Serena Williams upset by Victoria Azarenka at US Open

"So. Niamey's soccer took place in the final and that point. ENACT COVERAGE ON BBC radio we switched from our digital station sports, extra five, which is the network station and. We went big on Serena. Williams against Victoria as a Aranka. Which I have to say I started to think well, it can't possibly live up to what we've just seen in you just Kant. And the first point of the match. Serena. Williams on leashes a four hundred. The almost didn't. It couldn't be tracked by the the camera because it went so fast and it just went out but it felt like such a statement immediately, the I am going to just destroy every tennis bullet comes near me. And I felt like that my of slight rattled as a Aranka just the the shift force integration that was that was hit with. An immediately to breaks of serve to. Serena. Four games to love she led. Won The set six one. and. I don't know about you. But my name was it feels like we've just got an a time machine and back ten twelve years to when Williams was in twenty. It's the way she was running the movement. She was all she was moving right now soccer she's nearly thirty nine and she's hitting the living daylights out of the ball an and it really wobbled as Anka who started just Tara what did you think? Katherine Oh. Yeah it was blistering utterly blistering and I think it was a a mock of the respect that Serena Williams has. Victoria as rancor because her starts Serena have been Radi. Ready. Sluggish. And she's played some really good plays and she says improper tests but I think she needs she simply could not get away with that today. I think a mindset shifted completely. Am I don't know how I don't I genuinely don't know how you can just sort of decide i. I can't get away with doing that today. So I won't. Thing why you why couldn't you trick yourself over into thinking that every day but overseas? Just doesn't psychology doesn't work like that but. She. Yeah. She couldn't afford to give Victoria as. That lead and take her time to work her way into the match as she has been doing. and so she went to completely the other end of the spectrum and made. Pretty much as blistering start tennis match as I have seen as I've seen Serena making in recent memory, it was. It made my eyes Bogle out of my head. At moments. Really did it was like she? Convinced herself that Seraing was Sharapova. I mean how many times we've seen Serena come out with that intensity and that that or against Charipova and just make mincemeat of her certainly within the first set, and that's what she did to as their income in the first set she was. Unbelievably good as you said, crunching the ball moving fantastically and not allowing as incur any chance to set or what. So ever because she was serving well. So kind of dominating the points on her serve and then she was returning as in cassette could serve so strongly and. This was the Serena that I've kept expecting to see this tournament but i. I was beginning to doubt whether she had that level of tennis in her to be honest because I thought I thought we might see Sloan. Stevens I, thought we might see it against Zachary thought we might see against Perron Covi-, kept expecting. To raise her level in this tournament and. She was saving it for today it seemed and as you said I, don't know how you can turn that tap on and off and have control. Today I just. Will be extra. Mom is lengthy. It was like the very revealing candid. Enlightening. pre-match interview with Victoria as Aranka. where she was asked about her poor record against Serena in grand, slams, what do you need to do to get the win tonight? Play better. or or I? will she treated about for match interview with the contempt? It deserves it was. It was great.

'Cuz a Houseplant Party Don't Stop

"Jean Perron. We've gotten off of your ledge for today. And now you're here in the indefensible plants headquarters talking with us. Welcome back to the PODCAST. Hi Matt I'm Yeah it's great to be here. Yeah those that maybe didn't listen to the last episode or a new I don't know who you are. How about we give a brief overview of what it is you do. What is what I do well in mainly just pfaff around with house plants. That's a very technical term. Faffing faffing around over that you probably don't we do? This means kind of like pottering about with House plans. That's basically what I like to but my training is as a journalist and I run a podcast. Could on the ledge. She's been going for an incredible three years now. Probably not was Lewis as Hamilton defense plants. Been going since someone eight fourteen. So yeah six years. Oh Gee plant podcast. Og well so on. The Ledge is aimed at anyone who's wanting to do any kind of indoor gardening and I've done one hundred thirty episodes of all kinds of stuff talking to plant people testing things out onto in people's questions and it's basically just a whole heap of fun chat about plants which is what we will love. It is fun. I also the other thing to say is I. Also you also see my name popping up in various Mainly British magazines and newspapers about all kinds of things. I like to say to people that you know tried to write about things that you might not read anywhere else. Som- currently restoring a bit of research for peace for the Financial Times which involves finding out. How much people's ashes? Way Back from the. Yeah so that's interesting. Can you guess how much how much some when you get the ashes back from a cremation? How much that weighs two kilograms? Okay I've only gonNA impound. Oh well to imperial us as metric. Lots of science lab all day so when it's five to seven pounds. What's that kilos? Good question about right about that point. Two pounds two point two pounds so yeah so I was just amazed by. That's anyway so as writing a piece about how spreading of ashes can be an issue in public gardens and how it causes problems for gardeners but also for relatives. It's a difficult decision as to how to deal with ashes and how you can do it. Responsibly and sensitively so lights. It chart do something a little bit different from the usual. Oh it's the month of the year that we think about pruning are Xyz. Because I you know. There's always room for those bras type pieces but I like to kind of try to be a little bit outside the box sometimes because it makes much more interesting. Sure Yeah and I think more people as you know gardening catches on in house plans catches on and really just all of the media. That's out there kind of swansea with the same stuff. Everyone's writing the articles. Those different ones really stand out in. It's one of those things where I go into a garden centre or get emails from publishers than its oldest new book on propagating succulent. How many of those do we need exactly or you know. Houseplants that clear. I would be much more interested in a really solid piece which was probably researched about other ways that you can clean the actually. I think probably opening the windows the best way of refreshing the air in your house. I mean it sounds terribly reductivist book. That's probably true. Yup then candles. Don't have plugging airfresheners. You know Yeah I would say that which I but we have to be honest with ourselves. I mean there is truth to some of the stuff but there's also a lot of misinformation and I think plants suffer from that more than other walks of life just because of the amount of sort of folklore and mysticism history. They have with our species for good reason. I mean plant should be celebrated but yeah I think they suffer from a lot of misinformation as well. Yeah I mean. Plants are incredible but let's not attribute to them characteristics that they don't actually possess because there's loads of cool characteristics. They do have so yeah. I think it's it's not. That's not the main reason to have plants in your houses is they're going to provide some moment incredible. Co Two scrubbing mechanism. You know that's that ain't that ain't GonNa Happen Really You better off. You know as I say not. Not Burning the candles. But yeah so my my. My realm is widely. I like to to sort of try to. I just basically find things I'm interested