"Mask up These mask up even though it's outside y'all I double mask no matter what I'm a mask I'm double masking even outside I'm a crazy like that and totally crazy Outdoor sports events and a mask up You don't get a mask up You said you went to a padre's game or something I did Last Wednesday I went to I think it's still called petco park I was probably one of four people out of 40,000 that had a mascot at petco park in San Diego Yeah That's San Diego That is San Diego I have relatives down there who have children in one of the school districts And these relatives are not vaccinated in their anti vax and their children can't be even though when they can they won't be which is to me child abuse And their school system has announced that once 5 and older can get vaccinated they want all the students to be vaccinated And these relatives of mine are like we're pulling our kids out of the school There you go pull them It's just about the tweet that the vaccine to me nobody's forcing you to get a max Z vaccine You just can't go into places that require it and spread infection So anybody that has ever been to a bar is like you don't have to go home but you can't stay here Exactly You don't have to get back But you can't go in here Exactly Lonnie and I went to flappers a couple Saturdays ago because Jay Leno was performing which was awesome Yeah And he's like we gotta go with our anniversary and he really was excited about it And I'm like I need to make sure they're making us be vaccinated because I'm not going inside anywhere You probably could have just called Carlos because Carlos right there I've seen him perform there But yeah I was a little nervous and then once I went online to see that they are requiring vaccination for everybody I was like okay and then we masked up until we had to eat or drink and then we put them back on you know Play flight Yeah exactly Exactly and it was kind of a little PTSD for me to walk into a venue Right now you know and they didn't spread us too far apart which is a little annoying but we were right at the stage So really it was just the comics that were breathing on us Yeah You know but yeah I'm glad they're doing that and my friend who runs a nightclub here because LA county is going to require indoor venues to have their customers be vaccinated from now on And he runs a nightclub and they only have one very small outdoor area everything else is inside It's a bottle service kind of thing Right And I asked him I said how do you feel about that He goes I am thankful finally I can force people to not be in here because they have to be 21 and over Why not show your vaccine ID as well You've got to show ID And so he's whole staff has already been vaccinated but he's ecstatic that he can now turn customers away if they're not vaccinated I think a lot of places are going to be happy that it's forced on them So that they hate the law man It's a health department rule It's like do you want wilted bad lettuce so you can get E. coli I know Now the arguments seem to be turning like in Virginia in the debate that the vaccination for smallpox and chickenpox et cetera is more acceptable because the data is there and it's been around for years Right It's almost and so the argument is that this data is too new We don't know It's ten years old They've been working on this For at least ten years since the first mers epidemic Exactly Yeah And so it's not a new vaccine by any stretch And that's just the argument they're making because it makes them seem less crazy for not getting the vaccine We would get it but it was just there's just not enough data There's plenty of data What's over 6 billion people were wide have already been vaccinated to some degree and then in this country alone with the mRNA vaccines which they're complaining about mainly over a 170 million of us or so have been vaccinated So that's the data would be there if this were bad We would be dropping like flies or it wouldn't be unvaccinated people in hospitals It would be vaccinated people So and the converse is true is that now there's new data saying that we have underestimated the effects of long haul COVID Right A lot more people are suffering from that now 6 months down the line diarrhea vomiting weakness headaches I'm a friend of mine She was coughing So she pretty much coughs every day She's had COVID now for almost a year Just shy of a year She's a wheelchair bound at points She has in home care now because it's hard for her to just do anything And her husband works in her daughter goes to school so she needed help And her coughing was so bad that she was in pain and didn't know why until a doctor said it's because you're coughing your entire core It's 50 miles an hour is how far how fast a cough goes Especially these kinds and it's her whole body And so he's finally gotten her some pain management and she can sleep but it's been that bad It's terrible and she's only in her 40s She's young And otherwise she was in good health prior to that So yeah I mean these people that I'm sick and tired of the let's coddle them and coax them we're done I was done with that a long time ago Yeah you were on team just die already for a while Yeah But yeah I mean the anti vaxxer anti mask people if you want your free dome back free dog Then wear a mask and get vaccinated I mean they're impinging on my freedom Yeah You know Would be healthy Exactly How dare I want to be healthy How dare I take care of the basics of healthcare for me and my family What was I thinking It's 19 minutes after the hour This portion of the Stephanie Miller show is brought to you by free pit prints I can talk Yeah Free prints Which miss Miller.

