"On. And we're on to the next guy. But see, you're not, you're not hiring a defensive coordinator simply to fix Russ. You're hiring a defensive coordinator for the Broncos. Right. But you need to hire, you have to hire somebody that is on that page with you that same page. Whereas you can be honest as a coordinator, you can be honest as a head coach like, hey man, this week, this week, we're going to hang 35 on these guys. So we got this one. This week. And it's going to be hard to get 20 on this. But see, I don't want the defensive coordinator whoever he is, I want him to come in and create a certain attitude of certain compete level and practice, sure. Regardless of who the quarterback, where they're at Russell Wilson, whether it's Jameis Winston, teddy Bridgewater, or some future drafted quarterback. To me, who the quarterback is immaterial. I want that defensive coordinator to bring that. The practice every single day. And that's why I don't care about Russ. That's why you get, that's why you get kind of excited or I do when I hear the name Rex Ryan. Right. Because I know one thing about Rex. That dude is gonna play some defense, right? And when things aren't going right, it's not gonna be hey, let's lay back and let's make sure that we keep everything in front of us and let's just tackle well and death by a thousand paper cuts and I know when things aren't going right, somebody knows it's getting bloodied. And I am I believe in that philosophy. Let's find some energy. Let's find a way to get this thing done. Let's create a turnover. Let's go out and punish somebody. And at the very end of the day, we may lose a game. But that other team is going to be looking at its wounds. Just hire people, hire people with the idea that if along the way, they're hired to fix the Broncos. And if along the way they can fix Russ or bring out the best in Russ, great. But it's not job one. It's not the job. The job Sean Payton, the job of the coaches they hire, the job of the defensive Gordon, whoever it is, is for the Broncos to be competitive. It's not about the best thing is there can no longer be this pampering of Russell Wilson. You know, we need to baby him along. Russ needs to be accountable. So, and he is hard worker. I'll give him that. He's hard worker. But it can't be any more of this. Coddling. Up next, what's trending Paxton lynch is trending for all the wrong reasons. A possible Tom Brady comeback? March I just flew open. And she's fans. Man, she's fans proof that

"You want to set the mood. Yeah. Paxton lynch made quarterback history over the weekend. As he is now the only professional quarterback to ever be benched. In the NFL, CFL, XFL, and USFL. It's unbelievable record. When you think about it. He is the alphabet soup goat. Alphabet soup goat. NFL, CFL. Okay, I got you. XFL. USFL. Is there any other FLs out there? That he could be benched around? Yeah? AFL. Arena football league? You got to go for it. Go for it. Live your dream, man. Live your dream. So you're telling me there's a chance. You know, in AFL team and then just stink it up. You can do it. What's that club called, is it a different kind of goat? What? The Grammys, Oscar, you want a Grammy and Oscar, a Tony and an Emmy. Is it the goat? I don't know. Different kind of goat? I don't know what that is. Is that how they, anyway, he's the professional quarterback version of that. Yeah. Ready to go Paxton. Good for you. We always knew you had it in you to be special. Huge. Yeah. We always know it. Only person in history. To be benched in all those leagues. Next on the morning brew, boy. There is some amazing, amazing things going on at CU right now. So how about this? I saw. This is for their spring football game, okay? And in the past, you could show up for free. Yeah. So over the last 7 spring games combined. Free. See you counted a total of about 30,000 fans who showed up for free to the last 7 spring games combined. Last year they had 1950 people. This year, they're selling tickets. To the spring game. Uh huh. Which is still two months away, so far they've sold over 30,000 tickets. Sold over 30,000 tickets. The last 7 years combined, they had 30,000 free tickets to the spring football game. Yeah, it doesn't matter though, right? Coach, creating something special. That momentum doesn't matter. I'll tell you what. Incredible. What they have already done now, obviously we have to see some results on the football field, which I think we will, but what they've already done here nationally, you want to talk about putting somebody on the map that hasn't been mapped in decades. Decades. Inconceivable. It's incredible. It really is. They have not been this prominent on the national scene since they won their national championship. Egot Chad B got, that's right. Grammy Oscar, Tony, Tony. Right. Paxton lynch is the egot. Of professional quarterbacks. And he's the first? The first, he's the first. I don't know who the first egot was, but that's what Paxton lynch is. The first, the first, the

"Don't really need those, but at the same time, I'm going with Abe Lincoln. I thought I had you as a Nixon guy. It's like, it's like an everybody. Yeah, it is a Nixon guy. Yeah, no, not necessarily a Nixon guy. Not really. Not really. Troy, you know, there's a lot to get into, especially with this defensive coordinator conversation, and I'm certainly looking forward to doing so with you. Briefly, though, I wanted to touch on a few different minor things from over the weekend. The XFL started this weekend and Paxton lynch made his debut and it was very short lived after throwing a touchdown pass to Cody latimer. He got benched. And Troy, I think that's probably curtains on the pro career for Paxton. Here's what surprises me about Paxton lynch. When I covered him, I was there for all of it. Right. What he was drafted by the Broncos. It's my contention. He's never said this to me, but his goal was to make the NFL, not be a star in the NFL. He did not have the motivation typically associated with that position. Does it mean he's a bad guy? He just had an immaturity about him of like a 12 to 15 year old. Some days, football is the most important thing in his life. Other days it clearly wasn't. And then when he got hurt and couldn't manage to play through it, it was like, are you understanding the urgency of how quickly these careers go by? So my point in wrapping around this, I was surprised after the NFL didn't work out. And it was, it didn't fit in impacts and it's terrible fit. Maybe in a different system, because we saw some of that talent on display when he actually almost beat my homes. Right. Endeavor. That was easily his best game as a pro, but it didn't, he didn't win that game. He ends up in jettisoned, I didn't think I'd ever see him play professional football again. So I respect the fact that he's gone to CFL and XFL. That shows me the love was there. Sure. And that's the irony when they always say youth is wasted on the young. Is that if he had had that passion for the sport that would keep you going in the XFL? Because you're not really making any money at that point. If he had that passion back when he was with the Broncos, it really is what could have been. Yeah. Because he didn't.

"They played against wade Phillip? Ah, the guardians. See, here's my challenge with the XFL, right? And here's my challenge, right? I can probably deduce by home field when it shows me where the game was played. That the renegades are a Dallas or a Texas team because it was Arlington, Texas, at choctaw stadium, but they played against the vipers and I have no idea where the vipers are from because they were the road team. And to your point, that game was 22 20. He was Orlando 'cause he's from that area. He got benched in his debut for the Orlando guardians. Okay, the guardians, and they played in Houston against the roughnecks. 33 to 12. And that's wade Phillips team, the roughnecks. He coaches Houston. So I was paying attention to that because of way Cody latimer actually caught a touchdown from Paxton lynch in that game. Cody latimer is still bouncing around and former Broncos receiver. He got a touchdown from lynch. It was going to be a good player. Then lunch did not play well after that. He had his last pass was an interception. And he got benched. The uniforms look great. Some of the technologies cool, like the interactive Ness, being able to hear the coaches, there's some things that, again, make a lot of sense, but at the end of the day, they got to square points. For me, it's hard to watch. I don't want to watch a defensive battle in the XFL. 1815, battle hawks over Brahma's Texas has three teams in the XFL. Defenders beat the sea dragons 22 18 defenders are Washington, but where are the sea dragons for Seattle, Seattle? That's obvious. Okay. That's a pretty sick logo. That sea dragon's logo. I actually did. It kind of looks like the UAB blazers. A little bit, yeah. Seattle kraken S kind of shape. A lot of logos these days almost feel like they're ripoffs, so something else. The dramas doesn't make sense because it's the horns of the Brahma bull on the helmet, but they're yellow. You need to be like cream colored to look like actual horns of the Brahma bull. The XFL scores 22 20, 33, 12, 18, 15, 22, 18. So I see your point. Not much scoring. It's weird with XFL, like the original first go around the old, he hate me go around of the XFL. That was something new and different and I tried to watch a couple times and get the excitement like the scrum for the first possession and things like that. But interest died out after a month or whatever the case was and then obviously the league died out. It's weird for me because I'm such a huge college football fan, so a lot of these guys I would know from watching college football, but I've never ever outside of the original USFL with names in it. Doug flutie and Herschel Walker, Jim Kelly, outside of that. I've never gotten into any other pro football league. So I should probably give it a chance and try, but I just, I can't do it. I can't do it.