in. Then find somebody to commission a piece about them which is which is really nice to live. Yeah Yeah and you do in such fun ways. I mean. I've read a handful of your articles but obviously the podcast is. What really exposes me to your world view in what's going on and it is fun. It is entertaining. And you are taking a nice change of pace. From the general guarding houseplant. Podcasts that are out there I'm not denigrating any of them. I think they've all got merit in their own way because everyone has experiences but you are really doing it in a way that speaks to me on a deeper level. Because it's obvious you actually care about caring for these plants beyond just having pretty things. I we're going to be a bitch fest. Then about other. Podcasts I was getting ready to throw some shade person in Holter corddry would never have cost any Shea I love. Oh I think I'm really people sort of ood. Have you seen this this new podcast? You worried I'm like no. I'm really glad that there's another podcast because there's you know I know that nobody is me and therefore I think is already being done by me. So that wild. I feel worried about other podcasts. I think is fabulous to have all these different outlets and things that you can listen to it. It's amazing but yeah it is a funny response to get from people and I hear that from time to time like Oh you worried. I'm like why would i? Why why do you need to worry about? Is it a competition? The more people talking about plants the better off we're going to be. They need that attention they do. They do exactly and you know we got to be out that kind of combating. The as I say that the mainstream media kind of really not very good standard of journalism when it comes to talking about blance you know. The mainstream media does pick up on plants and does more but at the same time. It's great for people to have this source information which is hopefully reliable. I say that I did recently just realized listener got in touch. Say That I've messed up. I'd mixed up to Spider Plant. Cultivars in my spider plant episodes. I was horrified. I know the horror the horror anyway. I've corrected that now but it's that's the other great thing is that. I love the fact that people can actually come to me and say you know what you got that wrong and I can actually say. Yeah I did. You're right sorry and put it right. Which is so refreshing. I'm not I'm not a machine. Do get things wrong wrong there. I think the other thing that I'm sure you find with plants despite the fact that I love scientific grounding for fats at the same time you can't deny that there are people doing things which shouldn't work strictly speaking. That seemed to work for them. So everyone's got their own little ways of doing things in the house flaunt world and you can try to go backs practice based on science but sometimes something just comes up left field and works for you so I'm thinking of my beefsteak. Begonia in a container with no drainage right now which is still doing really well. Yeah it is funny that Gardening Kennedy teaches us that all the best laid plans can go away. Sta Depending on where you're at your conditions in you've attempted and that's why it's really hard for me to navigate those houseplant groups's because everyone's having success for different reasons and it's really hard to kind of tease out. What is working in y? Is working for some and not others and you know you're having any luck with begonias already far in advance of any luck that I have not had with Begonias so there is in the pudding. I thought I've given my begonias everything they could ever want from this world and never did I think no drainage would would succeed for

"You know that that you know what that belief. You're going to argue. That's why he saw it because he wanted to. But you know to me. It's him bringing no. I'm going to argue. Not that he wanted to is that he thought he was supposed to. Everybody else was seeing is what you're saying and then and then you know if you see something that could be fifty fifty science or paranormal. You'RE GONNA lean more towards the paranormal. Okay it makes. It seem like my arguments are all just like You know it's because people don't believe this way and people you know it's but the the the thing is there are certain circumstances that can cause people to see things into believe things a very well known skeptic I do not have permission. He's actually passed away. he He actually had a condition where he had to go into the hospital. And the condition got really bad really fast and he started to see everyone as aliens And this was a skeptic a full blown skeptic it would not believe in aliens not like me I kind of can but But so this person believed in that and it took his partner bringing his wife and his child to the hospital and once he saw the child he realized. It can't be an alien. Because this is you know this this kid that I've known in that's what clicked and made them realize it was his mind playing tricks on him interesting. But so that is a skeptic saying that If someone is a partial belief it's it's really easy to to believe these things I get you okay. No that makes sense. I understand your argument. I guess I wanted I as I said earlier. I think we talked about the the seance your the not technically an extra schism right okay So Cindy and Andrea were witnessed to this. They snuck down and saw it So I just wanted to see what they claim to have seen and it wasn't in the cellar. It was in the dining room. Okay yeah they think that's right yeah She said this is the only time I was truly terrified in that house was that night. Because she thought she's our mother die Her mom spoken voice. She had never heard before. And a power that was not of this world through her twenty feet across into another room And Actually Andrea read Believed that this cause her mamma concussion and that she didn't get over it for a very long time even just the physical part of it The MOM herself describes the events of that night is dreadful and added that the Warren tried to help but we Essentially found things got worse and Then her father. I guess was so upset by the events of that night that he actually asked the words to leave. So I think you talked about this earlier. You know that though. The warrants made it worse than they didn't work basically So I just thought the what do you think about that? The the claim that she spoke in different voice got thrown across the room. That kind of stuff well. These are typical things that people say with an exorcism. So I could see how the movie can portray this as an exorcism right I believe that there are some medical conditions that can cause people to speak in tongues Especially tongues that are not recognizable. And that's what I heard from Andrea Andrea spoke of the event that these are not this was not languages that she's ever heard on this planet so it didn't sound like it was Spanish. Didn't sound like it. Was You know Russian? It sounded like something different so they could just be made up word. Then at that point you know The throwing twenty feet in the air. I you know again. I'm not there. I didn't see it I'd love to believe them. I would love to believe them. But their credibility is Shaken and the Warren's credibility to me is shaken by the idea that they would that they would allow something to go out to the public before. They've actually researched it fully. I would never claim that somebody did something that heinous to put a needle in a baby's brain when there's nothing nothing that substantiates that at all. So my belief is that I don't have the credibility in the family. I definitely don't have the credibility in the Warren's I mean the Warren's take a piece from other little you know investigations to put in their museum that's in their house because only in their house. Can IT BE PROTECTED? But in other people's houses it can't be protected. They they make money. They make a lot of money. People don't realize how much money is in the paranormal. And I was talking about this before we started recording. If I was a believer or if I pretended to be a believer this podcast we would have a lot more