Fresh update on "pearl" discussed on EIG MKE Philanthropic Show

"Community outreach. And I'm talking in the segment with Christy Miller from pearls for teen girls. So let's talk impact. Christy. What? What does success and impact look like? For pearls for teen girls. So we tracked a ton of data at pearls. And I will say for a small nonprofit thea mount of time and resources we invest in data tracking is pretty remarkable. So I have some qualitative success and I have some quantitative success. Quantitatively. I can tell you that over the last 10 years 99% of girls who actively participate in pearls, she's not to get pregnant. Girl who chooses not to get pregnant. There are all sorts of amazing economic positive indicators in our community when we can have that happen. So we're proud of that We were not a pregnancy prevention program. We like to say that that choice is a byproduct of the work that we do with girls working on their social and emotional well being. A couple of other statistics all throw out to you upwards of 97% of our high school seniors graduate from high school, and then roughly 97% of those girls are on track for post secondary success, and again that's over the last 10 years. So the way we define postsecondary success early and pearls history. We used to limit that to just college, the girl graduates high school and goes on the college. We're gonna come back to six success. We clicked that quickly realized that that's not what to find success that there are girls who are going to choose a two year program, a technical school, a trade focus career. We have girls who go into the military right out of high school. Those are all successes in our eyes. So we've pivoted away from that earlier thinking of college only and have now incorporated different tracks for girls to consider us. They move their way through high school. Qualitatively, Aiken say, And it's an exciting time. We're working with a new evaluator. Now, how can we measure a girl's building on her own resiliency or grit or hope? Um, what impact his pearls had on a girl's ability to navigate life because we know life is certainly gonna brain challenges. What his pearls impact been on that girl's ability to navigate tough times so mortar that we won't know the outcomes of that evaluation. Hopefully here in the next year, so we'll have some more. Some stories to share. But we we measure quite a bit, and the one common thread we find is the more services that Pearl's girls take advantage of. The more successful they're going to be. We're talking about challenges and overcoming them. I mean, you work with your girls on those things. Have you encountered any challenges? And if so, how did you overcome them as an organization? Yeah. You know, I think our biggest challenge and it's similar to Marco and Operation Dream. There are so many more girls who have needs than our ability to meet them s so we are continually Strengthening partnerships in the community to figure out you know less about turf and less about their my donor. There, your donor and more about how can we as nonprofits Wraparound, are rapper arms around our youth and get them the services they need, Whether it's our services or we think another nonprofit would be better suited for that girl. We're going to do whatever we can to get to his many girls as possible. S o. I think resource is our our biggest challenge and lack of resource is we're limited on how many girls we can reach and you're working toward resolving that challenge, Right? You know what about your plans for the future? You know what do your hopes to grow? You talked a little bit about that. But specifically, like what? What do your 2021 goals? What are your goals? Five years from now? Beyond that, we've served thousands and thousands of girls over the last 27 years. And we are finding that we need to develop different approaches to get two more girls are focused will continue to be here in Milwaukee, and we're piloting some programming right now that we call in house programming. So the traditional pearls model is we have a program coordinator. Go out into the community, deliver pearls programming and then come back to the main office to meet with programming team prepped for her next session. We're now in the third year of a pilot that we call in house. And with that model we have a pearls program coordinator housed in the school. Monday through Thursday. She's there every day. She's holding group every day with Pearl's girls, and then she's viewed as a resource for teachers, other teachers in the building, so we're excited to be collecting data. Now. On what impact are we having unfurls girl's behavior in school, their academic progress in school? What, if any, are we doing to add value to the school? So that's kind of our newest model for how to deliver pearls programming and we suspect that as we grow, that's the model that will see grow. Why had asked Marco this question? I'm curious how you would respond, pivoting to covert heavy had to do that. And if so, how have you done it? Yeah. I mean, man, I remember back in March, we sat down is the leadership team and we thought, okay, this is about a month. We'll put together some really great. Virtual programming, and then we'll be back at it in person, and here we are, almost a year later, and we're still virtual. So we've adapted all of our programming to be virtual. Only girls are still meeting once a week, and they're small groups, but now they're doing it. Assume Google classroom You know, by text by face time with their coordinator, however, we can get to them. The biggest challenge we're finding is the girl's having access to technology. So we are working hard to partner with those in the city who are addressing that specifically places like the public library the United Way Anywhere that we can send our families to make sure that they have what they need for their daughters and their sons to participate in virtual programming. All of that programming is proving to be Even more needed now than it. WASP. Rico Vid Girls are feeling very isolated in these times. They're not in school. They're not having those sisterhood moments with their friends. And pearls is providing that safe space even if it's just for a couple of hours a week for girls to talk about their fears, their frustrations, their wishes, their dreams and to just have fun because I just don't think kids are having a whole lot of fun these days. So if we could be that little bit of glamour, and they're weak and help them feel seen Then we're we're doing something right? Absolutely well, you guys are doing great work, both of you great examples of how to reach out and make a difference for someone else away to lead by example. So people listening if they want to get more information, or help out become a mentor. Get involved with your organization. What can they do to support your mission to empower girls?.

