"Excitement is in the air for sure. Can you feel it. The two thousand twenty one nascar season is coming and we're now seeing drivers on their social media pages. Doing photo shoots with their cars. Their new fire suit onesies paint scheme changes and growing list of teams and drivers throwing their hat into the ring to attempt. This year's daytona five hundred austin syndrich is one such driver looking to not only make his first daytona five hundred but also his first career cup series star. Wow of course drive a team. Penske prepared ford with the number thirty three on the door. And austin said quote at doesn't really even need to be said that the daytona five hundred is the biggest crown jewel race in nascar and one of the biggest races in the world so to have a shot to be in the show while driving. Roger penske is a big opportunity gap by the way. Syndrich is the twenty twenty xfinity series champion and he scored six wins last year. Another such driver is jamie mcmurray coming out of retirement from full-time cup. Series racing back in two thousand eighteen. He'll return to drive the number. Seventy seven spire motorsports entry four. The daytona five hundred. The car will be prepared by chip ganassi racing. So he's going to be familiar with the feel of the machine as well as the setup. "That's how it sounded just a little over two years ago. That is joey logano and his championship. Run as we welcome you back to ask live. Joey came close to winning a second championship last year at phoenix but came up just a tad short. He's gearing up for another shot this year. emma. Woody cain talked with him earlier today about the twenty twenty one season. We're joined now by juliano. Who drives the number twenty two shell pennzoil ford mustang for team penske. Joey this blew me away. You're about to start your night season at team. Penske to sometimes they whereas all the time on. I starting to think that little bit makes you feel like. I've been around for a long time when i hear years of racing and how long have been at team penske. Now but yeah. It's something that i'm proud of. You know what i mean. It's something that you know to be able to drive for. Roger penske for that period of time you know be able to have a championship and a lotta race. Wins together A lot in having shell pennzoil along the way the whole time. Been a really big deal to me. Nine straight years. You've been to victory lane in the cup series third in the overall standings and twenty twenty. So tell me how the process works. after season. Everybody wants to be compressed a little bit but there's obviously some kind of review or analysis or that type of thing. How do you do it personally. And is the team thing or is it. You know i look at stats in my head and figure out what i want to work on and that type of thing how do you. How do you break down the season. I mean you have stat goals right. But but sometimes on tell the whole story So you kind of look more into the race and a lot of times. We break down the races as the season goes right. And maybe at the end of the season there's an overview in general And when i look at our season you know last year in twenty twenty Obviously very challenging from a lot of different angles as one could imagine the on the covert and But also it's a new crew chief new team for me Was something that was a maybe a little steeper mountain to climb than thought it would be going into the season without practice In really not being able to see each other in person Really kind of a senator growth a little bit But i felt like the end of the season you. We started estrella Yoga three races for the playoffs started throughout the playoffs. You know real contenders And then go to phoenix and leading laps and almost winning a championship alter last run right. And that's that's probably the most that the whole season falls down to that last run whether we won the championship or finish third in points in in In part is our season is it's how a nascar is. You have to show up when it means the most and We were there and we had one one four run in the race. You will have some opportunities for limited practice and qualifying this coming year so with what you learned a year ago and how to deal with not being able to do that. How much of a difference will that make. Even though it's not every track every weekend and how do you apply what you took out of last year. Move over this year and do it better and when you say a couple of practices but there's not many of them right and it's all new tracks where you're for one just trying to figure out where the heck you're going and then on top of the you know it's it's fifty minute practice sessions you. He don't have much time. You'd be a fifty minute practice session on a road course your two maybe three runs. You're not getting many And really many opportunities to work on your current change things so you know even though there is practice you still kinda act like there's really not much practice You know so it really makes you think more about the preparation You know and and i think that's like if you go back the last year in think about it you know first time working with all go into the racetrax at our first time. We learned everything post race so we had some struggling races and in the second half. The season was better. I it'll be something. I think that we keep can grow on Into this year because we have two races on their belts now where we can keep improving at our car in ese. Said is w some practice on a couple of qualifying sessions. But i think pretty much the year ago the same as last year where you got to really build off of what you did. Last time. you're at the restart mention nine years at team. Penske to start this thing and you become a two time. Dad and i saw the videos. Now where hudson or evil knievel. I don't know which one he is. Now is jumping ramps and writing cards and having all kinds of fun and jameson. Whoa what's going on around here. How is this whole evolution going. And what's different between the two kids. Every of our lives changes when you have kids. Life changed even more than i thought when you added a second one is when they say one is one to ten. I get an. It's a game changer. For sure but yeah it's been fun. He's he's just starting three so You know he's getting into a lot of fun. Things jameson watches them the at two completely different personalities Hudson's the outgoing Know not really scared. Something's but but for the most part if you put him on something to monica drivers power wheels irs will bike around or something he just goes in rehill run into something and then you know cry for a second and he gets back on and keeps day. And he's he's a spitting image. How many times of mom going. You guys did what we've had the conversation in that. Tell mom conversation already. Had one of those it is true it was pretty good so i think we all right and then just like. His mother is like an observant. A lot smarter than us. That's that's probably a good. He's going to be doing it. We figured he's going to be the lawyer in trying to keep heads and added jail. Somebody's got to be the common right. The voice of reason. Hey we're gonna fun stuff. I saw where you got a chance to drive the mock e fourteen hundred recently and that's an electric car and everybody i've seen talk about. It is just blown away. Tell me about this deal on getting junior In his rt our group built this fourteen hundred dollars. Power electric car electric mustang and You know i was skeptical. Disliked probably any. You know car guy when you hear electric car. It's kinda like me. I wanna you know what. I mean like the fumes. I want all that you know. We'll see you know. It sounds like a golf cart right golfer when i got in at and hit the gas. It's instant power. It's unbelievable Surgery back in the seat And it's it's funny because you hear tires squealing. You hear a lot of things that you don't typically hear so completely different driving experience but you'll typically with the internal combustion engine. You know you have some lag time. You have your power bands deal with and that's why shift gears do all this stuff. You know the electric it was just instant power all the time so Different feeling different Know technology different lingo. I had no idea what the heck they're talking about and they're talking gas is already now but you drive a different as well. You know what the region.