fans. We would have a lot more lessons. I have no doubt that if I would come come out as a believer and started to preach the word of this that we could probably quit our day jobs and do this full-time but I can't do that. Because I am not going to bamboozle anybody I am. There is a good word. It is a good word. I am not going to do that because I have faith in humanity. I have faith that we're going to all do the right thing at the right time and to me the parent families not Okay all right. Well I'M GONNA save some of my suffer. The Font my final argument okay said that I don't WanNa repeat too much so the girls will move on. The girls also experienced things that they couldn't see I could see him my notes but it's Quincy. There are too many of them for us to talk about all of them. So I'm just going to mention a couple One is that they smelled a putrid smell that they smelled like rotting flesh I read one place. They would only smell in the mornings but everywhere else I saw. It said it could be any time they would smell it and then it would go away. they definitely had. This is part of the movie you did. They mentioned it several times. What do you think I think that could be any outside influence? That's not a ghost. It could be. Maybe they left a plate spaghetti the on the dresser. You know all these years. I don't know that I'm well. Maybe there's something outside that is causing that. Maybe another was their beds. Being lifted up off the floor at five fifteen Most mornings so it was like a certain time their beds would get lifted off. Okay so why? Don't we have video of this well because it was like early seventies so most people didn't necessarily have video but they lived there for ten years. That was the eighties and if this was really happening so by the way. I don't know if you've ever heard of James Randi the amazing Randi. Yes so the amazing Randi Started up a research I forget what he calls it but there is a paranormal research group that offered in nineteen sixty four one thousand dollars for anybody that could prove any paranormal activity and all it had to be was observed by a member of the whatever. James Randi Foundation for whatever It just had to be observed and they had to be able to prove that it was legit and That one thousand dollars over the years jumped up to one million dollars and nobody has ever claimed this prize. Nobody has ever successfully been able to demonstrate a paranormal activity. That's real ever I. You know it's one of those things I you know. It's it's a double edged. It's a IT'S A. It's an impossible situation. What is that when it's like an impossible for some? It's an immovable object or whatever it's called science well here's the thing had no because here's the other part of it right so we also know that. Mrs Sutcliffe you mentioned this earlier claim that the beds moved but said she said the explainable. Y- shook and said totally explainable. Just because it's an old house beds move for this wasn't levitating in the air though well but maybe to a little girl it was. You know it moving. They felt it was being lifted up. Whatever they didn't see it necessary. I'm GONNA use the old house thing for my thing but the thing is to me is that I I you know when a believer see something versus when a nonbelievers see something. They're going to look at it in a different way. So if I'm this amazing Randi Guy and I'm there in the room and I see this happen. I'm just going to be like whatever it was the house moving whereas then when the girls say yeah but like it happens often and it always happens at this time. happens to all of us. You know at different times or different days or whatever. Whatever was like fat doesn't seem likely and did anything else move. You know what I mean. It's like but again you're going to see what you WANNA see. So if you WANNA believe you're GonNa see it as a believe thing if you want. If you're a non believer you're gonNA see the nonbelievers thing and never the Twain shall meet. Actually what's what's funny about me. Is I typically start off going? Oh my God that had to have been this but then after I get away from the situation than I have time to process and then I changed my mind. Yeah you've had some stuff happen you will maybe one day. We'll talk about that. You've you've already talked about some of them. Yeah but there's more there's a lot more so crazy okay. All right you ready for I think the last couple here. We want to talk with the movie. Okay So the movie itself had a few creepy things that happened so You know some of them were things that the family claims I. I wanted to go more with the director and the crew Actually the director and the writers So director James Wan Was working on a shooting script in his Home Office before filming started and has Malamalama Multi Pu multiple. That's the cutest name ever puppy Lana reacted to an unseen presence She would quote. She would stare at the corner of the office. Make this really low growl want told the Daily News. She would just be growling away and she would just be tracking whatever. This thing is across my office just looking at following. She did this many many nights in a row and it just freaked me out so I'm say about. That is one of the biggest times that I noticed something like this was. I was dating a girl that was into horses and She would you know in the stable. They would ride the horses on. She was against the whole like jumping the horse in doing these weird things because like I found out that that's actually not good for the horse to do in some degree I don't know but anyways the horses would get spooked. Sometimes not at the same spot like like every single horse would get spooked at this one spot randomly. They would just get spooked. Horses have to wear those things to cover up the CY. Minders the blinders. Because they get spooked so much they just freak out for no reason and that has caused people to die because they've thrown people off. I hate to say die kind to be smiling a little bit with that. I don't know why I was but anyways I believe that we have no idea what this kind of thing is connection with dogs and and cats and other animals with anything else out there. We have no proof of anything. It's never been scientifically proven that yes dogs cats other things can see into other dimensions or see spirits are. Oh WE'RE GONNA BURN. GonNa explore this more in a future episode. Maybe maybe well no actually. I guess it's different where we're going to do but yeah all right all right so I actually want to go to Not THE NEXT ONE. But the next one okay. So we're we're talking about The some chatting Carey Hayes also wrote the screenplay So Carry Hayes says he started At all started when the Writers Would Call Lorraine Warren to discuss the four thousand cases. She investigated with her late husband their conversations it'd be interrupted by strange bursts of static on the line that sounded like a cascade of angry whispers. Judging by his brothers reenactment It was not something wrong with the line. You'd like to say that but it's not Warren now..

"All right so we're back. Usually Rebecca you do the whole debate. You present your evidence Saint Tail and then I tried to just refute it right. Yeah Today would you mind if I start the debate because I have something that I want to say about my own history? Oh okay does this once just this once so I happened to find an amazing article by Kenny Buydell from December twenty nineteen on skeptical inquirer. I definitely have to subscribe to that. Yes you do yeah I did. I found my people know you know what a lot of times Skeptics are a little bit too harsh for me. Sorry skeptic Bros. but I like to do things with kindness elope it okay so anyways He corrects a lot of the history of the house. And after reading it I came up with the a a concept of what might have transpired. This is patty theory of the case. Yeah so I believe that Caroline parent came up with the connection to Bethsheba Bethsheba Sherman. Green whatever you WANNA call her. I green was because she got remarried after after her her husband died. And I believe that. The warrants discovered the dark history of the Arnold's Family House.

