"Pavel zacha in the box. Sipping on a bull coup. All right, 6 20 to go in the second period. It is four two zero. The bruins now have the lead in shots, 14 to 13. So this game is, it looks like it could get out of hand shortly that seems like the buffalo Sabres are frustrated. With the bees just putting a beat down on them. Plan dirty a little bit, Dylan cousins getting into it with Freddie. Is it too early to say swimming gets all I can't say that? I can't show it, mama bear. Mama bear. Papa bear. No. You can't say that. You can not say that. Call it a no no. And yes, it is too early to even call it a no no. 5 minutes left to go in the second period, got a whole nother 20 to go, no, can not say the S word. Yes, that's right. Raphael. No jinx bullshit today. Mom and papa bear, I'm laughing so hard at your response. Yeah, it's something as a former goaltender myself. Beer league hero, C Division Championship. You know, humble brag. You don't say that. Because anything could happen. The weirdest bounce could change the outcome of a game, especially if you're striving to keep every puck out of your goal. Yeah. Never a good thing to say because it always comes back. Mike Brooks, how about saying we have the best one two punch at goal that they are first and second in goals against yep. I think stats like that mark are going to ultimately get you into the Jennings trophy conversation where. Leanest all Mark and Jeremy could both accept the trophy. For leading their team with the lowest goals against average, just to both of them having great seasons, jammy swim in, since December has probably been one of the best goaltenders in the league alongside hallmark. So just an amazing year all around. Especially in goal, you know, I think goaltending and defenses, what you're going to win championships and obviously you're going to have a better success rate when you're offense is clicking on and also on those two and putting on a beating like they are against buffalo, which is a non playoff team, so it kind of doesn't make much sense. But she's that was close. That was close.

What a player. I never got to see him play live. Too young. Or I was too young at the moment. But any video I've watched, you know, you can find hundreds of hours of video on him on YouTube. Just the way he played the game, just changed the game forever when you think about defenseman, you know? And he was a Boston girl, you know? You know, traded Chicago was going to have a big an owning share of the Boston Bruins and his agent just passed it up and moved into Chicago where ultimately and his career after a very short stay. You know, the knee problems were too much and but it is what it is. Assuming health, what is your ideal game one playoff lineup? Raphael? Great, great question, and I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna look up at the starting lineup today. Obviously, I'm gonna have marshy and bergeron and Debra, 'cause my first line. And with David create chief back on the lineup, centering David pasman act on the right and I would like to have Taylor hall back on the third line, obviously. "The bruins bounced back from their first back to back regulation losses of the season by blanking the jets three zero. Jeremy swayman handled 36 shots in his third shot out of the season and 8th of his career. The guys did such a good job boxing out. Let me see punch from the point. Made my job easy. "Suits the Montgomery system and I'm still a little flummoxed as to how that hasn't panned out yet. But the only other thing I do keep in mind when I talk about chemistry in the locker room is that I believe Pavel zacha came out and said Jacob's the world's like one of his best friends. So, you know, that in and of itself, you know, I don't like to play the politics or the friendly game, but chemistry and camaraderie is so important on this team. We almost want to keep the ball around just for the locker room's sake. There is that check mafia factor as well. The check mafia. Love that. And also also touching on Riley before we move on. If that was your intention, I'm sorry if I interrupted you. No, no, no, you're good. But Mike rally scored a hat trick on Friday night. First the Charlotte checkers. So good game for him. Don Sweeney and Evan gold were in the house. And so many people touching on of sending me DMs that dawn is up in the in the box. Pacing. So he was working the phones, even at an AHL game. So I do think that something I think that's something else is going to happen. Maybe they retain some of these picks. I'm not even sure if they're going to get a first back for anybody in a second or a third, but you don't want to go to the draft in 2023 down in Nashville with only two selections. You know, try to get some draft capital back if you can for some of these players. But I would like to see something get back before that contract walks. Before we get off of the trade talk situation, we mentioned it real quick, Keith kincaid out Shane powers Shane Bowers, right? That's it. Besides the fact that he looks kind of like a mixture of a Bond villain in a backstreet boy. What are your thoughts on Shane Bowers and obviously a pretty crowded crease down there in Providence? What is your take here? Is that any value there, the Shane Bowers? I think he was the first a former first round pick that just didn't pan out. Late first round in his draft eligible year. He's a signer. I really don't know much about him. I really think that the Boston Bruins were forced to do something here. I think with the emergence of a Brandon bossy coming up from the main Mariners and the ECHL forced the Boston Bruins hand to do something like this before the trade deadline, it's been weeks of the three headed goals I think monster down in Providence with kincaid and Kaiser and bussy.

