"Connor Riley returns to the show from dog nation and we said, however, for the first time, I think, since two Sarah Spencer, who covers the dogs for the AJC Sarah great to see you, we see we saw you in the sky all the time. He's always on. Curious, just as you've watched this week unfolds there, what has stood out? Honestly, Conor and I were just talking about this Ohio State's confidence definitely stands out to me coming into this game. I mean, I think there is so done talking about that, Michigan. Oh my God. They're so they're so tired of it. But of course we have to ask about it sometimes. But I think they're confident coming into this game. I think so is Georgia. I think Todd muncan offensive coordinator for Georgia kind of said it best. Both sides have such excellent players. It's going to come down to just execution and playing mistake free. Obviously, that burned Ohio State and not lost to Michigan. Connor, I get their confidence. I'm not sure why they're confident. But unless we're just obsessing over the most glaring mistake that they made all year, and it wasn't just a mistake. It was a meltdown. Right, this is an Ohio state team where we heard all off season from them, hey, we're going to be a physical, tougher team when we play Michigan next year. They made their whole season about that. They do that every year, but this year felt like there was a real emphasis on it. And then they go out and they get so thoroughly outplayed in the second half of that game. You wonder, well, is this team even worthy of being in the college football playoff? I know people made a case for Alabama. You know, if tennesse Clemson don't lose to South Carolina, maybe they get into the college football playoff and this is Ohio State team, yes. They are tremendously talented. Marvin Harrison, junior, in my opinion, the best wide receiver they're going to have played this year. But for him to say, hey, we want to come in. We want to beat Georgia in Atlanta, their home stadium. And we want to play the role of the villain. Teams have come in being confident talking that way against Georgia before. And for a team that hasn't seen Georgia, I'm not necessarily sure that's the way to go about it. Maybe it's just because I covered Georgia. We both do. And we see Georgia so often. And we're so used to just, yeah, we respect our opponent to hear. Maybe not disrespect, but the bravado that Ohio State speaks with. It's interesting and it's absolutely something that I know Georgia has picked up on and will hone in on. Well, let me translate to somebody who just parachuted in here. We're talking about primarily northern football players. In the Big Ten who at a university that is the epicenter of that region and they're not used to being disrespected. So yeah. I don't know how they have the bravado, but good for them. I mean, this is a C team. Yes, they lost to Michigan, but they've been favored in every game this year. They've been favored in every game for the past two years. And so that comes with a certain set of, we're better than every team we know we step on the field with, except that's not the case with this story. No. And they haven't seen this Georgia team. And the last time they saw an SEC team of Georgia's caliber was in the 2020 national title game against Alabama where they got run off the field because they didn't have the athletes to keep up with them. And while this Georgia team isn't necessarily that Alabama team, they haven't played a player as good as Jalen Carter. And I think with the way this Ohio State team is constructed and the way that offense is built, if Jalen Carter is the best player on the field on Saturday, I think all of us expect him to be. I think it's going to be a very long day for this Ohio State offense. And Sarah, Jalen Carter spoke today. This is an unusual event. That's the second time he's ever spoken to media. So I mean, it was really interesting to hear from him. I thought he actually did a really good job talking to media. There were a lot of things he addressed. And you just talked about also the matchup with the buckeyes. I think jaylen Carter is going to be so big in this game for Georgia. Since he really, it was that Tennessee game really that we saw full swing full tilt J one Carter and since then, George is run defense has been excellent. They've been so good at stopping the run. And I think Georgia's secondary at times we've seen them have games where they've struggled. And I think that's going to be a big matchup to watch in this game. 'cause now you're up against the number two scoring offense in the country. And I think it's going to be CJ Stroud, Marvin Harrison, junior, that group of receivers against Georgia secondary. I think that's a big matchup to watch. And counter refreshment on memory. He was hurt at one point, wasn't he? So that's why we didn't see a lot of it. Essentially, the first half of the season hurts his ankle against Oregon and then he has a knee injury against Missouri that actually sidelined him for two full games, but as Sarah just pointed out, since he came back, starting with the Florida game, the Tennessee gave me really announced himself to everyone. And since then, he's been so dominant in a way that George has had a lot of great players in recent years. Jordan Davis, Trayvon walker, and Kobe dean, I struggled to recall a guy who was more so obviously dominant in what he does and such a game record than Jalen Carter. He's made play after play in his career. And as hard as it is to believe for a guy who some have said was the best player on last year's national title team, is playing the best football of his career as obviously he is transcending to be a first round top 5 NFL Draft pick, but tying this back to Ohio State, CJ drives a phenomenal player. Marvin Harrison Paris Johnson, those guys are all going to be top 15 NFL Draft picks. But from the Big Ten, there's a huge difference from what Georgia is doing. There's an extra level of physicality and actual level of speed that quite frankly, I don't think Michigan has. And Michigan really, I think gummed up that Ohio State offense in the second half. And I would expect something similar on Saturday from Georgia. And by the way, the thing we're seeing with jaylin Carter, it's been predicted. Since he was born, practically. Everyone knew he was going to be great. That was one of the most fun parts of today for me.