"Vaccine, governor, Newsome says. In addition to the Fizer and Madonna vaccines, the state should be getting nearly 400,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine each week moving forward. The only constraint now is supply. We are administering more vaccines now. Formally then we are receiving from the federal government. It's not an indictment. It's all now about manufactured supply. It's the only constraint in terms of our capacity to do more and better. The governor says the state is hoping to eventually get to four million doses a week later this year. Now, the county announced thousands more Fizer vaccine doses arrived in San Diego, but there is a shortage of the Madonna vaccine. Despite reactions, California says virus vaccine can be used

"News for l A and other counties in California that have been scrambling to get enough doses of the Corona virus vaccines to inoculate everyone who's eligible. State health officials have given the green line to restart using a batch of modern, a vaccine that was put on the shelf after a handful of people experienced allergic reactions. KCRW's Darryl Saxman has the latest The state's top epidemiologist, says a safety review found no scientific basis to continue the pause and that vaccinations with the Moderna doses should resume immediately. That decision frees up more than 300,000 doses to county cities in hospitals struggling to obtain supplies. Earlier this week, the state Department of Health recommended not using that batch of modern a vaccine after what was described as fewer than 10. People inoculated at San Diego's Petco Park developed severe reactions. Those problems were not reported in any other county that received vaccines from the same batch. Doctor. Erica Pan, the state's top infectious disease specialist, said in the statement that the safety review that involved Mo Derna and health agencies found no cause for concern. She said the findings quote should continue to give Californians confidence that vaccines are safe and effective.

"The Players Association with Major league baseball with the Mariners and the A's and and this is certainly a joint decision that we all thought was a weapon trips of eclairs. Gabe Kapler yesterday talking about the decision to not play yesterday's game, and that was a question Henry Sherman asked him that was supposed to be like the pregame zoom conference call or press call or media session. Whatever you call it on, didn't have a game. So he still did the media session and Sheldon asked him. So whose decision was it to call the game? Because Major League Baseball on Monday that I was a gaze a flying up to Seattle on your way to another Siri's in Colorado and play to ball games? And then we're just gonna let the Giants they're just going to go home. So it's a bank. Sheldon was like, you know what? What gives handed Major League Baseball make the call and Capital basically said It was a joint decision between the Mariners between the Giants and it was included inclusive of the major League of the Excuse Me of the Players Union and of Major League Baseball. But ah, probably the right move for the right decision was pretty unhealthy. I don't think it was quite hazardous up there yesterday, but pretty bad in Sami's players that they were feeling the effect in a walking Soria of the A's said he was really having problems, catching his breath and and getting his wind out there and Jesus Elizardo talked about that being a young guy and having problems breathing on the mound. That's scary, Scary stuff. So probably the right move to not play yesterday in Seattle, by the way, Redwood Credit Union sponsors this segment of the leadoff spot say alone. To new possibilities. A redwood credit union with free checking and a debit card returns rewards Redwood Credit Union for all that, you love. Um As far as the Giants go, there was an update on Kevin Gausman on it's It's good news. They think he's going to make his next start. After there was no structural damage in his pitching elbow. He had the Emery. Gabe Kapler then went on to talk about the MLB postseason schedule, and it's not a lot of managers were asked about this yesterday because Major League Baseball's announced that they've got a new schedule for the postseason. They're going to do the bubble thing for the playoffs, but not for the wild card round beating, not for those three game, Siri's that the Giants would have to get into and then get out of In order to get into a bubble city. But the way it's gonna go down is if you make it to the D s the LDS in the National League or in the American League for the Final Eight teams. Basically, thie LDS is going to be played at minute Maid Park and it globalized. Both of those stadiums in Houston and then in Arlington Globe. Life is the New Texas Rangers ballpark when they just opened this year and in the LDS will be played at Petco Park in Dodger Stadium. The LCS at Petco, the CS at Globe, Life and the World, Siri's at Globe Life Stadium If you haven't seen a picture Global life. I implore you to put it into Google. Take a look at it. It's they'll be playing the World Series in a Costco in Arlington is what it looks like. No joke that I was used those two analogies