Barry Lopez, Acclaimed Author And Traveler Beyond Many Horizons, Dies At 75

"National book award winner berry lopez was famous for chronicling his travels to remote places and the landscapes he found there but his writings weren't simply account of his journeys they were reminders of how precious life on earth is an our responsibility to care for it. He died after a long battle with prostate cancer just months. After a wildfire forced him from his oregon home he was seventy five years old. Npr's dave blanchard has this remembrance berry lopez spent more than thirty years writing his last book horizon. He don't spend that much time on a project without going through periods of self doubt when i met him at his home last year he told me when he was feeling defeated by the work. He'd walk along the nearby mckenzie river. Every time i did there was a beaver. Stick in the water at my feet. And they're of course their workers. So i imagine the beaver were saying. What the hell's wrong with you. You get back in there and do your work up. In his studio he had a collection of the stakes are little tooth marks. It was a lesson for lopez. Every day i walked in that room. I saw the signs of. Don't lose in yourself. This was the world of barry. Lopez beaver could teach you the most valuable lessons. Lopez was born in new york but his father moved the family to california when he was a child. Hugh eventually settle in game. Notice for his writing about the natural world he win the nineteen eighty-six book award for nonfiction. Work arctic dreams at the time he told npr how he approached the seemingly empty arctic environment. I made myself pay attention to places where i thought nothing was going on. And then after a while the landscape materialized in a in a fuller way denied. I imagine that at first glance in lopez books. A cloudy sky contains grays of pigeon feathers of slate in pearls packs of hammerhead sharks in the galapagos. Move like swans million a city park pond composer john. Luther adams was a friend and collaborator of lopez. For nearly four decades he says lopez writing serves as a wake-up call. She surveys the beauty of the world. And at the same time the cruelty and violence that we humans inflict on the earth and on one another and he doesn't with deep compassion lopez experienced that cruelty first hand as a child. He was sexually abused by a family. Friend he i wrote about it in two thousand thirteen. He later told. Npr experience made him feel afraid and shameful around other people. The animals encountered in the california wilderness. Offered something different. They didn't say oh. We know what you went through. I felt accepted by the animal world. Lopez would spend his life writing about that world in particular the damage done to it by climate change. That hit home for lopez. This past september much of his property was burned in wildfires tore through oregon partly due to abnormally dry conditions. His wife deborah gordon says he lost decades of notes and correspondence and much of the forest around the home where lopez had lived for fifty years. He talked a lot about climate change in. And how it's so easy to think it's going to happen to other people and not to you but it happened to us. It happened to him personally. And i think that the fire was just a blow. That not just couldn't quite ever get back from when i spoke to lopez last year. He said he always sought to find. Grace in the middle of devastation is so difficult to be a human being. There are so many reasons to give up to retreat into cynicism or despair. I hate to see that. And i i want to do something that makes people feel safe and loved and capable in his last days. His family brought objects from home to him in hospice. Among the items the beaver stakes from his studio dave blanchard. Npr news

