guys back or three and three coming back to town. I'm calling the GUS banker. People inside what's up? Get it back here. I think that would be cool. Springfield would go tommy seven hundred wliw. Pay. Yeah Yeah. Not Not the one thing I remember about real feisty. Him is hardest ball I ever saw. George Falter. For that black kick back. That he right also. Facing of the yellow say the club seats. And Alessio left center. That is all I ever saw in my life and he had a habit of doing that Tommy. Thank you for the phone call. Let's get back to the smacker stuff in Batavia Joe Seven hundred. wwl W welcome. Welcome thank you Lantos your story. Once they were down there, and Danny aines started off everybody's pack in front of the plaza, warming up. Whatever and you all got together. Go over the rules and stuff, so they couldn't start the tournament until Danny Age made the shop. amendment. What was daddy aims? Doing here is promoting the only snacker. So when you cross the bridges. Everybody met there after they warmed up. Everybody went over the rules. And he had to make. A three pointer starts tournament going. Nowhere. And they had a 'cause. We're all short. My friends are so. They had a six foot and under league. And you can get that apply in In the regular league with the college, kids and everybody else all right, but it was. It was always jam packed up their. Mansfield, they did it everywhere. All right excellent well I liked the Danny Aines Trivia know. Joe Thanks Buddy Dad's pretty crazy. And then if you won the loser's bracket, they call it the toilet bowl because I heard I heard that as Campaign. Excellent Hey joe thanks buddy. Great topic, thank you have a great night. It was fought. Bride hoffstetter gets credit. He tweeted about it last night and of the John Brandon Angle to all of it Finley. We go, Hey, judd. Hey Lance, are you? GotTa go smacker story. Yeah Excited about reds baseball anyway. Agus Mac or it I. Don't have a Riverfront Sword, but I did play a few times in earlier. Caller said they have them. They had them all over the place, and generally how it was set up. Usually some kind of a service club or civic organization would take a hold of it, and they would turn it into some kind of a community fundraiser. Kind of how that's kind of how you allow. Those places started with it. Sure that the issues with it was a lot of times. You would certainly have people that would I mean everyb- most of the help was all volunteer so sometimes you had court monitors that were that new stuff about basketball, and sometimes you didn't so that the disputes are I. It was real because I like everyone pretty much been saying it was brutal. I mean you call your own thousand obviously when? Most of the categories were in there, guys in their twenties and stuff like in obviously everyone's really competitive and Kinda got that way, so it was certainly It was certainly like that and then one of the. Times to not that not that make it a downer, but there would be a lot of issues with. people coming into town and then you'd have a extra police security needed and all that so a lot of times it just it would kind of run its course and I. Don't know if that was that way a riverfront, but yeah, usually the lifespan of gus back would be maybe two or three years, and then I don't know if that the town would just kinda get tired of it and all the stuff that goes with it so usually didn't see him. Go places very much longer than a few years Gajah. Hey, John Thanks Buddy! Yeah good. Thank you one hour and the books well, that was fun. Let's do this when we come back. We do on this date in reds history well on this date, one of the most significant home runs in impactful home runs in the history of the franchise which got me thinking about something. We've discussed over the years. The the list of and the ranking of the most significant and impactful home runs in reds, history I'll give you the candidates and explain what happened on this date. It was so significant as we turned the corner into the Eight o'clock hour, Arnelle carrier sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet seven hundred WWL W. The following takes place between eight PM nine PM. Let's keep rolling. What do you say eight Oh? Nine seven hundred wwl aren't l. sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet. I'm Lance McAlister. Jerry Jeff Walker is here what hour from now with? The nightcap? If you're just tuning in you, Miss John Already. Who's co-authored a piece in Cincinnati magazine. The kind of flips every upside down everything you thought you knew about baseball. In the city of Cincinnati in an actually beginning eleven years earlier in the tale behind Bat we heard from John Brian or one night after we did riverfront. Stadium Memories in the idea of the gusts, MAC or three on three tournaments was brought up in the thought that he may have played on a winning team. He checked in tonight and. Confirmed that in told US tales of the Gus, Mak or basketball tournament in this hour i. WanNa Begin. We'll do on this date. Reds history at the back end is always but I want to begin with something that. Comes from on this date in reds history. As I was putting the notes together this morning. I realized today was the anniversary and I thought well. I usually pull this out. Maybe once a year around one of the more significant moments attached to this since this is I declared this unofficially in the city of Cincinnati. How King Day now you have to be a old school. Connoisseur reds baseball to recognize the name how king how king spent a total of seven years in the major leagues. He spent parts of two seasons with the reds. He hit one eighty three in fifty five games with the reds he was. A catcher. Is the third string catcher for the reds luptak hitting Catcher, he four. He's career. He to fourteen in seven. Major League seasons. But on this day. He authored one of the most significant and clubbed one of the most significant home runs in reds history. nineteen seventy-three dodgers pitcher. Sutton was one strike away. From ending the game and dropping the REG twelve games out of first place. When sparky Anderson Pinch hit how king for Bill plummer. Brought in the left handed, hitting Catcher, and how king? And King proceeded to stun the dodgers and the crowded Riverfront Stadium with a pinch hit game winning home run in game one of a doubleheader that night. The, reds would win the NIGHTCAP in ten innings on Tony Perez two run double, and that night jumpstarted the reds, instead of going twelve games out. The red swept the double header and would go sixty and twenty six the rest of the season to win the National League West. In one of the most significant and impactful home runs in the hundred and fifty plus year history of reds, baseball. Here's my question. If we were putting together a list of the most significant. Slash impactful home runs in reds history. What would be on that list? And how would we order those home runs and rank those home? Now I have done the best I can do on the blog at seven hundred wwl wd calm I have twenty candidates. And those candidates are ones. Combination of I could think of. Look Up. And then find youtube video of. There are a number of them that I can't find on Youtube and I. Don't have him on the list. Let me give you? What I think would be our starting point for a top and by the way I've got one two, three, four, five six lines open, five, one, three, seven, four, nine, seven, thousand, one, eight, hundred, the big one pound, seven, hundred on at and T.. This is what I would think would be our top five at least are starting top five, not in exact order right now, but I think we have to have that one. The Hell King Homerun this state nineteen seventy-three. We'd have to put the Eric Davis Homerun Game One of the nineteen ninety. World series. We'd have to put the Tony. Perez home run in game. Seven of the seventy five world series we'd have to put Johnny Bench bottom of the ninth home run to tie game. Five of the National League Championship series against the pirates back goes clemente to the wall. It's gone Johnny Badge. Every home run to left his this right and the game is tied. And I would put. Jay Bruce's walk off clinch miss home run to win the division in two thousand and ten now what order and then beyond bad up for conversation? We've had this debate in the past and I remember the last time we did this, and it may have been. It may have been a year ago, or it may have been the around world series time thinking of the Eric Davis home run, and I seem to think we always debate, which one is one between the Davis Homer, and the Tony, Perez Homer, and the argument always is Eric Davis Homerun. Was Game One of a world series. It didn't win a world series. It wasn't a game winning at the end of a world series game homer. It was in the first inning of game one. And yet you understand the impact and significance of that blow David vs Goliath knocking the as for a loop, right out of the chute with the food, man, glare under the under the CAP, and behind the mid of Dave Stewart and the as work done with one swing the Bat, the Mighty Oakland A.'s were finished in the first inning of game. One of that world series when Eric Davis hit that home run. Yet, the argument can be made in terms of historical significance. The reds are losing game seven of that seventy five world series three to nothing in the sixth inning. They lost in seventy. They lost in seventy. Two people were wondering. You know as Sparky, really the right guy for the are they going to be able to to win a world series or not with all this and they're coming off of the heartbreak of game six in the Carlton Fisk home run they fall down three nothing in by the sixth inning in that Game Tony Praise hits a two run home run. Now on one hand. It didn't even tie the game. It didn't win the game. It got him back in the game. It got him off the Mat. I seem to in the past. We have debated those two for the number one spot. What else would we entertain in this conversation about the most significant impactful home runs in the history of reds baseball as you understand it. Again if you need your memory jogged or just want to kill some time watching. Some of these I have twenty of them on the blog at seven hundred wwl W dot com. There are those that have come in regular season games. There are those that have come in. Division Championship series. There are world series home runs. There are all star game home runs. There are hit homers that they run the spectrum. And you're talking over one hundred and fifty years baseball. So? What can we add to our conversation? When we continue five, one, three, seven, four, nine, seven, thousand, one, eight, hundred, the big one pound, seven, hundred on at and T. are now carrier sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet, seven hundred wwl. W is ready for you. Eight, twenty three seven hundred wwl W it's Arnelle carrier sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet eight tomorrow night back. normal time six did nine I'm out on Friday, but that will not prevent us from doing our annual fourth of July weekend off the beaten path topic, and that is in honor of being outdoors and certainly situations. will be different this year but it honor of being outdoors in. In the fourth of July, we always revisit for the this weekend. The games the outdoor games we played as kids kind of the Ode to Pitcher's hand, wiffle ball, games and hot box and pickle, and all of that tomorrow night for the off the beaten path. Topic should be fun. Always have a blast without that one tonight. We're honoring what I proclaim is unofficially. How King Day in Cincinnati was. Nineteen seventy-three, one of the most significant home runs in reds, history, which always makes me think. WHAT DO WE CONSIDER TO BE? The most significant and impactful home runs in the history of the franchise I mean I could last night was one I. Don't know that it's top. Five might be top. Ten last night was the anniversary of Adam Dunn's walk off. Grand Slam to beat the Indians that would be up there is it I don't know? Is it top twenty five top twenty? Does that get into the top two. It was a regular season game. It wasn't in a season where they made the postseason. It wasn't even in a season where they had a winning record, but terms of drama. How many times have a history of the franchises that were better? Grand Slam to win a game. That drama certainly ratchets up the importance and the significance I would think for our conversation at least I think inside the top twenty, if not pushing top fifteen go to Columbus and Michael. You are on seven hundred WWL W. Befriend. How are you good to hear Your Voice yes? I've got to. Of course Davis his home run in game one that basically stuck a dagger in the Oakland as you talk about setting a tone for a world series with one swing of a bat. And then I don't know impactful. This would be on the web. Yanni benches homerun on his night. Yes, I think that has to maybe not top five, but that's at least two top twenty, if not closer to ten because I, mean you know I? It's your reason for bringing it up. Think of the stage. That was his night. His parents were there and on his night he hits a home run and is he rounds the basis? He's holding up the number one in his hands like a like a kid in little league. He you're like. Oh, he almost hit. The game winning home running game in the world series. Yes, it was, it was true joy on on an electric night that was all about him, and and he delivered at that point, so yeah, that has to be in the conversation. Eight. That's all Michael. Thank you you know what else I would add a certainly from an emotional standpoint. It's not top ten, probably not top twenty, but at some point in this conversation you would have to put him on the list. Michael Lorenzen homerun following the death of his father. Because if you remember one pitcher homering game now I, know it's pitcher that can hit a Michael the Renton, but the circumstances. It didn't win a game. The circumstances and as Michael is rounding the bases he's in tears of I will never forget that night. I'll never forget that home run again may not top twenty, but if I were writing a book on the most impactful significant home runs in reds, history I would have a chapter on the story behind Michael Lorenzo. Following the death of his father. How Out Let's go here in Portsmouth. Ever it welcome to sportstalk. How are you? A of friends and I think it was like nineteen seventy or Nineteen, Sixty, seven or They hit a home run and. Yes in fact, lucky, my mom California the head of chain, link fence, and yes. The Gary. And Training yes, the fifteenth inning which I think I'm safe in saying. That's the longest all star game in history and a Cincinnati red wins with a home run in the fifteenth not. Not? A Little Kid. I remember that yeah. That has to be in the conversation. I'm glad you called tonight. Thank, you, sir, have a have a great night. Yeah, in fact I! have video of that went on. The blog at that is one that I have at seven hundred wwl W dot com it is. In fact, it is if it's still up there if youtube still has it, it's in. I think it's even in black and white I if I remember Ooh, this is a good one, maybe not top ten. impactful and local ties Mason, we go. Hey, Carl I, don't I'm well I. Like the one one you're about to offer up. Tell me. A nineteen ninety five reservoir in the playoffs versus the La Dodgers mark lows step for the plate and had. A walk off. Grand Slam the win ballgames. He three against the giants and ninety five and got us. Off of Markelle three Yeah Oh. How about that additional information I like that? Also I'll throw a truck note and. I was I was when I was west of Oklahoma City Reagan Falling Away Station when I can spend very rare barely. The radios the and Say Groping at all, and it was it was. It was hard to contain my side, but. That is excellent. You made my night. That's a great story. Thank you. Jumped the track you know. In, the Stop Real fast on. Your round. Inspection. Right Carl thanks buddy. All right that's I, liked it I story that goes with it. I'll tell you the ones. I'm looking for that. I can't find him for the blog and again I'm I'm tied to Youtube? If it's on Youtube and you can tell me about it, you can send it to me. Lance Atlanta mcallister DOT COM, I'll take anyone you think can crack into this conversation. What I can't find the how king? Somehow some way video does not exist to my knowledge of how king's home run. The pinch hit homer on this date nineteen seventy-three and that is. Colossal and its impact, because if the reds lose their twelve games out, they win, they take the double header. They win sixty of their final eighty-six to win the division. That's impactful. I also can't find Pete's twelfth inning home run in game, four of seventy three against the mets, and that would be against Harry Pirker and I had a poster of Pete. Rounding Second Base pumping his. His fist at Shea Stadium, but I have never been able to find video of peach. Twelfth inning home run in game four of seventy three, so those would be to that. I know of can't find video for for the blog all right more when we continue Clark and Nick and Andy and Matt Tom and others have a home run to add to this list it's. Interesting because think of what we've had. We've had world series candidates. We had A. National League Championship series candidate with the Mark Lewis. We've had an all star game candidate with the Tony. Perez and we had a Johnny Bench homer on his own night. So the scale see there's different levels for the scales. Home runs to consider. We'll check news, and then more are now. Carrier sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet seven hundred W W. Do you do ride nibbles to work in the outfit I mean because we haven't seen you in Cincinnati keeping out there. Are you keeping up right now? This is serious stuff. Nibbles, horse, Tau. I can't find it and I want to say years ago Pat. Hughes, the voice of the cubs, put together a CD of some of the legends of broadcasters, and he did interviews with them and included some of their great calls I. I believe this was on that CD and I can't find that CD, but Marty Brennaman has always said this home run, and the call of it was the moment that he finally felt accepted by reds fans. He took over in seventy four of course July twenty. Fifth Nineteen, seventy-four Tony Perez hit a two run home run in the bottom of the night that riverfront to beat the giants, fourteen to thirteen and cap a dramatic comeback. The reds I think a trail by seven or eight, and as the ball leaves the Bat. And MARDI calls it Marty says, and it is screaming. It's all over the reds. Win It. The reds win it the reds winning. And Riverfront went nuts and Marty will tell you to this day. Request there were calls to this station that evening, and throughout the next day play that again. Play that again play Murray's call again, and that was the day Marty said that he felt accepted as the new voice of the Cincinnati reds and I don't have that audio. I can't find it. I had it, and it's it gives you chills, and I don't know where that CD. When anybody has that CD and can confirm that home run his on it, and you could give me that audio. That would be outstanding. Let's go. Let's go here. Ashland Matt seven hundred wwl W, welcome. Hey LANSAC. When I was a boy growing up in Louisville the AAA team in Louisville colonels. Was a Boston Red Sox team. And all I'll saw the their brothers Momberg. Yeah saw his awesome. But how king? Was Our catcher in the very early seventies. Really Yep, he sure was. He was a Boston Red Sox. farmhands. And for whatever he was the only black guy on the team. We had Louis T on was on that team. Yeah! But the only African American got was how king how. Yep and for whatever reason. We all just became his biggest fans. And that was a great story. You told about his homer. That's a great story. You just told because I didn't know so we traded I gave you something I didn't know, and you gave me something I didn't know. I gave you some you didn't have that. Will Give you one more yeah. My entire lifetime professional baseball. And I saw a lot of mammoth home runs. Yes, but the best one I ever saw. Was the triple a all star game in Indianapolis? And it was Oh, my gosh got. We've been talking about the the big left-hander. Frank Coward Prank our no, no, no, the left-hander played for the reds. Not Adam earlier that bad. Okay all right all right, and it was his. It was his last minor, league game. And Adam Dunn hit a base while this was the first year of the. Of Indianapolis is new ballpark. He hit a ball. Out of the stadium. Bit still circling the earth. But Lance get. Hit The street and Dead Center field. Enrolled all the way down to downtown Indianapolis No. Yes. Through Don Shula's steakhouse. That's a fantastic story. A I'm glad you called. Easily, the best I ever saw I love it. Hey, thanks Matt. Have a great night. You know I had done on my list for a different home. Run a major league home run. He hit the longest home run and great American ballpark history. We'd have to find a spot for the five hundred thirty three footer. He hit in two thousand and four against Jose Lima blame it on Lima time, remember. It went out of the stadium and landed what up against a piece of ward or would have rolled into the Ohio River. We'll put Adam Dunn Homerun on our list. How about? Cove Dale we go. Andy seven hundred, w. w welcome sportstalk. Thank you I can't remember it's. Made that run not being shut out for like one hundred and some games, yeah! About two thirds of the way through there, they were about to get shot out. Somebody in ninth inning hit a home run. And kept the streak going. ooh, that's one I got to find I think I. Know What you're talk. I can't figure who was I can't either. I can't remember who you know what you've given me an assignment I'm going to try to pick that up all report tomorrow night. How's that? Thanks for the call. That's good. I have an assignment. I have a take home assignment tonight. You know another one that's intriguing, but where do we in terms of significance and importance that the todd frazier home run that won the home run Derby I mean certainly July thirteen, twenty, fifteen, certainly an impactful night. The spotlight of baseball was on the city of Cincinnati `electricity in the air. The