"I've seen I think all of them though I didn't realize Lalla Rona think is the name of it just came out and I didn't realize that was actually also connected to this series. So yes and Bob has actually challenged us to do something with the conjuring three. I forget the the premise behind. I think it was the devil made me do it. Yes onset we will get to that. It's just not gonna be for a little while because we have a bunch more things to talk movies. Not Oh yeah yeah exactly. So Rebecca do you have a ghost story? I do all right. So this is The diary of Well well let me just read Newhouse Day. We're moving into a new house. Mama says is going to be bigger than where we live now and that it will have a huge yard where we can all play. I'm so excited day to and our new house. It's so much fun. I only have to share my room with one of my sisters and said of three of us in a room and there is so much room to run around and play hide and go seek and everything. The Yard is even bigger than Momma said. I can't wait to play tag out there. D thirty in our new house. It's been a lot of fun day today. Daddy made pancakes for breakfast. Because he's home for two days in a row the only thing that's weird as the doors keep opening and closing everyone keeps asking which one of us is doing it and then they always end up blaming me as the youngest but I swear it's not me day forty two and I've made a new friend? His name is Oliver Richardson. He's really fun to talk to because he always talks kind of funny and talk about things that I don't even know what they are. He says they're all from back when he was a kid but like he still is a kid he so silly he likes to play with. Toy. Sometimes they'll push the ball back and forth with me or we'll have a tea party. The funniest part is that he lives in my closet. I don't know why one day I just opened the door. And there he was. He dresses funny to He. Looks like the old pictures books. Today was weird though because Mama came in while we were having a tea party and she couldn't see Oliver. She just came in and asked I was talking to and when I said Oliver She and pointed to him she acted like I was making it up. Dole I'm confused. When she came in the room to talk to me more Oliver disappeared and I couldn't find him later when I looked in the closet. I hope he didn't get scared away day. Forty five and Oliver is back. He was gone for the last three days no matter how much I called for him but tonight after dinner when I looked my closet he was there. I asked him way laughed and he said he was scared of my Momma. His Momma wasn't very nice I guess and he doesn't WanNa play with anyone but me so I made a promise that I won't tell anyone else about him. Cross my heart and hope today they might scare them away and I don't want that he'll be my friend forever. Oh Wow so. Is that actually read diary or did you write that? I wrote that. Oh Wow okay. Yeah but it's based on a claim by the youngest and also mixed in some of the movie in there too just for inspiration for fun. Yeah Yeah we should probably take a break right before we get into the history. I think that's probably a history. Might be a little confusing but we're going to cover it all when we come back.

"Welcome to ghostly was the parent family home haunting as always. We're your host. I'm PAT and I'm Rebecca ghostly as a podcast that examines. It goes story from all angles. We go over the history in various evidence of the ghost story. Then we let you the listener decide if it's real or not. Today's episode is going to be huge but We do have business to cover before we get to the episode. So Rebecca. Do we have any listener mail? Of course we do. I WANNA hear it. Okay okay. How's Your Week Bennett? Are You doing okay? I am virus free right now. Okay so all probably I probably have some virus but not the virus. Gotcha I just wanted to check in do you not that I know of. I keep checking my temperature though just to be sure. Like how often are you checking your temperature? Well I guess I checked it earlier this week. 'cause I had like a scare moment but that was wait scare moments like I felt flush for some reason and so then I went and I took my temperature and it was Way Ninety eight point six normal. I was like ninety seven point nine or something like that. So you're dying right so you're pretty much you're becoming beyond debt. I think so. Wow that is not the podcast for this now. They are walking dead walking dead podcasts. Which if any of our listeners. Listen to walking dead just in case you don't know Patna also do walking advant cast which is me. Find that weirdly appropriate right now They can find it anywhere. They find. Good podcasts It's just searched. The walking dead podcast. Dv M. p. e. 'cause that's the network the network the D. vm production. And all right. Okay here we go. This is another listener mail. Ghostly society facebook group so if you haven't joined this is the time just ghostly sleep society on facebook and I join you know. It's it's a lot of fun there. I mean seriously I enjoy seeing other people like interact on these same topics and use the same critical thinking that we've been going over. Yes 'cause they'll be like. Hey this is something happened to me. What do you guys think? And then people kind of debate it. It's well I'm I'm especially proud of the moments when people are like you know I used to. Just be a straight up believer in all this but now I question it and I usually still come up to be a believer. I take time to think about it. And that is that makes me proud me too me too. Yeah all right so. This is one of our top listeners. Whitney top listeners. She is our top is awesome. She is awesome and she's always posting and got a lot of fun stuff So she says Pat You will probably have a field day with this my friend and roommate by the way she did get permission from the room. That's it took us a few weeks before we read this Who her roommate goes by the name of Rabbit Rabbit has been an actual rabbit or is it no named rap person named nicknamed rabbit okay. I'm fine with that. All right has been seeing and hearing things his entire life. He has many stories but one in particular still ongoing from when he was a child. He believes that he's being plagued by Mitch mischievous spirit that he is named Bob. Oh I am too. Yeah by Bob Anderson from Bob after dark spirit that just plagues you keep putting these micro-climate ideas in my head. Yeah Over the years Bob is made his presence known to all of us. Rabbit claims he frequently moves things to a place where they should not be for. Example rabbit used to smoke an old fashioned tobacco pipe. He always placed in his bedside drawer and in his nightstand. Before going to sleep one morning he woke up and it was no longer there. Robert searched Oliver's room but he could not find it anywhere. I needed to go into rabbits room to borrow a cord to charge my phone as my court shorten it and I would not be able to get to the store until much later I went nowadays. You can't get to the store at all well though this was. Yeah you can tell. It's dated story. That was when we could go in Papua stores. I went searching for because they normally do not go into his room. And have no idea where you normally puts things. Even though he's meticulous about where things are put so he can find them quickly when he wakes up. That sounds like you pat. I couldn't find it in any of the spots. I thought were obvious so I looked in the drawer under the foot of his bed. There was his pipe when he got home. I told him I found the pipe. And where where? And he just looked at me confused. He never uses that drawer for anything in his door. Stays locked due to pass issues with things going missing from his room so no one besides him myself and my husband could have