Xfinity Series Champion Austin Cindric

"On the final with us. Today is austin syndrich. Welcome back to the program of great. Thanks for having me all right. So twenty twenty. Xfinity series champion That's got a nice ring to it right. Yeah without a doubt. I mean you work in an entire year. Obviously this year's been been crazy and trustful for a lot of people and a lot of different ways and Obviously rise to the occasion on on on the right weekend is is is ideal but The the work put in all season. It definitely makes you gratifying. So i take us through this closing laps. What was going through your head. Obviously we had. We pulled away in the lead with older tires there and I thought that was the hard part and turned out You know caution with three to go Having to come in and put on tires and that we are at a pretty big deficit I think that was the right call to make but putting yourself by maple on on on the offense and Having having to make two laps and make it happen when a championship in the with with with our competition definitely wasn't gonna be easy and putting a three wide off at turn four to win the championship Was was pretty cool. I thought i thought we all wreck for for a moment there and Definitely definitely dramatic finish and Glad glad we had to earn it but Definitely go out. It will all work out. What What did you do to celebrate. So yeah i've been trying to do the maximum obviously The different year As far as getting people together and enjoying things with that'd be with my guys do people shop or or or just my friends and family so That that part's obviously been a bit more of a challenge but Saturday night after the race. I can promise you. The the twenty two team had a great time and Major everybody got back to their rooms. Nice and safe but Otherwise it was it was. It was a fun night. looking forward to To enjoy during the season and coming back even harder and twenty twenty one. What are some of the things. That are a champion has to do during the week. Afterwards is it. Is it more than you expected. i think it's a lot of things that i wanna do myself It's it's. It's not things that that other people will put me up to as far as Like i said. I've had to be very creative in the last couple of days. Far as trying to figure out. Like i said what the maximum is that i can do to to to enjoy championship with with my team But also making sure i don't even turn you don't wanna championship every day and It's really difficult to do this in. Obviously we had the opportunity. Try new again next year but Trying to make sure that that. I don't miss anything almost anyone and I enjoy the moment obviously You're going to be kind of like the the face of the sport or the the face of the xfinity series for next year. What does it mean to be a champion and carry that flag. I think anyone who's watch watch series for the last couple of years. Watch me grow develop at the driver. Obviously i have my one one season in the truck series beforehand but that was it and As far as my career. So i've come a long way in a short amount of time and and i think Anyone who's watched those races that seeing that Has it's hopefully been able to create that. And as as seen this team really rally around me and in my development and obviously it's been a lot of fun to be able to do that and go on win races. And and then put ourselves in contention all year so it obviously Gives us more to look forward to. Obviously there's going to be great competition next year. I excited excited to see the full line. Up of drivers that We get to compete against and Looking forward to doing doing the most. We can't to make it back to phoenix and try and contempt for another championship now. Obviously every year. There's a big awards banquet at the end of the year this year. It's going to be a little different than can be more of a an awards show. I'm sure you're still looking forward to it because you're going to be honored. Their yeah i just want to get back all hours. Upset at other people's banquets watching other people talk. I want to do the talk. Our team to get the talking but It's it's obviously a challenge but No it's hopefully. Everyone can tune into that. I i got got wrapped up with with my obligations for that Just just yesterday actually so Looking forward to seeing that. It's also fun to to to to share that with with the other. Competitors are in shown creative while we were in nascar Production dairy and talk and talk to him about his race and and obviously Obviously chase elliott pretty pretty cool for the sport there and Obviously very well deserved for him and his family's well. We're on with xfinity series champion for twenty twenty austin syndrich and every year penske. Does this big olympic style kind of stuff with all their drivers and and and and crew members and stuff like that. This year was dodgeball How'd you do was it fun. It looked awesome while. I'm gonna brag on myself here for a minute because In p when. I was in middle. School and high school dodgeball was my thing. Okay i i don't know why i i obviously love it but For whatever reason. I just have a knack for it so When when they decided they were going to dodge ball with all the penske drivers i was. I was pretty keen so the game. They go to penske social channels. They haven't shared up on there. But i was the last man standing for a very long time Got a lot of people. I got blaney out by far the most athletic driver on our team pretty. I got him out early in the game But yeah it's great fun it. It's it's so cool. Because we're such a diverse group of drivers. As far as the different race series and and you know different nationalities and obviously we really different personalities. So that's always a really fun amick and I hope everyone enjoys that kind of stuff. I'm sure it's a big A team bonding kind of thing as well. Hey later today you've got a alive. Qna online. Are you are you nervous with some of the fans might ask you know. I don't think so Obviously we've got like said the life you and eight six six thirty on penske social channels on facebook and Looking forward to seeing the turnout we get for that. Because it'll be my crew chief. Brian wilson talking about Pretty much our season that race. Everything that's come down to it. Obviously brian i ever really greatly relationship and Look look forward to take jabs. Adam if i can't tonight what are some of the things are gonna be doing in the off season Both to relax and maybe even stay sharp for next year. Yeah i'm i'm still working on that. But i made a long list on the flight home from phoenix as far as things don't want to do and i i started to realize i'm probably not going to get everything done. I'd say top of that list is continue to work on my project car. I've got an eighteen ninety three volvo station wagon that i've been doing a Coyote swap was basically putting the the drive train. The the motor from a ford mustang. So go to five hundred horsepower. Engine in a in a ninety station wagon is has been no small feat. I've been working on this thing for for two years. Now doing all the work on myself so it's been really fun to to learn that Learn that side of things i. I think it's made me a better driver. And the obviously it's a it's a great pastime. Okay that's one of the most unique rebuilds. I think i've ever heard what's the goal for that. Car the goal is to be stupid or noxious. It's gonna race track. It's just it's just supposed to be loud stupid and fast. The car actually ways Significantly less than most most rijkaard's. It's actually smaller than you think being a station wagon. It's only twenty pounds. So a couple of hundred pounds lighter than most modern cars so nothing's gonna rip so Hopefully i get tight and have some fun with it so looking looking to make a pretty big debt absolutely now over the next year and a half or so. You've got a lot of things plan. Obviously going xfinity series racing next year. Defending that The championship and you're also going to have some cup series races Have they decided that your schedule yet. No it's definitely ongoing. Obviously gotta make sure things work logistically and and try and figure out the the right thing whether it be my development or having partners on the car but I'm excited for for that opportunity to to learn at the high level But i'd say if there is a race that i wanna do They're they're going cup racing at road. America on july fourth weekend is going to be amazing so I'm hoping that i can get to do that. One that one's definitely at the top of my list but Overall just just happy to happy to have that kind of an opportunity happy have the groundwork laid out for for for for my development over the next couple of years that's very challenging thing to to navigate in the sport especially the drivers so Looking forward to taking advantage of that opportunity and make the most of your drivers don't have the opportunity of knowing. Hey after next year. I'm going cup racing. They don't usually know that You still got to keep the eye on the ball for the community series. But i'm sure you're still excited about twenty twenty two. Yeah without a doubt to have that opportunity. Go race for the wood brothers in in in twenty twenty two. Obviously that's a that's a family. That has a huge legacy in the sport and The opportunity to to build on that legacy is something i definitely. Don't take lightly. I i love the history of the sport but also the the wood brothers eddie. Len modern john. Those guys who have been big supporters of mine Since since i've really come into nascar so excited to get to work with them here in the next couple the next couple of months after after twenty twenty one and Really really start the next chapter of my career with those guys so Very grateful for that as an opportunity. But i really really focused on defending title. It'd be be great taylor to walk out the as two time champions but a lot of work that needs to be done in a lot of hard competition to the face before then all right for sure last question any plans for the rolex twenty four working on that man that's that's always grind. I mean that is that is a given so Definitely definitely doesn't hurt to in the off season In style like this but Yeah i i wanna i wanna do the rolex again This past year was actually the first year in in three years that i hadn't done it so actually spotted the race for one of the penske cars which being outside in the middle of the night for twenty four hours is enough motivation for for trying to find drive the next year. I don't know what is so I'm i'm excited to try and try and navigate that I want to win that race. Really bad that's that's that's where i've been really passionate about for a long time a lot of miles in a lot of hours in so Still still on the lookout for for the right combination and Hopefully hopefully things down before the holidays. All right. he is the twenty twenty extended series champion. Austin syndrich thanks as always for being on the final

It's Pumpkin Spice Season!

It's Pumpkin Spice Season!

"Let's. Let's talk a little bit about spices both the spices that go in the pumpkin spice mix and some forged by society. Right we should. We should also mention and I guess the one that I would like to start out with cinnamon, which comes from the inner bark of plants in the genus cinema them. and it is an evergreen tree in the Laurel family and there are several species in growing in various areas and. People might want to if they're into spices, they might want to get you know the Vietnamese version and the Indonesian version or the version you know the from Malabar cinnamon and and just taste them and see it's a spice that has long long been used to not only ceremonially but and in culinary But also, for fragrance and all kinds of symbolic applications as well. I don't think everybody realizes that there are so many different kinds of cinnamon and that they come from different trees and that the flavors are very different. The strengthened the spiciness, the natural sweetness, all of these vary from cinnamon to cinnamon. And I'm very fortunate in Santa Fe. We have a wonderful store called the savory spice shop I took a class there and learned a lot about the different kinds of sentiments. So I actually have a couple of different kinds at home i. think my favorite is the Ceylon Cinnamon. That's the one that I really liked the best although it is much more brittle. So if you're making something with the whole sticks, you have to be a little careful that the pieces don't all break apart but but I love the flavor of that one. Do you have a favorite cinnamon I don't? I tend to. In, cooking I tend to use whichever when I grabbed I. I'm. I will admit but I have ordered several varieties from penske spices which company create. Yeah. Company that I like and So it's fun fun to compare them and to just think about them you know both at their place in history their place in the history of the expiration of the world because you know a good deal of. World, exploration was driven by the desire to bring spices you know back to. Europe? And don't forget. Cinnamon is the inner bark of a tree. That is pretty darn cool. If you ask me who was the first person yeah? Thinking that out it's not the outer bark. So it's not that they just took a piece of the outer bark and chewed on it and thought this is delicious. It's the inner bark and who'd who did that? If I had to guess I would say somebody cut down the tree and smell the smell and. What is that and started sniffing around the tree and figured out where that came from but that's that's you know that's a guess. Well, it sounds like a good guest to me. So we talked a little bit about all spice in our true or false section and I want to. Continue that theme and talk about a spice that I forage for that sometimes called Appalachian. All spice that is the dried fruit of the spice Bush Plant Linda Benzoate, and I've mentioned that. Plant on this. podcast before it is literally one of my favorite forage spices and when I don't have it in my pantry and makes me very nervous because I like to use it in suite applications in savory applications it's absolutely delicious with some natural. Sweetness. It's got the warmth of all those you know Pumpkin pie spices, and honestly it's my go-to spice I rarely use nutmeg all spice and cinnamon anymore because to me the spice. Bush. Kerry. Has It all and it's a wonderful flavor and a very, pretty ornamental plant for yard as well. Well, that's what I was just going to ask you this is not you? Know as as many of these spices from the tropics This is not a tropical plant. This is something that people could plant in their own yard. Yes it's a it's hardy believed to zone four. So that's a pretty tough plant. It's native to the United. States east of the Mississippi everywhere from New Hampshire to Florida there are some isolated populations of it in Texas. But in general, it prefers it's not as happy an alkaline clay soils and that's what we tend to have out here in the West but it's a diocese plan which means separate male and female plants. So if you want to be able to harvest the fruit, you need at least one of each, you can also use the stems and leaves to make a t and they have a slightly different flavor. But for my money, it's the fruit that really is where the love is. Do you picked this fruit when Ans-? Ripe. But not dried and then dry it out. Yeah or is it the seed? Is it the seed or the fruit I'm glad you asked that C. L. because it's both the fruit is is small and read about the size of barbary fruit and I pick it when it's red although if it started to dry on the shrub that's okay and now is the perfect time to go looking for it depending on where you are. But if you're in the northeast the mid Atlantic states now when you should go out and look You can use them fresh and they're they're soft I usually dry them, and then keep them hole in the freezer and grind them as needed. But if you take a fresh fruit and cut it in half, you will see that the orange pulp, the redskin surrounds a soft blackish grey seed. Now, some people say that the seed tastes like pepper and the black pepper and the fruit tastes like all spice and they separate them I kind of think they just do that because. The seed is black and peppers black I don't use it all together and really it. So you're eating both the fruit and the seeds you don't separate the nudist dry and grind it. Very cool. Very cool. Well, you know I don't have any growing in my yard right now but you've you've made me want some. So I'm going to have to check that out for planting next spring.