clock is ticking down and boom. He does it and yet it's an all. It's a Homerun Derby. So where do we? Put It on the scale of impact and significance, but man. If you're a reds fan in that time period this time here, you will always remember that night, and that home run to seal it as the winner of the home run Derby. Dave concepcion hit a hidden all star game home run in eighty two. We were white. which I loved. Further down the list, but a significant homerun albeit in an all-star game we'll do this date in reds, history and round things out next eight forty eight arnelle carrier sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet seven hundred wwl w. Backward, let's go back in time on this date. In reds history, we begin way back in eighteen sixty nine. Thousands of spectators lined the streets of Cincinnati for a welcome home parade for the red stockings who returned home from a perfect twenty and a road trip, nine, thousand, nine, hundred seventeen Fred Tony pitches to complete games on the same day in a double header against the pirates. You become a general partner. Nine hundred five Bob House, retires reds, president and CEO. How he's not in the hall of fame is beyond me. Nineteen ninety-three I forgot about this one Joe Oliver Mrs Three Games because of a seven stitch Gash on his. His finger incurred well unloading the dishwasher at his home. The injury was part of a string of devastating injuries that saw the reds lose seven regulars that season they used a club record, fifty one players that year nineteen ninety-six. Forget about this one. How Morris Breaks is elbow in a freak accident during a reds win over the cardinals in Saint Louis he's kneeling on deck. Circle Eric Davis takes a swing at the plate and breaks his bat the barrel. Sails through the air like a boomerang. And Hits how Morris in the elbow breaks his elbow. And finally on this date in one, thousand, nine, hundred nine, the reds win their tenth zero beating the diamondbacks at synergy all right there you go. I, love. Those are a nightly on this date in reds history, right? Let's round it out with home runs. Tom Ram listening offers up this I. Love to see this. When way back in the sixty says wally post hit a Roy Hobbs type home. Run at the Old Busch Stadium. It knocked down part of this sign in left field that is tremendous by the way Roy Hobbs on the TV. Right now up here on the Monitor on MLB network the natural. What fantastic movie! Love! That movie one more? Date we go, Hey, pat. Hey. What's up how you doing time? Well, what do you got for me? We've got a good one for you. Thousand and Some of the lost years of the red, but Dion Sanders made his return to major leagues. Is First Batty singled up the middle first. Pitch Second Pitcher home three run home run. Third Time he had a bunch single then he stole a base and you know who that that home run was off. Deo, nomo! Eric Gonyea. Don't hang. You'll is back and look at fast that Eric. GONYEA, being the most dominant one inning pitcher ever. He was hundred and sixty pounds. He was about the size of Dion Sanders Dionne hit one. Out of the energy than, but it was just freezing comeback Friday. One that people don't remember today that the place was electric that night. That's a good one. That's a good one to wrap it up with that Call absolutely, thank. You have a good night. That was may second of two thousand and one three for three, a three run homer, seven six win of the dodgers, energy field hit the first pitch for a single, the second one for a homer, a receiving his first career curtain call after the home. Run there you go he. He was thirty three years old at that time. I wish I had more time I don't I would have talked more about you gotta include somewhere on these Barry Larkin becoming the first shortstop major league history to go thirty thirty when he hit that thirty th home run in Nineteen ninety-six, I'd include Ken. Griffey Juniors bottom of the eleventh inside the park home run to beat the cardinals, I would include well, certainly in the conversation Todd Frazier's Homerun for Teddy Kremer in two thousand and twelve, I would add joy vodkas home run for super bub. A few years ago, I would put. I put Joey votto walk off Grand Slam on Mother's Day Two Thousand and twelve. You'd have to include somewhere Joe. Random walk off homer on opening day, five and Ramon Hernandez, and his three run walk off homer on opening day, two thousand eleven all right tomorrow three hours live some fun. Talk a little reds, baseball or off the beaten path a night early since I'm not here, Friday will be our traditional. Fourth of July weekend, topic the outdoor games we played as kids. Always have a blast with that one This was pretty cool. You know there are some nights. We pull things out of thin air The last two nights we've had topics just pop up out of nowhere. That turned out to be fantastic topics. Thank you for one year contributions to for listening and and three. Overall supporting the show. Straight up nine o'clock that I'm on time for change. Let's check news and Gary Jeff Walker with the NIGHTCAP Arnelle carriers sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet seven hundred WWL W.
Quack Shot Starring Donald Duck - GMMF 95
"All right, buddy, welcome. So 95 of games. My mom found I am I covered in who is The Doctor Jones want to be with me tonight Michael quick use to fax over tonight. I got nothing. This is your first numbered episode. You've been on since episode twenty. I know. Okay. Thank you God for mm. I I was on Aladdin was my last game episode crack. Yes Heroes on the 5K celebration thing which was a long time ago that people do not listen to and you were also on the 11th. It was a lot of people listen to yes occasionally do trivia questions very early stuff and I passed out like I was like, I'm dumb wage, but you tried I tried thought that, and this is our first episode together. So hello. Yeh. Hay khong And we're going to be talking about a game that I actually was holding off on actually might did you is this your pic or do we just a camera? I think the group decision. I'll just introduce then we are playing a game that I had been I held off on because I was in well, I was actually saving this for a rainy day in case my worst case scenario happened. What is what I say, I was saving this for I just in case something happened I had no, you know, I couldn't have any if everyone lost their jobs. Just me and Tiff. I'm like just in regards to with me while I try to figure things out. I mean, I I was I didn't need that in this in this situation with that sort of reason I was holding off in this game close enough though and we were going to be talking about quackshot offering Donald Duck developed by Sega came out in 1991. Yeah, so I actually have I have vague memories of this game cuz as a as a kid, I played it at a friend's house down the street. I don't know why but he he had this game for Sega Genesis night. Again, he only had a couple of games but he had this one we played a few times. We never really got super far. We always sucked at it, but he had he had this he also has a job. Add know the Jurassic Park game certain tendo now cheese that one I had this one my friend. Buckin, Ohio Brandon. Hello. Yeah. Yeah. We used to play it even like up till before I moved out here. We played occasionally. It's a good game. Okay. I have a a bone to pick though right now. But with video Wikipedia calls this a platformer which it is and they also say metroidvania. This is not a metroidvania kind of like you go back to previous levels with new tool with the two new tools that you pick up throughout the game, but it's it's like the lightest wage or advancing there could possibly be even call this a metroidvania metroidvanias are typically they just one map to this one's kind of split in between several levels. It's one world map. It is as long as we learn most games, I guess. Yeah, that's affects not I mean, yeah, I mean you have a you can pick like when I can't read about the game starts off after you after you, press Start you get into it and you have a select room you can page. What area you want to go to first? I mean, there's only one choice in my opinion duckburg, but I thought it's cool how it gives you the option now and there's a story to this game too in the if you don't press start right away. Yeah or Donald going through school library and finds a an old treasure map and a story like that until I didn't press start with me. See if you crack screen that they had four games. Oh, but I am so impatient. I press start your patience. I know I know but you love me. Anyway, I do. All right my one thing before we dive too far this game, but I do want to say two well two things. I like one. We are on YouTube app you like the show, please subscribe on YouTube. I need more subscribers. I don't have a hundred yet. The second thing I want to say is tell people you like to show any more people listening. All right back to the show. I tell her all the time, but they think I'm biased cuz my thoughts on it. Yeah, I mean, I'm not biased at all. I mean I only have a sinus as president of games my mom phone. I'm not by his one bed. So I actually like this little intro where it talks about where he find they've gone off. Find the mass or not the mass the map map find the map. He's looking at it. And then Peter, is it Peter Pete? Pete Pete ends up looking through binoculars and sees him holding the the map that he stole from church. That's the that's the attraction know. If one of these games have been spying through the window and saw everything of one of Pete's game that all look exactly like him. I mean, that's how some people do it, you know life. They're same person. It's Jango Fett and the Clone Army. That's a Star Wars reference for you. Mike. I can do that every now and then it's often used to be. I mean, it was kind of funny like the whole story. She goes on a treasure hunt and his leaves days. You need to see Daisy shaking her fist at him. Very toxic relationship are always yelling at each other. Hey, some people like chocolate even get married sometime talked about it. Right now, it's normally not here to complain about it set you up for that one. Yeah good point. So I I like this like, it's I like the phone number. Or some kind of Opening screen or some reasoning for what he's doing. I mean no idea that he he tells her that he's going to go on this Quest and bring her back treasure, which I don't think he really plans to I kind of he does it inadvertently off about the enemy. Yeah, is that right up front? It's weird to have an early 90s Disney game. That's not by Capcom. It's like all of them were over this time. How many episodes in the shower by Capcom? I wonder if that's just thought well like every many we've done so far except I know pretty much all of them not born from a wish true. More like flashers that next flash it so you are right though. All the peak game like the first level that mostly would have played this game is duckburg and I like duckburg for one reason cuz you know. Berg came I can't think of a song about all of a sudden it's like a hurricane. It's like who you go in and I never really thought about it until this month that you're in duckburg is the first level. I guess I never read before I never realized it was said duckburg. I spent almost to click this button here. So is there any point to the money in this game that you gather forget those those those sweet sweet points? Okay, so no reason so no reason. I mean, I know that you're I give you extra lives or whatever probably it's typically how these games go off until recently. Like I remember when I first played this game, I didn't know what the fuc to do because as you finished the first level you get to a dog and then you get a little flick you have to go somewhere else and I'm like what what the hell it wasn't I didn't figure this out to a wage. I figure out what you how to play this game. I was an adult I bet it's it's a little more open than the most Platformers. Like we said you you have to go go other places to get things to come back to open the way. I don't think it's interesting that your weapon at least the beginning of this game. Is it just you just shoot plungers at things. It doesn't kill anything hit them in the face and they get stunned and for a few seconds. They can't do anything until they start moving away punters was an odd Choice like, I don't know why they come up with that. I just don't snow dirt board. I mean everything. Yeah, I mean so many other things in this game our fridge in Indiana Jones, you know, you never had a plunger gun. I might have been more I'm surprised I wasn't in Crystal Skull that sounds like something stupid enough that would have been that movie. Now. You got people swinging from Vines. Like there are monks instead of these do for no reason at all. You gotta get away from the giant fire ants that I'll eat you. All right. I mean, that's I mean, I I guess it wasn't until this recent playthrough for the show where I realized how much down To just Doctor Jones or doctor duck character duck fuk completely. I never realized complete Indiana Jones rip-off. Oh, yeah, you can tell just by looking at the cover. He's got like the the fatigue and the the brown vest or whatever. He's even never liked looked at the cover I did but I never put two and two together apparently cuz it never dawned on me until this most recent wage even got snakes and everything. I just I don't know why he's never even though like Pete's gang reminds me of the people that are the Chinese gang the chasing after him and Temple of Doom home. That's what I got because they're guys met. I know you don't need to watch and pulled him against. Oh God. That's the worst. I'd rather watch crystal skull than that one that's goes worse. The only need to watch 1,000. Hey as even one of the actors I met from Indiana Jones said he was in the good movies of Steven Spielberg used in one injury solid. I think the the character's name under Patrick name you play Give me the name. He's a real big guy though. So that's Crusade which will talk about more later in this episode if you will and so the second time you go to with Mexico Mexico, and then you go to Mexico you get somewhere you go freaking back to Transylvania or not. Translate you go back to duckburg. Tell the dog. You saw that you got to Mexico. So he gives you go back to Mexico a lot of frequent flyer miles just to get there to be tucked told to go back to get the key to get the key to go back to Mexico then go in the pyramid. Yeah computers all the time limit for this trip. Just weird to me. Like I know the kids get it screwed me up cuz I just couldn't you know comprehend that cuz I was used to more simpler games like Final Fantasy six and Chrono Trigger. Yeah. We gotta go between time and yeah, I was okay with that but in this page, what do I do? I don't understand. It's kind of a simple at first. Yeah and obtuse at the same time like the combat a simple. Yes. That's what I want to say and like, I mean, it's kind of cool you you have an inventory home. You can choose what items you want to use and you have to use different items to progress through the story. You also have to go to the menu to call the airplane, which is annoying to you and to use the look feature one time to look feature. Yeah, use it read the journal. I just read the guy to my phone and told me that it was but don't you actually have to look at it to proceed with like you do? I think I did so I don't know what you did your special like, I'm just better at games that solve it. Yeah. Okay, if you say so I like scare you off of playing our YouTube and play. Are you two around you too much on purpose. That's one of the gravity what I was playing dead space and maybe jump. Yeah, I do. I would turn off the control. I would just turn off the PS4 in his left the spooktober we were so excited to get that over with we forgot to mention that this was this week's game. Yeah. I mean, yeah, we were just we were just already be done. There was a lot for us off. A friend of mine posted a meme in in the Facebook group where it said. Oh when watching a horror movie at home or smiling and playing a horror game. It had homework screaming. I'm like, we're both me and my car both the bottom one home versus Freeman. I you know, I don't like horror movies and horror games you guys are was that yes, we are. Yeah absolutely wearing me. I forgot. Yeah, I don't know you mean those that don't know which is majority of people just news episode. She has a tattoo on her arm of Stephen King zipped Michael Myers, Freddy and Jason. Jeez, you get enough of that long. So this game interesting like one thing with the plunger is like you you have to you have yours even apart make sure you have to like hit enemies too stunned them. So you can jump on them and climb up. I thought that was interesting too. Yeah. It's like the Ice Beam from Metroid. Okay, I will go with that. I basically know you're talking about been a long time. It's like why and I have a question why the hell is goofing the damn. My lights all the way in the very end of the pyramid birth. I was just hanging out. What are you doing? Here here? Nothing major first place. You'd go back to duckburg just to get the key doesn't make a lot of sense me get let me get Jamie but he gives you could be just gives you the red plunger. Yeah, let's stick to walls. This is what makes this game a unique platformer cuz you can you can shoot walls and then jump on the place that you shot in the wall. I mean that concept is everything in this game, but it's a big part of this game and it's cool concept. It's the only reason I think they want with plunger just because I was something that would stick to a wall ever had to have this concept of early on because it I mean again, I think you should have just started with it, but I understand they wanted to give it to you. So it's cooler than just starting with it. I'd like to believe that they worked backwards from having goofy in the pyramid there like, okay we got going this pyramid. He's gotta give you something showing he did not this games. What is it Disney games? Will they fit their characters and all the time and I do like how all the all the enemies are juice. Some something from the Disney cartoons in a way. I mean maybe not there from cartoons that I should say that but they're like animal type things. I could have fit in a cartoon know like you had you know Peach gang. This is Pete and you have like the turtles black box with boxing gloves on and that's all stuff that fits in in the in the world the Buzzard the draw B's on you cuz we didn't get enough of that in Mega Man 3. It's not going to be on any time soon, So stay tuned for that one a long time paradoxes is interesting. Are you finish a level? You can this case you get the green plunger and then you have to go back to the flag poles call the airplane and then go back to duckburg for the third time Shaq blender. I was like, wow, we fast-forwarded really fast. So, you know, the best part is I'm watching the video of somebody playing this game with a red plunger and some reason my brains went green colors in the map at all times down there. Yeah along with the the temperature gauge that you use I think exactly three times that's fun for me. They don't get it much know much, but it's home. For me to collect five Chili Peppers, usually all group together and then download goes under one of his classic temper tantrums or he's Invincible. Yes, you're not wrong. That's only a couple of times in this game. Cuz I I I had gotten a few of them and I carried him the rest of the game because I couldn't find the last two and there weren't any more. I think I did that in the Maharaja level like somehow I got three above five. Yeah. I think the last time you see it maybe probably it's a concept is in the very first level of duckburg and they don't bring it back too often. But the 2nd... Once you get the plunger down some cool stuff with it where you end up climbing a building with the plungers, you're jumping across roofs. And for some reason speakers can hurt you when they shoot words that you that come out as words and travel across boom-bap in the 1960s Batman. Yeah, Mr. Get your obligatory Mickey Mouse Cameo to he's on the blimp in the background. Oh he is dead. The emblem for all the Kingdom Hearts fans, we gotta cover that someday. So the guy that you talked to induct forgets who the hell is gyro duck again. I know he's from the gyro gearloose. She's the one that box creates the Gizmo duck armor. Yeah. He's from the the original cartoons, which I assume is in the comic two, then he's the inventor dude. Okay, he gives you the second animal you guys didn't talk about or third and you also get corn. You can shoot popcorn at people in this game, which actually does kill the enemy. It doesn't just freeze them might be the only platform that has corn as a pick up item kind of a few and then you also and then your other weapon that you get besides plungers is bubblegum ammo Republican and bubblegum destroys things for some reason destroys blocks. Only certain blocks a very specific looks yeah. I I don't get it. Okay. Yeah, you're not meant to get things in this world. It's like they had a whole lot of ideas or like okay, we need to put this in like where I got room to use it very often. That's okay this put it in any way home. Did notice that like the enemies give you food or health which is food pickup. You could either get a chicken which is trying to hear the donkey. Duck and you're going to get a chicken money. We're the same species, but I'm not seeing the chickens. I'm going to it's okay. Like I told you I was going to do this during this episode. I got a reference to the 2017 DuckTales cartoon cuz in a recent episode a non. Characters hanging out with the nephews and they're feeding normal Ducks. The character looks at the Knox looks of the nephews looks back at the ducks like very confused by the whole thing. It's better off sticking out. That's so good. I want to say newest episode is all about Darkwing Duck too. So I know manual was freaking out about this, okay? It's okay. I already heard this thing on this on this show once before I don't know about that one is anyone I think I would just talked about this morning to go to remember home page that was once in the future. But he before we talk to you the next moment you go