like I feel like I used to say that about about Tampa, but the hope is that they'll have that Costco pizza. Maybe a chicken. Bake their day of Yemen with that, dude, They still do the chicken. Bake that still a thing. I've been a cost for a long time, anyway. Yeah. Costco Pizza man. So Golden Boyd's Noah know Tony's in North Beach, but but it is a solid slice anyway. Yes, so they'll be playing the World Series will be played in a ballpark in Texas in Arlington. On the funny thing about this, I guess is that they just opened the stadium and the Texas Rangers will not be the first team. Those two playoff ballpark. They're in last place right now in the American League West, some of the other stuff It was talked about as Faras. The postseason goes. This was all discussed yesterday. Rob Manfred. I spoke to The Associated Press. So the final Any teams are going to join the bubble. There will be Oh, sorry. This is some of the rule change stuff. They've talked about how next year there not talking about doing the seven inning double header. The runner on second looks like it's going away. But Rob Manford says they are leading towards keeping 16. Playoff teams. I don't know how we feel about that for the course of an entire season. I've never liked that half the teams in the N B. A. I didn't I've never. I mean, it's you know, I love now that we've got a chance for the Chinese to get into the postseason, but like, I don't know. I feel like we saturate the pool far too much the envy the NFL. I know out of the extra teams and Because they've got the bye week. It makes it a little better, but for baseball, I don't know that Abi round helps you You know, I think so much I use this is the example all the time. I always think about the 2007 postseason where the Rockies caught fire At the end of the season, they streaked through the postseason. They sweep their way to the World Series, and they had to wait eight days for the Red Sox to come back from down 31 toe. Eric Wedge is ah Cleveland Indians. They come all the way back and they get to the postseason. The Rockies have been standing around. You know, playing playing pepper with each other for the last eight days, and the Reds not just ran him off the field..

If you're not following us on social media, please do that at twitter at John Shaffer at Jim Russell. St. Over the next hour, we're gonNA hear from the manager Jay's Tingler we'll hear from my clovinger as well LS scores and we'll get you set for the massive. At PETCO Park against La the begins on Monday and six ten. But what a weekend Jim, we didn't know if the momentum would be halted as the padres didn't play Friday and Saturday, because of a false positive in the giants organization but the Padres pick up right where they were and they've won seven consecutive games. Yeah. A couple days off may have actually helped team to be honest with you and they got to sweep today. Kinda like. Easy I to me it did it to me. It felt like there's no doubt in my mind that not only the Padres, the better team, but they're going to win these games. They're gonNA to find a way to win in the second game there, and then the first game I tweet this out after the third inning, I'll like this feels like clovinger I'm just GonNa go seven complete this game type outing for him and which he did he went seven. Felt Kinda effortless almost when you look at the box score complete game seven strikeouts only one walk only giving up two hits like that's the Mike Levin show that this team traded for and who they hope they get in the postseason is a guy that's going to give you seven innings going to not allow any runs couple couple hits given up. strikeout seven plus only walk one it was it was his best as a padre so far and couldn't have come at a better time. And then game to like it was you know giant scored I there but to me I was like, all right. You know I felt that they were gonNA come back and win that game somehow, and it wasn't pretty will myers at a home run. But other than that the other ones they scored wasn't pretty how they did it but still they got the job done and their bullpen. John, this is a strength of the team. Now it's incredible because it's been nine days. So the first twenty, three games of the year, the padres bullpen was six point four, eight, the last twenty, three games coming into today two, point, seven five and the bullpen today two and two third innings of one hit no run baseball Tim Hills now three. Now he was the winning pitcher in game two drew pomeranz not allowed to run JIM this year and fifteen scoreless innings and Trevor Rosenthal was able to work around two out error committed by Fernando Totti's junior. To Work School. seventh-inning for his tenth save and third with the chargers. If there's one thing we saw over the course of these two games and maybe over the seven game winning streak is that Fernando Totti's junior is a human. You know he wasn't GonNa hit three fifty all year. He wasn't GonNa hit thirty five home runs and sixty games you know he For the first time, maybe as a professional at the big league level actually slumping, he's one for fifteen. Now, in his last five games, the Patriots won all of those games. So that's the good news.