'The Greatest Spectacle In Racing': Indy 500 To Run Without Spectators

"33 teams 500 miles and a century's worth of history. It's the Indianapolis 500. But this year there won't be any fans in the stands to see what's been called the greatest spectacle in racing, Samantha Horton from Indiana, Public broadcasting reports. This is what the 500 sounds like on a normal race day war of hundreds of thousands of fans overtaking sounds of the core engines in the final few laps, But this year's race will sound a little more like this along to 2.5 mile track. The race has always taken place in May, but pandemic response upon two back to August 23rd. Roger Penske, who bought the track earlier this year, was still hoping to have tens of thousands of race fans in attendance. But that hope faded in June, when race officials announced half attendance then 25% and then no. One. It was a decision. Race officials tried to prevent Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Bowles says a comprehensive health plan was even developed to try to have fans attend the race. So really, from the moment in March, we knew that we needed to start thinking about what could the Indianapolis 500 look like with a bunch of restrictions and in order to make sure that we took care of everyone's health and safety, But even with these precautions, Spectators were ruled out.

"penske" Discussed on KTAR 92.3FM

"Penske from Arizona sports ninety eight seven events popped in again and so before we get to the actual player okay because it's a pretty good player it is do you agree with Kliff Kingsbury will not wearing socks and sitting at his five million dollar house just looking awesome well the drafters going on while everybody else looked like they were hunkered in a basement back east and it looked like they were at like a motel six that's kind of his five isn't it I'm just trying to chill in Scottsdale making picks in and designing place with our like he looks like if he wasn't a football coach you like a mortgage brokers right on the site we don't know he's that guy by the way the real winner last night yeah B. C. did you see the numbers no biggest draft what viewing in history doubled the seconds close the show to them and they peeked out last night with about nineteen million viewers in the in the final hour but overall fifteen point six million viewers how easily that a bunch of the week we are dying for Donnelly sports but for something that is new new yeah yeah we've watched so many replays over the last five or six weeks that I mean how many replace can you really watch is not that many great sports moments in history to what I know because all the old old ball games are on whether it's football or my wife walked in the other day and I'm I'm watching like the Packers from like nineteen eighty seven take on those three dogs and she's like who are the what are you doing I'm like I got nothing else they were replaying the nineteen eighty nine and F. L. draft the other day and like five minutes and I was like what what is going on why am I watching this other than just to see everybody's hair in nineteen eighty the numbers were so big they were up almost forty percent over last year while evil maybe they should hold it inside of next year who knows we'll do it from the Penske is joining us so we think it is traffic cardinals when it eight everybody says they got a start they got well what do they call him a unicorn that sounds that sounds good to me yeah who is he Isaiah Simmons that would Steve Kime called in this morning the eraser so move maybe we'll see if that nicknames sticks because they're gonna ask him to do so many different things and if you look at the cardinals last year they were competitive they only won five games if they were competitive in price I don't know five or six others yeah yeah in their issue was defense specifically stopping the tight end Isaiah Simmons is built to stop the tight end and he should impact the defense on a few different levels so they were in that weird spot and it's very enviable spot we can take the best available player and he's the guy that you need to that doesn't always how rarely does that happen especially at the first or second pick everybody's always looking if you don't and we got the quarterback last year that's the other thing that helps because if you didn't have a quarterback well why not build around him with an offense of linemen to make sure that he doesn't get creamed that's not as fun it's not it isn't now I think they will go in the third round can you get a good offense of line in the third round that could see a starter probably not so I don't know the cardinals have been able to do that let us and that's probably if you look at football you you build it's you the skill players you can go out and get but offense of line that is and get into the pass rusher those two things are usually draft every once in awhile you get a you know a gem but the reality is is usually those first few that are in that first round that's what you're looking for it's tough to get those guys through trades or free agency except Chandler Jones they traded a failed offense of linemen essentially to get him from New England so it's a great deal yeah yeah Hey it's so is Steve Kahn the GMC safe now because he was seriously looking at getting fired and obviously last year with the number one pick this year a terrific pick out of eight also he got to deandre Hopkins is going to be unbelievable yeah as a wide receiver here and he got rid of that awful contract for David Johnson who quit on the team that's the trade I think that saved his job because even at the end of last season most cardinals fans wanted him gone and then all of a sudden Houston comes along in their like here we'll take that contract for guy you're about to cut it will give you our best player the worst we've got six guys just like him you know we need seven another guy we're probably not gonna be able to use past this year so that alone just by simply saying yes to the strange team in the NFL probably it's save this job for at least another year A. B. C. D. or after the cardinals yesterday I mean with just that pic I think you have to go as much as any of us know these guys have played actual games I would say that's what I wanted all right with the Penske Arizona sports ninety seven FM thanks manager double L. with us X. Hey would you like to be a Guinea pig for the greater good of all mankind would you actually take a corona this virus nightmare vaccine that has not what being vetted tested out on your is a person that's getting tested we're gonna talk about that next we've always been Arizona's news station and now thanks to you for the valley's appreciation station my name is Steve and I wanted to thank my friend's name Kimberly Stevenson my wife with the need of spring water she is currently on a homeopathic treatment for cancer and so Kimberly had a couple of pieces that she gave to us but then she took it a step further as she posted an app called next door within one week we had two hundred bottles of water and eighteen gallons of spring water delivered to our house correct kindness actually resulted in us having water now.

"penske" Discussed on Pit Lane Parley

"And welcome to another episode of Pit Lane Parlay. My name is host Mike Joke just and Net are joining me as we have plenty to discuss from the last week and a half or so this week again brought to you by grip Matt Dot Com. The world's first flexible non slip tool met that makes for a great gift for the person who loves working on their car. Use Promo Code. E LP TV for ten percent of your order on a somber note before we get going here. Just want to wish. Ryan Newman quick and speedy recovery from his Daytona five hundred injuries as of recording on Tuesday. Evening he was awake and talking to doctors in his family. So that's amazing to see but Young I hope. Hope he recovers quick. He's seems like a standout guy in any driver who supports any sort of animal. Charities is is up on on my list of drivers to support so opie recovered from from whatever the injuries are it was definitely scared to see. Yeah and having watched racing for a long time that was one of the worst crashes I've ever seen Alive I think given the impact the wall and then sliding on his roof and then getting hit again is pretty much kind of worst case scenario in the NASCAR world so the fact that he was you know awake and talking family has stay Tuesday. I think was phenomenal news. Not Think I echo everybody's sentiments that. We were all really relieved when we got the news last night. Monday night that he was in serious but stable condition. Because you know we all Sumer so just wishing Ryan the best in a quick recovery. Yeah I mean obviously after seeing that and seeing the difficulty they had getting him out of the car and everything else it. It was extremely Good news to get that he basically in the long run. It's probably GONNA be mostly okay. Obviously we don't know injuries at this point in time but I mean it's it's kind of a miracle that he was able to be extracted from that car in one piece so definitely wishing him well and hopefully he recovers quickly and and hopefully he can rise again someday says so with that we will move on starting with B. Circle of the Americas open tests from last week. Just a quick recap of the top. Five would be willpower. Alex Rossi Scott McLaughlin Joseph New Garden and Colton Herta's so guys any surprises disappointments. I Dunno where you want to start with that but I will turn it over to you yet. Mclaughlin noon as well as hated was. I don't know if it's necessarily surprising but it was. It was really good to see I the I guess the only disappointment I have honestly is in the weather so they didn't get more time because that would win would have been nice to see But Yeah I'm academy just made me that much more. Prompt for this season for me and my big surprise was Alex Paolo P. Nine with you know what I've been predicting decimated coin team. That's really impressive. I mean he's been in the car two or three times in to go out there and it the ninth best lap in a a really stacked field. I think that's a really good reflection on him so far and he's been saying the right things. You did the test Texas Awhile and was very psyched about that. So so far. He's he's passing the face value tests on the other side in black and white world. I know we're talking about testing but third ask Connor Daily I. I wonder if they were trying some setups or do something outside the box. I hope that's the case because not the greatest start from from him but you know obviously again just to test not panic. Button territory by any means but I'm curious to sue his paces like going forward so just on my surprise so I had to quit can scramble and find another answer here. I'm GonNa go with McLaren Oliver. S Q you. Seven Outta award tens you know not just a rookie was seven but or guys in the top ten and I think at some point in testing there were even higher than that for a while. My disappointment is definitely the weather. I missed all of Media Day on Monday and Tuesday. There was no track running and then I had to run back to the airport Tuesday night so I didn't really get to see anything in person when I was down there. So that was definitely my biggest disappointment of the open test though we will keep going down the list here your favorite current favourite livery that you saw the test. I don't know if I should go first since I wrote an article on our website. Check it out. Shameless plug read that but Mayan if you didn't read it was Felix Rosenquist. I think that car that's absolutely stunning Slash medicine slash beautiful slash terrifying slash elegant. I think it Kinda Caps everything I would want delivery and I love the black think. It's a home run and getting away with Alex Hailu because that pink is fire to me. I just love it very much matches my jacket that I'm wearing right now that you guys can't see but I mean it just it just really stands out especially in the afternoon sunshine. I'M GONNA go with Alex Ross's alternation scheme that we will see at a races. Ashir and NAPA has the other night I forget what what which which is which the pink and Grey Combo looked really really slick. I know some people said it looked similar to hello or Lou however you say his name. I know we've probably all gotten a wrong at some point this off season. But yeah that's that's definitely my pick for their so lastly We will recap who we predicted which struggle and who would do well Matt had arenas vk doing well and Ren- ass- is a team so not so good there and Matt said Arrow would struggle definitely. Matt dropped the ball big time on this prediction. Let's see here. I had Zach each doing well seventeenth now sued had Sato struggling and Tacoma was twenty. Second KINDA got outright. And lastly just had had oh doing well so I think just automatically wins because otherwise none of our pigs are really good in this one. She had ed carpenter struggling so far off. There I adjust winced just Bar Wins this round. Who's just detest Doesn't matter I still want Esquerre to test for us to. Hopefully you're testing your Luck this year because if you're going to bring rain to every race or flight delay or I mean I should probably cancel my flight now. It just please don't please don't because I'm traveling to all them with him. So just please please. Please don't bring flights. May Mike Sorry Jinx that than I might as well. Just cancel my plans. I'm nervous now. All right so we will move in to our next topic. We're GonNa talk just a little bit about team penske so. Tk and Paul. Tracy were discussing during the broadcast. Who IS SCOTT MCLAUGHLIN? Gunnery place if they bring him on full time next year. Tk Tang said it's GONNA be no. He thinks it's going to be power. What you guys saying. I think that if Roger PENSKE REPLACES WILLPOWER. Something's not right. I think it would have to be because he had a disastrous twenty twenty. Which I just don't see happening again. I've Sung praises for power a lot of times on the show specifically. He's probably the most well rounded drivers in the field when it comes to always an road courses and he's done a lot for team penske since he joined the twenty nine so yeah. I think it'd be foolish to replace our obviously new gardens kind of the face of that team. And he's what twenty seven twenty eight so he's still got a decade if he wants it As long as he continues to produce which defending champion so it has to be by default then Simon Patch now and. I don't think it's anything wrong. I just think he's not producing the results consistently as power and new garden. Obviously want any last year. But you know. I think we'll see what he does this year. I guess I feel like this. One is incredibly tough to predict because year after winning the indy. Five hundred or year and a half. After Juan Montoya was out of a ride. Castro Neves was out of the ride after a solid lasts season full-time season ending indycar and passionate on the five hundred last year. So it's almost like no matter what you pick you feel wrong picking it but I I do agree with Matt. I think it's going to be passionate. Oh I think willpower has just been so consistent especially the last six seven years in Term Engineering Division in the championship of all. I don't know how you can replace. Power is only thirty five thirty six or seven somewhere around there. I think he's got a lot of life. Left in in him in a lot of consistency left him. I'M NOT GONNA play by my own rules on this question. I'M GONNA say they're gonNA just add another car. I don't in Las Hachinohe has a very bad year this year if he has a very bad year. Okay I see him being the I. Guess the link there but I think that if he does well and has a good year than Then I'M GONNA say.

