"To a jewel and moving forward to the muscles in cheeks. Of course jon rahm. Many other people have taught when we put a slot. Mona leaves a small pies. We begin to activate the eventual response of the vegas nerve which evokes the sense of not only relaxation but a feeling of wanting to connect with others and winning to connect with ourselves relaxing the pitcher this right the shoulders down into the hearts and spreading away to south throughout the hot center all the way through to the back answer. The dog framed the stomach pelvis paying special attention to the sense of grounded. Nece the low pot a bad body hips legs contact with the floor bid with their legs with fayed and so we are arriving now. Arriving wear arriving here in our body grounded in the earth the aggies talk about kosta in the stance of the mountain. The body was a mountain steady. Still the earth element arriving now wayne right now not five minutes into the past not five minutes into the future arriving right now permission to let go of the past and the future it is saif enough to dedicate your attention to just being here receiving now as you do begin to sprayed your awareness out to the now of your experience in the body. Now what does your body feel like. Now as we're sitting here breathing a notice that you don't have to if it to brain the breathing will take care of itself as you decide to trust the breath as you decide to trust the ground that you're sitting on to support you can be a sense of relief. At letting and allowing these processes to unfold naturally into a deeper and deeper sense of stillness a deeper and deeper sense of spacious and so not actually looking at noticing the breath pesci. We're watching the body breathing..

"Knowing that there are many of them predispose us to begin to have five to look for those weak positive experiences. The next step two step is to have the experience have the experience next tip is to enrich the experience in other words duchess. dismiss it. Someone wives that you someone smalls at shirt. Just blow it off. Let yourself feel that experience. Let you sell show up for that experience. See if you can pay attention to that person smiling that person really being the As the person as you talking to the person making the coffee really be there and get into that feeling of connection with the person smaller that dog that walks down the path in lake manga. The third thing that you need to do is begin to let that experience. Let that experience touch us in other words let that feeling of joy sinking to our bonds and here in we may have some little unconscious in the water supply. Rules that on. That's all the people. I need to work hard. And strive in this nar. In this moment. I can receive like can allow these experiences of feeling. Good in like in this in like an allow myself to feel my interconnectedness with other people and as you do that that does a whole lot of really really good things. A lot of really good things. It lowers at physical stress levels as psychological stress levels and it builds hope it bills hype allies. Hyping it ourselves in that we can have a life an hoping humanity as well and that bills a since a stronger sense of common humanity and then when the tough times come when the tough times come you've got all these little deposits in emotional bank balance. Okay of this muscial buoyancy and when the tough times come you can go through the tough times understanding with right view of the buddha that everything is trying to treat and that you can hold yourself in a state of buoyancy hope and faith and kindness towards yourself and wisdom that this difficult time will pass and you can begin to whole yourself and sit in that space as you go through the difficult situation. Perhaps it's the death of a loved one or loss of a job or something like that that there is a sort of psychological spice and psychological stands between me and this experience over here on not pushing it away. I'm not minimizing on letting myself feel the pie. But i've got other stuff that can wrap myself around that pine and hold me as i go forward in here in. This process is the belief system. That i am worthy to receive worthy to receive. Okay now this is a fairly significant issue. If we have had experiences where we have had messages that we are not worthy to receive for example issues to do with mystic all and so workplace bullying schoolyard bullying something like they can be. It can be a little bit problematic and you might need some tweaking around issues around opening up to feel worthy to receive it. There's a certain sense of security in actually fighting into the wallpaper in life and not actually being being part of life. They can be all just fighting to the wallpaper lock. And i have a few people that i'm aware of professionally who taken a stance that i'll just dodge the problem by fading into the wallpaper and actually just go along with life but the problem is that at a certain point in lock realize. I'm completely without any sense of agency in life. And oftentimes the penny drops in their thirties and forties and fifties and people have difficulties from that point on. So i'm talking about these things nap because we're going to practice now where we begin to identify these practices in terms of the buddhist teaching on the loving kindness when he told us to write loving cohen is upwards to the sky and app damage to the dips atwood's and unbound free from hatred and ill will so what that means on my personal experiences. What that means is a sense of spacious nece of this feeling in the