Jake de bruss broke a one one deadlock two 11 into the final period off a perfect pass by Pavel zacha. I knew that JD was coming, so I would just make a pass through any score, but I think Halsey know making that play on the wall is really hard. And make the two one one for us there. Charlie Coyle doubled the lead about 7 minutes later. Lena Sue Mark handled 30 shots of Patrice bergeron also scored as the bruins improved to 11 and one versus the Western Conference this season. "Stuff. About blasting with energy, really. So great. Actually, it does make my stomach feel better. So I will give them that. Anyways, moving along. An interesting thing of last week that I don't think we really saw coming, we were prepped for free agency, Montgomery's presser, development camp, trades, a trade broke last week, the trade was won for one Erika for Pavel zacha. And there's some interesting takeaways from the Pavel saga thing, right? You know, the contract, except for arbitration. There's or if it's in line up, which we've kind of covered. But an interesting thing I keep coming across is, you know, it seems like Patrice bergeron is definitely coming back, right? At some point, the contract will be incentive laden, low AAV, you know, unless something drastic happens, it feels like he's pretty much back, especially given every single player and prospect and I'm like, oh, I can't wait to play with him and training camp. So he'd be letting a lot of people down. It didn't come out great. Yeah, not great. But crazy is a different kind of thing. Because, you know, again, didn't was in the check last year, it would require moving his family back across the world. You know, it's a different dynamic to that. Where, you know, again, when you said, you know, the conversations are good, but you never really know. And if creatine doesn't return, is a good enough to see. Is that an upgrade over Eric holla or even like a Charlie Coyle? Yeah, I mean, that's one of those things where I don't think we really know until he's in that spot. And I think it's something we talked about when we first were grading the zaka trade where, listen, if he's your third line left wing and he's with Khalid coiling Craig Smith, I think that's a home run of a trade in terms of you're getting a younger player who you could probably have under a longer term deal, whatever his new contract gives us an RFA, but that's the spot for him, and he can work with coil and Smith. I think you have a lot of value there. These are two C a little bit tougher of a grade, right? If you're already moving on from hala, which as we've said before, the bruins at their best when the two C? No, they needed an upgrade there, which is why we talked about creating so much, but you at least knew what you're going to get with hollow there that if he's with hall and posternak, he's going to very least be productive. I don't know if he's going to be 80 point guide, but he's pretty much playing it like a 70 point pace once he was with those guys. And who knows? Maybe you put Zac O with Taylor hollander pasta rock. I would not be surprised if his numbers jump up quite a bit, right? But it's also true.

"It's almost like a recruit visit, right? Where you kind of check out the facilities on those things and the city and you can maybe have a hot dog, go to sublease. I mean, that's what I would do. If I was like a coach or anything like that, I wanted to recruit someone to bring them to Sully's. There's nothing to do with the programs at all. But yeah, so for the bronze, it's about being proactive, making a good impression and then hopefully when North Dakota's season ends and he's a guy like Gabriel is evaluating his options. Bruins are probably going to be right there in the mix at the very least, which if that's what you do and you're putting yourself in that position, that's what has to be done to get some of these college free agents. And again, we'll see how he would develop in the NHL, but adding garlic him to the pool of prospects we have can only make you guys a lot better. So I think he's got definitely stood out to me over the first four days. Some of the best kids to commit to the NHL are often undrafted from college. That is how it works. So Myers has been to bring up anyways, I totally forgot he was a dev camp last year. I'm just saying like, the same situation he's in. Instead of looking at his stats right now, again, at a solid freshman year 21 points 29 games. This year, only 9 games, but 11 points. Wouldn't shock me if he had a really good junior year and he had a similar thing with Ben Meyers for like everyone's eyes. What's Reese Gabor gonna do? Then again, he still has another year after this if he wants. Maybe with the size he wants to, but I still think if the press tour with him is starting off well now and he has a good junior year like then maybe you do immediately sign with the team and go to the NHL and capitalize on it. I'll go with Georgie mercury lost, who was everyone's favorite on Tuesday, definitely fun to talk to. His personalities fun. His English is terrific. Yeah. It's wild that he learned it that quickly. We learned it through The Big Bang Theory, which is just like, hell yeah, I mean, Petrov McGuire had a great tweet. He was like, is he gonna yell like bazinga after every goalie score? We should do. I completely agree with that. But again, he was signed out of college only after one year from how a state. Interesting case with him because again, the center depth is going to be tested in the coming years. This kid looks offensively terrific. Defensively even he admits that he needs to work on some things and Ryan mujan said as much. I believe mcquade said as much throughout this week as well. Feeling we have to watch some Providence games to see just his D zone work. Because the fact that everyone was like, oh yeah, you got to do it. What is he doing out there? I'm sure he's going to work on. And of course, he's good that he's being candid about it. But what happened in those short Providence games and everyone was like, oh, he has details. Like right away. We don't talk about that. It's interesting with him. And it's interesting with the bruins, 'cause if there's one team that does not take well to kids who don't know the D zone well, it is your Boston Bruins. So it is interesting that they're going through this with him, then you know what that means.