"I get that, but if you're Josh hyper, what better of a stage to showcase your offense than on in an orange bowl in a new year 6 bowl and South Florida where all the recruits are. I think that is going to be a tremendous game. I think for both parties, for both head coaches, you can use that as a jumping off point to the 2023 season in a variety of different ways because let's talk about Clemson. High as my trophy, but also it's a team that was in the national championship hunt into rivalry weekend. So it's not like they were a non factor this year. So I can't wait for that orange bowl. I think it's gonna be fun. Yeah, no, I agree. It's a really impressive game. On the other hand, Saturday morning, you know, Alabama and Kansas state. And we were talking to Alex Scarborough a minute ago about Bryce young playing the game, which I mean, we're not sitting here cheering him. I'm glad he's his decision, but the question is, why? Well, I think it's a good showing for him and for that program because they're not used to being in this position, right? They're not used to being in a position where it doesn't really matter. So I think that sets the tone for the other guys on the team, the younger guys on the roster, even the prospects coming in, whether it be high schoolers or guys in the transfer portal, I think they have not said this, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if Bryce young went in for a series. He came out, everyone gave him a round of applause, same thing with will Anderson. And then they used it as a spring game on steroids. And if that's the case, fine. But I think for Alabama, it's more about setting the tone. It's more about setting the younger guys up for success. And for will Anderson and for Bryce young, sticking around, I think, does that it accomplishes that. The main goal that they had in this game has already been accomplished. And I'm really fascinated to see if they do pull Bryce and will Anderson, how do they use Simpson? How do they use mill row? How did they use some of the younger guys because in these bowl games now, we saw in the NCAA statement where they're going to grant, they're not going to count this towards red shirting. I think that is allowing a team like Alabama to really use this as a jumping off point for next season because of an Alabama because they don't have any opt outs, but for a lot of teams they do. And they need to see those younger guys. And so I'm excited to see what those guys can do because I don't think that will Anderson and Bryce young are going to play the whole game. I think we saw in that game, what was it, two, three years ago, Deandre swift for Georgia had a couple of cursory runs and then was like, all right, I'm out. I'm going to be a cheerleader. And it's easy for those of us who are adults, some a little more adult than others. In my case, but I mean, these guys are they played at Alabama for three years. This is a, they're moving on. There's something to be said for one last hurrah in New Orleans, on a reasonably big stage. Just to kind of go down there. I mean, assuming they don't play the whole game, they do, then they went down there to play. Make a cameo. And if they play the whole game, if that's what they want to do, fine. I think here's the thing. It's much more likely that you get hurt in practice than an actual, right? So the idea that they're going to go out and get hurt, you know, that they're putting themselves at risk, they've got insurance, right? And then B, if you're going to practice, if you're doing non contact drills while you're preparing for the draft, you still might get hurt. So I think that that part of its overrated a little bit, the worry, the concern about being injured is overrated a little bit. But I think either way, whatever they decide to do, whether it's play a whole game or just have a cameo appearance, they've set the tone for the younger guys, which I think is something that speaks very highly of Nick Saban because, like I said, he's never been in this position before and to have his stars say that they're going to come back, play a bowl game and actually do that. The younger kids are going to take notice. And by the way, this is not a new concept that I'm bringing up here, but the idea that we debated players deciding to play in the sugar bowl it's still hard to get used to and we're years into this now. It used to matter. And the sugar bowl still does. I mean, go ask Kansas state players. You think that game doesn't matter. That matters to them in it. For bowl games, it depends on the situation, obviously. But yeah, I mean, we're old enough to remember when it actually meant something to go to the sugar bowl. Even if it was a noon sugar bowl, 11 a.m. central time, which is not super weird. Finally here, there's where are we? We're in Georgia. There's so many narratives. Most of them are false. What is your sense about what we're about to see here? I'm most fascinated to see what Ohio State secondary does. Because last time we saw them, they got embarrassed by JJ McCarthy. That's not something that should happen, and it's not something that I think they're content with. And I think that talking to the players and coaches around here today, it really angered them. And I think I asked Kirby smart about this too. He said it was more a situational thing where they tried to take some risks and they didn't work out in the game got sideways. Which happens, right? That's going to happen. But that's what I'm looking at the most. What happens when Georgia has the ball? Can they stretch the field against this Ohio State secondary? And I think it's a unique challenge because you look at Georgia, Brock Bauer's leading receiver tight end. Second leading receiver's lad mcconkey, and then the third leading receiver is a running back and Kenny mcintosh and I assume Knowles about that today. And he said, look, we have never had a challenge like this.

"As I ask you that question, I'm wondering, what is left to do in college athletics, now that we have the playoffs? Well, that's the thing. There's a lot of hay in the barn for the near term future, right? We've got major media rights deals that are all but done the PAC 12s is going to be announced soon, you know, sometime here in 2023. And there's going to be a little bit of, I think, a cessation. They're except. The expansion piece. And there's some question, you know, did Kevin Warren want more teams and Fox and the Big Ten presidents said, um, we're not that interested. You know, what exactly was the push and pull there? We're not quite sure. But that's the other thing that's hanging out there is expansion slash realignment still an ongoing dynamic or have we calmed the waters enough that nothing's going to happen. You know, we're pretty sure Notre-Dame isn't going anywhere. And they're the first lever beyond that. You get to then a Washington Oregon scenario, but, you know, the Big Ten if they wanted them, probably could have already had them, and they so far don't look like they do. So I think from a commissioner standpoint, there's not a lot of heavy lifting to do at this moment. Stray questions unrelated to anything. Before we go, just to the sense leading into this weekend Seth, everybody has their scenario, is there, I asked you about the Kirby smart question, but what is the sense being around this Georgia team? It's a sense that they're just marching toward another title or is there reason to start making things up? I don't think there's that kind of overconfidence. I think I keep wondering that building they've already won two games resoundingly. They've done more than I expected them to do this year. And I don't know if it's more than they expected to do. You wonder when the complacency might hit. It hit them in Missouri. They recovered. They were able to overcome it. Against Ohio State, they would lose if they play that way. But Ohio State gets your attention. Like game recognizes game. What does Georgia do best? Among other things, recruits. What is the one non SEC program that recruits the best? Ohio State. I would think that that has gotten their attention this month and when Saturday rolls around and you see those Buckeye helmets on the other side that George is going to be up for it. Before we go, I'd be remiss if I didn't ask you, you live in Louisville. I'm not supposed to be keeping track of basketball games as intensely as I was last night, but Kentucky, who has been struggling all year after the debacle last year in the NCAA, just drops a disastrous performance at Missouri against a new coach, doubled it was almost a 20 point game late. I mean, what are your Friends back in the Commonwealth saying today? Oh, it's an angry steak. It's a very angry state. I mean, Kentucky's playing Louisville Saturday, Paul, and it's going to be like the most bitter glum matchup in the history of that rivalry because Louisville is terrible and Kentucky is better, but still very disappointing, extremely disappointing. And that was a really bad performance. As you said, Dennis Gates is just getting going at Missouri. He's doing a good job, but, you know, that's a startup and Kentucky is supposed to be, you know, Microsoft operating up here. And this team, a lot was expected of it, and so far, I'm not even sure they're an NCAA tournament team at this point. You know, they have maybe one quality win. They are one in