"Goes between the Hilton, and Petco park, and from the convention center side debt that was it was originally twenty six million. It went to if I remember it over thirty some of those redevelopment money, which is tax money that they throw back and say, hey, we're doing you a favor from Sacramento. Here's money, that we pick pocketed from you, but we'll pretend like we're giving you a gift and you'll love it. So state Senator Toni Atkins, Democrats and Yego announced. Hey, we got some money this part of the thing that came out last week. They're all Todd Gloria was. They're talking about some money that's going to go to fix the botanical building and bellboy park which takes a lot of work. Is that old lattice work stuff, but that's over eight million dollars. Everything now is like multimillions. They've put a couple of ramps on a freeway. It's, it's up five million dollar project. So this is this is just interesting. And again that pedestrian bridge down. There is nice. The one that very nice. It's got that artsy. European looking thing, it's also a really good toilet for the homeless urban outdoorsman. The use the elevators. I'm just saying, you know, if you go to Petco park and a lot of times there's not a lot of people on the bridge. Thirty million dollars. Jennifer van grove in the union hyphen Tribune writes a long delayed effort to let motorists cross the railroad tracks. Oh, this is this is not just pedestrian vehicle crossing. Okay. Well, then maybe it's twenty well it didn't have to be twenty one million. So. The state of California sea fully-funded. Thanks to the state of California. That's our money again. Hello. I love with well, the state has blessing us with money it's hours. They take their cotton. They give it back at. It's supposed to be a big deal. So these one time allocations nine million for belbow apart projects. That's mostly the botanical building. Six point one million, I realize is not a lot of crafts that who do that kind of thing anymore. Atlanta's work at six point one million to help stabilize del mar bluffs, the bonus checks are included in the states. Two hundred fourteen point eight billion dollar budget for fiscal year starts July one. And there's a twenty one point five billion dollars surplus, which, of course, many of the members of the assembly state Senator salivating because they just wanna spend that too. Notes, the, the states Twenty-one million dollar infrastructure investment represents a tangible path forward for the twenty three million railroad crossing project this become potentially it more expensive. This was first approved back in nineteen ninety eight when the ordinance that got Petco park going, and the state mandated replacement for the old days avenue crossing. So then they to build the stadium, back in the late nineties Petco park, and then it's been sitting there making and then the number keeps going up. There's this. Over the years, the projects price, tag has ballooned. It started just a few million dollars in the early two thousands of the city expected spend ten million to build a bridge, a rail crossing that grew to seven point three million by two thousand fourteen and then doubled the thirteen point eight in two thousand fifteen now it's twenty three million. You know what it's done? It'll be another thirty million bucks. Does more bridge than the pedestrian bridge? I get that. But that was thirty million. With these ears at the more of this, the states with the state's cash infusion the park boulevard. Car crossing project has a new time line. The remaining two million already been allocated by civic civic, San Diego and is expected to open to the public the end of two thousand twenty two then you get over the teachers with your car. That'll help then there'd be a bottleneck. We'll see then follow this work, then it'd be congestion. And then the head of sandbag, Mr. Croatia Asana, Krista will say, well, that's what we should do congestion pricing. Now that you're stuck in Harvard drive. See it all comes back. I of the projects three parts related to demolition and relocation of fences on the site already underway this down around Petco park. So every time they touch not everything's millions. Couple of new ramps, five six million. So out in that, but a lot of handling charges. I think they have seven sixty talking breaking news, if that's caused you to drive off into something heaven forbid call Mark Motors BodyShop, no fix you up best body shop around been around for nearly seventy years, free shuttle service to, and you have the legal, right. "USA inside pitch is we get ready for baseball on the left coast. It's a modest two game winning streak but a winning streak. Nonetheless in Cincinnati Reds will attempt to make three in a row tonight against the Padres. At Petco park in San Diego in the reds entered tonight's game with a seven and twelve record. But they're only four games out of first place in the National League central. The Padres are eleven and ten and losers of five straight. But they're in second place in the NFL west just two and a half games behind loss. Angeles. Dodgers Petco park has been a house a horse for the reds. They're five and thirteen in the last five seasons. But to know this year, the reds one four to one on Thursday night and three to two in eleven innings on Friday night using seven pitchers to shut the Padres down on four. Hits the reds only head for hits of their own. But to left the yard AU. Halio Suarez went deep in the first inning and Derek Dietrich to run bomb in the eleventh inning off former university of Dayton star pitcher Craig Stayman Dietrich is only batting two hundred. But he's become Mr. clutch with five home runs and thirteen RBI's reg starter, Anthony declaw. He hit a strong outing going six innings giving up just two hits with six strikeouts. And how would