to is Transylvania, which I I want to say at once a couple of years ago. Me and Tiff went back to this game and we're trying to beat it on a retro pie and we got the Transylvanian never got past Transylvania. So I went through a phase where I was like, I gotta be games legit girl games and that fact that my dad I did not be too legit. I'm so sorry. Listeners of the show. That is hysterical. I try and then I and then I got nowhere so I'm like why am I doing who am I who's winning here? I mean as ninja would say I'm I'm shooting myself, but no, I'm not. I remember that quote that was a while ago, but I still remember that dumb quote. So Transylvania is interesting cuz you're in a swamp and you have bats that kind of pop out of nowhere that I like. Wow. I like the first part Transylvania. I don't care for the ghost. You Can't Kill Ya this first part is very Castle of Illusion forced evolution is like the the spooky trees in the background very reminiscent of those exams kind of cool. I mean, it's the castles annoying just because I didn't when I played this before I didn't know what to do and I kept getting screwed up and hurt by the ghost like cuz you fight these enemies you can't area and I mean this game before hand, you can hit them with something in stunned them. But the ghosts you just have to not to hit by them or outright. All right kill em with the popcorn but it goes our immune to everything. How you doing popcorn. What song. Okay. Yeah, and the other thing annoying about is you have to use the gum that you got constantly in this Castle to break barrels and stuff that the game tells, you know, let's gyro mention so they can destroy them and gives it to you. I'm not sure if he doesn't mention it. Okay, I guess I don't read you just know you don't read don't pay attention Hussein patient one-pass. I got no time no time. No temp work work clean cook under how quickly it's just work work work and usually means podcast podcast podcast. But yeah, there is no quick clean. I know this is cooking. Yeah, so the underwater part cuz they cuz again 1991. We got it under Watergate under water level. I did not like the underwater. What about you GIF? Like I yeah. No, I mean it's just like a shuttle underwater stuff are just slows your movement to a call. It makes everything slower and everything more challenging. So no, I did not like it. Yeah swinging wrecking balls that are impossible to dodge your points off. And I mean he it reminded me of Mega Man because when he jumps underwater, he jumps higher I think but you don't have to worry about the breathing aspect though. So that's true. We're gonna make a man. No, but he can normally off of it normal speed. You just jumps higher. Okay, you're right and the Mirror part that screws me up in Transylvania is there's a part if you're following you get the big goes that looks like it reminds me of Benjamin Franklin for some reason that will you follow dog? Those Snicker at you and then he'll split into a bunch of mini goals with their tongues hanging out that want to eat you cuz you're a duck and with with that you have to stand completely still when he turns around to keep them from coming after you I never did that. Yeah, I kind of figure it out the hard way. I mean, I just hit F5 and then Dodge hit f8 if it didn't work, but you know, that's it's a state wage for those of you that don't know. Those are that's his safety. Yeah, this is your first episode cuz we talked about it all the time. I mean I own a legit copy of this game somewhere. I've seen it you own it off. I want to know that's mine hand. I think I'm going to copy actually adopted. Well speaking of Al's I actually screwed up and we did that off. But do you want to tell that story we can't have an actual yet on the shelves surprisingly was Center here in his quackshot. Why not? I'll tell it so when we when we got married we had a guy that was doing the you know dead. The ceremony we we had a friend of ours do it. And for some reason I got nervous and grabbed the paper from him and read the vowels instead of him reading them as the I mean, that's fine. Like I'm off is a picture of me with my my hands just over my face and you can tell I'm just shaking my head and and so I was like, I grabbed the microphone mouth like it's okay, baby. I'll show you how it's done. I just got so nervous and just she was like we never apart, we didn't I was such a blubbering mess. I couldn't actually read my vows. So they fish it had to remind you can just take the paper and read it yourself. I don't know why I did that and not part of my friend. Just looking at me. Like what the hell is going on here people typically read their own veils. They don't think they take a paper from this issue. Give me that it was all she was a part where the fishing and said repeat after me. Oh and then he grabbed the paper and read it instead of waiting for this issue to be like Mike you blah blah blah blah. That's a little different than yeah. So we should talk in Transylvania as you like back to the game as you finish the castle you get to your first boss fight a dragon named Dracula. Yeah. I don't get that. But you know, I'll take it. It's not he's I mean, the first boss was always easy, but it's not it's it's interesting to me like I am That I have never gotten to Dracula before I only sure if I did I failed terribly but I mean it was a fine fight. Yes. She shoots out bathroom Escape, you gotta shoot the bath and you gotta shoot him and then he shakes and then you wait and repeat the cycle everything with fights in Boston. This game is wait hit wait wait, you know hit again. They're all kind of crappy right up front like on the suck. But hey, then you get to go tomorrow haja, right? Well, what countries are supposed to be in India? Okay anyone makes sense? And and this time the peak games that you're fighting the still compete. Now, they have, you know hack for winter. Go ahead. They have they have big fluffy hats on their heads Shop and Save or another way in turbans. I don't know maybe they're wearing turbans and I'm just confusing patience. Not sure what you're talking about. So German is the kind of hat off. I was thinking like the cold half like the yeah, like the Russian style ones. I can't remember what they're called The Snake Charmers have interpreters on yeah they do for sure. I don't know it doesn't matter but I am How does an interesting little level too cuz you're just kind of running across and you meet the what the hell is it? Not a feral. I don't know what the hell they call this person. There's a name for this leader in India, but I can't remember at this time. I can't remember what it was. I thought is why I reminded me as as our that's Russia told me we had the ability to look things up now doesn't exist. But again, this is another where I was getting huge Indiana off by because in the second Indian movie Temple of Doom Doctor Doom, he goes to India and he does meet with the the leader in India who's a kid at the in that movie. I wanted to chat or at least it was in fact, either of that called. I can't remember but either way it reminded me of that a lot. I thought that was interesting for sure. Oh, I didn't know this but apparently takes three plunger shots to the face to stop one of the snake Charmers. Yeah thought you had to hit him in a specific location. I just kept missing me to know you have to hit him in the face. So I would just enjoy a good to know him three times though the first name Will just bounce off like nothing's happening. I think the title for the Indian later is Maharaja. Yeah. Yeah. You're probably right and then you get your second boss fight you go. Okay. So after me tomorrow he tells you can if you want what I have you have to go through a maze your go through a trial in order to use by the way. They had to cheat on that one circles like five times ten minutes. I was like, okay, where do I go, you know cheating in the first place either of you know, because I try to be better than my husband. I like cheating so I can't help him. You know. Hey, I just being video might think it's funny like when I got about cheating or something on the games and you'll be a little Indian you'll comment back on Facebook once a year, at least. It's just like to do that. But so then you get to fight a tiger. Hello Tire looks awfully familiar. He does look like Cirque on. Yes, Jungle Book. Oh, I was thinking a lab job. So was I thinking of Aladdin no, Robin Robin? Okay, I watch I don't watch a lot in again now for good couple thousand and one I like I like the live-action on come on. I am I haven't seen but I saw Lion King and I was not a fan I didn't see like I I don't know about Lion King. I haven't seen them yet. We could we have the ability to we do I just don't care enough if all right. So basically I like to try your find this is a it's not a hard fight, but you can literally just stand there in the office and when he just as I watch a video the guide to shotgun just hire just kept jumping into the gum. And that was it. Yeah, and I did have to hit him when he's in the air. He's on the ground. He's Invincible somehow thought you have a gum Lake works better than the plungers and some of these boxes. I want to say that they probably do more damage since they're limited ammo you would think anyway, it's hard to tell me a joke. Ask the video. Sorry. We're not there yet. Go ahead. You get the the spring steer. So you kind of assume your next step is Egypt. Sure. Like do you like General? I liked it. I think it's a good level something. You have to leave and get in the airplane and drive off again. That's the other thing about this game all the time it always every time you finish something up. You better go walk to that flag, which is right by you and jump in the plane and pick your next place faith in like that some Mexico or if you all the way back through the pyramid now within that was stupid or Temple, I guess the pyramids are in Egypt. Yeah, don't break too. Yeah, but right off, yes, you're right when you're riding back. It's you know have to like Dodge electricity or any of that business. You have to climb up over the over the building that roof though true and Dodge the booms the boom box. Here comes the boom. So here each of us kind of cool. This is where you get the you get the Chili Peppers again to which make them get angry. Oh, I don't know. There's some weird stuff in this game off. It's a really strange thing that make no sense. Like usually if everything doesn't really need to be there you only use it a couple of times and and I also know some of the it's usually when you get the chicken stuff, it's from the peak gang which makes sense. And then you get to the very end of the Egypt for the first part Egypt level. You have to use the item that you got a thanks to your from our ahaja. You think it's interesting if you didn't go tomorrow hard you could go away to Egypt get here and just be stuck Richard irritate me. I mean, it's kind of cut out the game because even when you get to Mexico, you have to go back to get the keys. I think that's why as a kid, I could never really figure out this game because I could not figure out how to go back and I want to say internet wasn't a thing when I was playing this game. I couldn't just go to couldn't just go look up the internet. Probably not quite know. I just remember doing the internet a lot for Pokemon red blue and yellow to find Mew and things. I remember that and take a player and pick a blue and now channel surfing Pikachu and balloon Pikachu. These are real by the way, those last two are yeah, but not the time know. Okay. Yep. Weren't in Pokemon Red and Blue are in Pokemon yellow, right? If you have a Japanese card and live in Japan and they were able to join America. It is an odd choice to make you keep going back and forth. It's not like it's counting or anything cuz it's just a going to the menu and go to the next area, but it's cool. I mean it would have been cool in nineteen. Ninety one. I'm just kind of cool now. I just I can see how I got so confused into what to do. They wanted to yeah, thanks and and each of us also be end up introducing a lot of traps to the game you have speakers from out of the floor you have blocks that fall wage pillars that are moving towards you with spikes on it. It's interesting. Yeah fire pits for some reason cuz it's a 99, you know, cuz it did Jones Temple of Doom and you can walk and run right as Donald if you hold down a button or something. I know you're running. Yes, really. I didn't do it that would explain why I kept getting hit by the Fireballs in this thing. I just took the hitch. I'm like, well, I guess I can't log Well, this is stupid. I can I play this on a Genesis controller. So I got infected with Mike's don't push every button thing off a game. That was also next week to yeah, just because we have random remote controls. So I just like pressed every button to see what it does before I start the game like sense. It's a good thing to do. Don't be like Mike. Yeah or me. Hey you are so our Mike. I was like which Mike are we talking about? Both currently? Yeah. I'm watching the play through Thursday is clearly out running this firewall. I got hit by everyone was like why the hell was a stupid you thought well, there you go. If you go on up on us off and then you get to the wonderful wonderful way to finish a Gainer. There's a puzzle at the end of Egypt that apparently you can skip I just saw what you can skip it if you run all the way to the side of the wall. Pungent why you're running you can jump on the plungers and just miss it. Barely. Nice. That's stupid Moon something. Yep. We got the jump off the block. I hated that I was like my God stupid cuz you can't jump on the box. You have to jump off the block you to stand on them directly on them and then jump in order to activate it to get the next one. That's another instance where you need to use the lock function to the rebirth scroll the scroll that you got way in the beginning. It's it's not not good at puzzles and then you can Minecart riding like you're in Temple of Doom again. I I like that. I mean, it's really really simple you just jump into a different mind like what all I could think of a simple do when they're escaping. Oh every Minecarts Donkey Kong Country Country just ripping off people do also offer which way we're going to talk about that game before too long to Temple of Doom. I know I'm looking forward to go with you on this show. I didn't know you wanted to there's a game for first time. I've never really bothered to get, New Jersey. . It's really bad. That's bad. I played it. It's really nice twice and Super Nintendo games. So it's not this one of those figures Genesis license game. Yeah, but it's just nice to Thursday. Okay. Well have a lion king buddy. Okay and came with you guys on that one took so long time ago when I played it for maybe like 20 minutes. I was like fuck this game is terrible so I can hear the monkey sound when you when you are my head. I had never played in a store and I tried it. I was like, oh plug this cable is this it's rough. That's not Capcom. So with the monkeys and the ostriches and a lot of nightmares for a lot of kids out there open up logs up waterfalls terrible. And then after you finish Egypt and you get the whatever the hell you get in the tub d'oeuvre you have to go to the song. Oh, this is another Indiana Jones thing. You got to use the scepter to the roof rack laid. Yep. You just get the key to open up a basement for a for a guy too scared of ghosts choice, but in instead of finding out where the Ark of the Covenant is, which is the Viking ships on like the opposite end of the map. How did this key? Get all the way over here Frozen in the ice. I don't know and you ain't getting back though. You could always to the end you get a flag and then you get the key. I mean, I don't think I would have put two and two together for I wasn't cheating using a guide. I can't see younger Mike who would have played this when he was like six years old figuring this out wage. You just aged me. I feel really old when you said that you wanted section 19 anyone. I just I I played it later. Oh, it was fine for five eighty-seven. I am not working right now. That's what I would have been fine. But I didn't play this when the first came out cuz I was still living at my old house. I hadn't moved yet and I met the friend that had this game later. So it would have been ninety-five probably still aged wage. Got you. Both fate. I don't want to hear it or not. Older than me. Are you yes. Yes, maybe three oldest bills got me be too. So I don't feel bad. You know, he's about to turn forty. Wow. Yeah, I wouldn't guess that so I like the South Poles. Okay. It's a simple level it gets really annoying when you go back later, But then you go to the Viking ship dividing ship is interesting to me. It's not I enjoyed the Viking ship though. It's not bad. It's definitely it's got more verticality than a lot of the other levels you're going wage were end up and down. What is it still hasn't cool moments to it. You get to ride little things on robes. And you get to ride the Crow's Nest things up the cool Parts. It's visually interesting. Yeah. I'm a single mom with a lot less death in screaming dancing screaming. Oh God, super Ghouls and ghosts is a game that I once peed with a friend with Rich friend friend of the show, but we beat it with save states and it was like wow. One of my jobs at the safe say button while he played the game. It'd be the number to hit actually the first game I ever that. My mom ever got me was super Ghouls and ghosts on the show. Yeah, that seems appropriate. Yeah, cuz that game was terrible hard. It's on switch online. So you got rewind now that's how I beat it you go. You can buy it for the switch babe. It's free. Yeah. Well other than their dollars off. So when you go after you get to the the sad Viking guy who just like I'm scared of ghosts and then he used the key that you got the other level for some reason and then you can go into the basement ship or not. Bitch. I was in Transylvania. I follow all kinds of ghosts if these are more annoying like this is a I do not like the inside the ship. I hate this boss. I hate the the big Pikachu members are run out you they're kind of dicks. You can't hurt them. Yeah, you just gotta jump over them at the right times. Okay, so you can't hurt them right because I never figured out how to do that job. I don't think I tried the the other ammo on them, but I wonder and I got you a popcorn and it didn't work. I didn't bother with the bubblegum. Like I definitely didn't remember them. I probably didn't make life as far when I used to play it you can skip them like I'm watching in the video. I'm watching the guy he just skipped the Big Pete and when a whole different direction and in this ship and just skipped it run waste the boss was why didn't you tell me this. Cuz I did walk the speed like when I'm watching right now where the guy she knows how to play the game better than me. We should do that beforehand. I do something. I do resonate with games. This pause wasn't too bad cuz it's just a matter of waiting for him to land and then jump it up and shoot him in the face. He's like either biking zombie with a hammer for some reason and he you you you know, you said you hit him in the face and he fought the face falls to the Head falls off and then he jumps the other side of you put back together. You have to jump up and hit him at the right time or you blocked it with the shield know. It's like you said the beginning every boss is shoot Wade to wait and the whole reason that you home. Viking king get rid of the ghost and a ship that because he promised you the diary. He's like, yeah, I don't have it. Thanks. Help me though sucker. Let me send you back to the South Pole. But this one they give you the final plunger, which is only issue is what I think twice in this game. Yeah, I don't care for it. This is the one where you can you can you can use it to stick certain Birds the two birds and these particular spots and then you can ride the bird and this is another check mark in the Michael didn't mess with the controls because I thought it was this you wrote a horizontally didn't realize you can move it up and down should go a little bit on the screen off when I get hit by one of their birds with bombs and fall to my death and this happened more times than I'd like to admit to not put together pretty quickly told me about it the first time and I was like, okay come up and down in the second time. It came around. I'm like, what am I doing wrong? Cuz I forgot I don't feel too bad. Then. I feel bad. I don't know the hell hell about guessing with her off. Where am I guessing with a cheater? Cuz you cheat all the time. So there I do. Yes, it's it's rubbing off on Mike now, too. Certain games there's no way I would have made it. There isn't able to without those weapons. Okay, we have to talk about the the killer whales of the orcas in this next part of an article cuz they are terrifying. I mean the the nightmare inducing thing. Yeah, you're jumping on ice on icebergs. Hey Guys Burgers and they have these huge giant killers of pop out and try to eat you and if they hit you it's wrong to kill did you fall in water? And I have like human teeth like oh God, it's not in the funny thing is there's Penguins right before you see each Orca, which they eat they eat penguins. So it's kind of funny to me off if I'm going to look like they're wearing bibs for some reason and little army helmet looks like there's a green heads. It's gotta be a helmet think so I'm watching it right now, but it was like almost dead. Yeah, okay this part and the ice business in this game. Oh, they're annoying. I know it was not enjoying icebergs last night. We were playing that we were trying to finish this game for the show life like a hurricane here in Iceberg it's a pain. I can't imagine doing it legit back in the day. I tried my hardest. It didn't go. Well you had me to help you out. So it's okay. I made him do most of the buses I struggled in Egypt and you're going across the the platforms of the fall over top of the lava. Like for some reason. I always missing jumps there. That's because you did in to run off guard here. That is why we already exactly hi. Oh, man, I can't smoke. We didn't I can't believe they didn't know to run in this game. Either just got was playing on hard mode. What was the Genesis controller? I mean we're using I'm using a 360 controller to play this. Yes instead of four buttons with the star you have like 4 8 10 buttons. I mean, I set the buttons where I want them, but still I just don't like it who's got time to push a couple of buttons really got apparently I can't let him know the run but I wonder why you moved so damn slow. I mean, I've done all moving slow. I guess annoying you have one speed even talked about how you only have one speed and we should watch me and how I ran I watch you play the game sorta. I guess I didn't pay no attention, you know, babe. Yeah. I know. It's almost like nurses were way better than other games. I swear the podcast with you again to some comments. So and then you have to go to South Pole and you have to go through after you jump after you jump over orcas and almost died or dude I am Have to go through a fricking like real maze thing with seals and to get a diary of hidden inside a nice block wall wall versus hey, seals. Yeah. I got the I got the test thought you're right. They do break ice. I just watched it happen to and and then you so you get the journal you get up and then Pete who captured Huey Louie Dewey, which I have not seen at all in this game and I just thought yeah, I think they're in the intro to yeah, I guess but I mean you give you give him the map and the diary because he took your nephews and then you fly to his Hideout they get the map back. So I really how do you know? Where is hi. Is I don't know but you do apparently follow him. I guess this this walkthrough refers to them as the ducky gang which is just hilarious off ducky gang a bell. That's what it says. And then you have another the second part when you have to fly is the bird again, so they know, you know the make of the green one. Don't forget you can move forward to claim. New sections. I don't know what kind of idiot wouldn't do it that I make a lot of dumb mistakes in games. So it's not like I can talk but you better night usually better than me. I think I was playing this like home tonight. So for me, that's probably past 7:00. 