"Abbott's on Denver's sports station, one O four three the fan. Marlene and Franklin in for stank who is with his family watching his son's baseball team. Yeah, Daniel coaching at western Michigan. So his baseball journey continues coaching and they're at LSU this weekend. So they decided to go down to Baton Rouge and take it in some college baseball. In Brandon Stokely country. Call him bad and rouge, huh? Man, you want to be able to get that special table? In Baton Rouge. Just drop stokes name, right? Yeah. Stokes the mirror, man. He's the man out there. He's the man. Just drop Stokely name. You're good. Is it just me Friday, hot takes? Here's a great one. This is from water boy. This is a what if? Is it just me or now that we're in the off season? Don't you wonder about the Hackett Wilson decision and what if? Would you rather have Peyton and Wilson, what you have now, or had another bad year with Fangio and Locke and then be able to go into an off season with a mystery coach in either a top QB pick or a shot at Derek Carr or Aaron Rodgers. Well, this is the ultimate 20 hindsight question. But yeah, I mean, go for it. Yeah, no, no, for me, I think there was no way that I could have stomached another year of Vic Fangio in jula. Pat Shermer didn't drew lock no favors and how he constructed the offense and passed her approved that he wasn't able or willing to adapt or evolve with the National Football League. But man, when you do look at Sean Payton, right? And who's Sean Payton is? Had Barron Rogers been in a situation. I think that Sean Payton, Aaron Rodgers would be attractive to Sean Payton and then be thinking about, hey man, I would love to go play for that guy. I do believe that as well with Derek Carr. And when you have guys like that, now the money that I believe that they would take a pay cut to play for Sean Payton in that scenario. So Broncos country would be better off. Yes. Had you went one more year with Vic Fangio and drew lock, obviously you have your picks as well. So that's an added bonus to the whole situation. But that's the ultimate 'cause nobody. Nobody. Let me repeat. Nobody was really on board with running it back with Fangio unlocked. Now, you may have had your life. You may have had your lock supporters out there. Yeah. But not everybody who was touting Fangio and Locke. Let's do it. Nobody. Exactly. And that's the end all be all, but at the same time, to this text or waterboy. 100%, I believe that Sean Payton is a mountain mover. I believe that people want to play for Sean Payton, especially at the quarterback position. Aaron Rodgers talking about giving the right circumstance. He believes he can win another league MVP. Well, I believe the Aaron Rodgers had been in this scenario right now, Russell Wilson is not here. Yes, the Broncos are somewhere where he arrived is the same man. I want to try to get there. There are car, whatever the case may be. But the unknown, the draft in a quarterback. Too many times we see teams draft quarterbacks and it does not work out. Heck, Paxton lynch, right? He starts his debut in XFL this weekend. What happened to when is the smear campaign coming back? Are we starting it? Did it ever leave? Oh, I never really left. It's been kind of laying dormant like shingles. It's commercial. Top of mind. But it is, yeah, the rule, the deal that we made was we would stop the smear campaign when the Broncos found their quarterback of the future. So that's why we stopped it when they got rough. But that's why it's still kind of active. Or when packed became a starter again in the NFL. That's not happy. I do give Paxton for all the grief we get Paxton. I do give him credit that for somebody that was labeled correctly as not really caring about football. And football seems like he loves him. I think he now realizes the mistakes he made and how he probably took football for granted. And now he realizes that it did does matter to him. And so at least he's trying. He's gone XFL, USFL, Canadian football league. So at least he's trying. He did play. I give him credit for that. Yeah, it's easy to be like, heck with this and walk away. You know, Paxton lynch made a lot of money too. First round pick, right? So 29 years old, still young, relatively young in the quarterback world. So he's able to get on and show some promise, maybe get into somebody's training camp next year. It might be back in the NFL. At some point. But back to that what if. To me, look at Peyton and Wilson as a combo package. So to me, you're asking would I rather have another bad year with Fangio and lock or would I rather have Peyton? Because I just, I never bought into this idea that Sean Payton was brought here to fix Russell Wilson. Sean Payton has been brought here to fix the Broncos. Thanks to culture at the demographic. And to make and to turn this thing around so that 5, 6, 7 years from now, but could there be a one a and one B though? Along the way, you can fix Russell Wilson. But it's not a prerequisite for me, because I see Sean Payton as being the answer here long term. So whether it's him fixing Russell Wilson or it's him developing a different quarterback plan that ends up working out, either way, that's going to come from Peyton. So it's not like if Russell Wilson doesn't work out with Peyton, you're going to move on from Peyton. That's why this is all about Russ. Hey, Russ. Your careers at a crossroads. What are you going to do? Can you change? Can you improve? Can you change things in your life, your entourage, your training habit? Can you fix this stuff? Because Sean Payton wasn't here. It wasn't brought here to fix you. He's been burned here from fixed the Broncos. And guess what? If you're not here in a year or two, Sean Payton still will be here and he'll be on to his next plan, which is ultimately the ultimate crossroads for Russell Wilson, because his whole entire career, it's always been, hey, Russell Wilson and Ken, this offensive coordinator, get along with Russell Wilson. And can this offers a coordinator, get the most from Russell Wilson? This is his first time of his career now where it's, hey, Russ, can you get along with his coach? Yeah. Can you fit in with this coach's philosophy? That's no longer about you. We have a new face of the organization. It's not the quarterback position. It's Sean Payton. Coming up. What is trending? Got some fun topics here for you. Boy, apparently Kevin Durant really loves himself some Kevin Durant. And something that possibly could be coming down the road that you as a football fan will absolutely hate. Tell you about it next. Evans with what's trending. Right now. Orlando Franklin in four stinks, so here we go, Kevin Durant introduced yesterday as the newest member of the Phoenix Suns and apparently Kevin Durant loves himself some Kevin Durant, as he was asked about the pressure and expectations that come for the suns for this postseason. He said, quote, it's pressure because I'm one of the best players to ever play the game. Which he is, I guess, I mean, would you, I consider him a top 25 player. Of all time, top 30, top 25 player of all times. So I guess it's also a pressure because you're coming into a situation where it's already been built, right? So where's KD? He went to Golden State. It was already built. Now he goes to then he goes to out there with the nets and he tries to build something with Kyrie.