four road neutral and they've had just some really bad performances. They don't gel well together. They're offensively. They look lost. They don't look like they have a plan. John calipari is catching unprecedented heat. There's a lot of people that are over John calipari in the state of Kentucky. Mark Mark Steve has been commented yet. He is not to my knowledge, but this will be a bad time for Cal to go back and play the world basketball school. That's being proven to be incorrect every time we see them play. Guys, Seth, pat. Great to see both of you two of the premier writers in America joining us here. We have a lot more to do and we're just getting started as we work our way through the first hour live in Atlanta. The right time. With bomani Jones. The Jets have a quarterback problem. Right from like for real legitimate contention. They are a quarterback away. They have taken two quarterbacks. "Lowe, Tatum. I think at worst he's third in MVP right now. He's playing defense at a borderline all defense level. He's too young for these conversations to really start in earnest. If he's a Celtic for life or most of his career, he has a chance to be historically for the one of the two historic giants in the league as great as any player who's ever worn that uniform, including birds. Atlanta, the college football Hall of Fame, that's what it looks like outside and considering we've done almost as many shows here as we do in studio, we know the road in here. In Atlanta and we're joined by Seth Emerson, the outstanding writer from the athletic and pat 40 from SI, of course. Seth has been covering this beat in some form or fashion for a long time. We just saw stetson Bennett. I mentioned he looks like, what does he look like to you? He doesn't look like he's really excited. He almost looks haggard by all the media. He's had to do, going up to New York and doing that gauntlet and the gauntlet here, but he actually has always looked that way. That's just kind of his natural state and it's served him well. It has served him well. You just read your piece that just came out about this Georgia team and there's a lot to like and you pointed it out in quite skillful manner. Your impression that you've seen them before quite a bit this year, but now you're getting a good dose. Yeah, this year last year really it's been a continuation. I wrote about how beautifully brutal they are. I mean, they are nasty. They hit hard, they're huge. They enjoy the physical part of football. You know, I think the changes that have been made to make football safer have obviously been good things, but there's still an element where the biggest meanest team often wins and that's Georgia. And most people in our business are predicting Georgia. The line still fairly narrow for an overwhelming sense that they're going to win this game. I'm not asking you to create something out of thin air, but what would make you uncomfortable if your Kirby smart going to bed tomorrow night? The receivers. That may be the one area that I hesitate to even say it's a huge advantage for Ohio State because that makes it sound like we're sliding Georgia's secondary, which obviously shut down with the help of Jalen Carter in the pass rush Tennessee's receivers. But those receivers are so good for a house state. That in today's college football, that could be enough. Now, there's other things happening on the field. Ken Ohio State run the ball. Probably not. How much pressure is CJ Stroud going to be under? And will we respond to it? What happens on the other side of the ball, but it kind of goes back to what did you hear from Alabama callers during the off season? Well, if mechi and Williams hadn't gotten hurt, Alabama only won. Well, there's two receivers probably as good as meshi and Williams, who are at this point healthy about to go against Georgia. And one who did get hurt, but we're struggling to even remember his name, although thank goodness we don't have to say it. We're talking about a number of things here, but I do want to talk about what has been the story of the day in college, and that is the story. That is the report out, and now it's been, I don't know if it's been confirmed or not. But Kevin Warren has been linked to the presidency, not of the United States, but something far more important. The presidency of the Chicago Bears. Some would say, why would you do that? But he spent most of his career path in the NFL coming to college from the Minnesota Vikings. What do you make out of not only the story, but the statement that has just been issued, which I'm still trying to figure out what it means. Yeah, I'm not sure what it means other than to basically acknowledge that, yes, he's a candidate for the job. But it's interesting like Kevin Warren's whole Big Ten tenure has kind of been marked by bad timing. He got the job and COVID hit and he was in rocky terrain going through that for a year and trying to navigate a way through that. Look for a while like he might get run out of the job. And he rallied gets through that. They get this great meteorites deal. And things are looking good. And now you've got two teams in the playoff this week and this story breaks. And so it's, again, very awkward timing. You know, there's a couple of things at play here, Paul. One, yet, you know, is his heart really in being the Big Ten commissioner, long-term, or does he want to get back to the NFL? The opportunity with the bears, they're looking to build a stadium. He helped build the Viking stadium, so his expertise would fit there. And then purely, you know, did he feel like he did enough work there in terms of getting that meteorites deal? And he's waiting for a contract extension that has not been offered. Does that mean he wouldn't get one? I don't know, is he trying to push the pedal on that? Or is he really trying to leave? We'll see. Are we talking about Jimmy Sexton client or the commissioner of the Big Ten? What in the same? And I don't know how important these positions are anymore. I mean, we talk about Greg sankey and Kevin Warren, because they do seemingly run college athletics. I've already forgotten the name of the governor from Massachusetts, who's now going to be the NCAA president. Mitt Romney? I think so. Dukakis. He's still around. He was available. Why didn't they? I mean, this is where the power is. Seth, I mean, does it really matter who the commissioner of these leagues are anymore? We were talking off there. I think this would be an interesting time to go because like you said, the meteorites deal is done, the expansion is presumably done. The Big Ten presidents to things kind of run itself. It's interesting to look at in the context of the SEC because that's obviously been a rivalry for a while. I'm not sure that Kevin Warren and Greg sankey go on vacations together. I don't think they do. So he's probably interested in how that goes. Greg sankey, I don't think he's going anywhere for a little bit, 'cause he's still got some business to attend to. Yeah, and these are jobs that do matter because their big personalities pad and I think we saw in sankey's case how one commissioner bungled his way through COVID and the other one listened to people who actually know what they're doing. But there's a lot still at stake, I think.

"You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. A live in Atlanta. Centennial park across the street, a lot of activity here on a Thursday, most people still sightseeing, getting ready for the weekend. There is a little bit of news out today and we'll talk about it with some of our guests here in a moment. There ESPN's reporting that Kevin Warren, the Big Ten commissioner has interviewed to become the next president of the Chicago Bears. He was president of the Minnesota Vikings. It would be a big story after Warren has had a very difficult beginning. Remember canceling the games during COVID and but followed that up with the entrance of USC and UCLA in that monstrous contract that went along with that. Let's get to the calls here at 855-242-7285. We have a lot of guests, but we will have time for you as well. On the phones and we begin with Chad in Baton Rouge. Hey, Chad. Hey, Paul, how's it going, man? Hey. We're doing this game last night. As much as I could take, as much as you could take. I'm curious, I gotta be small and I'm just wondering why lane kissing lane kiffin still has a job. I mean, he put his team so far in the hole. Can you spell special team? Does he know what that is? I mean, I think the team gave up on him because the coaching. I mean, it was horrible. I mean, put the ball. So let's think about this for a second. Lane kiffin was offered, of course, the auburn job nearly took it. He lost his final four games and 5 of the last 6. And all miss fought to keep him is now paying him $9 million a year. Is that correct? I just want to make sure. Okay, I didn't want to miss anything. It's amazing. What is the man doing so career? He's got one championship under his belt and that's because of Nick Saban. And he actually costs Alabama a game. What was he getting against Michigan? Was it championship a few years ago, the first one they went to Elaine? It was Ohio State. In the fourth quarter, Alabama. Yeah, that was not that was not the best game plan I've ever seen from lane kiffin. So I mean, first of all, nobody's firing lane kiffin. I don't even think the