Red Hat CEO Turned IBM President Jim Whitehurst Drives Cultural Change

"For too long into the red hat experience. But but how i'd be fascinated understand now yet a new culture a very different one from red hats After the acquisition talk about your own personal journey going from that dynamism of the red hat experience to the much larger organization different culture of ibm. Yeah sure i'm right in the middle of it. So i can spend a ton of time on Five hours on it or we'd spent five minutes so i'll start with a little bit. You know so what. I think i learned over time is out. I would argue. Delta airlines not was on the board of united now is incredibly well run company and it has a culture that would have killed red. Hat's red hat is a very well run company and it has a culture that would kill delta different. I'm gonna get together culture up at operating model because you're operating models really what drives cultures so it's leadership style behaviors sure banishment processes to org structure all electric culture. So i'm gonna munch those together. We had time. I can try to tease those apart. Let me just start off with those things together. A bit so in observation there is many companies have developed the operating model culture to dry standardization efficiency. Right that's what delta did the recent delta's the most on time airline at least the majors is because we spent a lotta time driving a ton of efficiency standardization. You're everything you're doing about how you take variance out and that's great for driving efficiency. Not really good for driving innovation because innovation is frankly all about driving variance in and so i got to red hat. What i thought was chaos. Lovely before i kill the i learned over. Time was just a relatively. Extreme way to trotted drive a faster pace of innovation and you know just taking the extremes the operating model delta. It's a single digit margin business where you are running very own. We wanna take in the last piece lettuce office salad. You'd get a salad. I mean you're like really really you know. It's a tough business in the software business if you get a winning product it money. Any software products gross margins are ninety plus percent if it's a winner jimmy lot of money so the question is will generate a winner and so once the innovation model that likely to try to write set of stuff where you ultimately ended up with winter. And so you know. I think for even how i spent every day at church at delta versus read different the cultures were is just the whole models are set up differently and so fast forward to that has one of the reasons why i have moved over to be. President of ibm is not because we want to drive red hats culture to be. Ibm's culture because ibm as a lot of services businesses we Mainframe hardware bunch of other things. But we want to try elements of the. I read culture in ibm. And the reason. I start off with that. Preamble and i encourage every company around. This ought to be really really chris. There is no better and worse. Culture operating model there are cultures and models that are used for different things. And here's the trick. Most companies a even red hat at both right you know we still had accounts payable processes and other things where we frankly didn't need all that innovation those standardize delta you want no innovation safety procedures before your trust me No examination there on the website you want experimentation so we're all mixes of those in it so to start off kind of coming into red hat. Everybody will most people idea are looking for breath of fresh air and a change. And i think we're trying to do some of that. But to be very very chris there elements of ibm's model. That are really important for what we do. And their elements red. Hat's model that we want to inject into ibm to change. But it's not a value judgment of better worse. It's different for different purposes. By the way. I'll say this is true in it. And i think a lot of people mess up in it they create a innovation group. That separate have no problem with the separate innovation group yet. But you can't over celebrate it like the special kids in the people who are running your european than keeping the lights on or not right and he can say hey. I'm gonna for model for these things. But they're both equally important is like a heart alone. Got gotta have both right. So i spent a lot of time at ibm talking about those things. Now what we've done from there is. We are very chris that there were three components of halter characteristics of culture. That we wanna drive ibm Entrepreneurial spirit growth mindset in radical candor. But we've also been very clear. Those are attributes. And i don't know how to implement an attribute i don't even know but when i can't do is i can exhibit behaviors. So we started. We're starting off in Stop word route. Which is it's like. Ninety percent of the prophets is probably fifty percent of the people but in the software group We're taking all of our managers breaking cohorts. Were having town halls meetings. You define behaviors that leap believe support radical candor growth mindset Upper pearl spirit and. Then we're going to be very clear on that what we expect of our people were setting up kind of bottom up rewards and incentives around those things and so i'll say you know behavior i if i'm gonna meeting in someone doesn't speak up. I will proactively ask everybody meeting before we make a decision and stuff like that or going to keep thirty minutes of every agenda free open time so people have issues talk so it's not hard stuff but you kind of put together the thirtieth those behaviors in now you start getting changed applied. The of really really involved. But i've been very crisp up front. There's kind of driving future state in seeking future state if you want to think about the opposing models not way. You know the way i talk about is. Ibm is very much. We plan yet. We get prescribed it and then we kind of execute. Where red hat we configure. We don't really plan because you're kind of configuring organization. Yup we can enable rather than really prescribing. We more engaged for executed. What

"pearl" Discussed on Radiant Pearl Living-RPL Live with Stacy Zant

"The reason why. I say this is because my closet to be frank was a disaster. It had become a space where everything would just be jam-packed and hidden away. At least i thought it would be. Because i had my large mirror screen door that i could just cover everything in that space. If we had guests or anyone coming over there was no need for them to open that because they would have their other furniture is that they could use to place their belongings and it really became a collection of things from hats to you know some of my older dresses. Even my wedding dress was in this closet space and so i decided i was really going to organize and let this full space. Be a place that i could be proud of. And so i needed to take everything out and reorganize and actually pull everything out including the shelving that was in this 'cause at and so you'll see the excitement of making. It ran new from pulling out everything to painting the inside closet area to picking out all of the shelving and installing it. I had some amazing help. Which i'm gonna lead her. Share some details on so that i could have a complete storage solution that would really in essence be facing me while i was working so it needed to be pleasant. It needed to be a place that i could celebrate. Even if it was going to be something that i would see with my own eyes. And so that is what i was able to achieve by working on the closet and being strategic about the shelving that'd be placed in the closet and then all the things all the things that we amass time from all of our tools and gadgets and crafts i was able to organize in a pretty way on display tucked away in this closet. You'll also see that. I bought special rods. Which we're gonna get to now. In number seven. The areas hair included the curtains. There is a curtain to curtain panels. That allow me to cover. You can still see through the beautiful design on the other end of the closet. But it's a covering that's their chose instead of having a door utilizing cartons so cartons carpet rug. That would be the next thing. I would order and the curtain rods and ties. Those are all under number seven. That would be the areas. I would concentrate on. So i got the curtains for the window and the closet. The carpet rug for the entire room to pull all of my color scheme designed together the curtain rods for the detailing that would be gems and crystal light colors to go with all of the radiant pearl things that would also be in the room and the fend layer. Which you'll see there as my last edition and the ties which were pearls. And you'll see that even on both edges. That are tie backs as well as the hulks for my curtains and the curtains. Yes i went above and beyond. They have pearls on them as well. The ones on the window is a share white and then it has the pearls along with. The thai box is a rose gold curtain rod with pearl in the end so i was very strategic in the items that i wanted to really pull out the idea of that sanctuary in sacred space that i wanted to create truly as i mentioned earlier a dream now i must admit amazon makes it super easy when exploring where to.