body. It's not not an idea. It's a semantic feeling which exudes from the body into the mine and out beyond to in all directions as the buddha toward and it needs to go both ways. So i'm going to ask you to think a little bit about a couple of different sorts of experiences positive experiences before we get into this. The first one is bring to mind a benefactor and a benefactor. Is someone in your life that has been i mean tool for you a coach for you someone who has been on your side who supported you who you know has got your back and you know the that was just one of the best for you when you think of that person is oftentimes most people report a sense of just relaxing the sense of safety and a sense of being in the spice of goodwill and loving kindness another way to access all getting to this experience is to focus on what i call a caring moment now the so the first one is the person the second was experience. Okay what a what a carrying moments in senior live when people have included you. They you know last week. Last time i talk. I talk about Being kid filled feeling kid about it means being had experiences in my life. Where i've been seen by this really saying have been included in a group and people have gathered me into the group and asked me to participate. Have i been. Have i experienced situations where i have felt accepted by. Someone else really accepted for who and what i am. Have i been in a situation where it's fairly clear this personal these people like me and of course have i experienced a situation where person has deeply loved me. It's a little bit of an example. But you might have your own. I variations on that john. Krinsky talks about is a put teacher. is allama. He talks about An experience when he was five year old and he had an auntie who was just a an ati full of joy and he was remembered coming home from school and yada would throw our hands up the johnny johnny. What's happened today. And little johnny's eyes would light up and that's a caring moment. That's a caring moment who is five years old but you know sixty years later. It's still caring moment. So what carrying moments of i got in my life having a little bit of a think about that because we're going to use this stuff in the mirror and the third access to the sense of loving kindness and compassion is a religious figure. We might have a faith.

"Well good evening everybody. Welcome along to the people in the whole tonight. And those are the people on the internet. Welcome along to the buddhist societies. Meet wake meditation and just before we kickoff in before. I introduce to not speaker again. I would like to remind everybody that the keg the k group telephone lines are open. Now we have k group listeners up in the house ready to take your call so if you would like to call in you can call in and talk about anything that you like And of course that's available really for anyone anywhere around the world. You will be able to see the telephone numbers at the bottom of the screen. So just a reminder that the kahlon is is now open ready for us and not once again. we're very very pleased to have Along area Chris perez one of their Dedicated members he's made a member here at the society for many many years longtime practitioner and Being interested in meditation all of his life. I think when. I introduced him last time. I mentioned that he even had a little bit of a turn at i at being a yogi In the in the hindu tradition back when he was very very young to use threes. So he's very well qualified and he's the way that he works usually used to use. He's professionals a psychologist very good psychologist. And he uses that profession to to really into sake with the dhamma and the why the buddha taught the dhamma are otherwise very very interesting and very nice to hear the why chris. Present the buddha's dhamma and that's really what these wins ought really all at just being able to to give some of the community a chance to just to expand on the their own dhamma practice and why it works for them and hopefully to pass on some tips for you too so that further. Do i'll hand. Chris bury now will deliver. tonight's talk. thank you okay thanks. Thanks very much for coming on this. Walden willie not so I probably going to do an eugene. Brahms auden talk about the first thing that comes in my head. I haven't really prepared this talk. Got a few ideas in mind him. I thought i'm gonna talk about buddhism and being nice because we put us usually very nice. And i wanted to talk about the whole idea of being nice from a couple of different perspectives. We oftentimes put a cigar name being very easy going agreeable people and tending to shy away from controversy and conflict And what a wanted to rise and talk about to not was the issue of being true to oneself and using or developing a sense of buddha's teaching of compassion in its deepest most profound. Why because when we talk about compassion in the buddhist context we always think of others and other people But of course. The buddha said that i can think of no more worthy of kindness in oneself compassion the myself but that's conveniently often forgotten and It gives why. I think a lot of the time especially in spiritual circles to the idea of being nice to others And oftentimes having seen citizen a hope and aspiration that they will be nice back to us and everyone will get along just fine and quite often. That is the situation. But i want to draw the distinction between genuine compassion which is giving with no strings attached in your noiseless to others and giving and sometimes