"My baked frozen stove. No, didn't your mom used to take stuff and make it look like that. I always, my mom was kind of before I was fat ish. Was into something we call real food. Far fresh to table. So she wouldn't get me like TV dinners and stuff. But you wanted them. I always wanted a TV dinner. Yeah. They were really cool. So she went out and bought those. All divided up and she cooked everything separately, loaded in that. That's awesome. Now we know why. Now we know why he got baskets for his kids to put burgers in. It is fun. I just did that. I got there great. I know. I got this plastic basket. They have the bowling alley. Yes. I know this probably didn't happen, but I'd like to think when your mom handed you that homemade TV dinner. I hope she mumbled that ought to hold you. And when I was little, I was one of those kids that had to have all the food separated. Yeah. Oh, then that's why the TV dinner was perfect. But when the corn leaked into the mashed potatoes that was troubling for me. Do you eat one thing at a time? At some times I do. Yeah. The other day I did that. I ate all the Lima beans before I dug it. They're my favorite. Oh, yeah. When we come back, we have coming up speaking of food. A zoo director who had to be fired after serving four of the animals of the Christmas party. Did he have good reason? No. I don't think so. I mean, what's the monster? Well, they were free. Really, I have a squirrel that's been getting into my bird feeder. What do you want to do? Shoot it? No, no. I'll tap on the window and that one scared away. So now I have to step outside and it looks at me, and it doesn't leave until I go, get out of here. And then it leaves. Have you tried greasing the pole? There is no pull. No, no. He said he was outside. There is no poll. It's attached, it's just sitting on my windowsill. Oh. Well, that's the problem. No. It's incredibly accessible. It really isn't. What you need to do is I did this years ago. Here we go. You need to put a wire to a tree nearby. And then bring it back to your house and you have it on a pulley system. So you can send it. You can send it out and then bring it back. Here's the thing. You have no idea what you've accidentally unlocked. What I mean is it's too far away. I like to sit at my booth. But apparently that scene, the most of the cast did not know what was going to happen. They claim that they were completely unaware. Obviously the person who were the alien emerged was aware of it, but apparently, and I double checked this, I've heard this before and I guess that's real. Well, Tom scarrett claimed in an interview. To a point it's real because the editing, they thought something was really wrong with John Hurt. They didn't know he was going to lose his he was going to start freaking out like that. But the reaction to it, they have to know. They're setting it up. You know what I mean? They can't set that shot up. But he said they were aware that the script just said the alien will appear in this scene, but they weren't told where or how. How they didn't know it was going to pass. That's what he claimed. Okay. I hope that's true. That's cool. Now, we were talking about the dairy winkel, which of course, in West Virginia, is the home of the wiener man. Which was stolen, has been returned fortunately. We have a song by here come the mummies. Yes, we just played it. Thank you. Oh, but that reminds me of periwinkle, which I didn't know this until Christie told me, Perry winkle is a color. And it happens to be the color from Steven singer jewelers. For the 24 karat, the 24 karat gold dipped rose. That's the new one this year. It's periwinkle, and periwinkle is kind of a violet blue. Yeah, it sparkles. It's really pretty. But I didn't realize it was there was a color called periwinkle. And i guess the closest description is like a missing limb syndrome This film they were things that were there was supposed to be there. But we're not. "When i tell my wife that i'm stone. Cold therapy top. Who manipulated every therapist into changing the subject when it gets real. She's rightfully unimpressed. But like i warned them of my powers instill. I have changed the subject from my dead. Mom's local politics quicker than you can say counterproductive. I'm more than one occasion. It's not good for me. Like i'm going to therapy because i needed. I've got this problem. i can't cry. i don't cry. I haven't done it in decades. I can't reach those like as lolo feelings. And i also i can't feel the high feelings. I live in this muted palette of beige to perry winkle emotional experiences just so limited and you know like when my friends are are feeling like high moments of joy. And i'm with them or having like a shared moment of grief. One of two things inevitably happened to me either. I have this very visceral feeling of like a garage door. Just sort of closing immune in locking me out of the moment or literally locked out of my body like leave my body and i can't return to it to join in this moment with people because i can't be president in it then i don't form memory of it and it's like i just never was there and i've even ask their pissed like you know in my sociopath and my artistic and they say no you know you. Just have a tendency to disassociate that felt too late for me so so i consulted the world's most powerful dr google doc and i did a web search for like. Why can't cry all these like really sad web searches and i came up with like the web self-diagnosis of deep personalization disorder. And and i thought like. How do i turn this. Turn this into a good