He said that on November 4th And he has never recounted that statement. Since Despite President Trump's pressure at the time. Election officials around the country. He tweeted in all capital letters as if shouting commands. Quote. Stop the count. Stop the fraud. Senators. Is dangerous. I also want you to remember these tweets for another reason. Because that's what it looks like when Donald Trump wants people to stop doing something. And bear in mind. This is not the president saying to his supporters that somebody stole your cup of coffee. Good morning again first I want to thank you, Phillipe Department of Public Health Silly fighting Cove it for organizing this clinic Every weekend, the city gave Billy Fighting Cove it thousands of vaccine doses to administer. But the logistical strength that had made the startup seems so attractive to the city started to falter fast. For one thing, Billy fighting Covad reorganized as a for profit and abruptly stopped testing. Michael Brown had been working with them to do testing on Martin Luther King Day. He says Erosion told his group that testing just wasn't important anymore. The statement he made was very clear. I don't believe the testing. Is relevant anymore. People don't follow the instructions. People don't do what they're supposed to do so and all it does not put his paws panic. Things weren't going smoothly at the convention center, either. Julian Horn came to get a shot and watched his seniors were turned away due to booking errors. It definitely rubbed me the wrong way to watch Andre Walk. Pretty openly from the vaccine area over to his belongings and packed. I don't know how many vaccines I would guess. Maybe 10 or 15. Um, in a plastic bag with the CDC vaccination record card. Now, after the city has cut ties, Health Commissioner Tom Farley is on the defensive. All people can understand why there's on the surface. "P S. We continue our coverage of election 2020 and all eyes this afternoon are on the Keystone State. 20 electoral votes at stake in Pennsylvania is poised To make Joe Biden, the nation's 46th president, Scranton native past President Trump in the vote count this morning, joining us now to discuss that count. Jim Millward He's a reporter with K Y W in Philly. Jim. Thanks so much for being with us. Yeah, Absolutely. Thanks for having me. So what can you tell us about these mail in ballots that you guys have received since 8 P.m. on Tuesday? Well, it's down to about 113,000 that still remain to be counted and 60,000 of those air from the heavily democratic areas of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. But as we get down to these lower numbers were starting to get into the ones that might be a little more challenging to count. For whatever reason. Maybe they were damaged when they were opening the envelopes s O. We're kind of seeing that slowed down a little bit. But still, obviously that's significant number from the democratic areas. And remember that 1.6 million of these ballots came from registered Democrats to 600,000 across Pennsylvania from registered Republicans can't say how they voted. But when you look at a discrepancy of one million, obviously there's a difference. So this is kind of how we expected it to breakdown where you'd see President Trump jumped out to a big lead with in person voting. And then the mail in ballots kind of bring that back together of the key battleground states. Pennsylvania has been the slowest in getting everything counted. Some of our listeners might be wondering why that's still the case. Explain that to us. So that there was a lead up to this where there was a battle over pre canvassing of not counting ballots, but actually opening the envelopes and just flatten him out and then being ready on election day to fire them into the scanners on and it became a partisan issue somehow, and Republicans wouldn't relent on that. So 7 A.m.. They had to start opening these ballots to envelopes on on each ballot. And then flattening amount, which was a very time consuming process on DH, So that really slowed things down on then also, I mean court challenges. Ey're just firing left and right, its its refresh the number of the counting screen and then refresh the court dockets, and that's that's really been what we've been doing the last two days, so you combine Not being allowed to print the ballots. And then also all these court challenges. And it's really you know, stretching people thin, right? Nobody knows exactly what will happen. And you were talking about this 100,000 plus mailings that still need to be counted. What about the provisional votes? Yeah, that's that's a great question. Andi. Also there are looking at the number of year provisionals. There's about 85,000 provisional ballots that that have been reported to the Department of State on and they're going to have to go through those and find out. Was this someone who didn't get a ballot or wasn't sure if that mail in ballot was going to get back in time, So they went and cast a provisional ballot will have to double check all those 85,000 obviously when we're dealing With a difference right now of of 13,000 votes separating President Trump and Vice President Biden. It's a huge number. And so once they get all these kind of then we'll get to the provisional. So we might be waiting into next week before we have a real solid idea. Quick, quick update Before we go. We had the story of last night's arrest of a couple of armed men outside the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Anything you could tell us right now. Charges have been filed. They have filed charges against those those those two AA and there were some threats today, but nothing substantiated. Hey, Jim, Those two men are from Virginia. NPR's Alina sell you on the ground in Philadelphia for us with this breaking news. Thanks, Elina. Thank you. And again that breaking news is that Joe Biden now leads Pennsylvania by more than 5000 votes a little bit earlier this morning as the count was moving in Joe Biden's direction we got on the phone with John Fetterman. He is the lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania. There is not one county or region in Pennsylvania, where those ballots don't wildly to Joe Biden. Whether it's 60, 40 and even out of Philadelphia, it's high 90 10. You know, so it's It's mass at this point, and it's inevitable in Pennsylvania how the count's going to go so I mean, it's just a reality here on the ground. I want to just emphasize also because the president has sought to make this a partisan issue. He's falsely said the Democrats were counting in Georgia, where most officials are Republican, for example. I know that you're you're a Democrat there plenty of Democrats involved in the counting in Pennsylvania. But is it correct that this is a nonpartisan process? Also in Pennsylvania that involves both Democrats and Republicans Court? Of course, your Your your listeners can encourage them toe follow Commissioner Al Schmidt in Philadelphia. He's a Republican voting commissioner who's helping oversee it and manage it literally. And you can go online and watch them counted on the Internet from anywhere in the world. So this idea, like I can't even have to see this because it lends credence to these outrageous statements and lives. About the process, not being open and transparent. You know, our election in Pennsylvania went, you know just incredibly well, no voter fraud, No voter intimidation anything and we are counting these ballots. And it's taking this long because the Republican Legislature refused to allow even a 24 hour extra window to pre canvass these male and balance. But now they didn't. So now they're saying, Well, why is it taking so long? Because you would let the state pre canvas Earlier so we could get a result more quickly. So there was an argument. There was an argument over whether preparatory steps could be taken before the closing. And then I win if I might, though, when the president falsely claims he did last night that there's some kind of fraud somewhere and again. He offered no evidence for that. He didn't even really try to back up this case. He just made it. How if it all does that affect the work of ballot counters in Pennsylvania? It doesn't The president sadly, has just assumed the role of some random Internet chul saying, you know, pointless, outlandish things and I just tune it out. It's just I don't care how big your microphone is. It doesn't make a lie anymore. True, and the fact of the matter is the count is going fine in Pennsylvania. The math is inevitable. Let me ask you, Lieutenant Governor about security. I'm told the Philadelphia Police are investigating some kind of plot. To attack a convention center where votes are being counted. What have you learned? I mean, I know what you know, in terms of of what what's being read and whatever but again, it's just contributing to this. This atmosphere of chaos. You know, everyone just needs Tio take take a deep breath and realize that all these forecasts of doom and gloom about our election. Work, then come to pass. As I've consistently said, You know, we have this process well under control. We are counting and we're wrapping up. After the largest election we've ever had in our Commonwealth, and the results will be true and will absolutely reflected democratic will of our residents. That's effect and I will never tweet out anything, nor will my government. My governor tweet out anything that Twitter has to slap a warning on like a practiced cigarettes. Any statement coming from any Pennsylvania officials? Is going to be true. Based on facts and in reality, no warnings are going to be necessary on social media. John Fetterman is lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Federman. Thanks so much for the time really appreciate it..