the whole the <Speech_Music_Male> whole months <hes> <hes> <Speech_Music_Male> you know <Speech_Music_Male> a <Speech_Music_Male> lot of war got a lot <Speech_Music_Male> of time <Speech_Music_Male> on a lotta <Speech_Music_Male> your little bit of <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> stress into <Speech_Telephony_Male> these also but <Speech_Telephony_Male> <hes> you know ooh <Speech_Telephony_Male> i'm happy <Speech_Telephony_Male> that i'm i'm finding <Speech_Telephony_Male> that here i feel <Speech_Music_Male> like in <Speech_Telephony_Male> the next week or so <Speech_Telephony_Male> being able to <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Male> a little bit more <Speech_Telephony_Male> than <Speech_Telephony_Male> two weeks or so so <Speech_Telephony_Male> i've been able to finally <Speech_Music_Male> sleep <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> but <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> not <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> raise united <Speech_Telephony_Male> as you well <Speech_Music_Male> know that kapoor view <Speech_Telephony_Male> they've been a little bit <Speech_Telephony_Male> difficult for myself <Speech_Telephony_Male> personally <hes> <Speech_Telephony_Male> from our team <Speech_Male> that we just can't <Speech_Telephony_Male> control <Speech_Music_Male> i wish that we can <Speech_Telephony_Male> all those things but sometimes <Speech_Telephony_Male> we just can't <Speech_Music_Male> and <hes> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> <hes> i two <Speech_Telephony_Male> things happen <Speech_Telephony_Male> to people so i'm <Speech_Telephony_Male> sure that <hes> there's <Speech_Telephony_Male> a lot of good people around <Speech_Male> me <Speech_Telephony_Male> wearing these <Speech_Music_Male> right now and <Speech_Music_Male> we're gonna gonna <Speech_Music_Male> we're <Speech_Telephony_Male> gonna we're <Speech_Telephony_Male> getting better <Speech_Telephony_Male> feeling we're gonna <Speech_Music_Male> heading <SpeakerChange> to <Speech_Music_Male> actually give <Speech_Male> daniels juarez <Speech_Male> with <SpeakerChange> more <Speech_Music_Male> thoughts <Speech_Telephony_Male> i <Speech_Telephony_Male> i'm on many <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> <hes> really <Speech_Music_Male> you know <Speech_Music_Male> it's <hes> it's <Speech_Telephony_Male> hard not to <Speech_Music_Male> to to <Speech_Telephony_Male> down <Speech_Telephony_Male> there what happened <Speech_Male> two years in a row because <Speech_Telephony_Male> that's easy <Speech_Telephony_Male> to <Speech_Telephony_Male> guess but <Speech_Telephony_Male> you know <Speech_Telephony_Male> they say that <Speech_Telephony_Male> nothing could you just make <Speech_Telephony_Male> you stronger right so <Speech_Telephony_Male> so here we <Speech_Telephony_Male> are <hes> <Speech_Music_Male> on <hes> i NFL <Speech_Telephony_Male> that <hes> <Speech_Telephony_Male> that <hes> <Speech_Music_Male> been <Speech_Telephony_Male> a lot going <Speech_Telephony_Male> on they live chat <Speech_Telephony_Male> we're we're now <Speech_Telephony_Male> in a position <Speech_Telephony_Male> <hes> 'cause they <Speech_Telephony_Male> have <Speech_Telephony_Male> the <Speech_Telephony_Male> greatest <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> scope <Speech_Music_Male> go down <Speech_Telephony_Male> and many <Speech_Telephony_Male> others out there that <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> you know we're <Speech_Telephony_Male> working on <Speech_Music_Male> on <hes> <hes> <Speech_Telephony_Male> hopefully we can we're <Speech_Telephony_Male> gonna do great things <Speech_Music_Male> here we've <Speech_Telephony_Male> got we've <Speech_Music_Male> got to you <Speech_Telephony_Male> know we'd rather stay with our <Speech_Telephony_Male> expectations but <Speech_Music_Male> they know that they <Speech_Music_Male> we know <Speech_Music_Male> that if five <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> winning projects <Speech_Telephony_Male> in the in the lock <Speech_Male> in long-term <Speech_Music_Male> i wouldn't be <Speech_Telephony_Male> here right now so <Speech_Telephony_Male> <hes> culturally <Speech_Telephony_Male> enough things <Speech_Telephony_Male> better <Speech_Telephony_Male> much better <Speech_Telephony_Male> than the way <Speech_Telephony_Male> they play <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> yeah so <Speech_Male> mr murphy i'm i'm <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> afraid <Silence> <Advertisement> you've got gaunt <Silence> <Advertisement> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> you've got the gaunt want <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> man we're going to have to cut <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> it off got the <Speech_Music_Male> gaunt <Silence> so so <Speech_Male> do you wanna <Speech_Male> keep it ajar when we <Speech_Male> get done cutting it off <Speech_Male> or <Speech_Male> well yeah <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> we offer that service service <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> all right <Speech_Music_Male> gone <Speech_Music_Male> jar that hangs <Speech_Male> from your keychain <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> that's a new alternative <Speech_Music_Male> about about <Speech_Music_Male> two weeks <hes> <Speech_Music_Male> but they've <Speech_Music_Male> had a lot <Speech_Male> of catching up to <Speech_Male> do to get ready <Speech_Male> for the season so they've been slammed <Speech_Male> over there <Speech_Male> finally got things <Speech_Male> announced that they were doing <Speech_Music_Male> all the media "Keri k. what you get you get a guy union there's another one what was going on and on about about everything well yeah that's what he does he took over the segment that's over sorry joey all right well here's joey lugano no no and he likes cars i do not as cool as the lincoln but it's my wife and i was getaway car at our wedding fifty fifty nine cadillac in speaking of the auto fair and things like that that's that to me such a huge passion for cars i love cars i love the environment i love going to car shows that my dad has a kid and you walk the oldies music playing you get the ice cream you look at cool cars and like that was something that so memorable to me or just taking taking your old car to church or whatever it was on the weekends i have a lot of memories of that and i can't wait to make those same memories with a son hudson and we we already have taken some rights and some don't tell my wife because the seat belts are up to code is to say to me those those memories just last a lifetime and can't wait to take him out here at least the day that we're home i think during the auto fair a lot of times it back up to a race weekend that was somewhere else but most i'm able to forget who are here for day for that and that's special you know i just think this school to see people walking around that family environment whether it's about antique cars or or or just nascar racing and being here with your family i think this is an environment that brings us all together whether it's your friends your family and you're able to talk about something you have something in common uh-huh and the culture that's a fun thing to to be and join gano talks about what goes on at penske team meetings after a race weekend he probably shouldn't let us know this i i think he's asking about our team meetings on monday okay you know a lot of it just depends on how you run right a lot of times sometimes unfortunately you have those-those learning days as i like to call instead of failure days i think there's just as that you learn more than others and you need to talk about it you need to learn from your mistakes so that's the most important thing i think having the opportunity to make the mistake is some of the one of the best opportunity you have to learn you just got to build learn from it and make sure you don't do it again and that's what the meetings are all about how do we learn from the mistakes that we made what did we do good what did we do bad as a team as team penske in general and then we'll break it in more detail to our individual teams but china learn from that and then look into future they're racist coming up water things we're gonna need where what do we have to to ultimately make sure one of our cars in in victory lane at every single race that's the goal i just like the fact that joey likes cars yes good thing it is i mean i would think that'd be very terrible career if you don't that would be funny i i race cars for a living but yeah dan bars i don't really like him as a skateboard that he commutes with yes or sadly kind of like tom cruise and days of thunder doesn't know a thing about cars right now that's true it all comes back to days of thunder always does shelvin into fourth gear finally at the five hundred mile cokes hundred car has no logos that you can discern earn whatsoever just black up and down the sides totally man that car has been through a beating that's right cars these days they're like pristine yeah they get to the engineering wow did they even race barely even have bugs on the front part of that is that the tires is so hard now that they don't shave any of the crazy tire rubber i mean they shaved some but not near like back in the day there used to be huge marbles all over the track we don't see that anymore so a lot of the tire stuff that would cake to the front of the cars has has been reduced in recent years all right well that's our look at penske racing hand their crew along with wood brothers racing de guy and i'm next we've got more fun i think we're going to news of the week coming up next on t. f. l. w. is.