For years, scientists have been struggling with mapping the three dimensional shapes of proteins that are responsible for all diseases from cancer to covet these machines of proteins, and they underpin every biological process in every living thing. Each protein has an intricate three d shape that defines what it does and how it works way no of over 200 million proteins and counting. But we only know the exact three d shapes of a fraction of these. So if your vertical and moving around your proteins are working right proteins are the little machines in our body that the power everything they also power disease of diseases are built approaching sous well, so Google's deepmind claims to Have created an artificial intelligence program called Alfa Fold. It's able to map the three d structure of these proteins in a matter of days. This next sound was from Google's Deepmind podcast a few months ago. If we do achieve this, the says incredible medical relevance. The implications are immense. From how diseases progress how you can discover new drugs. It's endless. So there's like millions and millions millions of proteins, and they've only been able to map Maybe, like a dozen of them. So you know, I think you were telling me earlier. There's all shape a little differently. Yeah, If you think of if you think of the protein engine like a string of pearls right in each Pearl is an amino acid and you throw that necklace in a jewelry box, and it created folds on itself and create some kind of tangled shape. That's a protein that's protein, and so they have to figure out what the three D shape of that is. And once they do that it unlocks all kinds of possibilities. They can figure out how to use it, how to exploit it. Out of cure disease essentially so less than 24. Hours ago, the team a deep mine announced they had done this. They've been able to do this. What took years to crack the code on one protein? Now just take days. Amazing with this artificially intelligent program. It's a stunning advance. Has occurred decades before many people in the field thought it would Dennis Dennis Hassabis. He is the CEO and founder of Deep Mind the Google Deepmind, and he says, it's just impossible to predict where this kind of technology is going to take us. But I always think about that when I'm taking a transatlantic flight about how have we Without monkey brains managed to come up with these types of technologies. It's unbelievable 100, ton of metal flying through the sky above the clouds. So reliably. And so if you think about that, then if we now build something by a giant and enhance our own capabilities with this amazing tool, then I feel like almost anything might be possible. So not on Lee Health implications for protein mapping. But protein mapping will also help us develop enzymes to break down pollution in the environment. He could help us clean up our environment or keep it clean host of other problems that could be solved. Much more quickly because we now have the capability to three d map proteins at a much more rapid pace. I just thought he put this in perspective so well that how is it that we're with our monkey brains? We couldn't even have this concept of flying in airplanes. Right? And I thought you put it perfectly to. We talked a little bit about this while ago Um, you know, went when cavemen were running around on this planet they could never have envisioned Manhattan. No, you know, no. It would have been, like blown their mind. College Basketballs Uncertain Return to the Court