"No reason to hold us back and lose manning dad but though he wouldn't be the reason it wouldn't be elway it would be toward faden. George peyton would be the reason. Let's face it is always position even is that like what he's doing right now. Is that a normal position that the rest of the nfl has you took your. You took your president who was your. Gm basically said. I don't want you to make gm decisions anymore so now you're just like you got to decide whether the stadium serves coca cola. Pepsi I don't know i don't know what it does. But is that a real position in the nfl probably nfl. Teams create positions all the time for their buddies and stuff. And it's probably just like a nice little sendoff gift to retirement is really what it is. Probably because do. I don't think anyone knows. He's because george pain did say thanks to elway at the end of the draft did sign off on on moves maybe he can make recommendations without maybe share some insight or they play opposite game. Elway says hey draft a quarterback and like cornerback. What i'll go with that. i'll go the opposite. If manning is involved he is going to want to be all in and have a say. That's what i'm saying. "Well, thanks. I'm Jason Kelly, along with Mike Lynch and Michael Bar today. What a treat. We are so excited to have Lee Steinberg with us. I mean, talk about the biggest names in sports. A guy who has seen it all Super agent. He defines the term super Agent in many ways, Lee Really, really nice. Have you with us. Nice to be with you. So let's talk about kind of where you are at this moment because you have pulled off a pretty remarkable comeback in in some ways, rebuilt your agency, your business we're going to talk about. Ah, guy named Patrick. My home's a little bit later in the show who you negotiated historic contract for but This is two point. Oh, in many ways for you Tell us about sort of the recent journey for you. Well, you know when I struggled with alcohol on D have especially devastating crash back in 2010. All I said to myself is I'll be sober and I'll be a good father. My dad had to core values, which for treasure relationships, especially family. And try to make a meaningful difference in the world. And I could see I wasn't really living up to either of them. And I always knew that. I mean at that point I Represented 62 for friend graphics in the NFL in the very first pick eight times and, uh with pro players and Hall of fame. I knew that part of it would would be okay to rebuild because I'm just still find athletes who wanted to be role models. Wanted to retrace the route, but, uh Being sober and telling my 12th year continuous sobriety and being the good father were my goals. First of all, Bless your heart, because 11 years but going on 12 now sober. I mean, that's that's a great thing and You have seen the highs of the highs and the lows of the lows. Can you talk about that path? And now that you're back up on your game? Can you talk about that? What went on here, please? Yes, You have to break denial. If anyone's out there listening, and they're struggling. With any kind of substance in their hopeless just know there's help. And so I did a 12 step program with the unique fellowship. I had plenty of help from people around me. Um and you have to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. You have to believe that somewhere in all this debt creates and destruction. There's a better time. So resilient is the quality. Really, that saved you in that? And I thought to myself, you know, I'm not starving. Because in Darfur, I'm not. What the last thing Steinberg in Nazi Germany. I don't have any crippling disease. What excuse? Do I not have so So we started back a firm and then 2016 had a first round draft pick and the quarterback Paxton Lynch, and then the next year was Mahomes and last year was to a tangled by Lola. We have Ah, really great team, and we're still doing the same thing. We're asking athletes to retrace their roots instead of the high school scholarship on or work of Search for Boys and Girls Club go back to the college university like it during game instead of Miami years straight when that you feeling self, the scar supported and then at the professional level Put together a board of leading business figures, political figures and community leaders that can execute a foundation. So work done. This just put 176 single mother and her family into the First home so ever owned by making the down payment, And so it's happy, changing lives. I know you've already said Brand is King. How did you rebuild your brand? And, more importantly, your trust not with with former clients, but with Potential future clients. You have to be realistic about what the challenges are facing you someone might ask. How can you guarantee you'll stay sober? Which you can't you know you've been out for five or six years. You still have the relationship? You know you're not a spring chicken, exactly, You know, will you be around for our son's whole career? So you have to have well thought through answers to all of that. I don't have a divine right to represent players. But Uh, we had a big Small practice big best of all practice Olympic stars, boxers and, um I knew that no one had represented. Mork I round draft picks, but I'm looking to profile certain sort of young man. So you're looking on the college campus for someone who Right has a zealous work ethic And also it has a good heart. And if you could find those types, I thought I'd still relate. Well, and it's interesting to pick up on that, Lee. I mean, Mahomes is a fascinating example of someone and I've read a little bit of what you've said in the past about the draft process, Even for him. He was not to mix sports metaphors here. He was not a slam dunk. High round draft Peggy in many ways, So what did you see in him? That you know, Told you that Not only would he be, you know, obviously a terrific M v. P player, Future Hall of Famer. I think it's fair to say but also, you know, sort of a man who would meet the moment even off the field. He had been raised by a father, who was a professional athlete. So he sell the highs and lows and he understood inherently how to stay grounded and he was Bracewell, So his primary focus is on other people. He asked you if you met. How are you doing? What's going on with you? And, um That makes a natural leader and then he's really bright and has an eidetic memory speak and remember every single play. You have to look past the fact that Texas Tech had such a miserable defense that they were having 50 55 60 points scored against them. So it put the pressure on pastor to to score on every drive, so he made throws and did things that people thought were gun slingers. And, uh, but you have to be able to project beyond that. Because you've never seen as freakish and arm as hey has been the touch. But here's what's really critical for franchise quarterback. It's now become the preeminent position in pro football team's gonna have a hard time going to the Super Bowl without one. So you look for someone you can build around pretending, 12 years someone you could win because of rather wet. But most importantly, what do you do in adversity? Kenny adopted quiet, mind compartmentalized and elevate his level of play in critical Situations to take team two and through and you could see that he had the capability of that. And then it really helped that you had a year behind Alex Smith, who is a really generous mentor. Stay tuned for more of our conversation with super Agent Leigh Steinberg..