"I guess i mean that's that's the main goal but like you said there's already been a lot of changes i mean it was that was a big changes we've made you know two three weeks ago at the policy group but swapping a bunch of teams around and they thought that this was a good way to improve all our whole organization and getting to work with todd gordon has been pretty fun even though i haven't been at a race weekend with it's been nice to get to know everybody takes a long time to get acclimated with everybody alex kinda the shortest working with jerry jones microchip but we all worked with the same guy for a long time you know oh and it's nice to mix things up every now and then but yeah you just try to keep improving every year you know we're getting into your four or five for me full time and just you know time restart learn a little bit quicker and when more than one race a year you don't really wanna be that guy and try to try to make sure that doesn't happen try to win win in a lot more and be in contention so how about this brad keselowski v off season that was pretty busy in a lot of family stuff and he's gonna continue talking here for a while so nope just carry grab a chair it's going to be a little bit yeah it was good you know i added a daughter to my family sonoma a family of three and you know you know i was listening to talk talk about his mrs crying i have a wife and two daughters in any given time all three of them are crying and i'm still got why so hawking help with that really tips with that in mind hopefully there will be less crying and they'll have a nice place enjoy i keep hearing you gotta win the coq six when i started i asked us to do to get in that motorhome and it was where you got to win a race so then i wanna race is going to win championships so i wanna championship and then it turned me while you have to win the coq six hundred so i'm afraid when i win the coq six hundred one day that somebody's going to say well you have to lead all laps and so i was telling that story to my wife and then she said well wait a minute isn't the junior and there he didn't win the coq six hundred i said well well we don't have that last name so hopefully we'll get in there but we're all having a little bit of fun with that we've we've had some good it runs here and we had a great shot in the six hundred this past past year i think we wanted to to three two or three of the four state i can't remember was and had a loose wheel there at the end and and kind of got derailed but you know last year was a good year for us and wasn't great you know pence he's made a number of changes to all the teams because a good isn't good enough i think i heard my boss say but you know we want to win the championship didn't have a car in the final four and that's unacceptable to us our goal is to win a lot of racism and win championships so we're push really hard for that i believe that we we have the lineup to get team penske and other championship across the entire platform on i'm super super proud to be a part of that and you know good things to come i think it's great to see the turn out here today says really phenomenal we're so glad to have you guys you know a lot of changes in the motor sports landscape more to come of course as you guys probably know better than i do but you know with that in mind it's great to see that this has not changed turn turn out in the support of the speedway and of this sport itself i'm markus your commitment is certainly excellent coke six hundred to me i drink a coke because i can't have millerton get home but you know what they've done here to this event to make it the marquee event is is really something and start following this page on instagram called loss tracks tracks that have kind one out of business and now they're kind of the walmart parking lot and you know it gives you thump throwing there's hundreds of them you just can't believe how many race tracks have been built over last ask you know fifty to one hundred years that didn't make it and so the investment that the smith family made here and to see a be successful for sixty seven years that's really remarkable that's that's not the commonplace i think sometimes we might take that for granted that all racetracks are successful no exception rather than the ultimate but reality for everyone so it's great to see this event continue to grow i loved video that you showed earlier i can tell you having the name of the families of the fallen on the car every year is really an honor we get to to meet them i think if you members in media have come to some of my events that we have with those families and it's incredibly touching ching just one of the many events here at the speedway that that we're proud to be a part of so i could ramble on forever i'll let joey have his turn.

"At this is the final last week my name is gary murphy his name is toby christie and call us entire program the final lap weekly and we're we're starting to get teams showing up the race shops and we're getting to hear from them getting ready for the twenty twenty nascar racing season this week we're gonna feature penske racing and their crew of drivers drivers and we begin with matt d. who i still can't spell so that's why call a matt d. on his roller coaster career the last few years here's ben crazy i tell the story best of the rollercoaster of emotions that my journey is ben as his last year when i found i wasn't going to return to the ninety five team you know my my wife was so is crying endlessly everyday then we go to bristol and you know obviously sleep a lot of you know what happened there and had a shot at winning that race and didn't really know what to even feel emotionally and then fast forward after that probably two weeks later so a whole span of three weeks went for my wife crying endlessly of sadness too fast forward three weeks later for crying endlessly tears of joy for an opportunity opportunity that i couldn't even put into words that i couldn't even fathom being with almost legendary teams in nascar brother such an amazing family and their alliance with team penske it's been it's been a crazy whirlwind says very just excited to get going what about your level of expectation this year compared to years past i mean this is the best opportunity opportunity i've ever had in my my racing career so it's been i've taken every single person every step of the way every race team that's giving me opportunities to get this but this is obviously salihi you know an amazing team to be with best shot that i've ever had so and i've got great teammates to lean on obviously pretty experienced guy so i think i only on them good but go out there goals go out and out of the gate fasting winston races and how about we bring ryan blaney into this conversation he's gonna talk to us about using the ford simulator as yes afford has a great simulator right actually by raus raus ration- bracing and by concord airport that's been around for i'd probably say five years and five five six years and there's been a long time developing it and things like that and don't a different tracks a lot of the four drivers used that simulator it's helpful not only do the drivers but crew chiefs teams as well you know working on things pre weekend and then you sometimes post weekend kind of breakdown and then just try to get accurate but today was was neat because because so there's two simulators over there and me and matt were kind of racing each other and we were doing a lotta hugging each other we crashed each other few that's a good thing about that race and you can just hit the reset button and it's pretty easy but no we're just doing you know you're always working on kind of behind the car dirtier stuff and we're trying to develop that that's kind of the next stepping stone own in that process obviously simulation is getting better and better as technology keeps advancing and we're just trying to utilize every little bit ryan blaney honey talking yet again on what the next step is to improve for his team at penske when.

"That's right ying and the yang yeah that's that's what it is let's it seems like we're getting our weekly dose of degan here is haley and who was at the rolex twenty four on meeting lyn st. james yeah for sharing meeting lynn someone who's had had such historical presence in this worth grazing seen and done so much in her past and just pick your brain on everything and everything that you know especially not just being a racer being a girl on racing and also just being a tracer at heart and having pure talent like she hasn i think that is definitely cool to go back and go through scenarios different things that we can relate on and with race coming up i'm super excited i think that is definitely going to go good i am glad it stopped raining so that's going to help alive because i felt like today coming out driving especially yesterday to like re baselining everything in the rain i learned a during the roy tests so i think that after the rain stopped get to the race we're gonna have a good run nine yeah now of course she didn't actually run the rolex twenty four she ran the companion event the day before i think what was it three four hour event her presence was felt melt that's true so oh before the next digging quote did you see the paint scheme that should be running in the series did not and so they have unveiled it on on the DJ crossley facebook page it has monster teeth on the front of the car like it looks like a monsters coming out to eat you pretty cool all right nice now check it out yep so big and how did she learn at the rolex twenty four yeah i think he's got a pretty much right there but once again the data has been helping so much it's like i guess he said it's really hard to know where you're messing up where you could work on aware another driver is better than you're even if you're a little part but they gain you in different parts so it's something that it's definitely been helping my learning curve and i feel myself excelling as a road course race to because i am not a road cursory sarah heart monitor so that's just been something that i've had fun learning and is definitely going to be a while before i get better and better but we're definitely learning as it goes and what was the hardest thing to learn while racing that weekend yeah the biggest learning curve for me is the whole not having spotters thing and even if you can't have a spotter that the person next to you might not have and so those are different things you have to take into account the whole paddle shifting between the traction control ABS there's a lot of different things i've had to learn and that i'm still learning and that you can adjust in the car that most of the time you there's a lot of stuff that you can't do on the oval track so it's just a learning curve trying to get better at it trying to keep in mind everything that i can tune on the car and what i can do as a driver to be better versus this is what i want out of the.