thing right. So i my interview for my first nursing job i i figured i would get the question like why do you think you're good fit for the emergency room and i would say something like well and very calm in moments like in highly emotional moments and they would hire me on the spot but they didn't ask the question but they did hire me and i got my first nursing job straight out of nursing school as my dream job is emergency room nurse in starting in january twenty twenty which we all can agree was the moment just before it all hit the fan in new york city and the way it works at this hospital is that you you. Don't go straight to the emergency room. Because i would be crazy for a nurse. They train you. A little bit in inpatient care and i started in an inpatient regular in patient unit and they do things something called primary nursing. Which is that. They tried to assign the same patients to the same. Nurses is often as possible. Because you really get to know that patient you can really do nice treat them like continuity of care they get treated better and i had this one guy that i i've been working with for like a month on. Here's cranky but we really got to like each other in the end. In one day. I come into work and his door shut. And there's a sign now on his door indicating that he's a a covert rule out case had just thought like no way. Not this dude. You know. I've been working with them for so long but it really have time to think about it. 'cause like ten minutes into the shift is oxygen levels drop he codes really fast is in full cardiac arrest and this mid-march we have like no pp in the hospital and and so they were really limiting the amount of people inside the code so it was just they just picked me worst option ever and a new doctor also didn't know anything he was just like. We were just totally out of our depth in on. I'm there on my pumping his chest and there's doctors outside the door and they're yelling at us of what to do or go faster. Pump faster getting this mad. It was the worst relay race is. I was like running together. Bed coming back and push it and like cpr so violent on a body and this guy just he really had very very poor prognosis even before he died this time in so they did the really kind thing which is that. They sort of ended the code a little bit earlier than they would in a normal situation and then and then it was. You know like when you're doing cpr. Like i'm in this moment of. I can credible adrenalin-pumping pumping you've got this. Stinky stress sweats like everything is going slow motion and a million miles at the same time. The monitor's alarming. The most alarming alarm sounds just panic. Inducing and then it's over and you've got all of a sudden there's nothing in this moment between like extreme action in no action at all. I felt it like. There's this tightness in my throat. And i felt a swell rising my body and i thought oh my god. It's going to happen like i'm going to cry. And i just thought three were. Maybe more therapists have like tried to take me to this precipice and failed in here. I was like king of cry mountain. And i was like all right. Keep it cool. As like excuse me and i walked to the storage room and i steadied myself and i tried to like relax. The borders of my body so they would like stretch against my self trying embody trying to leave itself and just as like the cry was just like fixing to breach the surface. The charge nurse comes in practice interruptus. I lost the moment. It all dissolved and went away. I lost my opportunity like a week later as transferred to issue to do my training there and there it was like like hospice in space. You know everybody wearing spacesuits. Everybody had dying of covert at that time you know. There was tubes bringing oxygen and nutrients to people bags. collecting body. Wastes was all very horrible on strange and there was like nothing we could do for these patients. Even though there was so much we wanted to do and And so some days. They're just wasn't like a lot of action and One day my job. I came in charge. Nurse said like your job. Today is to watch this person die. They had a dnr. They were already actively dying. They needed somebody to sort of mark the time of death. And then i guess i would get something do day So i just stood there. You know and i watched through the glass and the numbers just got worse and worse and happens slowly vendor positives and slowly than a positive and all of a sudden he was just dead marked. The time of death ended up. His body prepared him for transport to the mark. And the whole time. I just i just felt nothing you know. They're doing a job a doctor who'd been working alongside taking care of this patient for the last couple of weeks came and he was kind of shaken by the death And he said you know. Are you okay. And i was like. Oh yeah no problem. And like i knew immediately i messed up. You know it was like. I had just shared a part of myself that i didn't mean to share to him and i like. He found out that i was just like robot. Not person like this impostor of human. And now i was really embarrassed that my secret was out at work that i didn't have the skill set to be a human in. So you know i think of of trying as a tool a tool of being human. You know it's controlled by our autonomic nervous system. It's a part of her body. We have no control over. It's a part of her body. That makes us blush. We have a crush. It makes our heart race faster than I've illusionary scientists. There is that crying is this auditory and visual signal to other people that.

