Man arrested on charges he threatened to 'shoot up' Planned Parenthood in Washington, D.C.

"Done a man in Tennessee making threats online to shoot up a Planned Parenthood clinic in Washington tells a little bit about this particular case well not only did this twenty year old man make us threat to the Planned Parenthood he was jealous of your ship this place up and he was going to be as you said in Washington DC but Ben this guy was specific about the place the date and the time it was a very very specific online threat district it's reported to authorities and the authorities arrest him before anything is actually carried out and here's the deal that seems to be a new trend the question are we turning a corner here because all of a sudden the stories I'm seeing and reporting on about mass shooters are people who are making the threats not people who are actually carrying them out hi is this thread to this specific thread about the Planned Parenthood clinic was the the second person arrested within a week for threatening a women's health clinic I and it's on a social media site called I funny of course didn't nobody finding it funny right exactly nobody's tried not funny at all there were other threats that were made in the past week then that that works very very not funny up for instance a fifteen year old kid on a gaming platform from Daytona beach this kid thread institution up as high school here's another one that got me that that just it almost breaks your heart a twelve year old girl in Hillsborough County Florida that's the other side of the state it threatens on Snapchat did have dispute upper middle school middle school and she believes the threat but the binder anyway and she is arrested look what I'm getting from the hills Hillsborough County your share of them from other law enforcement people I've been talking with today is we are getting more and more reports of threats people giving us more tips and we are acting on every single one of them he admits this is a tremendous strain on resources but sure Chad monster also says you can not act on that she can't stand off and and just hope nothing happened you've got to take every single threat seriously so I asked him are we turning a corner here he said it it seems to be he said the combination of more tips more people willing to see something say something and the no tolerance stand by police he said this is the way that at least in the short term we're going to stop active shooters who were who were doing it for the glory because of course you know that they're a lot of people who will lead up to a lot of issues we see will lead up to these terribly violent acts with threats and with dark postings on social media and with mumbling to their friends and that's what the sheriff says we're starting to report more and they're acting on more there obviously are some people who do this who do think it's funny and they don't mean they're not going to do anything that I can assure but law enforcement has to follow up on all of this and and there's probably going to be an education you know like we used to be able to say the word ball at an airport you can't say that anymore even if you're joking that maybe some of this obviously we want to catch the people who really intended to harm but to it maybe educate young people that hate these things you know aren't funny and this is what's going to happen if you make a joke like that you know Ben at exactly the the example that you're quite a stir used he said it used to be you could talk about the word bomb on an airplane or in an airport he said to those days are obviously long gone the words shoot up a you name the place those words are also leaving our our vocabulary says or should and will if they continue to zero tolerance policy has large forces said anything to you about a strategy I mean there's education for everything right on star drugs don't do this don't do that is there some way that law enforcement feels they can reach young kids and say listen you might think this is funny but don't do it I mean all at the same time while they're trying to follow up on the on the real French too yeah I think that's exactly and I think what they're doing is they're making examples out of like this fifteen year old boy in Daytona beach there is and body cam video that was posted on social media picked up by a lot of news organizations all of this arrest and of the poor kid while I was at a poor kids the kids poor mother you know just pleading Hey he's a little boy he's my little boy he did he doesn't have the ability to shoot anything up and they said well yes ma'am do you have a gun in the house yes how does he have to feed does have two hands yes well then he has the means to carry out that threat and that's why we have to take this seriously and with that in front of this kid's mother they handcuffed him in a March to mark to detention and that is the kind of according to the Hillsborough County sheriff cruncher that's the kind of behavior on the part of law enforcement and on the part of people who are calling in the steps that we need if we're going to stop Nash shooters because then you don't know if that next step is going to be about a twelve year old little girl who's just you know mess around and says that she's gonna blow for school and somebody's really got the abilities got an arsenal and has the absolute intent and will to do it WBZ's They might stop the airlines from flying. Pete combs joins us live with a look at how that might happen. Yeah. The flight attendants association president Sara Nelson, just finished an emergency webcast to all of their members talking about what they would do in the event of another shutdown other calling for a mass protest at airports on February sixteenth that would be Saturday the day after a shutdown might begin again. And she says that while they can't strike legally. She's very happy to have her members do what they can to stop airplanes from flying because of safety concerns. This is what she said we raise our hand. If we see something that's not safe. And maybe it gets corrected because we've raised our hand on that. Maybe. Means a pilot refuses and aircraft, for example, and says this I'm determining that this is not safe to fly. So they can't say that they go on strike that that's not something they're able to do, but they can say, I refuse this flight for safety reasons. And she's setting up an argument right now that contends flights will not be safe. If the government is shut down again eleven thousand FAA inspectors are put on furlough and air traffic.