ink shrine was contract. It's left up to me. He wouldn't flew home with a team. Good thing you're not good thing you're not the pilot for the almost. That's right. John is up next in Louisville. Hey John. Hey, great opening segment. Who knew that you once said ear piercings and like fruity smoothies, right? Yeah. You know, when Laura, you always learn something about yourself, that's not true, but it's always entertaining. And I think I see some germs on your right shoulder just you want to brush that off. Yeah, I could have I could have done without that story, John. Hey, I'm going to talk about the CSP, but real quickly on the archbishop's visit, when I was in Nevada can standing in line with my daughter, I mentioned archbishop Marino. And I said, we should ask for him. And he said, why, what would just tell him we know Paul feine bomb and she said, nobody in Italy knows Paul pine bob. But she did. She said a Swiss guides are going to come over and walk us out, in fact. But she did listen to the hour and by full disclosure, I grew up in a Catholic family from Philly would appreciate this, but my uncle was a bit sentient priest and my aunt was sister charity and the flying hat. So I really, really do appreciate the archbishop. And my daughter listened to him with impressed, but I said, what did you get out of it? And she said, well, legend was mentioned. Yeah, I mean, with all due respect to. The honorable his excellency, archbishop Marino, I don't know, I know Pope Pope Francis has been very busy lately. Praying for Pope Benedict. Benedict and I'm afraid that when the word gets to the Holy See that archbishop merino quoted legend, I think he's being, I think he'll be called in for an audience, don't you? That's my daughter said, that's why it's only allowed one hour once a year to talk with the centers. And then can you imagine when you get in there, I'm just making this up as I go along, but Pope Francis says to archbishop Marino, that legend you mentioned. That's the guy in the fine bomb show, right? Yeah. Hey Paula, let's talk see if he real quick, get your thoughts. And by the way, I appreciate that you're up in New York looking at the east river. This past holiday. But I'm tired of the excuses from Ohio State. They're fired up their motivate. They are never more fired up or motivated than to play Michigan. So I think they're going to lose by the same score they did to Michigan 45 to 23. No excuses. They've got a plethora of running backs and wide receivers. But they got totally beaten the second half as you said 28 to three in scoring. Now on the I agree with you on that. I don't know how you I mean, they spent the entire year

Notre Dame Lands Marcus Freeman At Defensive Coordinator

"Just ended the last hour talking about the reports. That bo pollini is going to get four. Four million dollar lump sum payoff to to after being fired as the defensive coordinator and there's been a lot of speculation and even some reports that the That lsu was on the verge of hiring. Marcus freeman from the university of cincinnati. But pizza animal has just reported that he is going to notre dame instead of always breaking stories literally as he's coming on the air here pete great to have you on. This was a much watched battle between a number of schools for marcus freeman. Good afternoon and tell us what happened. Well i this is what one of the more public and hotly contested coordinator Tussles that i can recall in In in recent seasons anyway there's been a few a few of them over the years and You know we'll we'll we'll never know only only the only the folks in the grotto will really know How much notre dame has a market because their private but you know. Lsu lsu is ready to pay him Both leaning plus money and You know he went to both places this week. And i think at the end for For marcus freeman. Who is cincinnati. Thirty three might be thirty four year. Old defensive coordinator and the architect of that That great cincinnati defensive wanted this year one the afc and then Loss to george on a last second field goal in the in the peach bowl. I think for for marcus. There was geography and You know there will be some stability right. You got notre dame brian. Kelly is just steady ship there and You know there was a lot attractive. I think about. Lsu they were. I think on for twenty four until defense or some some number that would be easily improved upon with some new blood in better schemes. And obviously they probably have more raw talent down there so i mean really a really a compelling decision for a bright young coach. Call that we're going to be hearing a lot about in the In the next couple of the next couple of years course the next guy will probably not be thrilled to because all the attention was on freeman. But where does she go next. That's a that's a really good question really. Good question You know they they. They made hard shortages at At freeman and he was he was clearly be The target and the guy they wanted. And i i don't know From ahead who. Who were they go next. You know there's a lot of people have preserved our net at mississippi state right now Chain being made around adam this week. There's been rumblings if texas is going to go after in the chris ash Won a national title As buyers defensive coordinator at ohio state six seven years ago. It was the head coach at rutgers in the news at texas last year. And she's got a lot better on defense under wraps. I think that's that's another name right. Now let's That's brewing through the The the defensive coordinator mill show there will There will be options. And if we know and scott woodward they will be addressed.

"Tim. Brando has returned and we are always excited to welcome. Tim brando back to our show and tim. Thank you for the time. Happy new year and man. Is there a lot to talk about. Yeah and even some of it is in sports too. You know a little bit of it has to do with sports up. And i've never been happier to be involved in sports right now. I can tell you that this is a this is a good day to cure about a college football game because otherwise you might need. You might shift drink. But let's keep it on college football before we get to monday night because certainly there's plenty of analysis. I couldn't help but think of you. On on friday as cincinnati was holding on dearly and ultimately lost to georgia in the peach bowl <hes> just <hes>. You had been way out front arguing for others to be included in the party and they certainly acquitted themselves quite well. Yeah unfortunately you know this. Perception is reality. But sometimes the realities are when you wind up. Paul with <hes>. A magnificent championship match up. And i will concede that that's what we have. I mean let's face it. We're talking about the two premier programs with the two largest brands from the two cities that get the highest ratings in sports television columbus. Ohio being second in birmingham alabama. Being one we're talking about the the the cfp really getting very fortunate. I mean really really fortunate. Because you know i certainly didn't believe in ohio state <hes>. To be clemson the way they did. And i saw enough of ohio state during the regular season to know that they did not perform anywhere. Close to that <hes>. Until that game was played. Which i think gives you know you have to give a lot of credit ryan day for having his staff and really his own gain planning so schematically superior to davos sweeney and clubs. That's you know brent. Venables is an outstanding defensive coordinator arguably <hes>. considered maybe with dave aranda. Now is the head coach the best in the country and they were absolutely woodshed. It by ohio state and they did it. Schematically with two tight ends what they call twelve personnel football speak and utilizing the tied in and other receivers in a way that they have not done all season long. certainly they didn't do any of that against northwestern football team that defensively had the their team in a position to possibly beat ohio state in the big ten championship. I mean if it weren't for trae sermons <hes>. Who had an unbelievable record breaking performance rushing the football. You know ohio state. Does it win that game against pets. It's gerald steam. So i think it was a legitimate by most of that cover football on a regular basis that simpson. Just add way. Too much ammunition and from a defensive standpoint would be able to handle what <hes>. Been a relatively <hes>. Understandable <hes>. offense to defend. You know if you take care of justin feels and you double alava at wide receiver. You should be able to handle them well. That certainly was not the case in this game. So the cfp gets break with this matchup but that doesn't stop the thought process that that cincinnati gave everyone a reason to understand my point of view on this and so many others feel similarly that this is a team deserves to be playing for something a lot more than they were against georgia. They were two yards away all on third into and really didn't have to convert the third to if all they had done is just run the football as opposed to pass it <hes>. Georgia would have had twenty five thirty thirty five fewer seconds to work with to get the ball to field goal range for fifty three yarder to win it. So i would contend that cincinnati's not just not getting the two yards but just deciding to throw the football rather than run. It was the difference in winning and losing. And and i think if that had happened the narrative wouldn't just be all my god. How great a matchup we have. We know how state alabama the narrative would also be. God did you see cincinnati. You know i mean did you. And they put iowa state with two losses above them. They they they dropped them to spots. I mean cincinnati's case would have been so much different. Had they been able to pull that off against georgia. But but i think people that are smart enough. That really understand the grander landscape of college. Football get the point and that is teams like cincinnati belong the ratings. Prove it too by the way. The highest rated new year's six game on your employers air by far was the cincinnati georgia game that means the game against north carolina and by the way eight. Mp team's gonna wind up at the top four right but you know it was that was a glorified exhibition. It did not rate the way cincinnati's game rating <hes>. with georgia. It just didn't so imagine if that game was cincinnati were game. That mattered. That really matter. <hes> i dare say it would make a huge difference in the mindset of so many people as it relates to expansion of college football. Football's player