And I think that impacted the way the game was played because show hey, you know, we thought maybe he'd go out and play the outfield after he left the game as a pitcher, and that's the most He's thrown 105 pitches, but he was dripping wet. Um, just give me your thoughts about and we've seen him on TV, obviously, but it's different when you're covering the game and watching every single pitch. What did you think before we got to the extra inning madness. It was a tight Todd pitching, uh, affair between two of the best splitters in baseball. What did you think of your first time? Really getting close to show? Hey. Yeah, it was. I mean, it's something we haven't seen since. Like your Babe Ruth, right? It's crazy. I was I was talking to Joe Maddon on the field before. Tuesday's game and it's funny. I covered the Angels last year cover. The Angels was 2000 and one and he was the bench coach and I said I said, Look at us Last time I talked to you on this field you were wearing Perry Winkle. I think he hit a cutter the next time, so that could be a really good sign that Alex Dickerson is starting to heat up. But overall, Yeah, it was. "Fall, and I can tell you this. There was So much support around this event. We're at max capacity at both restaurants. People were wanting to be in a safe environment. He is the executive director of Perry Winkle Foundation, an organization that has not skipped a beat despite the fact that they serve Children suffering from cancer they organize. Camps and activities and shows for Children that are going through something that is cruel and unjust to be sick, that young and to have to suffer that much. And we know from pain management philosophies and doctors studying the matter that support from the community from your family and from your friends. Is part of a saw the road to recovery and convalescence and the Perry Wrinkle Foundation provides a support group. For all these kids. They're basically giving all these kids an opportunity to meet with others who are suffering another Tragic, unjust and cruel fate and getting out of it. And Doug. I hope I'm not I I don't mean to harp on the cruelty of the situation, but it's something that pulls at our heart strings. When we see kids that are that are sick. It's just it's not meant to be. And I think that maybe that's one of the driving purposes behind your organization. It generates a lot of empathy, and these Children are not only deserving of our help, but they flourished. They thrive with our help, and the organization is literally changing lives and making a difficult period of their lives a little bit easier, right? Absolutely. That is absolutely correct, Lorant. That's uh Perry Winkle started, you know, 38 years ago as a single summer camp for kids living with cancer are founder Dr Paul Gerson, who is still involved with can't carry Winkle. The doctor radiology at Texas Children's ended MD. Anderson and he tells the story that he was literally walking the halls of the Children's floor and the cancer center. And he said, all that I would see was Dying Children and grieving parents. And he said, We have to do better than this. And what he did was he went And started planning. Can't Perry Winkle As you can imagine, And this was a 1984. They implemented the first camp and took about 50 campers out to camp for the week. And as you can imagine these kids coming out of the hospital or They've been at home for a number of years over months, the pertaining on treatment Got to experience camp just like any other kid. And the real magic happened when these kids returned back home, and they returned back to the hospital setting the doctors, the nurses and everyone noticed this new sense of optimism and the Kids attitude and towards life and towards their treatment of their cancer. Sinjar district remains unstable. For those who have returned here from displacement camps elsewhere in Iraq, electricity runs for just 2 to 4 hours a day. Political disputes between the semiautonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq on the government in Baghdad mean that other services are barely functioning either. Presence of multiple armed groups with competing priorities makes people feel unsafe. Yazidis have little faith in Iraqi or Kurdish authorities ability to dampen their pain. Hosni Elia Samad is another morning crouching beside his uncle's new grave and culture. He says another uncle and Denise are still missing, but doesn't have much hope in Iraqi officials capacity. They say they're ready. But there was no action. He tells me. A few meters away, the man dressed in black and his father's grave stands up and lights a cigarette staring at the muddy ground.