completely implicitly giving with strings attached to others in other words we are kind to other people we to oblige other people. But somehow we can often times keep a solvent bill of particulars about what we've done for the knicks while said and then win things. Don't go the rodway oftentimes There's a sense of feeling let down and people we might bring up or remember all the times that we have assisted other people. But i have In surely. i should be able to help us now on. This is fairly common dynamic. It's it's by no means a common Isolated to spiritual traditions. It's a it's part of the human phenomenon and in psychology cola cut opinion ceo kentucky. And it's something that Oftentimes we learn in our earliest experience in live from the people around us That we give that. We will see with strings attached and i think the buddhist or the the buddhist teachings is the practice of compassion with nine strings attached giving with an open hand and i just. I think it's really possible to be generous to other people really sincerely generous to other people Until other people until we have received blessings from other people. Initially if he's not as saints of receiving blessings from other people being careful by this especially in our upbringing It's very difficult to actually feel full enough within ourselves to practice generosity and so oftentimes paper you know we will grow up in life and we will not have maybe have had experiences where we were given a. We may not have had sufficient Experiences saving from others receiving attention receiving mean a lot of the time for example at parents give us food shelter and clothing and that's fallen and oftentimes is from culture to culture. There's a sense that that's it. That's that's that's all you need to take the box good parent but it goes past that into socialization in teenage years and young adulthood in your experiences. The idea that we really need to Begin to fill. That hole will to address that if we've never experienced that sense of being given to ourselves it's very very difficult. It's very very difficult to have a sense of fullness contentment and generosity to be able to overflow and give to others and so the buddha had some wonderful practices for these some wonderful practices for this. You know most of the people he would be familiar with. Abram behar's practice of loving kindness and.

"And to keep their school open regardless of budgets and schedules and the Motions of respite sakita marveled at what her and Brendan and their entire team were able to create there's one scene where Brandon and Jarvis so Anthony for who plays his his co-star are having a heart-to-heart in in the locker room and Brandon starts to cry and I think this may have been my first time seeing him cry in a film and so I was just very proud of him. Like this is beautiful. So proud of that was I think that was one of those long And then I mean there's there's some cinematic moments and I'm like, okay, that was nice. Like there's a moment with with Numa and Brandon where he's having a a dream sequence just had and but it's just so beautifully staged and lighting is like perfect on her in addition to Numa Perrier sakita savored the long periods of directing some legendary actors on her first feature film. I never had any problem trying to like keep control of the set or anything like that because they were all such professionals. I feel like they were all she hated to me like they like Greg Daniel would say like, okay whatever you want, you know, like they were they were dedicated to doing whatever they could do to make the project a success off and like we're we still keep in touch with all of them because of that once in post-production sakita and Brendan got to work securing music licensing for the film. We had a a friend work as kind of our music supervisor and work on licensing with universal in order to get the Nina Simone song that's in there. And then we also offer license and license music for me to Fremont which was great, but we license several artists music. And so that was a process because we had to you know, of course to get contracts drawn up for Thursday at the universal process was of course the toughest one because you're dealing with a big company and you're kind of going back and forth and and and what you could do in those cases and what we did is that we negotiated a price change for the festival's with kept our costs really low and then when it came time for actually releasing it, we teared our cost based on our skills. And so that way we kept are out of the box costs really low again, and we said like hey, we make millions of dollars off this number. We don't care like we're happy to pay you whatever remember their birth. Film called doggone shame which sakita and Brendan wrote stardom shot and directed all by themselves. Well that experience came in handy for Jericho. We ended up taking like that first cut and then we re cutting it. I'm not an editor but I kind of knew how I wanted things to go. And so we had no tree cutting some of that and then give it sitting that back to our editor so that they can make it look amazing and you got all these things that that you as a director fell in love with and you know, Brandon is actor fell in love with and you know jobs being husband and wife makes it more interesting because when we disagree, you know, we we can't call the the trump card or there's no trump card of one of the directors like you're on your way deep into post-production the team discovered some sound design problems, which meant more money.