"He's always here anyway back to kyle busch and his number fourteen car they finished twenty sixth overall in the race ninth in their car car class now the overall race winner was wayne taylor racing number ten cadillac dp i entry their second straight visit to victory lane in the rolex twenty four that car was yes in a class of its own literally yeah they've got to figure out that's three winds down this race in the last four years for that team and they don't have the taylor brothers driving for for them anymore so it just shows who's behind the wheel of these things are getting done definitely definitely good to see some racing back on the track but man we've got nascar coming what we'll talk talk about later but i mean it's coming it's coming oh definitely it is so my question to you carry did you watch the whole twenty four hours of course not well i didn't either and last year i know this is like the first time in a while but last year i did it and it's such a bomber with the way it ended so this year but you know i'm just gonna take is calm approach i'm gonna watch at my own leisure if i fall asleep i fall asleep if i wake up keep watching if i fall back asleep that's fine too so i think i probably watched i'd say about eight hours this year maybe maybe ten that's that's a lot more than me i watched last two hours it's like you do just tune in for the last two hours well that's all that's important right they give you updates and recaps and all that that stuff i think i watched the opening four and then once cow bush got him for his i watched a little bit longer kind of hung out with the family did some dinner all that stuff offen- watched more than fell asleep and then woke up watch more took a little bit of a break and then once i got down to the last few hours there about back on it was smith's here's good is it race as always i'm so glad that whether didn't give us a bummer finish like last year because that was really our last season you you know me i think the nascar races are too long so twenty four hours come on that's true the fact that you're even down with this idea even it being a thing is is pretty impressive it's so unique it is really making i know they do for lemond a couple of places but you know twenty four hour race especially with how fast they go down the banking and everything there daytona the roughness of all the bumps in the turns down in the the the road course portion with with all the curbing they put up and everything it is just such a grueling race for those cars on how they hang together as long as they do i don't either i don't either that's the the biggest this thing it's not just man it's machine it's you know crew members it's media it's everything that has to come together for that event yeah it's wild it's it's fun though it's fun to watch watch it's fun to take part i'd like to go cover that one year you mentioned this kyle busch now has his own sports energy drink he unleashed it on the world it seems at at the rolex twenty four called rowdy energy now it's not made from kyle's own sweat or the tears of his haters as some have suggested but he was like you said holding a can of during interviews and i guess the flavor was cherry lime eighty couldn't decide on one flavor so he threw like like three together that is the flavor he was holding they do have four flavors total they've got sour apple i.

"Just got to twenty twenty this was back i i it was just using that as an example but i see i'm with you though it was probably seventeen or eighteen when the story happened i dunno okay well that's interesting yeah yeah i'm at the point where we start seeing how many people are walking around the garage area and stuff you start wondering did they even check and if they did check out what does that cardiac on library card sure that's good come on don't hold up the line yeah i mean i'm still honored to have one i'm still it's very cool and all that stuff but yeah there's a lot of people in the garage there is a lot of it is sponsorship and stuff like that they get a certain amount of allotted hard card not hard cards but hot passes they can give out throughout the year and so a lot of that is hospitality allie stuff for the sponsors but it is interesting how many people are the criteria these days and what's funny is the the lower amount of access you actually have while you're in in the garage these days than what you used to have the drivers don't like to hang around very much rush anymore you know what i noticed is i used to have to apply for a hot pass every every weekend that i went to and it was nice and all and it gave you the access but drivers look at you differently that you if you have hard card yeah no definitely for sure so so that's kind of cool yeah that is and i think nascar has been taking better stance i know there for a while they really didn't like the best hard card for media members unless you know they're long tenured folk but they've been doing a better job of checking out people making sure that they're credible months they see that they're credible they they kind of let them in the club so to speak in it's it's been nice for them to do that it's been cool not just for myself you several years ago and but there are other people out there that are working really hard trying to trying to do the other thing and they've all got hard cards now which is really cool to see for sure for sure hey we've been promoting it since early november and this past last weekend it finally happened the twenty four hour endurance race that is known as the rolex twenty four yeah it happened man cow bush competed g like that i was just it's good to see some nascar faces there i'm not a fan of kabul as you know but good to knock it off the rust he makes it up pretty good and his stints that he was behind the wheel yeah he was he was behind one car i was watching one time and he was just he was not having it in the heat of the inside and shoved him up the the hill trafton and everything he was he was giving it everything he had exactly exactly those other drivers are out there going what is nascar dude what the heck do dude we're twenty four hours man yeah it's got fenders on it but that doesn't mean you have to use them right yeah definitely so yeah good to see him out there sporting alexis had no shot at the win no not the overall win knowing that that he had no chance of a win made it actually better ultimate way you can go into a race weekend with kyle busch that's right all right i like him a little bit all right that's fine i actually think that's pretty impressive that he he chose to run it knowing he couldn't win the overall race i think that's pretty cool not a lot of people would really really do that especially at the prime of their career i know guys like age al-medina who kind of on their way out of nascar were in the class and several other guys have competed in this class from nascar before but to do it in this day and age when you're a guy that just won the championship macau bush is speaks volumes to kind of where he is now from where he used is to be allen think he would've entertain this opportunity in the past unless it was a prototype car do you think he shows this ride because it was the most similar to a stock car or he just couldn't find a ride in the prototypes i don't know if it's that he couldn't find a ride and the pro types i think it was just an obvious staying with toyota don't think toyota has a prototype and now they've got cadillacs and other things that i don't think there's a toyota prototype though so with that being said that's the only real link that had there so you kind of have to jump on that if you're wanting to stay aligned with toyota and it turns out this very good chance for him to mark his new energy gee drink that's coming out so that thing was everywhere all over the helmet over the hat he was wearing the shirt had the logo all over him it was pretty wild yeah we'll talk about that in a second let's hear from kyle busch and what he thought of his first rolex twenty four hour event i enjoyed it just you know being able to get back kinda racecar again kind of my season warm up if you will and be able to go out there run on a lapse and unfortunately we just got a little behind with the the break change there we had some issues on the right affront caliber i guess and that got us a little bit further back than we wanted to be but then we just didn't have the long run pace tires would fall off real bad and it was a real handful there layton runs so that's kind of where we lost ground third fourth fifth place guys the front two were just lights out so there was nothing we're going to have those guys you come into a race and you have a plan in a in a driver lineup and things like that and plans change on the fly doodo strategy change due to pitstops caution flags things like that so it's not always cut and dry as it looks and then i fast is this race went with the limited cautions lot was was changing on the fly so that's that's to be expected and for kyle busch what was it like racing at night which he does a lot in the cup series to check it out the racing at night you know people were talking about just how difficult that was or whatever and i've been to some short tracks that don't have very good lights so there was plenty of lights here to see around you know obviously sometimes when you're following a guy or having a guy follow you in their lights are in your ear the entire lap around the racetrack that's a bit difficult but you know it's it's not too bad just getting that experience of some nighttime running was fun and having a first twenty four hours ago was was pretty cool yeah i'm not sure what that question was all about it seems like like you know he he has some experience racing at night it must have been one of wolfgang's two questions yeah yeah wolfgang i heard him in there so i think it was nascar chasm he posted a graph after wolfgang started asking questions and they had like the whole schedule schedule for the season and so the first thing was real x twenty four next was like daytona five hundred other races and rolex twenty four it said on the one side of the chart is questions and it has like one onto three four on the bottom says i would've race and then rolex twenty four got killed in the line to too because he always has to questions right eight yes he does you know the funny thing about wolfgang and we've wondered this allowed is we can't find where he works from what i've talked to him he says he does work with clients that are involved in the industry itself almost like PR's what it seems like from what i've understood but you know i've not found his work but i'm sure it's out there somewhere it's just you know he's writing german outlets and stuff it's kinda hard to find i guess i think he's just an old rich guy that likes racing a lot and how cool would that be as a media guy just to mix it up he's just trolling us for the last fifteen years that's right i mean we've had with them and stuff i know he's a good guy he's a fun guy to talk with you know he'd noses racing there's no question question well he's invited me out to germany i think he's done that for others as well i mean i would imagine if he's done it for me he's done for others but yeah he told me anytime in germany just give them a call he's giving let me as cartilage seventeen times i've got an entire wall wolfgang cards at home he's never there i know right that's how you might he's inviting you yeah.