"Sounds good 23 minutes away from eight o'clock. We're going back to the cold play Well, twice in the same show, huh? All right. My name is my leg her in for Lance McAllister. This is sports, talking to Tuesday evening land to be back on Thursday. Justin Williams covers you see football and basketball for the athletic and there's there's a lot to get to The aftermath of the Peach Bowl. You got schools coming after Marcus Freeman. You have players making decisions about whether they're going to stay at school or jump to the NFL and the basketball team that use he's lost five straight games. And that's not supposed to happen. So there's a lot to discuss. Justin is here. You could subscribe to the athletic and you could read his work. He doesn't awesome job and you can also follow him on Twitter and Williams underscore Justin. How you doing? I'm doing great. How are you? I'm good. I'm better now that you're here. Let me uh, let me start with the Peach Bowl. Third until you got to run the ball, right? Yeah, but it's bigger than that. Reno right? Cause it Z to place where they didn't let the play clock right down. And, you know, Yeah. You can't really go back and do revisionist sister. I get that. But if you just let those Play class run down. Everything else remains the same. You're looking at. What a minute 20. I think for that third down, basically, If they would have done it right. They could have cut a minute off of what George got when they got the ball back. So instead of getting with a minute, 30 they get it with about 30 seconds left on the 20, and they have to go down and score field goal. Now, you know who knows what happened, But it certainly would have been a lot tougher and Then you know, on the other side of it, if if they make a complete that 32 or there, Michael younger help Pierce. They're just they somehow you know, through that pass, you get a get a completion. I mean, maybe behind Pike defends, but there's probably not aboard. Finding play in the history of the program. So you know it was a zero to hero call, and obviously to him not being a zero and then that's what people are gonna remember. So but but I think it's bigger than just that 13 to call. It was really just kind of the way that whole driveway. You're right about that. Here's here's what kind of sticks in my craw. It's It's not the mechanics of what they could have couldn't have done. Second guessing is easy. Second guessing is a part of the gig. It's what makes sports fund Luke Fickell. I think behind closed doors would be willing to admit that certainly not right after the game, but fine. The thing for me, though, is and I wrote about this for the athlete for the athletic that the publication that you work for it, and I think there's some people who took this as me being cynical or negative, and it's not that It's an appreciation. For what that moment Woz you are. You are two yards away. You're a minute and a half away from achieving the greatest victory in your program's history and to do that. You've got to finish your season undefeated. You've gotta win your league. You've got to be the highest rank of all the group of five schools and you've got to go toe to toe with a powerhouse for 58 minutes. All of those things are hard to do it the same time. That's not to say that you see football is gonna be bad or not being a big bowl game or not being the top. Those things very well could happen. They're gonna have a good team coming back next year. But it felt to me like the planets were lining and the planets don't align all that often. You only get some of the opportunities like that. You're right, especially with the situation there. And I mean, look, you see, a football has been really good for the past two years, but What it's been at least three years now, since I've been to a New York six bowl and they've been good. They've had good recruitment had successful seasons. You know, Memphis wins the Commerce title s last year and then, obviously like this year, they're not even playing for a championship. So as much as I think the bear cats, they're set up for success moving forward, and I really do you know, I think there's a good chance that the last thing Kind of memory of this game is just the fact that Cincinnati belonged on that stage. They didn't go into that game and get blown out. They went into that game, and they should have won. But you were right that if we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that just getting to that point, you know. Yeah. Everything's set up really Well, you have Luke Fickell. All that stuff is great. But even with all those things getting there is hard and they were there and they had a chance to win. And they didn't so e think you're totally right that even if they do get back there next year more the back there in a couple of years. Let's not lose sight of the fact that how difficult that was and how great it would have been for the program to get that win. We have spent the aftermath of that watching players decide whether or not they're going to jump to the NFL or State University of Cincinnati. And I think the big one that that everybody is paying attention to his Desmond Ritter. I would expect an announcement here within the next day or two is does your gut tell you either way, whether or not does is going to stay or go Yeah, I've always been lean, and then he comes back, and I'm stunned. Still definitely leaning that way. Um, you know, he's gotten some attention. Certainly, you know, kind of an NFL draft circles, and I think it became definitely from the start of the season. But even just over the course of the season, you know became something he really had to think about. I mean, you wrote about this think back like If you'd have told people in the second week of the season third week of the season, the decision he's gonna have to make everyone had been like, please, you know, go into the draft, and so you know his credit. He's made that a viable option on he's done that by playing really well, so I think he realizes that there's still some things he work on them to be an NFL quarterback, and so because I think he comes back, But you know, all christened him. The fact that he made this I think probably a tougher decision than even he expected entering the season. If you would have said to me that in September we're gonna be talking about Desmond Ritter being the offensive player of the year in the league, and we're you know, he's gonna maybe leave early to go get it. Go, You know, end of the draft and maybe get drafted. I would have laughed at you. I mean, I would have taken that bet right now. I guess the way I look at it is a It's a great success story because he advanced so much you wrote about this during the season, not just as a thrower, but the mental aspect of pre snap aspect of it. The timing the runs better all that stuff. He really evolved into a complete, well rounded college quarterback, But he's not a finished product. He still has a ways to go. He should be the quarterback of a really good team next year. It's also a loaded draft class. So I mean to me, there's I certainly would never begrudge anybody a chance. Toe go and lead to an opportunity that awaits And who knows what's gonna happen. You could get hurt all that stuff at the same time. I think there's more upside T staying in school than there is to testing the waters in the NFL draft. Where, as as great as it is that people are writing about him is as an NFL draft choice. It doesn't strike me as somebody who is going to be taken on Thursday or Friday, so why not come back to school? Yeah, And, you know, let's not discount the fact that like he can, you know if he comes back and have a good season next year, he's up there with, you know the Dooley. He's an all time great. You know that quarterback and football player and he's from right down the road in Louisville, his family could come up and see him play. Obviously, this was not kind of the normal college experience this year that The starting quarterback player of the year would would want to have, so, you know? Yeah, get the NFL stuff. But I.