"I on thursday. Tupper beat six rate. Kansas ninety awesome performance and then on friday afternoon mark to the gonzaga coach. Confirm that the zags beat auburn on friday morning. Nine hundred sixty seven after a player believed to be julian straw. They're tested positive for covid. Nineteen so norlander. We're gonna get into next credible opening week on the court second. But let's start here where you surprise in an auburn still played on friday after a gonzaga player test positive. I was surprised because my opinion is that if other teams and i'm not saying all other teams but many other teams were in that situation. The game would not have been played in my opinion. If gonzaga ran into the issues it ran into and it was playing in belleville. gonzaga would not have played. It's game on friday. Gonzaga might not have even played a game against kansas or fill in the other opponent again. If you put it in. And i'm i'm speaking from what i'm seeing here and the protocols and everything that goes into place to even holding this in the state of connecticut okay. Gonzaga had a member of its travel party test positive on thursday gonzaga took two different planes to the event specific and has taken two different buses. It's it's doing specifically to guard against this. But obviously there is no full on guarding against this so we played kansas. And we'll get but then you know at least one player as positive another believed to be The players roommate is kept out as a precautionary reason. And the game goes off because and you can speak to a gp. Frankly we'll we'll get to virginia san francisco the minute but i was i was. I was watching that game. So i didn't hear fuse press conference. I've seen some of what he said. They're the relying on the florida health officials as being the ones that were to clear it and the health officials down there made that determination and it might wind up that that determination is going to be okay in the end. But i've received four text messages from coaches to heads to assistance. All of them basically asking why in the hell is gonzaga in auburn. Being allowed to play right now one of them saying if this was us there is no shot in hell that we would have been able to play and so this this is certainly captured. A little bit of attention around the college basketball world understandably so gonzaga's looked awesome. But you can make an easy argument that it that it should not have a have played the game. What are your thoughts. And then what can you share for the listeners. That might not have seen a about what few said in his postgame. Zoom press conference. Okay so mark was clearly asked about it and he said he kept it very simple. He's did we followed turns guidelines not we tournament guidelines were were in place and established. We had this positive test. And then we follow the guidelines and then the florida health officials came in and they contact tracing how they contact tracing. They told us we were okay. We were cleared to play and we play. He kept it. He didn't really expand anymore than that but listen. They didn't do anything illegal. They possibly did something irresponsible but didn't do anything illegal. They didn't act in defiance of the tournament or florida. Health officials noted that florida as a state hasn't taken covid nineteen that seriously to begin with. So what florida. Health officials were okay. Where quite clearly would be the same thing that said california. Health officials are okay. Wis lucky if they wanted to play the game. They're lucky they were in florida as opposed to to somewhere else. And you're exactly right. It's bubble ville or in south dakota. I don't believe this game would have been played. Wichita state got sent home from south dakota because they had maybe a couple of people in the travel and party test positive. They were like okay. Get outta here. You're not playing today. you're not playing tomorrow. you're not playing it off. So i don't know that this game would have been played if it were a tournament. Where you're at or in south dakota but because this was sort of a thing they put together in fort myers as long. Auburn was cool to play and gonzaga wanted to play. they were allowed to pluck. I though was surprised that the game went off. Because i mean we've seen baseball teams. Get shut down over one positive test during the major league baseball season the world series if it would have if the dodgers did not win the game justin turner had to be removed because they got a positive test back of the game so they take justin turner around. They complete that game. The understanding was that game. Seven of the world series would not have been the following night. They would not have played until everybody can test test test for a few days and they make sure it's safe to play and so yes. I was surprised that they played the game. And hopefully nothing comes from it that it doesn't end up being a quote unquote superspreader of it. Because if we an outbreak now at gonzaga because by the way gonzaga tweet video from the locker room after the victory over kansas and they're all celebrating no mask jewish authors in front of mark. Few right in the middle of the celebration. He is believed to be the one who test positive. So hopefully nothing comes of this but if we have a subsequent outbreak at gonzaga or subsequent at auburn gonzaga is going to become the biggest story in college basketball. And it's not going to be a sports story anymore. It won't be because jalen suggs looks. Incredible it'll be because they knew they positive test in their locker room and they played less than twenty four hours putting their players at risk and the auburn players at risk. I hope it doesn't come to that. But if it comes to that this becomes a bigger story than just to college basketball story. It becomes something that's on. Cbs evening news. Yeah we'll wait and see if that does happen. I mean auburn's gotta be you know held equally responsible and all of this because it opted to play the game regardless you know there was no self imposed penalty here. Handed down by bruce pearl. That was not in play on friday and so inherently like. You know the chances. Go up that you're going to potentially be infected. We don't know but it's clearly out there. I mean there are. There are no shortage of schools and athletic directors coaches. Just straight up would not play the game. So we'll wait arizona. State would not play baylor because the baylor coach tested positive. Not even a player who was who was gonna who was on the court with other players twenty four hours earlier right and that came from that even came from above. Bobby's hurley's bobby hurley's had which is the case in a lot of these instances but frankly what gonzaga auburn decided to do it. Just flies in the face of convention in college sports in professional sports that we've seen and we'll will you know we're recording this on friday afternoon. We'll wait and see what's going to happen here. Gonzaga's got some high profile games ahead and we're really enough one of them's blade baylor like if there's if there's one team that's actually going to be good with this like it's baylor. They might just play the game regardless. But we'll wait and see if either of these teams are now forced because if it gets another positive one after that like they have no choice. They're going to have to shut down for two weeks and then ask themselves if playing against auburn was really worth it you know. Was it worth it. Because now you're gonna lose these other games