you like to be Padre starter? Matt Strom two hits over eight innings. Swore his home run and Yasuko Puig's swinging bunt in the fourth inning. "One at Petco park in San Diego. Now, let's get some thoughts from the guys that called it tonight Marty Brennaman and the cowboy Jeff Brantley guys, well, it was another night of very little hits as far as concern. But the big point was three of them were home runs and the reds got great pitching from Tanta Rourke Jeff in the and the ridge bullpen for a win that breaks losing streak with the reds were turned to. Three double plays tonight. One of them was very unlikely double play on the fly ball to right field. And getting the the double off of hosmer at first base. But you you just look at the way that the reds have pitched and you're starting to to see a little bit of relaxation. It's kinda come in in waves for the hitters I'm talking about. But if this club can play without some putting so much pressure on them and and get anywhere close to the offense of power that they had last year with the way, they're pitching, this could be awfully fun. Yeah. And you know, I think we both felt that once ten Aurora was able to get past the second inning and two from his perspective at least control the game. At that point. Because this has been a major problem as we talked about at the top of the broadcast tonight, and you had to feel once that happened that he was going to be in pretty good shape. Yeah. I thought he controlled the game, really. Well. I know this is the San Diego Padres. But it's not the same dago Padres that you're used to sing this really good offense club. They can swing the bats. And they can play long ball with the best of them and the rents were really able to keep them in check. The only run the scored was that leadoff walk to arenas back in the the sixth inning. And if you don't do that, you probably gonna shut out and you gotta give the credit to the bullpen. Zach do got a big strikeout. Robert Stevenson pitch welling how down a Garrett one two three and the and then I shall a glacier struck out this. I thought there was a little bit different look in the eyes of rice L A glaciers tonight. I thought that was the rice L A glacier. The that. "I mean, that's that's really what kept me as a fan is just those memories. We had some small bless when we moved into Petco park, but other than that it's been a very long period of watching bad baseball in the latest generation of San Diego going up. That's all they know. Right. And you know, I I'm starting a family soon in the question. I have to ask myself is gonna raise my son to be Padres van. And it's it's one of those ones where you know. There are certainly some good lessons to learn about life by watching the Padres, especially about disappointment tempering expectations, and you know, the false illusion of hope sometimes like these are actually like, you know, it's almost like an ace op fable that I can teach my child in terms of watching baseball. But at the same time there's so much. There's so much negative to rooting for the Padres ca you know, perennial disappointment. And it's not even just having a good team and having them fail in the playoffs. That's one way to be disappointing and team it's just the overall futility of the franchise from everything from choosing which players to have to drafting developing players to the way, they market their product off the field to near these very bland blue uniforms when obviously everyone wants the uniforms to be Brown. And you know, just you can just go down the list. Of if items, and I think if you ranked where the Padres, you know, stacked up against the rest of major league baseball to these categories would be consistently towards the bottom. And so yeah, I mean as Padres fan. You you've definitely are downtrodden, and we started to complain when we're not at the top of that list. I think Seattle's the latest one to decrease the top of that list. Even though the Seahawks won the Super Bowl. We've seen Cleveland on that list. But at least, you know, the Indians of in pretty decent and the Cavs just want an NBA title. So the San Diego market is never wanted professional championship unless you include the nineteen sixty three AFL chargers prior to the the merge, and so we're waiting anxiously on her first pro sports title. And. Yeah, unfortunately, now, we only have the Padres which are the losing space ball franchise of all time, at least by active team standards. So yeah, I think it really just must be the weather like no one can feel any sympathy for Cindy go residents because everyone thinks it's a paradise. Yeah. I mean, I I just lived in Delaware for the last few years, I work for a Bank, and I was on the east coast living out there and recently moved back to San Diego. And you know, all the things they say about to whether are true like it rained a couple of days last week. And that was. Like seen as a major inconvenience. But it was probably very good for our drought. But in any case. Yeah. I mean, that's that's the general excuse thrown out. That's thrown out there. At least you have the weather which I mean, it's true. But you know, what I would trade. I would trade a good solid month or two of sun for snow gum you championship at the end of the day. I would definitely do that. I like bad weather, so I would not trade with you. But emblematic, I think of the Padres standing is. You know, I was reading in October a twentieth anniversary retrospective of quote, unquote pitch. And that was in the sent ego union Tribune this was about the two to pitch from Mark Langston to Tino Martinez in game one of the ninety eight World Series that should have been a called strike and wasn't and then Tino hit a grand slam. And that was kind of the end of the Padres in that series. I hadn't thought of that pitch in years..