Fun show for you here on a Wednesday evening. Of course, George to Rory is going to join us for pro football. Focus has some more things to explain. What was the last week last week were like man. Of course when you get to the top 101 Broncos have four players in there. But there were also going to get to this article You put out today, the best and worst case scenarios of the Broncos. The worst case scenario is Drew Lock is the week one starter Worst. Worst case scenario is the Broncos have to start. Gerlach, Week one. Clearly these people that pro football focus have never had the pleasure. Of watching Paxton Lynch. Wait a vacuum cleaner salesman Chad Kelly. I think Brandon Allen in the buffalo wind. What is it like, like, you know, I could think of like no fence to bright written, but I could I could go down the list Shelf. Driscoll. Did you even watch Jeff Driskel last year? How is that the worst option when the worst option is literally on the team? E could go down the list of backup quarterbacks in the league that I Rather not start on week one. But you know that's a door lock isn't even in the bottom five options from the last five years. Oh, I don't like the idea that that's the worst case scenario. I mean, like, that's what's gonna happen. And I like people. I wish it is trying to prep people for this for months, and we're gonna have do it for more months and trying to prep people for this, And instead everybody wants to have flights of fancy and you know, we're gonna get Matt Stafford. Now we're gonna break bread far about a retirement or, you know, whatever. There, whatever it is this week. I just It's so important here. You and I, You know, I know you do your tongue in cheek thing when it comes to drawer lock and what you think about him, but in the end the end We hope he's successful. It's good news for the Broncos. If she's successful, she's not Then Broncos going to new direction. I don't think it's any skin off our back on this case, but in the fact remains That I mean that the worst case I think that's a little bit hyperbolic, but that's that's just me. So we'll talk Tomo George story about that. I think I think I see where they're coming from. I think it's the worst case because the Bronco's would then have to spring for the sheer volume of gold bullion. It would take to make that half to lock have sent our statue out in front of sports authority. Also Stephen's. Yes, I understand. Zach steals from D N v. E r d d NPR. I've never seen the show. So you anytime you reference anything. With parks and rec. I'm just kind of that. Even referencing that I forgot the name of the stadium. I called the sports authority. Then I called it and Ron and I meant to say, Empower. You totally butchered that I did When I was running down the checklist here. I get it. You know, I got things to do here, right? Zach Stevens from the NPR second choice too. Well, that's always fun. Yeah, looking for nearly as fun as Enron Field three or 3713, 85 80 five's or Phone number. 56690 is the text line before we get to the news of the day on a J. Okay, our briars here what We're doing Radio right there, right? Here. You're beyond the sports genre now, So I just want you to know that there were enjoying their fire almost every night. So anyway, it's a great deal. Hey, if you could just talk about sometime tonight or after we get off here What you think the running back when we look like for the Broncos this year, you know, Royce and Uh, Phillip, Lindsay and It's better. I just be interested in what your thoughts are. So appreciate it. I'll just hang up and listen. No, I appreciate that. Thank you for the call. Yeah, let's we can talk about that, for just a moment. Appreciate the call Josh and call anytime so. Running backs Melvin Gordon could face if this suspension that's sort of the expectation, right? Well, very likely the system Yes. Oh, he's going to face Ah, three game suspension more likely, and little pleasure right now. Of course, as we know is in our FAA on so the Bronco's will have a choice on what they want to do with his tender. Likely a second rounder, but we'll see they could original round tender him. That's also an option. Let him test and then Royce Royce is here. So he rose is gonna be here that that that doesn't really change. I think Let's back up a bit here. Melvin Gordon's probably gonna be here. The money dictates you probably will be, but you'll miss the first three games with suspensions. I've gotta have a plan for that. Bill Lindsay. We just talked about the tender when you're restricted free agent there. Three tenders that you can give a running back first round, second round or original round, right. First round tender means that if a team wants to come get that player, they have to offer him a contract players to agreed the contract and then they give you a first round draft pick for that player. Second round tenders the same things that second round the money on a second round tender is less. That's about 3.3 million Give or take. There's about four million for first round tender ever take on. Then there's original route Center, which they don't give you any draft. Pick it all. On does have rights..

"It's been a lot of fun, but yeah, that's a that's a little bit of my background right there. All right. Well, I appreciate that. So, so that leads me to the next part here since you just joined the beat for the Broncos this last year. Give me your perception. On what Has been holding this team back. What are some of the reasons why they've been struggling over the past several years as a guy kind of coming in with some fresh eyes? Well, I think it's obvious Yep. Start with the quarterback situation. You look it. Um, You know the guys they've had back there since, you know, painting any retired. Really? Um, and it's just been kind of a struggle. And, you know, obviously, they've been through. You know, several guys with Paxton Lynch and Brock Osweiler. And, um you know all those guys and you look at Drew walk obviously. Miss past season and his ups and downs, you know, and I know he showed some promise there at the end, but I think that's kind of where you have to start, But I think you also look at some of the different areas. I think that even go to the head coach. I think Vic Fangio has come in and done a decent job. But, um, you know, to losing seasons, they missed the playoffs both times. But he's been there. So this is a big, you know, third year that he's going into. Obviously they missed with Vance. Joseph. Um, you know, I think those have been a key issues its head coach and quarterback, But you can also even go down the line and I know you know we might get into this, but My nobody wants to talk about what they're gonna do it to lock. And if they're going to trade for a guy who drafted guy, but I mean, they have a lot of holes in other places. I mean, I think Justin Simmons has to be a priority. I think he is. You look at the cornerback situation. I think those are some big holes right there that they have to go get some words up there. Maybe through the draft, maybe through free agency. You know, you look at right tackle. I think that's an issue that they need to address this offseason. They never Juwan James is coming back next year. That's another position that I think they really need to look strongly added improving on the offensive line, you know, and then again, quarterback is another one that you have to point out and s. So I think there's a lot of different things that they need to get better. I didn't visit to Sean walked in, type player come in and fix all that. I don't know what kind of, you know maybe depends on what you have to give up. So, um, you know, I think that from my outsider's perspective, I guess is It's kind of where it started is, you know? Do you go on? Get that top level quarterback this offseason or do you wanna fix some of those other holes and maybe wait, I'll get him in 2022, maybe here to lock another shots to be the guy next year. Well, George welcome to lately to the to the Broncos beat and my uncle or a great uncle. I guess it was. Charles Albright was 40 year columnist for the Arkansas Democrat. Is that so? I know well, that paper's history and heritage um What has been the most interesting moment for you on the Broncos beat thus far. We'll have to be then playing without any quarterbacks..