Growing a String-of-Pearls Plant

"We're going to talk about a very hot house plant. There are trends in house plants. Last year was monster. It's probably still monster but one plant. That's super popular right now and i'm going to try really hard to pronounce this correctly but whatever i do i'm going to do it with conviction it's curio rally anise used to be called scenario rally ennis. And it's known as string of pearls or bead plant and this is in every magazine photo of an indoor garden. Everybody's crazy about this plant right now. Are you crazy about this plant sale. Well it it's funny. Because i recently did buy one i few years ago had a big rain chain out in my porch and i planted all of the cups in the rain. Chain with succulents. That's fantastic. I love the and and the top one i planted with this curio. The string of pearls so that they dangled down and over the edges. But it's funny that now it's kind of hard plant to find. I know at my garden center. They have a hard time finding growers. Who are growing this plant. So i just want to caution people because it suddenly you know what used to be a grandma plant that your grandmother had in her window and every time she wanted to give you some. You're older you're is right now. It is a hothouse plant. That people want partly. Because i mean that's pretty unusual to have a plant that instead of foliage has little green round beads. Right it's it's a cool looking plant. I'll give you that. It's a cool. It's a cool looking plant. It's also an easy plant for people who tend to not water. Their plants often enough and in fact the way that you can go wrong with this plant is by giving it too much water but as with most succulents you also need to have adequate light so waterboarding it in a room with no windows is not gonna be good for this plant. Either you need to have it in a window and probably not a north facing. It'll it'll survive in north facing window. But you'll notice longer pieces of stem between the little green balls and it won't be quite as luscious looking as it was when you bought it at the garden center. It's funny because you almost always see these in hanging pots. The cascade down or up on a pedestal so that they can cascade down so i thought to myself. How does this plant grow in nature right you. Can you can picture some of the Epa films all living in trees. And i thought is is a plant that lives in trees but it turns out. No it is not. This is a plant that is native to africa where it grows is a ground cover and this gives you a clue if you cannot find this plant somewhere but you have a friend who has it. Think about how it grows in nature. I know we say that all the time but it's a really good thing to do that. Plant the stems grow along the ground and where it makes contact with the ground it sends out roots and that indicates or should indicate to you that it will not be difficult to route a cutting of this plant. So if you want it and you can't find it and you have a generous friend. Maybe they'll give you a piece. I have never seen one actually bloom indoors. I'm sure that it could if you had a really bright window or greenhouse. But i have to say those flowers are so cool looking and this is also really weird. I know they kind of remind me of the corona virus because there they're white and they're round and they have these read statements that stick out all around the flower. So if you google it like the flower of string of pearls. You're going to see one of those things that looks like a depiction of the corona virus. But don't let that stop you from growing this plant please