"Flag. Had Robin All the pregame talk is about the draft stock plummeting for Justin Fields, who it looks subpar in his two prior outings. But you put on a show in the big moment. 385 yards passing, not to mention six touchdowns in Ohio State to an easy 49 28 victor over Clemson in the Sugar Bowl. I just think you know everybody doubting us, you know, just just pushed a little more and like I said earlier in the week I prepared for this game like I've never paid for a game before so I think that's sort of the field and I'm just proud of my brother's part of my teammates and Out of the way they played field you played hurt. "W who shell back to throw his past, bottled up in the air and intercepted the bear cats pick it off. My gardener comes down with the ball and the bear Cats had their first check takeaway of the game as sauce. Gardner has his third interception of the year. And Hoard the SM You gained the third interception of the season by Cincinnati Corner Ahmad Gardner and what's become a rarity, an opposing team throwing toward the sophomore quarterback. This week, he was named an Associated Press second team All American here on the same honor as his teammate. James Wiggins. Welcome back to Mercedes Benz Stadium. We are getting set for the Peach Bowl coming up at the top of the hour. It is obviously been a phenomenal season for Cincinnati's defense, anchored by its secondary and a big reason why the U. C D has been so good this season. Has been the play of the man they call sauce. Ahmad Gardener who, by the Way, was also named first Team All American by the Football Writers Association of America as well as U. S A. Today I talked with him on this week about what those postseason honors mean meant a lot in the That's not something like that I was like looking into. But when people brought it to my attention, you know that was really something that I was like Blessed to receive and everything. I think one of the really cool part about you being named. All American is you were joined on the team by your teammate your barricade teammate James Wiggins, who went from not playing at all last year to being named in a P. All Americans, So give us an idea of what you gained from playing with James. You didn't get by Not playing with James last year helped a lot having a veteran safety. Who would you like? Show me the ropes like, hang in there with me and everything, you know, Make sure that I get my I Q of and be able to grow fast as a cornerback. So yeah, that was great being able to play with him this year. I remember talking with Kobe Bryant early last season about you, and he had kind of taken you under his wing and look, he he gets He gets a lot of balls thrown in his direction because teams don't want to challenge you. And I want to ask you about that. But give me an idea of what you've learned from playing with Kobe Bryant. Um I learned a lot from my life how to be a leader, you know? Coming in, Like very young. I learned how to like. That all you on Lee joining the seniors, Those aren't the only people that can lead a team like cornerback can lead and president consulting work can also like I just learned how to be like a leader like that's the main road that he liked taught me. Keep my composure through everything and just lean everyone, no matter what position they play. Word travels fast in college football amount last year teams Darraji they challenge Do they threw your way this year? That's not happening. There will be long stretches in games where the ball doesn't come your way. Doesn't become a challenge to stay focused to stay engaged when More often than not the policy and coming in your direction. There's not a challenge as much, but I'll take that as a former respect, you know, Quarterback like I'm not a secret anymore. So you know, they know about me. So you know the consequences that that's in play like if they thought of my size, so Did you have to stay focused every time like because, you know, I never know when the ball is gonna end up getting going my way. I know you'll talk some trash Do you ever say to the other team's quarterback walking back? Dude, throw the ball my way once. Yeah, talking a little smack sometimes, but You know, I just play. I just got there and play football at the end of the day sophomore quarterback Mark Gardner with us in the pregame show this week. You have a pretty remarkable streak. We're one game away from completing your second full season and yet No team has beaten you for a touchdown. You haven't given up a touchdown and coverage. It goes without saying no, DB wants to give up a score. But is that streak in the back of your head providing maybe a little bit extra motivation. Most definitely, I can't. I just can't get lax. You know that's something I problem myself. I take that very personally, They know that's given up points and that's something that I most definitely do not want to do. I think one of the differences between last year's team in this year's team is Ahmad that Cincinnati is better offensively on the outside, They're better in deeper at wide receiver. There's more things that you seek, unduly offensively, you practice against these guys every single day. So how have these guys on the other side of the football major better? Yeah, I brought it round and it brought the best out of me. Like every single day of practice and captain everything. And like every receiver, I go, I go against whether if opponent like actually team or my teammates. I'm gonna bring the best out of them. You know what I'm saying? So that really helped me and I'm sure I helped the receiver girl off. Obviously you've been recognized as an AP All American, But you're also getting talked about a lot in the NFL draft community and you're not even eligible for the draft until 2022. I know you follow people on Twitter. I know you read a lot. I'm sure a lot of people are in your ear that are talking about us. An early round draft choice already in the 2022 draft. Are you paying attention to any of that? My feet on my timeline. You know, people tag me in it sometimes, but I'm just I'm just in the moment right now. You know what I'm saying? Like I'm just playing ball. But I know that opportunity is gonna come and I'm gonna make the best of it and make the most out of it. Last year, you had to pick six against UCF. I talked to you the following week for the pregame show. I called you by your given name and you said, Call me sauce. That's been your nickname Since you were six years old. It is grown. Everybody calls you sauce. What has it been like to watch the nickname Take off watching the nickname Growth. Just like back home. The only people that Carver that is like my family members like all my friends, my boys. They called the sauce sometimes. So, yeah, it's been real fun Sauce. Gardner, the sophomore cornerback from Detroit, Michigan, named an all American by four different Publications. We are less than 22 minutes away from kickoff. It's Cincinnati and Georgia in the Peach Bowl. When we return Daniel chat with Bear cats head coach Luke Fickell, you're listening to you See football presented by Ukraine on 700 wlw. "From dog nation. Social media thrilled. Jt daniels performance. But ponders why kirby smart didn't play him. Let's welcome in the author of that article connor. Thank you for being with us. First of all. Let's talk about the good news. I the fact that he played well for those who missed the game and it was not exactly the feature game of the day How did he play. I thought he was fantastic. Four hundred yards four touchdowns as the first georgia quarterback to do that since twenty thirteen for a program that has had lingering questions about this going back even pass through the twenty nine thousand nine season to have a performance like this especially when they couldn't run the ball. At all this was the worst rushing performances. One thousand nine hundred eighty six which is a total yards. Jt daniels doesn't play the way he does it. I think it's pretty fair to say. The georgia probably loses to mississippi state team numbers. Not that highly thought of coming into saturday. We're talking to kinda raw and lane kiffin alluded to that as well. Which is just a shocking statement. Is it not that we we ended up getting to this point for those who have not followed the vagaries connor of jt daniels. Do we know what the hold up was with him. in terms of clarence yeah so. His dad came out and made some comments today. You can read them a dog nation where he wasn't one hundred percent ready to go and august and even september. We know he wasn't clear to play in. That arkansas game came out right before the auburn game. Second game of the season and said jt daniels physically clear to play. Football games and reality is yours. Second game of the year. We didn't end up seeing him until the seventh game. We know he took that knee. Brace off prior to the tennessee