4, but you also like you were saying about the snake you have a bunch of snakes in New Jersey last level cuz you cuz you got the map that he took away from you last with him and he titled some research a lot of snakes. If you title then you get to write in their Minecart to impeach level. I hate to say thanks. I hate that. They're noise why they have to be snakes hard. I already made that joke. I was like again, it's such a Indiana Jones thing right in also we had mentioned yet that when you stand still Donald gets really really mad at you. We actually offer did it. So like super quick though. It's like 3 seconds and he starts tapping his foot of anger problems. He's never make him angry. Yeah. This is like, you know that Mekong. Angry stop eating them. Geez. What did you think of the Platforms in Peach level? They did like rotate back and forth with jump on the helicopter things Oh, you mean all the blind jumps that you have to do it here because you can't see where you're going to get you right there. Pretty blind martial rotted lot of shit off-screen. You just have to hope that you land on one of them, it's bad. I mean, I think I did. Okay though. I mean I was cheating so it wasn't a big deal. It's just like save states will help you there jumps a state jumps tasty jumps AC isn't that bad this game? I tried to to only save say at the start of rims. So typically I was going through entire rooms again, except for like the big winding ones like the pyramids so I would die here and then I would do the whole room again. I'm like, why am I doing it this way? Why did I just figure it out of the second to last long? Would you like to suffer? I guess I guess that mind-set were like I got like you beat Darkwing Duck legitly for some reason. Yeah. I don't know. I was also early on when you joined the show before you realized even or Yes, you know what you signed up for when he joined. I release now I can say that I'd be Darkwing Duck Eliason realign. So yay, we got the achievement for it. I did get the page it maybe it's entirely possible or just or just a preview that I could I could do it. Yeah, like wage job. I probably I guess so. I how do I I enjoy Pete Idol I enjoy as you have like kind of climb up a level use a little elevated you have Pete gun shooting at you or like mini Pete's I guess you had a lot of kids wage. Yeah. It's the Clone. I'm telling you just had a lot of kids or had your kids and he's got a PJ, which I assume is Pete Junior and then pissed off. I think it's the girl. Well, that's a good joke. I have no idea we're talking about a door will do Goofy Movie on the show sometimes. Yeah, okay to be back for that wage. And then you get any finally at the end of each level or P title. You run into Pete finally which again, you just looks like a frickin gangster from the 1940s and he goes into some it's a weird little love where he has like a Sonic song machine like robot machine theme from Sonic games that I kept thinking over. He just tried to squish. You said after a while a better robot next a better fit. Yeah. It's a lot like a. Robot and level where you have to hit them. Then you repeat the cycle a he's not a bad fight like he's pretty simple. Yeah. He's one of the easier ones that fail Ellen wasn't hard. No, he didn't kill the goons. Either me know I didn't know you could kill the goons suck. And it still wasn't hard. Yeah, it's I mean you don't you can just go back and forth in the first screen with the Enemy where the little minis aren't there and just let him keep dropping his big Anvil ringing and its hit him in the head. It's real simple who would win a fight three podcasters or one platform from nineteen. Ninety one former boss. I don't like Platformers that much. I'm kind of Platformers. I don't know what it was about this game. You didn't know how to run so you just about it. We're missing things in the game. Birds can fly up and down and you can run. I think it's funny. We both missed it though. I'm kind of happy as both of us. I was wondering why certain things are higher than they should have been I was wondering if you guys long as you could run. Let's see if I can be Mario on without running. Oh, I like you can probably not. So after you hit I mean I only use the plunger cuz they ought to save that all the corn for no reason at all. Cuz that's how I play these games. I saved the gum to add in like to use anything. I don't like to use anything Expendable as people who has been shown up. I save the gum just because I knew I needed it for the blocks just in case more blocks came up, even though I had like dozens of shots, but doesn't he just give you more sometimes sometimes not all the time. Well, I never ran into the situation. We didn't either I don't think we just he's been around me too long and tire says if you run out of gummy and come back to him to get some but I assume you have to go through all that level again. You you gotta go through the whole roof thing to get stupid you get to the final game. I think it's like Duck island or treasure. I don't know if he'll notice I didn't some Island you go to which has the cuz you got the diary back and this time you're able to read it. I don't know why the hell you didn't read it when you first picked it up in the ice, but you read it and you find out you have to go Long Island great deck Treasure Island according to the locker room and it's more snakes and there's also leaves you jump on that fault there disappear as soon as your fall apart when you jump on them, that's fun, which feels like another world of Illusion thing off. I kind of know what you're talking about. We're not really like, yeah. I have very little reference to that game. I know the trying to make me player that something else. No, that is a magical quest Starring Mickey Mouse, which we will absolutely play if she keep jumping late now, it's levels interesting. Like it's you get to jump on Bynes at explode cuz find your exploding for some reason but I like to find a level in this game. I don't have a problem with it. Even if I gave me Last Crusade Vibes at the end of this level. Okay. I also didn't realize this game was a spoof on Indiana Jones until the very end until near the end of the game. Is it the leap of faith thing? That's what made it clicks off. Like your own preference and I'm like in my I don't if you took me about it. So the controller down your like I said to you too if I remember you mean like how did you not notice that I think so. Yeah, probably why did you not notice that cuz I wasn't pay it. I don't know. I got nothing on the lot to like I'm a big fan. I don't know. Why didn't click but did not click until that part when I'm like this is laughter seen like no, You go through the temple was like gold and ducks that are statues that yeah. I hated those like Gump skills through the shield and everything. I didn't use. I know I mean either watching the lock through and yeah, I'm just obliterates and that's cool. Then you have these pillars you have to jump on to avoid getting squished by spice. I think it's wrong to kill maybe I don't know but you there's a part near the end of this level which I had. It's just a pain to jump on a block and then shoot plungers to jump up this whole and you don't have a lot of time to do it. It's a it's you have just a few seconds or like a second or two seconds to make this jump my kid to do that for me. I can do it. And then when you get to the leap of faith thing where you you get into an open area, would you like Straight From Last Crusade where every time you jump off 1000 from the second platform will will appear and at least they're not time like Mega Man Yeah Boy, I just gave someone a panic attack dog. The sound is not accurate. I mean, I haven't play Mega Man was found in a while, but you sounds right and then you get to the final boss, which it looks like someone from The Crusade. It really looks like with the guy and the girl asked her said right? Yeah, which I didn't piece together until just when I pulled up the bus, I like. Yeah, he started the guy that has some choose the Holy Grail Choose Wisely, right you chose poorly you play collection you chose poorly it better to something different plan this trip. Okay, that's fair within the last few weeks off. Okay, mostly good though. So sorry too terrified to hell out of me blood almond. No common. Okay, but I want to just garbage in the hospital its source. He really not want to play Blood open to the hospital instead fuck blood open to say so when you go back and finish that game. Yep, even Julian didn't finish blood Omen two only. I beat it United Phoenix. I got has to sign up for this final fight is it's really simple when you know what to do. You get this duck thing. You have to stand he throws the sword and then you hit in the face before the block that are falling hits you the bubbles work better. I just wonder how you'd appointment to I was saving the bubbles thought she made them out to the final boss boss. What were you saying? Yes, how I play games. Like when I play RPGs I save the megalixirs. I save everything even on even it doesn't matter. I just gave them I do feel like I use on my popcorn making it that for me too. I was I tried it a little bit and I was like, I'm done you do it. It's hard with the blocks falling because they fall they cover a good job. The screen the trick is you have to go either after you hit the balls you can stand with the store it is where you can stand where the boss is what he's still shaking from with his iframe invincibility frames for those that don't know before. Yeah, so that's what I did at once. I figured that I did that the whole time. I tried to tell them to use the bubbles, but he won't listen to me or saving them to be. No, I just was okay another way here, you gotta use them to destroy the box to get out just like the save ammo and stuff. There's no real reason to it. I just do it and then after you beat this boss repeat the game, you're playing Stone figurine of a duck princess noticed how upset he get he's like all this all this for just this like this the spread of Slum Donald just defeated off pretty good. He's so upset too. He's he's not happy either. I like that. He's like what and then it wouldn't breaks for some reason cuz I think the three nephews drop it off. Necklace just jumps on her neck and then she's all happy probably cursed. She's they like gold and jewels necklace Diamond. This is biggest her head. Hey. I thought it was the best friend right now that they say that route if I'll take a cat instead. Have you got you got to your good? I need another one. Nobody has to be more than three years. So yeah, your mom had eight we have four I need at least one to keep up with Mike. You have a dog. She counts as two know she doesn't suck. So I mean and that's the end of the game. They dropped the statue. She gets the necklace Daisy kisses Donald and Donald starts flying. He got killed. The end the end and then you see them flying in the plane Donald who's now got rid of his Fedora and Daisy sitting in the back, you know, I don't like fedora hats at all anymore. I really want a shuttle. Why not you were Indiana Jones at one time. That's not why I don't like it if I went like the doors cuz people with big trenchcoats, sometimes we're four doors and chase after you in games. So I don't get this mr. X able to hear me saying that traumatized me where I couldn't sleep the next day and I'm like Mister X is going to come get me and I'll tell you doing Mike in a mod for that. They're just turns them into one of the ninja turtles run their Fedora and trench coat. I just need a disguise to you extra activity. I find, you know, maybe when they're flying over the credits that it goes through each of the levels in the background. Yeah. It's kind of cool. It's I also want a reference. I like to cover how it shows Pete in an also in Indiana Jones outfit. It's not any job, but she you know what Pete looks like they'll walk. I just realized in the cover. He has the same hat as blocking the same type of job. Okay, go on just the villain in the first Indiana Jones movie that in the after the beginning. I think if passed The Rock when he gets out and he goes what you have can always be mine or something like that. Oh what you get can always I don't remember but he was here. It's not important. It's important to me baby. It's not important. We have to re watch the movie again soon. Oh good. It's a great movie to watch when I'm trying to edit. I was just making watch the tiger kitten guess I don't need to watch Tiger game ever and I'm sure I will again before the day before the before I die. That's what we're being for. How long is the country and Carol basket spoiler alert boy literally just came out after bonus. I'm so sorry mam questions comments your memories. Yes. I know that. That's the thing. I still doing the show. How about trivia? They have any trivia for us. Did you know there's a run button in this game? That you can run in this game. Oh man. All right. I'm just pulling up questions and memories right now. I did get a few actually got more than I was expecting a post first. We'll start with over blood is normal and I got back from OverWatch from Tiffany Albertson. This is one of my dad's favorite games. That's all I got over Blood. Come on over blood what's going on here? It was me and my dad would play this but I for some reason I never remember Game Pass Castle the castle Vania one, Transylvania go along with the joke that I realized that I'm like. Oh, she's not I'm sorry. Okay, that's me after I would have went with it or whatever and it says it's kind of Castlevania you go through a castle and you fight Dracula and you got wrong. That's why I thought she was I didn't realize he was you know, maybe the ghost is death. Maybe the ghosts out from made along the way God for that. Where's that from any way that I don't know. I think it's just something people started saying way way back in the day. Okay and okay for another group that actually gave you. From the Sega Genesis group that I posted this in first of all start with wry person. It's another Sega Disney classic fun to play Laura Andrew Messina used to play this but don't remember at all to well time to fire up the emulator good. I'm good, man. Nahi Spears top five. My Genesis still got it today. So do I just want from Joel pants? I have a question. What's with the randomly capitalized words to Route? That's just how I type when I make cops. I actually asked her questions different Facebook groups and I I capitalize certain words just because if a word is important to me, I'll capitalize it a title show autocorrect. I'll get you some times through Thursday. Well, my auto-correct will actually correct words. This is the wrong spelling cuz I type wrong so many times. Yeah and his phone speaks my Koosh now, it does have become quite the translator to talk forever from Daniel King. The music is so economy. I still listen to it now and takes you right back to my childhood that duckburg Fame is still super good, but I didn't end up liking the rest of it off. Like hurricane. It's a dark blur and Joe bail the music from Transylvania is so great. I don't know you're talking about and let's see wage. Like I hear you going from Billy Hardy my uncle got it with a mega drive for me. Oh my God. Good game at night time to levels the music and Metro levels cool. It was once he says make a drive. He's not it wasn't from if not from America. So I might have the wrong to okay is Milly Mill see got stuck in the pyramid. Yeah, I don't blame you not. Hey you like this one Mike from Shawn D tried fantastic game like Castle of Illusion. We might have to play that at some point. I'll play it and from John Hamilton, probably the best Donald Duck game I've ever played are I mean even are there? Yeah. That's what others are there. There are several Donald Duck in a warehouse call Mallard. There's some other ones to go and clackers that was going quackers. It's three platform from the past two hour. I'll never heard of it off. He's in the third magical quest game too, which is not nearly as good as the first two. Oh, he's playable and board of Illusion. Okay, we need to play that. Yeah, I think so. I might be affecting. Okay and this guy don't know what that is. All right from Joseph s the gfx in this game still looks excellent. Traffic's he's also an old the Kingdom Hearts games wage this one from Seth Lucas quick generic boring and slow compared to other Disney titles. Honestly surprised this come up with a good game. So often in this group Toy Story and Aladdin all day over the illusion games and Quack shots. Just my take. Wow, tell us how you really feel dude. You didn't say Lion King go. He didn't say, you know or Jungle Book. I mean any any Capcom Disney games going to be over? Anyway, I like this more than a lot easier though. There's a ladder game here. That's actually pretty good cuz I know no sap. Okay. Yep. So you guys talked about this on the 11 episode way to different companies made the the Genesis and Super Nintendo ones. We did. She go listen to it. We haven't you're not into you can listen to right. Yeah, that's far. They played like the Nintendo and Sega Genesis and The Game Gear and the Gameboy Color and the gal that was only you like those literally only you yeah. I know. I was unaware I was supposed to do that. So I was left out in the pool that I was supposed to play more than one game. He's like, no, you're not even have to know I have to but everybody else did what happens on the show Early Times May twenty. We hadn't really hit our stride yet. Yeah. It didn't use this message is just for you Mike from Kinfolk Sims. I'm sorry, but for sickness Disney type games, I'll take tailspin lying and I'll add any day over quick shop. Okay, so no, I won't play this over to a Salesman and if it's the Genesis Aladdin, I would play this over that and I also sent this guy or a girl. Spend video. So if you watched it, I'm sorry. If you're still listening to us. We were not most of that game. You're block story about it from Jason Walker man hated it. So I realized she could stash plungers. Yeah, I didn't borrow the manual with it. So I don't feel bad. Yeah, you're not going to get very far without that. I didn't have a minute either when we first played this game or if I did I didn't read it. So, you know, well, he didn't realize you could stack the plungers. Yeah. Well dear. Yeah. How did he get you don't have it right away. So it's no but you still can't get anywhere until you realize that. Yeah. I got two more. I'm going to read them. We're done with this section from Davie Kelly fond of quick shot, but they should have made more of the plunger gun mechanic if they had more levels that require you to make your own platform with the upgrade of hundred could have raised it up to be one of the best on the page drive. It really wasn't neat idea for the time still this okay not wrong. It would be cool to have absolutely. All right and from Ryan nesselhauf, I enjoyed this game when I was younger and finish it and uncountable amount of times. I can see by today's standards. Paired to other games how people can say it's slow. I personally liked it has Metro Vania elements in it. Even before metroidvania was a thing. It's not as slow if you know, there's a run button that's that's impressive like especially back in the day when you didn't have stuff like save states. Yeah, I'll buy that. I love safe States. I would have never played them all safe State. I don't know if I would have finished it cuz I have forgotten about it and I'm like shit recording today's welcome to change my mom phone that's never happened. I don't know how long game over Works in this. I don't know if you have continues or what but I might have been able to eventually learn it to beat it. But sometime when it says game over you continue, but you pick up that the level the beginning of the last level you were at that's not it's a horrible. Yeah, let's do not like some games I'd be like, oh you get started the entire game over. Yeah like Toy Story song. Play Store is a bitch. I would have whatever someday thanks. Thanks random. Comment that out there flying people some blankets actually almost on the show in the office the second season and then they said no they shot me down because I