"To walk him into a deal. And who knows what that's going to be? I think you mentioned the qualifying offer might have been 3 million around then. So it was 3 million. So what, three and a half, four? I was thinking like somewhere between 3.1 and like 3.56. That's what it should be. That doesn't mean that's what it will be. So I think that's an interesting thing to decipher. But yeah, I mean, again, I look at sort of the bad deals. I always like to focus on the bad deals. And it's like, oh, it's good. You couldn't do that. But as you said, there was value out there. The good grow things interesting because I swore I saw somewhere on Twitter. I could be, I could have like gotten tricked by like ball sack sports or something. Who knows? It could be the first one. Definitely would not be the first. But someone tweeted out that Columbus's initial offer was around like 12 million per year. I swore I saw that somewhere. Again, I shouldn't be just like. I feel like I saw that as well. From like, I want to say it was from a pretty established NHL source. It was. I don't think it was. So that's why I was so surprised when it was like 9.75. When it came in at, like, wow. And again, good for Columbus, though. That's an interesting good for a freaking them. And you know, anyone who has been a Columbus always has like it's a cool city. The fans are super nervous I've never been. I've never been to Columbus, Ohio does not entice me whatsoever. No offense. If you're from a while, more power to you. I mean, like freaking credit to you. You're awesome. Ohio State slogan is frigging credit to you. It's like they're like visit Ohio or like a thing to get like a rebate to stay in the way life should be. Ohio props to you. Yes. But anyways, free energy comes and goes, the one thing I would like to see the bruins do. And again, they don't have the cap space, but I would have liked to see them shore up the right side a little bit more. Connor Carrick was the only kind of right shot defense when they got. He splits time between the age and only NHL, which I guess in some ways is you don't want to go, I mean, maybe they don't want a guy who's going to constantly have to be in a lineup every night, like a January, would have probably had to have been in the lineup every single night. And when you battling with Clifton, who also wants to be in there and you're paying him. So maybe they went with the right thing there, but I still would have liked them to shore it up a little bit more. Given the market, Mark piss was the guy that I also looking at. I know he's an analytics darling. But dude played pretty well less than buffalo and gets paid like 850,000. I don't know where I forget where he signed, but I still think that he would have been a good ad for this team because you could have used some sparingly if needed. Okay, now we talk development camp. The thing that's been happening all week. I feel bad for the kids. They can't get the coverage they deserve. We're going to give that to them now. And there will be some more on Friday. So who is the prospect that has stood out to you the most through four days?