COVID-19 cases surge across US

COVID-19 cases surge across US

"That. Let's talk about the latest on these numbers and the surge across the country as we bring in Wi OD National Court. Spawned that Michael Bauer. You could follow him on Twitter at the Bower show. Good morning, Michael. Good morning, Maddie. Yeah, I hadn't thought about the making fun of Dr Fauci part, but I definitely member the Pearl clutching that one time when we crested that 100,000 Day mark, and now we have added a million cases just over the past week alone. And if you do the math on that, just 13 days of over 100,000 new cases a day will simply add that up very easily. So that's where we are. Yesterday. We crested 133,000 new coronavirus cases. We're now up to 11/11 million cases in this country and that last million coming over the past week. This is an alarming acceleration and spread. Yeah, we're seeing I mean, look, it's the spread is everywhere. It's not you have used to be. We go. Hey, Manny, where the hot spots in this country? No, no, The country is the hot spot. Yeah, There's no question about it. You're starting to see some. Even North Dakota, whose governor, throughout this entire thing has refused to order mass mandate has now ordered a mask mandate. Ask people to wear the mask everywhere indoors and you're certain you're starting to see other restrictions. The city of Chicago, the state Of Michigan and elsewhere because it is literally spreading uncontrollably and much of the country. You got 70,000 people in U. S hospitals being treated for severe cases of covert 19 Let that sink in 70,000 people in U. S hospitals being treated. That's more than we've ever had going back even to win. This thing kicked off in March more so when we had that when we had the Sunbelt States infections That's the kind of numbers we're looking at here. The overwhelming hospitals is going on right now, right under our noses. We're trying to figure out who the next president is going to be or what the lawsuit that the president has filed is going to look like There are overwhelming hospital bed scenes. There are numbers of in some cases hospital losing 30% of their staff to Cove It like literally having them either have to quarantine or they're in ICU right now. Not doing well because they have caught Cove in 19 those of the kinds of overwhelming numbers we're looking about, and that's the key here. 38 different states reporting more than 1000 new cases on Saturday. And this surge is deadly. That's the big thing here. We haven't seen those death numbers climb just yet. But that's not the way the pacing works. Pacing goes infection than you have hospitalizations. Then you have the death numbers coming through and we're hearing Zero from the federal government. We're hearing zero from the coronavirus task force that President Trump set up. We're hearing it's been five months or more. Since President Trump has been a part of any of those meetings, which is why Michigan Washington The state of Washington, laid out a slew of new rules prohibiting indoor social gatherings and dining. We're seeing that in places like New York, Connecticut, Minnesota and New Jersey. They've all got curfews and play. New Mexico banned in person services for non essential workers. Maryland ordered restaurants to reduce indoor dining by 50% in Oregon is just saying we're cutting out restaurant dining altogether. We're putting it on pause with all of this. That's because we're not hearing anything, and the country is looking at this states are looking at this watching their numbers grown going. We've got to do something, and we're hearing absolutely nothing on the higher level right now. Yeah, yeah. I mean, it seemed like a lifetime ago that President Trump said that he declared himself a wartime president because the country was at war against this virus. I guess he got tired of because he hasn't met with his generals or anybody else. You also remember a lot of people saying this whole thing this this pandemic this corona virus thing on November 4th. It was going to be over the media wasn't going to talk about it anymore. It wasn't going to exist. Nobody was going to get sick. Turns out that wasn't true, either. Well, and there was a part of that. That seems like a pretty self fulfilling prophecy from President Trump like and on November 4. They're going to stop talking about it because all we're gonna talk about it in the election because all we're going to care about is what states did somebody win and where the lawsuits coming from, So I guess, theoretically, that's true. And while that's all happening The numbers are growing exponentially, and that the health experts are very concerned that Dr Fauci said yesterday that when you start to look at what's going on here, the fact that President elect Joe Biden's transition team is not getting any information on national security or coronavirus cases. We're gonna have a massive gap here before anything gets an opportunity. To be done even before you get to look at a possible vaccine being on the market on some level those air very large cases that could become overwhelming. We could get up to 200,000 cases a day 250. What's the number? That's going to shock Americans into thinking they should wear masks and socially distance Because so far the policy of play has been. Hey, we trust the American people to do what they need to do. If they feel that they need to be safe and wear a mask, they'll do it. How's that working out for us? That's not going particularly well right now. So until something comes from the higher ups and work its way down, and then works in unison with what states are seeing because of tests, and they're seeing a rise in positivity here, there where they can kind of shut down little areas of the state and go into quarantine. That's when we get control over it. Right now. We are so far from control that the light from control take 10,000 years to reach in, and you're starting to see where we're going backwards. I mean that you're starting to see now what is that? Wal Mart is now star. Eating the count customers coming into their stores. That's a national mandate like company. Now you're seeing other stores, Costco has changed their mass policy. Everyone has. First of all. Costco had this policy that if you had health problems, you could wear a face shield. It's been proven that there's no health problem that would preclude you from wearing a mask. To begin with. It's a good 117 days now, since World Health Organization declared this thing a pandemic. You remember that second Thursday in March? We're all of a sudden you walked into the grocery store. There's no toilet paper. There's no lice off 117 days we've been dealing with and every single expert tells us you know we can control this. If we just do the little things where the mass wash your hands stay socially mistaken 1170.2 countries that have done exactly that that have seen that taken control and in the meantime, we're in 36 states now that have mandated the wearing a face masks in public. That should and probably will grow. But what's going to have to happen between then and now? That's the big question. And what is something like if you've got 36, which is clearly the majority of states that are calling for that mask mandate? What happened if you had the whole country in the masked man it What would that theoretically do to us other than possibly slow this thing down a little bit? Keep the economy like that's it? Yeah. Michael, I was a pleasure. We will talk tomorrow morning, sir. You gotta stay safe.