game and practices in warm ups. But for whatever reason we didn't see him it may have been an issue of how comfortable he was in his knee. And the level of mobility that kirby smart was looking for that's something he's referenced. Many times based off what we saw on saturday that mobility was there the ability to make plays in really. I think the biggest question at least fans people who follow the program asked me or how close was jt daniels to what we saw on saturday back on november seventh when georgia played florida because if daniels plays like he did on saturday against florida. There's a real chance of jordan. Finds a way to at least made that game closer and possibly even win. It just truly amazing to think about how different this georgia season is and while they're having a better season than most two losses of Effectively out and georgia was expecting to be in atlanta at the end of the year and not watching on television or playing in another game. Just give us your your your read on the energy that has now maybe been brought back to a program that was seemingly dead in the aftermath of the florida game. It was a it was a mighty big fall from grace. Do you think this is going. Yeah people's energized. Even i think if. Jt daniels keeps playing away. He does. It is gonna keep people interested in tuned in the rest of the season. 'cause you point out. This is georgia program. Where going eight and two this year in a burst in the peach bowl. That doesn't do it for them. There was a lot of negative energy around this program. Losing the florida so for daniels will come out. Look good look like a possible at least certainly this season and potentially even long term solution at the quarterback position there for georgia. I think that's huge place. While again against south carolina and finishes the season out strong. I do think that can build a lot of momentum towards that twenty twenty one season when a lot of these skill players. That played really well on saturday night. Also come back to the storage team.

John Bolton's Damning Indictment of Trump

"Police reform two Supreme Court rulings to Juneteenth many of the week's biggest stories involved the president of the United States we're starting off with a new book by his former national security adviser John Bolton who did not testify in the impeachment proceedings but who broke his silence this week with his new book coming out next week the room where it happened is his account of working under president Donald Trump in it Bolton warns of the president being taken advantage of by foreign adversaries I think Putin thinks he can plan like a fiddle I think Putin is smart tough I think he sees that he's not faced with a serious adversary here I don't think he's worried about Donald Trump he claims the president's only focus was winning again in twenty twenty I think he was so focused on the reelection that longer term considerations fell by the wayside describing his presidency in terms of obstruction of justice as a way of life John Bolton said Donald Trump simply isn't up to the job the president may well be a superb deal maker when it comes to Manhattan real estate dealing with arms limitation treaties on strategic weapons dealing in many many other international security issues are things far removed from his life experience Fulton disputes the book contains classified information but top Intel officials warn it could cause grave damage to national security both gave his first interview to ABC chief foreign correspondent Martha Raddatz it's airing at nine o'clock Sunday night this week I talked to Martha about her interview the significance of Bolton's accounts and what it all might mean for the country this book there is so much in it for everything from president trump is a radical irrational foolish stunningly uninformed was there any one thing that stood out in this beside some of those comments the book is just briefly job drop paying page after page and the interview is as well John Bolton says this is just a book of facts what happened during his seventeen months in the White House I think it's so important to remember he is the highest ranking official who's written such a comprehensive book like this while a president is still in office he told us he concluded from all that he saw that the president isn't fit for the office of president I don't think he has the confidence to carry out the job there really isn't any guiding principle that I was able to discern other than what's good for Donald trump's re election was very firm about that and that is an extraordinary statement for someone to make about a sitting president yeah I'm structure of justice as a way of life expelled on them he talks a lot about what happened during the Ukraine back and forth John Bolton of course as you remember did not testify during the impeachment hearings and he's been heavily criticized for that but he says he thinks that the hearing should have been expanded they should have looked at other things that the president has done with foreign leaders if he does not say that they are are impeachable but he says it's possible their peach bowl and he's talking about relationships with with China with other foreign leaders with Turkey and he says some of these foreign leaders cannot wait to get in a room alone with president trump without aids without Bolton so they could make a better deal for themselves what does that mean as somebody who has covered global affairs for such a long time as you have looking forward for even just the next few months of this presidency or possibly the next four years if the president is reelected all when it comes to foreign policy in American security one of the things the president said is that parts of this book are classified and that they could harm national security and when you ask John Bolton about that I mean he clearly says a lot about what was said inside the rooms with these foreign leaders because John Bolton was there trump says he's a liar but whatever those stories are out there and I said look doesn't that harm national security that John Bolton is writing about foreign leaders and he said look it's not anything those foreign leaders don't know I think what John Bolton says about the president not being prepared for these meetings those are alarming statements I am I'm sick of my own preparation for that was that for the Singapore summit in the Hanoi summit and and you really want to read up on those things and you know John Bolton saying the president did not and wasn't prepared for them but foreign policy in the country Bolton will say it's been harmed if there is another four years it could be harmed further according to Bolton what's the overall reason for this book do you think I can only tell you what John Bolton says and he said he wanted to get just the facts out of what he saw that he thought they were important to get out that he thought it was important for people to hear what the president said and John Bolton clearly is concerned about the presidency and about the future I think that is why he wrote this book it is almost six hundred pages all I can say is that John Bolton insists he did not write this to settle scores he says he wrote it to let the American people know what goes on in the White House with president trump

Bowl Games 2019-20: Schedule and Predictions for Top Upcoming Games

"We're talking ball games he's around March here I'm Susan Burke as we want to know what you think about any and all ball games were talking red box ball because the fighting Illini our plane in the red box full talk or text three one two five nine one eighty nine hundred now as we're talking about rob just even going to a big ten game as it is is so much fun so much going on that date you can't see from the TV so to speak and while a bowl game in the bay area sounds like fun to me I I just want everyone to know that I did lobby to get us out of the red box full wasn't quite in the budget maybe next year exactly maybe next year but I I did try and try well it we make the Rose Bowl next year and they they've they've got a Serra send us folks there I think so they were you know like you said a lot of fun things going on and she's there's no shortage of of things that the the fighting line I have been involved in since the touch down the other day in San Francisco I know they've had a lot of fun Brian Barnhart was telling us when he joined us earlier voice of a line I basketball and football for that matter they bend Alcatraz and they've been doing charitable work all sorts of stuff sounds like you're having a children's hospitals yeah and you know I also want to mention that the Dallas Mavericks are taking on the Golden State Warriors tonight why do I say that because the fighting line I will be there they're gonna go enjoy the basketball game tonight as well that's right that's right they are going to go see