"The quarterback market continues to be very intriguing, if nothing else, whether anything really happens or not, we're all chasing rumors. But there's a report out there that could lead to some other dominoes falling. We'll get to that here in a matter of moments, But first, it's been the best bet of the day. The best better than anybody buy it at MGM on the Twitter You wanna follow them for all the latest and greatest, They get the it that bad beat tweet that they put out every week. You tweet that I'm your bad beat or whatever. Sometimes I'll refund your bet on that kind of stuff. That's just a little feature. The better. GM's throwing out there kind of distinguish themselves from the competition. And right now, if you sign it for bed, MGM at Met him Jam or download the app. Put my promo code in just my name, Benjamin. And they get $600 deposit matching going on right now $600,000 more anybody else in the market, So just a heads up If you're into that kind of thing, If you're into more money or whatever you can do whatever you could just do that Guy's Boston, Utah tomorrow. Little Basketball. Utah Jazz are a 4.5 point favorite in this one. Hi, Boston. Like Boston on the Moneyline and this one. I love Boston to pull the upset. So if you get a plus 1 45 on the Moneyline right now, That's the latest from the sports book and that Ben MGM odds right there. I know the jazz were playing tough, another jazz or a good basketball team, even though they get spanked by your Denver Nuggets. I just like Boston in this one. Don't Don't call it a gut feeling. I think they match up. Well, okay. All right. There we go. Spins best bet of the day In a long time. You'll ever see me Tell a Boston team and Albright MBA supports that. On the text line Winds took a step back. Yes, he did, but That was a little bit different. Didn't get Tau win the Super Bowl. The Eagles won the Super Bowl Nick Foles. He was coming back from injury. You know he was coming back from injury, So it's tough. You know, when I pointed out, that will be kind of gotta go look back in the look at the numbers as far as what happened after the loss. But Colin Capital in the 40 Niners don't think they ever regained what they had. What their mo mentum was that took them all the way to the Super Bowl. Yeah, you know, they had a lot of things go off their hardball on his is tough act. I think Worf and they had a lot of coaches there. It was just him. Horrible. That kind of had that tough love approach any time all your coaches. They're kind of tough love that socks because normally you got the one coach. That's kinda your buddy and you could buddy up to him when the other coaches a tough and be the buffer and you had, you know, the D C. There was Vic Fangio. You kinda tough love scenario going on from everybody and it it's It's just kind of tough is just kind of just got a difficult when you have that when you don't have that buffer in between, So you've what if he's gonna be the tough love guy? The other guy's gotta be the player's coach, You know, I mean, That works in anything. It works in anything you do when you get the you know, if you get that one, boss, you gotta have the other boss. That's kind of the guy you could run to when I was in the military. You know, you had the, um tough love was always like the top breaking in CEO within the company. Commander get to play the good guy wearing the cape coming. Oh, you know what? We're gonna scratch that we're gonna You know that kind of thing, And you kind of need that that system Tau. You know, I think that's the best to get you get the best out of people just kind of have that set up. So, um, the 9% a couple other things going on in a lot of things going on there. That was, you know, the capper Nick. Alex Smith. Controversy on Ben. You know, cap came on and, you know, did his thing. And that was whatever. But, you know, I don't think he ever got to the point where he wanted to be. He has a break games. He has some duds and then hardball, you know, and the internal power struggle there he had with with the GM. And with what's his name up there? I can't reveal his position was at the time. But he was leaking anything and everything that he could It just It was just a bad situation. So, Yeah, I'm looking at this right now. So the 20 13 season, which was the year after the Super Bowl. Actually, they end up having a pretty good year. They started out a little slow at a couple of does against Seattle in Indianapolis, but they kind of picked it back up and and Kaepernick was was good, but not great, but they were winning games because, remember, they still have a really good team around him. You know, I'm going all the way to the Conference championship and losing at Seattle. That year. And, of course, Seattle Seahawks went on to play the Broncos. But that's that's what they did in 2013. Then, of course, 2014 is when really everything fell apart. So I think I was thinking about more than 2014 season Remembering Colin Kaepernick kind of being a bit of a mess. And they were ultimately a pretty bad team. But the 2013 season on of course, they said, they went 2012 seasons, the one that they went to the Super Bowl and lost to the Baltimore Ravens. 2013 season. We're back to the playoffs. They won in the wild cards, the divisional round, and then they lost in the conference championship to Seattle. So They did actually pretty well, though, the very next year so good on Kaepernick and and honestly that the guys that usually bounced back from the Super Bowl loss on the ones that usually sustained career so he might be a little bit of it out. Liar there as well. So we'll kind of come back to that. That'll be a fun little conversation over the next few days. This one What was Mike Remmers Jersey number? You know his number? 75 Mike Rivers every single time. That is when I just can't bear the thought of another quarterback competition again this year, But it sounds like that's where we're headed. Why any which way you slice it? You mean like what part of quarterback competition bothers people like isn't every competition The competition? Let me get it every year. You're You know you're out there, hoping somebody better steps up and all that kind of stuff is the difference between a competition in an open competition. Yes, for us. Well, competition as in, you're out there the whatever's happening on the field in the classroom, all those kinds of things or all part of its CEO and again open competition brings back memories of Paxton Lynch and Trevor Simeon, where you had to backup quarterbacks buying for starting job, and neither one was really starting caliber were just parsing terms there. Every company until you have just remember like way have a little bit of a A weird hold up on that here in Broncos country, But shouldn't I mean it the other day, it's every year's quarterback competition. They have the guy that's just what it is. So I competition you know, it's just like it breeds excellence, right? Like the better. You know, you two guys going against each other to make each other better. Right are the best versions of themselves. They could be. It might not be excellence when your options are Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch, but you know, you can't get the idea. That's what it is, You know, competition. Gets the best out of people. And so that Z what it should be like you Don't miss anyone got looking over her shoulder, but same time like you do because you know if you're looking over her shoulder and hey, that God might take my job. I need to be on my P's and Q's at all times. You know, sometimes you can lose track of motivation without somebody you know, nipping at your heels. And so I'm not. I don't hate quarterback competitions. You could tell after the first week which who the guy is, and it goes from there, But the media loves the height that stuff up and they'll sit there you arts wraps taking away the developing Yale's six reps totally totally stunted his growth. Okay? I'm sure that I don't want to go down that path. So I want you to the Russell Wilson stuff. But it was getting will come back. We will come back to this conversation because I very much disagree with you. But there will be a quarterback competition this year. So doesn't mean I have to like it. I'm just telling you like I'm just prepping Broncos. Don't get it. I get it. All right, So Russell's and there's a report out there. This is for Jason, locking for God will take it with a grain of salt. I'm hearing Russell Wilson's campus grown increasingly frustrated by the Seahawks inability to protect the eight time Pro Bowl or he has been sacked 394 times in nine seasons. The situation warrants serious laundering. So what's your read on that?.

"But you know we're talking about Three and four first round draft pigs, So I I'm just not optimistic about it. Uh, I'll be very happy and very, very, uh, Supportive if we were able to get that, but it's just I don't know. I just don't see that light is dim, Dim that that actually is a little too visual for me, Big fella. I don't like that at all more from cream Jackson on TMZ on whether or not the Broncos are interested into Shawn Watson. I honestly don't know is far as the hand tricks I know. I mean, Drew a lot just finish here, too. And we think highly a true You know, she was a great guy. You know, He's great in the locker room. No, he's uh He's becoming a leader right before my eyes. You know, he has all the tools, you know. So I'm not really sure the answers you know, from my own personnel and our style, but I mean, If the shining watching goes anywhere they are, they are automatically contenders. You know, if he has pieces around him, he's automatic continues, You know, I mean, with him being in Houston, you know, we're not very Many pieces last year. You know, he was gonna give him a fighting chance every every Sunday. You know, Regardless of the guys around them. I mean, he's just that special so I mean, he could turn any franchise around. Definitely gonna have to give up a lot. No, it's from some key pieces, probably on your team, but I mean, he's a young guy. You know, Wherever you go, he's going to be the franchise on me. Um He's just as special and in my short time being with them and seeing some of the things he was able to do one still watching from a farm and he's you know, just especially talent that that don't come around very often. So it's just one of those things if you want to be a contender and win now You know, I mean, somebody's gonna take that risk. Uh, The big risk. For who for any team to give up. Ah, whole lot of stuff. The risk is worth the reward I'm home. Think is risky at all. You have a known commodity versus unknown commodities and your first round picks. No, I mean, how have we done in the first round, says von Miller. The jet was pretty good. Who really jump jump jump is okay. Right Break's been captured. Chop just made his first Pro bowl. Right. Let me ask you this. He Garrett Bolles is a guy who is all pro right? Or at least in that in that range, maybe then they call pro this year, but Did you make second team? He makes second seeded second team second team All pro, but it took it took five years to get to that point for Gary Bowls. Uh, who else we got? Justine Simons. That's not a first round pick, but he's certainly first round picks. You mean this is what we're talking about Jury duty. Okay, jury still out there. The jury's still out on our tight end. North and jury still out. I mean, I mean, jury's still out on Jerry Judy. Paxton Lynch. We know it didn't work, right? Oh, You heard me, but by the way, do you see you just got married. Accented. Yeah. Congratulations. You got to look that one up. Well, what they have. Ah, yeah. Kick this coverage. Oh, my goodness. Did he kick his coverage? Starting quarterback in the NFL. Were you talking about? Out, kicked his coverage. Really? Yeah. Well, I'll say this good luck to him and his new bride. But that you know you don't know what the first round picks will be asleep East. We don't know. If they're gonna ever yield another bomb, Miller Okay, here here. Our first round draft picks. Um, how far back you going? You know what? I'm going to take it to Uh huh. I think I need to take it back to That before bowls Can you go before Bowls? Um mm. You want to go before bowls? Yeah. You don't want to go. Okay. How about I take it Because this guy still on the team? How about I take it after von Miller? Okay. Okay. No first round draft pick in 2000 and two In 2000 and three it was Sylvester Williams. I mean, 2013. It was the best Williams Very okay. 2014 Bradley Roby, who I thought was a good player. That was trending great. Just never really got there here in Denver. Shane Ray and 2015. Is he still in that? We talked about this today. No, I don't think he's still in the later Paxton Lynch. Hey, Gary Bowls. Bradley Chub North and And Jerry Judy. If I told you which one of those guys are untouchable for Sean watching which what's three of those guys? Our untouchable. Yeah. Garrett Bulls. Gary Balls, Okay, so okay, So I'm gonna say terrible. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'm saying I'm gonna take Gary bowls. Okay, now you're gonna have to take Bradley, Chuck. So you're gonna Bradley Chub? You're Gary balls. Bradley Chub. And North and You, Huh? Bye. You say Bye bye. I thought you said you were keeping them. Oh, no. Yes, I'm keeping Garrett Bolles. None of that. You were saying the other two? No, no, no, no, no, no, no. You got to take three years in a row. All of them to that those of the three and keeping you keeping so you're gonna keep Bradley job. North and and Garrett Bolles. Yep. Is there because those three don't equal the Shawn Watson. So let me ask you let me ask you this if we're not No, no, no, no, no, no, I gotta finish this out. I need I need to answer here because I want to. I want to know. So you're trading away. Gary Bowls brandy chub..