Like in the Devils just kept waiting and waiting and waiting and just never came and it's funny in the video for brune's rank side I actually talked about how in some ways and this is going to get people to kind of go like, oh, but like coil, in a sense, the bruins have been waiting and waiting and waiting to produce on the I mean like everything aside from production coil has been great, but production wise they've been just kind of like, all right, when are you going to hit like 50 points? 60 points. I think there's that same thing with sokka. Maybe for them together, like they cancel each other out, they just start producing like crazy. I mean, who knows? 80 point seasons. 80 point season, baby, coming up for a third line. Most ever. And interesting thing about free agency day. Judging by the contracts, probably not the worst thing in the world that the bruins were not the most active team there. Now they also couldn't be. See, the salary cap being full for them is a blessing and a curse. It's a curse because you can't really do anything. But it's a blessing because you can't sign any terrible contracts, which were everywhere on Wednesday. It is amazing to me. However year, there's bad contracts, right? Like obviously the most notorious one was summer of 2016 when you had lucci. You had David backus. You had, oh, there's a couple with Detroit. It was Franz Nielsen, one of the things so that was one. The off season where the Detroit, more or less made it, add another two or three years onto their rebuild in terms of instead of ripping it up then and doing a clean slate. Dragged it out and then right now they started to bounce back in 2022. Yeah. So in some ways a pretty good thing that the bruins were not super active. Would you agree with that? Yeah, I think so. It's one of those ones where you kind of damned if you do damned if you don't, right? In terms of all right, it's good they didn't have calves face so they didn't sign a good Branson or someone like that or

"And I know both of them are. But an interesting thing was Sweeney mentioned he had multiple conversations with krejci on Wednesday, the day of free agency. What were the conversations? Like, I granted, you just say, hey, just check in in. Boom. After a bad start. But you look at, you think about like, is he like, hey, were you at now? Hey, where are you at? Are they negotiating a price? That's what I'm wondering with both of them. Like, are they now to the point where they're both coming back, but the price is what they are trying to, the incentives, because as Sweeney said they're probably going to have to do very incentive late in deals given the salary cap issue they have. Another thing that makes me think even they are a little worried about this, the zacate trade. Kawasaki, because Pavel zaka obviously prior to the 12 p.m. free agency start Pavel saca was traded Eric holla traded for him. Goodbye Erica. I mean, surpassed all expectations. They sold high on home. Easily. Good for them. But my takeaway was, Zac has an insurance policy. Not just for the top 6 from March hands out to begin the year. But if David krejci decides, I want to play, or he doesn't want to come back. Or Patrice bergeron says, you know what? I'm done. I'm retired. Is he the most ideal candidate? Is he the best number two center? No, he is not. But at the very least, you could plug him in there. As maybe an Erika with the chance of real potential, they feel like. As opposed to, if they just kept Holland, said, well, we figure what we're going to get out of him. So when in Zach, I feel like they got an insurance policy and they sold high on Erica. To me, I actually like this trade. What did you think? Yeah, no, I like it too. I think it is one thing where definitely as a 25 year old guy who can play at the center precision, this is natural position. You're right that it is an insurance policy. So not the best one, right? I don't think you're trading. Let's look at Eric hala. Even though we've both said that the brooms wanted to

"Welcome in to poke the bear episode 104 Connor 104 episodes. My goodness. I'm Evan Marino ski. That is Connor Ryan Connor. What is up? Evan, doing well. How you doing? Doing great. Doing great. It has been a very busy week. I mean, really freaking busy week. Death camps always kind of busy, but then you throw on Jim Montgomery internal oppressor. You also throw in free agency. We're waiting on bergeron, just the list goes on. And we're recording this before Friday and Friday will be the scrimmage. That's like the big development campaign. That's the most important day of development camp. Because we get to see how these guys do, 'cause, you know, the past week, you know, for people who don't go to dev camp, it's very much first couple of days are drills, some bag skates, edge work, and stick handling, and today, Thursday, there were some battle drills, and then Friday is the big day. That's when you get to really see stuff. So not a lot of dev camp in this episode. Just 'cause there are other things that, you know, we need to talk about and I mentioned a little bit of it in the start of what I just said in the sense that are there any concerns? As we sit here and wait for Patrice bergeron, David creche, because we thought, you know, they've been reports from many weeks now, Joe McDonald reported a few weeks ago that bergeron was officially coming back, that it was happening. And that's where it seems to be headed. The best part of the bergeron stuff is all these draft picks and would say, oh yeah, British bergeron called me. He said he's excited to play with it and Pavel zaka on things. It was like, I can't wait to play with him in training camp. So seems like he's coming back. It's just like, when is this happening? And should people be concerned about bergeron creche, the news not being announced yet? Yeah, I don't think it's time to hit the button and go to DEFCON one, right? I think it's more. I think bruins fans are probably we're hoping that as soon as frequency started on Wednesday that the bruins are going to have these contracts all set together a nice little bow and have emergency drop at 12 gifts.