that game I think you know just from an outsider's point of view I I think that's a great way to take these players minds off of the fact that they've got a huge nationally televised game yes coming up when they take on cal of course again you can catch right here on WLS AMA ninety ends look a whole lot of stuff going on out in the bay area I absolutely I mean first of all it wouldn't be a game without a pep rally right no I hadn't the twenty nine th the first bowl of men open to fans is the pep rally redbox bowl pep rally that's at noon at Justin Herman plaza and Market Street that's a famous street in San Francisco it's free and it's public and a chance for fans to have a great time middle of the later on in the evening at least I'll dare in on on the west coast that is the bowl bash at the bay that again will be open to the public in that it'll be it'll be a good time at some located at oracle park now I'm not sure exactly where that you want that's twenty four Willie Mays plaza that's good for the giants play I have a baseball team so that'll be that'll be fun and and you know the the good times continue to roll on the the following morning well they do that's the game day run club so that happens there actually embarking from embark could there plaza I think I said that correctly and the guys are staying at the Hyatt regency and so they're gonna run on over to the where all the action is happening the run is open to everyone it's four miles so you have to be ambitious to join in that activity well I think it's important to to give a little bit of history of this game date run club it's actually hosted by you'll vie athletic director Josh women he threw this out on social media a while ago didn't know how would go but he's a fat guy he played at the university of Illinois and now he's the athletic director down there in Champaign so sorry I wanted to go for a run on game day he does it every morning prior to the games and the next thing you know as is usually the case with social media this thing catches fire so all the sudden people started running with him so this is the game day run again brought to you by the athletic director Josh women who was just just very very passionate not only about the football team you know which he played on which just anything involving a line I sports he's he's front and center cheering them on so that'll be fun Embarcadero plaza a huge tour stop in San Francisco so that'll be it'll be fun to watch get the people's feedback on on how that goes well right in place with that run and that's a stress reliever you know much like the guys traveling to Alcatraz and going to the game tonight and all of that it's a stress reliever but you can't stay too late at all the pregame activities if you're gonna run for my word to the wise there's also a pre game party looks like I'm the game day at ten AM yeah so that'll be a good time as well and you know as we said that we think that we think that tell you my fans are gonna be out there in full force the they travel well and in that you know nothing like going through a bit of some lean years to make a G. P. people's interest and get out there and support you're fighting a lot of little be fun three one two five nine one eighty nine hundred if you got a prediction on the red box bowl again as the fighting Illini face the California golden bears or you know any of the any of the bowl games still yet to come in fact one E. is under way it is the peach bowl chick fillet people that is between the top rank LSU Tigers and the fourth ranked Oklahoma Sooners and I think Justin said he pretty made a bold prediction he said that Ellis you wearing fifty up on the Sooners I think this game at least is the way it's playing out right now is going to be a little bit closer than predicted Ellis you just scored it's still in the first quarter you're about ready to go up fourteen seven on the Sooners the but the big one tonight in in our minds Susan second ranked Ohio state at thirteen and no big ten this year taking on three Clemson that's going to be a that's gonna be a big match up it's going to be big and like you said a lot of these these games today really too close to call our I I don't even think he the experts know exactly who's gonna win who's gonna who's gonna make it yeah I I just don't you know the so called the so called experts they didn't really do much by Illinois this year with some other point spreads and how they kind of I guess disrespected them I would like to say well Shalom right exactly so yeah again the marquee matchup is going to be is is going to be huge and it just kind of a little bit of a history of claims and and Ohio state the Ohio state they've got they've got a little bit on the line here not just the fact that they want to win and go on to the national championship but the last time they faced constant was back in two thousand sixteen it was new year's eve out in Glendale Arizona Clemson crush them thirty one to nothing in urban Meyer said after the game not only do we embarrass ourselves in Paris the whole state of Ohio well our you got that right yeah and this is one of their first appearances in this poll are college football playoff to have their own my time I'm talking about Oklahoma part yeah I know that's okay yeah no we're do where does did send stuff to keep track of these days but look that's gonna be a good game of the one that's going on right now is Ellis you and Oklahoma hi you know it's just in these teams are so evenly matched we talked about it earlier I don't think it's you know overstating its when you say that I really like the top four teams this year and as they kinda you know get get themselves into that national championship of formation I think it's some we want to go with I think it'll be Ellis you're not really going out on a limb here because they're also even the match I think it'll be Ellis you and climbs in in the championship game just we think you're racing around so somebody thank I'm going with Justin we have I said I know but just since our fabulous producer he is just a few more minutes to go here wanna thank Brian Barnhart he joined us earlier he calls the games for the university of Illinois does football and basketball which by the way you can also hear basketball on WLS AM eight ninety and just really looking forward to the weekend to the game absolutely and we have basketball tomorrow right we do skip all tomorrow tomorrow night and other well Hey we're talking we're we're in need deep in football talking red box full everybody's so excited that we're going bowling we're going bowling for the first time since twenty fourteen and we're all excited about that and you can hear both football and basketball right here on WLS AM eight ninety pregame started to write does yeah warm the fans are going to warm the faithful examines so that's the time to tune in yeah definitely that's definitely the time to tune in and and then we have more sports programming for you and full coverage of your fighting Alaina North Carolina agency there you go that's to start though I for some reason I have to start time mixed up one o'clock so the pre game will be a little bit in advance of that and you know since Brian is out in San Francisco I think a good friend Scott Beatty who join us on the show before you might be doing the call of this game I don't know but I I think you might and we'll get on him because it's so it should be decent game and then you just touching on basketball briefly since we we started talking about it then after this game against North Carolina agency of finding a line I really get into the bulk of the big ten schedule after the first of the year on January second more specifically they take on Michigan state Purdue Wisconsin writers northwestern that's an instance big ten team then they played two again Michigan Minnesota Iowa and then you know then it's obviously it's conference schedule so it'll be interesting to see they they're off to a good start as well they are they absolutely are and how we should thanks god also for his contributions and helping us out during football season yeah yeah well he's he is good and he falls in on a daily basis and really knows the ins and outs of a few of our football and I wanna call amount for predicting that you know you know I was gonna we were all day we were all depressed at one point in the season it was kind of a roller coaster season has we've touched upon and he did he did say the vibe down here is not good he did say that yeah well if is down in champagne right right my special thanks first of all to Justin we only who's helped out with the shows yes we did two during the bye weeks this season and then this one leading into the red box ball again two o'clock pregame on WLS AM eight ninety on Monday as the fighting a line I get set to take on the cal bears twenty one oh six and six cal bears seven five on the season