"Actually, he was the number two quarterback on the board after Paxton Lynch in that draft of Dallas to trade up got Paxton. The Broncos would have taken Dak Prescott the second round. So you know that's the move that if you're gonna make one, that's that's the move. I think I would make a Rodgers and gonna be available. Jared Goff situation That's interesting, but Jared Goff hasn't been good. No, no, I'm not advocating for Jared Goff. It's just Maurin indication of what's going on around the league. This is unprecedented. Almost feels like a little bit. The quarterback carousel feels like it could be unhinged like that. Now. You know, it was part of this is you gotta ask yourself for any of these guys. An improvement? I don't know that Jared Goff. Is it a proven untrue lock? I really don't like, you know, we joke around about these other guys. I don't think jerkoff actually using improvement. S o that That's that's one that I'm like, Why would you make why would you trade assets so that big money contracts for somebody that arguably doesn't improve you where you are locked? Well, the only other thing I'll say about Jared Goff and how I think he's he is an improvement is at least he's Attained a certain level of success. Drew lock hasn't gotten there yet. So we don't know if he could do it like we might have seen Jerkoff ceiling, right? I think, waken waken. Maybe say that we haven't seen Drew like seeing but least right now, Jared Goff ceiling is higher than relax floor. I don't know, at least where what we what we relatively think about what drew lock is right. Now today, injured golf walked in the doors, for example, and they were willing to work with him. I think he One off season And in the midst of the fact we can't really travel anywhere. Think we're gonna be looking forward to this unique set up. All right. There we go..

"Took a on foreign I found this opinion. Burgum refunding in regards to dwayne haskins to be really wild right. So people are not agreeing with this. What he's saying. So here's what. This man says bergamo portland was a former. Nfl player himself oftentimes young players. Especially i'm gonna go ahead especially young african american players because they make seventy percent of this league they come into the league and ask themselves the wrong thing. Mcfarland said the come into this league saying not. How can i be a better player. They don't say. How can it be a better teammate. They don't say. How can i be a better person. How can i get my work over the hump. Here's what they come in saying. The comment saying do my brand better. How can i make my saudi media following better. How can i work on instagram. And show been ready to go. But when i get to the game. I don't perform it goes on to say for refunding goes on to say Dwayne haskins unfortunately. It's not the first case. I've seen like this party continued and it won't be the last and it bothered me because because a lot of it is the young african american player that come into the league the come in and they don't take this as a business. It's still a game to them. I sucked quarterback. I saw a quarterback. I saw jamarcus russell george. The number one draft pick The number one pick in the draft they gave him forty million dollars and he threw it down the drain because he didn't take it seriously so he goes on to talk about Names that didn't come in his ranco. Johnny manziel ryan leaf paxton lynch in jake locker other notable quarterback plus who obviously don't meet the criteria stated The state of criteria for criticism. On monday so booger mcfarland is really going in like nfl quarterbacks because of their inability to to cut the mustard when it comes down to and that's that's the problem i'm having right. It's it's okay that people don't perform. It's not i mean it's not okay. You give forty million dollars as to russell was these are all. Nfl players you know if you're not following nfl your no idea what i'm talking about but just keep just bear with me here because i want to talk about culture. And that's that's why wouldn't get to as a culture in what's going on behind the scenes right. We'll farland obviously has has insights to what's going on not only on the field but we're going on in the locker room. He's he's has access to all this type of thing and this is the problem that we're having. Johnny menzel was a white quarterback who had would certainly big issues gambling. All this type of thing was drafted by the cleveland browns and had off the field issues. And that's the problem having his what our culture and would welcome following this saying is that it's something this is this is the this is a culture that that we have to address. This is something that we have to really get to and this becomes. This becomes the the serious problem that we're having is that of culture. What is going on that these. Nfl players are coming in and not taking this as as as serious as a game still looking at the game. They're you know they're not getting good advice. In the case of dwayne haskins wayne haskins was two times fined for a violation of the nfl's quoted rules two times he was fined for it One time he brought in someone From from a different part from party right there's supposed to be isolated and so no one else on the team gets sick so he brought someone in at another time. He actually went to a party or something event. Some side was strip club east. He denies it. It was destroyed club and all the kind of so two times that this man has been fined for this. And as i mentioned dwayne haskins was was alleged to have not been attended tending team meetings practices. And all this kind of different stuff. Mean all this kind of stuff on the internet. So what's going on in these young. You're young men's mind. They've been giving great opportunities great great opportunities and they're failing to meet. These opportunities are failing to step up and we have to say something about. We have to look at other people. We we have to look at ourselves before we look at other people. Excuse me there's a quote that that is attributed to one of malcolm x's mentors and The honorable elijah muhammad and he said apparently he said i'm having trouble finding us in verifying the so i don't know if he's not but he but is leads that he has said that before we look at other people. We have to look at ourselves before we can look at what the police are doing. How they're shooting us how they're interacting with us before we look at with politicians doing before we look at how the teachers are aren't teaching of our standards and our outdoor code and what we think. They should be accomplishing of the failing. These are kids are failing all these tests before we look at all these types of things we really have to take a look at ourselves and see what's going on in in our own homes and in our own community. And i think the dwayne haskins situation is beautiful. Some of the someone who's been given talent An opportunity than the ability to proceed and to go forward and he blows it because he can't keep himself together because he can't follow the rules of the team and that is the biggest issue. I don't have a problem. You go into their throwing interceptions and all that kind of stuff. I mean people making them. They don't right the nfl also not only the national football league but but it also stands for not long right if if you don't come in here and perform so if you're not performing you're not living up to your standards and up to your code and everything like that then then you gotta go. But it's it's another thing to not make the practices. It's another thing to not follow the team rules. And that is the biggest thing that i have a problem. That is the biggest item that i have a problem with a. We have to address these things. Stop looking with. The police are doing stop looking with. The politicians are doing stop looking. The teachers are doing. Stop looking at what everyone else is doing. Stop pointing the finger at other people. If you ever noticed when you point venue you got three fingers back yourself. Stop pointing the finger at other people. In other situations we have to take responsibility for who we are and what we are in in some of the downfall that we have and so. Let me just end off with this last little of video here at this video that i'm not gonna show because it was so disturbing so disgusting So i wanted to Just talk a little bit more About this particular video right here. This is a video If you can see you can go to tariq nasheed and It says are we ready to have this conversation family right. The tyreek nasheed talking to You know his followers. His listeners on has accused following youtube another different platforms. So we have a young lady here. Who's got to be at least eighteen. Nineteen twenty or something like that and there's a bunch of kids in this video not gonna show the video because of this much kids at it and all that kind of stuff. But here's a kids faces the actually the first frame. You can't get any other thing like that. So i don't hold. This kid is But anyway this young lady right here takes upon herself takes it upon herself to twerk to dance in his bathroom and obviously they're video recording it. She's doing it live because you can see people are down here Looking at it in all kinds of stuff. So she's standing in torquing and all the kind of stuff this young man and a bunch of other kids that are at behind the shower curtain going on right here. They start hitting on her but she then pulls down. Her pants shows her thong and the continues dancing. And everything like this. So what kind of message is the sending to the young man to the people who are watching the video to the other young men and because it's a bunch of boys back here What what kind of image does that does that portrayed to their mind. What is what is being ingrained in their in their psyche. What happened to this young lady that she would disrespect her so the pulled on her parents in front of these pre predestined kids. The right they gotta be ten eleven something like that. They can be no older than the thirteen years old. She pulls out her pants and shows her under shows her thong to these to these young men puts on an effort for the world to see what's going on in her brain was going with anne. How is she developing these. These young men. Where is the culture where the parents where are those. The authority figures who tell her that. This is wrong as i hope that someone has reached out to her and said that this was wrong. I hope that someone has disciplined. These children are so someone is disciplined. Her i really really hope that this is that this situation has been addressed again. I'm not gonna show the video But you can go to tyreek machine. It's on facebook and so it's it came across my feed very very very disturbing Bet that she would post this and this is. This is what i wanna tie. Is dwayne haskins situation With with lack of of taking the job seriously.