moved it and none of us did. Bob also seems to get frustrated with my husband. My hubby is firmly on the Hashtag schemes. Team skeptic side. Oh I like her husband. This is despite the fact that Bob throws things that John from time to time. Especially if we've been talking about him recently and John has voiced his opinion that he does not believe Bob exists normally a short Shortwhile after this declaration something that John is place down near himself will fall to the floor. Once it was a plate of Spaghetti that he had put at the back of the wide of a wide dresser that was against the wall. Everyone in the room was more than arm's length away and it fell off in front of the dresser face down. We know it didn't just fall off the edge because the dresser was much wider than the plate also the Renault animals in the room at the time because we were eating in the door was closed to keep them out. Wow sounds very mischievous yeah. Poltergeists definitely in the Bob thing really rings true to me. Yeah I think Bob you know since his psychic powers to like knock play. Spaghetti off my my dresser too often things missing you believe in. I like to put Spaghetti on my dresser. I think that is the appropriate place for Spaghetti. It is the appropriate place table no dresser. Yeah totally yes there. There's our listener mail today. So that's exciting. If you've listener mail send it on over Info at ghostly podcasts dot com or you could message us on any of the socials you got it facebook and STA INSTA- instead I just caught I g Graham. I call it a G G or twitter tweets the tweets the twitter's. Yeah that place to yes. You could send it anywhere or you could even go on our website. Ghostly PODCAST DOT COM and you can click on the contact us button and there's a form right there you just fill out. He's ended off. It is definitely while I wanNA think Whitney for sending that in. That was a very good story. Yes that's a fun so Yes now we have the history and the debate and then we're going to close this out. I think you're missing one thing. I thing I'm not missing anything like what the polls don't yet time for the Bulls. I actually pulled the number so I know what it is. We don't need to talk. We do now we should. We mentioned a little bit about where the polls are S. Before right give you what the the is so We were putting it on our facebook page where we get a pretty good response usually We were happy that we were getting so many responses But facebook decided because of the election or maybe krona virus. We can no longer do polls on a page and it's really random too. It's like sometimes you're able to post some things and I am or this time. Neither of US really could the page the page pay. No I was able to. Oh Yeah Up. Until a certain point. After that point they're done. Yeah so in our on ghostly society. We can post a poll sometimes. Yes so we will do that. We will continue to do that. So join the ghostly society I'm also we decided that wasn't enough. 'cause that's you know. We want this to be for everyone. Yeah so we put it up on. Ghostly PODCAST DOT COM. Yep and you can just click on the polls button and it's right there or on the show no pay. I will absolutely have a link right at the beginning. I'm thinking it doesn't have to be a link. It could be the poll. Well it could vote right on that page. Oh how fancy is this right? Yeah good so all right so here we go. We don't know we still have to to give the results. So our votes are. This is very precise Seventy six point nine two Yes the site of the old Chicago City. Cemetery is haunted and twenty three point. Eight percent said no well It is very precise and we added. I added in all of the math. No I put it in the in the web page. It did it for US I. It's Nice I hated to do it though. Yeah now even counted one that was in the comments. I could just ignore that one could have but I didn't I was nine. Would it in there. It was nice but I lost. I lost badly but you know what I really enjoy doing that episode. It was super fine. We that was. That was the last time we'll ever be in the large group of people long time. Yeah so if you didn't meet up with us at the meet up you might never see us or we'll be like behind glass right. Yeah we'll be like the pope mobile. Yeah we'll have the ghostly mobile all right so let's talk about what this episode is going to be about in this episode. We are going to be going over the story behind the conjuring which is the Perrin family story. Yes we're also going to talk a little bit about Ed and Lorraine Warren As they relate to the story although this is not a Ed and Lorraine episode but I think we should do that. Well I do but I also feel like they have so many individual stories that I wanna like. Maybe we could do like a month. Give where Wolf story they do. We gotta get to do that. Yeah well we're going to do the Enfield huntings at some point. And they're a big part. Well no actually. They're not a big part of that. They're just a little part of that. But that's in the conjuring to rescue conjuring too. Yeah I heard that that was totally debunked but I would love to do definitely not but anyway I would love to but yes we will be Adler and we're going to show up a lot and maybe they'll get their on episode at some point. Yeah so how did you come about the PAREN- story The movie actually. Yeah I did not know about it before that I saw the movie and at the end of the movie. It says this is based on a real story. And so then I I read about it. I think up until two thousand seven or so. It was more of a local story. There are some local Newspaper articles things like that. And there was one from seventy seven that I actually put in here to get So yeah so I believe up until then it was really like localized story. I had never heard of this story and I'd never watched the movie. I don't get it so I mean I m coming into this totally totally blind. I had no idea what to expect. I didn't even know what the movie was about. Tatra mean I can kind of figure out the conjuring you know they're bringing forth something you know. That's what it means to me. The name doesn't necessarily match movie to me but that's okay. Yeah it's it's it's yeah. I agree well. Originally the movie was going to be called the The Warren files. And that's what they were going to do but then they decided to go a different direction. Yeah because not everyone had heard of the Warren's right and I mean there's a lot of movies the Annabelle movies none. You know a lot of movies. That are all kind of part of that. But they all kind of spread out a little bit further than just the words yet. Now I had heard of the Warren's Before watching this so when I saw that it all kind of connected and they are responsible for what Amna Ville Yeah. They're the first people then started talking about that. That's an IRA less. Yeah amongst amongst other really big stories too But I found it a little hard to do research for this story Especially versus all of our other stories like Oliver other stories. You know you can get an account of the history of the story and this is what I do the history pie right so I found it actually kind of difficult to find what I was looking for because everything Was a paranormal site. That did it which you know. That's fine and that's some of what I took from. I always do but I find that that sways one way all the time like more neutral sources yeah neutral or I hate to say this. But the skeptics sites tend to have more the history and then the skeptical parts so it's easier for me to dissect what I'm looking for So anyways but I was able to eventually find what I was looking for and I am so excited about this episode. I've been thinking about it for a while and I am pumped me too. I mean this is one of my favorite movies. I love the whole series..