The first stop we will make on the journey. Today is experience. It really is the best teacher. My Vision Twenty twenty. What is there to say about vision better yet? What comes to mind when you hear the Word Vision Twenty Twenty? We made so much out of entering into a new decayed, and looking back over all the things accomplished over the last decayed before looking towards a new decayed. To say, the beginning of this new decayed has been interesting is to say the least I for one have looked at this year twenty twenty as a year that has given much pause to think. I was on a path and course that is completely different from where I am currently headed now just because we were all forced to stop and think. As we are midway through the seventh month and have already passed the year's mid Hump as a visionary. I had to evaluate re evaluate and ponder my plans, vision and goals moving forward into another season. I think in terms of seasons because I know seasons change, and with seasons come new possibilities in new opportunities currently. I am working towards just that new possibilities. New Opportunities are in the works, and if you've been following me for any period of time, you'll know there's always something in the corner to share I love taking each of you along on the journey to show you that the sky really is the limit and the possibilities are endless. Although the possibilities are endless, you must have a vision a plan in place and a way to see what it is you want before you take actionable steps to get fair. It begins with clarifying and getting to the heart of what it is. You really want and taking time each day to look at the path before you and see if the path you're on, will help you get there. If you keep your vision in the forefront of your mind, thoughts and plans. You are rioting out each day week month and year then you are taking the necessary first step to do your part. Next comes simple small steps. You can take to see that overall vision fulfilled. As a believer, I understand the power of believing, it will come to pass if I do not give up or grow weary. Let's explore the importance of encounters along on your vision journey. It's strange to think that just a few months ago, I was so busy over the holidays into the New Year answering the call to sing, speak and go from set to set with the excitement of networking with entertainment creators and film industry professionals all while building my online business and clientele base to have the complete freedom to wholeheartedly serve no matter where God decides. Take me on my family. Alaska. All that excitement would have to come to a pause due to the pandemic, and although I am looking forward to sharing more stories with you as you get to know some of my radio gifted sisters. I got to connect with an a deeper level as we worked some money. Filming Projects I recognize. That was only a small part of the big picture plan. God had for my life. Do you look at all the beaten path encounters as a waste of time or divine appointments for what God wants to bring about in your life. I do not believe it is a coincidence. You are listening to this podcast today, and if you are reading the blog, reading this particular blog today. This message is for you to consider. Mull over and ingrained in your heart. That God does not make mistakes while you will encounter stumbling blocks and distractions that can take you off the path. You need to be on for the season. You are in and the place you envision is for you in your future, it can all be used for your good as stepping stones towards greater. If you're like me. You can't help but think of the next big thing to conquer the next big step to take to get you closer to realizing dreams God has placed inside if you. Listen and recognize. There is only so much you can do and the rest you need to leave in the Lord's hands. So, what can you do today? Take out your notebook and begin to. What you want to see, come true over the course of the next year. And what steps you can take right now today to prepare for tomorrow. Begin with a plan..

On the moment I see that I need to empower I need to enlighten ninety to inspire than that lives up desire for me to work, and so my passion is making choices in making decisions. DOC will create that masterpiece in me. That will help me to work. It pushes me to do the things that I don't even think I was capable you because you have a passion, so you're GONNA. Go after that and there's one thing I realize on your journey going to light your world in the vehicle. You're going to find yourself going over some of those blocks in the Lord and some of those potholes, but you have to. To keep going sometimes you're unable to drive your own car, but find that one friend that will help you light that fire light and help you get passion Gaulish, because sometimes we have a passion, but we don't really know how to bring a ball how to work with it on how to get it out there. Will you say to a good friend? And then there and then just getting the help, and that you know push it helps you to go on work on those that you're desiring on I realize to one thing that will paralyse our dreams and desires, and the things that we're passionate about. Is the word fear. Someone Coetzee nicely to save. Me You are just in a position where things are just appearing to be really, but it is not real, and that's the only thing I believe when you're fearful, not going out there and trying new stuff as we mentioned before you know and using your passion going out there and working working. Your passion embracing work. Your fashion, and if you to work, empower others tonight, inspire others. Yes, what you just said your passion. Really we'll put you to work, but he doesn't feel like work. Because it's something that you enjoy doing here. Not only in their lies in the people there call to minister into Tarija, solution for and know to meet that pain point. Only entrepreneurs will leave a nine to five job where they're like. You need to live in what you're saying, and so for me every time a make a declaration upon on my life. Make sure today if I said I'm GONNA do this. I'm going to do it so I myself accountable. Yes announced the decoration. You've got a hold yourself accountable. If you're bringing a friend along to help, push you. Spokane it even to yourself. which is the first person you should be speaking your vision to and your purpose? But then you also put it out there to others so that they can hold you accountable to what use? Do. I love that S. you have to also the believe in Hawaii for other people to believe it to it. You don't have that believe in anyone. No one will actually be competent to believe in what you believe in because you don't believe in it, so who? Actually goes back to what needs to said. You say you care it. Okay, so just a theoretical part. He's saying. But then the real reality is when you gonNA. Start doing well, I'm playing. Yes, you WANNA. Walk in what you say, and then you are going to impact the world because they will see that you're working what you say. You're actually living living out your dream. Whatever it is that you say you're right down your dream, your vision, and then you're to on your your embracing that you working towards it and you're amazing. What is your vision of? That's when I realized not hash and I wanted to be able to provide that for them and also get out of my shell, too, so on for me being selfish. So? That's when I was like. You know what I'm GonNa. Provide that for women out there who also wanted the conservative, but still fashionable instill look Nice in beautiful, because you can definitely don't have to be modest, conservative and. Just in our own skin where beautiful was created in his image, so and after I started the business guides spoke to me and said this is not your business. This is a ministry, and so I've definitely had to take a step back because I was just like my businesses. This is that when it was Scott and gave me the passionate gave me the vision, so he he told me like this. Is Your Ministry ministering through Kobe? In ministering to other women So, that is where passion came in and all the driving them vision came in through that awesome. I love that love. Can you have your pretty much a walking billboard off?