"I'm used to wear seven. But what you're saying they don't They don't wear one right now. They're not out there on the field. They're not so you know, I understand to a degree saying that you know, I failed your to identify a quarterback. But beyond that, I mean, it's up to players to go out there and execute. Of coaches, coach general managers toe kinda help out and work the salary cap on draft and all that kind of stuff. But at the end of the day, trying to wait. We live in such a society is always trying to pin the blame on somebody. We gotta pin the blame on somebody. Well, sometimes it just doesn't happen. Just that somebody to blame and just just didn't happen for you, you know? Hey, they went out there and they try to put together the best team That could be the best coaching that they couldn't and go for it. Sometimes you sometimes you get lucky. And sometimes you don't so sometimes you, you go out and draft a Paxton Lynch. Sometimes you get saved from that by another team going up in drafting Paxton Lynch and Dak Prescott falls in your lap. Sometimes you trade up to get your quarterback and you wind up with Mitt Stravinsky was such Mahomes Trade up to get your quarterback and you get Pat Mahomes. You know, sometimes you know, you've You've got a plan. You draft a guy. You develop it behind a Hall of Fame quarterback, and he doesn't like the way you got handled the last game and leaves for more money somewhere else. Okay, So what did the news today mean to you? Getting mean anything per se. It's just that all this this plan I mean, it really tips their hand on what they believe The timeline is for Brady, which is what we believe it or not. We were guessing for the most part. The only thing that I didn't really know up to this point was that John was going to do what he did this week. Right? That was that was a surprise that came here early, but everything else is pretty much going according to by the way, I cannot wait for pretty bullet to take over. Just for the it's Britney B word headlines. No, no, no, I'm not gonna No, no NFL older dude. No, Like the headline of the duty. Oh, every headline I brought in that for a headline. I'm not in the mood for that tonight. I'm sorry, but I'm trying to bring levity. Try to make you laugh. Yeah. Why do you hate fun and unicorn? That's me. Rainbow Sunshine. Ryan hates run headline hater, right hater of the year, but but seriously like, like so that that news today didn't change anything for you didn't speed up in the process. I give Jo Alice credit, though I mean for for bringing it to the light. I'd say that that that is a little bit of an organizational decision they're making right now. Is there saying, Listen Everybody knows that this contract's up then and this contract's up, then let's just let's just tell you what we're thinking. This is this is what we're thinking because a lot of people have been speculating on man. It's gonna get weird next year, when Jon and Joe are both contracts up. What's gonna happen with the Fangio? There's an interesting conversation, though that has to happen and ride Konigsberg brought this up credit to him. We're gonna debate it and talk to him about it coming up in about 30 minutes or so. You have Joe Ellis? You have John Elway. You have Vic Fangio. You have those three dudes? Selecting your next GM. All three of those dudes might be gone next year. Yeah. Yeah, they might notice that is very Now. Now there's there's multiple ways to go about this and I I certainly from my perspective, perspective and I want to get your perspective and we'll we'll dive into this on the other sex. We're gonna discuss this. My perspective on it is that we're talking about how many years of football knowledge you think they're really gonna pick somebody that's gonna be bad for this organization. Did. You didn't Didn't you? Also on one way or the other, always just assumed John would have a pick and his successor. I always did so and I think they want. They think that's part of the legacy is passing the torch right as it war, But there was bright up today by Ryan, he said. Now let me get this straight. We have these three guys that are principally in charge. Of selecting the next GM, the future of the organization and its it is possible. It's not a foregone conclusion. But it is possible that all three could be gone next year. I still think two of them will be You think John sticks around in the president role and sort of President Vic's going to turn around and he's gonna be fine. But, um, well, let me ask the counterpoint to that question is, do you really want someone with no institutional knowledge of this team and an organization making that call? Guess what? That's Ryan Kononsberg. Dad. Yes, we're going to definitely ask Ryan Kononsberg quiz. Credit to him. He He was only posing the question. Well, and I love that. I love that. Drop little dynamite in the fish tank and see what? See what comes up. I Yeah, somebody somebody else I know. Does that all the time? I can't imagine. Can't imagine who would do that? We do that. I think that I think that's the.

"Much longer do we think he can coach? I think you could coach at a high level for another 10 years if he wanted to. That's a good question being able to versus wanting to I don't I don't know the one part be able to. I think almost a decade, I think Still, I think he's still the bad guy and I answered want to, but I think Can is until he dies. You know what I mean? So you're basically didn't answer the word. The question awaits. Word is no. I didn't read it and I didn't listen to you. I was worried about whatever you're handing me. You're still busy pumping and thinking, Do I have to pass John Elway's stepping back from the GM role and taking a higher position with team Aside from bringing in Peyton was Elway of failure as a GM. Yeah, Yes. No. Yes, He was Championship man. Well, but that's white says besides Elway besides man's got he's drafted or acquired. I saw only know this because I did this game last weekend like game which, by the way they lost, they lost. He's been horrendous with quarterbacks. That's what he was supposed to be great at now. Honestly, they got stuck. Because Brock Osweiler left, and then he they rushed in got Paxton Lynch. And then they were stuck with Trevor Simeon. I'm hearing excuses, not it's not. It is what it is. So other than that, though he's acquired or drafted like 42 pro bowlers in the last four years other than that, captain, it's just a little leak in front of the boat. Yes, meaning quarterback. It stunk exactly. I don't think we have time to finish the place. So just let the music be so we only go that that is a record hit the don't even worry about it. That is a road we got through two out of five because I say so. I wanna make sure that we say tonight Could be a lot of emotion watching the news. Yeah. Um, be careful. You know this..