wanted to play that. Yeah, they were not interested in lacking. I kept the lab know, but I lost I'm pretty sure they don't listen to this. So yeah, so I still can't call them jerks you can for that reason. I just I will not but that's different. So enough of that last thing to say about quite sure before I go to shelterbox. I want to say how underutilized Scrooge McDuck in season that intro wage only time you see em, but I think they're just capitalizing on capcom's success with DuckTales like City Scrooge's in this too. Yeah, I guess I mean that's not when was the song DuckTales to I think wasn't that far away from this game else. You might have been actually released after this game came out. It's definitely although 1993 doing Ducktails to comes out and one dog. Anyone there be DuckTales still it's a good game. Can I know you have it? So you should yeah DuckTales one was eighty-nine. So it was absolutely out. I figured it was cuz it was an earlier NES game. Yeah, you should really play DuckTales you on your Disney Afternoon collection that I know you have. So I do have that it's a great game. Probably the best game on that collection. Wow. No tailspin. That's the best gamer. Oh, shut up. All right, let's go to chauffeur box and I'll go first if I want to so I'm putting this game on the Shelf. I had fun. I enjoyed it. It was a good game. It was a nice little romp after a very terrible long Halloween R. I played games that took the shit out of me. So it was nice. I guess it I got to say Doctor Jones Dr. Jones and that voice why am I playing this game for myself? But I enjoy DNA Jones reference. I'm glad I finally got to finish this game that I played so long ago with my buddy who lived down the street from me and I did it. I finished it I cheated but I finished it going on the Shelf. How about you Tiffany shelf for sure the Shelf cuz I have good memories and it's a fun game overall game. It's got a good will challenge to it and I liked it and it started you reasons not. Well, I think partly. Yeah, you're probably main reason this is actually on the show. Finally. Can't remember. I think Mike might suggest it but it might have thought. You know, I know it was on my shortlist Google lot during that time. We were trying to throw together schedule. Yeah. I don't remember a whole lot. So how about you might you know having it usually he lets the guests go first. So you guys can have that conversation after remember recording. I definitely have fond memories of playing this with my friend back in Ohio, like I mentioned but playing it now wasn't as fun as I remember that works of the music wasn't as good as I remember it being the ductwork mucus music a store, right? I agree with that comment that said they they could have done a lot more with it. It seems kind of basic when you lay it all out like we've done this episode. I feel like I gotta put in the Box just cuz I don't really have any interest going back and playing it again at least not anytime soon. So there's so many better Disney Platformers out there. Okay, techniclean deep duck trouble starting Donald Duck. I don't even know what that is for Sega Master System, or I gotta wake us up and keep going what you're saying price cut you off know there's pretty much that but I think I'd rather I'd rather play Darkwing again than play this one. What? Yeah. Can you change that song know I mean a game was sorry, but over listened to this is just a tough fucking game to play a night Mega Man cologne. No, I don't know. It's got screwed in the quantum Mega Man 3, and that's why I didn't like it as much huh. That's fair. You know the joke that only me and you get less dangerous. If you want to make sure you'll saying that whole entire thing check out that episode the very end. It was all my fault. He's saying it too but watching this deep enough trouble in the intro has Scrooge McDuck and a diary page. They're just very one-note when it came to visit. He plays Daisy I think in this game. I think that stays in the picture and their water. I've got a black through of it's Donald. I don't know if they picked a character dead how there's ghosts in this game too. He's running from looks like another Globe hopping on he's in the jungle and in a temple It looks interesting looks rough. It's Master System looks very close. It's a matter of some kind of like their version NES. Yeah, something like that. I actually don't know a whole lot about it. Hey, you got a chili pepper and you run fast. I've heard that somewhere. All right, and I think that's what we're talking about next week cuz I don't want to forget that again. Yeah and might get your pics. I want you to do what we're talking about next week. We are talking about the first Mass Effect just in time for n 7 day. Are you sure if I thought it would be usually later? It's like November 9th or something. I think is the release date for the episode of November 9th, November 8th at night and my time but yes never 9th is the official name. Date if I don't that's going to be a fucken log on though. Yeah, so it's a nice nice short episode. Then we go into along with respect. So if you enjoy it, so definitely check out Mass Effect were replaying that original doesn't hold up. We enjoy it better come find out. I'm going to say no to both of those. I've already beat both me and my cat already beat the games. I can actually answer your question. I'm not going to on the yep. I started I started the next week's game already today off and trying to get ahead. Mostly cuz I want to do it next weekend to play Watch Dogs Legion when it comes up you guys are married. Well, absolutely. I don't know what you're getting into. Yeah kind of how I was before before we got married love know. There is no podcast before we got married. So no they were competent. Well, yeah, you can you act like I forced you to tear it down eating forfeit. I'm just make me move Chinese it wasn't up. Anyway. Oh, right. I I want to I think it's time to wrap up. So, yep. And that's all you say if you enjoyed this episode, we covered a few other Disney episode. We did Aladdin episode twenty. I think that's all I can think of it off the top of my head. We do other Disney games. We did Darkwing Duck theme song to Darkwing. We did Dark DuckTales episode for which also $79 eighty something like that. They completely off topic. Well you guys think about this. I've been meeting ask you but I'm an asshole. How's Your Dad? You mentioned on the low that your dad was having some health issues. Yeah he had. Aw I guess he has like an irregular heartbeat back over here. I don't get uncomfortable so he had an irregular heartbeat. Yeah so they had to go in and do something like to the back of his heart to try to fix that and they did and it went well I guess but they had to they the whole they had to make in his legacy. I think we're bigger than they expected. And they had to do like four different things in the back of his heart so but it went. Well they said I guess good. I talked to him when Hap after it happened and he was. You know how you get when you're coming out of anesthesia. You got all model Lennon. You know. I've got the grades grandparents ever in. Sooner at every time it's one of those things where I go to ask you about his dad Then I just look at twitter instead. We're GONNA have you're holding your phone. You can text them right now. Dill Wad of asked me on twitter. I GonNa ask you what. You're dead on twitter. I think it's weird when people can actually have communication nick publicly have lunch. What get Outta here? We Group text him though that on facebook. I've had people give me their phone number. We're on facebook just on the wall and I'm like you understand that that's like I know like yourself. You just put a sign out in the middle of the street for everyone to see and I think it's weird. It feels very performance especially on twitter when people do that kind of stuff. Because it's like me I'm I'm I'm a person that can have lunch with this person. Yeah yeah well you know what everybody gets a trophy participation trophies or the way the day and we wish them luck Folks that You know have that on their shelves and feel good about it. The important thing is who had the number one hit any any anybody. Is it a band No I think about it. It's not a Dan. I'll tell you this I'll tell you this. One duo knocked out another duo duo. Oh Taller notes. They knock out Ram the knocked out last Christmas. No knocked out. Wake me up before you go okay. And then with the outer CH- Term Matt Matt go as reminder when I went to a whole new press conference. I bought some fake glasses so that I could Because they said we will be open to questions that I bought the fake lessons so that it no matter what he said I could move Mr Hall and and To my left and then it turns out that they did not open up the floor for questions that was all a big ruse to get us. There thinking we were going to be speaking into Holland hosts did that. was that a reference. I don't get that reverence. If that's a reference. I just always thought it was very funny that in movies and stuff where they would go. So you're telling me that the you went to a party on Saturday. Mr Belknap are used to say. I just didn't know if that was like in some extended version video or says nothing all the first of all it was ninety six twenty just going to a press conference certainly some educational looking glasses. I need to look like a reporter a journalist. Did you put a card in your Fedora. Banned it said press my classes throughout the year. Thing my friend. Eric laughed like it and then it didn't happen. I'd ended it on the car. Ride Home Four Thousand Times. No matter what he said I would go Mr Your Ren his last name was Iran and Boy If you missed a pronounce that that is a horrible horrible last name. He must have been teased mercilessly. He was he was also he was the guy that was all in on the India. The the new romantic look very durant drank here. That sort of thing at a time where I I was very much pop collars. There was various different looks He was all in on that and he got made fun of quite a bit too strong choice entity for yeah. Yeah and that said boy good for him for having the And put up with it man but not changing it yeah. That's I didn't have the balls to do that. Although I did wear a full ghostbusters jumpsuit. When I was I was like eleven or something different but but but even if it no matter what it says on her like I? It's a costume and I wore it to school on a regular Tuesday. And how did the school react to that UH-HUH I've blocked it out. Honestly they may. I may have been teased but I don't remember. You were allowed to wear it. Though throughout the administration had no problem with it or not. Yeah it was because it wasn't technically a costume it was just a coveralls with a ghostbusters patch on the shoulder. I ask because in in seventh grade I were we all we came. We went to lunch. we all came back from lunch wearing inappropriate clothing for that time. Viewer and The Guy was wearing snow. Boots and other people had on like Christmas sweaters and stuff like that. It was Spring Day or whatever and you and We were all sent home to change our clothing like we couldn't think what what do you feel. You're you know you're all you're all begging for attention and it's distracting and it was like it seems overly strict seemed overly strict. I will say that this my jumps. It was not the khaki of the actual ghostbusters also. It was black and it had lots of Zippers on. It was very eighties outfit like if it hadn't had the patch it would've just been like I would have looked like I. was you know in a band. Mr Belknap saying this jumpsuit was not authentic to ghostbusters. Busters know it was like my parents got it in New York City on a trip and they knew I would like they start belknap. Are you then saying this was a gift of some sort. It was a gift a weird coincidence. They bought that gift. And you know I don't know I think probably every city is kind of like this is some way but New York like there's so many shops like if you go to a certain street or certain part of town in New York you'll just see like one shop after another with knockoff Gucci. Stuff and knock off everything and it was probably from one of those stores so you tell your parents bought illegal Irvine Elia Yeah. I don't think this was licensed ghostbusters. They didn't make it was the year. The movie came out so there wasn't any there there wasn't like an official coverall gift. But here's the coincidental part. Where the they all on that same trip they went to a dinner party and Bill Murray? It was at that dinner party because he was the downstairs neighbor of the friend of theirs. Who was throwing the party why we hear him at the thirteen years in? I probably have brought it up before because I you mean pretty exciting. Doesn't that sound familiar. No I would think that that would stick out for me and it doesn't because because because my first thought is and it was the first time that Bill Murray went to a party that he wasn't invited. Hey rash that yeah that was he got the taste for it then and never stopped now. He was friends with denounces woman that my mom used to work with and Because they were neighbors. Yeah so he. He was invited. It was he was a legit attendance. That what he does these days where he just pops up somewhere and you. I'll say it ruins people's events steals focused from the bride and groom. I'm sure they have a store for the rest of their life but some could argue their day. Yeah I mean he has no way of gauging whether this these people are going into it around nine times out of ten. The people are probably thrilled. But it's definitely going to be people who are like get out of here bill bill. We're here it's the same deal if you're trump. I guess that's different. But he pops into a wedding at I. Guess if you're having your wedding you got a trump a trump resorts you're already already decided you've made a choice to get money but I will say even if anywhere in the world if if you're having an event and the president of the United I don't care who it is the president of the United States pops. And it's still like it's crazy. You might not support that president but it's still like Oh my God that is oh crazy angry although I look. I don't know who it'd be for me to. I can't speak to Steve. Steve Perry George Michael. Peter Sotero showed up at my wedding uninvited thing like Danielle set it up and guess. Hey they're going to. We're going to sing but if it's just hey I'm here and they all of a sudden it's not about is it's about and also you can't enjoy it because you're like that's incredible incredible and I'm a huge fan of this person but I don't want to. I don't want my attention diverted from the this whole wonderful event which is about my love for this. The woman exactly so I guess what I'm saying. Bill Murray State of stay home right Sachar big leading does the whole fucking skit. But what was that. What what were you just if it was like heck no that was me doing a bad impression of him you know he throws out a couple line in? Yeah sure you know people all fall over as if they've never heard comedy before they stay collapsed on the ground like it's Arsenio Hall in the late eighties. Why can't he just do? What every other person Jason like him does which is drop into the Improv and blow those people's minds do absolutely nothing huge laughs ruin the rest of the night for every other comment on the line? Now that's at least it's not cool but it only hurts like three comic right or whatever and the the crowd loves it. They're they're it's made there because the to that point. The the Improv is supposed to be that given moment. Billy Crystal may show a grizzlies not step foot in there. I would imagine thirty five years. I wonder when the last time billy crystal. Yeah Yeah. I wonder when the last time he did stand up was. I'm here's what this this is horrible. It's morbid but you know what we all die at some point but Friedman's GonNa pass away That memorial is going to be my God amazing. Yeah because it's going to be billy crystal. It's going to be Jerry Seinfeld Riser Lewis. Let all of these people Linda was more of a comedy store. Go Right But it's but who knows. We took a job away from Cornyn girl taking jobs away from it'll need He'll need to be there but I imagine that. Imagine me nuts. What's that yeah right? That's the that's the must get ticketed the year they're already thinking about Canada will also like listen. I hosted a show that he produced even be invited. Yeah it's all about me But we'll we'll bette midler. I show of course you will bette Midler. Yeah You know Pudgy. She's still alive. I don't know Pudgy sold. That is We're calling no. I'm not she's the divine. Miss M Sir I would not ever think to Speaking of drop INS I was just listening to the Robin Williams podcasts. That you were on knowing more than happy to do it. I spoke on their talk. Talk about my experience with Robin Williams The most recent episode I believe is the most recent one Gris gathered is on. And he's talking about when he was He ran ask hat the New York Ascott for a while And and and Robin Williams dropped in on it and so he was telling that story and he was saying the same thing that we heard word when he was doing he did that a few times. which is that? It's a thrill. And yet he steamrolled everybody. Yeah broke every Improv rule and yet everybody involved was is like this is wonderful and I am so excited to have been a part of this. How could you not? Everybody asks that. They're either my age or younger. Maybe so it besser and Roberts might be a little bit older. But I can't confirm that but we all grew up with more mindy and even if the guy's theme roles you you're like I just did Improv with Robin Williams yes a guy. I wore rainbow suspenders. Jeff him for Halloween. And now I'm doing this. Yeah Elliot you raise your eyebrows for I can only imagine regions to slow this bucknell funding. I mean that is my job. I don't know I a little bit of experience with with Robin Williams dropping in an had an Improv. I WANNA say and probably get the year wrong but I WANNA say it's ninety four ninety five that early yeah Might have been a little later. The Matt maybe his latest ninety eight but anyway Second City folks had been doing a a place called upfront comedy in Santa Monica After. Second City Santa Monica had closed and Robin Williams came in and did two shows. I will say that He. I pretty sure somebody gave him the note that you Matt Matt just talked about. It was like you know but nonetheless it was it was hard for. You could see him kind of like trying to hold it in and then all of a sudden it's just him for two minutes you know I mean He. He literally trained with Del Close. Yeah he was a very experienced improviser before he did end up even But but the people from this podcast odd CASTA. The story is that even back then he was not good at Give and take the following. The rosiak people will often felt like he was he would just Takeover which is not hard to imagine. Imagine it sorted him. Well Yeah but they did the second city style herald which is the one. That's cinematic where you know. Somebody's somebody's doing a scene and somebody decides okay. That's over so they just kind of walk out yeah. It doesn't have the whole thing that they do now with like. I've got Kurt to wash clapping or any of that stuff and to have Robin Williams do that. That's a tough. That's a real tough. Yeah Yeah but it was fun and everybody had a great time and in that situation the players knew he was coming right. Didn't just drop. He didn't drop by right like they may be re of Hersal Day. Rehearse with Robert they might have an Improv Rehearsal Kazuki. That's even more insane. 