Houseplant Takeover with the RHS Gardening Podcast

"Welcome to the gardening podcast house plan special. My Name's Matthew pottage and the curator of our chest Garden Weasley and. I absolutely love house plants. I think I mentioned him a few times. I'm here before and for very very special one off episode. I'm joined by. I want to call them the Queens of house plants and Swiss Bank from gardeners question time and Jane Perron from on the Ledge. And we're going to have a bit of key cow talking about houseplants so yeah this is the first of its kind. I going to call it a podcast swap. Jane ever to you I can you explain to us about on the ledge and how that's GonNa emerged with. The rich. Has podcast today. Well it's a wonderful opportunity to have our listeners. Listen to a podcast and my podcast is weekly. Pool cost per house plants that I've been making taking since February two thousand seventeen and it's basically just my excuse to talk about house plants because nobody else in my family's interested in God. I just decided to start a podcast to provide an outlet for my conversations and also just as a way of being able to email somebody and say. Did you want to have a chat with me about gives Mary and actually have a reason to do it. which is putting on the podcast? So it's just a personal passion that's turned into a bit of a an ongoing thing thing and I have great from here and he's also become a reunites community of listeners. Around the world just great. It's really really good. And and I mean I see you as a bit of a current trend in house plans now. But I mean you've been stalwart kind of a real champion of house plants for years but you know pulling faces the busiest because I started to grow them when I was very young. And obviously I think I've sort of became known ernest houseplant. Lady tonight because of being a whistle looking of previous glasshouses glasshouse supervisor and then subsequently going onto gardeners world when and Jeff Hamilton was the presenter going up to Rutland where he lived. He really wasn't interested in house and so he was really really happy for me to take that over and I guess that's where I really got the sort of title of House Plot Lady House Plant Queen so we are going to start our journey into house plants. I should do some homework and I can see. You've absolutely follow the requests. We've got some beautiful bits of plant material on the table and some very nice photographs on here. Yeah so can you tell me l.. Can we talk a bit about a plan. That inspires your interest into indoor plants. Hopefully we'll see some images of it or enjoy my one because this is just in the mind brain but the one that I wanted to talk about was in Mali. Doc Surgery as a kid and other if you remember they used to be. This is way back. You use those colored lights and they would let your light with your doctor would lie up would earn. And then you'd be called in you put number up and right next to that. was this huge Swiss cheese. Plan the monster delessio which is so trendy now but this was like back in the day this was late nineteen seventies antes and it was just huge and it was going everywhere and they're rare real roots all over the place and I don't think it probably got watered reported more than once in a blue moon but I just sitting there waiting waiting for my doctor's appointment looking at this plant and going. What is it that I come from? Why is that in here? Not Spark Fascination for me and it took require a few years to get my first Swiss cheese plant but it was something that sparked off that interest in indoor plants. And they seem to you when you do see them are ending waiting rooms James. I remember one in the hospital for my hometown. And because they would normally grow up trees on scaling up any kind of structure. They don't need massive pulse pop studio so they can get enormous plants with a small pot roots everywhere and as long as like a corner Selena to or something. Just keep going. And if they've got the ceiling room the leaves get bigger AK- bigger and bigger and I do wonder what not to do with a lot of people who are buying these plans now. And they're buying them as dinky little two foot tall have any conception of what what they're letting themselves in for if they have this plan long-term because they can get monstrously large which is wonderful testing grace about plants. Though isn't it you get the small cutting or you get the small planet. That's just come in fresh. And it's the character that it forms grows older that really fascinates me Aneka so character for how about you. What was your elementary or inspired? Hold on back in the sixties. When I started to collect house falls at dusk us make me sound very old doesn't it? Most of them came to me. As small pieces of succulents CACTI Pelayo names busy leases from other people's Window Sills All they would hand me plants that they had bought an had nearly died. And that's how will my plants came to me so I would get brought along a picture of the candle handle cactus and you can see where it's called the candle cactus because it SORTA got all these candlelight sections it's the plant I still keep now is not Severi Pucci plant. It grows in the winter and my family along the plant we have and they always get it down at Christmas time from my window sill. Because it's very celebration debray shree it produces little flowers on long stalks to like grandson'll and they turned into dandelions. Who is maybe thirty says to me? We need to get the Dan Dhillon plant down waving stunned lines so it's like a Christmas decoration that has to come down in the middle of winter and joins us in the sitting room for a few weeks peaks than it has to go back upstairs again so it's still grow it that to me. It takes me right back things like the Mexican hat ply. They were the social approach. Things that circulated because we didn't have many places to go and Bali them in a funny sort of way garden centers or mass hadn't been invented back then. It was florist shops and private collections. So trying to cast my mind back to early memory. I spent a lot of time with my grandma. If you had a big collection of Palestinians and I was never as a kid taken by lot's of smelly leaves and all red and pink flowers. She grew them for the flowers. They're just wearing very appealing to me but I do remember this higher shelf in her. Greenhouse with these CACTI on and there's one acti- that particular drawn to I thought completely different from all the others and eventually years down the line when she passed away managed to get hold of this cactus which identified as fellow actors. M Roy I am always reminded me of it wasn't in a very good state was nearly brown all the way up and eventually I lost are still quite young kid at the time but then I came across a few years ago and a garden centre it was just in a mixed cactus trae. I was so delighted to see it again and I thought I will have that for my office window so that work because it was grandma. Got Me into plants and that will just be a little bit of my childhood memory. So I wasn't going to bring on the chew because it's quite fierce thing. There's an image talk show you've seen them before but that lovely red spine and quite a Bluey grey body to it. I prefer succulent CACTI in not into CACTI tableau of masses of smaller spines but something like that with the big fat red spines are quite sparse. I just find that quite fficials things. Yeah ed I mean you only need to like walk into a couple of times and I mean my mom would never want to the in house when I was younger. The grandmas because North People have net curtains everywhere. Of course terrible terrible problems with the nets it stuck on

"Well, there's we what we don't know. Like a lot of aquatic animals have various ways of detecting movement in the water like detecting, like even like the movement of water the movement of. On the things around them. And I think there's probably a lot of research that could be done on the ability of snakes to detect that that has studied. Okay. So there's probably some other senses there that we know whole ton about. So how are they just detecting the movement then of this snake charmer and coming out like when people are like people who are trying to charm snakes. Yeah. Yeah. So. I mean, there's so many things that are going on there. So in most cases, what we see with snake charming is that those animals are like on death's door. So they're probably not well fed on all these super dehydrated. They've oftentimes for things like a lot of the cobras. They've actually had the they're what we call venom Lloyd they've had the venom glands removed or they've at least had the failings broken off oftentimes had their mouths sewn shot. So if you actually like look closely at like, high quality photos of people who are timing snakes. You can oftentimes see some of the remaining sutures where their mouth, so. So how did the fucking snake seat? Yeah. Exactly. So maybe every so again, you're talking about animals they can go for months at a team to make videos about this. Well, pita not local. So yeah, what we're saying? With snake charming is that it's not about the sound probably at all. They're probably looking at the movement probably about the movement. Crazy. But it's also the case that they're probably not able to do anything to the person because they've had all these other things. Yeah. Okay. Another classic horror movie trope mostly with sharks or like when we talked about Lake Placid. I think like blood in the water and that like tracks. How did they how is there? Not a piranha theme in Anaconda like God. Then there's like never an aunt never Perron. And no, it's all like, snakes, baby. He made a joke at one point. But like they never bring in the Perron is in the movie parental. I love when he he bled out the one Jon Voight blood out the monkey and had that barrel a monkey blood and tosses it on them. Right. But that's what I'm saying. Is this idea of like sending the prey on them? That's different. Like there. What you're trying to do is your. I mean, it's weird to it's actually really weird to think about doing it with blood like this totally no, honestly any point in the blood. Will you should really do? Like, a snake is not sensing the blood of its favorite prey item. A snake is like smelling that prey item. Like, okay when we smell a cow a living cow. We're not smelling steak now. Unfortunately, we're smelling like barnyard. Yeah. Yeah. So if you want to actually make something smell like a common prey item. You don't throw his blood on it, you take that dead animal. Like, if you think at this thing eats monkeys will then take the monkey and rub them all over with the monkey make smell like a monkey, and that's going to draw the snake towards was confused about that. Because it's like, I don't know. I always see it with sharks. And I thought oh. Maybe they just thought ads the same shit covered in blood shorts actually are detecting thing. Right. Is it but sharks feed Natoli different way? Like snakes eat there in general. This isn't true for every species of snake. But for almost over species of snake, the snakes eat the entire thing. Hol in that. I just attract will then stomach breaks down. Right. Yeah. So they're not sensing the blood. They're thinking about what does this thing? Smell like from the outside there for what is it? Do. I want to eat it. Yes. Then they're going to eat it. But they're not thinking about like the blood got sharks. Absolutely. They're not just taking out things in the water. But like once they bite something in a falls into pieces..