"To get some fresh blood new eyes a GM to take over And for John Elway and his 10 years of the helm. Some really high highs and some pretty low lows. And some embarrassments but also some incredible successes. And that's why it will always be a pretty complicated legacy for John Elway in the front office. As GM. Over the Broncos. Here's your phone number, 855 to 1 to four. CBS. I get 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 or on Twitter, DEA on CBS morass. How would you qualify? John Elway's GM? Well, when I hear John Elway's G, and the first thing that comes to mind is Paxton Lynch or Joe Flacco. We thought he still had something left. And ultimately I think that's just because we are in a what have you done for me lately? And I think as you bring up The whole point of becoming a general manager on the football team is to bring a Super Bowl trophy home. And John Elway admits one of the craziest free agency wounds of all time gets Peyton Manning to come to Denver and Peyton Manning ultimately wins that Super Bowl gets them to two Super Bowls. And in the end John Elway has 10 years is the general manager, and they do have five division titles so In what has always been a very competitive division. If your GM tenure over 10 years has a 50% hit rate, although it was all early on division titles and you win a Super Bowl. Yes, well, it's a mixed bag. I think if you take a step away, wait a year, two years, three years to look back on Elway's a GM get over the fact that is a quarterback. He couldn't find the right quarterback to replace Peyton. He still got him there and Peyton Manning in Denver. I mean, that is a huge part of Bronco history. He won a Super Bowl, so I think In the end, it does have to be considered success. And you don't win a Super Bowl just by bringing and Peyton Manning got to do a lot of other things, so that also has to go on his resume. He ended up signing the smart defensive players to help transition the team into a defensive, steady team. Ended up firing John Fox when it probably wasn't the easiest thing to do. They've got to the post season of the Super Bowl with him. He helps bring in Gary Kubiak, who seems to have that perfect touch with that 2015 team. So we did it. He did it and the Paxton Lynch thing and the Joe Flacco thing and all of the quarterback things that Trevor Simeon thing the broadcast Wyler thing. That's part of it, too interesting legacy for John Elway in Denver. He steps aside and we'll see who the Broncos end up bringing in. They've got an interesting ownership situation that might scare away some G M's. They've gone through this bizarre bull and family power struggle over their ownership. And so can they land the best GM knowing that that whole things hanging over them, and perhaps they'll have to sell. The team will see an interesting off season for the Broncos. No doubt when we come back here on the show your best audio of the day. In the NFL. Justin Herbert reacts the firing of his head coach. The Jaguars owner discusses firing Doug Marone. And Howie Roseman discusses what's going on with Carson, Wentz and Philly..

"Of the show on this the fourth of January. 3 or 37138585 is the number. We've got full lines as we talk about yesterday's game, the Broncos Lose to the Raiders at home. 32 to 31 Joan Arora joins us on K Away news Radio Hello, Joe. Okay, Thanks. Sure, I'll be on the radio. We got a couple points. One is that you know, we talked about getting frustrated with everybody's in a very young team. Well, that's because our draft choices I went back to check around. That just 17 18 19 or 10 for 22. Not very good ratings. I went to his intensity cheese. They had 12. Other 18 pretty good. Maybe that's why they're better. And then we talk about the virus and we handle all season. I don't think I think all the other teams for the same situation to makes you wonder. How can they were able to do that? A job that we were? Well, given the guy a break because I think he's just not a very good coach. I would only say that I would only say this, Joe, I think, and not every team is in the same situation. And I do think you could make a valid case that with the new offense of coordinator and a young quarterback who had it five stars before this year that this team probably was impacted more so than let's say Oh, The Kansas City Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes back and Andy Reid back and Eric the enemy back. I think even you would have to admit that so it's It's not the same. It's not every every team is not the same. We're gonna change Eagles rookie quarterback there and he had a bunch of other jobs that are. I think they did a great job. He plays and actually Los Angeles. I'm not arguing the point. I'm simply debating I could say I'm arguing your point that every team had the same set of circumstances. They didn't Yes. Los Angeles did a great job, and I've pointed that out to three times in terms of The coaching staff really put. I think a very good young player and Justin Herbert in a situation that he could be productive. I think the Broncos coaches had to be better. Well, that's what I was just going to say. Well, that's that's a good question, Joe. I think And thanks for your call. That's a question that everybody wants to have answered. I mean, what do you want to start over? I mean, Joe, Do you want to stay? You want to start? You want to start completely over, right? Who would you hire Joe? Just out of curiosity, because you seem to have a lot of answers. Would you hire the next head Coach? Hey, let me give you wouldn't be one heck of a choice. The officer quarter from the Tennessee would be a good choice. Um, over mine would be a good choice. There's a lot of great choice out there and they're young, and they're not very simple minded. You look at you like a angel when he was at San Francisco and a chance to hire him, But they chose not to you, but it's the Chicago Question there. They had a chance to hear him, but they did. What's the reason? Maybe they realized that he was not the head coach material and not everybody that goes material. You look at the way Joe's great event recorder. There's a lousy head coach and just the same way you may be a great well, a question about his defense every time there's a current situation. They were where they were going down for the last drive day and of scoring or is there great defense is like last night, you know they could have stopped, the two pointed out. There's going to be a much better defense, but it didn't happen. You know what you might call the time out this things like that there's always occurring. He's so far behind the game, I think is just this time for him to leave. And that's just like, Hey, I didn't take it hold just 1960. So I have a lot of complaints and always wanted the fall because they're now drafting very well. Okay. Yeah, listen, they have missed. There's no question on that They've missed in some of the draft choices recently. I think there's a there's a number of factors that you could put into a big Pot of stew that then you have an idea as to why they sit where they sit. Right. I mean, they've been looking for a quarterback ever since Peyton Manning decided to retire. That's the fact they've missed on quarterbacks they missed on Paxton Lynch with 16 Pick in the first round. Um, that's a factor they've missed on some of their draft choices, which is depleted the roster of core special teams, talent of core the cord nucleus of your team. The first four rounds of your draft to take the first round out 234 rounds 234 of your draft those air That's the core group of your entire roster, and they've missed They've missed on some of those. No, no doubt about it. Um, I don't know if you if you blow everybody out the door and start over. I don't know. Joe mentioned Urban Meyer. I have no indication that urban Meyer wants to come to Denver and coach. In fact, he was reported be the guy in line for the University of Texas job, and I was told, pulled out of that wanted nothing to do with Texas. Now there's a reporting may be interested in Jacksonville. They do have the first pick in the draft. And that'll be Trevor. Lonesome. Maybe Eric the enemy. Yeah. I mean Eve. He's done a really nice job is to coordinator in Kansas City. I would think he's going to get a chance..

"Be a locker room guy who can plug what's been a major hole but also continue as long as you have paxton lynch you still under his rookie deal so was trevor siemian if i'm not mistaken as long as you have him you might as well try to develop him because he does have some good raw tools and he was a first round draft pick so no i don't believe they should waste sorry i i won't use the roadways i don't believe they should spend the number five pick on a quarterback because then you'd have to be you'd have to be getting rid of a couple of guys or maybe both of them that you have under rookie deals and they're cheap when they're under the rookie deals thank you as for the social media brian thank you so much for asking i mean that's just how things go no doubt case keenum had a few social media posts about different guys that he'd like to work with or that he appreciated working with and i mean it's social media is very much in the moment and i get it their accounts out their old takes exposed this tweet didn't age well but twitter is not about predicting the future most of the time it's just about your emotions in the moment and so when von miller or some of the other broncos talk about how great it would be to have kirk cousins.