"We went up when we put all the stuff on the barge and then we came down. Yeah. Oh my God. Yeah. So there's there's an interview for me. Yeah, okay. Well, I think that is really good kind of encapsulated, you know version of what happened. There's obviously lots of other things also shares but I think at least gives a context to some of the questions wrong and you know, really the purpose today was you know, I think to the first catch up on where you've been for the last four years. Yeah, but also just to maybe Deep dive into some stuff that I don't know what answers I'm going to get and i u r b I think yesterday or the day before. Well, what are we going to talk about? It's like no not going to tell you that normally for guess I will send them, you know, like a whole outline and like is this good or you can full and and most everyone usually people are very great. Just oh, yeah, it's fine. Maybe I would change this polite to me at all. No, so I thought we're going to make sure that this is very impromptu. Okay and off I just think we should dive into it. I think so. You think you're ready deep breath. Okay, here we go. You've got water. I've got my Perrier and here we're all the questions, you know don't aren't necessarily in any particular order. Although I think the first ones tend to be about earlier parts of your life and the last ones are kind of more of a more philosophical in nature. But I think you're going to see all of that. Can I pass on any questions? Well, of course you always have the what do they call it the agency to pass on questions, but you're not going to find anything in here that super like a dart. Okay. It'll be very general. So here's the first one. Okay. What's one of your earliest memories? Earliest memory is in nineteen. Fifty-two think I was for Life..

If you're balloon, not craves Perrier can help you, so this guy who did my septic work came out, and he was the top guy, and I said how long you been in the business, super knowledgeable guy about this. So how long have you been in this business? He said I'm third generation and I said so your gear grandfather did that, and he said yeah, going way back in today my dad had a truck and he'd come out here and they load everything up on the truck, and they drive out in the field and spread it out on the field the human waste yellow lights. Yeah, that's right, and so they spread it out on the field. Tastes, a little odd sweetheart and he said you can't do that now. Yes, yes, that reminds me my grandmother's farm. They had like a trough out in the open. It would just go spitting out of a look at the garden hose into this trough, and it would just dry out in the out in the Sun I'll have to ask my dad what they did because said on the show. They didn't have indoor plumbing when he went off to college still. But anyway so, and he said you can't do that now and in my mind, I'm thinking I'll you do that? Because of the people think it's you know unsafe human waste stuff like that. No, it's because of all the soaps and detergents and stuff like that. That's why the state won't let you do that if it was just. Animal waste and humans are animal. That would still be okay. It's the it's all the stuff that were that that we use every single day. How interested in our dishwasher and washing dishes and all that sort of stuff? or on Nicole's Washer all that different kinds of stuff. That's the toxic stuff. I thought that was illuminating. What's Brown and sounds like a bell? Got A lot of growing up to I. think that. You're listening to the.

"Body name bird or decade a clamming dean. It's just little intentions constantly circling in on themselves as fucking and then he goes again and I think this song and the one before I didn't play these clips but Both of these songs last songs on the album just have points where he just devolves into going. Did it at a Dad Dad just saying died set of fucking having thoughts. Rift was like to do what to do pretty tight and do these guys are love six eight. I think like last like five songs have all been in six eight overly Ghana. Can't even I can't even Parsa time signature but It's beyond time this resolves into an extremely tedious six minute long at Altro this like two notes over and over again. With some churning noises. Yeah there's definitely gate opening and closing things. Yeah I think the toilet from these walls makes the parents. I think you're at flushing. We Love Interlude Ladder Alice. Yeah it's like all the most insufferable hearts of like tool three eleven like incubates Lincoln Park like new phones. Lori. What what what. It's awesome in the minutes. It's an unholy Shatra. Mony here like this is a very sad. Sad amalgamation of of sounds. That should've should've never been should have never happened. But what's shocking is how almost familiar. Some of it sounds. You know what I mean like. That was that was a part of it. That really surprised me was how easily it was to kind of let some of the songs fade into the background of like early two thousand. Screama music that I think prior to trapped there is already like a very solid bridge from new medal and but rock type stuff into Emo Indie rock and that was a deaf tones. White Pony Right. Yeah. This is just a much poorer execution of that idea of synthesis right of crossing over its white power white pony galloping along with a Maga- hat but I do hear a little white pony in this this last song. Maybe a little bit right. It was surprising how easy it was to kind of to now in certain parts at least for me lyrically was just it was so devoid of any sort of point or or story line. There were there weren't even lake. It wasn't even like subject. Object sentences you know what? I mean like everything was everything was a fragment everything was a a non sequitur like and as such