'cause that was Dan Castellaneta was there as well. And some of those are the voice on the simpsons. Did a one man show that I saw at the ACME ACME on Libra I so people are a lot of different things in this town. They use their talents to varying degrees the various Outlets and a lot of luck In their endeavors But yes hall was number one activated four at number two number three was. I would've said that wild boys as we mentioned. No I apologize this week. Number four was while boys number. Three was is And for some reason Alan Hunter is saying it's so bizarrely number three is written by prince done by Shafqat Khan and shock con when all the way up to number three and Chaka. Khan it's right now nominated for the fame so if you wanted to vote for shock on in every single time he had this weird. Hick was very strange. Chaka Kaden it's almost like he was like she told me that's how it is actually pronounce deny monitoring you should all know it's Hispanic News reporter Venezuela. There was A. I was listening on the radio to the impeachment impeachment hearings. And I don't I don't know if it was the council for the Democrat or the Republican. But they had a real tough time with the word escalator over and over and so it was a pool that they run away to an escalator and then then So what you're saying. That is on the way to the escalator. Like every single time. This guy I could not smoothly escalator. And again I don't know which side it was ironic because an escalator is a very smooth ride and all you could be as I said yesterday to my family. They're stairs let's go right. This isn't a ride. We're not an amusement park. This isn't fast. Pass walk them. Let's go I tried to tell Charlie that the famous Mitch Hedberg joke about escalators Because we were on a broken escalator and he said he like he started making a joke about like Ah like the escalator being broken or whatever and I was like Oh there's a comic who had a joke. That was a escalators broken. They shouldn't say escalator out of order. It should say escalator temporarily stairs and he disturbed me a- before on the show. I was not aware of that joke when I Kamal in I believe it was in Columbus Ohio and the power went out for a second And so the power went out so the escalator therefore would go out to our lady's at the top. What are we there? Stairs man walk up or down and told US oriented stage and I walked off. Mitch Hedberg jokingly okay. Yeah but mine's a real thing try to rationalize into my head for a little while like I'm GonNa keep going with that and there's like you know what as not worth it in you know it's more of an anecdote anecdote on a panel or something stand up thing but you know it was one of Mitch's best jokes. That's that's the problem is. It's such a famous. Yeah it's not just a Mitch Hedberg joke. It's a famous Mitch. Hedberg right and and it's also so perfect. A perfect distillation like your thing was funny too but thank you. Yeah and I know I'm not saying you. Obviously it happened right. Mine was a real thing. Both things are funny. But it's like he's written Joe Right exactly and it's the the perfect distillation of that. You can't get it more succinct than what he did look it a real world and we're two different types of comedians but in a in a different comedian would have seen what I saw then went back to the hotel room and tried to write the joke of that. Which is what Mitch did right? I would just really what happened in the two old ladies. Look the fool me a genius. That's how I do comedy. I'm better I punch down. These are dumb old people. Yeah I would've pushed him down. I would have said well you know. Here's the quick way. Yeah that's how you get your bag. Here we go get down to Lane Bryant. Finish your shot MC. That's what I would have said. I just said you walk up or down the stairs. That's all I said. I said at a call manner to not condescending way I was trying to be helpful to the sure ladies that were panicked on the although I've got to imagine that even if you're our age it's got to be a little jarring if you're on it and it just stops and you know maybe you lose your balance a little bit. Also the lights are off right but they came right back on and then those women should have not been so frightened and shouldn't have ruined my day and then there my there for my set that night at the funny bone at Columbus how they ruined your son they yelled out Hedberg. Oh that they can use headset because you were so upset about them. In addition to the joke that came out of it you just the crowd. I didn't enjoy rattled by our. Maybe it's GonNa Rod During my set wind. Power goes out now. The new reality really goes off and he give it time. You gotta the ready and luckily I don't do standup on an escalator. That'd be horrible. What would it be the best? Well I don't know how people would stay focused on you any given moment. There's gotta be some people that can't see you plan going in and out of line just keep going up and down. The escalator run back down the stairs. Do the other WanNa WanNa do the other things more sense. That's an interesting idea though. Is You stay in the same place by walking the opposite direction. I don't want to do that. It's fun that's my Kinda. My quads. Don't need to be involved in this at all. I think if you know I'm waiting for the comedian. Who put it does like you know the communities that get to that level where they do a show on Broadway or do a big theater tour I wanna see someone installed the turntable you see in like Hamilton or shows at various shows of had the rotating turntable in the middle of the stage? And just work that you know well many times a comic will open up for a band. That's on the The rotating stage on the use. It and they do but they don't have a choice because it's not they keep going. That's awkward They say it's horrible. Yeah Yeah Right. MAYBE RISER DID A. That's insane insane. Yeah boy there's a famous. I think it's a New York. There's a famous in the round theatre. Where like three three dog night would play they circle in the square? I can't answer can't won't be horrible smart because you start your joke. The punchline then lands over here right start at noon punchline. At six o'clock be three nine could be one could be seven the opposite of where you'd start. The punchline woodland takes that long to doesn't take six hours to get to that punch although with this bit. Apparently it does taking taking my time. I don't think they should turn the rotator on when when they have a common but then the people all on the back half of the Pie. Don't get to see what but that's a comic. You walk talk to them. Yeah you do you do a couple of jokes in one spot then you walk a little bit you do something and keep walking now now. It's your turn to enjoy this. Yeah there's no right answer it's it's horrible. It's normally the way you do but to your point to Hamilton is a stationary stage with something that's turns in the middle so it would turn that on and just start well because then they can do those. I think this is my bid about like isn't jogging the worst and they start jogging. That'd be great. Yeah I like that. What other bits could you? You could do a turntable but just like talking. About records record players jury could are popular again Microwave certainly getting microwave. Remember Mike. I got the the plan because they didn't have those originally right. That was must have been exciting for the food. Food's in there you know. This is the bit. I've got the bit guys. Just take it from the Pov of the of the Broccoli that you're microwaving and then there's the back of this. I know I want to jump in and you shut them down own. You GotTa Exercise That Rules Gentlemen. Yeah we've got an eyebrow Protocol now eyebrows go up. I'll Elliott's always used eyebrows browse but sometimes he jumps in without the eyebrows. And what's going on I. I'm thinking of Jimmy Pardo bit with with turntable and I'm thinking you get mad at the audience for disappearing so so you stand on a very much so again that would be funny to start doing crowd work with a specific audience member anywhere. You Act like you can't walk but I like that I By the way that is an old classic to be part of it in a way of the The hot dog at the truck stop. That is on that little rotating thing and you think that's like a little scared stuck on top of that was a that was a classic right. I'll let you get scared when he's up there just waiting for somebody to buy another hot dogs we can make its way back down That's fun hotdogs. I guess to bits. Bits indeed. Our links up top the cowboys guy. Walking out of where was as I. Yesterday I saw a guy looking. I thought for a second thought it was jeopardy nordland. He looked a lot like Nordland It turns out a lot of guys. Nordland there's a there's a very famous miss Soccer coach he's the manager of Liverpool. which is the best soccer team in the world right now as name KLOPP and he looks almost exactly like Geoffrey Nordland? Yeah squashes the heat. Early Way. I'd he looks like the kind of guy who would do it. I don't think I've ever seen him do it but I have no doubt I should watch more press conferences just to see sir. That's when it happened. It's like he's just talking like and it was a good possession but was that I love it. I like that and I walked in. And I'm meeting at at the Conan O'Brien program last week when I was over there visiting In somebody had the glasses that magnet in the middle. Oh Yeah and they They hey all I wanted to do is I'm on board with those I think to ripping. Yeah but somehow it still comes off as look at you. Aren't you interesting. Let me ask you a question is this. Does this person's job involve like A. Is it a crew person. WHO's moving around the stage a lot awed and they need to look at things and nope? No okay well the never mind no. It's the person that can use standard reading glasses. I'm with you Very often you'll see a second. Ad Yes our stage manager used. Those is who should have yes. Yeah and I never promised them yes. Garin was just was clearing my throat but also was that I was at Costco and that same thing guy walks up to get a package that my friend bought. Oh hold on pop some on deliver that grabs it pops off a lawyer just a fellow. A approach works there. Listen how old the sixties late forties early fifties. Maybe two super those at a costco situation again stage stage manager any age. I'm happy with it But as you get Author Brian had his reading glasses on. That looked like swifty. Lazar interesting you know. Love it crazy. Glad they that's they look on him. You know Wells Marcus. LA- Mona's on the show that Elliott and I like the profit He's he's wearing reading glasses more and more these days and he has big thick black sorta Harry Carey style and But they look good on them. You got the right if it looks good. Now I've struggled with this because because I've now need reading glasses but I it's annoying to remember them. They must make this where it's like Like by focal but the top is nothing thing in the bottom is reading so like if I wanted to wear glasses all the time. Oh yes but just the only the bottom. Doesn't it. Okay absolutely. Do I get that classes stores doors but do they like off the shelf at CVS. Or do I have to believe are Amazon. Yes I would recommend Amazon. I don't know if I would like that though because I have noticed like even if I just have them on like down like this I don't like that I guess I get used to it but I don't like the Nicole Wallace. Yeah I don't know it's awkward and I don't like seeing out of the corner bottom corner my eyes like everything's blurry weird until I look at something close when you wear your reading you. You know you're supposed to wear them there. Yeah I mean you're literally but this is how you wear your glasses so that when you look down your reading and then you look up but I if I'm doing it for a long time like at a baseball they're like glass and that's probably not good. Luckily we only draft twice a year two different once a year each league you mentioned it. I don't enough. We actually bought. Or what what. You're on the year on Andy Richter's podcast right No I don't know what it's GonNa released nevermind them well. I recorded. Look out for that three questions. That was yeah recorded. Also recorded at George Jordan. Jesse go that's going to be coming out. Shortly making the rounds I would imagine that I did. What did I do? Last week. came out onto Alwa- joyner radio did that And then into some other one off book of course with Elliot and did a great job. Yeah guys been getting some good feedback on congratulations. You deserve it. You do great on that for all the Shit you get the message boards about this show or direct emails that I get at the right into my mailbox or the or the white powder that I get my boy. Wait what I will tell you. This Eliot that Somebody complimented your work on Jimmy's records and tapes And they said this is my favorite Elliott work. I don't have to listen to them. That's what somebody thought was okay to email me and you thought you would share it with me. 'cause I never would have known. Oh yeah sorry full disclosure. That never happened. Offer humor offering. Wasn't that fun. Did it or covering your tracks. Now you'll never know of one or seven people or zero seven people send that email to me. The very specific civic number seems to be. That's always use the number seven. That's my that's my guy detective and she says the more specific people are the more likely They're lying Because because when you went if about if I said what did you do three weeks ago on Monday. Oh I was on Monday At nine forty five. I was remember turning all right because Chris Cuomo is on the radio and I immediately. I was ready to get after it. Yeah one hundred percent. I'm with you. You never taught Todd told us you had a friend that it was a detective. Yeah I think you have the LAPD now. I think she's moved to Detroit but but she was She was a you know Regular Giller officer and then she studied and became a detective as you did that for a year or two and sounds like us right she did a reverse Axel Foley Hospital. Yeah from here to Detroit. He went from Detroit town city. Cops it'd be the reverse of that would as good co- oh that actually they are really going to do. You're a what would it be a fourth. Yeah Beverly Hills. Yeah maybe that would be a fun. He goes back. Yeah that jacket and now he's all L.. Afi He's looking I k. l.. And they'll make fun of fun. I know he's going to say a lot of other different things as well as twenty twenty ups at all. But that'd be an interesting way for Eddie Murphy. The person to do sort of An embedded addressing of his problematic standup from yesteryear. Like he could he could be the guy going guys. You can't say that. Yeah because like all of his buddies from Detroit we grew up with presumably aren't politically correct at all. And they're throwing the F. Word around and he's like guys come on can. We can't do that. Well here comes. Actual stood in a comedy than the job has to be then they they just go even harder on on him like that would be the funny thing also very appropriate the more watchable. Yeah I'm in on that better times man but times when is set right live. When is he hosting that? I was thinking about. I thought it was supposed to be around Christmas like now. I I think the last episode of the seat of the year so we got a couple of weekends. We got Scarlett Johansson this coming weekend. I didn't watch this last one. Yeah Yeah who is this. Last month anyways Jaylo Jennifer Lopez who is fifty years old and they do one thing during her monologue. That made Oliver and I laughed. Like idiots did did you say gary no I heard it was terrible. Who what was terrible? The whole episode. Who'd you hear that from twitter somewhere? Somebody maybe facebook. I saw a lot of that on the Internet Internet. You liked it. We were only were passed the monologue into a couple of sketches. And I didn't think it was as bad as the Internet was saying was December twenty first by the ways. Eddie Murphy's every Christmas there we go Eddie Murphy they gumby what else you Mr Robinson they could be. They could do a parody movie with Tom. Hanks question it's him that would be it'll be it'll be a digital short. Yes that that'd be great. It's a no brainer and it's going to be so funny no brainer and it'll be so oh funny says the poster. I was just GonNa say the same thing be said that it was like I realized I'm just doing you just said Oh. Oh I'm dumb maybe I could As the show as ours because now Garin sitting over there. Everything's changing. Maybe we have all of the show to the point where I'm not even the room. I'm just at home and I'll say something and then I'll say something in your ear and you just repeat all. That's the best way to do this. And you would still talk as well or you would occasionally only when I when I have a thought I'll say it into my microphone and you'll hear it only you hear it and then and then if you like it you use it if you don't I so that we moved him him over here so I could see him you going off site is going to makes no sense but It would make my life easier so you know what really makes. No sense was ever having him over here that that never made since well when I see him over here you know. It's weird. When it was a couch he should've at least been on the other side of the couch was purely a wiring situation Jewish wiring? It was just because of the literally the length of the cord to his headset. Yea I used to be across the floor right. Yeah it's yeah everything's Nice now man. We spent some time in here on Friday Make it a guessing it up for you nice by the way your star wars jacket is in there so that you could take that home and that no no burn it. Whatever you plan on doing with that thing I can wear? It can wear to the episode nine Opening night that's coming up. It is no congratulations. It's you guys. I've been meaning to rewatch all of the the movies and I just haven't had any time haven't even watched one of them all at all all eight or just the three. I was only going to go four five six seven eight. Okay I hear who you are. I'm a guy who doesn't want to acknowledge the prequels and I don't feel the need to watch rogue one or or Solo even though I I like them both but I don't consider them part of the the saga cast all right. Let's see how that new seat works with you. Getting you recommend he comes over here. Of course sits there comfortably please. Point Out Mr Part Assistant. You've got got a new location. Eight shock on that you know what there's so many benefits there's less lush shuffling for him to get the door. I did think like because he's so slow. It's nice that he has to take steps. That will be given more time to talk to the states hurtful full manner. You know because he's so slow just talking logistics guys Walker Taco coughing. His way in Brad Morris comes in with and not very nondescript. Hats can't probably can't decide us. What poked cupboards that Jacksonville Minor League cap? I think think it's time that we all a little more attention to the little guy. Well we can't read because they're taking forty one of those teams away from us. I know what's happening. The major the League Baseball is getting rid of it. I think I think I'm forty one. They're getting rid of forty one. Minor League teams. Wow and some of them are like successful teams and others are urban cities. Like if you get rid of our team literally five thousand people will lose their job. I don't know why are you like it's the dumbest brand morts your thoughts. My thoughts are a I never liked people losing jobs. So that's the first thing. And then the second thing is I accommodate from a very personal place because I spent a season as a PA announcer for the Joliet jackhammers which independently team and wait a minute. Most Fun the most fun job I've ever had one of the worst paying jobs I've ever had. So when you're saying losing five thousand jobs it's seasonal work. That's that's true but it's the most fun seasonal but it's not seasonal to the the Front Office Office for sure yes right. I want to hear more about this. you've been the announcer will do that when you get them on to the microphone because that sounds like a gig that I would murder somebody for I would love to have that Gig. Probably Quality CA triumph. Personally enjoying hearing that. That's now something he's had once at Eh Gate In Calgary I don't know what he was shooting there maybe Fargo Z.. In the first season Fargo. Maybe not. She must've been shooting something there but I was there with a group of people we were on the road. Touring doing show. He was so uncomfortable to have to be with just normal. Most civilians at a normal commercial gate at American and I kept thinking I will now spend the rest of the time between whenever I saw him and boarding just to see if anyone at all recognizes him now one person nobody forget about bothering him. No one even had any idea who that was so then just became became a one sided game of cat-and-mouse that he was playing with himself in this gate. Head down books and papers. Why aren't we already boarding? This is fantastic. Meanwhile Jim Belushi Larry Joe Campbell. You know I would say those are three three different levels of notoriety round. Nasr Eilly no one of those too. Okay okay well then so jim just the idea that. Yeah exactly so the idea that Jim who I think does a healthy sense of self self I think that was an exciting. And the he didn't see Reiser reiser. And see him. They were approaching things very differently. I really enjoyed that so then now when they turn on my TV. Because I do still have just straight up old school cable Which means that when I wanNA watch something and Netflix Amazon? Hulu I have to to go through a weird gauntlet with my remote control spectrum news which which one thing is spectrum news a little better than I thought it was pretty good. He better be really good okay and so but it's still disconcerting to see them promoting this huge at least because of my age. I'm like Madam Oh you hear this is strange for me Pretty good. It's actually really good. He is is a matinee idol. Have about the other night. He's just flawless. Paul Reiser. He's good he's a great actor knowing everything about him is he doesn't look like he's acting effort he he's really really good natural and Loved in Beverly Hills Cop also just. He's fantastic. He's in the sweet spot for my age bracket so that was excited. I was like well. Here's a chance for me. I mean Calgary. Let's he wanted nothing to do with anyone there including you were on the same the same plane and doing project not at all. Yeah that would have been even worse at one gate. We were you working with any of those people. Yeah Jam in. Larry who is Larry Larry Joe Campbell. WHO's a jam of a guy and you should have him on your show? He's really from until thirty. Two seconds ago you need to know of him so he was Jim's sidekick a guy on according to Jim he's the second city Detroit Guy He's also in hall pass. He's the the guy who poops in the sand trap in hall pass. which guys if you haven't seen that movie please? It's the holiday season pass A couple of good hangers scenes gags in that movie. But Yeah Larry Joe's Super Guy I'm trying to think Eve's on the Orville for the first couple of seasons. He's a very if you think I'm I'm a pop up on TV shows. Now that you know who Larry is or he's you know the name still. Don't thank you You've got a picture of this guy really funny actor actor but also even better guy he is a really good human being and I used to bit when we travel on the road. So Jim put together actually rob. WHO's a friend of mine from growing up in Chicago? Jim's son he together. A kind of a touring show and we used to go travel around to those shows. Every you know every Indian casino looking for us to come in and just according to Jim fans who were like okay. Hey Guess we'll watch whatever else. They have to offer us for forty five minutes but we a lot of fun on the road. And what you do fun bit. Where we'd you know? Take the little trams tramps from from gate to gate in airports and I would Surf in the middle and acclimated know them. So I would just be appearing to people on the tram like Akaki guy who thinks he's good at surfing on those tramps putting the bags down in proudly standing holding nothing Larry though Larry like that bit a lot so that was really for him delirious. Great how Joe Campbell because of riser. And he's amazing Internet about you and I need to watch the new one in spectrum news. Alex Cullen Alex Cohen is like one of the anchors. She's on KPC. So I was like. Oh that's what that person. It looks like it's harder for years but that kind of tells you they took someone from public radio and that's what I appreciate about it. It doesn't have that like Cable News Vibe at all it's very mignon in good. Yeah I'll do a great job. Yeah I like every it looks good. I think that looks good brand. Nobody's talking about about the parents Garin you've got a picture