Trump visits Pittsburgh to console but stirs anger among protesters

"Asked the president and first lady arrived to pay their respects to the eleven victims of Saturday's synagogue massacre, also at the temple on this trip. President Trump's daughter Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, the president's presence turned sadness to anger for demonstrator Reverend Susan Rothenberg. This is. ABC's Pete combs joins us on the KOMO news line from Pittsburgh where the first three funerals were held today and emotions just must be so raw their Pete, absolutely emotions Jerry raw. And that woman. You heard yelling from inside the bubble as they say that is a cordoned off area where the president in which the president travels. She lives very close to that synagogue. She was alone at least thirty five hundred or so by my estimate thirty five hundred or so protesters marching on the the synagogue the tree of less than a God. As the president was just was there was just preparing to leave. There was no encounter with the presidential detail. However, there wasn't encounter. According to police with between the protesters and a smaller motorcade of the local dignitaries who are leaving the president's event there at the synagogue one person was arrested. They got very loud and for few minutes, at least it was very very. You're right entrance are running. And it seems like the president went despite what many leaders encouraged them to do. They didn't want them to go first because there were so many funerals today and they wanted to focus on the victims and their families. And then city leaders wanted to focus on safety not to use resources. There were three wounded police officers, but the president visited those police officers at the hospital. Would you here is a conflict between the president's perceived role as consoler in chief and the people here who want to concentrate on their own grief. They have a lot of things resources at their at their hands locally. And they want to stay pretty much themselves. At least a you know, in in Judaism is a very is almost ritualized thing. You bury someone's quick as you can. And as is practical, and you said Sheba, and in all honesty, I think the perception here, especially along the observance was that the president was intruding on that very private process. And what people might not know is when you say sit Chiba, they're they are not allowed to be alone. The bodies are not allowed to be without someone present. And there was also another custom that the president and first lady took place in today when they placed the stones on the stars the stars of David with the names of those those killed that was an emotional moment for a lot of people to see. They're absolutely was the the issue here really is is the president's insistence on coming. Now. I mean, the the officials that you mentioned mayor Bill Peduto the county executive of allegany county, that's rich FitzGerald governor, Tom wolf people here at the highest levels really really asked the president has a very serious way to wait. Just wait a week and the president was insistent on coming now. And I think that's where you see a lot of the that you saw here today. I was able to drive about fifty miles out of the hurricane disaster area. Get a shower get a hot meal, and I'm going back in this morning. What are you seeing along the way? Greg. I have never seen this kind of devastation in my life. I am still trying to process as anybody else. Who's been in there? What I've seen in the things that I've heard from the people I've talked to it is such utter devastation that your mind rejects it at first when you see it everything you look at has been damaged by the hurricane. If not destroyed. There are power lines still down still blocking the street, and you're doing things that you would think or so herculean in terms of trying to do no work arounds to get to where you need to go just to get across the street, even that you don't realize how unusual it is. You're just doing it. And that's the kind of mindset, I think that the people are trying to cope with like now. Tossing it emotionally trying to figure it all out. That's something that hasn't happened. With a lot of the people have spoken with yet. If that's the big task ahead for many of them are the people who evacuated allowed to come back yet. Yes. And that's presented a bit of a problem. They're rushing back trying to get in. There's nothing stopping them at this point at least not in Panama City, or Panama City beach. So they're coming back. Traffic is becoming an issue emergency vehicles that have been traveling into the disaster zone from their staging areas out of the area. They're now sort of having to compete with these people returning of who have been back US-led. So they go and convoys, and they always run with their emergency lights on even just in the middle of traffic lying to plow through to get to where they need to go to help as many people as they can p. "Talking to Pete combs from ABC news. I don't know if this is a rumor, or if this is truth, or if you heard the story, there's obviously some popular clubs in Panama City. It's a it's a hot spring break location, LA via or LA villa. Forgot how to pronounce it has a huge dance floor. Is it true that they turn it into a shelter? I haven't seen that at all. In fact, I'm told that there are some schools that are open at shelters here. But for the most part people who were supposed to leave we stayed there. Trying to hunker down in place and at home. The governor says it's too late to evacuate now. So you are to make the best arrangements. You can wherever you are. Now, what do you shave anything after covering some of these storms, do you notice or or have you seen anything different about what's happening with this one the shock for us here? In south Florida is that this was a wave below Cuba and one morning and the next day we woke up and all of a sudden, it's a hurricane. And now they said it was going to be a water or two maybe baby. And now it's four. Yeah. It was a wave. What Sunday, right? Was it was nothing new back. Then it blew up in a big big hurry. And and that is probably a pretty big shock, but you know, the waters of the Gulf becomes so worn out that kind of a quick of enrichment of a storm is absolutely possible. And it could be even worse because the waters are warmer closer to shore. So we're watching very closely. Now, the barometric pressure at the center of this storm is at nine thirty three bars now, and if it goes lower that just seems the winds will go higher. So that's the criticality of the moment. Keep an eye on that. And let's see what this thing brings in terms of wind. And of course, turns a storm surge. So how does the Winfield right now? You know, it's coming in bands. So just a moment ago when you and I started talking it was born at a good sixty miles an hour. Yeah. Down to about thirty thirty five. But that's how it goes. It goes up and down the rain increases in intensity. And then lowers here's another gust as the Winchester to pick up again. It's just going to be like that for the next several hours. I don't know if you're wear, but here, I mean, we're as far south as you get I mean aside from the keys, of course. But we're getting the outer band since yesterday as well, we're expecting wins twenty five to thirty five miles an hour today and those squalls yesterday what I was driving home from work comes across all of a sudden, it just drops a ton of rain, and then it goes away. Yeah. Kind of like a punch in the face, right? Yeah. Absolutely. Right. And that's the way it feels right now we're talking to Pete combs from ABC news. He's in Panama City, where are you right now?