Aviation Workers Caution Another Shutdown Could Affect Holiday Travel

"Among other things the partial government shutdown affected aviation security, though, fears of another shutdown have eased fears of security problems have not NPR's David Schaper reports throughout the reason. Five week partial government shutdown air, traffic controllers continued to work without getting paid until day thirty five that's when a handful of controllers called in is unable to work at two east coast air traffic control facilities short the FAA had dramatically slow air traffic in the heavily congested northeastern US airspace. Grounding planes at New York's LaGuardia and other airports lengthy flight delays and cancellations mounted and within a few hours, President Trump and congress finally ended the shutdown but only for three weeks. This is all just abysmally stupid. Oregon democrat Peter defazio chairs the house transportation committee. It's absolutely absurd to think that we're going to allow another shutdown of air, traffic control and the. FAA defazio wants to insulate the FAA and keep its employees working and paid during a shutdown. We collect the tax every day and that tax was collected every day during the shutdown and went into the airport and airway trust fund, we should just allow the agency to draw on that trust fund and never shut down. Again, depaz you'll has a Bill to do just that. And his committee is holding a hearing on today, but the legislation cannot become on time to prevent another possible shutdown this weekend, and that's raising safety concerns. Again. Mike Perron is president of the union representing airplane inspectors, safety technicians and other regulators every day that goes by that people are not working doing their jobs or doing on a stressful conditions, the possibility of safety being eroded is definitely there. And if airline crews believe safety is compromised, they won't fly says Sarah Nelson of the association of flight attendants flight attendants are going to watch very carefully. And we are not going to come to work in an unsafe system. The flight attendants and other unions are planning rallies in the coming days in hopes of increasing pressure to avert another shutdown. "President Mike Perron speaking at a rally at the capitol building in DC last week since then furloughed Federal Aviation Specter's have been picketing outside of airports and air. Traffic controllers have also been protesting. They even started handing out flyers yesterday about how the shutdown makes flying unsafe at airports serving Atlanta. Dallas Raleigh n Minneapolis. This is the takeaway, I'm tansy Nevada. Pictures. Trish Gilbert is the executive vice president of the national air traffic controllers association, Trish, how is it going for air traffic controllers today. Well, I they're feeling a lot of anxiety a lot of uncertainty, and it's a profession where you need one hundred percent of your focus one hundred percent of the time on the task at hand, which is ensuring the safety of flight. And unfortunately, when they're stuck in the middle of a political game or swore somebody's trying to be a winner. And it turns out those that are losers are the people just trying to do their jobs, and that's the people I represent they are they're going to work there, providing the service that they've all all proudly want to do unfortunately as they worked during the holidays, Christmas and New Year's weekends nights. They say they woke up if they're not already work with zero in their paycheck for the work that they've done since. Beginning of the year one paycheck. I think most are makes them nervous that it has gotten to this point. I think the real concern comes as uncertainty and win. The next one's going to come. How long will this last the months and years statement has just caused a lot of anxiety in a workforce that doesn't need to have that distraction? They need to be focused on the job that they they really proud to do tell us a little bit about the lawsuit. What are the goals of the suit? We know that congress approved a measure to offer back pay to furloughed employees. But as you said air traffic controllers, the check is showing zero dollars. So what is the lawsuit and what are the goals? Correct. You know, the back pay is I don't think those that are going to work. There's I I know that they're going to get paid. They realize they're going to get paid. They just don't know when those that are furloughed and sent home and allowed to work that was you know, uncertainty there, and so congress did pass that provision. It hasn't been signed into law by the president. So there is a little comfort there for those that were forced home. But the lawsuit is based on our what we believe violation of the fifth amendment. Which is there was no due process. When property was kept from the people, and we believe pay is their property once they've performed the work. They are do that pay. Well, and obviously there was you mentioned the fifth amendment. There was an op Ed in the New York Times yesterday that encouraged TSA workers to strike, we're one of the things they brought up there in this op Ed was that these workers have a moral right to strike because of the things that you are pointing out that they've been forced out of the jobs that that. That they have been hired to do. Well, I can't speak to TSA and and the conditions. They're working under imagine. They're very similar. I know my workforce. And I know that to them this is not just a job. They report to every day. And I'm not saying that's the case with TSA. I'm just saying that my members and proud to do the work that they do for this country. It's five percent of the gross domestic product for this country is an economic engine for this country. And they proudly do it. They they're aviation professionals that that believe in flight and what what flight brings to this country moving the military through the airspace. Passengers general aviation business aviation and most importantly, air, ambulance. They they know they need to be to work. So people can get to where they need to be. So this country can keep moving forward. I understand Trish. I'm wondering if because of all of those things because of the dedication that you're outlining because of the fact that these folks have not been paid. Because of the fifth amendment it caused that you mentioned and also this this idea of a moral right to strike. I'm wondering does that push the union any closer to approving a strike? Oh, absolutely. Not absolutely not we we would never endorse or condone any kind of action taken that that would take our work and our skills away from the task at hand. Absolutely. Not trish. What's the breaking point? Then I think that's going to be different for every individual. You know, those that are in the lower pay scales. That are not certified completely in the profession might look for employment. Elsewhere, especially in those living in high cost living areas like Oakland, New York, Washington, d c southern California. Those individuals will probably be the first to look for other other things I don't know how long different people are going to be able to go without a paycheck. And but you can't expect it to last months and years the people won't. They'll individually look for other employment. We already know of people that are looking for other employment, and we already know of people that are working second jobs at this point, which is really concerning because we are already thirty year low in staffing. Meaning we have fewer fully certified controllers in we then we should about two thousand