of Larry Joe so that I could put this topic to bed. Yeah but trying to find out that you guys would recognize. I definitely recognize them. Okay Okay Yeah Yeah Nope I. I don't know I could see him. Getting Calgary and just keep walking. That's nice only Reiser reiser advisor. Is it possible. It wasn't Paul. I am so bad at so many things were what you are good at one of the things I'm good at is a face and I'm not always good at putting the name with the face mask boy. Am I with the face which I don't know what I can do with that. Nothing nothing it was up to spot. Paul Reiser. In a Calgary airport. Feel like we got. That's yeah oh no. It was Paul Paul and that was sort of the face he was making could when I tried to make contact with them like do not look my way. He's a very nice man. I believe everything about it including that he was just having a day where he he didn't want to be bothered and he's entitled to that I have those days all the time and my kids totally disregard that of course I was in the airport in Las Vegas once a a recognized. Gino Vanilla. The Great Canadian crooners finale and said I'm GonNa make his day over and tell them how much I like his new album which was percent true and league gave me. That really really was thank you in a way like I'm bothering and I was sure dude. No the last time somebody twenty years younger than you came up and I said I like your new album you embrace. You can help me here on. He he should have. He should've asked to take a photo with you right. Yeah we'll be Gino Finale. Frankly just sounds it's like a joke A character created. I believe it hit hits bread really yes like what would I know Probably the biggest one you would know is a big disco he called. I JUST WANNA stop. Do Swan Stop. Oh that's great. That's great song. Oh Wow wow. I recognize them at an airport V. A. N.. I L I you know I never know if it's one I don't never know because okay when's one too. Yep Yep but as it is. Va Not be and it is van Nelly Van Ellie. How does he feel about Millie? Do We know that joke. He's anything like me. He didn't like you introducing yourself so you wouldn't like that Pun. Don't care for that at all. No what I'm doing here is I. I'm going to my artists for this reason. I believe I have Gino in here. because things will download yes we look at two different ways of boy. That's confusing. And then they they both gave you the photo of him. So it's common that it comes up. You Use Bonnet him. You knew right away that she never nellie this is exciting and got a little buddy some butterfly. Yeah I gotTa tell them and you knew so so on the trip over to address him realize like I know exactly what I'm GonNa do with the deeper Kat. It's the newer stuff. Brian did the Chemo. Prior yes and I bought it. Because I'm a fan Dan right and it's like hey. I looked at the new nine hundred ten people. Probably they see sting at an airport. They're going to go up and neither talk police. Or maybe one of the early Solo Solo albums talking about the most recent thing about the ship. What's the setting up the last shift ship that he wrote like a musical? Yeah yeah which was the Amundsen and I was sort of curious. But I I don't think it's good Broadway. What happened was he was in it and then And then it was selling like crazy and then he left the cast and because the show's not good people stopped going and then we got to bring back rush thing back back. They started selling tickets. Who knows maybe we go see it and you do you think it's terrific now it's gone? I think it's already done that. Ship has sailed. It's a term you know I love to see who would love that joke. Gene of Anneli haw. I'll tell them editor reports travel by plane. Maybe you've never know I've been nervous. What did what did he say to you? Exactly I'll tell you but in a way like you'll get lost. Yeah it's not a good feeling to feel that Yeah I did. I found myself ordering a Muffin next to David Crosby a couple of years ago. This is fun to say and it really happened. And and he turned to me he turned to me and said come here a lot and this place usually doesn't take nick this long and I thought this is my opening and the second I turned to him and he he saw that I registered. Who he was he he turned away like oops? I shouldn't have anything now. I regret this and I gotta go gator just enough to not know meal the House before I enjoy following him on twitter because he is not afraid to tell you his boss on anybody at any time. He's got the right attitude he's he was way ahead of the curve on that. Ah I feel like that's now the president's thing like it was David Crosby's I actually. They've got some similarities. These think senility to some degree. Probably think so. You think that the Cross has the I think he might have a little touches something because I think he turned to me and maybe thought I was his wife. You know what I mean like. I come here all the time. And she's going like yeah I'm here with you you know But then again sharp sharp in that he decided. Nah Absolutely. Want nothing to deal with you. Oh Yeah for sure. Yeah now all this conversation it's making me think we might need to drop a theme song in here Elliott. I don't know it seems like we're talking about something That's right in the wheelhouse house of this show. Maybe I come was perfect. Circus him listener breath not wearing headphones and so he lifted the headphones to hear. That deserve deserve that. I really do our work over the weekend I worked on Saturday. I Love Chris. I love retail at Christmas time. I love it are you enjoying it. I've been kind of fighting off this whole thing again so I've been in and out but yeah it was. It's what a hamburger's all about buddy. I had to. Yeah last night you we net line. You tolerate that lie or insider was obnoxious actress which one over here down in deep van Nuys at the plant. Oh you over at the plant. Yeah there's a movie theater. They're they're going to that movie theater. You did a long time ago. That's where I saw. The transformers movie is the Dicey. Is that movie theater Dicey Spine. Okay Yeah I haven't had any issues is there. We went to Home Depot. That's all I was out in that area TRUMPF. We did manage over the weekend on twitter but that was a lay ear joke about You know trump over the weekend said we are What was the exact quote? I want to pull it because it was Hang on got away with words. Yeah he is no question a he. The thing in that press conference Matt Word we always talk about like. If you didn't hate him you would appreciate like like. He was talking but light bulbs and he's at one point he goes to make you look orange. And if you're like me you don't want that. And then he goes so we're GONNA have to change the light bulbs in some of the rooms at the White House. And if you like the guy you'd go look at me self deprecating bracketing. He's having fun then goes I've actually like okay. Makes me so mad when he shows that side because it's like I know it's counter to his actual essence which is to not take to to to never have a sense of humor about himself right but So here's what We're we're in a situation where we're we're very we're looking very strongly we a sinks and showers and other elements of bathrooms. Yeah so I tweeted out at home depot where. I'm looking very strongly showers and other elements of bathrooms and I chose Home Depot. Because it's a trump thing right and you shouldn't go there like the one hundred percent of responses eighty percent got it ten percent Telling me don't shop shop there because the guys who were the other ten percent Give me advice on what sink I should. I'm not really at Home Depot you dom but at least some of those people colluded get. It probably didn't know what you were referencing. So they were like. Oh you're literally percent. They didn't understand so the so. The Home Depot CEO or founder is a trump supporter order. I thought it was going to be that. Trump doesn't like people going Home Depot because there are lots of day laborers and stuff. That's not what I believe. That gentleman gave to think he's a donor you've got it got but I think it might be one of those things where he founded the company but he's not actively involved got anymore. I forgot I wanted to say that because I go to Home Depot. We on it's again. It's one of those things where you don't go to Home Depot because you want to punish that billionaire would then there's all those people that work there you're punishing them. We got a quote our friend. Elliot Hockberg Berg over in there in the corner. You can't be on every right. It's true I had a friend Who recently said to me I saw you were You Oh you got to meet the owner of the cubs. Tom Ricketts and I said Yeah. And I knew it was going and He's like so you're okay to like sit in a seat if it's like the cubs give you a free seat to a game. Are you okay sitting in the absolutely and he goes really because you know when he's listing all and I'm going I I know and here's the thing and they're about to be on their new. TV deal is with sinclair media. which is you know? That's a tough one. And so he goes you know what are you going to Louis. You know like stopping accompanying. I'M NOT GONNA stop being a cubs fan. I said I don't watch a lot of games at this point in my life so I can Kinda we all create these little rivers and tributaries around all the bullshit that we often face each day. Because we'd be paralysed he couldn't do anything If you had to go. I can't do this this this this this and because of my political religious views it just gets to be hard because we know more than we've ever known about the intricacies of all these things fifty years ago. No no one knew who backed all the things that we rate and what the political significance of all these things were answer. That ignorance was bliss. I saw that on a pillow. I will say the beauty of having the MLB package is that you never have to watch the cubs on Sinclair's watch the other exactly watch the the other folks exactly right enjoy anyway because I probably would not watch it on sinclair because they are just evil are they. They they will remind mind you pretty regularly of that. If you're like you know how bad is it. Oh it's real bad yup. Yeah that's not great and that actually made me the reason I met Ricketts it. 'cause I have a friend who works at the team not in the front office or anything and and he was he's a very liberal Guy And he's like I don't I don't know how to feel about this like not great like it's not a great feeling but you don't like I've you know I grew up. I think I told you this when I met you possibly because We were talking about socks park comiskey whatever my cousin. My cousin works for the White Sox. I grew up going to SOx Games James I be as my dad worked at a job where they had sox tickets. That was when I was four. Five six seven around the time was eight or nine and the cubs games were on during the day and watch those after school. I also realized that I lived a lot closer to Wrigley than I did. Two socks partners so that was how I switched over over. It'll be a lot easier if I had never switched because this is like it feels bad. That's like Jerry reinsdorf present to you don't you don't no. I have not heard that. He's an asshole as a bulls fan. I feel like he's not great at being an owner you know He's very loyal always very very loyal. I mean like Kenny. Williams is good gracious. That's something else and I i. I won't throw my cousin under the bus. 'cause he's giving me some fun little tidbits but suffice to say is that what it is. Suffice to say He he his loyalty. Trump's good common sense common sense. What has to honor that I would say so and I would say that that? I don't know his politics but a lot of billionaires. I tend to lean more conservatively But I I would think he wouldn't do a TV deal with sinclair. And I believe as a slight late conspiracy theorists that the cubs in the Ricketts had a handshake to do that deal as part of getting into buying that team in the first I play because that's who they've been Tom Ricketts is a super nice guy and would never talk politics or get into any of that with you and his sister. Laura is a big democratic donor. She's gay she's very liberal in her politics The Dad is the one joe. I think the one who's like the Big Super Pac guy up but I'm Kinda like you. You could have done that on Apple. TV You could have done it with any one and they would have given you the same money. So then why do I do. And then it's kind of a bummer. It's the same jury rancher. Why continue to have robin inventory manager when it's obvious he's not good at the job? Oh you're to wait six years PERP. I just didn't understand how they get a letter. I'm Rodman manage after the you know Nolan Ryan and Knuckle Sandwich on the head thing. It just was too embarrassing. I loved him as a player. But I'm like this. This can't stand. You can't have that be a thing that people can always get what about that. Ah Yeah Yeah all the Ryan J Hillbilly a Garin. Good luck to you this weekend actually just remembered something yes. I almost almost had a Jimmy Pardo incident at game stop year. We go through something. Yeah what happened again. Stop there was we. We went in there just right before we went to eat and just to kill a few minutes. I was waiting for a starbucks to get made and I saw a Jason Blum funk OPA but I'm like oh I'm GonNa get so I grabbed it. I got online. It was me someone behind me literally was standing there for ten minutes while this one person kept helping these people but there were two other employees who were just sitting there putting stickers on games. No I'm like and Eliason Eric with Aaron. What's going on what are you doing? I'm like I don't know I'm just waiting to pay. These guys are all. You're doing nothing. Nobody wants to do anything and they're like why don't you just bike like Bienne Lozano. I've never seen anywhere else. I can only get it here then. We finally checking here here Amazon. Like all right so I just walked out I put it on. The counter walked out getting it from Amazon door. I showed them I. Did you know about guarantees. The only his first name it gives you the era I again. This old WHO's Jason Blum pretty of for the Hollywood the movie and he's got a he's got a fungal? Believe it or not. I don't know how to get that when you sue literally. Why like? It's it's getting to the point where we have to be insulted that they haven't made fun co POPs of us because everyone else in the world has one and we bank. Yeah Brad do you have one. I don't but you're making me wonder and reach out about it. Should be like a character. Actor one iphone series. I mean like if playing house had made maybe more the seasons in which by the way great show being half the audience appreciated your there. We are new here for reason. The yeah you would have been in one crusoe. Yeah well. That is amazing wiser. Why is Jason plummer bloom? Have I don't get that. Actually I really don't just because of the other other sort of like media mogul J.J. Abrams okay. There's they have a mack. Knock Talk Spider. Ham has won. So some Jason Blum is is a Bob Eiger one or probably coming coming. That is a weird one of adjacent bloom because WHO Sheryl Sandberg heels if feels a little off track but I guess yeah collectors about collect. Yeah he has a following because there you go type of Fan your Horford. We talked about The News Star Wars Land. What's Star Wars Galaxies Golic? Alexandra haven't been yet but apparently like they were talking about. How the the level of Sort of playacting from the from the Disney The CAST has kind of gone down. I've read an article that they're scaling it back. Because they realized like the general it was not as popular as they expected it to be and I think they realized maybe one of the reasons is the average Disneyland. Attendee doesn't give that much of a shit about star wars. WanNa be immersed in because I I went when it opened and it really was like. It wasn't like Disneyland. It was like you're in a star wars movie everything around you and every person who worked there and even the the names aims of things on menus were just like indecipherable for from a human perspective. It was just like wow. This is so they've changed. Some of the names back to like hamburger like this is just going to be more like Tomorrowland. We go to frontier land. We go to galaxies age. I know it's still more intense than those places but I think they're trying trying to meet people halfway a little special days then because I agree because I definitely like I do WanNa bound over there and disappointed. Yeah I finally made it over there. Yeah last week and do we talk about here. Are Your twitter feed. I was not. I was really disappointed. Your boss aren't getting it. It felt like it had been open for a decade and nobody cares anymore. Wow it was like what this is. What are we doing here? Yeah yeah there used to be a thing where there. There's a place where you can build your own lightsaber. But because the village is being is occupied by the empire or the new the first order in in this world that you step even do that no one would tell you. Oh Yeah you WANNA make lights ever go there. And now they just so no lights right there they they overshot the ren faire on the yeah. Yeah wow that's exciting now. I'm sad that I didn't go early enough to catch throttle version of that. Did you go into the CANTINA. No Oh see I feel like the Cantina is probably still a little bit more like that. But yeah I don't know like I guy I I don't know when they made the switch over because I went twice in the second time. One of the dudes like came over and started playing Bach with just bought this deck of cards. It's like a star wars card game and he was like. Oh I'll show you how to play that. He's tired but he was talking to a person he wasn't trying to be in character. He was just like. Oh Yeah. It's really fun and then you'd like showing us so I appreciate that but I guess now I think think about it wasn't like he wasn't speaking wookey or something talking so all right so you talked about that at the. Party's very festive. Yeah I didn't take an opportunity to sing this time around because like I say what are they doing carry okay. There was the there was a bit with the way that that bar is kind of weird and it was sort of like hard to get into that spot. There was like a choke point so I couldn't even conveniently get in there but you already had that tickles. Less than you need to do is get choked. Yeah why don't you just take a sip of water and then Sing Asong. You're the best singer there that might not necessarily be true but I don't know who else was there. There was there this year because then and you would not be at the top. I don't know who sent Arosh era isn't that Shakira under PAT's face. Paul Reiser Shandra Shantou arosh enter That's one of the cats. Sounds like. Oh Man Chitra. She's down in all of this. The final pop. All right so you did that. You went to the party over the weekend. What else Well I I watched a couple of news. I did watch frozen to I got to watch it at the The Alamo draft house sandwich and drink as well Yeah it was. Here's the funny thing so So I heard of the show Joseph and his wife Ash they do some stuff over there. She's like one of the management team. I think now are there Associate very very kindly Had A bunch of US joint So so there's a rule. I don't know if you've heard the stories like you're not supposed to talk because it will interfere with the movie and they will throw you out. You're GONNA do right. Shut up that's great. I think that's fine and you were looking at me you like. I had trouble with that. I did not did not do that touchy I. Don't think you would do. I think Erin would yes I do. But here's the thing I know you would. And maybe it's to compensate for this in some way but it's really cool to have a person bringing food and stuff like that And they have a system. Where like you put a little piece of paper up if you need assistance? Or what have you but when when when these very nice people who are working very hard coming they have to like craw almost belly crawl across the they don't interfere with the screen and and then like her at one point the the the person who's delivering food Brought some French fries or something and they put it on my little table but I had an order French fries and so I'm sitting there going. How do I how I do I do this? How do you communicate and by the way so I put a piece of paper up? How am I going to tell him? This isn't this isn't where we're in the middle of the movie. There's people singing on a screen or that people but animated let it go exactly It was it was disconcerting completely distracting. Like there's no way that I can concentrate on the movie in that city. I don't like I don't like this survey. I've never been to one of those but I don't like the serving food in a theater and I don't think that were. I think it's fine. If you if you limit it to in front of the movie like you get all the stuff you're gonna get just like you can't go back to the concession stand in the middle and if you want to but the idea is you got to move you get you just set up camp right so same deal set up camp with the sandwich and drink right you want more you gotta you gotta walk out or you just done. I'm pitching. Don't change the seating equipment at all and only do piping hot soups. Yeah just like just like it's like hand still no talking a- wow that's crazy. It's a little weird threw me off but but I was fine. Wow that's terrible. I don't agree. It was terrible and and all the people this was weeks after he had already been out for a while and people gave their opinions. We all enjoyed it. was there a song that I left singing. No although there was at least one person who was it Go into the unknown into the unknown. They kind of liked that one. They thought that and I bet that's the one that Zoe's been blasting nonstop open and singing nonstop. And so I'M I. My defenses are are wearing down on on that and on the movie in general. I'm like hey it was all right like I didn't hate it. I just I was you. Yeah it was fine if other little abrupt as far as setting up the whole plot at the beginning like oh all of a sudden there's this piece of information that for some reason we didn't know about the entire time the first movie but then once I got past that I was there a couple of very heavy plot dumps