there are no real stakes just kind of misplaced misdirected anger and you know various stages of loudness But some of the some of the you know musicianship wasn't terrible. Some of the I don't know it was certainly not good but it was surprising to me that the different ways that it was not good in in certain ways that I it was kind of passable. Where lay I. Also don't I'm now wondering and I think I'm trying to confront cold hard truth. I'm wondering if if the trapped official guy has just never been hurt and that's why there's no soul to this music. We know this guy has definitely been hurt. But it's because like you know it's because his girlfriend broke up with him and like it's because he got laid off of his fucking job that he showed up to high like you know what I mean like this guy like thanks that the world's against him because he decided to drop out of high school to pursue being entrapped so like you know like he's got a chip on his shoulder but it's not. I don't fucking feel bad for you dude like I think it should sucks to be embarrassed and I think rate the album because we fuck it made it to end and Stephan. You're a true honest loyal stopping and you know this show and how thing but we have had such a blast of you today and you as our guest you get to decide are quantifiable here. Were rating the album. And on a scale of zero to negative five of something. What's that thing going to be an read ahead with your rating So tough I give this album. Negative four point three new DHS OUT OF NEGATIVE. Five twitter feuds. That's my hitting. I like the PITCHFORK STYLE. On this move the tenth like a true music critics. Ciller just justify your your choice. You do have to say anything about it. What makes you give it a negative point? Four point three like Paul. I think like when I listen to music that this is that this this land and it's just like it's so stripped of culture and and human emotion it's like it really is like a phoned in human experience just the banality of the lyrics and how it's presented and the music is just so forgettable and it's funny because like there are moments. I agree with you guys where he like. The there is some skill like the musicians or even some the the hooks like the. It's not like completely without merit but to be able to take all of our kind of collective influences and music that we appreciate it and just like just whitewash it. Essentially I think is is truly awful. Yeah Yeah yeah very out of context. I know what you mean about how. It has no culture behind it. Hey wait people you know. Have a culture sweetie it's called it's called the fucking protests on the state capitals that have been happening over the past week. It's called the privilege of Karen's who are trying to get arrested for going to a public park. Listen they need their cheesecake factory and they need it now. They demand it and just like that tracked has opposed a recent post where. It's a picture of them with it. Just as trapped two point four million listeners headstrong eighteen year anniversary. Tour anniversary is spelled wrong. Plus special openers. I prevails ten thousand listeners and then silent planet only fifty five hundred listeners and then the tower this is where their touring at at TV. Atlanta Georgia the wrong. They don't put Georgia as E. instead of and they're playing Georgia the master race. Giorgio Masquerades Poor Ferguson. Come on this cannot be real. God sponsored by Carl's junior trump pen Marlboro pan. It's fake but I love it and I think it's I love it. It's great and then they re tweeted it and said this is actually pretty funny. We'll definitely do a self titled Twenty Eight Year Anniversary Tour where we player for album in its entirety and a couple of years. That's can't wait wouldn't experience. It's been listening to this first album all the way through. They can't really know like it has not been experienced. Such a forgettable lake boring album. Substance lists album. Now it's just it's just there's no sorta journey on this album the they're giving the same flavors on every song and the lyrics it's emotionless. I don't feel emotions listening to these songs. I'm GONNA give this album. A- negative three twitter feuds. Oh all right listen here we go even if I was going to give them any points for the music which I wouldn't really give them points for the music I would get? I would take away less points for the music because I thought it was pretty terrible but I assumed it was going to be even worse but rock he best does suck for sure and this and this shit does suck but not like to the heights that I or the depths that I wish it sucked you know what I mean. Other best but rock album had listened to during this two three nickelback albums hinder and aid. Yeah like this is the best of those. Yeah so there's that and then there's the fact that trapped is posting things like nyc has a total of fourteen thousand cases the number of fatalities NYC is one thirty one point eight percent. I can bet that there are a lot more cases. The average flu kills point one percent of people who contract in on average. There's that number again. That's this is a good point. It's not post that he did. So you're making a good point. A good counterpoint. To me saying that this nickleback ah like I'm not one for conspiracy theories but blah blah blah blah. It doesn't matter okay. The point is is that they're fucking posting fake. Ask pseudoscience twitter feed. They're launching into arguments with ICE T. Who is an actual national treasure? They're fucking shit sucks. Dude it's sucks. It's like the music sucks. There's no again there's no. There's no depth. There's no climax. There's no action whatsoever. There's no stakes to what's happening. It's just completely one note of a fucking forehead against the wall.