"LP Ten get ten percent off so oh just In case anybody missed the news Yesterday Roger Penske and Penske Corporation bought indycar I M S S. B. I mess productions I guess technically it's purchased by Penske Entertainment Corporation We don't know what the fears I guess. Since they're a a private company we might not ever know and The purchase should be finalized at some point in the next sixty days so sometime early in two thousand twenty so just a quick recap here as we dive into it be first. Discussions happened actually in the pits at Laguna Seca between Tony George. The End Roger Penske so with that being said guys. How surprised? Are we the Tony. George came to Roger Penske at Laguna said. Hey Hey do you wanna buy a home in and company. I mean the timing was kind of awkward since he was had a lot on his plate that weekend anyways. I'm sure he was a little bit overwhelmed but I mean I guess it's one of those no time like the present type deals Let's face it. I'm shocked by everything about this. A tiny I guess just fits into that mean they you know that would laguna was just over like a month and a half ago and it's basically a done deal now It's very quick. It's very interesting to me. I can't believe I. I think the timing is a little weird to bring it up good steak but when we saw the news at I I was perplexed. I didn't really know what to make of it. I was a little worried to start out. Because you know these kind of things can I have a bad impact. If it doesn't go correctly but honestly you know is we're going to talk about throughout the show. I think so far. Everything sounds good And Tony George won't be in the picture anymore for the most part. So that's great in my opinion so Yeah crazy day a historic day. I mean it was cool to be encompassed in history. All this is GONNA be talking about for a long time up there with the merger. The split things like that. So a crazy crazy day yet while Definitely they text message to wake up to in the in the morning warning. I guess you know six six weeks is you know. It's it's a pretty long length of time but to you. Know to buy a a multi million or hundred hundreds of millions of dollars of company I it that's that's that's pretty quick turnaround so Good on them. They worked it out that quick and it was a Yeoman an easy process which are are. We surprised that out of anything in INDYCAR. Almost everything gets leaked in some capacity and nobody had any idea. This was coming today so Where where does this rate on your not really that surprising to God is the world that level of surprise? I think the fact that it was no rumors hers whatsoever anywhere Not Quite the end of the world but it was you know really just out of left. Field breaking news a has seismic effects. So I'm really impressed that it wasn't leaked. I think that definitely helps penske the any car company. Whoever helps them control the narrative a little whereas if if this got leaked a week ago I think the rumor Mills Woulda gone crazy Enforced penske or whoever to release a statement Blah Blah. They wouldn't have been able to control the narrative like you know announcing it and then having a press conference two hours later like they. Today's so yeah. I think it really caught just about everybody off guard in get on them for not leaking. It's anybody I feel like what they talked about. In the press conference where they talked about the people that were involved in the actual discussions the very very very select few people and I feel like they did that for a reason and I think they did a fabulous job on doing this in yes. I'm surprised prized. It did not get leaked. I think they did a really good job in and frankly like you said I think it helps them. Henna keep control of everything and not let it get spun in a light that maybe isn't true So I feel like they did the best. They could have done with This I will call it or shattering. H- announcement because I did not see this coming in the ramifications occasions For you know not only I am as in IAMs productions in Indycar but also the town speedway the tenement Indianapolis Just anybody that has any kind of involvement at all with racing It's it's huge. Yeah the only thing I'll add to that is I'm glad the press conference. Was You know just a few hours after I broke so it. It quieted down the While for a little bit the craziness on social media that the world was going to end and Roger Penske was is going to urge indycar with NASCAR. I saw some crazy stuff on there this morning. But we will continue on bats I don't even know if I have the words for that The I mean like like we said earlier. There's there's so many facets to this that we're GonNa Kinda touch on here in one of the things that was mentioned in the press conference today. was that penske reiterated. The fact that when he acquires businesses she likes to stick with the assets that the business has already the and when when we say acids we usually mean the human personnels that they have obviously one of the things that a lot of people were worried about immediately with people like like Jay Frye Mark Miles Doug Bulls a lot of the great people within Indycar and you know who do such a good job for the sport and he said that he likes to keep the assets in place in working with what he got so far as that goes. Do you guys see Jay Frye Mark Miles keeping their jobs. CBS after today's announcement yes I don't think they're going anywhere. Fact Mark Miles was in the press conference today. You speak pretty highly to that. That the fact that Roger Penske kept mentioning Mark Miles j FRY ill multiple times throughout the press conference. I don't I don't think they're going anywhere. I think they're a hugely important to the long term success of Indycar so Roger is smart to keep them on board. I agree I definitely see them. Staying even talked about I some of the changes that possibly could happen at the five hundred talked about. Are you know he wanted to to get with them and talk about things so I I don't see them going anywhere anytime soon nor do I have fingers crossed. I think they have done such a good job of building a really good team. And you know we're GonNa talk about things like the schedule. Third engine manufacturer do things like that. But it seems like Mark Miles j fries. Stephen Stark's like they all have a clear image of what they're trying to do. And so I feel hopefully like that. That won't be interrupted unless penske thinks that something can be done in a separate way. which kind of leads to the next question is that you know with things like the third? Oem and other or stuff. Do you still see Jay. Frye company Mark Miles in company you know working autonomously as in like you know. They're just gonNA keep doing what they're doing or do you. You think they're gonNA have to either accept more input from Roger Penske when it comes to those maybe upper level decisions. I think it's GONNA BE I. I don't know I think there are GonNa be situations where the two of them that are gonna be continuing to work things out the way they have. I Bet I also think that he is going to have suggestions and He is going to want to look at different actions Obviously hey this is now his baby and he's going to want to do well be profitable and move forward. So I think that I think there's there's GonNa be a good mix of situations where he's GonNa definitely have input or he's going to listen to what they are. Impotent is in and go with with amny has they haven't done such a good job here getting into car back to where I think. The one thing we won't see is any sort of your joe major conflict between Roger and J slash mark. I think just hit the nail on the head there. They'll be things that Jay in Marquel known just fine they'll be things You know to quote are roughly quote Roger Today. You know it's time you know I'm GonNa take some risk of some things in Break the glass so you know who knows what the future will hold their but You know listen Rogers go getter if you want something to happen. He's GonNa find a way to make it happen happen but I don't think he'll do that necessarily at the expense of his working relationship with Jay and mark. I'm GonNa make an old person reference references since I turned twenty six next week but I bet Roger Penske has one hell of a Rolodex You think about the amount of people he's connected with over the years especially the auto industry. What are you shaking your head that you're older than me? Actually I was headed. It's not that much of an old person reference Afri- I guess but most people don't know what a Rolodexes is that fair that's fair okay Yeah I mean he's going to have somebody connections. I think that's one of the things. When J fry was hired that you know Jay Frye had so many connections based on his work in the industry in the past? But you know you take that and times that by being in the business nineteen fifty five million. That's going to be so many connections so I think you know definitely doesn't hurt the help if they just come to say. AM troubles finding a third engine manufacturing helped Rogers pulls out his phone and calls for people transfigure something out so yeah. I definitely think that she can definitely offer input and help them by still feel like day. FRY Mark Miles will continue to kind of do their their own thing per se to help the for so on that now will kind of transition into the immediate ramifications for the five hundred. We won't get into too many details details. We don't know too many details. Obviously everybody's wanting to know about the traditions and everything else and that's GonNa come later down. The Road Rhode Penske. Did make it clear that he wants to work on the fan experience there at the track he mentioned possibly more fan. Dan Zones Things like that to make it more fan friendly. I guess maybe I don't know the whole weekend just amp empathy even more than it already is which is kind of hard to do and then he also somebody as about What about guaranteed wanted entries because he was in favor of that last year said that he wants to work with Mark Miles in Jay. Frye in a Just get things You know clear amongst the three of them in just work together to keep either. Keep the tradition going or see what would make more business sense for everybody involved. So do you guys saying that guaranteed Tade entries are now closer to happening. Will you bring up a good point with traditions. I did see on twitter. The think I saw that Mike joke was it's GonNa be doing the start your engines. He's now is I can't confirm or deny that but anyways yeah those kind of little subtle things. Even the Jaquier I think was saying you know the little things like bringing it being able to bring your own cooler and things things like that like that stuff matters to the fans and they may have like being minor decisions in a boardroom. Type setting the has a huge impact on just the tradition so again with thirty three entry thing. We've discussed a lot between the months of February and may last year and it was super annoying to be honest. But that kind of thing is gonNa rise again and I think it's going to be a huge test to see. If now is penske GONNA get his way or is he can Take seep listen to Jay frying company who it seemed like. They're against it. So I I definitely. There's more of a chance guaranteed entries happening now. The penske is the owner her. But I don't think it's a foregone conclusion quite yet I also feel like we will probably have that discussion point probably about seven or twelve twelve more times before the month of May in two thousand and twenty and yes I will be giving the command to start your engines next year. You heard it here. I I know you heard from me. I on twitter worked out the wording on twitter too. If you guys want to see it it's GonNa be real good. Yeah and Mike also heard from her veil even contact with Mike yet on kind of just broken tim. So that's cool. I appreciate the anyway I I know like I said I think we're GONNA see this..