in that movie. They were very concentrated in now with kids. I do feel like there's there's a little bit of like no matter what I think the move from an entertainment perspective. Are there a couple of lessons. That they're leaving there with that are actually like Chunky. Decent isn't lessons. I felt like they did have that. I definitely don't think like hit all the quadrants that they're always. You know saying that they will in this version but but Yeah and then the Olav thing I mean I was telling Matt earlier We we tried to go see it an opening weekend again in the middle of the movie one of my daughters had a big asthma attack She's fine but it was It meant when I knew in that moment I was less concerned turned. I knew she'd be okay but also knew we would. Now be seeing that movie one and a half times and it was like this is tragic so then we we when we had to go back as we went back last weekend in that audience. The second audience was much more vocal very excited and neagh big lake biting down on the laugh lines. I was I didn't realize had this many hard jokes. Maybe it's still doesn't but these people are loving it Yeah so I don't know and and people I don't know I feel like I feel like this. Is the general vibe about that movie which is pretty good you know. I haven't heard anyone be like it's better than I know. That's anyone will say that. I think all along like frozen one end frozen to the whole time. That thing that they've been struggling with is like what what is this really like th th. I think it took them a long time to figure out the story of the first one and even at the end of the day it was still kind of like this is kinda weird with some holes in it but it's fine unlike the music papers over that in the second one. It's the same kind of thing it's like. What are we really doing interns three is? They're not biological sister for they. Get together takes adjourn. Wondered like before when they were just talking about making a sequel at this is the time to give Elsa give like a Disney princess a the female life partner. I think it's time to do it. It's seems like this is the one and they didn't do it this morning. Data leave room on the runway right for the third one. But I I will say the lesson I. It's interesting like asking the kids like so what what was the story about. Would you like most and it and it was like you know. I've got two daughters so it's like the the sister first thing resonates for them and always you know looking out for your sister. Your sibling They weren't the other one which I think is like the the the larger sort of you know acceptance and understanding of of different groups of people like I was like that's going to be the one that they they kind of go like like well. That was something that was completely over their heads. So I don't know where the age demarcation is for for picking up on that and so he started going. Well maybe a lot of the ignorant parents out there. Maybe that'll Pierce brain. But I'm like no I feel like if you're ignorant and you're not getting any of that. Yeah so they probably wouldn't get the. It's okay to apologize for something. You did wrong message. I don't think that's that one's coming through man. Sorry spoiler spoiler. They'll make sense. You saw the play last night. We went to the musical the FRO I. I'm being I'm being told I'm going to be going to that too. You are that you know what after it's a weird thing to see that the frozen to movie and and then go to this which I hadn't seen the frozen one movie and six years or a long it's been and it reminded me like. Oh yeah you know what there is and my daughter was like five in the first one came out or whatever and so it was very like it was an intense moment in in all of our lives that she was so into the first one. This is the frozen musical okay because I saw a one act version at Disney. I saw that too. Yeah and I was very impressed with that. That was bet. That's the best version of frozen. That's crazy hits. That's right. Yeah because it doesn't doesn't waste time with the plot that it doesn't need is annoying anyway. The movie does and it doesn't add. New Song delivers the goods. Which Yep no thank you? It's all the new songs do is slow down the plot. You don't enjoy to begin with and they're not as good as the songs you recognize and their new although a couple of them are fine but the couple all of them are like man like I literally said Intermission I was like not every beat. NEEDS US on. You don't have to be like we're going to go up the mountain. We're going up the mountain mountain like you're just going up the mountain dew. It doesn't matter like we don't have to have two minutes of it but But yeah I mean technically very impressive. It's it's a very the Sit there and enjoy the production of it. Because I'm just going to tell my family you went and said it was good and we don't need again. You could tell sly right. Matt that liked it and I said we don't need to get that song. Let it go in there. They did the one thing that I walked out of the first movie. I was like why the hell does the for the the movie. Not End with a reprise of let it go and do it. They do it and doing it. Great feeling good about it. Yes but it go garin. That's the song All right well sounds like a nice weekend. Also saw the Irishman. I watched through and win sitting good for you. We're GONNA fucking metal would. Did you hear anything all right. Well Tell Matt later on But that's great. Good good for you. The Guy got a big weekend plan. We wish it wasn't fun for Jimmy as it could have been you. You'd see frozen to you. Didn't see the thought you'd seen frozen to. I'm sorry I know my son is. He's aged out of it. You have no reason to see it. Oh you you're making the right choice. Had had he yesterday said you know what let's go see that on and maybe not enjoyed it or enjoyed it either way but Here's zero interest. Here's a question. If a lease gets a screener of it and I loaned it to you know which I would not do. Because they're not mind to give nor that would be against service publicly. I'm saying that would not happen. Theoretically only way I would ever see. That movie is an emotion picture house and I will never take the time to put that in and watch them. You mean because it's demands it because it's such a work of art you need to see on the big screen fair enough screeners. Screener season is exciting in my neighborhood because apparently I live on a street. That is both very friendly. Neighbourly But also not industry Heavy in terms of the the Occupying of the of the houses. So that means I am now the second I'm the library and I'm great with it. My issue issue becomes like I'm also being asked to kind of give a mini reviews ahead of delivering a lot of pressure on and and I can't keep up with it and my across the street neighbor. Great Guy is a location manager but the screeners. But he's also he's the first one. He's kind of the subcontractor contractor that distributes throughout the neighborhood rocky. And what are you. So he comes over and the first couple of give them was something and rocket man and he goes awesome so two days later he's ready to make a change inside the city and they get through pretty fast over there and then they start circulating around the block. Would you think thank he goes well. The one was good and then Rocket man this guy's a huge music fan too old dead head Rocket Man and almost had to turn it off and I'm like wow I've heard things about it I haven't seen it yet. What was the thing and he goes? It took liberties I didn't enjoy it. Eh Yeah I almost had to turn it off and I go You knew that Elton John was gay rights. Just WanNa make sure and he goes well. Yeah ha ha but also he. Wasn't that gay that they made them into in the movie and I go. Here's the thing about him. I haven't seen the movie yet. There's no one gayer than on part of his thing is like he really blew it out and said let's show you all the fun that this can be. It's a party and he goes no. Oh no he was never as easy was in this movie. And I'm like he's talking about the relationships he's talking about the flamboyance that's insane. He's got no idea what he's talking so he started talking to me saying you know when I saw Bohemian rhapsody. Now there's a movie that got it right and I'm like okay. And then Eh. He goes because they didn't do the thing l.. John had a band and I'm like no one thinks about Elton. John's Queen was a band. Freddie murkiest very much at the top of the ban but it was like Elton John is known much more. It's not the same thing as same exact thing. They totally got rid of the band. I'm a band guy and I'm like I feel like there's a weird. There's a weird a there was a weird thing about the homosexuality in it for him and I was like that's interesting also. Does this mean I don't need to shuffle. Many News as quickly it also. Maybe you shouldn't do the reviews back. I'm more curious now like this is exciting. But it's a lot of pressure And then I learned things about my neighbors basically that. I'm not sure that I need to know rocky rocky at could figure it and that's why I was kind of teased him. A little bit about it did you give them a call me by my name. You know what I see him. Now you're onto something. Yeah I should start slipping in some of the ones from years past that I think might Harry. Everything is is absolutely there. It was theory of everything was was the other one. What what are you talking about the invitation to an absolute no? He's he's already know from him. He's not an Eddie. Read main guy so I gotta I really jokes. But he's a tough. It's a tough. It's a tough thing to be that guy in the neighborhood. I think that's a lot of pressure you know I'd like I'm ready to move just because the screener season You know and then it's like I don't know I've been I you know I just want. It makes me WANNA just slip in other movies that I have in our life Max to the White House or whatever. Is The dog movie. This was it takes that rises resent enjoy. Here's the thing about the dog That's not how German Shepherds Act. I think it is the weird entitlement to friends of yours that I don't get the screeners that they feel. It's your responsibility to give them to what he got. which ones you got that? And how is it. I don't I don't know I'm not supposed to be giving these to anybody and the fact that you're badgering being I think I think the only move now is to have a buddy come over in men in Black Tommy Lee Jones or will Smith get up or maybe have a pair of people dress up shop. FBI agents and make a big increase scene and look what happened to this guy and then then coffey take me away. What happened in Brad? Brad gave away the rocket man screener. He didn't give enough disclaimers about on John's sexuality and they he's in prison now. Ten years was three hundred hours. Free like the the penalties always very arbitrary amount of money. That's like Austin powers big now but it's not it's ten years. I was in prison in like one million dollars or something. Yeah what it is well. It's all I guess. I assume in a few years because a few of the students do this now. It's all going to be streaming streaming sharing at that point. Let's Amazon sending out the Mrs Mazel. Yeah the volts going on to find room in my garage crazy and a friend of mine. WHO's A mother and a writer and whatever she she the smart thing on twitter and she's like you know what let's don't if you send these all to me I will take them to L. A.. USD and and and and she collected one hundred and fifty these that one and the the the other one the The modern loved one. which is yeah exactly I? I brought our stuff right over to that input right in the way I came with my my wife friend but I can't pull her name the woman whose house I it's right over here it's audrey talking about my friend. Your who's your friend. That did this audrey. That's not who I I did it with it. Sounds like beating can be. This is exactly I as I was bringing hours. It's up to the house and like well what he did on the door. What do you do when you're dropping Adam They're bringing to Elliot's D since they could use them for art supply. Awesome is there really nicely made these missed Mazel things like little chests you open it up and then inside or the DVDs and unnecessary trinkets. I think billions of dollars apps absolutely need to be spent. So she's like I acknowledged his knowledge. This is insane. If you bring into my house I will so then distribute them to LSD. So the kids can have very cool. Yeah that's also used to put their pencil yes But as I as I walked up to their house I don't. I don't know these people that you're not on their door. I don't know what to do and I look around and there's a pile of them right there to scramble. You take take the disks out before you drop them off. I don't know who did or didn't because I was gonna say someone else could find out. Oh that's where they get dropped off. I'm not the member of a guild now. I know where to go. Pick up all this right. The screeners giving you already got being a member of Amazon. So right right yeah like everyone can watch like there's no one in the screen actors guild or the PGA. That doesn't already subscribe to Netflix. No that's smart sing this year. which was they sent? They did send a few. This like the Irishman and and Marriage story or whatever but as hard disks but then they sent a card instead of sending all the right stuff as well. They sent a card that gives you like three months of subscription which they must've done the math on it and gone. You know these people already have subscriptions but will just do this and so you know I'm GonNa give it to a friend but it's If smart and also saved a ton of I would think money but also materials and you know that yeah. It's a big way I'd again. This is is Obviously some privilege that we absolutely absolutely Iowa's going Dick Heads. Maybe I don't I can't afford it and by the way like you know I'm still excited every time. MM This time of year. It comes because I'm like this is like the perk of being a yes healthcare but also like I get to see some stuff that I you know. I don't know that I would have gotten to see an end to honestly share with everyone in my neighborhood even rocketing rocky even rock. I'll give people at home atip Because my wife is in a thing called a CFO which is immersed in an ad animation studio ASIFA. Anybody can join a safer and if you join a CPA they will send you. Screeners of 'EM A C. I just like A. It's IT'S A it's not a union but it's the animation. I don't know what it's like a guild but it's not a guild because you don't have to be working in the industry anybody can join. Anybody can join us. Pay The dues in so doing this. Now it's probably more money than if you just went to you. See those movies but if you like the idea of getting them sent to your house before they let's see your stuff showing up in the mail that soil. The kid in me going on my someone when sending me movies. Yeah I prefer when they send you a little Hey you can go to the Ark Light and just Brit present this thing and you get to see absolutely absolutely well that that's that is what they I should be doing is just sending you a Lincoln. It's got little barcodes on it and you can go see all the stuff that right right. I like the I like the experience right to get French fries. Yeah I went to my fries. Number showed up at my table. Now that's my hamburger and my drink without my right. Yeah what did how did that get resolved. They they came over and then they hand you hand them back to that so so I gestured to the guy because he saw he saw the paper and I gestured at the fries he had. No idea was talking about you. Eliminate your face from underneath and I had to say he's mine and I was waiting for him to throw me out. No of course allowed to say that but again we're like I don't know a third of the way the film like you know If it spelt wrong and I was I was being followed a rule follower and also I have a voice carries and so you know but then again till Tuesday yes voices do Carry Shush fighting. I don't know I don't know I don't know about figuration. gration is really a weird two cats each other worth subside year. You've created a avoid. There's no middle ground. You know it'd be really good grow like a beard with it and that was like I can't. That's the weird thing about this thing Not that's not going to be an option on the menu for the moment. But I just I don't want to bother her to the edition and walked out but so So that is a development. So like the last We we talked before Matt but I think good place is the only show. Yes and So that was an adjustment. It's an adjustment. And what's exciting is in my mind at least wow. Oh Wow cool. Different kinds of roles maybe Be Fun to play villain. Li- understand how it works but for whatever reason it feels tells it doesn't feel natural yet part of it. Yeah that's the main thing so I'm I'm happy to be cast in something and have them do that for me. But I'm not walking into auditions wearing away. So yeah that's sort of what it is. Yeah definitely a fun. Interesting Weird Curve curveball. That is You know it's like I have friends that have survived cancer. I friends have survived cancer. It absolutely feels like a constant trick. Where any day that I'm feeling crappy about it? I'm like I can't feel that bad. I'm totally healthy but I have friends including some of whom have survived really more serious things in there like dude. You're allowed to feel bad if you're having a day like it is a big change until happening here career as well it is. It is but I will tell you like my kids for example. They've got two uncles. That are total chrome domes. So so you know there was one one of my daughters is like. I think you should grow your eyebrows back and I was like I love that idea. totally into it. I said I don't know if it's going to happen but I'm I'm take note. Thank you very much but like I was coaching their soccer team this year and I was wearing a hat. Which I- Jacksonville Suns But whatever had I had on in one of the kids I guess I hadn't had it off before and I took the hat off and it was like the record. You know Stopped in one of the kids. Not My daughter goes wide. You take your hat off. You just said I was hot and I said should I have not done that and she goes yes I would not take that said. Oh boy why and she goes. It does not look good see. This is the honesty that I really actually craven. Craven need right now. It's just a six year old Sophia. Go and yet. Don't do it. Not a good idea. So that's where that's at all right so go back out. Ah You're the voice of the Joliet Jackhammers Voice Joliet Jackhammers just a couple. He was for one season. Shared the job I with two other people. We rotated through the best story Outside of Pete rose Showing up in the concourse because his son Pete Junior was on that team game he would set up like a card table like lemonade. Stand and sell autographs for twenty five dollars a piece and I was like seems about right for so you know it's It's tough it's like you want the guy to be in the hall of fame as the hits all time hits leader he sending up a little card. Santa can't imagine he's hurting for money that that much anyway. So that is that the best story is was a day that I wasn't working there. which is ex cub brant Brown? What so this is independent league not affiliated head like Schaumburg Flyers Joliet jackhammers what have you saint. Paul are canaries. Whatever it was so these are guys that mayor played in? The majors is based out of this summit up to make the majors. Some of them played some of them played in are hoping to come back at the end of their careers. Some of them are guys that fell out of the farm farm systems for other teams. And they're still young and they have a real good shot. Brant Brown was a guy who Falls into the former category. where he he was a cub for a few years But we they hired us as funny is to come in and give a little just a little in places. Just add a little more so it was always like trying undefined. The level we we knew right away that the crowd was or wasn't in in stadium. This stadium not on radio not on TV. This coming up next like Brock Meyer. Okay okay. Exactly yes So my friend Kevin was doing this game with my other friend show and Ramp round came up in the first innings struck out swinging and they made like a whistling windy sound and he was on the opposing team. Right Fair enough Third inning becomes bobby strikes out again. Swinging you can see where this is going in the seventh inning comes up again and they do the same thing. He's out again and and the added a little more mustard I think now on her said something to the effect of like Hurricane Brown is you know Ah graced US once again. Whatever it is well he turns looks up at the booth and then walks into the dugout but somehow a minute later is knocking on the door of AH yeah in full uniform and pounding on the thing and they'll let him in and he's like he basically you know he reminded them that It was his livelihood and that he didn't appreciate The editorial But that was kind of exciting but actually love that It was it was one of those gigs where Juliet working at. It was really not about giving shit to the other team but it was fun and Myrlie Baseball. I will. You'll say It's what it's it's got a lot more of what taking your kids to a game should be what Im- major sports are now. It's so corporate. It's so sort of you know. may be commercial that you lose sight of Hot Dog should be. I mean I sound like the oldest man in the world that is a hot dog should be five dollars not fifteen dollars. It just doesn't make any sense and so it was a real. It was a blast and basically as we were saying is go work for your Minor League Baseball team. All right now I think five dollars is too much rod so a lot that you went to high on that. It's a lot to be a dollar. It should be dollar dollar dog. Dog is now we're talking about home. Depot again great hotdogs like a dog out there Get that when I was a kid. One of those guys make it for me breath to me the like the perfect example of what you're talking about it's like minor league. Baseball is is great when your kid to go and experience the game. Yeah when I was. I don't know how old maybe maybe fifteen or sixteen I went to Pittsfield. Mets were in my area in western Massachusetts. And I got four balls from in one game.