"All right. Nah This is week as fuck. Dude what is this boy band crazy town? Bullshit pretty bland but I will say if you spread that chorus up it would be an Atari Song. Shot these questions. Don't I love that. He has a lyric in there. That's their he says these walls and then the fourth song is also called these walls. Yeah there's there's a lot of repetition yeah two job. Lott incubus for sure for sure. This is also when you realize that. The mixing on this album sucks. There's no there's no way or power to any of the instrument cigarettes all extremely thin. Extremely one it's super attenuated. Like it's it's such a product of the loudness wars. It's unbelievable like compress to hell. Not even loud where you want it to be loud. There are moments where it's like building to something that sucks like at this point like in culture. Like mixing didn't matter as much because I remember what listening to albums was like in two thousand two and it was like dudes were just packing base in their cars and it was just I would. I would be driving with my friend. And he would be blasting trapped or something similar. All you can hear is the kick drum yet. Like ideally lasting somebody double bass so is just all. You don't even hear it us just feel like something on your back through the seats. The music back. Then yeah this song is pop punk Percocet and I think trapped is to kind of you know what I mean like. It's it's as you mentioned like if you spend some of it up like it would be just straight up pop punk song. But it's it's nice crime ear it's Greasier grimier and it's grocer and it never builds to any sort of like climax or crescendo. Just that like banality of evil in that it's like it's like like nullifies itself. By how boring generic it is. But then he's got this like musical theater ass. War believe vocal could tell that homeboy like really was like striving you know what I mean like. He's got he's got a decent voice but he says nothing. The MIX is trash. And it's and it's but rock pop punk. There's nothing to like here. It's like 'cause like that's the whole thing is like when we when we talk about like pop punk versus but rock right and like what kinds of people were like like represented by that style of music like the whole thing with like a pop punk and Emo was that it was men it was mediocre white men pretending to have emotions whereas fucking but rock was mediocre white men yelling loudly about the unfairness of ever having to have an emotion. We're getting word the term but RAW. Come from because I'm familiar with that term but it just like kind of popped in my brain I know and you guys use it a lot and so obviously it's real but like I don't know where it kind of like entered the vocabulary but like you like raucous like pornography you know it when you hear it right. I know Then isn't it really tell you about in the second? I know that I know that in the early two thousands in Boston there was a radio show on WBZ end called By these guys toucher and rich and they used to roast but rock and really I. I heard the term you know they would they. They hated like they would have to play but rock Basically because the studio the station would like give them play and stuff but they would they would have Ravi Road Cimarron and he would roast it. And that's where I learned the term. I don't know where they picked about. Interesting no thanks. Yeah that's interesting. That's that's good to know Anyway Yeah Heather you were saying. Something about fucking. I don't know if that's what I was saying. I was just saying that. It's such a weird juxtaposition of styles because and like genres like literally like never the Twain shall meet like in the early. On these were absolutely like diametrically opposed. Subcultures like pop punk was considered. I'm sure by like edgy. Fucking you know but rock teenagers to be fucking gay. You don't think jealous. I think already hit on this on the fun. Shit that people like me and you and Stephan were doing this was and that's probably what's happening with Chris Taylor Brown now today. I mean dude is literally trapped in his fucking house right now. The tour is cancelled. My Dude like game over like nobody gives a shit. The only reason people give a shit is because you're a fucking massive on the Internet and people desperately are seeking to displace their feelings of anxiety and distress onto fucking freak shows like tiger king. And you like you've you've you've become our outlet like congratulations but yeah yeah this. It's it's sucks. It's still really bad. And this should especially this song is really whack. Shall we move on the just boring? Let's go to the next one. Okay this next one. This is called hollow man. Hello this is Kevin Kevin Bacon.