GameStop Employee Weighs in on Drastic Store Redesign

"Did get as we asked for any game stop employees who want to write in with author experience obviously with the redesign everything happening in anonymous game. Stop employees did right into beyond Jim Dot com and I want to read their comment because I really appreciate their input yet by the way that's so great. Thank you for doing that like you know it's it's surely not the most comfortable thing in the world kind of all of that information out there and yet eh yeah we super appreciate an of course want to respect your and the nitty so I will just say the comment that they wrote in. I just wanted to give my perspective surrounding the discussion this week's episode beyond I've been with the company for nearly nine years now and I've been around for many of the ups and downs along the way the upcoming changes to stores are exciting to me being a store leader that takes pride in their their stores customer service this initiative to bring back a sense of community a smart move on the company's part with the general public's growing disdain for game stop over the years. It is refreshing to change focus focus from the products we sell to the community build Brian's example from episode is the exact reason I love what I do. Casual conversations about games are my favorite part of the job as as well sharing my passion for games with others so they might learn to love them the way I do. The declined game stop has almost become a self-fulfilling prophecy at this point much like the fall toys R. US so many people want to close but so few people talk about the experiences that are had within brick and mortar stores again like Brian's antidote. We need more of that unless the tired of five centrating jokes hopefully this insight is helpful in some way and I'd love to elaborate further they said and they did wonderfully keep up the great work because look to each episode every week so yeah I just WanNa during that in it's amazing to have that perspective. Obviously we don't anyone who currently does not work at game stop but it's definitely something that I know. Our audience has a very vested interest interest in because a lot of people have had good experiences. Obviously it's very easy to be callous and say yeah they should close but yet those grade yeah it's also I think that we we have a tendency to complete our hatred for that store with the hatred of Google and pretty much every retail shopping experience right. I mean we're we're so conditioned to have things instantly delivered within hours at this point that I've had bad retail experiences at the grocery store and that's the place that I'm not gonNA stop going to or going going to close or something like that. It just happens everywhere actually went to a game stop this morning. two days before closing permanently on market street in San Francisco we talked about in the last episode to to pick up my Switzerland and I was thinking like you know like I have been coming to the store periodically throughout the years and I'm going to have you know we'll have some nostalgia for that and I was thinking of putting together like a sap post for why it meant something to me but then a guy wearing Christmas pajamas cut me in line and spent like sixteen minutes buying ps Vr with like coins and I was like yeah it can be a pain in the ass give and take but had I gone John and just Kinda hang out in like buy snacks and like play video games. Maybe if they stayed open late on the night of a midnight released not only for a launch party but like if the new smash brothers is coming out get everybody to sit down spend you know charge ten bucks or fifteen bucks per head order a bunch of pizza and sodas for everybody and they can sit around playing demo versions of the game or the last game or something like that like make a launch party out of it. You know make an actual fun thing for it so I'm going to do an arcade. Hey Yeah yeah that too. Well yeah charge people to play video games and set up a retro corner where you have one of those like restaurants that can plug in thousand in different systems and ship a bunch of Retro Games at the store we have a we have a bar in San Francisco called Soda Pop penske's that has an any corner and it's got a just big box of games that you can go in the corner and just sit down and play video games night and it's like there's nothing really wonderful about that and like I'll pick up the controller and like speed run the original Mario Pass it and someone also play Contra or something like I think nick our generation as the older we get we want immediate accessibility to stuff like that and maybe some people don't want to buy a switch or ps four and they just want to go and play video video game for ten minutes and have a good time with it and I think that's a great opportunity for that. I also just want to add that like as someone we all work in in what is now known as specialist media and I think that you're saying it's a self fulfilling prophecy emphasizing the years you've heard or against ops like going down the toilet and Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah we hear that a lot as well like I is just trash Ville Romao. You know what I mean like. It's I just find it really a wonderful that I don't know that you still have face in store in the chain and the brand because like that's something that we have to have as well otherwise we would not be here yeah and yeah. I just think it's really awesome that that this is an exciting thing I it seen as is an exciting thing internally and I really just wish you guys the best of

"Fantastic year. You're always a team guy. I know you said your name's on the door but you're able to have this amazing way way about you that you pick the right people all the time and it's and i think things like that is what got you the medal of freedom from president trump. What's that feel like well. I can tell you that <hes> i it's just so humbling when you even asked me about it to be able to receive this medal looking. Hopefully it'll be here sometime in october. We're talking about it but to think that truman back i think in in forty five or whatever it was that he brought it to the attention. This is reward award. People who are coming special people who've been in the military serving them country with the medal of honor and then then john kennedy decided to make the presidential freedom medal of honor honor and to me to be in that group of people may richard petty got enough. You know that or not richard got it and it just it's amazing for me a family also for my team. I guess that's what i say very humbling. You know you <hes> you mentioned. Richard petty got that elvis presley got it also so did he got tiger. Woods got it richard petty roger penske. That's got a special ring to a dozen my one of the i think the one in the astronaut teams got it it also the one of the astronaut group got to just on and on just some wonderful people you know we first started the team back in nineteen ninety-one. I'll never forget you you. You took us under your wing. You tutored everybody long. You'd be kind of cleaned up shaped us up. We had the best looking trucks best looking outfits best looking cars and everything but you know every time i came in i was i think you know by won. The championship and eighty-nine eva's one thing but when we started the team i think everybody was looking at our our team in ninety-one going what is going on getting his first win with his brand new team in nineteen ninety one. This is where i started my first win with new penske racing team and did you have a feeling in your heart back then maybe like i had that we were having a little bit of a tough time being accepted into nascar the way we wanted to do things well i. I guess that <hes> <hes> we we had a vision. We had a mission. <hes> we had a way we did business and earn our right. There's no question you know is a southern sport. At that point. We were the indie boys coming with a polish wheels coup haircuts and you cut your hair my hair a lot of members today. Patty says that guy and i'm pretty good up anyhow. No i think it was just a matter of head to perform and coming out of the box. I remember in atlanta. We almost won that first. I race with that impala and to me it was just a commitment and you kept us together at one point. You said i was gonna spend out. I remember we had a meeting at daytona so let's keep going. I think that really paved the way number of races we won the relationship with miller genuine draft that car still an iconic car and all the things that we were able to do in the friendships that we met uh-huh built with earnhardt remember that we became good friends went fishing with him and the whole team dale imminent in the woods brothers with our relationship with them today. These are times that i'll never forget yet but <hes> you know it's when you come into a new show people. Who are these guys and we might say this member warner hunch that came a lot of people come and gone on but i think we stayed the route. We got good people and good people attract. Good people rush you being on that team. Helps us attract the best you think about people that today jimmy we make our work for us and look where he is today in robin pemberton just some of the people that we saw down the road and this is why.

"It's a secret we kept that secret. We didn't have chassis Dyno those days and other things. So we actually took the car to Trent are to to Nazereth in the snow cleared the track and we're running our ability laps with Paul Tracy and a ski suit. So and then we announced it what it was a two weeks before the race. And everybody couldn't believe that we're running push rod and we went on to win that race. I think we let every lap but to and then they allied change. The car engines specs reduced power by half. And then a week later. They just they disallowed to the category with with a push rod. So great history. Probably I'd have to say that was one of the greatest victories. Nobody knew we were coming and to see the Norbert Holl and Xantia and you're in Hobart and the team standing up there in the sweet sing at that. Mercedes this blowing off was an saying those guys and Team Penske shirts. Penske-mercedes search was for me. Something I'll never forget these Mercedes the big weeks miss from his eighties. These are the top guy. I mean, the CEO and Hoover had a sales and Norbert how you buy know that name. He he was in charge of the racing business for a long time. It was a big day. We've had a lot of questions about the Senate test in ninety two. How close way you offering him a drive was it a serious test. Well, I think it was the relationship that Emerson Fittipaldi had you know, was at center, and it was great to see him jump in the car and how quickly he adapted to it. But at that point is Formula one and what we were doing. I think it was more to have him get a chance to drive it understand it, and maybe that was going to be a touch point for us the next year the following year. So, you know, something like that you love to do in the fact that Amerson, you know, our relationship with Emerson in the team are sponsored at Marlborough. It was it was a great great opportunity. Gaff off hit who's your favorite British drivers. Dario Frankie TS here tonight. David Hobbs, Joan Watson or rub grab it. Well, look all of those drivers are great friends of mine. So to pick one I'm going to get the other three guys mad, but you'd have to say that the John Watson winning a Formula one race for us was pretty special and the disappointment probably is it Frankie I knew him because of his Mercedes when he was running the sedan's back early on in his career became great friends, and he was a tremendous competitive. Ours was going to ask on the other hand. I'm just gonna take Watson because he won the only Formula one race. And that's the only reason I apologize to the couple is it that you all seem to shave his bid of. I think he did shave finally didn't it. Yeah. Well, listen, it's interesting. You know, we kind of have this claimed look, you know, we're like the choirboys come to the track. But yeah, I'm I'm not a big I in facial hair. Quite honestly. But who knows maybe as I get older? I'll be more understanding. I thought Ryan Blaney. Look like. Did you see him at Daytona this on his own? You should see this week. And he looked pretty sharp. NC Jenkins has also asked Mr. Penske who coined the term, the captain, and do you accept the term of respect or dim, and well, I think that I'm not sure where that started whether Donahue call me, the captain, but you know, at the hall of fame induction in NASCAR a couple of weeks ago. I've got thirteen grandchildren. They call me, Mr. fun because I don't I don't baby shit. I only having fun. So my son said he was going to introduce me that night as Mr. fund I said, look, I'm not going to be funded. I'm gonna be the captain. So it's a term people. Call me, certainly. It's an honor for people to call the captain looks like I'm magic something to to have that that opportunity name I'm going to another slight couple here from Scott McClellan..