and they're working already mandatory overtime before this even occurred. So now, they're working longer and now not just longer providing air traffic control services, but driving Uber's before and after their shift this is concerning to us, and it should be concerning to the American public as well. And you also mentioned the staffing shortages there is a shortage of air traffic controllers one in five today are eligible to retire. Does that put an additional pressure on you all to kind of figure out what to do is there is there a question of trying to find new air traffic controllers? Are you looking at training for the folks who as you as you said, you know, people can't go. Oh, weeks and weeks and weeks without getting paid. So you could I think see more folks leaving the industry this is going to be long lasting again. We were already short-staffed now they've closed our academy in Oklahoma City, which is where our new hired individual start their career. They start their training. It takes two to three years to certify as a controller. So it's not something you can do overnight. It takes some time. And then you mentioned one in five or eligible to retire and out of frustration. They they they might actually do that. And we're very concerned about that. So we will be feeling the effects of this long. Well after the government does open, but we certainly it's not sustainable where we're at. Now, we're really going to have to work very very hard to focus on training and hiring. Once we get out of this. Otherwise, the system will start to fill capacity issues, the past, you know, those that fly will start to feel the delays in the system when we're not able to staff our radar rooms in our towers across the country. I think we're already starting to see evidence of some of that with just. Social media photos and things that people are posting, you know, historically. I mean there was a strike in one thousand nine hundred eighty one of air traffic controllers that forced the country. I guess to understand what their concerns were. And what they did. Do you see any parallels with that strike one thousand nine hundred one to what's happening today? It's it's completely different that was a disagreement between the union and their employer. This happens to be a disagreement between an administration and congress and has nothing to do with aviation. So we're kind of stuck in the middle. The members that I represent aren't partisan. They aviation's not partisan, and they don't have an opinion on this political argument. That's occurring. They do expect their leaders those that work for us in government to figure this out. We expect them to get to. Yes. Not to get to an impasse. And it stay at this impasse. If there was. Any kind of indication that they were getting closer together instead of further apart. I think our members could start to relax and focus better on their job. I feel like this would be a redundant question. But I'm going to ask it anyway, where do air traffic controllers go from here. Given the standstill that you've outlined, and I think that we're all experiencing witnessing this feels like it could be a pretty severe blow to the industry. It is it could it could cause irreparable harm and nobody wants that navy. We have the aviation industry is completely in line with opening the government and not hurting the system any more than they already then it's already been heard. But where do we go from here? You know, we're talking to the media as much as we can where at airports across the country, sixty ports our air traffic controllers at a furloughed or they're going before or after work, and they're handing leaflets to the flying public taking our message to them. So they understand that the shutdown does affect the entire country. It does not just affect federal employees the ripple effect to those that depend on the federal government being at full capacity there also impacted and and that's concerning as well. Eventually we'll fill it throughout. But right now, our our membership is taking that message to the airport. We've been on the hill as well meeting with our members of congress, they're bringing their stories to them their concerns to them, and we're asking them to act we're asking them to in the shutdown today. It's just unreasonable to expect that people would go for months and years to work without receiving a paycheck, Trish Gilbert is executive vice president of the national.

"Kerber on the call here on cammo ex big saves a rhino rally goal, but Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist just too tough. Both teams are change pass up from Allen to portray Angelo shoots sit in. Let me go through Barbara chef. Son quest put it to the goal and Lundquist they'll make the save on Sundquist still. It's a one one game in the second period until it's not. From ABC to the neutral zone and rink wide pass to Kevin shattenkirk in pockets dumped in the collected along the wall. It's cleared up to the line and Rangers at a lot of guys on the ice the shooting a scar. They deflect it in front, then it goes off a skate and underneath the Pat Alan on the fire side, New York leads to to one and that is the extent of the scoring last night. The blues cannot come back to win. Well last night the Saint Louis blues loss to the New York Rangers by a score of two to one. They did end up. Putting a ton of pressure on finishing with thirty eight shots on goal and entering Lundquist. The games number one star had thirty seven saves. But the only goal of the game came in the first period Ryan O'Reilly for David Perron at ten eight. And that would be the only scoring blues. Gallon was good. But not quite good enough as he was out dueled by Lundquist Saint Louis blues penalty killing allowed a goal in the power play went powerless at over four. Enjoy the tally a better all around game for the sT Louis Blues, but more is going. To be needed as the Washington Capitals. Come to town on Thursday big tests here in a few nights. But last night the Saint Louis blues came and brought a lot of great effort five on five. I thought it was a solid effort all round from the entire lineup. Jake Allen played pretty good. But he was out battle like you mentioned by Henrik Lundqvist the blues allow the range of tie the game one to one heading into the second love the blues response. But they let up a soft goal in that second period. And really couldn't fight back the effort was there. The shots were there. The bodies were there. It was good energy. Good passion, all knife. The Saint Louis blues there certainly ways to win. And there are certainly ways to lose. And this is how you lose games. The blues continue to play this. Well and continue to play at this pace. They're not gonna lose many more games this season. But without question. The special teams have to improve improve the blues. Want to move forward in the season. And what a battle that was by that blues line of Hsien Fabri and Peron in front of the Red Wings net and Peron snaps that one on the side of the net. And and again, it's a big goal for David Perron. And I think there's been a lot of lying juggling between the two coaches, but that's a line that I really enjoy watching play. And if you're going to be without Jay Schwartz. For awhile steamed terrorists and Riley was pretty solid as well. But Peron Hsien and Fabri it adds speed it, adds grit. And it adds a guy who goes to the front of that while two guys. I guess if you want to be honest with Shannon, perran, not afraid to go to the front to try and get a couple of tips, or at least muck it up with with some of the opposition.
